Well the controller itself is pretty comfortable and fits my hands much better than the Sony controller. However, after a few days of trying to get it to work, I have yet to do so. The controller will not sync with the receiver it just won't! I am currently in the process of contacting Madcatz's tech support, so we'll see if my controller gets replaced or if I get a refund. I like Madcatz and was excited to give this controller a try, but no luck yet.

If your looking for an extra controller on your PS3 and don't wanna shell out 50 bones for a Sony brand controller, this is the one for you. It's just as effective and reliable as the Sony brand only devoid of a few perks. It needs to have a wireless receiver plugged into the usb slot in order to work and it needs AA batteries to function (although it has a decent battery life span). It's bulkier than the Sony brand, but it works just fine and is ideal for having that extra controller around for multiplayer games.

Defective right out of box. Would not sync to the PS3. Spend the extra ten dollars and buy the Sony controller.

This controller seems to work fine, except that it drains battery like crazy. If you accidentally forget to turn off the controller after you're done playing, most likely when you return the batteries will be drained. Not good if you have kids since they never remember.

This controller worked for about a month and then stopped connecting to the PS3. Tech support from the company is basically non-existent. So save your receipt or spend a little extra to by a real Sony controller.

I love the design, however, I completely misread that it was an adhesive skin that you stick on and peel off of your controller.

first off, its just skin in the form of a sticker. so do expect it to protect your controller from your own stupidity if you drop it. i really like this stuff, but the only reason why i wont give it 5 stars is because it just comes with the front sticker. it does not cover the back of the controller, i didnt know that until it arrived, not a big deal but i just wished they would have said that on the description. overall i will gladly buy a few more of these!

I just picked up the game a little while ago so these are just my first impressions. I'm not going to discuss in depth gameplay or graphics; these things have been covered to death in the past couple of months. So to get it out of the way, it's a great game, especially if you're a batman fan and it looks great on the PS3.

The meat of this review will be focusing on the collector's edition and it's contents.

First off, the box for it is huge! Not obnoxiously huge, but substantial. The case that holds everything is a nice plastic batarang shape with sturdy feeling hinges. They did a good job there. Inside foam pieces keep everything from moving around.

As stated on the message boards, the batarang is in fact plastic and it is attached to the stand, though it doesn't look like it would take much effort to detach it. It looks like there's just a small tab holding it in. I would have been much happier with a metal version, even if it drove the cost up a bit. Also of note, the batarang (at least the one I got) has what appear to scratches all over it. I'm not sure if this is normal, but this is how mine showed up. I'd be interested in hearing how others' batarangs are condition-wise. Also, I was under the impression it was a gray color. It's actually black.

The leather bound book is decent in quality but the pictures make it look more substantial than it actually is. It's actually quite thin. The book inside is nice though, with matte pages and lots of pictures. Great for reading up on arkham's finest criminals.

As for the game package, they really dropped the ball on this one. I was expecting a nice case, like those that come with metroid prime trilogy or resident evil 5. Not so, you get a cheap looking and feeling cardboard outer sleeve and inner sleeve that holds the game and bonus DVD. Again, I'd have gladly paid more for a metal case. Or even just the regular game case with a slip case for the DVD, like the fallout 3 collector's edition. Being a collector in the truest sense, I removed the DVD and game and put them in standard ps3 cases and put the cardboard case back in the box to prevent any damage to it. Cardboard cases for games are extremely primitive in my opinion. They show wear way to easily.

The discs themselves are also non-standard in that they both look like old film reels and are labeled as disc one and two. Again, give me the retail game and the bonus DVD separate. I might just pick up the retail game later on and put the collector's edition back in the box.

All in all, I love the game but feel iffy about the collector's edition contents. If they would have just included the retail game and not the cheap cardboard box and colorless discs I'd probably have been satisfied. As it is now, I don't regret the purchase at all, I just feel a bit let down by the contents. It'll bug me until I buy the retail version of the game and I know it's just more money thrown at the game but I'm extremely anal about keeping my collectibles in pristine condition.

So my verdict:

The game gets a 5/5. It's a great game and even more so if you're a batman fan.

The collector's edition content gets a 3/5 for being average. The game's packaging is what really let me down here.

So the average is 4 stars and my score overall. If I were reviewing just the game it would get 5 stars.

I know this title is pretty much a spin-off of the other review. I just think the differentiation in the gravity of the terms used had to be done. In all fairness, all that you may or may not have read about the game is true: it's an overall excellent gaming experience, a lot of fun and very satisfying for different types of gamers (there's a lot of good fighting, lot's of exploration, trophies and treasures, upgrades which resemble a bit of an RPG customization system, etc.). Even if you are not a big fan of the Batman, if you like video games, you will like this one, and if you ARE a Batman fan, then you will be glad to finally see a well achieved translation from the complex comic book character to a video game (and not a sad Final Fight rip-off where Cody is replaced by Batman[sorry for the retro reference, young readers]). If there were more than five stars to rate this game's fun factor, I'd give'em to it! Now, I will give a detailed comment on each extra item contained in this set in the following paragraphs, but if you don't want to read the whole thing, you can skip directly to the conclusion in the last paragraph.

Now, the sad truth: I purchased the Collector's Edition as an enthusiast of the Batman. However, here in Mexico the normal edition of the game sells for US$69.00, whereas the Collector's Edition sells for a good US$125.00, which is, to me and most non-Donald-Trump-related buyers, a significant difference, which made me look closely into the differences between one edition and the other, in order to determine if the price difference corresponded to the product's value. As a regular Amazon customer, I decided to check here first, and I am sad to say, for the first time, I was mislead by good ol' Amazon =( You see, in the Collector's Edition Page at Amazon, the "Joker Action Maps DLC" is listed under the "PlayStation 3 Batman: Arkham Asylum Collector's Edition Bonus Items Include" list, and upon seeing that, I decided that the Collector's Edition was, by all means, the way to go! However, I was sad to find out TODAY that the Joker's additional content is NOT exclusive to the Collector's Edition, but to the PS3, so either edition of the game will give you access to such additional material!! Now, since my main reason to purchase this edition of the game had been absolutely shattered, below you will find my comments on the rest of this edition's contents, and why they are not even close to a justification of the price difference between the Normal Edition and the Collector's Edition.

As I eagerly unpacked my Collector's edition on Tuesday in my car (Yes, I'm sad to admit I am like a five-year-old when it comes to video games and self control), I was truly disappointed when I saw the Batarang, which is made out of VERY low quality plastic, and looks like it was hand made by yet another five-year-old! Even Fallout 3's Bobble Head figure was of a much better quality (and this is NOT to be interpreted as if said Bobble Head was a quality item either)! You can even see unpolished marks of the cutting tools and sandpaper used in (what I would have thought) was the pre-finish phase in the production of this item. If it at least made it look like a battle worn item, I might be inclined to roll with it and be more lenient in this review, but it really isn't. It just looks and feels like a very, VERY low quality product.

As regards the little "Dr's Journal" accompanying this set, I must start by saying that I have always been a big fan of this kind of extras! To follow on the previous paragraph's reference, I totally loved the Fallout 3 Art Booklet contained in the Collector's Edition, and it actually (along with the "Making Of" Bluray in that kit) washed the bad taste of the badly painted, badly finished Bobble Head off of my mouth (figuratively speaking, of course ;-) Kids, don't put things in your mouth that don't belong there!). However, in this case, although the "Bios" of the characters presented in the Journal are interesting and nicely presented in the form of an Arkham's Dr. point of view, they were all rather short for me, and the fact that they used the exact same illustrations as in the Bios you get to unlock during the game was a true disappointment. Honestly, if the Journal is one of the items that are supposed to provide additional value to the set, at least they could have used other drawings, even from the preparatory stages of the game (as is the case in Fallout 3's Booklet), and not repeat what we already got in the game. This just gives the impression of an abusive and greedy company behind all this, and this is definitely not the impression I want to have when spending over a hundred bucks in anything.

The extra DVD is good if you enjoy (like myself) learning about the work behind the creation of a good game, and seeing how an idea becomes a very good game (which is something we rarely think about as end consumers of all kinds of products in general). However, despite the valuable information contained in this Bluray, again, it hardly suffices to justify such a huge price difference between Collector's Edition and the game alone.

Lastly, the usually overlooked container: The whole thing comes inside a rather large batarang-shaped case, which lid is kept close by little magnets. To be quite honest, I was more inclined to setting this as decoration in my room than the bloody batarang thingy. This may also serve a purpose as a container for whatever it is you like to keep in a container (wouldn't pass as a fresh enough cookie jar, though), but still, it is nothing but a glorified tupper-ware-like item which must have cost less than a Dollar to make. As a marginal note, I must also say I didn't like the fact that the game disc comes in a less-durable, carton sleeve along with the referred DVD, instead of its usual, plastic PS3 case.

