I am a little late to the "show" but I am sure glad I finally arrived here! I just picked up the PS3 system 2 weeks ago. I am from the school that felt MVP baseball 2005 was hands down the best baseball game ever made for console gaming. I read numerous reviews on this game at various sites and was really shocked at the clear line of love it or hate it type of write ups. A little background on my gaming expereince for you youngens out there. I have been playing video games since the Atari 2600 (I still have that thing in fine working condition in a box with over 100 carts). Back then Intellevision was the bomb for baseball.Nintendo had Baseball Stars, and Bases Loaded the Second Season (both classics). On Sega Genesis we had RBI Baseball, and the sweet World Series Baseball. Then the Playstation had EA's Triple Play baseball,All Star Baseball and of course the legendary MVP 2005 for PS2. For this review I can tell you this game is being played on a 32' Sony XBR Bravia 1080P LCD with Digital Surround and HDMI video.

I will list my custom settings which I have found to be very challenging and at the same time very rewarding. These settings thus far have made for a very realistic gaming experience without the extreme amount of frustration that some have shared. Over time I am sure I will turn down and turn up these various settings as my skill in the game gets better with repeated play. I recommend these particular settings if you have had a good amount of baseball video gaming experience with either The Show or the MVP series, have a good working knowledge of the game and also if you are/were a ball player.

All Star difficulty

No hot/cold zones

No Strike Zone marker

No hitter zone marker

Yes to ball marker to line up the pitches even though the controller shakes if your out of the strike zone it does make things a tad easier and more enjoyable.

Yes to 1/6 guess pitch and location I believe part of baseball is to anticipate certain pitches and location at crucial times and to be rewarded like you would in real life with a solid hit or a majestic blast out of the park! This allows you to sit on a pitch that you guessed right. Or if you don't want to guess the pitch but know he will pitch you down and away that helps and you should be rewarded. Knowing location has it's rewards too! I played a game last night and just knew this pitcher was going to come at me inside....I promptly crushed one over the right field wall BOOYA!!!!!!

New Running control set up very easy to use as I will explain below.

Yes to API (Adaptive pitching intelligence) where the cather calls the game for you and you can either shake him off or follow his lead. I like this a lot! And don't be afraid to shake off your catcher. They do call for more fastballs then they should....shake him off and throw that change up or breaking ball!

All throwing, fielding, running, and sliding set to manuel

Yes to the Fielding ball marker and steal the HR marker.

Yes to umpire strike zone variabilty

No CPU comebacks.

As far as my sliders go without being long winded the only adjustments I made were:

Turning up 2 clicks each:

Hitting Power

Solid Contact

Starting Pitcher Stamina

Relief Pitcher Stamina

Foul balls

Turning down 3 clicks:

Throwing errors.

Turned down 1 click

AI Pitch speed if your a novice turn it dowm some more to get a feel for what different pitches do. Once you get the hang of it...turn it up!

On to the game.

Presentation Never have I been so blown away by a sports games presentation than MLB 2009 The Show. From the moment you load in the game and hearing all the great radio calls to the opening lineup introductions, the umpire crew calling the game, the panning in the stadiums, the lighting and shading....I mean this is top notch stuff. The play by play is great. Without question you feel like your watching a baseball game. The menus are very in depth and easy to navigate. I love seeing in spring training games the beach balls being hit around. The crowd is very active and looks so real! The player models are nothing short of beautiful. The fielding animations are so life like...back hand stabs, flips to turn 2, scoops, fist pumping after a great play, dives and slides....all the most realisitc I have ever seen. Guys getting thrown out of arguing calls, Replays are awesome!!!! Custom walk up music, and recording your own cheers and jeers.....friggin sweet!

Gameplay this is where the biggest debate has been on the reviews. I will say this. MLB 2009 is not for pick up and play gamers, gamers who do not have much baseball knowledge, and gamers who do not have patience. This is a game that was designed for true baseball fans, players, and sports gamers who want the ultimate in true realisim. If you don't fit into that description....buy MLB The Bigs.

The degree of difficulty in hitting is just that. It is not easy. This is not dependent on button mashing and pure timing. You must understand the sweet science of hitting, taking pitches, going with the pitch, fighting off pitches, having some sense of what pitch is coming depending on the count, the baserunners etc. The hitting aspect of this game is just flat out amazing. If you are patient and willing to practice you will be able to be successful. One of the biggest keys to hitting on this game is the left stick. You need to understand that if a pitcher is throwing it down and away and you swing at it....you better have the left stick pressed down and away as you time your button push and then maybe you either fight off the pitch, get a dribbler down the line you can leg out, hit an opposite field single...pop up, line out, my point is there is no guarantee you will get on base...but if you don't press that left stick down and away chances are you will whiff. If you have a man on third....tap the right stick up to induce a fly ball to tag up that runner!! Drag bunts are awesome on this game and they work well (tap your right stick either left or right before the pitch). I wish you could move the hitter around the box though...amazing a game with this much detail left that out. The hitters eye is a nice touch to see how the defense is playing you. Back to the hitting aspect. What I love is that even if you get the timing right sometimes your going to hit it hard....but it is going to find a glove. That is baseball. No one hits .375 year round....most hitters hit .275 to .280. Sometimes you time it right but you don't swing your bat high enough or low enough with the left stick. Again...ultimate realism. I still have not hit a HR using the power swing. I have hit a dozen (in 14 spring games) though using the normal swing button, with perfect timing and placing the sweet spot of the bat in the right area. I also do not like to use the power swing button because you can't check your swing at all. Check swinging is a major aspect of this game. The batter/pitcher duals are flat out sick!

Pitching Wow...I love this. Even when you line up the ball right....sometimes your pitcher just does not have his best stuff. Know this and start thinking about getting your long reliever up earlier than you would like! I love the fact that you must work the zone....throw pitches high and away, low and outside, or give them a sweet splitter down the middle...whoops and then it drops like a rock! Also....make sure you get ahead in the count...because the great hitters will make you pay for mistakes all the time. Study your hitters with the pitcher/batter menu....amazing the amount of info you can gather from those screens. Also check the streak arrow direction next to their name and stats as they approach the batters box....is A-Rod on a cold steak? Then challenge him!! If he's hot and first base is open....pitch him carefully. Watch your pitchers confidence closley. If he is getting into trouble...get out there and talk to him. If he can't seem to get out trouble....send him to an early shower!

The plethora of pitches in the game is sweet. Screwballs, slurves, 2 seamers, 4 seamers, 12-6 curves, spliters, sliders, sinkers, knuckleballs, knuckle curves, changeups....awesome. The variability on the umpires is also a very nice touch. Sometimes you get calls...sometimes you don't. Adjust and adapt just like in real life!!!!

Fielding Ok here is where there are a couple of quirks. Sometimes the AI chooses the wrong fielder for you intially and you need to hit that L2 quick...also sometimes you hit dive and meant it let's say for your 3rd baseman but the AI chose your LF instead and he is flat on his face and it turns into a double. It does not happen that often. In fact it is becoming less of an occurence as you get used to the speed of the game. The fielding though for the most part is very solid. I love the smoothness of the animations and man it feels so real. Throwing is a breeze as is diving and jumping. Throwing errors were happening too often on the "out of the box settings" so take my advice on the slider adjustments mentioned above. The fielding guide marker is very helpful and a must for novices and even vet's like me...it makes for a more enjoyable experience. Last night I perefectly timed a R2 dive for Hanley Ramirez to lay out up the middle on a grounder... he then flipped the ball up from his stomach to Uggla who was getting taken out on the throw to turn the 6-4-3 DP. AMAZING FIELDING ANIMATIONS!!!!!

Baserunning Ok MVP 2005 has the best baserunning controls hands down with the use of the game pad....why MLB 2009 does not use that same scheme is anyone's guess....but the new running control scheme that uses the left stick is a breeze.I have never played any previous version of MLB The Show and read the classic controls and was getting dizzy. Just point to the base runner you want with your left stick and hit the button of the base you want him to go to. L1 for all advance...R1 for all retreat. After a dozen spring games for practice I have had no issues with base running. Stealing is also very easy. Point the stick to the runner you want and touch the button of the base you want him to steal. I have not tried a double steal as of yet....so no comment on that as of now.

