this is the first of the soul calibur games that i own...i only got this version because you can play as DARTH VADER..How cool is that ! the graphics/enviroments are stunning to say the least and shine on the ps3..the gameplay is fast and intense.. sure the storyline might be weak but this is a fighting game..so ill let that slide...

i know some people that have the xbox360 version with yoda..which is great and all but for some reason the ps3 version is a bit superior.. sure people might gripe because you can kick everybodys butt as vader..sure its true but there are moves you can master as well ..also there is another little surprise you can also unlock vader's secret apprentice from the force unleashed games also.. nice bonus.. but going up against him in arcade mode is a pain..

soul calibur 4 is a great addition to your ps3 library..i found this on sale for 10 bucks brand new..not a bad deal..

I tend to hear people call this particular Soul Calibur the worst, that the combat is poor or lacking, that the additions from III are negligible or worsen the experience. I'm not a particularly hardcore fighting game player so perhaps I don't know as well as others, but for the most part, I find this the second best title in the series gameplay wise after II. So... well, I'd recommend this title before Soulcalibur V to anyone who isn't just interested in the Create a Soul mode. Even then, while not as robust as V's, IV's is serviceable enough to create some very interesting characters.

Is a good game to play, it is similar to the soul calibur 2 game i owned. A lot of the old characters still have the same moves with a couple of new ones. If you like this kind of fighting style then this game if for you. Don't buy this if u are into mortal kombat, marvel vs capcom kind of fighting. This is a little more confusing on the move list and not a lot of chain combos.

I always get really bored of fighting games, but I love the detail that goes into the Soul Calibur series. I like the character customization and all of the unlockables. Another good story mode and bonus characters. I just personally get bored of these games after a while and pick it up a month later or so. I'm more of a FPS/Platformer/Racing gamer.

Best product for PS3 on-line gaming. A lot of people scoff at it's high price, but I've crunched the numbers. I've used Motorola H500 (terrible), Motorola H550 (good/ above average), & Jabra BT125 (good). Besides the Jabra and Madcatz there aren't any blue tooth headsets that are cheaper. By the time you purchase a cell headset you've already spent over $60.00, this device is designed specifically for the PS3. Works flawlessly and the volume, on/ off, mute functions are the easiest to use during game play. Highly recommend this headset, if you don't get it for on-line play I'll enjoy reaping the benefits of your poor play due to a shoddy mic. Oh, and for all the jokers saying "go to e-bay, you're getting robbed in price"...buyer beware. I've been through two fake headsets that totally bent me over due to e-bay. I had to purchase straight from the store, Amazon, or CDW.

In using the Logitech Wireless Vantage headset with my PS3 over the past 6 months I'm happy with the performance of the unit though I believe that improvements are needed with the design.

First the good; the Vantage is well built out of sturdy plastics that feel "right". I've inadvertently dropped the unit on a few occasions without any problems or damage. The ear piece is comfortable enough to use during extended periods of online gaming and offers a crisp, clear sound. The microphone though somewhat short (mine only reaches to my cheek) picks up my voice while canceling most background noise. This is the major advantage of this headset; as anyone who has played online games can attest to the annoyance of heavy breathing and constant static being transmitted over games. At least using the Vantage you won't "be that guy." Another major advantage of the unit is the 12 hour battery life. While I can't say that I've ever timed the unit to see if the claim is true. I often go several days or even a week without charging the unit with almost daily use. When the unit does need to be charged, I've found that a quick 3045 minute connection to the included charger adapter is sufficient for a full charge.

A few problems with the overall design and ergonomics of the Vantage keep me from giving it a better rating. The primary problem is with the headsets actual headband. It's made of a somewhat soft, pliable plastic but is completely unadjustable. Logitech decided to rely solely on the flexibility of the plastic band. Unfortunately that could make the unit troublesome for anyone with a smaller or larger than average head. Additionally I've found that the location of the headband coupled with the weight of ear piece can become uncomfortable. That can be somewhat offset by the fact that the headset can be quickly switched to the opposite ear. Another issue with the design of the headband is that it is very uncomfortable to use with eyeglasses due to the location of the headband. In fact, I'd strongly advise anyone who uses eyeglasses to stay away from this headset.

I've read at least one review here at Amazon that claims the Vantage interferes with the Sony SIXAXIS or Dualshock 3 controllers. I'm happy to report that I've never once experienced interference of any sort with this headset. Also, besides the first initial pairing of the headset to my PS3 I've never had to repeat the process.

As I stated previously, the Vantage is a strong performer with some aesthetic and ergonomic flaws that keep it from being great.

This was everything I wanted in the headset. It is very convenient. I don't have to deal with any wire and its adjustments are very flexible. You can put it in either ear and adjust the mic lower or higher to get it closer to your mouth. Very expensive, but its still worth it if you could afford it.

I haven't heard any lag, don't have to resync the headset everytime, good audio quality, people hear me great, easy to use, great design (you can use it on whichever ear you like. logitech always puts out the best headsets...i bet this is going to be the headset for socom...thats why its not as readily available everywhere.

I was a little discouraged when I found out it was not adjustable but it allows for different positioning on your head while rotating the mic. I find that moving the band to the top of the head much like you would see a phone service rep wear is the most comfortable. I highly recommend it and hell if you don't like it then you can always return it.

I don't know...I hoped for better. It's not completely bad, but there is absolutely nothing ground breaking or unique here.