So, in Conclusion: Although the game is a Must-Have, the Collector's Edition is a true disappointment, which is not worth the extra money; not even if you are a big fan of the Batman (the contents don't amount to valuable collectibles), nor if you have loads of extra cash to spend (you probably became opulent by spending your money in an intelligent fashion, and this is most certainly not one). As I have tried to establish in this review, I am an enthusiast of this kind of thing, and actually proud to say that I always make good research before purchasing anything (will be more careful when reading Amazon Product Features from now on ;-). This reviews have helped in the past in such research, and I hope this will help you too. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT GAME, BUT THE COLLECTOR'S EDITION IS NOT WORTH A SINGLE EXTRA PENNY! Get the normal edition Batman: Arkham Asylum, get your extra downloadable content for free in the PlayStationStore and use your extra money to buy another game (for instance, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Greatest Hits edition is finally out, and for less than the extra $47 Dollars you'd pay for this, and is also a Must-Have game in my list ;-).

The video shows the unboxing of the PS3 Collectors Edition of Batman Arkham Asylum.

My review. I have completed the game with one play through and am happy to say it's without doubt the Best Batman game ever made!!! It even got into the Guinness book of world records for crying out loud!!!

"Guinness announced this morning Batman: Arkham Asylum has become 'Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever' due to its average Metacritic score of 91.67, surpassing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for Dreamcast which averaged a score of 90."

"We are so pleased to be awarding Batman: Arkham Asylum a Guinness World Record," said Gaz Deaves, Manager at Guinness. "It is a fantastic new game and due to the reaction of gaming experts we believe it has a well deserved place in the Guinness World Records book!"

Gameplay 5/5

The gameplay is smooth and very responsive, whether your beating the crap out of groups of villains or swinging across the room undetected, it just feels like you are Batman! The gadgets add more in-depth gameplay allowing for some unique combos, takedowns and much more! The best and most often used tool in Batman's arsenal is not actually a gadget but a mode called Detectivemode which allows Batman to view the world of Arkham in a whole new way! You can view henchmen's weapons, pulses and view if they are a bigger threat than some of the other inmates, allowing for strategic planning for taking out the heavy hitter's first! The detective mode also allows you to scan the area for potential clues that will lead you to a hostage or villain (depending on the situation)and also scan for The Riddler's infamous Riddles!

Graphics 5/5

The look and presentation of this game is outstanding. Not only did they nail the beefy and serious look for our masked hero but they did a great job on the devious Joker and the overall landscape of Arkham! The other character's in the game are amazing! They're detailed and put into well thought out sketches that resemble ,that of which they came from, the animated cartoon series! When your walking, gliding or fighting in or outside of Arkham you'll notice that the environment changes! It's as if they planned ahead to make sure your not seeing the same old walls or floors every minute.....it's very detailed and I love it!!

Story 5/5

If you have played the demo (if you haven't I'd recommend you do it's very good!) then you pretty much know the idea or plot of the game. Batman captures Joker with ease so Batman is suspicious and Joker breaks loose and takes over the Asylum using all the demented inmates and villains inside to assault Batman with deadly force!! I've seen so many villains it's mind boggling! It's so great to see where they are heading with this and they put huge efforts into thinking like Batman to get it right and from what I've played so far they've nailed it!!!

Overall 5/5 Perfect Score

I just finished the game and am very pleased with the game! The Beginning, Climax and Ending were superb and I don't want to spoil anything for you but.....you'll love how it ends!! I was so excited when I heard Kevin Conroy (the voice of Batman) and Mark Hamill (the voice of Joker) were coming back to reprise their roles from the old cartoon series which I am a huge fan off!! Thanks for watching and reading my review hope it helps and please comment!

Have a great day!!!

Overall, I love the game, and the collector's edition packaging is great. My only problem is the "Batarang" that came with it. from the picture in the description it looks metal, and nothing is said to determine otherwise; especially with the price being what it is. It's plastic, it's has scratches on it, and it just looks cheap. I Know the game costs $60, the book is probably worth [....] there is no way that that Batarang is close to $10 to make up the difference. Overall the collector's edition bundle is kinda lackluster at best. :-/

Buy the regular edition of the game. The game itself is phenomenal.

This collectors edition is not worth the extra money for a crappy plastic batarang.

As of the date of this review, purchasing this bundle is more of a convenience than a great deal. It costs about the same as purchasing the game and controller separately (on Amazon). However, if you're purchasing a PS3 for the first time, this is the perfect game/controller bundle if you're only buying the standard PS3 that doesn't come with an extra controller or any games.

My only complaint that brings down the rating of this product is that this bundle does not come with a USB cord to charge your controller.

HOWEVERthe game itself is a five-star game. It is a PS3 console-specific all-ages game that takes you through adventures in a crazy, creative world. Plus, the Game of the Year edition includes the extra content (levels and outfits for your Sackboy or Sackgirl) for free. There is so much content to be had, including level creation. The art style is whimsical, the narration and music are fun, and the character design is too charming for words. And it should be mentioned that the co-op play is great. I can't wait until my toddler is just a little older so my husband and I can play it with him. I can't say enough great things about the game itself, and look forward to the upcoming sequel.

OVERVIEW

What a bargain! The controller is the official Sony Brand, and is identical in all respects to the one included with your PS3 console. The inclusion of little Big Planet is a nice little bonus. For around 5 dollars more, you get the game, and several add-ons that feature extra goodies. If you can find the bundle, and you need a second controller this is a great buy.

CONTROLLER

The controller included is a black wireless blue tooth controller. IT does not come with a second usb cord for charging. You will have to use the one that came with your console, or perhaps purchase another separately. This is the only minor irritant I can claim about the package, but they do not claim to include it so they are not being deceptive. I simply don't understand why they would not include it. Surely it cannot be that expensive.

GAME

Little Big Planet is a side scrolling action platform game and so much more. The game is visually stimulating, and has a relaxed sort of feel to it. It would be appropriate for all ages, and is a great outlet for the creative gamer of the household. The game allows you the player, to use a variety of shapes, parts, stickers, and other such things to create personalized levels from scratch. Furthermore you can even put these levels up over the Playstation Network for other players to try! The possibilities of what you can create are near endless, and the game should get a lot of life.

If you are purchasing the game for your kids, you will be pleased to know that it is multi-player and supports up to four players at once. This is perfect for siblings or friends. Apart from that the game is appealing to both girls and boys, which also makes it a great buy for those with children, but don't be fooled by the cute look of it. The game has enough depth to be very enjoyable for adults as well!

I already reviewed the Limited Edition of this game but I believe this game is so great I had to review it again. First of all thank heavens for Street Fighter IV. Because of the success of that game, (yeah, go get that one too if you haven't already), the 2-D fighting genre has been revitalized. Anyway, back to the review, there are many elements to BlazBlue that make it such a great fighter. So if you wanna know why I gave this game 5 stars, read on!

First thing is the diverse cast of characters. Each character in BlazBlue plays completely different. In some games, if you've mastered one character, you've mastered half of them. This is not the case here. Aksys accomplishes this with an interesting mechanic called the Drive System. Each character's drive can be performed by simply pressing a button. This simple action opens up a wealth of possibilities. For one character, it enables you to freeze them. Another character's drive allows them to control the wind, giving you further control over your movements and even your projectiles movements. Yet another's character's will drain their opponents life and... well...you get the picture! You WILL find a character you fall in love with! I play mainly with the general who freezes and the kid vampire who controls wind. Which brings me to another point. Not only do the characters play differently they LOOK completely different too. The characters designs are completely over the top, thought not in a way which will repulse you. You do have some insane characters though. There is a scientist whose degenerated into a goo of insects, an asian doctor with huge boobs, a cat girl, and so on. Really the character designers had no problem thinking out of the box.

The second reason I love this game are the fighting mechanics themselves. BlazBlue does a couple of things to further differentiate itself from other games in it's genre. First, there is the combo system. Unlike SFIV, which to me felt like most of the combos were scripted, Blue's combo system encourages expirementation. Each combo relies on a stun value each hit produces. If you can get another move out before the character recovers, then you can create a combo. If you hit a character and create a "counter", which the game will announce, then the stun value is extended even more, letting you create some other combos not otherwise possible. Although there are some bread and butter combos, I was able to come up with some pretty awesome combos on my own, including some which takes more than half damage. I also enjoyed Blue's defense system. Instead of just holding back, you have the option of adding a barrier, which pushes back your opponents from you. You can also hit back at the moment an opponent attacks you. This gives you a shorter recovery time, allowing for some counters. And finally you have the barrier burst. The barrier burst drains all your barrier gauge, but stops any combo and pushes your opponent across the screen. This is very handy for stopping those insanely damaging combos, but leaves you in a "danger" state where you can no longer use your barrier, and you take about 25% more damage for the rest of the match.

The graphics in this game are simply phenomenal, and will appeal to those who appreciate anime and just great art in general. The characters are all high res 2-D sprites and beautifully animated. The backgrounds are combination of 2-D and 3-D and look great. As far as the music, many people have fallen in love with blue's soundtrack but apart from a few numbers, was mostly forgettable for me. As long as it didn't distract from the game, I was good. I did enjoy the sound effects though.

Finally, BlazBlue excels in it's online component. There is occasional lag but this is mostly limited to the introduction of each match. The actual matches themselves are almost flawless. Blue also lets you record your matches, and download other user's matches. A cool thing is that these are not huge video files. I believe it works by the game recording all the controller inputs, and then replaying them, thus effectively recreating the match. I'm not sure if this has been done before but I thought this was pretty clever, since this takes a minimal amount of space in your hard drive.

