Racing games need a wheel, and wheels need to be fixed to something steady. I missed playing racing games because the standard controllers just do not fit the bill. The good news is that the seat is allowing me to rediscover racing games.

Despite being 6ft3 200+ lbs the seat is comfortable; I can even slide my 6 year old in, and play with him steering and me on the pedals. Both the pedals and steering wheel attachments are adjustable with its max range out of the comfortable reach of my legs. If anything, they should make it work for smaller folks like my 6 year old, who cannot reach the pedals. He is 4ft, I expect you need to be at least 4ft6. The seat folds, but think twice if you want it to pack away discreetly in a tight corner; in this regard the manufacturer's photos are accurate. The only thing that I would really add are channels to enable the wires to be discreetly routed; with just 3 cables for the wheel, it still looks like a mess of spaghetti. The steering wheel attachment could be a bit stiffer, but I do not notice this when playing. They also include loads of Velcro and ties to keep things attached. Bottom line, if you like racing games, and want to treat yourself, this seat will fit the bill.

I use this with my XBox 360 wheel for both Forza 2 and PGR3. You'll never go back to using a stupid desk or fold-up table like I did after using a chair like this.

I have hard tiled floor, no carpeting, no padding. If I pay attention during transition periods between game play, the stem is a little wobbly but when I'm deep into racing and throwing my body every which way, I don't notice the wobble. I suppose if I want super solid stem, I could have paid for a $1000+ unit from a competitor. Not me! I'd rather save it for my next "necessity" ... three-panel set-up for my Forza 2! Bottom line -GREAT value ... unless you have alot of free time to make your own rig.

One more thing, the mounting bracket sucks if you have a Microsoft XBox 360 Wheel. That's because the metal mounting panel is too small for this wheel. If you don't have any wood panel scraps in your garage, you'll need to make a trip to the local hardware store ... cut yourself a 8" by 18" panel from half-inch thick particle wood board, drill a couple of holes for bolting onto the pre-drilled holes in the metal mounting panel and then use some plastic cable ties to strap in the wheel to your wood board in addition to using the flimsy mounting clamp on the bottom of the 360 wheel. Shouldn't take more than half an hour to do even if you're sub-par at carpentry skills ... I'm a geek software programmer and it was a breeze for me (but then, I was highly motivated to get the set up done so I could start racing ASAP Forza 2 in style).

---------------------

Edit (Feb 8, 2008):

I ended up getting a Logitech G25 wheel + 6-spead shifter so that I could practice manual shifting on "GTR 2: Realism Redefined" using my new gaming PC on the same LCD TV that I use for my XBox 360. Turned out that attaching the G25 wheel to the Evo mount panel was MUCH simpler than attaching the XBox 360 wheel.

The Evo has pre-drilled holes that line up with the bottom of your G25 wheel platform and your G25 pedal platform, though you will have to offset the Evo pedal panel mount quite a bit to the left (from the perspective of a sitting position) to where it's strange looking but not impractical from a functional standpoint.

If you have a G25, look into buying the additional Playseat Evo attachment for the G25 shifter. I don't think Amazon sells it ... I ended up getting that attachment from MaxWho.com.

I never drove with manual transmission in real life so I can't tell you how legit the Playseat + G25 shifter arrangement is. But a friend of mine who track races and is into the street culture scene tried it out and said it was pretty close to reality. He ended up "testing" my set up for hours ... I had to kick him out because it was getting to be past my bed time!

Buy Playseat Evolution Gaming Seat Now

I bought my Playseats Evolution Gaming Seat back in 2007 around the time that Forza 2 came out for the Xbox 360. I also purchased the Microsoft Xbox 360 wireless racing wheel. I also own a PlayStation 3 and a Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel that I have used with the seat.

I can't recommend this seat for the following reasons:

1. The included "seat" that gets mounted to the whole thing is very cheap and not even close to a real car seat. It comes "folded up" and you basically unfold the back section. Because of this, there is a metal rod that runs across right where my backbone hits the chair. Since this is a "cheap" chair, it does not have very good lumbar support and after a few races my back really begins to feel the metal rod.

2. The steering wheel mount is designed to pivot up and down, but it is very hard to get the bolt tight enough to keep it from pivoting up and down when you're actually using the seat. Occasionally you'll have to yank up on your wheel to pull this mount back into position.

3. Wheel support & Nickle and Diming. The Xbox 360 racing wheel I purchased with the seat didn't mount well and I had to hack together a solution using some foam material (craft store) and particle board. Eventually I made it work. Since I bought my seat, I see that Playseats has introduced a 360 wheel mount solution (for extra money) as well as seat rail sliders, stick shift holders, etc. For $300 all of this stuff should be included. Especially with how low quality the seat actually is.

