Being a long time RB fan as well as growing up with the Beatles had to have the new kit. Here are our thoughts after playing the whole game only took about 2 hours with all of us playing on Expert. I'm mainly hoping to help anyone trying to decide if it's worth coughing up the cash for the new instruments.

DRUM KIT (WIRELESS)

If you have a Rock Band 2 drum kit already don't bother with this one. If you are still using a wired set or none at all, then this is definitely a cool addition/upgrade. The only complaint I have is that the pads are much harder and LOUDER than previous kits I had to stop after the first set and go get some silencer pads. I highly suggest this accessory, especially if you hit your drums a little hard like I do. One nice feature is the pedal has a metal reinforcement already. Other than the white color, it's a RB2 drum set (you can add the cymbol extensions). There is a 'kick drum head', which is a flimsy wire circle with wrinkled up nylon that looks absolutely terrible. I highly recommend getting some hickory 7A sticks at a music store (light ones).

HöFNER VIOLIN BASS (WIRELESS)

To me, this is what I was pumped for, Paul's replica bass. It does look very cool, and is much quiter than the Fender guitar, but the neck is really long (as a bass should be) and it strains your hand in no time. If you are a couch-player (like my son), you may find that the lower side button can be pressed by accident a lot. Other than that, it's a really nice addition to any set, and I always suggest using a real guitar strap instead of the punk strap that they give you. $10 at any music store and you're pimpin'!

Of course it's right-handed, which I understand, and ironically it's not very lefty-friendly. I have a hard time finding my way back on the frets when playing, the original Fender has easy to feel ridges that keep you on track, on this bass however they've smoothed out the frets a bit and stiffened the buttons so hard & expert players may have a little trouble. Easy & medium players should have no problems.

MICROPHONE

Same as previous mikes, nothing new here. And yes it is wired. I've seen all over that this kit is supposed to have a mike stand. Mine did not have it.

*Update thanks to a user comment, I did find the microphone stand buried in the package, it was in an unmarked small box that looked like packing material.

GAME

The screen is much busier, but the images and actual sound clips from the studio & concerts is very cool. If you are a Beatles fan, definitely go for the Story mode, it goes in chronilogical order of their career. The drumming fill 'tunnel' to activate your star power has been replaced with a one-note shot to the green pad. I miss the fills already, but the game does seem much more generous with the star power for drums. Guitar & bass is about the same in that regard.

There are several enhancements to the game play & options, too many to list but know that you can't play RB/RB2 songs with this game, and you can't play Beatles songs with older RB editions. The volume drives me crazy the menu part is twice as loud as when the songs play. I think the graphics and extra enhancements are great though, glad to see improvements there.

DIFFICULTY

If you're an expert player, or even hard, you won't find any challenges here other than singing. Our resident singer found herself out of breath after several songs. #2 in difficulty is the bass section surprisingly. I have a whole new respect for Paul! There are some songs that will keep you busy on drums, but not many. If anything, Ringo's beats are different and awkward to get the hang of. Many songs have little to no snare, or some crazy patterns, but overall they are really easy songs.

SINGING

By far the biggest change of the game is the multi-singer capability. You can have up to 3 mikes hooked up, and join in singing harmony or you can have everyone singing lead and the game takes the best vocals and uses that score. I have had an absolute blast singing while playing guitar/bass. Since I know most of these songs by heart it's easy & fun.

OVERALL

Beatles fans will find a lot of cool things in this game, but serious rockers will be yawning after the first set or two. The equipment is cool, but if you have a wireless kit and guitar you like, you may be better off just getting the software. It really is a gem for Beatles fans. I'm glad to expose my kids to these legends and it's always a pleasure to hear those songs. I think the hype is a little over-rated, Beatles fans will understand, I don't think non-fans will though.

Before I start this review, I'd like to state (for the record) that I'm a pretty big Beatles fan. I'm also a big fan of the "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band" series of games. With that said, I have to admit that I really enjoyed this game. I bought the "limited edition" bundle that comes with the Hofner Bass Guitar, Drums, Mic, and Mic stand. It also comes with some collector's Beatles postcards.

Hardware:

All of the instruments that came with this bundle seems to have a high build quality. Even the mic stand seemed surprising 'sturdy as hell' :) The MCcartney Hofner guitar especially stands out. It's beautifully made and looks very much like a real guitar. The details in the paint-job was a pleasant surprise. It even has a little light sensor on it that can automatically calibrate screen timing and response time of the guitar.

Game:

The game itself is a brilliant tribute to The Beatles. It's beautifully rendered with details and nuiances that were well thought out and executed. The intro video to the game is probably one of the best I've ever seen. Even the menu transitions in this game are beautiful and creatively done! A lot of love and care was taken to make this game... and it really does shine through. The music itself was painstakingly remastered and just sounds amazing! I liked that all the songs were available to play (in quick-play mode) right away without having to unlock them. The game features 45 Beatles songs spanning their whole career. Of course I would've liked more songs... but I also understand that they couldn't fit every single song onto the disc. I heard that more songs will be available for purchase at a later date through the online store though.

