Very nice stick. I won mine at a tourney raffle, lucky. but for 349.99 i couldn't justify. the vlx is preeeeetty much a chain saw cutting off the official sf4 cabinets joystick. but if you have the money i guess buy this. since it's limited edition and sfxt is so hype right now its going for double its value. as time goes on expect 500 $ asking prices. at the end of the day the sfxt stick is a round 2 TE with better graphics/artwork and a sloped edge to help not hurt your wrist as much. a round 2 TE goes for 140$ on here. if art work sloped edge and exclusivety are worth an additional 150-200$ it up to you. sanwa comes in all TE sticks.

We purchased Rio several months ago. Our wii was acting up so I wanted a multiplayer game for the ps3. My kids age 8,7, and 5 really love this game. It's a series of minigames a along with quizzes if you turn them on. Their are enough games that I don't feel like I'm playing the same one every time that I play.

This game is enough fun that my husband and I stayed up with our friends until 2am playing without the kids! It really is fun for the whole family!

Some games (like Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Phineas & Ferb 2nd Dimension) do a great job of capturing the essence of the movies/shows and make for a really fun game to play through.

Rio possesses some of those elements, but after you've went through the 100 or so minigames, which can be played in a lot of different modes (Party, Story, Quiz, etc.) there isn't really anything else to do save to try for the various trophies. The graphics are very good, controls are simplistic enough, and the cutscenes (during the storyline) are right out of the movie.

Obviously if your kids loved the movie and are satisfied with the minigame setup, this will hold their attention for a few weeks or so. Otherwise, I definitely would not purchase this game. There is simply not enough replay value for the price ($42 on Amazon at the time of this review) to justify.

I have long been searching for PS3 games that can be played by the whole family. I have 2 kids, aged 6 and 4. I got them Toy Story 3 for Christmas and they loved it. But it gets boring after a while. The Rio game, on the other hand have mini games and you could choose the games yourself (or pick Random if you wish). Graphics is pretty impressive! I love how the birds rejoice when they win. When we have guests come over, we also play this game. Both adults and kids enjoy this game.

I agree with the other commenter. I wish they made more games like this.

Definitely a solid system with a solid library of exclusive titles. I definitely gave this 5 stars because it is a very solid machine and one of the best selling points is, the online gameplay is free. It isn't quite as reliable as XBOX Live (in my opinion), but it is still a very viable option. I have found personally, that the Sony Playstation excels more so at single player games whereas the XBOX 360 tends to have a better multiplayer experience.

The price is what drew me to this product. Although the estimated time of delivery is about a month (which I am aware of when I ordered it since I suspected that it will be coming from a foreign country which it did), the product arrived in less than 2 weeks. It looks just like the one pictured and comes in a container that looks like the real branded item. However, the right stick and the square button are already not functioning properly.

Good looking product but the quality is extremely poor. It's a waste of money.

I've only had my PS3 for about a month now so I'm still amazed every time I turn the thing on. I still remember my Atari 2600. That said MLB 2K6 was my favorite on the PS2 so I had to give 2K7 a shot. I'm very impressed with what I see so far. The graphics are amazing, game play is solid, and the announcers are great.

I'm an old school gamer so I don't care much for franchise modes and managing what flavor sodas the concession stands will serve. I just want to pick a team and play ball. This game is great for that, not too simple and not too complicated.

Once you get used to the controls you'll have a lot of fun. I was half way through my first game before I realized it was set to sixaxis instead of classic batting. Once I got through feeling stupid the game was really fun. I will be spending a lot of time on this game. Unless you're a complete game snob who's impossible to please I don't see any reason why you wouldn't like this game. Individual batting stances, trips around the mound, game highlights, (most) faces look more like the real players, this game is very impressive. My only gripe is the multiple batting camera angles are gone, other than that so far so good.

First off, I am a huge fan of baseball games. I was one of those people who's heart was broken when the mvp series was discontinued so then the decision had to be made...2k series or the Show. After last year there was no question that the show was better. I recently picked up a PS3 and since the Show is not out yet for it, I decided that I would RENT MLB 2k7. Bottom line is that the graphics are brilliant. But that goes the same way for every game that has been released for PS3 at this point. These graphics, however, are ruined by gameplay that was unchanged from last year on the PS2 which was the biggest reason why i went with the Show. For example if you have anyone at the plate that has any power at all...you will have an 85% chance of hitting a home run if you make contact and are pressing up. (Chipper Jones hit 4 home runs the first game I played). The computer will rob an average of 1-2 homeruns per game as well.

A projection that I have for the Show for PS3 is this. If it looks anywhere near as good as 2k7 and plays like the Show plays, then It will be the best baseball game ever made. Keep your money in your wallet until the Show comes out April 31.

Buy Major League Baseball 2K7 Now

I love baseball games, so when I saw that the Show wasn't going to be released until May, I figured I would just get MLB 2k7 instead since it was already out. Initially I really liked this game, until I started a season and played about 20 games. The graphics are great but, this game is so phoney as far as stats go. I have played 28 games and Alfonso Soriano has 27 home runs. I have the batter power turned almost down to zero and my guys are still hitting everything out. If you play in a stadium where the fences are short enough to climb, you will be robbed of homeruns at least 1-2 times a game. It is a rarity to score a run without hitting a home run. During a season teams get hot when they go on a winning streak. You might as well skip these games because it is impossible to win them. Cincinatti hit 12 home runs in one game against me and won 2 games 16-5 and 18-2. Everything was going out of the park. I thought I was buying a realistic baseball game not some pumped up steroid fantasy where Ozzie Smith could make a run at Hank Aarons record.

