The WWE Brawl Stick is essentially the same as the Street Fighter IV Fight Stick (Standard Edition) that Mad Catz released a while ago. However, the buttons and joystick feel slightly improved; the joystick feels smoother and more responsive while the buttons are less stiff. I've never tried the Mad Catz TvC Wii stick, but I've heard it's very similar in feel. For arcade stick beginners, this stick is a solid option without having to drop over $100. If you are serious about fighting games and want to step up your game, I recommend switching to arcade stick; games like Street Fighter are meant to be played with one.

The case fits easily in your lap without feeling to baulky or heavy. Rubber feet on the bottom keep the stick steady if you want to play on a table. The USB cord is plently long. In my opinion, this stick is a great size and has all the features you could want in an arcade stick (see product description for a complete list of features).

The best thing about this stick is it's very easy to mod. The buttons have quick disconnects, which means no soddering is required. Higher quality buttons, such as Sanwa or Seimitsu ones (about $2-$3 each), will snap in easily. The stock joystick and mount is the same size as a Sanwa JLF, one of the best joysticks on the market (about $25), so swapping the joystick is similarly easy. The hardest part about modding this stick is switching the artwork (unless you want The Rock staring at you while you play). To give you a rough idea, upgrading this stick will cost you an additional $50 for premium parts. There are plently of step by step guides online for modding. Here's a link for one very helpful guide:Overall, this stick is a good buy and can be easily upgraded with a little extra cash.

this is a decent fightstick. it's not top quality but it feels good. for a beginner or i should say a returner to stick, it hasn't disappointed very much. there are some areas that can be improved to make the stick a bit better but it is easily modded (this is my intentions).

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT

the joystick had an issue from the beginning. it didn't engage properly for jumping forward and backward. i was hitting the corners correctly but the character was only walking. it seemed that the actuator was not connecting with both switches in the corners, so i had to input slightly more to the up side to get a forward or backward jump. however, i corrected that by modding the actuator on the joystick with some electrical tape. this caused the switches to engage slightly sooner and allowed both to be activated in the corners.

the stick is a square gate and will take getting use to since i was accustom to circular gates. but the gate can be changed with an octogonal gate(or circular gate if found). so i ordered an octogonal gate to provide more familiarity for myself. I will see how the joystick operates with an octogonal gate before replacing it (if necessary). since good players use square gates it should be an issue for some people.

WHAT'S NICE

the BUTTONS are very responsive. i don't think that they will need changing until they start to fail.

the TURBO function works great. so far i was able to complete some of the trials on SSF4 that has eluded me when is was playing the pad.

the FIGHTSTICK has good weight and don't move easily while playing. it has a sturdy build and look like it can take some rough treatment.

it's easily MODDED. this is great for this stick. a SANWA JLF and 30mm buttons can easily swap out the originals. no soldering required! there is also a template on the net for replacing the artwork with your own custom design (unless you like the rock and who ever the other man is. i'm not a wrestling fan).

CONCLUSION OF OPINION

it is a nice stick that you can work with. if your looking near perfection, look elsewhere! i suggest that modding is the way to go if the stick don't feel or perform to your expectations. a SANWA JLF joystick will cost around US$25 and an octogonal gate around US$5 online. this should be all that is needed. since this SE (standard edition)fightstick is for US$70 and modding is about US$30, US$100(before shipping) should provide you with a great feeling fightstick. this is less than what u would pay for a top of the line stick like a TE (tournament edition) fightstick.

this stick is definitely worth the 70 bucks. i suggest buy and mod.

UPDATE (2012/06/07)

i had this brawlstick since october and modded the joystick with a SANWA JLF an an octogonal gate. the fightstick has taken some rough treatment and is still going. i replace the L1 and X buttons with the L2 and R2 buttons due to improper functioning. these buttons i seemed to use more often so it is only natural(wear and tear) that they malfunction first. i also drilled 4 holes in the base plate of the fightstick and installed 4 thin but long bolts to secure it to an old table i have with wing nuts. as i stated earlier, the stick got some rough treatment when i was trying to execute complicated moves. therefore, i took apart the SANWA JLF stick in it and tightened the loosed screws that secured the joystick into its plate. definitely the result of rough treatment. it is windows 7 compatible(driver installed automatically) and i use it to with M.A.M.E and other emulators i have on the pc. hence, old classics like street fighter 2, killer instinct 2 and marvel superheroes(just to name a few) are available with the arcade feel i was used to.

