unit did not charge on front port out of the box... since the included instructions were of no use i thought maybe it was an inline charger (meaning that both had to be on it to charge...) i checked their website it has been under construction for all their ps3 products since at least july 08... i searched and searched to find out what the lites on the controller meant... (finally found out all 4 flashing is charging...) so i called tech support... they did have any info either on the product... had to escalate to level 2! so i get a call back same day (not bad) and answer a few really basic questions like did i try both controllers in that spot, was it REALLY dead battery before i tried to charge etc... and then yup its broken.. you can return to best buy or you can mail it at YOUR cost back to us in CANADA... now for me to ship this from VA to CANADA will cost over 15.00 even if i don't do signature required... and the item cost me 30... so that's ridiculous... going to attempt return to best buy for refund... and buy another brand altogether..

This charge station is very good looking and charges the controllers as expected. I also appreciate that it does not use up one of the USB ports on the PS3.

PROS

Sleek design

Stores two controllers more compactly than other chargers

CONS

Requires an add-on for the charging that uses the USB port. While not usually a big deal, this must be removed to sync the controller and would block any other attachments like a chat pad.

I received this PS3 controller charging dock as a gift and I've been happy with it ever since. It charges two PS3 controllers at a time and takes up little space. It's easily stored and has a cord that reaches over five feet (rough estimate).

I find that it charges my controllers completely so that I rarely have to place them in the charger. It comes with two small pieces that you snap into the back of each controller where the normal USB charging cord would plug in. These pieces connect the controller to the charger when you snap them in place on the main dock. They're small enough that I leave them attached to my controllers all the time, I don't see the point in taking them off. They don't interfere with play and blend in perfectly so that they look like they're a part of your controller (I often forget they're there).

Price-wise this charging dock is on the lower end and is worth every penny. It doesn't have any flare when it comes to glowing lights or sleek design, but it definitely does the job.

I luv always having my controllers charged. Good quality I have had no problems with it and would recommend it.

I bought this item over a year ago and its still going strong. Your not getting anything earth shattering here, but it works well and charging the controllers without the PS3 on is huge. The PS3 uses over 100 watts when active and just using it for a charge station is silly. This is a very decent setup for the money.

Ok so I was pretty down on this game when I read about it. First I have never been in CCG games(collectible card games I think?). Although I applauded SONY for the idea, I never planned to get the game myself. However because it came with the PSEYE (EyeToy camera v2) and I saw it on a pre-order sale on Amazon for 59.99, I snatched it up. It also comes with a starter pack (30 cards) and a random booster pack (8 cards) both which are worth $15 and $4 respectively. The PS EYE cost $39.99 which in total comes out close to 50 dollars in value without the game! Then you have the camera stand and the mat and you can see why this game is a steal at $60 and extremely well priced at 69.99. Of course it can add up to much more than a hundred if you're a serious card collector

Anyway so on to my story, I am still learning the game but I can honestly say I am hooked. My brain cannot stop thinking of strategies, which reminds of of the days I used to be addicted to Age Of EmpireII. A Few matches in and the whole day is gone! Its scary actually and I am afraid this game will take over and leave me no time for SingStar and Uncharted during the holidays :(

Well, I have to say this is a great little package to an addictive card game which is best played with friends. Even if you never tried these types of card games before you should give this one a try. The battle system is deep and adds randomness to card choice which will be immediately clear when you start playing. In other words don't worry too much about not having the best cards. Playing online, I have seen some crazy cards out there in the wild which may clean your wallet due to jealousy since you will be buying up crazy amounts of booster packs!

If you want to play with me my PSN Id is PistolGrip. Add me! Though I am taking two days rest from it.

As always,

Pros

+ Addicting gameplay

+ Great Value

+ Comes with the PSEye camera. You can also download a cool program called Eye Create which allows you to make some cool movie effects with the camera from your PS3

+ Great fun playing with friends and even strangers online.

Cons

Addicting gameplay, may take over free time

I had some issues with the camera reading my cards. I did a few tricks with light and placement which greatly improve this though.

Hard to find other geek friends that would play in person with you. :*(

I am no fan of Collectible Card Games with little time or patience for them. I however, desperately wanted a Playstation Eye and decided to get this pack to get it early.

I tried the game and I am absolutely hooked. I have been playing against the computer for a while and have finally started winning a bit. Have already unlocked two new packs for the computer.

I am going to dock a point overall because of the need to buy new cards. I haven't needed them as yet but I am guessing that in the future it will be impossible to win with the standard deck.

Overall, for those who haven't tried a CCG .. this is a cheap way to start and you get the Eye which is a must have for the PS3.

This is, by far, the most enjoyable PS3 game I have played. The concept is original (at least to the game consoles), the graphics are wonderful and most importantly, the thing is a blast to play. It's definitely going to be a "must have" for card game collectors (Magic, Star Wars, VS, etc.) but I think the game will ultimately do just as well with other gamers. Everyone who watched my friend and me play eventually asked, "Can I play the winner?"

The keys to this game is the depth of the game itself (learned quickly but hard to master) and the ability to play against the computer, against a friend in the room or over the Internet.

What rocks most about this game is that it will evolve as new cards are created and/or new rules are added through software updates. Now THAT is a game with replay value. The appeal of most games lasts for a few months (you either beat it or see everything it has to offer), but EYE is a game I believe most owners will be playing for YEARS to come.

I HIGHLY recommend this game to families. I love it, and my young son and teen daughter are now hooked too. How many PS3 games offer that kind of broad appeal?

Marking this so low simply for the false advertising in the pictures. This item shows it packaged with the camera and cards, however it is just the game. No camera, no cards, total waste of time.

