I will split this review (more of a response, really) into "Why/Why you shouldn't" buy the game and game/story sections so that I can save spoilers until the end and allow for a more objective, non-story related review of the game for those that care to avoid the plot details.

Why you might buy this game at full price:

1) You reeeally loved the first game, flaws included, and want more of the same.

2) You love online multiplayer and exploring open world environments

3) Boss battles (13 "Dead Zones") were a nice touch

Why you should wait for a massive price cut or avoid altogether:

1) If you were severely disappointed by the first one and told yourself you'd only buy a sequel if they made

improvements bc the ones made (fire weapons actually give light in this game) are minimal and not a enough to

warrant a purchase.

2) Glitches abound

3) The story defeats itself on many levels (it's also boring and confusing)

4) Solo gaming is nearly impossible due having to fight 7-9 zombies at a time

5) There is zero improvement on the combat mechanics (I can barely see my aiming cursor)

6) Zombies respawn even after rooms and spaces have been cleared

7) You were hoping for more "survival horror" elements; they were nearly completely removed from this game

8) The game is 30 hrs tops even w/ all side quests completed

Game Response:

It plays a lot like the first game. In fact it feels like a cut/paste job. Combat is as clunky as it was in the first game and solo gaming is near impossible for an enjoyable experience. I hate that I can barely see my aiming curser. The first game would typically send zombies at you in waves of 2-4 at a time, and the cry of the infected was saved for really bad areas; in the first game when you heard screams, it was only every few hundred meters or so enough to give you time to fall into a sense security only to have the shattered when you heard the screams again. However, in this game the infected are nearly everywhere. It made think of the Third Head of Cerberus side mission in the first game where you would make it half way to the destination (just over the quarantine wall) then just get SPAMMED with Infected; it's kind of like that everywhere in this game. I imagine if you're in a group this isn't an issue, but going solo against waves upon waves of Infected at any given time gets VERY frustrating bc the wave usually wins.

Further, the survival/horror elements are minimized. My favorite parts of the first game are the prison and the hotel missions bc you never know what's hiding there in the dark, behind closet doors, and desks, and bent-in prison bars. The second game starts out with that style, and I really enjoyed that a lot. The rest of the game, however, is geared towards team-centered action and open world exploring, which benefits sales (in theory) because I'm certain developers want you to tell your friends to buy the game so you can have help taking out hordes and hordes of zombies because (as stated above) they're impossible to beat alone as they are soooo massive in number.

The glitches are annoying, but this allows for really cheap yet really fun cheats. So it has good and bad results. For instance, a bad glitch is that Xian's "special" jump attack goes through the zombie wo making any actual contact. I've been killed so many times bc it throws off timing and doesn't land when it should. Also, Infected can sometimes faze through walls. When I throw a blunt weapon, sometimes it just disappears from the game entirely. However, good glitches allow for duplication of weapons in a number of ways, but I can't really credit developers for that bc that makes the game fun in a totally unintended way, can't really give credit for that.

They don't have any NPC help when securing an area or doing missions. There are 4 other BA fighters on your squad, and they just stand around all game unless a tower defense mission is in play and even then, they are in constant need of your help. I'm sure there's more, but this response is getting too long.

Story Review (Game Ending SPOILED!!!) here:

The story is basically the inversion of the first game. Instead of leaving an in-land urban setting to go to the jungle, you're leaving the jungle to a more in-land city setting. Then there's all this conspiracy about the mutation and who's behind what and blah, blah, blah. It became bad fantasy and sci-fi because they focused on the politics that give setting for the story more than the story itself. Within all that is the new danger of your character turning into the King of Monsters and possibly being the greatest threat to mankind's survival instead of its savior. This is basically what the game gives you as the story, and you're supposed to find the rest of the story in the surrounding world--this is a staple of open world storytelling; in order to avoid linearity, you have to let the world tell the story. This, of course, gives way to side missions with characters that seem to emote (almost too much at times) when asking for help; they're supposed to anchor and engross you in the world. And this can work, other games have done it; however, both games mostly fail at achieving any real gravity towards the characters and the world that they trying to save/fight for.

However, here's the ending spoiler, the game ends with the party for fighters and some of the people you saved on boat named "Sylvia," looking towards the future. Then it flashes to the future and there boat docks on a new island with zombie arm jutting out from the lower room. This is to suggest there is a possibility that your character does, in fact, mutate monster and kill the other survivors. I really hope this is not the case because of this reason: it completely kills the entire purpose of the game.

If those who are immune are doomed to mutate into that which kills the human race, why would that person fight monsters to help survivors. The more they fight they more chance they have of becoming a monster; further, if they don't fight, people are doomed to die anyway. All roads lead to a lightless, hopeless end of the human race, so why play in the first place?

Again, this is speculation because the ending is really open ended. Perhaps the survivors run into another boat, and they get picked up, leaving a boat that some Drowners happened upon. But, if they've made it so everyone dies in the end no matter what, there really is no point to playing this game.

I've played this game for about 6 hours now, and I must agree with many of the reviewers online that the game is very "fetch quest" heavy. I don't mind it too much since the idea is that you're immune to the infection and willing to go out in the wild to help people who can not help themselves. With that said, the "help me get these items" make sense. So far, I like the game. I enjoy running around exploring the island without having to stay on a set path. The graphics has been polished from the original dead island. I like the concept, graphics, and the free roaming. The graphics were nice. I felt like I was really in the jungle, and the layout of the island was like a maze, and it really give off the feeling of lost and frustration. Even though I like the game, there's a list of things that annoyed me and it shouldn't have been in the game considering this is their second game. There has been plenty of time in between the first and second to iron out the issues since they reused a lot of the design elements from the first.

What I don't like about dead island are the lip-syncing of the characters when they talk, no kids in the game, the weird zombie reactions and AI, and NINJA ZOMBIES!

1. The lip sync issue doesn't affect gameplay, it's just annoying to watch.

2. I didn't like that they didn't include kids and kid zombies in either of the Dead Island game. I'm not for killing kids, but it would make the story more believable and so much more emotional and intense. During the first game, are you telling me not one family brought their kids with them on vacation? So far in the second one, there were numberous quests that talk about kids and their safety. Where are they? If they included kids and have quests where you need to make decisions to isolate infected kids, or to kill them, it would add so much to the game and the player experience. So it's pretty much a straight up hack and slash game with some RPG elements mixed in. So with that said, the story and the characters are forgettable.

3. The weird zombie reactions/AI affect the game somewhere. There was a point in the game where there were 5 zombies in front of me, 4 eating on the ground and one standing there. The one standing there was facing me, and was the closest. But the ones eating got up and ran at me! I killed the 4, and walked up to the one stand and it teleported like 10 feet to grab me (grab animation). This really affect how you do your planning since you don't know which zombie you will attract and which one you won't.

4. But what bothered me most of all, are ninja zombies. At times zombies will spawn in your path as you're walking or in a room you know you secured. This happened to me three times last night. I don't want to give away the game so I'll be vague on where it happen.

I was carrying a quest item to the boat, and while walking, I saw a bag, and went to to get it. There was nothing around, and it was in a tunnel so I know there was nothing in front of me (becase if there was, then I would have killed before groing through bag), and nothing behind me as I just came from there, and know it was clear. The moment I opened the bag, I got hit from behind! And turned to see a zombie there swinging at me. I didn't die, but it took a huge chunk of power.

I went into an empty room to grab some fruit and alcohol bottle, went to the back of the room to explore, then turned around and saw two zombies standing there. They couldn't have followed me because they weren't aggressive, they were standing still. They spawned when I was there and my back turned. They didn't react to me until I threw a knife at one of them.

This one freaked me out a bit. I was sprinting down a hill towards the beach to pick up supplies. Then all of a sudden a zombie spawns right in front of me. I saw an empty path, then it popped into view and ran at me!

These ninja zombies appear out of nowhere and it can ruin a game for you if you're low on health and ran into an "empty room" for shelter. Overall, the game is an OK game. It continues exactly where the first one left off, so if you played the first one, this will "complete" the story I guess. Only thing I would ask for is for a patch that will do something along the lines of "if player is within x distance, do not respawn zombie". With this condition statement, it should prevent ninja zombies.

Overall, it's a good/fun game. But a little annoying.