I'm a fan of the 2009 JJ flick, I'm a huge Trek fan overall, and a casual gamer. I was really looking forward to this. In fact, I've been waiting quite a long time (as many of us have) for a really great Star Trek game...especially given we've had to endure the likes of Shattered Universe, Legacy, Conquest, and games of that nature for so long. Having the current regime involved in the creation of this game really did give me hope.

Right off the bat, I can say that I enjoyed the first "Elite Force" MUCH more than this, overall.

The good: Plot/story, voice casting

The not-so-good: Pretty much everything else, lol...sorry. Graphics/CG are not really at a high level here. It's sort of high end PS2/low end PS3 quality. Controls and combat are clunky. There are a fair amount of software glitches (Gorn aliens stuck in a wall, Spock kinda walking above the ground, that kind of thing). I guess after putting so much time into Drake's Fortune/Red Dead Redemption and games of this nature that are very immersive as far as gameplay and graphics, this game really comes off flat to me. And a part of me is annoyed that this was allowed to happen and get released like this, especially given the anticipation surrounding the next movie.

And yet, I can't say it's completely "awful". It's not. I fully admit that having these characters, voiced by the real actors, makes it kinda sorta playable. It mainly involves shooting, combined with puzzle solving involving your tricorder. So...to each his/her own, I guess. In hindsight, I might have waited for more reviews and not spent $60 on this as a new release. Not worth it. So, the wait for a truly great ST game continues for me.

Perhaps LEGO Star Trek swoops in to save us? I actually think that might be the way to go moving ahead. Say what you will, but the Lego games are an awesome format. I think it would work.

Anyway--have fun, everyone. FWIW

The game was quite a bit of fun. After finishing it, I do plan to play it again at least 1 more time. I was also surprised that the game was as long as it is. I do feel like I got my money's worth out of it considering I payed $60 on it. I see no reason for a Star Trek fan not to buy this for only $40 now.

I enjoyed reading the items you can find in game, and hunting for audio logs is addictive. The writing for the audio logs are quite dull and don't really add anything new to the game, but the information about race traits and weaponry is interesting enough, since they are written in a creative way. I also caught myself with a smile on my face from time to time during some of the more exciting missions.

The cover system works enough to use it, however moving from location to location under cover is a bit too awkward to use the way it was intended. I found myself just using "stealth" to move around and using cover only when there were quite a bit of enemies directly in front of me.

Enemy AI had enough variety in it to add variety to encounters. Some mobs would hide and take pot shots, others would just lumber towards you spraying their weapons, while others would try to rush you while your under cover.

I have 3 gripes with the game: Firt, I wish they could have made the tricorder give more misc. data about things in the world. Right off the bat I wanted to scan Spock's harp or check out some things in the environment. However, the tricorder seemed a bit too limited (Trekkies especially love their random anecdotes). My second gripe is the lack of an instruction manual. When I looked it up on line, it was only 2 or 3 pages long. I don't see why a manual that small could not be included in a game that cost me $60. My last gripe is the biggest one. The texture detail in the game is very low for a PS3. I realized that all of my games with the 3D icon on front have very poor texture detail. I don't believe that a game should look bad for the sake of the vast minority of gamers that utilize a 3D monitor. From now on, I will think twice about any game with 3D support for that very reason.

I should say that I did not run into any bugs in game, for which I am extremely grateful. Namco Bandai seems to be doing pretty good with releasing working games. I did have an AI issue playing solo. Spock continued to walk face first into the same wall until I restarted from the last save point. However, in this day and age of buggy games, I don't consider this 1 small issue worth complaining about.

I would be very excited if the game had DLC sometime in the future. I get a feeling that that will not happen, but I would be very happy if I were proven wrong.

Although I enjoyed the game solo, I can only expect the game to be an even better experience if you have a friend over who enjoys the genre too.

I was really looking forward for this game. I was hoping you would be able to sit in the captains chair and command the Enterprise in battle. There is one battle scene and its short. The graphics are ok. The voices of the characters done by the actors from the movie is a plus. If it wasnt Star Trek I would probably have rated it much lower. Im also tired of games you finish in a day. Hopefully the next installment will use the Enterprise more. Who doesnt want to sit in the Captains chair and order photon torpedoes? I guess I would rate this 2 and 1/2 stars. If you are a Star Trek fan there is enough to keep you interested. If not dont bother.

I was skeptical about this game. I rented it for a day and decided I'd find out if it was a bomb or a win. Well, I started playing it at 3 pm and finished around 7 am. I was able to complete it in that time and I wasn't forcing myself to play, I was hooked (though the initial levels were def. the least fun, the game builds momentum).

For me, it was a story and I had to see what would happen and how it would end. Controls seemed unimpressive at first, but by midnight . . . everything was second nature.

Pros:

1) It really felt like a mini movie or a TV episode or something. I like both classic and Abrams Trek. I want more of the Chris Pine cast and this was a little bonus beyond the 2 movies that have been made. I am really impressed with how some effort was made to include a ref. from this game into the new movie. It makes the game feel more "real."

2) Like the new movies, this game takes from the old show and alters it but at the same time pays homage to the basics. Some loyalists to classic trek may complain, but I love these moments where something is similar and different at the same time.

3) I felt the game made good use of star trek technology and science. I liked how the tricorder functioned (its very similar to Batman's "detective mode" from the Arkham games). I liked collecting samples of fauna, alien dna, etc. I think it's good that they remember that Trek is about exploring (and studying what is found).