FINAL CONCLUSION

with the mods done to the stick, it feels good. much better than before i modded. i am totally loving this stick. i am very pleased with my purchase. i suggest BUY AND MOD.

The WWE All Stars Brawl Stick is a great stick for beginners and also a great platform for modifications. I hate the artwork that came on the stick but, that was easily fixed by creating a lami label at the local copy store. The buttons also suck. They're supposed to be the same as Sanwa but, feel lighter and kind of crappy. My lazy hands like to rest my fingers onto the buttons and Sanwa's are just too sensitive for that so I switched to Seimitsu screw down with minimal effort. The joystick also needed help and was sticking due to the poor plastic quality. The metal washer was riding up outside of the indent made to capture it. I fixed this issue by gluing the metal washer in place. Parts from the joystick are compatible with the Sanwa JLF and I tried the octagonal gate but, decided the square is where to be. So far all is well.

Even though the art is hideous and the placement of the L and R buttons is switched. I would recommend this stick due to its easy moddability and overall good quality for its price.

Good fightstick to get started with while waiting on higher quality parts. The Madcatz joystick is garbage. The washer inside the joystick slides out of place. The buttons work, but feel cheep. I had to replace some of the screws when I installed a Sanwa joystick and buttons because they were stripped.

So i went to game stop yesturday just to look around and i saw this game. i remember playing the one on the nes and how much fun i had and im a big baseball fan so i had to pick it up. first they start off with all the training you will need for the game. this is for begginers or experienced gamers. you have auto where the computer does pretty much everything for you and you just run, or you have easy where you do a little bit more but still not everything, then you have technical where you control the whole field. of course hitting and pitching you always do. this game takes a little while to get the hang of. hitting can be hard sometimes but when you so get a hit or hit that homerun it is very rewarding. they also have powerups where you have a bar that builds up for all your good plays and you can use this to your advantage. you can rob homeruns you wouldnt be able to rob or catch balls you wouldnt be able to catch. you also have one star player who you normally want as your pitcher because when he buids his stats up you can get a star performace whitch pretty much guarentted a strikout or hit a homerun. i havnt tried all of the mini games but the ones i have seem fun. you can play up to for players, and battle in the mini games to. if you enjoy baseball and are looking for a fun game this is the game for you. when you go threw the world series you start from you league then reginals then the world series. you get skill points that you can give to your whole team or just one player after every game the disision is up to you. some of the trophies are easy but its not gonna be just an easy plat. your going to have to put some work in to it but all of them seem fun to get. you also collect traiding cards witch help you out during the game. you can play with 5 cards if you choose and each card does something different. one of them might be guarentted a ground ball, or guarentted to hit it down the line, theres even one to add another inning if you are in trouble. you can only use each card once during the game so use them wisly. this is my review for now and if you like little league baseball you will not go wrong with this game. if you have any questions feel free to ask

You will think this is a fun game when you first start playing it. I've played a total of about 3 tournaments or so, and they all had something in common. I would pretty much breeze through the tournaments; only losing 2 or 3 games, only to fall victim to an impossible CPU opponent during semi-finals play. The game would suddenly get extremely hard and frustrating to the point where the CPU would cheat in order to win. For example, I upgraded one of my out fielders to have a 100 rating for his fielding attributes. Well, he dropped an easy, routine flyball and of course the CPU scored and won 1-0. That kind of thing would not happen in the tournament, only in the semi-finals. Instead of making the CPU play better, they would make my team play worst. I was hoping the gameplay would be more like the original Backyard Baseball series, not so much..

I did enjoy building a team and customizing the players. After each game, you would get allotted 'skill points' based on how well you did. You can either use the points towards boosting your entire teams' attributes, or upgrade on an individual player basis. I do think it's a good game for someone looking to play an arcade style baseball game that's not as complicated as MLB The Show, it just plays unfair at times. But, for $12, what the heck do you expect?

