I have been a wrestling fan nearly all my life. I've played every game from WWF Raw on the SNES to No Mercy on the N64 to Day of Reckoning on the Gamecube to every single SvR title, and I have to say this one rates up there with the best. I was skeptical in buying this, however, as I have become a TNA fan in the past couple years since WWE TV has been CRAP...but that's another story. Needless to say though, I was pleasantly surprised by this release.

Not much has changed since last year's SvR release. The only changes are now you can have more customizable abilities with the real-life superstars, create entrance videos, create storylines, and create flying finishers. There isn't anything much more to mention besides those things, and everything else is pretty much the same as 2009. Now what makes this game better than the other titles is that, as you would expect, everything from the graphics to the sound to the flow of things has been slightly improved. No surprise there.

There are, however, some very annoying things about this game that I must mention. For one, when you download superstars that other people made, you cannot edit their entrance nor their moveset. I could give a damn about their entrance, but people who are lazy and just give the people they make no thought at all besides appearance is quite disappointing. And the worst part is you can't even tell what their finishers are until you download them and attempt to play them in the game. Plus when it comes to created superstars, you cannot copy a superstar who is level 99 and make a bunch of them. Kind of lame when you have to level up every single wrestler you decide to make. Also, the flying finisher maker is absolute crap. Basically no matter what move you make it's going to be a really retarded-looking splash. This looks more like designing a dive into a pool for someone in the Olympics than a wrestling move.

My last couple gripes have to do with the in-match action. The targeting system on this game is HORRIBLE. Remember back on 2007 where you could target someone else just by running at them if nothing else? Well on here you can't even do that. It's complete BS. Secondly, they made it so it's almost impossible to do a top rope move onto an opponent who's lying on the mat. For some reason your opponents on this game get up far more quick than they ever did in past games. I cannot tell you how many times I've climbed the turnbuckle only to reach the top as the other guy gets up to one knee.

On the whole, however, this is far from a bad game. With the exception of the CAW options, a couple in-game mechanics, and the damn flying finisher maker...this game is probably the best so far. The superstars look better than ever, and you can change them in accordance to how things progress in real life. I applaud WWE and THQ for making a good wrestling game, but they need to go back to basics and make the CAWs much better.

Stamina. It's a term that is incredibly relevant to everything related to the wonderful world of WWE. It's the difference between mid-card and main event, the change from jobber to superstar, and the proof that longevity breeds a successful career. Take a look at Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, and even Triple H just to name a few. After being in the industry for years upon years, they still pull out all the stops, put their bodies on the line and keep on doing it for the fans. The WWE Smackdown franchise is the video game equivalent, and with sequels now in the double figures spanning three generations of consoles, we're very pleased to say that the 2010 edition of WWE Smackdown vs. Raw is indeed one of the best wrestling games not only of the series, but of all time.

Why, do you ask?

Creativity. Creative freedom oozes out of WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 in a way never seen before; sure, you've always been able to create your own superstars and recently even create your own finishers, modify the roster and so on. Hardcore wrestling fans have always been wanting just that little bit more, and that little bit more ladies and gentlemen is the ability to create your own story lines. How many times have you sat down with your mates and discussed what you think should happen with superstar interactions and the week-to-week narrative, discussing who deserves a push and contemplating possibilities for serious character development? We've done it endlessly over the many years we've been watching WWE, and the ability to put it all there on the screen in front of us and watch our work play out in front of our very eyes is, quite frankly, all kinds of awesome.

From the incredibly detailed Create-a-Superstar mode (which loads a bit faster this year, by the way) to the Create-a-Finisher mode which is also far more detailed than usual with the ability to add diving finishers too, you can tailor make everything just how you want it to be. Entrances have always been a highlight in showing off the presentation of the WWE games, and here you can create your entrance right down to the specific lighting cues and music that plays; for a film-makers touch, you can even edit together snippets from your matches to make a custom entrance movie that plays on the titan tron. If anyone says there isn't enough options in this game, we'll slap them down and spit on them, because we're almost wondering how they crammed so many options onto a disc.

The greatest thing about all of this content that you can create is that you are able to share it online with the rest of the world. The fact that you can upload your own storylines and download other ones to play through means that the content is potentially infinite if it's embraced by the community; and to be honest, the system is so easy and fun to use that we can't see why it wouldn't be embraced wholeheartedly. Being able to download each others created superstars also will extend the longevity of the game as there is the ability to constantly keep your roster fresh with new characters and therefore, more strategies. While we're sure there will be some unique creations, it's going to be handy to download superstars that have been created based on real-life counterparts from those created players who want to play as their favourite new superstar or legend from the past.

Road to Wrestlemania mode, a story mode designed specifically with a handful of particular characters in mind. These are a lot of fun to play, and range from playing as Mickie James all the way to the other end of the spectrum, playing as a desperate Shawn Michaels who refuses to give up and retire. More importantly, you can now take your created superstars through this special mode, starting out as a fan that gets insulted by Santino while sitting in the front row and playing through the narrative from there. There are moments in this mode where you have to make decisions that alter the path in the story, and there are also special match conditions you can meet such as winning in a certain way or using a certain move which goes towards unlocking more goodies for yourself later.

The presentation in WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 is top notch this time around as well. While it's always been said that the games try to be as close to the real thing as possible, it's 2010 that more than ever proves that it's certainly not far from the truth. Replacing some loading screens are the logos of company and show copyright pops up at the end of matches as your superstar celebrates in the ring. There are even more subtle touches to the presentation, including actual reactions from superstars outside the ring after they've been eliminated from the Royal Rumble, and the HUD has been replaced with a simple circle around your superstars feet which lets you know how much momentum you have, so that you can time your trademark moves and finishers.