Wow, I could go on and on and on but I would easily double the length of this review. Blaz has multiple game modes, it looks great, and most importantly, it's just plain fun! Do yourself a favor and buy this game! Highly recommended!

I really love this game. The graphic's are great, the voice acting is great, the onlineplay is great and the story mode is great. There is nothing bad I can say about this game. I play online on this game every day. This game never gets boring to me. I play people online and its very fun. Some of them cheat but I still have fun playing. My favorite characters in this game are Ragna, Noel and Jin. All the characters are Awsome but those are my favorite ones. If you don't have this game go and buy it. It's really worth it.

I loved the Guilty Gear series more than any other fighting game franchise, and this is coming from someone who played Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, Samurai Showdown and others when they first came out, and as each series got a new title. Fighting is one of my two favorite genres of games (the other being puzzle), and even with the likes of Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, Last Blade 2, Capcom vs SNK 2...Guilty Gear X2 is easily my favorite title. So when I found out that BlazBlue was to be the successor of that franchise, I got excited. The graphics were incredible, character designs looked great, gameplay was nearly identical to GG, and it had the same, deep story mode that the later GG games had. What was there to complain about? In short, nothing really, but BlazBlue just makes me wish Guilty Gear X3 had come out instead because of how similar it is.

BlazBlue plays wonderfully, and I was able to get right into the game. You have 4 standard attackslight, medium and heavy attacks, along with the Drive attack. Drive is your main special move attack that can also be used for different regular special attacks (quarter circle motions and all that). It varies for each character, like freezing the opponent, controlling wind, shooting forward, magnetizing the opponent, etc. Barrier Bursts, like the Burst feature from Guilty Gear, are used to get out of tight situations. Say your opponent has you stuck in a huge combouse the Burst and you'll break out of it, shoot them away, and have a chance to recover and get back to the action. Everyone has Distortion Drives too (again, like Overdrives in GG), and some of them are just plain gorgeous to see in motion. Instant Kills are here too, but you can't use them as freely as those in GG. See how similar this game is to Guilty Gear with how much I reference back to it? But the game's fun, and anyone with experience playing fighting games will more than likely love BlazBlue. You also gotta love the characters, like Taokaka, a kind of cat/human hybrid with a wacked out face, that only cares about food and has a great nickname for Litchi. You'll probably spend a couple of hours just enjoying seeing how the characters animate and fight. I know I did.

BlazBlue has a lot of different gameplay modes. You have the regular Arcade mode, where you go through the game as one character, taking out all the others with a little bit of story going on in the process. There's a Story mode that you can play through multiple paths with every character (kind of a Choose Your Own Adventure deal), and you'll need to play through each character's story multiple times in order to get 100%. There's also Score Attack, Training and Replay Theater...but then there's multiplayer. Trust me when I say that it's a thousand times better than the mess that was Guilty Gear X2 #Reload's online mode. You earn experience that ups your rank, and player cards show things like which character the player uses the most and more. I never had any problems with lag during gameplay but there is a little bit right before the match startsthe part when the fighters appear on-screen and when the announcer is saying her usual lines. Everything ran smooth immediately when the match started. And for trophy junkies, there are quite a few for BlazBlue, and a couple are very tricky to get.

So with all the great things in the game, why the 4 star rating? Honestly, this is more of a 4.5 star rating, but I had to round down in this case. BlazBlue is so similar to Guilty Gear, that is almost comes off as a rip-off of the series, despite being made by the same company. Many of the characters here are practically characters from GG but with different designs. Iron Tager = Potemkin, Jin = Ky, Ragna = Sol, Carl = Bridget, Arakune = Eddie, and so on. Heck, even a lot of their moves are nearly the same as their GG counterparts'. I respect them for making a new fighting game franchise, but if they had done things a bit differently, I wouldn't have felt so...well, I don't know how to describe how I feel. Again, don't get me wrong, because I love this game, but it's a little too close to GG for my tastes. But if you never played GG before, then that shouldn't be a problem.

And you know what? There's an upgraded BlazBlue title coming out in a few months, similar to Super Street Fighter 4 being the upgraded version of regular SF4. I'm hearing that it'll come out between July and October, but it's not official still. The game will feature a few more characters, re-balancing the cast, and probably a few more moves for everyone. But while BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is so cheap now, you really should pick it up so you can have a head start on the new version when that comes out. Hopefully if this franchise does well, we can get GGX3...and a true sequel for BlazBlue too :p.

Been playing it for about a week now.

The story mode is lengthy and very in-depth, which is nice for fighting games, as of late. Very high replay value. Each character is wholly unique from the others, creating a unique style of play with each time you pick up the controller.

The two-dimensional gameplay doesn't detract at all after so many fighting games played in 3-D, especially due to the uniqueness of the style and controls inherent in the game. The sprites look fantastic, and there are intricate designs and actions in each character (such as comments they make specific to other enemies during battle) that really help bring out the character's personalities.

HIGHLY recommended. I believe that, once I get the platinum trophy for this one, I'll be purchasing the sequel, even though some critiques of it make it out to be just another rendition of this game with two new characters. I simply think the game is THAT good, and cannot wait for the next full sequel.

This game is incredibly fun and rewarding if you take the time to master your character, will not go much into depth as the other reviews, but i will point one thing out the other reviewers left out, the online. Be prepared to get your ass handed to you as most of the players online just use 3 characters that are kinda unbalanced and cheap. One of them is a robot girl named V-13 which you can learn easily and just spam 3 moves over and over and over again, which is really annoying and really ruins the game for me sometimes because i have to resort to using a cheap character as well just to beat that character. I know I will be bashed for this but think about it, can you really beat v-13 or noel with hakumen?? I really like to see that, well anyways if you tend to play on a regular basis you will be okay, you been warned.

The way I see the Tony Hawk series is like this: from THPS to THUG 2, Neversoft was running a marathon, and they were doing really well, too. Then, in 2005, Neversoft tripped by making American Wasteland, which wasn't necessarily a bad game, it just wasn't nearly as good as the others. Now, the eighth installment in the series has come, and I have to admit I'm a little disappointed. At E3, they said that Tony Hawk's Project 8 would be returning to the roots of the Tony Hawk series, and I interpreted that to mean that it would be like a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5. I bought the game and played it. The graphics weren't as good as I expected, but they didn't suck. Overall, Neversoft could have done a bit more polish on this game, and it's definitely not worth $600, but it's a solid entry in the series, and anybody who has been a TH fan since the beginning should give it a whirl.

Ok, first off I have TH3, TH:Underground, TH:AWL all for the PS2. I was impressed by American Waste Lands amount of content and levels. Project 8 doesn't have as much content (No level building or real character creation), but what it serves out it well worth it. They revamped the system and that takes developement time. The open-end game play on the PS3 is sweet. I played the game on the PS2, but was not impressed and didn't think I'd get it due to the lack of content. I purchased a PS3 and was limited to option so I purchased Project 8 and to be able to skate from the residential district to the skatepark to the school and then to the city busting out tricks all along the way is sweet and provides a new experience to Skateboarding on consoles. You can just go on forever. After this I can't wait to see what comes next. If for the Xbox360 or the PS3 the game is well worth it.

I have been playing the Tony Hawk games since the first one on Playstation. I however, stopped keeping up after THUG came out. Recently I purchased a PS3, and wanted a newer THPS game. I ended up choosing Project 8, because of the price and people didn't seem to like Proving Ground. I was horribly disappointed with this game. First of all, you can't disable auto-kick, which is a huge let down for anyone who actually skates. Also, the semi-realistic scaling achieved in THUG, has seem to disappear completely. Second, they removed some of the most iconic skaters from the game, THPS without Reynolds, gimme a break. Third, the game is rated T for teen, but game play seems to have been created with children in mind. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone who skates, or is over the age of 12.

This is a great game and you can get it for an unbeatable price on Amazon. I have been addicted to it for a few weeks now and cant stop. The "Nail a Trick" aspect is awesome and the different areas of the game have incredible detail. The goals are challenging but doable. The graphics of the characters in the goal minivideos could be better but thats not why im playing the game and you shouldn't be playing for that either. Classic THPS gameplay that doesnt disappoint.

Want Tony Hawk's Project 8 Discount?

Tony Hawk's Project 8 tries to go back to the basics of what made the first games so likable, while still keeping a "story" for those who thought that was a good addition. The game has a simple story, the "classic" goals as well as tons of others, and is just plain fun to play. In holding true to the Tony Hawk's series you can string together tons and tons of tricks and there are even a few new ones that you haven't been able to do in previous games to rack up points, to complete goals, to eventually become one of the top 8 skaters and join Tony Hawk's new crew. This game is fun to play, has great graphics, and was worth the $19.99 price. If your a fan of the other games, you will like this one too.

I ran into a few problems with the Ion Drum Rocker right out of the box.

