Is it enjoyable yes. Is the game broken unfortunately yes. You think they would fix alot of things that was wrong with it the first time before rereleasing it on the ps3 instead of just adding new features. Far as i know they have since i have not played the xbox or pc versions so for all i know it could be a ton better but still kinda bad.
First of all this game is best suited for people who love sniping. People who hate sniping or aren't very good at it will probably hate this game. Does this game have it's faults yes many, but the sniping makes up for it(atleast for me). If you can over look some of its faults you can really enjoy a game like this. Now for the breakdown...
The good :)
Graphics aren't amazing but pretty good for a modern shooter. Nothing Battlefield or Cod worth but definitely better looking than Medal of Honor.
Sound is great. The music during the missions adds to the tension of being shot at while trying to snipe people and not getting noticed. Also the sound that a silenced sniper rifle makes is just awesome.
Bullet cam. This is the best part of the game IMO. You setup your shot, measure wind, monitor your breathing keeping it steady (shooting during exhales increases accuracy for those long shots), guessing when to aim your shots so it won't get interrupted by the rain/wind, measuring bullet drop (the further your enemy is the more likely gravity will pull the bullet down so you need to aim over your target). For those of you who are lazy Easy and Normal modes of the game come with all that factored in an easy to read red dot. Point, shoot and then watch your shot travel all the way to your enemy. Glorious!!! Another use for the bullet cam would be to scope out the area to see where other enemies would be hiding since your bullet pretty much acts as a really fast disposable camera lol.
The bad :(
The AI is terrible. Laying down in prone and picking off a battalion of enemies is fun but i was hoping for a challenge. Why give us claymores and C4 when the enemy doesn't even come to look for you. When one of their friends gets taken out they run for for 4 feet then just duck. Yes they just duck. For casual sniping fans who are playing on easy, normal this is awesome you just keep getting more crazy headshots and more bullet cams but i was expecting better than that.
Glitches galore. Some are good like being able to exploit the poor level/movement design and climb up rocks very cheaply and have great vantage points to snipe from. Also you can use this same glitch to possibly bypass entire camps by glitching your way up a wall instead of having to carefully snipe/sneak your way through.
Then there is bad glitches, like the trophies glitch. It's not bad if your not a trophy hound but if you are it is very time consuming to have to redo tasks over and over because the game reads things you haven't done yet as already done and therefore it wont unlock. There are a number of trophies in the game that won't pop even if you have done it 5+ times. Example "One shot, Two Kills", the shoot 2 enemies with one bullet trophy i've done atleast 10 times before i seen it pop. Another notorious trophy is the "Fallen Eagle" Trophy where you need to shoot 10 eagles out of the sky. Apparently if you can't unlock this trophy the other trophies in the game won't unlock causing some people to have to delete their saves and play the game over from scratch. So its advised to get that trophy out of the way during the tutorial. If it doesn't pop you don't have to go far when you start over.
The movement and level design mechanics are broken and annoying. If you jump over anything you will end up slipping and getting stuck into crevaces alot! When your crouched you can't climb stairs. It is advised to crouch everywhere to avoid being spotted so being crouched when sneaking through an enemy camp is usually what you will be doing alot unless you need to climb something. So you end up having to stand up and possibly make noise in order to climb stairs and risk being seen.
The rest :/
This is not a COD type game but if you wanted to you can pick up an Assault rifle and go through the game setting off alarms, shooting people and lobbing grenades to your hearts desire like in any COD game. That sounds awesome to some people but for me i thought the whole point of a game like this was stealth seeing how its called Sniper: GHOST warrior. But the game doesn't really punish you for setting off alarms so its possible to go through the game clumsy as hell just shooting people left and right with no regard for stealth whatsoever. Meh...
The main game is pretty easy (even on hard). As long as your used to setting up your shot, know about bullet drop, leading your bullets for moving targets and everything else involved the game isn't that hard. It is extremely rewarding to pull off bullet cams without the red dot telling you where to aim and also very frustrating for some of the longer shots in the game. Thank god a good chunk of the sniper rifles you use are semi-automatic and not single shot or i would have failed some of the time sensitive kill shots. I.e. Sniping a general standing on top of a moving yacht from 350 meters away before he sails off, or trying to hit a sniper in a communications tower from 250 meters away while jets are flying over head masking your shots.
