Stormrise is a very good game! The characters and their dialog are terrible, but when your past that you will have a blast playing this RTS (Real Time Strategy). Allot of people who have reviewed this game have given it a bad review because they have compared this game to command and conquer and halo wars (both great games). They need to under stand that this is so different than those two games. The games mechanics are very easy to use and the new "whip select" method I LOVE it, this allows you to easily and quickly change from one unit to the next by just slapping the analog stick in the direction of the unit you want to command. They also allow you to use indirect command to allow you to advance with allot of units instead of one at a time.

Graphicsthis game has a good amount of detail for a RTS, the walls the characters and the environment all look really well and this is the first RTS game I have played where the building are actually with in a realistic scale to the troops and vehicles.

Game playThe game is so easy to just get lost in the power of commanding your army and hours will fly by as you build your nodes with turrets, shields, refineries, and warp gates. Then use the energy these nodes create to buy infantry, elite soldiers, sentinel snipers, Combat vehicles, sentinel scouts, tanks, aircrafts, and commanders in power suites. As you begin to build your army you want to keep control of your nodes, have snipers on the roofs, and sentinel surrounding the parameter to keep a solid fortress. Then have your troops advance on a enemy node to capture it and turn it to your advantage until all node are yours. This can be very fun as you have the ability to switch to any of your units in a flick of the analog stick just as you see the enemy has a huge army storming its way to retake the nodes and then you have a real battle on your hands. The only thing that is a little bothersome is the camera control but its a minor problem.

SoundOne of my most favorite things is the music. As the battle heats up the sick guitar driven metal music kicks in making you wants to tear apart the enemy and take all they have. Sound fx are decent and are nothing that stands out from what I can tell so far.

MultiplayerThis game allows for you to take your domination online to your friends or strangers which is a very tense experience because you now have what could be a lesser, equal, or greater opponet(s) against you so you will never know until your teams collide in combat. For practice you can play skirmish mode were you can play the AI in any map or setting just like online.

OverallI purchased this item brand new for $30 against what all the reviewers gave this game and I am so glad I did, this will be a game that I will enjoy for a long time. If you don't have this game, pick it up ( Its only $30!!!) and you will have a very good RTS for the console side of this genre. I give this gave five stars because I believe that a 4 is too low. out of 10 I give this game a very solid 8.5

AWESOME GAME-8.5/10 *****

If you give Stormrise a chance you'll find its a very enjoyable rts. I like its slower pace and huge environments with battles taking place on tops of towering skyscrapers all the way deep down to the depths of underground parking garages, this make Stormrise an excellent addition to anyones gaming collection.

It really adds more strategy and makes the player fight for every inch of ground to advance so don't expect short battles or cheap tactics like "rushing" to work in this game because you'll end up dead.

The graphics are very nice and right up there with Endwar, but everything's on a much larger scale in this game. No more tiny little buildings not much bigger than a tank, cityscapes have finally been done perfectly in Stormrise with its huge towering skyscrapers...

The game has a few flaws but nothing that can't be patched later.

The controls aren't game breaking, infact they are very similar to Endwar to some extent.

Stormrise is ambitious, innovative and alot of fun,I recommend buying this game.

the games has its flaws (more than others) but with practice and some luck lol its a different experience and maybe with some patching could be a really fun game

This game tries to bring up to date the starcraft/warcraft type games from the PC to the PS3 platform. I have played it for a while. The controls take getting used to and some maps are hard to navigate. The action sometimes happens so fast you never get a chance to respond you can be fighting on multiple fronts and miss a lot of things. This means you are relegated to setting up strong defenses and only sending out one sortie at a time.

The plot line sounds fantastic but I would have enjoyed cinematic transitions more and more development of the plot.

I give it 3.5 stars but if you are a die hard starcraft fan you might consider it a 4 star title

This game is great overall. As a long time fan of Tekken, I must admit I came in very skeptical, even hated the game after the first hour or so, however, after playing it more and giving it a legitimate chance, I'd recommend it to anyone.

What's Good:

A good array of fighters, each one very unique, you never feel like Fighter X is just a palette swap of Fighter Y.

Physics engine is finally at a point where the game is not an absurd juggle-fest, this has been my biggest critique as long as I've known about the game.

Grapplers can actually grapple! Thanks to "buffering" and 0-frame throws the game is not rediculously unbalanced between the strikers and grapplers.

Graphics are spectacular

Great variety of arenas

The Bad:

Characters do not have stories

No FMVs

A.I. ranges from rediculously easy to rediculously hard

It takes forever to unlock items

Overall, I highly recommend this to PS3 owners, but I will be honest, once Tekken 6 comes out I probably won't play this as much.

Scrubs and button mashers beware. You'll start this game up play for 15 minutes without doing anything worthwhile and go "THIS GAME SUCKS!" and return to your mortal kombat or Dead or Alive. You're just too impatient to learn a quality fighter. You can't just pick this game up and be knock heads. You have to train a bit. Each character has a distinctive style and all the major martial art styles, even some that aren't real martial arts (luchadore and american wrestling) are represented. This game is the most well balanced fighter as well. Unlike most fighters with 2 or 3 really good characters and a mediocre remaining cast, Virtua Fighter 5 contains the most well balanced character roster of any fighter. Attacks that open up the potential for big damage aren't safe and can be punished by evade or after guarding (Usually by throws, Unless the opponent buffers escapes (It can get deeper still).) In the most popular fighting game in America, Tekken 5, big damage moves are safe on block and can lead to boring overly defensive gameplay, with each player dashing back just waiting for whiffed moves. In VF5 if you turtle you're going to get punished. This series isn't for everybody, but it is for those that want the deepest 1 on 1 experience in fighting. The game really shines when playing against other experienced players.

If you think a fighting game needs a storyline or CGI movies then plz pass on this game. The main point of this game is playing to your potential.

This is an immensely entertaining game. Perhaps the most impressive aspect is the range of skill levels it accomodates; huge, immediate fun for the casual gamer yet impressive depth for those who take their Virtua Fighting seriously. Coming from a family with extensive Real World Martial Arts experience, it is fascinating to explore the strengths and weakness of the various characters. Just as in the real world of martial arts a small, skilled opponent can take out a big brute---but you better practice! The game is very well-balanced; any character can be a stud or dud, depending on your skill level.

After a long day at work, what could be more fun than powering up the PS3 and beating the tar out of "Jeffry," the obnoxious Australian Pancratium expert? I tell you, he deserves every thumping he gets!

Some magazine reviews have bemoaned the lack of on-line play. In a perfect world, yes, on-line would be a nice addition. But this is the ultimate fast muscle twitch game. Often the winner is determined by a last-moment, split-second kick. The quality of game play would suffer over the internet. So enjoy Virtua Fighter 5 for what is is: a gorgeous, highly replayble adrenalin-pumping slugfest.

SEGA's Virtua Fighter carries a legacy that only the blue hedgehog can rival. Akira, Wolf, Sarah you've seen them in one form or another, whether it's the blocky polygonal models from the original or the immaculately detailed PlayStation 3 ones. Does this legacy fall far from the tree?

Virtua Fighter 4 was a critical success on the PlayStation 2, with a global average of 91% in its original form and 91.4% in the revised form, Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution. In fact, it sits just under Soul Calibur 2 (91.6%) as the all-time highest-rated PS2 fighting game. History lesson aside, Virtua Fighter 5 does little to improve upon its PS2 predecessor, but it really doesn't need to. Fans of the PS2 game will find two new fighters and improved gameplay and graphics to boot. Cover boy Akira is joined by his entire set of Virtua Fighter 4 peers and newcomers El Blaze and Eileen. El Blaze, a luchadora, uses fancy wrestling moves while Eileen hops around a whole lot and utilizes what I considered cheaper hits than other characters. My personal favorite was the bald monk Lei-Fei.

Fighting is a breeze for newcomers and series vets alike. I can't say how grateful I am for this, because Virtua Fighter 4 wasn't so accessible and as a result I personally didn't appreciate it as much as my critical peers. On the PS3 pad, X serves as a punch button while Circle kicks and Square blocks. The triggers act as shortcuts for combinations of those three buttons, making special moves easier to execute. Combos are simple and flow together well, giving Virtua Fighter 5 a feel that is more similar to Dead or Alive than other fighting games. Fights tend to last longer than in other games, since the default settings require you to win three rounds, not two out of three, but three rounds, meaning close fights extend into five rounds.