Word is one of the lead designers of MLB 06 the Show jumped ship to the 2K team. Another issuethe Show was pushed back to April. Makes you wonder whats going on over at SCEA. Maybe they got a hold of 2K7 and freaked because they realized their game looked lastgen. NBA 07 Stunk for the PS3 and they probably dont want to repeat that fate, especially with the acclaim the PS2 versions have gotten in past years.

As for MLB2K7, the graphics are amazingespecially the windups by the pitcher. Some have complained of "slowdown" but I havent noticed thatI think the stadium "shakes" a bit on occasion with multiple players on base, but thats more realistic of the atmosphere and how the pitcher would feel anyway.

It may take you a bit of time to get a hang of the controls, but when you do, I dare say you'll be in love. The fielding in particular takes a bit of time to getting used to.

In any event, I believe its better to get the PS3 version and really "swing" with your sixaxis than the old school way of doing things on the XBOX360 (although I am told the graphics may be a *tad* more polished on the XBOX version, despite the fact the console has less power).

Want Major League Baseball 2K7 Discount?

First, IGNORE all reviews that bash this game, they either haven't played it or want a game that you can dominate the first time you play it. The game takes a little time to get used to, but once you do it is great. The first two times I played I sucked, I was bad at fielding and could not hit anything. But I got used to the fielding and usually go error-free now. Batting with the motion sensor actually is a little fun when you get used to it (do a few homerun durby's to get the hang of it, like 20 of them). Pitching is the best I have ever seen in a game, graphics are great, I have seen no frame problems. Stealing is way too hard, not a simple tell the runner to go, you have to do it yourself. Baserunning takes a while to get used to. Computer makes too many great plays, like 6 a game instead of 1 or 2. Options are great, although I don't see the difference between GM mode and Franchise mode. Can customize anything you want and I mean anything, down to if the player wears 1 or 2 earrings. I played NBA 2K7 and NBA 07 the show and NBA 2K7 was a lot better, so I am thinking the same with their baseball games, plus with MLB the show not coming out until mid May now, BUY MLB 2K7. Still need create a team in baseball games and improved in basketball, nothing beats creating a team with your own logos like Madden for the PC (even though they won't put next gen. graphics in that version).

Flawed but Fantastic ...

Was eagerly anticipating this game as it promised to deliver over 50 Ferraris to drive on fantastic race tracks around the world.

Positives:

+ Realistic Handling. I own a Ferrari 348 myself and felt the handling was very similar.

+ Nicely detailed tracks

+ Decent (but not world class graphics)

+ Challenging to drive there is a learning curve for all newbies but the rewards are worth it. Turn off all the assists and the car becomes easier to drive.

Negatives:

Didn't provide the 50 cars that were promised future download content were scratched

System 3 sucks

Lots of niggling bugs some of which were addressed in a support pack. But there are a lot of other faults/improvements that are still needed

AI drives unnecessarily aggressively if they drove like that in real life, they would be blackflagged immediately and their racing license revoked. Hint: Overtake them on the outside.

Car sounds are not that great

Cannot save games / poor replays

Small customer base makes it a moot point to get future updates / upgrades.

Despite the many negatives, it is a must-have game if you like realistic driving simulations. Don't buy it if you want an arcade game you will get bored in two days.

Ferrari Challenge promised a lot but delivered very, very little and early owners of this game amounted to nothing more than beta testers who had to pay for the privilege.

I'll start with the good, the driving physics are rather accurate and the track selection is lengthy and diverse, even if some of the circuits are a bit inaccurate. The inclusion such world class circuits like VIR and Spa was especially welcome.

Despite gritty and low rez graphics, the game has a low and inconsistent frame rate and is rife with popup. It completely fails in conferring a sense of speed, an attribute any racing game should posses.

Opponent AI is equally lackluster, consisting of nothing else but remorseless blocking that allows cars ahead to escape. The behavior exhibited by the AI would be promptly black flagged in any amateur or professional race series on earth.

If that were not enough, the game as delivered, featured completely broken online racing that was fixed for MONTHS. In addition, PROMISED DLC has been scuttled because of "licensing issues", but curiously these issues don't prevent the DLC from being rolled into a new game from System 3, called "Supercar Challenge".

Don't buy this game. Don't reward these developers' lies and deceit with you hard earned gaming dollar. Gran Turismo 5 prologue, while not without issues, offers a MUCH better racing experience and MUCH better value for your dollar.

I'm playing this using a Logitech Driving Force GT steering wheel.

This is a rather small racing game, with fewer tracks and cars than most other games, but considering the rock-bottom price it's going for these days, I thought it would be a good deal. And overall I guess it was. You've got 4 different modes of play, the primary one is probably the "Challenge" mode. This has three sets of races: European, Italian, and North American. Each location has 7 races, and you have to use the exact same car for all the races. You also have to do the races in order, 1, 2, 3 etc. You can't skip ahead or go back. You can set the length of each race for 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or longer. You cannot restart any race, you can only exit the race, resulting in a last place finish, and then go on to the next race. Winning races in this mode unlocks tracks for use in the other parts of the game, as well as unlocking cars which you can then purchase but still not use in this part of the game, only the other modes.

The other modes are Time Trial, where you drive around a track with no other cars on it, simply trying to set a good time. Then there's Trophy mode, where you can race the cars you've purchased. There are three races for each car, and I believe they last 10 minutes each. You have to race on the 3 tracks available for that car, you can't choose. Then there's Arcade mode, where you have 4 races each in beginner, intermediate, expert and legend difficulty. Once again, you can't choose the tracks, you can't skip ahead or go back, you just have to do them in order.

