I have bought four Mad Catz officially licensed Street Fighter 4 Fightpads. Of those, One needed to be opened and cleaned the first night or two of use due to inputs going haywire, another had to be cleaned twice in rapid succession(first time was soon after unpackaging,) the third flat out DIDN'T FUNCTION AT ALL straight out of the package, and the fourth was a replacement for the third, which I decided to sell without opening.

As for their sticks, I bought a Marvel vs Capcom Tournament Edition stick straight from Mad Catz's online shop, which not only would get "stuck" in random positions periodically even though the stick was centered physically, but would be recognized by the PS3 about half the times I plugged it in(again, this was a brand new item straight out of the box.) The Tatsunoko vs Capcom stick, however, which isn't even TE "quality" hasn't had an issue yet--wobbly buttons, but very functional.

After the MVC3 stick issue, I decided that I had had enough, and am very pleased with Hori's new stick. No input issues, higher-quality plastic casing, a lighter weight without being too light to stay in place, and slightly less sensitive but still responsive buttons make this the stick I will recommend to others from now on. I also encourage anyone unsure about the benefits of a square gate to look them up--it really pays to have an equal amount of area within the stick's range register for diagonals as it does for the four "cardinal" directions(especially for shoryuken motions and other ones that end in a diagonal,) and the difficulty of doing 360 motions and so on is easy to get over with just a bit of practice and a gentle touch for maximum precision in your execution--I'm sure there's a reason so many Japanese pros prefer them, and in turn a respected Japanese company like Hori exclusively uses square gates as well.

I'm far from being a conspiracy nut, but I'm amazed that Mad Catz is so widely preferred by most pro players I watch clips of, and wonder if they're not deliberately making mostly shoddy products but making a few good ones for the pros that constantly endorse their sticks in videos and by using them in tournaments. While it's only anecdotal on my part, it seems likely that rather than a coincidence, my bad luck with four out of five Mad Catz products is a result of bad design, bad Quality Assurance, or both. It would also explain why Hori suddenly yanked the licensing for both UMVC3 and Blazblue for their most recently-produced sticks.

This stick is easier to handle, more reliable, and even significantly cheaper that what Mad Catz offers. Give it a try--I'm sure you'll be glad you did!

I bought this stick because my Madcatz TE round 2 broke. I had that stick 9 months, so less than a year and the joystick stopped working. Sure I could fix it, but the parts to completely fix the whole thing would cost me around $75. Not being familiar with my own skill in fixing it, I figured I would buy a new stick. But this time I opted for this one. And let me tell you, my gaming experience in SSF4AE is better. The hand rest that this Hori stick has is great.

People complain about the start button and accidentally hitting it confound me. Are you all mashing so frantically in your fighting games? If you have precise and controlled button hitting you wouldn't hit the start button. I never once accidentally hit it.

I even modded this stick to insert button plugs in the 2 furthest buttons on the top and bottom row, so that gives me and extra inch of space between my right hand and the start button.

Speaking of modding, when I opened up the case the wires going to the buttons are WAY easier to disconnect than on my TE. I was literally pulling teeth when I was changing out buttons on my TE. But don't get me wrong, the wires to the buttons on the Hori are secure so there's no need to worry that because they come off easily with needles nose pliers that they are in any way unsecure.

This stick is light weight and wide. It has the perfect feel. Plus it has two easy grip handles on the side.

Nothing against Madcatz. I'm just going to keep that stick and fix it as a backup.

I'd give this stick a 10 out of 10 if I could. My buddy so wisely said this stick is like a mini VLX. If you don't want to drop the heavier penny on a VLX, buy this stick, you won't regret it.

the stick is amazing. it is very responsive, works alot better that the Madcatz TE sticks i have used, i see people complaining about the start buttons location but i never once have hit it. in fact you have to be button mashing to even come close to hitting it. on a scale of one to ten this stick gets a 10 flat out. i hope to also get the Street Fighter X Tekken stick soon as well. both would look good together. so if you're looking for a good stick get this or any other Hori hands down.

This Arcade stick is Fantastic and I use it whenever I can, there IS one issue though...

It has a Square-Gate, AKA If you try to move the stick in a Circle, you won't feel an octagon gate, only a square gate...

Other than that, great stick!

This turned out to be a really great buy. My first arcade stick and when i recieved it it was very wide(great for resting your hands imo), had a great weight to it, buttons were very responsive and the stick very stable. Had it for a few months now and even with all the abuse ive given it, still no problems. Ive read from other consumers that they had sometimes accidentilly hit the start button which makes sense given the spacing. But in all honesty i've never hit it accidentally during gameplay. Just practice a little to get the feel and you wont even notice it. Im sure those button mashers will tell you different though. Overall fast shipping, good price, very durable. Would not even hesitate to buy another if i needed it.

I can understand why a lot of people would not like this game simply because there is no way you can hunt on your own. There is only a sotry mode or a trphy chase mode. Obviously the story mode is self explanitory and the trphy chase mode is timed. However, this game is fun, the story mode is great. The reason for this is, is that it doesn't JUST set you up to shoot something, it adds challenge to it, and if you screw up, on many it gives you different ways to accomplish the hunt. Many of the hunts are challenging enough to see walkthroughs on. I've played the story mode there times and every time is different in ways. It's a game worth the try!