4) I'd read that the A.I. is bad. I didn't find that to be the case. It seemed like some of the best A.I. I've ever played around. I played as Kirk and Spock was an A.I. partner. Spock wasn't in my way, which is what I dread most about A.I. in games. He was good at avoiding getting shot at and he even blasted quite a few enemies for me (that really impressed me, I am used to the computer character basically being dead weight, not the case here, this computer makes the effort).

Cons:

1) Stuff does get repetitive. You can expect to "pry doors" a lot with the same lines exchanged between characters over and over. The good news is that these sort of things make it easy to "summon" your partner when he is off somewhere else.

2) The dialogue is a bit rough at times, but it's good at times too. But hey, it's a video game. It's just cool that they have all the actual actors in this!

3) Maybe the graphics aren't quite top of the line. But I did catch myself thinking, at times, that things looked a lot like one of the movies during moments where I was in control of the character.

Want Star Trek Discount?

When I got this one I wasn't sure to expect. I had seen some reviews that said the game was ok (actual reviews, not the ones faked by the dev team), and others that put this on the board as yet another terrible movie tie in game. When I started playing I actually found myself enjoying the game. I wasn't plagued by some of the bad AI problems that some people were complaining, though there were a couple times when the AI controlled character didn't help me shoot some of the enemies as much as I wanted it to. The Enemy AI is ok if a little basic (it's a bit improved on the hard difficulty), usually sticking to finding a piece of cover and shooting at you from that cover the whole time never changing positions, trying to flank you, or rushing headlong into you. I did find that the controls to interact with certain objects did feel clunky at times, but overall handle fairly well. The definite saving grace was that I actually thought the story was fairly well written, and it was nice to have all the main actors from the movies come back to voice their characters, and actually deliver some enjoyable performances. Furthermore it is a new and unique story meant to take place between the reboot film and the new Into Darkness. I will say that the short segment where you control the Enterprise was disappointing and graphics aren't as good on the console versions as they are on PC. I recommend buying this at $40 or under.

I remember Grand Theft Auto when Liberty City was Brocklyn, Kings, the Brix, Manhattan Island, and Staten Island. I remember when they changed Liberty City to Portland Island, Staunton Island, and Shoreside Vales for Grand Theft Auto III. The graphics were better. Now they've changed Liberty City to Broker, Dukes, Bohan, and Algonquin Island. The graphics are photo realistic. They shouldn't have changed Liberty City in the first place. Besides that it's good. I took a white getting used to the cover system after being used to the smart aim. The driving's unrealistically bad. And the police officers last unrealistcally longer than they did in previous games. Niko Bellic has nothing on CJ or Tommy Vercetti!

I bought this game after several months of going "I really want this!" watching my boyfriend play. I decided to one-up him by ordering the special edition and having it sent over to the states. It comes with some of the best features I've seen for a game like this, and is most definitely worth the money. The only downside is that the DLC voucher doesn't work on US consoles, but it's not enough to take away from the overall purchase.

I had 3 options to play my Xbox at work...

Option 1: Capture Device/Laptop Screen-

This was desirable to me because it removed the need to buy an additional screen and haul around extra gear. So I looked to things like Easy Cap, Dazzle, and Hauppauge capture devices to play Xbox on my laptop screen. Unfortunately, using a capture card and viewing the game on a laptop screen experiences lag, and in the case of the Easy Cap and Dazzle, a 480p resolution. The clincher for me was the lag.

Option 2: Small 15 Inch HDTV-

This option seemed like the next best choice. I would need to buy a larger bag to take both the laptop, the Xbox, the HDTV and whatnot's to work. This option is definitely viable, but after the price of the bag and television I would end up paying close to what the G155 already costs, albeit less. Additionally, the Xbox wouldn't have felt as safe and setup and takedown of everything would have been more cumbersome.

Option 3: The Gaems G155 Mobile System-

This appeared like the best of the three options for me. In essence it was an HDTV within a container that seemed both organized and sturdy, so I ended up buying the G155.

**************************************************************************************************************************************

After purchasing and using the G155 here are a few areas of improvement for the device...

Dead Pixels-

As with many new screens there are a few dead pixels, but generally I don't notice them, although it's not ideal.

Loose Seam-

Sometimes the case comes loose at the middle, near the handle while I carry it. I feel that this would be solved if there was a latch mechanism installed there, like in a briefcase.

Carry Strap-

I wish I had a backpack or messenger bag that was large enough for the G155 unit to fit into. I'd like the actual case to be hidden from view and be more protected from scratches and scuffs. Also, a backpack's or messenger bag's carrying straps would be very nice as opposed to carrying a heavy load with just the current handle. I'm aware that Gaems has stated that you can attach your own strap to it and they might be making one of their own for the unit, however carrying the unit completely immersed in a bag would be ideal for me, although I haven't found a bag large enough for the unit to fit into.

Price-

I bought the G155 off Amazon at $270. If this unit sold for $200 or even $250 it would have been an easier purchase. I understand that they have to consider the bottom line and profits but a $200-250 unit would be more convincing for me as a consumer.

[Those are my only beefs with the G155 as of this writing. Unlike some owners, mine will be used extensively in the future, so we'll see how well it holds up for me over time. Hopefully it won't break down easily with a lot of use.]

**************************************************************************************************************************************

Now on to the things I love about the G155...

Xbox Stays Cool-

After hours of continuous gameplay my Xbox does not overheat at all within the G155.

Protective-

My Xbox feels much safer in the hard plastic case compared to carrying it around in a normal bag.

