. . .but whether or not you are truly a "wheel person" at all. The Logitech Driving Force Pro is a highly-regarded accessory for the PS2. Many serious enthusiasts of racing games will tell you that it's the only acceptable controller for the ultra-popular "Gran Turismo" and "Need for Speed" series. I'm not here to dispute any of that this is far and away the finest wheel available on the market today. However, given the number of impracticalities that come bundled with any wheel controller, anyone who's not a purist should honestly consider whether or not they'll get enough return on this hefty investment.

The chief impracticality is that any wheel must be anchored to something absolutely immovable in order to get the full effect out of it and how many among us happen to have a chair directly in front of the TV that is angled like a car seat AND a table in front of it that's oddly enough taller than a coffee table but shorter than a dining table? Exactly almost no one. Why do you think that stands custom-made for the Driving Force Pro sell on EBay for $80 and entire steel-framework cockpits with pre-set mounts are available at $500+ per? Your only other alternatives are to cook up a half-solution yourself. I've read how other reviewers have crafted lap desks out of boards or modified TV tables to be sturdier, but again, it raises my chief concern with any wheel controller: will you use/enjoy it enough to put in the extra money and effort necessary to properly use it?

The easiest solution is to sit on the floor and bolt the wheel to a coffee table, but that eliminates the possibility of using the pedals, which severely limits the realism. Plus, you'll feel more like an old lady hunched over the wheel about an inch from the windshield rather than a highly-skill professional guiding a performance vehicle toward the finish line. Finally, even this watered-down option won't work without cutting some foam to fit the base of the wheel; otherwise, its hard plastic will almost immediately scratch your tabletop.

The second issue is with gameplay the wheel has a very steep learning curve in the beginning. I consider myself an expert-level player in GT3, but making the switch to the wheel with GT4 almost took all of the fun out of the game for the first several days. It was difficult to even drive in a straight line, much less execute the maneuvering necessary to succeed in any worthwhile driving game. The purists will say that once mastered, it becomes second-nature just like riding a bike and that's true; however, the road to achieving that level of mastery is a frustrating one, and if you're a casual gamer who enjoys more of an arcade racing experience, the Driving Force Pro may simply be too demanding for you.

The third issue is that when you consider the wheel, the pedals, and whatever mounting apparatus you choose, it's going to eat up a lot of storage space. The pedals are even too tall to simply slide under the couch when you're not playing, so no help there. And given the number of cords (AC power, wheel-to-PS2, pedals-to-wheel) that are required, just leaving it around when not in use looks pretty sloppy and would be easy to trip over.

Once you've finally gotten your physical setup in order and gotten acclimated to using it, the wheel is excellent. It is solidly constructed and the force feedback is a real treat. The 900-degree mode offered in select games like "Gran Turismo 4" creates a new standard in realism; however, given the stoutness of the resistance in the motor and the relatively compact size of the wheel (other reviews have hit it right on the head it's sized like an Indy car, not a street car), your hands, wrists and/or forearms can get fatigued pretty quickly playing that way. Its motor is also pretty loud, which will be annoying to anyone else in the room not interested in hearing a never-ending symphony of mechanical grinding sounds.

The Driving Force Pro represents the best of the wheel controllers for both console and PC gaming. However, all but the most avid racing gamers would be hard-pressed to justify the undertaking of mounting, configuring and learning how to use the wheel on top of the steep price tag.

I wasn't very sure of my purchase at first, given the price tag on this PS2 Wheel.

As the racing game freak I am, I decided to give it a try.

A couple of years ago I bought a MadCatz racing wheel for PC, I played with it for two or three weeks, and decided that it was easier and, in fact, more fun, to play with the keyboard instead of the wheel.

This totally changed when I got the Driving Force Pro.

The looks of this wheel is the first thing that let you realize that you made a good purchase, it looks really cool, and feels comfortable in every way. It doesn't feel like a cheap wheel at all.

Hooking it up is really easy because of its clamp system, which makes it very solid if you attach ot to a table...in my case I put a board across the arms of my Tv chair and attached the wheel to it. I works pretty good like that. The pedals feel real, the brake pedal is a little harder, just like in a real car.

When you connect the wheel and restart our PS2, it automatically turns left and right and finds the center point for you.

Once playing it takes a little while to get used to it...it took me about 1 hour to start matching my times on Grand Turismo 3, and about 2 to start cutting time down.

Now I'm playing Pro Race Driver, and it can't be better...I can't wait for the release of GT4 to test this baby on 900 degree mode!.

If you are thinking about buying a racing wheel for the PS2 this is the way to go, the money you pay for it is totally worth.

There's only one thing I didn't like too much about this wheel: there's too many cables hangin' around the pedals (power, connection to the wheel, and connection to the PS2), and sometimes you get those around your legs....no big deal though, just try to put them away, on the side, and you won't have anything to complaint about.

This thing rocks when it comes to driving games. There are a few things I wish were changed though.

First, the clamping mechanism needs to open just a wee bit wider. I mean, like 1 mm. That's all I need to be able to attach the thing to a countertop. However, even having it on a countertop would not work really well, so I need to find something else to mount it to.

The other problem is the manual there really isn't one. This caused me a bit of confusion when I hooked it up the first time to play Gran Turismo 4 The thing powered on, did it's self centering, then proceeded to be ignored by the game. Only after some time spend messing around did I figure out that you need to remove the Player 1 joystick from the console when you want to use the wheel.

Other than that, this thing is killer.

I'm a wheel newbie, but I liked the looks of this wheel when I saw it in a local retail store. It's very well made and solid, and includes gas/brake pedals and a +/gearshift as well. The diameter of the wheel is a bit small, but it doesn't really detract from the experience. Besides, I've noticed Indycar wheels are small.

The wheel is a little hard to turn, feels like manual steering. But you get used to it quickly. I'd rather have some resistance instead of just a freely-spinning wheel anyway. The force feedback effects are great. In Grand Turismo 3 when your car is going close to it's limit, you can feel the car lose adhesion to the road and pull left and right irregularly. If you pop over a hill and go airbourne for a second you can realistically feel the wheel lose turning resistance.

Burnout 3 and Grand Turismo 3 are a BLAST with this wheel.

Here are my tips:

1. You must have a table or similar surface to mount it to. Something flat and around 2 or 3 inches thick and sturdy, I would guess. You cannot hold it in your lap. I've got mine mounted to a wooden chair turned sideways for now, not an ideal setup but still fun nonetheless.

2. Plug it in the top USB port on your PS2, otherwise some games will only want to use it for player 2. I don't think the picture "manual" tells you that.

3. This wheel also works on a Windows PC. Download drivers at I'm not clear whether force feedback can/will work on a PC but I tried it in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 with good results. I've heard you can get the 900 degree mode working in a PC but haven't got that far yet.

4. You'll need to plug in the wheel to a standard electric outlet, so plan for that.

All right, let my start by saying that this is indeed the best wheel on the market, but that doesn't say very much since 95% of the wheels out there suck. The Driving Force Pro and the Mad Catz MC2 are really the only ones worth paying for. If you are shopping for a wheel I'd suggest looking at the MC2 also. It is a lot cheaper and has a few better qualities than the DF Pro, although it doesn't have force-feedback or 900-degree steering.

The Driving Force Pro is Logitech's second attempt at a steering wheel for a game console. Its most notable feature is the 900 degrees of steering, which is something that no other wheel on the market has. However, the 900-degree steering is only compatible with certain games. I am not sure which yet, but I do know that Gran Turismo 4 (scheduled for release in January/February 05) will. It will automatically switch to 200-degree steering for games that do not support 900-degree. The wheel's other big feature is the force-feedback. It is a little loud, but it really brings the game to life. Since it has force-feedback it has to be plugged in, so make sure you have a free outlet.