Main drawbacks were this kind of irritating guide who pops up now and again giving advice. Also some of the gadgets that the game wants you to employ are a bit much, gps, scent spray, etc. Overall liked this game and viewed against most games it is worth the $. >>> Edit added later. I found the fishing scenarios irritating beyond measure, seemed redundant and pointless. Reduced the stars rating from 4 to 3.

This game is a lot more realistic than some of the other hunting games we have, it's a lot of fun for amateur hunters.

My review is based off the price and what the game offered in comparison. First off I have been a big fan of Cabela's games since this generation of consoles. The power allows tons of cool visuals to be seen and I thought that this game had tons of fun options for every gamers appetite. You have your fps viewpoint and the thrill of hunting down elusive animals without having to kill something in real life. The only thing I detest about this game is the fishing portion. I mean what the heck was the point of making the easiest thing to do in real life impossible to do in a game? Other than that, I was very happy with my overall experience with the game.

Looks great, but the second day after applying, the yellow one fell off and cracks formed on the red and other heads. Considering a refund or exchanged, but see the same thing happening again. There just aren't skins for this set that can stand up to consistant playing. I have mine taped until I figure something out.

I love this sticker set but I think maybe it's been sitting around a while because the drum pads and the background wouldn't stay stuck down, quite a bit of peeling on the background and a little edge peeling on the pads. The cymbol stickers stuck just fine I got a can of 3M spray glue and hopefully that'll work to glue'em down Thanks

Looks really nice once installed. Just don't put it on an older system cause it will not stick very well.

I cleaned all thoroughly but the cymbals would not stick.

The ones that are left make the drums look so cool.

It has been 8 years since Sly 3's release on the PS2. There was a cliffhanger at the very end of the game, in the last cutscene; "... but I'm building a time machine to find out!" And then... Sucker Punch closed the doors of the Sly Cooper series, convincing everyone that there wouldn't be another game from the infamous thieving raccoon. But then... the doors were opened up again.

Sanzaru games, for those who don't know, remastered the original trilogy for the PS3, titled "The Sly Collection". (I recommend that one to all who have only played Thieves in Time.) They did a phenomenal job on remastering the trilogy in HD. When it was announced that Sly game was going to be entirely developed by Sanzaru, Sly fans, including myself, were a bit skeptical. The last PS2 icon that was developed by somebody else was bastardized. (Jak and Daxter; The Lost Frontier. EPIC FAIL.) But Sanzaru was releasing bits of gameplay footage and it eased everyone's minds that the Sly series may be in the right hands after all. I mean, it is better than no game at all, right? The wait is over, the game has been released, and now... the review!

GRAPHICS/ENVIRONMENT: Holy crap! These graphics are insane! Running at 60FPS, the game is crisp, colorful, and the environments are more detailed than ever before. Sly and the gang have all gotten re-designed from the ground up. Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the "new" Sly Cooper design, but it has kind of grown on me. I really don't know what they could have done any differently. Regardless, it does look like the old Sly that we know and love, so you can't ask for much more than that. There are times, where the frame rate does drop, such as a boss battle where lots of visual things are going on. It isn't enough to affect the gameplay, but it is noticeable. Overall, it's an incredible makeover and a definite welcome one. Sanzaru has also dwelled into the story mode and pulled some cool easter eggs out of their hats. For instance, on the first mission in Japan, you can see Clockwerk (Villain from Sly 1) at one point sitting on the wall. He's actually moving around and doing stuff. It's really cool to see, especially if you understand his significance to the story. The music is done by the original composer from the original trilogy and he does wonders for this game. The music is extremely fitting and as Sly-like as ever. Kudos to the composer! The original voice actors are back, too! Well, at least for the Sly Cooper Gang. Carmelita, of course, has a different voice actor than before. She's had a different voice actor for all 4 games and I never understood why. Regardless, Sly, Bentley, and Murray all sound like they always have from Sly 2 onward and it really credits Sanzaru for tracking these guys down and going that extra mile for the fans. It really puts you back into the saddle of a Sly Cooper game well.

GAMEPLAY: The gameplay is solid, fluid, and very original and faithful to the series. The controls are all original, with a few exceptions here and there, such as Murray's "Thunder Flop" now being X+Triangle. Nothing major whatsoever, just a simple observation. There are now clue bottles again! I am at 29/30 on the first chapter. I'm trying to find the last one using no game volume and my Turtle Beach Ear Force Foxtrots, but I think Sanzaru made it a little more challenging this time around by lowering the clue bottle volume because you can't hear the things until your about 6 feet away from them. Well played, Sanzaru. Other than Clue Bottles, you can also collect Sly Masks, which, when collecting enough, allows you to unlock stuff, such as Murray's "Seal Team Murray" outfit. Since I pre-ordered the game, I got the Seal Team Murray outfit with the two exclusive para-glider skins. You can also open the vaults once you get the clue bottles, just like you could in Sly 1 and 2. I haven't opened a vault yet, so I can't say what's inside. However, if it's anything like Sly 2, then you'll get some badass new moves that you can't buy on Thiefnet. Bentley's hacking minigames have drastically changed. The very first one on the prologue mission is what everyone is used to. However, Sanzaru went in totally different directions with this one. There is one that reminds me of the hacking tool used in the Ratchet and Clank series, where you have to guide a spark of electricity through a path and obstacles to it's destination. It's a cool addition and Sanzaru was definitely thinking outside of the box on that one. Murray's the same. Literally nothing has changed. However, now, any playable character can open the vault, at least on the first mission. The vault is in a totally open area and even if I'm playing as Bentley or Murray, I can still see their holographic logos by the vault handle. That tells me they can open the vault, too.

