I really enjoyed the approach of this game; the chapter idea was very cool, esp. w/the previews of the upcoming chapter; gave it a 'serial' kind of feel;

The graphics(while extremely dark at times)are pretty amazing; the detail in all the levels make you just want to stop and stare; it most def. has the feel of the Fatal Frame/Silent Hill look; for 720p, I was really impressed.

It is fun just to go into 1st person mode and just look around.

To me, the best thing about this game were the cut scenes; they all offer some true surprises, as well as many 'holy crap' and 'WTF?' moments. This game just took it's crazy plot/concept and ran w/it, def. creating something unique, which is increasingly rare now days, esp for long time gamers.

This game is scary, esp. sound wise and in the 'sight-jack' mode; the music is a perfect accompaniment, and the rain and thunder sounds are really lifelike. There are lots of 'do I really need to go in there?' moments, and many scenarios/situations I had not seen or experienced, Some things seemed familiar, but never copied or heavily borrowed from.

This is not to say there are not a few flaws; there is a learning curve for the controls and the map, and it is very important to use stealth and 'sight-jack' more than one would think. The response for the controls can be frustrating in times of running from and fighting off multiple enemies, but it can be dealt with after time; i actually played to about chapter 5 and restarted, knowing the controls and map better.

And the game can be too dark at times.

And you will prob need to look at the online walkthrough at some point; I had to use it twice as the objectives or ways to accomplish them were somewhat hazy; there was one situation I would have never gotten on my own.

So while not fluid in controls, it is fluid in creativity and some great horror gaming moments; in fact, the nurses in this game may even be creepier than the ones in SH.

This is also available as a download on the PS3; I just like owning the actual disc. I got a UK region free version that works fine in the US unit.

This game is all about the scares, tension, graphics, cut scenes, sounds, places, and it's fresh approach. It knew what it wanted to do and did it well, complete with the most potentially dangerous seizure-inducing moment/level in gaming history.

I can't wait to play it again!

Unbelievable. 4 years old, the most immersion and scariness to experience on the system! Broken up into episodes, you feel like you are competing in a reality-horror TV series. What a blast, replay is great as well. It's a world you wanna re-visit, as long as you know how to escape first!

Objectives can be unclear. The map can be more of a burden, than an asset. The story makes little sense to me (though never dull). The combat system is a chore to execute (comes with the genre i suppose). And trial and error seems to surface rather frequently, removing tension and fear, and replacing those feelings with frustration and annoyance. Based on those issues, this game deserves a poor mark, right? Well, not exactly. You see, this game scared me to no end most of the time. I was so frightened to play it, that i wanted someone in the room with me. It's been MANY years since a horror title imposed such feelings of fear and panic in me. This is what i want from a horror game! The environments are spooky, the enemies are freaky, and the sounds...don't even get me started! This game has the potential to frustrate, but it does deliver on the chills. Besides, all good horror games are difficult, in a confusing, hair pulling, trial and error kind of way. Not for everyone, but certainly for core fans.

With most games in the genre making the shift towards action horror, Siren: Blood Curse instead retains what made survival horror so appealing in the first place. It would have been easy for them to appease the action/shooter fanbase, and cash in like so many others have. Thankfully, the often under appreciated Siren franchise does not sellout. Since our options have become increasingly limited these days, it is refreshing to see a game that can still provide an authentic survival horror experience. The mood and atmosphere presented here, is incredibly well executed. I always felt uneasy playing Blood Curse, which only enhanced my feelings of tension and dread. The shibito are very disturbing, and provide many panic inducing moments. The village is dark and creepy, the buildings suffer from rust and neglect. The hospital sequence was especialy unnerving! The sound effects are very convincing, and the score will send shivers up your spine. I really enjoyed the episodic structure of the game too.
