This game is unlike anything I've ever played before... it certainly isn't perfect, but it's unique, visually splendid, and probably the most daring effort at a big budget title that this generation of consoles has seen. It had me laughing throughout (it's extremely funny... not always by design, I suspect, but that's beside the point). Oh, and did I mention that it's UNIQUE?

If you're looking for something different, this is it. It's not like "God of War", it's not like "Bayonetta", and it's not like "MGS". It's just... bizarre, weird, and downright quirky. In a good way, in my humble opinion. However...

DO NOT buy this game if you can't stand QTE (Quick Time Events... the timed button presses made popular by "Resident Evil 4" and "God of War"). QTE... there's a LOT of it in this game... undoubtedly a world record, as a matter of fact!

Also... DO NOT buy this game if you can't stand anime... we just might be looking at another world record here, boys!

Finally, DO NOT buy this game if you're not willing to accept the fact that there is a relatively small amount of hands-on gameplay.

The story is entertaining (and hilarious in its absurdity, as I mentioned earlier), and I really didn't mind all the cut scenes and non-playing portions, because the presentation of this game is so outstanding. I'm not a huge fan of either anime or QTE, but I was able to overlook their enormous presence because this game is just so unique. Developers in the gaming industry need to be more innovative, more daring, and less fearful of failure. This willingness to tread uncharted territory is what's required for the industry to grow and evolve. "Asura's Wrath" is a perfect example of a developer (and the publisher... hats off to Capcom for supporting this project) taking chances, and pursuing a fun idea that they're passionate about. Every aspect of this game is filled with HEART.

If you're not sure if you'll like this game or not, just download the demo from PSN or Live. The demo is very indicative of the entire experience... that experience being a very unique insanity :D

Update on 6/23/12: Went back for another go-round, and this game still makes me laugh and smile. Love it:)

Long time gamers, remember the time a few games tried to be different, Wolfenstein was made, and spawned the whole FPS genre?

Yes, being different is a good thing. And I appreciate what the makers of Asura's Wrath is trying to do.

A simple summary for the game: The setting is old world gods mixed with Sci-Fi. The story is about a demigod cast away who vows to make things right his way. Gameplay is nothing like what we are used to. It is an action adventure with shooting elements and a large amount of violent melee. Asura does not have a health bar, but the player aims to fill the rage bar so as to perform a finishing move to proceed. A lot of QTE or PDE (player dependent events) is required.

It is not what everyone is used to. I hear comparisons with God of War a lot but besides the rage, nothing else is similar. The player does not have health bars and magic points. That is why most players get angry and make a bad review or comment. And players who do not like QTE would not like this at all.

The game is simply for fun. It has a lot of anime style cutscenes in between. It is humorous.

The only regret I have is that there is not enough gameplay and it is over too quickly in 6 8 hours.

Discounting people who hate asian mythology, anime, QTE and playing something different, this game is made for the small percentage of gamers who would find this game fun. The majority who are used to major mainstream titles will find this very unappealing. So try the demo before buying. Chances are you may not like the game, because honestly, you are probably part of the majority.

Nevertheless, this game is original, well-made and entertaining. Hence the 5 stars.

Some may argue that Asura's Wrath is not really a "game," and instead just an interactive movie with a series of quicktime events. Whichever side of the fence you're on, you cannot deny that Asura's Wrath is a crazy, over the top, and magnificent experience that will surpass any expectations you had and leave you in awe.

The game is divided into "episodes," in an interesting way that really does feel like you're watching an anime, complete with the pause where the commercial break would be, and a fully narrated preview for the next episode. Each episode takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, so you can take a break between each one to absorb the material, or just power through like a marathon or a traditional game.

The gameplay has you running around an area and fighting enemies with a relatively simple combo system, and utilizing your special heavy attack at the right moment to build up your "Burst" gauge to advance the game and play the next cutscene. The real beauty of Asura's Wrath is once you "burst" something crazy is ALWAYS going to happen. If you've played the demo, getting crushed by a boss the size of the earth and getting speared through with a sword as long as the diameter of the planet are just tips of the iceberg. The button-prompts are also really good at emphasizing the actions and getting you into the story, in a way that doesn't make you roll your eyes and sigh heavily.

The only thing holding me back from giving Asura's Wrath 5 stars is the DLC. Hiding the true ending, which you absolutely HAVE to buy, behind DLC is a really scumbag move on Capcom's part. To make customers pay an additional $7 for content that should've been on the disc is a shady move that casts all publishers in a bad light. However, I must stress, that the true ending is extremely worth it and I encourage everyone who buys Asura's Wrath to buy the DLC as well. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

If I had to summarize this game with one sentence: Its like Dragonball Z + Gurren Lagann on steroids.

First, this case does fit the "fat" PS3. I wasn't clear on that when I bought it, but it certainly does so it is perfect for me. I hauled the PS3 around in its original box for a long time, but the handle finally broke while I was carrying it. Luckily nothing broke. This case is definitely sturdy so I have no worry about that. The system fits snuggly inside and there is a strap inside to hold it as well.

The pouch on the front can hold a couple of items. I've found that I can fit the power cable, HDMI cable, one controller and one game inside. There are different combinations of that (two controllers, one game, etc.), but the point is you cannot carry a whole lot inside. The option I will exercise is putting the two cables inside the main area with the console to get a little more room, but I will inevitably have to carry other stuff outside the bag.

There are actually 16 slots inside the case to stick disks in if you want to transport them that way. I prefer to keep disks in their proper cases.

Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it. However, I would design the case differently to allow more carrying room because anyone who is transporting their system most likely needs more room than what is provided.