Gameplay:

In "Story Mode" you can play individually or in a band and it basically follows their career. The graphics are done really well and there is a lot of attention to detail apparent. For example, the guitars they are holding look really detailed and when they are strumming the guitars, they are strumming the real chords and notes. The concert halls seem like they have been rendered to look exactly like the venues they played. Some of the songs start out with them recording it in the studio... but then zooms them into a music video that was especially made for the song. The 3D rendered videos of these songs are just amazing and it's hard to concentrate on strumming when you're trying to look at the music video at the same time :)

Quickplay mode lets you pick any songs you want to play (either solo or with a band) or create your own set-list of songs from the compete list of songs. There is also an online play option for both Story mode and Quick-play, though I haven't really tried it out yet. As always, here is a quick list of Pros and Cons I found while playing this game:

Pros:

-Graphics, videos, and Styling of game is done right!

-The re-mastered music sounds great and is offered in surround sound option.

-Wide array of songs that span their career

-Instruments and hardware seem to be of high build quality

-Game-play is fun and Menus are easy to navigate and understand... plus, beautifully rendered.

-There is a nice surprise when you beat the game... but I'm not telling! :)

-Setting up the instruments was pretty easy.

Cons:

-Medium difficulty mode on Guitar and Bass seems too easy, while "Hard" mode is a big leap from "Medium"

-No expansion song packs available at launch.

-Limited Edition bundle is pretty expensive (retails at $

-Missing some great songs... like "Hey Jude", "And I love her", and "Strawberry Fields" to name a few.

Conclusion:

If you are a fan of The Beatles music, this game is a must! The music is better than you've ever heard it, and it looks visually stunning! If you can't afford the limited edition bundle (I would recommend that you buy just the game itself because it's compatible with many of the guitars and instruments of the older Guitar Hero and Rock Band games. My guitar from my 'Guitar Hero World Tour' worked great for this game. My tip is to buy a complete band bundle from one of the previous games (like Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero World Tour) and buy just the Beatles game. That way you'll have a complete band of instruments and 2 games to play instead of just one. In a word, I have to admit that this game "Rocks" :)

Everyone's done the review of the GAME itself, which is stellar, I thought I'd use this review space to actually assess what comes in the premium bundle and whether it justifies the additional $190 as opposed to just buying software.

The premium bundle comes with the game disc, the Hofner bass controller, Ludwig drum set, 1 wired microphone, a microphone stand, and some postcards.

Hofner Bass controller:

Absolutely beautiful replica instrument, definitely the best-looking peripheral I've seen yet for RB or GH. I like the action on it, it plays just as well if not a little better than the RB2 Fender Strat. Also like the RB2 guitar, it includes the camera and mic for auto-calibration. New to this model (at least over my RB2 guitar), the PS button is located on the bottom of the guitar instead of the face, and the start button has a slight delay on it to reduce accidental pauses. Other people have complained about the neck of the bass being too long and straining their fret hand I haven't had problems with this, but my STRUMMING hand gets strained, I guess due to the somewhat awkward rounded edge. Unlike the Fender Strat, I can only use this guitar for an hour or so before it starts to hurt my strumming hand. So a very nice-looking instrument, but for me at least, not appropriate for extended play sessions.

Ludwig Bass controller:

Identical to the RB2 wireless drum kit except for some cosmetic changes (white pattern around the rings of the drum pads, the actual pads themselves look a little different, includes the Beatles kick drum head, purely for aesthetics). It may be a smidgen louder than the RB2 drum kit, but I didn't notice that, it's definitely quiter than the original RB1 kit.

Microphone:

Same one that comes with RB2. That is all.

Microphone stand:

Pretty nice single-arm mic stand. We've had some minor issues with the mic dropping a bit if you rock out too hard, but generally speaking it's pretty stable, and folds up nicely for storage/portability.

Postcards:

Meh. Cute, I suppose the Beatles completist would have to have these.

Bottom Line: Since the premium Beatles guitars are going for about $100 by themselves, I suppose the price tag of this package could be justified. But that's up to the individual consumer to decide. Personally, I feel like the $250 price tag is a mite high, and I knocked a bit off my rating to show that. If it were selling for even $200, I'd have no qualms giving it a perfect rating. Still though, the game is stellar, and if you're uncertain about buying the full bundle, at least give the software a try.

If you are a Beatles fan and you get this game, you'll think you've died and gone to heaven. If you aren't a Beatles fan and you purchase this game, you'll quickly be enthralled. Just watching the intro to this game is like taking some Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and listening to, well, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. The animations are superb, the audio is top notch, and the extras are so numerous that you'll be screaming and crying to come back for more. Every aspect of this game has been tweaked to perfectionI can't personally imagine a better music game. Satisfy your urge for Beatlemania with Beatles Rock Band.

I love this controller. The first thing I noticed was the fact they put the start and other buttons off to the side so they dont get in the way of your teams logo, smart thinking mad catz. Although the other button are small they are easy to access. The only draw back to these controllers is that they do have to take batteries and of course with that they take one of the usb ports that is a small price to pay for rockin your teams logo thought.

the price on this deal is hard to beat and the game is a ton of fun! I was a big fan of Red Dead Redemption's open world gameplay, and this game gives me that quality of freedom. So far, having just begun playing the title, and having only partially played the first Assassin's Creed. I'd say I'm much more pleased with the storyline and setting. My 12 year old son has played quite longer than I have, and greatly enjoys the options in gameplay...from the varied weapons, ship play, and largeness of the game world. I'll review more later once I'm further in the game. This Wal-mart version includes no DLC content.