In all, it's a fun game if you need something to do for a couple of weeks, just don't expect to win the World Series on normal difficulty :)

I needed a PS3 game that would acclimate my grandson (6) to the game before he started to play it. We realized a year ago that he had no basic grounding in the game itself, and since there is so much to learn, he needed to understand the game itself. People told me PS3 had few games for young children, but this one was exactly what we needed. Variations, levels, humor. I recommend this.

Purchased a Playstation 3 for my thirteen year old for Christmas and needed a second controller so he could play with a friend. This was the best deal I found, he had never played Resistance nor even mentioned it but for the great price I took a shot. Even tho this was ordered on the last day of Christmas shipping along with a few other items it was the only one to come late. We spent the first few days taking turns while using the single controller. He was soooo happy when he got another gift, finding out it was another controller just made his day! He was happy with the game combo also and really enjoys playing it. Hes now looking forward the third game!

Its a knock off of the G-Pack, the pictures make it look like the same thing, but its not. It snugly fits the PS3, but forget the 4 controllers. It fits 3 controllers, all the cords needed to play, and 16 games. Compared to the G-Pack it seems to have a little less padding, but it protects it from bumps and scratches. The fold open port in the back isn't big enough to plug in the power cord, so you can't really play it out of the case, not that I was planning to anyways, all in all not to shabby.

Time Crisis has never been known for its deep gameplay and complex strategies, but it's still a darn fun series and TC4 is the best one so far.

Time Crisis is basically a target game built around a lightgun, which was/is its major draw at the arcades. The name comes from the limited amount of time you're given to complete each stage; usually you feel like you're running behind the clock.

Sure, you're shooting "people," but there's no blood, dead bodies, exploding body parts, or other gratuitous violence found in many other FPSes. Honestly, I'm thankful for this.

Graphically it looks great, as can be expected of most PS3 games.

The classic arcade version runs "on rails"--your character is moved from position to position by the game, all you do is point, shoot, and RELOAD! (The announcer always screams "reload" for some reason.) TC4 adds the ability to look left and right in some scenes, a gun flashlight, and some interesting new opponents, but otherwise is pretty much the same formula as the earlier games--make it through each chapter without getting shot too many times and fight the boss at the end.

TC4 includes an FPS mode where you can move around using the Guncon's builtin joystick, but I found this frustrating and not nearly as fun as the classic arcade version.

TC4's Guncon is based on the "LED marker" technology used by the Wii and several other new controllers. Older Guncons used a video-sensing lightgun, but that method doesn't work with LCD/LED/plasma/projection TVs. The new design works with any TV, but I've found it is harder to calibrate and it really doesn't feel as accurate as the previous Guncons.

(Note that the new Guncon can't be used with previous TC versions, and old Guncons will not work with TC4.)

Time Crisis can be played with a gamepad, but it's a pain and I don't recommend it--moving the targeting cursor around the screen with a joystick is slow and awkward. The game's sole basis is really the Guncon; believe me, I've tried playing it without (as the old Guncons didn't work with my rear-projection TV....)

Should you buy TC4? For fans of the series it's an easy purchase, especially at the new low prices. If you're unfamiliar with the series, keep in mind there isn't much depth to it as there's no real strategy involved--it's just shoot, shoot, shoot. But for mindless fun and excitement it's hard to beat.

Duck Hunt to Lethal Enforcers to Time Crisis 4...to be honest, not much has changed. TC4 includes a Van Damme made for TV movie plot of a special forces team trying to take down an organization with secret bio-weapons...good enough justification for a game that includes nothing but you shooting at bad guys and insects and dodging their bullets.

Down to the nitty-gritty: the feel of the game. Replacing the arcade pedal, which allowed you to dodge and go into firing mode, is a B1 button, located just above your thumb on the shooting hand. To dodge and reload, you have to lift your shooting hand thumb (righties) and press down just behind the hammer. Easy enough, but you'll find your hand getting a bit sore from extended play. You have two analog-toggle controllers where the hammer is and in the section that juts out abruptly from the side of the gun. The first-person free movement is nothing special for experienced gamers, and is a moderate learning curve for beginners.