-EDIT (downgraded fun factor) --

I've played about 18 hours now, and it's more of the same as it was during the 6 hours I've played. I did, however, noticed that during hub defense sequences, your "allies" doesn't really help fortify anything. They would stand there and wait until the game initiates the attack. So the player need to run around and put up the barricades, lay down mines, put propane canisters in place, and mount machine guns. I'm playing as Xian (asian woman) and seeing those big guys standing around twirling their weapons as I carry the gatling guns to their mounts was laughable. I figured they didn't program the NPC to help since they think people would be playing multiplayer. But why not have a cutscene where the NPC mount the guns then let player choose to initiate the attack? At least with that you feel like it's a team effort and not you doing everything. This goes for team building quests as well. The main characters would sit at home base and ask the player to bring them things. Why can't these guys just follow the player and help? And if a live person joins the game, drop one CPU character. That way once I find 7 sticks of deordant, I can give you on the spot and not go back to town to give to you. I find that the game is not fully thought through and it riding on the popularity of the first game and the zombie craze.

I really enjoy this game, but not so much the settings. I was expecting more of a beautiful Far Cry 3 type of atmosphere when I pre-ordered this game. I'm 20 plus hours in, and most of the game has been in the jungle, in dark tunnels and in the swamp.

The wheel of weapons: You'll be able to equip yourself with a few different weapons, and fix them and upgrade them when needed at a designated workbench.

UpgradingThis is an RPG and is all about having fun by challenging opponents that you know you can beat, and run away from enemies (with consequences though) when you know you're going to lose. If you lose, you lose cash, and are respawned at the exact location where you died, and the damage still says intact from your previous life.

Respawns for me: The respawn points for the most part put me in an advantageous position from where I died. Only one time, did I respawn not knowing where I was (after dying in the abandoned movie theater). I restarted the game, and I was put back in the theater.

Glitches, but helpful glitches: Sometimes, you can go back to where you came from and the loot is all there for the taking, so you can take more, repair and upgrade your weapons. Helpful cheats can be helpful.

Let me be clear though, this is not a bad 2 star or 1 star game. The game is fun, but the graphics (screen tear, characters not moving their mouths at the correct time during cut scenes) are not up to par with the top titles.

I've never played the first one, but am having a good time with Riptide. I just feel the swamp is not a place I really want to be. Far Cry 3 took me away to a dreamy land I actually dreamt of. This is sort of like a second rate Far Cry 3 with more depressing settings, or a Dead Rising 2 without the cool mall. In this game, it felt more like the after-effects of a hurricane, and your mission was searching for supplies. Getting one supply though usually took completing many tasks which never seemed to be enough. Nobody cared about helping you which really added to the tension. This game seemed different from the advertisement on Amazon's page with the man and woman setting fire to the trailer with the romantic music playing in the background. Personally, I wanted that game. It's my fault for not reading into the title "Riptide" which meant a giant tide came in and ripped the island apart. That being said, this RPG is fun, and a solid purchase, but I have a feeling I would have liked the first one more.

In conclusion, although I haven't finished the game, I feel like being in the city of Henderson makes me feel like I've accomplished something. It's a beautiful town filled with zombies. Escaping the jungle was a big accomplishment. This game is fun, and I expect this series to be a classic one day. Finally, I predict that if a PS4 budget version is developed, this will be one of the PS4's best selling launch titles.

Update: Just finished the game. I used the Fast Travel method to return to the jungle. Once in the jungle, I had a difficult time finding the Fast Travel method by the tunnels. It really doesn't stand out, so I went back in those miserable tunnels looking for the transition point. I FINALLY got out, and was frustrated. The bulletin board that has the Fast Travel method on it isn't very obvious to find. Anyway, I Fast Traveled back to my missions and finished the game. There was a lot of ammo and firepower, so it was a fun change from the slashing and throwing sickles and knives. Still find it to be a four star game.

PROS

Zombies

Co-op

Different weapons to try, create, and play with

Realistic weapon management (damage/repair)

Great sounddtrack (creepy and adventurous)

Great variety in zombie design, functionality, noises

Beautiful and realistic exterior environments

CONS

Stereotype characters

A gazillion connectivity issues. I have pimp internet seriously upgraded, to the mid-grade business class cable modem. My friend is on highest available speed cable modem. A different friend is, alas, on DSL. But even with the third friend out of the mix, once you're on for any amount of time you start lagging. Bad and hard, and you constantly have to drop into and out of each other's games to "reset." High speed buddy and I will literally use Google chat to talk to each other, because in-game chat is crap and constantly breaks up. On GChat, WHILE playing the game, we're having no problems with sound quality another reason we know it's the game, not us.

Friend search takes forever. To the point where it's actually easier to find and play with strangers than your own friends.

Loading between areas takes forever.

Connectivity issues mean you can, for example, be in a menu with a friend trading items, and your friend gives you a lot of stuff on their end, and it leaves their inventory. But it never makes it to your inventory. They just disappear into the ether, never to be seen again.

Zombies spawn in the exact same place every time no random factor.

All room environments look the same. What this means is, any "special area" you go to to clear out of zombies looks the same as all other special areas. If you go into a hut door, the interior looks like all other huts you've ever been inside. If you go into a cave, the cave looks like all other caves you've been inside. So you could be on the entire opposite end of the island and go into a room that looks exactly like where you were for some other quest, and be extremely confused about where you are, and then of course, feel less invested because you're not finding or doing anything new.

Driver visibility in road vehicles = bad and not in a justifiable way. Any driver in the world can look around their entire body if they want to while driving but not in this game. So you may, like I did, run over your own team mates without even knowing they are there. Or, not realize you have a zombie on you until it's too late.

Fury mode requires a very long button press to trigger (not useful when you're in the middle of fighting and getting swarmed, which is exactly when you NEED to use Fury)

There are some very obvious spots with "endless spawn." In one town (Halai) you can see them keep generating out of the same random holes in the sides/tops of buildings. The game is just not subtle, at this level of game and in this day and age, I dunno, this seems kind of below par.

UPDATE to the CONS list

Every time you drop in/out or even if you STAY in the game and move between areas your quest resets to the main quest. And every individual player can set their quests separately from the game they are in. So let's say Player 1 is playing a side quest, Quest B. Player 2 joins, and the game puts Player 2 on Quest A (main quest). Player 3 join, the game puts them on Quest A. Both players will get HUD directions that map to Quest A, even as they're running around with Player 1 and doing Quest B, extremely confusing. Sidetracked by some zombies and distracted by a room area that will offer secret boxes of weapons and some extra killing for XP, the group enters an area on the way to their Quest B destination. They complete the area, repair their weapons, and exit the area. Guess what? All three players get their quest reset to Quest A. DUMB. If you don't notice this, Player 1 may in fact lead them accidentally back to the path of activities for Quest A, until they double check the quest list, and switch it back.

Storyline character quests: This is very VERY poorly hidden in the game UI. So a heads up to any of you who buy this all the goodies you collect out in the world can offer benefit not only to the NPCs you meet, but to any of the survivors you meet in Paradise Base Camp (and throughout the game in future base camps). Basically, anyone YOU are not playing, or if you are with others, anyone that is acting as an NPC in the survivor camp can actually give you quests, but you don't get them by simply walking up to them like you do every other NPC in the game when you meet them (basically you don't get the little convo box that prompts a new quest with survivors from the original camp who are playable). These quests are basically to assist them with their role in the group so, let's say you're playing the rapper. If you're alone, you can get several quests from any of the other characters you chose not to play, the rest of the team, Harlow, Harry, Wayne, and the other merchants. To get these quests, you need to go into the game menu, go to the TEAM tab, and then wherever it says "new quest available" you need to go down to that line, and click on the quest to "make yourself eligible." Then you've got to go up to these people, they have a convo with you and tell you what they need. For some people, they are coming up with new weapon types (grenades, for example) and then they give you some freebies for supplying them. For others, you are helping them upgrade their weapons, and they will give you freebies or a weapon. In each case you get a LOT OF XP. But remember every time you complete a quest, you need to go BACK to the TEAM tab to open up the next one to continue. You turn in the quests like you do with other NPCs on the island once you have what's needed, a hand icon appears over the NPC to hand in.

It seems that this game much like its predacessor are good in concept but no so much on the delivery.

Weapons 9/10

The array of weapons and mods is great. only gripe that I have is the reach on some weapons plus your arm puts you out of reach of zombies and they hit you first. Its easy enough to dodge and attack but when Im weilding a 2 foot bat I have to have some reach.

Plot 3/10

Its a stereotypical plot very easy to guess and full of holes.

Audio 3/10

The music isdecent enough, but the voice acting is pretty bad.