I Have played both Ultimate Ninja Storm 1 and 2 and I can happily say that Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Storm Generations is without a doubt my favorite Naruto Game out there! With more than 70 playable characters this has the largest roster in a Naruto game to date! I have been playing it non stop since I picked it up this morning and wow am i really enjoying it! While i can say a bit was taken away from the story as a whole most major points are covered and of course more stories are told not included in the other two games. The graphics ars stunning as always and combat is really fun! Do yourself a favor and pick it up

The creators of the Ultimate Storm video game series seemed to shoot themselves in the feet with UNS: Generations. This game appeared to be, at least to me, a sort of buffer between UNS: 2 and UNS: 3. The fact that Generations came right in the middle of the Storm 2 and Storm 3, combined with the lower quality of this game, makes it obvious that developers were trying to keep fans of the video game series interested while waiting patiently for the 3rd installment. Unfortunately, as a fan of the series, I was not satisfied with this game as I anticipated to be.

PROBLEM AREAS: (Sadly, there are many.)

-Lack of story mode: Obviously because developers were putting Naruto Shippuden UNS: 3 into process, and did not have the money to spend and the time to promote a more extensive game with longer game play and larger worlds. Taking away a key component of the game series to be able to move around as Naruto, Sasuke and other characters in a story mode where one can gather items and interact with the environment is a HUGE draw back to me. It'll lead me into my next point...

-Fixed, narrated story mode: This made up for the lack of free play. To me, the narration was inconsistent and the individuals used for narration in the Japanese version, which I vastly prefer over the dub did not seem to mesh well with the personalities/storylines of the characters they were narrating for. That's just an opinion, but for example, the Japanese narration for Sasuke's arc was heavy, drawn-out and awkward sounding. Not to mention that I didn't feel like sitting through a lengthy, verbose narration about things I already knew well of the characters in the game! With this new and mediocre mode, one unlocks new arcs without free play by finishing initial arcs first if you beat Sasuke's tale, you unlock Itachi's, and so on and so forth. To me, this didn't seem challenging.

-Lack of difficulty: Again, this game did not have a difficult layout. You beat one arc, you unlock another, and if you are very bored of watching 5-10 minute narrations about things you already know [if you've watched the show or read up to date what is happening], you skip the cutscenes, head into battles we've sometimes even seen before in previous games, and then move onto another narration/cutscene. The game itself is very FLAT.

-Some CGI glitches: Just something I noticed. Movement could get awkward at times. The developers aimed high to make character movement more fluid but now and then it becomes difficult to maneuver the characters and how they move. Hopefully it will be better in UNS: 3.

-Poor concept art: I might be picky with this since I am an artist myself, but I found the art for this game the drawings of characters as we select them for battle in the free play arena/computer vs. player, etc. mode to be poorer than previous concept art we have seen with the UNS series. I found the new drawings of our favorite characters to be somewhat... off, and not as aligned to Kishimoto's vision. Essentially they seemed like a fan artist's version of these characters, a very good version, but not the Kishimoto version. This irked me, and seemed to reinforce that the time put into this makes it a cheap buffer game and nothing more.

-New substitution meter: For some reason, developers put in a substitution bar for doing substitutions that makes it impossible for one to do an unlimited number as we could in Storm: 2. You have a certain number of substitutions available and if the bar runs out, even if you have chakra at your demand, well... good luck! This was annoying. Substitution is a huge win factor in the Storm series. Without it, you could very well die...all the time.

POSITIVE AREAS: (Yes, this game does have some positives, but not many!)

-An attempt at more fluid game play. Stated in the above. It was a major improvement from the last game and I appreciate this despite some glitches.

-Very attractive visuals, which is always a huge plus for this game series.

-A wide range of characters to unlock and play... but perhaps too many? It's really a matter of opinion. I see the 'generations' theme they were going for though. I think that the wide range of characters could be fun for individuals who are newer to the Naruto/Shippuden series.

-Some interesting new battle areas. Not fabulous, but the effort is put in and you can tell. They were going for variety here.

VERDICT: This game is definitely a buffer game, and take that as you will. You will NOT find the high quality, free play story mode of Storm 2 and previous games, and this might make some of you out there, if you're anything like me, very frustrated. The visuals are excellent, but is that worth paying even 27 or 28 dollars for this game, when you could save up to pre-order Ultimate Ninja Storm: 3? Absolutely not. If you're a big fan of this series you're bound to face disappointment.

Don't waste the cash. Even though I was thinking of giving this 1 star, the effort put into SOME areas, like visuals, more fluid game play, and a greater variety prevented me from giving this game 1 star, but it still not worth paying the money for. It's only so-so.

I'm pretty sure I've played most, if not all, of the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games. While this one is my favorite (mainly because of the new characters you can use), there are some things of the past I wished this game had.

Game Modes: There's no explore Konoha and surrouding areas RPG mode! While this aspect isn't necessary in a fighting game, and I've seen other recent fighting games also eliniate this part, it definitely allows the player to take a break from the sometimes monotony of continuously battling. I'm not a big online battler either, so an RPG mode would have been greatly appreciated. The story mode is interesting as it takes you through the perspectives of different characters. I was definitely looking forward to the new Anime scenes that were being promoted, but, honestly, only a couple of them were of any real worth or fun to watch. Another downside to the story mode is that, even though you do get to play as different characters, some of them have intertwining stories, and therefore it's possible for you to fight the same battle two or three times...just as different people. That to me became too monotonous to a point. Also, the lack of "cinematic/quick time" battles leaves the mode a bit lacking. Free Battle Mode has your typical VS, Online Battle, and Training. There's also a Survival Mode and Tournament Mode. I have tried Tournament yet, but I do like the survival. It provides a good amount of chalenge at times, and I'm only at the intermmediate level right now. You have to start at Basic or Beginner Level (can't remember what it's called) and work your way up. The other modes are the Store and Collection, which are all self-explanatory.