The Xbox 360 pedals work fine w/ the pedal mount if you jam them back under the lip which causes some scuffing and wear to the pedals. The Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel works well with the steering wheel mount but there is no reasonable way to attach the pedals. I don't believe zip-ties and velcro are an acceptable mounting solution (though PLENTY are included).

4. This may come down to personal taste, but, the between the legs design results in a very flimsy, unstable feel to the whole thing.

As some other reviewers have mentioned, I also wondered if I received a "used" product. My box was very badly damaged (but everything inside was okay).

If you can pick this up for $150-200 and are willing to put some work into it (replacing/fixing the seat rod issue, welding the steering wheel mount so it doesn't pivot, etc) then it might be a decent value.

Bought two of these seats to race my 10 year old son with his old PS2 and new XBox 360 games. Both racing wheels fit nicely and seats adjust fine for me 6'3" and my son 5'. Changing steering wheels is tedious because of the wires but the seats are incredibly great. I still can't drive a virtual car as well as my son but using a steering wheel I can at least compete. Has been great father son time indoors now that its 20 degrees outside. Buying two seats seemed expensive till my wife reminded me of the cost of the XBox originally. Solid construction and they fold and dissasemble partially for storage in a closet. they get an A+ in my book.

I am a 40+ year old female who loves racing games, Gran Turismo being my all time favorite.

I use to use a Logitech Force Feedback steering wheel mounted to a small table while sitting in a dining room chair. UGH! That set up actually caused a lot of discomfort and fatigue when playing for any real length of time. My braking foot needed to hover in a very uncomfortable position and my legs just ached. Try as I may it was very difficult to mount/place everything at just the right distance and angle for any long term fun.

When the Evolution Seat went on sale for $239 thru Amazon with free shipping I couldn't resist.

Quality and comfort are both excellent and of course it makes racing even more "simulator like" than before.

The bottom of the chair (it's metal frame) is smooth and slides easily and damage free across my living room carpet, which is fairly important as it's a little too heavy to lift and move single handed. If you needed to store it you do have the option of folding the seats back down after removing the pins. You can also remove the steering and foot mounts from the center crossbar to shorten. Luckily I have just the spot for it as I do not think I would care to make such an effort.

Next is comfort...no complaints here! You can adjust the foot pedals and the steering wheel to just the right distance meaning no more foot fatigue or discomfort in my arms from overly bent elbows. The chair itself is extremely comfortable and I am 6' tall and actually eat. :)

I can easily sit for 2 or more hours and never feel the least bit uncomfortable. The seats comfort is equal to that of my Honda and exceeds that of my Ford.

If you really enjoy using a wheel with racing games then this is certain to enhance your enjoyment and realism. If you rarely play racing games with much enthusiasm then this will probably end up collecting dust and taking up valuable floor space, which leads me to measurements.

MEASUREMENTS

From the seats floor frame to the end of the pedal mounting plate is roughly 50" (this is adjustable for your height). The chairs height from floor to top (headrest) is 40" (this is stationary though the seated can fold forward). The top of the seats cushion is approximately 12" off of the ground, which places this at an ideal seating height to view my LCD TV which is placed on a TV stand. At it's widest point it is about 20".

MOUNTED A BUTTKICKER

For a little more fun I added the Buttkicker gamer to the chair. In order to mount it I made a metal X frame from 2" wide, 1/8" thick flat steel which I sandwich and bolted in between the seat and it's floor frame. In the center of that X frame I welded a 3/4" OD steel pipe with a threaded end. I of course used the pipe for the Buttkicker's mount. I also installed a metal cap to the threaded end of the pipe to keep the Buttkicker from vibrating down and off of the pipe. This is a convenient way to mount the Buttkicker and it distributes the vibrations well WITHOUT any changes or alterations to the chair or Buttkicker themselves. Now there is force feedback in both the steering wheel and the chair itself.

You get the idea I kinda like this stuff ah? :)

**** UPDATE 3 1/2 YEARS LATER ****

Oh yeah, I'm still driving my little heart out. The biggest issue I have with the Playseat is where the steering wheel support post is mounted (right between your ankles). Be aware that they now offer a Playseat Limited Edition Gran Turismo® 5 Revolution Gaming Seat where the post comes from beneath the seat, I would assume this would be a favorable change though I am upgrading to a rig that has no center post.

After moving up to the Logitech G27 (with clutch) and then to the Thrustmaster t500 I found the bar to be a real pain! If you are a heal/toe driver then this creates a problem. My ankles feel bruised after a long session using the clutch. I've hard mounted my pedals to avoid movement and must unbolt and move them depending on what I'm driving... have the post between the gas and brake for left foot braking (Rally, F1) have the post between the brake and clutch for right foot braking (using clutch).

