I have played practically every incarnation of The Sims since its debut (and Maxis games before that), and EA has finally brought the full experience to console. It has been a long journey with plenty of trial and error, and it certainly helps that console hardware now comes close to the power of PC gaming. I played Sims 3 on PC, but due to hardware issues and my disdain for EA's DRM technology I haven't spent my usual mini-lifetime within my sim's universe; I am thrilled to now have the option to play on the PS3. The game even seems enhanced. The added trophies, karma points and powers, challenges, and more fit in nicely, and the controls are easy to pick up. Challenge points can even be used to unlock content that would cost actual money on PC (like the steampunk collections).
There are only a few things that don't seem to flow, the major point being build/buy mode. It is so easy to switch in and out of build and buy on PC just a click but now I must hit the select button and navigate over to build/buy mode. The town map is also accessed from the select button menu. These things take away from the larger feeling of The Sims 3 PC version, especially since that aspect was one of the few improvements over The Sims 2 (PC). The continuity could be improved with Build/Buy and the Town Map being on a menu that is quicker to access. The town also seems small after playing the previous games with expansions. (Though I imagine there will be plenty of add-on content to come.) I don't think the loading times are bad, but I have been playing New Vegas. Anyone who has played Sims with about six expansions installed will think the loading times are lightning-quick.
The slight annoyances do not take away from the full game experience. All the great aspects are still there; pretty much everything is customizable, the graphics are gorgeous, and the music and sound are fantastic. I missed being as engrossed in the lives of my sims as I was playing Sims 2 on PC, and I am once again delving that deeply into the world of The Sims.

The pc version has more items and other options however I find sitting behind a computer annoying so I had to pick this up on black Friday for 30$. I enjoy it because I can just sit back and relax with my controller and have fun. As for the game itself it has gotten extremely easy sense the debut of the original which I still have and love. Although I do enjoy playing the Sims 3 more because instead of being worried about comfort and room the mood bars they took out it is less stressful and a more enjoyable experience. I like how many more skills there are and if you are into platinum trophies, this one will please you because its about 60 hours of game play for platinum. Whats pleasing about it is not only the time it takes but you will enjoy it! The Sims 3 is VERY fun and their are no hard annoying trophies just time consuming one like, fulfill 1000 wish's or 250k happiness points, but you will get this over time. Their is this new option called karma and its REALLY FUN because you can just mood boost your character before you go to work and get that raise or promotion. Buy this for any Sims lover or for your teen, better yet for yourself.I bought for this game for my daughter because she is always bugging me about how our laptops won't run Sims 3.CONTROLS; At first the basic controls are very easy to learn, and you get tips on how to use them. But every day my daughter plays it, she finds a new control that she didn't know about, and sometimes it can get a little confusing and she did find herself looking on the internet for some clues.
GRAPHICS; The graphics are very good, although not the best I've seen in a game.
GAMEPLAY; Creating Sims is better than ever, and you can tweak every detail from the shape of the jaw, to freckles and beauty spots. You can edit some things like hair, because you can add highlights. I have noticed that there does not seem to be as many clothes as in Sims 2. You can also import Sims. You can give your Sim traits, and trust me, there are allot to choose from! Just as an example, my dughter made a Sim of me, and the traits were Loner, (!) Computer Whiz, Couch Potato, Grumpy and Loser. :(
The game is set in Moonlight Bay, where your Sims have lots of facilities to learn and play. If you go to the town map, you will see that there are lots of places to go, the stadium, the school, the theatre being just a couple. There is only one flaw of going to town which is that you can only see inside the Gym, the Library and the Park. This is not because of a glitch, it is the way the game is designed. All the other buildings are just large decorative objects, and if you're Sim goes to work, or just visits that building you won't be able to see what they are doing.
At home, you can buy lots of great items for your Sims' homes, or you can build your home from scratch! Although the camera can sometimes be a bit annoying if you try to zoom in, Build & Buy Mode is very good.
Your Sims' can develop skills for certain subjects. For example if one of your Sims' traits is 'green thumb' your Sim is more likely to choose the Science career and will excel at it because he/she has a natural talent. Some of the Skills are; Athletic, Fishing, Handiness, Writing, Logic, and Charisma.
There are lots of oppurtuniies in Sims 3, for example, if you have a very Charismatic Sim, you have to oppurtunity to become the Mayor! Or if your Sim is very Science-y you can go leaps and bounds in the Science industry.
Overall this is a great game, which you are sure to love if you have Sims 2!

This game is MAGNIFICANT!! With the amount of things that you can do in this game, this will keep any die-hard sims fan busy for hours and hours. One quick warning though, this game was certainly made to be played by the PC gamers that do not already have the game for the PC. A lot of the story-based missions found in previous console sims games are missing, in place with a free-roaming style of game play. While the changes might upset some, myself included, I still found myself having a blast playing this game. While it isn't like the other console games, this game can still hold it's ground, and is one of the most comprehensive sims games to date.Seriously, this has to be one of the most mundane, tedious games ever...but also one of the very best. The graphics were amazing, there were so many options for customizing EVERYTHING.I had occasional problems with glitches and freezing, but ALL games have problems with glitches and freezing. If you can't handle that, then, you should not be playing video games. Go buy a puzzle.
