In Atelier Rorona, you play as an alchemist who has to save her shop by fufilling certain requests from the kingdom, such as alchemizing a certain type of item (the most common), or clearing an area of creatures, or gathering a lot of a certain item. You also have to rank up the friendship of the townspeople and your companions by doing the same things.
There are dungeons around the map that you can go to which contain ingredients you need for alchemy and monsters that you can defeat in order to gain items you need for alchemy. Everywhere you go and everything that you alchemize takes a certain amount of days, and you only have a total of 3 years in the game, so you have to be really careful about what you choose to do at any time.
The combat in this game is pretty simplistic in this game, but since Atelier Rorona, unlike other recent games in the Atelier series, is not primarily RPG-based, this really doesn't pose much of a problem. Fighting monsters is really only a sidebar to alchemy and building relationships.
What else is there to say... there are several endings to the game, the character art and event CGs are gorgeous, to the point where I had to buy the art book (which is actually available in english), and the entire thing is just really fun and addictive

The more important details to this game is that it changes drastically compared to the previous "Atelier" series from NISAmerica.There's a lot of change that has made it somewhat troublesome. The gameplay pace doesn't seem to give you "how should I time my atks to finish this?"
The story plot and charater/voice acting was what kept me to finish playing the game. It has a good stream flow that draws you in.
One important thing you should do is make a backup save when you get to the next assignment.