Video 4/10

There a re plenty of bugs with zombies and invisible walls where a zombie climbs an invisible wall or just stands there stuck on something but not reacting. Also the zombie corpses that werent actually corpses just part of the scenery. I feel all zombies should be interactable or none at all having them all like that adds to the games spookiness.

Overall 6/10

The game seems like it was unfinished some major bugs here and there. Acting wasnt the greatest either but all in all it was decent so if you dont mind a buggy zombies its worth a rent.

This charger burned and melted my controller. I immediately contacted the company and, weeks later, got a response asking me to send back the product. I sent it back a month ago and have heard nothing in response, nor received a replacement, refund, or any sort of compensation or communication since. I do NOT recommend this company or its products and warn any and all from purchasing anything from CTA.

I love this charger. It's so easy to use and it works great. Like others have said it does do a clicking sound, but either it's faded over time or I got so used to it that I don't even notice it anymore. I've had the device for about 2 months now, but now I have a problem with it that I need to figure out.

My third charging section had actually MELTED the controller clip and it stopped functioning. I'm a little worried about using it now (the other two sections that is) as I wonder if the thing is a fire hazard or not...

This is a great charger. The pieces that fit on the controllers are light and easily go into the controllers. The controllers rest to charge with no hassle. Great solution without worry of damaging your controllers like other chargers. Slightly more expensive, but well worth the 10 or 15 dollars more you pay.

BLIND:

The City of Cincinnati has requested that you please make the blue glowing LED brighter, as it currently only lights up a two block radius.

DEAF:

The awesome loud clicking sound makes movie night that much better. Who wouldn't want to hear the sweet soothing sound of electrical switches flipping continuously?

DUMB:

It's super great for making that fourth controller of mine feel completely left out.

Also, the first unit crashed and burned after about a week. And one of the three charging inserts doesn't actually work. The good news is its actually made out of black plastic.

This drum set is a great value for under $30. If you have Guitar Hero World Tour (PS3) it works great, thats why I bought it. The software automatically converts the game play to 4 spaces from 5 (since guitar hero world tour drums have 5 drum pads, and this has only 4). If you're considering buying guitar hero world tour drums, not only will you spend $80 more on ebay for them, they don't work as good. I've played both a good amount and the symbols on the guitar hero drums set often fail to respond. You have to hit them just right, its very annoying. Just type "symbol problem guitar hero drums" in google and you'll see many people complaining about this issue. Another issue with the guitar hero drum set is that it doesn't have a bar to hold the bass kick in place. I have to commonly pause the game to readjust it. This one does have a bar, and the all of the drum pads work every time. If they cost the same I'd still buy this one.

My reccomendation, buy guitar hero world tour bundble (often available for $60 many places) add this for $27, and add a mic for $15, you get the whole set for about $100, can't beat that.

Pro: Compatible with guitar hero world tour ps3, inexpensive, very responsive, Pretty sturdy set for the money, has bar for bass kick.

Cons: Its wired, which isn't a big deal for me, and it doesn't have the symbols (which are fun when they work). I've read alot of reviews about the bass kick breaking, but I've used mine alot for about month with no problem.

Conclusion: If you own guitar hero world tour (ps3) you should buy this drumset.

This is the old version of the drums. They do not work with the cymbals and do not work with "PRO" mode on Rock Band 3 (you need the Cymbals for that). It's nearly impossible to find affordable RB2 or RB3 drums, so you may have to settle on these. They're not a very good value for $90.

My son loves this game and plays it more than any other. I rate it a 5 for fun but a one overall as it is expensive and is not made very well. The bad thing about this drum set is the foot pedal. It is cheap and not very sturdy. As a matter of fact the drum set that I just purchased less than a month ago already has a broken foot pedal. This is the second broken foot pedal for us in a three month period . Contacting the mfg is difficult and getting it replaced is difficult. They really need to make a better pedal and also should make it so that the pedal can be purchased as a separate component with buying a complete new drum set. Look on the Internet under "rock band drum pedal" and see how many people have had the same problem with breakage.

I just bought a ps3 slim 2 weeks ago. I wanted the original phat ps3, but the gamestop rep said not to bother with a "gamestop refurb," so I got the Black Ops Slim. The original ps3 looks much nicer with the Piano black, whereas the ps3 slim is an ugly duckling. In order to fix the looks, I bought this skin. Once applied, the skin looks great! There is enough of the skin to cover every part of the ps3, even the bottom and most of a controller (comes with 2 controller skins.). It took me about 15 minutes just for the top part because it's the biggest part. Take your time and it will come out really nice. I posted some pictures of mine above.

If you take your time putting the decals on, it ends up looking pretty nice. It's also very easy to mess something up even just slightly, and it'll end up looking pretty stupid. The decals are EXACTLY the same size as the piece they're for, any slight stretching will make the piece thinner and leave black showing on the sides. It's easy for the decals to stick to themselves as your trying to apply them, and pulling them apart is tricky without stretching or tearing. I got a smaller decal for the controller stuck to the back of the big top piece, I had to peel it off with a knife and ended up with a tiny little bubble there once I applied it. When you apply them, make sure you use a credit card and dish soap solution they talk about in the instructions. Otherwise you'll have a lot of bubbles, and you definitely won't get it in the right place the first time you place it. The controller decals werent important to me, the one I did apply looks kind of dumb, they're even harder to apply.

Let me say I've always wanted a white ps3! Ordering one from Japan for at least $550.00 was not cost effective for me. Being as though my 2nd ps3 is not even a year old! That's where the skins came into play! The skin arrived on time and unwrinkled. Only put these skins on when you have the proper amount of time! If you rush, I could see how you could destroy the skin. Pulling and stretching the skin will make it lose it's shape! You don't want that because each piece is tailored to fit! Hint: this is not a two person job, but the extra eyes and hands helps with the application and saves time! End result you ask? Flawless white ps3! Everyone down to my wife ask me if I bought a new ps3! It's a great product! The white really stands on! Oh yeah I almost forgot to mention the controller decals suck. Don't waste you time! I just went and bought a white dual shock controller! It looks soooo real! Sorry I didn't post any pics but you get my drift! For anyone wanting to give their ps3 a face lift this is the way to go! Remember TAKE YOUR TIME during the application process! Now back to MW3!

This really adds a great look to your otherwise boring PS3. A few things to keep in mind when applying:

-Take your time! The amount of effort you put in to the application is directly related to the end result.

-Use the spray bottle technique/card squegee technique. You're able to slide the pieces around instead of stretch them one they're on.

-It really helps if you have another person to help. Having another person helps with perspective.

-If you have a sweet bod with a plumage of chest hair like me, wear a shirt.....

I made a mistake in assuming that this wheel would basically replace the standard PS3 controller L stick functionality. In order to utilize the "6 dimension, multi axis motion sensing" advertised for this racing controller, the game you are playing must support the PS3 six-axis technology. This is not mentioned anywhere on the product packaging nor instructions. Of the racing games I tried (Gran Turismo 5, Grid, Dirt, Motorstorm) only Motorstorm supports six-axis. For the other racing games you are stuck using the D-pad at the left top of the wheel to steer the vehicle! So, basically this is a standard PS3 controller without the analog sticks! Very disappointing!

I was informed by INTEC that due to the lastest firmware from Sony, this wheel is no longer functional or supported. Enough said.

Wow, this thing really works! I enjoy Motor Storm, but I don't like racing with the conventional game pad. I also like sprawling in my Lazy Boy recliner when playing PS3 games. That means no mounted racing wheels. Not only is it a great wheel, but when racing motorcycles, you can hold it flat and tilt left and right, just like you would in the real thing. I must admit, since there weren't any reviews on this thing, buying it was a shot in the dark. Not to worry. It does what it says it'll do, and at a very reasonable price. Well done!

OMG My son is only 3 years old.. and every time i was playing he wanted to play with my controller. i got this controller over 1 year now, and he loves it, because it brings an usb and he can connected in his TV, Tablet and in my home computer....

Want PS3 Wireless Racing Controller Discount?

I don't own a PS3; however, when I saw this controller at a store for a cheap price, I told myself it is worth giving it a shot on my PC. After doing bunch of playing around and downloading drivers from the Internet, I got it fully functional on PC. So for those of you who want to use this on a PC, it works fine, including the 6-axis function, but you will need a relatively high technical knowledge and do digging around on the Internet to find appropriate drivers that have no official support. You're on your own to get it working.