Gameplay has also been refined for the better, moving to just the one reversal button rather than using both the shoulder buttons. The timing of each counter really needs to be more precise, and it just feels more natural when counters do occur rather than just picking a side and mashing it in the hope that you are predicting whether your foe is using a striking or a grappling move. There are also a few new moves in there for good measure, and the mechanic for kicking out has moved into a mini-game of timing rather than being merely about bashing the control pad. The Royal Rumble has copped some serious upgrading in terms of how to eliminate people also, with timing-based mini games replacing the old formula which essentially was frustrating and cheap if you were ganged up on by the AI at any point. And finally, the Championship Scramble has been added as a match mode, where (for those who don't know) the title can change hands as many times as necessary over a period of either 5, 10 or 20 minutes, with the winner being the last person holding the belt at the end.

The bottom line here is of course that WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 isn't a perfect game, but there isn't a serious need to go over the flaws when it's such a big step forward for the franchise overall. There are so many improvements that it stands out as one of the most successful wrestling games of all time, and easily the best of this generation. The creativity that it allows you is unmatched, and the fact that you can share your stories and creations with the world means that the game could effectively last you forever, and the entire game has been given an edge in presentation that genuinely makes you feel like you're watching the programming, which is not an easy thing to deliver. Improved in almost every way, this is one chunk of gaming goodness that's impossible for any true wrestling fan to ignore.

I happen to own a bunch of the Smackdowns already and had no plans of picking this one up...UNTIL I found out about the story editor mode. Then I decided to buy it and give the newest smackdown a chance.

Let me say, that while the story editor leaves a lot to be desired, it could be great. Emphasis on COULD be. Unfortunately there's a bizzare limitation they added that makes no sense at all. For some reason, you can only use your created characters up to 10 times in the full year story you have. Matches and scenarios count the same, and so if you have half of your story be scenarios, that means you can have a maximum of 5 matches with 5 scenes....for the whole year. Or worst yet, if you include 2 guys you created, that counts as 2 scenarios or matches per scenario.

This is a bizarre limitation since it wouldn't hurt the game performance to allow you to use whoever you want. I have no clue why the developers of this game would want to add such a severe limitation to a great idea. Since I got this game to develop my own characters through stories, I am frustrated and disappointed with this limitation that takes an otherwise cool idea and limits it to pointlessness.

The story editor already has its setbacks, but this is the killer. So I think I'm going to go ahead and take this game back, since the gameplay isn't improved enough from last year to be worth the high price if I'm not going to use the story editor. I'm hoping that maybe they'll make a patch to fix this problem or increase the limit on a future DLC package. If they did that, I would buy this game again. Until then, I might as well just play Smackdown 2008's GM mode, which doesn't make such an insane limit on how you use your created wrestlers.

This is the best SvR game I've ever played so far. This game can be so much better if: there's less glitches in game, A lot of limitations on the online community and in game, half-decent manual control target, features taken out again, limited editing options for CAS from online and in-game superstars, lack of support from developers (updates so far), etc. Even with all these faults, the gameplay is better, they added a lot of the little things that made the gameplay more better. RTWM is fun and entertaining, Create-A-Storyline is tons of fun, and tons of others. I'd like to give it a 3.5, but cannot give it 4 stars. Still is a great game IMO. Worth $60 for wrestling fans like me, but not worth it for other gamers.

I was scared off by the early reviews here, but I've been using this Wireless Fender Precision Bass for over a month now with my original 60GB PS3 and I have had absolutely NO PROBLEMS thus far! Connection is strong at every distance with no interruptions, the split strum and the thumb rest feel great (although my hands get tired!), the fret buttons have a great feel to it, the strap is a definite upgrade from the ones packaged with the Special Edition bundles... I'm really, REALLY happy with it.

What I think might have happened was that the first wave of these guitars were less than stellar. I bought mine after it went out of stock the first time, so I think this latest run of Wireless Precision Basses are better.

So if you love Rock Band as much as I do, you should DEFINITELY look into this guitar. It basically reinvented the game for me!

I didn't purchase the first release of this for RB2. I figured they may have gotten the bugs I'd read about taken care of. That is absolutely not the case, at least for the model I have in hand. I'm going to return it now and will update this review if the exchanged unit actually works.

The problems:

It keeps disconnecting.

It will randomly switch the FX option for no reason.

Overdrive tilt is also wonky and only works when it wants to.

It sounds like something is rattling around in there, perhaps the gyroscope or something like that is the culprit for all the problems.

Very disappointing, especially for a luxury item.

UPDATE (first review was one star): Replacement unit arrived within a day. Amazon.com's exchange service is second to none.

That said, the new unit is better than the first. However, it still has some of the exact same issues although they happen considerably less. I can usually get through about 30 minutes of playing with no problems then for no reason the connection will drop and/or the FX switch will go wonky. I'm not sure I'm going to keep the new one but I do really like the feel of the larger guitar along with the dual strum bar. I played bass guitar many years ago and the feel certainly is nice. If the connection worked like it was supposed to and the FX switch didn't randomly change itself onscreen this guitar controller would be a keeper and a 4 star rating. One star off for not having the best response time for Overdrive.

SECOND UPDATE (total of three stars): Still having the occasional disconnect and typically once a session the FX switch problem will pop up but otherwise works just fine. Very likely going to hold onto this plastic guitar despite my worries about recurring problems listed earlier in this review.

Like everyone else to review this guitar so far, I've been plagued by connection issues with this controller.

I wanted this guitar for PS3 since the XBOX 360 version came out probably a year or more ago. Given the rave reviews for the XBOX 360 version I figured there wasn't anything to worry about with this one.

Everything seemed fine as I unpacked the box, no apparent mishandling of the package. I put it together and put in the included batteries. Seemed fine until about 30 seconds into playing the first song. For no reason at all the "Overdrive Effect" menu came up and disappeared, about 3 seconds later the controller stopped responding. I pressed every button on the controller to no avail. Rockband did not recognize that the controller had been "unplugged" (as it would if any other guitar had been disconnected) and pause the game... to the contrary the game continued to play. About the time I was going to fail the song the controller connected once again and I was able to play again. This happened randomly every 30-45 seconds if not more often. Needless to say it was very frustrating.