First off, the sensitivity of the cymbals are about 65-75% of where they should be. If you're at an expert level, you'll definitely see the difference when you're hitting drum rolls on the high hat (middle of Everlong, YYZ, etc.). Second, you have to hit the cymbal a little harder than usual, which increases arm fatigue. Third, the cymbals are quite loud (not as loud as the RB1 drums, but damn near) in comparison to the tom toms. You can purchase aftermarket cymbals (several available for purchase online & amazon.com!) that would work extremely better.

The bass pedal is also an issue. Sturdy, but it is prone to sticking at the bottom. The pedal is also prone to static issues which cause the entire drum set to disconnect (

Also, my drum module was triggering buttons sporatically (due to a manufacturer defect), but a replacement from amazon.com is on the way to my home.

In conclusion, the Ion Drum Rocker could've been a great drum set, but there were a few quirks that keeps it from greatness. You can get replacements for your cymbals($40-50 a piece) and also the Rock Pedal(great buy for your aspiring fake drum career :D); but it retrospect, you shouldn't have to spend money to upgrade equipment after just spending bucks. Do your research!!!

I ordered these on December 9th (in the evening) and thanks to a free trial of Amazon Prime, I got it shipped next day for just $3.99. Anyway I received them today and......WOW!!!! This peripheral single-handedly has made Rock Band FUN again!!! It's a completely different experience than the standard drum kit. The symbols add a level of realism that could not come close to being achieved with the standard kit. There is a learning curve, as the symbols will confuse you at times (when to hit them vs when to use the regular pads,) but it's fun figuring it out! The kick pedal is very good (way better than the one that comes with Rock Band and Rock Band 2, but not as good as the Omega Pedal.) It does take a while, took me about 30 minutes, to set up out of the box. There are wires going everywhere, one from each drum pad/symbol, to a central hub but you can zip-tie the cords up so it doesn't look like a rats nest. The kit can be set up to your liking as all the drum pads and the symbols are move-able. The pads themselves are more quiet and give more "bounce" than the rock band kit as well. Over all this is a very good drum kit, I have been playing Rock Band for almost 1 year, got to the point where I could play about 1/2 of the 250+ songs on expert so I have put a lot of time in on the old kit. I love the Drum Rocker and am looking forward to hours and hours of fun using it!!! The BEST kit on the market for playing Rock Band/Guitar Hero World Tour!

In a nutshell, this is a fantastic electronic drum kit for Rock Band. It's worth picking up if you have skill and the drums and want to advance to the next level.

Some notes before starting out:

When I compare the Ion Drum Rocker to the standard Rock Band kit, I am referring to the original R.B. drum kit, not the R.B.2 kit

I have the Rock Pedal (which works for this kit with a simple 1/8 to 1/4 adapter) and will not discuss the pedal that comes with this kit (though it seems more responsive than the standard pedal)

I have been a "Rock Band drummer" for about 10 months, and can play roughly 75% of the songs on Expert

Let me explain some specifics about this kit via a pros/cons list:

PROS

1) Drum pad placement. Lots of flexibility to move drums pads around--change the angle, height, and placement on the bar. You can set the four pads to wherever is most comfortable for you. The L-shaped rod under each pad gives you some flexibility in height.

2) Noise reduction. The drum pads are much quieter than the standard Rock Band kit. (There are some YouTube videos that demonstrate this, and it is a noticeable difference.)

3) Sensitive pads. The drum pads are velocity sensitive and also have more 'bounce' to them than the standard kit.

4) Easy adjustments. The kit comes with a drum key (an allen wrench, really) that lets you make every adjustment that needs to be made.

5) Cymbals. Come on, you really want this to have the cymbals, right? :> The cymbals are also quiet and really add to your enjoyment when playing. It also makes you focus more closely on what's going on in the music (not just blinding hitting the blue pad without noticing whether you're hitting a tom or a ride cymbal).

CONS

1) Cymbal placement. Well, it's okay, but you're a bit more limited when it comes to placement and angle. The kit comes with a short (~12") bar and a longer (~24"-30") bar, so you have some flexibility in height. The drums give you more freedom of placement.

2) Ships with two cymbals. You can order the third for $50, though.

3) No option for a fourth, or "red" cymbal. Some songs ("Run to the Hills" or "Rio" amongst others) have you hit the red pad as a cymbal, but there's no option to plug a cymbal into a "red" input. Not a huge problem, just a tad annoying (I'm actually more annoyed at the RB programmers for ever turning the red snare drum into a cymbal!).

4) Bigger/Bulkier than the original RB kit. Or maybe this is a con. :> It's not too much bigger, but it is heavier and a little trickier to move.

As a sidenote, I have not had any problems with the cymbals dropping 'fast' notes (mine are set to Ride/Blue and Crash/Green currently, so I haven't tried the Hi-Hat/Yellow).

Overall, the pros vastly outweigh the cons. These seem to be very high-quality drums, and it adds to the challenge of drumming when you have to differentiate between cymbals and toms when you're playing! If you are really into Rock Band drumming, I highly recommend this kit.

I was beginning to think I was the only one, but I have begun to see more and more comments about other peoples problems with ION customer service and the drum kit... here goes mine.

I got the Ion DrumRocker for PS3 which didn't get released until December. I picked it up the first day it was available, only to have the bracket on the Red drumpad break when tightening, since it is only cheap plastic (again, something meant to be hit hard with a stick should be better constructed). This was not due to over-tightening as the customer service guy tried to suggest since I tightened all of my pads the same way and only had this one break. In addition, both of the cymbals were only registering 50-70% of the time and only when hit VERY hard. I went online and filled out the only form I could find for customer service and didn't get a call within two days. I did more searching and finally found a number (not toll free) to call. When I called, they acted like they were doing ME a favor by allowing me to return the product. They said they were going to send a UPS shipping label by email and that I would get it in two days. Two days later, no shipping label, so I called again, they said they would resend it. Two more days, no label, called again, said they would try a different email address. Two more days, no label. Now they say they will print out a label and send it to me by mail. This went on past through Christmas, and into January and I still did not have a shipping label. Finally, mid-January, after talking to 10 different people and spending hours on the phone, I finally have a label. I send it in and cross my fingers. Three weeks go by and I have not heard anything. I call. They I give them the RA# and serial# of my drum set and my name. They tell me that unless I have the Tracking number of the package, they can't tell me what's going on with my repair. Remember now... THEY printed the shipping label... THEY issued the RA#... and now THEY have no idea what's going on with MY merchandise!! I ask to speak with a manager and after arguing with the guy he transfers me to a voice mail service, so I leave a message and ask for a call back..... Any guesses if I got a call back? One week later (now nearly the end of February, two and a half months after the set was broken) I call again and demand that someone find out where my merchandise is. The guy finally tells me that there's a backlog of repairs and that they did receive my broken parts, but that I wouldn't get replacements until late March or early April -FOUR to FIVE MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED AND REPORTED THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT!!!!! I voiced my frustration saying that I'm sure they are filling new orders for drum kits that were placed well after my repair was requested and meanwhile those of us with problems are left out our $300 and without a working product. He tells me a sob story (which I'm sure is a lie) about how he bought a drum rocker kit for his daughter for christmas and it was broken and he still doesn't have a replacement and his daughters ask him every day why santa brought them a broken toy.... oh, woe is me... my poor deprived imaginary daughter without her drumrocker... whatever will I do?

Just when you thought it was over... I decided to use the Ion Drumrocker kick pedal with my stock RockBand kit using an adapter (I like the DrumRocker pedal better) and within 4 songs, the trigger switch in the pedal broke (the same problem described in the first post). Now I've gotten another RA# and shipped off another part from my ION kit, probably not to be seen for another 5 months.....

This review may get too detailed for the average user, but if you're like me, you want to know everything there is to know.

The first thing I need to mention is that the static issue is a serious problem. While playing on carpet, eventually static builds up and causes the Ion's module to disconnect with PS3 halting your fun mid-song. This can happen several times each song. Check the internet there are some solutions to isolate the pedal and stand by using fabric softener sheets lol! Luckily I accidentally stumbled upon the BEST way to fix this problem. Take an extra 1/4" patch cord, plug one end into the Ion module and let the other end dangle on the carpet. This will ground the module and there will be no way for any static to build up and discharge. Once I discovered this trick, I never lost connection again.

For a Rock Band replacement drum set, this set is AWESOME. If you're already good at RB, these will make you even better. If you don't get 100% accuracy at the end of a song, it's NOT the drums' fault, is YOUR fault. The responsiveness of the drum pads is pure heaven. They bounce back and make drum rolls a breeze. They are nice and quiet for small home or apartment use. The stand is very sturdy and excellent quality. Everything is easily adjustable to put the pads where you like. It's true what others wrote about portability. Tear-down and set up is not easy. Luckily I have space in my house and everything stays together and simply moved to the corner.

Bass pedal very mediocre. I started with Guitar Hero and quickly upgraded to a much higher quality kicker and loved it, so I don't like the pedal style at all. It is playable, but you may want to upgrade. If you do, be careful because although the Ions advertise that you'll be ready to move up to professional electronic drumming at any time because their drums are just like real electronic drums that's not entirely true. Although their pads are like real e-drums, the bass pedal is not. Ion's bass pedal is digital in other words on or off. And that's the signal the Ion's drum module is expecting. If you upgrade to a real bass drum kicker, it puts out an analog signal basically identical to the rest of the pads in this kit. But the Ion module cannot read an analog signal for this input. You'll need to buy a small device that converts the signal.