Other features include a textured rubber grip, easily adjustable clamps for your table or set-up, very nice styling with a steel GT (Gran Turismo) logo in the center of the wheel, paddle shifters which move with the wheel, L3 and R3 buttons, a sequential stick shifter, USB connection to the PS2 (Works with PC's too, but I haven't been able to get the Force Feedback to work with it yet), and a very functional carpet gripping system for the pedals. I do have a few complaints about it. For one, the wheel is a little bit small at 10 inches in diameter. The MC2 is about 11. It also doesn't have dual-shock (vibrating motors) like the MC2, but this is made up with the force-feedback. The addition of a sequential stick shifter is good, but I personally feel that they put it a little too close to the steering wheel. It also doesn't have much movement when you shift, which kind of takes the fun out of it.

Pros:

-Shifter leaves something to be desired

I should also mention that I had a little bit of trouble with it freezing up briefly while playing GT3. It has happened a few times, but I'm not sure if it's a defect with my unit or an actual incompatibility with the PS2 or GT3. I plan on exchanging it for a new one soon to see if this is a universal problem. I hope this has helped.

I had been eagerly awaiting this game for over a year, as I believe the original release date was supposed to be last year. I finally got it in the mail and loaded it up to experience a since of nostalgia as the famous Ghostbusters music blared. Your character is a no-name recruit who gets to work aside the original cast, all voiced by the real actors, and the graphics immediately gripped me, along with the nostalgia and I was hooked--but not for long.

The story takes place shortly after "Ghostbusters 2" and has you revisting most of the locations from the first Ghostbuster movie (i.e. the library and the Sedgewick Hotel, etc.). You also battle some familar ghosts (i.e. Slimer, etc.). The plot also involves Gozer and more or less pays homage to the first movie, while kind of ignoring the second one (which is fine by me).

The graphics are spot on with the character models and weapons and vehicles. You will be amazed how detailed everything is, including the locations. The variety of locales is nice, but you often find yourself repeating some venues. The sound and music are all on-spot with Elmer Bernstein's classic score played throughout the action and cutscenes. Some of the sound effects can catch you off-guard and spook you a little which is always a good thing.

All of the original cast do a great job voice acting their original roles; there is a lot of the same comedy and it certainly helped with the original screenwriters.

The gameplay is a mixed bag and really makes this a 3 star game, which isn't bad, but isn't great either. It's not hard to control your character per se, except for maybe the run button being mapped to the circle button for some reason. Controlling your weapons is another story. I think the game company got caught up in adding so many secondary fire modes and additional weapons that they never made any one weapon really that good. You'll spend most of the game with the traditional particle beam weapon as seen in the movie. There are other beam weapons such as the one that shoots out a freezing-like beam; one that shoots out green slime; and one that acts almost like a fast response gun. You will find annoying the short length of time you can use any of them before having to hit the button to "vent" them; this usually happens in the middle of a battle when you don't have the time. The PKG goggles are a bit gimmicky, but do help you locate some ghosts and more specifically add to Tobin's Spirit Guide info you may find interesting and sometimes useful (i.e. weaknesses of the ghosts, etc.)

The teammate AI is perhaps one of the worst I have seen in a game in a long while. Not only are they incapable of holding their own, they rely on you to risk your own death to go "recover" them, which is a quick press of the X button when close to them. Most times this results in you falling down and you hoping there is a Ghostbuster around to return the favor--most times there is not or you can hear them coming and they get knocked down and it's "Game Over." Often, you and only one other Ghostbuster will be in a certain area. The ghosts will gang up (wait till you get to the graveyard battle--you'll know it) and throw a lot at you and if you aren't saving your fellow Ghostbuster constantly, you will most certainly die. Dying wouldn't be as bad if it didn't have a ridiculously long load time. (Mind you, the game does an install on the PS3's HDD, so why such a long load time every time you die?)

Among the issues above that seriously take their toll on your enjoyment as the game progresses, there are some inexplicable glitches (one in the library) where your character will just freeze for no reason (and it's not part of the game). Not often and definitely not something that bothered me too much, but it shows a lack of polish.

I've read a lot of high score reviews and can't help think they are based on the feeling of nostalgia. This is the BEST Ghostbusters video game ever released. I can't deny that. Was it fun? Yes, though it was short (about 7-8hrs). I recommend as a rental or as a purchase when the price comes down some. It is a good example of how movies and games can become seamless these days. With more polish, better AI, and a reduction in load times, it would easily be a 4+ star game. Hopefully any sequel will take these flaws into account.

Ghostbusters is a solid game. I'll start with the gameplay.

Single Player: In general I would say it's about average for this type of game. By average I mean the game play and controls are good, just nothing revolutionary. Sometimes it gets a little repetitive in spots but all in all a worthy effort. Using the proton pack is fun but loses a little bit of the fun as you use it so much sometimes.

Multiplayer: Good fun with your buddies or other online people. There are modes such as: Survive survive waves of ghosts, Destruction basically wreak havok and destroy these ghost container thingies, and Ghost Trapping Basically trap as many ghosts as you can in the time you have. There are the typical "gun power ups" you can earn along with new costumes, etc. There are weapon spawn points which are helpful so you can shoot different types of projectiles at the ghosts. Overall this is a pretty fun multiplayer but again nothing revolutionary.

As for the story, voice acting, cut scenes: The voice acting is super cool. I mean you just can't beat having the REAL voices of the ghostbusters as you play through the game. It really makes you feel like it's the real deal. The story is well written with the dialogue containing the usual witty banter you've come to expect from the Ghostbusters movies. I thought the cut scenes were well done, actually a little better than I expected. The voices, story and overall ambiance of this game really give it that extra polish that other games sometimes lack.

I would say the gameplay is about 3 to 3.5 stars but the great voice acting and story convinced me to rate this as a 4 star game. Considering most games based on movies are not very good this was a pleasant surprise. If you are a big Ghostbusters fan definitely pick this game up as the voice acting and story alone will bring back great memories. If not or you are on the fence you might consider renting this game first to see if you enjoy it enough to drop the cash on it.

I am one of the people that grew up watching the two Ghostbuster movies and every incarnation TV series. If you are a fan of the movies, you will love the game. The story is full jokes and is just as funny as the two movies. There were many times that made me laugh out loud. While playing, it felt as if I was actually in the movie because the game has such great game/gamer interaction.

I have to admit that there are a couple of flaws with the game, mainly the running, which isn't the greatest. Besides that, there is really nothing that I didn't like. I had forgotten how much I loved the two movies and this really brought back the nostalgia, and I actually had tears in my eyes at times. The series just holds a lot of great memories for old-time fans such as myself. If you are a fan, you will want this game. It's great!

Anyone who is a true video game junky knows that there is one written-in-stone, undeniable rule when it comes to video games that are based on movies.

They suck. Not only do they suck...they suck like a transvestite prostitute at a Hell's Angels rally. They suck like a court-appointed attorney. They suck worse than St. Louis style pizza. They suck worse than an animal shelter owned by Michael Vick. They suck worse than Chicago.

Well...okay, it's hard to suck as bad as Chicago. At least no video game based off a movie was ever home to the worst politicians EVER.

This game shatters that rule. It not only shatters it...it obliterates it.

The gameplay is actually innovative and fun. I had a bit of trouble at first figuring things out (the game didn't tell me how to deploy a trap...or at least I didn't see or hear it) but it has a little guide book to help you if you go into your menu. There's research to be done (although it's hard to get a scan of a creature on the PKE meter when it's throwing a bus at your head). It's neat to zap ghosts and feel like a real Ghostbuster like when I was a kid. I grew up watching the Ghostbusters and remember how excited I was when they released Ghostbusters 2.

Which brings me to what makes this game shine brighter than any star in the sky...the story and voice acting.

You have the ORIGINAL Ghostbusters voicing their characters from the movie. Bill Murray is fantastic (of course), Dan Akroid is absolutely hilarious as usual, Harold Ramis absolutely rocks the character of Egon with his usual intellectual wit, and Ernie Hudson returns with the straight-faced "I didn't see no ghost" one-liners. Every. Single. Scene. Had my girlfriend and I laughing out loud.

That's the important thing about this game...it feels like it wasn't made to sell to as many people as possible, it was made for the fans of the original Ghostbusters as a way for Murray, Akroid, Ramis, and Hudson to say "Thanks, everyone".

