I bought 2 of these guitar controllers so I could play GH 1, 2 and 80's that I have for PS2 on PS3. I bought them from the ezgear company and the guitar only worked on GH 3 for PS3, I couldn't get it to work with any of the 3 other GH games I had for PS2, so I e-mailed ezgear from their website and asked them if there was something I had to do, or am I doing something wrong? They e-mailed me back stating they are changing their website because this guitar does NOT work with any of the PS2 GH's on PS3! I was kinda upset because this was the main reason I bought THEM! It worked fine on GH3 for PS3 and I am stuck with them since they WOULD NOT take them back! Even though they made the error!
So, my conclusion simply is, if you want or need a second guitar and like wired instead of wireless, yes this is a good guitar and haven't had any problems with it on the GH3 for PS3, but I gave it only 3 stars for the mis-leading! Pretty bad when a company makes a huge error in marketing like that and doesn't even offer to take their product back. Even on the box it is printed "works with PS2 guitar hero games on PS3"!

Purchased this for Rock Band PS3. System reads it as microphone. Don't waste your money.Buy Playstation 3 ezJam S10 Wired Guitar Now
I recently played Rock Band with a friend on his Xbox 360 and he was using a guitar from GH3 that worked flawlessly. I purchased Rock Band for my PS3 and started to gather friends to play, but I needed a 2nd guitar for bass so I purchased this one. After I got it and examined the toy-like quality I plugged it in and fired up Rock Band. I was able to navigate but not play, WHY? After a little online research I learned of the legal problems between Activision and Harmonix preventing patches to allow the use of any guitar controller, so no dice with my new guitar. Back to Amazon and I guess I'll have to wait until March when the Nyko Frontman Guitar comes out.Read Best Reviews of Playstation 3 ezJam S10 Wired Guitar Here
I just bought this from Microcenter on clearance for $7 and played three songs before this review. I am hoping for this to be a band aid replacement until the new GH game/controller comes out in September, and nothing more. The only guitar I've used before this was the GHWT controller, which is rock solid. Here are some notables....
Needs 4 AA batteries and a screw driver to install the batteries.
Very top heavy, but doesn't affect the gameplay.
Star Power works fine, but you need to tilt it a bit more to work. Playing on expect, this can be a good thing as I hate it when the Star Power goes off when you don't want it to. Also didn't notice Star Power kicking in with use of the whammy bar, but that might just be due to lack of play so far.
Strumming bar is tiny. The worst thing about this is that your hand gets in the way of the whammy bar because of this. This is the biggest design flaw I've noticed yet. Up and down strumming is really affected by this in expert mode.
Whammy bar is also pretty small, but it hasn't really affected the gameplay so far. I am also expecting it to break soon per other reviews, but I hope not.
Cord is a little short at 8 feet, but hasn't been an issue so far.
Button spacing is fine. Haven't tried the smaller ones yet, but don't think I'll need to either.
The guitar strap was almost too short. Not a big issue at though as I could use the GHWT one if need be.
Listen, I realized this model is a couple years old. And for a 2nd guitar or a beginner, it'll do the trick. But if you like to play on expert, this is probably not the guitar controller for you. For the price I paid, it was well worth it. But for they price they are asking here, get yourself a GHWT controller instead.
BTWafter nearly a year of use and A LOT of play, the GHWT controller had these issues prompting this purchase. Up strumming was the first thing to not work properly, only reading about 80% of the time. Then the whammy bar became loose at first, then lost most of it's springback. This wasn't a huge issue as I've been playing it like that for 2 months, but last night it caused the guitar to be out of tune. Imagine that, a Guitar Hero guitar could actually go out of tune....who would've thunk it? Not me. It's still playable, but very distracting to hear songs be 1/2 step or more out of tune for most of the song. I still have high hopes for this to do the trick until September, but I can't see any high scores in my near future mainly due to the whammy bar being in the way of the tiny strumming bar. Hope this helps!I didn't really play GH that often and the whammy broke after three weeks. Fortunately I was able to open the guitar and do a make-shift fix. (I don't recommend doing this unless you are handy) The spring that keeps the whammy in the up position is hooked to a very thin plastic piece. Not engineered very well. But after I fixed it there's been no other problems so far.