VERDICT: The game is solid and everything the fans want it to be. There's really nothing more to tell you. If you want a solid game for the PS3 that could possible be a staple in your collection, such as mine, then I would take a long hard look at this Sly Cooper title. However, if you want the full story, add "The Sly Collection" to YOUR collection. It is a really good story and there are some easter eggs that you may not understand unless you play through the first 3 games as well. At a $39.99 price point, you can't go wrong.

Whereas games from the "Ratchet and Clank" universe make me feel as though I'm in the middle of a Pixar movie, "Thieves in Time" achieves an equally impressive feat: It makes me feel like I'm taking part in one of the hand-drawn afternoon cartoons of the 80s and 90s (which I would regularly watch after school, while nibbling on snacks). I love everything about the presentation in this game: the characters are adorable, the story is hilarious and absurd, and the cel-shaded approach has never looked finer. The time traveling plot and assortment of anthropomorhpic animals takes me back to the days of shows like "DuckTales".

There is, however, a complaint that I have with this game: I wish I had control of Sly Cooper for greater lengths of time (ALL the time would be even better). While Murray and Bentley are cool characters, and they make for an awesome family/team, I found that I began sighing every time one of their segments began loading. When Sly is in control, this platformer can attain a certain level of "zen" as you engage in your chains of stealthy featsleap, perch, climb, balance, strike, repeat (and the controls are identical to the PS2 games, as far as I rememberthey've aged wonderfully). However, when the other characters are in control, this becomes something of a clumsy, forced platformer that left me longing for Sly's stealthy, agile ways. That's just my humble opinionothers may enjoy the segments of Sly's friends and the attempts to instill gameplay diversity, but I was always anxious to return to the thieving raccoon. And in the defense of the developer, controlling Sly's friends has always been a part of the experience, even with the original "Thievius Raccoonus".

The inclusion of Vita functionality (Cross Buy) with this title makes it pretty enticing for any Sony gamer (especially at $40). I'm a fan of the PS2 Sly Coopers ("Thievius Racoonus" still being my favorite), and I have not been disappointed with "Thieves in Time" (and there are still TONS of collectibles in these worlds calling out to me), so I can wholeheartedly recommend it to those who are in the same boat. I'm not sure how gamers who are new to the series will receive it, but I would definitely suggest considering it, particularly if you enjoy cartoons and non-violent games, or if you're looking for something suitable for younger gamers.

I just beat Sly 4 and thought it was fantastic, for Sanzaru's first Sly and taking up the torch after Sucker Punch they really made Sly better than ever before. Here are a few things.

Gameplay and controls

Level design is superb, some of the very best platforming segments I have seen in years

Sly plays just as comfortably and fluid as he did in Sly 2/Sly 3, there is a slightly weighted feel added to him due to the deeper physics and it goes nicely with the platforming and climbing mechanics.

Bentley, Murray, and Carmelita feel very developed this time around, from their missions to their gameplay styles

Sly's ancestor's are great additions to the game, not all of them play like Sly with new abilities but each ancestor that does has an ability that adds a new dimension to Sly's gameplay.

Sly's new costumes having their own gameplay styles is one of the best things to happen in this game, not only do they change up Sly's play but they are surprisingly a blast to use.

New upgradable moves with the returning upgrades make taking out enemies much more enjoyable and adds a lot of depth to the combat

Bentley's hacking mini-games are a lot more fleshed out and impressive, but there is one controlled via motion controls (usually about 30 seconds long though) that was annoying.

Missions offer lots of variety making the game never feel tedious like past Sly games, it's pacing is beautifully done

Bosses being done in layered battles like the first Sly Cooper makes them some of the best in the series

Graphics

The game looks sharp and crisp running in 60fps

Nice lighting and graphical effects with cel-shaded visuals really bring the game and character models to life

Levels are vibrant and detailed, the open world levels especially look great

Story

I was very impressed with the story, quite a few twists and nice character development with the plot itself unfolding in a way that keeps you interested from start to finish.

Le Paradox is a great villain along with his back-story

The episodes each standout in their own ways due to the interesting bosses and Sly's ancestors were all nicely done

Production values in this game are the highest level in the series, not only are there the classic animated scenes the games are known for but a lot of action-packed in-game scenes that add a lot to the game

Replay Value

The game itself is quite lengthy, but there are a lot of collectibles like Clue Bottles and treasures that make the open worlds worth exploring

There are a lot of unlockables, including a secret ending

Overall, I highly recommend getting the game and it's a steal being only $40 for all it packs. It's also a great entry point into the Sly series, if you are a new player you'll be able to experience the game with hardly any problems with how well it explains previous events and introduces all the character all over again. Sly Cooper: Thieves in time was seriously worth the wait and the best yet in the franchise

It's been eight years since the last Sly title and once I started playing 'Sly Cooper Thieves in Time' it felt just like the older games from years past, but better. Sly, Carmelita, and the rest of the gang never looked better. This is an amazing game to own. The graphics, gameplay, and story are great and filled with excitment that one would expect from Sly and gang. It's a game that can be enjoyed by all ages and still leave an impression. I would recconmed this game to anyone.