Gameplay: The battle system really hasn't change from the past couple games. The attack, jump, item, and chakra charge buttons are all the same. Every character has one jutsu attack and one Ultimate Jutsu (which, sadly, were all recycled from the last game except for the new characters). This is actually one of the things I hate the most about the last couple games. in the past, although you could still use only one Ultimate Jutsu, but at least almost every character had a few of them to chose from. There's still Awakening Mode. For those new to the series, this mode becomes available when your HP gets below 50%. You charge your chakra to the max, and your characters gain heightened defense, attack, etc. You also still have to support characters, each with pre-assigned characteristics (attack, defense, or balance). You have a team gauge, and the more you use your support characters, the more the gauge fills. When you fill the gauge up once, it automatically activates your supports' passive abilities. If the ability is Attack, your support will join you for a few hits when you attack your opponent with regular attacks, and when you knock and opponent back (either with a jutsu or regular attack) your support will appear to knock them back for an extra hit. If their ability is defense, your support will protect you while you chakra charge or when an opponent tries to dash at you in order to stun you. Finally, if their ability is balance then your support will join you when you when you chakra charge and throw shuriken and they will also take your opponent's Ultimate's Jutsu instead of you getting hit (which can be useful but it also knocks out that support for the remainder of the battle). Now, if you fill the gauge up a second time, it allows you to do a team attack, which is always fun to watch and can take away almost 50% of the enemy's HP. The one thing I wish the game implemented was switching out your team of characters during battle, kind of like Marvel vs Capcom instead of having one main fighter and two supports. The only really big change that I noticed was that you can't spam the subtitution jutsu. You have a gauge that lets you do it a maximum of four times, and then you'll have to wait for the gauge to refill any of the four bars before you can use it again. This definitely adds more strategy to the game, which is good.

Characters: Yes, there are over 70 characters that span from the beginning of the Naruto timeline to the 5 Hokage Summit Arc. Here's my beef though. Only like 20 of those characters are from before Shippuuden, which is disappointing to me because I was really looking forward to playing as characters that they stopped using in the recent games like (Anko, Kurenai, the Sound 4) and maybe even some new ones from that generation like (Genma, Raido, Ibiki). Oh, but it's not that those characters don't appear in the game, they're just support only. So not only are there less characters from teh first generation, the ones you can use are just younger versions of Naruto and his friends. More diversity would have been nice.

The only other thing I can think to comment on are the stages. There's a good number of them, but there is also some repetition. A few of the stages are the same place just different times of day or different weather.

Despite all of the things that I found to be a downside (they are all personal opinions), this game is a ton of fun, and the new characters are a definite welcome addition.

Want Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations (Limited) Discount?

Well, I bought this like three months ago, I usually don't care about online playing so I just spend my playing time against the computer or completing the story modes, so for a fighting game is the same than all the others naruto games for ps3 very repetitive, so the only way you enjoy this game is if you love this tv show otherwise it doesn't have much to offer, besides the big character roster.

I will by ultimate ninja storm 3 when the price drops because even if it's like the second part which was very good, naruto games don't deserve to be so expensive. They are too silly for being so expensive :P

I play a lot of Resistance 2 and COD4 & COD:WAW. Resistance for its massive battles & COD for the great graphics and super tight play. Killzone 2 is a great blend of each.

There are a lot of complaints about the controls, but none from me. The guns are weighted and recoil as you would expect. The characters move like heavily armored soldiers carrying heavy artillary might. I could see it as an issue if it wasn't equal, but everyone is playing at the same speed and after a very short amount of time, I can say without fail that I am pretty quick with the M82 and plenty of online players that are far superior to me will light you up as quick as any game of Halo or COD.

As far as the graphics, online there is no dropoff compared to the single player. This is the best looking game I can remember playing. I had a difficult time going back to Resistance because it looked terrible after KZ2.

The single player game is ...about like every other signle player FPS that I can remember. Follow a line shoot guys, etc. I only played for a couple of hours to get familiar with the controls before playing online so I can't really speak as an authority on the single player.

The online game has all of the usual suspects as far as game modes go. The new exception is being able to string any of the five together that plays as single game. If you have a squad that you enjoy playing with, this is great. If you jump into a 25 minute game and get stuck with a team of half-tards, prepare to be frustrated that you have to wait 25 minutes to get credited with your experience. It's also worth noting that KZ2 has a similiar level up / xp system that unlocks various items like COD 4. It's about what you'd expect. The battles are awesome and where KZ2 really takes the cake for me is the whole package with 30 people at a time. My biggest complaint with COD4 is 12 player battles on medium sized maps. It is too easy for people to camp and the middle of the screen remain empty for extended periods especially in hardcore modes where you are playing 1 shot kills.

Killzone 2 doesn't reinvent the wheel and doesn't really offer anything new in terms of gameplay. A similiar thing has happened with the fighter genre. You can only "play guns" in so many different ways, so the next logical step is perfecting the genre, and right now, Killzone 2 is at the top of the heap.