Quest Mode is where it's at in this game; the mode is essentially a recreation of the experience of traveling to different arcades and challenging players on a machine. To start you create a profile and choose your preferred character, and then the Quest world is open to explore. There are several different arcades with "players" of different skill levels, so there is a feeling of progression as you go from one arcade to the next, improving in your ranking and piling up wins. Winning matches and tournaments in the different arcades will earn you money and items to customize your character and beef out your profile. Not only is it addictive to collect items and personalize fighters, it's very difficult to stop trying to improve your rank and dominate different arcades.

Unfortunately, Quest mode is the only attention-grabber. The Arcade and Versus modes are very generic and don't offer anything you haven't seen before. There's a VF TV mode, which is entirely worthless-it lets those with HDTVs and HDMI cables appreciate their expensive commodities by watching two CPU-controlled characters battle. Virtua Fighter 5's biggest flaw is its lack of PS3 online play. With Quest mode being such a focus and character customization being a bit part of that, I find the lack of at least some sort of online profiling to be inexcusable on SEGA AM-2's part. After all, A.I. opponents in quest mode don't recreate the tendencies of human players very well, and it isn't even until elite ranks that the CPU becomes difficult or utilizes techniques that force the player to study the fighting system beyond a few different combos.

At least Virtua Fighter 5 shows off the PS3's power for the most part. Arguably there isn't a better-looking game on the system. Every character is fleshed-out-literally, in fact-with detail down to their skin textures and hairstyles. All of the different outfits are colorful and react realistically as the players animate. I was very impressed with the animation in general; Virtua Fighter 5 stands right beside Dead or Alive 4 as the fighter with the most visual fluidity. The only complaint I have from a technical standpoint is that the overall sound of the game is slightly muffled and doesn't blast out of the speakers like I think it should.

Virtua Fighter 5 should be your next PlayStation 3 game if you enjoy fighting games and can deal with its "more of the same, but improved" syndrome. Quest mode could easily have you hooked for thousands of matches and have you searching for band-aids for gamer's thumb. The lack of online play hurts its overall longevity, but perhaps this will be attended to with the Xbox 360 version's summer 2007 release.

My 4 year old son is loving this game. He continually surprises me how quick he gets things and what he can do in the game. Some of the actions required for certain characters seem complicated for a 4 year old but apparently are not.

We get a little lost sometimes and it takes awhile to figure out what to do but that is part of the fun.

The violence in this game is practically non-existent. The Animal Control (DuBois etc) characters do try to catch you with nets and ropes but that is it.

I was hoping this would be like Singstar with Disney songs, and to some extent it was, I just expected more. The song selection is a little bad, Seriously, lilo and stitch 2? a direct to DVD movie? No whistle while you work, no hi ho, hi ho, only 1 song from the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, but we get 4 from Cinderella? They needed to include a larger diversity of songs in this game, and including more of the songs that were bigger hits than they did. I could have done with 3 less Cinderella songs and some more from the little Mermaid, or Tarzan, or even the title song from Beauty and the Beast.

Also, be forwarned, these are the exact songs as ripped from the movies, they are not the radio versions, so over half ov "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" is Puumba and Timon talking. Also the game is incredibly easy compared to some of the other karaoke offerings out there, which is understandable as it's aimed at little kids.

The Vocal Trainer part I can see being helpful for younger players, and they will probably get a kick out of the encore mode, but adults should definitely pass this one by and grab a copy of Singstar.

Honestly I was lookign forward to this version since the first disney sing it, but when I started to go through the songs I was HIGHLY let down. I LOVE Disney and I LOVE so MANY of their movies, but this game was a serious let down. I mean it was still a lot of fun with the few songs I would actually sing. BUT GEES how is it Disney couldn't put on the game their good songs, not ones that are barely even songs... Cinderella's song are barely any singing, Toy Story's songs were so not needed (Come on now, Toy Story over Tarzan?! PSH REDICULOUS), what irritates me the most is ONLY ONE LITTLE MERMAID SONG, REALLY? UGH!!

Disney should honestly have it set up so you could down load more of the family hits to make it fair to those who are as disappointed as I am. There should be a way to update the game for free, because honestly the song choices were rediculous.

If you asked me to buy this again, my answer would be no, I wish I had been able to get it used for cheaper, I honestly find it not worth paying even 15 dollars for it. Disney really disappointed me with their song choices.

This karaoke game is so much fun for everyone! My 5 and 6 year old love it. The only trick is that you need to be familiar with some of the songs beforehand, or the kids get bored and frustrated. They are still learning to read, so the words are going faster than they are used to. It's great practice though, and has exposed us to some movies we had not seen yet. It was a blast at my 5 year old's birthday party.

I choose to get the gh:wt guitar bundle over the bandkit for 2 reasons; 1) I heard the gh: world tour drums were having lots of issues and 2) I already owned Rock Band 1 band kit with guitar, drums, and mic.

Pros:

Rock Band 1 drums works seemlessly with gh: wt

Rock Band 1 guitar & mic works seemlessly with gh: wt as well

Well polished gameplay with a great song list! IMO better than rock band 2 b/c i am not a huge metal rock fan. GHero has more titles like sublime, micheal jackson, eagles, no doubt. A little more mainstream.

Cons:

I truely dislike how if one band member fails out the whole band fails out. When friends are over just having fun learning a new instrument this is very annoying that you can't "save" them like in rock band.

I also dislike the way you have to trigger star power on drums( by hitting both center drum pads at the same time) During the middle of a fast paced song on medium or hard this will certainly screw you up and I can almost never pull it off flawlessly) Rock band again gets props for adding short fills and landing the the last note to trigger star power!

not a huge fan of encores....after playing 4 longs songs i dont want an encore

Overall, feels very similar to rock band with slightly different animations and gameplay with all new songs. Definitely has been working great and a good choice if you like the song list however, if not I would stick with Rock Band 2...especially if you need a drum set.

UPDATE

After having the game for about 2 months along with RockBand 2 now. I'd have to say that time and time again i go back to play RockBand 2 instead of GH:WT. The reason is b/c i usually play when friends come over and we want the ability to play and pick from the most amount of songs. Since RB2 allows you to play all your RB1 songs as well as your RB2 songs it truly has more than twice the number of songs than GH:WT. Not to mention, RB2 has really polished how to search for songs to play...not only by song tile, artist, and difficulty but now you can search for songs by Genre and Decade as well. Makes life very easy when your in the mood to play a paticular song. While GW:WT is a fine game and works as advertised. RockBand2 wins Round 1!!

UPDATE

Also Rock Band 2 has psn trophies to obtain while GH:WT does not!

I purchased the guitar pack for this game, because I thought the new features on the controller would be fun. I was right! The controller allows you to try some new techniques that make the game just that much more interesting. I didn't purchase the drums/mic full kit because we tried that with Rock Band and no one in my family really seemed to like those features so much.

As far as the play list, I was delighted to find so much newer music, as well as some amazing classics. Normally we start this game on medium, but it was way too easy on that level (maybe we are just becoming so experienced, lol). On the other hand, when I switched to hard, I was surprised to find how challenging it was, especially with the new controller and added techniques. I love the new guitar battles, which are not really battles at all. It is so much fun to play along with the likes of Ted Nugent and the other guitar gods.

All in all this game continues to amaze me. I note that you can add your own music, but I haven't tried that yet. We are just having way too much fun playing through the 80 or so songs provided with this game.

Initially here are the things that strike me about the hardware.

The PS3 guitar despite the necessary DONGLE will not work with old PS2 GH games (GH1&II&80s.etc) on my 60gb nor does it work on my PS2,(bummer but not surprising, considering the upgrades. The guitar and its improvements are noticable immediately however. The length is a nice upgrade, and the new dpad knob is cool after you get the hang of it, also the bigger, clickier strum bar feels great, now when you are dropping notes you can be sure it is you that is to blame, not the hardware or wireless setup. The two start buttons and oversized SELECT button however are at a spot where I on occassion pause by accident triggering the games new 4 sec restart from pause upgrade. The touch pad felt okay at first as a strum bar, but has begun to show crosstalk in the music studio when I play drums with it, also it is way to far up on the neck and can be hard to locate in the heat of play. Other gripes are that I feel like I have nowhere to spend my tour cash in the game as there are no unlockable songs (just new sets) to buy.