Franshise mode I am dizzy at the amount of options you have here. I actually let the CPU handle the training options, budget and stadium stuff....I am too busy with rosters, signing players, drafts, and scouting!!! In other words I like being the GM and Manager and I let the CPU handle other stuff.....for now (:

The 40 man rosters are great. I will miss the MVP minor league systems though. I look forward to my first draft as well as free agent signing peroid. I play the Marlins BTW.

RTTS I have not yet ventured into this mode as of the writing of this review. I first want to complete a couple of seasons (which will take me probably a few years since I only can play maybe 8 hours a week) with my Marlins and then I will delve into that whole other world this game has.

Overall the game is a 10 out of 10 for me. I don't think I have ever been this excited about a sports game since Madden and MVP 2005 for the PS2. This is a true innovative gaming experience. I played ball through college and still play softball on Sundays, It also helps I am a huge basbeball fan. This game is for baseball lovers...I do not reccommend this game for any casual gamers, casual baseball fans or a gamer who has little to no patience. However if you want a true baseball simulation that has more features than you know what to do with, and that also has replayability for the next 10 years look no further than MLB 2009 The Show. A game that truly rewards you with every game you play. The more you play the better you will get and the more fun you will ultimatly have! Quite possibly the best sports video game ever made. Now pass me some mustard for my red hots!

Have fun at the ball park everyone!

Here we are, another long winter over and another amazing spring to begin, and what better way to ring in the best time of year than with MLB 09 The Show.

Sony has done it, they have taken an amazing franchise and made it perfect. I could tell you about the perfect graphics and amazing sounds, but this game has literally everything. They have batters that react like their real-life counterparts and pitchers that are accurate down to the grip of the ball. Each player is rendered with extreme precision, and with the ability to manually add their actual walk up music and HR celebration music, nothing is more life-like.

They team at Sony has added well over 400 animations to an already extraordinary library of ones that existed previously. I could probably play 100 games and still see something new. From speaking to one of the developers, there are now over 100 animation simply for the first baseman catching a throw to first. That's just unreal. Also, as you play the game the infield wears down, if you dive for a ball on the back of the infield in the third inning, that large swipe of dirt will still be there the rest of the game, this is amazing. Score a runner from second base, and you'll see the footprints in the dirt until they get covered by even more footprints.

The crowd is intenase this year, it's dynamic. If there's a blow out, they might leave early. Also, you'll see Yankee fans in Fenway and vice-versa, as that's how it really is. Sony has made this as close to reality as possible. Also, the fans dress for the weather. I was playing an early April game in Chicago, and the announcers stated it was 43 degrees. Everyone in the crowd had hats, sweaters and jackets on. For a game in late May, it was t-shirts and shorts.

The lighting is another VAST improvement this season. The game actually has lighting that transitions throughout the game. It doesn't just go from light to dark, it follows a real nights subtle changes. Also, the lighting will hit players at certain angles that mimic a real sun, so the shadows will make a difference this year.

Add to all this, online leagues and Road to the Show 3.0, and yes you have a perfect baseball game.

Thank you Sony.

First of all, my review is not gonna tell you why this game is perfect because of how great the stadiums look, or how lifelike Manny Ramirez's dreads look. I love graphics as much as the next guy, but that is not what I am looking for in a baseball game. I am an obsessive Baseball fan and the only thing I am looking for is realism...and this game has done baseball perfectly.

You hear that a lot in reviews of this game don't you? Perfect. How many times have most of the reviewers of anything said something like that?

The only baseball game I have continued to play since like 1999 has been High Heat Baseball for PC. I have seriously continued to update the rosters year after year for the 2003 edition, keeping it current. Well, this game not only made me finally put that game away, but single-handedly made me buy a PS3.

That is saying a lot! Console Baseball games have continued to get it wrong, time after time, after sad disc throwing time for me. I can not say enough for how amazing this game is. The batter/pitcher battle, the most important part of baseball, is excellent. High pitch counts, countless foul balls, CPU actually throwing balls, strike outs looking, amazing.

The trajectory of batted balls is great too, lots of balls up the middle, and looping fly balls, like real baseball. Lots of little things too with feeling, balls are bobbled but plays are still made... adding more of a human feeling to the game. One of the other cool features on the game, is that on the higher up difficulty modes.. you are to use actual catcher signs to call pitches, 1 for fastball, 2 usually for curve etc.. and your catcher even calls what side of the plate its going too.

This game is perfect, 10 out of 10, 5 out of 5, whatever the ratings are. This game looks equally good when compared to how atrocious that Major league Baseball game is. Go BUY NOW.

I think many of the people who wrote previous reviews have given this game a fair assessment. I got back into playing console games recently and picked this game up b/c it was last years game and I didn't want to break the bank on video games. As a baseball fanatic, I really enjoyed this game. I really think they hit the mark on a great baseball game more than others that I have played. Granted there are concerns that other reviews have already written, but I just want to add that two things I hate about this game is 1. online play has been canceled. I can't play against other MLB 09 players since MLB 10 is out. 2. I also can't update my rosters. I guess that's their nice hint to go buy MLB 10 which I won't. I am not going to pay $50+ each year for updated rosters and maybe better gameplay. Here's a suggestion, perhaps charge a small fee for roster updates since I know the reason you canceled online play is about making money. And why cancel online play against other players after one year? I can understand maybe after a few years, but after one year? If this is the trend, I won't be buying future MLB games unless I buy it used for dirt cheap or get it for free.

Last year, MLB 08 was the best baseball game I ever played. It was so good, I had reservations spending another $60 for the new version. Honestly, I'm not sure it was really worth the money, but MLB 09 is another incredible baseball game that makes minor improvements to last year's, and adds a few new features. You can record your own chants and music for individual players. The graphics and animations have been tweaked. The gameplay has been slightly enhanced. Pitching seems the most improved. The Franchise Mode has been enhanced with transactions such as salary arbitration, waiver transactions, and September call-ups. I feel the game will have a lot of replay value. The game is well worth the price if you don't own last years. $60 might be a lot for those upgrading though.

Bought this game for our 7 year old grandson to play when he comes to visit. He loves it and he could play it for hours if we let him. And, if there are adults in the house while he is playing everyone wants to play the game. My sister who is not one to play games had fun playing this one. The game said we would need the camera eye and hand held motion controller to play it but it works just fine without these. The regular controller that come with the PS3 are all you need. No need for the extra expense.

As a longtime fan of the game on multiple platforms, I'm happy to say that this is a really great port of the game. Once you get over the initial oddity in controls you'll be right back to where you were when playing it on PC, Android, or iOS. There are however some things that bother me about the game. First of all the volume.. it's loud VERY loud. Even if you adjust it via the settings the music and effects are still almost unbearably loud with my tv at normal volume (11 or 12). If I turn down everything to the first or 2nd notch under settings it's ok but still a bit on the loud side. Any other game on PS3 sounds fine at this volume as does other media such as music or movies. That aside even after you have set your volume preferences they're pointless on startup. The game starts at full volume until you press the start button to get past the main menu then it throttles down. I usually just have to mute my tv when I start the game otherwise it'll startle me from the other room when I run to get a snack after inserting the disc. Aside from the volume the credits are crazy long, this isn't super important but anyone who's played the original will understand why I mention it. I was scrolling for a good 3 minutes. Anyway back to the game itself. All the promised levels are here and more. The gameplay is a tad different but still fun and the layout of everything as decent enough. I don't like that I can't scroll backwards through the chapter select screen but it has always been like that so not really an issue. As others have mentioned price is a factor here.. I purchased the game for 19.99$ around the time of amazon's black friday sale. 20 bucks for 3 angry birds games is perfect imho. Now that the price has gone back up you may want to wait for a sale or buy it used. There is no DLC code included nor is there any available at this time so buying it used/like new won't hurt ya. I very much look forward to DLC possibly being added in the future so that I can play Space and possibly Star Wars, but I'm not going to hold my breath in the meantime incase it never happens. Anyway I need to go play now before my lunch is over. :p

My wife and I played the down loadable PS3 game (we are in our 40's). She loved it.