The handling physics are very realistic in my opinion, of course I don't drive a lot of Ferrari's in real life. And after playing this game, I wouldn't want to. These cars have gigantic amounts of both oversteer and understeer. Go into a corner at what seems like a very slow speed and the car will plow straight ahead. And plow, and plow. Once you finally get the front tires to hook up, stepping on the gas will send the rear end spinning around in front of you, so you have to use extremely mild and progressive throttle application. And forget about stepping on the brakes if you're going around a corner, as you'll spin out instantly. Eventually you settle into a routine of entering corners at an agonizingly slow speed (the speedometer says you're doping 40 mph but it sure looks more like 10 mph), then oh-so-gently get back on the throttle at the apex. Of course you can turn on the driving aids like ABS brakes, traction control (keeps the tires from spinning under acceleration) and stability control, but that tends to limit how far you can push the car and makes it impossible to keep up with the AI cars. You cannot upgrade any cars with performance parts, and you can only tune the one car that you use in the Challenge mode.

And those AI cars. Oh...My...God. These things are imbecilic. They are literally programmed to behave in exactly the opposite manner of real-life race drivers. They move to the inside edge of a corner as you approach, blocking your passing attempt. You can try to pass on the outside, but they'll just swing back to the outside as they exit the corner, drive straight into you, and then continue driving straight into you until you've dragged them halfway down the next straightaway. It's absolutely maddening. And they're always swerving all over the place. As soon as you get used to trying to pass them on the outside (which is usually impractical), they'll decide to swerve over there and block you. Coming up to a corner with two AI cars in front of you is always good for a laugh the first one will take the corner normally, but the second one will move to the inside to block you, resulting in them running into each other just about every time. The only reasonable solution is to play the game like a demolition derby, cutting inside corners and slamming into the side of the car ahead of you, which will almost always result in an easy pass.

Between the abysmal AI and the rather small number of tracks, together with the extremely restrictive nature of the career mode, this game gets old pretty quick. The good physics are fun, and as long as you're not battling the AI it's enjoyable to drive around the tracks. The graphics are actually quite good considering the age of the game. But if you're planning on playing this for more than a handful of evenings, you'll find yourself pretty bored and after too much time battling the AI, you'll be swearing at your TV screen like there's no tomorrow.

Want Ferrari Challenge Discount?

I hate to give such a low rating, because the game itself isn't particularly horrible (although it is painfully dated and can't be remotely compared to state of the art games like GT5,) but either I have a defective product or it has an unbelievably bad drawback the engine sound. There are 5 step-downs of the view of the track you can use from overhead shots of the car to nose camera view which I prefer. As you step down, the engine sound gets fainter and using the nose view it is completely muted. If you can't hear the engine, you don't know when to shift other than the tach, and isn't the sound of the Ferrari engine the whole point? I've tried everything within the game to adjust it, I tried to change the settings of the PS3 in case there was a 5.1 surround issue and I scoured the web for chat sites and reviews with no luck. Activision no longer answers customer support e-mail & refers you to a forum with hundreds of comments on all their games. Life's too short to have to work this hard to get a game to work. Wish I'd rented first and I welcome comments from anyone who knows how to address this problem.

"Lollipop Chainsaw" is one of the most genuinely stupid games I've played in my entire life. Its dialogue is reliant on a nonstop barrage of crude jokes and puns, its gameplay consists of decapitating hoards of zombies as a cheerleader, and it makes loving references to 80's pop music, internet culture, and, most obviously, zombie films. This is a game where Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me Right Round" blasts as you're mowing down undead mobs with a tractor combine, and where a motor attached to the protagonist's chainsaw propels her fast enough to jump hundreds of feet into the air and produce a giant rainbow behind her. Everything about this game is over the top, silly, and utterly idiotic. That is why it's one of the best games I've ever played.

Suda51, creator of beloved gems like "No More Heroes", has teamed up with the writer of "Slither" to produce a brilliant throwback to the insane arcade games of the mid-90's. You know the ones I'm talking about. The brawlers with vibrant colors, nonsensical plots, and infectious music. Games with satisfying gameplay, insane characters, and boss stages that are as creative as they are punishing. In a market brimming with dark shooters and motion control minigames, this game is a beautiful, bloody spew of rainbow vomit. Not content to put forth any less effort than 120% at all times, the world Grasshopper Manufacture has created is nothing short of extraordinary.

The concept is about as out there as they come. The gleefully destructive Juliet Starling, along with her sisters Rosalind and Cordelia, has been trained in the ways of zombie killing since she was a baby, killing her first fiend when she was six months old. She also has a pathological obsession with lollipops and is an ace cheerleader. Her boyfriend, Nick, has fallen pretty hard for her, but doesn't know quite how to react when she decapitates him and begins to wear him on her hip to save him from a zombie infection. This unlikely couple, one a ditsy optimist and the other a sardonic pessimist, have to work together if they hope to exterminate the root of a zombie plague that threatens to destroy humanity.

This re-donk-ulous concept is anchored by Juliet herself, played by the wonderful Tara Strong (Twilight Sparkle in "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic"). No matter the situation, Juliet always has something witty to say, whether it be a unique observation or an entirely abstract musing about the most random of things. She is not a cold female warrior or a victimized survivor like too many female protagonists are these days. This character is funny, courageous, and a true lead in every since of the word. Her actions are defined by nobody but herself, which is such a rare thing in games today. Hats off to Suda51 for breaking the mold once again with another stellar lead character.