I would have rather seen a new harder lever rather than the new BEGINNER mode but this should help even more people get the hang of these games.

I also miss the tour for each level of difficulty, now when you finish a song on any setting its finished even if you switch difficulties. The customization, along with alot of the details here really feel lifted from RB, but the customization is also fairly limited as the FACE really doesn't change much. Instrument customization is terrific however with every aspect fret board, inlay, pickups adjustable. The music selection is very eclectic with a few too many modern bands for my taste but there are many, many choice tracks, inlcuding the TOOL level which is the most amazing 3 song set yet in a RHYTHM game with Alex Grey inspired art as a stage and no musicians insight. The music studio features a nice set of tutorials to lead you into making your own GH tracks, and overall is fairly deep with 2 methods of making recordings(mixer/studio) and alot of effects for the instrument(s), with more unlockable through codes. The guitar makes a surprisingly good controller for navigating the music studio and the touch pad is promising as a music creation tool, but feels a little imprecise as a drumpad, During gameplay the touchpad requires a light touch as well to avoid crosstalk between notes when tapping, and a nice light touch when sliding over the new see-through notes (which remind me of GITAROO MAN but more hands on). On the hard levels the touch pad is almost impossible to reach at times however (Zak Wylde duel). Overall, it is hard to complain about a song list this huge, the ability to record your own tunes, a bass career, and a guitar with this many improvements. I do however miss some of the old features like a locally available HIGH SCORES table, not just online & not just by song. The career sets feel packed together but you can quit through the pause menu and still play one song at a time, or build your own sets of any length. I was hoping for 1080p graphics, but this is yet another 720p PS3 game. Online, drums, vocals are NOT REVIEWED here.

This is my initial reaction to the single player guitar bundle for offline play only, and I thought it might help some of you make a rhythm game buying decision. Also see line6.com/gh for the extra guitar effects that are unlockable in the studio.

Read Best Reviews of PS3 Guitar Hero World Tour Guitar Kit Here

This is actually the first Guitar Hero game I have ever played, so I can't compare the game to the previous versions. As far as the hardware, the wireless guitar that comes with this kit works well and I've never had it mess up on me yet. It seems very responsive and is built well enough that I can jam on it without thinking it will break. As for the game itself... it's really addictive and has some great songs that are done really well. What I mean is, the button fret combinations are really fun to do and work with the songs. All of the songs are original recordings (as opposed to covers by other bands) and some of my favorites include Hotel California, La Bamba, On The Road Again (live), Float on, Eye of the Tiger, and Beat it. In addition to playing the guitar and bass guitar to these songs, you can also sing (if you buy a usb mic) and play drums in this game (if you buy the drums).

I can confirm that the guitar that comes in this kit is compatible with Guitar Hero 3, and Rock Band for the PS3. So more than likely it should work for Rock Band 2 as well.

Conclusion:

I've had lots of fun with this game so far and it's very hard to put down once you get started. The game design is great because it lets you pick from lots of different modes like "quick play" and "career mode". And even within career mode, there's even an option to pick the song list you want to play in a set for a show. The only thing I wish they would've done is throw in a free mic with this kit so you could try the singing option right away. But with that said, I'm really happy with this game.

I only played Street Fighter 4 a couple of times before I realized that I just plain didn't like it. And that's pretty bad coming from someone who grew up with the series, playing the first incarnation of Street Fighter 2 when it hit arcades in the early 90s. Something seemed off to me, balance was horrible, and the online modes were lackluster. Plus it seemed like there was a lot missing that they could've put in, but didn't just so they could make the release date. Sure enough, Super Street Fighter 4 was announced just a few months later. So I waited, and once I saw gameplay of the new characters and the changes they made to the original cast, I went and pre-ordered it, knowing I wouldn't be disappointed. Obviously, I wasn't, given the title of this review and the ratings, and anyone who was disappointed with the first SF4 should at least give this a rental/borrow.

First things first, the new characters. While I wish they would've added a few more unique characters (like Oro, so then we could have the 4 true masters in one title finally!), the characters they added all rock for the most part, and getting to see Dudley take on Balrog is something that needs to be seen for yourself in order to experience the gentlemanly bad-assedry. Juri's pretty rad too, and once I played as her in the Training mode just to see her moves, I could see why there are so many people playing as her online. The original cast from SF4 got changed here and there, like some attacks having different priority, being slowed down, or not being invincible during an EX move. Sagat and Ryu were notorious for being god-like in the previous version, and here...they're still pretty tough, but not -asimpossible to take down as they were. Trust me when I say that if you play competitively, the tiers list will be quite different from the SF4 tiers. Heck, I think Cody's an automatic upper tier just because his knife attacks do chip damage while being blocked and one of his Ultras can almost always hit you when you're on the ground.

Online modes have been revamped as well, and it's so much better from what it used to be. There's little to no lag most of the time when I'm playing people in the same region, though sometimes there'll be a quick freeze for both players, and then it goes back to normal. Endless Battle is similar to the mode in the Dead or Alive 2 remake for Xbox, where a person hosts a game, then others keep playing them until they're defeated. This can be a true test of skill if you think you're all that. I still wish there was a way to do rematches when a match ends in the Ranked Battle, so I wouldn't have to go right back to the Network menu to pick another match type, but it's not that big of a complaint. I did have some problems with trying to join another person's Ranked Match. Sometimes it would say that there was a problem, and ask if I wanted to try again, only to have another problem. If this happens to you, just host your own game. SSF4 is so hot, there's ALWAYS someone to play against. Heck, look at Super Street Fighter 2 HD Remixthere's ALWAYS someone to play against on there too, and that thing's been out for a while.

There are a few extra features, like titles and icons you can earn through Arcade, Network and Challenge modes, and there's also a completely new set of trophies to earn here. Nope, they didn't just port over the old list from SF4, everything's new and you'll have to earn them again. Costume packs from SF4 transfer over to SSF4, and that 'bonus' that Capcom talked about for people who have their SF4 files still saved...is just an extra color. It's a cool filter [that only works for the original color] that gives you a comic book look, similar to the style in Valkyria Chronicles. Capcom also gave a couple of characters an extra Rival scene in Arcade mode, but unfortunately, Gen and Akuma didn't get one. The opening and ending animated scenes are still horrible, but eh, how often do fighting games get good endings in Arcade mode? I would've liked Capcom to have finally made a Story mode like what Guilty Gear and BlazBlue had. They've been sitting back while the fans figure out what's actually going on with the story for way too long. Even the endings here, which are completely different from those in SF4, don't explain much if they have anything to do with the story, and what they do explain is often left for you to figure out (like Akuma's).

The graphics remain the same from SF4 of course, but the new animations for new Ultras can range from incredible to incredibly goofy (like Akuma's new Tasmanian Devil Ultra). There are a lot of new tracks to listen to, and I'm happy to say all of them are just as memorable as the old themes from the first Street Fighter 2. You gotta love Cody's theme, and especially the new Dudley mix. As with the last game, you can also set the voices to English or Japanese...or mix and match and choose who you want to speak either language. 'very good for those people who whine about 'omg da english subs sux0rz' all the time and think it affects gameplay.

All in all, despite the few problems here, I'm glad I waited for this. Oh heck, I was actually hyped for this game, and I -neverget like that for anything. While I love BlazBlue, Street Fighter tends to be the fighting game series that I always play the most, and with SF4, it looks like it'll be staying that way for a while. Now if Guilty Gear X3 comes out...

I am almost 40 and when I was a kid I remember playing Street Fighter in the arcade and then at home. It has always been a 2D fighter. This latest iteration helps this long in the tooth fighting game revive some of its newness and lost luster. Now you can fight as all of the original fighters plus 10 new ones. I have not played the online multiplayer yet.

Gameplay (+)

This game is a fantastic 2 player game to have at your house when your friends come over. Its so much fun to battle your friends head to head as characters you have played in the past. The mechanics are still the same and you can pull off combos with the right joystick movement/ button combo.

Graphics (+)

The last street fighter I played was probably 4 years ago and at that time they were trying to introduce 3D into it. It was never that convincing because one of the beauties of this game is actually the 2D space. By restricting you to only forward and back you can concentrate on the killer moves needed to take out your opponent. What this version does (and others prior to this might but I never played them), is bring in 3D movements and marry that to the 2D space. Now your fighting moves are very lifelike and yet you are bound to the restrictions that make this game work.