I honestly view this game as a gift for my years of watching, quoting, and stopping on a channel that happens to be showing the Ghostbusters movies to grin because I know the funny part is coming up next.

"GET HER!"

That was great, Ray. "Get her". Real scientific.

"Ray...if someone asks you if you're a god...you say YES!"

"THE FLOWERS...ARE STILL...STANDING!"

"Must have been some cockroach..."

If you don't know the movies...and quite possibly if you didn't GROW UP with the movies and cartoons then you probably won't "get" this game. You'll play it and maybe rate it as average or slightly above average.

If you, however, ate, slept, and breathed everything Ghostbuster and can answer the question "Who you gonna call!?" in less than a second and with GUSTO then this game will have you looking around with a feeling of creepyness one second and then crying with laughter the next and then RIGHT back to jumping out of your skin and madly flailing around with your proton beam.

Back to the game as I'm getting off on a nostalgic rant. There are bonus items in the form of "Cursed Artifacts" to collect. There are ghosts to read about by scanning them and entering them into your Tobin's Spirit Guide. There are also "power ups" to buy to improve your equipment and a running total of damage caused to all of the locations you visit.

If you, your children, spouse, best friend, or your pet are a fan of the Ghostbusters then you owe it to yourself to get this game. I have a half played copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sitting in the video game drawer that is seeing little playtime because I am now taking a trip down memory lane with the guys with nuclear accelerators on their backs.

So I'll say it loud and say it proud as I aim for the flat-top!

2 years after the events of GB 2, it seems the boys in uniform known as Ray (Voiced by Dan Ackroyd), Egon (Voiced by Harold Ramis), Winston (Voiced by Ernie Hudson) and Venkman (Voiced by Bill Murray) are thinking of opening up franchises through the states in each major city. A new recruit just joined in, however more bizarre things have been going on from the Sedwick Hotel to all the way to Central Park as a new force of evil conducted by the Gozer-Worshipper has been happening as it's up to our boys to literally go through hell and back.

One of the best games i've ever played and i've been a huge GB fan for 26 years, it really satisfies any fan of this movie franchise. It co-stars Annie Potts back as Janine, William Atherthorn back as Walter Peck, Brian Doyle Murray, Max Von Sydow and Alyssa Milano. Here this game gives us clues on what lead us to the first 2 movies especially GB 2's river of slime cause.

The graphics are outstanding here especially the facial capture of the characters and the writing by Harold Ramis and Dan Ackroyd is amazing as it's based on GB 3's original concept called "Ghostbusters Go to Hell". Some familar faces like Slimer to Stay-Puft return but this time with a vegneance, you also get to battle some new ghosts like Shandor for example.

Some levels are hard but you have to get use to it and the controls are very good, you do different tricks like boison darts to all the way to sliming black slime that is very poisonus. This game is a major improvement on the horrible NES GB 1 & 2 games and as good as the arcade Real GB games and Genesis game.

Pros:

-turntable design works really, really well

-the game has a huge "fun" factor

-unique, yet familiar to fans of music games

-easy to jump into, yet challenging to master.

-a pretty large setlist/solo mode

cons

-DLC! Where the heck is it? For the ps3 there is VERY little downloadable content and it is outrageously priced. 8 dollars for 3 songs? No way!

-online multiplayer, I think it lacks a big enough audience, sometimes I try to play online and there simply isn't anyone to play. other than that it works smoothly.

-another peripheral to have to store somewhere.

Overall: it is a well polished game that functions really well and can be quite fun and challenging. My only issue is the lack of downloadable content. Eventually you play all the songs and stuff just kind of gets redundant, as with all music games. I beat every song on medium and i will probably go back through and try to beat them all on harder levels (There are two harder than medium and two easier) and then i imagine i will get some online time with it. My 11 year old nephew played it for a couple of days and it seems he lost interest. It is going to be one of those games you only pick up from time to time, but when you do you have a blast.

Sidenote: it would make a fantastic party game with two turntables and a mic (the mic from rockband does work) But, i couldn't justify paying that much for two turntables. I'm hoping a friend of mine buys a turntable so we can get them together some time and play together.

This game is so awesome. As a parent it was great to be able to join in by singing while my son scratched. The music was great and there are so many ways to play!

Great game! I've never had a situation where I couldn't find somebody to play online yet. The music and mixes are fantastic and the controller seems to be decent quality. If you're thinking about buying one, I'd just do it. It's a wireless controller and you can also use it to play DJ Hero 1.

The only cons I can think of is that the DLC is expensive. As of now, I think they have like 3 packages you can buy and they're all about $8 for 3 songs (give or take). Probably not worth it. That being said, the game comes with about 100 songs, so how many more do you really need?

This game really is a blast. Even my wife plays it! She typically, and rarely, only plays button mashing fighting games, rock band, games with simple controls, etc. She had a lot of fun with this, though. Some of the music is boring and you really have to like club music to like it all. There is tons of old, classic stuff, and enough modern stuff that I like to say the song list is pretty stellar. Single player gets old, but the party mode and versus battles are great! Definitely worth a try.

Graphics/Visuals

This game is a big improvement over Madden 09. There are many new enhanced graphics and visuals. The experience can be additionally enhanced with a HDTV. Overall, the whole game is a lot more lively and vivid than the last. Many visuals seen on the game are usually seen on Sundays.

The new player models are excellent and the uniforms look superb. On one cutscene, the texture of the uniforms can be seen. In the previous next-gen versions of Madden, many of the player models were kind of bulky looking. Now, the players are built more realistically. New uniform accessories have been added, such as towels, hand warmers, team colored gloves, and team colored cleats. They are not the same boring black and white cleats, which was on the previous versions. For the first time, uniforms can be interchanged, as well.

During the game, many details and animations can be seen on the game, fan interactions, QBs talking on the phone, coaches ranting, players talking on the sidelines, kickers practicing kicks, players riding the exercise bike, referee interactions and chain gains. One of the coolest features is seeing fans leave early, if their team's game has gotten way out of hand. It is also quite funny.

Game Play

The game play is better. First off, the game speed can be adjusted. Many of you played the demo and didn't like the speed of the game. Well, it can go from very slow, slow, normal, fast and very fast. Also, EA has added a new threshold differential. This means setting to the higher the level will give the player less of a disparity between the fast and slow players. A lower setting will increase the disparity.

The player animations and movements are realistically fluid and not robotic, such as the previous versions.

I noticed on some movements, the players use more momentum. Players can't just break out and turn different corners, quickly, like they are on wheels. They actually bend and don't stay upright, while turning a corner. Sometimes, the player may have to make a cut, in order to head up field. The best animations are while going through the hole. Pressing the directinal buttons will make the RB make many different cuts. Time them right and the defender can be juked. Typically, juking could only be done by spinning.

The player animations have improved. Players fall many different ways. Sometimes, it even seems as if they are going to break out of a tackle, then they start to fall. There have been times when I was on the edge of my seat because I thought my player was breaking the last tackle in order to "take it to the house", but he goes down. Not to bad. The Pro-Tak is realistic. The players pile up, when necessary. It is not an every down occurrence. Keep in mind, different modes carry different Pro-Tak results.

The game is very competitive!!! Even this year's version of All-Pro is a lot harder than the previous versions. Players cannot expect to just dominate the game above the Pro level. Many glitches from the previous version have been neutralized, as well. Also, the computer does not make themselves sitting ducks for hit-stick tackles, such as previous versions of Madden. They do more weaving on this game, which is fine.

Flaws

There are a few things that disturb me about the game. The first issue is the new running motions of the players. It seems like they run with their heads down. They also look as if they are just struggling to try to run. In addition, every player runs in the same motion. The previous Madden had at least 3 or 4 different running motions.