I just received my Eye of Judgement. I have to say that it is amazing. I couldnt believe the cards are recognized immediately. If you enjoy card games like Magic I think you will love this adaptation. The idea of using and obtaining fields adds more of an element of strategy to the game. Now you not only have to think about creatures but also how and where you place them. When you play a spell the animation is great and the sound effects are so much fun. You actually feel like a sorcerer playing a spell. I know that sounds silly but believe me its an experience!

To be able to fully enjoy the game you will have to check out Muka's excellent Spirits Translation website. He put in a lot of work translating the menus and other text from Japanese into English. Many screenshots are included on his site. This is especially helpful when trying to adjust the difficulty of the gameplay. PYS has a cult following, especially among regulars on the Operation Sports forums.

Konami has designed an excellent game that combines great graphics, sound, physics, gameplay and other extras making PYS 2011 a great alternative to Sony's MLB: The Show and the MLB 2K series. The 2011 version is the last Japanese baseball game to include Yu Darvish, before he signed with the Texas Rangers. You may recognize a few former MLB players on the NPB (Nippon Pro Baseball) rosters, such as ex-Cubs Matt Murton, and Micah Hoffpauir.

This game is only in Japanese, and the only teams included are from the NPB. No MLB teams, no English or Spanish instructions either. The controls are easy enough to master.

$39.99 was a great price. Amazon shipped the game quick and cheap. This game will play on American PS3s since there is no region lock. I am satisfied with Konami and Amazon, and recommend this game, but you have to be aware of and accept the fact that this is a Japanese game.

As somewhat of a Japan-ophile, I love Japanese baseball, so this game is right up my alley, but even if I just liked baseball, it would still get five stars. The controls are the best for any baseball game I've played, and it's just a whole lot of fun.

PBS 2011 isn't for everyone, which, quite frankly, is one of many reasons I enjoy it. While in many ways it is quite similar to other baseball titles for PS 3 (I also have MLB 11 The Show), this is baseball as played in Japan. That means irrepressibly noisy, drum-beating fans in the stands; smaller ball parks; an emphasis on small ball over power; and rosters manned not by the usual American multi-millionaire jocks but their Japanese counterparts. All of this is represented with surprising accuracy, and if, like me, you are a fan of プロ野球, you'll have a blast with PBS 2011. However, note the use of kanji in this review. PBS 2011 is Japanese in presentation as well as game play. That means the commentary is Japanese (quite cool) and the text for functions and menus is written in kanji (still cool, but sometimes baffling). You can find online sources providing translations for PBS or, like me, you can jump in and learn by doing. What better way to sustain interest in a baseball video game?

As far as gameplay...you cannot top this game. So smooth. Pitching and batting interface is flawless. It is missing some depth you normally find in MLB The Show but the gameplay alone is worth it.

Want Konami PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL SPIRITS 2011 for PS3 Discount?

This is possibly one of the best baseball games I've played in a while. Being a baseball junkie, I always look for the perfect baseball game and this game is right on the money. The gameplay is pretty much at the same level as the Show (and light-years ahead of 2K) with the exception that this game isn't about MLB. There are some differences in the interfaces for pitching and hitting but nothing to get upset about. The gameplay is smooth and the pitching interface is real good. The hitting is pretty easy to get used to and the fielding is on target. The stadiums look awesome and the crowds are always into it. You may want to look up websites to help you translate the text but other than that, a very good baseball game that definitely beats most baseball games out there. I highly recommend this game. You will love it.

Each annual release of a new FIFA iteration is a bittersweet event. The FIFA series has evolved substantially over the last few years, and with evolution comes tweaks and modifications that sometime greatly improve the game, and sometimes those tweaks break a mechanic that was already working perfectly fine. FIFA 14 is no exception to this rule, and while it does take a significant step forward in some areas, it takes a step back in others.

Good changes from past years:

1.Offensive AI: Players make intelligent runs that offer a bevy of attacking options

2.Defensive AI: The physical interactions between defenders and forwards are much more realistic. Gone are the days of simply running past or around defenders with Theo Walcott or Welliton (cursed be his name). Defenders block forwards and position themselves to make tackles before the forwards can really build up speed. Most of the time.

3.Shielding the ball: Finally, you can pass the ball to a teammate and the player can shield the ball and maintain possession. Players in possession of the ball fight harder to maintain possession.

4. Player movement and acceleration: Here's a topic of debate, but I honestly feel that EA made the right call to change up how this works from past years. The first few steps a player takes are slow; players don't take one step to reach full sprint speed like in FIFA 13. Slowing down player acceleration definitely reduces the fluidity of the game, which will certainly take some getting used to.

Things EA broke:

1.PASSING!!!!! It's horrible. Atrocious. Reprehensible. Broken. It's slow, weak, and inaccurate. Even the best players struggle to complete relatively simple passes consistantly. No, it's not as if EVERY pass misses the target, but players make awful passes with far too great of frequency. FIFA 13 passing worked great, they should've left it alone.

2. First touch: This is the mechanic that adds variability to how well a player traps the ball when receiving a pass. FIFA 14 has taken this idea a little too far, to the point where players fail to control even very simple ground passes. Once again, I think FIFA 13 mostly got this mechanic right, but it simply isn't working this year.

3. Player collisions: Players from the same team trip over each other all the time; it was annoying in FIFA 13, and EA failed to fix the problem with 14.

4. Offsides: Defensive AI is better at springing the offside trap, which is a good thing. However, the result is that strikers are getting caught offisde CONSTANTLY.