Compact/Organized-

All of my cords, controllers, and pretty much everything I need easily packs into one gaming environment. [Note: I bought a small CD sleeve to carry my game discs within the G155.]

Mobility-

I can leave my Xbox in the case and hook it up to my large TV at home without removing it, then just close it and take it to work when needed.

Screen-

The HD 720p screen is clear and gorgeous to look at and there is no lag whatsoever.

**************************************************************************************************************************************

In summary of my 3 mobile console gaming options...

Option 1: Capture Device/Laptop Screen-

I do not recommend this as a sole way to play consoles on the go. The lower resolution and lag times are not cool.

Option 2: Small 15 Inch HDTV-

Having done something similar to this in the past, it is definitely a viable option, based on if you're looking for something less expensive and your personal tastes.

Option 3: The Gaems G155 Mobile System-

This, I believe, is the best all-around option for mobile console gaming, or if you want an extra small television in your home where you can play Xbox or PlayStation. I'm very glad I purchased it and would recommend the Gaems G155.

Hope this helps perspective buyers.

[Update: I've now used the Gaems G155 for six months, and on a regular basis. It's held up great, and I've had no additional problems with it.]

Our production company often travels for business and PSP, 3DS etc. is fine since hotel TVs tend to be older SD sets so I just got use to having to leave my favorite games like COD and Street fighter IV behind till I got home. We saw this screen running at E3 2011 and it was fantastic! I had mine on pre-order ever since we got back into the office and it just showed up today. Well built, holds my Xbox 360 pefectly, no overheating, it's great! I WAS looking at other HORI screens for around $250 but they just click on top of the system, they don't close up with into a case with a handle. This product is also great for those in the MLG and NEED to make sure they have an HD screen everywhere they go. I'll definately be keeping mine and using it for a long LONG time.... the only draw back is that the LED screen is a bit on the sharp side (hey GAEMS, please add sharpness control!) but it's still the best thing on the market.

Loud Speakers

locking latches

brightness control

PS3 controllers fit in the case.

thick nonslip rubber on bottom surfaces

plastic shell needs a luggage strap for a more secure hold.

lock latches are plastic

LCD is too sharp, this cannot be adjusted in the menu

xbox 360 controllers will not fit in the case.

Glossy screen finish

Notes

Never make the mistake of placing this unit upside with a console in it.

The screen will be fine but you could damage your consoles disc drive. =(

I just received my unit yesterday, and I have been playing on it non-stop since it arrived (with a few hours of sleep). The detail/resolution of the screen is great, and there is no lag from the screen when I play online. Even my blue-ray movies on my PS3 look great! Also I have ever so thankful for the Hard plastic case. When I closed it up for the night, my dog knocked it off the small table I had it set on(I was soo mad!). When I opened it up I expected the worst, but absolutely nothing inside was damaged! My PS3 started right back up, and the screen was not cracked, not even a scratch, crack, or dent on the case.

I will definitely be more careful in the future (Bad Dog). Thank you GAEMS for making sure a great product!

Well after watching almost every video review on youtube and reading articles all day i finally decided to make the jump and purchase this bad boy. i love it! this has been one of the best investments i've made in a while. i'm in the military and this is going to make deployments so much more bearable. i know it's pricey, it only displays 720p but in all honesty it's well worth it. if you have the money to burn and are looking for something convenient and something to keep that gamer in your life busy then buy this. my xbox 360 slim fits perfect and i've been playing skyrim on it for about 2 days and the graphics are amazing, great resolution. speakers aren't that great but i've got me some nice audio technicas that work perfectly. i'm sure the price will go down soon but i had to have this, seeing how deployment is coming soon.

Just go buy the standard game instead of this. The lightcycle model is made out of a very cheap-looking plastic. There's a hidden button on the lower back of the rider that makes the bike light up when you press it but it's still not that impressive looking. It's painted like a Hallmark ornament. Seriously, the $15 toy Spinmaster lightcycles are superior to it. Even the box it was packaged in is far more impressive to look at. Sideshow Collectibles used to make some really good high-end collectibles but this isn't "high-end" at all except in price only and the quality is definitely not worth paying the extra $70 for even though the $10 movie coupon kind of softens the blow. I regret buying this and will try to sell it on ebay to recoup some of the loss.

Click Here to Read More Reviews >>

Lightcycle Review: I've uploaded some images of the actual Lightcycle collectible, as it was really hard for me to gauge whether or not this was a worthwhile item or not. Hopefully, these images will help others decide. The collectible is not nearly as bad as many have made it out to be. It's a mixture of black rubber-like components & black plastic. Obviously, since it's representing something that doesn't have any real texture (in the movie), it's not going to be loaded with detail.

Having waited to get this until the price dropped, I'd say that $80 is a good price point for this. I would understand how some might have felt burned for paying $130. But, even then, I would have to say that it's far more 'adult' a collectible than the toy Lightcycle, which didn't seem that great to me. Besides, you can turn on the light on the Tron Evolution Lightcycle and leave it on for display, whereas it seemed to me that the toy is a press-and-it-lights (temporarily) event.

Yes, you heard that right: it DOES light-up. There is a soft-switch well-hidden button in the lower-back of the back of the rider. When lit, it spotlights the front wheel, the engine, and the rider's disc. Now, it would have been ideal if the entire length of blue lines lit like in the movie, ..and maybe really tops if the blue in the display lit-up (neither is true). But, for what it is, it's decent. Certainly, being a big Tron Legacy fan, I'm glad I got it ...and a bit perturbed at all the negative reviews that really slammed this product.

