EDIT IMPORTANT: in the time since I made a very positive initial review the add-on wheel has developed a problem. What I thought was just a loose collar screw (which can happen) causing the wheel to rock back and forth a little turned out to be an issue with the wheel itself. I confirmed the problem with TM tech support, and for sure its a problem with the wheel and not the base unit. Be advised.

(The problem specifically is: the male threaded part of the add on wheel may become slightly loose where it mates with the back of the wheel, because they are two separate parts. However they are held together, they came a little bit loose in my case.)

100% full disclosure: I actually bought 2 of these add on wheels from Mac Mall. The first one let out a loud 'crack' while I was using it, sounding like two pieces of plastic held together by adhesive suddenly let go. I saw no evidence of something broken but the wheel would afterward make small noises in use, and I didnt accept it. So I returned that one and received the second one, which is the one that developed the wobble (above). So why keep the 5 star rating?? Because the wheel is beautiful, otherwise, and mine may have just been oddballs.

.............

The wheel itself is the same diameter as the G25 and G27, which makes it extremely comfortable to use.

The paddle shifters are perfectly placed and sized, and they also use a non metal-to-metal stop; so the end of the shift is not a hard clank, but a bit deadened. Nice.

The construction seems identical to the larger GT wheel in terms of materials, etc.

The stock static paddles can be easily removed! Thrustmaster has instructions with pictures on their website. All it takes is a screwdriver and 5 minutes.

+ As many know, this wheel is one inch smaller in diameter than the stock GT wheel. This is great for open wheelers and adds a real responsiveness to the force feedback.

+ It's also a little heavier than the stock wheel. IMO this eliminates quite a bit of the "notchiness" of the stock wheel.

+ Shifters and button placement is a huge improvement over the stock wheel.

As with all Thrustmaster products I own, they had to skimp somewhere. This wheel does seem to squeak and creek for everyone. Here's what I've discovered: See the plastic housing where the buttons are all located? If you squeeze the top and bottom on that section, it'll make cheap plastic noises. The top and bottom housing for this has an incredibly tight fit. And when you're racing, this causes tension between the two and creates the cheap noises. It's mildly annoying, but I don't think it's going to lesson the lifespan of the actual wheel any (will edit if this changes in the future).

This wheel is just a bit smaller than the original T500rs wheel which i personally find a lot better, Also the paddles are no longer static and move with the wheel which makes driving cars with a sequential box 100x better.

Must have for T500RS owners.

The wheel works well and has the paddles on the wheel. Much easier to use than stock wheel included with the T500RS.

I've been using the stock wheels for 6 months and it has been working fine..

The shifters on this wheel are much more precise than the stock shifters; the extra buttons in more convenient locations are also fantastic. The wheel is made of the same materiel so still feels decent, but not amazing to hold. The slightly smaller diameter feels better when in a fast road car also. The the price, it's a really great addition.

This game is simply AMAZING!!!! It's the best Spuder-Man game and it's the best superhero game ever!!!! I know that some people disagree with this FACT because they think that arkham city is the best but just think about it for a second. This game looks great, graphics are awesome, gameplay is spectacular and voice acting is incredible !! Arkham city is great . Great Graphics, Gameplay voice acting ..... But it's pretty boring, silent and LONG!!!! I know spiderman is a short game but it's better than being insanely long like batman!! Ok I liked finding the riddles at first but it's got freaking boring after a while and I've had arkham city for 9 months and I still didn't find the freaking riddler. So I just went on YouTube and watched what happens when you find the riddler and defeating him and what not. I don't really like the free roaming because it's BORING. I did enjoy some parts of the story and the combat but it gets old and this is not just because batman is silent or dul or what ever it's the game problem too . The producers made the batman arkham city game pretty boring. One other big problem with batman arkham city is the achievements . I completed most of the achievements but I couldn't complete all because unfortunately I can't pay for every DLC to complete the achievements. I have to buy Robin,Knightwing,Harley Quins Revenge to complete the achievements . Batman arkham city is just not exciting and fun like spiderman. I know some parts of the amazing spiderman game gets repetitive but it's still not boring like batman and it's fun. And I know that the story is a little short but its better than not being able to complete the game because you get extemely bored. I also dis agree with the whole Beenox copied from batman arkham city blah blah blah. 1. Spiderman does stealth things in the cartoons and movies . But in games the only time spiderman did stealth things was in spiderman one and in shattered dimensions only as noir. That is why we are not used to doing stealth takedowns in spiderman games. 2 . The amazing spiderman didn't copy all the stealth take downs from batman . The stealth takedowns totally look like spiderman noir in shattered dimensions. I don't know If they copied the combat from arkham city or not but who cares it feels like spiderman . I love the web swinging and I like this cinematic web swinging better than the web attaching to buildings because this feels more real . I love the web rush too. This game is for casual gamers who like having fun and are a fan of spiderman like me. This game is good for people who are not a fan of spiderman too but perfect for those who are. I give this game a 10/10 for excellency. It's AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! :) :D

My husband and I love this game. It is great if you like to play the campaigns together. What I like is that you can start the game alone but if you have a friend that wants to join in you start at the same level, you do not have to reset the game! It is a must buy if you love to play with a friend at home. Right up there will Resistance (the first one). In addition, it is a fairly long game so you get your money's worth. The only thing is that this game is a little scary for the little ones so I would not recommend it for anyone under 13. Other than that enjoy!

Ok, let me get this out of the way, I have played both the 360 and PS3 version through the first couple of chapters. I don't see a difference, both versions look fantastic!! This is an absolutely beautiful game on either system, I purchased the PS 3 version because I am still, and always be a fan of the Dualshock controller, I guess you could call me a dualshock fanboy.

Ok some reviewers hammered home the comparisons to RE 4, and that's fair, apparently Capcom didn't want to stray from what worked for them and RE 4 was a runaway hit. I like that the game "feels" familiar but different at the same time. I played the demo a lot to get a handle on the controls, because we can all agree that they take a bit of adjustment from other 3rd person games. I know for the purity of the game Capcom decided to leave the run and gun aspect out of it, but I can't tell you how many times I wish I could pull a Gears of War tactic out of my a$$ during some of the more intense encounters, but after adjusting to the RE frame of mind I adapted quickly.

The story has enough cheese in it to keep me happy, I am perfectly happy with the story, my level of escapism with the game was just right, I don't need a life altering story to make me love a game.

I can't recommend this game enough, it is perfect for me in many ways. In my opinion it deserves my 5 Star rating.

add me for some co-op! I am trying to get more friends on PSN!

*EDIT*

I am adding that the inventory/cash system is ridiculous lol. You can literally farm levels for cash, ammo, weapons and treasures over and over and over...

I still love the game though, online co-op is amazing.

FOR THE FANS OF RESIDENT EVIL 4: This is about the best sequel to RE4 that you could hope for. The graphics are excellent. It has a lot of big guns and intense action, and it adds co-op play to the mix. The controls have been slightly enhanced, as this new installment mirrors some of the tweaks that games such as Gears of War and Dead Space have added to the template RE4 created back in 2005. However, you cannot move and shoot, and you may be a tinge disappointed with the fact that neither Leon or the Merchant return. If that's what you wanted to find out, you can stop reading now.

Are they gone? Good. Now it's just us in the room.

You guys remember Resident Evil. You remember the exploration, the emphasis on limited ammo and weaponry, the 3D characters against static backgrounds with jarring camera angles to heighten tension. You remember the scares, the jumps... the "Survival Horror". And if you remember RE4, then you remember that you've already had to kiss all that goodbye.

You also remember the storyline. You remember the evil, faceless Umbrella corporation. You remember battling with all of their insane Bio-Organic Weapons, monsters and zombies. You remember how each subsequent installment in the series was crescendoing to a final showdown with Umbrella, all while revealing more and more mysteries about the elusive company. You remember the ending of Code Veronica, which was set up as a lead-in to that aforementioned final confrontation with the next sequel. And you also remember that sequel was RE4, which flushed that whole entire plotline down the toilet in the very opening cut sequence. Let's recap.

RE:CV Ending/Chris Redfield: "It's payback time. We've got to destroy Umbrella. Now, let's finish this once and for all!" The jet shoots off into the sunset, the credits roll.

RE4 opening: Umbrella went bankrupt and was destroyed, here's something else.