About the controller itself. It works beautifully, it does what it says. However, because it is essentially a PS3 6-axis controller in the shape of a wheel, with no way to secure it on a table like a regular racing wheel, your arms get tired pretty quickly. And because it doesn't come with pedals, I programmed the controller such that acceleration and braking works with leaning the wheel slightly forward and backwards respectively.

It makes you look like you're a 10-year-old, like holding an imaginary steering wheel and running around the mall. For a under 15 bucks, it is a fun toy.

I may not have read the description thoroughly. I'm not saying I didn't get what was described. But I had a different idea of what to expect. I felt like this was a very expensive sticker. Like many people, I wanted this game to be like Team Fortress 2 but to the next level. Unfortunately, you cannot have as much fun in Brink like TF2. Obviously the game is new and not as many people own it but there should be more servers with different mods or methods of playing. For example, games like Uncharted 2, Black Ops, Killzone 3, Socom4, and others have many different ways to play. Brink has a number of mission types but it does get repetitive. As far as I know, I have not seen a Team Deathmatch type game even though you are technically in one due to the mission.

PROS

-Very good Graphics

-Cool Customizations

-Maps are large and lots to do

-The movements of the game

CONS

-Not enough weapons

-Some glitches

-Not Enough maps

A DLC will be coming out in early July (was supposed to be June) that will include 2 new maps (only)and some new content. The DLC is free for people the first 2 weeks it (the DLC) becomes available.

This game is not horrible, but it is not great. It was hyped up no doubt and should have way more content. The content in this game is about 10% of what it should be. Solutions

1. Adding at least 5 more maps

2. Adding new weapons somewhat similar to Team Fortress 2 but more modern looking. We all know the huntsman of TF2 for the sniper. Brink should have Crossbows, flamethrowers, harpoon guns, whips, chinese stars, swords, and many other items.

Cannons would be cool instead of the stupid mg nests. This game has a lot of potential but needs a serious upgrade for the weapons. Like many have pointed out the weapons are very similar even with some of the changes you make. The sniper rifles are pretty good but need more additions.

3. Needs more gamers playing on PC and others to create new servers with new mods

Just look at Team Fortress 2. They have new additions every so often with weapons and maps. Yes it has been out for a long time, but Brink runs the risk of not getting more sales and losing current gamers. This new DLC better be very good and they need to have another update about a month or two later because Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 will surely make Brink forgettable. I know they are not the same style, but people can only play so many games at once.

Team Fortress 2 is favored over Black Ops and many other newer games by many gamers. It does not have the greatest graphics but it makes that up by having a huge amount of maps and upgrades. Brink needs to follow this lead and bring more maps and weapons. Currently there are only 8 maps (2 more with DLC) and weapons are horrible before you customize them.

To people who hate this game, it may be that they really don't like it. I hated this game the first couple days I had it until I learned how to quickly upgrade the weapons. Common sense: You must go to Challenges and complete each one. When you go to the weapons selections it tells you what challenges you must complete to get the weapons. Once I upgraded my weapons I went from a one star rating to a 3 star rating.

Bottom line: This game is not as bad as people say. However there should be more interacting when playing as a team via typing or mic and more mods and other upgrades via Bethesda as I pointed out.

Thankfully I got this game for under $30 and play on PC. As for Xbox360 and PS3 I don't think you would be disappointed spending about $30 on this game. I think the price needs to drop to $30 or less for all platforms not just PC.This game would be excellent for $20 which could happens soon if the DLC is not good. People should rent the game or buy it used if you are unsure. Also keep in mind that the DLC update coming soon will be free for 2 weeks. So you need to get the game sometime during the 2 weeks that the DLC is available.

I went on very long and was a bit repetitive cuz I hope Bethesda improves this game. I also wish more people owned this game and played it like Team Fortress 2.

***** UPDATE***** 8/11/2011

I have been playing the game mainly on PC ( I also own the PS3 version but PC version is far better, especially the graphics) Nevertheless, it is still pretty fun on PS3.

So the DLC has two new maps and a few other items added for the classes. However, Splash(Bethesda) has failed to incorporate different modes in the game such as team deathmatch, capture the flag, or other modes of play. This game will probably be next to free very soon especially since the big hits (B3 and MW3) are coming out pretty soon. Nevertheless, I would still recommend this game for PC due to the better graphics and the long and fun matches between teams on a full server. When the servers are filled with human players (not bots) the game is very fun even on PS3. The matches last a lot longer and you can see what the developers wanted this game to be like. However they failed on a number of things. I will list the following recommendations that can make this game a huge hit like TF2.

1.****************** NEEDS MORE MODES OF PLAY.*******************************

2. Addition of different items every so often such as TF2 that can be purchased and some would be free.

3. Game should be made free or for $10 maximum to attract lots of gamers.

4. More maps and weapons as stated

5 A Reason to play. ( TF2 has people playing since its fun and free. But more importantly, there is something to play for. People have new items being acquired and people can dominate others in the game) Brink needs this type of stuff to make the game REWARDING if you know what I mean.

Like I said, if this is implemented this game will be one of the biggest hits on steam and the company will make lots of money selling items and just giving the game for free and building a very strong and active Brink community.

I have completed this game now on my main class engineer as well as taking another to 15 as medic, and after figuring out the point distribution I have high hopes for this game once it is online for my platform (ps3).The point system lets you max out only one character class, but does not totally punish you for changing jobs on the fly if needed. Not to reiterate the previous reviews I want to touch on what they did not.

I play Call of duty, Killzone 3 and many FPS since the early 90's. Many of my favorite FPS are what I would refer to as frag tag. Fast kills in an almost arena like atmosphere. This game is not of that model.

This is a splash damage game as they have always produced, taking a Wolfenstien / quake: Enemy territory approach to a comic like post apocalyptic universe.

I have scored it high because what it does it does well. I feel the low reviews are based on expectation. Expectation that does it no justice as it is being compared to games that are FPS but not of the same style.

The choke points that people complain about can be flanked or massed against. They are meant to cause a strategic showdown between two opposing teams and they deliver.

I am not a "fanboy" of this title, but I am a bit disappointed with the low reviews. To me many of them mirror a fictitious popular mechanics article trashing a car because it did not do well when they tried to take it out on the lake. Most of the anger is frag taggers beckoning to know why it took more than 2 shots to drop a foe, frustration due to overcoming a obstacle they expected to glide through. I understand, it's not the fast smash and grab/ Run and gun they are used to. It is like the difference in action RPG, and a Menu based RPG.

Here is the honest ending statement if you like a challenging first person shooter blending a similar play style to Unreal tournament/ Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

Then you will enjoy this game. People wanting a bad company 3/ COD 5 should wait for those titles. This is not meant to be offensive to fans of these type games I am as well but hopefully this will make people more aware of what type of title this is. Some people would love a game of this style and have been dissuaded due to "It's not COD!" type reviews. My opinion is thats all the more reason to love it, it adds to my library without adding to an army of clones.

Check out my video game review blog:

What do you get when you try to cross MAG or Team Fortress 2 gameplay with the look and feel of Borderlands and a futuristic Mad Max? Bethesda Softworks (Fallout 3, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion) and Splash Damage (Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars) hope its the next big franchise to hit consoles. The impressive art direction in the advertising campaign originally drew me to this game, but does it translate to tengaging gameplay? Now that it has dropped in price almost universally, is it something you should pick up now? Is it even worthy of it's all CAPS moniker?

The premise in BRINK is not anything we really haven't seen before, but it centers around a man-made, eco-friendly, floating city, designated The Ark, that is on the brink (get it) of Civil War. Since the oceans of the world have begun to rise to unsafe levels, The Ark has become a sort of haven for people affiliated with its original inhabitants, as well as other displaced people looking for a better life, who have to live on the outskirts. It's basically a bunch of Haves versus Have Nots. One group wants to break free of the overpopulation and desecrating conditions for the outcasts on The Ark (called The Resistance) and leave the floating city to see what the world is like beyond its walls, while the other group wants to keep the refugees in control and living in continued squalor, while they continue to benefit in The Ark (called The Security).

Upon starting the game, you have to first select and customize a character. While the customization options are ample, they aren't exactly endless. The character design is similar to Gears of War, with overexaggerated features and bulging muscles. There are four different classes of characters: Soldier, Engineer, Medic, and Operative. Obviously each has their own strengths and weaknesses and in this game you will be switching classes a lot during each level or mission, to complete objectives.