Accuracy: the game's setup includes two sensors that you manually hang from above the monitor; they're about an inch square and have a non-intrusive rubber-weight system to hold them into place. You'll spend a significant amount of time calibrating the gun to get just the right feel; it's a bit shaky to start, and for a 42" monitor, you have to stand at least about five feet away from the screen. But that's what the mini-games are for.

The mini games are, by far, the funnest part so far. If you've ever played the Point Blank arcade series, you'll enjoy approximately 15 shoot-the-moving-target type games in this section. You can play alternating competitively and also with a second GunCon. Simple fun, which, in essense, sums up the entire game.

The release of more thinker-oriented, patience required games such as Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Mass Effect, etc., will definitely be a load for gamers...TC4 provides that well-needed break. The free movement merely adds a non-revolutionary variation to the arcade game. It's a true-to-the arcade translation for the home; what you get at Dave And Buster's is what you get at home, plus the mini-games.

i just recieved time crisis and my accuracy is fine. if you run through the 5 point calibration correctly it should be pin point accurate. in fact i was able to snipe people really far away with a pistol. also to comment on the problem of it being to complicated. for me it felt good. of course it took a few minutes to get adjusted to it but i like the controls. as for the price issue. this is only 20 more dollars than a regular ps3 game. so you are basically paying 20 dollars for the gun.they are planning to release more games for the gun so this is a good deal. i recomend this game to anyone. i give huge credit to the creators of this gun as it operates very well for shooting and moving at the same time. and the controls are simple after a little practice. i have ordered the wii zapper and can only pray it functions as well as the guncon.

Read Best Reviews of Time Crisis 4 (Includes Guncon 3) Here

Despite horrid reviews and people bashing this game for bad accuracy and a cheap gun, it's really not as bad as they say. In fact, it's not bad at all, it's great.

Starting with the gun itself. It very accurate. You can do a standard or 5 point calibration which works very well. You can make the gun as accurate ( or inaccurate as you like). One thing i've found though that may lead people to think it has poor calibration is the tv, not the game. Look at the screen used in the arcade. It's small and square. When you take into account a 40 plus inch widescreen tv, you've got more screen space to shoot at which means you must move the gun to a greater degree that in the arcade. If you unintentionally just move your wrists to aim the gun like i do sometimes, the accurracy is horrible ( so it seems) But it you were to look down the sights of the gun while you had your wrist flex over, you'll realize that it's shooting exactly where your pointing. SO you have to shoot the way you calibrated it. If you hold it like a cop does and shoot the five targets looking straight down the sights, you need to play the game like that. If you lax your grip and lower your gun, then yes, it's not going to be accurate because that's not the way it's calibrated. I believe this is where the whole "horrible accuracy gun" claims derive from.

As for gun quality. It's great. It's definatly not like the arcade, but then again if it was, you would be paying a whole lot more that $75 for it. The bright orange color is the main reason it seems cheap. The plastic casing on it is quite well, the seems are quite smooth and the texture of the plastic is unison. It doesn't have the platic swirls that cheap plastic toys do. The buttons are fine and very functional. the only thing I don't really like is the joysticks. The knobs that pop out are small and they aren't rubberized so my thumbs slip A LOT. But overall, the guns fine.

The game itself is fun too. For all those that complain about bad storylines...well, you don't play a light gun game for the story. It's basically a straight port from the arcade. So if you like the arcade version, you'll really love this because you don't need to constantly feed it quarters.

The FPS mode is unique. It's nothing to write home about. But it's definetly fun to try out. But it gets tiring quickly though because unlike something like Resistance, you have to constantly hold both arms up to shoot.

Overall, if you like TC. This is a no brainer. If your interested in this, you'll definetly find something to like. But if you have no interest in light gun games or TC.....then why are you reading this? =P

Want Time Crisis 4 (Includes Guncon 3) Discount?

The Time Crisis series has been an Arcade and Playstation hit for years. With the evolution of the Guncon we now have a PS3 version. Now some of you may be wondering is an $80+ game worth the price. For me it's a resounding no. Of course on the outside this game has quite a bit of potential. Two versions of the game and even some mini games to keep you busy. It sounds like quite the deal but sadly isn't.