As a diehard FIFA fan, I really wish I could say that I simply love FIFA 14 without any reservation, but that's simply not the case. I really like some aspects to the game, and I'm quite fond of the improvements I mentioned above. Honestly, if EA can just patch the passing system, I can live with first touch and player collisions as they are. But soccer/football/futbol is a PASSING game; if that isn't working, the game isn't working.

Minor changes

Strength is really important (poor neymar)

Speed is less important

Defending is easier

Scoring goals is harder

Ribery and Ronaldo won't be able to pass defenders just because they are faster, you have to be more tactical, ratings are a bit off rooney is overrated other great players in small clubs are underrated.

it's fifa though and no matter how much I complain, I'll end up playing it

I picked up FIFA 14 on launch day. Traded in FIFA 13 for it. After my first two games, I felt like I wished I still had FIFA 13. As a matter of fact, I had planned to spend my entire day Tuesday going hard on 14, and after two games put the controller down.

On first play, it has a different feel to it. The AI midfielders and defenders are almost like a swarm. You can't take speedy wings or outside midfielders down the line as far as you could in previous FIFA games. They cut you off. They play hard, get very physical, and just overall play better team defense.

The menu lags, like other people have posted. It lagged a little at times in 13. The menu lag in this one is worse.

I also agree with another reviewer on scouting players for career mode. Before, when you are doing a career mode as a manager, you could see what people are rated, and what their skill levels are. Now, you get not one thing about a player unless you send a scout. And your scouts skills to recognize their actual numbers vary. If my whole life revolved around this one game, I guess that would be ok. But I have a life, and a son and job, and I find this time consuming, annoying, and this was a bad idea in my opinion.

So Wednesday, I accepted the changes in my head and gave it another go. A few games into a season now and I'm doing much better and you will too if you give it some time. Like others complaining on here about passing to someone and it bouncing away from them right to the other team, I had that going to. The answer is L1. There are different variations of receiving a pass using the L1 button, with some other combinations to do more advanced things. But if you pass, as soon as you control the person receiving the ball, just simply hold L1 and they will control it, instead of it flying off to the other team. It's all right there listed in the moves/controls section of the game. I didn't know either until I checked it out.

I thought 13 was pretty realistic. 14 IS realistic. If you watch pro soccer, you have to play this video game with the strategy of a pro soccer game. It makes you realize how much 13 was like an arcade game, which wasn't my opinion until now. Like I said, if you understand soccer, play this game with the understanding of the game to succeed. I am enjoying it now, which I didn't think I would after my first two games. I will say however, that even though I am getting used to it, and all the realism that it brings, in all honesty, I liked the slightly less realism of 13 better.

Four stars. Docked a star for menu lag and this new way to have to scout everybody to find a fit for your team. I don't have time for that and it will irritate me for the next year. Please EA, don't do that again.

I'm a big fan of the FIFA franchise and this year it is very disappointing with little to no improvements over last year's edition.

Pros:

The cut scenes are improved

Player images are more realistic

Great music as always

Teams are updated

Cons:

Players respond very sluggishly to your commands.

Passing is inaccurate at times(i.e. your passes doesn't go to the desired player or direction).

Something that was fixed in FIFA 13, but is a problem again Simple passes often bounce off players making one touch passing or a "give and go" passing next to impossible.

The new menu/layout looks nice, but moving around is very frustrating. Often times your desired selection is skipped over.

In Career Mode the changes to scouting/transfers was probably a nice idea in a meeting, but in reality it is overly complicated and can be frustrating.

Overall:

If you have FIFA 13 and are happy, FIFA 14 isn't worth the $60.

Want FIFA 14 Discount?

I don't understand the line of thinking at EA anymore. The past 2 FIFA games were fluid masterpieces. Upon purchasing this I expected another great game. After playing 1 match I was severely disappointed. While the visual aspect of the game has slightly improved the game play itself is a joke. The most talented players with high ranking skills have been reduced to bumbling oafs. Even the most basic passes give players trouble. Controlling the players is a chore and smooth movements have been replaced with jerky motions and choppy play. Even the AI seems to have regressed. It is no longer about building to a climactic finish as it is about getting random lucky bounces since players don't move well with the current AI. I never thought I would say this about FIFA but don't waste your money on this year's title. Either wait for the PS4 version or seriously think about giving PES a chance. I've never played PES but if this is the best EA has to offer it may be time to give it a shot.

EA just loves to make a buck without actually improving anything anymore. Very pathetic.

battery nearly burned up my controller because of being wired backwards at the battery in a DC circuit red NEVER goes on the neg. terminal your going to get alot of complaints on this one

As another reviewer experienced, both of the batteries I received were wired backwards from the original PS3 controller battery they replaced (the red and black wires are reversed.)

It is really simple to lift up the small plastic tab on the connector, slide out the pins on the connectors, and put them back in correctly. But it would have been even more simple if these would have been done correctly in the first place. The same components on my controller got really hot, but I removed the battery as soon as I could smell something not right and my controller was not ruined.

Except for being useless as shipped, the battery is fine. Compare the connector wiring on this battery with the one in your controller before installing it.

I bought these to replace the batteries on three of the my dead PS3 controllers and as soon as I plugged the new battery in, my controller started to smell like burned electronics. Of course, I unplugged immediately. I figured that maybe it was that particular controller that was burned out. I opened another controller, opened another new battery, and got the same results that nasty burn smell.

Contacted company and they had never run into this problem, which I find hard to believe. Maybe it was my controllers, maybe it was the batteries. They gave me a refund on the batteries but I'm pretty sure my controllers are fried.

Actually, if anyone has any advice on this, I'd appreciate it. Haven't found anything online.

