Alright, some of these reviews are pretty ridiculous. People are reviewing this thing before they even bought it? I just want to say what people want to know. The plastic is actually pretty good quality. The bottom where the plastic touches the ps3 slim body actually is very soft and is somewhat padded leaving out the possibility of scratches. You can buy a generic one off ebay, but most of them do not have the clip that locks the ps3 to the stand which secures the two units together. I personally think the ps3 slim looks so much nicer with the stand and having it stand like a tower. But that's just me. Overall, I give this a 4 star, because even when I got it for 19.99 I personally thought it was expensive. 14.99 seems much more reasonable. I had a gamestop edge card and needed to spend it on something for my new ps3. I think this decision wasn't too bad.

I don't understand how this PS3 stand is getting like 3.5 stars when it is the most stable PS3 stand and looks the best. Lot of these user reviews are loving the PS3 stand but then giving it a low score simply due to the higher price. I was looking around for a PS3 stand and I had a few options. At first, you could put the PS3 slim on the side without any stand but I think that is way too risky to tipping a $300 game system. Forget that! I looked at the very cheap Pega PS3 stand. Great price but it doesn't have the protective foam on the bottom so pega may scratch the PS3. It looks like plastic on plastic. Most importantly, it doesn't have the lock in feature so the PS3 can still easily tip pushing it to the right. I looked at Nyko PS3 stand and noticed that it doesn't match and it has no locking feature either. I saw some other generic PS3 stands with some type of lock in feature on the side and it still didn't lock the PS3 to the stand correctly as the PS3 can tilt out. I researched this and actually saw videos comparing the stands. This Sony PS3 stand is definitely the best as it keeps it the most stable and looks great. You can get this Sony PS3 stand for pretty cheap too as I got it for $10 less than the retail price. You don't have to pay the retail price if you look around at one of the most obvious stores and I'm not talking about B.B. or wallyworld charging full retail price.

Most stable stand + Best looking + Lock in feature + Protective foam = 5 stars

First of all lets address the price issue. If you want a $10 cheap stand you can find it easy enough, but after buying the Nyko version of the stand i found out the hard way that quality for this simple accessory matters. Think about it, the stand has to securely place the PS3 in its vertical position and withstand at least some minimum force applied to its sides. The PS3 Slim Vertical Stand i bought first was nicely built and all but the fault is on the lack of lock in mechanism, so that if the PS3 is accidentally pushed by its left side it will come lose and fall off the base in a second so i sent it back. Now i got the Sony Brand and im more than pleased with the high quality all around built and lock in mechanism.

The difference between the Sony brand and other alternatives is around $5 to $7, just pick the right one so that your are all set form the get go.

This is really a good product. It looks cheap in the picture, but it is very nice in real life.

It holds the playstation with ease. You can hold it upside down from the stand and the system won't slip out.

Really basic piece of equiptment, but also very well made.

Suck it up, spend the $20 and buy it. It will hold up longer than the off brand ones, not to mention look better.

I have played the whole of the Orange Box on 3 systems: a midrange system from a few years ago (Pentium 4, nVidia 7300GTS video card), a brand new system (Intel Core 2 Quad, nVidia 8800GT video card), and the PS3. I have seen the XBox 360 version, but I have not played it myself, so I won't pass judgement.

I will say this: I hate all the complaining about the PS3 version, with everyone comparing it to the other versions. Yes, EA is a horrible game developer, with substandard ports, and Valve should not have handed the Orange Box off to them. Yes, because of this, the PS3 version suffers, both graphically (no 1080p options), and with some drops in framerate (most notably in parts of Episode 2). But the problem with this sort of reviewing is that it is not objective to this game on this system, and deters people from an amazing gaming experience.

The Orange Box is one of the most amazing gaming experiences and gaming values you can get. I don't feel any need to elaborate; most people have either already experienced it, or read any of many reviews giving details in depth. The PS3 version is still that amazing experience, no question. It has semi-long load times, but nothing nearly as bad as I have experienced with other games (in other words, about normal). There are a few framerate drops and graphical glitches, but most (I repeat MOST) people wouldn't notice or care. Again, they are really no better or worse than most other games out there. Normal. My only real complaint is that even with the PS3's capabilities, the screen resolution maxes out at 720p (but then again, that was my main complaint with Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Motorstorm, and several other PS3 [and XBox] games). But honestly, it still looks absolutely amazing; 720p is still HD, and most people can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p anyways. I can, but it's really doesn't matter. The quality of the game as a whole does.

A quick breakdown of the framerate issues in each part of the game, for those who care:

HL2: None

HL2, Ep.1: Some during the last levels

HL2, Ep.2: Some at the beginning, some during driving sequences, and at a few points during the last level

Portal: None

TF2: Here is where there is no excuse. ANY framerate problems during a real-time online fighting game causes huge problems. And there are a few.

I should note, the lowest I saw the framerate drop was to around 15-18 frames per second, which is noticeable for those who care, but NOWHERE near the slideshow that some reviews have been spouting. Also, there was a slight delay in gameplay during quick-saving and right after loading, but that's pretty normal for games. Nothing to kvetch about.

For those who need some comparison, I will now compare it to both of my PC experiences.

The PS3 version far outshines my gameplay experience on my midrange system. Load times, framerate, and VISUALS are far superior on the PS3. Would I have complained about the PC version? Not really, because even with the minute long load times, low resolution, and really choppy framerate on my PC, I still really loved the game. So the PS3 version was a huge step up.