Game Review: Having bought the non-collector copy of the game (as well) months back when it released, I've played through a good amount of it to give a fair assessment. It's not the best game ever; it's certainly not the worst movie tie-in ever, either. When it's good, it's great. When it's bad, it can been insanely frustrating. The biggest problem are the wall-jumping sections that require you to make a jump/back-jump precisely correct ... and if not you fall & de-rezz. And fall & de-rezz. And fall & de-rezz. Over and over until you get it right.

But, when it's on-point, it's a load of fun. The disc-throwing action is fluid and fast, and you feel "like Tron" (even though you play a different character). The cut-scenes are a little rough; not quite up to the par of the rest of the game's graphics, but they're generally short and/or mostly skippable.

Online multiplayer is definitely the high-point of this game, although (bummer) multiplayer can't be engaged in 3D mode. On that note: 3D really adds nicely to feel of this game, bringing it close to the that of Tron Legacy (for those fortunate to have seen the movie in 3D). This is also an element I was worried about. Having just recently got a 3D TV, and having read a review somewhere online that 3D causes severe slowdown. --Not true. I've found that the game runs just as smooth in 3D as not, and it's a very cool additional feature for this game.

the game itself is not to bad to play , like most games are at first , after a bit of time it became easier but i felt it lacked that ' play me now ' factor . i soon put it away to collect dust.

as for the collectors edition , it is a must have , even though the model is poor quality but it looks kinda ok , i wouldn't pay a huge amount for it , if you like futuristic ( might be wrong spelling ) looking models it would suit that type of collection , but don't expect a highly detailed model , this hasn't got it

Anarchy Reigns was originally set to launch in North America early-mid 2012, but it was then delayed until 2013, even though the game was finished. While the game was really close to cancellation for North America, a date was finally set, but it was a long wait to endure. However, the wait is over and Anarchy Reigns is here, but was it worth it? Two words: Hell yes!

Anarchy Reigns is a 3D brawler at its core that combines brawling and fighting like God Hand or Fist of the North Star, hence my comparison to those games. But the difference is that Anarchy Reigns has the unique and quirky flavor of Platinum and Sega games. While everything that makes a Platinum game their own is on display, it also feels like one of those gems you'd play on the Sega Dreamcast back in the day.

The single player campaign has two interwoven plots, offering two different characters to play as (Jack Cayman, Leonhardt "Leo" Victorion), which allows you to play in two different ways with two different takes. This gives you replayability for the single player content. Speaking of the single player, you're given hub world environments to roam around, beat up bad guys, collect things, and just have fun in-between the story and side missions, so it's not just a straight up linear mission-to-mission game, but it's also not a large open world, just hub environments that give you a little more sense of freedom.

The other part of the package is the multiplayer, which is truly unique and unlike anything else out there. It's fast and hectic, but it all performs admirably online and hasn't been plagued with issues or anything from my experience. While there are some incredibly skilled players out there, I'm not one of them yet, but it's even fun to play when you're losing. It's just so different, which leads me to believe this'll maintain a community for a good while. There are a bunch of different modes to enjoy in the multiplayer package, which includes the established modes like DM and TDM. You can choose from 16 different characters in multiplayer, all of which have their own fighting styles, signature kill moves, etc.

Also, since I haven't mentioned it yet, I must say that the combat in this game is awesome. You could compare this game to Madworld, but it's really a lot deeper and more satisfying in terms of the combat. It's almost impossible to say how it feels, as it feels entirely different depending on who you're playing as, but if you're playing as Jack Cayman, the game's combat is meaty and focused on more of a brawler style, but you can play as one of the more quick and agile characters in multiplayer, which includes Bayonetta if you pre-ordered the game elsewhere. Hopefully SEGA will release Bayonetta as DLC sometime in the near future for everyone else.

As far as the graphics go, Anarchy Reigns isn't the most beautiful game or anything, but it gets the job done. Also, lip syncing doesn't sync up perfectly since the mouths animate with the Japanese VO and they just put English VO in without reanimating the mouths on the characters. The animation work, though, is spectacularly well done, and I don't want to imagine the work they put into all 16 characters.

Anarchy Reigns is a new IP that's fresh and interesting, as it offers something new to gamers who are sick and tired of the status quo. This is a ridiculously fun game that offers a meaty single player with two campaigns, an online multiplayer that isn't an FPS, and just a load of fun for anyone wanting some originality. It certainly has its comparisons to God Hand (Anarchy Reigns developers worked on this), Fist of the North Star (which hasn't had a good game), and Madworld (Same developer, one of the same main characters), but this does it so well and brings it to the online arena, allowing you to share the fun with other gamers worldwide. Bravo, Platinum Games, bravo!

One of the most memorable, and simultaneously one of the stupidest, games of the 1990's was Data East's "Two Crude Dudes" (known in Japan under the equally as moronic title, "Crude Buster.") It focused on two steroid-riddled macho men punching, kicking and burping their way across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. In today's gaming marketplace, a game like that wouldn't succeed. Nor would any of the other legendary 90's brawlers, with their outlandish characters, ridiculous assortment of enemies, and simplistic narratives.

But deep down, many gamers look back to the good old days when you didn't need complex moral dilemmas and yet another new, complicated RPG mechanic slapped onto a game to be great, and wish a game would come along with all the charm of yesterday and the polish of today. Platinum Games, easily one of the best developers of the past decade, has heard those wishes. Now, like a line of code from the 90's put through a contemporary processor, "Anarchy Reigns" has exploded onto the gaming landscape. If you like video games, or just like having fun, then you should pay attention.