UPDATED:

I purchased the downloadable map packs, Titanium & Steel. One takes place on a moving train, the other in the cruiser shown at the opening of the game. The train is a sight to behold and a snipers dream come true as the action funnels to visible choke points and the map is very narrow. The Vekta cruiser is multi-leveled and circular in shape. It's a stark contrast to the rest of Killzone with bright lighting and vibrant colors. The pack cost $6.00 and both are fun to play. The only problem is not many people appear to have purchased. It is common to find lobbies with the new map pack OR the originals. They're great to see in motion, espcially the train, but not a mandatory purchase at all.

I have such a problem with connection, that I've found myself going back to COD4 & WAW despite preferring Killzone 2's gameplay. Not only am I frequently disconnected, but it logs the PS3 offline and occassionaly locks up the system and requires a hard restart. I've even found myself having to restart my router becuase it locks everything up and I have to reboot my connection. It is exceptionally frustrating to play partial matches and get kicked (especially the longer games) and pop in COD or Resistance and have no issues.

Finally Clan battles. Ugh. Oddly enough, COD felt like you had to be in a clan to enjoy the game. In fact, it's almost mandatory (log into a match with just a bunch of guys versus a party and get ready to die...a lot, no level balancing). KZ seems to be the opposite. Clan battles have rampant cheating and cheapness you just don't see in the big open matches. I played in a couple clan matches and virtually every negative I'd heard about them was evident(not respawning in deathmatch, hiding the the radio in your base, etc.). I've had a much better time just going from game to game until I find a group that is competitive on both sides. The good rooms are typically set to automatically balance, so a room with a few good players on both sides can be as much fun as any clan battle.

Pros

+Amazing Graphics. Probably the best to date.

+Very smooth running game. Always looks and runs great.

+Fun factor is very high. Up there with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Game of the Year.

+The Perfect DTS sound will blow you away.

+Solid level design keeps you aching to see what lurks around the next corner.

Cons

-The Controls are slightly cumbersome at first. But I've seen much much worse. Sometimes doing "actions" takes a second to line up. Like jumping or climbing over something/through a window. But after you get use to it, shouldn't be too much of a problem at all. Just like any game, the controls may take a while to get use to.

For starters, this is by far the smoothest running game I have ever played. The game just flows. Everything from loading a level to switching from an in-game-movie to game-play are seamless. I was amazed by the graphics. The lighting and the texture detail left me speechless. Everything from the control to the menu style was very well thought out.

The crisp DTS sound shakes the house and really puts you in the action. It sounds great on my Onkyo 7.1 system. Character dialog is also well done. Not cheesy at all.

The in-game-movies run great and look amazing. Facial features and expressions are really cool.

The characters really have fun personalities. This is NOT one of those flat feeling games which try to give each character life but fail. This game pulls it off perfectly. I think the AI is great. Probably the best I've ever seen in a game.

The level design is pretty good. Very solid and keeps you wanting to know what is around the next corner. It is the type of game that you have to make yourself stop playing. I'm a huge fan of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Game of the Year and this game ranks pretty close to it.

The fun factor is high. I love playing this game. There is a perfect balance of action, story, and just plain fun game-play. If you own a PS3, do yourself a favor and at least check this out. You won't be sorry.

P.S. Just a suggestion from gamer to gamer, those RealTriggers for your PS3 controller are well worth the $4.99. For a fast paced action game like this, they really come in handy.

Buy Killzone 2 Now

Does this live up to the hype? Yes. Does this game deliver on all fronts? Yes. Is it fun? Oh hell yes.

Killzone 2 tells the story of Alpha squad, who are tasked with taking down Visari, who is a Helghast leader. The game opens up with a speech of him and clips of war-time chaos. The intro is simply perfect, what else can I say? You play as a soldier named Sev, who is part of Alpha squad. You hit the Planet Helgan in a beach invasion, and the game begins.

The first thing you will notice is the Graphics. They are STUNNING. This shows amazing textures, lighting, and animations, all with a little to no lag. Who knew war could look so beautiful?

The sound design is another strong point. Men are dying around you, bullets are hitting your cover, the Helghast and screaming orders to each other. Its simply a treat for the ears.

Cover plays a huge roll in Killzone. If you are up in the middle of combat, you will most likely die. When you press and hold L2, you stick to the surface of your choice. From there, you can lean to pop out and take shots, and then duck back in. It works extremely well.

The Helghast soldiers are simply remarkable. They are a force to be feared. Their attire reminds me of a 1940's Nazi uniform, and they are smart to boot. They take cover, flank, and throw grenades quite frequently.

My only gripe can be adjusted in a few seconds. Do yourself a favor and go into the options and adjust the X and Y axis sensitivity. A grenade indicator would have been nice, but it's perfectly fine without it. But one thing just puzzles me. Why would a game built so firmly around Squad combat not have coop? You usually always have a friendly NPC with you, so this just makes no sense. But like I said, the game is perfectly fine without it.

But where the fatal flaw of Six-axis usually falls into play, Killzone skips right past it in favor of what it was intended for in the first place. Killzone realizes that you don't risk the playability of a game on a gimic, let alone one that might not work, and the game has been created with this thinking in mind. For example, when you would usually press a button to turn a valve, Killzone has you holding the L1 and R1 Trigger (Much like your left and right hands if you will) and continually cranking the controller in a circular motion, all the while letting go to do it again. This is not only very realistic, it doesen't jeapordize gameplay in the slightest, and works so well that it's just plain fun. Other cool features like arming explosives (With the right hand, R1 Button) have you tilting the controller to the left and right. One of my favorites is the sniping, which has you actually holding the controller steady to line up that perfect kill. It works, and I can't really see anybody wanting to turn it off.