Setting up this game is not easy either. When you open the large box you get the new Gun Con 3 with an 8 foot usb cord. The game also comes with two infared devices that go above the t.v. These also connect via usb. For those of you who have a 40 gig PS3 you have just used both your usb ports. Setting up for calibration is not very easy and seems to be rather inaccurate.

The biggest shining light for this game comes from the exciting arcade edition of Time Crisis which still looks good on the PS3. The arcade edition is a lot of fun and feels exactly like the arcade game with all the action. Point down and the gun reloads. Simple controls for an overall good game. This was my first experience with this game and it was really quite an enjoyment.

The major downfall of this game was the PS3 edition of Time Crisis that was made especially for the PS3. Unfortunately where this game lacks is in it's complexity. What really hurts is the several functioning buttons on the Guncon 3. When I say several buttons I mean as many as a normal PS3 controller. I couldn't make up my mind whether I was playing a first person shooter or a gun game. From the beginning you not only go thru the normal shooting but the movement. Trying to get the calibration to work correctly was not very easy. I noticed several times that my shooting was off because of this. I was beginning to feel this would be done much better on the Wii. Having to worry about moving your character in every direction and shooting several enemies is no easy task. I played long enough to realize I didn't want to have to deal with remember the functions of a half dozen buttons.

I have played several Time Crisis games and this one fails on being too complex. Nothing felt natural about having to use a gun to move my character. In all this game had a lot of potential but tried to go way to far. If anything they would have made a simpler game for people who just want to shoot. I would not advise this to anyone unless they are a die hard Time Crisis fan and even then it would be ill advised.

Though Band Hero is similar to Guitar Hero 5 in term of gameplay, it still had a lot to offer. Guitar Hero 5 is said to be "extremely diverse" that players will find that there are songs that they like and there are also songs that they will never even touch. Band Hero done a great job in making the songs to be more specific to pop-oriented tracks.

In my opinion, the game is great in bringing family and friends together. There are a lot of more familiar songs to everyone like Love Story by Taylor Swift, She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5, Beautiful Soul by Jesse McCartney and more. The guitar and drum notes are relatively easy compared to Guitar Hero, so it will be more accessible to everyone especially beginners and not-so-hardcore gamers. The Sing-Along feature is a great addition to make the game more karaoke-like as multiple player can sing simultaneously on one song.

To conclude, you can enjoy this game at it fullest when you bring along your family and friends to play. It is more easy and the songs are more specific and mostly well-known to all. If you are a Guitar Hero expert wanting for challenge, then this is game is certainly not for you. I am giving 5 stars because I can finally enjoy my favorite game with my friends.

Edited 06:20 PM 12/12/09

Pros

A good game for beginners and those who want to have fun together

Sing-along karaoke mode is great for party

Many known pop songs

You still can transfer songs from other Guitar Hero games (DLC, World Tour, Smash Hits and 5) and vice-versa