With my new system, well, duh, it's going to look and feel better than the PS3 or XBox versions. And it does, very much so. That was expected.

So which way do I prefer, PC or PS3? Well, it's sort of split for me. The PC version is technically superior, and keyboard/mouse controls have always been better than using a console controller. But there was something that tickled me about being able to lie on my couch, watching the game on a huge screen, and hearing footsteps and action all around me with surround sound (I realize you can hook up surround sound on PC's, but how many people actually do? Most people put the money towards their home entertainment systems. And while I have a VERY large widescreen computer monitor, it's nothing like my television.). So I'm honestly split.

Final thoughts (sorry for making this so long):

If you have multiple consoles, and are choosing between this and the XBox 360 version, skip it. The 360 version was directly overseen by Valve, which is reason enough to spring for that as opposed to an EA port (again, I haven't actually played the 360 version, and I really don't like what EA does for games).

If you have the PC version, it's up to you whether or not you want to get it for PS3. Paying twice for the same game may seem a waste, but some people (myself included) like to have the option to play in front of a desk, or to relax on the couch and play. If you're still not sure, I suggest renting the game first to get the experience. That's what I did, and now I've made the decision to get the game for PS3 in addition to the PC version I already own.

If you don't have the Orange Box at all, shame on you! But if you're looking to get it, have a PS3, and your computer isn't mid-high range, the PS3 version is a good choice. (Plus you don't have to deal with Steam, and you can sell or return the game, which you can't do with the PC version)

Hope this helps.

I bought this game despite some reviewers saying there were frame rate slow downs etc, and I'm so glad I did. This isn't the best PS3 game out (that goes to Uncharted in my book) but this is my number 2 PS3 game.

There are five games included in this package, and each one is mind blowingly good. Portal is the most unique game experience I've had in a long time, and Portal alone is something every gamer should experience.

Then there's the Half-Life 2 series, which includes three variations of that game basically, and countless hours of content. The atmosphere and story is excellent, and again unique. The nice thing about these games is that the story is all told by the things other people say to you, and the things that happen in the environment. This is true of Portal as well. The fact that your character doesn't talk makes it feel more like it's you in the game, and it allows you to have your own thoughts/reactions to what's being said and done, without anyone telling you what your character feels. It's wonderful.

There are some frame drops and the occasional hitching, but this honestly didn't bother me very much at all. It happens rarely, and honestly games in previous generations suffered much worse and didn't stop anyone from buying them, and nor should it stop anyone here. For the most part the game is smooth, with gorgeous graphics, anti aliasing. Most home computers would probably run this game at less detail offered here, and STILL have far worse technical problems. I had my second best gaming experience of the year with this game (Uncharted being number 1) so clearly I think it's a superb addition to any PS3 library.

Buy The Orange Box Now

Frame rate issues are sooooooo overexaggerated! This is one of the best titles available for PS3, buy a copy without doubts!

There are always ways to perfection, and that's what all the complaints are about, because other releases of this game-set are slightly better, but the improvements are VERY insignificant, and if there were no other editions no one would even complain about the performance of this one. It's all about the fanboy war of XBOX against PS3, so PS3 fanboys feel betrayed by Valve because XBOX release is slightly better. Please, just ignore this silly war, or you'll miss such an outstanding release.

A must have!

A good game overall, I had owned HL2 for my Xbox a few years ago, beat it, and started playing Orange Box on PS3, overall it is a better experience.

so far I have encountered no framerate problems or anything to keep me from enjoying the game. There are load times but they are not as frequent as the Xbox version and they are not as long as some people say they are.

Plus, you don't have to worry about Steam, like you do for the PC version.

HL2 = 10/10

HL2 EP 1 = 8/10

HL2 EP 2 = 9/10

Portal = 9/10

TF2 = 10/10

Orange Box = Greatness, no matter what system you buy it for.

There seems to be this undercurrent that "The Orange Box" --a collection of five exceptional videogames --could only be played on the PC. For one reason or another, the X-Box 360 and PlayStation 3 discs haven't been given their fair praise. The PS3 version, especially, hasn't been given a fair shake.

"The Orange Box" is as perfect an experience on the PS3 as it was on a PC, if not better. I don't say that because it's 100% perfect, mind you. After all, "Portal" is very short, "Half-Life 2" is a bit unevenly paced, the "HL2" Episodes unfortunately don't have a definitive ending, and "Team Fortress 2" was always a strange bird to me. I am declaring that "The Orange Box" is a superior product over the PC version because, guess what?...It's guaranteed to work 100% of the time. A personal computer can't guarantee that for you. If your computer's too old, then some of the more epic sequences might be too choppy, or you'll have to sacrifice high-res graphics for smooth gameplay, or the loading times might be too long because your computer's doing some background operations. And if your computer's supernew, Valve's Steam support is here for you, but will it last? Think about that for a moment...will Steam go away some day? Now ask yourself, will the PlayStation 3 and a carefully used BluRay ever fail you?

The PS3 version of "The Orange Box" seems to be picked for inferior graphics and slightly longer loading times. First off, all 5 of these games look very good and run very well on Sony's system. Do they look worse than a PC or 360 version? Perhaps a little, but you're comparing a 9.9 to a 9.6....are you really gonna lose sleep over this? As for the loading times, naysayers have picked on this way too much. So I have to wait 10 seconds for a game to reload after I die instead of 4 seconds; Give me a break!