The next issue is the new "fight for the fumble" feature and the chain gang. "Fight for the fumble" is a joke. It is like a mini game, which you have to press various buttons rapidly in order for possession to be gained. There was a play, which the player fumbled and two of my team members dove on the ball. Clearly, I had possession of the football. Unfortunately, I still had to fight for the football and lost possession of the recovery. Of course, this feature can be turned off. The chain gang will drive you crazy. Every single time you have a nine yard play, the chain gang comes out. I mean, lots of times, you know that you didn't get a first down. What is worse, this feature cannot be skipped.

Some of the cutscenes get repetative. During the game, you will constantly see the same cutscenes, which involve the same position players. For example, when you see the QB talking on the phone, you see the FS over his left shoulder, each time. Then, you will see the triplets sitting down (QB, RB and WR). Then, when a play goes awry, the coach will be ranting at a player who had nothing to do with the play going wrong. For example, if the QB throws a pick, the coach will rant at the OL. Why not the QB? If the QB throws a pick, he yells at the OL or the FB. That makes no sense. They should have had at least 20 cutscenes, which involves different position players.

Depending on what level you play on, you will experience some of the issues, which was on the other Madden games. You will still see makeshift tackling. This goes on during "Pro-Tak" animations. In modes other than Pro, you will NOT see double-hit tackling. In All-Madden, the AI of your teams just goes out of the window, such as OTs ignoring blocking assignments. In addition, many of the issues become more magnified. All-Madden is totally unplayable. I would suggest playing on Pro or Custom and tampering with the settings.

The commentary is just dull and scripted. It would be nice to have a Madden, which has some loud an exciting commentary. For example, if someone makes a spectacular catch, I want the commentator to have excitement in his voice, when the play happens. I compare this to how it feels when watching Sunday Night games on ESPN. Hearing exciting commentary, while watching a game makes it more exciting. The dull commentary takes away from that experience.

Though the half-time presentation is good, the highlights are shown out of order. When watching real football, half-time and post-game shows at least have the highlights shown in sequential. This could have made the half-time presentation more organized.

The Verdict

Everything on the game has been improved in many ways. In fact, it is a complete turnaround from the last version. If it were not for the flaws, which I mentioned, the game would be even more superior. Of course, no game is going to be perfect, no matter what. Many critics need to realize this. Therefore, if you loved M09 (2008 was horrific), you will absolutely love this latest installment of Madden. Keep in mind, this finished product is a lot better than the demo!!!

Let me start off by sating that this is the best madden I have ever played. Yet, for the price, I still feel like Ive been scammed for some reason. I'm fine with paying $60 for a quality game like MGS4, COD4 MW, COD Modern Warfare 2, Gran Turismo, etc.. I feel that this game was rushed, and that the preview blogs that they posted moths before the launched made me feel like that this is going to be one of those top tier games. They worked on the visual details so much that they didnt spend enough time on the actual gameplay.

Pros:

1. The claim that they made that whatever you see on Sundays is what you will see on the game is true. You will see every detail on the player (towels, handwarmers, type of sleeve, type of helmet down to the exact model and facemask, gloves). Referees are there and so are the chain gangs and coaches.

2.The mechanics have slightly improved. You can now adjust the game speed based on you preference. The routes WRs run have been improved (more realistic).

Cons: THERE ARE MANY

1.Franchise Mode lacks a lot. The Injury system has improved but only on the short term (during games). In the long term (season), injury sys. is still unrealistic. For example, If a player tears his ACL completely during the Pre-Season, he will be out for the season and available the following season. Taken into acct that ACLs take about 1 year to heal with surgery, this is accurate. But one of my guys tore an ACL, during the NFC Championship game and he was out for the season, but was available at the start of the following season. Considering that the NFC Champ. games is in late Jan. and the start of pre season is in Aug., thats only 6 1/2 months. There is no way a player can come back from a complete ACL tear in 6 months. Also, the players are too agressive in contract signings. I played as the Eagles one time and their heir apparent at QB, Kevin Kolb wanted $32M for a 4 year contract, and McNabb was still on the team. Kolb had done nothing for the team except for holding kicks, and he wants $32M. That's absurd! He wasnt even that good, He was ated in the 70s. Then the next year Ellis Hobbs was asking for another $40M+ contract, FOR BEING A NICKELBACK!! I think Madden should take into acct the roles that each player plays on the team and how they should negotiate in contracts. A player that I drafted 2nd overall(QB) wanted a 6 year $90M contract and he hasnt even proven anything, He is worse than his real life counter-parts. I can tell you for sure that Matt Ryan, Matt Stafford, Mark Sanchez, and Joe Flacco didnt get that kind of contract. They should use the contract system from NFL Head COach 09 which implemented bonuses, because in this game the GM (you ) have no leverage against them. If you dont sign them they go to Free Agency and you will be mad at wasting that 2nd overall pick.

2. More from FRANCHISE MODE

The Madden people claim that there will be a different feeling in playing regular season games than playoff games. Personally, I dont see a difference. The cut scene after winning the SB is always the same and looks so fake. On the makeshift stage that the winners stand on, its always the QB who holds the MVP trophy no matter who wins it. A WR or TE can be MVP and you will still see the QB holding the trophy in the end. Also, the cutscenes get annoying and most of it is cheesy. What annoys me out of all of them is the chain gang measuring the spot scene. If you pick up 9 yards on 1st and 10 and can clearly see that the ball didnt make it across, the cuscene would still play. Whats annoying is that if you gain 9yds, the ball is 1yd behind the 1st down marker, in the cutscene they make it look like the ball is 2in from the 1st down marker.Madden only has 3 or 4 spots that the ball is in during that cut scene (2in short, 1 foot short, ball halfway past stick, and ball completly past the stick) Even if youre downed 1yd past the 1st down, when the cutscene plays, the ball will be at most 1/2 past the stick, but when it comes back to the regular view, the ball gets spotted 1yd past the stick.

3.Players on the sideline.

Everytime the game cuts to a scene showing the entire sideline, the are two groups of players who do the same thing, they are even snchronized.

4. Limited playbook

The playbook is so limited. There are no trick plays to run, and the sub packages feature has been removed.Now you have to indv sub your players to change packages. To touch on the playbook, it is so limited. I wish that they would update the playbooks like they do with the roster. Heck, the eagles dont even have a wildcat set for Mike Vick.

5.Wildcat

Its good that they put in the wildcat formation in the game. But its basically useless. First off, you cant audible out of it and you cant hot route out of it. If you play in anything higher than PRO difficulty, you will find this formation useless. Also on WC passing plays, the passer cant scramble, and since you cant audible out of it, the defense coincidentally calls a blitz and you are basically guaranteed a sack.

6. AI

There are serious problems with the CPU AI in this game. If you play in PRO diff. and up, you will find the CPU team basically calling plays that perfectly counters what you called. If you call an Iso run up the middle out of the I, defense will blitz all or at least 2 LBs, and they will pack the box with 8 men. If you audible out of that and call a deep pass play, they will drop everyone back. This ticks me off the most because I feel like I'm playing against someone, and telling them what play I'm gonna run b4 I snap the ball. This is what makes wildcat useless. If you call an option play out of the wildcat. The defense will blitz both ouside LBs, so it doesent matter if you hand it off or do a QB keeper the defense will still get you for a loss. You cant do anything about it cause you cant audible. Also, if you call a wildcat run play, the defense will stuff 10 guys in the box and your outsde recievers will not be covered by anybody, but since you can audible, thats another negative play. "Coincidentaly", If you call a wildcat passing play, all the DBs will cover and jam your WRs and blitz the LBs, and since you cant scramble, the passer is a sitting duck, and this is almost a guaranteed sack.

7.Difficulty.

The difficulty settings on Madden has little or nothing to do with your player's or CPU's players' skills. Its all about making mistakes and the CPUs ability to "spy in your huddle"(know what play youre gonna run). On the PRO level, its still impossible to stop the passing attack of the CPU. No matter what play u call in D-fense, the CPU QB will complete every pass. The difference btw EASY and HArder difficulties is when you set it to an easier mode, the CPU's QB will throw an INT or fumble in the redzone. So the QB will end up completing 20 out of 24 passes and out of his 4 incompletions 3 will be INTs.