The online is frantic fun. It's just simply indescribeable how much time I have spent playing the online portion of Killzone.. and this is the launch day! The gametype is called Warzone, which has every great multiplayer mode you can think of, crammed into one. One minute you will be capturing points, and the next the Helghast (Or ISA) will be calling in an assassination attempt on one of your team mates. It really does keep you moving and constantly alert, but it also makes adjusting to the different game types fast and easy.

If you own a PS3, Killzone should be a part of your collection. Pick this one up, and dive into the chaos.

This game propelled me forward with thunderous excitement from start to finish. Fundamentally similar to other first person shooters like COD4, Black, and Resistance, it may not be the most innovative game in the category but it is absolutely solid. It was a tremendous joy to play; epic in its scale, filled with intricate detail, and highly polished.

Throughout the single-player campaign I destroyed bridges, felled hundreds of enemy soldiers, fought sometimes large and other times lightning fast bosses. While I'd heard that Killzone 2 would be slower and more methodical than the average shooter, I had more trouble getting myself to stop playing than making progress. The game was flexible in its approach to almost every situation. Sometimes I'd snipe enemies from afar, popping their helmets into the air; sometimes I'd rush an enemy and unload a barrage of close quarters fire.

The controls were weighty, never allowing me to jump too quickly from target to target. At first I tried to increase the sensitivity of the joysticks, thinking I'd be able to swivel faster. Because the heft comes more at the end of a motion than throughout the motion, I found that increasing the sensitivity didn't help. I ended up turning the sensitivity back down and simply got used to the experience, which actually felt really good after the initial unfamiliarity passed.

It is the immersive nature of Killzone 2 that makes it really shine. I simply couldn't seem to absorb enough of the detail at any one moment. Over time you feel like you are a part of the world and one with your movements within it. You can feel the grit in the air and the cold metal of your rifle. It was a wonderfully compelling experience that I can't wait to replay.

The story of Killzone 2 was just fine I have no major complaints. It was good enough that I felt grounded in the situations at hand, and I'll be interested in seeing what happens next. That was enough for me.

I've only spent a couple hours on the multiplayer, which feels strong but not incredible. My only complaint is that the multiplayer requires you to play a good number of rounds before you start to unlock new weapons and other classes, like the medic class and the engineer. While this may train a lot of people to play, I would have preferred to jump into more variety sooner than have to earn it. Still, I have high hopes for the continued multiplayer experience, and even if it were completely absent, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this game purely based on the campaign.

I first heard about Killzone 2 about a year or so ago, but never thought too much of it until the past 2 months or so, once all the hype was made. Even then, it still didn't phase me, as hype is hype. I looked into some of the gameplay videos, and some of the behind the scenes videos and became a bit more interested. It wasn't until my friend told me how much he enjoyed the beta that I really realized how quickly I was pulled into the hype of the game. I signed up for a European PSN account to try out the demo, and thought it was good, but very short, and the controls seemed like they would be very difficult to get used to. I decided to go out and pre-order the game and hope for the best.

Once I picked it up, I started by playing the single player campaign for about 2 1/2 hours. I play on the medium setting, so it's not too easy or too hard. Obviously the first thing you notice is how stellar the graphics are. It's like nothing I have ever seen in a video game, and I play a lot of games. Once the gameplay started, I remembered right away what my gripe about the controls were, so I went online and quickly for there are a lot of people with these complaints also, but luckily the settings can be adjusted, making the game a tremendous amount more comfortable to play. Getting back into the action, the next thing I noticed is how intelligent the enemies are. As someone said before, this is one of the first game that you actually get the feeling that the bad guys are real, as they are scared of grenades by them, hide from gunfire, and seem to work together to try and get you. There is constant action, never slows down, and that's not really something you see too often.

Next I got into the multiplayer for an hour or so, and even though I don't completely understand about ranking up and what not yet, I still had a lot of fun exploring the levels, and trying not to get killed, the whole time, getting quite a few kills myself.

So for an initial review, the game is pretty much what everyone said it'd be. Fun, action packed, beautiful, and dark. Reccomended to anyone who enjoys FPS.

*****UPDATE*****

After playing for many more hours and completing 60-70% of the campaign, it is now that I find it fair to consider this one of the best, if not THE BEST, game I have ever played. Every level brings you deeper and deeper into the story. There is constant action, and you will eventually HATE the Helghast. They are relentless, and the AI is top notch. This is one of the first games that the enemies were so smart that they set up ambushes on me, tricked me into going down a corrider where I found out there were more of them waiting for me. All in all, I can't wait to finish the game just so I can play it on the highest difficulty setting, and beat it again.

Multiplayer is great in itslef also. I don;t think the ranking up is as well developed as Call of Duty, but the gameplay is better. There is a ton of ribbons and badges to get that this game will keep you occupied for a VERY long time.

I'm giving this such high ratings because this game cost me less than a cup of coffee to purchase. But aside from the pricepoint it is seriously the most fun I've had with a basketball game since the one I've played on the Dreamcast years ago. It's definitely arcadey so one player on your team can win it for you, but that's the type of game I want. If you want a simulation, then please skip. The graphics are really good even by today's standards. I don't know about any modes since I only play quick match.