Maybe "The Orange Box" was a vastly inferior product on the PS3 before the mandatory one-time software update (now THAT is annoying). But as I play these 5 games, this BluRay has only frozen on me one time. And quite frankly, every PC disc and PS3 disc I own has done that to me at one point in my time.

Why not focus on the important story here? "The Orange Box" includes 5 terrific video games!

"Half-Life 2" is a true pioneer in the first-person action genre, and its quality hasn't diminshed since 2004. The two sequel "Episodes" continue that gripping story, with a shocking conclusion that understandably has fans begging for either "Episode Three" or "Half-Life 3". And as if "HL2" wasn't enough of a first-person, just take a look at "Portal"! I don't begrudge fans who call it one of the all-time greats, because its brilliant concept doesn't let up for the 4 hours or so that it gives you. To me, it's a little too short, but it's a true original. "Team Fortress 2" is one of the more unusual multiplayer experiences I've encountered, with its diverse classes and matches. But it's very entertaining should you choose to explore its intricacies.

"The Orange Box" is a steal, even for the full asking price that most Amazon sellers are charging for this hard-to-find PS3 disc. It's worth the investment if you don't have the confidence that your computer can run the games. To be fair, my 2007 Dell computer runs "Portal" and "Team Fortress 2" just fine, while the three "HL" games have some framerate and loading hiccups. The games are playable if you want to go for the less expensive route and risk it.

You want my advice? Play the original "Half-Life" on PC, and get "The Orange Box" on a console. If the PlayStation 3 is your only option, I'm sorry Amazon sellers are taking advantage of your predicament. But after forking the cash, the superior product will put your worries at ease. All will be forgiven. So take the dive --"The Orange Box" is a most valued treasure!

GAMES

Half-Life 2 (2004) = 9.5 / 10

* This is a game that just keeps on delivering, even though it has some pacing issues. But the genius is that it trusts you, the gamer, to figure out its puzzles and story without spelling it out for you. It ends on a strange note, but I believe the intrigue will win you over enough, especially now that some follow-up Episodes have been released.

Episode One (2006) and Episode Two (2007) = 9.0 / 10

* Aside from being shorter and only introducing a few new gameplay concepts, the stories and action set pieces are equally as exhilerating as the epic "Half-Life 2". These sequels step away cut through the Orwellian backdrop, and finally force the gamer to feel the impact that the interdimensional rift has caused the human race to endure. Episode One ends with a bang; Episode Two ends with your heart wrenched.

Portal (2007) = 8.5 / 10

* I wouldn't be surprised if people bought "The Orange Box" just to play this nifty little gem. While I think that's overkill, "Portal" is one of the true defining steps in videogame history. Like other Valve titles, it trusts you the gamer to use your first-person intuition to solve the mysteries and puzzles laid before you. GlaDOS is one of the most quotable, unforgettable characters in games, and the physics & logic create some truly amazing moments. The game's pretty short, but then again, it always meant to be more of an experimental bonus.

Team Fortress 2 (2007) = 8.0 / 10

* To be honest, I haven't spent a ton of time with this one, because the only multiplayer shooter I truly enjoy is the more recent "Call of Duty" titles. But I will credit Valve for not only thinking outside the box when they assembled this game, but for creating a new one. The strategies you can implement with the different classes and match types really make each match a unique experience beyond the fragfests of shooters today. I guess I admire "Team Fortress 2" a lot more than I enjoy it. It simply wasn't a game meant for me, and after spending about 6 hours with it, I don't think that's gonna change. But honestly, I always loved "The Orange Box" for the other 4 games on the disc, so having a less appealing 5th one is just a bonus.

Before I purchased this HDMI cable for my Roku XDS I shopped around first at nearby Walmart and Best Buy, and read some reviews for this product. I'm a retired electrical engineer and do not believe on going overboard, spending more than adequate to get a good result on audio and video component. There are cables in the market that are priced too high to get the money out of those people who are willing to pay the price. Those people always believed that if the price is high, the product must be very good. For digital signal transmission, this HDMI cable is more than adequate. My video and audio were not degraded, and I did not notice any lost of clarity either on video or audio signal.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I hooked this braided HDMI cable between my HDTV and my computer to stream video from the internet to my HDTV. The picture is clear and the sound quality is very good. I don't see any difference while using this cable from computer to HDTV than I do when watching TV directly from my satellite box. The only problem I have with this cable is that it is very thick due to the braiding, which makes it hard to turn. I need to plug it into one side of my HDTV, loop it around the back of the TV and bring it out on the other side where I place my computer out of tripping range. The thickness of the cable makes it hard to loop around and it's heavier than the other cables I have. This cable would probably be best for professional use where there might be heavy usage and plugging and unplugging of the cord. It will probably stand the test of time and constant movement easier than the regular smooth vinyl cables. But, for normal home use, the vinyl cables are easier to handle.

For anyone who has not used an HDMI cable and is new to HDTV, this cable can be used to hook up your cable box, DVD or Blu Ray disc player, computer, Wii, sound system and whatever else you have that has an HDMI cable connector. You do not need to use separate audio cables as this beauty steams everything through it. It's super simple to use just plug it in to your HDTV and plug the other end into the other component and play. I suggest getting HDMI cables for each separate component so you don't have to pull out the DVD cable to plug in your computer.

WHO NEEDS IT?