Scenes (+)

The scenes are just great. Each one of the characters has their background that fits their look. Each one is animated with great characters or objects.

New Characters (+/-)

I like the new characters. Each has their own style and special moves. I have not unlocked special characters as of yet. The main selectable new characters have cool looks, and genre specific styles that emulate where they come from like Juri is Korean and has a Hapkido/Tae Kwon Do look to her style. The negative I can see is that the new characters are archetypal versions of what we already have. The big muscular slow fighter, the fast quick light fighter and so on. Nothing added is really innovative other than their special moves.

Special Moves / Finishing moves (+)

Some of the finishing moves are absolutely hilarious and great to taunt your friends with. An example is Hakan; this fat slow guy that resembles a hippo. Some of his finishing moves I have tried out are awesome. He slimes himself up so when he fights hes slippery. He uses that slime to do some cool finishing moves on people. I have not tried every character out, but have seen some of the moves watching friends play this in the arcade.

Tactics: (+)

You could go into this doing the same combo over and over and quickly see that you would have your butt handed to you. This iteration of the Street Fighter series rewards you for tactics in that there is more damage done when you pull off the harder moves and not spam your opponent with them repeatedly.

Summary:

Overall this is a fantastic fighter to have in your arsenal of games. The price makes it even more appealing. I highly recommend it!

Thanks for reading my review.

I played the original SFIV, but felt that it was lacking characters. However Super SFIV is a step up, but nothing ground breaking. Online play is ok; some challenging opponents others just do nothing but the same move. I do recommend this game, but I would wait until it hits games like this go down in value fast...

I just wanted to address some of the main complaints I see with regards to this game.

Apparently, some folks out there who purchased the original Street Fighter 4 have a problem with "paying for the same game twice".

Some folks think that they "wasted their money" on the original SF4, because Super SF4 is better.

Others think that this is nothing more than "Capcom's attempt to milk a franchise and rip off its customers."

I can understand the cynicism n this day and age, but it's unwarranted here,

-You aren't "paying for the same game twice", because of the ridiculous amount of additional content they've added. 10 brand new characters is major. Most franchises don't even add 10 new characters in a SEQUEL, let alone an update. PLUS gameplay revisions and all new ultras for the existing cast that can completely change the way the old characters are played. PLUS a more social online atmosphere thanks to lobbies, team battle, and the upcoming free DLC tournament mode. There's a lot of stuff here that wasn't here before...

-You didn't "waste your money" on the original SF4 because IT WAS A GREAT GAME, AND YOU ENJOYED IT. The original SF4 was a fantastic, genre-reviving game with infinite replay value and appeal. The past 14 months of intense beat downs, tournaments, hype, and discovery were well worth the $60 we paid for it. Purchasing Super SF4 won't change that. Especially since the knowledge you earned over the past year will serve you very well in this new game.

-This isn't "Capcom's attempt to milk a franchise and rip off its customers", because so much of the ingredients to this feast were based on fan requests. Online lobbies? Fans demanded it. Better balance? Fans demanded it. Street Fighter 3 characters? Fans demanded it. Listening to classic character themes during regular battles? Fans demanded it. The list goes on. Capcom simply saw the demand, and provided the supply. Sure, it would have been great if this massive cornucopia of fighting were available in the original SF4, but unfortunately Capcom doesn't have a magic wand that creates fighting games out of thin air. Limited time and resources forced them to split the costs and risks over two separate releases (remember, the original SF4 was a huge gamble that Capcom wasn't sure would be a success.)

In the end, it's all just business. In February 2009, Capcom released a game called Street Fighter 4. I paid 60 bucks, and in return got way more than 60 bucks worth of value for it. Both sides profited.

Fast forward to April 2010 as Capcom now approaches me with the similar proposition. Pay them 60 bucks in exchange for more than 60 bucks worth of enjoyment. I see no reason why I shouldn't pull the trigger again.

Oh wait...you mean to tell me, it's not 60 bucks? It's even CHEAPER?

Well, maybe we need to reconsider who exactly is ripping off whom here...

Really great game at a great price! It can be upgraded to arcade edition at a later time if you want, and it is still cheaper than getting arcade edition outright. Cant go wrong with super street fighter 4.

Just Cause 2 is an amazing game. So far I have not found any reviews that really do it justice and I'm not sure why. It seems like the more games that come out, the more competition there is between them, and I'm thinking this game kinda just got lost in the bunch, because it's surely a hidden treasure.

PS3 Version

Graphics: Amazing

The graphics in this game are flawless. Everything from the beautiful environments, to the insanely detailed massive explosions, to driving around crashing your car, or even connecting your car to an airliner and taking off with it dangling behind you, the graphics in the game are A+.

Gameplay: Amazing

The gameplay in this game are everything I've ever wanted in a game. You are completely free to explore the entire world within the first hour of the game. And when I say "entire world" I mean entire world. This game will literally take you about 30-40 mins to FLY across the world. Anything slower than flying (boat, car, walking) is just out of the question. That's how immense this game is. And the things you can do in it are just plain rediculous (in a good way). Drive any car/plane/boat/motorcycle as fast as you want, crashing into buildings, ramping off mountains, things exploding everywhere as you leave a path of destruction behind you. Did I mention you have a grappling hook? Yes. Probably the coolest tool anyone could ever have in a game. You can grapple yourself to things (pull yourself), you can grapple to things to pull them towards you (people, objects), and you can grapple things together (random people to moving vehicles like planes, helicopters, and cars). Endless possibilities. Gameplay is what gives this game a 5 star rating.

Storyline: Meh....

The storyline (or lack there of) is really the only thing I could think of that drags this game down. Really down. I mean it's amazing running around blowing things up and causing chaos, but when you want a game that has a little substance along with that, just cause 2 falls pretty short. The characters are terrible and the voice acting is even worse. I pretty much skipped all of the movie scenes about half way through the game because I didnt' wanna waste the 5 mins listening to the terrible voice over and pointless cut scenes. But trust me, the storyline is about 25% worth of this game. The rest is just plain freedom to do whatever you want, wherever you want.

Replayability:

This game is definitely replayable, in a sense that once you complete the story missions (if you even bother to) you can spend days worth of playing just going around finding all of the easter eggs, side missions, and collectibles. In fact, I myself am still playing this game. I beat the story missions and a lot of side missions and then my PS3 bit the dust. So I pretty much just started over and it hasn't lost a single bit of its awesomeness. Amazing game!@! Anyone who says nor, either hasn't played it or expects wayyyyy too much. Just Cause 2 will not disappoint.

I played a demo of this game on Onlive before buying it. The demo was a great example but didn't really prepare me for the game. This game has a MASSIVE world to explore. When I say massive, I mean it. There is a story line you follow and complete but once you finish that, you can continue to explore the world of the game in Mercenary mode. Basically, it's free movement around the islands. This game allows you to commandeer ANY vehicle in the game. This means that not only can you explore in trucks, jeeps, motorcycles, tanks, ATVs, etc. but you can take to the skies and take over helicopters, jets, fighter planes and the water in all manner of boats. This makes the game hugely exciting. There's nothing like raining down hell fire on an enemy base from your Apache attack helicopter!

The game features several types of locations to explore: villages, military bases, naval bases, and also races these come in all varieties of vehicles and are timed. Personally, I enjoy going after the military bases. This gives you the pleasure of not only tearing to shreds the army based there but also allows you to take control of massive anti aircraft guns, tanks, and 50 cal guns that you can then use anywhere else on the islands.

In short, this is a very exciting game with hours of replay-ability. As this is an older game now, you can likely find it for cheap. Great bargain you wont regret.

First of all, the map is MASSIVE. You can wander around for hours just exploring the place. I really like this game.

This is an amazingly fun game for how simple it is. I would also say it's appropriate for younger teens, as it doesn't include any of the language and sexual content of other similar games like GTA.

One word of caution pay attention to what region the game comes from. While the PS3 is technically region-free, all DLC is still region-locked. So if, like me, you get a UK version of the game, and you have a US PSN account, you won't be able to add any DLC.

This is not that bad of the game its a cross between Grand theft auto and a #rd person shooter that I cant think of at the moment I didnt buy this from amazon I got it at discount from the playstation store with all the DLC. Gameplay is a little off at times and can be frustrating when the militia forces attack in numbers with soldiers and vehicles. my biggest complaint it the cars handling its like all the cars have no brakes and the car can spin out while turning and your on the breaks they also drive like tanks. If you can get by with the handling of the cars then it really not that bad of a game.