A follow-up to 2009's fun but deeply flawed "MadWorld", Platinum's newest game once again puts you in the steel-toed boots of Jack Cayman, who has taken to haunting bars and getting into fights within the ruins of Earth. His world takes a turn for the crazy, however, when he bumps heads with a group of Russian special agents who are hunting a man who Cayman has also been pursuing. From here, he gets in all sorts of trouble, whether it's being attacked by the deranged pimp Blacker Baron from "MadWorld" (complete with his sarcastic "partner" Mathilda), or getting aided by a giant man in robotic bull armor known only as Big Bull. Despite some apprehension about whether or not this was a sequel to Jack's previous adventure from fans, let me assure you that this is a true sequel, and it expands upon him as a character more than his previous game ever did.

Aside from the follow-up to "MadWorld", players are also allowed to control pretty-boy Leo, who stars in his very own campaign. As you play through the game, you'll unlock more characters to be used in different modes, and the single-player campaign will put you in control of other characters aside from the one you picked. Anybody to say this game lacked variety on the character front would be sorely mistaken.

What really makes this game stand out isn't its story, though. While the dialogue is top-notch, and keeps you engaged between punching dudes into bloody mush, the real star of this show is the gameplay. Finally, a developer has hearkened back to what made 90's brawlers such compelling affairs. The main combos are somewhat repetitive, but it doesn't really matter when they work so well and cause devastation on an unprecedented scale. If uppercutting a guy into the air, using your motor-power arm to smash him pieces onto the pavement, then whipping out a chainsaw to dismember all of his friends sounds like something that will get old to you, then maybe this isn't the game for you. For the rest of us, the combat is rock-solid, and every punch is immensely satisfying.

If this were merely a great brawler, then it would be a recommended purchase. Platinum, always ready to please, has thrown that idea out the window and decided to combine every genre possible. There are third-person shooting missions that are so much fun, with gunplay so fast, furious and tightly controlled, that you're going to want to play them again. Then there's the racing missions, where you speed around on buggies equipped with flame-throwers, doing laps while running over dozens upon dozens of bad guys. That's not even mentioning the first-person turret sequences, and the ability to hi-jack helicopters before throwing them into the ground for a gigantic explosion. "Anarchy Reigns" decides to be a grab-bag of genres, and unlike most games with this approach (looking at you, "Yakuza: Dead Souls"), it actually works. In fact, it doesn't just work, it excels, and does better than whole games dedicated to just one of those genres.

And the best part about this? It's an open-world game. Jack and Leo run across hub worlds which aren't too cramped, but not too sprawling either. At any given time, you can be bombarded with missiles, flocked by enemies, or stampeded by several foes that are five times larger than the player character. There's even a weather system thrown into the mix, ensuring that every time you roam around the hub world, finding missions and beating up baddies, it's not going to be the same.

Another thing that makes this game special is just how well-done the side missions are. There are no tedious missions, ones that you're forced to replay just to wrack up points for the sole purpose of progressing to the next mission. You'll find yourself wanting to redo some things for a higher score, or just because you want to play them again. The aforementioned racing mission, or a mission which requires you to bash through parasites while being assaulted by a Kraken in a sunken city, come to mind. Platinum has obviously played enough open-world games to know that most side-missions are stale, cut-and-paste affairs, and even the most rudimentary ones in "Anarchy Reigns" are still a bloody good time. You can also replay them as many times as you'd like for point bonuses and such, which is an added pleasure.

These worlds are a pleasure to run around in, too, thanks to how good this game looks. The art direction fully embraces the absurd dialogue and plot points, making a post-apocalyptic dystopia that looks straight out of an early 90's Saturday morning cartoon. The character models are also great, with macho men bulging with veins, buxom ladies with curves and style, and villains that ooze pure evil. A nice little touch is that when you switch hub worlds, the enemies patrolling them change due to being affiliated with a different faction. Little touches like this make the game stand heads-and-shoulders above the rest, and coupled with the raw graphical horsepower Platinum Games has at their disposal, you're left with a game that is perpetually easy on the eyes.

Yet another positive thing about this game is the music. This isn't a "the music is very pleasing to the ears, and fits the game well" compliment, like so many typically are. No, this game has a downright exceptional score, with every mission and side mission, as well as every hub world, possessing a different song. These songs are electronica, rap and rock, predominately, and all top-notch entries into their respective genres. In fact, I'd go a step further to say that the songs from this game could be released as a stand-alone album, with no game as a companion, and do remarkably well. Don't be surprised if the songs from this are stuck in your head for months, nor if you're rocking out to them several years from today.

One little aside I'd like to point out, and this is purely subjective, is that the game is charmingly equal with its approach to the genders of characters. For every woman with double-D's in a skintight catsuit, there's a pretty boy or chiseled badass for the ladies. This seems like a weird thing to compliment a game on, but I really think it's a nice touch from a developer who was (erroneously) accused of sexism with "Bayonetta." Whether this is an answer to those moronic accusations or not, I don't know, but I do think it's pretty nice to see a studio doing this. Both genders should have some pretty faces to look at, in my opinion.

Platinum Games has taken their prowess from years of game design, incorporated elements of several genres into one package, then set them all loose in an ever-shifting open world. With loads of replay value, tons of multiplayer modes, and an always-peaked level of action, "Anarchy Reigns" takes everything we loved about cheesy 90's games and cartoons, then matches them with a game that can stand head-and-shoulders next to current AAA-caliber titles. It's a triumphant return from one of gaming's elite studios, and you owe it to yourself to play it.