This wire should work well with anything that supports HDMI 1.3x but it's built to comply with the higher HDMI 1.4 standard. You may consider this product if you have TWO devices that support HDMI 1.4. For these, the cable will carry through HD images and Ethernet data therefore eliminating the need for one dedicated Ethernet cable and one Ethernet port. Again, on a pair of connected HDMI 1.4 devices, it will eliminate the need of a dedicated audio cable if, let's say, your TV needs to send sound back to your receiver it may have a built-in Blu/DVD player or get its input through an USB port. You may also consider this cable if you currently need an extra HDMI 1.3 cable but you are planning to to replace your existing equipment with some HDMI 1.4 ready hardware in the near future.

As far as HDMI 1.4 stands, this cable is 'it'. It's the complete implementation because it supports ALL HDMI 1.4 features.

HOW GOOD IS IT?

Behaves as a HDMI 1.3x 'high speed' or 'category 2' cable.

As a 'high speed' HDMI 1.4 cable, it supports video resolutions of at least 1080p and can go as high as 4K.

The 'data channel' (Ethernet support) works only with HDMI 1.4 ready equipment.

The 'audio return channel' is another feature supported by HDMI 1.4 ready equipment only. It will allow for audio to be sent 'back' from, let's say a TV to the HDMI 1.4 compliant receiver, therefore eliminating the need for a dedicated audio cable.

It should support all the HDMI 1.4 extra color palettes because those are implemented by the HDMI 1.4 compliant connected equipment.

You may want to get this cable even if your equipment is not HDMI 1.4, it doesn't hurt to get a wire that supports a higher standard and, with free shipping the price difference is not that great. And, keep in mind that Amazon stands behind this product so returns should be easy.

END OF REVIEW

______________________________________________________

What follows is the byproduct of me attempting to clarify 'HDMI 1.4' for myself and understanding this specific product's features. I thought I'd share.

WHAT'S IN A NAME? (understanding this cable's features)

HDMI 1.4 is a new HDMI standard adopted in 2009, backward compatible with HDMI 1.3. This cable should work with your existing equipment.

HIGH SPEED indicates that this cable supports resolutions of 1080p or higher and 3D video (unlike the HDMI 1.4 STANDARD cables which, believe it or not, are limited to 720p/1080i why? nobody knows).

ETHERNET means that this cable supports a full-duplex 100 Mb/sec Ethernet connection if you have 2 HDMI 1.4 ready devices and they both need an network connection, this cable will carry through the Ethernet datastream to the second device, therefore saving you the need for one extra Ethernet cable.

Audio Return Channel is a feature that would save you the need of a dedicated audio cable between 2 HDMI 1.4 compliant devices.

This cable should support the full set of 3D features found in the new TVs.

THE HDMI 1.4x DIFFERENCE

HDMI 1.4 allows for the following new features:

Ethernet Channel allows for the 2 connected devices to communicate with each other and share one network connection.

Audio Return Channel eliminates the need of a second cable if you want to send audio from your TV back to your receiver.

3D It's supported by HDMI 1.3x but HDMI 1.4a specifically supports all the currently agreed-upon industry standards

4K resolution good to have it but there is nothing on today's market that would take advantage of this

Expanded support for new color spaces by supporting sYCC601, AdobeRGB, and AdobeYCC601 it better aligns your display with the color spaces supported by digital cameras.

Type D connector the 'Micro' connector is to be used by small, portable devices with supported resolutions of up to 1080p.

The HDMI Consortium defines 4 broad types of HDMI 1.4 cables:

* Standard HDMI Cable

* High Speed HDMI Cable

* Standard HDMI Cable with Ethernet

* High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet

Of the above, only the 'High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet' (this one) makes sense and it's likely to emerge as the common HDMI 1.4 cable.

Standard cables are limited to lower-resolution displays up to (approx. 720p or 1080i). High Speed cables support higher-resolution display (e.g. 1080p). They can deliver all video content currently defined for the HDMI standard (i.e. more than two 1080p/60 video streams, including 3D). HDMI cables with Ethernet are capable of sending 100/mbps over the HDMI Ethernet Channel. Since it is not likely that many HDMI 1.4 'standard' cables will be made or sold, I suspect that the crippled 'standard' type exists only to allow for calling the cables that support 1080p 'high speed' which sounds good and high-end.

I bought the HIDEit mount solely with the intention of getting my PS3 off of a table I had been using previously to get it out of the reach of my small children. The mount was easy to install, looks great on the wall, and keeps my PS3 out of reach. If I had to provide any criticism it would be that there's no slot in the mount to run cables behind the PS3 when mounting on the left of a TV. I mounted it on left as the right side would've allowed the heat from the PS3 to blow right into the TV.

OMG. I have read so many horror stories about these knock offs. This one had no complaints though. I took the risk and got it. It works just like the Sony. Its all the same parts from what I can see on the outside. It feels the same. Buttons and joysticks are good. It vibrates like its supposed to, it connects, its wireless. Even my kids said why spend 3 times more when they are the same. I'm going to buy two more of this exact one.

This controller is way cheaper than the original sony ps3 controll. I bought it because it had a lot of good reviews. For games that do not require precision, like racing or fighting games, this controller is excellent. Can't really tell the difference. For first person shooter games, like call of duty and modern warfare, you will notice the difference. Let me explain, I have a very accurate aim in shooter games. Every time I aim with this controller, it seems to slightly aim around the player I'm shooting. It feels like there is an invisible force field around the player that causes my aiming to shoot just outside the target. It is more noticeable from longer range. Its very frustrating, and has caused my accuracy to go down. At first I thought the auto aim was disabled, not the case. Ive used it to play God of War 3, Rachet and Clank, little big planet, etc and you cant tell the difference. However, its made me scream my guts out and almost slammed the controller once after playing Black Ops and Modern Warfare. Very frustrating when it comes to first person shooter games. Hope this helps!!!!