I started out the X4's, then the X41's. So two years of better gaming. Both were great for many reasons. I even thought they were perfect. Now owning the PX5's for a week, it makes the other ones I have owned seem flawed. They really did justice to the PX5. Cable fits more snug to the Xbox controller, the volume control has a better range, and interference is little to none with the PX5. And even though the sound on the X41 is outstanding, the sound on the PX5 is even better.

If you have the money or can scrape up the money and you play a lot of MP type games, you really need a good headset to step up your game. Being able to know someone is coming, how close the might be, and what direction they are coming from really helps. Even if you just play on campaigns, these headsets really help to immerse yourself into the game's environment.

The biggest plus with any headset for speakers is being able to play games loudly without keeping everyone else awake. More importantly, if you play games that has harsh language and you have kids, then you keep them from accidentally hearing it.

UPDATE 4/13/2011

Well, a few weeks of use now. I use them with the 360 and so far, I am averaging 10 to 12 hours of use before replacing the batteries. I use rechargeable NiMH batteries. The best feature they added to this headset, that the other models did not have, is they finally give you a warning your batteries are about to die.

The sound is still great. I have tried the various presets and they really help depending on what type of game you play. Still highly recommended.

This is my day 1 review, but after about 4 hours playing yesterday this is an AWESOME headset and no regrets dropping the money for this one. All the other reviewers covered the performance aspects of this headset which totally sold me on it and I have nothing to add.

The one thing I wanted to share were two points about the setup process and how to integrate this into your existing home theatre for those of you who use your PS3 as the DVD/Blu-ray player in your Home Theatre.

BACKGROUND:

For both of these points it's important to first understand the wire connections between the PX5 to your PS3. You'll use:

(1) the included toslink cable to connect your PS3 optical audio out to the PX5 optical audio port;

(2) the included USB cable to connect an open PS3 USB jack to the PX5 power jack (this one kind of stinks because USB is on the front of your PS3 which makes hiding the wires a bit harder).

SETUP CLARIFICATION:

The instructions for the PX5 are not completely clear on the fact that there are 2 steps to getting the Audio and Voice Chat to work. Which, if you're like me, will mean you'll start up COD and end up with a very nice headset for chat but hear no game sounds.

1) For voice chat, the instructions are out of order you first Bluetooth pair the PX5 headset to your PS3 (using the provided instructions and the PS3 menu Settings > Accessory Settings > Manage Bluetooth Devices); and THEN set your PS3 to use the PX5 headset for voice chat (using the provided instructions and the PS3 menu Settings > Accessory Settings > Audio Device Settings). Don't be confused that the Audio Device Settings having the Output Device means you'll get the game sounds through the headphones this only sends chat output to the headphones.

2) For game/movie audio output, if your PS3 is currently hooked up to your TV or Home Theater using only HDMI cable or AV Multi connector you likely have no audio coming to the headset or at best you will have downgraded 2-channel audio coming to the headset. You have to modify the Sound Settings to send surround sound to the Optical audio output jack (using PS3 menu Settings > Sound Settings > Audio Output Settings and setting the Digital Out (Optical) to have 5.1 sound coming out). This will also turn off your HDMI / AV Multi sound output meaning your TV/Home Theater go deaf unless you also turn on Audio Multi-Output (using PS3 menu Settings > Sound Settings > Audio Multi-Output). When you enable multi-output, the multi-output can only output surround sound out of a single output at a time and all other outputs get just 2-channel audio.

Which brings me to my second point.

HOME THEATER SETUP:

The PS3 has a limitation to only send digital surround sound output through 1 output at a time: either HDMI or Digital Out (Optical). So if you're currently using your PS3 in your Home Theater and you rely on HDMI cable to send the Audio and Video to your TV / Receiver you're either going to have to keep switching the Audio Output Settings back and forth when you want PS3 to output to Digital Out (so you can use your PX5's) or HDMI (so you can use your Home Theater). OR you can pick up an extra toslink cable (like AmazonBasics Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable, 6 Feet) and then read this setup suggestion. The PX5 has an Optical Input and Output jack so you can connect PS3 > toslink > PX5 > toslink > TV/Receiver. Then you can leave your PS3 permanently outputting surround sound to Digital Out (Optical) and your PX5 will forward the signal to your TV/Receiver so it has available surround when you want to listen via your Home Theater.

Hope this helps you avoid a second order if you order the PX5 and extra toslink cable at same time.

The Turtle Beach's PX5s are here to replace its predecessor the X41s.

My best friend had those headphones but returned them because of this hissing, cracking sound that was god awful. However, TB has rid of this problem as it is no longer happening in the PX5s. THIS IS HUGE. If you do your research you will see a plethora of complaints about the X41s having this issue.

Further, if you are really into FPS games such as killzone, COD, BFBC2 etc, then you will appreciate some of the presets such as silent footsteps; some presets really immerse you in the game. Some ppl speculated that the presets may just be a gimmick or ploy from TB but INDEED THEY ARE NOT AND THEY WORK.

NOTE: Make sure to use ninjo pro on BO to really get the advantage or else you will end up hearing the sound of YOUR OWN footsteps, which is not desirable.

Lastly, you should know that MLG recommends the ASTRO A40s, which are also awesome but come with an even heftier price tag of 350+[(when you include the wireless option. Of course, these are wireless and have more features (voice changer, downloading more presets, comes with DUAL bluetooth capabilities which is something that you CANNOT get on the astros)]. The latter feature helps a lot since my gf likes to bother me while I'm gaming and my Android can be answered by a click of a button through the PX5s; pretty cool, eh?!

Also it is helpful for you to know that the Astros are known for really good Ambient sound and Narration. Also, the astros made an improvement with their 2011 edition giving better bass containment then they offered before. The px5 don't have a bass booster toggle like the x41s, however, this is no longer a single-option-feature since the presets coupled with the ability to self adjust/customize the sound at an even greater depth is ALL at the user's fingertips.

The Px5 are probably the most advance and best WIRELESS GAMING headsets you can get on the market right now and with amazon's superb CSRs and pricing, you can't go wrong.

PS please don't bother comparing these to the Tritton Pros and/or the 720s it really undermines the Px5s, they are not in the same league.

Update 4/1/2011

After muh more use and playing around with the headsets, I decided to give an update. Honestly, I have a issue with the lack of proper bass; that is there is not a fair balance of adequate/tight/clean bass ESPECIALLY is you are on preset 2 or 4. If someone throws a grenade and it lands by me or if there of many sounds going on out once, there is CONSIDERABLE distortion. This is not acceptable for such an expensive headset. So yeah, it has a multitude of features, but what is the point if you are not getting quality sound. Aside from that, the mids and highs are pretty good.

Here is what I wrote in response to a comment: "Now honestly, these are not going to sound as good as the 598s, or 555, the guy who has some distortion in the bass does not have a defective product, it's just like someone said here, these aren't going to be comparable to HD cans from a company like Senn, denon, etc. I swear they sound pretty good and I enjoy them but of course they are not up to par with some of the foregoing headsets mentioned above. Do they blow the Tritton 720/pros (crap madCatz) and px21s out of the water? Yes! But don't plan on getting the best GAMING headphones (on balance) and expect sound quality which you would receive from a similar priced audiophile company...it aint gonna' happen (at least not right now)"

Hope this was helpful...

OH and ONE LAST THING, to the guy who said he got 20hrs plus, YEAH RIGHT. That is NOT true unless you have the mic and bluetooth off. Sorry. Just had to clarify for everyone. It is entirely feasible and average for 6 hrs use if the bluetooth function is on all the time bc boy does that sure drain the batt.

Want Ear Force PX5 Programmable Wireless 7.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound Headset Discount?

I've had the Triton AxPro, X41, X31, Astro, and now the PX5.(All from Amazon, which was awesome this time as always) These are the best sounding by a landslide. Why the 4 star rating? Well, until I can customize my mic settings and edit my audio presets, and change "the voice" (yes, the headphones talk)... I can only rate it four stars. 5 is perfect. These are not. I facebooked TurtleBeach and asked whats up with the software that the manual and box say is on their website. "It isn't up there yet, it will be in a couple of days". Furthermore, that same manual makes mention of a Bluetooth adapter for the 360 controller for complete wireless chat... Also absent from their website. So those are the shortcomings for now. I hope the website is updated within 27 days, if not I will have to return these as they are only half what the box says they are. No editing mic levels, no voice morph, no custom presets, and no Bluetooth dongle.

