first off, the thing really works, and it works pretty well for being so cheap. the entire body is a clear PSP ripoff right down to the top corners looking like fake shoulder buttons.
I'll skip the praise otherwise though as most have it covered and get to the point.
THE BUILD OF THIS IS EXTREMELY CHEAP AND NEEDS A VERY IMPORTANT INTERNAL REINFORCEMENT OTHERWISE IT WILL BREAK!
When i bought my first one it died within 3 days of use, i opened it up and took a good look around, noticing something VERY wrong right away!
the cartridge slot's connection sits right on top of 4 very tiny and very weak circuits, after repeated use the cart connector will come loose and snap these circuits right off the board once a cartridge is inserted hard.
i returned the broken unit and got a replacement, took it home and heres what i did to prevent this from happening again.
opening the unit and used a hot glue gun to glue the connection and the little guard/rail piece thats just half acedly stuck around it right down to the board and in place, then i added a layer around the cartridge connector itself to reinforce its place and hopefully prevent the easy break that happened the first time around.
this not only seems to have made it stronger in place, but it also fixed the death grip it had on my cartridges as well as made them insert a lot easier.
so far no downsides to be seen and i've had it over a week with constant use and in/out cartridge swapping for stress testing.

IMPORTANT EDIT: My Genmobile broke a day after I got it. Cheap thing wouldn't power on. I Got my refund but from now on I'm not going to waste money on it. I'd recommend the Gopher or the Retrogen. Looks like Retrogen wins! But I stll stand behind the things I said about the Genmobile in this review.OLD REVIEW: I was hearing a lot of debate over the internet about this device. I had a RetroGen that I bought almost a year prior and it's been working pretty good. The only drawbacks of it were the fact that some games didn't work and also the screen was kinda weird. Blacks were green, yellows were green-ish.
So how is the Genmobile?
Well it is a hell of a lot better than the Retrogen for various reasons. First of all the game system comes with twenty built-in Sega Genesis games. Some of them are good, but other than the fact that I utterly fail at Golden Axe, they're fun. Most of them I don't giv a crap about, like Shadow Dancer. And Columns 3. Overall they work great, no graphical errors or any color discolorations. The audio is somewhat messed up, but in the sense that the music is out of pitch, but you can turn the speaker up as loud as you want (and believe me you, it goes VERY loud). Games like Streets of Rage 2 and Sonic The Hedgehog 2 sound fine despite the pitch oddities, and as you know those games have awesome music.
One thing that bugs me is the screen to the Genmobile is actually SMALLER both in physical resolution and the size. Text games are difficult to read, and when I tried Phantasy Star this was a big problem. On that note, Phantasy Star IV boots up but you can't play a saved game. You have to play it from the beginning, and that is a huge drawback of this system AND the RetroGen.
Also, just like the RetroGen, this thing connects to the TV with the included AV cable. But this one's AV cable has a much smaller input jack so you can't use any of th ones you got laying around. What the heck were they thinking? Well at any rate, this one puts out a somewhat clearer picture than the Retrogen does.
Now, I'll talk about compatibility. For this system, I was having (and still do) a bit of trouble when I inserted the cartridge inside the system. When the system detects a game it skips the 20 games menu and boots up the game. But in some cases, the games are so hard to insert that when you put one in the game doesn't detect it and boots up the 20 games menu.
So is it better than the Retrogen? It's just a nicer version of it with built-in games. REAL games as opposed to the 13 crap games on the Retrogen. As long as it plays Sega Genesis games I guess that's all that matters. It's got a better D-pad, but the screen's resolution is dwarfed. Just like the Retro Mini-X, the sprites are all smushed a bit.
Another thing I noticed was that Mortal Kombat 3 on the Retrogen didn't let you use special moves or fatalities unless it was hooked up to a TV. The Genmobile had no such problems, but some games like I said just didn't detect the first time I put them in. The system, despite its flaws, is in my opinion, dominant over the Retrogen, but just barely. If you're going to get one, get it for the D-pad or the 20 games. Either way, you got Sega Genesis on the go.

I bought two of these things last year. And guess what? Both of them broke! The second one I bought was a replacement for the first one! True, it does have several built in games, but they break easily if you push an external cartridge in too hard, AND not all games work on it anyway! And also the sound emulation is way off. Music is played in the wrong key. Save your money! It's not worth it! This thing is a piece of junk!Read Best Reviews of Officially Licensed Sega Genesis Gen Mobile Portable System Here

Bought this specifically to play my Sega games with on the go. It doesn't work, doesn't even read the cartridges. Games on it are decent, and it works as far as those go. But again, bought it because it is supposed to be compatible with the old Sega cartridges, and won't work.
