I already own the first generation MadCatz SF4 TE, and I decided I wanted another stick.

I don't play SF4 anymore but I am very much into BlazBlue, and I've not surprisingly ordered Continuum Shift already. This stick is pretty much exactly as the 1st gen TE was when I bought it, the Sanwa pushbuttons and Sanwa JLF stick are as responsive as ever. I personally love the artwork, blue bezel and full piano black sides.

The stick has very clearly been made with Super Street Fighter 4's TE S adjustments in mind, as the Lock key does indeed lock the Start/Select buttons as well, although it keeps the sides unlike the TE S (many would prefer this though, since the TE S's lack of sides can irritate your wrist).

As for the 50 USD price premium over the standard 150 USD SF4 sticks, I believe this is justified because you are paying for a limited run stick. The box it comes in isn't as well-crafted as the SF4 TE box, but the artwork on it and the stick is just fantastic and the 'Limited Run' print just makes it even more special. I think one of the coolest additions is the stick number given on the bottom of the stick, which is given in ####/1500 format. The fact that you can identify which of the 1500 sticks made on each platform you have is a really cool addition.

My final thoughts are -incredible stick, as expected from the MadCatz TE line, and combines the best parts of the TE and TE S in one with great artwork (stick and case) and paint job. For any limited run collector's, the 50 USD premium should be completely fine. Personally I had to also pay import fees to Canada, and I still think it was worth it since I am a huge BlazBlue fan and I also like collecting limited editions. Too bad there is no North American Continuum Shift LE, that would be the perfect complement to this stick.

I ordered this on amazon and got it in the same week. The packaging and everything was great. Completely satisfied with that.

It's newer than the round 2 TE so it should have the latest PCB inside as in a better one than the original TE. plus it's cheaper than the other TE sticks so it is a ficken amazing deal. I think the art looks great and I'm planning on making my own plexi glass cover for it anyways. The button layout is supposedly different than the other TE sticks but I customize my controls anyways so that is not really a problem.

But i did have some issues with the stick.

First the bad:

I received my stick with the R2 button (bottom row 3rd button) not working. I've read in another review here that someone got a madcatz TE stick with one of the buttons unplugged...so i thought maybe the same issue was happening. I decided to go ahead and void the warranty and open it up. To my dismay everything was connected properly. However the button felt loose from the bottom. After messing around with it for some time, the button base clicked and i thought i broke it :(. I then pressed the button and it snapped back into place and it started working just fine. In trying to put the thing back together, i discovered the source of the problem. The bundle of wires is zip tied and sits right under the buttons. It happened to press up against the button in question which was what was causing the problem. I had to cut the zip tie to close it back up without affecting the buttons.

Now on to the actual stick:

It's great like everyone says. If you're like me and this is you're first arcade stick, it takes some time to get used. Not just the layout but rather the sensitivity of the buttons. The sanwa buttons are so sensitive that if you graze them, they'll register. This is great for when you're used to the stick but I find myself constantly hitting things i didn't mean to at the beginning. Also the timing becomes different since the buttons do register so easily. I found myself hitting the buttons too early using the same timing as a game pad. Once you get used to it though, it is awesome.

The square gate is fine for me. I'm shooting off fireballs at will after a few minutes with the stick. Also i like that it catches in the corner if i want it for dragon punch inputs since I tend to over rotate before and likely would still over rotate with a octagon gate.

Overall the stick is great just like everyone says.

It has a good weight

sit well on on your lap or on a table

super responsive controls

large surface

long cord

The only reason i can't give it full 5 stars is cause my stick came to me not working and required me to void the warranty to fix it.

This is my first time owning an arcade stick. I have been an avid fan of fighting games and have always loved to play these at the arcades. I was always more familiar with the controller because I've always owned fighters like Tekken, Marvel Vs. Capcom, Street Fighter, etc. After playing on this stick for a few hours, I must admit that it is the best experience I have had with any. Now I've never owned a stick at home, but from what I've played at various arcades all across the US, this is by far the most comfortable stick I have ever played on. The buttons are all very evenly spaced so it doesn't feel like the buttons are out of reach and the feel of the buttons and joystick are superb. I especially like the little clicking function it has on the 8 way directional joystick because this is a square gate restrictor and sometimes people will have problems doing a dragon punch or similar moves. It also feels very comfortable on the lap, not too heavy and doesn't leave a print. If you want to use it on a table though, it has rubber stoppers so it won't leave an imprint as well. The greatest asset, though (for a fighting stick anyway), is the fact that there is absolutely no input lag. This characteristic is paramount for anyone considering an arcade stick because precision is very key in fighting games. One wrong move and you will usually be punished. Finally, there is a small hatch for the usb wire to go into, meaning that this is a wired arcade stick, which is great because you can bring it to tournaments without fear. I would recommend this one to anyone who is considering buying an arcade stick. I used to think that Madcatz did not know how to make a good product because my friend got a wireless controller from them and it died immediately after he bought it, but this was a few years ago. I am certainly glad I gave them another chance after hearing about the great Tournament Edition sticks because this one is certainly a keeper.

For those of you that don't want to read the long paragraph, I'll lay out the pros here in bullet form.

-Great spacing for buttons

-clicking function for 8-way directional joystick helps if you need assistance with doing moves like dragon punch because of square gate.

-not too heavy or too light, so playable on table or lap

-small hatch for usb cable to be stored away

-No input lag whatsoever

-great artwork

-limited edition, only 1500 made (if you're into that sort of thing)

Been a long time fixture online in Super Street Fighter 4 and have been meaning on making the jump to a proper tournament quality stick. Just got the BlazBlue TE Fightstick and have been using it non stop for a few days. My impressions of the stick is that the design is beautiful, neater looking, in my opinion, than the SSF4 TE stick. Everything works top notch, the Sanwa parts are as amazing as always.

Highly Recommended.

This review is for the Rage "Anarchy Edition" Version for the PS3.

I've been a Big Fan of ID Software since the early days of Wolfenstein and Doom Franchises, My favorite being Doom3. Their games have always been fun, engaging, exciting, and at the same time a little terrifying which gives you even more of a thrill. This is ID's First New Title Since either Doom or Quake franchises along with sporting ID's new Game Engine ID Tech 5 and released under ID's new Publisher and Owner Bethesda.

Background: The Best way I can describe the game visually is if this game was made into a movie it would look and feel like Mad Max: The Road Warrior with the characters and FPS Feel of the Doom 3 Video Game. The games mechanics and interaction feels like and updated version of a Computer Game that I used to play as a teenager back in the Mid 1980's for the Commodore 64 called AutoDuel (This was also released on the Apple II, Atari 400/800 as well). In the game you play as a post apocalypse character that goes from town to town in a Modified Post Apocalypse vehicle (Similar to Rage) to undertake missions, Races, Gambling and so forth. With the money you earn you can upgrade your vehicle or weapons and sell items back that you may not need. Of course the game did not have the FPS aspect to it but their are a lot of similarities to the other aspects that I mentioned between AutoDuel and RAGE.

Plot: In the year 2029 the asteroid 99942 Apophis impacts the earth and wipes out most of humanity (This is an actual asteroid that at one time in 2004 had been predicted to hit the Earth in 2029 but after scientist had gathered more data it is now has been predicted to miss the earth instead, do a Wikipedia Search for "99942 Apophis" for more information). However before the Asteroid impacted the earth The World Leaders decided to create several underground safe havens called "Arks" so after the impact the people that had been in Frozen Stasis would be able to re-build the earth. 106 years later your character awakes from his stasis tube to find that everybody in his Ark has died (Except himself) and the characters particular Ark was heavily damaged which caused the Computers monitoring the Ark stasis tubes to subsequently malfunction with the exception of your charters (Their is no explanation why other than the obvious it was most likely damaged by the asteroid's impact), On top of that due most likely to the malfunctioning stasis units your character has no memory of who he is and what his objectives are. So Now wondering out of the damaged Ark the Survivor attempts to get his bearing until attacked by the new Residents of the Area, The Survivor is summarily saved by a passersby heading back to his settlement by the name of Dan Hagar (Voiced by John Goodman). On the way back to his settlement Dan explains how after the impact had world has basically turned into a post apocalyptic world in which humanity has been dived up into different territories and the most technically advanced of them being the "Authority".

Game-play: As mentioned earlier the game play is for the most part a First Person Shooter (FPS) with Third Person aspect on the Driving Mechanics of the Game. You will start off on small nearby missions in which you will earn weapons, money and most importantly reputation with the more missions you complete. Once you have obtained your own vehicle you will begin exploring the other settlements outside Dan's territory. Along the way you will get to gamble, Enter into Races, Be a contestant on a Thunderdome like reality TV Series called Mutant Bash TV and take on side jobs. You will be able to upgrade your vehicle's parts with "Racing Certificates" won in either Races or on the Bounty of the Bandits you take out for the towns local Bar owners (Why you can not use cash to upgrade your vehicle parts is beyond me).Ultimately your adventures will lead to the confrontation with the games antagonist called the Authority.