When you hold this controller it really does feel like a cheap knock off that in reality, probably costs around 2$ to make. I thought it would last a few months at least, but it stopped turning on after 3 days, out of which it was used for about 1 hour. Stay far away from this product, otherwise you'll just be throwing your money away.

This is a great fill in for the original PS3 wireless controller. Have not figured out how to feel the shock vibrations yet, but this is a much cheaper way to play my PS3. And the color if this particular controller is cool and looks great.

First, let me start by providing my experiences with FIFA 2011. After reading rave reviews on FIFA 2011, I decided to give it a try after skipping FIFA 2010 (also had glaring reviews) and going with PES 2010. You can read my review on FIFA 2011, but bottom line is I ended up selling it mainly due to unrealistic and indistinguishable gameplay despite FIFA touting the "realistic" gameplay.

Unrealistic because you can never execute a deadly thru-pass with a top player with just one lowly defender who stood between you and the forwards running/waiting for that thru-pass. A defender would always intercept the pass unless you direct the pass to a completely open area which defeats the purpose. In real life, playmakers like Gerrard, Iniesta, Xavi, etc provide deadly thru-passes toward inside the box past 2-3 top defenders.

Indistinguishable because no matter which team you play or who you're controlling, they all have the same characteristics and speed. Messi or Ronaldo can't out run a lowly defender. The game was boring and tedious. I loved FIFA's clean presentation, soundtracks, editing capabilities, even down to customizing the chants, but it failed to deliver in gameplay and fun factor which is the core of any video games.

So I went back to PES series and my experiences have been mostly positive. PES 2011 have a much more streamlined and clean interface. You still don't have all the licenses or real stadiums but the game play is so much better and exciting compared to FIFA. First and foremost, you can forget about all your previous skills that you may have acquired from previous PES series. The new gameplay takes some getting used to, especially the new camera angle. There is no tele angle which showed most of the playing field panning side to side following the controlling player/ball. It is now been replaced with "wide" angle with options to follow the ball or the players. When you're deep inside the opponent's half trying to provide crosses, the angle is skewed much like the "broadcast" angle that you really can't see your players waiting inside the box with a quick glance, so you really have to rely on radar. However, with practice and some getting used to, it quickly became a non-issue. The gameplay is much more realistic and fluid with no "ball sticking" that plagued previous PES series. Passing now requires well timed direction and control with power gauge indicator. But most importantly, thru-passes work in PES unlike FIFA. I can pin point and execute thru passes between defenders and experience the gratification of forwards receiving them leading to a potential goal. There are definite differences on players' mobility and skills when you're controlling a top player as opposed to other players. Messi can out run and execute some deadly feints to get past a defender, Drogba can bully couple of defenders with his size and strength, and other players' real life skills are accurately portrayed in PES 2011.

Online play is more accessible now with instant game matching within Exhibition menu as opposed to drilling down inside Online menu. I did not experience any noticeable lags even with subpar network connections. The new game plan (tactics/strategy) with drag-and-drop interface is so easy and intuitive that I find myself tinkering with different settings something that I haven't done often in previous PES. Feint settings where you can combo series of feint moves with the right stick is also a welcome addition and fun to watch.

Sadly, this game isn't perfect. There are some glitches or short-comings:

I lost control of my players when I accidentally pressed series of buttons on my controller. CPU took over and was controlling both teams as if the game is running in demo mode. I regained full control after a dead ball. Fortunately, I've only experienced this once.

There are some graphic "tearing" when players are near or inside the goal. They go through the goal net with some eerie effects.

Penalty kick system should be completely gutted and reworked. I really liked FIFA's "metered" or "gauged" controlled penalty kick system.

Minor issues aside, I'm enjoying PES 2011 more than FIFA 2011 and I think it's unfortunate that PES 2011 don't get the credit or fair reviews that it deserves from the game review community. You could find a number of high reviews for FIFA but only a handful of lukewarm reviews on PES. Not that I rely on these so called professional game reviewers' verdicts dictate my purchasing decisions but still, I think it's a shame.

Pros:

1. Realistic gameplay and physics without sacrificing fun factor in soccer simulation game

2. Ease of menu navigation and game plan (tactics) settings

3. Reliable, quick and fun online gameplay

4. Does not require online access code you have to enter like FIFA

Cons:

1. The new gameplay and camera angles take some time getting used to

2. Some graphic glitches but this could be ironed out on future updates

3. Bad, inconsistent penalty shootout system

Overall, PES 2011 is a step in right direction and despite some minor issues, it's still a fun game that you should definitely experience.

I just got the game yesterday and only played one game under Professional difficulty with RM vs Milan. I won 4-2. I felt the control is much different from the previous versions, which need some time to get used to. The only complain that I have is the camera angle, which, sometimes, is hard to identify the right direction to pass and shoot, especially under the new passing system. Also, the strategy setting is a little to complicated to me. End of the day, we are just trying to play some soccer, not trying to play the Football Manager game. Other than that, the game looks great to me.