Party play is a blast

Cons

For experienced Guitar Hero players, this game will be too easy

It is basically the same as Guitar Hero 5

May not be suitable for every Guitar Hero hardcore

****in general*****

Band Hero: Featuring Taylor swift is Guitar Hero's answer to the "Rock Band" series. It is highly entertaining and fun with a lot of song choices that's bound to please almost anyone from easy listening to punk/indie to rock. From eras of the 60's to current(early 2010ish, of course, if you read this review 10 years from now, it won't be current anymore. LOL). The game play is fun and addicting and works with the "Rock Band" instruments (guitar and drums and microphone). Replay value is high and has a Karaoke function that is very cool for younger kids that love to sing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***in detail***
1) Game Play:
Band Hero is a branch out from the "Guitar Hero" franchise to include more of a "band" play vs. just a few guitars strumming. If anyone has played the drums on other Band Hero or Rock Band games they would probably agree that THAT is the instrument that everyone covets. The game play on Band Hero is very smooth and easy to learn especially if one is already experienced with the other Guitar Hero/Rock Band games.
The Guitar chords are nice, the drum buttons work well. If I do have to complain about one thing, that is the bass bar on the drums are almost invisible and can be missed if one is not paying attention to it. And when compared to the Rock Band drum bass bar, the Band Hero drum bass bar is a lot less noticeable.
The Guitar part, we prefer the Band Hero Guitar play over Rock Bands much more.
At our age and level, we are comfortable at a medium level in Band Hero and sometimes will try the Hard or even expert levels (My wife and I are in our late 40's to 50's). The medium level in Rock Band is pretty "easy" but when we would switch to "hard" in Rock Band, it becomes really hard...there doesn't seem to be a "medium" level in Rock Band and their easy is almost kindergarten like(not to insulat any kindergarteners out there. LOL).
The Microphone control is pretty good and on par.
We also enjoy creating our own bands and that is a nice option to have.
We haven't tried importing other games yet.
we enjoyed the Karaoke in the game play.
There are also a couple of interesting things in Band Hero that we really liked.
in earlier Guitar Hero and Rock Band series. The singers and the band players would pretty much do the same things over and over again no matter what song was sang. In Band Hero, each song was given individual vocals as well as synchronization of the lip movements to the music as well as more unique band members playing with their instruments. While this is NOT a big deal, if one has played Rock Band: Beatles(which we also own). Seeing the Beatles using the same video over and over again with the different songs made us felt a bit "ripped off" as we thought that for the money we'd paid, we'd liked to see them do more with the Fab Four's videos/graphics to make us feel more like we ARE the Beatles.
The other improvement of Band Hero is the ability to earn synchronization of the "Band Moment". Sure, it is just a game, but if we don't work together, it still don't sound "good" and it is fun to get those "band moments" and work as a team. When we would play some of our friends sometimes. Some of them would just hit buttons without really trying. While we understand that there is no pressure, it also made us feel like that they weren't having as much fun as we were because we were trying really hard to sync the buttons and the chords..
the overall game play of Band Hero is top notch when we compare it to eariler versions of Guitar Hero and Rock Band that we own...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

2) Song Choices:

The earlier Guitar Hero games are more alternative/hard rock thus using more guitar chords and beats...let's face it, it wouldn't be too much fun to play guitar chords to say, "We've Only Just Begun" by the Carpenters. It would simply be too soft and boring to play. To play "GUITAR HERO" the stress on the "Guitar" play is utmost important. And most indie rocks/alternative rocks/hard rocks fit that bill for great Guitar fun.

We love the Beatles and we enjoyed the Beatles Rock Band, but the game play can get a bit boring after a couple of songs as the Beatles, while their songs are great, are known more for their harmonius, smooth sounds than their guitar playing abilities...

in Playing Band Hero, we wondered if the guitar play would become less fun. Surprisingly, it wasn't..it is still great fun and there were actually some songs that surprised us at how difficult and challenging the songs were.

So, the song choices were really good for this game. It isn't just more alternative rock or hard rock anymore but a nice selection of the 60's-current, and smooth and easy American Pie (our least favorite) to the fast and fun "Dirty Little Secrets"; the funky 70's "YMCA" to the odd and weird 80's such as "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" or "Rio"; from classic favorties such as "Mr. Roboto" and "every Rose Has Its Thorn" to Taylor Swift's new generations country Rock of "You Belong To Me" and "Love Story".

This Band Hero seems to offer something for everyone...