The bonus missions and the challenge mode which is the new features in the game is the hardest part of the game and yet the most glitched. It is very fun but at some point the glitchiness of the game makes getting those trophies a chore. In every new level there is a possible glitch that will make you not get the trophy for that level, so you will end up having to delete your save and try again.
Much like the rest of the game the multiplayer is not great but pretty fun. A big map with a ton of campers usually would suck for people who love action but there is also the choice of running around and gunning people down with your handgun. I found the most fun playing on the tower map where you have to snipe people in other towers while trying not to get sniped yourself.
Far as i can see the game is imperfect that is probably why it was released for $40. But it is definitely fun, if you into a somewhat realistic sniper shooter with long distance cinematic head/body shots. If you like that sort of thing then i say give this game a try.
To sum It all up
Graphics 8+
Sound 9
AI 5
Glitched trophies (unacceptable) 0
The Extras 9
The Sniping 11

This game is not for people who want to use rock n roll and run around like chickens with their heads cut off. I play R n R games too, but, I also have a special appreciation for sniper games. My brother sent me this game and I am very happy that he did, it's a great game! There are parts of the game that work differently than I feel they should, but, it's a game. What amazes me is how much the game captures the art of being a sniper. Not only do you have to shoot distant targets, you have to get to them. The time era looks like the 1980's and earlier with the jungle camies and outside roll.I started in hardcore mode and highly suggest that you do too. After I completed hardcore mode I played the other modes to see how they were and they are for players who are new to shooting games. The red dot displays the actual spot of impact when not on hardcore, don't cheat yourself by using the easier levels that use the red dot. Instead get your money's worth and start on hardcore, you can always play the lower levels afterwards.
Things I truely enjoyed in this game:
Part's of it are like a puzzle, you have to figure out the best way to advance. Some sections have alarms that sound if you make an error, but, there are times you still need to shoot someone. These can get tricky depending on the route you have choosen. There are times it is better to use your pistol vice your rifle, I won't spoil those for you.
Little things like the helo not touching the ground when you deploy out of it are important for the sniper theme, no imprints left behind. Other theme related things like grappling hook and climbing to get to a snipe position, use of cables to transverse an area, and a gillie suit all add to the sniper theme. Breathing with the scope on 4x will drive you crazy after a fast run across an area, it does calm down. One thing I like about the breathing is they are not using the figure 8 pattern, instead just a fairly steady vertical breathing pattern which is much better.
As far as missions, I have some I enjoy more than others, but, I enjoyed all of them. I haven't tried online much, but, it seems like it might be a pretty nice game if your with a good group of people. The one time I did try online the pace was not as hectic as in R n R games. What don't I like? I'm not going to bother with complaints, I'm very happy with the game and I'm sure the few little things I think are off have already been mentioned on other posts.
A few things I would like to see in the next Sniper Ghost Warrior version:
1. Hell Hole drop from a 53, not fast roping. Maybe use X with a downward view to lock for the pop and if not timed correctly I would get an injury or knocked out from the rope. At minimum a cutscene would really be nice to follow the theme.
2. The ability to stop at any position while roping and use weapons. Vertical rotation would be useful for headfirst decents. More area's that use the option to rope or go around where, roping saves time and going around is less dangerous.
3. As another reviewer wrote to freeroam the map, that would be awesome!
4. There is water and helo's, how about a water extraction?
5. On hardcore mode, don't show the roping spots in red. If I can use the hook I should be able to find the spot to throw it.
6. Not all tango's are displayed as red dots on the radar, there are suprises. In hardcore mode there should be no red dots at all.
7. One absolute item that I enjoyed about this game is that the AI don't talk as nasty as in many other military games. I really would like an option to turn off the vulgar speech. I would rather the AI have a humerous option that would have them say silly things.
Overall: Great game if you want to take your time and stalk the enemy. This is definitely the first realistic FPS war game I've bought. Normally play Crysis 2 and MOH. Little bit of COD/Halo.
I was about to buy the 360 version when I scrolled a little bit more down and saw the PS3 release date wasn't far. Because of the bonus content I opted for this version obviously. Unlike other reviewers, I find that PS3 re-releases usually hold up to the blu-ray name.
