just Don't buy it, It doesn't work. You'll need a converter box to convert vga to RCA, believe me, that's what I do.

I bought an HD PVR from a friend to do video game commentating and let's plays. To my dismay I found that my TV did not have component in! I noticed it had a VGA port but it wasn't until I saw in the input selections "VGA-Component" did I realize that the manufacturer probably was able to keep the size and cost of the TV down by using the VGA port for two purposes. Though, I was not sure if this cable would work I figured it was inexpensive enough to try. The cable I received was branded Monoprice and it has been my experience they make a good cable. I eventually got everything hooked up and what do you know? It works great! There is a noticeable degradation of image quality compared to HDMI but that is partly because the resolutions are at 1080i and 720p vs 1080p of HDMI, and that most TVs disable any kind of image processing when the VGA port is used. So I do not feel that it is the cable's fault. If anything that will improve my gaming because of reduced input lag!

I will say the title is misleading! Like other reviewers have said this does not work to go from a PC to a TV unless your graphics card supports output in YPbPr or your TV supports RGB through the component. My TV, like many projectors, uses a VGA port for component video rather than 3 separate wires to keep size and cost down so this worked great for me!

After reading reviews I figured for a couple bucks it was worth a shot to see if this product would happen to work. It did not work. I connected it to my laptop and to my TV and got nothing out of it.

This cord is not working!? I have it running from my laptop to my tv and the tv barely read it for a second producing black and white and then stopped responding at all.