Plus Side of the Game: There are tons of cool things about the game I do not know where to begin with.

The ID Tech 5 game engine is awesome, a vast improvement over the ID Tech 4 engine with the characters being very life like. The Graphics overall are just breath taking. The AI's are a lot more interactive and when facing them in combat are a lot smarter than I had played in previous games.

Great Choice of Weapons that can be either found, brought, or even modified.

I love the racing aspect in the game. If you like running into things and causing damage with your car this is the game to do it with.

Minus Side of the Game: There is just one big problem I have with the game and surprisingly enough it not with the game play itself, that is the lack of continuous auto saving.

The Auto Archiving feature on this game will only kick in once a chapter (If your lucky). While it does have a Manuel save option it can be very time consuming to stop playing, go into the menu, and wait about 30 to 60 seconds for the game to "save". So if you forget to Manually save at a certain point in your progress if you die without saving manually you can conceivably start back at almost the beginning of the chapter (This is why I primarily gave the game a 4 instead of a 5).

On the minor side the game tends to have long loads times between going to the next chapter.

The Slight on the game itself is that even through it is theoretically "Open Ended" , The game still controls certain aspects on what you can backtrack and explore on your own.

Special Note: Before accepting the final mission in the RAGE Campaign which is the attack on Capital Prime to upload the awake codes of the other Arks, insure you have completed any side missions, Jobs, Races, or trophies. Once you accept the mission when you have completed the level you will see the story end and the Game Credits after which you will not be allowed to return into the game to complete of the previously mentioned objectives (Unlike "Infamous" which will let you to continue on after the actual "campaign" of the game has ended to complete the side objectives).

The Difference Between the "Anarchy" and "Standard" Editions of Rage:

In addition to the different Weapons, Vehicles, and Armor types that are already present in the "Standard" Edition of Rage you get the following extra Items almost from the Get go...

The Double Barrel Shot Gun (My Favorite, A nice carry over from the Doom Franchise).

The Rat Rod Buggy Similar in the insides of the Buggy from Standard Edition, a nice bonus is if you upgrade either the buggy or the Rat Rod with a better part, the other other vehicle is automatically upgraded (Example: Buy spiked performance tires for the Dune Buggy the Rat Rod is automatically upgraded with the same part as well for no extra charge).

The Crimson Elite Armor A "All-In-One" Armor that combines the special abilities of the other 3 armor types that can be chosen in the Rage "Standard" Edition.

Fists of Rage -You get "Spiked" Gloves that go over your Hands if you want to inflict more damage with your fists.

The Wasteland Sewer Missions This is a additional 9 side missions broken into 2 parts each that is not accessible in the "standard" version of Rage that takes place around just outside of the different territories and settlements (I.E. Wellspring Entrance, Hagar Territory, subway town, etc...) that has you finding and looting the sewers for valuable junk that the mutants collected in the 1st part, then getting paid for going back and exterminating the Mutant Menace from the Sewers in the 2nd part. In the Anarchy Edition Case should be a one time Redemption Code in order to unlock this level as long as you brought this game new. I would advise not picking up a used copy of the Anarchy Edition of Rage since the code will either be missing or no longer valid.

If you were to download the Anarchy Edition content via the PSN (for both the Wasteland Sewer Missions and the extra Items of the Anarchy Edition) it would cost $12.00 altogether if you wanted to upgrade your existing standard edition copy of Rage to the Anarchy Edition level. Please take into this into consideration when contemplating which Edition to buy. If buying new you will end up saving overall on just paying to the $5.00 to $6.00 extra on the Anarchy Edition.

Overall: Other than an ambiguous ending that screams SEQUEL and despite the annoyance of the games save feature, A great new entry into the ID Software franchise, pure fun to play, I would highly recommend this game for anyone who loves a good FPS and Racing Death matches. I'm looking forward to when ID releases the follow up game.

Loved the look and gameplay of Rage. I thought it was what Fallout 3 should have been. It had a short story though that left me wanting more. Seems like I just got really into it and then it was over.

This will be a lengthy and detailed review written (primarily about the system itself) in the form of a Q&A to help make it easier to find whatever topic or question you might be interested in knowing about this product rather than having to read the whole thing. My purpose of being so detailed is simply to help YOU, the customer, make an informed decision before purchasing this product.

Q. What's in the box?

A. Here is everything that is included inside the box (listed in bullet points for viewing convenience):

1 Playstation 3 (Black) "Super Slim" system with 500 GB of Hard Drive space

1 physical copy of the newly released game "Grand Theft Auto V"

1 Playstation 3 Dualshock Wireless Controller (Black)

1 Playstation 3 USB mini cable charging chord (to recharge the controller)

1 power chord to plug into the Playstation 3 (allowing you to turn on the console)

1 set of composite cables (the red, yellow, and white chords for non HD picture)

1 30 day free trial of the Playstation Plus membership service

**This does not come with an HDMI cable.

**This does not come with an Ethernet chord that some of the original "Fat" models were boxed with.

Q. What inputs come with the system?

A. Here is every input/output/slot/whatever the system utilizes (listed in bullet points for viewing convenience):

1 Ethernet Back

1 HDMI out Back

1 Digital out (optical) Back

1 AV Multi out Back

1 AC in Back

2 Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0) Front

Q. I'm into "techno terms." What are some of the specs involved with this system?

A. I'll just cover a summary of some of the essential basics of the hardware involved (if you want to really dissect things, a simple Google search would do you a lot of good). Basically, this system comes with:

500 GB Hard Drive

Cell Broadband Engine CPU

RSX GPU

Bluetooth 2.0 (for use with headsets, wireless keyboards, and other accessories)

Blu-Ray Disc Drive (used to play Blu-Ray movies and can also play DVDs as well)

**The system consumes about 190W of power

**The picture resolution ranges from 480i 1080p

**The system is also capable of being used as a 3D Blu-Ray player. You'll need a 3D TV for this to work.

Q. I've never owned a Playstation 3 before, yet why should I buy this system when the Playstation 4 is coming out November 15?

A. That is a very good question. Yes, this bundle is being released rather late into the Playstation 3's lifespan. Yet that doesn't mean the system doesn't still warrant a purchase. For starters, if you do hold out for a Playstation 4, unfortunately (for now at least), the Playstation 4 will not be backwards compatible. I say "for now at least" because eventually Sony plans on using an extensive cloud-based service to download PS3, PS2, and PS1 titles digitally onto the system. Keeping that in mind, Microsoft announced that they plan to keep the Xbox 360 supported for at least another three years, and while Sony hasn't made any similar announcement, I can't imagine Sony would be too far behind when it comes to continuing support of the Playstation 3.

That being said, if you've never owned a Playstation 3 before, you will have access to a whole library of games out for the system (which continue to decrease in price as the months go by) both via physical copy and digital download through the Playstation Store. Among these are such award winning exclusives such as "The Last Of Us," the "Uncharted" series, the "God of War" series, the "Ratchet and Clank" series, and so much more (let's not forget about the non-exclusive titles). Not to mention there are plenty of excellent games that are still being developed and are to be released for the system (games like Gran Turismo 6, Batman: Arkham Origins (not an exclusive), BEYOND: Two Souls, and Final Fantasy XIII-3 (not an exclusive)). Also there are plenty of "indie" games and "PSN titles" available to download digitally from the Playstation Store (games like "Journey," "Fat Princess," the "PixelJunk" series, and the list goes on).

You can also use the Playstation 3 to access plenty of apps such as Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu Plus, Crackle, and more! Not to mention you can upload pictures, music, and videos onto the Hard Drive. Some games even allow you to play your own uploaded music in the background while playing the game itself (though not all of them do that). With 500GB of space, you will have plenty of room to download a vast array of digital content (whether it be movies or games). You can also backup your files by plugging in an External Hard Drave through the USB slots located on the front of the system.

I know I may sound a bit "preachy," yet I'm simply trying to make a case for those who may have never owned a Playstation 3 before. If you already own the system, then clearly there is no need to purchase this. Unless you're like me of course...my Slim (purchased on release day in 2009) finally got the YLOD (yellow light of death) after years of HEAVY use and so I needed another one. I was already going to get GTAV anyway so for me this bundle made sense. I installed a 500GB Hard Drive into my old system and used up 480GB of it...and it is filled with a lot of games that I still have yet to touch, so for my instance, there is a means to justify rebuying one. I know I know..."cool story, bro."

Q. That's nice and all, but I need more convincing. What else can you say about this bundle?

A. Let's look at some numbers, shall we? This bundle is currently listed on Amazon for $269.99. How does that compare with other bundles/units? Well as far as 500GB consoles go, the only other one that comes close is the one that's just the system itself (which is currently priced at $269.95). As for the other 500 GB bundles? Well they range from $286.58-398.99 (at least at "new" prices). You could always go the "used" route, yet as far as I'm concerned buying a used console comes with risks.