Having never played a game with bullet drop or wind/humidity resistance, I wanted to see what it was all about. I read that there's a little red dot if you don't play on hardcore so I skipped all the easy breezy bull. I never look at mini maps on games because I always forget they're there. Sometimes when I'm stumped on where the enemy is I look. But that hardly ever helps. So I play the game like (how I think) a sniper would function in real life. I crawl most of the levels through for fear of enemies seeing me run. If I blow my position in a stupid way I restart last checkpoint. If I miss I have to watch for where the miss hit(super hard past 300m) and adjust that way. I use my silenced pistol for close range and there is bullet drop on the .45 even. That being said, the AI is stupid. But it is in pretty much all games. Who cares how dumb it is when I can smoke em from 300m+ anyways(longest shots I've even seen so far).
My only other complaint(4 star rating) is that very trace amounts of the ground texture is stupid when you try to crawl over it. Like an inch high rock keeps you stuck. Luckily this hasn't been in any location that I absolutely needed to be all the way down for.
Admittedly I only just beat Act II today. But I already love the game. If you love the idea of being All Ghillie'd Up you'll favor this game. I excel in stealth missions on video games. Maybe its cuz they're easier, but I am way better at them. So I wanted a total immersion of stealth in my next FPS. Sniper: Ghost Warrior is exactly that. If you like crawlin around on your ass for 30 minutes just to get in one small vantage point for one small complicated shot, buy this. Its easy to see that the level designers put all kinds of different and badass cover spots for sniping. Its not sandbox shooter, but its fairly close in some cases. There is quite a bit of freedom for a game that gives you dots to walk too. Graphics= great. Mission plots= awesome. Sound(I turned the stupid music off)=amazing.
You will get stuck and you will get frustrated at some things. But the Bullet Cam makes up for everything when that drug dealer does a back flip from a .338 through his left eye socket.
Bottom Line: if your looking for a degree of realism not seen in blockbuster shooters, and you WANT TO SNIPE, buy this. OFP: Red River is next on the list after this( I figure I'll be tired of sneaking around but wanna keep the realistic effects of warfare)
I wanted to review the whole game, but I couldn't wait I like this game so much.

I am big fan of Snipers and what they do in the military. I love to read books, watch TV shows, and movies about them, so I have been looking forward to this title on the PS3. I can say that at this point I am having a lot of fun playing this game. There are some faults, as others have mentioned, but it has not taken away from my enjoyment of it.The biggest fault is the AI in the game. It can be almost too good sometimes at detecting you and other times the exact opposite. I have noticed however that most FPS single player game modes are scripted so if you do not follow the script the AI can act unusual. In any case I have adapted my gameplay to try and compensate for the way the AI acts so it does not bother me that much.
The fun part is sneaking around in the grass and taking out targets that cannot see you. You cannot run into an area and spray bullets since you have a bolt action sniper rifle and a revolver. Instead the strategy is to sneak in using grass and obstacles to hide around why you attempt to locate targets and take them out one by one from a distance. This means that each shot you take needs to be precise. The game does a good job of recreating the ballistic elements of having to adjust your aim for wind and gravity. The first two difficulty levels provide a red dot showing where you need to aim to hit the target and it is rarely dead center. In hard mode you will have to consider the wind and distance from the target yourself because the red dot is gone which adds a lot more realism to the experience. If the game were more "realistic" in this area it would be frustrating to master but there are enough helps to make you a good marksman while still requiring some precision to do it right.
One reviewer mentioned that you can see all of the targets on the map which makes the game easy, this is not true. There are many targets that are hidden that the map does not show at first or at all. Finding the hidden targets usually requires movement and a lot of scanning with your scope. As you take out targets the map may reveal additional ones but you cannot assume all enemies in an area are clear when the map is empty. If you have to replay a section the map will be different each time as to what contacts show up and what do not. If you get killed a few times you will learn where those hidden targets are or at least their general direction. Then you need to form a strategy on how best to take them out without exposing yourself. This is another fun part of the game because how you approach the targets becomes just as critical as killing them.
Despite a few faults this is still a fun game to play and I am enjoying it a lot. It is nice deviation from the other games out there today.I got this about two days early, and have beaten it on two skill levels so far. I read some of the other reviews, and I don't agree with them at all! I'm an avid COD player, and so I must say that this game is nothing like COD (Call Of Duty: modern warfare). It is not true that all the shots are up close, or that the enemy sees you right away, and so you can't sneak up on them. You can, you just have to use stealth and strategy! The shots are a bit less than the real guns can do (in real life), but they are not bad. I really liked this game, and am glad I got it. It is NOT a good game for all you QS'ers and "run and gun" ers! Sorry, but there are no such glitches for you to cheat with. (That I know of.)