All that said, they are awesome. Switching from Pandora on iPhone 4 to Black Ops is effortless. In fact they can be done at the same time! And I've named "her" Barbra. She tells me where we are in the presets: 1 ... 2 ... 3 and so on, or "Bluetooth on" or "Headset pairing". They are really quite amazing. The distance is larger from base to head as well. I can clearly hear BLOPS in the bathroom for those 1 minute breakswhereas with the x41 I was constantly met with signal loss. When these do lose signal, the transition is MUCH less jarring. The game sounds simply cut in and out until they are gone all together. They fade back in the same way. Lastly, not one pop, absolutely no hiss, not one crackle in range. The only audio flaw is that when "she" says "Bluetooth powering off" the "...off" fades out a bit. Those other things missing are icing on the cake. But the cake cost 250$ and I don't like cake without icing. Hopefully an update will follow, that is positive.

FOLLOW UP:

I had to return the headset to Amazon. Booooo. Yes, there is some software on TB website. As kitschy as a "voice morph" is... It simply doesn't warrant a 250$ price tag. The actual "real" software is still absent from their website (Whatever "Coming Soon" means). I want to adjust, at the very least, some generic "bass" setting or tinker with a "treble" slider. In addition to that flagrant faux pas, there is no Bluetooth dongle to be had for us 360 exclusive gamers. BOTH of these items are listed IN THE MANUAL and in the description of their product on their own site! This is not to diminish the quality of either the build or the sound. Both are superior to their the X41 model. But not for almost double the cost. Until the price comes down, and/or these other two items are available... I will not recommend this product. Continue to enjoy the X41. In fact, buy two and let the wife enjoy some quality sounds while gaming or watching a flick or two. I do miss these cans, but I not as much as I missed the $$$. I hope to update again soon. I also hope I can do more than be blinded by their beauty and gush over their sound. Maybe I could even review this elusive software, and even more mysterious Bluetooth dongle. By then, I bet they are at least 50$ cheaper too. Which in turn will likely pay for a portion of the sure-to-be over priced dongle.

Also, I don't care to be involved in the flame debate below... Nothing personal, I'd just rather be playing video games... Or eating broken glass.

Second Follow Up:

As of late July 2011 the software is up on TB website. I will review them again once the Bluetooth adapter is available... Maybe. Or I'll just get the Xbox version of the PX5, to be released "soon".

Awful...this is worse than duke nukem forever. The marketing campaign and advertising lead-up only made it worse...I am a huge Aliens fan and found myself obligated to finish the game only because I spent 60 bucks on this turd. The liberties taken with the existing movie plot are weak and lack continuity, the game is a sub-par 1st person shooter, and the graphics are late ps2 quality. The sound is spot on, but that is the only redeeming feature of the game. The multiplayer mode is supposed to be decent, but I was so disgusted with the story mode I didn't even bother. I grew up adoring this franchise and that may have raised my expectations too high but even the Aliens license isn't enough for me to overlook the steaming pile of poo that has been in the works since 2006. SNES Alien 3, the arcade Aliens, AvP for the pc and the 2010 ps3 AvP are all better titles. I am a sucker because I plunked down the dough for this travesty, so please learn from my mistake!!!

I got the game yesterday 2/12 and it was the collectors edition

which comes with loads of goodies that really are not worth 100 bucks

the game itself is flawed with Lag in MP along with weird pop in

and texture issues, framerate drops.

you must be asking "Then why did you give it three stars?"

the Multiplayer has potential to be excellent that is if

a whole lot of patching takes place since we all know it looks

pretty below par of the games of this generation.

right now as it stands I'd say wait a few months and

let the game get patches and fixes. after patching

it might be a better game but as of this writing I can only

recommend this to the most hardcore fans.

another problem with MP is the very long lobby matchmaking times.

sometimes you get a game in 1-2 minutes other times you're waiting

TEN minutes for it to stop "Searching".

I expected so much more from Sega and Gearbox.

there's a nice selection of weapons ranging from the flamethrower, Pulse rifle

and an assortment of other iconic film weapons.

there's also legendary weapons that are a nice touch with higher stats

then the regular versions of the weapons. the phased pulse rifle is neat

but far too slow to fire. the ball breakers are cool though.

the skins were not really that nifty and the firing range is just ok.

loads of customization for the MP and both for xeno's and humans

as well as online weapons. you can add sights, underslung attachments,

and other options. you also get skill upgrades as both sides.

the game really shines in spots only to be ruined by bugs and glitches.

lag in the MP helps to ruin the best part of the game and while they

already released another patch I didn't see much difference.

I really wanted this to be the Alien game I love, and would play forever...

sadly it's not. perhaps in six months when fully patched movement

will be better and not so sluggish, perhaps more maps (two is not enough for MP)

and bug fixes, perhaps then this Might be worth picking up if you're

a hardcore alien fan (like me) otherwise rent before buying.

as for the Collectors Edition items:

the Phased Pulse Rifle fires slow and has to charge first

this can easily mean death against a xeno.

the pulse rifle flamethrower combo is nice but so bulky

that it obscures almost the entire right side of the screen

and that's a little unacceptable. The Ball Busters are

a mine of sorts and while cool when they work it's rare

that xeno will actually walk near it. the extra skins are about

as generic as could be and were not worth tossing in.

the firing range while helpful, proves fairly useless after a few MP matches.

the patches and paperwork is very detailed that this package comes with

such as the certificate, sulaco schematic is very detailed and looks like a true blueprint and the iron on patches are nicely embroidered.

the poly resin statue is well detailed but the alien figure is loose in mine

and it just seems a little underwhelming. for 100 bucks pass on the collectors edition unless you absolutely Must have the Power Loader.

Driving the power loader on the other hand is dull and rather glitchy

which is a sad thing to see in such an iconic moment.

the sound effects of the xenos and weapons are top notch

I only wish the voice acting were better considering all the stars

they dug up for this game. it had so much potential and

yet again it was wasted (unless patches redeem the game somehow)

it's a shame the writers didn't take more time on the story

so they could have finally answered all those Aliens film questions

fans always wanted answered.

Multiplayer modes:

Team Deathmatch: pretty standard xenos vs marines 2 rounds 5 min each.

one round as marines the other as xenos 6 vs 6

Extermination: marines run to points on the map to destroy alien eggs.

aliens try to kill marines.you have to stand in the marked point for fifteen seconds

and this can be Very Hard to do. still a farrly redeeming mode. 5 vs 5

Survivor mode: 2 teams as per the other modes but 4 on 4 marines must survive the time limit. the player cannot

respawn and is gone once dead, ammo is limited too. this mode was

fairly dull to be honest go for team deathmatch over this one.

Escape Mode: the Big mode here as it's by far the most fun of them all.

marines try to escape and complete objectives while fighting off xenos.

it can get tense at times. the better the marines work together

the easier it is to kill off the xenos. the xenos lose if the marines escape,

or after fifteen minutes scores get tallied and a winner is declared. 4 vs 4

Graphics: 2 of 5 stars got some environments right, the rest is ugly.

Sound: pretty spot on and rather Epic 5 stars!

Gameplay: after some severe patching it might get better as of now it's 2 stars.

Fun: the Singleplayer is flawed but loads of fan service and easter eggs

the Multiplayer has all the potential to be great 3 stars

Overall: I'd advise a wait on this game until they add a whole lot

more patches and polish as of now it's long lobby times,

bad framerates, lag, texture issues and pop in, not really a complete game

wait until the price drops and most issues are fixed.

I can only recommend a rental at best

the game is a Three Star Game at best (as of this writing)

I was very excited to play this and I even bought the season pass. sigh... I think I logged maybe 6-7 hours playing the whole thing and it was over before I even knew it, the ending is strange and not cathartic at all. The AI is inferior to what we usually have today, you can shoot your own guys while shooting at an alien, and your own marines step in your line of fire. The game itself looks ok, but just ok. Nothing groundbreaking. It is somewhat of a decent story. In the end, it feels more like an add-on that should have sold for $20. I suspect that's how much it will be by summer. I have been playing Dead Space 3 at the same time, now that is a game that meets current 2013 expectations. I know it's not really to compare but they did come out within a week of each other.