I got the Trilogy because it's the only game she likes and it gives us more time together. We get to poke fun at each other for bad shots, it's good honest fun.

It was very expensive as far as I'm concerned, but well worth it.

The game it's self is great. Lots of (new to us) levels. Hours and hours of play time.

This game works much better than the $3 PS3 downloaded game.

Great scenery, better control and new (to us) features.

My kids are huge fans of the LEGO Video game series we already own 5 of them (Star Wars, Harry Potter 1-4 , Pirates of the Carribbean). So far, we're about 20% of the way into this game, and my kids think this is the best one. The graphics, animation, and details keep improving with each new Lego title.

What I like most about the Lego games is the number of hidden secrets which encourage the kids to explore every single item on the screen. It's a must-buy for any Harry Potter or Lego fan.

I am not really a video game person, but I decided to give this one a go since I am a huge Harry Potter fan. My husband recommended this game to me as something that I might like playing and how right he was!

I give his game a 10/10. There really is no way around it. The graphics are funny and the extra hidden abilities throughout the levels are what really make this game so great. As you unlock more and more items you can go back into free play and get what you couldn't before. I admit it is a bit addicting! :) I'm about half way through the game currently and there is still plenty of more game time.

I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a game to play that is challenging, but also fun. There are just so many things to do. I like the variety of spells that you can unlock and purchase. Plus there are so many characters to choose from when going into free play. You can even customize your own characters by purchasing them. A lot of characters have their own unique sets of skills as well that I personally really like. Not everyone is the same.

What really makes this game as well is playing with 2 players. Single player is fun on its own, but there is definitely some bonding there when you're yelling at one another to not let the "mushroom man" kill you.

Definitely get this. It's so worth it.

Sidenote: this is a following of the movies, and not necessarily of the books. That is something I noticed. Nonetheless, it's still amazing.

I am not a big fan of the Lego games, EXCEPT for Lego Harry Potter. This new title has the same replay value as the first installment. The amazing graphics along with the music from the movies, plus the fun of the game itself, will keep you playing for more. There are all sorts of extra stuff for players to explore as well. What I really love about the game is that there are plenty of challenges without the game being nearly impossible. I give this game a 10/10!!!!!

If you're like me you're already a fan of the lego game series. I picked up Lego Harry Potter years 5-7 and it was better than the first. If your looking for a family game or just something fun and silly to unwind I definitely recommend this one. If you played the Harry Potter years 1-4 you know the game was plagued with bugs that were thankfully not present in this newest one. It also introduced some of my favorite characters from the series, such as Luna and Xenophilus Lovegood.

This game has been loads of fun to play with the family. The level creativity in this one is better than the last and there are plenty of places to explore. Highly recommended game for low key gamers who like the puzzle/adventure type. Only reason I took a star off is because it's the same ol Lego game you've come to love just in a new shell with a few added features. Some good additions but overall I can only play for about an hour at a time as it can get old if you have played lots of Lego games already.

There aren't a lot of books depicting Vader in his put down the rebellion stage as the dark lord being first on the field to lead the storm troopers into battle. The ominous figure is cast as either a liberator or destroyer, dependent on how you view the political regime of the empire. This decal can be placed on very easily, what I did differently than how the instructions described was a sponge with soap water squezzed almost dry and lightly slid across the sticky side of the decal to make it less sticky before applying to my PS3. Very easy and it looked great. Highly recommend to purchase, if you like cool Star Wars drawings or just like an epic battle scene which can let your imagination run wild. Like buying a mega lottery ticket, only it serves a practical purpose of protecting your expensive PS3 that kids touch when they come by.

The Nyko Charge Base 3 competes with the official Sony dock with extra flair and a $5 price difference. It certainly looks a whole lot slicker, but all the things it aims to do fall terribly short of customer expectations...

1. Magnetic Docking

The main feature of this product is that it uses magnets to 'dock' your controller. What they don't show you (even on the box of the product itself) is that it requires a huge and ugly clip to be connected to your PS3 controller. Make no mistake, this is not just a little bumper that you plug into the usb port of the controller, this is a plastic clip that covers the entire top, most of the rear, and front sony logo with Black and Clear plastic. The pictures don't show this plastic adapter at all, because if they did, the angle of those controllers would show you just how bulky and ugly they are. They cover the lights on the controller as well, but that's an aesthetic issue and doesn't really hurt functionality. It would probably be ok if the magnetic docking feature worked as well as advertised, but just looking at my score you can probably tell it doesn't.

Don't shake whatever the dock is sitting on -don't slightly nudge a controller in the dock -and don't you dare think of looking at this thing funny either; the controllers will fall off like a ton of bricks. The controllers are bottom heavy, because of the rumble feature. The fact that they are docked horizontally with weak magnets is asking for disaster. The PS3 sending vibrations through my desk has been enough to shake a controller loose and have it come crashing down. If you are trying to dock multiple controllers, just brushing up slightly against the dock or pushing it may detach the other. The point of the magnet dock was simply to wave your controller over it, and have it seat itself. What it ends up being is something you have to take extra care to maintain and place.

If you want true "drop and charge" functionality, the official Sony dock is the way to go.

2. Build Quality

The main unit itself feels very sturdy, but the stand and clips are made of cheap plastic. They flex with slight pressure. Also, the kick stand of the Nyko dock basically extends as far as the Sony dock, meaning it doesn't save any space having controllers stacked up.

3. LEDs

An important feature is the LED lighting; rather the ability to turn OFF the LED lighting. Many of us use these docks in our bedrooms, and LEDs have become quite obnoxious. The wonderful thing about this dock is that there is a power button sitting at the top. This is a great feature, even though it may be annoying to shut the dock off every once in awhile. I was afraid I would have to unplug it every once in awhile (I was willing to do so), but the addition of an easy to hit power button exceeded my expectations. Automatic shut off would be better, but I wasn't expecting it.

4. AC Adapter

It comes with an AC Adapter as opposed to USB power. This is good or bad depending on what your availability is. The only issue is the fact that this is AC only, rather than a choice, but I don't believe any other product offers anything better. As a result, this didn't really affect my review.

Conclusion

It charges, and it looks cool. It's also a hassle, prone to damaging your controllers by dropping them, and comes with deceptive marketing to hide two large ugly controller adapters (never shown in product packaging or website). It works as a conversational piece, a USB slot preserver, and a method to reduce the amount of cords running around, but it fails as a quick and easy solution for actually charging your controllers. Go figure...

Click Here to Read More Reviews >>

I really liked the charger. I didn't have any problems with the controllers falling off and I'm not bothered by the aesthetics of the magnetic clips. I thought they were a convenient way of connecting to the charging system until my dog ate one. Now I can't seem to find a replacement, so I can only charge one controller at a time. Idiot dog. He's fine by the way, but the clips don't seem as convenient now that I view them as bite sized.

PRO

1) Price.

2) Looks snazzy.

3) Room room to modify a silicon skin to fit (just trim around the clip). Looks nice when coupled with a black silicone skin.

CON

1) Weak Magnets. They can fall off even by just placing the unit on the table. However, so far my massive Klipsch 12" sub hasn't rattled one off.

2) Bulky clip. While it is ugly, I could survive that if my finger tips didn't rest on the corners of the rear portion of the plastic clip. However, placing a silicone skin on the controller has helped to create a more flush surface and I hardly notice anymore.

Read Best Reviews of Nyko Charge Base 3 for PS3 Here

I think this is a really good charging stand. Yes, there is a big clip that needs to be attached to the controller but once it is attached you don't have to think about it. It is really easy to attach the controller to the stand to start charging. The build quality is very good and the plastics feel high quality (although I must say the stand has nicer plastics than the clips that go on the controller). The clip does get in the way of the controller indicator lights except for indicator 4 but the plastic is transparent over this area so it's not really an issue. And if you have the controller in your hand playing a game and still don't know what player you are then you probably shouldn't be playing :).