Q. I don't really need 500GB of space on my Hard Drive. Are there any other alternatives?

A. The cheapest unit listed "new" on Amazon right now is the 12GB Playstation 3, which is priced at $199.99. The bad thing about this one though is that it doesn't have an actual Hard Drive. You could also go with some of the 250GB bundles such as the "Uncharted 3" bundle listed at $249.96 or the Sports Champions and Eye Pet Move Bundle priced at $276.94 (not bad if you don't already own a Playstation Move setup and are interested in that sort of motion control thing). I could sit here and talk numbers all day, though it wouldn't matter since prices are sure to fluctuate. By the time you read this these values might be inaccurate.

Q. I've seen the specs, you've listed some reasons for purchase, and you've shown me the numbers. What about GTAV? Can you tell me anything about the game?

A. This section will likely be updated as I go along playing through the game, however I can say that GTAV is the fifth entry in a series of games created by the developers at Rockstar Games. The genre one might consider this game to be is commonly referred to as a "sandbox game" where the player can go around and virtually do whatever they want (though obviously there are some limitations). If it's anything like the last entry (GTAIV), there will be plenty of guns, action, pixelated ladies, trash talk, a great story, and most importantly, lots of fun. This game has earned a reputation for being the most expensive game developed, costing the studio around $265,000,000 to create. It's safe to say that the developers have put a lot of faith, time, and effort into this product.

I might also add that there WILL be a multiplayer mode however it will be released (likely as some sort of patch) for free at a later date (rumored sometime in October). So don't think you have a defective copy without any multiplayer mode, it will be released soon enough.

As stated earlier, as far as the GTA V portion of this review goes, I will be updating it as I continue through my playthrough. However my review focuses mainly on the system and if you are really in an urgent dire need to know more about GTAV, then I'd suggest checking the product page for the game itself.

I do apologize for writing a novel here, yet I hope that this information helps you out in some way. Feel free to leave some questions or comments and I will get back to them as soon as possible.

This is my 1st and probably only video review I'll ever make. Mainly did it just to show the unboxing so you can see what all you're getting in it.

I didn't mention this in the video, but if you ordered this bundle, the promotional code to get your atomic blimp WILL NOT be inside the game case. You should have already received an email from Amazon and your promotional code should be in that email. Only people who ordered the standalone game get the code inside the game case.

Other than that, this bundle is amazing. I'm not entirely sure how much a regular 500gb super slim PS3 is, but I bet you're saving a lot of money getting this bundle compared to getting the two (PS3 and GTA V) separately. Oh and plus you get a free month of PS Plus so yea. If you're like me and you've had your PS3 for years and it's about time for an upgrade, or if you're new to the PS3, this is where you should start.

Also, this IS worth getting even if you plan on upgrading to next gen consoles. There are still lots of games to play currently on the PS3 plus future titles that will be coming out only on PS3 and not PS4. I plan on playing my PS3 for years to come, even when I get my PS4. I was just pointing this out for the people saying it's not worth getting a PS3/Xbox360 atm since next gen is just around the corner.

But yes, this PS3 is awesome. I had to do a data transfer from my old PS3 (the one in the vid) to this one, and it took a while, but it was worth it. Oh, I haven't even talked about the game itself yet. GTA V is amazing. Although I did want a new PS3, GTA V was easily the deciding factor in why I chose to get this bundle.

I own and have played GTA IV, and I did like it. GTA V is just such a massive upgrade from GTA IV. So much more to do, many places to explore. Three main characters which you can switch to at any time as long as you're not in a mission. Each character has a specific power that only they can use. Also, you get to go open-world pretty quickly into the game which is good. What I mean by that is, usually in a GTA game, there's a certain amount of time at the very beginning where you have to play the story before you're allowed to go wherever you want and do whatever you want.

Graphically it looks better than GTA IV, and it's just so much more vast. GTA V is on a whole nother level than all the previous GTA games. Also they finally fixed the driving mechanics in V compared to IV. That was such a pain. One wrong touch of the analog stick won't make you go spinning out of control anymore. Also, my friend let me try his Pulse GTA V elite headset that is speciically tailored to the PS3 version of GTA V. If only I had an extra $180 to spend. Those headsets makes the gameplay feel so much more immersive.

I'm reviewing more of the bundle itself rather than the game. You should check out one of the other reviews or just look at the reviews in the actual GTA V section on Amazon if you want a review that's more about the game itelf. (just the standalone game reviews and not the reviews for this bundle).

Overall, I give this bundle and the game GTA V both 5/5 stars. Honestly, I think this game deserves all the hype it's been getting. Especially after playing it hands on. Unless you're not into sandbox games or you're turned off by some of the vulgarity that is constant across most GTA games, you should definitely pick this up. Unless you're one of those people waiting for a PC/next-gen version to be released.

Anyways, Can't wait to spend countless hours doing random stuff on GTA V. Don't even get me started on multiplayer. Hope this helps!

Ok so Ive been a PC gamer all my life.. The though of a console would give me a feeling of being "tied down" to a platform and certain specs that came with it. As a PC gamer you can update your rig, and push the boundaries of graphics on any game. Here is where the problem lies. The greatest game of all times GTA 5 being released and its not being released on PC first instead consoles. So I took the leap of faith and purchased myself this PS3 Console bundle with a copy of GTA-5. To say the latest, I could not be any more happier. PS3 is a great system, ultra fast, instant responses, and for $269 this deal is a steal!!! The game just itself is $59 with tax your well into $65-68 so when you look at it this way your getting a 500 GIGS PS3 with a wireless controller for $199 bucks.. In order for me to max this game out on my PC if/and when it comes out i would probably have to spend $200-300 on a new graphics card itself and here with this bundle I got the game, the system, and everything to have fun right in the box for as much as a standard graphics card cots for PC. Setup was a breeze, and before you know it I was smiling like a kid while jetting down Los Santos... and I got 3 other games on the way (Uncharted2,3 and the Last of Us!) I could not be any more happier!!! I feel I will be spending a lot of my fall/winter months with my new found love... in Summary I LOVE MY PS3! and my GTA5!! This bundle is the shiet! YEEEEHAA!!

This is by far the best deal on a PS3 EVER. You're getting a very decent 500GB HD along with this year's most anticipated game: GTA5. So I'm basically paying for the 12GB $199 model and getting a 500GB HD upgrade for $10 along with this year's most anticipated game. Awesome

!

Even though the PS4 is around the corner, the PS3 still has a LOT going for it for the next couple of years with at least 5 highly anticipated EXCLUSIVE titles coming before the end of the year (Beyond: Two Souls, Puppeteer, rain, FFX HD and Gran Turismo 6). Swallow that Xbox fanboys!

I have absolute no rush in getting a next gen system for the foreseeable future as I will wait for them to work out the bugs, lower the prices and release slimmer more efficient versions so I'm counting on my buddy PS3 for plenty of good times for the next 2-3 years at least! Plus, my PS+ subscription is good through 2015 and they will keep supporting the PS3 with free excellent games from its already outstanding gaming library. If you ask me, NOW is the best time EVER to get a PS3. See you online!

Want PS3 500 GB Grand Theft Auto V Bundle Discount?

If you're in the market for a PS3 system, as of this writing in September 2013 this 500 GB GTA V bundle is the one to get.

From a value perspective this is a fantastic deal as the current base model PS3 is priced at $199 with a paltry 12 GB of hard drive storage. With this GTA-V bundle system you are paying $70 extra for a 500 GB hard drive, a free copy of GTA-V (priced at $60 and unlikely to be discounted anytime soon) and 1 free month of Playstation Plus. With my free month of PS+ activated I immediately downloaded FREE digital versions of 'Xcom Enemy Unknown,' 'Uncharted 3,' 'Saints Row 3,' and 'Machinarium.' Keep in mind that there were a good variety of other free PS+ games available but for now I was more than content with my initial batch of downloads which provided an added layer of immense value on top of an already generously priced bundle package.

Previously I've owned an 80gb PS3 Phat and after years of dedicated service that system was getting long in the tooth and the fan would screech at unbearably loud levels after gaming or watching blu-rays for 10 minutes so an upgrade was definitely in order as I expect to keep playing my PS3 for at least several years due to the backlog of physical games I have yet to complete as well as the monthly offerings from PS+. If you're upgrading from an OG Phat to these new super-slim models here are some of the major differences you'll notice:

+The new systems run super quiet. There is almost no discernible fan noise even after 6 hour+ gaming sessions.

+You will, however, hear disc access noise. Unlike the old ps3's the super slim uses cheaper manual slide out access panels to insert/remove discs so when the disc spins you will notice the noise. With that said, its not unbearable just noticeable but this tradeoff is completely reasonable in exchange for the near silent fan noise.

+System is compact and light. The old PS3's are heavy with a big footprint. These super-slims live up their billing and are light and much easier to transport or move around.

If you're in the market for a copy of GTA-V and in need of a new PS3 (or considering upgrading from your old version) this system bundle is certainly the way to go.

I had to return the PS3, it froze up a lot. Looking up online, the processors like to go bad...and these are now older so when you buy used you take a chance of getting a bad one.

This one came in not so good shape, tape residue and dusty (like by the vents/fan). If you're going to sell something used at least clean it up.

I returned it.