8.Blocking

THe blocking is terrible. Linemen always misses blitzin players and its even worse on running plays. They always seem to let their man go right when the RB is hitting the hole. So even if you line up in a Spread 4WR formation and run a dive play, it will seem like you will gain at least 20 yds cause the defense is spread out, there is nothing but green in front of you. But no, right when you hit the hole a 300lb DT will somehow shed his block or the Lineman will let him go, and tackle a RB going full speed wich nets you a 3 yd gain. I DONT KNOW HOW SOMEONE COULD TURN THEIR BODY AROUND 90 DEGREES AND WRAP UP A RUNNINGBACK CHARGING AT FULL SPEED!!! The problem is that the running backs hit the hole soft which is completely different from how real life RBs do it.

9.Inefectivity of the Blitz

Blitzing is done to knock the QB out of his rythmn and hopefully get a sack. In Madden, it is impossible to get a sack. The QB will somehow find a reciever (even if its is on his blindside) and get rid of the ball at the last moment. Even if you knock him on his ass every play, he would still get the ball out and his rythmn would still be intact. His Linemen also have superpowers in the sense that if you blitz a linebacker in between the RG and RT and bouth of them are blocking the DT And DE, then the LG or LT (someone who is 350lbs!!) will slide all the way in between the RG and RT to pick up the blitz.

10.Special Teams

Special teams is a non-factor in this game. Its impossible to block a field goal, impossible to block a punt(except from the 1yd line), and the blocking on Punt Return is terrible. I dont even do FG blocks anymore, its a waste of time

I haven't bought a Madden game since 2005 when they first introduced QB vision. I thought vision was actually pretty cool back then. I decided to take the plunge and buy the Madden 10 game for the PS3, and honestly, I was very disappointed. Overall the game looks really good on my nice HDtv, but EA is really trying to nickel and dime the consumer with all this Downloadable content that was already included in the series before DLC was available. I'm going to go through every aspect of the game and I think many of you will know what I am talking about.

Superstar mode

My biggest gripe about this madden game is that they completely ruined superstar mode where you create a player and play him as a rookie. You can't workout or anything to improve your players ratings. You have one practice a week and then you play the game, but no matter how well you play, your ratings don't improve or progress. I had the sim the rest of the year to find out that ratings will only go up at the end of the year. But don't fret, if you're impatient, you can pay for DLC that will give your player the max progression for that year or make him a leader of the team. That is ridiculous, these use to be in the Madden game in 2005, now they want you to pay an extra 2 dollars to get it. They also got rid of email or cell phone messages and the ability to select an agent. I thought it was cool when I got an email from my mom congratulating me on winning the offensive player of the week award. There is also nothing to do during the offseason. You can't star in a movie or anything fun anymore.

Franchise mode

EA also did a wonderful job of stripping this down as well. It just seems like you have less options. You don't have a budget to control, you can't increase or decrease ticket prices, you can't do any improvements on your stadium. I liked being able to customize my team after a few years in Madden 05, now I can't do any of this. You sim through, play the game, then you practice, then you play another game and the cycle continues. You can't really do anything else. It's quite boring.

Online game-play

This is the only worthwhile thing I enjoy about Madden 10. You can play others online. There are four modes you can play. There is a ranked single player game, an unranked scrimmage, and an co-op mode, and an online franchise mode. Most of these modes are great, except when they aren't working. I play using my comcast internet connection and get disconnected often which is ridiculous. When this happens, you get an automatic loss and a blemish on your record even when you're winning the game. I know it's not my internet connection, so it's something on EA's part. Their servers has always been known to be very craptacular. I decided that I would get all my trophies for madden, but i can't because the last trophies I neen require that I play the online co-op mode, but it is uber buggy. This mode is meant for you to play against the computer with another live person on your team. The problem is, everytime you start the game, you get the message "the connection with your peer has been lost". This problem has been made known to EA for some time and they have yet to release a patch to address this. I have not tried the online franchise mode, but have heard that it is buggy as well. Each copy of madden comes with one redemption code you need to use to activate the online franchise mode on ONE profile. The only problem is that I'm not the only person that plays madden on my PS3. If someone else wanted to use the online franchise feature on their PSN ID, they have to shell out another 10 bucks. Now if I sell my Madden 10 game, it's basically worth 10 dollars less because the redemption code is non transferrable. This is just another way that EA is trying to nickel and dime you. EA does provide a roster update almost weekly that adjusts for how a player is doing in real life or any trades that might happen which is cool.

Other Small things I noticed

-Commentary is repetitive and very awkward sounding. The same things are said at the end of the game replacing the team names.

-Freezing occurs sometimes for no reason

-You can't throw a deep pass over 30 yards even when your receiver is already past the secondary as the receiver will slow down and the safety and cornerback speed up to get to the spot of the ball and swat it down. This shouldn't happen when the receiver is Steve Smith of the Panthers.

-Wildcat formations are almost unstoppable.

-The new fight for the fumble feature sucks. Two of my guys would land on the ball, but I would lost the fumble recovery because I lose at mashing buttons in the mini game.

-Playstation Network and EA works on their servers quite a bit which make online play unavailable for a few hours which is annoying as this is the best feature in madden.

-That's all I can think of right now.

Conclusion

I bought this game hoping it would be a big improvement from 2005. I was incredibly disappointed. If you really want to spend 55 dollars for a stripped down version of Madden 10 for the roster update, go right ahead. You can spend an extra 20 bucks on DLC to give you features that were in previous versions, but it's not worth it. But if you're a person who really cares about quality, then you'll be just as disappointed as I am. I refuse to buy another Madden game until there is more substance to this series. This won't happen until competition returns to the NFL games. Ever since the NFL gave EA the exclusive license to make their games, there hasn't been any competition and therefore much innovation. EA can just keep releasing the same game year after year and nobody will really care because they have no other NFL games to compete with, but I am going to make a stand to boycott EA games until they release a game of some real substance. This probably won't happen until 2014 since EA's exclusivity contract with the NFL runs up until that time.

This is by far the WORST Madden I've ever played. The controls are absolutely unresponsive and clunky. When attempting to move players, they often do not respond to the buttons pressed. When on defense, pressing dive to tackle your player will do one of three things: he won't do anything, he will literally fall straight down, or if you're lucky 1 out of 10 times he'll actually dive. And don't even try to intercept the ball on your own. If you can actually get your player to respond to your button mashing, the ball will just bounce off your helmet anyways. Also, you know how the computer takes over your player if you don't press anything? In this version of Madden, you're CONSTANTLY fighting the cpu from taking over your character. Especially on defense. If you want to run one direction, you better make sure it's the exact same direction as your route because the cpu automatically starts making your character run in that predetermined route after the snap NO MATTER WHAT. And in the time it takes your player to slow down, stop, and start running in the direction you want, you're already getting burned.

The "realistic" slowed down play sucks. It's not realistic. It's sluggish. The graphics are great, but EXTREMELY glitchy. Props disappear and reappear during cut scenes. A guy will be talking on the phone and all of a sudden it will just disappear from their hand. WTF? And why does every character look like the corners of their mouths have been sewed shut when they talk?

I could go on and on, but I won't. I hated this game. I've loved the Madden franchise for a long time, but this is a waste of money and time. Maybe you won't agree with me. Maybe you'll love it. I'd suggest renting it though before you play it so you can judge for yourself.

Do something, do anything. For three years, the Madden franchise has been painfully stagnant. Probably four, but Madden '06 was the first Madden game I had played since 2002. That's not to say I didn't try the other Maddens. They were tremendously inferior products to the 2K Games that Sega was pumping out and it only took a few games to see why. The presentation made you feel like you were watching the game on TV, great, for it's time, commentary, creative cut scenes and animations, gang tackles in 2003, and graphics so real, you'd mistake what was on your TV for a true broadcast. Madden, to this day, has lagged behind, only adding gang tackles recently, trying a failed "rewind" feature that infuriated even it's most loyal supporters, and only this year have they added in game cut scenes to add to the realism.