Story: 9 (Zany and ridiculous, but intentionally so.)

Gameplay: 10 (Several genres at once, all executed brilliantly, with two campaigns)

Graphics: 9 (Ripped out of a Saturday morning cartoon, and look effing great)

Music: 10 (A bunch of top-notch entries into a bunch of genres)

Overall: 9.5 (A truly exceptional game, and a great start to 2013)

i love this game and and normally i would have given it 4 stars out of 5 because of the single player aspect but they really tried to deliver a good story line which isn't that bad except for the up and down difficultly of single player so missions will be super easy and others are godly hard with no progression between two or nothing leading up to it. however there whole points system to get from one mission to the next needs to be reworked so you can do missions back to back. now for the pros this game has one of the best multiplayers for a fighter that i have ever seen if you like the power stone series this is for you because it reminds me so much of power stone and i been dying for another game like power stone. they have several moods that will keep you and your friends entertained. that being said this is a must buy!!!! even if you just want to check it out its at a good price so why not buy it. its the best 30 i spent on a game in a long time and i'm hoping this isn't one of those great games that fly under the radar each year and people pick it up years later like this is a great game

For those looking for deep and well thought out story and single-player game, my advice is to look elsewhere. Anarchy Reigns is a multi-player game masquerading as a something more, trust me it is not. The single-player campaign is tacked on and merely used to familiarize yourself with the controls and to unlock the additional characters for the numerous multi-player modes within and should be completed in 6-10 hours. However, Anarchy Reigns is filled with colorful and over the top characters, hilarious cut scene dialog, and more violence than an 80's action flick. Controls are simple (maybe too simple) but enjoyable, the graphics will much to be desired, there is no local multi-player (online only) confusingly, and the single-player with as story seemed like it was written in under 2 hrs on someone's fan fiction page.

However, I enjoyed it every step of the way. Anarchy Reigns will not make any website's top 10 list for 2013, but it is a good good guilty pleasure. For its price $29.99 it makes no apologies for not being a flagship title and should be enjoyed in its own right.

I must said that this is the great beat' em up game i ever played since Streets of rage. Similar to Mad world except it going to the next level and deeper, It have a good Campaign & great multiplayer. The Campaign have two side of the story, you either the black side or white side with different story and different characters you encounter and unlock for the multiplayer and training mode which is cool. Also beware in mulitplayer, if you go into multiplayer for the first time, you will get alot of beating but as you keep playing the game and train your character of your choice, your get better at it and you will enjoy the multiplayer not to mention that there it ton of multiplayer modes too including Death ball, tag team deathmatch, survival, dogfight (If you pre order it at gamestop, if not probably release it as a DLC), etc. The multiplayer is like a mix of various of games i play including: Madworld, Super Smash Brother, Power Stone, Fist Of the North Star, some Vanquish (by some characters, not the gameplay) and God Hand. And also for the one who wonder how the gameplay is in Anarchy Reigns, go on youtube and look up "Super Best Friends Brawl: Anarchy Reigns" i hope it help you all out and this is how i heard of this game and probably i heard of it before the video upload. Overall, buy this game, it fun, great multiplayer, and good amount of character you can play as and it only 29$, now that a steal right there especially the people who like Madworld and God Hand, which i play both myself and enjoy it.

Btw if the you hear major critics like gamespot review this game and said that "there is no move list for the character in the pause menu" or something like that, it a simple, button mashing, beat' em up game not a serious fighting game get it right, there a move list on training mode depend on character you play as.

the game is ok. but there`s something off. it simply seems rushed and unpolished. the game never pulls you in completely, never picks up. graphics are not that good for todays standard, gameplay is a little frustrating, it never takes the next step on emotional level, and it never keeps you on the edge. on the bright side, there are some nice additions to the aerial combat which helps the game being not so repetitive. there`s a level where you have to cover for ground troops, and operate night vision aerial cannon. think modern warfare 2 AC130 level. pretty much the same. in another cool level you have to refuel mid air which requires good amount of skill. if you have a sweet tooth for the flight combat games, and got tired of same old shooter games etc,I`d say give it a try. it`s definitely not worth full price though considering the fact that there are so many other games coming out, this seems more like a bargain bin type. I`m curious to see how the next "ace combat" will play out.

I would say this game is an acquired taste. not for everyone. if you liked hawx 1. this is more of the same.

What precisely is the idea behind this game? H.A.W.X. doesn't allow you fly planes in realistic situations. It doesn't place you in a heart-pounding story. It doesn't allow you to earn your rank or flying wings. It doesn't even permit you to feel any empathy for the characters in the game. It is, quite frankly, a mish-mash of nonsense that's been wrapped up in a shiny box of failure.

The game starts out with absolutely no connection to the previous game--which isn't altogether a bad thing. Nevertheless, you have no idea who you are, why you're there, and what your background is. You first mission is in the shoes of an Air Force Colonel who gets shot down during combat. And then you start jumping from one pilot to another, from mission to mission. How does this make any sense? In one mission you're in the middle east as an American pilot; in another, you're a British RAF pilot doing a training mission; in another you're a Russian fighter jock. Why? If anything, all this jumping about is childish. In fact, it is so laborious that an arcade game feels more enjoyable than this $50 piece of gold malarky.