This cover has awesome graphics and makes the Guitar controler look pretty sweet! The only problem that I've had with it which is the same with almost all the others similarly to it, is that they never seem to be cut-out just right for the controllers and that makes it hard to put the on. It seems there's always a couple of places that show out from undr the sticker but its kinda hard to notice unless you take a good look at it. But all in all I recommend it, they do look pretty sweet with them on! I've got quite a few compliments on mine! Another great thing about them is they never leave any kind of a residue or mess when taking them off and there easy to take off and replace with another but they can only be used once. Thanks,

I have been playing video games since I first obtained the original NES (which I still have and play) back in the early 90's, and never have I had such a wonderful time playing a video game! There were many times I literally squealed out loud in delight at elements taking place within the game. I will not rehash the details of the game (which you can find above in the item description), but I will tell you on my first foray in Toy Box mode I played for four hours straight and would have played even longer had it not been for the late hour and work in the early morning.

The options and elements to customize are vast...you can alter the appearance of buildings (and townspeople by giving them the heave-ho into any building you have customized), as well as purchase and place new buildings (some allow for placement options and others do not) so you are altering the landscape of the entire town. Customizations are easy and hilarious (giant Nemo fins are on the sides of my jail right now).

Everything is an event, from completing a mission (it's a party!) to the arrival of new toys (it's actually really excitement-inducing to see the stagecoach coming with your huge "present" even though you know what it is), to mining for gold, to riding Bullseye around and hearing the wonderful sound effects. As expected, the graphics are amazing with only a hint of jerkiness here and there. Sound effects are spot on and the game features most of the original voice cast from the films (another major bonus).

The reward system seems very balanced; they make it easy enough to earn gold coins to purchase new items (buildings, toys, etc.), but you are never sitting on all that many coins because so many new items are being unlocked for purchase all the time. Each new toy you purchase comes with new missions you can complete and the open world format is just a joy to tromp around in to complete them. The mission log is also very helpful, as is the compass feature which can be a real boon if you are stuck trying to complete any one task.

I can honestly say I can not wait to play this game again. Some games when purchased have a shelf life, but Toy Story 3 will live on my shelf forever. I can not recommend this game highly enough...and I haven't even touched Story Mode yet!

Viva Toy Story 3!

*** In addendum ***

A few things I have noticed after several days of gameplay that I felt were worth noting are the time consuming loading screens and the difficulty maneuvering motorized vehicles (although this could just be a lack of coordination on my part). For a game such as this, it seems the loads are far too frequent and of too long a duration. I'm not sure if this is only on the PS3 version, but it is a bit of a frustration at times.

As for the vehicles...like I said, I don't know if it is just my lack of coordination, but I seem to have a real issue getting the cars to go in the direction I am trying to go. Any of the creatures I am just fine with (Bullseye, the Dragon, etc.) but those dang cars...

Also, the robbers at the bank and the attacks on the town can be a little random. Even if you are standing right next to the bank you can miss some of the bandits and lose some of your gold coins which is nonsensical to me. Fortunately my bank is right across from my jail so I just turn around and toss them in. :)

Despite these additional issues, I am still loving the heck out of this game. Truly a grand time!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program + PROS:

+ Infinite lives

+ Reduced difficulty after 7 deaths in a row

+ Co-op play

+ The voice acting and music are SUPERB

+ Free roam Toy Box mode offers lots of fun and creativity

+ Only the PS3 version offers the ability to play as Zurg

+ Compatible with the Playstation Move

CONS:

Some platform jumps are very difficult for younger gamers

The game and the instruction manual do not explain the reduced difficulty option

No instructions on how to switch 1P and 2P camera angles

Zurg is NOT immediately available; he has to be unlocked.

There is only one shooting stage that works with the Playstation Move, NOT Story Mode or Toy Box Mode.

I played this game with my child and we decided the only way to do a proper review was to offer both our viewpoints. So without any further ado, here's what we thought!

CHAPTER ONE: Train Rescue

My thoughts: Woody played the action hero to a T, as he raced off to save a train full of orphans from the evil Dr. Porkchop. It fit the overall mood of Toy Story and I was very impressed. The jumping puzzles weren't too difficult to figure out here.

Quotes from my child: "When I first played Woody, I thought the game would be easy and hard too. I died a lot, but when I figured out how to jump and move around, I liked trying to help the orphans. Those orphans needed to be saved. I felt happy not leaving any of them behind and getting a trophy."

CHAPTER TWO: Andy's House

My thoughts: Unlike the first level's imaginary setting, our characters are set up in "Toy Reality" we have to move around the room/basement with the limitations that a toy would go through. This level is designed to get us used to each character's strengths and weaknesses like Jesse being able to land on small areas, Woody using his pull string as a lasso, and Buzz throwing each character across long distances.

Quotes from my child: "When I was trying to get the cell phone, I knew this would be hard. My dad helped me when I got frustrated. When we got to the basement, my dad had to explain how the paratroopers flew. It was tricky getting to the cordless phone, but we figured it out."

CHAPTER THREE: Buzz Videogame

My thoughts: This level was a lot harder than the previous two levels. It involved platform jumping, but unlike games like Super Mario Bros., this added the dimension of depth. The jumping goes from being challenging to extremely frustrating, especially for younger gamers.

Quotes from my child: "There were 3 parts to this level. The first was the shooting part the game told me how to shoot the boulders, but I had to dodge rocks while flying and that was hard. The next part was jumping around on moon rocks and I thought that was hard too. There were so many broken pieces and I fell a lot. I didn't understand the part with shooting the crystals at first. The 3rd part was Zurg's fortress, and when those big spikes came at me I knew I would die, I had to run towards "me" which was confusing."

CHAPTER FOUR: Sunnyside Daycare.

My thoughts: This level was fun, but it's another one based in "Toy Reality" you have to do a lot of platform jumping to get to the lights, and if you have brought the wrong character, it wastes time. Getting the special cards is not easy because you have to complete carnival games, which are tough for an old gamer like me, and extremely frustrating for younger gamers.

Quotes from my child: "I needed my dad's help to play this level because there were hard games like hitting all the aliens without missing any. I got angry when I would miss a jump and fall off the lights. There were lots of jumps."

CHAPTER FIVE: Bonnie's House

My Thoughts: This level introduced some hard elements up until now, we had platform jumps that were difficult, but on this level, the jumps have time limits. Instead of playing the game at a relaxed pace, now we have to run and complete jumps before we drown in coffee or fall to our deaths. This stage includes rail sliding on the spaceship, which reminded me of Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction. We also had to pick up batteries...one false move and we had to go back and get the battery again.

Quotes from my child: "I drowned. A LOT. This level wasn't easy, I couldn't figure out where to jump. The rail sliding on the spaceship was super fast and tricky. The part with the peppermints made me angry because I fell a lot. I told my dad I'd have to be at least 15 years old to get past this part. I wanted to take breaks from playing because it kept getting harder with every level."

CHAPTER SIX: Prison Break

My Thoughts: As if the game wasn't hard enough, now a stealth element is added. We return to Sunnyside Daycare at nighttime, and the main goal of this level is to rescue your trapped toy friends. Buzz is not selectable, and you have to avoid searchlights while you wander around. Michael Scofield would be proud that I got through this level without being spotted.

Quotes from my child: "I kept getting caught! This wasn't as hard as Bonnie's house but I still needed help. I got mad when the lights found me but at least I wasn't drowning in coffee!"

CHAPTER SEVEN: Junkyard

My Thoughts: The first part of this level is saving 3 aliens from a chop-o-matic trash machine. Two player assistance is recommended but not required. If you haven't gotten used to switching between characters yet, this next part forces it on you. We have to save our friends before they are melted, crushed, and sliced into fish bait. Each character has a specific task that must be completed for the other two characters to move forward.

Quotes from my child: "I kept getting sad on this level because I didn't want Slinky or Hamm or anyone else to get hurt and when we didn't know what to do quick enough, I knew they wouldn't make it. My dad had to play most of this level."

CHAPTER EIGHT: Haunted Bakery

My Thoughts: After all the previous stages, this level was a well-deserved change of pace. The level consists of running around and shooting an army of muffins and evil witches (yes, you read that correctly). There's no platform jumping to worry about: just shoot, shoot, shoot, and shoot some more.

Quotes from my child: "Finally, an easy level! My dad kept getting the toy balls and I played as Buzz, shooting the witches with the cannon. We got all the cards and hidden things and I smiled a lot."

TOYBOX MODE:

My Thoughts: This is a free-roam level that has no time limits. Players can unlock new townspeople, go on quests, compete in races, take pictures, buy cars and houses and shops from the Toy Store, it's very fun. Some areas can't be unlocked without performing certain tasks, which is a little confusing for younger gamers.

Quotes from my child: "I like Toy Box. This is a fun part of the game. I can wander around, get lots of gold, buy things from the toy store, and I want to get the little tuba guy who goes under water, he looks cute. I like watching the guy on the construction site when buildings are building. If I get lost, I talk to Mission Pig. If I want a new mission, I talk to Mayor Pig. I don't have to worry about coffee here!"