The guitar wasn't just going idle or anything like that. I was actively playing and it would disconnect. I'd tried new name brand batteries, I'd tried hitting the "sync" button on the bottom edge of the bass, and it was just not working correctly.

So I worked with Amazon to get a replacement sent out and the replacement does it too! I don't understand how a product can get shipped out with these kind of issues. The disconnects make this controller completely unplayable.

I can tell you that the idea of this guitar is strong, I usually play Bass on expert and consistently get in the 90%+ and I could tell that the guitar would improve my playing especially on the really fast runs, but I just can't use this guitar when it won't stay connected.

I had purchased one of these around a year and a half ago (if I recall correctly) and right out of the box I started experiencing the same problems many others are complaining about with the signal dropping and the effects menu popping up in the middle of a song despite the fact I hadn't touched it. I put up with that ever since though it never really interfered so badly that it ruined my overall experience. It began several months ago to act as though the batteries were dying even though they weren't that old. The power switch would be turned on, the light surrounding the PlayStation button would flash red and then nothing. I assumed perhaps I had played the game more or longer than I had remembered or realized, but after a moment, and messing with the batteries which at the time appeared to be the 'fix', it would always come back on and work (although the effects menu pop-up problem still occurred). Then about a month ago it just refused to turn on. The light would flash and then nothing. I'd turn it off and turn it back on...same thing. I changed the batteries and same thing again. I bought brand new fresh batteries (the previous ones had been in a package sitting around for a while) and tried them and the same thing again. The red light will only flash once in a while; most of the time it does nothing. I opened it up figuring there's a loose connection somewhere, but nothing appears to be wrong inside. Frustrating to say the least.

I had heard about Mad Catz having made a new version and I really enjoy playing with the bass controller, so I decided to try again. I am happy to report that the new bass which arrived this afternoon plays perfectly. No problems whatsoever. I played through several songs and the only problem I had during that time was if and when I missed a note. No dropped signals, no effects menu pop-up. I can even tell the difference in the way this one feels compared to the original which I still have. The old one's neck always seemed flimsy to me. This one feels far more sturdy and has a different texture on the back (the old one's neck is smooth). Even the usb dongle has a different design; possibly the connection problem was located there (online forums indicate a connection issue in the older ones that is sometimes resolved by using a usb extension cable and attaching the dongle to the guitar which would tend to support that idea).

There is one thing that might worry someone who purchases one of these newer ones. The sticker on the back is still the Rock Band 2 sticker (the guitar comes in a Rock Band 3 labeled box), however the product version number is clearly a later version, so don't be discouraged. I assume Mad Catz is merely using up the stickers they had already rather than spend more on new ones just so they say "Rock Band 3".

Bottom line, with the newer versions Mad Catz seems to have corrected all the problems of earlier bass controllers. This one works great and has a great price. All the other colors are available out there, but they're at least $30 more. It looks like Amazon won't have the seafoam green much longer, so you better grab one now while you can. At this price, they won't last long.

I have to concur with the above review. I got this for my birthday this year, and was excited to use this controller to play some of the RB songs that I enjoy playing bass on. I didn't even get through one song before all the classic symptoms began to rear their ugly heads. Random Disconnects, the effects window randomly popping up, etc.

I had other concerns with this controller as well, however. First off, upon checking the branding sticker on the back of the controller, instead of saying "Rock Band 3" as I would have expected, it actually said "Rock Band 2." Also, one of the manuals that came with the controller said "Rock Band 2" in the headers. Additionally, there were scuff marks on the front and back of the bass body. As the box said "Rock Band 3" all over it, I fully believe that Mad Katz is repacking their old RB2 basses in RB3 boxes. Unacceptable.

When Rock Band 3 was announced and it was announced that Mad Katz would be creating the controllers, I had my doubts that MK would be able to rectify their old ways and make quality controllers. Those doubts have now been confirmed. I will most likely never knowingly buy a Mad Katz controller ever again.

Works well with fighters on all three current boxes (PS2, X, and Cube), but quickly makes you realize how far we've come from the classic arcade experience. Twelve years ago, I absolutely loved my Nintendo/Sega arcade style joysticks for all gaming types. But today, this bulky, one stick, eight identical buttons control can feel very alien when replacing the XBOX or PS2 handheld controls that have come to feel so natural. It's good as advertised, for arcade style fighting games (Virtual Fighter, DOA, Soul Caliber, etc...) and nostalgia, especially if you have multiple consoles and limited space. Others need not bother even considering this purchase.

This Product was fun while it lasted. With in a few game session of SF 3rd strike the joystick managed to break off and I had to use super glue to get back into the game. I also bought this mainly for my Xbox console but it just didn't want to work with my Xbox. No issues while using it with my PS2 though. Response is great with this product in comparison to my gamester arcade stick. all the points in the joystick respond with no issues...don't have to be 100% on point. all in all it was a great product while it lasted and I hope the improve on the build quality of there products

Like many people, I wanted this game to be like Team Fortress 2 but to the next level. Unfortunately, you cannot have as much fun in Brink like TF2. Obviously the game is new and not as many people own it but there should be more servers with different mods or methods of playing. For example, games like Uncharted 2, Black Ops, Killzone 3, Socom4, and others have many different ways to play. Brink has a number of mission types but it does get repetitive. As far as I know, I have not seen a Team Deathmatch type game even though you are technically in one due to the mission.

PROS

-Very good Graphics

-Cool Customizations

-Maps are large and lots to do

-The movements of the game

CONS

-Not enough weapons

-Some glitches

-Not Enough maps

A DLC will be coming out in early July (was supposed to be June) that will include 2 new maps (only)and some new content. The DLC is free for people the first 2 weeks it (the DLC) becomes available.

This game is not horrible, but it is not great. It was hyped up no doubt and should have way more content. The content in this game is about 10% of what it should be. Solutions

1. Adding at least 5 more maps

2. Adding new weapons somewhat similar to Team Fortress 2 but more modern looking. We all know the huntsman of TF2 for the sniper. Brink should have Crossbows, flamethrowers, harpoon guns, whips, chinese stars, swords, and many other items.