Well, gee. That was pretty anti-climactic. So the whole climax you guys (I'm looking at you, Capcom) have been building towards this whole entire time has already happened? And it all happened off-screen? There seems to be a HUGE gap here. Pretty sloppy. I would go so far as to say that this opening cutscene is the biggest anti-climatic turdbomb in the history of gaming. And what's the deal with this cult and the mind-controlling parasites thing? Why is Leon being chased by a moving statue? WTF? The whole plot of this game doesn't seem to fit in with the overall flow of the storyline that's been established up until this point. So how's the game? Well, the game is good. Very good in fact. It's a great action game (emphasis on ACTION), but I'm still scratching my head as to why this game is entitled Resident Evil in the first place.

And so, then we were given "The Umbrella Chronicles" for the Wii, which was basically the half-baked answer we got to the gap between RE:CV and RE4, and it's not even part of the numbered series. And now, after four long years, we finally have RE5. So how is it?

Well guys, it's basically RE4 all over again with a fresh lick of paint and co-op. Even the Plaga-infected villagers, which return as the main enemies here, have the exact same animations that they did in RE4. Now, I have been following this game's development for a long time, and I don't think it should take four years just to make another linear, Go-from-Point(A)-to-Point(B)-and-kill-everything-in-sight, RE4-style game, but I guess I'm wrong. Remember when they said that there would be new enemies in this game? Not Plagas or zombies, but a whole new breed of the dead? What happened to that? What happened to their talk of that heat meter beside your health, that if not lowered with water, your character would start to hallucinate? It just feels like this game is too scared to try anything different from RE4, and I think that it is worse off for it. It just doesn't have an identity of its own, and as much as I've dogged on RE4 in this review, it was much more effective in its execution than RE5 here. There is the co-op, which is definitely how this game is meant to be played. Playing it with a buddy definitely enhances the experience, and will have the two of you strategizing over tactics. As far as the A.I. goes, I've seen a lot of people complaining about it, but I didn't really have any problems with it at all. Sheva DOES combine herbs and things, but yes, you will have to do most of the item management for both characters, which can prove to be quite the pain since the item management is in real-time, and you're often surrounded by enemies. You can also quick-select your weapons with the directional pad; a control mechanic lifted straight from Gears of War. Speaking of which...

The standard controls are going to be very confusing for newcomers. You'd think they'd add the ability to move while aiming and shooting. It's kind of awkward that the left analog just sticks and does nothing when you aim, and you have to switch over to the right analog to control your laser sight. It just feels awkward, like something's missing there. Because, well, something IS missing there. I find it baffling that Capcom has emulated the controls/enhancements from the action-heavy Gears of War, yet chose to leave out the most practical use of those controls. The reason that there is no run & gun, according to Capcom themselves, is because it racks up the tension that the series is known for, and that by adding run & gun, RE5 would be straying from its roots. Um... follow along with us, Capcom. This game isn't true to its roots at all. This game is not Survival Horror at all. There's no creepy atmosphere or anything. The whole game takes place outdoors in broad daylight. I didn't even see one door opening sequence. Instead there are a brief trivia lessons in the load times between doorways to the next segment of the level. This is an action game. It's even more action-oriented than RE4. So, Capcom, if Resident Evil is going to be an action game now, then it should BE an action game.

As for the storyline, right off the bat, it's better than RE4's. But that's not saying much. Chris Redfield is now with a new anti-Bioterrorism organization known as the B.S.A.A., which sends him to Africa to bust a bioweapons deal that's going down in the Kijuju region. It is here that he meets up with his partner for this assignment, Sheva Alamor. From there on, there are a lot of twists and blatantly obvious turns. A couple characters from the series past return, a few new ones are introduced, and most all of the original plot threads are brought to a close, culminating with the death of a certain prominent antagonist. The story was kind of up and down for me. In a lot of ways, it felt like a true sequel, notwithstanding all of the dumb crap from RE4 tacked on. I was thrilled when Umbrella was briefly re-introduced and explored, as well as the section where Chris and Sheva stumble upon an underground laboratory containing a familiar old B.O.W., which was great to see, and had me pining for the good ol' days of the series' past. As a hardcore fan, that section alone was worth the price tag for me. But a lot of the big reveals -such as Wesker and Spencer's true motives -felt very contrived and cliche. The ending also felt strangely anti-climactic, and by the time it was all over, I was still left with many unanswered questions. What did Wesker ever do with Sherry and Steve? What ever happened to Barry? Last I knew, according to the RE3 Epilogue, he was heading to Europe with Jill and Chris. I'd rather Capcom brought back more of those past characters as opposed to introducing more and more new ones. They just dropped all those plot threads. They could have at least given us something to wrap up those character arcs, like an Epilogue file or something like that.

Overall, I found Resident Evil 5 to be pretty mediocre. Sure, there's a lot of great features and tons of unlockables that give it a lot of replay value, but at the end of the day, this game is pretty forgettable. The gameplay was solid four years ago, but it's 2009 now. The things that were exciting about RE4 then aren't so exciting now. Action games like this have evolved with stuff like Gears of War and Dead Space, leaving RE5's dated gameplay in the dust. It just feels stale. I never got bored like this with the classic Resident Evil games. I still don't understand why people dogged on its controls so much. It takes you, like, ten minutes tops to get accustomed to the "tank"-style controls, and then they're a breeze. They become second nature to you. They never should have changed the formula. However, I also realize that there's a new fanbase now; a new generation of gamers that don't have any patience for the classic titles. The thing is, with a lot of these kids now... the PS2 was, like, their first system. And these PS3s and 360s are like their Super Nintendos. Capcom is taking the series into a new direction for a new fanbase, and for the oldschool RE fans, you can consider RE5 here to be the last hurrah. In other words, this is the de facto ending of the series that wraps up the original storyline before even more fundamental changes are made. Well, it's been fun.

R.I.P.

RESIDENT EVIL

(1996-2009)

UPDATE (2/28/10)

LOST IN NIGHTMARES DLC PACK: Does Capcom read Amazon.com reviews...? It seems as though every cry from the oldschool fans has been addressed in some manner with this tasty new (though very short) little downloadable scenario, which covers a scene that was depicted as a flashback in the original game. It features Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine infiltrating the estate of the infamous Ozwell E. Spencer the Umbrella Corporation's founder. To me, this feels like the game that RE5 should have been. To start things off, this scenario features a nighttime setting, and actually has some atmosphere going for it that captures that classic Resident Evil feel. In fact, it's almost identical to the original mansion from RE1 and you will have to solve some similar puzzles (if you wanna call them that -the puzzles are all pretty much mindless fodder). Also, none of that purchasing or upgrading weapons business is to be found here. You start off with a handgun, and just use what little else you happen to find on-site. Ammo is very limited on the higher difficulties. There's also another section further in when you lose ALL of your weapons, and have to resort to using traps instead. This particular section can get pretty tense. The only minor gripes I have are that it's too short, and I could have used some more enemy variety (like Hunters). You really only fight one particular type of enemy, and he's basically the Executioner with a new paint job. But for five bucks, it doesn't lose too much points for this, and it's really a love letter to the long-time fans. This scenario is such a throwback to the original that it even goes to the point of being nonsensical. For instance, you will find the 'Keeper's Diary' from RE1 here, even though that document should have been destroyed long ago along with the original mansion, AND the rest of Raccoon City for that matter. I remember reading another review here on Amazon entitled, "4 / / Itchy Tasty... is gone". It's like they threw that thing in there just for that guy. I mentioned missing the fixed backgrounds, and there's an easter egg that allows you to play with fixed backgrounds in the mansion section (though trying to battle enemies in this mode is nearly impossible now with the RE4/5 precision-aiming setup). I mentioned the absence of Barry in my original review, and while they didn't tie up his character arch or anything, they did throw him into the new "Mercenaries Reunion" mode, along with Rebecca Chambers. I would have liked to have seen them in the actual game, but either way, it's nice to see them again. Speaking of the Merc Reunion mode, though, it's pretty lame that you can't pair the new Reunion characters up with the characters from the original Mercenaries mode. It's its own secluded thing. Anyway, I probably won't be reviewing the "Desperate Escape" DLC, but I felt compelled to speak on this new Lost in Nightmares chapter, which I rate

4 STARS out of 5.

Why couldn't the rest of RE5 have been more like this?