CONCLUSION?

The music, storyline, voiceovers and character models are extremely faithful to the Toy Story universe.

While it is rated "E" for everyone, that doesn't mean that everyone will have an easy time playing it. For example, In two-player mode, player one is on the left and player 2 is on the right. If you want to switch those camera views, both players have to press the L1 button at the same time. This is not explained in the instruction book or anywhere in the game itself.

If your child gets frustrated by platform games like Super Mario Bros., they'll need your help with Story mode, and that's where the 2-player option really shines. In Toy Box mode, younger gamers will enjoy roaming around and creating their own little town.

Recommended, but not for children who have difficulty with platform games.

P.S. I quit drinking coffee.

The first thing that fans of the "Toy Story 3" videogame will say to me is, "It wasn't made for you. It's for a different audience." Oddly enough, though, those people would be wrong. I love the movie trilogy. I like action/adventure platformers. I like open-world sandbox games.

So, why not a better score?

Well, it basically comes down to this: The Story Mode is decent but way too short, and the Toy Box Mode (while pretty good) isn't enough to keep me playing.

The 8-level Story Mode has some brilliant stages that step off the beaten path. But a couple of the levels are just lazy, particularly the Sunnyside Day Care levels. Honestly, parts of this Story Mode are so amazing that the weaker parts felt like insults to me. Considering how dramatic these movies are, I was surprised they didn't try to take advantage of those thematic opportunities. At least there are a few surprises in store.

The Toy Box Mode is sure to be the favorite aspect of the "Toy Story 3" videogame, and rightfully so. It takes a while to get going, because there isn't much to do while you're learning to play the game. But then there are all sorts of toys to buy, places to explore, neat missions to accomplish, and it eventually feels like a living breathing world of toys. I think what I missed from this Toy Box Mode, though, was a sense of urgency to continue. Other open-world titles like "InFamous", "Grand Theft Auto IV", and "Fallout: New Vegas" had a narrative that compelled me to keep playing, even if I wasn't sure I really wanted to. But with this game's Toy Box Mode, it starts to feel more like a checklist. An amusing, colorful checklist to be sure, but because there's nothing extraordinary about the gameplay mechanics, it's just not enough.

The best compliment and harshest criticism to give to the "Toy Story 3" videogame is that it makes you feel like you're playing with a whole bunch of toys. When you're in the right mood, the game can be a lot of fun. But after a while, playing with the toys isn't enough. There has to be something more to draw you in. Because the Story Mode doesn't use the film's drama, it's simply 8 action stages that aren't worth playing more than twice. And the Toy Box Mode, for all of the unlockables and customization available, didn't make me feel like I'd accomplished anything.

Don't get me wrong, "Toy Story 3" is one of the better licensed games out there, and it's surprisingly solid. But I still don't think it's worth owning. Just because it's better than most movie-based or TV-based garbage doesn't mean you should fork the cash.

This is a great game for children and adults alike. If you like the Toy Story movie series, you will enjoy this game. My 4 yr old son and I enjoy playing this game for hours, and we have not even gotten into all the areas. I would recommend this for both children and adults with children. I also see they are coming out with DLC on the PSN for it..minigames moderatley priced at $0.99 a piece. Plus when the Move controller is released later this year..it will be patched for even more fun.

I will add more after we play the game more, since was just released yesterday.

I have played many movie based games, and this is by far the best one so far. Especially with all the original Pixar animations and voices from the movie!

Highly Recommended!

Want Toy Story 3 The Video Game Discount?

Yeah yeah, we all know how people review games based on movies. They start out with how the track record for them isn't very good, then tell you that the product in question is either just another waste of money, or something surprisingly good. Usually it's the former. Toy Story 3 here isn't one of those games, and the reviews have mostly been in its favor since it came out. It surprised me, and what surprised me even more was when I played it for the first time, and seeing how solid it is. But playing through the game, I noticed a few things that keep this from being up there with the likes of the SpongeBob Squarepants Movie game, Ghostbusters and several others. But even then, this is something that younger kids and adults can enjoy, and definitely a fun game for families to play together and help eachother out with.

Chances are, if you're interested in the game, you've seen Toy Story 3, or at least know the plot summary. Woody and the others are worried about what's going to happen to them now that Andy's moving out and going to college, and they don't want to end up in the trash, but still don't want to be stuck in the attic for who knows how long. They end up being donated to a day care where things aren't as nice as they seem at first, and the whole thing turns into yet another prison escape kinda deal. The game is a platformer, meaning you'll be doing tons of running, jumping and collecting things. Most of the time you'll be able to play as Woody, Buzz and Jessie, each with their own unique ability to help you progress to the next level. Woody can use his pull-string to swing around, Jessie can do...some weird spin jump that lets her reach certain areas, and Buzz can do a cool tackle move and fly around in some levels and shoot his laser. Some levels will let you ride around on Bullseye, others have a kind of roller coaster design as you slide around on rails to get key items, and then there's the Toy Box mode, which almost counts as a second game. It's a separate area from the main game that you can select on the menu, and here you can customize a toy town, go on tons of little quests for other toys, earn new characters to populate it with, and unlock numerous trophies. It's very well made, and I spent way more time here than I did with the story mode.

All in all, the story mode is pretty good. It tells the story of the movie with a couple of big parts taken out, or characters removed probably due to copyrights (the cymbal monkey is nowhere to be found in ANY TS3 merchandise, and the game continues this trend). A lot of the levels are based on things in the movie, like the first level being from the imagination/pretend opening in the movie with Woody trying to stop Dr. Porkchop. They're fairly simple to navigate through, but the camera is what'll screw you over more often than not, usually when you have to time a jump just right to a moving platform. It got so bad in one level to the point where I had to just stop playing for a while, cool down, then return a few hours later and try another 30 times before I made the jump. This doesn't happen -toofrequently, but when it does, it ruins the flow of the game. The camera will be positioned a little too high or low, and since you can't move it around with the shoulder buttons of right analog stick, there's no fixing it. The other problem I have with the game is that a couple of levels drag on for way too long. The roller coaster rail one where you play as Woody comes to mind immediately, and I slunked in my chair when I found out I had to collect more batteries to finish the level. Luckily everything in the Toy Box mode is problem-free, and like I said, I enjoyed this part of the game a lot more than the story mode. Time flew by when I first started my town there, and kids will have a lot of fun with this portion if they get sick of the couple of long levels in story mode.

The graphics are as good as you can get for a game like this, and everything fits the Toy Story style perfectly. I rarely noticed any slowdown, even in some of the faster paced levels like those where you fly around as Buzz. The voice actors all did an excellent job with their characters too, and the music is recognizable from the get-go. No generic background filler here.

I know I might sound like I'm contradicting myself by saying that the story mode is pretty good, but has big problems. But compared to a couple of other movie-based games I've played in the last year, I won't let those ruin things for me. As you can see, I'm giving this game 4 stars for fun, with the Toy Box mode being the main thing that kept me coming back for more. But that awful camera at the worst times takes off a star from the overall score, as does the overly long levels. If I could, I'd give Toy Story 3 a 3.5/5 instead of just a 3. It's definitely worth the money, especially with the recent price drop, and a good platformer for all ages, but it could've used a little more polish. At the very least, rent or borrow this one.

This product will get the job done. The height adjuster seems like it may give in time. But I've had the stand for several months now and it has held up pretty well. If you're hardcore about your microphone stand usage, it may be better served to get a more steady metal stand over this one.

The package includes all the needed accessories and a wire holder for your microphone. I found the wire holder to be pretty useless and not really all that effective. The grip on the microphone has remained intact and I am pleased with my purchase.

This mic stand is great. It adjusts vertically to such a degree that my son can sit on a chair and use it shortened (e.g., while playing the keyboard, although it takes some maneuvering) or stand with it lengthened. I personally love standing with it; makes me feel like a "real singer."

I would recommend this stand although I do want to point out that there seems to be no way to lock the angle of the mic so the only way we have found to keep the mic from rolling back into a vertical position is to wrap the cord around the stand and loosen or tighten as needed. However, for all I know this is the intended function; in any case, it shouldn't deter anyone from purchase.

I should have listened to the other reviews that state the gun only works some of the time and saved money by ordering just the game. I ordered this set for my husband for Christmas. Gave it to him early as a surprise. The game is great. The gun is a complete waste of money! It's been 4 days now since he's had the gun and has not been able to play a single game with it. It has so far worked for a total of about 5 minutes and that was as the analog controller. We have not been able to get the move controller to work with the gun.

It's important for people to know that this gun was not really designed for the PS3 Move. The navigation controller that comes with the gun is specific to the gun only it correlates to the left side of the PS3 Dual Shock Controller. It will not function as a PS3 Move Navigation Controller. We cannot get the trigger to work with the Move Controller. The Eye Camera will only sometimes register the controller when it's in the gun. None of the other buttons work with the Move Controller.