In 2001, just a year after the Playstation 2 launched, a small gem of a game dropped down called Devil May Cry. The game was originally conceived as another Resident Evil but went so far off that it became it's own thing. The result was a revolutionary game that helped reshape gaming and redefine a genre for quite some time. While Devil May Cry isn't always remembered for that now the point is simple: In 2001 we simply hadn't seen a game like it. It was fluid and smooth. It had great action and cheesy one-liners. But most of all, it had stylish combat, the likes of which had never been seen in a video game before. The original Devil May Cry came out at the perfect time. Not so far into the PS2's life to be too big of a ripoff, and early enough that it could be considered innovative because no other game COULD have done what it did before it.

Let's be frank, most of what Devil May Cry is remembered for is hardly the story. In fact, until I popped in the HD collection I had pretty much forgotten what the games were about. The only thing I remembered (as I'm sure many people who played the game just over ten years ago remember) were the crazy moves in combat, the cheesy one liners and the incredible effects you could watch. Who doesn't remember watching the opening scene of the original Devil May Cry for the first time? It's laughably cheesy and then you feel content because it's supposed to be. This was our introduction to the game. By having a girl ride in on a bike and then immediately attacking our protagonist by impaling him with a sword before throwing the very bike she rode in on at him... to which he blast it away with his gun and it explodes. This was the make it or break it moment. If you could go along with this ridiculous action you were going to be rewarded. If it was "too much" for you then you were not likely to dive in beyond that. It's a great opening cinematic because it perfectly illustrates what Devil May Cry is. The story isn't what's important. It's the style, the action and the gameplay.

And for the most part it's still fun. All three games play rather identical. The first one is a charmer, but the real show here is definitely Devil May Cry 3 more so than the other two. In fact, because of how things are set up, even newcomers can jump into the third first seeing as how it takes place before the first game. The combat in all of the games is rather simple and yet... still complex. You have an assortment of weapons to use (although most times you'll be using a sword) where you can perform combos or hit enemies into the air and blow them away with your guns. You can perform special moves or go into Devil Form where your abilities and defenses are improved. It's an interesting system. The monsters which attack you throughout the games are fierce. And as you tackle them you generally hear heavy metal music in the background. You've got guns, tricks, juggles and a lot of variety. Your moves are ranked as Dull, Crazy, Bravo, Awesome and Stylish to give you a sense of how well your doing. When you dispatch enemies they drop red orbs for you to use as currency to buy even more crazy moves. Devil May Cry was, in a way, ahead of its time. Still using some of the same things which came before it, but using all of it to provide so much variety for the game in and of itself. Variety that still serves as a strength today.

Make no mistake, however, these games are tough. They included the Special Edition of Devil May Cry 3, for those wondering. Primarily because including the original I'm sure would've rekindled memories of pure frustration for some gamers. Regardless, all three games are fairly tough. They're unforgiving at what they do. If you need a moment to readjust to the controls the game is likely to give you a rough start.

Devil May Cry 2 is perhaps the one that has aged the worst out of all of them, and it's mostly because it already had a lukewarm reception upon release. The game felt like a step backward. It was not only easier, but it was shorter and didn't feature nearly as much creativity, detail or even some of the cheesy action we'd come to see. The combat wasn't bad, though, but it's often considered the weakest of the trilogy by fans.

The third one, however, is by far the best of the lot. And because it's the Special Edition you get all the extras of the special edition. Likewise, the third game just has the best flowing combat of all three games. Not to mention a few interesting tweaks that give Dante four different styles to go into each mission as. It's overall the best experience.

I'd actually recommend playing all three. Not only do you get to experience gaming history but you can see how these games really helped to shape and influence the action games which came after it. That being said though, you also can't help but notice how dated some of Devil May Cry is. As good as these games are, gaming has progressed quite a bit since then. The first and most glaring issue is that the camera angles really get on ones nerves. The fixed camera angles are going to mess you up. You're going to miss a couple of jumps because of some of the camera angles. With no control given to the player and some strange angles you're more apt to mess up some good timing. Likewise, some of the awkward camera angles can screw up with how you're actually moving. You'll be running away from the screen only for the angle to change and you're suddenly running toward the screen instead which will sometimes cause you to do a weird awkward turn around before pressing forward. Simply put, Devil May Cry doesn't control as smoothly as it used to.

Some of the controls can throw you for a loop for a brief moment. For example, in 2012 most of us who play a game that involves using a gun in 3D space are used to pressing one trigger to raise the weapon and the other trigger to fire. Devil May Cry has you press one trigger to raise the weapon, but square to fire. You'd think this wouldn't take time to readjust to... but it actually does. It doesn't keep you out for very long, but it sort of provides an idea for just how much even some of the basic foundation of control schemes have changed. At the very least, however, Dante always locks on to the nearest target automatically and there's no need to make sure you have enough ammo. Dante's weapons never run out of ammo.

These aren't huge issues by any means. They're merely what you'd call "state of the art." This was just how a lot of video games were when Devil May Cry came out. None of that is changed here, although you do wish that at the very least CAPCOM would've added in the ability to rotate the camera.

As far as the HD itself goes, that's a tough one. The gameplay actually looks great, but some of the other moments not quite as much. You'll see some ugly textures from time to time, but what's more daunting is how CAPCOM opted not to touch some of it. CAPCOM left the menus in regular Standard Definition so some people are bound to notice a few strange textures (particularly when you go into the options menu in the first Devil May Cry). This is really not that big a deal, although with how other games had their HD collections treated it just seems somewhat lazy not to go the whole nine yards. HD Collections like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus or Metal Gear Solid just did a better job. Some of the pre-rendered cutscenes also look like they weren't really touched at all. Again, you're gonna notice a few ugly textures. During actual gameplay, though and during the cutscenes that aren't pre-rendered the games actually look quite good. Again, it just seems very odd that CAPCOM wouldn't go the full nine yards with some of this stuff. It only takes booting up the original Devil May Cry to see this. The pre-rendered cutscene at the beginning of the first Devil May Cry is in standard for instance, yet the first meeting between Dante and Trish (because it's not pre-rendered) is in HD, but then the next pre-rendered scene that plays in which Trish talks about Mundus is in standard. Perhaps this is most noticeable when you boot up and watch the pre-rendered cutscene at the beginning of Devil May Cry 3 and then the in-game cutscene that's immediately after it. It's clear CAPCOM wants you to focus on the gameplay more than the story but... again, why not just go the whole nine yards with it?

