I've been playing video games since the Atari 2600 days, been through dozens and dozens of basketball games and I can honestly say NBA 2k7 is the best b'ball game I've personally ever played. I think you'll love it too. NBA 2K7 is the most realistic basketball simulation ever. It looks and plays like a real NBA game and I can't get enough of it. The graphics are stunning, gameplay is tight and the sound is awesome.

Graphics: Not comparing to NBA 07, NBA 2k7 in it's own right is a spectacular looking PS3 game. The mostion caputred move are smooth as silk and transition from one motion to the next looks flawless. Watching players do their signature free throws and shots are sweet added touches. The reflective polish of the courts looks much brighter and shinier than it it does on the 360. The stadiums look incredible and the fans in the stands are even fun to watch when you're not playing the action. You'll see cameramen, mascots, cheerleaders and lots of fans throughout. The players faces look a bit better than the 360 version, as at times they looked like zombies. But on the Ps3 things are much improved. There are some sweet montion captured moves including countless dunks throughout the game. Signature dunks, signature moves and signature free throws will immerse you in the experience.

Gameplay: Forget NBA live, forget NBA 07, this is the best playing basketball game in the world. ON the fly substitions and play calling (without having to pause the game) tight and smooth realistic gameplay will suck you in. The PS3 sixaxis controller works great for 2k7. The only time the sixaxis comes into play with 2k7 is on the free throws. It takes some time to getting used to, but over time, it become second nature. The shot stick on the right stick still works wonders and makes some crazy shots. The computer opponents are very tough even on easier difficulty levels. But the online mutiplayer is where the fun is really at.

Online: Initially the game was suffering when the PS3 was in it's infancy, but things seem to be great now. I haven't had any problems online since, the game plays fast and without any lag as long as you have a good connection.

Sound: Kenny Harlin is back and his comments do get the job done, but it's the same stuff he's been saying for years. They need to update his stuff. Good music on the menu screens and great sound and crowd noise. Nothing to really complain about.

Final Call: This is my favorite game for the PS3. Sports fans need not to hesitate, this is a must have, you won't be disappointed!

the game gives nearly every player in the teams' starting lineup a signature shot and some signature moves. The career mode is chalenging and fun. the gameplay is fun and addictive. The gameplay is fun but the freethrow shooting is very chalenging. nba 2k7 is a must buy for even the casual gamer. nba 07 is more bugged with glihces.

While not a huge fan of NBA Basketball (I prefer the college game, hence the 4 stars), NBA 2k7 is the best basketball SIM available for the PS3. I say SIM because this game plays more like the true game of basketball...it isn't an acarde type of basketball game. I rented the game for a week, so I didn't have enough time to build a full appreciation for the game's ups (or a full dislike of the game's downs)

Pros:

player models and movement are superb. Players even have similar jump shot mechanics as the real life players. Shaun Marion (sp?) has his signature ugly jumper and all.

realistic game play. You won't be running fast breaks for dunks on every posession like other NBA games. This game plays very much like real basketball, which I think is the game's most important quality.

Cons:

getting used to the R2 sprint button. I know, I know...most of the PS3 sports titles are doing this now, it's just going to take adjustment. I just don't like the L2 and R2 buttons for this. I've found that holding those buttons down for long periods of time (like sprinting and playing face-up D in hoops games) causes hand cramps due to the longer range of motion on these 2 buttons in comparison to the PS2 dual-shock controller. I don't like that you can't change the button mapping to be more like the previous games. In all of the button map options in 2K7, R2 is the sprint button. That annoyed me.

Sixaxis free throws. This felt like a gimmick to make use of the motion sensing capabilities of the PS3 controller. Luckily you can change it back to use the analog stick for freethrows.

I don't care for the right analog 'Shot stick'. I'd prefer to use this for advanced dribbling moves (cross-over, spin move, etc). I find the freestyle dribbling system in the 2K basketball games difficult to use. I have a hard time of getting it to do what I want.

I didn't play a lot of the other game modes, and didn't have enough time to play much into a franchise. All said, this is a great hoops game. I won't buy it, only because I'll likely buy the College Hoops 2K7 game when it's available. But if you prefer the NBA game, or must have a hoops game now, this is by far your best bet.

I originally played this title for the 360. Knowing that I was in for an excellent basketball game this was not a bad investment to make. Now Sony is marketing their own basketball game that is displayed in 1080p. 2K7 is not in 1080p. Should that be a selling point? Generally with a new console like the PS3 it would be. Although if people are able to try both titles they will find a clear winner. 2K7 is amazingly realistic with the best graphics by far. Where as Sonys game almost looks too polished the Sega game looks realistic and clean. 2K7 gives you such a phoenomenal picture that people who walk in on your game may be surprised that it is only a video game. What makes this game so great is everything it gives. From the excellent variets of options to the many different games you can play. They also have several different All Star teams available to play with. The realism of this game is also what makes it so much fun to play. The presentation is excellent with the broadcasters keeping up with the action...adding to the realism.

By far this is the best basketball game out there right now. If you are looking for an excellent game that will keep you busy for hours this is it.