My other gripe has been the non-adjustable pedal plate. When my foot is off pedal my foot is pulled back in an extreme angle. This creates some shin splint like pain after long races. I eventually got the MIG machine out and bent the pedal plate to a far more comfortable angle and tacked that in place.

Best product for PS3 on-line gaming. A lot of people scoff at it's high price, but I've crunched the numbers. I've used Motorola H500 (terrible), Motorola H550 (good/ above average), & Jabra BT125 (good). Besides the Jabra and Madcatz there aren't any blue tooth headsets that are cheaper. By the time you purchase a cell headset you've already spent over $60.00, this device is designed specifically for the PS3. Works flawlessly and the volume, on/ off, mute functions are the easiest to use during game play. Highly recommend this headset, if you don't get it for on-line play I'll enjoy reaping the benefits of your poor play due to a shoddy mic. Oh, and for all the jokers saying "go to e-bay, you're getting robbed in price"...buyer beware. I've been through two fake headsets that totally bent me over due to e-bay. I had to purchase straight from the store, Amazon, or CDW.

In using the Logitech Wireless Vantage headset with my PS3 over the past 6 months I'm happy with the performance of the unit though I believe that improvements are needed with the design.

First the good; the Vantage is well built out of sturdy plastics that feel "right". I've inadvertently dropped the unit on a few occasions without any problems or damage. The ear piece is comfortable enough to use during extended periods of online gaming and offers a crisp, clear sound. The microphone though somewhat short (mine only reaches to my cheek) picks up my voice while canceling most background noise. This is the major advantage of this headset; as anyone who has played online games can attest to the annoyance of heavy breathing and constant static being transmitted over games. At least using the Vantage you won't "be that guy." Another major advantage of the unit is the 12 hour battery life. While I can't say that I've ever timed the unit to see if the claim is true. I often go several days or even a week without charging the unit with almost daily use. When the unit does need to be charged, I've found that a quick 3045 minute connection to the included charger adapter is sufficient for a full charge.

A few problems with the overall design and ergonomics of the Vantage keep me from giving it a better rating. The primary problem is with the headsets actual headband. It's made of a somewhat soft, pliable plastic but is completely unadjustable. Logitech decided to rely solely on the flexibility of the plastic band. Unfortunately that could make the unit troublesome for anyone with a smaller or larger than average head. Additionally I've found that the location of the headband coupled with the weight of ear piece can become uncomfortable. That can be somewhat offset by the fact that the headset can be quickly switched to the opposite ear. Another issue with the design of the headband is that it is very uncomfortable to use with eyeglasses due to the location of the headband. In fact, I'd strongly advise anyone who uses eyeglasses to stay away from this headset.

I've read at least one review here at Amazon that claims the Vantage interferes with the Sony SIXAXIS or Dualshock 3 controllers. I'm happy to report that I've never once experienced interference of any sort with this headset. Also, besides the first initial pairing of the headset to my PS3 I've never had to repeat the process.

As I stated previously, the Vantage is a strong performer with some aesthetic and ergonomic flaws that keep it from being great.

This was everything I wanted in the headset. It is very convenient. I don't have to deal with any wire and its adjustments are very flexible. You can put it in either ear and adjust the mic lower or higher to get it closer to your mouth. Very expensive, but its still worth it if you could afford it.

I haven't heard any lag, don't have to resync the headset everytime, good audio quality, people hear me great, easy to use, great design (you can use it on whichever ear you like. logitech always puts out the best headsets...i bet this is going to be the headset for socom...thats why its not as readily available everywhere.

I was a little discouraged when I found out it was not adjustable but it allows for different positioning on your head while rotating the mic. I find that moving the band to the top of the head much like you would see a phone service rep wear is the most comfortable. I highly recommend it and hell if you don't like it then you can always return it.

If you like rockband and you like country music, you are going to like this.

One thing to keep in mind, that these are the same songs that are included in the country trackpacks 1,2, and 3 that are available via DLC. So if you don't have any this is going to be cheaper. If you already have 1 and 2, then you are much better off just buying the 3rd.

You might also like to know that there is a country 4 trackpack that is available for $14.99 which includes like 8 more country songs. And then there is also some Toby Keith not included in any of the country packs.

I think this is a great game for all those who love country music. Like any rock band game if you can't sing you get booed off stage; so if you have young kids this can get a little discouraging for them. The game has a wide variety of songs that range from old country to newer country. I would love to see another country rock band come out. This game is a little harder I think than regular rock band but still fun to play!

Don't pay any attention to the negative reviews of this one. It's a big improvement over the last editions. Simply download the updates and you're in business. I like MLB The Show, but find the graphics here, including the stadiums, just a tad more realistic. I've been playing just under a week and the improvements are easily noticeable. First off the frame rate is vastly improved. Last year I played 2K8 for all of 20 mins and could take no more. The graphics are also better than last year but I thought the graphics in 2K7 were just as impressive.

