I received two FightPads as a gift in February, 2009 (the month of its release).

Within a few weeks, one FightPad was completely malfunctioninga defective D-Pad (downward direction glitch).

The other FightPad worked OK when used by itself; However, when playing with two FightPads simultaneously, they would interfere with one another and lose their signals (obviously, this is not a good thing to happen during fighting games).

I contacted Mad Catz, via their website. I was assured that it was an issue with the USB donglesMad Catz mailed me two complimentary USB dongles.

The issue continued and became progressively worse.

I once again contacted Mad Catz. This time, they requested I mail the controllers back, along with a receipt, in order to be covered by the 1 year manufacturer's warranty. I explained to Mad Catz that the FightPads were a gift, and that I had no receipt.

I also explained that the controllers were released in February of 2009. It was still the year 2009, so how could the 1 year warranty be over?

Apparently my logic was too much for Mad Catz to handle. They refused to help me without a receipt.

The design of the FightPad is excellent, but the malfunctioning wireless technology is inexcusable.

Furthermore, I am disappointed with the way Mad Catz handled my situation.

I've spent a lot of money on their products throughout the yearsshame on them.

To be honest, I'm not all that familiar with MadCatz products since I've never purchased them before. I'm aware of their reputation, though, and like most people I groaned when it was announced that they were producing the official SF4 controllers.

I've heard a couple of people on other sites talking about their controllers being DOA or having non-responsive diagonals, but I bought one of these for myself and one for a friend and both work pretty well. I will say that mine got stuck in crouch a little bit earlier today, but I wiggled the D-pad and it's been working fine since.

The D-pad has a great feel, and it's much easier to pull off some of the complex motions with this than with the standard PS3 or 360 controller. The D-pad makes all the difference, and this one reminds me a lot of the old ASCII fighting pad that I imported for the Dreamcast so many years ago.

I would definitely recommend this product to fans of the game, but I'm still a little concerned about MadCatz' track record and some of the problems other people seem to be having. This is probably all we're going to get in the way of fightpads, so I guess you make do with what you've got.

The fightpad is alot better than the regular PS3 controller for SFIV. Unfortunately the pad isn't very well made and it broke after only about 2 months. Now I have to spend more money sending this back to the manufacturer getting it repaired. Not very happy since it wasn't a cheap controller and it only lasted 2 months.

The fightpad is great and stands up to abuse like a champ. The first night I had it I split my knuckles open on the front of it, and it was funny, 'cause it made Chun Li look like she had a bloody nose. I felt bad for hitting a woman and let the blood remain as a reminder of my shame. Over time the rage won out over the mortification, and I've smashed that thick-thighed broad right in her smug face more times than I can count. There have also been a barrage of headbutts. She has taken it all, literally, with a smile on her face. My knuckes and forehead are a little worse for the wear, so I guess if it were a straight up fight between me and Chun Li fightpad, she's winning. The battery casing comes off sometimes, so there's that. It's usually only when the fightpad temporarily takes high velocity flight across the room, though.

I have bought 2 and both have gone bad. They act like they are physically stuck in a direction even though nothing is holding it down. One died within 2 days of use and the other last about 3 weeks before it started registering left constantly. It wasn't the receivers either, it was something wrong with the board in the controller. From the sounds of it, there is a 50% chance it will die on you. When it was working it was wonderful it is just a shame they keep dieing on me.
