First of all I want you to know that I'm a huge fan of the Playstation Move and I get really frustrated to see that most of the games don't use its full potential. I am very critical and careful when I choose which Move game to buy. After reading reviews, playing the demo and doing a lot of research I decided to buy "Carnival Island" and I really think this is the best Move game there is right now to play with the family. Here's why:

I have been following Playstation Move since they announced it. I have played ALL of the Move games there are available today and the best ones are the ones that make you feel in TOTAL control of the objects or characters that you control or interact with. Of all these games here's a list of all the best games and reasons why "Carnival Island" is the best Move family game made to date: (Note: I'm not counting First Person Shooters in this list just because they're more of a single player experience.)

Casual Family Games:

1. Carnival Island: This is simply the most fun we've had together with ANY Move game so far. My wife is not really competitive or into sports that much so when I wanted to play Sports Champions with her it was more frustration than fun for her and since I'm more competitive it wasn't fun for me either. This game has the accuracy of sports champions but it's a lot more casual and the fact that you can play SIDE BY SIDE makes it ten times better! This is super important to have fun! I don't know why game developers haven't realized that it is NOT fun to sit and watch ONE person playing and then wait for another 3 turns (if you are 4) to get a chance to play. It doesn't matter how many points people are making, it will just be fun for 10 minutes until everyone starts to get bored. Carnival Island takes care of this problem by having most of the games be side by side with 2 Move controllers and this is the main reason I'm giving it 5 stars. It's not perfect by no means. People complain about loading times but this issue is only present in the single player campaign. Multiplayer deserves a 5 star because there's a lot of variety in the motions you have to make rather than just wave and wave like in "Start the Party" where ALL the activities are about waving your arm around in 2 dimensions. Be it Smashing bugs, catching pizza ingredients, popping balloons, etc etc. It's just all the same. In Carnival Island you play in 3 dimensions. You have: Hoops(basketball), rings, shooting, mini bowling, coin tossing etc.. It's just fun and requires technique and real life motions. This is where the Move really shows how great and engaging it is when it's done right.

Music it's good. It's pleasant without being obnoxious. Designs are fun and colors too. It's not perfect and it could be so much better in a lot of areas but the gameplay and fun time we've had this first week has definitely made this worth the 30 bucks. Just be patients with the Single Player side and enjoy the Multiplayer! You'll have a lot of fun with your family and friends.

2. Start the Party: No side by side. Great graphics and fun mini games but they can get repetitive. Better for kids.

Competitive + sports Family/friends games:

1. Sports Champions: Great game but not for everyone. Super accurate. My favorite is table tennis. They really messed up by not adding online multiplayer.

2. The fightLights out: this is more of a fitness game. You get A LOT of exercise with this one. It's more of a real fight simulator than a game. That's the reason reviewers hated it because they approached it as a "game" rather than a "simulator" which is what it is. Online multiplayer is REALLY fun!

Puzzle Family/friends games:

1. Tumble: Great puzzle game jenga style. You get side by side here in the multiplayer. Requires more patience and time to play it. Super accurate but physics lack realism and gravity. Everything feels like if you're in the moon. I hate the developers for this.

So, in conclusion. Carnival Island deserves your time and money. It came kind of late to the collection of Playstation Move games but I hope Sony can learn from their mistakes and put more effort into the Move because it's such a great piece of technology that it's being wasted. The Move would've had a lot more success if they had released 2 Move bundles: 1 with Sports Champions for the more competitive, hardcore gamers/families and the other one with Carnival Island for the more casual families with maybe some kids that just want to have a good time together.

I purchased this game because my 5 year old boy loves "Start the Party" for the PS3 MOVE, and figured this would be another fun addition for him to play. We picked this up on the release night, and played it as a family, and I have to say it sure is fun. The little guy was able to figure out all the movements, and beat his mom and dad at a bunch on the games.

While not being the fastest loading game ever, it sure made one 5 year old keep saying "Awesome" over and over again. This is a great addition to any collection of games if you have kids, or just like to have some fun.

Critics reviews were bad so I was hesitant to get this game, but after playing for a while and watching my kids give it a try I would absolutely recommend this game to any FAMILIES that are looking for a fun time. I cant say that I would purchase this title otherwise if it were for myself or just a good casual game.

Pros: -Fun assortment of mini-games keep kids and families engaged to try to achieve the next game.

-Controller is easy to setup and very accurate

Cons: -Long loading screens

-Miner screen tearing and graphical hiccups on occasion

I must say when I purchased this game I had little to no expectations because all the Move games I have played up until this were not very good. I am 20 years old and this game is directed more towards a younger audience but I found this game to be quite pleasing. It utilized the move controls well and until I managed to beat the game in about 4 hours of playing time, during that short time I had one of the best Move expierences to date. If you are getting this for a child under 14 they will love it, it's entertaining and easy to pick up on but towards the final stages it can get quite difficult. I give it a 4/5 just for the simple fact that it wasn't very long but the games in it were entertaining and like I said I am pleasantly suprised.
