I played many rounds of both VT1 & 2 for the dreamcast. The refined simple controls and time killing minigames of those two titles are replicated well in this new version. The graphics are a bit of a throwback but aren't that bad just a little rough. If you came for a full fledged MOVE experience you will be disappointed the bite sized exhibition and party game portion of the game controls well but is over quickly. I don't mind as it really feels like an extra and I don't think I want to play every match with move support (the option would be nice). The controls however open up the possibility for the next game in the series to really take advantage of 1:1 movement control. I like the standard dual shock control and for the roughly 30.00 price tag feel as though I got a game that will keep me coming back, progressing through the difficulty levels of the excellent career mode and engaging in some local multiplayer. If you are a fan of the series and its tilt to the arcade side of things then this shouldn't disappoint but don't expect much out of the MOVE control until the next game. 3&1/2 stars rounded up.

I play 6-10 hours a week of real tennis & have played a lot of tennis video games (Top Spin 1-4, Grand Slam Tennis & Virtua Tennis 1-3). I read a lot of negative reviews on this game (although some found it fun). As for me, I was looking for a tennis game I could use the Move with -since I found a cheap $49 Move Bundle w/Tiger Woods 12 & enjoyed Grand Slam Tennis on the Wii (my favorite tennis game). While Top Spin 4 is a good sim, it's not good using the Move controller. Despite the negative reviews of VT4, I sensed that people enjoyed the Move controls & simply didn't like that it wasn't available in career mode (the back of the box does clearly indicate Move support for exibition & party games only). Anyways, found the game for $20 bucks so I bought it and here are my impressions:1) Unique Move Tennis experience. Yes it's only supported in exhibition but it's fun. Some people, like me -are looking for simple controls and 30 minutes of pick-up & play fun. That's what you get here.
3) Good old Arcade fun. Cool ground strokes and slams. Overall good graphics. Not too complicated -simple controls.
3) Nice roster -Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray, Del Potro plus legends and a better women's roster than TS4.
4) Those looking for a realistic tennis sim, you'll be pleased with Top Spin 4 or wait for Grand Slam Tennis 2.
5) You can get it cheap. Good fun for $20 bucks (even on release day, Amazon.com sold it for $32 instead of $49).
I gave it 5 stars due to fun and value.
Amazon sells it for $32.49 with free shipping. For that price, give it a shot. Motion control works better than Top Spin 4 PS3 and Racquet Sports.
I go into further detail in my video review.
Main positive is that VT4 implements 1:1 VERY well.
Main negative is that there isn't a tournament mode for Move players.
Please check out the video review for further details.

i bought this because i am a tennis freak but with the move this is not a very realistic game. you can swing any way and you will hit the ball back. gets boring quick no challenge. If you want a sports tennis game for the move get sports champions 2. the tennis in that beats this game by 100%.Want Virtua Tennis 4 Discount?
Recently I was remembering my old N64 and playing Mario Tennis. I started looking into tennis games to look for an arcade style game that could satisfy my hunger for a simple and fun tennis video game like Mario Tennis. I heard VT4 was an arcadey tennis game so I figured it would be somewhat similar. This game is fun, its easy and kind of cheesy sometimes but its very fun. Its not a hardcore tennis sim, its just a simple pick up and play game. The world tour is OK but you spend way too much time moving around the board game type map, and it makes it a bit annoying. The arcade mode and exhibition modes are very fun, straight to the point. The roster is great and you can also create your own player for the World Tour and use it in the other modes. Haven't played online yet or with the MOVE but I heard it works great, Move only available for exhibition mode I believe. The music is also annoying but it can be turned off. I would have liked to have the option to use a personalized soundtrack like with Sports Champions, but its a minor thing. In the end, if you want a simple, fun, and addictive tennis game a la Mario Tennis 64 then Virtua Tennis is just that. Very fun and highly recommended if that is the case. If you want a sim type game, then get Top Spin.