Make sure you check the battery before you put it in. Nearly fried my controller. Had to take the cables out of the plastic and swap them. Red is never negative. Not sure why they would do this.

After the wire swap I had the controller put back together in about 10 minutes and it worked perfectly.

Installation was a breeze, and the battery model number matched what was already in my controller (gen 1 PS3 controller). Taking off the back of the PS3 controller is pretty easy, the hard part is lining up the top buttons when you push it all back together. Paying $10 for the battery is better than buying a $55 controller! It works great so kudos to the manufacturers.

Buzz! Quiz TV was my introduction to Buzz Quiz. I fully enjoyed that game and found it to be perfect for parties, family events or having fun when I feel like playing a game that uses my knowledge against opponents rather than my virtual bullets. This year, Buzz! Quiz World has come along and instantly taken the place of Quiz TV.

Buzz! Quiz World

9/10

The Good:

+ Buzz! Buzzers are simple to use for everyone, with 4 colored buttons and a big red buzzer.

+ Slick new presentation with improved visuals all around.

+ Player Profiles allows individual stat keeping.

+ Much improved online gameplay over Quiz TV.

+ Works with all the Quiz TV Quiz packs I had bought.

+ The categories are improved and many new game types.

+ Customizeable game types allows you to pick your rounds.

+ Buzz is less repetitive in his remarks, yet every bit as cheeky.

+ Buzzers come paired to the receiver out of the box, requiring no set-up.

The Bad:

Characters from Quiz Tv seem to be absent.

Still no custom character editor.

Only features English, no Spanish or French language options.

Buzz! Quiz world does what few games can do Please all ages and types of gamers and non gamers at once. I have played an 8-player game with children, teens, twenty-somethings like myself and older adults. Buzz! managed to pull everyone in so we were all crying foul as the current winner answered correctly. It is so perfect for anyone that likes socializing.

With Quiz world, many of my complaints with the Quiz TV have been addressed. For starters, you can now customize what rounds you play. Don't like the pie round? Now you can turn it off to make a custom game suitable to the group playing. Many people I play with complain about the Final Countdown round (which now plays the titular song by Europe) and you can even cut that out. Quiz World also features several new rounds such as Boilng Point, which gives the points to the first player to answer six correct questions.

Buzz now personally addresses player by asking you to pick from a list of names. It goes a long way and makes it feel more like you really are in the game and Buzz is more than just a virtual muppet. Also, this allows tracking of individual profiles, and Buzz remembers your tendencies. For example Buzz said to Kevin, one player who is frequently winning but had fallen into 4th, "Kevin, good to see you back at the top where you belong" after he had regained the lead in one round.

It's many of these small little details that really adds to the longevity and overall fun a game offers. At the end of every game, Accolades are given. It reports who was the fastest buzzer, who had the most right answers (which doesn't always equate to a win), who had the least and who got to pick the most categories just to name a few.

For those like me who had a Quiz Tv bundle, it makes sense to buy the Quiz World bundle to finally have 8 buzzers. It comes with buzzers identical to the buzzers included in the Quiz TV Bundle. Sony doesn't seem to sell buzzer pack seperately in the US, so it is required to buy another bundle to have 5-8 players. When you do wish to use 8 buzzers, you will need to use both dongles, as each dongle supports 4 buzzers.

An 8 player game of Buzz! Quiz is a great experience, but Quiz TV had made it lite on rounds and features. Thankfully, Quiz World now allows full games for 8 players too, whereas Quiz TV only had 3 round 8 player games. This may not sound important, but it really does make the game more interesting to have it more than 3 round if you 'd like. Now you won't have 7 other people surprised the game is over already.

Another area where Quiz World shine is the online mode. You can now play with 1-4 people on the same PS3! In Quiz TV 4 people could play, but would all control the same character. Quiz World gives everyone control over their own character and allows up to 8 players to play online on multiple PS3s, or 2 if you have 4 players on each one. Of course, it still features My Buzz quizzes so you can create and share your own custom trivia packs.

The only thing I would like to see Buzz! add is more characters to choose from, or even better the ability to use PSN Home avatars or create your own character to use. There needs to be more characters for practical reasons too. In the instance that you have 5 females players or more, some will have to choose a male character. It's a minor gripe, but something they could have easily remedied by at least including all the characters from Quiz Tv. Where are Cave Girl and Disco Man?

Overall, Quiz World is much improved and a worthwhile purchase for Quiz TV owners and those new to Buzz. You will most certainly be happy with. Just remember to pick up 8 AA batteries and then go get your Buzz on.

If you are sick of watching your kids shoot people and want a game everyone can enjoy, then this is for you!

This is one fun game! The wireless buzzers are great. The format of the games are lots of fun and the characters are very custimizable. Buzz calls you by name. There are almost 5,000 questions on the disc so you will probably go for quite a while without repeats. Players can also add questions, so the possibilities are andless. Also, there are more sets of questions on the Playstation Network you can purchase.

Buzz even has online "sofa vs. sofa" so you can play against people online. Up to 8 people can play!!! Overall this game is WELL worth the money! Very fun!

We've been having our Friday get togethers for many year now and when the first Buzz game came out for the PS3, it added a lot of fun to our Fridays, but the thing that lacked was only 4 person support, now with Buzz Quiz World, if you have the previous version, you can play up to 8 people at once, which lets everyone get in on the fun.

Like another reviewer said, this game is improved in every way, there's now MANY different categories, we've played this for many hours already and are still getting lots categories coming up that we've never seen before which always makes it nice. There's a few different rounds, but I think my only complaint about the rounds would be that in 1-4 player mode, there's more round types and they're all random, but in 5-8 player mode, it's always the same rounds at the same time, which really isn't a problem, it'd just be nice if there were more 8 player rounds and it'd be mixed up a little for when your group plays 5-6 games in a row.