The other strange nitpick with this collection is when you select a game. When you boot the HD Collection up you can choose which Devil May Cry you want to play, but once you go into that game, you can't exactly get back to the main menu to let you select a different game. You have to quit all the way out and then boot up the collection again. It's another moment that just seems lazy.

I wouldn't shun anyone away from this collection. It's actually a good one. You get three games for a decent price. And while not EVERYTHING is in HD at least the gameplay itself is and that's not so bad. There are a few parts of Devil May Cry that haven't aged as well, but the games are still good in and of themselves.

So, I'll start the review by saying that I have never played the original SD versions of these games. I own them, but every time I tried to start them I got discouraged. Probably because I've been spoiled by too many new games with amazing graphics and because I came too late to this series. But I've always wanted to play.

Enter the DMC HD collection. I pre-ordered it the instant I heard about it and have been itching to play it. From the moment I got it into my console (ordered PS3 version, BTW) I have been pretty glad that I waited. I was rewarded with HD content that, for the most part, made me feel like I was playing a newish game. That's not to say it's on par with GOW3 or anything...but there are definitely improvements. Speaking of God of War, much like the HD re-release of that series, cut scenes have not been remastered in HD. This was maddening when I saw it in GOW, and I'm equally thrown by it now. I'm not expert, but I would have thought it would be easier to re-render a pre-programmed cut scene than an entire world of objects and bad guys. If anything, the cut scenes serve to remind you of how playing this game USED TO look, and can make you feel better for having the HD version. (Gotta find the positive here folks).

The gameplay seems pretty smooth and not glitchy at all (freezing, camera plowing through walls, etc.) other than what I state below in regards to the camera angles.

I can't speak to any bonus content, because I don't know what's been added from the original version.

With all that being said, it would seem that camera issues from the original series have likely found their way onto this re-release. Not surprising since it's likely just a direct port with slightly better graphics. I remember reading soooo many complaints about the camera during DMC1 and DMC2. So far I haven't been absolutely frustrated that I've wanted to thrown my controller, but there are a few times when you're like..."What the?..." because it's hard to see the baddie or where you're supposed to go. I mean, the first boss fight (some crazy lava spider thing) is maddening because as you go around this room camera angles keep changing and it's hard to tell where you are, if there's a pillar in front of you, or if you're walking into the jaws of the boss. The weirdest part is that, say you're pushing left to go forward in the game and the camera flips around 180 degrees. You're still pressing left (forward originally), and moving forward....but with the new point of view, left should actually be taking you backwards. Sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. (Don't know if that makes sense) A little odd, but as I said, I haven't pulled my hair out completely....yet.

Absolutely worth the money on a re-visit (or new visit in my case) of a great (if not slightly odd at times) series. If you are looking for a new hack and slash game, you should give this one a go. I won't get into the GOW / DMC / Ninja Gaiden / Your Favorite Hack-N-Slash Game debate here, as that is beyond me. I'm a casual gamer, not hard core. But, for the fun of a new story and some cool playability, I totally would recommend this for anyone. Should you get it if you have already played or own the original series? I'm guessing probably not, but maybe someone else who reviews the additional content can weigh in.

Looking forward to DMC3 as much as anything on this disc. Heard great things and can't wait to get there.

***UPDATE: Made a few clarifications above. I've been playing for about 2 weeks now and can't say as I'd really change anything above. Again, I'm happy with the game, happy with the price, happy to have the collection all together, and happy to experience all the good (and bad) from the original...with slightly better graphics. My apologies for not being able to say truly whether all of the camera glitches are still present, or if the new content is "worth it", because I never played the originals. I stand by my original statement...a fun series (so far) and worth getting if you've never owned it. If you already own it, not sure if there's a ton for you here. Shouldn't be too much longer until I'm at DMC3, which is the one that I've heard the most about. Looking forward to it.

***Update: Yeah....I never made it past DMC2 as I just got completely overwhelmed with school and work. I hope to revisit the game and my review, but with GOW Origins and GOW Ascension waiting to be played....it's not going to be soon. I really am looking forward to DMC3 though. Sorry 'bout that.

Buy Devil May Cry Collection Now

Before Capcom's soul purpose in the video game industry is to annoy and piss off its fanbase (case in point, the cancellation of MEGAMAN Legends 3, re-releasing games at a content basis, shoving DLC that is on the disc you bought but can't access until you fork more dead presidents, and rebooting a franchise to a developer whose track record is iffy at best), they used to release their damn good (with the exception for one game in this compilation) games. Oh and may I add that they were complete games because game consoles then didn't shove DLC all over our faces.

Such reminder of these games from years ago are Capcom's latest HD upscale romp with Devil May Cry HD Collection. A compilation of the first three DMC games with newly added trophies and wide-screen 16:9 gameplay. One video game generation ago, these games (well, I have to emphasize, two of them) were at the center of the golden age of visceral action games. DMC along with Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi, were challenging action games that forced the player to move with lightning fast precision to perform stylish attacks and evasion maneuvers. These games often forced the player to learn enemy patterns or to master the game's assortment of special moves in order to get high marks or to barely pass them unscaved.

To say that this genre has died off this generation would be a complete farce. The Devil May Cry games (again, 1 & 3) are a legend in their own right and their HD reappearance only serves reason to why this genre flourished in the first place.