The lights are intuitive. When charging, the appropriate light(s) for the controller(s) will change to orange. Also to note that the lights are frosted plastic so they aren't as bright and annoying as normal LED lighting. Furthermore, if you're still concerned about lighting, the controllers are actually angled such that when faced head on they cover up the status lights and only if you're close to the stand (i.e. moving to pick up a controller from the stand) you'll see the lights on. The base only lights up when no controllers are connected, and the entire unit can be turned off by pressing a switch at the top of the stand.

The only issue I have with this stand is that it needs a more substantial weight to the base. It comes with a sticky pad to keep it stuck to surfaces but I prefer not to use it.

Want Nyko Charge Base 3 for PS3 Discount?

This is the best charger that i have had in a while. If i were to change anything it would be to make it mountable to a wall or something similar. Def buying one for my xBox controllers.

In 2012 CAPCOM released three Resident Evil titles. There was the much panned Operation Raccoon City, then there was the mixed reaction to Resident Evil 6. Who'd have thought that the best of the Resident Evil titles released in 2012 was the 3DS game: Resident Evil Revelations? The experience was so good, evoking so much of what made Resident Evil so good in the first place that at the time I felt it was a shame that so few fans were going to be able to experience it. At the time of the original release, the 3DS didn't have a huge install base. Now that it has gotten a release on consoles, fans can finally experience one of the best Resident Evil games around. Resident Evil Revelations is a fantastic experience.

Set before the events of Resident Evil 5, Revelations focuses on the BSAA. A counter Bio-Terrorism group started by Chris and Jill. Our game begins when Jill and her partner Parker, sail out to the Mediterranean. They've lost contact with Chris and his partner Jessica and their last known coordinates were there. When they arrive they find a cruise ship, the Queen Zenobia, strangely abandoned. And soon it becomes apparent why. There are Bio Organic Weapons (B.O.W.s) running around all over the ship. One of the things that made some of the earliest Resident Evil games amusing was that there was a mystery at play. A sort of, "What's going on?" feeling to the game. Resident Evil Revelations has this in strides as the plot is actually extremely engrossing. There's a lot of mystery and suspense. And the stories are intertwined as we're introduced to new characters and situations that can, at times, take surprising turns. The story is just all around amazing. At first it feels a little jumpy by introducing so many different plot points, but it actually all weaves together fairly well and makes for a good story.

As you go exploring the various environments you find yourself in, you'll come face to face with several enemies that are usually dispensed with your trusty weapon. Aiming and shooting is similar to Resident Evil 4. You can take aim at various parts of the body, and when your enemies stagger you can go in for a quick melee attack. If you've kept up with the series since the fourth installment then this will be familiar to you. You can also strife while aiming, but chances are you'll find it much better to pop an enemy a couple of times, retreat and then pop them again. There are, however a few things added to the game itself that keep it interesting. You'll do a lot of running and gunning, but one of the most unique items your given is an item only known as Genesis, which you can use to scan several areas for hidden items or data on your enemies. It's hard not to go into a room and use it. The rewards are usually finding more ammo or precious herbs to heal your wounds. On the 3DS the controls were pretty precise and tight, but the use of a second analog stick makes the controls a lot better in the console version. You can play in the "classic" sense, which maps out the controls to be fairly similar to Resident Evil 4. I don't particularly recommend this. The "classic" controls feel more restrictive. You can't rotate the camera and in some moments in Revelations you're definitely going to want to.

There aren't many puzzles in Resident Evil Revelations at all. There are moments where you'll have to move a few circuits around, but they're hardly mind-bending moments. It's much more about the gunplay here and there's an emphasis put on that. You'll not only find weapons but also custom parts for those weapons that will make them more powerful, or fire faster or perhaps might help them do a better job of stunning your enemies. You can mix and match all you like and apply them to any type of weapon you want.

After running through so many Resident Evil games, it's a wonder if Resident Evil can actually be scary anymore. Well, not really. But Revelations has various ways of trying to be scary. The first and most obvious is the atmosphere. Especially on the Queen Zenobia. Hallways are suspiciously empty, music hits some really eerie notes, and sometimes you'll find dead bodies or see some enemies pop out as you run by. Resident Evil has been doing these things since the very first installment and it's hard to be creeped out by the billionth enemy popping out at you when you've been exposed to that for seventeen years now. In spite of the atmosphere and the mystery given by various documents you'll find through the game, Resident Evil Revelations isn't going to scare anyone. You have to give credit to the game for trying at least. It does this in other ways as well. You'll find various keys to unlock locked doors, find yourself backtracking through previous rooms only to find them repopulated with new horror, and sometimes you'll find yourself wondering if you'll survive. All this is compounded by some very well done set pieces. Early on, for instance, you'll find yourself unable to stand as a pack of mutated dogs set their sights on you. It's a very tense moment where you, the player, may actually begin to feel just a little frightened you won't survive. Moments like this make you feel as though Resident Evil is returning to its roots. So at the very least Revelations tries to be scary and give you a sense of fear. It basically tries to take the best of the two styles of Resident Evil and mesh them together. The atmosphere and mystery is inspired by the early installments while the gunplay is drawn from the latter ones. It's a well put together hybrid. Just don't expect it to scare the pants off you.

No matter who the game has you play as, you'll always have a partner, and this is perhaps the most glaring shortcoming that Revelations has. The rest of the game is great and it's other flaws forgivable, but when it comes to your partner, CAPCOM still hasn't made a competent one. They won't spend time wasting your resources like Sheva in Resident Evil 5, but a lot of the time they just stand there doing nothing. They rarely even shoot at your enemies, and most times they just follow you around like a confused puppy. If they did a little more such as point out objectives or even tried to battle a little more it wouldn't be so bad. The only use your AI partner really has is soaking up damage on your behalf. The good news is that they can't die. They can take as much damage as they need to. They may be useless, but you are not in a position where you must babysit them.

There are a few things about the 3DS version that I do miss to some degree. While it's always easy to switch between your weapons and subweapons using the D-Pad, I do miss that all my inventory management is no longer on a bottom screen. It doesn't clutter the heads up display, but on the 3DS it was easy to be immersed because the top screen where all the action took place was completely clean. It made for a more immersive experience.

There are other differences between the consoles and 3DS versions of the game aside from the hardware. For one, load times are more noticeable. While even the 3DS version had to load new areas causing severe dips in framerate (which isn't a big deal, you're in no real danger during these times) it's kind of strange that powerful consoles have to take a moment to load up some of the pre-rendered cutscenes where as the 3DS has little problem transitioning into them almost seamlessly. Likewise, while the console version has a lovely HD remaster you can definitely tell that it was made for the smaller screen. When blown up quite a bit of the game looks really good and detailed, but you can definitely see some blemishes that were not really noticeable on the 3DS version of the game. The game looks good, but sometimes it looks better on the 3DS (where those blemishes don't stand out as much) and runs better on the 3DS (where you aren't interrupted nearly as much by "Now Loading" screens).

The most noticeable difference between the versions, however, is that the console versions offer a new difficulty setting: Infernal Mode. This is a lot more than just increasing how powerful enemies are. This puts entirely new sets of enemies in some parts of the game. You'll encounter the strongest of enemies a lot sooner. For those really wanting to test their skills, this new difficulty setting is certainly worth a try.

The original 3DS version had another mode called Raid Mode. This mode returns. It's a co-op mode that sends you through about twenty different missions killing your way through enemies, trying to earn the highest score and upgrading your equipment along the way. Raid Mode is highly addictive if you're one who really loves the gunplay. You may even find yourself spending more time here than you do in the main campaign. Mostly because it also has difficulty settings and it changes up the enemies and how many you'll find on each difficulty setting. It's almost like getting an entirely separate game along with the main campaign. It's very fun and being able to really customize your weapons and level up makes Raid Mode worth playing. You can play solo or you can go online with a friend (or stranger). The only downside to Raid Mode, really, is that the co-op can only be done online. It's a shame that there is no split screen multiplayer. There isn't a lot added to Raid Mode, however. There are a couple more costumes and a new character to play as, but not a lot of additions. Don't think you can just jump in, however. In order to access everything Raid Mode has to offer you'll have to complete the main campaign.