I'm still getting used to the gameplay mechanics but I welcome the challenge. I will say that I despise the total control pitching and pine for the crosshairs of 2K7 but alas I know those are history. I still use the classic pitching option which has it's own frustrations such as the constant barrage of bean balls I seem to throw despite seemingly getting the meter just right. It also makes painting the corners next to impossible. Sometimes it seems like it's throw down the middle or beanballs are you're only options, it might just be my inexperience though I'm sure more practice will make perfect. Right now I'm constantly being clobbered by the computer. I hit at-'em balls and pop ups while the CPU hits gappers and homers all day.

I haven't played online yet so I can't comment on that. I'm a casual player so I also don't care for manager modes. I just like to pick teams and play ball. Overall I'm content with this years effort from 2K Sports. There's still work to be done but there on the right track.

None of the players look like they did in 2009, or ever for that matter. And the best game I've been able to play, I lost 3-0. They make you play on Pro or better for any progress, it isn't that I am bad at the game, it's just really really unrealistic. They successfully make catches 100% of the time on the ones that a real player would fail at 100% of the time, I find myself thinking "If this could really happen, then every player would qualify for Hall of Fame".

When it comes to FPS's, and any other shooter for that matter, you have your current kings, namely: Halo, Rainbow Six (and all of it's "spawns", like GRAW) and Gears of War (still). Throw BioShock in there if you want... whatever. You get the point. Now take from each of those games the best aspects... throw them together, and you have Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Simply put you'll love this game, even if you don't like military or first-person shooters. If you're the type that strictly plays the single-player mode, then I'd rent first, just to be sure it's for you. For me, even the story mode keeps me coming back. This game is a BEAST, and it's a BEAST on every platform it's on 360, PS3 and PC.

Infinity Ward understands FPS's their absence was noticed immediately in Call of Duty 3, which sucked. They're back. This game is a few MINOR elements away from absolute perfection, in my opinion. And you don't get better than perfection.

I'll get the little gripes out of the way:

1. No Co-Op campaign. As frantic as every stage is, coupled with the fact that there's really no point on the game where you're not at least with ONE other player usually more I thought this should be available. It's pretty much standard now in the next-gen FPS's, but surprisingly absent here. Hmmm...

2. The whole 'friendly-fire' thing... I realize that this is realistic, but it's pretty frustrating sometimes moreso here than in a game like Rainbow Six, simply because there's no easily identifiable icon or marker. I don't need THAT level of realism in a game just my opinion. Yes, your recticle is red if it's on an enemy and green for a friendly, but during all of the fighting, that's really hard to see. Coupled with the fact that a lot of the enemies are wearing uniforms pretty similar to YOURS, you may end up accidentally shooting your squad more than you'd care to admit, especially on the Veteran difficulty level.

(That's really it for the 'gripes' the other is more of an personal preference for me. I'd rather have more gameplay modes available in the multiplayer right off the bat, but I can also see how starting off with just the initial two works.

You may notice that I haven't complained about the duration of the story mode... while short, I doubt that any of the other reviewers that are slamming it have "breezed through in a few hours" on any difficulty higher than Sick Infant that's before Rookie, if you're wondering. The story is compelling; there are actual moments where your chest and heart actually POUND tell me the "All Ghillied Up" stage didn't have you holding your breath in real life, I dare you. Other games, while significantly longer, don't always fill their time with substance. A game like BioShock doesn't have an online mode, so it's story HAS to carry it entirely. Halo 3 is longer, sure... but most of it is retracing your steps back through previously played boards. No thank you. Apart from an effective story mode, this game's "bread and butter" is in the online multiplayer. Just like Halo 3. Just like RB6: Vegas. Just like Gears of War. Online play is what will keep this game, and others, being played for years to come.)

...and that's it, folks. Nothing else bad here. AT ALL. Period.

Gameplay the game is phenomenal. Even if the campaign is rather on the short side (took about 6 or so hours playing on Normal Veteran or Hardened will probably double that time, plus some) it is undeniably entertaining. While it may not necessarily be breaking new ground as far as plot, it STILL is far more engaging that Rainbow Six: Vegas's campaign mode, which is great, as well as Gears of War and even the mighty Halo 3. (just my opinion) (A+)

Graphics arguably the best on any console, period. I give it the nod over Gears of War and BioShock this is the best looking game I have ever played, and it runs (with all the chaos going on) at a smooth 60 frames per second is 1080P HD glory. The word gets thrown around alot with these newer systems, but this game is truly Photo-Realistic. The only thing I've seen comparable would be Crysis, another military shooter -and that's (not surprisingly) a PC-only game at the moment. It absolutely does not get any better than COD4. (A++)