A brief history lesson: If you do not know what happened to this game it was a disaster. Basically gearbox software about two years ago started showing some demos of this game that they were working on. And those demos looked amazing I mean fans of the Alien series were blown away. I will link below a YouTube video where you can see a comparison of the demo and the game that was released and it's a sad thing to see what this game became.

Now as a game it's kind of a mess the graphics are not that great on console or PC and is really just an average first-person shooter. But if your Aliens fan and you long to go back to LV-426 that it might be worth your hard-earned cash to do so. It's nice to hold the M40-1A pulse rifle and gun down Xenomorphs like a complete bad ass. And it does build on the alien mythos and is an extension of Aliens and acknowledges some of the events of Alien 3 (which if you're an Aliens fan could be good or bad in your opinion if you are an Aliens fan you should watch Alien 3 special edition it is a lot better than the theatrical cut). I would personally wait until this game pits about $20 maybe even $10 (and trust me by the way it was reviewed and the scores and got it won't take long to reach that price point) then I think it might be worth jumping in if you're just sort of a fan of the series.

I would like to note that the multiplayer is kind of cool and it's better than it's ever been in any previous games. But the problem you'll have is that since everybody hates the game multiplayer isn't that have a really large population for very long. I will update this review in the future letting you know about how the multiplayer matchmaking is working.

All in all I would only recommend this game if you're a hard-core fan of the series/movies and one a little bit more of the story arc. But be warned if you're just a so-so fan of the series there are a lot better purchases for games out there.

I just hope someday in the future gearbox releases the aliens demo that they showed because that's the game we all deserved and the game that would've put right all the countless alien games that have totally sucked. Anyway thanks for reading I hope you enjoyed.

Please take all the negative reviews with a grain of kosher salt...These are no doubt written by hardcore FPS shooter addicts who have been playing these since they were born...I, am a bit older, was around in the Atari days, and have been a CASUAL gamer ever since. I am also a hardcore Aliens fan. This game looks and sounds like Aliens, no question about it. If you into the aesthetic and overall experience of that universe, and want a fully realized modern-looking (maybe not state of the art) Aliens game in the mold of Black Ops and MW3, then this should be more than sufficient to satisfy...IF, on the other hand, you live, eat, sleep, and breath these games and win them in one-weekend, red-bull fueled, multiplayer marathons, then this is probably not worth your money. Chances are if you are the latter, you were probably just born when Aliens came out in '86, so nostalgia wont be a draw, anyhow. Since I WAS around, and nostalgia for the classic film IS a factor, and also given that I am a CASUAL gamer, I like it JUST FINE, AND I AM SATISFIED AND HAVING FUN WITH IT. IT IS NOT THAT BAD AT ALL.

I bought this limited Edition because I love everything about the assassin's Creed series. First I will address what I loved about this edition:

1. The buckle is very thick and very real. at first I was afraid it would be some cheap looking plastic toy but it isn't. I can't wait to wear it.

2. The Flag is large and beautiful...I just wish it was cloth instead of vinyl or polyester.

Update note: ThinkGeek.com has a better flag on sale for $49.00. It's larger and 100% cotton. I now sort of feel cheated buying this edition for over 100 bucks and not even get the best flag they had.

3. The Connor statue is very detailed. Even has some blood splatter. A great edition to add to your cabinet.

4. The journal is very well made and the drawings are wonderful. It looks like a real journal. I wish the cover was leather or something but other than that, very well done.

Now for what I didn't like:

The game itself is boring. First of all the story doesn't even pick up until Sequence 6...although IMO it's really Sequence 7. Recruiting assassins is a huge pain and they're worthless overall. So all the trouble you have to go through just to get them seems pointless. I do like that these assassins have a personality but overall I don't care about them as much as I did my assassins in Brotherhood and Revelations. They can't even die and in *most* cases you can't even call them for aid. What I loved about recruiting assassins in the other games was color coding them into teams, building them up through their missions, thinking about which missions would be the best to send them on without getting them killed, I also loved having the ceremony. I do like having assassins with different skills in this game but they took away everything else that made recruiting them enjoyable so I just stopped.

Update note: Don't expect any assassin ceremonies or anything involving the assassin's creed anywhere in this game. The words were somehow forgotten by Connor's mentor. Very sad.

Connor is unlikeable for the most part. He seems to be quite hypocritical and seems to be on an emo "me me ME ME ME!!" trip. After a while I wanted to play Haytham for the rest of the game instead of him. He just seems very one note IMO. Haytham actually had personality, a purpose, and goal. I won't spoil you but he seemed to make more sense and actually had something well thought out other than "I go here and kill this person"...like Connor. Most of the missions sucked and was basically you running around fetching things, killing people, and delivering news. I miss the purpose behind the assassin order that existed int he other games, it just seems to be lost in this one. The map is large but navigating it is a pain. In AC2, when you fast travel you were taken into the next area. In AC3 when you use the map to fast travel you get a loading screen that takes you to the "gates" of the area you want to go in, then another loading screen to get there. It gets annoying.

The sea battles were great and I loved sailing! But it does get old after a while as you hit the invisible wall often. The the bugs and glitches can be a blessing or pain depending. I've had missions where I failed for no reason, disappearing weapons during a fight, lost my tomahawk while climbing up a wall and actually found it laying on the ground. You can get stuck in walls, fall into oblivion et al. Sometimes the AI will just stand there and let you kill them.

I doubt this is a glitch or bug but pickpocketing the NPCs is easy because they pretty much just stand there and look at you while you do it. In the other games people seemed to actually care about...I don't know...a thief taking their hard earned money. Speaking of thieves...I believe there is a guild but I haven't seen one and I have no clue where to look as not everything shows up on the map. Also where are the prostitutes et al? It just seems like these are other aspects of the past games that I liked that is missing from this game.

The game however, looks beautiful, the graphics are great. But I don't buy games because of good graphics, I buy them because I want to enjoy myself and have fun and well I just didn't with this game.

I've been an AC fan since AC 2.... Although I really enjoyed playing AC 1, the ending really lacks explanations... I didn't even know, at first the game was over..... Enough nostalgia..... Let's talk about AC 3:

I've installed the game, did the update procedure, redeemed both the Uplay and promotional codes... Everything went smooth and easy.

The series speaks for itself.... The gameplay is very similar to the previews titles and there are some minor changes that only add to the experience... Personally I didn't like the tomahawk very much, but its only my personal opinion.... I'm much of a sword fan..... The picture is amazingly sharp at 1080p, the stereoscopic is really great, but my eyes get more tired when playing 3d stereo games than when watching 3d blu-ray discs. The sound score is awesome! I really love all the AC soundtracks....

The packaging:

The box itself is a collectible item.... It's as big as a shoe box, with great prints and graphics....

The items were securely placed inside the box and the statue was in its blister, avoiding damage. The statue is really well-made, with great details and colors. It even has some spilled blood... The guns can be removed and although I didn't try, they seem to be able to fit on the characters hand. The cape is made of some sort of rubber, making it more resistant and less likely to break. The only bad thing is that the flag that came with the statue fits loosely on the rock and hangs to the left side of the character. There's no way I can leave it turned to the right side, ate the back of the assassin. Overall, it's a great statue.... Very similar to those Sideshow Collectibles...

The flag (real flag) is not cotton-made as I would expect it to be. The colors are great though.

The belt buckle is metal-made, and looks fine, although I don't really think I'm ever gonna wear that...

The included journal is really great and looks like a real journal. As other users mentioned, the covers should really be leather-made, not paper. There were some pages that were not separated from each other. Nothing that a sharp knife wouldn't fix.... But I happened to cut one page I shouldn't. My bad....

Despite the minor flaws, I would rate this AC edition 5/5.... I loved it so much I will definitely only buy special editions of my favorite games (as often as I can afford them....) it's a little pricy, but I think it's worth it.

It's a great addition to any AC series fan. I definitely recommend it. Trust me, buy it or you'll regret it!

You can find so many reviews for this game all over the place, so I'll just review this as the limited edition packaged version.

First off, the Connor statuette, the biggest selling point for the limited edition, is rendered in fabulous detail. It would have been nice to get a version with his hood down since most commercial statues and toys all have the hood up, but that's just my personal opinion. His weapons and hidden blades are also artfully crafted, and while they appear delicate they are actually quite strong. This is a fantastic addition to any toy/statue collection, especially for AC fans.