The gameplay should not be overshadowed by the zaniness of the game itself, however. What has been cooked up in this department is nothing short of miraculous, a sweet slice of brawler goodness. Juliet is, pardon the pun, a cut above every other beat-em-up protagonist today not because of the strength of her attacks, or the arsenal she wields. No, because even though both of those things are great, what defines this character is the fluid and creative way her cheerleader routines get thrown into the combat. Wielding a chainsaw is much more satisfying when it's prefaced by piggybacking over an enemy, whacking them with your pompoms a few times, then executing a twirling jump into the air before slicing straight through their neck. But this is all stuff you can do at the beginning of the game. When you start unlocking more moves and new upgrades, combat gets elevated to a whole new level within an hour or so of playing. "Lollipop Chainsaw" delivers some of the most intense and fun fights I've ever had, and the level of control it gives is enough to alleviate the occasional frustration brought on by camera quirks and cheap enemy knockdowns.

Variety is the spice of life, though, and the game also delivers this in spades. Sure, the brunt of the experience is spend chopping zombies to bloody, rainbow-tinged bits, but that's not all you do. No, you also get to baseball by shooting zombies with explosives while Nick (temporarily possessing a body) runs the bases; you get run through a kart racing-style obstacle course and hurdle off of rainbow ramps. Shooting, obstacle courses, driving... this game offers such a wealth of varied gameplay styles that one's head begins to spin, not knowing what's going to happen at any given second, which is exactly how the developers intended. It's constantly defying expectations, which sets it apart from the pack.

Graphically, it's not a triple-A title, but what it lacks in polish it makes up for in inventiveness. You'll be slashing your way through schools, farms, arcades and hallucinatory dystopias inhabited by giant killer chickens. You're not going to get these types of locations from any other game. Same goes for the overall aesthetic look of the combat. Instead of just packing on the blood and guts (which it does as well), the carnage is punctuated by giant glowing hearts and vibrant rainbows. Nothing says "brutal murder" like a huge heart exploding from a decapitated corpse, after all. Also a nice touch are how remarkably well-designed all of the characters are, including the zombies. Juliet herself can be decked out in a ridiculous amount of costumes, her older sister looks like a butch biker, and her younger sister looks like something the 80's threw up. Zombies range from obese farmers to lanky rockers to bubblegum-chewing baseball pitchers. There's a big emphasis on clothing, so much so that there's an Achivement/Trophy for staring up Juliet's skirt for an extended period of time. You're welcome.

The sound is just as wonderful as everything else. Musically, the game is broad and diverse, covering a huge range of genres. This is thanks to famed composer Akira Yamaoka, whose wealth of musical knowledge fits this game like a glove. Techno, jam band, and garage rock are just a few of the types of music you're going to hear. Spicing this up is an astounding amount of licensed music, my personal favorite being Toni Basil's "Mickey", which cranks up every time Juliet activates her powered-up mode. Others include cuts by Dead or Alive and The Runaways, which round out one of the most diverse games of the past decade. Also worth noting is the boss stage music by Mindless Self Indulgence frontman Jimmy Urine, who also voices the first boss stage.

While the game itself is somewhat short, this isn't something you play just once. So many costumes, so many unlockables, and (from my understanding) an alternate ending are all good reasons to keep playing, but something else may drive players out there to wear this disc out: Scoreboards. This game is more arcade-style than most of the "arcade games" on the Live Marketplace or Playstation Network, and it's perfect for single-level playthroughs to get JUST ONE MORE POINT than the other guys and gals playing. It was a smart inclusion in what was already a great package.

Grasshopper Manufacture has struck gold once again, and created the best game to come out of them since "No More Heroes." "Lollipop Chainsaw" is a bright, gaudy, and joyfully stupid breath of fresh air to an industry plagued by far too military shooters and kiddie games. There has never been, and most likely will never be, another game like this. On top of that, it's a dang fine time for just about anybody. Years from now, I'll still be remembering this game, and comparing what I'm playing at the moment to it.

Exceeding all expectations, "Lollipop Chainsaw" has become one of the greatest games I've ever played. Well played, Suda51. Well played.

Get this game right now if you want to be blown away by some crazy-cool style, bawdy language, fun combat, addictive gameplay, tons of unlocks, and I could go on and on. The zombies are kind of cool but they are just the dressing on this insanity salad. The first level alone left me so euphoric I was replaying it just to get my score higher and laugh and the hilarious scenarios again. I play a lot of shooters and this is definitely what I needed to clear the palette. Don't listen to the self-proclaimed professional reviewers who ditch this game because it should be "so much more". That's like saying Robert Rodriguez's "Planet Terror" should be so much more, which is the closest work of art I could say captures the feeling of this game. If you think Lollipop Chainsaw is supposed to be like Ninja Gaiden, God of War, or anything in that vein, you would be mistaken and this game would not be for you. But, I know I'll be playing this one a long time. Thank you Suda51 for taking the risks to bring this masterpiece to the public. We need more games like this.

I was very pleased with this so far, fun button masher.Juliet is a hot cheerleader with a chainsaw! and has to fight off a mass of zombies at San Romero High, it's kinda like a Dead Rising crossed with High School of the dead [anime].If you want a type of game that is different from all the other doldrums of sports games like Madden that just update the roster each year, etc it's a good game 4 you.