Read Best Reviews of Resident Evil 5 Here

RE5 feels very much like RE4 with a new backdrop and forced co-op. In fact, that is almost exactly what it is, however it is about half as long as its predecessor. There is more stuff to unlock and the realtime inventory system is both nice and infuriating at the same time. The fact that an egg now takes up as much space as rocket launcher is annoying and the fact that melee/bullet proof vest take up inventory slots is also befuddling.

That said, it is fun to actually play and the game is easy enough for most people to get into right away (after readjusting themselves to the control scheme that now feels outdated). I give it a 4 out of 5.

Want Resident Evil 5 Discount?

This game had a lot of potential but it fell way short of what i could have been.

First of let me say that the AI is Terrible! At Least in regards to Sheva. She is the stupidest AI character i have ever had to deal with. There was a part in the game when her commander says to Chris that she is a very skilled soldier and I laughed so hard when he said that. She always shoots first and removes the element of supprise you could sometimes have. Also When she shoots she doesn't stop until until she's totally out of ammo. She uses herbs and health spray as soon as i give it to her too.

I want to comment about how you can't mix herbs in her inventory either. You have to move them into your inventory to do it. And given the lack of inventory space(9 slots each) it's really a problem. Did i mention that the body armor you can buy takes up an inventory slot? No? Well it does.

The set up of the levels is in chapters like the last one only you can go back to any one at any given time which mean you can farm the levels for ammo and treasures. I found myself doing this every few chapters because I was low on ammo( Thanks Sheva!). Theres no combining treasure like in 4 WTF???

There one more thing that really pissed me off about this and thats the fact that you can't us a herb or health spray when its on the ground. Like if your about to pick it up but want to use it right away you need to have a free slot open in your inventory to do so. In Resident evil 4 you could just use it without having to pick it up.

The ending also wasn't very exciting, at least in my opinion but i'm not going to spoil it for you.

The reason i gave it 4 stars for fun is becasue of the mercenaries mini game which is awsome. This is probably the only "fun" i had with this game and you know why? No stupid Sheva using all my ammo! Too bad you have to BEAT the game to get it! The no pausing to switch weapons in the inventry adds a level of urgency to it too. If you really have to have this game I would suggest rushing through the story to get to the MERCENARIES!!!

And for you people that are going to say I should play it with a friend or "why don't you get some friends" I didn't want to play it with a friend because it's a survival horror game if i play it with a friend it kind of of ruins that. Not that Capcom didn't do most of that for me already.

If you waited a while and haven't yet bought The Force Unleashed, well consider yourself lucky and pick up this addition. It's a lot more addictive and fun. I own both versions. I had The Force Unleashed for Xbox 360, and I bought this Force Unleashed Ulitmate Sith for PS3, as well as owning The Force Unleashed for PSP (what can I say I own all gaming consoles). This adds three levels to the original game that to me I enjoy more than some of the games regular levels, this game is made to answer the "what if" question; like can you imagine Luke Skywalker becoming the apprentice to Starkiller (who killed his father Vader)?

Now the Sith Edition for Xbox 360 contains 2 disks, the first is just the regular game that's been out for a little over a year, with a bonus disk featuring the 3 new levels. On the PS3 version you get one disk that contains everything. I also wanted to clear this up, you don't get 10 collector cards, you get one (of either 10 different) card and a book that shows you the other. It's nice thou, it's foil stamped, etc. And what I think is really nice, is the case this game is in, it's not plastic it's a tin case. Makes for a dramatic look. Certainly a nice christmas gift for any Star Wars fan, even if they already own the Original Force Unleashed as I did.

This is just the game with all the DLC now included on the disc. They didn't even change the menus or anything to reflect the "Special Edition"-ness (yes, that's right, the loading times between menus are still there, even after the 5-gig install). No bug fixes, backwards compatibility, anything. Your old saves don't work on here if you have any and the bonus missions are very short, even the exclusive one. The trophies are a little buggy too, because apparently kills in the bonus levels don't count toward some trophies (I counted). The non-canon storyline is interesting enough, but it still feels incomplete, even with the addition of the Hoth DLC. If you were going to buy all of the DLC, this costs about the same, and if you haven't played the game yet, this is the edition to buy, but overall there's not a ton of reason to buy it if you've played the game. It comes with ten collector's cards (and one out of ten foil cards, are you supposed to buy the game ten times or what?) and the exact same manual from the first game.

Buy Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition Now

I originally purchased The Force Unleashed shortly after its initial release, and was rather disappointed with it. The story was alright, but there were several crippling glitches and gameplay issues with the game that tarnished the overall experience. I later sold it on eBay.

One year later, I heard about the Ultimate Sith Edition and figured I'd give it a shot. A much better experience. I didn't encounter any of the glitches that were in the original version, the gameplay was more polished, and the addition of Trophies was a bonus. I would give the game an A overall.

The DLC is somewhat disappointing. There are three packs, the Tatooine and Jedi Temple packs (previously released) and a new, exclusive Hoth level.

The problem with all three packs is that they're too short to be meaningful. 35 minutes for the Temple, 25 for Tatooine, and 20 for Hoth. And, unfortunately, the gameplay issues that plagued the original release of the game returned. This is why the entire game gets only 4 stars.

But don't let subpar DLC prevent you from purchasing this game. It's worth the 40 dollars by itself, and the steel case is a nice addition.

When I found out, there was a special edition, I was really happy, I bought the regular edition when it came out on September 2008, a great game I must say but unfortunately it had a lot of glitches, (see my past review on the regular edition) but still I wanted this game. After playing for a little while, here are the things I like and also the ones I didn't like:

The good:

* Metal case

* All downloadable content now it is included and it is for "free".

* A collectible card.

* Art book.

* Price.

* Trophies are now available for this version.

* Exclusive level for the Sith edition.

As for me, the game seems to load a little bit faster in comparison with the regular version.

The Bad:

* On Amazon's product description, there's no info that it said just one collectable card it's included, too bad.

* It would it be cool if there were a soundtrack included for this edition.

* For people who already bought the two extra screens, the skin characters, they wasted their money because all content it is included.

* Too bad the special edition took over a year to be release.

* Your previous save data and all the hours you invested in playing the regular edition, now are useless because the save data is not compatible with the special edition, as for me A HUGE FAIL from Lucas Art studio.

The glitch:

* On some stages the character can float LOL, especially if the character needs to climb to get a holocron and then if you let him fall (a small fall not enough to kill him) on some stages the star killer will flow. The one I recall right now was in Felucia (level 3), when I saw it.

* This is the game with most glitches I've ever played on PS3 (actually the only one with glitches I own).

If you don't mind to re-play the game one more time, I would advise you to sell you regular version and buy this one, for all of their extras and the exclusive screen for this edition, you won't regret it.

Cheers.

Game play is really fun but the graphics aren't up to par. The extra levels are nice but you can't carry on your stats to them. Another bad thing about the extra levels the difficulty isn't stackable. So if you beat it on hard you still have to go back and beat it on easy for the achievement. I think they should have connected the extra levels and spaced out this short game. I beat the game on medium in 8 hours 55 minutes not including the extra levels and I died a lot, so I'm sure I could beat this in 5 hours or less on an easier difficulty.

With all the negatives said, this game is still a great buy. I love the metal case and the collectors card it comes with is also pretty cool. I got the Darth Maul card. I'm hoping to get a Platinum Trophy on this game but the achievements are pretty hard. I hope my review answered some of your questions. Awful...this is worse than duke nukem forever. The marketing campaign and advertising lead-up only made it worse...I am a huge Aliens fan and found myself obligated to finish the game only because I spent 60 bucks on this turd. The liberties taken with the existing movie plot are weak and lack continuity, the game is a sub-par 1st person shooter, and the graphics are late ps2 quality. The sound is spot on, but that is the only redeeming feature of the game. The multiplayer mode is supposed to be decent, but I was so disgusted with the story mode I didn't even bother. I grew up adoring this franchise and that may have raised my expectations too high but even the Aliens license isn't enough for me to overlook the steaming pile of poo that has been in the works since 2006. SNES Alien 3, the arcade Aliens, AvP for the pc and the 2010 ps3 AvP are all better titles. I am a sucker because I plunked down the dough for this travesty, so please learn from my mistake!!!

