This is a review of the Dead Island Riptide Rigor Mortis Edition for PS3. Please excuse the fact that I did not purchase this from Amazon, but from my local Gamestop.Ok to start with I have only played Riptide for about an hour now, but I can say that it is tons of fun. The variety of weapons this time around is improved a lot from the original, my current inventory after just a mission or two on the island is a knife, wrench, nail plank, flare gun, and nail gun, with many more awesome weapon options available from sellers right off the bat. Graphics are a bit better in Riptide, at least during the day, very beautiful scenery, my only complaint is some screen tearing here and there. All in all some excellent zombie smashing action!

Now for the R.M. edition items: The game and items are packaged in a VERY nice mini suitcase. I had originally thought that the suitcase was made of metal, but in reality it actually looks and smells like leather! Very nice quality with brass studs and working latches. My only complaint is one of the brackets holding the handle on mine has a screw that was put in at an angle, not a big deal. The suitcase also has travel decals and the dead island logo on both sides.

The bungalow key is ok, looks brass but is a bit smaller than I expected, however the plaque it's attached to is real wood with the dead island logo, very nice touch I expected plastic.

The zombie arm bottle opener seems pretty sturdy, I haven't used it yet, but it's metal. SILVER with some red paint and the dead island logo. Also has two magnets on the back. Good for a fridge?

Last is the zombie hula bobble figure. It's bigger than I expected, clocking in at a little over 5 inches. It sways just like it should, mounted on a vehicle dash it should look great. The paint job is good overall, the mouth on mine looks a little weird I think because they were trying to show blood around lipstick maybe? On the downside the skirt on mine seems to be coated in some sort of clear coating, which right out of the package was sticky. The rest of the figure is fine though.

On a side note if this is pre-ordered or even if you act fast you might be able to snag the limited edition steel book for the game which is flat out AWESOME! Probably the best steelbook case I have ever seen.

This is the first Collector's Edition of a game that I have ever purchased. Since I have yet to pop the game into my PS3, this will strictly be a review of the Rigor Mortis Edition itself. From the moment I opened the box, I was very impressed! The suitcase is about the size of a lunchbox. It's solid and is lined with black felt. The "stickers" on the outside give it that travelled feel. It's wrapped in what I can only assume is pleather but, for the price and the feel, it works. It does have abit of a strange smell to it that may turn some folks off. It's a mix of new luggage and new car smell but very strong. If strong scents like that bother you then I suggest air-rating the suitcase out for abit. It shouldn't linger over time. The zombie bobble hula doll is creepy and adorable. It's not very big but it is detailed. The bottle opener/magnet zombie hand is pretty neat. It's a little too heavy and solid to put on the fridge. Since I didn't want it to fall and break, I put it with the rest of the set on my bookshelf. The room key is a cute addition. It's got a plywood sort of tag to it, so I wouldn't go attaching it to your house keys as I am sure it would break in no time, but for a display piece it get's the job done. Along with the DLC codes that came with this edition, I say it's a solid purchase, and well worth the extra money. The only other thing I suggest investing in to really make the game all it can be is the Brady Games guide. Feel free to check out my review of that book for all the details. I bought the rigor mortis eddition because it was on super sale. The stuff inside is kind of cool for about five minutes and then you get kind of bored of all the Hulu dolls and can openers. The game is fun itself it pretty much is just the first game with a slightly different plot. This game is still very glitchy like the first game

I Encountered more glitches in this game than I did in the first one. No glitches that will stop the game it just seems like I can kick enemies through walls or sometimes the menus will layer on top of each other. Two things I really don't like about this gameplay unlike the first one is the zombies do not drown and the fact I can't Kick enemies through walls and hurt them. If you like the first game. You will definitely still gonna love the second game with all the zombies lashing hacking is always fun, but don't expect anything completely revolutionary Or really much This game is really just feels like the first game continued on. Overall I would give it 3 1/2 stars. Get your hands on the rigor mortis edition for cheap I still suggested if you're a fan of the first dead Island. if you really don't care either way then maybe just buying the game itself would be best

I liked Riptide, played it through to the end and it was a zombie game. Pretty ok stuff but nothing to write home about. It was like they are on the verge of something great but can't make that final push. That being said, the collectors edition Rigor Mortis Edition is awesome. You get some really cool stuff including the cool travel box, the steel case and several other goodies that round out the collection. As stated in other reviews, it is a great collection. It is a great addition to my collectors editions and I really like it.