If you're not completely sold wait for it to drop to $30 or so.

i didn't have a lot of expectations going in except i was happy about the rumored plethora of rainbows (and they are here!)!

the game breaks you in fairly well...the prologue is an easy transition into new moves and combo practice. the one thing i found sort of frustrating right off the bat is that you could be mid-horde and the screen would stop to explain a new move or somesuch which sort of threw off the momentum.

there may be some finesse in the gameplay, however this seems to be a button masher (more or less) if i've ever seen one. and honestly, the game moves pretty quickly and is enough fun that most tediums are forgotten pretty quickly. several times i found myself saying "i will play ONE more level..." and then i would see two hours go by.

sure there is loads of teenage boy humor, but given the title of the game and the style it was made in (not to mention suda51's input) this isn't a big surprise. most of the jokes are fairly corny, but a couple of times i found myself snickering out loud.

i DID feel the boss fights were tedious. honestly, how many times in a row must you kill someone?

the one really bothersome thing was the length of some of the cutscenes and the subsequent load times. at this point in the ps3's lifespan, there shouldn't be an extensive load time for a cutscene. and then an extensive load time right after.

for me, the breakdown was as follows:

concept: pretty hilarious. there is a definite adolescent humor at work here. sometimes it works, other times it feels a little forced.

graphics: i was a little disappointed. for a new release game, i felt the graphics were fairly poor, especially in the cutscenes.

sound: several of the songs on the soundtrack are great fun to fight to, however some of the interim music is a little too thrasher for me, especially for extended periods of time. sound effects were well done.

playability: i certainly found this accessible from the get go. i stumbled a bit, but the game is well laid out for the beginner.

entertainment: great! i loved the excess of rainbows, silly moves, and especially SPARKLE MODE! as a female, i appreciate a game that is tailored to my rainbow addiction and video game ass-kickery.

replay value: unsure...there are outfits and art to collect in-game, but right now i'm not sure i'd want to play this repeatedly. i will hang onto it for a while to see if i have the urge.

all in all, i'm pleased i bought this (but i'm more pleased i got it on sale). for anyone on the fence, i'd recommend waiting until the price drops. it may not be a masterpiece, but it is a heck of a lot of fun.

Want Lollipop Chainsaw Discount?

Lollipop Chainsaw is a game caught my eye a little over a year ago with a chainsaw welding cheerleader fighting zombies. It caught the eye of the Brony community when it was announced that Tara Strong (the voice of Twilight Sparkle) was going to be the voice actor of the main character Juliet Starling. It caught my eye again when it was announced that professional cosplayer Jessica Nigri was going to be the official live action Juliet Starling for promotional proposes. Once again my eye was caught when it was announced that Jimmy Urine, the lead singer of Mindless Self Indulgence, would be doing the boss music for the game and the voice of one of the bosses. As well, there was a lot of hype for this game across the internet and at game expos. To me, this looked one of those games that could be really good or really bad. After playing through it a couple times I can say it falls in the middle but on the good side of the middle. This game is dripping with style. It has a comic book like theme and feel and it really works with the characters and graphics of the game. It feels like Bayonetta, Scott Pilgrim, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, and a pinch of The Evil Dead thrown into a blender. It's a very silly game that doesn't take itself too seriously and neither should the player. The game play is generally fun and moves at a good pace. First, let's take a look at why and what is happening in this game.

STORY: You play as Juliet Starling who is the lead cheerleader for the San Romero High School and also happens to come from a family of zombie hunters. Today is also her 18th birthday but when she gets to school the freakin' zombie apocalypse has started! Good thing she was carrying her super magical and multipurpose chainsaw! At this point you might be thinking `WOW! This sounds really stupid!' well it gets better. Her boyfriend, Nick, gets bit by a zombie and in order to save him she cuts his head off and casts a magical spell to keep him alive as a severed head attached to her hip. Turns out this goth kid at her school (who looks like a Marilyn Mason wannabe) is casting an evil spell on the school to get his revenge on society and it's up to Juliet, Nick, and her family of zombie hunters to stop them. Now like I said, this game doesn't take itself too seriously most of the time. Now I know people who like to keep their zombies more serious and this story is probably very much a turn off for them. This game certainly isn't for everyone but this is where the style over substance comes into the play. All the zombie bosses that are summoned set up the themes for all the levels and all have music themes. For example there is a Punk rock zombie and an 80's funk zombie. Also these boss zombies remind me of avatars from Guitar Hero 3. It has fairly good character development and I enjoy the banter between Juliet and Nick throughout the game. Only problem is that it is a short game and it comes to an end pretty quickly.

GAMEPLAY: The gameplay is generally a hack and slash type game. Juliet's move list starts out very limited but you game new abilities and can buy new moves as the game progresses. You buy moves, items, and unlockables with zombie medals which you earn by killing zombies. There are gold medals which are most common to buy moves and health items and there are silver medals which are used to buy unlockables, they are much more rare. You kill 3 or more zombies at once and you will be rewarded with a brief slow-mo cut scene and gold and silver medals known as `sparkle hunting' and I won't lie, it's very satisfying when you pull one of these off.