I got the game yesterday 2/12 and it was the collectors edition

which comes with loads of goodies that really are not worth 100 bucks

the game itself is flawed with Lag in MP along with weird pop in

and texture issues, framerate drops.

you must be asking "Then why did you give it three stars?"

the Multiplayer has potential to be excellent that is if

a whole lot of patching takes place since we all know it looks

pretty below par of the games of this generation.

right now as it stands I'd say wait a few months and

let the game get patches and fixes. after patching

it might be a better game but as of this writing I can only

recommend this to the most hardcore fans.

another problem with MP is the very long lobby matchmaking times.

sometimes you get a game in 1-2 minutes other times you're waiting

TEN minutes for it to stop "Searching".

I expected so much more from Sega and Gearbox.

there's a nice selection of weapons ranging from the flamethrower, Pulse rifle

and an assortment of other iconic film weapons.

there's also legendary weapons that are a nice touch with higher stats

then the regular versions of the weapons. the phased pulse rifle is neat

but far too slow to fire. the ball breakers are cool though.

the skins were not really that nifty and the firing range is just ok.

loads of customization for the MP and both for xeno's and humans

as well as online weapons. you can add sights, underslung attachments,

and other options. you also get skill upgrades as both sides.

the game really shines in spots only to be ruined by bugs and glitches.

lag in the MP helps to ruin the best part of the game and while they

already released another patch I didn't see much difference.

I really wanted this to be the Alien game I love, and would play forever...

sadly it's not. perhaps in six months when fully patched movement

will be better and not so sluggish, perhaps more maps (two is not enough for MP)

and bug fixes, perhaps then this Might be worth picking up if you're

a hardcore alien fan (like me) otherwise rent before buying.

as for the Collectors Edition items:

the Phased Pulse Rifle fires slow and has to charge first

this can easily mean death against a xeno.

the pulse rifle flamethrower combo is nice but so bulky

that it obscures almost the entire right side of the screen

and that's a little unacceptable. The Ball Busters are

a mine of sorts and while cool when they work it's rare

that xeno will actually walk near it. the extra skins are about

as generic as could be and were not worth tossing in.

the firing range while helpful, proves fairly useless after a few MP matches.

the patches and paperwork is very detailed that this package comes with

such as the certificate, sulaco schematic is very detailed and looks like a true blueprint and the iron on patches are nicely embroidered.

the poly resin statue is well detailed but the alien figure is loose in mine

and it just seems a little underwhelming. for 100 bucks pass on the collectors edition unless you absolutely Must have the Power Loader.

Driving the power loader on the other hand is dull and rather glitchy

which is a sad thing to see in such an iconic moment.

the sound effects of the xenos and weapons are top notch

I only wish the voice acting were better considering all the stars

they dug up for this game. it had so much potential and

yet again it was wasted (unless patches redeem the game somehow)

it's a shame the writers didn't take more time on the story

so they could have finally answered all those Aliens film questions

fans always wanted answered.

Multiplayer modes:

Team Deathmatch: pretty standard xenos vs marines 2 rounds 5 min each.

one round as marines the other as xenos 6 vs 6

Extermination: marines run to points on the map to destroy alien eggs.

aliens try to kill marines.you have to stand in the marked point for fifteen seconds

and this can be Very Hard to do. still a farrly redeeming mode. 5 vs 5

Survivor mode: 2 teams as per the other modes but 4 on 4 marines must survive the time limit. the player cannot

respawn and is gone once dead, ammo is limited too. this mode was

fairly dull to be honest go for team deathmatch over this one.

Escape Mode: the Big mode here as it's by far the most fun of them all.

marines try to escape and complete objectives while fighting off xenos.

it can get tense at times. the better the marines work together

the easier it is to kill off the xenos. the xenos lose if the marines escape,

or after fifteen minutes scores get tallied and a winner is declared. 4 vs 4

Graphics: 2 of 5 stars got some environments right, the rest is ugly.

Sound: pretty spot on and rather Epic 5 stars!

Gameplay: after some severe patching it might get better as of now it's 2 stars.

Fun: the Singleplayer is flawed but loads of fan service and easter eggs

the Multiplayer has all the potential to be great 3 stars

Overall: I'd advise a wait on this game until they add a whole lot

more patches and polish as of now it's long lobby times,

bad framerates, lag, texture issues and pop in, not really a complete game

wait until the price drops and most issues are fixed.

I can only recommend a rental at best

the game is a Three Star Game at best (as of this writing)

I was very excited to play this and I even bought the season pass. sigh... I think I logged maybe 6-7 hours playing the whole thing and it was over before I even knew it, the ending is strange and not cathartic at all. The AI is inferior to what we usually have today, you can shoot your own guys while shooting at an alien, and your own marines step in your line of fire. The game itself looks ok, but just ok. Nothing groundbreaking. It is somewhat of a decent story. In the end, it feels more like an add-on that should have sold for $20. I suspect that's how much it will be by summer. I have been playing Dead Space 3 at the same time, now that is a game that meets current 2013 expectations. I know it's not really to compare but they did come out within a week of each other.

A brief history lesson: If you do not know what happened to this game it was a disaster. Basically gearbox software about two years ago started showing some demos of this game that they were working on. And those demos looked amazing I mean fans of the Alien series were blown away. I will link below a YouTube video where you can see a comparison of the demo and the game that was released and it's a sad thing to see what this game became.

Search this video on YouTube: 6lGXDM3LGnk

Now as a game it's kind of a mess the graphics are not that great on console or PC and is really just an average first-person shooter. But if your Aliens fan and you long to go back to LV-426 that it might be worth your hard-earned cash to do so. It's nice to hold the M40-1A pulse rifle and gun down Xenomorphs like a complete bad ass. And it does build on the alien mythos and is an extension of Aliens and acknowledges some of the events of Alien 3 (which if you're an Aliens fan could be good or bad in your opinion if you are an Aliens fan you should watch Alien 3 special edition it is a lot better than the theatrical cut). I would personally wait until this game pits about $20 maybe even $10 (and trust me by the way it was reviewed and the scores and got it won't take long to reach that price point) then I think it might be worth jumping in if you're just sort of a fan of the series.

I would like to note that the multiplayer is kind of cool and it's better than it's ever been in any previous games. But the problem you'll have is that since everybody hates the game multiplayer isn't that have a really large population for very long. I will update this review in the future letting you know about how the multiplayer matchmaking is working.

All in all I would only recommend this game if you're a hard-core fan of the series/movies and one a little bit more of the story arc. But be warned if you're just a so-so fan of the series there are a lot better purchases for games out there.

I just hope someday in the future gearbox releases the aliens demo that they showed because that's the game we all deserved and the game that would've put right all the countless alien games that have totally sucked. Anyway thanks for reading I hope you enjoyed.

Please take all the negative reviews with a grain of kosher salt...These are no doubt written by hardcore FPS shooter addicts who have been playing these since they were born...I, am a bit older, was around in the Atari days, and have been a CASUAL gamer ever since. I am also a hardcore Aliens fan. This game looks and sounds like Aliens, no question about it. If you into the aesthetic and overall experience of that universe, and want a fully realized modern-looking (maybe not state of the art) Aliens game in the mold of Black Ops and MW3, then this should be more than sufficient to satisfy...IF, on the other hand, you live, eat, sleep, and breath these games and win them in one-weekend, red-bull fueled, multiplayer marathons, then this is probably not worth your money. Chances are if you are the latter, you were probably just born when Aliens came out in '86, so nostalgia wont be a draw, anyhow. Since I WAS around, and nostalgia for the classic film IS a factor, and also given that I am a CASUAL gamer, I like it JUST FINE, AND I AM SATISFIED AND HAVING FUN WITH IT. IT IS NOT THAT BAD AT ALL.

I purchased 2 of these PS3 controller skins. A few weeks ago I had seen a red PS3 controller at my local electronics store. I really wanted one but I figured I could find one a lot cheaper online. They were a little less online but only like 5 bucks. In my search results these skins had shown up. So I clicked on them and I thought they looked kinda cool and they were like $5 each plus they were fire red and installation looked simple enough. (It was a breeze! 1 min. install) Now that they are on my controllers I love the way they look and they should keep me content for a little while longer. I highly recommend this product to any PS3 gamer who is looking to add a little flash to their controller!