As far as this game is concerned, all three titles all preserve their features (including DMC2's outfits by Diesel). Though keep in mind that part 3 is the Special Edition version which brought down the difficulty to Japanese version standard. They look pretty good in 720p but a strange decision was made with regards to the way menus were handled. They left them in their native 4:3 perspective when I'm sure it wouldn't take more time to upscale them like what they did to the gameplay. The cinematics, because they were rendered in SD 480i, look grainy and ugly which seems to be a plague running amok in these HD upgrades. However, the added trophy support ensures old players with a fresh new experience to once again, sharp up their demon slaying skills.

You'll probably get the most mileage playing parts 1 & 3. Part 2 does suck, even without Devil May Cry in its name, its still a boring, worthless action game. In the tier of HD updates, the DMC HD collection sits somewhere in the 80% percentile in the way these games were treated. A bang for your buck at a relatively low price. The Devil May Cry HD is well worth your time and effort. Even if it has part 2.

I originally played, and beat, the original Devil May Cry when it first released on PS2. Having never owned a Playstation until just recently, I got very excited when I saw this collection get announced for both the PS3 and the 360. I originally bought the DMC Collection for the 360. However, I quickly realized that I really did not enjoy the control scheme. Since these three games were originally PS2 Exclusives, the controls feel much more natural on the DualShock 3. So I traded in the 360 version and bought the PS3 version. All three games come on one disc, so no downloading is necessary. One minor gripe about the collection is that the cut scenes are still very much in their original format. It's a bit jarring going from the newly rendered HD graphics to the 10+ year old cut scenes. That said, this series is a true classic (I even like the much maligned 2nd installment) and for $20.00 or less, this can't be beat.

I got this game in Fall of 2012 through European import. It is truly a great rally game that reminds me of the Colin McRae series, before it became Dirt (literally). Though the graphics are not quite on pair with Dirt 3, the stages are longer and the game-play much more fun. Anyone can have fun with this game on the easier settings. If you are a rally fan who like casual video games, this is a 5 star and a must buy.

since I reviewed the regular game, I will just review what's new here:

the game now comes packaged with Multiplayer map pack 1 (7 DM Maps, 4 adventure maps and 3 CC maps)and the Pirates singleplayer expansion. you also get an in game item (pin)also a real pin to wear.

a huge two sided map of the world, the velvet case with special edition dvd

(making of etc dvd) all the DLC is On the Disc for a nice change (thought for sure they would be codes) but this great package is brought down by a major flaw

and that is if you owned the previous version of the game and played online or offline you CANNOT IMPORT YOUR SAVE! that's right you cannot bring in your Multiplayer characters (so no level 300+ character for you) nor can you import your singleplayer save. I have written to topware and they simply told me they had to make a new save slot, that they had to and to contact "the unknown" via the zuxxez forums. sad they ruined a perfect package. my review score is ONLY based upon the package. not the problem. since this is a Fine package if you didn't already buy the game. also the expansion now has weather effects.

Hack (workaround) for importing save games:

This is caused by the fact that PS3 TWII GotY is formally different game then TWII it have different "titleID" and so different saves folder.

There is a hack in game which lets you "import" saves from TWII:

you do this at the main menu.

open commands console:

Hold down L1 + R1 then while holding it down press sequentially: SELECT then DPAD LEFT then SELECT then DPAD RIGHT. An input box+on-screen keyboard should appear.

then put in the game.loaddir BLUS30550 and hit start. (this is the US Code) then you're done (except for saving) use codes below for different regions.

in console type: game.loaddir BLES00845 (UK) (for US version type: game.loaddir BLUS30550, for JAP: game.loaddir BLJM60268) and press START to accept command.

this imports ALL your saves at once including MP and SP. once done just go into multiplayer and force it to save each character and then go into singleplayer and save there too. then you're all done! I tested this and it works perfectly.

I ordered Two Worlds II almost a year ago. I just had a good feeling about it and I was right! it's so beautifully rendered the graphics are among the best I have seen in a ps3 RPG. (except Skyrim!)

the gameplay is fun, primarily Hack & Slash (though enemies can be really stupid which I don't mind at all) you can swim, sail, ride a horse and of course be ANY class you wish! the customization is so deep as is the crafting. I have spent hours just tweaking spells and weapons I think I could just do this for 100+ hours. I've been playing non stop since it's release and am completely addicted!!!!

many people are comparing this to oblivion, the world is bigger I'd wager, I think it's better and harder which I prefer.

the online modes are amazing and fun. I've read of glitches but I

have experienced none. the voice acting is by and far NOT the worst I ever heard. it's actually not bad at all (when compared to the severely wooden acting of SOME other games I will NOT name..) if you liked oblivion and

thought to yourself "I want More" this could be the perfect fix until Elder Scrolls V Skyrim.

the graphics are really amazing with some of the best lighting effects I have seen in any RPG on PS3.

the controls take getting used to but you can assign hotkeys and this speeds things up very well. also I loved the fact that no armor/weapon you loved (early on in the game) is useless,

you may disassemble any weapons and armor for the base components

to make your new weapons/armor far more powerful (though the sell price doesn't change) I'd easily recommend this RPG to ALL Major RPG fans!

the game is simply a blast online or offline.

your single player character cannot be used in multiplayer *sniffle*

though I can cope with having several characters. I especally LOVE they put Necromancy in this to summon your own virtual army much like diablo II's Necromancer and that's just awesome!

the game is deeper then the ocean! I've never seen the ability to craft on this level since Ultima Online and this is even Deeper!!!

the enemies are excellent and well varied, the backdrops are beautiful, amazing graphics and wonderful sound. what more could one want? buy it now (or rent if you're not sure) it's easily worth it.

and I am only about 45 hours into it so far!!!!!

if I had to hazard a guess I bet (like oblivion) you could easily milk 400+ hours out of this between Online 8 Player and Offline!

ONLINE GAME MODES:

Deathmatch (4 on 4 kill or be killed.