Sound as good as anything out now. The musical numbers are all spot-on, and the dialogue and combat chatter is phenomenal. Top notch all the way around no "forced" sounding acting here. This games sounds like it was recorded during actual combat. (A+)

Multiplayer time will tell if it will stand up to the insanely deep Halo Multiplayer mode, or the ridiculously addictive multiplayer modes on GoW or RB6, but even in this early stage COD4 is more than holding it's own. Choose from a preset variety of classes sniper, assault, heavy gunner, etc. and get to killing. Kill enough and eventually unlock the ability to create your OWN class and that's where the fun really gets going. There's a rank structure, but with there being absolutly ZERO offical multiplayer achievements, hopefully this will minimize people's tendency to cheat. (big problem on RB6) Ranking up does have it's privileges, however... different weapons, customizations for those weapons (scopes, skins, etc.) How new players feel about playing months from now when the majority of their combatants have superior equipment remains to be seen... balancing could be an issue there. The way it's set up though, if you're good at FPS's (and you know who you are), you will be alright. There's some work to be done with the team balancing... and I would prefer the ability to choose which maps I play on during ranked matches, but all in all, pretty solid. (A)

Replay Value extremely high, even with a relatively short campaign. All of the achievements for the game come from the Campaign mode, yet over half of them require you to beat the game on one of the two harder difficulty levels. (not recommended for first-timers frustration WILL ensue... as well as bullets, grenades and dog bites) Hell, even the TRAINING MODULE is fun and gets replay Halo can't say that. This game is ridiculous. Even as varied as multiplayer is by nature, the Prestige Mode adds a new level to it. Make it all the way to Level 55, then you have "a tough decision" to make... (A+)

Overall Dangerously Good. I give it an A+, or a solid 9.9998 out of 10 (I stand by the fact that a co-op campaign would render a potential Call of Duty 5 pointless) This is one of the best games ever. After playing the Beta earlier this year, I proclaimed that this could be a sleeper for Game of the Year, while everyone else was obviously sold on Halo... maybe a few for BioShock. This has them both, hands down. The only surprising part is how convincingly better this game is than the other GOTY frontrunners. All other FPS's (particularly military FPS's) need to take notice this is BY FAR the best ever. (Note to Tom Clancy and the folks at UbiSoft: you have work to do for that next Rainbow Six. The bar is WAY up there now... don't disappoint)

A definite must own, especially for online players this is the best for this year. No not Halo Call of Duty 4. Period. The only thing I see that could pull people away from this even for a moment would potentially be Grand Theft Auto 4.

From the moment you turn this game on you are swept into a reality that is all to similiar to what is going on in today's world. The storyline is something you have probably heard before on the news. Out of control regimes in the MidEast and potential anarchy in the old Soviet Union. The two factors make for a very intense game. I don't even know if game is an appropriate title for something so realistic. Your mission is to stop a rogue government from getting their hands on nuclear weapons. Obviously a big challenge for anyone.

If you have played previous Call of Duty games you know the quality that goes into the gameplay. Never overly to difficult for a first timer. Much of the combat is very similiar to previous COD games. The objectives are always short enough to keep the player involved. What sets this Call of Duty game apart from it's previous incarnations is the amount of realism that has gone into it. The graphics and sound are so real that you could almost think your watching a movie....Actually more real than a movie. The only thing that may be lacking in this games single player missions is the lack of co-op play and the overall shortness of the game. Most will have it completed under six hours. Of course you can always give it a try and a more difficult setting.

The online multiplayer is amazing. To say the least I didn't expect it to be this intense. From the moment you start an online challenge you are thrusted into battle. The game seems to keep the online working in such a way that it seems incredibly realistic. What I also enjoy about the online is that it allows you to rank up rather quickly but you must have enough skill to be an asset on the battlefield. Online there are numerous different missions that keep the game extremely fun and fresh. Although you won't have access to these challenges until you prove your abilities. What also keeps it fresh is the ability to gear your soldier differently as you advance thru the online. This game will definatley have people playing for many, many months.

If you enjoy shooter games and most importantly like realistic war sims then this game is for you. The graphics are amazing, the environments almost look too real, and the sound sets this game apart from others that have flooded the field. If you ever wanted to have an idea of many of the challenges that today's soldiers have to deal with then you need Call of Duty 4. This may possibly be the game of the year.

Buy Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Now

Call of Duty 4 is a really fun game with extremely intense battle sequences. The downfall is that you can only play in single player mode unless you want to do/are set up for online play.

In single player Campaign mode, you're a first person shooter (soldier) on the frontlines, and primarily you're playing two separate, interlacing missions as two different characters. You also play a cool, flashback side story as a sniper in a ghillie suit (camouflage clothing). But mostly you play in current times with a team of characters that are truly your band of AI brothers; the help you might get from your team is based on the difficulty setting you've chosen.