To this day, NFL 2K5 remains the benchmark for sports games. Madden 10 deserves a spot on the team, but still likely play on the scout team.

First, what are the positives with this game?

-Greatly improved graphics. Madden '09 seemed like simply a retexture of '08 which inturn seemed like a retexture of '07. Madden '09 added almost nothing new with the exception of the previously discussed rewind feature. Yuck.

-In-game cutscenes. Finally! It only took them six, maybe seven years to realize how this adds to the gameplay. NFL 2K5 found the perfect balance of what to add and what to avoid. Madden 10 has great timing with cutscenes, but they also get repetitive fast and there are some issues where you see the back of the crowd animation instead of the players. Still, nice addition, but why did it take them so long?

-Two man commentary. Another overdue "feature". Who thought one man commentary was a good idea?

-Slowed down game play. I see a recurring trend. The addition of "features" that were in the competitor's game years and years later. Also, another thing NFL 2K5 did well. This kills the high, high, high scoring games.

-Better blocking. The ability of your linemen actually matter in this game. It's about time.

-Taking time of the clock as you skip ahead. A real nice feature for exhibition games. This is one of the few features I haven't seen in a football game before.

-Updated rosters. Hell, I was playing with '08 until now.

But there are negatives. A few of them.

-The "new" features aren't really that new. Most of the features touted as new in this game were actually all in NFL 2K5, and most were in NFL 2K3. Unfortunately, the lack of competition allowed Madden to lower expectations and produce games that often are stripped of features that previous Madden had. Examples include the 7 man gang tackle and the in-game cutscenes. I wouldn't have had a problem with this had they been better than 2K5's, but they weren't.

-Lot of graphic flaws and errors. In two games, I had more players arms go through torsos and crowds block out cutscenes than playing any other game.

-Online franchise is here! Wait, you have to pay for it? Nevermind.

-Music. Generally, sports games have terrible soundtracks. MLB The Show '07 was an incredible game, but the soundtrack hurts the complete experience. I can't really fault Madden 10 for this, as the only sports game that I played that I actually enjoyed the soundtrack was MVP '04, which included "My Coco", "Walkie Talkie Man", and, um, "Hey Driver". Ok, so two out of three ain't bad. Still, "Bullgod" by Kid Rock? What? Seriously Madden?

So what's the final verdict? As many faults as Madden 10 has, it has its moments. The graphics are great, when they aren't obscured, and the game plays a lot better than last year's, even if the changes were due years ago. I would give this Madden a 7 out of 10, but for Amazon, I'll round up to 4 out of 5 stars. It's a good game, but the fact that I'd almost rather play a game that came out in the summer of 2004 to get my football fix, knocks it down a few pegs.

For everyone on here who can't figure out how to assemble these (which is understandable, because the directions are terrible):

Each clamp comes in two pieces, with a slight space between them. Take them and SQUEEZE THEM TOGETHER as hard as you can until you hear two loud pops, one on each end. Don't worry, you didn't break it. You're just putting it together. If you don't do this, the tightening nuts won't work, no matter how much you try to turn them. Now they don't slide down when you hit them! No tape necessary!

Now. Speaking as an actual drummer, these are the best accessory for Rock Band ever. Quieter and more responsive than the RB2 cymbals. As for the hi-hat clamp length issue, here's what I do. To set up like an actual drummer, you need to connect your crash and your hat on the LEFT side of the kit. Put the green crash on the tall tube. Connect it to the set with a short clamp. Now connect the hat to that tube with the long clamp, putting the hi hat on a short tube to the left of your snare. Now put your ride on the right side. There. May take some adjustment, but you're playing like an actual drummer. HAVE FUN!

I purchased this RB3 Cymbal kit to go along with my RB2 drum kit to use in Pro Mode in Rock Band 3. Out of the box these cymbals are WAY too sensitive to be even remotely fun to play. I was extremely frustrated at double-hit notes coming through constantly. I searched around online for an answer and found a partial solution. If you look for the "Penny" mod it will clear up a lot, but not all of the issues (although it will void your factory warranty). I added some extra foam padding above the actual sensor and now the cymbals work perfectly. So, as an out-of-the-box item these cymbals are pretty much useless for the precision needed for RB3. With a couple of simple mods, though, these puppies work great. Granted they should have worked great straight from the factory but they are so much fun now I'm willing to overlook the simple mods I had to do to make them work properly. A worthwhile investment if you don't mind doing a little work to get them to function properly. Hopefully Madcatz will clear this issue up with future releases of the cymbals.

I was a little skeptical to buy the cymbal expansion kit. I read reviews where there had been problems with stability and the cymbals generally not working correctly. I've been using these for the past couple of months now, and they work wonderfully! They are completely sturdy when attached the CORRECT way, and add a whole new dimension to an already great game! I am very, VERY pleased that I went with my instincts to buy the expansion kit over getting a whole new set. I am not disappointed at all! Highly recommend!

UPDATE: After I posted this scathing review of the new Rock Band 3 cymbals, someone mentioned that the slipping problem a lot of people (including myself) have been suffering from might be related to the quick-snap part of the clamp. Sure enough, when I tried snapping the quick-snap part together again, this time using a wrench instead of my bare hands, it seems to have worked. Therefore, if the manual would have noted that you should use a wrench to snap the quick-snap parts together, it would have saved me and a lot of other people a lot of grief and removed the impression you need to tape the metal pole up for the cymbal to stay put. The quick-snaps are not something you should be snapping together with your hands unless you happen to be a gorilla.

This single oversight in the manual caused me a ton of hassle, as you can see from my original review below, so I'll remove one star for that. Otherwise, this seems to be a decent product. I'd give the game Rock Band 3 itself 5 stars, but these cymbals get 5 stars minus 2 for the pain and aggravation caused by this oversight in the manual. Maybe in a month after I forget how much the installation experience sucked, I'll want to increase the rating for the cymbals to 4 stars or so...we shall see...

Unfortunately, the Rock Band 3 version of these cymbals still retains a fatal design flaw that existed in the previous version whereby the yellow cymbal's clamp fails to perform the very basic function of clamping. The yellow cymbal starts to slide down immediately when you start playing, and no amount of turning the screw (even with a wrench) provides enough tension to hold the cymbal up for more than a few hits. It would be bad enough if this type of design flaw existed in the first iteration of the product, but this is the second iteration, and the manufacturer has obviously known about this problem for over a year, yet arrogantly decided that its customers would, I don't know, not notice? Only use two out of three cymbals? I have no idea what they were thinking when they let this product escape the quality assurance process. There really is no excuse.

Although customers can jury-rig a fix with tape, this is by no means acceptable. Such failures in basic functionality should never be allowed in a finished product.

Exactly what is described, brand new cases. One thing though, they have the PS3 logo and the blu ray logo on top, which is fine. But when I tried to move the under plastic artwork from old games into the new case, they didn't seem to fit right. It was only the games that DIDN'T have the Playstation 3 logo at the top of the case (which is the majority, at least in my collection) that did not fit right. Don't get me wrong, they fit, but they get like warped, as if they are a tiny bit too small...

I simply hate the Greatest Hits box that some PS3 games come in. Those red cases look plain ugly and I can't help that with some games whose original transparent cases are difficult to find. Or, in some cases, I come across used PS3 games whose discs are just fine, but the cases look like they were in a tug-of-war with a pitbull.

These replacement cases work just fine as PS3 replacements and fit the covers and instruction manuals well. Recommended!

I loved the PS2 version of this game so much! I was, however, a little worried about buying this Japanese version of this game. I really wanted the updated HD graphics, but was worried about the language barrier.

If you are even hesitant of picking up this import copy of Okami, do not be; it is exactly the same as the English digital version if your PS3 is set up with the English language beforehand. The visual detailing and anti-aliasing with the HD presentation, along with the Wii content upgraded for the PS3, helps this become the definitive version of the title. If you are hesitant to buy digital content, especially if you are a collector or get worried about the longevity of digital content, buy this physical version while you still can, especially before the price jumps up in the future.

