if all you care about is looks and need a 4 port usb hub for about $20. by all means buy this. if not, move on. other products that do more for less exist.

the unit comes in two parts, a main unit and an expansion module. the main unit plugs into both usb ports on the front of your slim and gives you two extra ports, 3 in front, and 1 one the side. a tiny 5v input tucked on the lower left side out of sight is there if you need more current supply for usb charging duties, but the aapter is not included. the three usb slots in front are covered by a nice little plastic door that keeps your playstation looking sleek, but if you are like me and have a plastation eye constantly connected, this is of little matter as it's always open. there is an i/r port in front that looks cool and flashes blue on power up, but the remote with the i/r codes nesassary to take advantage of this is not included. if you already have this remote than great. i don't, and i can't find one for sale on amazon or a retailer i trust, so aside from looks that fact pretty much blows any reason for buying this over the less expensive powerA version out of the water.

the expansion module gives the set the size and astetheices nessasary to make you 'feel' like this should be worth $20, but falls flat in what it does. by letting this piece take up the side usb port you get a retractible usb mini 'b' cord that at a little over a foot, is not long enough to do anything than charging duty. there is no extra usb port on the side of this piece so if there are ever any expansion modules sold, this will obviously have to be the end piece. another annoyance is that this also obscures the HDD and WiFi led lights, i actully look at these lights to tell if i'm in hte middle of a game save or the status of my downloads. if you are a neat freak than having a retractble cord may be nice, but i would hae liked to option of chosing for myself in a seperate purchase.

the other reason the powerA set is a better buy is because it can read SD cards and other flash media. if they sold seperatly a module that could read SD card and memory stick media, or accept sony DVD/BD player i/r codes, i would be more than happy. they put all this potential in what this product could be, but seem to have no heart in following up with more product options. i may get board one day and craft my own. but i shouldn't have too.

It works well for expanding the USB capability. Not sure if the IR actually works. It didn't work with my Logitec Harmony remote. For whatever reason there is an electrical input for an AC adapter on it. Not sure what the use is as it doesn't come with one.