You arrive in boot camp just like in Call of Duty 3, and you get a brief tutorial on how to maneuver around, shoot your weapon & throw grenades (you'll be using smoke, stun and explosive). Then you're immediately strewn into various battles.

You fight your way through some intense chapters. The weapons are much more sophisticated than the ones in WWII era CoD3. It's the present in CoD4, and you're mostly shooting whichever modern-day weapon you happen to have picked up (mostly from dead soldiers on the ground) along your objective route. Your objectives that guide you along are updated regularly as you complete each task throughout each chapter. And some of those tasks are brutal.

Perhaps the best feature of the campaign mode is the frequent checkpoints. I think I remember even reaching new checkpoints without firing a single shot in CoD4. Contrarily, in Resistance: Fall Of Man, sometimes I'd be playing for like 20 minutes only to get killed and respawn back before what seemed to take an eternity to complete. Not an issue in CoD4.

There are some areas where the AI won't let you clear an area of enemies no matter how hard or well you fight; the AI will keep sending enemies at you until you get to a checkpoint. That was a bit confusing until the realization dawned on me that my AI brothers and me were just not going to take down everyone in some areas.

No matter which chapter you're in you are mostly using your primary weapon (some kind of machine gun) that on some models has an effective grenade launcher attached. You'll also need to engage in some exhilarating hand to hand combat (with dogs!), you'll need to guide air support, attach and arm explosives to enemy stuff, use night-vision goggles, and man other stationary weapons. There was no driving necessary in CoD4 (unlike CoD3).

All of the chapters are really fun. Some of the chapters are really difficult, and some like I said earlier feel like I did nothing in order to succeed. I think that the easy chapters are designed more to challenge you to correctly navigate yourself and your team to the correct objective, but that doesn't require a lot of effort if you just follow the on-screen compass.

On-line play is a different world. No AI brothers here...just your fellow gamers. You'd better have your FPS skills honed if you think that you'll beat some of the CoD4 online players. Man, I stink so bad I'm getting meleed to death by these guys before I even fire a shot. But online play is truly addicting. The more you play, the higher you rank allowing you to unlock more (fine tuned) weapons....Just wait 'til I get my hands on some of those, all you online vets!

So all in all Call of Duty 4 is major fun, but like I said earlier, the biggest drawback to this awesome game is that multiplayer mode is only available with online play. (No story co-op...not even on-line). Co-op worked terrific in Resistance: Fall of Man....Why I wonder couldn't it for Call of Duty 4? Hence, that is the only reason why I've deducted a star from the overall rating, but by no means do I suggest that anyone with a PS3 miss out on this super-fun game.

Add it to your cart, soldier!

First of all, this is a fanTAStic game overall with outstanding realism. As a licensed gun dealer, former law enforcement officer, and former US Army infantry, I can verify that this is as real as it gets. Five Stars for game play, realism, sound effects, ballistics, etc., etc.

The only problem for me was the complete lack of any documentation, gaming guide, manual, etc. I'm admittedly a newbie to PS3 gaming. This is my first, and I am handicapped by not being born with a PS3 controller in my little hands. It takes a lot of practice to move and shoot with the required fluid and instinctive motion (not in real life, but with a PS3 controller). I could find no game information on the DVD, in the packaging, or on the Activision or Infinity Ward web sites, something I think is inexcusable.

Thank heaven there are game sites that have great information, but mostly directed to strategy and cheats. What a newbie like me needs is basic information about the game and what to do in general.

To the rescue is the BradyGames Official Strategy Guide. It provides invaluable information to a new player like me and great strategy and intel info that can lead to bonus features, a great advabtage to even the hard core gamers. The strategies and some intel info are available for free on some of the web sites, but it's nice to have a hard copy to pick up while the game is paused to figure out what the heck is going on. A great value for about $15 but something the publisher should have provided with the DVD.

I've read that some players were disappointed in how short the game is. That may be true for a dedicated and experienced gamer, but for me it took over two months of playing an hour a day to complete the game, so if you're not a full time gamer, the program should prove to be quite entertaining and quite a challenge, even at the Recruit level. At the rate I've been going it will be years before I can play at the Vetran level, so a great value for $59.

The wheel is ok if you are not totally dedicated to the racing games, otherwise it lacks the precision necessary to feel connected to the game. For example the gas pedal has so much back pressure on it, that it is impossible to run (at a steady pace) the posted speed on pit road. On the track where precision is less important both the steering and pedals work fine. I am using it on my PC with older EA Sports NASCAR games (just for fun) and it is ok, but for the guy truly dedicated to the games there are better options. As of now I have not managed to get it to work on my PS-3 but I will keep trying. Give it 2 1/2 stars.