To move around, BRINK also uses whats been classified as SMART (Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain). In this, a button can be assigned to to quickly traverse across different environmental obstacles. Think of it as parkour influenced climbing, jumping, and sliding, reminiscent of Mirror's Edge. Unfortunately, much of the time, I kind of forgot about SMART and did the regular old climbing and jumping, except for the occasional slide.

I've spent quite a bit of time with this game, beating both campaigns (a total of 16 missions, but they are long missions, which turns out to be a blessing and a curse), and utilizing both solo play, as well as completing levels online with human counterparts. I get that the online component was designed to be a major selling point for BRINK, but the online community is pretty stagnant at the moment. When starting a level online, I would say that only about 25% of the time did I have another human joining me.

Gameplay

This game is quite frenetic when you first jump in. There is a lot of action going on around you and quite a bit of chatter from your teammates (which I liked initially, but then grew to hate). Initially, only one or two classes will have an objective that are pretty basic (hack this, defend this, escort this person, etc.), but the objectives increase (both primary and secondary), as you progress through the game. Just find a (or take over an opponent controlled one) command post, and you can switch classes. There is an objective wheel that is easily accessed at any time, that highlights the objectives and classes needed, so it's not too confusing. Select an objective and it'll point you in the right direction to complete it.

That's not to say that BRINK isn't fun because at times it really is. Shooting people and is almost always fun... for a while. Having the missions broken up by each side seemed like a really interesting idea, but they basically turn out to be the same levels, but just opposite objectives of each other. If the Resistance was trying to destroy something, when you play the mission as the Security, you're trying to defend the same thing you were previously asked to destroy. This doesn't flesh out the story as much as I would have hoped for, and really didn't make me pick a side I was rooting for, as if they had added totally different levels for each side.

There is a major problem with your teammates AI in the game. They are basically worthless (but every now and then surprise you with a well-placed turret), and you constantly feel like you are the only one that is able to do anything. For instance if you have to repair something and are playing solo, without human teammates, it seems like you are the only one of the class you selected that can get anything done. You have usually around 10 minutes to complete the objective, but it usually takes all 10 minutes because your teammates don't help at all. When they do decide to help, it's like a mad rush in the final minute or two. The opponents know where to congregate to protect what's needed, but it seems as if your team gets bored rather easily and leaves their mark.

Which leads me to my next problem with the game. If you die, or I should say when you die, because your opponent's ammo tends to be much more powerful than your own, you have to respawn

There are a few "what if" missions tacked on at the end, but they seem as more of an afterthought, than a critical part of the story, and are some of the shorter missions of the whole game. I recommend playing through some of the Challenge levels early on, as by completing them, you earn some upgrades for your weapons. There are 3 different types of challenges: fulfilling objectives, moving around with SMART to certain areas in a time limit, and defending, each with three levels of progressively harder levels.

Graphics

There are two distinct setting for the missions in BRINK. One is the futuristic Ark, which kind of reminded me of something out of Mass Effect. Lot's of plexiglass, neon, etc. Once the action moved away from The Ark, to Container City, I became re-interested in the game again. It's a totally different kind of look that really made me push through to finish my first half of the Campaign. There are lots of little crevices and creative shortcuts to find.

I didn't really experience any lag, when playing online, but only really connected with one other person at a time when playing the campaign. The multiplayer was solid and much more fun than playing with bots, but by the time I tried multiplayer, I was kind of burned out by the game. Sometimes when enemies died, parts of their body would be underground, or if they were standing on something and killed, seemed to be floating in mid-air.

Sound

Throughout the game you have a Commander basically talking in your ear the whole time. He gets very frustrated when things aren't going the planned way. Considering that you feel like you are a one man show on many of the levels, it get very annoying quickly.

I did find the chatter between teammates amusing. When you give supplies to another teammate, they always respond with some form of thanks. Additionally, when you have some supplies and they are needed by someone nearby, they will let you know.

Replay Value

There is a planned DLC coming soon (free for the first two weeks), which may increase the number of people playing online. Currently, there are 8 maps available for multiplayer skirmishes. I fear, however, that most players originally interested in the game have either moved on to something else or sold/traded in their copy.

Once the campaigns are completed, there is not much incentive to return to those missions. Especially the ones where your teammates seem clueless. There are some audio logs to collect, which supposedly add more to the story (or unlock a trophy/achievement when all are collected) but I didn't have an interest to find more.

There is a cap at level 20. When I finished both campaigns, I was at level 16, so I played multiplayer and replayed missions to reach the cap. There are bonuses for completing missions online (which I didn't know until about halfway through the game)

Honestly, I really wanted to like BRINK. Blending solo, co-op, and multiplayer into one somewhat seamless experience seemed innovative and intriguing. However, in the end, it wasn't done well enough to grab my interest for extended periods. Each mission is quite long, and if you don't succeed, feels arduous instead of energizing at the challenge, that you have to relive 15-20 minutes all over again.

Rating

6.5

another new IP, another disappointment [read: homefront].

first of all, if you plan on getting this for the single-player campaign, don't. there is no single player campaign.

brink's 'campaign' is simply offline multiplayer with bots [think about Killzone's 'skirmish' mode and you get the idea]. there are eight 'missions' in all and each mission can played from either the resistance or security persepctive.

unfortunately, these missions are convoluted, difficult to navigate, and even more difficut to complete because your wonky AI squad mates are essentially useless. most of the maps contain narrow corridors that result in chokepoints with 16 guys in a fifteen foot radius all doing the hokey pokey or break dancing. i was half expecting pop 'n taco to show up with a broken down cardboard box and do the electric bugaloo. and if you should die, well, you may have to wait as long as twenty seconds to respawn and then spend another 30 seconds running back to the action. in and of itself, it's not a bad thing, but since all the 'campaign' missions are timed, it's problematic.

another big complaint: weapon damage. sure, i can understand wanting to eliminate one-shot kills, but it literally takes an entire magazine to put someone down. so most of the time you're trying to find ammo or hoping one of your squad mates buffs you some. good luck with that.

sure, you have four quadrillion customization options, but if you're playing from a first-person perspective, who even cares? you can't see all your fancy face paint, head gear, and outfits [unless you're in the menus], so why bother?

instead of a great new shooter, you've got a great new $60 digital costume closet. congratulations.

if splash damage had spent as much time with the gameplay as they did with the customizations, they might have had something. unfortunately, as is the case with so many shooters these days, the game ships with skimpy content and we undoubtedly await the first $15 "map pack" in about a week or two.

it's getting downright insulting.

Want Brink Discount?

I avoided Brink at first due to poor reviews, but as the price got a lot cheaper, I decided to give it a try. Since I've only started playing it, and am nowhere near an expert on it I'm just going to comment on what I've experienced with the game. As a first person shooter, I didn't find it very satisfying. First of all, I'm amazed at how difficult it is to actually kill the enemy. Even at point blank range, it takes what seems as too many bullets to take someone down. Then, your downed enemy often isn't dead, but will rise right back up to kill you if you don't go and finish him off. Meanwhile, the action, which is pretty much non-stop, sometimes makes it difficult to even do this. Also, the actual aiming and shooting process just isn't as much fun as many other 1st person shooters that I have played. I want to like this and have played the first few missions on it, but I just can't see myself sticking with it. However, If you like non-stop, fast paced action, it certainly does deliver on that. It's frenetic pace does sometimes lead to confusion as what to do next, or exactly what is going on at the moment. I was hoping for a little more stealth and discovery, rather than the constant run and gun action. I could deal with the run and gun action if the actual shooting was a little more rewarding. I'm just glad I didn't pay $60 for it when it came out.

Now that you can get a 360 and a PS3 for less than you could have bought either individually when they launched, more and more gamers have both. Which is where this thing comes in.

I was a little hesitant buying it at first because there were no reviews, however I found several on Newegg (it was cheaper here though sorry Newegg) that gave it good marks, so took the plunge. I've had it about a month now and so far, so good.

It's smaller than the picture might make it look, which is a good thing in my book. Hooking up the 360 controllers is a snap, for the PS3 it's a bit more of a challenge (as is the case with almost all PS3 chargers) because of the mini-usb design, but it's nothing too onerous. They are all held in securely and charge as expected.

Overall I like it, really helps tamp down on the clutter that two systems brings. Only thing I'd like to see is maybe a usb port or two on the side to charge optional accessories, but that's really just a feature request, not a defect.