The levels themselves linear but have some variety in gameplay though they aren't always so fun. One level you are in an arcade and get sucked into old 80's style arcade games throughout the level. In another level you drive a thresher and run over zombies in a wheat field. The one I hated was zombie basketball where you have to decapitate enough zombie heads and throw them into a basketball hoop before the time runs out. Not all moves decapitate zombies and you are racing against the clock and if you lose, you die. This took me several frustrating continues to get past this part. One big issue I have with the game is that it is short. My first play through it took me 8 hours to beat. My second play through it took me about 5 or 6 hours which sadly is pretty common these days for games. It encourages multiple play troughs with all the unlockables and two different endings and difficulty settings but for a lot of people once will probably feel like enough and the unlocks really don't give that much incentive to play again. Another big problem I have with the gameplay is heavy on quick time events. This game is filled with QTEs that result in instant death so you gotta be ready. There are also lots of little mini-games involving putting Nick on a zombie body to perform some task but it's just one long annoying QTE. If you HATE QTEs you will probably not like this game at all but if you don't mind them then it shouldn't hurt how much fun you are having ripping up zombies with a chainsaw. The best parts of the game are the bosses. These are some kick ass boss battles with interesting music themed bosses and multi-stage fights. Easily the best parts of the game.

GRAPHICS: COLORFUL RAINBOWS! This game has lots of sparkle and flash to it but it all works with the comic book theme. The character models look really good with that cell shaded look and the zombie bosses are very well designed. The levels are a bit more on the bland side. Aside from the arcade level, none of the levels stand out too much visually and there is some texture pop-in going in a few of them. I really like the main menu and level select design though, once again with that comic book theme. The animation on the characters is great and flows well with the combat and gameplay. While the environments could have been better, the characters look great.

SOUND: This game has an AWESOME soundtrack. Along with some great original music, there is also licensed music such as the song Lollipop by Julius Dixon that plays during the online store sections. Boy that will get stuck in your head. Hey Micky You're so Fine plays when you're invisible for some extra laughs. But there is also a lot of metal and punk music that fills the soundtrack such as Dragonforce and Children of Bodem that all just fits the style of the game so well. You can unlock and arrange all the music as well and create your own background music play list. The voice acting is also really well done for the most part. Tara Strong does a creating Juliet and bringing her to life and the voice actor for Nick is hilarious. Jimmy Urine does the voice of the Punk Rock zombie and his dialogue is just filled with all sorts of naughty language which he does use to literally attack you with. Also, if you don't like profanity, you really wouldn't like this game.

OVERALL: Lollipop Chainsaw is a flawed game but it is fun and super stylish. Like I've said, this game isn't for everyone but if you don't take the story too seriously and just want a mindlessly zombie hack and slash good time you'd probably enjoy it.

I purchased this game as a supplement to my 4th graders home school curriculum and we have been playing it regularly for a month or so now. The variation of games and categories could be bigger but at this reasonable price I am happy with the software. The jigsaw puzzles are actually fun as the pieces automatically turn right side up making it easier to complete them with the clock ticking. The trivia sections are varied with multiple choice, point betting and quickest buzz in style. Questions don't seem to repeat but I have had a couple reoccur, even when choosing beyond the easy setting, which actually feels tough at first. We live on an amazing planet and this educational game reminds of us of how fragile and beautiful life is. If you have curious young ones and enjoy multiplayer style quiz games then this is a great addition to your PS3 library. The single player is enjoyable enough but like many quiz games is better with more people.

ok i purchased this game because i like wildlife and learning and what not but this game is kinda ridiculous...i say this because some of the questions are almost impossible to figure out with just the information you are given during the course of the game...i've had to use the internet for some answers to questions...the best part (extreme sarcasm) is when you look for facts on the national geographic website and they don't even match the facts in the game! seriously this is a children's game and some of the questions are incredible! however it does have the learning aspect which is nice and for the most part the information seems to be accurate...good buy not worth the price though...

I don't even know exactly what it does, but my son was really into his PS3, so I probably did, and it probably worked exactly as described. Thats why I'm giving it a 5-star rating. No reason for me to give it less because of my failure to give my response if a timely manner.

It's cool to receive your own turbo controller. Personally I never use the six axis function included; nevertheless it seems well built but on the other hand, the button symbols (X,O...) just washed away during the first week of usage. Now I have black buttons all over the control. Also the keypad tends to get stuck when I press it down, that's a problem because I need to quickly turn off/on it to get it back on track, of course if you're playing COD or Resistance, tell me how valuable are those seconds... they just kill you like 5 five times while waiting...hehehe.

The usb device works fine, not that many troubles as I expected.

The worst controller I've ever purchased and when I emailed the company I never got a reply. This product stopped working in less than two days, if anyone has one that is still working then you're lucky or I was unlucky buying a controller that was made on a Friday, There are several other controllers out there that have better quality control and work longer. I have to say that at first I thought it was the batteries but after the batteries were replaced twice this still met with negative results. I also emailed that company and that also met with the results that's unacceptable in my book, this controller was placed in the box it came in good luck if you buy it and if it fails good luck contacting DreamGear. I was surprised when this arrived it does work fine, but note that it uses normal batteries (two AAA I think), not rechargeable like the more expensive controller included with the Sony PS3 game console.

But works fine and is very acceptable for a 2nd controller where you don't want a wire. Does use up one of the USB connections on the console when in use.

This controller is great. It does what it's supposed to do but the only reason why it was 4 stars overall was because the blue led is located in the front of the controller which can be blinding if you play at night like I do. No problems with connections as others pointed out. It's best value for the price.

The controller is great.. My boyfriend loved it considering the Raiders are his favorite team... Die-hard fan.. poor thing (they always lose) .. but the only thing he didn't like is that this controller is battery operated and you can't charge it like you can the regular PS3 controllers. So grab some rechargeable batteries and you're good to go, otherwise you'll be buying a lot of AA batteries.