With the console version of Raid Mode, it's important to note that the experience is completely different from the 3DS counterpart in several ways. The first is that there are far more upgrades that you can find and use throughout the Raid Mode experience. New custom parts means that there are very different ways to play. Yes the maps are the same, but all the new editions in this regard will make the experience wholly different for any player who experienced Raid Mode on the 3DS. Likewise, there are now weapons that come with inherint custom parts. You might find a weapon in a level that has a "Light Weight" characteristic. This means your character will run faster, reload faster... but the gun might have a reduced firing power in light of having greater speed overall. This makes Raid Mode a much different experience. The same can also be said for enemy layouts. If you had this game on the 3DS and you were a pro at Raid Mode the console version is going to be a different experience overall. Especially as you go into higher difficulty settings. Enemy layouts are also different in many levels. The addition to being able to use a microphone is also a welcome. But perhaps the biggest difference to the co-op play on multiplayer is that characters can now go into a "dying" state where you have a chance to revive them before an enemy does them in for good. This doesn't mean you won't die at all on Raid Mode, but it does mean that playing on co-op has more benefits than it did in the 3DS version. Lastly, there are no recommended levels to tackle a level on. And playing through a mission at these levels (or lower) rewards better experience. The experience of Raid Mode is going to feel fresh and new even to those who mastered the 3DS variation of it and that alone might make it worthwhile to pick up for those who already played through the game.

All this makes Resident Evil Revelations a near perfect package of content. The campaign is a good length and Raid Mode has such an enormous fun factor that you'll find yourself playing through the missions several times on end. As with every reissue of a game, however, the big question is whether or not you should buy it if you already have the original game. If you already have it on the 3DS the idea of a whole new difficulty setting and a couple of extra costumes in Raid Mode might not be enough to justify a fifty dollar price tag to those who already have the 3DS version. On the other hand, if you've never played it before (or lack a 3DS) then it's not such a bad idea to grab it. There is one reason to pick up the console version if you already have the 3DS version, however, and that's Raid Mode. As I said, the experience is actually quite different here. And if you found yourself addicted to Raid Mode on the 3DS then you should try the console version of Raid Mode because it's a completely different (sometimes better) experience.

If you've never taken the time to play Resident Evil: Revelations then now is probably a good time to do so. It's a good game that provides some of the aspects about Resident Evil we used to love so much, while keeping some of the new gameplay enhancements there to keep it from being dated. Resident Evil: Revelations is a good game that no Resident Evil fan should miss. If you've already got the 3DS version, however, there isn't much reason to rush out and buy it.

I was right to hold out for the PS3 version when the original version came out last year. I have to say, it's a lot better than RE5 for sure and RE6, which I just couldn't grip onto. As a female gamer, I look for uniqueness in a game. This one surely has it. I'll list it in the pros and cons.

Pros

-->Story. The story is worth paying attention to. It's not boring at all.

-->Passable cut scenes on second second play through on New Game+. Cut scenes can be skipped on first playthrough as well.

-->Characters are a little more interactive. Meaning, they ask questions about each other and know of past events.

-->Enemies for sure. The enemies in this game are very unique and are a great alternative to zombies and plaga-infested people.

-->Scenery. Scenery is great. Sometimes in the grand hall, I just stand around to look at the detail, but wonder why the enemies aren't there.

-->Music. The music helped get me into this game. It's beautiful and haunting.

-->References to Dante's Inferno was good.

-->Creep factor is higher, but not by much. You get a few little flinches here and there.

-->Characters are a little more thought out. However, I don't know what's going on with Raymond's hair!

-->Jill is inoculated against something else now too.

-->AI partner isn't completely useless, which is a huge step from RE5 and a little of RE6.

-->The true villain wasn't presented at the first moment for once. We knew who was the villain in RE5 and RE6 immediately.

-->Raid Mode was awesome. You get points to spend from the main game transferred to Raid Mode to buy special equipment.

-->Rachael is playable in Raid Mode(I didn't care for her. Just adding this for others)

-->The rest of the characters are playable in Raid Mode also with HUNK.

-->Character power in Raid Mode is scaled by the costume you wear.

-->Equipment gets carried over with you on New Game+

-->Wesker isn't in this game for once.

Cons

-->Chris is utterly useless on the last boss fight, but I think it might be due to your weapon choice throughout his playthrough.

-->Enemies don't seem to want to go through doors when you're running away. Instead, they stay in the room you leave them in.

-->The bilge puzzle was irritating the first time. It wasn't after till you read the note you figure it out. Slight misstep by me.

-->Can't replay previous chapters unless in Raid Mode or New Game+

-->Jessica was annoying on her questions about Jill.

-->Can't find any survivors and save them. What should I expect from Resident Evil?

-->The bug at the ending of the Malacoda fight leaves you in dying mode and you have to start all over. This happened to me once.

-->Lady Hunk. Don't care for her honestly.

-->Surprised that Jessica survived with Chris noting his reputation with teams and such.

-->The loading time between grand hall doors. I know it's loading the map and area, but it could be a little faster.

-->Replay gets kind of boring after awhile.

Overall, I really enjoyed this game. I hope they make a sequel or a new game with the same atmosphere in the future. The layout of this game shouldn't go unused. Glad that they didn't decide to use zombies in this game. 10/10

Okay, I already wrote a glowing review for the 3DS version (LOVED it!). So I'll spend most of this review pointing out the differences.

Number one, I noticed the noises are scarier on the bigger screen, bet it would be awesome with surround sound. Second, if you didn't have the extra attachment for the 3DS, you're going to have to get used to using both thumbs to walk properly. Takes some getting used to, but if you've played the later Resident Evil titles you'll be fine. Also there is no 'inventory', like what you see on the touch screen. The map is in the upper right corner along with a 'pill' that tells you how many herbs you have. Button wise, you use the R1 for shooting and every thing else on the PS controller buttons are the same. Oh, and to use the genesis you pull the L2 rather than switch it with the D-pad, I liked this, made it much more seamless to switch between scanning and shooting, which is handy with the underwater creatures.

Game wise, everything is pretty much the same with a few differences. Chris still barely moves his lips when talking (really wish they would have fixed that, especially with him being in two modern titles). There is a new enemy which you will first 'notice' in the solarium where the pool is. There are weird 'cocoon' things there, they don't come after you when you first turn on the filtration for the water. I played on normal mode the first time and only 1 of the cocoons hatched and came after me when I looted the pool. The 'wall blisters' are pretty creepy, like a sloppy goey hunter that wants to give you a big hug. 2 hits with the shot gun took care of them, I never let them get close. They're also in the tunnels leading to the bilge. Then there are some extra lasers outside the lab you need to maneuver through, Chris gets buzzed first to let you know they're there. And one last difference that is a bit annoying, in the sunken Queen Dido when Jill is using the welding torch to get through the doors.....you do nothing. On the 3DS you had to draw on the touch screen, I wish they would have had some button combos or something, because the animation of Jill cutting through the door was boring to say the least. Oh yeah, and the rifle is located in a different location. Good thing I decided to turn on the pool filter before taking on Scaghead.

Thats pretty much all thats different. Overall I think its a good port, and if its your first time playing this I think its a solid RE entry and prefer it over the last two numerical titles. Its very creepy in places, there is some high action and confusing story lines, but it 'feels' like Resident Evil, which is the important thing to me. I hope for the series that they follow this title with subsequent RE releases.

Overall, I enjoyed playing RE: Revelations. It is nice to have a dose of viruses and random monster, in my opinion, and RE:R delivers on that at least.

Game controls are simple enough for anyone with RE experience to pick up, and even those new to the series won't have much difficulty grasping. The new "feature" to RE:Revelations is a scanning device, in which you use to scan enemies and the environment. Scanning enemies will reward you with healing items, while scanning the environment reveals ammo, healing items, speciality items, and of course the "collectable" items common to the franchise these days in the form of bloody handprint.

Enemies are different from prior REs, though I swear the common baddies look an awful close to a mini-boss enemy from an older RE. Boss encounters follow RE tradition: lots of bullets, a few built in mechanics to spice things up, and quick "instant-death" moments if you are not on your toes.