a hard core Guitar Hero fan will probably raise their eyebrows at the choice of songs. But let me just say that my brother, who almost listens to heavy metal and alternative rocks exclusively, enjoyed playing this game with us. There are songs in this game to please everyone during a family gathering or event. Probably not for someone who is addicted to getting GOOD or GREAT at Guitar Hero games. But we are not die hard fans of the game. We just like to play it for fun and med range challenge. We never thought about getting to the expert level or wanting to form our own bands...we just love living a little bit of our youthful dreams, to join a band, and play the guitar or drum, and sing a little tune, even off key...and in the meantime, sharing good times and laughter with friends and family...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Overall, we highly recommend this game for anyone who enjoys a good time, always wanted to play guitar but probably never will(but might get inspired to), want to sing some songs and smile and laugh, and live some of those fantasy of joining a band and live the life of a rocker...
We got rock band 2 for christmas. Our daughter did not know many of the rock songs on the rock band disks so we tried out this one. she loves it. She knows most of the songs and it actually gives us some nice variety from purely rock songs. Great family time game!
We own Guitar Hero World Tour which was pretty fun and Guitar Hero 5 Which I didn't care for but Band Hero is the best in my opinion. My family knows and likes most of the songs in Band Hero and we like the popular pop songs instead of a bunch of songs that you have never heard of like on Guitar Hero 5. We also like the new characters like Taylor Swift and Adam Levine from Maroon 5. This game is just a blast to play with a group of people.
I got this game mainly to add more songs for my family and I to play using the guitar hero world tour band set that we have and I was pretty impressed with how fun it is. I have all the guitar hero games from 1 up to 5 and this is definitely one of the easiest ones, so if you are looking for a challenge you might want to reconsider. There are also a lot of goofy songs on the game, but the majority of it is modern (from the 90's and 2000's) and there are none of the metal songs or classic rock that you see in the other games. With all that said, the graphics are great and sounds quality is great. It follows an almost identical set-up to guitar hero 5 and allows you to import a big collection of the songs from gh5 and ghwt for a few dollars each. This game is perfect for people with kids or that just want to play more guitar hero. Because of my personal taste in music, I prefer it to gh5, but I think that the set-list will either make or break the game for most people (make sure and google it).
I'll start off by saying I never write reviews for any products I purchase, but I feel compelled to write a review for my fellow gamers out there seeing as there are hardly any reviews for the PS3 Black Ops PrecisionAim Controller.
The controller looks and feels great. The design and graphics are really top notch. I'll even go as far as saying it feels better than a stock PS3 Dualshock controller in your hands. The L2/R2 triggers are way better than Sony's triggers and they should take a page from MadCatz book in terms of the trigger design. The red glow illuminating the analog sticks gives the controller a nice touch.
Now on to the most important aspect of the controller. How does it handle during gameplay? The analog sticks actually perform very well when they want to work. Due to the included 'lag free' (lol) usb dongle this isn't the case. The analog sticks themselves don't really have any dead zones, but it's the connection between the controller and dongle wherein lies the problem. The connection isn't always consistent therefore causing a jagged flow to the movement you're trying to accomplish on the screen. If the connection would have been wired like its Xbox360 counterpart perhaps the translation from analog sticks to screen would've been smoother. Another missed opportunity was the placement of the (2) combat buttons on the back of the controller. The buttons work great if you have really small hands. I almost have to bend my fingers on the back of the controller in a crab shape in order to even get near the buttons. They should have been placed lower so as to provide a more comfortable, ergonomic position for the way you grasp the controller.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this controller as the key features didn't really come together as I hoped. We all know if you're looking at this controller it's because you want an edge in most probably a FPS game. This isn't the controller for that added edge. Unfortunately, it was a missed opportunity and not by that much. Take it from me, as I look for every edge I can take as I have Tritton AX720 Digital Gaming Headset and Gunnar Optiks S6126/2-C004 Catalyst Shredder Digital Performance Eyewear with i-AMP Lens Technology (Crimson) for long gaming sessions and hearing all the small audio details that escape regular TV speakers.
Hope the review helps anyone that's on the fence right now. FYI: Don't bother trying the Pro EX Controller for PS3 it's worse than the Black Ops controller (really big dead zones).
Ok i've read alot of reviews about how much people hate it, but i thought why not and bought this controller and so far im glad i did! i overall really enjoy the controller but i dont absolutely love it. Pros: Size this controller is PERFECT for me its pretty much a bigger dual shock 3, another pro is the "combat buttons" they are located on the back where your fingers lay what the combat buttons do is they can be set to certain buttons on the front i.e. the left combat button can be used as L3, square, triangle and LP,while the right can be used as R3, X , circle and Rp, they also can slow down the aiming speed for better accuracy , but i dont use it so its more of an "extra" the final pro for me was the price tag i got it used, like new for $26 not bad. Cons: the 3 main cons i have are it has to use a dongle, no sixaxes, and the last complaint is some lag not enough regret buying but enough to miss a perfect shot. all in all its a near perfect controller but what third party controller is? For me its Great. *UPDATE* 2 WEEKS LATER its broke so i fed it to the trash can...