I own the previous (6) Harry Potter games, all on PS2, and I really enjoyed them and I've played them quite a few times. I was very excited to receive Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (although I wasn't too thrilled that it wasn't being released on PS2 only because I didn't want to split up the games) and I pre-ordered it as soon as it became available. I received it on it's release day and started playing it right away. My very first impression was "I'm not going to really like this game" and boy was I right!

I knew that Harry would no longer be in Hogwarts and that he would be on the run and that this was his most challenging year yet, but what I didn't account for was the game being extremely challenging!

During the game you uncover around every corner death eaters, snatchers and dementors. Plus I've come across a couple other creatures so far such as spiders and doxies. It's not so bad to defeat the death eaters and snatchers when there's only a couple of them attacking you but when they start coming at you on all sides, it gets very difficult and not only that but when you defeat one, two more take it's place! The most frustrating part of the game, I think, is when you have to do these side missions where you have to save muggles and muggle born witches and wizards. I'm not going to go into a lot of detail just incase some of you decide to play this game (I know I hate spoilers). The game is a lot like a first person shooting game. You have your invisibility cloak and it becomes very clear that it's hard to not be discovered while wearing it; because not only do you got to make sure you don't bump into anyone you also need to always keep an eye on your stealth meter and make sure it doesn't go into the red zone otherwise you lose the cloak and you'll be discovered! During game play you can't ever let your guard down and this I don't like! There are items you can pick up to collect throughout the game (deathly hallows symbols, potterwatch programs, copies of the quibbler and the daily prophet) if you can find them but it makes it very difficult to even try to find these items when you have spells being thrown at you from every direction! There is one good thing about this game though...while there is no health meter, you do know when your health is diminishing because the colors on the screen will start to dim (when the colors turn to grey that's when you're about to die) and when that happens you need to run for cover till the colors on the screen are bright again. So this makes it easier not to die, but believe me you still can if you cannot find cover fast enough!

You have quite a few selections of spells and potions you can use to defend yourself. You only start off with one spell but throughout the game you get more of them the further you progress. The spells you get are:

stupefy

expelliarmus

petrificus totalus

confuno

confrigo

impedimenta

expulso

protego

expect patronum

wingardium leviosa which can also be used to levitate items in front of you to block attacks

You also receive a spell called "four-points" which is very helpful because it guides you where you need to go so you never get lost!

The potions you pick up that you can be thrown at enemies to defend yourself are:

garrotting gas

doxycide

peruvian instant darkness powder

exploding potion this potion I can't seem to ever throw at an enemy without it exploding on me!

You can also pick up these other potions that will restore your health, restore wounds, etc. Those potions are:

felix felicis

strengthening solution

murlap essence

fire-protection potion

blood replenishing potion

elixir of life

polyjuice potion

A lot of these spells and potions you have heard of in other Harry Potter games and movies but there are a few that's never been mentioned before. Some spells and potions work better on different enemies, so it's always good to experiment.

The graphics in this game are poor for it being a PS3 game! The characters all look dirty and foggy! The volume fluxiates a lot, so you have to keep turning it up and down. You have to keep turning the volume up to hear what the character's are saying and then having to turn it down again when an emeny attacks because it will scare the crap out of you!

I believe I'm only 1/2 way through the game so far. I've got to keep stopping game play because it get's too frustrating! I have to be in the right mood now to play this game so it will most likely be awhile before I complete it. I pray that part 2 will be a lot better than this game!

Let me get straight to the point. This game blows and is in my estimation, an early candidate for worst game of the year. The history of Harry Potter hasn't always been a good one. They have ranged from fair to acceptable, but have never really reached the heights of imagination from the rich source material that they came from. However, you could not deny that they were each good, solid efforts with the next iteration improving from the one before it. Then comes Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1. Gone are the free roaming explorations of Hogwarts. This time Harry and friends are on the run. And with this one bold plot course in the book, goes any semblence of a decent Harry Potter game. What developer EA Bright Light did so well in the previous game in terms of sandbox gaming is now replaced by a clunky third person shooter. This gameplay change could have been a welcomed divergence to the previous games if only were the mechanics not so broken.

You start off playing as Harry with one main spell that eventually swells to half a dozen or so while progressing through the game. I'm okay with the variety, yet I never found myself using anything other than the stupify spell which seemed more effective against enemies. There is a cover mechanic yet good luck finding a barrier to hide behind that will stick and keep you from getting hit with spell projectiles. The lock on mechanic is slippery and you'll often find yourself casting spells at empty air when it was focused on an enemy a second ago. Even more odd is that in some parts of the game, the view will shift from a third person perspective to a first person perspective without any rhyme or reason other than the developers trying to shake up the dull gameplay. There was one instance in the game that literally had me tearing my hair out. Harry is hidden under his invisibility cloak and must sneak around to accomplish a mission without being discovered. Once the mission is over, Harry must then sneak back to the original point in which he started in order to trigger a cut scene. The difficulty level then spikes and all of a sudden you're being discovered without anyone near you. I must have tried this level a dozen or so times before I finally got past it, yet I have no idea if it was due to my skill or just chance.

The graphics are equally bad. Though Harry, Hermione and Ron look detailed enough, they inhabit a world of muddy textures and dull environments. The cut scenes seemed rushed and unfinished and failed to stitch together any semblence of a coherent plot. Harry is given a mission to find the remaining Horcruxes, yet he then must partake in side missions that involve him sneaking out of a dragon's lair (don't ask how he got there), rescuing muggles and freeing captured wizards. Weird.