Duel (1 on 1 deathmatch. a very fun mode)

Adventure (a co-op 8 player adventure)

Village mode (cost 10,000 auras to begin playing)

Crystal Capture (similar to a CTF in a FPS but collecting crystals)

a little advice about playing Online, if you're just starting out try adventure mode to do some leveling for if you enter deathmatch via using Quick Join you will Die Fast so do some adventuring first and save needless deaths! it really is a blast to play online so don't overlook it!

Graphics: Amazing! 5 stars

Voice acting: on par 3.5 stars

Gameplay: simple to learn difficult to master 4 stars

Sound: the ambient sounds are incredible (turn the music off and see)

5 stars!!

FUN you can assasinate, steal, pickpocket, summon armies, fight hand to hand, use dual wield, one and two handed weapons, archery, cast amazing spells and so much more!! (and you can craft them and decide all effects of the spell) I can't praise this game enough it's beautiful and even the rising/setting sun is an excellent touch.

the online community has diminished a bit but it's still easy to find

online matches (or just host one) the new adventure maps are really fun and different from the other maps. you can now even kill a Crystal Golem to get the Crystal Sword/Shield?/Axe that were not in MP Before this expansion.

the new DM and CC maps are just as good with more of them then the adventure maps

(4 new adventure maps, 7 Deathmatch maps, and 3 crystal capture maps)

the single player has been nicely expanded as well. the pirates expansion has weather effects which are a really nice touch (standing in a graveyard with lightning flashing is more sinister then a peaceful daylight graveyard!

the sailing mechanic has been expanded with a "simple" mode for those that want to explore instead of fiddling with wind and the sail. in this "simple" mode you simply point the ship where you'd like to go and the A.I. takes care of the sail ETC. to speed up sailing so now it's more fun for those not seeking "realism".

one of the boss fights is a tad unfair for those of us that were never good at using the flute or drums etc. this boss requires you to play a melody in about 24 seconds lol. I will get past it,just not anytime soon. otherwise this "Velvet Edition" was worth every penny I spent on it especally since both DLC packs are On The Disc! also, there's new weapons & armor including Horse Armor (though not really needed) and a nifty new bow was also added the Crossbow! it's deadly compared to other bows but is a whole lot slower to reload. overall it's a stellar package no one should overlook.

I like a great RPG just like the next guy/gal but I'm disappointed when I got mine because it was not a US release but a european release. Lucky for me PS3 games are region free not like DVD's, blurays and CD's. I bought this one as a 'inbetween' game.......still doesn't hold a candle to the Elder scrolls series. I will go on to say that it is worth the $25 I paid for the game.

Well supposedly your supposed to get Defense mode and 5 new maps with this version of the game. What they don't tell you is you need UK version of game to play defense and the 5 new maps. The VELVET EDITION is a rip off if you are looking to playing this game stick to the standard edition. I had to do alot of research to find out why i couldn't play defense mode on my velvet edition.

I'm am surprised at how high this game is being rated, The animations are spastic and lazy, the story is non existant which is probably because every character is less interesting as a wet piece of cardboard thats been flattened by a steam roller. I give the game a sliver of credit for having ok graphics, but that does NOT make up for everything else this game fails on and I mean EVERYTHING else. The fighting and movement mechanics are all 'round terrible due to the controls to perform simple tasks are so tedious it takes up more time than it should like how swimming somehow simulates the water having TRACTION. Wanna learn a new spell? Well after you find the book in the dirt, all you gotta do is pick it up, find it in your inventory, select it to learn the spell, then go into your spell book, select the spell that is currently being used, and then select the spell you want to replace it with, exit it out of all of those menus then you're ready to fire at your enemy. OH, but after you select it in your hotbar! Wanna hit multiple enemies like a badass? Just take out your bow, aim it your enemies, go into sniping mode, select the enemies you want to fire at and then let go of the arrows. HOW CONVENIENT!

What's worse are the characters, the acting is so deadpan and fits NONE of characters' appearance, every female is little to no clothing and your character's voice sounds like some generic moron with a low raspy voice. He does nothing, but spew some stupid comment to everyone like he already knows what he's doing, but he just doesn't have the time to say anything about it. The story explains NO plot points so all you know are these guys are doing these thing for SOMETHING. I pretty much lost all hope for this game when I saw an Orc archer had the same sized head as all of the other Orcs (probably to the developers clever feature of copy and paste) but had a thinner body than they did! Oh and when the Orc Mage was shot with an arrow and EXPLODED just so there was no excuse to keep the escape portal open for the main characters. I can not take anything in this game seriously and ANYONE who says this is a good game and on par with any good RPG currently on the market is kidding themselves.

How in the Nine Levels of Hell did this game make Game of the Year? HOW? Seriously, this game is horrid!

Bought this game on a whim, intrigued by the rather witty opening line on the back. Sadly, I was beyond disappointed.

The overall look of the game in the opening cut-scene is beautiful, but it all goes downhill from there. From the start of character creation, the end of the three and a half hours I sunk into this game, the movement and overall flow of the game is choppy at best. At times, the game stalls and has to take time to load mid-map, casing more choppy movement and an overall annoying experience that caused me one too many deaths.

Dialog custs off randomly in mid sentence and the voice acting leaves much to be desired, often sounding monotone at best. Overall, the writing is poor and the names of somethings throughout the entire game sound like the writer just stuck random syllables together to come up with the strangest sounding thing they possibly could.

When you first receive your starting quest (after the prologue) you are not informed that you receive it or what you are meant to do. In order to find out that you have an objective at all, you must walk about and find the scattered members of the party that you find yourself in; and only then do you find that "oh, look, I have a quest! Maybe I should get to that..."

The game, overall, feels unfinished, unpolished, and very rushed; almost as though they got the basics down and released it saying "good enough!"

At the end of the day, this game was a complete waste of my money and I'd advise against purchasing it if you're interested in a good RPG.