Cannons would be cool instead of the stupid mg nests. This game has a lot of potential but needs a serious upgrade for the weapons. Like many have pointed out the weapons are very similar even with some of the changes you make. The sniper rifles are pretty good but need more additions.

3. Needs more gamers playing on PC and others to create new servers with new mods

Just look at Team Fortress 2. They have new additions every so often with weapons and maps. Yes it has been out for a long time, but Brink runs the risk of not getting more sales and losing current gamers. This new DLC better be very good and they need to have another update about a month or two later because Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 will surely make Brink forgettable. I know they are not the same style, but people can only play so many games at once.

Team Fortress 2 is favored over Black Ops and many other newer games by many gamers. It does not have the greatest graphics but it makes that up by having a huge amount of maps and upgrades. Brink needs to follow this lead and bring more maps and weapons. Currently there are only 8 maps (2 more with DLC) and weapons are horrible before you customize them.

To people who hate this game, it may be that they really don't like it. I hated this game the first couple days I had it until I learned how to quickly upgrade the weapons. Common sense: You must go to Challenges and complete each one. When you go to the weapons selections it tells you what challenges you must complete to get the weapons. Once I upgraded my weapons I went from a one star rating to a 3 star rating.

Bottom line: This game is not as bad as people say. However there should be more interacting when playing as a team via typing or mic and more mods and other upgrades via Bethesda as I pointed out.

Thankfully I got this game for under $30 and play on PC. As for Xbox360 and PS3 I don't think you would be disappointed spending about $30 on this game. I think the price needs to drop to $30 or less for all platforms not just PC.This game would be excellent for $20 which could happens soon if the DLC is not good. People should rent the game or buy it used if you are unsure. Also keep in mind that the DLC update coming soon will be free for 2 weeks. So you need to get the game sometime during the 2 weeks that the DLC is available.

I went on very long and was a bit repetitive cuz I hope Bethesda improves this game. I also wish more people owned this game and played it like Team Fortress 2.

***** UPDATE***** 8/11/2011

I have been playing the game mainly on PC ( I also own the PS3 version but PC version is far better, especially the graphics) Nevertheless, it is still pretty fun on PS3.

So the DLC has two new maps and a few other items added for the classes. However, Splash(Bethesda) has failed to incorporate different modes in the game such as team deathmatch, capture the flag, or other modes of play. This game will probably be next to free very soon especially since the big hits (B3 and MW3) are coming out pretty soon. Nevertheless, I would still recommend this game for PC due to the better graphics and the long and fun matches between teams on a full server. When the servers are filled with human players (not bots) the game is very fun even on PS3. The matches last a lot longer and you can see what the developers wanted this game to be like. However they failed on a number of things. I will list the following recommendations that can make this game a huge hit like TF2.

1.****************** NEEDS MORE MODES OF PLAY.*******************************

2. Addition of different items every so often such as TF2 that can be purchased and some would be free.

3. Game should be made free or for $10 maximum to attract lots of gamers.

4. More maps and weapons as stated

5 A Reason to play. ( TF2 has people playing since its fun and free. But more importantly, there is something to play for. People have new items being acquired and people can dominate others in the game) Brink needs this type of stuff to make the game REWARDING if you know what I mean.

Like I said, if this is implemented this game will be one of the biggest hits on steam and the company will make lots of money selling items and just giving the game for free and building a very strong and active Brink community.

I have completed this game now on my main class engineer as well as taking another to 15 as medic, and after figuring out the point distribution I have high hopes for this game once it is online for my platform (ps3).The point system lets you max out only one character class, but does not totally punish you for changing jobs on the fly if needed. Not to reiterate the previous reviews I want to touch on what they did not.

I play Call of duty, Killzone 3 and many FPS since the early 90's. Many of my favorite FPS are what I would refer to as frag tag. Fast kills in an almost arena like atmosphere. This game is not of that model.

This is a splash damage game as they have always produced, taking a Wolfenstien / quake: Enemy territory approach to a comic like post apocalyptic universe.

I have scored it high because what it does it does well. I feel the low reviews are based on expectation. Expectation that does it no justice as it is being compared to games that are FPS but not of the same style.

The choke points that people complain about can be flanked or massed against. They are meant to cause a strategic showdown between two opposing teams and they deliver.

I am not a "fanboy" of this title, but I am a bit disappointed with the low reviews. To me many of them mirror a fictitious popular mechanics article trashing a car because it did not do well when they tried to take it out on the lake. Most of the anger is frag taggers beckoning to know why it took more than 2 shots to drop a foe, frustration due to overcoming a obstacle they expected to glide through. I understand, it's not the fast smash and grab/ Run and gun they are used to. It is like the difference in action RPG, and a Menu based RPG.

Here is the honest ending statement if you like a challenging first person shooter blending a similar play style to Unreal tournament/ Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

Then you will enjoy this game. People wanting a bad company 3/ COD 5 should wait for those titles. This is not meant to be offensive to fans of these type games I am as well but hopefully this will make people more aware of what type of title this is. Some people would love a game of this style and have been dissuaded due to "It's not COD!" type reviews. My opinion is thats all the more reason to love it, it adds to my library without adding to an army of clones.

Check out my video game review blog:

What do you get when you try to cross MAG or Team Fortress 2 gameplay with the look and feel of Borderlands and a futuristic Mad Max? Bethesda Softworks (Fallout 3, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion) and Splash Damage (Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars) hope its the next big franchise to hit consoles. The impressive art direction in the advertising campaign originally drew me to this game, but does it translate to tengaging gameplay? Now that it has dropped in price almost universally, is it something you should pick up now? Is it even worthy of it's all CAPS moniker?