This is simply the best basketball sim out there. The graphics are insane, the sixaxis ball control is unimaginable, the game of the week brings you back again and again. Simply playing a game with a friend is in one word FUN. A must buy for any PS3 owner.

This game, MLB the show, and probably Hot shots golf and definately best in their class... Enjoy.

This core game here is very good, however lacking a campaign or franchise mode really hurts the game. Additionally the AI gets predictable over time and you start blowing out the computer.

Not a bad game, but not great either.

Want NBA 08 Discount?

This game has an undeserved bad reputation on the web. Simply, it shouldn't be considered a simulation. The play is more arcade-style. The developer's have obviously spent more focus on 'feel & technique' than 'deep' franchise options. But that doesn't mean weak replay valueevery week you get to download roster updates and challenges. This means that while watching ESPN, if you see a sick NBA play... you might get a chance to recreate the moment yourself through NBA 08. Plus Sony has LeaderBoards for these challenges (and online play, of course). When I bought this game there were 3 of us here. Within 2 hours of purchase we were all yelling at my set and having a great time. Later, motivated, we went out and played some ball of our own. This is THAT type of game. So my final recommendation would be: If you have 1080p/HDMI/HDCP (the graphics amaze),have PS3 online, and commonly play with friends/family, yes get it. Otherwise, I'd hesitate.

Takes some time placing all of it in the proper place, but well worth it in the end. Placing the skin on the controllers was more complicated then the PS3.

Plain and simple. This product is great. This particular item is sold and distributed by Systems Skins. Since this was my first purchase in years, I always wanted to skin my PS3. I ordered this specific skin to match my controllers. First off, the ordering was straight foward. The shipping was provided by USPS which always takes some patience. As soon as I received the shipment, I thoroughly inspected my product. The skin was neatly packaged and heat sealed in protective plastic. I found that installing the skin was quite overwhelming because you dont want to waste a good product if you mess up. But, system skins provided full instructions on how to install it. Included the shipment was their business card with a promo code on the back which they did not provide. I figure if a item is ordered from you that you'd want to entice the customer with discount and promo codes but thats just my insight. Continuing on, I installed the skin carefully and I am very happy with my results despite of one thing. I have a 1st generation ps3 which dont have air vents on the bottom front right side if the ps3 is sitting horizontal. The skin has pre-cut areas for the intended vents. So I had to cut the skin to accommidate for the pre-cut areas, which turned out great. All-in all, ordering from System skins was a great experience. I share this with all of you because my transaction with them was great. Only if they would include a promo code with their business card to order from them again.

If you like to throw away $20 bills then this is the product for you. The application method is horrible, you only get one shot, it tears easily even from simply removing it from the backing, it creases easily, it sticks when you don't want it to, the instructions don't help enough. The only positive thing I can say about this is that it looks cool and is shiny its just too bad you wont be able to fit it on. I have never regretted spending my money on something this bad.

The best thing about this item is the customer service I received. The first set of decals I received was junk. They are very easy to screw up on and are very sticky. Long story short the customer service sent me another set. Once again they were sticky (and yes i read the instructions) and the decals where ruined so i gave up. I also had a friend helping me apply them. waste of money!

That was a complete disaster of the skin. It kept ripping more and more that every time that i put it on my PS3, it was either off track , bubbled up or ripping more.

I bought this last month for a new PS3 system that I bought. This item is made of high quality and picture is as shown.Very rich graphics and it does not leave a mark every time i try to adjust the sticker to get a better fit.The only con that I can say is that it goes past my PS3 edges. Not a big thing.I probably pulled this sticker on and off from the console 4-6 times before I got the right fit and close to no bubbles. One warning if you are going to do this. For some reason I felt that the sticker had started to stretch after the 5th adjustment. Not sure but it just felt like it.It does not leave a mark though.I had it on for 3 weeks then decided to return the PS3 console so when I took off the sticker it left NO MARK on my console.Very good product.I am considering another purchase for my next console.

Own a similar skin for my Wii. Works just as great. Nice gloss. Thick. Not cheaply made. Doesn't scratch as easily or at all as other thin versions. Comes off w/o damaging your system. Wish amazon would carry more of these cause it's cheaper than buying from their website.

Am I happy that Terraria was released on the PS3!

For people who have not heard of this game, it started as an indie game, with a retro graphic style.

This serves 2 purposes:

1. this is a throwback, a tribute to the 8 bit era, when games really flourished.

2. it is to remind us, despite all the flashy technology, that gaming is not about graphics, but gameplay.

You start off choosing things like difficulty, creating your character, etc. then you get started on your adventure in 2D side-scrolling goodness.

I'm not going to spoil it for you guys, but you get to use different items and weapons, different enemies, environments, and also get to meet other players in-game. The official description is: "Terraria is a land of adventure! A land of mystery! A land that's yours to shape, to defend and to enjoy. Your options in Terraria are limitless. Are you an action gamer with an itchy trigger finger? A master builder? A collector? An explorer? There's something for everyone here."

The experience is hard to describe, very much like Minecraft in 2D. It involves a lot of exploration and adventuring, bashing monsters, digging for ore, collecting materials, and assembling items. All I have to say is, you have to try it for yourself. All in a vibrant 2D presentation.

Too bad there is no physical disc for the PS3 US and EU markets, and I was quite disappointed. The trade-off is that the price is lowered. If you really must have the physical copy, this Japanese import version is the way to go.

However, if you are outside of Japan, you can consider the US collector's edition. The game would be DLC, but you get the bonuses which are quite fun to have.