My main gripe with this particular Resident Evil is the pacing. It is all over the board. In the beginning, it starts slow. Tight corridors, creepy feel, a real sense of survivor horror. But, just as you are starting to remember what that feels like, it jumps to a more full-auto, fast pace, FPS game. The harsh transition is so abrupt, so unnecessary that it really takes you out of the game. If they simply stuck with one or the other; a creepy survivor horror or a fast pace FPS, it would have played out better. But this awkward attempt to blend both just ended up ruining the immersion and you can't get back to enjoying the story.

Worth a rent? Yep. A buy? Maybe, if you are an RE fan.

For the record, I didn't much care for RE6 and so I kinda hoped that Revelations would go back to more RE5; i.e. a linear story where you play the same character(s) throughout, not to mention a local co-op option would've been very appropriate considering that in Rev. you typically have an NPC sidekick. This newest installment features a decent amount of puzzle-solving, excellent variety of foes (single and mobs), nice selection of weapons including upgrades as well as AOE sub-weps, In-game graphics are good for PS3 (50" screen FTW) however the cut-scenes leave something to be desired (if you care about those), and I thought how each chapter recapped like a weekly TV series was a cool innovation.

Unfortunately I thought the close-combat option was a fail (not as good as either RE5 or 6) where basically you shoot a foe enough to make them "falter" then close in as quickly as possible for like one swipe with your knife (practically useless) and IF the "X" button option pops up (right place, right time, tongue in the proper position) you get to go Jean-Claude Van Damme on `em which looks cool but again... damage-wise pretty pointless not to mention if you linger or fail to dodge... well, let's just say their ratio of damage to yours must be like 5:1. Also, maybe it's just my imagination but it seems like movement speed has slowed down a bit (felt like I was moving in quicksand) and there's no run option which comes in particularly handy when trying to evade a boss or on the occasional timed mission.

Overall good addition to the franchise as far as single-player campaign (online co-op not my bag), and may I just say to the designer(s) responsible for Jessica... WOW, she deserves a standing ovation for doing absolutely nothing! :o)

I have been a gamer for a long time and have particularly been a fan of Shooter games especially on the PC. Somehow, online multiplayer shooters have never been my cup of tea. I have tried Battlefield series, Resistance and a few others.

The main reason is that even after putting in weeks I continue to suck at these games. Somehow, that stops being fun very soon.

However, I think I have finally found my Multiplayer addiction. I picked up Warhawk as an impulse buy and after just two days I am absolutely hooked.

The graphics etc. are pretty good. It has some issues with stats and online leaderboards. Lacks some lobby features. Some of these are going to be addressed soon, others we'll have to live with.

What makes this game one of the best I have played, however, is the gameplay. For the first time learning the game was actually fun. While I am pretty bad at it, I can still have fun being bad. It takes a few hours to learn the ropes. I suggest you download/read the manual and a few online guides. After that this game has me totally hooked. I am giving it 5 stars for it's mind blowing gameplay. Even the initial learning curve is hugely fun.

Pick it up if you like shooters. You will "Get" online multiplayer gaming with this.

Whew! That's how you feel after you put down the controller. This is one of those mindblowing games that is so frenetic all the time you can hardly catch your breath. The dogfighting is amazing, graphics look nice, no lag. There are already tons of servers to connect to, so getting in a game is easy. It takes a little while to get used to the controls, but once you do it is balls to wall action. Keep in mind there is no real story here. There is no real campaign to undertake. Some might be turned off by that, but I found that it didn't detract from the overall experience. Historically, I've never been much for online play, but this game may have just changed my mind.

You risk your social life, your job and your relationship. This game is seriously addicting, I can't get enough and I fear my marriage my suffer because of it.

This online multiplayer shooter is everything I hoped it would be and more. It's fast paced and intense, provides an immersive atmosphere, impressive variety and rewards teamwork and strategy. The feeling of being in the middle of a pitched battle while trying to claim that crucial zone (or defend your flag, or to survive that dogfight, or bring the enemy flag home for the win) is amazing. You've got Warhawks dogfighting overhead as you take on ground troops and tanks. Bullets whiz by and explosions detonate all around as you hope those same aircraft don't take notice of you, all the while you've got to keep moving as you never know when that sniper will find you in his sites. Or, you can choose to be the person in the Warhawk, defending your team as they battle it out on the ground. Or, you can be the sniper, hiding on a hill just waiting for that perfect shot to present itself. Really, the possibilities are huge.

When you find yourself on a team that is using their headsets it gets even better as a well coordinated attack or defense can turn the tide of the battle.

With Incognito's promise of downloadable content to come you can bet this game will grow and evolve giving you reasons to keep coming back to it. There have been a couple of bugs that have cropped up since its release but, in all honesty, they haven't really affected my enjoyment of this game in the slightest and with Incognito's dedication to making this game great you can bet that these issues are soon to be fixed.

So, if you didn't get the sarcasm in my title, let me rephrase:

GO OUT AND GET THIS GAME TODAY!

And while I won't go so far as to say that this game alone is a reason to buy a PS3 if you don't already have one, with all the great games on the horizon combined with how great this game is, now is as good a time as any to get a PS3.

I originally crossed this game off my list when I heard it didn't have a single-player mode. In almost 20 years of playing games I never liked multiplayer because it was always mostly 12 year old kids cursing up a storm or people ruining the game by cheating.

Last week I thought "Well, we're in the 21st century, might as well get used to the idea of multiplayer". I got this game two days ago and have already spend over 8 hours playing. I think I just might call in sick tomorrow as well.

In my opinion, this is the best game to get you started in a multiplyer gaming. Unlike online FPSs, this diversifies the game a hundred fold by having so many different types of fighting Air, Ground, Vehicle. The real fun begins when you start finding unusual ways to getting a kill and it introduces a whole new dimension to the game. Imagine being a lone soldier on foot, with nothing but a pistol and a grenade being chased by a Warhawk into a bunker. Warhawk goes into hover mode and tries to stick its guns into the doorway of the bunker. As he lines up you toss a grenade at him. KABOOOM! You just took down a fighter plane with a HAND GRENADE!

The crowd on the servers seems to be more on the adult side I have found the people to be polite (One guy apologized twice for running me over accidentally with a tank). I think it has something to do with the fact that the price of PS3 keeps the younger gamers away. That won't last forever, so if you were previously put off by your past multiplayer experiences, this is the right game and the right time to get started.

My only complaints are just like everyone elses: The server interface needs work, preferrably like the one R:FOM where you are placed in the game automatically based on your rank/skill level. Also, some people are using "budget" headsets, which sometimes generates so much noise that no one else can converse throughout the game. That by the way is not the game's fault.

I think this game sets a new multiplayer standart, which is a good thing. I look forward to downloadable content as well as similar games in the genre.

I am an owner of both a PS3 and a Xbox360. Up until recently I have been pissed with the PS3's library of games (compared to 360), but that might be changing soon...

I picked up Warhawk and I must say "This game is loads of fun". Seriously if I had to describe Warhawk in one word, that word would be "FUN". The game runs very smoothly online.

GraphicsThe visuals in this game are stunning. The draw distance and scope of the levels are like nothing I have seen. Flying through the clouds is pretty sweet. It feels like you are in the middle of a battle.

SoundThere is nothing like walking around on foot and hearing a Warhawk fly by speeding over your head. Or the sound of Rockets buzzing past you. Machine gun fire from turrets. All in 5.1 Glory!!!

Controlyou are going to get OWNED for the first few games till you catch on. But dont worry at first it might seem pretty difficult but it actually becomes second nature very quickly (about 1hr)

Fun FactorAn ABSOLUTE BLAST.

If you own a PS3 this is a must have. If you do not own a PS3 this might not be the game that makes you go get one but it will definately add validity to the purchase.

Had this pre-ordered and popped it in first thing when I got home.

After experiencing what Ninja Gaiden has built itself into since it was first released on the original XBOX, it pains me to say that this Ninja Gaiden is very disappointing. Each installment (including the Sigmas) just got more and more incredible, adding new weapons, missions, playable characters, etc. This game takes all that away. While there are trials (similar to missions), and while there is supposed to be some extra weapons added via DLC at a later date, this game just feels like it has more than abandoned the momentum of the series.