The premise in BRINK is not anything we really haven't seen before, but it centers around a man-made, eco-friendly, floating city, designated The Ark, that is on the brink (get it) of Civil War. Since the oceans of the world have begun to rise to unsafe levels, The Ark has become a sort of haven for people affiliated with its original inhabitants, as well as other displaced people looking for a better life, who have to live on the outskirts. It's basically a bunch of Haves versus Have Nots. One group wants to break free of the overpopulation and desecrating conditions for the outcasts on The Ark (called The Resistance) and leave the floating city to see what the world is like beyond its walls, while the other group wants to keep the refugees in control and living in continued squalor, while they continue to benefit in The Ark (called The Security).

Upon starting the game, you have to first select and customize a character. While the customization options are ample, they aren't exactly endless. The character design is similar to Gears of War, with overexaggerated features and bulging muscles. There are four different classes of characters: Soldier, Engineer, Medic, and Operative. Obviously each has their own strengths and weaknesses and in this game you will be switching classes a lot during each level or mission, to complete objectives.

To move around, BRINK also uses whats been classified as SMART (Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain). In this, a button can be assigned to to quickly traverse across different environmental obstacles. Think of it as parkour influenced climbing, jumping, and sliding, reminiscent of Mirror's Edge. Unfortunately, much of the time, I kind of forgot about SMART and did the regular old climbing and jumping, except for the occasional slide.

I've spent quite a bit of time with this game, beating both campaigns (a total of 16 missions, but they are long missions, which turns out to be a blessing and a curse), and utilizing both solo play, as well as completing levels online with human counterparts. I get that the online component was designed to be a major selling point for BRINK, but the online community is pretty stagnant at the moment. When starting a level online, I would say that only about 25% of the time did I have another human joining me.

Gameplay

This game is quite frenetic when you first jump in. There is a lot of action going on around you and quite a bit of chatter from your teammates (which I liked initially, but then grew to hate). Initially, only one or two classes will have an objective that are pretty basic (hack this, defend this, escort this person, etc.), but the objectives increase (both primary and secondary), as you progress through the game. Just find a (or take over an opponent controlled one) command post, and you can switch classes. There is an objective wheel that is easily accessed at any time, that highlights the objectives and classes needed, so it's not too confusing. Select an objective and it'll point you in the right direction to complete it.

That's not to say that BRINK isn't fun because at times it really is. Shooting people and is almost always fun... for a while. Having the missions broken up by each side seemed like a really interesting idea, but they basically turn out to be the same levels, but just opposite objectives of each other. If the Resistance was trying to destroy something, when you play the mission as the Security, you're trying to defend the same thing you were previously asked to destroy. This doesn't flesh out the story as much as I would have hoped for, and really didn't make me pick a side I was rooting for, as if they had added totally different levels for each side.

There is a major problem with your teammates AI in the game. They are basically worthless (but every now and then surprise you with a well-placed turret), and you constantly feel like you are the only one that is able to do anything. For instance if you have to repair something and are playing solo, without human teammates, it seems like you are the only one of the class you selected that can get anything done. You have usually around 10 minutes to complete the objective, but it usually takes all 10 minutes because your teammates don't help at all. When they do decide to help, it's like a mad rush in the final minute or two. The opponents know where to congregate to protect what's needed, but it seems as if your team gets bored rather easily and leaves their mark.

Which leads me to my next problem with the game. If you die, or I should say when you die, because your opponent's ammo tends to be much more powerful than your own, you have to respawn

There are a few "what if" missions tacked on at the end, but they seem as more of an afterthought, than a critical part of the story, and are some of the shorter missions of the whole game. I recommend playing through some of the Challenge levels early on, as by completing them, you earn some upgrades for your weapons. There are 3 different types of challenges: fulfilling objectives, moving around with SMART to certain areas in a time limit, and defending, each with three levels of progressively harder levels.

Graphics

There are two distinct setting for the missions in BRINK. One is the futuristic Ark, which kind of reminded me of something out of Mass Effect. Lot's of plexiglass, neon, etc. Once the action moved away from The Ark, to Container City, I became re-interested in the game again. It's a totally different kind of look that really made me push through to finish my first half of the Campaign. There are lots of little crevices and creative shortcuts to find.

I didn't really experience any lag, when playing online, but only really connected with one other person at a time when playing the campaign. The multiplayer was solid and much more fun than playing with bots, but by the time I tried multiplayer, I was kind of burned out by the game. Sometimes when enemies died, parts of their body would be underground, or if they were standing on something and killed, seemed to be floating in mid-air.

Sound

Throughout the game you have a Commander basically talking in your ear the whole time. He gets very frustrated when things aren't going the planned way. Considering that you feel like you are a one man show on many of the levels, it get very annoying quickly.

I did find the chatter between teammates amusing. When you give supplies to another teammate, they always respond with some form of thanks. Additionally, when you have some supplies and they are needed by someone nearby, they will let you know.

Replay Value

There is a planned DLC coming soon (free for the first two weeks), which may increase the number of people playing online. Currently, there are 8 maps available for multiplayer skirmishes. I fear, however, that most players originally interested in the game have either moved on to something else or sold/traded in their copy.

Once the campaigns are completed, there is not much incentive to return to those missions. Especially the ones where your teammates seem clueless. There are some audio logs to collect, which supposedly add more to the story (or unlock a trophy/achievement when all are collected) but I didn't have an interest to find more.