MOVE VS. OTHERS :)

Ever since the launch of Slim, the PS3 has been undertaking a quiet revolution or... could it be the console's midlife crisis? :) Here's what happened recently and I will only note the more important developments going 12 months back (writing this in Oct., 2010):

NetFLIX streaming, now disc-less, 1080p, 5.1 surround sound

Much larger disc (this one is triple the size of the original Slim)

Move

3D gaming

Blu-ray 3D

This is a lot of new 'stuff' for a 4 year old console. I am not going to go into bean-counting mode and compare the PS3 improvements with what we see at the other guys but, clearly there is a lot of life in the PS3 and a lot of what the PS3 has to offer today 3D gaming, Blu-ray 3D either cannot be duplicated or is unlikely to be implemented by other consoles of this generation.

WHAT YOU GET, WHAT YOU MAY NEED

Briefly, this is what you get in with this bundle and I will make it very short because there's a lot of info. at the Amazon page:

PS3 Slim with...

* 320GB HDD as far as I know, the largest hard disk a console has ever had. You CAN upgrade it to a 500GB if you want but 320GB should probably be enough. See PS3 Slim reviews for details and features

* Move controller, of course

* PlayStation Eye camera (must have for the Move to work)

* Sports Champions (Ping Pong is simply awesome, some of the games play much better with a second controller)

* A demo disc so you can see what Move can do for you (most of the demos can be downloaded from the PSN)

DualShock 3 controller (rumble, motion sensitive)

ONE USB wire mostly to charge the controllers

I marked with asterisks the items that come with the bundle are not included in the Slim 160GB package.

Depending on how you are planning to use the PS3, this is what you don't get but may end up buying eventually:

HDMI cable for HD output (a component cable should work too but you can get a decent HDMI for $3-5 or so)

One or more extra USB wires same as above, don't pay more than $2-3 for one

One more Move Controller (some games will either require two controllers or will play better with two)

One or two Navigation Controllers (you can use the DualShock in your left hand but it feels weird)

Dedicated charger, especially if you have more than one Move controller or you also have a Navigation controller

PS3 TV remote controller to use when watching movies

TO BUNDLE OR NOT TO BUNDLE

We got the bundle because we really needed a fresh console but, it turns out, if you already have a PlayStation 3 Eye camera all you need is the stand-alone Move controller to be able to play Move games. If you don't have the Eye then it's going to cost a little more but the general idea is that it's possible to ease yourself into the Move universe and possibly stop if you feel that the Move is not for you. However, if you get yourself hooked, the odds are that you are going to spend A LOT on extras, eventually see above.

THE PS3 BUNDLE VS. OTHER OPTIONS

At the time I'm writing this you can get a Move-less, 160 GB PS3 for $100 less. In my view, it's probably worth buying this bundle even if you do NOT want the Move because you should be able to sell your brand-new Move controller ($49), the PS Eye ($30) and the Sports Champions ($40) game and make close to $100 in the process and you will STILL have a console with TWICE the disc capacity.

MY RATING

This bundle is probably the best PS3 deal ever see my notes on how you could sell the Move stuff if you don't want it and still end up ahead. I've been a PS3 owner ever since the 60GB classic became available and I've been impressed with the PS3's reliability, versatility and its sheer power and I've owned both 'classic' and 'slim' models, upgraded most, gave away a couple. In the end it's a matter of personal taste but the PS3 is increasingly the most popular 'gaming' or 'entertainment' implement in our household. And we DO own an Xbox too.

I will not go through the long list of PS3's features. It would be an exaggeration to say that it does 'everything' but, in my view, it does a lot more than the competition and it's doing it increasingly well. Agreed, features and capabilities do not come for free and sometimes they don't even come cheap (see my list of possible add-ons above) but I can't say that I have the feeling of being constantly nickeled and dimed when I upgrade my PS3. I will have no choice at this time but to order the extra Move and Motion controller from Sony but the charger, the larger discs I used to upgrade my old classic, all of the cables came or will come from third party vendors and even for the old SixAxis and the remote controller there were alternatives at the time I decided to buy the Sony-made ones. In addition, the 'basic' PS3 console can take you pretty far as it is and you can have a lot of fun without having to spend one extra penny.

To conclude, this bundle gets 5 stars:

for being chuck-full of 'stuff' (controllers, game, huge hard disc)

for being the most cost-effective PS3 deal at the time I am writing this (Sep. 17, 2010)

for the PS3 being the most feature-rich, well-balanced console you can get these days

____________________________________________

Aug. 16, 2011 Note:

Quite a lot happened to the PS3 since I posted my review. A week or so ago Netflix became part of a new category named TV/Video Services with Hulu PLUS, Vudu HD Movies, NHL GameCenter Live and MLB.tv. I've had Netflix for quite a while and if Hulu adds a lot of movies show to what I'm getting from Netflix I may say goodbye to my satellite provider. Under the Music tab I can see now Qriocity. I believe there is a 6 months free trial but I'm a Pandora guy so I'm not sure I'll sign up. It's good to know it's there.

Oh and... funny coincidence. I just read that Sony cut $50 of all consoles sold in the US. I paid $499 for my first 60GB PS3 back in 2007 (came with 8 or 10 Blu-ray movies so it wasn't THAT bad a deal) and it's still one of our 2 PS3. Not even a hiccup after 4 years of gaming and movie viewing.