Thank You THQ, Thank you. Improved Game Play= Rider Leveling now has a point to it and you can feel your rider get better and more comfortable with the bikes. You actually start as a "Weekend Warrior"(HAHA:) "Bang bars" to vie for position, get credit for Hole shots, scrub jumps, much deeper customization for bikes and riders, tighter/better tracks, indicator for riders approaching from the rear and which side they are coming from, bike sounds are vastly improved, music is enjoyable mostly rock/punk feel, much more... A.I.= The intelligence of computer riders in "Reflex" was deplorable, "Alive" has changed all that. No longer will riders go straight off a berm like its a jump just to wipe your ass out. (Who the hell wouldn't even try for a turn?) Also, you can battle back and not just fall when touched by another bike. New Physics for the Riders and Bikes,= The bike no longer feels and looks like it is on an X,Y axis through the middle of the bike and player. The bike "feels" real, like it actually has weight to it, you will have to have your speed up and push hard off the jump to throw the weight of the bike around for a nice whip(No more whipping it every little jump). Balance that with improved "reflex" control and weight distribution of the rider and we have a winner!! Now the bad stuff... While they did get #7 involved with the project, whether just for sponsorship or actual game input also(i don't know if any pro riders had input on game play) it is good to see the MX community getting at least a little back, but this brings my beef... Where are the real TRACKS, BIKES? My rider is wearing "AlpineStars,ANSWR,FOX,TLD",etc. But i can't ride a Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda etc.???.... Oh and you seem to have forgot Ricky C...? I didn't want to add graphics to the negative list but I have to only for the fact that they are not as good as could be (same engine as "reflex") and presented in 720.(Really?) BUT, the graphics have been cleaned up, especially while racing, riders look good their jersey looks wind blown alot more detail but tracks and backgrounds are still way pixilated, just still too blurred for my taste.... Done with the beef. OVERALL GREAT GAME. Supposed to be lots of DLC for personal customization of game. And online experience is being presented as much cleaner then last installment(please, no more "waiting/riding rooms" for 15 min...) Have not experienced online due to PSN outage and I won't take the time to get back on here and tell you about it. Just go buy it so i can whoop your ass when it goes back online. I've played a few MX Games Before but this one is definitely my favorite. The Single Player in the Beginning is a bit boring and repetitive, but once you level up past 10 and get used to it it's lots of fun. Now that PSN is back up, this game Online Rocks. I can't put the controller down. This game is a Great buy For $33 after the Promotional Credit. Don't listen to the Negative comments because they judged it without giving it a Chance. This is by far the Best MX Game to Date. The way the Bikes handle is awesome. Do yourself a favor and get this today. You won't regret it.

Initially I hated this game and still do hate the beginning of the game. You start off only having two outdoor tracks to race, free ride, and two stupid short tracks (a figure 8). I had to race each of the two outdoor tacks probably 20 times before I unlocked the next couple of outdoor tracks. I think this game leaves a lot to be desired. For starters, I actually enjoyed the feel and being able to scrub every jump in reflex. Throwing around the bike made it a lot more fun. Another HUGE flaw with this game is there is no supercross!! Really? What the heck, its a motocross game but there are no supercross tracks. That is just dumb. Also, there is no career mode or points series in the game. All you can really do is ride the outdoor tracks over and over and over (I don't like the free ride or short tracks). I mean what kind of racing game doesn't have a career or points series mode? What if a NASCAR or Need for Speed game didn't have that? That would be horrible. This is no different. Some of the things I did like about the game were the graphics which I think were better then reflex and the AI of the computer. In the end, I don't think this game is all that great and I have owned every single MX vs ATV game. At the end of the day I think this game is a step below reflex and its a good thing I didn't trade reflex in when I bought this game.

Pros:

-Graphics are superb

-Sound is great

-AI of the computer is the best of any MX vs ATV game

-Lots of options for customizing your rider, gear, and bike

-More real life riders then reflex

Cons:

-NO SUPERCROSS! :(

-No dune buggies or airplanes when you get bored of racing

-No points series or career mode

-Preload is painful to get perfect on every jump

-Takes forever to unlock new tracks, have to re-race the same tracks over and over

-A lot of the tracks are the same exact map with different layouts

-No actual freestyle competitions

-The feel of the rider on the bike isn't like reflex. Whipping the bike is hard to do and when you do it, it doesn't look right

-When you pass a guy you look back and put your hand up to taunt them, kinda dumb in my oppinion

As an addicted REFLEX gamer I was highly anticipating the hyped up sequel ALIVE. I was disappointed to say the least. Here's the short and sweet.

Most reviews I've read so far on this game glamour and rage about the graphics being far superior over Reflex.

FALSE, I own a brand new $25,000 dollar entertainment system with a 82 inch 3D TV and this game could not keep up. The graphics were slow, glitchy, pixilated and flat out terrible. I had absolutely ZERO problems with REFLEX as it was far superior on MY system.

PRO's:

AF riders don't intentionally wreck you if you are winning (best update to the series)

Tire tracks in the dirt/mud are more realistic

Engine Sounds are more realistic

Rider ability evolves as you progress....however, it still is leaves much to be desired.

Rider Reflex seems a little more realistic.

CON's:

Two bikes....That's it...that's all the choice you have unless you purchase more online

Short, figure "8" style courses

NO SUPERCROSS

TINY Free Ride with no hill climbs, and lame jumps. Free ride can be conquered in 10 minuts of play. REFLEX took hours+

Nailing, pulling off and landing jumps is much more difficult because of the added feature of the clutch

CLUTCH....as if we needed one more button to control (BTW they changed the controller configuration making it uncomfortable to learn if you spent any time playing the previous versions)

You MUST play the same two tracks OVER and OVER until you build up enough XP to make it to level 10 which is boring, repetitive and stupid even if you finish 1st in the race.