I've always had controllers laying around never fully charged. This is exactly what I needed to put them all together in one spot. Now the only thing I need to keep an eye on is to, make sure I don't over charge the controllers I don't use as much. I love how the thing lights up too!

This is a really nice item. I was looking for something like this for a while. It looks really nice and is a great way to keep my controllers organized. There are no complicated operations to get this working. You just plug your controller on the stand and the red light appears to indicate its charging. When done charging, the light changes to blue. On the box it says that PS3 controllers fully charge in 3 hours, and Xbox controllers charge in 6. I was having some problems with my play and charge kit, it would not recognize how much charge the controller had and would stop charging halfway. The pyramid completely eliminated this problem and now my controllers last longer because they're fully charged.

I would have to say that this is probably the most enjoyable football game to come out since the earlier NCAA Football's (i.e. 2005, 2006, 2007). There are many good changes that seem under the surface and are not extremely noticeable at first, but the quality of the game has definitely gone up for the next-gen consoles, although it's a disappointment that the next-gen versions have not caught up to the last-gen versions in terms of gameplay. This seems like it may be changing with the current iteration of NCAA Football.

Now, I'm not saying that this game surpasses the best of the NCAA Football franchise; it's just one of the best of recent times. The running style seems to be changed, which is great; the previous running style seemed extremely fake and unreal, and this one takes a step in the right direction. Jukes still don't factor in player momentum as much, but player acceleration does take a while, meaning that if a player goes from standing still to running or running one way to running the other they are forced to slow down, cut, and accelerate. This does wonders for the game. There are still some gameplay quirks, glitches, and whatnot, but that has to be taken with a grain of salt. Sometimes an option pitch will be caught by the defense when it would've been fought over or actually fumbled by the RB, and fumbles do happen more than occasionally, but the game is an obvious step up from last year's model and the year's before.

Road to Glory was not touched at all. That is a major disappointment to me :(. That was, and still is, my favorite game modes, and the fact that they payed no attention to it is sad. But the dynasty mode, especially recruiting, was taken off the hook to another level. Recruiting can be done on a PC, iPhone, iPad, probably even a Zune HD (HEY! I HAVE ONE OKAY?! AND THEY ARE COOL!), which immerses you even more and makes you feel like a coach. This may be a little over the top for some players, and that's fine; just do what you normally do. The online portion of NCAA Football '11 is really neat-o, and in my opinion it may be my most played game over the summer.

Dynasty is as fun as ever. Make your team the super team, take a terrible team all the way, continue an already established dynasty like Florida, Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, or Oregon and improve their dominance, whatever you want, it's still there. At one point my hopes went really high. I saw that there was an option for switching teams for conferences and I went all like "No way! They figured some conference shake-up would happen and made sure that you could put teams in other places! Cool!". But no, it was just a team switcher, you couldn't actually build your own super conference. That gave me a super sad face.

The interface is cool. The main menu looks a lot like the Xbox 360's UI, which was intriguing, but I got over it (I have both, so I know what the 360 interface is). Sometimes it takes a while to load, but that is forgivable. When it is auto-saving you can't do anything at all on the game. The scoreboard (onscreen) is a replica of the ESPN scoreboard and is very nice to look at, even though you probably won't be looking at the scoreboard that much, unless you're really bored. It's still a great feature and makes the presentation of the game more believable and a lot more "gameday-like", if you know what I mean (chips, beer [pop if you're under 21 like me], dip, hot dogs, the whole nine yards).

The graphics are awesome. If you're into just graphics, you won't be disappointed by these. EA games are meant to be played on the PS3, so if you have both consoles, get it on the the PS3. The lighting effects are great and the uniforms look vibrant and more beautiful than ever. The field looks nice, but when it does replays and shows you a long view of the field it is obvious that the grass doesn't pop up. I know that's not a deal breaker, but it would be cool and interesting to have, would it not? Helmets look great.

The commentary is still recycled, and recycled heavily. If you've played these games before -which I assume you have -you'll find yourself mouthing or speaking the sentences with Brad Nessler and Kirk Herbstreit (I miss Corso =[ ), or maybe just turning the commentary off altogether. It gets pretty annoying after a while.

I love it. If you love college football and were angry at the previous versions, I would highly recommend picking this copy up, because EA is starting to get the college football experience right.

EDIT: After a couple more days playing the game, there seems to be some more oddities within the actual gameplay, which is expected, but is also extremely annoying. In addition to the defense catching your pitch, sometimes players suddenly stop when they are running towards the ball or going to catch a ball, which is kind of frustrating as you'll be expecting them to continue forward like any self-respecting football player would do and then they suddenly stop. Running backs, at certain points, will cut back into the middle of the field -towards the rest of the defense -when there is a massive amount of open yardage on the edge and they most likely would've had a touchdown. These are just a couple of gameplay quirks that i noticed that really don't change how much I enjoyed the game, but for some people they will be deal-breakers.

ANOTHER EDIT: As I said in my previous edit, sometimes the players running will suddenly stop while going towards a ball. This killed me in one of my games. Michigan vs. MSU, I go down 17 to nothing, score 28 straight with the backup QB, MSU scores 17 more to make it 34 to 28, I score another TD to make it 35 to 34. 1 minute and 30 seconds left in the game. MSU is at their 19 yard line. They throw deep on the first play. I say to myself, "Let's let my computer controlled player run towards the ball so I don't accidentally make him run the wrong way". Seems sensible, right? WRONG. He runs...and stops. The receiver catches the ball at my 30 yard line. I stop them for a 3 and out, but they hit the field goal and go up 37 to 35. I can't do anything about it, I go 4 and out and they kneel the ball. GAH!!! (Played on All-American). Really?!

First and foremost, let me state that I am a sport fanatic and that's not limited to college football. Like 99.9% of sport games available, the yearly copy is simply a rehash of the previous year's game plus a few new gimmicks (EA is obviously the King of this). I am not much a of Madden player, however, as I prefer its college counterpart because I find an enormous amount of fun in recruiting. And it's in this field that EA seems to make players' lives difficult in the sense that they make it harder than it has to be. This year, I can say with a clear conscience, recruiting has taken an ENORMOUS step in the right direction.

Let me continue my review in the form of bullets, rather than paragraph form.

PROS:

-Recruiting now takes a mere 10 minutes per inquiry/pressing of a certain pitch, offering a scholarship, scheduling a visit, making a promise (which can now be done IN season), negatively recruit against another school, etc. In years past, pressing a certain pitch could take way too many minutes from your 10 hours of recruiting time.

-Recruiting takes on a game-show-like twist. Recruits will now ask you about certain pitches rather than the other way around. Once they pick a topic, you can either "make a pitch", "ask them how they feel about it", "compare to another school" (aka negative recruit), "Change the topic", "make a promise", "schedule a visit", or "offer a scholarship". I don't know if this is considered a PRO, but it's a breath of fresh air for this central cog in the game.

-You can change the "recruiting difficulty" if you don't want to keep saving and redoing certain weeks of your dynasty if a certain prospect keeps going to another school. This is nice because sometimes I don't want to lose all the 4/5 stars to the SEC...

-The "Locomotion" game play engine is a large step towards achieving game play comparable to the KING of football games, Madden. In years past, the movements of the players were "jerky" (can't think of a better word), while this year this game offers a much more fluid football. You'll know the difference once you pop the disk in your system. Personally, I'm pretty satisfied with the actual game play. It runs smooth and tackles/catches all look exceedingly accurate. The graphics are really beginning to utilize the full capacity of the PS3 system and I can only hope that EA builds on that rather than maintain it for the next few years.

-Unique entrances for each team. I think this is a gimmick on EA's part just to say they added something new to the game but for people who go to BCS conference schools (I'm an Oklahoma Sooner, myself), you will definitely enjoy this added feature. You've got every thing from the Wolverines running under the "M CLUB Supports You" Banner, to the Clemson Tigers touching Howard's Rock before running into the stadium, etc.

-Unique offenses. College football is innately different from its pro-counterpart because of the unique offenses the majority of schools play. This year, such offenses are highlighted. From the triple-option at Georgia Tech, to the no-huddle at OU, to the Pistol-set at UCLA, etc. It certainly gets boring running the Pro-set for every team, doesn't it?

-The entire interface of the game has been retooled and again, this is a huge breath of fresh air for loyal fans of the game who have to see the same things year in and year out.