PS. I have been a PES and WE fan for over 10 years. No matter how good people say FIFA is, I aint to touch it. PES is for hardcore soccer fans.

First off, never write or trust reviews based on demos. Demos are never true presentations of the final games, at least for both PES.

I started playing soccer games since Fifa95 and Winning Eleven 95. For me, the WE series has got it right in the first place. Folks at EA have never understood the real mechanics of the sport, and have never delivered the "right" game that you can only enjoy as a fan or a player. To me, FIFA has done better in recent years than PES by offering more features and more real-name teams and players. But its core fun factor has never progressed.

PES has been fun because of its overall feel: ball physics, movement, team support, strategy settings and pass/shot/cross realism. Every goal is different. Now every save, tackle and cross seems to be different . You have games that really reflect the differences between player stats. I started off in Master League with the PES lineup, and after losing 2 games, I felt convinced because you could feel the difference in every minute of the game between your Castolo and C Ronaldo.

And in this installment, Konami takes it seriously to add more features. There are more settings that you need to go through before playing a real game in ML or Become a Legend mode. And there are extra content that seems to be real fun. And the sound track seems to have a nice update too.

This is a real upgrade to the franchise for PS3, unlike the previous 2 installments. Maybe the first really worthy PES game to play on PS3.

We ask for a more realistic football simulation game. Without a doubt PES 2011 is the closest you are going to get to the real game. Fifa 11 tried but you can tell for those of us that has a better understanding of soccer that it is not quite there yet. I grew up as a kid playing and watching the game. Not reading and learning from a text book. The reality is that in the real game not all the passes are accurate. The game of soccer requires skills and team work to accomplish scoring goals and defending well to win a game. PES 2011 is more closer to emulating this reality of the beautiful game of soccer. Now playing PES 2011 forces me to think smarter and execute better playing strategies. Fifa 11 does not live up to that capability. The reviews from IGN and others should focus on how close each of these games emulates the real game. I agree that PES 2011 is going in the right direction in simulating the real game. Therefore for all those who want a better simulation of the real game then PES 2011 is for you. What you are experiencing playing PES 2011 is more of what it is like playing soccer on the field or watching it on TV. It is easy for us and the commentator to make critical comments on how a team is playing. But it is easier said than done when playing the game on the field. We have good defenders, midfielders, and forwards in the game of soccer and you do have to appreciate the talents of these players. Messi, Kaka, Ronaldo are good players. But look at how they struggle at times during the world cup. This is just to show you how competitive the game of soccer can be. Even the best is not guarantee to be successful all the time. This is what makes soccer such a wonderful game. PES 2011 is bringing that reality to the game where you are force to be more creative in playing the game well to win. Fifa 11 to me is still in the infancy stages. The passes, shots, etc are too perfect too many times. That is not an accurate simulation of the real game in my opinion from Fifa. The real game requires more indepth team play to make good game play happen on the field. To me most of the so call review experts are missing the point that many of us are asking for a soccer game that simulates the real game and Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 is on the right track towards giving us that realistic feel.

For me, FIFA 10 was way better than PES2010, but this PES2011 owns FIFA 11.

I've played Pro Evo (Winning Eleven) since PsONE but IMO PES 2010 was a let down. Konami revamped the series with PES 2011.

Believe me PES 2011 is a huge improvement for the series. I think that if Konami keeps following this path, PES 2012 will beat easily FIFA 12.

A note for the newcomers (or haters), this game is difficult to mastered compared to previous versions (because of very realistic passing system, shooting and gameplay), to avoid frustration I recommend to start on "easy" or "normal" mode. Precision is the key.

I'm very glad to return to the PES series. Great work Konami.

My PS3 controller crapped the bed leaving me looking for a new one fast. I hit up target and saw this. Coming from an avid 360 player i was sold on looks alone. When I got it home I found that there was way more than meets the eye. Not only does it have the same ascetics as the 360 controller, its not as heavy. It has the rubberized paint that gives it a nice grip. The PS3 button actually turns on the PS3 unlike a lot of other 3rd party controllers and now for the game changer. There is a switch on the bottom of the controller that when flipped reverses your triggers and bumpers... So L1 is actually L2 and R1 is actually R2.... For those that have never played a 360 having the fire and aim buttons as the actual triggers and not the top bumpers is awesome. Turbo feature is good, and at first i noticed some dead-zones in the sticks. But you can download a firmware patch from your PC right to the controller and it fixes it right up.

Pro's its a sold all around controller and worth it.

Con's the battery's are AAA, there was supposed to be a rechargeable pack released by the company but I have yet to see one.

So make sure you have some batteries on hand, but it does have good batter life usually lasts 2 days for me playing 5 / 6 hours a day.

For FPS games I prefer the "360" layout of the thumbsticks, and that is something the Sony brand controller doesn't have. This controller fixes that problem by being my official FPS controller for my PS3. The alternate thumbstick layout was the main motive behind my purchase, but the other extras were a nice surprise. The best extra was being able to use it on my PC via Bluetooth adapter. It's a 2 in 1 in that regard. How light the controller feels was a bit off putting at first, but I came to appreciate how light it felt in my hands. The curve of the handles and rubber of the grip gives a really nice fit for my hands. A must for FPS players that want an alternative to basic PS3 layout and/or for those wanting a cheap bluetooth controller for their PC.