On characters, I love how the game now saved your character statistics and at the end of the game, it'll go through and show fastest finger, most questions answered correctly, most wins ever, etc.. Also when you start a new game, it'll use information from them in the character introductions like say "The reigning champion" or "This guy plays buzz more than me", ha ha. On the characters themselves, there's some nice additions to the cast, I just wish they would've added a few more or kept some of the old ones like the nerdy guy, afro guy, cave girl and rocker, which are no longer available. The new ones are fun though, like the old lady that drops her dentures or the guy in the lizard suit, ha ha.

Another nice improvement about the game to is that the lowest person in point total isn't always the person to pick the round, it does mix it up, like the person that drops the most in a round will pick, so you don't have to worry about the person that's always on the bottom picking every single category.

One thing I wish about the game was that there was more single player games, currently on this one, it's just you answering straight questions to get a score, which it does save and others can try to top it, it would've been nice if you could play against a couple of computer players. I guess though, that's what Playstation Network is for, you can always find someone on there to play against.

Overall, this game is great fun ! If you bought the first Buzz game on the PS3, you NEED to get this one, you'll love it. If you never tried Buzz before, this is your time to pick it up and dive into the fun.

I purchased this game a year ago for my wife for Christmas. We have only played the game 3-5 times and pulled it out to play on our new tv the other day. First game worked fine. When trying to play the second game the controllers would no longer connect. Changed the batteriess in the controllers which didn't help. It seems that the usb dongle that picks up the signal from the controllers has gone bad. No problem right? WRONG! I searched the internet high and low and could not find a replacement and after emailing Sony support, the only answer seems to be "purchase another set of controllers". That might sound easy but they are not available as a stand alone accessory either! I'm not sure what people that buy just the game without the controllers are doing. Sony says they can replace it under warranty (only 90 days!!!) but can't tell me where to buy a new usb dongle to operate the contollers. I've read that the old wired controllers from the PS2 will work and seem to be available on Ebay pretty resonable.

If you buy this game and it stops working YOU ARE SCREWED!! Here is your warning!

Great family game when it works though.

This game is fun. It's not awful but it's not great either. I think kids would enjoy this game. I enjoyed that it has many of the characters from the show with strong performances from all the voice actors. I also liked that it captures the same humor that makes the tv show good family fun. My biggest disappointment was with the graphics which make a PS3 game look like something made for the wii. Far too often the camera view is too far from the action. This game would be so much better if you could be real close to the action. Another disappointment was that the game was too short. The game play is very similar to the Lego Star Wars game but with less content. If you're going to get the PS3 version I would recommend renting instead of buying or wait until the price drops below $30. Or get the PC version instead.

When I read the first review here I decided not to purchase the game even though my son (13 years old) had downloaded the demo and loved it. However, I did decide to rent it and my son loves it. When I asked him what he likes his reply was "everything." When pressed to give specific examples he replied that he likes that you can play as so many different characters, and that missions take place between Season 1 and 2 of the show so things are new. I know he likes the fact that in the game he can use his points to purchase "hats and masks" and change his character's look. This can get quite humorous when the original slender bodies are topped by some outrageous looking hats, helmets and masks. It does make it easy to spot your character though!

He's been playing this for the last three days so I know he likes it. How does this game compare to other Star War games he has played? He played "The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels" for about 20 minutes before he announced to me that I could return it to the rental store. Thank goodness I didn't buy that. He really likes the "Lego Star Wars" games and he played them a lot when we first bought them a couple years ago--but at 13 he has kinda outgrown those versions and finds "Clone Wars: Republic Heroes" better. This game is more advanced that Lego Star Wars.

I also read a review that was criticial of the small size of the characters, but for us this hasn't been an issue. He's been playing this on a 40-inch LCD screen, so perhaps at half the size this could become an issue.

Bottom line: This is a fun game with an interesting story line and good graphics.

Look, folks....here's the deal. I bought this game because my son (3) likes to both play and watch me play the PS3 and Wii. I bought this for the PS3 and we play it co-op.

If you're anywhere close to being an adult (or teenager...or maybe even 10), then this game will likely be way too easy and boring for you. There are tons of checkpoints on each level, and if you die, you just respawn at the checkpoint (seriously...you can't go 10 seconds without going over the next checkpoint).

You play most of the levels as Jedi, but there are a number of Clone Trooper levels, too (which I think are more fun). Each level is fairly short, so it's like bite sized Star Wars. My son has no trouble playing on the normal levels, but he wouldn't be able to pass the boss levels on his own. I had to coach him through some of the controls, but he can blast and slice his way through droids with no problem.

Without rehashing what other reviewers have said, just know what you're buying. I'm giving this game 4 stars because FOR WHAT I BOUGHT IT FOR (playing co-op with my 3 year old), it's a great game. No consequences if you die, easy and it's Star Wars. If you're looking for some in-depth, engaging experience, look elsewhere.

My son and I love being on the same side in this game. This is just the right level of difficulty for a family game. I also should mention that the Prima strategy guide has alleviated frustration once or twice.

Want Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes Discount?

Well the demo was shockingly bad.

The reviews are giving the full game between 3/10 to 5/10.

The good

-It Star Wars

-They have the voice Actors

-The sound is good.

The amazing bad

-Awful Controls

-Shoot with the R stick? Really? Its like Smash TV in the 80's.

-It looks like a ps1 game played on the ps2 while looking through your own tears.