Cymbals here I can't give as good of a review. The cymbals sound like you're hitting a block of wood and the responsiveness isn't great. They're only moderately fun to play on and they're too loud, but that's not the real let down. I'm a Guitar Hero player 1st, and a Rock Band player 2nd, so if you like to play both, read on. I closely checked all the compatibility charts for GH and RB games, and every recent game supported Ion's drums. I mistakenly thought that the Ion drums would act just like the Guitar Hero World Tour drums (or Band Hero drums). They don't. The GH games will "dumb down" to only 4 lanes of drums just like you were playing RB. This was a huge disappointment to me because I like the added difficulty and realism of playing 5 drums plus a bass pedal as opposed to RB's 4 drums plus bass. The Ion drum module (the "brain") appears to have 8 inputs (1 bass pedal and 7 "drum" inputs). This is NOT the case for GH games. The module really only has 5 inputs: 1 bass pedal and 4 drums. The other 3 inputs are merely duplicates of 3 of the existing drums. They are simply wired in parallel so that a drum (or cymbal) hooked to either input produces exactly the same result. Conversely, in RB2 the cymbals do make a different sound during fills and in freestyle mode. A good thing is that in RB3, the Ions support the pro mode which means the cymbals are differentiated from the pads and you have to play the correct one. If you want to play on more realistic feeling cymbals, I recommend buying Ion's basic drum package and adding other cymbals that are more playable. Either way, there is no way to make GH work with 5 lanes unless you want to buy some extra and/or modded equipment. If you do, read on.

There are ways to play Guitar Hero games with 5 lanes as it was meant to be played, but you have to use extra equipment. There are forums out there to give all the details, but I'll sum it up quickly. You can use a real drum module from a set of real electronic drums by completely bypassing Ion's module. You plug the drums directly into the real drum module, then use the MIDI out from the drum module to the MIDI in on your Guitar Hero drums. If you've thrown out your GH drums, you can buy just the modules (and/or the wireless dongles) on internet auction sites. Do your homework before actually buying a real drum module because the module will need to have reprogrammable MIDI channels so that the GH module gets the correct signal. If the MIDI notes cannot be reprogrammed, you'll need yet another piece of hardware that is made strictly to re-map MIDI notes.

The second way is to just get the MIDI box that accepts drum pad signals, and outputs (re-programmable) MIDI signals. These boxes are much cheaper than true drum modules because they aren't capable of outputting any sounds, only MIDI signals.

The third way is to buy a modded Guitar Hero drum module or mod one yourself. You can make the stock GH drum module accept input from the Ion's drum pads by putting 1/4" female jacks on the GH module and connecting them internally. Check forums for how to do this correctly.

Be warned that if you do use the Ion's to play GH, you CAN'T use Ion's bass pedal because it's digital. You'll have to use GH's stock pedal or some upgrade that's like a real kicker with an analog signal. Also be warned that Ion's drum pads output a VERY strong analog signal and can be too sensitive when used with a modded GH module. You can download a program to adjust the sensitivity of the GH module, but I've found that even at the absolute lowest setting, the pads are still too sensitive and you get false hits from vibrations from other pads. This can be fixed by attenuating each of the signals by using resistors, but that's even more modding!

The final part of this review is to talk about the most fun part to me. You can get rid of Ion's drum module and connect your Ion drums into a real electronic drum module and play along with either GH or RB. This can be done in practice mode, but if you want a real thrill, you can make it work inside a real game too. If you can program your drum module to re-map the MIDI notes, you can take the drum module's MIDI output and put it into Guitar Hero's MIDI input. Now your drums will register inside the game. You can then turn the volume down on the video game's drum track and then turn the volume up on your drums' amp or however you play your real electronic drums. Warning!!! This will make you realize how difficult it really is to drum. The video games have a (relatively) HUGE margin of error where you can strike a drum too early or too late and the music still plays perfectly. With this setup now the drums play exactly when you hit them. This is an extremely fun time. Even better is that you can keep adding more drums (like more cymbals and more toms) and map different drums to same colors making your drums still register in the game. It becomes much more like real drums.

If you're like me and spend too much on this type of video game, I have another suggestion for you. If you think you'll keep upgrading drums or adding lots of stuff, you'll be way ahead of the game if you just start with a real set of electronic drums. You can get basic kits for $500-$1000. I know it sounds like a lot, but trust me if you start with Ion's drums and keep upgrading and adding stuff you'll end up spending much more in the long run. Just realize that you're spending this money on a stand and 4 pads. The Ion module will become useless and the so will the cymbals when you upgrade. If you're going to stay with Rock Band and not go to real e-drums, this kit is awesome, but like I said before, skip the cymbals.

My review simply covers the Collector's Edition of Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

This edition was carried by GameStop stores. When I wandered in to pick up my copy of Ninja Gaiden Sigma, the guy behind the counter suggested I get the Collector's Edition.

Me: "Why shouldn't I just get the regular version?"

Store employee: "There's an extra DVD with hidden codes, and you get to see how the game was made!"

With that endorsement, I shelled out my extra ten bucks.

On the DVD, I saw a number of gaming developers. They discussed certain improvements, the advantages of the Playstation 3's storage capacity for graphics compression, and their staunch refusal to make the game easier than the Ninja Gaiden Black version on the Xbox. I loved the visit to the Asakusa Temple in Tokyo, though this only lasted about 2 minutes. I couldn't wait to see behind the scenes of how the game itself was made.

Unfortunately, almost halfway through the DVD, one developer, Hayashi-San, pretty much said that Team Ninja isn't the type of company to show exactly how a game is made...they prefer to not do this because "that could be an excuse as to why the game isn't the way it should be."

Okay....so this TOTALLY contradicted what I was told.

The majority of the DVD is spent watching various members of Team Ninja talking in vague terms about the future, going to karaoke bars, playing electric guitars, that kind of thing. I felt like I got duped into watching an episode of "The Real World" set in Japan!

So what about the secret codes?

Well, there is a hidden code (not codes) hidden throughout the DVD, which can be used to unlock a few hidden missions in the game.

Now, The Ninja Gaiden Black version has more costumes and allows the player to access the original Ninja Gaiden game. I would have expected this content to be included in the Collector's Edition, but alas, it was still absent.

So what did I really got out of this "Collector's Edition"? A code which I could have found on the internet for free.

Let the buyer beware!

I'm not sure if this is a review of amazon's service or the actual game, but I will give a brief summary of both. The service was awesome! Product arrived on time was in the exact condition the seller had described. The original remake of Ninja Gaiden came out in 2003 followed shortly by the Hurricane packs that served as downloadable mission modes to feed those wanting more intense Ninja action. Ninja Gaiden Black was soon released in 2004 and was the ultimate version of Ninja Gaiden on the xbox (These dates may not be correct). In 2007 Team Ninja released Ninja Gaiden Sigma on the PS3, and having played it before I purchased a copy from amazon and again after I received it, I will say with confidence that NGS for the PS3 is the Ultimate version of Ninja Gaiden and one of,if not, the best action games of all time. To check out what Ninja Gaiden Sigma is all about head over to youtube and check out gameplay videos; in the meantime, look forward to the release of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 later this year.

I bought this because it was cheap. At first it was uncomfortable, but then I realized i could adjust the ear hanger, and then it was nice. I guess so you could put it on either ear. I like how it plugs right into a USB port instead of needing a charging cable.

I purchased this headset at a local store and it did not work. Returned it and got a new one which also would not work. Neither one would charge. I tried to charge both of them with the USB on my playstation, computer, and wall charger with no luck on any of them following the directions precisely. I would never buy a product made by this company again.

Shortly after hooking up the headset I noticed that swinging the boom up and down would cause the mic to cut out and lose connection. After grabbing the screw driver and opening it up I was able to position the wires such that they didn't contact themselves. This solved the problem, but doesn't reflect well on the quality of the product.

Once I had it working correctly, it worked as advertised. The microphone mute button is nice as well as the on headset volume and mute controls. The only other complaint I would have would be the background buzzing. There is a low pitch buzzing when the headset is on which changes to a higher pitch when the mic is muted. The buzzing isn't very loud and can easily be ignored. It may have something to do with the wires in close proximity within the ear piece. I just don't want to have to open it up again to try and fix it.

Overall I rated this product 3/5. It would be a 4/5 based on how the headset is currently working for me, but I had to knock off another point based on the initial problem with the wires.

I've only played this on the PS3, as that's the only console I have. I'm in my mid-40s, and have tried to learn guitar off and on for the last 4 years. I've bought books, and courses, and downloaded tabs from the web, and watched videos, and while I've learned some scales and lots of chords and even memorized some guitar solos, the mechanics of playing have just never come to me. It's always frustrated me to know that despite all the chords and scales and tabs I've learned, if I were in a group around a campfire and the group asked for someone to strum guitar, I wouldn't volunteer because I just don't sound good when I play. I know that mechanically, it's just not there, and having 100 chords memorized doesn't help when you're constantly fighting with the guitar because your fingers are never in the right place and you never seem to land on the right fret. I think my big problem is that I never really learned how to play without looking down at the fretboard, and if I don't look, I'm lost. Books and videos can be read or viewed slowly, or paused, and they don't force you to learn without looking down.