Cons:

-The "Pay-to-play" recruiting features are STILL here and it's awfully annoying because they include the options among the other FREE features and I suppose sometimes I forget it's not free and end up clicking on it (sorry for the run on sentence). They call them "time-savers" but paying on top of the $60 + tax you pay already? At least with the Map add-ons for COD MW2, you play them every other game so you get the most use out of it. The features EA makes you pay for are just side features that would surely enhance my satisfaction were they included.

-At the end of the day, if your preference is for the most realistic football experience, you cannot look towards an NCAA game for it. I know I said this had great game play, but it's obvious that EA saves the best for Madden, as millions of more people would prefer the NFL. Which makes one wonder how good Madden 11 will be...

-Same old commentary...... wish they would completely revamp that.

-Each team still only has one unique (if at all) TD celebration. It would be nice for each team to have multiple interpretations of their respective celebrations (i.e. V for Victory/USC, the Gator Chomp, etc.)

-I've noticed that there is A LOT of lag when scrolling through options in dynasty mode. I don't know if everyone else out there is going through the same problems.. my PS3 is not even a year old yet and it's the slim line one so I doubt its my system.

-More to come?? After a few days of playing, I haven't seen anything else yet. And I will update as I see them!

THANKS FOR READING!

I haven't owned an NCAA Football game since probably back on the PS2, but I had read really good reviews about this game. I've played a couple weeks now and thought I'd share some of the things that I liked:

First off, the graphics are really nice. Very sleek and clean. The gameplay is fast and easy to pick up, especially if you're used to playing Madden. The time it takes to play a full game on the default settings seems pretty decent for me (ie, it won't take you an hour to knock out a game).

Next I love the customization ability on this game. You can create your own College by using EA's Teambuilder website. Pick out your stadium, pick out your uniforms (at least 50 choices there), pick out your colors, upload your own log. I love that level of customization and hope that will be a feature that EA uses in all of their sports games going forward (especially FIFA).

I like that you can also customize your players easily online in the Teambuilder site instead of using the controller. Juice up their stats. Change them all to Freshman if you like. Change their names manually or have them randomly created. If it's a common name, the announcers will pronounce it during the game commentary too.

Then you can swap your made-up school with another existing school, and start a Dynasty that goes year after year (not sure how far out it runs). You can customize your non-conference games to adjust your strength of schedule. So I must say I really love that piece of the game.

The recruiting in the Dynasty mode is a bit manually intensive though. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I personally kind of like it, but if you were only interested in the actual gameplaying of the dynasty, then you may be upset at how much time it requires.

Having played a couple seasons tweaking my strategy, it does require some devotion. You can't really auto-simulate it, or at least, not if you want a good freshman recruiting class. I turned off all of the Helper Options, which helps give you more control. I also limited myself to about 20 prospects, as this helps keep the board from being uncluttered. I preferably only add guys who have you in their Top 3 initially. I also found that if you wait around until mid-season, you can start recruiting some Junior-College (JUCO) transfers since they seem to wait until longer in the year to sign.

The recruiting piece almost feels like a Role-Playing-Game (RPG). You check back each week to see if you've moved up on their list, or you get upset if they committed to someone else after you wasted hours of recruiting time on them. If you want to do a good job at it, it'll probably take as long each week in recruiting as it does to play the week's given game. I haven't tried online dynasty against others yet.

Overall though, I think NCAA Football 11 is a really good football game. I agree with a previous reviewer who said that now NCAA Football doesn't feel like Madden's poor, red-headed step-child.

First let me say that after taking a long hiatus from EA football games, I recently poked my head in to see what's happening behind its developmental door and frankly, I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. It's surprising since I've bashed the heck out of the EA football games in the past. So here's me giving credit where credit is due. EA is clearly working hard on making this game great.

Now with that being said, the gameplay has its wonderful moments as well as truly awful moments. The overall pacing of the game feels spot on and adds to the drama. However, the crowd animations in the background during Touch Downs look extremely cheap and sadly begins the first step in taking you out of being "in the game".

I enjoy a lot of the animations when players are hit or interacting with each other, it's not far from perfect but it's serviceable and adds to the overall excitement. However there's tons of clipping going on especially during some of the end zones celebrations where the player clips straight through walls and into the crowd. Yet another step in taking you out of the drama.

The gameplay during my brief time in the single player felt like the best video game football to date and shows me that EA is heading in the right direction, but once taking the gameplay online the game begins to fall apart. I would run into glitches that literally cost me games. One game it actually worked in my favor where some guy was stuck in the hand off animation and dropped back about 15 yards all the way to the back of the endzone ultimately giving me a safety. That's once again another step in taking you out of all the wonderful drama. I guess in this case the game is literally backtracking in developments...

Now here's my biggest critique. The level of complexity in controlling your team has become mind numbing. The game clearly has been catering to the long time loyalists of the game and because of it those gamers are reaping the rewards. Here's the thing, I've played the 2K games as well as previous Madden games (rentals mind you) and the controls were so much more fluid and responsive in NFL2K that I was able to reassign every DB to the opposite side of the field and still have time to manually go man coverage in a zone coverage package before the ball was hiked. It was that fast.

I think the game is headed in the right direction, but I'm sure the same was said for the previous six games since any hint of any competition.

I purchased this game and all was well for the first month.Out of the box it was probably the best NCAA game I can Remember since 2004-2005. Very consistant (No wicked rubberband EA is known for), fairly realistic and competitive on All American Difficulty. Well, EA Decided that this year they are going to do LTPs (Live tuning package)to "fix" parts of the game that they notice are out of tune.Well as this idea sounds good on paper As of Aug 11 patch 2 was released and well what this does is seemingly takes a great game and makes it a toss up between this and NCAA 2007 current gen (Consensus worst edition ever). Now pretty much the game cheats in order to make it a close game, if you are losing you will avg 20 yards per carry and catch every pass, If you are losing you will get the run stuffed and you will miss wide open passes. This is not rubberband ai this is more like a see-saw AI. It is not that it is harder it is much less enjoyable when I know that 1st down I need to run, then on second I need to call run and audible to play action to get 15 yards. The AI is still easy to exploit but the game is now soo broken you are limited to what plays you can pick. I would say wait to see if they fix the before you purchase it , because this game is not fun as it stands. I will update this and give a better score if they fix this. If this is how they leave off I will be pretty much done with EA.

First off, I'm an avid player and fan of Rock Band and a founding member of the band Big Ole' Mollusk (Check the Xbox 360 leaderboards!). It's one of the greatest games ever made. I was stoked to get these skins to set the various guitars we play with apart from one another. I bought the tiger design for myself and the octopus one for my brother-in-law. The designs are cool, and I got these instead of an off brand because they fit the art found in the game itself, and I though that was pretty cool. However, these are just flat out substandard.

When we got them, I was disappointed by what they were--stickers. I thought they'd be plastic static stickers that could come off and be swapped out, but they are flat out stickers. You put them on and that's pretty much it. You've got a big ole' sticker on your guitar. (You could go buy some stickers and trick your guitar out with those and be much happier). Maybe they should market them as Rock Band stickers, not rock band skins.

The real reason not to EVER, EVER, EVER buy these is, however, is the cheap quality. We put them on played for about four hours. The next time we played, we put in about two more hours, and I noticed that the edges had started to turn white. In less than SIX hours, they colors started to rub off of these stickers!!!! Did they not think that your hand and arm would be rubbing against these for hours? Did they even quality test these pieces of junk? (On a side note, the sticker of an 8 Ball that my nephew put on his guitar has been there for months and has held up perfectly, even thought it's just a generic kid's sticker.)

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy these skins! Both of our stickers have faded after two playing sessions.

If you want to trick out your rock band guitar, I'd suggest either getting your own stickers since that's all these pieces of garbage are, or getting the plastic skins sold by AMR Racing here on Amazon (I haven't tried them yet, but they have to be better than these things!!!).

Ultimately, I wasted 20 bucks buying two of these and pretty much ruined the face of my guitar with whited out, cheap stickers. I'll have to scrape them off and use some Goo Gone to get rid of the last vestiges of this colossal waste of 20 bucks. Thanks for nothing MTV games. Great game, horrible stickers.

The octopus sticker has been on my guitar for over a month now. Its design looks great, and gives your guitar a totally awesome custom look and makes it stand out when playing amongst friends. It shows no signs or wear and tear thusfar and was a great buy for only dollars.

A few months ago I found this cool design (Octopus) on Amazon for sale and I wanted to buy it for my Rock Band guitar. I knew they were stickers, the "skins" word didn't confuse me and from the photo it looked like a sticker.