-Jedi can't die, they come back to life faster then Optimus Prime.

-Take over droids by stabbing them? Had that even worked on anything?

Do you want even the smallest chance that your kids will stab something to control it.

-Yoda tells you how to do everything, and I mean everything, short of up is up and down isn't up.

The Rant

Where is Battlefront 3 ?

Where is Rogue Squadron X ?

Where is the originality ?

Why can't any star wars game by good? Why? Whats so difficult?

A starwars fps, flight sim or RPG that you don't have to play online is badly needed.

Verdict

2/10 for creating a crappy game and disapointing us all, again.

It truly is a sad day for NFL video game fans. Way back in the day we used to have options. Tecmo and Super Tecmo Bowl for a quick and fun arcade experience, and games like Madden on the Sega Genesis for a more realistic approach.

With Madden 09 the only licensed NFL game in the world, you no longer have those options. For someone looking for a realistic and fun experience, over the years Madden has mostly satisfied that itch.

The problem is, in 09 EA focused almost exclusively in it's new animation system (that started w/ FIFA). The producers and developers will often be seen online congratulating themselves on how amazing their animation system works.

While it is true that the animations are better than ever, the problem is how this affects gameplay. This "branching animation system" means that players are no longer "cylinders" that you move around on the field with animations attached to them. In the words of EA, now when you press a direction on the controller you input a command to the player and the dynamic animation will decide what happens next in order to be more natural looking and have less of that "floating" feel of the former maddens.

They are correct, it does indeed look more natural. Unfortunately all players share the same system. This will result in Peyton Manning shucking players to the ground in the same fashion that Lawrence Maroney stiff arms. (Despite Manning having a stiff arm rating that is 70 points lower than Maroney)

The problem is another player comes in to tackle, you press the stiff arm button, the new animation system decides on the fly which stiff arm animation is suitable for the interaction, and boom. Peyton Manning is doing hip throws like Reggie White tossing around weak offensive lineman.

This problem affects not just stiff arms but every animation in the game, tackling, passing, running. Every player animates the same way, negating their stats and turning Brett Farve into the next Marshall Faulk.

Inside linebackers will leap 42" into the air and intercept passes with their backs turned.

Essentially the only stat that matters is as usual the speed rating. To make matters worse there are dozens of freezing issues, crash bugs, franchise bugs, clipping issues etc...

Once I had to watch a replay 10x over because I was amazed that the football had literally passed right through the chest of my TE to appear on the other side, and get intercepted. A condescending Chris Collinsworth can not wait to do an "EA BACTRAX" on that play and explain what I did wrong.

The problem is I didn't do anything wrong, the football phased through the TE like Martian Manhunter.

Clearly EA recognized that the game is cheap and broken, so they included the ability to "rewind" and erase any play. You can of course turn this feature off but you have to wonder why would they make a feature that allows you to reverse time in a realistic sports game?

Clearly the answer is people realized that Madden 09 is no longer a fun game, its frustrating and cheap. The Offensive line can not block the CPU pass rush and even an All Pro Left Tackle will get beat for 3+ sacks per game on All pro or All madden.

There is nothing you can do about it either. If you hold in running backs or TEs to block, they will simply miss the blocking assignment about 60% of the time.

in the real NFL if you miss a blocking assignment even 2 times a game, chances are you will get cut. In madden 09 the best blocking RBs in the game will miss 2x PER DRIVE!

----------------

Update one of the main producers of Madden has left the series. The new producers have OWNED UP to the myriad of flaws in the animation system and admitted that the reason it's broken is because they would speed up or slow down specific animations like the full back hand off, and after time everything became out of sync.

FB hand off became an exploit because it was so fast the defensive lineman would still be getting out of their stance and the FB would be 2 yards into his run. That is just one of the examples, QB drop back was broken as well, the Olineman did not have enough time to start a pocket.

So at least EA has admitted they had a broken pile of code that they had to throw away and start over with. Even tho 09 sold MILLIONS

I'm reviewing this game knowing that they've been making Madden for 20 years. With that about of time and experience, some of what is on display here is inexcusable.

Graphics: I'm not sure what everyone's talking about, but this is the same engine we've seen for the last several years.

(A)The new weather effects are decent but nothing spectacular. You will not see field degredation beyond footprints, and the snow still seems fake to me.

(B) The grass is much different. On replays, though, it doesn't look nearly as good as it does from the default isometric angle. But if you buy games based on grass improvements, by all means spring for this one. It's certainly better looking than its competition like NFL blitz or All-pro 2k8.

Audio:

(A) The commentary is almost as awful as it has ever been in Madden in the last 10 years. Hammond, the play by play guy, sounds so fake it is hilarious. You will laugh at his comments, especially when he feigns emotion at a big tackle or says WHAT A HIT. Collinsworth, god bless him, tries his heart out to be natural, and he definitely puts in a great performance. The problem is that the designers didn't properly do the commentary system. Here, Collinsworth's comments -I think every single one of them, actually -is removed from the specifics of your game. He issues way too many general comments, such as, "That's really why the d-line is important" or whatever. It SOUNDS natural but it's so hollow and disconnected from your game. Also, there are prolonged periods (like 20 seconds) where Collinsworth won't say anything. He'll miss entire plays. The commentators will even not notice if you've kicked a dramatic OT winning field goal. They will simply say "The kick is up and good. And that's the end of our game." They then send you to John Madden to literally say "Well that was close! Thanks for joining us!"This kind of commentary does not belong in a next gen game with 20 years of experience.