I could already predict future reviews of this game. Subpar graphics, no story, etc. etc. Both of those are true, but personally I've never been much of a fan of any of the stories in many video games. If you're like me, you'll enjoy this. If you've enjoyed lightgun games from the 80's at the arcade, you'll enjoy this. If you're a hardcore gamer who is in their teens or twenties, you'll probably have a lot of complaints. One thing I can say is that I was really impressed with the fun factor of this game. The environments are all different, the scenarios are all different. You fire different kinds of weapons which all feel fun to shoot with the Move controller vibrating. Let me warn you now though, if you don't have a Move, don't buy this game. Most likely you won't like it (Shattered Spear is on rails).

The Navigation ControllerYou'll use the navigation controller to throw grenades, reload, and to take cover. You can use the standard controller for this, but it feels a little awkward, although can be done. When I first started I used the Playstation Move controller along with the standard (Sixaxis) controller, and then tried to use the Navigation controller. Although it showed me using the navigation controller, the controller wasn't working. I had to restart the PS3 and start over using both controllers to restart the PS3. I think this was a flaw overlooked by the developers.

The GameEvery mission is different, and it doesn't get stale like I thought it would. You can go to the armory and carry an extra rifle, reload faster, or carry more grenades as you go through the levels. The checkpoints are fair, and don't make you go back too far if you die. When I first played I died a lot because I was just playing with the Move controller, and realized I couldn't take cover like I wanted to. Once I finally got the navigation controller working, I was very happy with the game and couldn't put the game down. The levels are somewhat short, but I personally prefer that since each mission is totally different which adds to the variety. The biggest reason I give this game a good rating is the variety, and how well it works with the Move and navigation controller.

Update: I just had to come back and warn future purchasers of this game, after attempting to play with the Sixaxis again. I'm warning you it's BAD. If you think you're getting a deal for 20 bucks, and you don't have the Move and Navigation controller you'll be sorely sorry. Otherwise, this game is really a gem for your Move collection. I really, really love it with the motion controls. It truly is one of the best Move shooter games to date.

Among a bunch of what looks like fluff reviews on here (and one real one), I can comment honestly that this game is worth the price for people who have the PS Move and Navigation controllers. I bought the Move to play some light gun style games (e.g. Time Crisis) and I took a chance on this game since there are very few actual reviews of it and most of those are people giving it 1/5 star reviews because they tried to play with the controller, which never works for any light gun/on-rails shooter game. Once you have your Move/Nav set up (and this thing plays really well with the Sharpshooter attachment since your default weapons tend to be assault rifles), you have a classic style on-rails shooter with some interesting innovations to the genre to set it apart from games like Area 51 and Time Crisis. One thing I liked was the cover mechanic was much more dynamic that Time Crisis, wherein if you take cover, you are not 100% safe from enemy fire since one or two enemies might still be able to do damage. You can duck left, right, or down and sometimes more than one. Cover is really important here since if you are exposed, you will take damage quickly. Taking cover correctly and popping out to fire a couple shots before going back into cover makes the combat feel more visceral and in line with a game like Gears of War than simply having shooting gallery style stages. There are also health kits, ammo, and even enemies that you won't see unless you are taking cover and checking all your side. Then there's another element of a finite amount for your rifle before you go to using your pistol backup. It makes you shoot carefully and conserve ammo modestly. There is an experience points improvement system where your rank goes up a la Call of Duty's multiplayer and you can unlock additional health, ammo, grenades, gun upgrades. Killing enemies gives XP and points can be maximized by getting critical hits (read: head shots), hitting enemies at long distance and using environmental elements for multi-kills. Missions are plentiful and this game takes about 90 minutes to beat in one shot on the Rookie setting (with an expanded Veteran mode upon completion offering extra added-on content missions). While many are on foot, you also are gunner in a helicopter, plane, tank, and bomber. Even the on foot mission keep it interesting with jumping on and off large gun turrets between duck and cover gameplay. One part that I didn't care for was the Move gesture based quick time events (QTE's). These were not very responsive and I failed many more than I passed. Some will make you repeat the other stage and others will impose a penalty like damage or being forced to fight off some more enemies before advancing. There is one frequently used gesture with the Move controller pointed straight up that I could not figure out for the life of me. These worked in games like Time Crisis 4 and House of the Dead 4 but they just weren't very well done here. So in summation, you have a very long (by on-rails shooter standards), varied, and unique game that deserves more love than other reviewers gave it (even by professional reviewers on Metacritic who seemed to dismiss it without using the Move controller). Yeah, the story is fluff and forgettable and the QTEs are terrible, but this is an awesome game that should be played if you are a fan of this genre.

Being a fan of UBI Soft's "Heroes of the Pacific," I knew that I had to try out Blazing Angels 2. My initial impression of the game was one of absolute amazement. The overall experience is one that is very fun, addicting, and highly original. The control scheme, a factor of extreme importance in flight games, is tight and very responsive. The graphics are crisp, smooth, and add another dimension to an already impressive game. There is nothing quite like engaging an entire squadron of Stukas over Red Square while witnessing the Soviet Army moving to engage the advancing Nazi army below you. You can actually see Russian civilians running for their lives--which makes you really feel like you are defending the city from the "Hun at the door." All of this occurs in a mostly silky smooth frame rate. The missions are quite challenging and require strategy as much skill to successfully complete. The missions are so intense that, on two separate occasions, I forgot to blink for long periods of time, which caused my contacts to dry out--resulting in me having to take them out. Though some have criticized the game for being too easy, this has not been the case in my experience. The missions are remarkably challenging and require you to experiment in your attempts to find the most efficient route to victory. You also have many optional quests to complete during a mission, like collecting all of the stunt icons or completing the mission in a record time. Flying in places as diverse as the brutal deserts of Egypt (with a nice view of the pyramids below you), to the arctic chaos of Moscow's Red Square, to the lush green mountains of China, the game does a nice job of transporting you to different locales and giving the player an impressive change of pace. Also, during each mission, you compete for prestige points, which you acquire by completing objectives and taking out enemy planes, tanks, buildings, etc. You can then use these points to purchase much needed upgrades for your planes. Prestige points, and the upgrades purchased with them, add a tremendous amount of depth to this fabulous game. As far as the story is concerned, I don't want to spoil it, but will tell you that the developers have obviously tried to make this game as different from the standard WWII game as possible. Though some have criticized the game for its lack of historical authenticity, I simply respond by saying that thought the game does not have any recreations of actual WWII air battles, that is not to say the missions available to the player are not based on actual historical events. Besides, the deliberately over-the-top missions may appeal to a new generation of gamers and inspire them to learn about the most important and influential conflict in human history: WWII. So, I don't buy into the historical criticism issue. The characters in the game are lively and many times offer the player a radically different interpretation of the same events. This is quite refreshing and gives a good dose of personality to the game. Bottomline: With 18 well-designed missions, immersive graphics, intense gameplay, over 50 real-life planes, and a storyline that (in my opinion) enhances the gaming experience, you would be hard-pressed to find a better WWII flight game on the market. NOTE: I haven't played the game online, nor do I plan to (I'm not an online gamer), so I have not reviewed that part of the game.

Disclaimer: I am not a gamer -this is all new to me -I'll be brief.

I was shocked to see only one other review. This game sets an impressive (artistic) mood with its muted colors, snow falling, islands, ice bergs, and the entire story line.

Its an arcade type game -not a flight simulator. The fact that you can hit certain targets to gain new ammo might (understandably) be a downer for the purist. For everyone else, this game is great fun and, for me at least, a significant challenge -enough to certainly keep my interest.

As the previous reviewer noted: The various missions and assignments add to the thrill and continual newness of the game. I have no regrets with my purchase. I'd be surprised if anyone else would either.

Buy Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions of WWII Now

There are so many WWII games out nowadays, and I've long realized they're just not for me. I don't like "gritty" action, and I'd rather not trivialize this historic conflict by glorifying it with a game. Flying games don't come out that often though, and since we don't seem to be getting any more starfighter-based Star Wars games, this seemed like the next best thing.

The first Blazing Angels was a lot like the Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe games -a bit of a "serious" simulator with an arcade heart. I was thrilled to learn that BA2 is more like another "dumbed-down" favorite, "Crimson Skies" on the XBOX. Or the Star Wars games Rogue Squadron, Rogue Leader, Rebel Strike, Starfighter, and Jedi Starfighter.

The graphics are beautiful, the controls are responsive, the online and offline cooperative and versus multiplayer is effective and fun, and the whole package is definitively worth the price of entry.

Now if only people would buy more games like this so this isn't such an endangered species of game on modern systems!