I went to the manufacturer's website and downloaded the instructions (not included)which are very poorly put together and do not explain much. It doesn't appear there is any other tech support for this gun. I have seen this set selling for $99 yet you have to use 2 AAA batteries (not included) for the gun to work. If they are going to charge this much I would expect a gun that is better designed, utilizes BlueTooth,is rechargeable, etc. I thought this was going to be a great savings as you are supposed to be able to use this as an analog and move controller and you get a game, but it's not. The button placement is wonderful but only if you get the gun to work. Save your money and buy the game and invest in another type of gun. For now it looks like my husband has a great game to play and the kids will have a toy gun to play with. It's pretty much useless as a controller!!

The PS3 version of the game -the version I am reviewing -is almost as good as the PC version but has some significant differences. First the PS3 version of the game graphically speaking is very much inferior to the PC version. I would compare the PS3 graphics to that of a low end PC. Secondly, in order to keep the frame rate somewhat stable the developers decided to cut frames of animation from NPCS, and other player characters while playing on PS3. This means that when you are running around in the world or in town and you run into other players or NPC's you will see them running looking quite strange. To put it bluntly it looks like everyone running around is Mr. Game & Watch. You get about 1/2 the frames of animation that you would normally get on the PC version and it makes the PS3 version feel a lot less smooth. Don't get me wrong however, your character still very fluid and fully animated. The developers made sure that YOUR character was fully animated and had the most graphical detail out of the entire displayable game world. The Frame rate is decent most of the time but when you get into large events with more than 5 people trying to kill monsters at the same time it does drop down below 30. If you are around more than about 8 people fighting at the same time it will only display the 4-5 closest to you at any given moment in order to keep your frame rate at least roughly above 20. The game is perfectly playable in any situation and these few differences between the two versions should only detour those players who feel they have to have the most graphically impressive and buttery smooth version of the game. If you have a PC that could only run this game on low and maybe even medium-low mix settings then the PS3 version is likely not going to be a bad alternative. If however your computer can handle the game at medium or medium high / high settings then you are better off getting it for PC.

The rest of the game is identical to every other review out there so go and read those for a description of the product itself. I just wanted to make note of these few differences between the PS3 and PC versions.

If you played the original FFXIV a few years ago, throw everything about your experience with that out the window. A Realm Reborn (ARR) is what Square Enix needed this to be; a total 180.

Battle System:

Starting with FFXI and running through the original XIV, the battles had been... boring, for lack of a better word. It was basically you could do a fight while watching TV, looking over every 45 seconds to see if you have enough TP built up to hit your macro.

FFXIV battles are much more like World of Warcraft (or other modern MMOs.) The red circles show up to show what the area of the enemies attack is (if it's a cone it will show the cone, etc.) and you have to avoid it. The pace is much quicker. You have your hotbars to show your skills, and the interface is resizable (Medium-Large-Small sizes for each window.) There are combos between some of your skills, so you get used to using them in a certain order but there isn't a need for 15 hotbars on your screen like in WoW. I'd say it's a pretty happy balance between being stale and being overloaded with too much to do. I'm very happy with this.

Okay, so there are jobs and there are classes. You start out with basic classes, and once you hit 30 in one class and 15 in another (the combinations vary) you can undertake a quest to gain a job. The job is just a crystal that you equip, and it gives you access/turns you into that class while you have that gear set on. Each class is tied to a weapon-type. If you played FFXI, then it's pretty much the same thing but more streamlined. Basically, to switch to a different class or job, you just need to switch to a specific type of weapon. For example, to change into a Dragoon you would equip a polearm. To switch to a Black Mage, just equip a wand.

One of my favorite things about ARR is this feature. You don't need to go to a town or talk to a NPC. How many times have you been in a dungeon/instance and the tank or healer had to leave? As long as you're not in combat, you can switch classes. Also, once you get to a high enough level (I think it's 15) you can bring a number of skills from one class/job to your current one. Quick example: Conjurer gets Protection at level 8 and you switch over to a Warrior. You can choose to bring Protection to cast on yourself while your a Warrior.

Community:

I played FFXI for 2 years and that community is very mature and extremely helpful. ARR is the new shiny toy in the genre. The community is helpful and nice. I would be shocked if the community doesn't replicate FFXI community after a month.

PVP:

Square is going to add two forms of PvP to A Realm Reborn. The first is a `casual' form of PvP set to launch with the game. This will allow players to do battle in 4v4 or 8v8 arrangements.

Square Enix is also making unique gear sets and even separate PvP skills available as rewards for participating in PvP. The second will feature large scale battles. There is no open world PVP.

Like every highly anticipated MMO, it has been difficult at times to log in. This is like the new ride at the theme park or the best place to get Sunday morning breakfast in your town. Everyone knows about it and is trying to get a spot. This is a thread among every MMO. SWTOR had 3 hour wait queues and GW2 was up there for a while. No MMO has a perfect launch.

PS3 and PC play on the same servers, so you can party with your friends regardless of what you're playing on.

I've been playing Final Fantasy since the original on the NES, with my favorite being FF6. The music, classes, story and environment are all here. I stepped into ARR with a very cautious mindset.

As an old-school Final Fantasy fan, I'm happy to say that this game reminds me of the glory years back on the NES, SNES and PS1.

I really loved playing this game. It was a lot of fun... what I could see of it. The character creation, the gameplay, the storyline, the Final Fantasy world, the battle system, everything was really well done.

But... Many users are experiencing a flickering image in the game, myself included. Different parts of the screen flicker randomly and non-stop. The picture decays, gets worse, and eventually goes completely black (except for the dialog boxes which look just fine).

I tried a number of settings changes to try to downgrade the graphics output of the game and the PS3, but neither helped. I contacted Square-Enix for tech support, but I haven't heard back for over a week (not surprising, as they've been struggling to simply keep the game servers stable at this point).

I've seen the suggestion from some that the flickering image is because of a damaged graphics processor in the PS3, but no other games (modern games included) have this issue. How could it be that numerous users can play other games fine, but suddenly have a damaged GPU as soon as we put FFXIV into the system?

I wonder if this issue is related to the fact that I have a launch-day PS3. Is the hardware less capable on this older version of the PS3 than on more recent models, and Square-Enix didn't test on it?

The other big disappointment: Do a search on Amazon's product description for this game for "fees" or "subscription". You won't find either. But after the first 30 days, a subscription is required, at a minimum cost of $12.99/mo for 6 months. Dare I say, bait and switch? A mandatory $77.94 to be able to play the game you already paid $40 for? I know this isn't unprecedented in the world of MMOs. But, neither is free-to-play MMOs that only charge for add-ons, expansion packs, etc. And honestly, it's a hefty price for a casual gamer who only gets on a few times a month. So, I'm disappointed at the price, but I'm frustrated that it's not even mentioned in the game description. That said, I was reluctantly willing to pay the piper, as I was extremely enthusiastic to play what looks to be an amazing game, but since it doesn't work on my PS3, I'm not going to be doing that.

I have a PS4 on order. Maybe I'll come back to the game once that's delivered. But, for now, I can't play when every few seconds to a few minutes, the game goes to black and I can't do anything until I restart or use the HUD to try making my way to another area of the game so the screen will reload.

I love FInal Fantasy 14: ARR. It's a traditional-feeling MMORPG with enough twists to make it unique, addicting, and just plain fun. But one thing holds it back -the elitist community members.

After I hit level 50 and started learning the new dungeons/Primal fights, I found myself being paired with more and more people who were ruthless with their criticism. Not only would they say nasty things about a person struggling with their toon (i.e. character), they would then blacklist (i.e. ban) these people who didn't do well so that these folks would no longer have others to team with. I've been told this attitude is pervasive in all MMORPGs, but seriously, it's got to stop. It's a game. FF14: ARR's Duty Finder tool is supposed to be the answer to this problem but being paired with random people has yet to work for me and others I've come across, especially with the Hard Mode Primal Fights or Coil. I'd rather pay to play a single player game and have fun, than be subjected to text abuse while trying to learn a new fight/dungeon.

At this point I've cancelled my subscription and account to FF14: ARR, and don't plan on going back. I enjoyed my time in Eorzea and while I found a few people who were genuinely nice, my negative encounters coupled with an over reliance on other people to do end-game events, really ruined what had otherwise been a phenomenal experience.

Last thought: Try it out for the 30 Day Trial, but be sure to find a friendly Free Company (i.e. Guild) to do end game events with.

Can one of the crappiest MMORPG's turn it around and become one of the greatest?

---Story---

The story of FFXIV is initially told in the opening cutscene and is continued to be told as the player advances in missions, here's a breakdown of the story with the assistance of Wikipedia:

"Seeking control over the peaceful realm of Eorzea and its abundant crystal resources, the more advanced civilization of the Garlean Empire invades the realm from the north. In retaliation, despite their differences and anatgonisms, the city-states of Eorzea reinstate the Grand Companies--comprehensive centers of command which combine the cities' military and economic assets.