I love the way that this product enhances my otherswise ho-hum looking RB Drums! At first I was a little intimidated about putting them on straight. I didn't want them to look crooked. But once I got started, I found that I could just peel off a small portion of the adhesive backing, get it lined up where I wanted, then snug down the uncovered portion of the adhesive, and then peel off the rest of the backing, and press it into place! Worked like a charm!

This product does not interfer with my playing ability at all, and while I won't say that it improved it any either, I will say that it kicked up my level of fun while I play with a great customized look! Your friends will be impressed too!

I've been playing De Blob 2 for a couple weeks now, after buying it on release day. The first De Blob was one of my favorite games for the Wii. I bought this de Blob 2 for the PS3 because I wanted to play the game in HD.

I was slightly worried about the transition from using a Wii controller to using the PS3 controller. I was pleasantly surprised though. When playing on the Wii, my arms would start to hurt from flicking the remote. The PS3 version (when played with the regular controller, not the "Move") only requires minimal use of the controller's motion sensor. The controls are smooth and it was an easy transition from Wii to PS3.

As in the first de Blob, evil creatures have taken over the world and removed its color. Your job as De Blob is to add color to the world by painting yourself and then touching objects. Various enemies try to spray you with black gunk as you make your way through the levels.

Each level has a main goal such as liberating university professors and students from a black and white world. After completing the main objective, there are ancillary quests such as repainting billboards or bringing trees back to life. There are also various items to collect such as light bulbs that allow you to upgrade De Blob, purple swirls that make De Blob paint in patterns instead of just plain color, and pictures for the picture gallery.

This game is rather hypnotic and relaxing. I've only been frustrated once so far when I kept running out of time on one particular level. I've played about 14 hours now and think I have about halfway to go. The ancillary missions comprise about 25% of the play time, so if these missions don't interest you, the game will likely be quite short.

I love this game and hope the developers come out with a third iteration.

When seeing this game on the shelf i passed because i thought it was a stupid kids game. I borrowed it from a friend and played the first island and returned it to him. Why the 5 star review then you ask, well ill tell you its because after i returned it to him i went the store and bought it. I am in love with this game i love the concept the music and the graphics. This game is fantastic in almost every way you should really buy it. Its a platformer with a neat take on the genre. When i said fantastic in almost every way the almost is the camera it gets wonky at times but just push L2 and its fixed.

One of the first games I purchased when we bought our Wii was deBlob. It was a ver fun game with incredible jazz music but the exclusive use of the Wii remote was at times inconvenient and eventually became tedious especially in the later levels. It was family friendly but a challenging game for adults as well. De Blob 2 has taken all the good stuff in the first installment and made it better. More creative, challenging and entertaining.

One major improvement with the deBlob 2 is that the players have the option of using their PS3 controller or the Playstation Move. That in itself was a major upgrade, graphics aside. The 3 dimensional graphics in deBlob 2 are fun and even the use of a 2D platform for the "inside jobs" just seemed to enhance the Graydian world's 3 dimensional effects.

Basically the game goes like this:

The Inkt Commander has taken over and drained the world of color, music and art. Your job as deBlob is to restore freedom of those things and capture the leader, Comrade Black. Using the primary colors of red, blue and yellow there is a spectrum of possibilities that include purple, orange and brown. As you progress through the game you gain experience points used to improve your character. You always have the option to remix and change the way your character's strengths which is a nice flexibility.

There are two settings for difficulty:

Easy, which is not timed

Normal, which starts you off with 15 minutes of time to complete several different challenges after completed you can finish up more challenges and fully paint the world, find the hidden goodies and rescue the Graydians from their buildings by painting them. Completing the challenges within the 15 minute time period is possible but not easy by my standards (at the end in particular), but I have been having a blast. I am almost finished but wrote this review before completion because of Amazon's request for a review....

I have been having a blast with deBlob 2, my Wife loves the music and my Granddaughter while not playing deBlob 2 on her DS enjoys watching me play. In the PS3 version there is a second character named Pinky who can be played with another player but we haven't done this as yet. I imagine it will just add another dimension of fun to this creative and entertaining video game. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys something very different from the other games out there. It can be particularly satisfying to use your colors to defeat the totalitarian government that has drained the world of color and fun, replacing it with black and white silence.

Long live deBlob!De Blob 2

Read Best Reviews of Deblob 2 Here

De Blob 2 is a total blast. It's relaxing, funny, entertaining, colorful, and tons of other good adjectives. I usually play heavier games, and this was bought to really chill out on. The entire experience of the game was very well realized. I never played the first one, but always heard good things. Once I saw a video of the sequel, and the gorgeous graphics on ps3, I just couldn't help myself. Let me break it down like a real reviewer!

Gameplay:

Controls are usually spot on. There are a few difficult sections where the camera spazzes out. The only frustrating parts are when you're scaling a few skyscrapers and then accidentally slip off. Also, when your wife is pushing your hands to make you go in the ink and kill yourself, that isn't too cool either. As for other parts of the game, the missions do get a little old. They aren't as tedious as other games, like gta and infamous, because they are much shorter than the aforementioned games' missions.