Read Best Reviews of Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions of WWII Here

Blazing Angels 2 is original and exciting. This newest version of the series has many additions that add to the overall experience, including the ability to purchase plane upgrades: weapons, armor, ammunition, engines, training, etc., with points earned during the campaign mode. The graphics are impressive. The prior version on Wii is no match for this edition. So much detail is included in the game on PS3, including ground troops racing to perform tasks, and realistic tanks firing on targets. It was easy to learn the controls and begin flight. There are, of course, some unrealistic aspects, such as the overwhelming number of enemy planes, many of which are unresponsive to being fired upon, but at the same time it adds to the fun of the game to take out several light bombers just putting along in a straight formation. It would also have been nice for the game to have preserved some of the major battles (Battle of Britian) in the campaign mode, but I suppose the "Secret Missions" title should have clued me in on the fact that those might be absent. If you enjoy aerial combat games, I highly recommend this title.

Pros:

1)Six axis controller is great fun and makes flying a more intuitive experience.

2)Game offers an interesting customization feature to slowly allow you to improve the technology of your aircraft.

Cons:

1)Very Formulaic. Character development is weak, and the story line is melodramatic(in a very bad way). Your wingmen are full of trite cliche phrases that detract from being able to be immersed in the game playing experience. Sounds like the writers to "Leave it to beaver" were recruited for story development(golly gee mister!)

2)Cut scenes are cheap. They are processed photographs of actors, very bad ones, I would add.

3)Levels are incredibly repetitive. Flying in Moscow feels like flying in Paris feels like flying in Japan.

If you are looking for an incredible flying experience, I don't think this is it. I wanted it to be, I was a huge fan of "Secret Weapons over Normandy.(PS2)" I am not going to finish the game. Why should I? I know exactly what is going to happen, and I am irritated by the naivety of the story.

First, if you're looking for a serious Formula 1 sim, please see F1 2012. This game is all about fast arcade action. If you've ever played Mario Kart, it is similar to that in that you have 'powerups' and on-track hazards to avoid. I'm always looking for a game that my girlfriend (who can't grasp the controls of most games) and I can play together over a 6-pack, and this is it. Also has 4-player split-screen if you have buddies over. If you aren't sure, there is a demo on PSN that you can check out.

As for negatives, I haven't really found any glaring issues yet. One thing that is frustrating is that it seems like the computer drivers get a huge boost on the last lap. You'll be leading for most of the race and always seem to come in 2nd or 3rd.

The driver interactions are hilarious, as well.

The cart racer is a very common sub-genre of video game at the moment, especially for established franchises with many available characters to pilot the vehicles. F1 Race Stars is not a serious Formula 1 racing game, but it does feature all of the proper licences, real life drivers, and advertising. It's a shame then that the game really isn't up to much.

I am so sick of racing games where the AI drivers are able to flawlessly navigate the courses regardless of difficulty. There are corners in this game which require you to pretty much come to a complete stop in order to get around them, but the other drivers can breeze around as if it's no problem...and there isn't even any drifting in this game. I am also sick of driving games that have your vehicle slow down to almost zero just because you ever-so-slightly touch the grass verge. As if that would happen in real life! The usual amount of power-ups and traps/weapons against other drivers are available in this game, as well as the boost pads on the ground. Now...about these boost pads. Most of them stretch around corners, and you activate them by hitting accelerate three times in a row. What can you NOT do when going around a corner? That's right...you can't accelerate. Which means you'll just crash into the rail guard and slow down while the rest of the drivers overtake you. The game just doesn't allow you to win. Who the hell thought that this was good programming? I understand that video games, sports games in particular, have to be challenging, but this is just sadism!

I'm annoyed that Ferrari license their elite brand name to games like this (which would be nothing but shovelware without the official brand names) when they should instead allow the release of the arcade originals of Outrun and Turbo Outrun to home consoles. I managed to unlock 24% of trophies for this game. There are 65 in total, 15 of which are from DLC. There is no way I'm sticking with it long enough to win more.

What a fun game, if you are a Formula 1 fan or just a racing game fan this has it all. Very much a spin-off of Mario Kart with its power ups and short cuts but a really good tactical racing game. Sure it gets frustrating to be leading and keep getting knocked back like some have said but if you get far enough in front that doesn't happen!! And the upside is you can be near last with only a few corners left to go and using the right power up the right way you can snatch 2nd or 3rd (1st if you are really lucky).

For anyone to give even the slightest negative review lighten up, its a game, not life or death. ENJOY it for what its worth.

A confession from me, first. I rather enjoyed F1 2010, and liked the experience despite some very sizable flaws and a borderline sense of being underwhelmed. That said, F1 2011 improves upon it in every measurable way. As a 'sequel', it far surpasses. Still 12 teams, 19 tracks, same top speeds of nearly 220mph, but the impact on the senses is much more enjoyable.

Some of this has to do with the sport itself-The rules in F1 itself have changed significantly this year, with 2 particular elements that a new player might well think was added just for the video game and could never really exist on the cars! Whereas the previous iteration was mostly "point and drive", this year we welcome 2 odd acronyms... names aren't important, but what is noteworthy is that they're both used as enhancements to the car that the player has control over. "KERS" is a small power boost allowed a certain amount per lap, and "DRS" allows higher speeds in a straight line. Sneaky, yes? Well, they've made the races of the real sport much more exciting, and it's great to see it reflected in the game.

The in-car HUD has gone through a total overhaul and is now very slick . Split times are always up and they've been color coded the same way the official F1 timing system uses them so that they're visually distinct. The pop-up info screen for tyres and damage has an awesome new tab-a short list giving you vitals such as when you expect to pit next, and expected exit position back on the track if you were to stop now. Since the sport requires players to change tyres in all races at least once, it saves a whole ton of thinking and lets anyone understand what the "big picture" for the race is. In the real sport, entire crews on the pit wall try to think this out to best help their position, so this is a godsend to have handed to you.

Sound like a bit much? You'll be glad to know that in the game's career mode, players are slowly shown more and more features so it's easy to learn each bit of the car. For example... didn't know that you have 4 types adding up to 17 sets of tyres for each race weekend? At career start on lower difficulty it's left out. AI seems to have an overhaul from last year-the drivers are smarter (less likely to run into you), difficulty is much more linear, career objectives are completely reasonable and are fulfilling to accomplish.

Graphics and sound are quite unchanged, but this isn't all bad. The Ego graphics engine is starting to show its age yet gets the job done. For unknown reasons, rain effects look less realistic, but I'll call it even for the import of each car's very unique exhaust note.

The main thing that holds back F1 2011 and I guess the series on the whole now is a lack of explanation to the player about all the specific (and often unconventional) rules the sport has and all the mechanical bits one can adjust. At the same time, it's not a high enough level of detail to please true simulator fans. The "quick tune" feature is abysmal even for racing against low difficulty AI, and unless you know the ins and outs of tuning from other racing games, you'll be looking up some terms. Actually, a "complaint" I had from last year is back-it's a game where reading the instruction manual is practically required, and without it even some of the basic game vocabulary will sound like gibberish.

In summary, there's a thrilling driving experience to be had which makes the game a totally different (and better) play from last year, and a lot of issues have been ironed out. Although there are no real glaring weaknesses, one still gets the feeling that the game doesn't quite feel complete... that there's just a little more in every area that a truly great game would have. It's a rare instance where an "annual installment" is a truly different (and better) experience... and is bendable enough for people who plan to put a few dozen or few hundred hours into it.

Note to renters and used purchases-The multiplayer features have a DRM feature, where the game is shipped with one code to unlock those features. Assuming it's been used already, accessing it will cost $9.99 via PSN. It does not have any effect on single player modes. This doesn't matter much to me personally, but I figure it worth mentioning so that no one ends up surprised.

UPDATE: After playing through 3 full seasons, I'm left very impressed with the AI difficulty scale. On "Professional" (one from the setting for hardcore players) the AI cranks out qualifying times and fastest laps within about a second of what the actual cars have managed on-track during this season. Better still, cars from each team have strengths and weaknesses that their non-virtual counterparts tend to have. Still could use a tutorial on DRS and KERS, though, and a terminology seminar. Something so that the phrase "I'm purple in sectors 2 and 3 after ricking a change to scrub options early from inters while on mix 3 to try to close the gap before the first activation zone" makes sense to you and can float around in your head at least a little. A few other minor gripes, but I stick with my bottom line from the original review.