I really didn't thought that my ps3 would look cool as right now, it's cute and gave ps3 better look than standard one and very attractive, it perfectly fit the ps3 also it was too easy to install it without needing to read instruction on seller website. in fact 2 person should install the body sticker.

you can re-install it in case you made a mistake during sticking it up, you can also remove the sticker with no sticky residue.

Controller skin was not included as described on details but I bought the same theme/skin and it's absolutely nice.

I have no problem with power and eject buttons as you may thought it could effect the sensor.

I'm glad to have this one, highly recommended for ps3 users, this review apply to other themes.

I picked this up a week ago at a Game Stop, I really like it so far. It's for sure the best of the PSMove shooting peripherals I have ever seen or used, mainly because of the fact the Move actually plugs in to a mini USB on the Sharpshooter remapping the "hard to reach" buttons to easy to reach location, it all works very well for what it is.

I have tested as many games as I could, Killzone 3, awesome once I tuned it in to my personal preferences, it did take me a while to get all the sensitivities right. One thing I noticed was that the adjustable stock got in the way often during turning, in fact I would remove it all together if I could and I may one day if it really bothers me, I just don't want to have to take it apart.

Dead Space Extraction works amazing with the Sharpshooter, it feels really good, no complaints for that game, well maybe except for the weight, if starts to feel a bit heavy after a while, but that's to be said for all games using the Sharpshooter I guess.

Works well as you would expect for The Shoot and, Time Crisis: Razing Storm, they are a bit more basic though.

I Haven't tried MAG or RE5(as I don't have them) but I'm sure it's fine, and probably works better then any other Move housing.

One thing they should have added was a mini USB port some place on the gun, so you could charge the Move as you play, also I might rap some hockey tape around the handle, it seems a bit weak and may feel more comfortable if I do.

And now for my biggest complaint of all, I'm sure it will be on every ones mind in future reviews. When the move vibrates it rattles the Sharpshooter like crazy, at first I thought it wasn't plugged in right. Nope it's loose'ish in the housing, I can disable the vibration function in controller options. It's ridiculous I really shouldn't have to turn off the vibe to accommodate for the Sharpshooter. I solved it for now but putting foam and double sided tape under the move cap of the Sharpshooter, it works and you don't see it.

Oh and it comes with 3 different sets of stickers to stick on the Sharpshooter, depending on your preference.

Update 02/28/11

After using the Sharpshooter for a little while (daily) I found no other issues at all, and I'm learning to like the ajustable stock, But I still wish you could remove it sometimes.

Also I FINALLY found some good KZ3 settings.

I'm using (in multiplayer) '0'/'0' dead zone, '0' sensitivity and '30' turn speed You may want to turn up the turn speed once you get used to it, if feels as close as I could get it to the Dual Shock 3

** att: lazy people, scroll to the bottom for a Pros/Cons breakdown :) **

I've used this through two full campaigns of Killzone 3 ("Already?!" yep.)

The gun itself is made of a high-quality ABS plastic. There is no creaking or bending of any kind. It's a really well-constructed accessory, externally. There is a little bit of stock wobble but it goes unnoticed during play. The Move controller fits snug and tightly in it's housing. It's vibration function can be felt strongly throughout the controller without buzzing or rattling, which is surprising. In terms of build, the one thing I wish they'd improved is the navigation controller foregrip. It doesn't fit in as snuggly as the Move controller, so there is a tiny bit of movement and play there.

Playing through the first time in 3D with the SharpShooter while on my feet provided a level of immerson that I've never experienced before. And it is absolutely, without a doubt, an "experience." For me personally, it made the campaign a lot more satisfying. It's one of the most fun gaming moments I've ever had, I can't say enough about it.

That's not to say the experience was perfect. Having used the Move and Nav controller extensively in MAG, RE5, and then the KZ3 beta, I'll say using the system with the SharpShooter is actually a whole different animal. It took me a few hours to get used to this new kind of play in terms of targeting and navigation of the levels, though certainly not a fault of the controller, of course. It took quite a while to calibrate the sharpshooter initally and adjust the settings to where I felt they were perfect (I've found that my SharpShooter settings are much different than my regular Move settings). And still it takes 2-4 tries to calibrate to get it right. It's only a minute or two, but it's something that takes seconds with just the Move and Nav. But once it's dialed in, it's accuracy in unparalleled (but that's due the move controller itself).

There are a couple of other things that irked me during the game. The main issue for me is that after some cutsenes, I would have to recalibrate the controller. I get to a cutsene and, when going back in play mode, my reticle would be off. Just an inch or so, but enough to be annoying. This happened twice during both my 1st and 2nd play-throughs at different times. I've just sat through an incredible action-packed cinema and I'm ready to get back in their and kick some [donkey] only to have to stop and recalibrate. It's not enought to ruin the whole deal, but it's understandably a little frustrating when it happens.

Secondly, and this is probably just me, I think the pump-action reload function is a little too sensitive. You only need to move it back 1/3 if the way before it engages the reload animation. There were times when I'd be in a heavy fire fight and I'm trying to return fire to an enemy when I'd accidently trigger the reload animation and get lit up and killed. Since I much prefer to slap the button on the magazine to reload, It'd be nice if you could turn that function off.

Despite some of the minor flaws it may have, the SharpShooter made the campaign a much richer and rewarding affair. I can say that I'll only used the SharpShooter during campaign replays.