(B) The backtrack feature, where Collinsworth uses a telestrator to point out play problems, is a bit broken. Sometimes on the PS3 it simply does not work (Collinsworth says nothing). Other times, he will recommend you do something worse than you did [e.g. throw into quadruple coverage instead of double coverage??]. However, usually, he's spot on. The most common backtracks will involve showing a defensive mismatch (e.g. playing the run when the offense is in passing formation) or showing a mistake by the QB in the event of sack or interception (involves pointing out an open receiver that should have been thrown to). I wish he could do more, but generally most backtracks will involve one of these two things. Still very cool.

Gameplay:

(A)Glaring issues: Why exactly do play actions still not work against the PC? Why are QB sneaks still money yards? Why is bootlegging so effective? Why are slant patterns so effective? Playing against another human makes most of these non issues and is a lot more fun.

(B) At least tackling is more fluid. Fewer canned animations. More freedom.

(C)Replay challenges are broken. Sometimes you cannot challenge plays. Sometimes the booth or you will review something, clearly it will be incomplete, but they will rule it a catch. It is remarkable, considering NFL 2k5 did this right three years ago on a smaller budget with less than 20 years of experience.

(D) No changes to superstar or franchise. $60 gets you new grass but no improvement to these critical modes?

(E) The much vaunted game that adapts to you is fundamentally a bad idea. People don't play games so that all their games are always close and hard to win. This is why Oblivion failed -the player loses incentive to get better if all it does is make the AI cheat more to counter him.

Problem #1 Madden test is broken. Pass defense drill is much harder than the others, which are very very easy.

Problem #2 you can't use sliders to adjust the difficulty with it. Big problem for those who like to customize the difficulty.

Problem #3 the game just cheats to 'adapt.' If you pass well, expect your wide outs to just drop balls for no reason. If you run well, expect your all star back to suddenly fumble a ton. It's not a feature, it's a problem, and it's comical that EA is advertising it as a big improvement.

(F) Online leagues are not good. It's more like an online round robin, not organized well at all. And there's even some lag to boot.

(G) Madden moments lets you relive key moments from last season...with 2008-2009 rosters and no special presentation. Snore.

(H) In multiplayer, on the couch, when you're trash talking and having fun, you can still have a really, really good time. But then again, you can do that with Madden 08. Or 07. Or 06. Or 05. I'd say pass on this one unless you're gunning for multiplayer, in which case you'll enjoy it -but realize this is nowhere near as good as it should be.

I wrote a review of Madden 08 on here last year so I'd thought I'd follow it up with a review of this years edition. Or should I say Madden 2000.9?

Now before you pass this off as a Madden-bashing review let me give you my qualifications. I bought every version of Madden from the Genesis all the way to Madden 05 on the PS2 (which I happen to believe is still the best version of Madden ever made) and then Madden 08 last year on the PS3. I have been a Madden fan since the first day I could get my hands on a three button Genesis controller and threw a pass to an open receiver in the window based passing back then.

So first lets start off with some nitpicking and EA's famous saying, "If it's in the game, it's in the game."

Here is what is not in the game:

*Once again, EA bought up the ESPN license a few years ago and they have yet to implement any ESPN presentation into the game like 2KSports did so well before EA got the exclusive license. The absence of any ESPN presentation in EA's flagship game certainly solidifies that EA's agreement with ESPN was an anti-competitive move.

*No on-field referees or chain gang on the sidelines. Two staples of football once again ommitted from the game. Sure they added unnecessary security guards and even more players and non-player personell on the sidelines, but the most important staples of the game are not there, even though they were there in versions prior to the current gen systems.

*Instant Replay challenges of sideline catches are still ridiculous. Every year whenever I challenge a sideline catch and a receiver has one foot clearly out, the call goes against me.

*Sideline animations Yes there is a two feet in animation when you throw to a receiver near the sideline but if a WR's route takes him towards the sideline and you throw towards that receiver his animation more often than not will take him out of bounds and result in an incompletion. Unacceptable.

*Clock stopping on defensive penalties within 2 minutes of the half or 5 minutes at the end of game. I drove to my opponents 20 yard line with 20 seconds left, got an encroachment call on the defense, accepted the penalty and figuring the clock was stopped, I took my time selecting the next play, only to have the clock run out as I broke the huddle. Unless there is some new NFL rule regarding clock stoppage, this is a severe oversight.

*Stable playing surface. Where did EA get the playing surface model from? The old Veterans stadium? When viewing replays from the game, you can clearly see players feet sink below the playing surface on a dry gameday.

*NFL ice-capades. This is definitely still in the game, even with today's precision controllers. If you jump just a little with a DE pre-snap without encroaching, good luck getting him back even close to his original starting point. This is frustrating to say the least.

This so far might sound like petty griping but here is the thing, this Madden franchise has been around for 20 years now, it is the #1 selling football game and the only game on the market. These little details should have been long since addressed, yet they continue to resurface with every version of Madden.

EA is great at repackaging Madden every year with a new gimmick to make it look fresh. Anyone remember QB vision a few years ago? This year Madden IQ is the latest and greatest invention. What this IQ system does is evaluate your skill level and adjust the AI sliders accordingly to tailor the game for your set skill level. However this system completely replaces all the specific AI sliders that were available to players to adjust freely. There are some very general sliders that can still be adjusted but nothing like in years past.

I would be all for this IQ system if there was a way to turn it off and adjust multiple sliders to the specific way a player wants the game to run. Look, anyone who has played Madden for any extended amount of time knows exactly where they stand as far as skills in the game they don't need the game to tell them where they stand. Other human players will be sure to remind you of that.