On a side note, the content must install onto the PS3 before playing. One might ask, "Why bother paying for a physical copy of a disk that simply downloads itself onto the hard drive," and the answer is simply for the fact that you can put it onto another PS3 if anything ever happens and have the safety of a physical backup, as well as a collector's piece, which, by the way, looks absolutely beautiful.

I've got a lot of good memories tied to this game from 2007 on the PS2. The gameplay is unlike any other I've played before. There was talk of another game that (contains a certain elf dressed in green) some people wanted to believe Okami was a clone of. NONSENSE. Okami is a game in its own league. I thought the graphics for Okami was great back then, but now remastered in HD makes it even better. Some details really do stand out more. Can't say too much because I don't want to spoil anything.

However, like any remake there is bound to be some unwanted changes. As you know, Clover Studios is long gone, and of course, any traces of their name is removed from this game. The song "Reset" is replaced with random in-game music during the end credits. Without that song, the credits don't have the same effect. Good thing it can be played by other means. I've heard this version (Asian disc) has the song, but only if the PS3 is set to Japanese. I haven't tested this myself as of yet. The music makes up part of the game. If you don't have the right music things don't hold together well in any video game.

Some companies can make a great game, but get lazy with music. When that happens, it makes me not fight the best I can. Trust me on this one. Okami has the right music for the right situations. The music on some of the bosses really make you want to fight hard or risk being killed.

With all that said, the PS2 version will always be the most complete. It may not be HD, but it is the original true version. Not counting the Japanese version that is.

I bought this game when it first came out on playstation 2, it sucked me in, there is so much to do and the story and characters are so impactful, the game is both touching and funny and the graphics are beautiful especially in HD. Being that the game is a japanese import I was a bit concerned but there is no reason to be, there is no region lock and the game is completely translated into English. There is no reason to pass up this game which is in my opinion a masterpiece created by clover studio.

Treated as a standalone product, this game demonstrates almost all of the important features of Rock Band. If you already own a compatible Guitar Hero guitar or something of the sort, it makes a lot of sense to buy this game before you buy Rock Band or Rock Band 2 from a cost perspective. Easy enough to walk away and resell it with the download coupon in-tact if you decide you don't care for it, too.

On the coupon: Is there any rational reason at all that the developers have to force Rock Band owners to redownload every song on the disk, at an additional cost of the time it takes to grab several hundred megabytes of content that the owner already has on hand? Not a big problem with a fat pipe, but on my 256k line it had to run overnight to complete. Seemed unnecessary and a bit tacky to me.

If you look at the picture you would realize that it is for the earlier made ps3's. I have the original 60gb ps3 and this fan works great!!!! It's quiet and keeps my machine going. The only downside to the fan is the bright LED light. For all customers looking to cool the older systems this is the one for you. Plus it's cheap. For those who said it was bad please pay close attention to what you are buying before putting it down. The slim ps3's are twice as hard to find fans for. They do sell them you just have to pay attention.

So do not buy this for your Playstation 3 SLIM. I have looked all over the web for any hint of a fan for the slim and have not found one yet. The PS3 slim is running hot after just 10 minutes on. The only reason I even worry about it overheating, is because of the XBOX 360 has overheated on me and the processor failed. So I have had an after market cooling fan attached to it. I hope they make one for the PS3 slim and I also hope that it does not burn up after the limited warranty. Don't buy this fan for PS3 SLIM....

Keeping in mind: (1) I currently play RB2 for PS3 mostly on EASY level starting to move towards MEDIUM, yet (2) I actually play guitar and bass and I can play several of the RB2 and DLC songs on guitar (chords at least, some leads depending on the song) and/or bass (yet I LOVE playing RB2 go figure, eh? It's fun to me!), and (3) I have my PS3 on a standard def TV which I'm about 6 feet from when I play, here are my observations on this controller:

While I was looking for a BASS controller to play BASS on, and this controller looked similar to an actual Fender Precision Bass that I own (albeit with a simulated maple fingerboard as opposed to my actual bass's rosewood fingerboard I do prefer maple btw) I was concerned about the early reviews about connectivity, etc., but finally went for it and bought this.

When the controller arrived I had NO problems with connectivity (NOTE: I connected the USB dongle directly to the PS3, not to a USB hub or piggybacked onto the guitar dongle, and no other instruments were connected). I then played a few of the shorter RB2 songs in Quickplay mode, using this controller as both a bass and a guitar no problems with the fret buttons in the lower register or in the upper "solo" register, nor with the strum/pluck bars. Last night I spent more time (about an hour) playing songs in Tour mode mostly on bass, and had no problems with anything except my dexterity!

Even as someone who does "pluck" an actual bass with the non-fretting hand (though I do generally play bass mostly with a pick especially if the song is fast), the dual strum/pluck bars take some getting used to if you're "plucking" (playing with 2 fingers of the non-fretting hand)! If you do pluck though, with the thumb rest it does make it a LOT easier to play a "Bass Groove" with upstrokes only. Note that you can use the strum/pluck bar(s) to "strum", so don't let the dual design deter you.

With the other reviews about connectivity issues, controllers arriving D.O.A., etc., I'm playing it safe and keeping my shipping box and materials intact just in case I have to return this controller after a more thorough "play in". So thus far, I'm leaving my review at 4-stars, though this controller works well for me so far!

I might be one of few, but I've always liked playing bass guitar on Rock Band. Having the right giant plastic instrument makes it even more fun! The guitar comes mostly ready to go right outta the box...you just snap on the top. I had no problem getting it to work on my PS3 and was playing bass on my new Fender within minutes of tearing open the box. The way you play the bass guitar took a little getting used to, but now I like "plucking" while playing better than "struming". (You can still "strum" if you want to, but why would you want to?) It also has the nicest included guitar strap of any plastic guitar out there.

The only downside is the RB Wireless Fender Precision Bass feels lighter and more "plasticy" than I was expecting; it's not a bad thing, I was just expecting it to be heavier. It actually feels lighter than my RB2 Fender Strat guitar.

The RB Wireless Fender Precision Bass works great with Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and is perfect with Beatles Rock Band. It doesn't, however, work with any Guitar Hero game I've tried.

Get this guitar! It's fun to play, works flawlessly, and looks impressive when you have friends over to play Rock Band!

I received this as a Christmas gift and opened it up hook it in and it was DOA.

I got an exchange and it worked perfectly.

All I can say is that if you have played expert bass on the regular Rock Band guitar, this will knock you back down until you get used to it.

The fret is higher so you have to relearn where your fingers are. The double strum is tough to get used to if you have been downstrumming all the time and want to learn to use the thumb rest and upstrum with two fingers. The strummer on mine is alittle stiff so trying to use a finger on each strum made my hand tired very quickly.

The whammy knob is abit harder to use than the bar when it comes to trying to get the most out of a power-up. However, the start/select placed on a knob is a nice touch.

I have wanted this since I first saw the wired version for the XBox so I ordered one as soon as it was in stock. It started having issues almost immediately about once per song the bass would lose it's connection to the PS3 and not respond to anything for a second or two. It was too frustrating to play. I skipped madcatz customer service and told Amazon I wanted to exchange it for another one. The second one plays great.

I have noticed that it clicks more than the standard rock band 2 guitars, but it isn't too obnoxious. I really like how much easier it is to play triples and fast parts. I wish the thumb rest could be moved for use in lefty mode; I'll probably modify the bass at some point to fix that. In general it's a great fake instrument to play, I would've given it 5 stars had the first one worked.

The bluetooth part of the product is quite sub-standard. If you keep your Playstation within 10' feet you should be OK. If you go beyond 10' you'll likely have at least some connection problems. Since I exchanged my first one with only marginally better results on the second, I can only assume those who rate the product highly are close to their playstation. What a shame since otherwise Mad Catz really did a good job on the rest of the product. When in range, the sync was very accurate and the frets had a good quality feel to them. The artistic design and overall feel is excellent. The fun factor is also much improved over using the regular guitar and the double strum bar #although hardly deserving of a patent...please!!!# makes for a much better bass playing experience. So it really is too bad that all this good work is pretty much thrown out by someone deciding to use such a poorly working bluetooth connection. I don't know if the part was cheap or not, could be an expensive poorly working part, but it should have been obvious to the people at Mad Catz that it doesn't matter how great the rest of the product is if it has connection problems.