Washington's Journal was a last minute entry to the Limited Edition and you can tell. It's smaller than I thought it would be, but the worst thing about it is that the pages aren't fully cut. When you open this make sure to have a razor on hand to separate the pages. However, the content inside makes this a nice complimentary piece to the Assassin's Creed Encyclopedia found on ubiworkshop.com.

The revolutionary Flag, also a major selling point to this edition, is not as "authentic" in appearance as the version sold on ubiworkshop.com. It's thick polyester with jagged seams and uneven stripes, but the colors are also very garish so it doesn't have the "authentic" look as period item should. It would have been nice to get in more natural colors instead of this bright shiny modern polyester. The uneven stripes and the "Made in China" tag might also be a bit of a turnoff for anyone with more patriotic leanings. I had intended to use it as a costuming prop so my opinion is probably harsher than most on this particular item.

The AC belt buckle is fantastic quality, with a nice brushed nickel finish and sturdy hardware for actual use. It's not available separately at ubiworkshop.com which only offers really over-the-top AC belt buckles, so this item is a must have for a hardcore fan.

The Playstation exclusive in-game items vary from vendor to vendor so I'll skip over those as I'm sure plenty of reviewers have covered them already.

Overall, I'd say the limited version was "okay." I personally couldn't use the two items I was looking forward to most (the flag and the buckle--the buckle being much too large for a petite woman like myself) but the statue is phenomenal and George Washington's journal is a fun piece for researching background AC lore. Overall the polish was disappointing (poor construction of the flag, and George Washington's journal still needing to be cut!) which is ultimately why I gave it a 3 instead of a 4.

Assassin's Creed III may be the third main title in the Assassin's Creed series, but it is the fifth over all, that of course is not including any of the handheld games. Ubisoft has done a good job of stripping away some of the unnecessary fat that was starting to thicken up the series in game play and mechanics, but also leave the game with some new stuff to try and make Assassin's Creed III a little different than what we have been playing the last few years. The downside of this comes with much more bugs and glitches in the game as a whole, more than any of the other games in the series have had altogether. Ubisoft said a small team was developing this title ever sense they finished up the second game while other teams worked on Brotherhood and Revelations and once those were done they all came together to finish three. I can not believe that at all with some of the problems this game has.

Assassin's Creed III, just like all the other games takes the story to a time in our history that no other games ever tread upon and it does a remarkable job of making it fun to play in and tells a relatively well crafted story. The ambition that Ubisoft puts forth in overcoming the challenges for game play and mechanics in this series is defiantly impressive to say the least. This time around the game takes players to the American Revolutionary War as you see some of America's earliest and most historical events through the eyes of the once again upstart assassin's guild.

The modern day world is the backdrop to the series, although everything that Desmond is learning within the animus from his ancestors is to save the world. A lot of the end game of the past Assassin's Creed games have done nothing but add more questions to the story as a whole in the modern day in the series. Finally after all this time there was a lot of closer to Desmond and the fight between the modern day assassins and Templars. In addition the whole saving the world aspect that was sprinkled in during modern day missions after the second game has also been tied up. All of this however feels like it was quickly slapped together and shoehorned into the game. Maybe it is because answers to long lasting mysteries, like those that this series creates are never as satisfying as one likes to hope.

The modern day story with Desmond still takes a backseat in Assassin's Creed III much like it was with all the others, however there is much more done with Desmond this time around more than any of the other games. Revelations tried bring more out of Desmond's story, but failed miserable with horrible first-person platform puzzle levels. In Assassin's Creed III, Desmond has full on missions he must complete, albeit the reasoning is limited, but the fact that you get to take control of Desmond on missions that almost rival those of the regular missions we have come to love from all the games. It is about time you really get the feeling that Desmond is a true assassin. As he hides in crowds, climbs buildings and fights his way out of trouble with guards.

Assassin's Creed III serves up some daddy issues between Desmond and his father, which at the start is quite annoying, but mixing that with everything going on for Desmond it starts to get its hooks into you as they learn to band together while facing their differences. It also makes there feel like more of a connection between Desmond and the real star of this game, Connor Kenway. He was born of an English man and a Native American woman. He and his tribe live in the Northeast of America during the Revolutionary War. Connor has been caught in the middle of a lot in his years as a young adult, between the assassins and Templars and that of his native people and the European colonists. Connor is quickly thrown in after his first taste of knowledge of the apple and he never looks back as he learns to become an assassin. His unwavering honor for justice and for protecting his people is what makes him such a great character has he has the Revolutionary War pushed upon him.

American history always glorified the founding fathers of our nation, but of course the Revolutionary War was like that of any war, which was full of compromises to bad situations at best. Assassin's Creed III lays some of that out for us, which humanizes some of the icons that we as Americans have looked up to our entire lives. It is an interesting way to look at how the war went at the same time really draws you into the game. Historical moments have always been a huge part of the Assassin's Creed games, but in Assassin's Creed III Connor's story is neatly tied into the actual war itself in ways that the series has rarely approached. Not only are you witnessing historical events like The Boston Tea Party, but Connor actually takes action in all of them. It works well for the most part, but then there are other times such as Connor riding the horse that Paul Revere rode to warn people that the British were coming, situations like that felt shoehorned in, as if Paul Revere was too incompetent to do it on his own. It would have been better to follow along behind him and have to take out any redcoats along the way.

The geography of Assassin's Creed III is very important to mention here. The series spent the majority of its time in eras and places with large buildings, but Assassin's Creed III look a large step back and that weighed on a lot of peoples mind leading up to the games release. Many people were unsure if climbing and rooftop running would be as fun in cities like Boston and New York in the mid 1700's with so many low standing buildings and they had the same fear about the tree top running in the open wilderness between cities. It has been a long time since the very first game, but there were some areas in that game that had no tall buildings and in the open areas of the first game between cities hardly had anything at all to climb and that worked out just fine. So it is no real surprise that free running through the towns in Assassin's Creed III works great and is still a lot of fun. Also the treetop running in the wild is a blast too. Going from tree branch to tree branch is very fluid and works without any hassle. It would have been nice to be able to use more trees in the cities as well while free running.

Over the past few games Ubisoft has added a lot of things to do on the side, some might say to the point of over stuffing the player with content, much like some of the issues with Revelations. However in Assassin's Creed III Ubisoft has take out some of the extra and streamline other content. There is still plenty to do on the side in the third game, although some of it doesn't feel as fulfilling. There are some liberation missions that you can start up and when you get into these situations they are usually very easy and quick to get through making them feel almost nonexistent. The game does offer some side missions you can do to buildup the homestead, which is the land Connor lives on. Doing these missions will have these people come stay on your land and you can use their goods for things you need or to be able to make things. It is a different approach to the whole banking thing and building up workshops in the last couple of Assassin's Creed games. It works well and makes the homestead feel cozy when running around hunting animals and being able to stop and talk to these people for more than just to get something out of them. Most of the disconnect from the side missions is brought on by the newer version of fast travel system. A lot of areas you can simply jump from where ever you are to the edge of the city and into the next area, were as the fast travel system of the last couple games you had to find tunnels which made the things available to do around the areas more accessible while running around.

This is the third straight Assassin's Creed game to offer a unique multiplayer and Ubisoft continues to build onto the multiplayer in each iteration. When the multiplayer was first brought to the players in Brotherhood I quickly fell in love with it. It was something completely different and refreshing from anything else out there. Now even though the main concept of the multiplayer has not changed, Ubisoft has added in many things to try to keep players playing online. Now I hardly touched the multiplayer in Revelations, so some of this might have been added in that game. You can customize your favorite characters in many different ways, such as clothing, colors and weapon type. There is even a new sound cues for when you have your target insight or when the person targeting you is closing in on you. There is also a new co-op structure to the multiplayer called "Wolf Pack". I have not yet played this mode, but it appears to be a wave based horde mode for you and your friends to assassinate bad guys.

Assassin's Creed III had big shoes to fill and it did a good job of it, ignoring many of the games glitches and bugs. They story was told very well, although it had a very slow start to it. The characters are well developed, the scenery is amazing and the idea of taking control of an assassin during the Revolutionary War was great. It may not be Assassin's Creed at its finest, Assassin's Creed III had some missteps throughout the game, but the characters, story and gameplay make it easy to turn a blind eye to a lot of it and the mechanics are successful enough for introducing some new game play elements.