What is the most irritating of this new system is you cannot adjust any sliders for an overcompensated AI. In the past I was able to tune down the AI QB accuracy and AI WR catching, especially when the AI's second string QB would complete 20 straight passes on me. The ability to adjust the sliders allowed for a more realistic simulation of the game.

Not anymore, unless you dumb down the generic sliders all the way, be prepared for the opposing AI QB to march down the field with Joe Montanaesque accuracy against every nickel and dime coverage you have in the playbook.

Now for the good:

The graphics are a nice improvement from last year. The stadium models are clean and the lighting effects are top notch. Though I think the player models seem a little more "stiff" from last year and it really often looks and feels like the players are running in mud compared to last year.

The branch animations have improved fairly well. Last year this feature was very impressive and this years crop of new animations improves on it. Well done!

The commentary is vastly improved. Gone is the radio announcer who I felt sounded like he was yelling into a tin can. And in his place is a new broadcast crew featuring Chris Collinsworth. As much as I despise Collinsworth on TV, he does an excellent job as color commentator in this years Madden.

The players models are properly proportioned for each postion.

There really is not a lot of good to report over last years version and that is unfortunately how little EA has went to inmprove the overall game experience. Madden 05 was the last year that EA truly innovated their game and brought a deeper experience to it's faithful fans. Is it any coincidence that was one the last years the 2K sports NFL game was around to push the EA team?

Next year, EA is going to have to show me something good in order for me to dole out any more money, paying for the same repackaged game. I've learned my lesson, 20 something years later....

Each year EA releases a new iteration of Madden, building on the previous year's game. I don't mind buying the game each year if the game is solid and a couple new features are added. Madden 09 is a great example of how a monopoly and lack of competition leads to mediocrity. Some key features are completely gone from the game. The accel clock option is gone, so ball control offense or realistic stats are only possible if you are willing to sit and do nothing for 20 seconds on each play. When playing on grass in the rain player uniforms get very dirty, but the field looks pristine throughout the game, though on replays the field deterioration is visible. Franchise mode has regressed, with player progression completely broken. Online play again suffers from critical glitches, from disconnects on last second field goals to a bug that allows a direct snap to the wide receiver, and automatic 5 yards on each play. Smaller problems include terrible camera angles in certain situations (on field goals the ball is often obscured by the scoreboard) and odd AI strategy. Although EA has eliminated some of the problems with last year's game, they have also introduced enough bugs and missing features to make Madden 09 a complete waste of time and money.

Want Madden NFL 09 Discount?

I didn't buy Madden 08, so i don't know what kind of 'progression' can be seen from the last incarnation. But, i was a diehard Madden player for years before 08. I bought 09 on day one. My first reaction was "WTF?"

I really don't understand this. If one had never played a Madden game before, this one might be a reasonable game. But, the designers have a terribly flawed scheme: They Make Changes Simply for the Sake of Making Changes. The design does not Evolve or Progress. It's just different each time, just so that they can market a 'new experience.' But, hey, here are the fundamentals of good design:

If something works, continue it. REFINE IT. Don't scrap it and do something different, and likely ILLOGICAL. There was a point when the menu systems and playcalling scheme were ideal. A few years ago. Things WORKED. In 09, they just don't make sense. Design is convoluted and arbitrary. SIMPLICITY, folks.

Secondarily, i was shocked to see the game animations and graphics. I have not made a direct comparison to any previous edition. But, what i see in 09 simply seems like the same or a step BACK from what i expected or what i was used to. I'm sure there are some technical advantages in the current game, and perhaps the detail and resolution is enhanced. But, the animations don't look more realistic. They seem more cartoonish. I expected an evolution toward realism, but 09 is a terrible disappointment in that respect.

I have a new 58" 1080p plasma, and i was expecting to be blown away by the game image quality when i started up 09. My previous gaming experience was on a 360 and PS2, on a OLD rear projection tv. But, 09 does not impress in any aesthetic criteria. Maybe i'm expecting too much? Seriously, on the day i first ran 09, i was wishing i could go back to Madden 07. THAT is a significant indictment of 09.

I was so looking forward to 09, as i had skipped last year due to the framerate and other issues. And, with the new hi-def tv, i thought i'd be in gaming heaven with 09. But, i am totally disappointed. I believe this has put me off the franchise entirely. I certainly will not ever buy a game sight-unseen, based only on its heritage. I should have taken some time and read the reviews.....

This game is great my only negative is that it isn't in english. If your not familiar with Gundam then you will have a hard time figuring out what to do because everything is in Japanese.

Click Here to Read More Reviews >>

Maybe one of the best games of gundam out there, the control are great, a little more complex (and fun) than most gundam games and almost completely different for each MS since there are multiple types of MS: standar, flying variable, ground variable, Unicorn and Kshatriya, each one with is own way to control it, and yes, the Unicorn and Kshatriya are so unique that they can be classified as a different kind of MS even if they share movements with other MS. The only negative point of this game is that it is incredible short, many of the "stages" on the history mode are just movies, actually, a bunch of static frames that accompany a character monologue that give more insights about them, explaning more about their personalities, motivations and feellings more in-deep than the OVAs, wich is a great feature of this game... if you understand japanese, of course; while the actual number of playable stages is only about 10 missions or so. Of course, there are other modes of play with plenty more missions -unrelated to the main plotthat give more life to the game and a lot of extra missions and MS (like the Nu Gundam, Sazabi and *gasp* the Unicorn FA) in the form of DLC, unfortunelly, one of the most insteresting missions, those that let you play the Sinanju Stein jacking, are also a DLC. All in all, it's a great but short game that could have been a lot more fun if Bandai just hadn't been so greedy putting so much content as payd DLC.