There is a cap at level 20. When I finished both campaigns, I was at level 16, so I played multiplayer and replayed missions to reach the cap. There are bonuses for completing missions online (which I didn't know until about halfway through the game)

Honestly, I really wanted to like BRINK. Blending solo, co-op, and multiplayer into one somewhat seamless experience seemed innovative and intriguing. However, in the end, it wasn't done well enough to grab my interest for extended periods. Each mission is quite long, and if you don't succeed, feels arduous instead of energizing at the challenge, that you have to relive 15-20 minutes all over again.

another new IP, another disappointment [read: homefront].

first of all, if you plan on getting this for the single-player campaign, don't. there is no single player campaign.

brink's 'campaign' is simply offline multiplayer with bots [think about Killzone's 'skirmish' mode and you get the idea]. there are eight 'missions' in all and each mission can played from either the resistance or security persepctive.

unfortunately, these missions are convoluted, difficult to navigate, and even more difficut to complete because your wonky AI squad mates are essentially useless. most of the maps contain narrow corridors that result in chokepoints with 16 guys in a fifteen foot radius all doing the hokey pokey or break dancing. i was half expecting pop 'n taco to show up with a broken down cardboard box and do the electric bugaloo. and if you should die, well, you may have to wait as long as twenty seconds to respawn and then spend another 30 seconds running back to the action. in and of itself, it's not a bad thing, but since all the 'campaign' missions are timed, it's problematic.

another big complaint: weapon damage. sure, i can understand wanting to eliminate one-shot kills, but it literally takes an entire magazine to put someone down. so most of the time you're trying to find ammo or hoping one of your squad mates buffs you some. good luck with that.

sure, you have four quadrillion customization options, but if you're playing from a first-person perspective, who even cares? you can't see all your fancy face paint, head gear, and outfits [unless you're in the menus], so why bother?

instead of a great new shooter, you've got a great new $60 digital costume closet. congratulations.

if splash damage had spent as much time with the gameplay as they did with the customizations, they might have had something. unfortunately, as is the case with so many shooters these days, the game ships with skimpy content and we undoubtedly await the first $15 "map pack" in about a week or two.

it's getting downright insulting.

Want Brink Discount?

I avoided Brink at first due to poor reviews, but as the price got a lot cheaper, I decided to give it a try. Since I've only started playing it, and am nowhere near an expert on it I'm just going to comment on what I've experienced with the game. As a first person shooter, I didn't find it very satisfying. First of all, I'm amazed at how difficult it is to actually kill the enemy. Even at point blank range, it takes what seems as too many bullets to take someone down. Then, your downed enemy often isn't dead, but will rise right back up to kill you if you don't go and finish him off. Meanwhile, the action, which is pretty much non-stop, sometimes makes it difficult to even do this. Also, the actual aiming and shooting process just isn't as much fun as many other 1st person shooters that I have played. I want to like this and have played the first few missions on it, but I just can't see myself sticking with it. However, If you like non-stop, fast paced action, it certainly does deliver on that. It's frenetic pace does sometimes lead to confusion as what to do next, or exactly what is going on at the moment. I was hoping for a little more stealth and discovery, rather than the constant run and gun action. I could deal with the run and gun action if the actual shooting was a little more rewarding. I'm just glad I didn't pay $60 for it when it came out.

The product description says: "easily positioned, applied without air bubbles"

Product 3/5: It isn't bad and looks nice when it's in place. Not so easy to put this thing anyway.

For a deceptive description 1/5: This skin left bubbles, no matter what you do, it leaves bubbles all over the place and isn't "easily positioned". The only good thing is that effectively this skin doesn't create a mess when removed.

So, overall a 2/5 counting the very high price (18 bucks) for what it is. There are better options with a reasonable price out there.

I've shopped at Amazon for many years; I've never written a review. In fear that many would pass up this gem in favor of bigger budget, more highly publicized titles, I've decided to break that record.

If you're an "old school" gamer like myself, you may remember the Spec Ops series as (mostly) buggy and nearly unplayable budget titles dating back to the late nineties. Yager and 2K Games have changed all of that, and oh, it's sooooo for the better.

Spec Ops: The Line stars off with all of the ingredients of many third person shooters. There's a generous helping of rock music on the soundtrack, a sprinkling of one liners, etc. By now (if you play many action games) I'm sure you can recite the cliches in your sleep. Then the flavor starts to change. Spec Ops has been touted from the beginning as a story focused game. Yeah, yeah; I'd heard the same thing about Homefront. There's where the comparisons end; Spec Ops has an amazing story (which ends up being the main draw of the game).

STORY:

If you've seen the trailers, you know that Delta Force Captain Martin Walker (voiced by the always amazing Nolan North) and his squad (Lugo and Adams) are sent into a Dubai ravaged by sandstorms in order to recon the failed evacuation of the city (carried about by one U.S. Military Colonel John Konrad). What follows are a series of twists and turns that display all of the confusion, depravity, and destruction of war. You as the player even get to participate by making decisions; Who will you save, and who will you let die? But there's no morality meter here. KOTOR this is not. You'll quickly see that most decisions have negative outcomes, and instead of getting some alignment specific piece of gear for your choices, you're treated to something much more real: Walker and his squad actually react to those decisions. This is the brilliant part of the writing; you as the player are made to think about the abstract forces behind those decisions. You try to determine if an action is still evil if it could potentially save people. Would you sacrifice a civilian to save a critical resource that could potentially save more lives? What makes a person responsible for an action? How far would you go to be safe? Do you feel like a hero yet? All the way to one of the games four endings (multiple endings in an action game!) you'll see the characters grow, and struggle, and change. I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say that rarely does any art medium delve into such disturbing territory (and it is very disturbing at times) so successfully. It out-Conrads Conrad. Non of this would work if not for the presentation of it all; thankfully the pacing and detail of the experience are both stellar. Remember that rock music and those one liners? Those are soon gone, replaced by an atmospheric soundtrack and meaningful dialogue between characters. There are no throwaway lines; everything has purpose. Not only do the character models change to reflect battle damage as you progress, but the way the squad calls out enemies or responds to orders changes too (not to mention the change in the loading screen tips later on: "How many Americans have you killed today?"). They act like real people and not stock characters. I forgot I was playing a game in my living room. In short: Amazing.

Graphics:

This is the Unreal 3 engine, so expect texture pop in. Particle effects are also lacking. Everything else looks great; the character models are very detailed, and the environments look great. Speaking of the locations, there are a wide variety of environments to fight through. The outdoor wasteland (complete with great looking sand...no, seriously) looks bleak while the insides of hotels, malls, etc. are plucked right from the streets of Dubai. They're tacky in an opulent way (and very shiny). The refugee areas are unsettling while looking lived in. The weapon models aren't too shabby either.