Story:

Hilarious, well told, entertaining. There is no actual dialogue in the cut scenes, and it works so well. All the characters and story is wonderful.

Graphics:

Looooooove the graphics. Edges are sharp, colors are vibrant. The overall graphic design of the game is well executed and very enjoyable.

Sound:

Music is great. Upbeat and effortlessly conceived. It feels a lot like the Katamari soundtracks, but not as crazy. Nice, smooth, and jazzy. When you color things, there are little flourishes that are mirrored in the music. The sound design definitely stands out in the game. I've been playing the game with headphones recently, which I have to recommend.

Replay Value:

That might be a little tougher. Unlike Katamari, the levels can only be played one way, really. There are a lot of different little completion tasks on each level, but I'm planning on selling this when I'm done.

Overall:

Great game! If you're looking for something refreshing, give it a shot!!!

Want Deblob 2 Discount?

Fans of the rather-under-the-radar Wii title, de Blob, were probably as surprised as I was to see that de Blob 2 was coming out.

The first de Blob was great, featuring a rotund little guy taking after his namesake, abosorbing paint in order to literally paint the town, liberating Graydians from the evil Inkt corporation run by Commander Black. It featured funky little characters who gave you challenges and missions to complete in order to liberate one area utilizing a certain paint set (or by mixing paints to get various colors). It also featured a rather unique jazzy and yet almost 60s-lounge-like soundtrack which invigorated and energized the player with its curiously laid-back feel. The humor was cute and not over the top, and all voices were a series of unintelligible words translated in English captions, comic-book style. If you haven't grabbed the Wii title already, do yourself a favor and pick it up for the very low price that it's offered at nowadays.

de Blob 2 took that Wii-exclusive concept and expanded to all 3 consoles. As fond as I was of the Wii title, I had to get the PS3 title to see if HD would, indeed, make a difference. And WOW, does it ever. de Blob 2 looks BEAUTIFUL in HD on a 58" screen! The somewhat deceivingly simple world is actually bursting with details that are subtle, yet noticeable to a de Blob verteran like me.

Graphics aside, though, how does it play? Awesomely! Several new things to note:

1. Should you choose to play with 2 people during the Story, you can! Now you can play a character named Pinky along with de Blob to fight Commander Black who is wreaking havoc yet again after having been marooned on Paradise Island.

2. 2D levels are introduced into the game. While many might think that this is a step backward (I sure did when I first heard about it on IGN!), it's actually quite cleverly done, introducing a new set of gadgets and puzzles to get you blasting through obstacles, elevators, switches, locks, and traps. If anything, I think that the 2D levels have possibly upstaged the 3D environment at times.

3. de Blob now earns "Inspiration Points" which helps him to upgrade his health, number of lives, Pinky, armor, etc. Inspiration points are earned by collecting little idea-icons throughout a level that can also be earned by participating in bonus activities after completing primary objectives within an area.

4. I have played the game with the analog controller or, if you're a Wii veteran like me, the Move controller is also supported. It's quite responsive and functions well.

One minor con to note is that the camera is a little finicky at times but once you've played the game for about an hour, you will learn how to navigate its own particular set of idiosyncracies. It is merely indicative of the varying level of complexity shown in each and every level; every contingency REALLY can't be provided for and you will learn techniques quickly to go from A to B. The levels are NOT set up to be impossible. Every objective does have a logical way of being tackled.

de Blob 2's soundtrack makes another de Blobesque return, and, like its predecessor, starts off with perhaps a simple bass line that will gradually build up in layers of complexity via rhythyms, voices, guitars, saxophones, etc., as you paint more areas of a level. It's a welcome return and it sounds even better than before.

And, if you're obsessive-compulsive like me, you'll find a wealth of objectives and awards to obtain in each and every level. Every tree, rock face, building, Graydian, vehicle, and INKT logo is ready for you to plunder in various colors, schemes, and time frames. The first level alone took me well over an hour to complete in its entirety (even though you could conceivably finish it in about 20 minutes). Every level after that increases in complexity and difficulty. It's rewarding to those who are willing to challenge themselves.

Kudos to THQ for a phenomenal game. I'm hoping that it does well enough to earn justification for a 3rd.

As I am a huge fan of BFBC1, COD4MW and CODMW2, I will not make direct comparisons. They are all great in their own way. I will say that this game is a bigger improvement from BC1, than MW2 is from MW1...if that means anything to you.

The graphics are a less "cartoon-ish", for lack of a better word.

The controls are better IMO, but you change them back to BC1 if you'd like.

There are more upgrades/attachments available, along with a unique way to mix and match them to your liking.

Something I like a lot is the effect gravity has on snipers firing over long distances. It's the first game (that I know of) where the mil dots in the scope are needed to snipe. You will also have to lead your target, just like in BC1.

Huge maps, like BC1

Destructable buildings, tree, etc., like BC1.

Firing rifles in full auto is more realistic. In BC1 there wasn't much climb or wander when firing in full auto.

I would recommend it to any one looking for the closest simulation of warfare in a video game. It incorporates squad teamwork, vehicles, armor, airstrikes and much more. This creates an environment where the run-and-gun Rambo types, just get owned...I love it!