I've now been playing Rocksmith for 4-5 days, and already I can tell that I've improved in this area, and the reason is so simple: you're forced to keep your eyes on the video screen, so you can't look down, and your hands have to learn how to find the 5th position (5th fret) without looking, and how to find the D string without looking, and how to slide from the 17th fret down to the 10th fret without looking. The challenge games, like shooting the cartoon birds, or practicing slides from all over the fretboard, actually work because they repeatedly force you to play without looking down. That may sound like such a simple thing, not looking down, but for me (and maybe lots of other people?) it means the difference between just noodling with the guitar and actually playing the guitar.

The song selection had me hesitant at first many of the songs I'd never even heard of but the reviews are right....it's easy to enjoy all the songs because each of them is catchy in their own way, and each poses a particular playing challenge.

It's is a challenging game, at least for me, and I still have plenty of moments where I reach for the controller to hit pause just to give my hands a rest, or to get mad at myself because I messed up a progression I think I should have nailed, so my advice to beginners is to take your time and just relax and let it come very slowly. Forget about how all those instruction videos make playing guitar look so easy I don't think it is easy, and it takes work, and hundreds (or thousands) of hours of practice over time to truly learn guitar. So you're probably not going to be playing the solo to "Sweet Child O' Mine" by week 2. But you will be playing, and making actual music, and for someone like me who has never gotten over the hump and never gone from a tinkerer to a player, this game might be the best $80 I've spent on any video game, and it may be the best learning tool I've ever come across. I wish I'd had it 4 years ago, but I'm glad I have it now, and I can't wait to see how much better I'll be playing in a few months. It's very exciting to feel like I'm finally getting over the hump, and that learning guitar may not be impossible after all.

Click Here to Read More Reviews >>

I've been picking up (and putting down) the guitar for over 25 years now. I've tried everything: human instructors, online video lessons, self-practice using downloaded tablature...nothing has gotten me "over the hump" to the point I stuck with it and became proficient. After only about 3 hours of play, I can tell that Rocksmith is going to change all of that. It's a blast (while challenging) and I'm confident this really will keep me playing. Tired of your kids spending countless hours doing mindless button mashing? This is the "game" for you. While I've really enjoyed mashing buttons in Rock Band and Guitar Hero, I always wished I had actually been learning to play actual instruments. The drums come the closest, but the guitar is ultimately silly. Fun yes, but completely non-educational.

The ability of Rocksmith to adjust the difficulty of the song "on the fly" as you play is a revolution. I never feel completely overwhelmed, just always at the edge of my ability. It keeps you motivated without getting discouraging.

My only regret about Rocksmith is that it wasn't available 25 years ago. A crying shame, really.

Kudos to Ubisoft for a fantastic tool, and may it find all the commercial success it needs to provide DLC for many years to come. Thanks Ubisoft for creating the guitar game I've always wished for.

Worth every penny and more.

Before getting into my review, here is an important tip:

AUDIO LAG!!! If you are experiencing audio lag, the problem is the HDMI cable. You need to run the audio from the RCA (red and white) cables through the tv, headphones, or an external stereo/surround sound system. Doing so will fix the annoying audio lag problem I'm sure most people will experience. So if you buy the game, don't forget about this tip!

UPDATE:

FROM MY EXPERIENCE, THE HDMI CABLE WASN'T THE ISSUE, THE TV WAS! I have played the game on two tvs and I have used two different cables. The first tv I played on has bad lag, and I can't seem to find any settings to fix it. However, on my tv at home, I can play with an HDMI cable without any problems. If you have lag on your tv, try turning off any special features in your tv settings. If that doesn't work, use the RCA cables as described earlier in my review.

Here is a little background about myself to support my experience playing the game:

I am a musician and I've played guitar for a number of years. However, I've always played basic rhythm guitar. I never got around to learning scales, solos, power chords, ect... only regular chords for rhythm.

Now for the game. I have only played it for about 2 hours so far, and I am really enjoying the experience. I'm a pretty busy person, and I often feel guilty when playing video games because even though I do enjoy playing, I feel like it eats up time I could use for more productive activities. Finally, I have a game that I don't have to feel bad about playing for hours on end! I am a worship leader at a church, so guitar is part of my job. Not only is this game fun to play, but I can see how it is going to help my abilities on guitar grow tremendously! The interface is similar to Rockband or Guitar Hero, but the developers did a superb job at modifying the familier interface to work well with a real guitar. It may feel awkward at first, but stick with it, and you will get it. After a few songs, I felt like I was playing Guitar Hero, and it was mind boggling to think I was playing a real guitar. Considering I already have experience playing, the game felt oversimplified starting out, but it was still worth playing to get a feel for the interface. It didn't take long for the game to start getting a little challenging. The game adjusts on the fly to how well you are playing, so don't worry what level player you are. If you have never played guitar before, it will keep things simple for you. If you are an expert on guitar, it may take a little longer, but it will adjust to your skill level. There is so much to say about the game, but I'm limited on time. I just wanted to get a quick review out for anyone considering the game so that you can know this is a game worth buying. If you have any desire to learn or improve on guitar, BUY THIS GAME!! If you have a hard time getting motivated to practice your guitar, BUY THIS GAME!!! If you loved the Rockband and Guitar Hero games, then BUY THIS GAME and quit waisting your time on a plastic toy!!!

UPDATE: Safety Concern

Something to be careful about that the game doesn't monitor is correct technique. You can easily get sloppy when trying to sightread the game interface, and doing so can damage your hand/wrist. If your hand starts hurting, take a break, and make sure your technique is good. I pushed myself to extended periods playing bar-chords incorrectly, and I started getting sharp pains in my wrist and hands. I'd find it hurting later in the day simply driving my car, and I was concerned of getting carpel tunnel. Now I do a couple scale warmups before playing, and I try to stop if my hand starts hurting.

UPDATE: 5-1-2012

I haven't played this game in a while, and I decided to pull it back out. I downloaded the latest patch, and I'm really happy for the updates!

So far what I've noticed:

1) The Sony wireless headset now works! Part of the reason I quit playing the game is because I now use a monitor without speakers, and a headset is my only audio source. For a while, the Sony headset and the guitar cable could not work together. This is no longer an issue!

2)I hated that you could not set the difficulty level of the game in riff repeater mode. It would make you practice at an easier level, and when you passed it, it would bump up a level. The problem with this is that you had to relearn the riff every time. Now, you have the option to jump the difficulty all the way up. Doing this in the mode that slows down the music allows you to memorize the actual guitar part (rather than relearning dumb down versions).

3) Another thing I didn't like about riff mode was that you only got 5 tries. Now, if I'm remembering correctly, you get 30 tries. These additions to riff mode make this game just about perfect for practicing guitar.

4) Precision Tuning The basic tuning will say the guitar is in tune even if it's slightly out. Although it's not perfect, choosing to use the precision tuning option makes it easier to get perfect pitch.

I'm excited to see that the company is listening to feedback and improving the game without charging money for a new version. There are plenty of songs to build my skills, they have a decent amount of dlc out if I get bored, and I'm sure I'll get Rocksmith 2 if they ever release one!

UPDATE 8-22-2012

The game now supports bass for all of the songs! If you buy this edition (or already have it), you have to pay $30 for the bass DLC. If you don't already have this game, you might want to consider buying the new edition that includes both guitar and bass. Depending on when you read this review, Aamazon says the new version comes out (or came out) October 16th, 2012. I purchased the DLC, and I think they did a great job with it. Most songs are pretty easy compared to guitar, but that's not the game's fault. The bass parts just tend to be easy for a lot of songs! If you have any interest in playing bass (or know someone who does) it should be a no brainer! You can also plug a guitar and bass in at the same time and play with a friend if you have an additional USB to 1/4 cable.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I own a Fender Washburn Stratocaster. I threw this disc in, hooked up the guitar, and held my breath. Would the nay-sayers of "latency / too many A/V setups" win out the day?

The answer is a resounding NO. I play a note and there is no noticeable delay whatsoever. My A/V system has become my amp (and oh, what an amp with a Pioneer Elite to back it up).

Rocksmith, first and foremost, is an INSTRUCTOR, not a social party. If you're looking for social party gaming like Rock Band, look elsewhere. Rocksmith is intended to have you learn how to play guitar, straight and simple. The game starts off with a sound check to calibrate the volume of your guitar and, more incredibly still, to TUNE YOUR GUITAR. And it's a surprisingly good tuner at that.

Once your guitar's in tune, the game eagerly throws you into the Rolling Stone's "I Can't Get No Satisfaction."