I won't spoil the story, but let me just say I found it to be just as much (if not more) of a throwaway tale as NG2. Combat is much easier on Normal Mode than ever before (you can pretty much just mash square to dispatch most enemies), but a Hard mode is available right from the start for NG fans looking to maximize their challenge on the first play through. There aren't any collectables or upgrades in this game and levels are very linear. Not to mention you can no longer heal, but have the ever-so-popular regenerating health now...

Gameplay is what suffers most from this new take on Ninja Gaiden. You will basically find yourself moving from area to area in a very linear fashion, often being forced to stop and slaughter the same 2-3 dozen enemies you just did only moments before. There are no side paths or any collectables of any kind. Each level typically has 2-3 new enemies in it, but most of the time you'll might find yourself slaughtering repeats as well. Even with new enemies being introduced, it really does feel like you are fighting way too many of the same battles over and over. Another thing that hurts is since you cannot heal manually in this game, you pretty much to get it all right in one try. This will surely frustrate on some of the higher difficulties. Luckily, the game does offer a pretty forgiving checkpoint system should you perish, often restoring you at the last major thing that happened in battle. For instance, if a boss has two forms and you die after having already defeated the first one, the game will simply put you at the beginning of the fight with the second form.

Overall though, I didn't give the game a one star rating because it works. It doesn't freeze and isn't plagued with glitches. It's just an empty game. The kind that you only play through once and then forget you even own it. The combat can get pretty gruesome at times, with some of Ryu's "Steel on Bone" attacks actually making you cringe. I found the enemy commentary while you are chopping up their comrades to be very stupid and unrealistic. However, once wounded, some enemies will beg to be spared instead of blindly attacking you until they're literally in pieces. I found this to be a nice touch as it isn't very believable when every single enemy is so eager to throw his/her life away. Despite others complaining about the camera, I didn't have any trouble with it, so don't believe it when people say it's bad. I found the camera to behave better than it did in NG2.

This is not a review for the multiplayer as I just didn't have anything left in me to try it. Although, if I do try it at a later date, I will update my review. Here's hoping NG4 (if we get one) does much better.

Plus, I miss the ninja babes =,(

Love NG sigma 1 & 2 and think they are the best action games ever. This game is a big let down. Where are my weapons from NG Sigma 2????? It has all the cool weapons and we can pick the ones we prefer. This game only provides a sword!! This is a huge step back of fun and replay value. Then probably Tecmo heard people complaining and gave us 2 more weapons from free download contents, the claws and the scythe only. However, we can only use them in story mode, not multi-player or ninja trials online. The only way we can use them is to pay Tecmo for the additional download contents. What a joke? Why do we need to pay for stuffs that they should be included? And for sure that those weapons are recycled from NG 1&2 anyway. It's not like Tecmo needed to hire a whole new design team for that.

I know I am more like reviewing Tecmo here, but a great or bad game is depended on what company stands behind the game. And the thing that made me frustrated the most is Tecmo killed a great series and let me and most of its fans down. Thank you for your time and sorry to hear me vent here.

Most fans of this franchise will already know why my review and subsequent reviews are rating this game poorly. In an attempt to make Ninja Gaiden his own, Hayashi-san has stripped everything out of last generations Ninja Gaiden games, leaving nothing but a hollow, empty shell. Multiple weapons are out the window (yes I know future DLC, regardless that is trash design), terrible level design, shallow gameplay, horrendous story, and otherworldy creatures rarely make an appearance. In fact I would have been fine if they took all this out and filled the void left over with something worthwhile. The fact is that they stripped all these features and have nothing else to show for this game. Even the original score sounds scaled back. I fear for the future of this franchise. Avoid this game until it drops to $20.

Okay, let's get a few things out of the way.

1. Ninja 3 is not NG1 or NG2. I think most everyone has said that, and many ding the game right away for that simple statement.

2. Ninja 3 is easier than NG1 and NG2. Another recurring theme, another few points taken off in most reviews.

3. Ninja 3's story is weird and confusing. Same thing, points taken, etc. At this point you are somewhere with a 4-6 rating, where most pro reviewers ended up.

4. Ninja 3 is fun and still a top action title. What?! Has this guy lost his mind.......

No, I haven't. I enjoyed this game. Although it was shorter and easier than the prior 2 games, I had a blast playing this and learning the altered combat system. Let's quickly run through the positives and then I will address the items above.

>Visuals. Best looking NG title yet. Still an above average title graphically with some really smooth character animations and details.

>Sound. Typical NG. There is more interaction with enemies with the constant trash talking (kind of weird) and begging (not so tough now,huh black ninjas?).

>Controls. Typical NG stuff. More like 2 than 1, and admittedly the speed seems to be even faster so there can be camera issues at times. Honestly though, it isn't as bad as people claim.

>Replayable. It is short, which makes it an easier game to replay than the lengthy first one. And with new weapons DLC out, a second playthrough is warranted.

Now, the issues above.

Ninja 3 is not NG1 or NG2. Similar comments were made when part 2 came out (new combat was gratuitously violent, too fast for camera, too linear). People forget that when NG2 originally came out it got 7s from a few companies for those very reasons. This is just a cycle in the series, mainly from people that don't like change and felt NG1 and its labyrinthes and puzzles were a better game than the straightforward action driven titles of 2 & 3. To each his own. I preferred 2 & 3 because I didn't have to revisit areas multiple times just because I needed to find a puzzle piece or key.

Ninja 3 is easier than NG1 and NG2. The developers stated that this was a primary theme behind the third game. It should surprise no one at this point. I see it as a legit thing that had to occur. NG1 was critically acclaimed, sold well, but was largely heralded as too difficult. NG2 had fewer sales as a result and was deemed to be even harder by some. Many gamers swore off the series after that because what is the point of punishing one's self when they want to relax? I do think gamers have forgotten the no save NES days, especially of NG, but I see why the developers made it easier so more people would be willing to play. No matter what, sales drives development. In any case, new difficulty modes are available via DLC so the hardcore are being accomodated as well.

Ninja 3's story is weird and confusing. Which NG hasn't had this, yet none got dinged for it. NG1 was about the weirdest game ever with Fiends, naked bounty hunter chicks with sisters turned into Fiends (what is one anyways), an emperor that is essentially a crab with a giant skull on it, etc. The list goes on and on. NG2 was just as weird, mixing in Fiends and a rival spider clan. Dagra Dai, some vampire like witch, and the Arch Demon itself being at least 30 stories tall but being defeated by a pint sized ninja. To hear people say 3 is being dinged for a confusing story I just wonder if those same people played through the first two games.

My whole point is that this game caught a lot of negative publicity for the wrong reasons. It may not have been the strongest title in the series depending on what you are looking for, but it is the most accessible and doesn't lose much of the flavor the prior two titles had. I recommend people give this game a shot, especially since I have already seen it as low as $39.99 at times.

This game truly upsets me! :(

I've played (own) NG1, NGblack, NG Sigma, NG 2, NG Sigma 2 (but haven't beaten Sigma 2 yet.)

I've only played through 2 boards of 3, and I like some new things...BUT why did they remove so many of the features that made all the previous versions so good!!?

Multiple essence orbs (money, health, ninpo) gone. Muramasa with weapons, upgrades, items...gone! How about the ability to walk around a board and find stuff (maybe hidden areas)...gone. So far it is a one track direction.

I pre-ordered this game, with the idea that such a successful franchise (even without Tomonoba Itagaki) just had to create new levels, new story, maybe add or modify some weapons and boom, continue the greatness like before! Instead they removed most of what made the others great...why!? Did they honestly feel this lived up to the name when testing it!?

I've only played through 2 levels. Maybe I haven't played long enough. But I don't want to waste anymore time on this game unless I can find info that the game gets better...which I have yet to find.

I think I might just go back to finishing Sigma 2.

If you are fairly new to the Ninja Gaiden series, it might be good for you. For anyone that was a big fan of the previous versions (and actually beat them), make sure to play a demo or something before wasting your money!