Received the controller today and gave it a whirl on Medal of Honour, as Black ops is still a week or so away. Anyways the look of the controller is top notch, the artwork looks great and the red LED glow from the base of the stick is again very pleasing to the eye, especially at night.
I found no lag from the wireless controller, as some seem to think you might get,and the general build quality seems sturdy. The sticks are responsive, very much the same if not better than the stock controller. Shoulder triggers also feel abit grippier.
For the cons, the way I hold the controller, I feel the combat buttons are alittle low. Its not a bad thing as I am happy with them, just if the buttons we bigger, or oval in shape they might work alittle better. The Precision Aim isnt a big winner. Yes it slows the right stick down when the combat button is pressed but its to slow, unless your lining up a target on the other side of the map. The good thing though is you can remap the combat buttons on the fly so at least they dont go to waste. The D-Pad is also not as good as the stock controller so for anything D-pad dependent I wouldnt recommend it.
Overall I am happy with it, going to be a good addition to the PS3 and its seems to be built to last. If you like the look and keen to spend the money on a controller that isnt stock standard, I would recommend this all the way.
So i Found this remote at my Best buy store. I was sold on how cool it looks. After i came here and read all the bad reviews and issues with this controller. I must say the feel and looks on the controller is beyond expectations. I got mine and I tried it out under these conditions.1 ) my computer was off. I did not have any 2.4 gh equipment runing in the house at that moment. The uSB Hub had a diret and clear view of the controller...and my controller had no lag or any problem. The issue is when I had it in my back the signal would become choppy. Beyond that i was happy with it. However my controller had a side pad that was loose and rattled, so the next morning i took it back in exchange for a new one that would not rattle. I was content with this change. Here are the bad news. Tonight i try the new remote (the not rattling one), my computer is on this time with a clear view between the USB HUB and my controller and now i can't play anything because of this huge lag. The controller went from 5 to 1 star instantly. I need to be able to play as my wife uses the computer. THIS IS CRAP. I don't know if the first controller was the exception to the online reviews but under other wreless devices it just won't cut it.
MadCatz do something better and try it out before you put it in the stores. IT'S NOT THAT HARD!!
I ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,will take it back and it will stay in the store this time!!!
I purchased this controller....simply because of its name "Black Ops PrecisionAIM Controller". I consider myself to be very very good in the game and in order to play the game good, you need a controller that responds to your finger fast. This controller has the worst LAG I have every seen. I read tons of reviews that also mentioned this lag, but dumb me...I went ahead and purchased it anyway! Within the last year, I've purchased over 4 different controllers looking for that "perfect" one. This is the only controller that is absolutely horrible. Do yourself a favor, don't buy this controller.
I purchased this because I wanted to save a little money. When I received it in the mail it was in a generic box so I was a little skeptical about it. When I went to install it to my playstation 3 the base did not want to stay connected to my console. What I figured out what was wrong was that the screw that is supposed to hold the stand and the console together had no thread. When I sent a picture to the vendor about it their reply was that is how it is supposed to be. It is too much of a hassle to return it.
The PS3 slim is an amazing, slim, piece of machinery that can be displayed vertically on its side or horizontally on it's bottom. For many people horizontal storage is the way to go, however, if you are looking for an artistic addition to your home entertainment center, vertical storage is the way to go. Yet the system is not the most stable, standing on its side. A bump to the table or even putting in and removing game discs can make you wish you had kept the system horizontal...but no longer! This plastic and metal vertical base for the PS3 slim is exactly what the Doctor ordered! The grip is fantastic and being able to quickly swap discs without fear of toppling the system might make you shout alonz y as you dive into your favorite titles! GERONIMO!
I'm very satisfied with these sleeves. I was looking for sleeves that would protect the controllers from sweat and also work with the PlayStation Move Charging Station. The other brands cover the bottom of the controllers and prevent the use of any charging station (without the removal of the sleeves for every charge). These sleeves come down only far enough to to meet the lip of the Sony charger and also not cover the controller's charging indicator light. They are a snug fit but are easy to put on since both ends are open. There are no ridges but the sleeves are tacky enough to not slip in my hands. There was a silicon smell and washing with soap did not help. After sitting a couple of days in the the Tide detergent box the smell is gone. They are now Tide fresh. I had ordered the red and the blue ones but I've returned the blue to Amazon because the package had 3 navigation sleeves and 1 move sleeve, instead of 2 and 2. There are black ones now so I'll probably get those.