8th Imperial Legion Legatus Nael van Darnus, has his own agenda, insanely bent on purging all he sees as impurities, Nael orchestrated Project Meteor to summon the lesser moon Dalamud and wipe out all life. This forces the Grand Companies to put aside deep-rooted differences and consolidate their forces under the banner of the Eorzean Alliance. At the behest of this new confederation, adventurers from across the realm take up arms and march to the floating islands of Rivenroad to defeat Nael after he absorbed Dalamud's power. However, despite the mad imperial's death, Dalamud continues its descent to Eorzea.

In a final bid to save Eorzea, the Grand Companies turn to the Archon Louisoix, an enigmatic scholar hailing from the forgotten city-state of Sharlayan. Louisoix devises a plan to summon the power of the Twelve, Eorzea's pantheon of guardian deities, to banish Dalamud back to the heavens. But for this to succeed, the rite needs to be performed directly beneath the point of Dalamud's impact: A vast swathe of barren lowlands in central Eorzea known as the Carteneau Flats.

The battle ceases when Dalamud enters the atmosphere while revealed to be a prison created to contain the elder primal, Bahamut. Freed after aeons of imprisonment, Bahamut jump starts the Seventh Umbral Era while unleashing his wrath upon the realm.

Louisoix attempts the ritual to seal Bahamut in vain. Seeing his death certain in the Primal unleashing his ultimate attack, Louisoix summons the last of his strength to call upon the Twelves' power to send the survivors (including the player) into an ethereal rift, where they will be untouched by the passage of time, until it is once again safe for them to emerge and rebuild their ruined land."

---Gameplay---

The gameplay is like most, if not all, MMORPG titles, the player can form parties, join guilds, run dungeons and participate in PvP. Of course, there are various trades the player can perform such as weaving, alchemy, blacksmithing and more, these offer items that might be harder to obtain otherwise and can earn you a nice sum of Gil for rarer items (if sold to players, NPCs offer little to nothing).

The player can freely* switch what class they are, you are not tied to one type. The exception being when you first start, you'll have to reach level 10 and complete your class quests in order to switch, from there you can join a new guild and start working on that class (some skills earned from the previous classes carry over to your new class, but more on that later).

Once you've reached level 10, you can join Guildhests, which are essentially mini dungeons. If you are level 10 in a trade, you can take Guildhests to earn exp and Gil that will help you level faster in said class. Upon completing the required quests, dungeons can also be entered (the first is available at level 15).

---Graphics---

The graphics look pretty good considering how much of a hiccup the first version went trhough. Although since the game is also on the PC, and therefore made FOR the PC, the PS3 version does tend to suffer a few graphical errors, such as the rare bug of enemies not appearing properly on screen, or party members seemingly disappearing despite them being right in-front of you.

When using the chat feature, characters mouths will move with your text, so this is a minute detail, but one that I find pretty cool non-the-less. Facial expressions are well-done as well, so be sure to try them out when you get the chance to do so.

The game has had a nice over-haul since it originally released some years ago, the new graphics engine shows quite well on many characters and skill effects.

---Controls, Voice and Audio---

The controls on the console are a tad tough to learn at first, so I'll try to run them down as thoroughly as possible.

The Cross button is your selector, although since you likely won't have a cursor to use (although you can opt for that), you'll need to be looking at the person you want to talk with, although the game is pretty good at figuring out what you're trying to do.

The Triangle button is simply used for jumping, so there's no need to go into depth on that, it is what it is.

The Circle button allows you to deselect your current target and cancel out of various menus. Simple.

The Square button allows for quick access of the map, which will be very handy when doing quests as the location of various monsters, items, etc will be shown on there.

The d-pad is used to cycle through enemies and friendlies, it takes some getting used to in order to 'master' using it.

All of these buttons take on a different role when either of the R2 or L2 bumpers are held, this brings up your hotbar for skills, items, etc that you may have registered to those slots (they also your the d-pad, so in total you'll have 16 available slots, but you can also have more than one hotbar, so cycling through them gives even more options). Confusing? Undoubtedly, however the games tutorial runs you through the basics quite well.

As any Final Fantasy fan can hope to expect, the music is well performed, during standard battles, you may recognize the music (it's more reminiscent of the older games on the NES, SNES and such). When riding a Chocobo, as well as other mounts I would assume, you are treated the Chocobo music. Music in town and on the field are quite elegant and, to some degree, soothing and rhythmic.

Voice acting is scarce, the intro and small cutscenes are the only place they really occur at, but they are done well when they are done. The only other time you get to hear voices is from the various grunts that characters make, so don't expect much when it comes to voices.

---Other---

As I mentioned earlier, you are not restricted to one class and can switch once you've completed your current classes level 10 class quest (you usually get a quest at level 1, level 5, level 10 and so on). The classes you can choose from are many, from fighting classes (such as Gladiator, Pugilist, Arcanist and many more) to trades (such as Weaver, Alchemist, Blacksmith, etc). The latter are, as you may have guessed by the term 'trade' non-combat classes and are used to make armor, potions and other nick-naks that can be used by combat classes. When you start a new class, you revert to level 1 within your new class but retain the level in the previous class, so returning to your previous class will allow you to continue where you left off at.

The game has what are called 'Fates', if you've played Rift, they are like rifts, randomly generated missions where you and other players work to meet a goal, generally killing a certain number of enemies. The more you contribute, the larger your exp and Gil reward will be.

There are also unique chats called 'Linkshells', which can consist of up to 128 players that are not necessarily a guild or friends, but can use the chat feature to chat solely with each other and no one outside of the Shell can read your chat, it's basically a giant party chat.

Most of the negativity that has been generated was during the beta, people would complain that servers were constantly down or laggy, this has since been rectified and almost all of the game works as intended. If you see a review that says otherwise, look at the date, anything prior to Sept 13th is unreliable.

And yes, this is a subscription based game, but you get 30 days free.

---Overall---

This is a great MMORPG that has a lot to offer and much to do. With free expansions coming, this is a must have for fans of Final Fantasy or MMO's. I know I'll be cancelling my WoW sub so I can enjoy this great game.

First off, I've played MLB The Show since the beginning, and before that it was MLB 2K, World Series Baseball, VR Baseball, Batter Up, Bases loaded and yes even Major League Baseball featuring Ken Griffey Jr. Since I can remember sports video games have been just about the only games that have mattered and I grew up during the growth of the video game (29 now).

So to hear people bash MLB 2013 The Show for slight improvements, or similarities to last year's game is beyond me. When I sit back and look at the big picture of where sports games have been and what they are now, it's incredible. Even in the last five years it's a crazy positive difference.

Anyhow, this year's game is very similar to lasts, I haven't gone out and read any reviews so these are just my thoughts upon playing a few games today. I will update as I see fit as I play more. The changes are subtle, just like the game of baseball. The game though is still fantastic.

Also I typically play against the computer, on legend, in franchise mode. I want the most simulation type experience possible. So I turn off the strike zone and most feedback except for pitch speed. I also make everything as manual as possible.

The first thing I noticed with this year's game is the change from a circular batting curser to a more oval two hash marks type shape. Of course you can change this in the options but I think it is more correct to actual baseball. The bats sweet spot is longer than it is tall so it should be like this, not a circle. We still have the same power/regular/contact swing options too, which I like.

The biggest difference in hitting it seems is that the "window" for the batter to hit the ball is far different, and easier I might add. On legend mode there were numerous times against CC Sabathia that I thought I was late and struck out when my batter would either foul the ball off or put it in play. So batting is easier on all levels it seems because of this. Which is fine, as I would almost always lead the league in K's. This also has created some slightly weird placements of the ball off the bat though, as my hitter will pull the ball when sometimes I feel like I've obviously been fooled. Ball mechanics are still excellent though, and it's not like I'm hitting the ball out of the park like in an arcade game etc.

As far as pitcher batter battles these are all very similar to last year's game and excellent. Ichiro sucks to pitch to, gives long at bats, and Johnny Gomes is mr. all or nothing. I can't believe how realistic the pitch counts and batter pitcher match ups are to real life. The box scores at the end of the game look VERY accurate and I love that. Stats are a part of baseball and MLB gets it right most of the time.

Pitching is pretty much the same with the same options and controls. The difference though is that the ball paths seem to be a little smoothed out and more realistic. A sinker is a little less sharp at the end, the curve balls arch a little more and fast balls have a better simulation of "late life." It's great.

Fielding at first seems too similar to lasts years game as a lot of the motions of the fielders are identical. I wish they had updated player movements a little more. I'm fine with a lot of the gameplay stuff but the visuals and motion for the players is what really makes it feel like you are playing something "new." At first I thought it was identical to last years game but after more extensive gameplay there are many small changes that give the fielders a different feel. While it may have felt like more of a new game if they had altered and added more motions, they certainly did pay attention to this area. It can be noticed mostly when players dive or jump after a ball. In the past they used to "lunge" at alien like speed to catch a ball when now the motion is much more human and they really have to "make the play" or get to the ball. There are also other intricate things added to fielding, but don't expect an overhaul.

Batting stances and pitching wind-ups are as good as ever and each player's general motions fit each particular player fairly well. So when CC winds up and throws he feels and looks like the big old lug that he is.