Other than the bluetooth, the only other compliant I would have is there is something in the guitar that makes a rather loud springy noise when the guitar is moved about. I doubt one could hear it over the noise of the game however.

So the bottom line is if you keep your playstation within 10', this product would be a great addition. If not, I would purchase a second official Rock Band 2 guitar instead. Not as fun for bass but I've experienced no connection issues with the Rock Band 2 guitar and it has great range.

As an avid buyer of collector's editions, I am beyond impressed with this one. The statue is wonderfully painted down to the smallest detail. This is one of the best painted statues I've ever seen based on a video game. Though it's not meant to be played with, it feels very sturdy. It's a bit heavy for it's size (maybe 4 lbs?) and the wingspan really makes it stand out. The art book is somewhat small, but the art inside is awesome. The cover is a slightly stained light blue cloth. The lithograph is nice enough quality to frame and put up on the wall. I am very happy I paid more for these extra additions, though I am disappointed there is no physical soundtrack (it's a download key, as is common these days). The music is one of my favorite things about this game.

The game itself is great as well. I am only a few hours in, but the music, the graphics, the story, the voice acting, it has all impressed me beyond all expectations. Highly recommend.

Product is awesome. Statue (which is sturdy & fairly high quality, a lot better than some of my other collector's editions) is easily displayed without even unsealing the box. Though I will say it looks even better out on a shelf. The art book, like most, has some very fascinating images ranging from concept art to screen shots. Keychain looks to be quality, though I'll personally keep it in the box. The included art print is the only thing I would consider dull, the size is just a bit too small to frame by itself. The game packaging is cool, but I personally like the inside art which makes the game case look more like its from the game.

Overall, Im excited to play through Bioshock Infinite over the next week or so. A+ to Irrational games!

Not only that, but getting the Ultimate Songbird edition, however pricey, is totally worth every penny. Firstly, to comment on the contents of the Collector's Edition...everything is VERY cool, from the artbook to the large statue of Songbird. The statue is very sturdy and is a quality piece. I have it displayed in my living room on top of my media stand and it fits just perfectly, even outside of a "man-cave". The Handyman figure is weak, and the other items such as the vigor keychain are well built, nice items if you are a big fan. For me, the entire purchase was for the Songbird statue, and I was not disappointed. Here is my lengthy review of the actual game. Enjoy!

Over two years of hype and anticipation. The wait for Bioshock Infinite was killing me…but I was willing to be patient if it meant I was going to get an immersive, story-driven experience. It's literally been years since I looked forward to a title in the way I waited for this one. Not only did the release seem to take forever, the game was delayed not once, but twice! I thought that meant Irrational was ensuring the game was quality…was I right?

Graphics

Bioshock was the reason I bought an Xbox 360 back in 2007. The intro blew my mind. The fire on the water, the lighthouse, the lighting…it all looked amazing. Bioshock Infinite never failed to capture that same wonder, as the first time I walked through the candlelit baptism scene early in the game, I literally uttered, "Wow." Infinite looks great, but the graphics aren't as ground breaking this time around because the console has basically been pushed to its limit. Artistically however, the game really rocks, as there are numerous scenes that are very memorable, from the Hall of Heroes to Elizabeth's powers later in the game. I have to point out the negatives too, and the only thing I noticed were some frame rate issues. It doesn't ruin the experience, but it's noticeable at multiple times throughout the game.

Sound

This time around the protagonist speaks! I was a little worried about the voice acting, the dialogue, and how cheesy it could potentially be, but shame on me for being a doubter. The voice acting is very solid throughout, as the voxophones serve as one of the main drivers of the story. The score is also very unique and well done, most notably the more mellow scenes, such as the arrival into Columbia ("Hallelujah.") Also, the licensed music is pretty great. I loved the old-school music from Bioshock and Infinite continues to use the same type of songs throughout the game. "Old Time Religion" at the start of the game is catchy, yet creepy given the scene, and was a perfect choice. The music intensifies when enemies are present and calms back down once they've all been dispatched, a nice touch if you ask me. Attention to detail here is obvious and Infinite's score rivals that of blockbuster movies. Keep an ear out for the awesome Beach Boys cover, along with Tears For Fears and Cindy Lauper.

Gameplay

At the end of the day, Infinite is an FPS, but adds a twist to the traditional run and gun formula of most games. Vigors (Plasmids), give you special abilities to assist in combat, allowing for multiple strategies when playing. Gameplay mechanics are top-notch, as everything controls very smoothly. Shooting, aiming down the sights, running (finally!), and interacting with the environment work very well and there's not much I could suggest to improve. There have been gameplay changes, many for the good, but others are a toss-up. Some vigors are new, and I found that mostly all of them are fun to use. Skylines are an awesome addition to the series, and really make battles intense and fast paced. I only wish there were more of them throughout the game. This time you can only carry two guns, a strange change akin to other shooters. Puzzles and hacking are gone, as are stockpiling first aid kits and eve. Instead we have a replenishing shield and salts must continually be found to refill your vigors. Are these good or bad changes…I don't really know. However, I was slightly disappointed in some weapon and gear options. Bioshock upgrades physically changed the weapon's appearance, but in Infinite they change nothing. Also, I liked the gun selection better in Bioshock, whereas Infinite seemed to strive for a bit more realism. Also, only four pieces of gear can be worn at a time, and most of them seemed pretty useless. These complaints are minor, but seemed like downgrades.

Campaign/Story

Well…I was hoping the campaign in Infinite would be amazing…and I wasn't disappointed. That's not saying it's completely perfect, but it's pretty freakin' good. You are Booker DeWitt, a man determined to wipe away a debt by rescuing a girl from the floating city of Columbia. I was in awe the first time I saw Columbia, with so many bright and vivid colors, complemented by unique and interesting environments. Due to the outdoor, sunny nature of the game, there isn't quite the intense paranoia feeling that was present in Rapture, but Columbia offers plenty of opportunities for emotional reactions. Shortly after your arrival you find the city is not quite as perfect as it looks, and your true adventure begins. I don't want to spoil anything, but for the first time in years, I wanted to play the game just to figure out how it all would play out. As the campaign progresses, things get weirder and weirder, and the conclusion of Infinite had me standing in front of my TV for a solid five minutes as everything unfolded. It blew my mind. The campaign is driven through interactive cut scenes, along with voxophones. The main "villain", Comstock, is fleshed out well and you'll also get to know many other minor characters. I wish there would have been a few more "bosses" as there were in Bioshock 1, but again, not a big deal. The standard enemies aren't as interesting since they are normal functioning people as opposed to adam injected splicers, but a few enemy variations kept things mixed up. Firemen, The Crow, Patriots, and Handymen will cause you trouble along the way. Despite minor shortcomings, this is one of the best campaigns I've ever played.

Lasting Appeal

Clocking in at roughly 10-15 hours on your first playthrough, Bioshock Infinite is the perfect length for me. I highly recommend you play the game on normal your first time and explore every nook and cranny of Columbia. It's very satisfying to find a hidden wall, decipher a code, or find extra rooms off the beaten path. Due to the nature of its ending, you'll immediately want to fire up a second playthrough when you're done. I played the game through on Normal, Hard, and 1999 mode, and was still finding new things my third time around. Each difficulty also forced me to change my play style, which was fun given the various vigor options. I can't wait for the three installments of single-player DLC that are on the way.

Overall

I will say before I conclude the review that Bioshock 1 is one of my top 5 games of all time. This could mean I have a slight bias when reviewing this title, but honestly, with my expectations sky high before it was released, saying Bioshock Infinite exceeded my expectations is the best complement this game can get. The gameplay mechanics are very well done, and although I hoped for some more minor characters/bosses, this was one of the best games I've played in recent memory. You owe it to yourself to at least play this game once.