Sound:

The experience could have fallen flat so easily if the acting would have done the same. It doesn't. Every actor captures each line note perfect with Nolan North doing a standout job. Is there anything this guy can't do? The soundtrack is suitably creepy or adrenaline pumping as needs be. It works well. The sound effects also get the job done, and it's nice to see even small bits of environmental detail provided with a sound effect in order to draw the player into the experience.

Gameplay:

This is a cover based third person shooter; it doesn't do anything revolutionary. Having said that, it is more than serviceable and very fun. You have a large arsenal of weapons and grenades available, a dedicated melee button, and the rest of the bells and whistles of the genre. Ammo is scarce though which enhances the experience. Oh, and the execution animations for downed enemies are brutal. You can also give limited orders to your squad (shoot this enemy, heal your mate, and/or throw a flash bang). It helps out during tough firefights (and there are several), but keep in mind this isn't a squad centered realistic shooter like Rainbow Six or SWAT. The multiplayer is average and pretty by the numbers in terms of modes.

This game was worth a sixty dollar purchase to this reviewer if only because it does something most games do not: it provides a detailed story unafraid to go to those dark places we all try to ignore. It is more than a novelty; it makes you think about what really matters and how we even know if it matters. Luckily, there's a fun third person shooter to experience along the way. The horror; the horror. (Couldn't resist)

Spec Ops the Line on the surface appears to be like your typical cover based third person shooter. The main characters of this story like many in this genre are an elite group of soldiers. The player takes on the role of Captain Martin Walker the leader of a three man Delta Force team made up of 1st Lieutenant Alphanso Adams (a heavy gunner) and Staff Sergeant John Lugo (a marksman and translator whose fluent in six languages).

The three are sent on a reconnaissance mission in the United Arab Emirates specifically to the city of Dubai which was devastated 6 months prior by a sandstorm. The objective on the surface is familiar territory for anyone who's ever played a third person shooter. The three man delta team is sent into a foreign country to locate survivors, deal with insurgents, and to find out the fate of the 33rd Battalion of the United States army which went missing while evacuating the city of Dubai.

To achieve these goals the player will be able to engage in standard cover based third person shooter game mechanics. This means that the player will be able to use high tech weapons and vehicles. The player will also be able to use team based strategies to overcome enemies and a cover system to safely advance forward in situations where there's heavy fire.

There are some very important things that set this game apart from others in its genre. The first one I'll discuss is this game's unconventional take on war. War in most third person shooters is treated as something fun, manly, and entertaining. Also the enemies aren't portrayed as much more than an effective way to test out different types of guns, knives, and bombs. This consistent static portrayal of enemies makes it easy to go through countless games in this genre without a second thought about torturing/killing enemies. This is not the case in spec ops. War is portrayed in a much more realistic and mature manner especially since the enemy is no longer a bunch of unimportant goons. In this game the enemy is portrayed as other human beings with thoughts, feelings, loved ones, whose life also has value.

Another thing that sets this game apart from other third person shooters is the gripping storyline. It is filled with enough twists, turns, and moral dilemmas to keep even the most jaded gamer interested from the beginning to the end. Nothing is as simple as it first appears to be. In fact this story and the way it is presented is so effective you will have no choice but to turn on your brain and emotions and question if what you're doing is really the right thing or the wrong thing to do as you realize your actions as the leader has far reaching consequences for your character, his team, and the people around them. This deep-emotional storytelling also makes it possible for this game to have 4 possible endings.

Also this game effectively uses weather and the terrain to provide both obstacles and a new way to engage enemies which adds a lot of flavor to the combat.

I highly recommend this game. It is a breath of fresh air in an over-crowded genre that's becoming increasingly generic. This game is also visually stunning, with exceptional voice acting, and sound. It is definitely worth the money and the effort to play the game from the beginning to the end.

I have been waiting for this game for a long time.

Pros:

I really liked the setting in Dubai. The randomness of the sandstorms and the ability to use sand as a weapon make the combat very enjoyable.

The story of this game is one of the best I have played in a long time.Everything you do effects the game and your AI squad. There is no right or wrong in this game. The creepy DJ was a great part of the game as was the intel found throughout the levels of the game. This game really does portray the horrors of war and the human suffering. There are many twist to this game. That motivated me to play until I finished the game.

Music was great in this game some old some new. Most of the songs really got me into the level I was playing.

Voice acting was top notch with Nolan North great as always.I liked that one had to conserve ammo in Dubai.

Not to worry there is plenty to pick up from defeated enemies.I liked doing executions on enemies in hand to hand combat.I really liked when you threw a grenade it would make a dust cloud to blind enemies.

Cons:

Graphics were very dated but good.Frame rates were smooth and no glitches.

The backgrounds were done well and looked great. But enemies all looked the same and not much detail in them.

The cut scene graphics looked good.

AI could have been better.Don't get me wrong one had to take cover or else.Enemies had the habit of running in the open. And squad mates would do the same at times.

Sound was ok,the music sounded great but sometimes the voice acting was very faint.I had to turn up the TV to hear stuff. Then turn it down for combat.Explosions were very dull. The cover system was spotty my advice go into cover on your own.It took me 12 hrs to beat the game on hard the campaign could have been longer IMHO.

Online:I have very poor service in my area so I could not play online.

Overall/Final thoughts

Even with dated graphics and spotty sound this is a good solid 3rd person shooter with a great soundtrack.

It is worth getting this game for the story and multiple endings. With hidden intel items and the choices you have to make. This game has a High replay value for me.

Even with the short campaign it was a intense experience for me.It was nice to see a game show how in war there is a fine line and a breaking point in all people. How a split second choice can effect you and others.

As a Iraq combat Vet I know how that feels.

I recommend this game highly for the story and action. It has it's faults but was worth it to me.

If you don't want to spend the money rent it or buy it used.I think all gamers will enjoy this game.

