NOTE: that this review is for the thumbsticks only. I did not test the rest of the buttons that came in the pack.
My dog fancied the thumbsticks on my dualshock controller, so I needed to replace them. There are a few options available on Amazon, but I saw that some buyers had compatibility/size issues causing jerky movements once replaced. I took a gamble with this one (sold by Geniusmods360) and it turned out to be a perfect OEM replacement. Once replaced, I tested with a few games that need extensive thumbstick control and did not experience any degradation or lag in the performance.
CAUTION: Replacing the thumbsticks will require you to rip apart your controller. See user uploaded pictures that I will be posting soon:
1) Be prepared to have a small star screwdriver. There are 5 screws on the back case and an additional screw on the mother board that you will need to unscrew.
2) Ensure that you have discharged any electrostatic energy on you. Some tips: Best not to work on a carpeted floor. Use rubber soled slippers or shoes. Touch a grounded metal object before opening the case so that any residual energy in you is discharged.
3) Disconnect the battery as soon as you open up the back case. For added safety, unplug your PS3 console.
4) Carefully pull up the white supporting pads for the L1 L2 R1 R2 keys and remove the buttons. Note that L2 R2 buttons have small mechanical springs. When mounting back, make sure that one end of the spring is inside the button and the other end is resting on top of the frame to provide spring action.
5) Once the screw on the moterboard is removed, push the white notches holding it and pull out the motherboard.
6) Pull the thumbsticks out (may need some force) and just mount the new ones on the motherboard.
7) Put everything back in the reverse order.
8) And finally, make sure you store it where your dog can't reach it again.
Hope the review and the instructions helped.

The Joysticks were a perfect replacement. I just needed the tips which were torn, but had to replace the entire stick. After you remove the screws, you have to squeeze above the USB port to open the joystick
Buy OEM buttons, D-pad, Start/Back, Thumbstick set for Playstation 3 controller Now
i only needed the thumb sticks and they worked perfectly for me. i didn't try the button so i can't say much about they really.I was going to post pictures of my puppy with the chewed up joysticks on my PS3 controllers... but looks like someone already did that (seriously, what are these things made of and why don't they make dog toys out of it?).Simply put: this is probably the best purchase I've ever made online.
Considering how cheap this things are (4 bucks a set, free 2-day shipping with Amazon Prime) I picked up three sets just to have a spare pack of them around *shoots Saint Bernard pup a sidelong glance*. All I really needed was the thumbsticks, but again, these full packs of replacement buttons are cheap AND are actually meant for the PS3 (compare to some of the other ones on Amazon that are PS2 / PS3... not the same, the thumbsticks are a different length: THESE are for the PS3).
They showed up perfectly on time. And within fifteen minutes I had all my controller's back.
Packaging was great (secure, but not triple-wrapped in NASA tape or something).
All parts present and in perfect condition (no extra flashing still left on the edges of the plastics or anything).
And even included a little contact-info card with a link to a youtube video giving step-by-step instructions.
Better than new? Nope. EXACTLY like new. Can't tell the difference between the ones that got the new parts and the one that the puppy didn't eat. How excellent is that?
From start to finish, this was a perfect transaction... that's never happened to me before.
Want OEM buttons, D-pad, Start/Back, Thumbstick set for Playstation 3 controller Discount?
Got a chewed up SixAxis controller with my old system and decided to keep it to mod. The body is now a metal flake green and with the new buttons, thumbsticks and the Snakebyte triggers it looks better then some of the mods I've seen for $100 and more. Even got the green led earpiece to go with the new scheme.