Quick backround on me I'm an avid console FPS player. I achieved top 1% once and top 6% for 3 solid months on Killzone. I've gotten my kill rank as high as 91000 on MW2 (good enough for top 2%). I also played a fair amount of Resistance. I LOVE COD:MW2. I love the graphics, the speed, the twitch reflexes required to be good. I also do not play the single player games, so my review is aimed specifically at the online portion. I will say the 2 hours spent on the single player were very fun and the graphics phenominal (noticeably better than multiplayer). I also play with a clan that has carried over several games, that also weighs into my opinion. Finally, I played both the BETA and the DEMO, and about 48 hours online in, so I have a fair amount of experience with BFBC 2 .

Based on DICE & EA's own admission, they are aiming to be the best, better than COD specfically. Do they succeed? Yes and no. Here is my comparison/opinion:

Play is class based Recon, Medic, Assault and Engineer. As you play as each character, their specific abilities are unlocked and enhanced. The leveling is slow. Unlike MW2 where getting hot could mean 2000xp and a quick couple of levels. Not so in Battlefield. You will need to play and play well as one class for an extended period to really get into the meat of the characters. You can customize your player, but not in the same fashion MW2. Edge: Draw

Modes include Rush, Capture the Flag, Squad Deathmatch and Gold Rush. The HUGE advantage BFBC 2 has over MW2 is that playing like a one man army is useless and you will probably lose. You CAN do it, but camping and playing as a lone wolf simply do not work in BFBC. Again, a stark contrast to MW2, the maps are enormous. And that is putting it lightly. Squading up is imperative if you want to move quickly across the map (and spawn with a squadmate). Edge: BFBC

Mechanics The players move in a similiar fashion to COD:MW, i.e., like the player is on skates. This is in contrast to Killzone that moves more like Saving Private Ryan. The guns feel good, but do not have a weighty feel to them. The player can run for days and jump abnormally high. The bullets have drop at long range, wich is awesome. As opposed to a wobbly reticle, you have to aim based on distance to the target. You don't get much of a notice when you are getting hit or hit someone, and getting killed can be a bit jarring and abrubt. Players can regain health, but slowly, so as a sniper, you can get those one shot kills, especially if you snipe behind your tank. Speaking of vehicles. They are tide changer and vital part of winning the game you are playing. We're talking choppers, tanks, humvees and quadrunners. As far as the actual shooting goes, MW2 still just feels better, but that is going to be a strict opinion, as both work just fine. Edge: Draw

Matchmaking It's easy to jump into a squad and more importantly, hook up with friends. You can customize the map you play and all of the modes. The game also plays on dedicated servers supported by EA. Again, big edge: BFBC.

Graphics / Sound This is going to be very much debated. I like how COD and KZ looks. BUT Battlefield has vehicles, 24 players, 10 maps that dwarf COD and KZ's maps and the big enchilada fully destructable environments. Like the tanks your in, they change the game. If a sniper thinks he's going to camp, think again. The building he's in or tree he's behind will eventually fall. Near the end of some matches, the level of destruction is incredible. If you are a pure graphics fiend, youll probably think it's ugly, if you love the size, scope and destructability, you'll prefer BFBC. As far as sound COD is like a Bruckheimer movie, BFBC is like Saving Private Ryan. More pops and thumps. Every gun in COD sounds like a cannon (which I love with my Turtlebeach P21 Headphones). Edge: Draw

Overall I personally prefer the gameplay of COD:MW2 by a wide margin over BFBC 2. However, if you've spent any time with MW2, you know it's full of lone wolves, campers, cheaters and glitchers. The matchmaking is inferior, clan support is nill and playing with friends online is very difficult because of constant drops. Playing as a team is paramount to having a good time on BFBC, and there in lies the rub. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I'm afraid the game will not have that pick up and play, jump right in replayability that COD:MW2 has. Ginormous maps played with strangers not playing together could end up being just as bad (or worse) than the faults of MW2. At the end of the day, I like the overall idea of BFBC2 BETTER than MW2, but narrowly. Time will tell where the support from players lies and the longevity of the game.

What sets this game far apart from others are the sounds and the sound quality. The selection of weapons and vehicles is unheard of in this game. Unlockable weapons and gadgets to help you out in the long run when you get tired of the same ole stuff. I played one game just to test everything and when a rocket is blazing past you you can hear it take its cycle from shooting towards you to hitting you or going past you if your lucky. My fav one is when they blaze past you and blow a chunk out of a building causing massive shrapnel and debris to fly everywhere. You also get the wonderful sounds of bullets hitting metal and wood as they are fired a suspecting enemies gun. The maps are unreal and so fun to play. This is where Call of Duty falls short, VEHICLES!!!!! How can Activision go so low as to take out Vehicles in a War game? I must mention also the fact that unlike Call of Duty you have a dedicated server for all your online needs. The single player campaign really blew me away. The first mission was all i have played and im hooked. The distant WWII sirens going off and the humor and action are what sets the single player game apart. You dont need a motion sensor on your gun or a care package delivered to have fun. From snowy mountain areas to industrial plants you have it all in one game. Congrats EA and DICE. Job well done

First off, if you didn't like the first Battlefield : Bad Company, it's worth your time to check this one out. They've done their homework. It's immensely more enjoyable. Now I'll just make a very generic attempt at comparing BC2 to MW2.

Map detail/Variety: BC2 BC2's maps are so varied, and unique. All the game types have different maps. Fantastic! Most things are destructible, you can even bring down entire buildings now.