I am a corporate trainer and I purchased this to run with a driving simulator (not a game) for the company I work for. I'd give the quality and construction about 7.5 out of 10, which is pretty good. It worked flawlessly and effortlessly with the simulator, so in that respect it gets a 10. I would recommend.

lots of trouble installing and the provided booklet has very little information. Contacted customer service many times and don't get any good answers to questions, just a general runaround. It's as if they don't have the foggiest idea about this product and don't care to be helpful. My advice....BUY A DIFFERENT PRODUCT!

Buy Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (Best Buy Limited Edition) Now

Here's what we start with: Zombie apocalypse caused by illegal biological research. The company responsible sends in a crack team of specialists to eradicate all evidence and silence all witnesses. There are no saints among this crew, all are in this for their own twisted ends and don't care for mercy, compassion, or ethics.

Sounds great, huh? HOW DID CAPCOM MESS THAT UP????

The AI is so stupid that it wanders directly in the middle of your fire not once or twice, but EVERY TIME. (Nothing new there and in fact this is a notorious capcom design decision forcing you to play with a human and hopefully sell more copies that way.) Also, half the time it forgets that it has a weapon equipped or that you gave it a healing item and will REFUSE to fire at enemies or heal itself rather than dying. This isn't complicated this is so basic I learned it at my high school programming class!

Silence witnesses? Never found a one. Oh, there were opposing humans like other Umbrella corp employees (WTF?) and characters from other games who met their demise in those games, thus you know right from the start that A: This guy is invincible for some reason. B: His entire purpose is to fire on you relentlessly as you deal with never ending waves of zombies to achieve an objective that frankly your character wouldn't waste his time on. C: You should have bought any other game.

Let's talk about the first mission out of the gate. Break into an umbrella facility, destroy it, retrieve evidence and kill everyone there. EVEN YOUR CHARACTER ASKS RIGHT OFF THE BAT WHY THEY DON'T JUST PICK UP THE PHONE AND ASK FOR WHAT THEY WANT. Hello? You're pointing out why this makes absolutely no sense! These guys work for you. Just tell them to have that stuff ready for pick up, why would they care? They're mercs and YOU SIGN THEIR CHECKS!

Oh yeah and apparently people developed superhuman abilities when you weren't looking because, even on easy, they take about a dozen shots to the head to kill. There is NO hit detection specific to body part, which is pretty much an industry standard and a standard to the RE series since game 1.

All that excitement to finally play the bad guy for once and you're still fighting zombies, all the enemies from RE 2 & 3, the nemesis, Did I miss something? I'm on your side guys!?!?! I could understand fighting the mutants but come on Nicholi, do YOU even remember your motivation? You're killing off the other team leaders/teams to get the bonus for information gathering. This is the team you would hand that stuff to in order to get the bonus at all. If you kill the team of elite specialists sent in (that have no interest in stopping you) do you really think Umbrella is just going to cut you a check? Oh and his master plan to kill you? Zombies........with bombs taped to their heads. Why green light that? It's the stupidest thing I've ever HEARD of, now imagine somebody trying to pawn that off as a credible threat. I saw that on my first play through and died because I was too busy laughing at how absurd the whole thing had gotten, I mean the series not just this game.

I pray for the day they finally give me a zombie game that actually takes the intelligence of it's audience seriously. This wasn't just a slap in the face by the industry or by capcom specifically, this was like a middle finger in your face while stealing your wallet. Then you get home and find out that capcom broke in and stole your couch for good measure. Well, I played it, I beat it, and even completed all the pointless grinding annoying trophies on the list, then destryed the disc in a flash of vengeance.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't recommend buying this game.......I need to lie down....

The charge cable that I received was not even the one shown in the picture. If you look at the cable in the picture and the one that came with the PS3, you will notice they both have that bulb at the end. The cable I received did not have it. Thew reason I ordered it was because it looked like the one for the PS3. The cable I received was just a regular USB cable, and it wasn't even 6 ft. long. Could have gotten a USB cable cheaper than this.

The PlayStation 3 controller has gotten a lot of press because of its lack of vibration. However, it is wireless, extremely light, and has tilt sensors in it. This seems a great trade-off during gameplay.

First, let's get through the "bad" that many people have gotten upset about. They took out the rumble controller from the PS3 controller. This was for legal reasons a company which developed that rumble technology took issue with Sony using it. Some people feel it really affects gameplay not to have that rumbling.

I have to admit that I am VERY happy, personally, that the rumbling is gone. I always turned off the rumble in games where I could. I am on my computer pretty much 24 hours a day, and if I play a game with rumble on, it *kills* my wrists. If you're a rumble fan, this is a decision you'll have to make for yourself.

Now, to the good parts of the controller. First, they all come wireless for the PS3. I *love* love wireless. Wires cause huge clutter in our living room, with all our systems and equipment. You only have to plug the controller in to power it up. It's a regular USB power-up so you can use your iPod's plug (assuming you have an iPod) or plug it into your computer or XBox 360 or anything else with a USB on it. That is to say, you don't have to power it up from your PS3 if you don't want to for some reason.