I never expected a great Harry Potter game, but I could always expect a competent one that offered me a couple hours of fun as a fan of the series. Deathly Hallows completely flipped the formula and instead offered a game so ugly and crippled by its gameplay mechanics that it's a shame that the best book in the series could not serve as inspiration for a good game. There is a couple of months for the developer to correct their mistakes before the second part of this game is released in July of 2011 but I'm not holding my breath.

Buy Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 Now

This game was quite exciting for me to play, especially considering I got it almost a week in advance from Amazon from pre ordering it.

When I started it up, I wasn't too impressed with the graphics. Even with my PS3 connected with an HDMI cable to my TV, the quality is not as clear as I would have hoped (like in games such as Uncharted). It does get a little pixelated in some places.

Gameplay in this game has become more Call of Duty-esque (or basically a first person shooter type thing), where you are basically fighting hundreds (literally) of Snatchers and Death Eaters. And this gets extremely tedious when every level basically has you fighting off Snatchers, Dementors or Death Eaters where it wouldn't even make sense (since they aren't really supposed to know Harry's there). Yes, COD is full of enemies to fight off like this as well, but that makes it more interesting and believable. Here, you would think you would be fighting off at most 5 people in one area but each time you beat them, more come along.

Also, there were some missions that didn't make much sense on what to do, so you just have to interpret what the mission is and do it somehow. The dragging storyline and additions of some missions seem to be there just to make the game longer because of the movie's cut. Maybe the games should have been independent from the movies (like in the first three). They reveal the scenes that are going to be in the movie and try to follow it too much, so splitting the game does not make as much sense as splitting the movie into two parts.

Unfortunately, the repetitive gameplay makes this a little boring and just fun for the little Harry Potter-ness and the cutscenes.

I've only played this game for an hour and I'm already tired of it.

For starters, the cutscenes are incredibly rushed. I wasn't expecting some huge, theatrical production that takes you through every single page of the book but you are hurried through almost each and every scene. As a result, the story feels disjointed. Just when you think you're going to wander around a certain area a little while, you are pushed into the next. It's all very forgettable. I can't stress just how horribly done the story is except to leave you with this example after leaving Bill and Fleur's wedding (which you never really attend at all), you are directed to a cafe after a boring and ridiculous "mission" that wasn't in either the book or the movie and is completely unnecessary. As soon as you enter the cafe, the drama starts and then you're back out of the cafe. You only ever utilize the back 1/4 of the cafe, it's an entirely wasted "area". The whole thing takes maybe like 4 minutes and that's only because the battle itself takes 3 minutes.

This leads me to the battles themselves. You spend the vast majority of your time fighting the aim function and the rest of your time spamming R2 until your finger cramps up. On more than one occasion, I wound up missing my targets completely even though my wand was pointed directly at their chest and they were taking up almost half of my screen. I also agree with the others who mentioned the arsenal of spells and potions you are given I have no idea what works on what the best so I stick with whatever the heck is already selected because selecting anything else is a pain. At least the spell wheel (your menu of spells) stops the battle so you can look but it's clunky. I thought I had changed spells during one battle only to realize I hadn't because you have to press the directional key towards the spell you want and then close the wheel before letting go of the directional key or the spell deselects. Selecting potions doesn't seem to stop the battle so you have to cycle through them while trying not to die and on that note I see no health bar! The only indication you are given of losing health is the screen turning black and white and too late because by that time, you may as well kiss your butt goodbye, you're already nearly dead. I don't see any indication of my level or how I leveled either. It's meaningless and linear; you level when you are programmed to level, not once you've acquired a certain amount of experience. I imagine they only added in levels to make it seem like you are accomplishing something when, in reality, they are useless.

That's just the *mechanics* of the fights but almost as bad is the repetition. You fight one wave of whatever (Death Eaters, Snatchers, etc.) and then another comes. And then another followed by one more for good measure... It's boring and you find yourself wondering when it'll all end so you can move on already (and so you can give your poor index finger a rest!).

Currently, I'm parked at some "mini missions" that, yet again, make no sense. Hermione and Ron are off doing their thing while I'm helping Muggle-borns and, no, the "mini missions" are no better than the rest of the game. Once again, you are left to figure things out on your own. The one I chose to start with (you must do 3) has you battling a bunch of Snatchers to save the Muggle-borns from being taken captive. You basically get 5 "lives" if 5 Muggle-borns are taken, it's game over but do they tell you anything else? Nope. Actually, they don't even start by telling you that you can't let 5 get taken, you figure that out once the first is captured and you're told as much on screen. Otherwise, you have no clue what's going on. Is it a timed event where you have X minutes to kill Y Snatchers? Or is it a defensive sort of mission where you have to defend the Muggle-borns for X minutes? Or are there certain Muggleborns that need saved while the others help you fight? I still don't know and I barely finished it with 4/5 Muggle-borns captured. And now that I think on it more I realize I don't even know if I could have died during that mission because, as I already mentioned, you aren't shown any kind of health bar...

Now I'm just sitting here wondering if I can turn the game off without losing any progress because I can't remember if the game saved recently or not. I'm also wondering if I even care...

TL;DR the story is rushed and disjointed; parts are added that are unnecessary and stupid; the controls are clunky and the battles are too long; your arsenal of spells and potions go almost entirely unused; the player is left to figure entirely too much out on their own; no health bar indicating remaining health; "leveling up" is meaningless, especially since you don't even acquire experience or any real stat upgrades besides being told that "your spells are stronger now"