Visuals: TIE (BC2's visuals have a grainier look and it runs at 30fps vs MW2's 60fps, but it's still an incredibly rendered game and seems warranted given the amount of stuff going in the BC2 world. It also looks like what's being displayed is not quite 720p (I'm guessing though).

Physics/Mechanics : Toss up. I think they've improved the way BC2 handles. I like that you can run indefinitely, but the lack of a true prone position is missed. I understand why both choices were made. The realism of the hit detection is nice. Bullets have travel time and you have to account for arch in bullet travel on really long sniping. (Cool). Both games have a solid "feel". BC2 is a bit more subdued, where as MW2 is fast twitch, head-on-swivel type action.

Gameplay: BC2 (Just seems a lot more fresh after 2 solid years of Modern Warfare play)

Weapons: TIE (I feel a lot more compelled to unlock stuff in BC2 then to obtain 250 headshots for some rainbow camo on my weapon in MW2. A weapon unlock should be satisfying in the end, not tedious.

Multiplayer Experience: TIE (Both games offer a variety of game types that is sure to please everyone)

I really like what they've done with BC2.

BBC2 is the best shooter on the PS3. Period. I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes game of the year. It's really that good. Pros and cons below:

Pros:

Destructable buildings and terrain. I love being able to blast a building to bits and kill everyone inside.

The game is very balanced. No unit seems too powerful.

The vehciles are all great. Tanks are powerful, but so are the tank mines, RPGs, and C4 charge used to counter the tanks.

Excellent controls. Good weapons available. Melee seems to have good range.

Squad play is really good. There are many advantages to be a good team player.

Doesn't suffer from the exessing camp-n-kill, run-n-knife, or glitch-cheater problems assocaited with modern warfare 2

Cons:

Squad chat only. You can only talk to 3 other guys. Thus, there's no promity chat, vehicle chat, etc. It's very annoying not to be able to talk to ppl right next to you or in the same tank as you.

No compass. No way to say things like "east of the church", etc.

The game should enforce a tutorial before allowing ppl to play only. It's annoying to see teammates stand right next to the objective and not do anything.

Recon units make possible to have a bunch of $@%&!#! camping teammates!!!

Would be nice to be able to save gadget configs.

Bottom Line:

This is the best shooter I've ever played on a console. I haven't been this excited about a game since counter strike on the pc. I didn't even play the single player mode yet. The multiple player mode simply rocks. You might miss days from work or not see your spouse for days if you buy this game. It's supper addictive. Just make sure you play with a good squad. I've already beaten the game 6 times and I have to say, this game is fun; If you're a fan of mecha animes.

This game was very pretty, but very empty in terms of style and polish. Here's my review of it.

Pros:

+ This game is only fun if you're a mecha fan and know about the characters featured in this game.

+ You don't have to be fluent in Japanese to enjoy the gameplay and cutscenes.

+ Most of the mechs control very differently from each other. As you level up, you gain more attacks.

+ You can import songs! The basic themes for the characters and stages are basic and the voice acting is top-notch.

+ Starting the game is always different depending on which series you start with and they do have different ending scenes.

+ Giant boss battles!

+ Shift Chase mode is a welcomed addition to the game. It makes some of the scenes more engaging than just watching it. Some quick time events do pop up in this game too.

+ The tension meter is much like a fighting game special bar. It limits the amount of special attacks mechs can do (So no more constant missile spamming for Macross mechs).

Cons:

The controls are very awkward and will be the most challenging hurdle for gamers to overcome. Make sure you change the controls as soon as possible because the standard set-up is terrible.

This game has several glitches that can impede on game play. On my second run, the game froze on the mission with the unskipable cut scenes. There are Graphical glitches too, like disappearing flowers on the Aquarion stage cutscenes.

This game is very hard to start, but very easy to finish. Starting the game with under power mechs and pilots does make the game harder than is should be. I found myself completing mission at like 10% HP too many times when I was starting out (I chose the Mcross F route).

No style at all. What I mean is that in previous ACE games, you can see that they put a lot of effort into make each mechs launch sequence as well as render the pilots in cell-shaded full 3d for cutscenes. There are no launch scenes like that in ACE:R.

No mech shops or parts to acquire to upgrade mech abilities.

You will have to cycle through attack panels.

Mission difficulty is all over the place with this game. The later missions are easier than the starting ones.

Strange mech changes: This mainly applies to the Macross VFs. In prior games, you're able to hover in battroid mode. In this game, you fall like a rock. Other mechs can hover though, like King Gainer and the Gundams.

No multiplayer mode. I'm leaning towards a co-op option than a death match mode. It was something I really liked in ACE3 and I was hoping that this game would expand on that, like have 3 player co-op for certain campaign missions.

No DLC expansion such as more missions or other mechs from prior games.

Over all:

This was definitely not the next gen ACE game I've been waiting to play. This was more of a rushed attempt than a rebirth. Starting out the game gave me bad impression, that's why I held off on review it right after my first play through. Now that I've had more experience with it, I can give it a fair review. Anyway, I haven't mentioned the story because I can't read Japanese (I have read several summaries about the story). This game just lacks the style and polish that the past ACE games had. The controls are what really kills this game. My ratings for this game are that high (3 stars) because I'm a mecha fan. Any other gamer would probably hate this game.