LACK OF CUSTOM BIKE PARTS AND FEATURES ALONG WITH RIDER MODS & APPAREL

based more along the game PURE where you unlock a series of upgrades rather than earning money to buy the ones you want.

there are less name brand parts and rider apparel and gear than REFLEX

DIFFICULT TURNS Making the turns is far more difficult and nearly impossible using the "Reflex" riding system VS. the previous version.

My advice: If your debating on this or REFLEX; get REFLEX. If you own REFLEX and you debating buying this game,; BUY IT, PLAY IT, and make up your own mind. IF you've never played both, buy ALIVE, play it, return it and then buy REFLEX. I'm glad I got it at a local gaming store. I returned it after 9 days for full refund and a new game. I'm going to go play and try to beat REFLEX for the 3rd time! Much more entertainment value.

I had played the GBA version of the original stuntman awhile ago and remembering it fondly I picked up Ignition. I haven't been disappointed with this game yet, unless you consider cursing at your screen a disappointment, and I don't. The restart option is your friend here as you memorize each increasingly insane filmed stunt until you make it to the end. The lengths of the stunts vary as do the quality of the shenanigans involed but more often than not you will be laughing with this games over the top sense of humour and its skewering of "pop" film directors like "robert Rodrino" as well as the sheer manic feel of the some of the major stunts. The games strength like others before it (Crazy Taxi/Carmageddon) is the joy of the combo and once you five star a run you will feel quite a bit of satisfaction. The music is a little metaly and the directors barking can get annoying but sound effects wise the game is also terrific otherwise. The star system of unlocking films might be daunting for some, but the extra options like odd jobs, freestyle, and stunt constructor set all help fill the time when you are stuck on filming a certain scene. There is way too much precision involved here for the included 6 axis motion control and unlocking the constructor parts can be a bit of work but there is alot of ground to cover here for those who love the gas pedal and don't mind the restart button. I hope THQ doesn't kill the franchise but if this is the finale its a grand sendoff. For the price you can't go wrong IF YOU LIKED BURNOUT PARADISE you should give this a shot.

This is a game like Mom used to makeequally unforgiving and fun, but very satisfying when you pull off a level. This is not a game that can be played through in one sitting, but will take a long time if you go for all the bonuses and 5 star courses. Is it repetitive? Sure is, just like every other game ever made. The deal here is that each re-try feels like a tutorial on how to perfect each level. You'll be learning a lot too, because restarting levels is the name of this game! That's not really a bad thing, just something you have to be prepared for.

Once you do pull a good run and finish all the different stunts in each "movie", your treated to a trailer for the "film". You can see the time that the developer put into these trailersgreat stories, great voice acting, and just the right amount of cheese-factor make tthese trailers a treat. Once you complete a couple of films the individual events open up, and then the game really shines. One event may have you driving in a commercial, while another puts you into a daredevil stunt show. These are arguably more fun than the main game, so it's a real bonus. Also don't miss the online mode where you can build and share your own stunt track creation.

It's a shame this game didn't catch on when it was released because it's really fun, and is not the same old racer. Bonus is that now we can enjoy Stuntman Ignition at a bargain price.

If it wasn't for the demo on PSN I wouldn't have given this game a shot, but I was pleasantly surprised. This game is a blast, don't expect deep meaningful gameplay...but it is lots of fun and replay value is way up there...enjoy!

First let me say that I loved the old, blue box, Trivial Pursuit. It continues to be a great game and I was skeptical that it could translate well to a video game console.

I was wrong to doubt. The PS3 version of the game is crisp, looks great, and has fun animations when your puck moves about. I was also worried that the questions would be too easy, as they are mainly multiple choice wrong again. Some of them are real stumpers. Additionally, there are new ways they've come up with to ask questions, for example a geography question showing a map and forcing you to pick one of four points with no political boundaries shown. Can be tough. Some of the questions also use photos, which is fun as well. The questions are also a great mix of classic trivia and up-to-date information one question even asked to choose the website that was not a social networking site: myspace, facebook, live journal, or icanhascheezburger. I can has fun?

The single-player mode is quite fun, and I can see that I will be spending a great deal of time with it. The classic mode is great for a group (have only played with three so far) and doesn't seem to take as long as a marathon session with the board game sometimes did. There is also a quicker multiplayer mode that's quite enjoyable and can be played in less than 30 minutes.

My only complaint is that they've added a voiceover by a guy who's really quite annoying. He suggests at times that you look up the word loser so you can see a picture of yourself, and is overall tough to listen to after an hour or so. That's OK, you can turn him down or off.

First off, I love Trivial Pursuit. Its not that I dont like this game, just this implementation of it.

I was hoping to see more downloadable question packs by this time. They have how many card decks to choose from, and we're getting squat. I'll pay, just make them.

They have an irritating way of asking geography questions. They show you a map with 4 dots on it. However the resolution isn't always good enough to distinguish two cities that are close together. I know the right answer, but you cant spot it on their map

We're also getting asked the same question in the same game. That's just nuts.

As for the question packs I don't live in India. Why so many questions about Dollywood actors, actresses, and movies that I have never heard of. That pack was totally useless. Glad it was a freebie.

Oh and I wish I could turn off the "cute" graphics. I was able to turn off the music, the sound effects, and the annoying answer.

In short, I just wanted to see a great board game translated to a console. It needed no changes.

Whoever did Monopoly did a far better job!

DICE Sweden has produced one amazing engine. They already have mastered the gameplay in past games. The new frostbite engine is as good as it gets for FPS. After playing for a couple of hours, it is impossible to play other FPS like COD4. Why bother to climb up to take down the sniper, when you can take down the tower with a RPG. There is no annoying boundaries, every thing can be opened up. When the map is not rigid it is lot more fun to play.

It is easy for anyone appreciate the video quality. Iam more amazed by the engines audio strength. Every gun, explosion, terrain sounds unique. Even the sound transition of passing vehicles in combat is reproduced impeccably.