"What difficulty should I play?" you might ask. Ah, that's where the beauty of Rocksmith comes in. Rocksmith will ramp the difficulty up or down depending on how well you play. Are you nailing every single note coming down the strum highway? Well, here come a few more! Ooops, you're missing just about every single note? Rocksmith will ramp it down. There's no "failing" here...Rocksmith will rewards you with the points that you rightfully earn for playing notes correctly. If you play more notes correctly, you earn more currency to unlock more portions of the game. If not, then you're not really ready for some of the other challenges...so stop punishing yourself. : Rocksmith wisely uses the point system to ensure that you're ready to tackle the challenges that you're capable of taking on.

And it's just not about playing songs. Additional challenges come in the form of mini-games where you're playing notes to blow stuff up. It's a rather unique way to get people of all ages into the throes of learning to play guitar. I'm in my late 30s and I enjoy the variety.

What if you are actually proficient and just want to play your guitar? Well, there's an "Amp" mode for that, too. Just go over there and you're able to go through a variety of tone/pedal selects and play your guitar through your A/V system to your heart's content (for 5 dollars, you can unlock everything via DLC so you don't have to play the game).

Note of warning I did mention earlier that this is no Rock Band. It's a LONELY game-play experience. Don't expect to invite 3-4 friends and expect to make a night of Rocksmith...it'd be about as much fun as inviting your friends over to watch you play piano. Yeah, that doesn't work. But, as a primer, Rocksmith succeeds in spades and is going to be having me up many nights learning how to play a guitar.

Thank you, Ubisoft, for making a game that actually lets you use a real guitar. I'm hoping that the backlash of Activisions Rhythm Game saturation won't ultimately hurt sales, but I will be a dedicated follower to come.

Suggestions for Rocksmith II if it should ever happen include bass guitar!!!

Cheers and rock on!

I recently bought this game for PS3. As someone who has been playing guitar for nearly 2 years and is a lower intermediate player I find the game has a lot of potential, but also a lot of things wrong with it that make it extremely frustrating and in the end unenjoyable to use. The developers need to spend some time with a similar iPad, iPhone (iOS) app/game called Rock Prodigy to get some ideas on how to majorly improve Rocksmith.

1. Adaptive Difficulty: adaptive difficulty might be okay for those who just want to play a game, but if you actually want to learn to play the song it is HORRIBLE! The constant adding a removing of notes makes it very hard and frustrating to actually learn a song. Adaptive difficulty should be optional. Like Rock Prodigy I should have the option to pick a difficulty level. Once I get the hang of a level I can move up until I am playing the full song.

2. Pre-Rehearsal: Add a pre-rehearsal or a option screen that presents all the chords and progression used in a song (like sheet music), maybe strumming patterns and other skills used in the song. Music tabs could also be available here.

3. Note Names: I should at least have the option to turn on note names like in Rock Prodigy. Colored strings/notes are useless outside this game.

4. Practice Mode: Kill the 5 lives idea, make endless if wanted.

4a. Auto Pause: Rock Prodigy has a very cool function called auto pause. In practice mode the song will automatically pause until you hit the correct note or chord. Very helpful when getting started with a new song. Can be turned off at any time.

4b. Speed: Let me pick the speed. Once I can play it slower I will speed it up at my own pace.

4c. Riff Repeater: Let me decide when to stop!

5. Rhythm: A better way to present rhythm or strumming patterns. The presentation on the note highway is confusing.

6. Retry: Let me retry whatever I am doing without having to go back to the main menu screen and reload. Gets annoying very fast.

7. Load Times: Install to hard drive option to speed up load times.

As I stated at the beginning I believe the game has a lot of potential, but as it is now I find it more aggravating than fun or educational and would have a hard time recommending it to other guitar players. I think I am done playing the game for now. Once the overdue PS3 patch/update is finally released I will revisit the game and see if it is greatly improved. I hope it is because I want the game to be hugely successful. It is a great idea to be able to use a real guitar to learn actual songs and have fun, but it currently falls short in to many ways in my opinion.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program When playing this game I could really appreciate the fact that it is well made and that the graphics are outstanding. The gameplay however was not up my alley. I thought it was going to be more of a racer that had jumps included, but a good part of the game consists in stringing together jumps and tricks in order to increase your boost. Those that are looking for this kind of experience won't be disappointed, but if you are like me, and you are looking for an experience more along the lines of games like Motorstorm, you may not find this one to be the best option.

Click Here to Read More Reviews >>

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I went into Pure thinking it would be overly arcadey, sort of like a Motor Storm, and found that it's actually a super-accessible technical racer that you can play arcadey if you like, or page through 30-some pages of parts to build out your ATV for the perfect race.

The graphics are excellent and framerate solid, even when hitting huge air and getting the zoom-out effect where you see almost the entire map. That is one of the most exhilerating moments while playing.

The students are defined in 1 of 4 levels, basically mapping to the 3 face buttons and both L1/R1 I believe depending on your boost level and then combining that with some direction on your analog stick. This results in quite a few combination *technically*, but actually being fast enough or coordinated enough to pull of a face-button and 1 of 8 directions differently each time is a lot tricker than you think, especially since pre-loading your jump (pushing down then flicking up right as you crest a jump to throw yourself into the air) already positions your hands and fingers in a certain feel coming out of a preload and immediately into the opposite motion, like down and triangle is pretty tricky.

I found myself pulling off the *same* stunts per-level over and over again (which give you less and less boost as you keep repeating stunts) just because it was the most natural feel to me when I frantically tried to pull something off before hitting the ground.

The game is fairly forgiving, I readily lost some races and readily won others... I couldn't detect any rediculous "rubber banding" that is a stable in the Need for Speed series and some other racers, it was a very natural feel of either "I'm loosing", "I'm catching up" or "I'm winning"... and in some cases "I'm destroying them!".

The amount of polish in this game is evident from the get-go and never really lets go... it's a really safe buy if you like racers and just a lot of simple and accessible fun with great graphics and excellent track design.

Usually I try to avoid any game made by Disney. Though after reading some very good reviews about it, I decided to take my my chances, and thank goodness I did !The games graphics make you feel as if you are actually in the game, ( e.g puddles spraying the screen and mud smearing your shirt if you crash ) . Stunts are truly awe inspiring as you pull off tricks that are not physically possible in reality ! The controls are fun and not as complex as past ATV games have proven to be, so that is certainly a huge boost of game play. Though what I love best about this game is the breath taking landscape. My heart always races as I fly over the mountains of New Zealand and do a couple backflips on my vehicle as I descend at a sick speed to the ground. The game enables you to design your own personal ATV with loads of engines, shocks, handlebars, wheels and alot more, that you can choose for your ride."World Tour" a game mode in Pure is also sure to excite, as you try to become the best ATV rider in the nation, while earning those upgraded parts for your vehicle along the way !You can also choose to just do a single race, including a sprint race, a normal race, and best of all, Freestyle, where you collect special boosts and gas ( you can't run out of gas if you wish to complete the race )

The only need for improvement for Pure is maybe to have more game modes(World Tour is the only one) otherwise this game is 'pure' amazing !

There are few racers out there nowadays which capture that arcade feel while still feeling current. I am sick and tired of the Gran Turismo's and Forza's where you need to plan every nuance of how to build your car, and then start racing and realize its going to take you days to simply figure out how to drive straight. This game does none of that. It does have the cool feature of letting you build your own ATV, but its not overly complex, and once you get into the racing aspect this game is FUN. A racer doesn't have to have all those things, sometimes you just want to jump right in and race, and this game does just that. It also has some of the better graphics I have seen in a racing game. Plus it's cheap. 20.00 is a steal if you want to fill out your collection.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I had fun with this game. As the title says, I am not an ATV person and did not expect much from this game. The graphics (especially the backgrounds) are stunning. It is fun to fly through the air and pull off the trick manuevers. This is defeinerly less of a simulation game (think Nascar) and more of a plain-old fun game. To be a bit tacky, it is "Pure" fun.

It reminds me of the games from the 8-bit and 16-bit eras, but with powerhouse graphics and sounds that the PS3 can deliver!

I picked up my pre-order at GameStop this morning alongside my four disk soundtrack. I can't review this game without mentioning kof xii, I did not hate the twelfth installment in the franchise but if you played it, then you'll know what I mean when I say it felt like an expensive demo. King of Fighters XIII knocks out its' predecessor in everyway!

Content (5/5)

This game has so much more content than the previous one. Several game modes to choose from: Tutorial, arcade, story, versus, practice, network, replay, gallery, mission, and customize. Most of these features were missing from the previous installment, including arcade mode which is a strange exclusion from a fighting game. This also has more than fifteen stages, which was a much needed improvement. The four disk soundtrack with music from kof 94'kof xiii was just the cherry on top.

Story (4/5)

In my opinion this is the least important part of a fighting game. From what I gather this takes place after kof xi.

Graphics (5/5)

Starting with the epic opening scene and displayed in up to 1080p it looks simply beautiful! Over 30 hand drawn characters, all of them look very unique and are very detailed, with only slight pixilation in some of the sprites motions. I'm not sure if the backgrounds are hand drawn but they look amazing, off the top of my head... I couldn't stop staring at the stage with all the elephants in the background must see to appreciate.