If you're an ACE fan, be very careful about getting this game. You might be disappointed with what you buy. I'm not totally burned, since I got this game for $20, but I wouldn't get this game for any more than $20. There are simply too many bugs and control issues that hinders this game's fun factor. Only get this game if you're a hardcore mecha fan!

Well, it all started like this, I am one of those Gundam fans that are not satisfied by the whole Dinasty Warriors Gundam game saga, so I started taking a look at this game, it took me almost two years to actually buy it due to the little issue known as not knowing japanese (except the one you learn by watching subtitled anime) which made me indecisive about it, but I still decided to get it, after much thought.

Thing is, I had read a few things about this game, and they all claim, and I now agree with them, that the more of the featured series you know, the funnier it gets, so my first reccomendation would be having watched about half of the series included.

Well, now that that's said, let's get this review properly started, I'll divide it in 5 parts, each focusing on a part of the game, hopefully i'll cover everything, this is my firs review, after all:

1Story:

The story was, from my point of view at least, very well done and very fun to follow, taking the characters from their respective series through black holes to the world of Eria, their encounter with Autumm-4 (native of the planet) and the Seasons (Bad Guys from the planet) and their leader Winter-1. The interactions between all of the different characters have a nice feeling to it, a pity about those i do not get due to there being no voice over (though I am quite sure there is one about a pull up (or something like that) competition between Suzaku Kururugi and Sosuke Sagara, and Alto Saotome gets caught up in the middle of it), because the actual cutscenes are pretty easy to undestand.

Many stages reenact things that happened during the series included in the game, usually with almost no change in dialogue (those who have watched Code Geass R2 will notice that Zero's conversation with the High Eunuchs and Luciano Bradley's speech about life are inaltered from how they were in the anime, other examples are the Crossbone Gundam fight with the Deathgales and Macross Frontier's fight with the Vajra Queen, I could go on but you get the picture), so basically it's a crossover story that will please many fans (on another note for Code Geass fans, Zero tends to laugh, a lot, while you play him).

-----------------------

2-Graphics:

The graphics are pretty good, I must admit most of the videos posted around about the game make it look slightly inferior in these section, but the scenery is really well done, and I assure you your favorite robot has been well designed, the only problem are 2-D cutscenes, the animation doesn't really fit. Apart from that, the only other thing is that there are a few failures with the graphics section, as of now I have found two of them, there may be more, one occurs in mission 18, if you use Lancelot Albion (haven't checked if Guren Seiten has the same problem) as your mech, during a scene, the Energy Wings become totally invisible, except the part they come out from, funny thing is, Lancelot Albion is flying in that scene. The other failure I found was in mission 19, in which the Aquarion fans (and everyone else, but they'll be the most affected) will see how the flowers on the Tree of Life sprout and vanish without reason. Still, despite these errors, it's really well designed.

------------------------

3-Controls & Specifics:

Here is the tricky part, since controls are a bit difficult get used to and the gameplay doesn't make them easier since your camera is fixed on an enemy all the time (unless there are no more, but if that's the case, either the mission is about to end or more will appear in 10 seconds). You'll have to be careful about not ending up out of the map by accident either, if you stay there too much, you'll start losing health at an incredible rate. The Tension System that allows for Special Attacks can be a bit difficult, but once you get how to properly use the robot you are using you'll charge it in no time.

------------------------

4-Gameplay:

This one is fairly simple, you arrive with your selected mech and two partners to the map of the mission and accomplish the objectives, wich may vary from protecting an spaceship, destroying target enemy unit/s, stay alive until the countdown reaches zero, reach target point, etc. the only problem is size, exactly that, yeah. The thing is, the robots available are not all identical in size, for example, Code Geass mechs (Knightmare Frames) are about 5m tall while Gundams are around 20m tall, and the Aquarion is three times as tall as a Gundam, so, while using a Gundam to pursue a Knightmare Frame, you'll end up looking for a pixel in your screen. Although I'll admit it is fun to crush them under your feet with Crossbone X1 and Hyaku Shiki's kicks. Also there's the fact that with each playthrough you unlock a new robot to use, which basically gives you an excuse to replay apart from the whole "I just played Code Geass story, now I wanna see what happened to the Macross guys to end up here".

------------------------

5-Music:

Now, this is the one part of the game I have really enjoyed, You do realize that when you join up all these series, the amount of epic music you can add is limitless, problem is, there's generally no money to afford all of it. So, what did From Software do. Well, they made their own sound track, which is pretty good, and added instrumental versions of the most famous songs of each anime. I bet you're thinking "that's good and all but you said you really enjoyed this and I still don't see any special reason for it", okay here's that reason, they also added the option of customizing the sountrack for each mission, with the exception of a few obligatory songs which were necessary for the plot, remember this game includes Macross Frontier afterall, that is not impressive enough though. What is impressive is that you can use songs stored in your ps3 as part of that soundtrack, basically customizing it to your tastes so that it fits better with you, they save money and you still get the big prize.

Well, that's about it for my review, I'm hesitant to give this game a mark since it really depends on who plays it and what you like, but if I was forced to do so I would give it a 9/10 for all the good moments it's given me, and will give considering I still have more than 8 playthroughs left.

I hope you enjoyed the review.

Hawkeyeriku.