The game is very accessible too. With lot of respawn points, it is easy to get along when you make a mistake.

I like the witty British/Swedish writing. Story line and the twist is very well handled. This game will be a strong contender for FPS of the year.

Battlefield: Bad Company is a fun game to play. Right away I noticed the game has probably the best sounds of combat I have ever heard in a game. From the sounds of weapons firing to the sounds of armored vehicles running, the game is great to listen to. The sounds of mortar shells coming down and exploding around you is just unbelievable. When I walk through forests and fields, I can actually hear the sounds of birds chirping, dogs barking, and cows mooing.

The graphics in the game are just great too. I love looking at the water in streams and rivers. It looks very real. The forests and villages in this Eastern European setting are really beautiful to look at in this game.

I like how you can jump in different vehicles to drive around in and there is a car radio in the vehicle to listen to while you are driving around. There are several different radio stations to listen to. I love the music in this game.

The AI in this game is pretty smart. When enemy soldiers see me, they immediately run and hide behind something. They have try to out flank me and they have tried to sneaked behind me a few times. I love the part where a enemy soldier runs into a building to hide from you and you can use your weapon to blow a good size hole into a building to waste the enemy soldier. It is also so much fun to just take your weapon and shoot down all the trees that enemy soldiers are hiding behind. You can do so much damage to the terrain with your weapons in this game.

The maps to this game are huge. The maps are ten times bigger than the maps to Call of Duty 4. I love the sandbox settings to this game where you can go any where on the maps.

I highly recommend getting this game. Battlefield: Bad Company is a fun game to play and the game has a lot of replay value to it.

I heard this was going to be great, so I got it right away. I'm pleased to report it is as fantastic as people expected. You can destroy everything in your sight! You can drive tanks and jeeps and helicopters, everything. The online mode is smooth and easy compared to MGS4. Makes COD4 seem dumb for not having rumble, destructible environments or vehicles. There's going to be a lot of action on the Bad Co servers this summer! Get in on it!

01/01/09: I have to say, I have gotten a bunch of games since this one, and I had a lot before I got this one. I have 11 or 12 games for PS3. Hands down, this is still my favorite game and I highly recommend it at this new low price. This is the BEST game for PS3 and you must have it. Do not hesitate. You couldn't spend $30 towards your system and get more for the money! I still have not played the actual game portion of this. I play ranked quickmatches and that's so satisfying I haven't even tried the story. Also, they added a capture the flag type multiplayer version to it and I haven't even tried that! The ranked quickmatch is worth the money alone. This game is awesome. Get it!

Comparing BBC and COD4 is closer to apples and oranges, but because they are both military shooters, they will be compared constantly. The truth is, they are both great games.

Here is my take on Battlefield Bad Company:

BBC has a great use of vehicles, they fit the battlefield well, are not too powerful and are fun to operate. The only one that doesn't work well for most people is the chopper it takes forever to master.

All of the classes are fun to use. The sniper in COD4 is frustrating and on some boards is just about impossible to use. BBC makes sniping fun again.

The single player game is awesome in a completely different way than COD4. It is laugh out loud funny and simply a blast to play, blowing everything in sight up without constantly worrying about how much ammo you have. It is much more fun than realistic.

BBC Multiplayer places a greater emphasis on teamwork. It may sound silly, but the support role, the dependance upon others for a ride to the fight, and how the roles mesh together make for a much more rewarding experience when it clicks. If however you are thrown in with a bunch of newbies who don't know how to play in a team, it can be frustrating. Once I was on a team of 12 and I counted 7 snipers on one board. No one was attacking the crates. But as people start to get the feel for it, it gets more and more fun. I actually listen for the support guys to yell, "Here, patch yourself up!" and start looking around for the kit. Also, I have scored very high scores by just playing the support role and fixing vehicles and being a medic. The cool thing is that you can pass out first aid, then raise a heavy machine gun and finish off guys to boot. Awesome stuff.

Additionally, the battelfield atmosphere is outstanding. The buildings and such are nowhere near as detailed as COD4, but when artillary strikes come down around you and you lose your ability to hear and focus, but find a hole or corner to hide in to ride it out, there is no doubt that combat must be similar to that.

A couple of real challenges that I wish had been addressed. There is only one multiplayer mode with two sides. Attacker and Defender. There are several maps, but most of them feel very similar. I wish there were some deathmatch modes, or other creative match structures. Rumor has it that they are releasing a new game mode later this summer. So we'll see.

Another thing is that while the grenade launchers are awesome to blow holes in things, they are worthless for trying to kill guys. I realize that they couldn't make the grenade launcher too powerful, but you should be able to take guys out with it. I have occasionally landed one perfectly, but usually it is only good for light vehicles or taking out walls.

The final problem is that there is no split screen or co-op mode. I love in COD4 to take on my son head to head. Sometimes we even just run around in the maps looking for nooks and crannies to hide in. But in BBC, that isn't available. Hopefully in the future, co-op mode will just be a given in military shooters.

This game is a must buy for shooter fans. The single-player game is worth the price, but the multiplayer is where it shines. I love both COD4 and BBC. To only choose one of them would be to rob yourself of the other. If you love military shooters, these two are both great.

I consider myself a casual gamer growing up playing Super Nes, Attari, and Genesis. And never thought I would be writing a game review. But I have felt compeled after playing Battlefield Bad Company for PS3 for the past three months. Bad Company is the most fun and addicting game I can remember. The multiplayer is unbelievable and the new 1.20 upgrade has really perfected the games graphics and gameplay. Being able to blow up and change your enviroment is really cool.

The game is underated. I have owned Call of Duty 4 and Far Cry 2, these games haven't come close and I have since sold them and have gone back to playing Battlefield Bad Company. I don't consider COD4 the game of the year.

I can't wait for the PS3 sequel. The best thing I can say is if you are looking to buy a holiday gift or a birthday gift this game would be a great for a gamer.