As usual MLB has provided a fairly accurate game that feels like baseball, real sim ballgames. Which is what I want. This year's version may not blow you away with new features and visuals, but it was already a great game and it still is.

More updates to come later on.

---------------

After a couple more games it's even more evident how the subtleties of ball mechanics have improved in each aspect of the game. Players react differently to hard hit balls and soft hit balls. Batters can "carve" the ball better based on their swings, the arch of batted balls is more realistic than last years game and balls skid along the ground in a more fluid manner which is more realistic. It takes a while of play to really notice this but it's in how the ball will deflect off a fielder when short hopped or in how the ball caroms on a 55 foot curve-ball. They did some nice work here.

Other than that another nice option is more pitching and hitting views. I usually keep the default view for hitting, but I always pitch from behind the pitcher in some fashion usually with "outfield" view. It looks like baseball on TV and I think gives a better approximation of what it is like to pitch rather then being from the POV of the catcher.

---------------

Amazon user "A Phillips" wrote this in the comments section and I believe it's very important to understanding this years game and the improvements over previous versions, so I will quote him and add thoughts:

"...last night 3 things happened, that I can remember. One I hit a ball to the 2B and picked it up dropped it and picked it back up. Another ball I hit to Youklis was lined to 3B very hard defensive play,it bounced off his glove and I was safe at 1B. The day before, Rafael Furcal hit a HR , Morse tried to snag and rob it it hit of his glove and bounced into the Spring Training crowd. I have all of these on video by the way. I have a litany of video I could show you the addressd my correction of the smoothness of defensive gameplay.

By the same token, Morse made a breathtaking diving catch that was not at all video gameish, its what you'd expect to see in a Major League ball game. Addressing defensive gameplay and its smoothness and all around gameplay is something must be done to unlock the capabilities of this game..."

The point here being, that the more you play, the more subtle improvements you'll notice as to realistic events occurring as they would in an actual ballgame. Great baseball analyst Tim Kurkjian is somewhat famous for saying the the most fascinating thing about baseball is that on any given day at the park, you can see something that has never happened before, whether it be a minor statistical occurrence, or a major feat like a perfect game. You truly do get many of the "small" parts of baseball in MLB The Show and it can't be overlooked. I remember in past years being frustrated that fielders would never throw short hops to the first baseman. then they added in short hops but the way the first basemen handled them was unrealistic. Now as mentioned above, in this years game the reaction and plays the fielders make based on what the ball is doing is quite exceptional. And aside from the similar motions that the players do, the actual result and movement of them is definitely refined in this years game.

A Phillips also wrote:

"'out of the box' this game needs alot of adjustment, or a little if you know what youre doing, to unlock the full potential of this game. Maybe google this and it will help. Madman Sliders"

This is also an important note. This game NEEDS adjustment through the gameplay settings and sliders to play optimally and most importantly how YOU want it to play. It indeed as refined a game as actual Major League Baseball. A true simulation. So some research on sliders or experimenting on your own will be necessary with this game.

Thanks MR. Phillips for the great insight!

As a series MLB: The Show has been the most consistent of all the yearly sports representations this generation. Consumers have come to rely on exceptional baseball authenticity, realistic gameplay, fantastic graphics, and deep franchise and career modes to invest time with. What has been missing though is sense of accessibility and an acceptable online experience.

Those aspects however are no longer holding the franchise back. MLB 13: The Show is the iteration that pulled everything together to finally become a complete product and in doing so will absolutely deserve to be in contention for "Best of" awards late this year.

POSITIVES

*Gameplay and Authenticity

The unforgiving nature of The Show has finally eased off with the expansion of the hitting timing window. Far more rewarding and satisfying, hitting success has improved dramatically but not to any sort of unrealistic level. Averages were so consistently low in the past, with too many instances of timing and placement feeling "right" but still being punished, that now it just feels far more fair. Ultimately fan factor is being impacted here to a great extent.

All facets of MLB 13 show improvement over MLB 12. No longer unforgiving at the plate the overall balance and variety in games has increased. Scores are more realistic and producing runs through means other than home runs is a more viable strategy. Comebacks can be made and momentum and confidence are factors.

Changes to make "Guess Pitch" less of a crutch have proved worthwhile, and the new throwing meter provides more involvement and control over events in the field. Franchise mode benefits from new budgetary adjustments, scouting overhaul, and numbered player ratings. The Show is also well known for providing as many options as possible in regards to aspects such as controls, difficulty levels, and camera angles.

*Graphics

Outside of the crowd MLB 13 shines in the graphical department. The lighting, player faces, player models, parks, and animations are all top notch. Though the PS4 will be needed to take that next step there is no discounting that MLB 13 is arguably the best looking sports game out today. Understated changes from year-to-year have gotten it to this place and, even though not dramatically different than last year, it has earned such recognition.

*Road to the Show

Largely due to the increased timing window at the plate enjoyment in RTTS has expanded. The shift this year for pitchers is less evident but general gameplay balance regardless of position has been good making the experience challenging but far less frustrating. Changes to fielding cameras don't have much of an impact, and presentation wise the focus being from a player's perspective works in some ways and in others doesn't fully connect. It was fine to lose the commentary but having them jump in for a statement here and there unexpectedly seems odd. The camera cuts and on-screen displays after important events within the career are great touches. Not sure what the point is to the leaderboards but they are there now. The new sim screen which allows for seeing the events take place is a valuable addition. Loading times feel as though they have been reduced. What the mode desperately needs is a form of situational training rather than expecting people to learn things on the fly by trial and error.

*Online

Though not perfect online has taken huge strides this year. Connections are more consistent and performance smoother, the opened hitting window makes the games more entertaining to play, and several smart design decisions (pitcher fatigue, Guess Pitch, matchmaking) have made the entire experience one worth seeking out. The result is obvious as scoring and batting averages are up across the board and ERA and strikeout numbers are down.

*Postseason mode

Interest in the new Postseason mode was not particularly high heading into release but it exceeded expectations. This is a great way for those people who don't want to invest the time, or don't have it, within franchise but want to play games that feel as though they have meaning. There are plenty of options available in setting up the brackets and the special presentation and ratcheted up atmosphere makes the games stand out from all the others.

NEGATIVES

*Commentary

While the commentary is by no means poor, it has become tired, and is long overdue for an overhaul. That realization wasn't just made this year but has been discussed as an area that needed addressing since MLB 09. MLB 11 switched out Rex Huddler for Eric Karros replacing one poor contributor for another. MLB 13 brings in Steve Lyons with Dave Campbell departing. Lyons presence is not really felt all that much. The feel of the commentary, the pacing (including too much empty space) and manner in which it is threaded together, just hasn't advanced while competition within the genre has taken major steps forward technologically and featured complete booth changes. It is particularly disappointing within playoff games as the commentary just does not match the heightened atmosphere.

*Minor Issues and Omissions

Gameplay wise the frequency that the CPU throws strikes in power zones on the first pitch of each at bat, which has been well documented, is worrisome and affects strategy at the plate. There is also some sort of slowdown affecting players as they round third base. Those few issues and an occasional stutter on pitch releases will hopefully be patched. Elements of baseball like rainouts, doubleheaders, and retractable roofs that close still haven't been implemented.

There is a growing sense that The Show has stalled as far as the PS3 goes and really needs the capabilities of the PS4 to advance any further. That's not to say it is totally deficient in any single way, just that in playing it every year the series is showing reduced returns as far as leaps go. Areas discussed already such as commentary may fall into that category as SCEA isn't going to make big investments in the last year or two of the current generation when they'll be looking to totally differentiate one from the other and help to justify the PS4 next fall.

SUMMARY

This is the year that MLB: The Show finally pulled it all together to offer a complete product with exceptional value. Though it may have hit somewhat of a wall on the PS3, the PS4 providing an opportunity to break through in the weaker areas like collision detection and commentary, the changes that were made for MLB 13 still made a significant impact. The Show is a now must-have for any true baseball fan regardless of whether interest lies in Play Now, Postseason, Franchise, Road to the Show, or Online.

I simply don't agree with, or even understand for that matter, the negative comments on this game. The only thing I have to say is be aware of what you are purchasing. This game is designed to SIMULATE baseball. You can't just get up to bat and swing at every pitch and expect to be good at this game. Timing is key. Pitch selection is key. Pitch location is key. This is how baseball really is. This isn't a button smasher, you need to learn, practice to be good at it.

I can't comment on the negativity that this is just a roster update, because I didn't play 2011 or 2012. I own 2010 and in my opinion this game is head over heels better from 2010 to 2013. Graphics, game play, and overall presentation are much better than 2010.

I have spent some good hours playing this game and I have loved every second of it. If you want a true baseball simulation this is the game for you. If you are looking for an easy game where you hit a homerun every other at bat, hit .540 with 85HR....this probably isn't the game for you.

This is the best baseball game on the market. I usually play franchise mode however I noticed a few changes for the worse this year. one example is that once a player hits 35 36 they don't just decline they crash. you will go into the season with a great player ranked 90 and leave with a back up ranked 66.