Flawed but Fantastic ...

Was eagerly anticipating this game as it promised to deliver over 50 Ferraris to drive on fantastic race tracks around the world.

Positives:

+ Realistic Handling. I own a Ferrari 348 myself and felt the handling was very similar.

+ Nicely detailed tracks

+ Decent (but not world class graphics)

+ Challenging to drive there is a learning curve for all newbies but the rewards are worth it. Turn off all the assists and the car becomes easier to drive.

Negatives:

Didn't provide the 50 cars that were promised future download content were scratched

System 3 sucks

Lots of niggling bugs some of which were addressed in a support pack. But there are a lot of other faults/improvements that are still needed

AI drives unnecessarily aggressively if they drove like that in real life, they would be blackflagged immediately and their racing license revoked. Hint: Overtake them on the outside.

Car sounds are not that great

Cannot save games / poor replays

Small customer base makes it a moot point to get future updates / upgrades.

Despite the many negatives, it is a must-have game if you like realistic driving simulations. Don't buy it if you want an arcade game you will get bored in two days.

Ferrari Challenge promised a lot but delivered very, very little and early owners of this game amounted to nothing more than beta testers who had to pay for the privilege.

I'll start with the good, the driving physics are rather accurate and the track selection is lengthy and diverse, even if some of the circuits are a bit inaccurate. The inclusion such world class circuits like VIR and Spa was especially welcome.

Despite gritty and low rez graphics, the game has a low and inconsistent frame rate and is rife with popup. It completely fails in conferring a sense of speed, an attribute any racing game should posses.

Opponent AI is equally lackluster, consisting of nothing else but remorseless blocking that allows cars ahead to escape. The behavior exhibited by the AI would be promptly black flagged in any amateur or professional race series on earth.

If that were not enough, the game as delivered, featured completely broken online racing that was fixed for MONTHS. In addition, PROMISED DLC has been scuttled because of "licensing issues", but curiously these issues don't prevent the DLC from being rolled into a new game from System 3, called "Supercar Challenge".

Don't buy this game. Don't reward these developers' lies and deceit with you hard earned gaming dollar. Gran Turismo 5 prologue, while not without issues, offers a MUCH better racing experience and MUCH better value for your dollar.

I'm playing this using a Logitech Driving Force GT steering wheel.

This is a rather small racing game, with fewer tracks and cars than most other games, but considering the rock-bottom price it's going for these days, I thought it would be a good deal. And overall I guess it was. You've got 4 different modes of play, the primary one is probably the "Challenge" mode. This has three sets of races: European, Italian, and North American. Each location has 7 races, and you have to use the exact same car for all the races. You also have to do the races in order, 1, 2, 3 etc. You can't skip ahead or go back. You can set the length of each race for 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or longer. You cannot restart any race, you can only exit the race, resulting in a last place finish, and then go on to the next race. Winning races in this mode unlocks tracks for use in the other parts of the game, as well as unlocking cars which you can then purchase but still not use in this part of the game, only the other modes.

The other modes are Time Trial, where you drive around a track with no other cars on it, simply trying to set a good time. Then there's Trophy mode, where you can race the cars you've purchased. There are three races for each car, and I believe they last 10 minutes each. You have to race on the 3 tracks available for that car, you can't choose. Then there's Arcade mode, where you have 4 races each in beginner, intermediate, expert and legend difficulty. Once again, you can't choose the tracks, you can't skip ahead or go back, you just have to do them in order.

The handling physics are very realistic in my opinion, of course I don't drive a lot of Ferrari's in real life. And after playing this game, I wouldn't want to. These cars have gigantic amounts of both oversteer and understeer. Go into a corner at what seems like a very slow speed and the car will plow straight ahead. And plow, and plow. Once you finally get the front tires to hook up, stepping on the gas will send the rear end spinning around in front of you, so you have to use extremely mild and progressive throttle application. And forget about stepping on the brakes if you're going around a corner, as you'll spin out instantly. Eventually you settle into a routine of entering corners at an agonizingly slow speed (the speedometer says you're doping 40 mph but it sure looks more like 10 mph), then oh-so-gently get back on the throttle at the apex. Of course you can turn on the driving aids like ABS brakes, traction control (keeps the tires from spinning under acceleration) and stability control, but that tends to limit how far you can push the car and makes it impossible to keep up with the AI cars. You cannot upgrade any cars with performance parts, and you can only tune the one car that you use in the Challenge mode.

And those AI cars. Oh...My...God. These things are imbecilic. They are literally programmed to behave in exactly the opposite manner of real-life race drivers. They move to the inside edge of a corner as you approach, blocking your passing attempt. You can try to pass on the outside, but they'll just swing back to the outside as they exit the corner, drive straight into you, and then continue driving straight into you until you've dragged them halfway down the next straightaway. It's absolutely maddening. And they're always swerving all over the place. As soon as you get used to trying to pass them on the outside (which is usually impractical), they'll decide to swerve over there and block you. Coming up to a corner with two AI cars in front of you is always good for a laugh the first one will take the corner normally, but the second one will move to the inside to block you, resulting in them running into each other just about every time. The only reasonable solution is to play the game like a demolition derby, cutting inside corners and slamming into the side of the car ahead of you, which will almost always result in an easy pass.

Between the abysmal AI and the rather small number of tracks, together with the extremely restrictive nature of the career mode, this game gets old pretty quick. The good physics are fun, and as long as you're not battling the AI it's enjoyable to drive around the tracks. The graphics are actually quite good considering the age of the game. But if you're planning on playing this for more than a handful of evenings, you'll find yourself pretty bored and after too much time battling the AI, you'll be swearing at your TV screen like there's no tomorrow.

I hate to give such a low rating, because the game itself isn't particularly horrible (although it is painfully dated and can't be remotely compared to state of the art games like GT5,) but either I have a defective product or it has an unbelievably bad drawback the engine sound. There are 5 step-downs of the view of the track you can use from overhead shots of the car to nose camera view which I prefer. As you step down, the engine sound gets fainter and using the nose view it is completely muted. If you can't hear the engine, you don't know when to shift other than the tach, and isn't the sound of the Ferrari engine the whole point? I've tried everything within the game to adjust it, I tried to change the settings of the PS3 in case there was a 5.1 surround issue and I scoured the web for chat sites and reviews with no luck. Activision no longer answers customer support e-mail & refers you to a forum with hundreds of comments on all their games. Life's too short to have to work this hard to get a game to work. Wish I'd rented first and I welcome comments from anyone who knows how to address this problem.

Battleship is a really fun game and it is not too hard either. The graphics are pretty good. The ships look great. Since the fighting takes place on and around islands, you can watch all of the ships battling each other = very cool.

This is a first person shooter. During the ground battle you can open ship control. Winning both the ground campaign and the War at Sea is fun!

Enemy soldiers, once defeated, sometimes drop Wild Card power ups for your ships. These are really cool. There is one power up called Ship Command that lets you battle an alien ship in real time for 20 seconds. During this time your ship does double damage as you easily aim and fire the ship's guns.

There are different ships to command including, of course, a Mighty Battleship. Off-shore bombardment is the key to winning the ground battle.

Battleship is not a long game clocking in at about 8 hours or so, counting failed missions. The checkpoint system is good, however. Battleship is a really fun game!

This game is good to a certain point The only bad thing is that it would have been really good if you could have air support for one of the strikes you could call in .Also the alien weapons are not that much stronger than the humans

This game is not bad. But the problem is when you have a young kid just starting out reading, that where the problem comes in. You will find yourself reading the mission to your young child. Recommend ten years and beyond. If you are a parent with little time to sit and read mission this game is not for your young child. Instead, he plays black opps.

Man this thing looks and feels awesome but sadly it is one of the most unreliable controllers ever sometimes it will randomly hit a button which can be really frustrating in the middle of an online

FPS battle. Also sometimes in a game the camera will start moving in a random direction, mine usually goes down but sometimes it goes up. Also, this has happened twice to me, if you push the sync button the thing will not reconnect to your PS3 it just blinks for 3 minutes then shuts off I've tried everything on the stupid thing but it will not connect to my PS3.