Sound Effects and BGM (5/5)

High quality original music, can't say much here kof has never disappointed in this department. You can choose from two setting in the music section, from what I gather one is kof xiii music and the other is randomized music from various kof games.

Game play (5/5)

The game play is solid as always, this is the strength of the kof series. I'm going to focus on "Arcade mode" which is the one I spent most my time on so far. My opponents never felt overly cheap, the A.I. was challenging but satisfying to compete against. Difficulty is well balanced on all five settings.

Controls (5/5)

I had no problem pulling off some special moves and short combos without looking at a move list. Overall most of the moves are instantly familiar if you played kof in the past or even fighting games in general. If you have a choice I do recommend the use of a decent arcade stick for extended play sessions.

Replay value (5/5)

The extensive game modes will keep you busy for a while. I can't stop customizing characters; it's a fun little feature. You can customize every character up to five separate times, not to mention the custom colors that are already pre-made. The online experience will ultimately extend the life of the game. I spent about 2 hours getting by behind handed to me over the network, the connection with other players was a lot better than I expected, I only had two or three sluggish connections in a 2 hour period. The improvements of this feature are like night and day over kof xii.

Minor Imperfections:

Three small things I do want to mention: Vibration on the duel shock 3 is poorly utilized so far, it would have been nice if this feature was better supported during game play. Also there is beautiful animation and cut scenes during the arcade mode which lack voice acting. The other small complaint I have is the omission of "Dynamic" zoom in and out of camera perspective, its still there but not during actual game play. This makes some of the sprites seem thin. All of these are just small things I noticed, not a big deal.

General View (5/5)

I know I'm going to spend endless hours playing online and trying to achieve gold and platinum trophies. I'm glad SNK did proper justice to this installment, the arcade port out does the previous one in every way. My pre-order choice was very wise and I encourage others to pick up this game, it is worth every penny to own even without the soundtrack, it's a great alternative to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and it's an awesome game for your library. King of Fighters is back baby!!!

I'm a long time KoF fan, and after I played this in the arcade and felt how much better than KOF XII this was, I just had to preorder it, and after 6 hours of playtime today, I'm totally hooked. This game REALLY did keep its promise by going back to the CORE of KoF, and bring back the classic gameplay that KoF fans like me fell in love with to begin with. The game includes a tutorial to teach you the basics and how-to of the game, so you won't be scratching your head on how to do all the super-cool, extremely damaging combos or moves.

1)GAMEPLAY

There isn't much to say here, because gameplay for me is flawless. This is definitely the selling factor for KoF games (except for XII) for me, I've really liked the different feel these games had to their much more popular rival, Street Fighter. KOF XIII definitely delivered, with silky smooth controls with no tackiness to them whatsoever. I really like the new EX-moves, Cancel system, and the new deadly NeoMax Desperation moves. The flow of the gameplay is quick and swift, no sluggishness anywhere at all. **5/5**

2)GAME MODES

For the game modes, you have the typical Arcade Mode, which plays you through the game exactly as if you came into the arcade and hit up the machine for a round of play. No story is involved other than your participation in the King of Fighters tournament, and you can make any team you want, consisting of 3 members of not the same "Team" Very good if you're looking just to get straight to the action, no questions. Its not many rounds, and I wish it'd be a little longer, however being 3 vs 3, the battles can be quite long, so there's nothing to complain about there. Next you have Story Mode. In this mode, you select a team that has a set (not changeable) 3 members, and you play through the story of who is hosting the new KoF tournament, and what is the evil that is unfolding behind the scenes as usual. The story is significantly longer than the Arcade, especially if you choose to watch the cutscenes, which honestly I just had to, because I adored the art style implemented in them. The boss suffers somewhat from the usual "SNK Boss Syndrome", but don't worry, it's not even near being another Goenitz ('96) or Igniz ('01) ;) Then you've got the Online mode. While I never play online, I decided to do about 10 games online for the sake of the review, and the gameplay remains unaffected for me (my PS3 is connected via Ethernet, mind you.) I felt no lag at all, it was as if the person playing against me was right next to me with their controller. You've also got a practice mode as well as a Versus Overall, I'm happy with it **4.5/5**

3)GRAPHICS

Gorgeous, that's the word I'd use to describe it. I truly appreciate the fact that the game has been completely hand drawn, and it shows. The sprites of the characters are very pretty, as well as their animations for their special moves and their supers. The backgrounds are beautiful, some even more impressive than others. I was getting mauled sometimes in the game because I had been staring and distracted by the attractive backgrounds. Being hand drawn, don't expect it to be computerized-perfect, because that is, in essence, the beauty of hand drawing. Overall **5/5**

4)SOUNDTRACK

Here KOF has never, ever failed to deliver. Each and every game has a fantastic soundtrack accompanying it, and KOF XIII does not disappoint a single bit. The music for each stage fits perfectly to what you're seeing, or (in the story especially) what is going on in the particular battle you're about to undertake. Sounds for the characters is excellent. I like how there are several different "tone" of voices for the same move for almost every, if not every character. I can't tell you how much it annoys and irritates me to hear the same sound bit over and over again, so by doing this it doesn't let it get as irritating, in my opinion. For those of you (like me) that preordered, you get "The King of Soundtracks" pack, with 4CDs, spanning across ALL KOF games. ('94, '95, '96, '97, '98, '99, '00, '01, '02, '03, XI, XII, and XIII) Except for XIII, you are not given the ENTIRE soundtrack or the arranged soundtrack, but rather the most notable tracks from each game. (Boss themes, particular stages) Can't really complain, and the packet it comes in is very nice. Overall **5/5**

5)CHARACTER ROSTER

KOF XIII has a roster of 30 characters, which you may find using google. The characters ALL have several different preset costumes to choose from, as well as the ability to customize and create your own color set. NOT that big of a deal for me, but I think there are others that will find this very pleasing. I was very pleased with the return of Yuri Sakazaki (she's my favorite SNK character), Billy Kane, and Kula Diamond. Overall the roster is quite solid, and I believe that most KOF fans will find no disappointment. I do wish that Vanessa had been brought back, as well as good old Rugal Bernstein (understandable that he's gone, due to his multiple "deaths" in the series), but it really is not that big of a deal, I'm very satisfied with the roster, and overall I give it a **4/5**

CONCLUSION

The game has exceeded my expectations as a picky, die-hard KoF fan, and I have almost zero things to whine about, and those that I do are mostly opinion-based. I say that if you're looking for a great, fun fighting game to pick up, and you've never tried a KoF game before, BUY THIS, you will not be disappointed. I may update my review after I rack in more hours. Hope this review was helpful!

I just picked up my copy from Gamestop and I have to say this is what KOF 12 should have been and it's even better! The background is very beautifully presented and the characters look vivid and beautiful in a retro 2D presentation. In KOF 13 the story mode has been added back along with other modes such as endless and mission challenge, AND some popular characters that were RIDICULOUSLY missing in KOF 12 such as Mai. The characters are fully customizable from head to toe. Guys if you are a KOF fan or if you are into fighting genre in general this is the one to got for!

For the online play part it is definitely much better! If you ever played Super Street Fighter IV online you can expect the same level of smoothness, which is great because you probably wouldn't be able to notice the tiny lag that exists in the physics of Internet.

If you read the IGN review the reviewer complained about the bosses being cheap. That is just bull$h!# it's a fighting game and the boss has the same life meter as your characters do how do you expect the bosses being more challenging than regular opponents if they are not using full screen damaging supers?

Actually my little complain is that the main theme sounds really like cheesy rock music, but the team theme absolutely can make up for it.

[UPDATE]

So I have played about 10 online matches, there were definitely good and bad network conditions. More than half of the matches I could say they were completely lag free, for some others I could notice that there were very tiny noticeable lag between your input and your characters' moves, but I was still able to do all the combos I trained in practice mode. There was one match that was totally unplayable but I could confidently say that the reason is the other person has really crappy Internet connection (Good luck with any game!) I have the same experience with Super Street Fighter 4 and I guess it's a regional factor.

[UPDATE 2]

When you are playing online, you will encounter players with four different levels of network latency. LV.3 and LV.4 are recommended as you will not be able to notice any lags. LV.2 is playable, you will notice a tiny lag which will make you feel awkward and some combos you practiced for hours are harder to do. LV.1 needs to be avoided at all time. it will make you throw your controller away.

King of Fighters has always been one of, if not the, best 2-D fighters in production. Possessing lush backgrounds, brilliant character art design and catchy tunes the human senses are well pleased. As well, it maintains unique styles and moves for the vast array of characters while keeping them well balanced to one another; a very difficult task when there is so much differentiation. With this simple summary of the game's aspects, there is no need to provide further description on the brilliance of this fighter.

The only problem in a funny way is that it is not a problem at all, however it needs to be aware to many potential buyers. If you are new to or a casual player of 2-d fighter titles expect a rude awakening. Like games such as (Demon's Soul which is coincidentally another Atlus title) this is a very difficult title. If you take your time and practice for quite some time, you may be able to reach the upper echelon needed to your own online let alone get all the unlocks in the regular game modes.

In conclusion, this is a brilliant title with lightning fast entertainment but it is also one that is not for the faint of heart