Next, it is super light! I imagine this is because it doesn't have to hold the motors that cause rumbling. I really appreciate the lightness. You might not notice if you only play a game for an hour or two, but if you're doing marathon sessions of multiple hours, the weight of the controller really does begin to matter.

Just like the Wii controllers, this controller has a tilt sensor in it. It actually knows when you tilt and turn the controller, or shake it. Depending on the game, you can use those tilts to look around or to shake off an enemy. That really gives you much more interactivity with the game, much more than button pushing.

The general controller shape is exactly the same as the PS2 controller. You have a pair of shoulder buttons on each side, two joysticks, four buttons on the right and four directional buttons on the left. There's a PS button in the center, just like there's an XBox button in the middle of the Xbox 360 controller. Also, there are four lights on the unit, to let you know if this controller is #1, #2, #3 or #4 if you are playing multi-player games.

The center PS button lets you turn the unit on and off, which is great if your console is off in a shelf or corner of the room.

In general, I think they did a great job with the PS3 basic controllers. The main console sale both for 20 and 60 comes only with one controller so be sure to get yourself a second one!

Here's a wireless controller that doesn't feature vibration feedback. That's a first. Both Microsoft and Nintendo have made vibration standard on there controllers. What Sony does different is add motion control. Actually the controller can sense six different movements. Although this is not a feature that really sells me. I was skeptical of this pad because of what was missing. And using the Dual Shock controller for nearly ten years I knew what to expect. Finally getting my hands on one of these I was able to tell all the differences. For one Sony has made it much easier for people to not have to get up every time they want to turn the PS3 on or off. That is what the PS button is for. Secondly they have changed the L2/R2 buttons and made them triggers. These triggers take getting used to. Generally the L2/R2 or what was referred to as shoulder buttons were rarely used. Except maybe in a shooting game. Now these triggers have a starring role in racing games. For many years I have been accoustomed to the X button representing throttle. Now it's R2 in many racing games. After using this paddle for several hours I have realized how much more I enjoy it. It's is quite light. Only a few ounces and makes it easy to use for hours at a time. I have also noticed how well the battery stays charged. Even after five days and twenty plus hours of use it still has two thirds battery power. I have used the 360 controller and the Wii mote and have found this is the most comfortable to me. Right now vibration doesn't make much of a difference for me and motion control is useless. I just enjoy the feel and really that's what's important when playing games for hours.

Sony's controller has it's good and bad. Good news first, one thing I like about it is the super light weight...by far the lightest controller I've ever owned. It also is now wireless. You can also turn on and off the console with the "PS" button in the middle. One of the best features is the new SIXAXIS motion feature. It makes game playing interesting. For example, you can literally steer your motor vehicle by moving the pad left, right, up or down in the game Motorstorm (demo). We'll see how developers will use this feature in future games...but so far so good!

There are drawbacks to the controller. For one, there is a usb cord that comes with the system and controller...what's disappointing is that the usb cord is so short maybe about only 5 feet long. I'm not sure if they include they usb cord if you buy the pad individually. However, I guess Sony expects gamers to sit right up to the tv when playing or charging the controller because of the short cord. I had to add an extension since I am about 10 feet away. But you won't use the cord so much because it charges pretty quick and battery lasts a long time before it needs charging...maybe up to 30 hours?

Another negative is that the L2 and R2 buttons feel awkward. Sony tried to make this into "triggers" but still keeping it's controller pad form, causes strains with some games. For example playing Need for Speed Carbon and holding the R2 trigger all the time, your fingers will slip when it gets moist. The least Sony could of done was make the buttons more rubbery for more grip or design the trigger so your fingers won't be slipping off the button.

Other than that, the controller is pretty simple and with the motion sensor makes it different from the past ones. I would of still preferred the "boomerang" type controller they had in mind, but the SIXAXIS isn't too bad of a deal....

This controller works great. It is lightweight, holds a charge for quite some time, and feels fantastic in the hands. I also have an Xbox and every time I pick up this controller I remember how well it fits in the hand. The lack of a rumble effect is the only thing that keeps it from getting 5 stars.

Want PlayStation 3 Wireless Sixaxis Controller Discount?

Why would Sony ever think of changing the design of this controller? It's been the best designed controller for more than a decade. Sony originally thought of changing to a new sleeker looking controller for the PS3, but thank God they changed their minds. Still great to hold.

Yes, there's no rumble. I don't care because I always turned off the vibration on the PS2 controller, so I don't miss it. I'm not sure why the PS button is red in that picture because mine does not illuminate at all. The Sixaxis is cool to have but will take some getting use to.