After I got it in the mail I immediately went to put it on my rock band guitar. The material of the sticker is pretty thick and made of some kind of plastic or something, the material of the sticker is really smooth.

Anyway, I just peeled it off and placed it as best I could on the guitar. I think the first time I didn't do so good, so I was able to remove the sticker and re-apply it. (I also think on the box/slip it came in, it said it was removable or something).

One little problem was there were some air bubbles in some places. I was able to remove the sticker and slowly put it back on, smoothing out the bubbles. There were still a couple, but they are hardly noticable.

I haven't noticed any wear on the design from me or anyone else playing the guitar, and I play often and it's been a few months.

So, I am enjoying this awesome design on my Rock Band guitar and when Rock Band 2 special edition comes out, if there isn't a design already on the body of the guitar, I will for sure buy the "Tiger" skin for it.

Will supplement to what other reviewer's have said. Bought this for my wife. I have Rock band. Never owned a SingStar title before. If you like Karaoke this is the game for you. Much more difficult than the Rock Band vocals part, especially rapping which is tough. Resolution of videos varies from artist to artist, depending on resolution on which it was recorded originally (thus older videos or indie bands will have lesser resolution videos). Game with bundle brings 30 songs from different genres. Each additional song on the online store is $. For those of you that are multilingual you can have access to some songs (limited still) in your language by switching languange. Right now the store has about 250 something songs (excluding the multilingual thing I said) with some known bands and some I have never heard off. Adding the PS Eye adds another dimension to the game. You can record audio only and video tracks and export them to a media stick. The online features are also very interesting. Quality of music is very good. Some people have complained of the volume of the vocal tracks, which I don't find so distracting. I seem to get more distracted by the videos (especially the Blink 182 video, which in some parts i just burst out laughing.) I liked the vocals for Rock Band more but I have only played Sing Star this twice. I think its a great party game provided your guests know some of the songs. I have heard that they will bring some new songs every so often on the store. Rock Band owners: Very little overlap in the songs in Rock Band and Sing Star!

Sony makes you buy their microphones to play SingStar -you cannot just take your Rock Band microphone and plug it into your PS2 or PS3. So if this is the first version of SingStar you are buying, make sure to get the one with microphones!

Otherwise the game is a lot of fun. The music selection feels like it contains more current music than Rock Band, and the songs that are from back in the day have a different feel. But there are tons to choose from online as well.

This new version of Singstar for PS3 has many features that make it superior to its predecessors, such as the online capabilities, the wide range of competition modes, and the high definition videos.

Now we can create videos using the PS Eye and then post them online. It is also great fun to be able to watch the myriad of videos available from other users, which range from talented to crazy over the top. There is one big problem with the online capabilities though, and that is the reason why, even though the game is great, it gets only four stars: you cannot compete against others online! The other minor issue has to do with the limited length of the videos as well as the limited amount each player can create.

This is definitely a party game, and it is clear that the creators recognized this and provided a much wider range of battle modes. And the music is more varied in styles than before, catering to almost all tastes; by the way, I am not including the song list in this review because it is shown under the product description. For those that want a wider selection and do not mind spending some extra bucks, there is a humongous list of downloadable songs (200 at this point). On the other hand, those that have the microphones for any of the Singstar games for PS2 won't have to spend the extra money to buy the bundle, since the prior microphones work perfectly with this game; as a matter of fact, they look, and probably are, identical.

The bottom line is that those that like singing and want a game that is fun and can be shared by many cannot go wrong with this game. If they added the option of competing online, the game would be almost perfect.

If you like singing, this is probably the best product you can get on the PS3--it has the real songs and videos, the scoring system is relatively good, and it's fun. As a party game it's great too--but held back by the song selection.

While the game is great, the Singstore is far from impressive, especially when it comes to North American artists. Sony has been lethargic with regard to adding songs from the back catalog (there are a number of more popular songs in the PS3 discs), and the selection is much smaller than that of other regions like the UK.

What makes this more frustrating is that Sony, already a few years in the PS3's life, is still making PS2 discs with new content, while the PS3 version stays stagnant, which is where it suffers as a party game--since a great of the songs are unknown (like Natalia, who has 5 songs)--a lot of people don't know the words, which makes the game less fun, especially with things like pass the mic. To make the game work at a party you need artists and songs that are more ubiquitous like Madonna or Michael Jackson, which you can get on the PS2 discs.

If the PS2 discs didn't have more popular songs I'd give this game 5 stars, but the best Sony will do is a disc-swap, where you're stuck with songs you won't want, which is the opposite of the a-la-carte selection we are getting used to. Sony said they would update the store every two weeks, and, aside from the poor update selection (in the US), they often miss updates. If I didn't already own the game, I wouldn't bother buying it, as the Singstore is horrid, which is unfortunate because for the songs I do like, it's a great game.

The other issue people seem to have is the wireless mic problem; while it would be nice I don't really play enough for this to be that big a deal.

Want SingStar (Stand Alone) Discount?

I have to admit I have been a skeptic of the Singstar franchise. With game after game on the PS2 it didn't really anything I was ever interested in. Now with it's new life on the PS3 it is a whole other game. Singstar is without a doubt the best party game available right now on the PS3. It is also a prime example of how much fun community gaming can be.

From the minute you pop the disc in it's simple to navigate the menu. You esentially have three options. Play Singstar, view gallery, and online. I am going to cover each option so that you can understand how much fun this game is.

Playing Singstar gives you a choice of thirty songs to croon over. The thirty songs are a mix of pop, r&b, and rock. Sorry country fans, your not going to find any of your favorite songs on this disc. Although you only get 30 songs to chooose from there are well over 200 available on the Singstore. More on that later. Now with Singstar you can just have a solo performance or if you have your friends around there are plenty more options. You can actually have contests with up to eight people. The possibilities are really endless. With multiplayer you can either perform a duet or battle others. There are specific songs for duet although every song will let you perform a duet. With a battle you can take on others to try and get the highest score. With the performances they are scored on a scale of 0 to 10,000. There are also difficulty levels if you want more of a challenge. The object is rather simple: Sing at the same tone as the artists. As you sing you really have to make sure you can keep the same level as the musician. On easy it's rather simple to get a good score. Upping the difficulty level makes it that much more difficult. What makes the performances memorable is that you can record your vocals. Now if your voice is or isn't very good you can adjust microphone level. What makes Singstar magic is having a USB camera that is compatible with the PS3 or a PS Eye. The camera will record a 25 second video of you belting out your greatest. You can even take the artists voice out of the songs. Of course I wouldn't advise anyone to do this unless they have a good voice. Now the audio clips, videos, and even snapshots the camera will take go into your gallery.

Now the gallery is what stores your best or worst performances. From here you can let other people see your performance at home. The gallery will store numerous videos, audio clips, and pics. What makes the gallery truly a gallery is that you can upload any of these things online to the Singstar interface.

Online is what takes this game to the next level. The Singstore is what the PSN should be. Immediately you get to choose from over 200 more songs that are available in the store. Each song sells for $1.49 and comes with the video. Not a bad price for some good fun. The Singstore will update with songs every other week. SONY is promising 25 to 50 songs a month. The artists cover a wide array of music genres dating back to the 1960's to songs that have just been released. I have already found myself downloading numerous songs I enjoy. The new music will keep this game fresh for quite a few months if not years.

The most amazing feature is the Singstar Online feature. From the main menu you can set up your profile listing your favorite song and musician. You can also have a picture taken from your USB camera. From your profile you can also view messages people leave you and check your uploaded videos to see if people are giving you good scores. You can also access other players. Set up like Youtube you can watch players from all around the world perform their best. The interface allows you to watch videos that have just been uploaded. You can also check out featured performances for the week. These are the higher scoring songs. And lastly they have a hall of fame featuring the highest rated most viewed performances. You can score any performance from 1 to 5 stars and even leave comments to the performer. If you really like someones performance there is an easy way to access your friends list and mailbox and request a person to be on your friends list. I have seen some stellar performances and I have also seen your very creative performance. This is a definite incentive to try and make something interesting for everyone to see. All in all this is what I enjoy most about the game.

If I were to sum up Singstar I would say it's an experience everyone should try. It's fun, a lot of fun. It's a great break from other gaming experiences and it's a good way to invite people over to do some karoke. I think that most who enjoy to sing in the shower or car should purchase this game. Those who have enjoyed it on the PS2 should enjoy it even more on the PS3. Have fun and try to become a Singstar...