And learn what the mental toll can be on a Soldier.

Final grade 4 stars.

Make no mistake, you are not the hero of this game. You'll start out feeling that way, but by the end of the game you're thinking that all of those people would have been better off if you'd never arrived. It's like the way you felt in Shadow of the Colossus, when you realised what a jerk you were for killing all of those previously-peaceful creatures.

The game does have a few control issues and can get frustrating in some battles, but it is standard 3rd-person shooter gameplay. The difference here is the environment, story and tone. It also has 4 possible endings, determined by what you do in the final minutes. You can try for the other 3 endings quickly via the chapter-select menu after completing the game once, there's no need to play the entire game multiple times to see them. For the price it's currently being offered for, this is a worthwhile purchase.

Great game they really have a great story. I have been really disappointed it modern war games campaign but spec ops the line has a better campaign then its multiplayer. I think multiplayer will improve over time. I love what Yager and 2k are doing as far as s free dlc pack in August to me that shows they really care and want there fans to be happy with the game. To me the game is a great game the multiplayer could use some work. I would pay 60 bucks for this again.

The one-star review is complete rubbish; the author obviously misread the word "charges" and thought this bundle would come with an extra $80 worth of peripherals, so he decided to take his own mistake out on Amazon and Dreamgear. I've purchased the Dreamgear 6-1 bundle with the gloves; you can read my review over on that page to check it out: . I normally wouldn't post a review in this manner, and I hope it's not taken as disingenuous, but I felt I had to be fair to the company and amend the other reviewer's unfairness. Look, you know exactly what you're getting in these bundles; this one happens to come with cables (and I hope someone comes along to fill in the blank on the headset). I have the charger and it's an excellent one, though you should keep in mind that the LEDs are very, very bright and there's only room to charge one Move controller on the cradle (if you want to charge two others, you have to use the USB ports in back of the charger).

I have had this item for a week now. I love the charge station! I keep my cell phone charger plugged into one USB slot, my wireless headset plugged into the other. It has it's own power supply so EVERYTHING IS ALWAYS CHARGED FOR ME, even if I haven't turned my !! No more picking controller up and it's dead.. headset dying 10 minutes into a game... looking for an open outlet to plug cell phone into.

Even when something does die(I game for 12-14 hours straight A LOT), the 10ft USB charging cable is great to keep me in the games!

I have the HDMI cord in use also. Maybe a slight improvement over my cheap HDMI from Wal-Mart. I can't testify one way or the other though... My eyes don't get strained as easily now it seems.

Definite recommendation

Honestly, I only bought this game because it was the only two player ps3 game I was able to afford. It wasnt fun. The graphics are not very good and the story is not entertaining. If you are playing by yourself then the game is worse. The fun thing about the game is when you are playing with friends and you laugh together about something funny or dumb that happened in the game. Since the price was good (I bought it used from a seller on amazon), I guess it was sort of worth it.

I have two stepboys, ages 11 and 12. They CONSTANTLY fight. I only have them every other weekend. It is a struggle to find a game they will both like. Typically, I end up getting two different games. With this game, you can have two players. My boys played this game for about 45 minutes together.... AS IN WORKING TOGETHER... One doing the mission, one protecting the other. WOW!! Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that would happen! This game allows you to play multiple characters and you HAVE to in order to accomplish certain missions. Ok, I read some of the other reviews about this game, and I just don't understand why there are people that are saying its a bad game. Its really not at all, in fact, its one of the best movie based games I have ever played. The graphics on the PS3 are fantastic, and I haven't played through the whole game just yet, but so far I am impressed with the character lineup and the story. The battle sequences are a little dull, but that's no problem (for me anyways).

At first you get to play either a Minotaur, a Dwarf, a Centaur, and a Fawn. I'm sure theres more but like I said, I haven't gotten too far in the game yet, so I don't know (I have only played single player mode so far as well).

I was debating on what system to get this game for, since I have all the systems its available for, and I got it for PS3. I'm pretty sure I made the right choice, because the graphics are pretty impressive for a game based on a movie.

All in all, if you like games based on movies, then this is a good buy, especially if you're a Narnia fan :)

Love this stand, perfect for two moderately heavy plastic guitars. The construction is very flimsy but as long as you are not running into it, it will hold the guitars. You do need to watch out for the holding hooks, they swivel a bit and if they are not pointing towards the ceiling a rounded guitar or any plastic guitar will slide right off the hook. You will not find a better looking stand that works for less than this stand.

The stand looked like a compact way to store 2 guitars, but it is very cheaply made and is too light weight. If you only put 1 guitar in the back, it starts to tip over. The guitars don't stay upright, they want to tip sideways and fall over. Should be something on either side of the guitar necks to hold them up.

The stand is ok, If you have an angled guitar like we do it takes one of the extra hooks away therefore leaving only one for a third guitar. So we have a four guitar holder thats only able to hold two. At least it does hold those though

Overall great controller. The controller works well. I got this controller as a second controller for my ps3. It is comfortable to use and works well for the purpose. If you are looking for a good wired controller I would recomend this one.

My son and I inadvertently switch between this MadCatz PS3 Wired Gamepad Controller and the Sony wireless one that came with the PS3. To us they are exactly the same, except of course that one is wireless and the other isn't. But that is what I wanted, something less expensive but the next best thing. The USB cable on the controller is a couple of inches over 8 feet, but that is fine we sit within this distance anyway. If I wanted to sit further I would just use a standard USB extension cable. I also like this controller because it is a direct USB connection to the PS3. It also has good vibration.

I four star rating is very accurate.

The controller isn't cheap, or cheaper than the ps3 remote.

it works well but the home button has many issues,

1. can't turn on the console

2. when you press it to access the home screen you can't press it again to turn off the home-screen.

Its just as sturdy as the ps3 remote, and although it feels different, its still easy to just pick up.

The controller can be a little over sensitive though but I really do recommend it as a back up controller

for which I bought it.