Now, I'm a strong supporter of the Move for competitive multiplayer. For me it's a much better way to play. It's accuracy is phenomenal. It greatly outperforms the DualShock, in my opinion. I haven't played much of KZ3 multiplayer yet, but when the Beta ended, my K/D ratio was over 2:1 with anywhere from 40-60 kills per warzone match. I love it. Having said that, the SharpShooter is more than a little impractical for competitive online play. Using it to play against Veteran or Elite difficulty AI "bots" in the campaign is one thing, but using it to navigate new maps against human players is something completely different. Though once I familiarize myself with the new maps' geography, I'll give it another try.

So quick break down:

** Too lazy to read the whole review? PROS / CONS: **

PROS:

* Very well contructed.

* Incredibly accurate.

* Helps provide previously unexperienced levels of immersion.

* Tons of fun to play with.

* Works well with MAG. (though pump-action & magazine reload buttons don't work)

* Works okay with Resident Evil 5.

* Works great with Dead Space Extraction.

CONS:

* Can take a couple minutes to calibrate perfectly

* May need recalibration during game.

* Nav Controller foregrip makes it easy to accidentally reload.

* Impractical for multiplayer.

I'm getting really annoyed reading online reviews about how this product isn't accurate. I will tell you from personal experience that the gun is VERY accurate and the button layout as very easy to use. It's very easy to navigate with through the game. However, dumb gamers will more than likely hook up the sharp shooter, play for 10 min. and then put it away. You have to spend a lot of time both syncing and familiarizing your self with the sharp shooter. You must re-calibrate your move controller AND calibrate the sharpshooter in game. For most gamers, the sensitivity is going to be far to high right away, simply turn it down (I recommend 0). Then, try playing the campaign for a couple hours and you'll get use to it. Do all of these things, and I PROMISE you that the sharp shooter is a VERY valuable product. I've gotten so use to it, I actually prefer it for online play. Keep it mind it will take hours upon hours before most gamers get that familiar with it. Don't let dumb consumers who NEED instant gratification try to tell you this product is bad.

I got this along with Killzone 3 and i also own Deadspace Extraction. I spent some time playing both games with the sharpshooter, and I prefer it to just holding the controller in my hands. The buttons on the sharpshooter are very conveniently located and I was able to reach them without effort or adjusting my grip. While using the sharpshooter I found it was easier to steady my aim and reduced how quickly my arms got fatigued. The build of the product seems fairly sturdy but it does have a couple parts that seem like they could break if you are clumsy or just unlucky. If motion controls are not your thing the sharpshooter will not change your mind and i pretty much guarantee your wife/girlfriend will roll her eyes when you bring this into the house.

Ok I really wanted to like this, but it has flaws. To hold the sharpshooter you should really be standing with the stock against your shoulder. This was surprisingly uncomfortable, and more importantly, holding it with any sort of pressure against the shoulder risks activating the "Pump" action at the front of the gun. I found myself cursing several times at unintentional firings of the pump action. The "Pump" needs a lock or some serious resistance so you won't set it off unless you mean it. It's a design flaw IMHO, as is the stock which can't be removed.

So, resigned to sitting on the couch with the gun by my side, I went about playing the Killzone 3 demo. Turning was the main challenge, and took much practice and calibration in the settings. After hours of playing and calibrating to my liking I was doing nearly as well as with the Dualshock, but having more fun. That said, I was also getting sore in my left arm for extending it for so long and my right hand needed five minutes of flexing as a break.

Other problems were I couldn't reload very easily by rotating the gun, though I hear the full game uses the pump action to reload, and that would be fine (unless you accidentally set off the pump of course.)

The 'melee by stabbing' motion was hard to pull off, and would sometimes turn me around if I didn't connect with an enemy, which meant I would die a second later. I attribute this to the unwieldy nature of using a gun peripheral in this manner.

The jump button has been remapped for Killzone 3 from X to the square beside the trigger. This was wisely done so you can use the Nav. stick to move and still have a button to press for jumping. Unfortunately this means I would need to take my finger off the trigger to jump and then put it back, which is harder than it sounds, or use the middle finger for trigger as my index presses buttons. Neither is ideal, and I like to jump a lot in my FPS.

Lastly, the fact that the move controller is not in my hand but on the end of the gun-barrel changes the way the move reacts in game. I didn't realize how much of a difference until, in semi-frustration, I removed the move controllers from the sharpshooter and played with move control alone. It was a revelation. Everything I mentioned, reloading, melee, jumping, all solved. Buttons were all easy to reach. Movements, response, and turning were not just manageable but better than dualshock! In fact I dominated the Killzone demo so well that I will never go back to dualshock, or the sharpshooter for that matter. Good job, Sony, for making the Move controller work so perfectly. Oh, and it was comfortable; I could have played with the move alone all day.

In summary:

***Positives: Feels like you're pointing a gun. Fun for light FPS campaign and rail-shooters. Digital trigger and remapped buttons are real deal!

***Negatives:

Will not improve your game as I had originally thought.

"Pump" action far to easy to activate accidentally.

Stock is uncomfortable, unwieldy when not used, and cannot be removed.

Tiring. Might make you sore after long excursions.

NOT GOOD in online multiplayer (use regular Move here).

Aggravating placement of some buttons compared to using the Move "wand" by itself.

Melee 'stabbing' motions are jarring at best and possibly dangerous to perform.

***Conclusion: Fun alternative if you're not serious about dominating your game. Some flaws could be addressed in a second edition. Move controller is far superior by itself, but doesn't feel like a gun of course.

If you're interested in getting the most out of your move in Killzone, google "iwaggle killzone 3."