F1 2011 is here and it is a great step forward in the codemasters handling of a much beloved and intricate sport, but there are some caveats. Outside of the actual races, career mode is still a tad dull, it has been streamlined a little so answering reporters questions has a far more noticeable effect on you and your team, but overall it's nothing special...until you get to a race. Here things really start to shine, physics HAS been improved, there is a sense of weight and mass to cars that was a little off in 2010, cars feel less like friction less rockets and more like the grippy super cars they are. Your car will bounce and bob and is overall a better driving experience over last year. More surprisingly the AI is improved, it's hard this early to say where it's better, except that now AI opponents defend position, look for advantages when attacking yours, and basically are a real threat. On hardest difficulty it's a real nightmare, so much so that I don't think it can be played without a wheel setup if you're playing with no assists.

To me F1 is all about strategy, and what's so great about this game is that you feel like that the only way to win is to have a competent strategy for each track and any of it's given weather conditions, and of course a fuel and tire strategy that will have you staying in the race, oh and the the new addition of the pace car only adds a layer. KERS is here and it's something I'm learning to use, but I like it and DRS is also added. KERS is a one lap use while DRS is useable anytime, with some exceptions.

Praises for the game aside not everything is perfect, the graphics are better but only ever so slightly and only on specific things, your car looks awesome, and when you race in cockpit view you actually see yourself hitting buttons and twisting knobs on your steering wheel while racing, this is all done on each teams custom wheel, no more generic cockpits! Weather effects look better too and really scare the $&@% out of you when racing. Tracks look ok, but they could be a little sharper, and why do we still get those rearview mirrors that display things in SNES graphics quality? It something that I was hoping would be fixed, but it's still here...

Multiplayer is more or less unchanged but the real highlight is the team racing, now you play with a buddy on the same team, and it's as fun as you can imagine, both working together to best everyone one else while simultaneously trying to beat each other, it's so good and so integral and basic to f1 racing I'm surprised it wasn't in last years game. In the end F1 is a niche game, if you are unfamiliar with the sport or think it's like Dirt or even Forza and GT5 this game will destroy any silly ideas you think you have of racing, it will humble you and make you adapt. Overall 8.5/10, it's a great game, most likely the best racing game on any console, (before I get flamed, while gt5 and Forza are great they are more car game then racing game).

In closing if you own f1 2010 then you owe it to yourself to pick up this game, if your interested in racing or the sport itself, buy the game, turn on all the assists and have fun, the start slowly ratcheting up the difficulty, you won't be disappointed. To everyone else, come check out the most exhilarating racing game around!

im not the worlds biggest f1 fan but i do like auto racing and follow most... so anyways... i will judge this game based on NASCAR 2011 the game and from f1 2010

this game BLOWS AWAY NASCAR the game 2011 in every possible way... at first this game got me so mad because i picked the second hardest difficulty and limited assists and i couldn't complete a turn, unlike nascar i can put it on very hard and go from worst to first in about 2 corners... but then i thought hey its is actually fun, i actually have a challenge in a racing video game!

career

really havent got into the f1 career but if its anything like last year its 10xxx better than NASCAR... in nascar i put it on hard and won all the pole and races... not a challenge at all

multiplayer

this is the biggest for me... on nascar you pick a driver and go racing with no season or anything... but in f1 they finally have split screen, which is a blast! Me and my brother were teammates and had a great battle in the points. its such a positive to have split screen in racing games but the season makes it worth something...

graphics/damage

once again f1 has beautiful graphics and realistic car handling and damage... not the case in nascar where the graphics are ok and the damage looks so fake and the cars drive like they are on ice... at first on f1 i could not turn the car, because they actually were driving like a real f1 race car and not like a car on ice... also KERS and DRS are in the game and only on the teams that really have it.

i don't do online racing games because i feel that everyone is a poor sport and is only out there to wreck you so i have no comment on the online part of the game...

overall if you are somebody that is a nascar fan and wants to play a racing game that is not a glitch filled disaster... this game is for you... its miles ahead of nascar and has so much more to offer and is just about perfect in replicating f1 racing in all aspects... (hopefully codemasters gets a nascar license because if this is what nascar would be like i would pay double for it, im not kidding either nascar 2011 the game is that bad)

also if you are on the fence about this game trust me get it, it is worth it a great racing game

The graphics and the frame rate on the PS3 version are BAD--much worse than the 360 version. The frame rate clearly drops to 20fps or possibly less at points, and the entire game runs at barely 30fps, if that. The official forums are full of angry PS3 users, with many saying that the game gives them eye fatigue and/or headaches. I can personally say that trying to see what's happening on the screen at 150mph as frames flash by at such a low rate hurts my eyes as well, and I have no desire to play the game now. If you want this game (and it IS very good otherwise), either buy it for another platform or wait to see IF they decide to fix the PS3 version.

Want F1 2011 Discount?

It's a major racing game, like the other racing series (dirt, grid) developed by codemasters. Excelent simulation of the tracks, the cars and the F1 race physics. I recomend 100% for gamers wich enjoy grandprix style races.

First off, let me say that I'm a big fan of Harmonix, Rock Band, and Green Day. But I can't help but be miffed about this.

As another reviewer has already said, where Beatles Rock Band was big, beautiful, and lovingly crafted, Green Day Rock Band feels slapdash and rushed out. I understand being locked into the real band characters, instruments, and venues...but do there have to be only three venues? There's even only one loading screen background for each transition, for heaven sakes! Lazy lazy lazy.

I love Green Day, which means I love the music on the disk, which is why I'm giving this four stars for fun. After all, it's cheaper than if they'd sold it as DLC, right? Might as well just pay the extra $10, add it to your RB2 library, and pretend the disk never existed.

But there's one other thing that really, REALLY sticks in my craw. You've made a real band Rockband title an homage to the look and music of Green Day, and then you CENSOR the songs?!? That's outrageous! Take the mature rating already! At the very least, put some sort of parent controllable feature to switch between "clean" and "original" modes. Yes, I know this isn't the first time we've been stuck with clean versions, but those were single tracks, and sometimes they were clean versions put out by the band (i.e. Creep) rather than blanked out.

The early Green Day catalogue in particular is now full of mysterious blank spaces in the lyrics that damage the rhythm and vocal play experience. I'm not a "go profanity in music!" person, but I don't mind at all if it fits the music's theme and other lyrics rather than simply being used for shock value. I am very annoyed that I am being forced to play the FCC approved versions of the band's music in a product that's supposedly built from the ground up for the fans.

I'm an adult! Let ME make that choice...and if I wasn't an adult, my PARENTS should be making that choice.

Thanks for protecting me from those bad four letter words Harmonix...you really, really shouldn't have.

This is my review and game play video of Green Day : Rock Band.

The video quality will be a bit low due to it having to fit in the 100Mb requirements here.

Background:

I was into the punk scene back in the late 70's early 80's. The bands I grew up listening to all had a very tough time making any real money. Even the big ones like Minor Threat, 7 Seconds, Black Flag, all did pretty well but never were able to achieve any sort of real fame. Move ahead to the 90's and bands like Nirvana took some of the punk sound and changed it enough to become what we called Grunge. Those bands did well to get enough popularity to make it big on the college radios and eventually made it mainstream. It was not until Green Day came around did I hear what I enjoyed so much as a kid. By then I was an adult serving in the military over in the Gulf. It was really cool to hear those 3 chord progression riffs and wickedly fast drum beats that got my blood pumping.

Now I am a dad with 2 kids. I missed out on the real punk years and I guess I could be called a sell out poser or something. Instead, I think that I moved on, but my taste in music still has its roots in the old days of the Sx Pistols. Green Day adeptly captures this sound and because so many of us are now in our 40's we hear this sound on the radio.

As I was playing this game my mother was visiting for my daughters birthday. She watched me play it and commented on the fact she liked 4 of the songs. Thats pretty incredible considering when I was a kid, more mild music she said was awful and wouldn't listen at all...

About the game:

This game is very similar to what you saw (if you had it) of Playstation 3 The Beatles: Rock Band . You play different periods of time. You start in the early successful years of Green Day. About the time of Dookie. You can jump in each concert and play a few different songs from a couple of their early albums. Or you can jump ahead to their most recent release 21st Century Breakdown and play a 2009 concert. Each concert has a set list that you play through. As you get at least 3 stars you earn a sticker and can move on. The more songs you finish the more fan songs open up. What is cool is if you just like Green Day as a passing interest and know just 1 or 2 of their songs, you will probably find enough to play as a rental. If you are a deep fan, loving every song they have ever made, you can unlock almost all of them by finishing all sets and challenges.

