I ordered this mat earlier this week, and the only good thing about it is the very fast shipping and handling. I assumed somehow that this would be superior to DDR's stock dance mat, being wireless and all.

I was completely wrong. The mat moves around very easily, and the durable cover gives it more height than the original dance mat--that is, moving from one arrow to another is not nearly as seamless since you have to actually pick up your foot an extra quarter-inch or so with every step. Due to this effect, the arrows don't seem to be spaced out the same as my other mat, and my brief time playing with it was very frustrating. The arrows are definitely smaller than the stock mat, and much harder to find with your feet. And then you have to virtiually stomp on the arrows to get them to work.

Another review mentioned that this mat lags to some extent--this is absolutely true. Playing on difficult is impossible with this mat. I haven't tried tinkering with the sound settings, but I fear this may also affect my other (stock) mat's playing ability. For myself, I'm returning this immediately and going with another mat. This time I'll try a wired mat to avoid any possibility of lag.

I bought this Dance Pad for use with my 60GB PlayStation 3 console, and yes, it works. I will also mention that this pad will also work for PlayStation 2 consoles, the wireless receiver has a USB and a PS2 connector, which I wasn't aware of and come as a pleasant surprise. Straight out of box, the pad had some lag which made the game I was playing (Dance Dance Revolution Extreme) impossible to play on any HD display [would probably work just fine out of box on Standard Definition TVs].

After fiddling with the sound timing (in the options menu, sub-menu "Sound Settings"), I finally got it working near perfectly. The pad itself is thin, does not come with any foam inserts, so its a bit harder on the feet. The "no-slip" texture on the bottom is alright, but if you are doing anything past Medium skill level there will definitely be unwanted movement/shifting of the pad on carpet, might work better on wood/tiled floors.

All of the arrows are responsive, jumps work just fine. Setup is pretty easy, just plug the USB into any slot on your PS3 and the receiver will start flashing. Make sure that the ON/OFF switch on the pad is set to ON, and then push and hold the SYNC button on the receiver until the flashing changes, then hit the HOME button on the Dance Pad, and you should notice the receiver lights 1 and 2 stay lit. When you start the game it may ask you to "press the PS button", in which case you simply hit the HOME button on the pad again and everything is good to go.

Pros:

Works as intended for PS3 60GB console

Connects easily to both PS3 and PS2 Consoles

2.4Ghz Wireless is responsive to all input once you properly compensate for the lag in game menu.

Cons:

Thin, no foam insert.

Non-Slip surface on bottom isn't great on carpet.

Out-of-box use is impossible on HD monitor/television, must "calibrate" lag manually in game menu.

All in all, not a bad option for the PS3 if you want a wireless pad.

I'm not sure if it's because it is wireless or what but there is always a delay that makes it almost impossible to dance properly. I have to precise that our performance is way better on the original wired mat provided with DDR for PS3

This is our first dance pad so we can't give a good comparison on other wired mats against this wireless/battery powered mat. After reading other reviews though I can tell you what we've experienced with this one in comparison to theirs.

My son only played on it twice but for about an hour each time. This mat does have some sort of lag to it and it is rather "puffy" which makes it a bit harder to move about. I heard the phrase "what the crap, I totally hit that one" quite a few times. We have not experienced any trouble with slipping, yet.

We use PS3 250GB Console, game used with pad is Dance Dance Revolution, television is NOT HD and carpet is low grade industrial like carpet (our landlord is cheap).

Pros:

It worked right out of the box with our PS3

Every button works on the pad.

Cons:

While it didn't take long to flatten it from shipping it's a bit poofy and crinkles loudly during gameplay.

Seems to lag sometimes on certain moves.

If you move it more than two feet it doesn't find the wireless connection.

I think all in all it's an ok pad. My son tends to play Just Dance 4 which requires no pad and seems 10x more fun than DDR anyway. I'm not disappointed with the dance mat because even with it's faults, it works and I didn't spend a fortune on it. (I did after all only pay $5 for the used game to begin with.) If we were to recommend something however, we agree we should have gotten a wired mat like the one that would have come with it. I will try to play with sound options to see if this improves lag.

When reading the other reviews, I assumed the lag issue people had was the audio/video lag caused by an HD tv. After using the pad, I realized that the lag is a delay in the signal from the pad. The result is you have to press the button early in order for it to register in time. In a timing based game like ddr, this renders the pad USELESS. You can correct for this, but if you have two pads and only one has this problem. Then you've just made the lag bad for the other controller. I am returning the pad and buying a different one.