Trophies:

The better you do the more stickers you can stick on Billy Joe's guitar. Also for hard core Rockband people you can do some really tough challenges to achieve trophies. Some are pretty easy like playing 10 songs at 3 stars or more, or, you can go and play left handed and score 100% on 5 songs in a row. There are like 300 different trophies from what I have seen and I have only unlocked 2 of them. So there is a bunch of replay-ability.

Rockband:

Like other real band titles you cannot change the look of your character. Instead you play as one of the real members of the band. They are stylized and pretty accurate models of the members of the band. If you have ever played a rock band game you will feel right at home here with this title. I do recommend doing the calibration right off the bat. I thought I would be ok and it took only 2 songs of me missing 95% of the buttons for me to see it needed to be calibrated. Manual calibration was pretty easy and there is an auto mode if you have a controller equipped with that.

Overall:

I really like this release from Harmonix. I was in a punk garage band with my friends back in the 1980s. We wanted to be big time. Alas it never worked out, but, with games like this I can at least pretend. That is what gaming is all about. Its a way to leave reality and be something you are not, and probably will never be. Thats cool.

Recommendations.

Hook your PS3 output up to a large amp receiver or system and turn it up to 11.

Green Day Rockband is great as a track pack for Green Day fans. As a standalone game, it is mediocre when compared to any of the other Rock Band games.

There is no customization for costumes, instruments, or venues like in RB1-2 or L:RB. Beatles RB didn't have this either, but compensated with the absolutely beautiful music video style visuals and variety of venues. Here you get neither. There are only three venues which show the standard Rock Band style visuals with a Green Day skin. The new motion capture technique used in the game looks awesome and authentic... until you notice that they use the same animations for every other song.

Completing songs unlocks photos, but there is no way to zoom-in and pan around them, nor is there any form of caption. There are also challenges that unlock music videos and rare footage, but only the biggest fans are going to sit and watch it. Anyone else would be better off getting a copy of Bullet in a Bible on DVD.

It really is NOTHING compared to what they did for the Beatles, which is both understandable and sad. If they were charging $40 for this, that would be OK. But it seems as if they rushed it out the door because they didn't want to have an RB2 engine game on the shelf with RB3.

If you're a HUGE Green Day fan, you've already got your copy. If not... pick it up in a bargain bin in a few months so you can export it into RB3.

Owing all other installments to the Rock Band series, I was really not sure why Harmonix was releasing a Rock Band solely dedicated to Green Day. Having played the game, I can say that I completely understand now why there is a Green Day Rock Band, but the game itself isn't what I would have expected from Harmonix.

Pros:

1. Green Day music. If you weren't a fan before or weren't familiar enough with their music to call yourself a fan, this game gives you a greater appreciation and respect for a well-deserving band.

2. Gameplay: The difficulty doesn't appear to be modified to be easier like in the Beatles Rock Band so you'll have a more authentic Rock Band experience.

3. Three-part harmonies: Always fun to include more people in the vocal gameplay.

Cons:

1. The graphics and overall appearance: The characters seems a bit awkward in appearance. Even the Rock Band characters look more well put together than the graphical members of Green Day. The game itself isn't very visually appealing at all. Every "dreamscape" is 1 of 3 or 4 Green Day concerts. It's hardly creative or interesting to look at.

2. Three-part harmony set-up: I understand that the game is meant to be darker, but the three part harmony vocals especially are really difficult to see. Because all the colors are so similar (with the exception of lead being in blue), it's hard to tell whether harmony 2 is singing alone or with harmony 3. Also, the icons are so dark in color and look very similar so it's difficult to tell if you are hitting your harmony or someone else's.

3. Scenes: As mentioned before, the game takes place in basically 3 or 4 places and they are all concerts. There are very few videos that stand out as being visually interesting. Otherwise, the band is pretty much doing the same thing in every song.

Perhaps it is unfair to expect that Green Day Rock Band would have been anything like The Beatles Rock Band, but I certainly think this game could have been much better. The one thing I took away from this game is how great a band Green Day really is and Green Day does deserve a better game. The game looks like it was rushed into production and release and the fact that it actually LOOKS that way isn't a good thing.

The game is still worth having as part of your Rock Band library but not for $60. I highly suggest waiting for a price drop before purchasing the game.

First I'd like to say, for hardcore music/button-mashing game fans, this is one to skip. Green Day songs aren't that challenging to play even on the expert setting. I was able to beat most of the songs on expert in a single try and I'm pretty average at that difficulty. A lot of the songs are the equivalent to "My Name is Jonas" by Weezer on GH3.

Moving on to the actual review, I'm cool with bands going on to new stuff and considering that Green Day has like 9 albums (not including singles or live albums) and I can see that they aren't going put every song on the game, but why is every song on this game from 21st Century Break Down? There is no variety or even split of their other albums, it's just 15 songs from their newest, most of American Idiot, and I believe all of Dookie. Then there are traces from Warning and Nimrod, and Insomniac. Well what happened to Kerplunk, Shenanigans, 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, and the singles from International Superhits? Not to mention there were only like 2 songs from Warning, Nimrod, and Insomniac. I mean, I would have really liked to see 2,000 Light Years Away in this game, it's one of my favorites. So instead of getting all the good songs Green Day has to offer, you get mostly average songs and a few good ones from the newer albums and Dookie. This was a major disappointment. It's like going to a concert from a band you've liked for 15 years and all they do is play every song off of their newest album in the order they come in on the CD (it adds to the disappointment of my expectations because Green Day plays everything at their concerts so it was a big let down to only see 3 albums of content on the game). I almost feel like this messes with the average Green Day fan more than hardcore fans. Since people have mostly forgotten about old Green Day music, wouldn't it be a huge treat to an average fan to learn that their old music is actually good to? Being that this is a Green Day compilation game, maybe they should actually have some variety.

Censorship wasn't a winner with this game either. I think the makers of this game think we all enjoy awkward pauses in our music every 10 seconds. Something I don't get is that if you can say all the words that were blanked out in this game in a PG-13 movie, then why can't you say it in a T-rated game? PG-13 and T are the same thing. You become a teenager when you turn 13, so they should allow the same content. If they really are that worried about selling copies, a Parental Control option isn't rocket science.

Graphics were little to be desired. It's pathetic to see PS1 graphics on a PS3. Being that there isn't much actual content on this game, they could have made it a little more visually appealing. All they had to do was put a bunch of notes to the rhythm of a song to which there is probably a really easy formula to follow so they couldn't have spent that much time on the game play and other stuff. The menus also make you feel like you are trapped in a very small box. I haven't played any other RB games but this game feels much more limited than GH3 menu. I also feel that as a hardcore green day fan, I don't really care to see a bunch of band photos. You can get stuff like that on Google. Show me something I can't see easily or something more interesting, like videos of them working on the game, a music video, a video with their opinions on the RB series or shots of them playing, or maybe a special live acoustic version of a one of their songs. It feels like little imagination is put into the unlockable content in these games and most of it's uninteresting. I didn't care to unlock all the video content yet, but I hear it's just stuff you can get from one of their live Albums.

I haven't gotten to quickplay yet but the Career mode is really dull and annoying. Do they really think I want to wait 15 minutes watching some stupid band intro EVERY time a song starts or you fail a song. And I thought RPGs were bad with redundant non-skippable content. There are only like 3 different things they do so you end up seeing the same stuff every time and that's really annoying. Why can't the song just start and is it also really necessary to reload the whole song when I want to change the difficulty? These loading times are ridiculous. On my can computer, I can just click as song and it plays instantly. My CD player can do that too. So why are the loading times so long on these games? It's not like the mediocre graphics take that much. Career mode is very unimaginative too. All you do is play the song and that is it. The game offers challenges but all those challenges are, are getting better scores on each song. Why can't I battle Mike Dirnt like in GH or be forced to play a song with the guitar behind my back or only be allowed to sing every 3rd word, just do something creative. This is a game after all.

I give this game a 4 in fun, because I am a huge, bias Green Day fan, but over all they did a terrible job with the actual game.