Ok, forget the characters. What about the flying? Surely a game made for flying will give you a somewhat real experience as a fighter job, right? Absolutely not. Sure, each fighter has strengths and weaknesses, and you can feel the difference between an F-16 and an A-10. That being said, you are never permitted to take advantage of each individual plane's unique attributes. In one mission you're flying an A-10 on ground runs--so far so good. Then suddenly you're to turn around and dogfight with Russian MiGs. This is a ridiculous proposition for anyone who knows even a little bit about these planes. An A-10 is called a "Tank Buster" for a reason--it doesn't do dogfights.

The game also added a new feature where you're allowed to take off and land your plane. Purportedly, this is because many players of the last game complained of the lack of realism. To address the problem, the developers here just make you turn around and land at an airbase at the end of the mission. Why? Maybe some people might enjoy the prospect of landing a fighter jet--sure, I'll give you that. But the game provides absolutely ZERO training on landing a plane or taking off or anything of the sort. You're merely thrust into it as if you should already know how to work the controls, what the proper method is to land these fake planes. Hell, if the game merely kept score of how you landed, that would be something.

H.A.W.X. doesn't give you a feeling of accomplishment. You don't win for your skill in dogfights. You don't win because you picked the right plane for the mission. You don't win because you correctly guessed that a particular loadout would be important for your objectives. Nope--the game makes those choices for you. In fact, the only reason you tend to win the missions is because you're supposed to. Fire off enough missiles (you get about 150-200 per mission per loadout) and an infinite amount of canon ammo, and you're bound to hit something. Nonsense.

This game is a far cry from the Ghost Recon series. At least those games give you a considerable amount of realism. It's another world away from MWII, where you feel compelled to fight because of the story and characters and realism. This game is totally devoid of any likeability.

If you want to try it out, do so. Rent it. Or if you truly must buy it, buy a used copy where you'll at least save some money.

Ace Combat is much more enjoyable, though no more realistic.

I played the first HAWX game for weeks. I thought it was the best fixed-wing (aka, not helicopter) flight simulator combat game I'd come across in years. In fact, I still own the very first copy of HAWX I ever bought back when it came out years ago because I could never bear to trade it back in. So suffice to say I was very excited for HAWX 2 to come out.

And then I actually put the game disc in my PS3 and was repeatedly aghast at how much of just a crap game this is. The first HAWX was awesome for its time and had fun gameplay you just couldn't stop coming back to. In addition, it had what all hardcore combat flight sim fans want an "advanced" mode that uses every single button and function on the controller to get as close to simulating all the control surfaces available on a real jet. Yet HAWX 2 mystifyingly took a serious dive bomb (pun intended) backwards. I still to this day have no idea how they managed to actually make a sequel that played like a crummy less-developed version of the first game. It felt like HAWX 2 was the game they started making, decided it was horrible, gave up on it, and made HAWX instead, and then years later decided to release the original horrible first attempt as a sequel.

Plus that, there are numerous forced gameplay problems you can't control your own manually released missiles, for example, and are forced into going along with crappy autopiloting in some sequences. The first HAWX had the pseudo-augmented-reality virtual sky-tunnels you had to fly through sometimes, but it still let you try to do it yourself. Yet this sequel forces you to go along with each new loaf in the craptastic sequence of increasingly crummy and disappointing hand-holding things.

In conclusion, if you want to play a killer combat flight sim game, pick up Apache Assault or the original HAWX. Don't waste your money or time on this junk.

At first I bought this game wanting a fighter jet game. And I must say that all the concepts are there and it's a decent, at best, game. The controls are very hard to master and I often find myself flying around in circles to find the enemy, then flying around in more circles to find them again. I would possibly look to another game before buying this. If you can get the controls down though, I can see it being lots of fun!

Want Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X 2 Discount?

I wanted to play a flying game. In fact, I wanted to play THIS flying game, and I wanted it to be fun. I ignored all the negative reviews and bought it. I'm an easy gamer I can be amused by nearly any game, although my twitch-reflexes aren't what they used to be as I approach the fifth decade of life.

Still, I saw this had an extended single player story mode, and I wanted to fly a lot of different aircraft and participate in missions, and no way did I want to get online and fight 12 year olds, so I bought a copy last week and have been playing it.

I have to say I'm annoyed. Ubisoft came really close with this game. There's a lot of great stuff in it. I love the music especially the load screen/menu panel music. And the first 5 or 10 missions are actually really fun well crafted, full of detail, realistic aircraft, UAVs and so on with different characteristics to explore. Marking buildings and ships for later destruction using a Predator-type UAV interface lots of fun. Night landing on a carrier after a bomb run in an F-35 spectacular. Handling a bulky A-10 Warthog as it gets peppered by flak and bombs entrenched ground positions great.

But then there's a certain mission. The first screen for it has three spelling mistakes: "rein" for "reign" and two instances of the word "seperatist." And that is your alert that, basically, you are done with the fun part of the game and are going to get into some hastily done, shoddily crafted missions. Really, Tom Clancy? Russia invades Norway to capture an oil derrick to replace their own that got blown up by some terrorist nuke? I might have believed that in the 80's shades of SSI's North Atlantic '86, actually. But come on.

I actually played the game most of the way through until a final dogfight on 'standard' difficulty mode, where I discovered that the strategy was this: Turn at full bank on afterburner always, or be hit by a missile. While turning on afterburner, try to get the 'boss' plane in your sights. Your missiles won't lock on him he's the boss, after all. So, after several hours and countless restarts, rack up 100 hits on him with your machine gun without dying one at a time, each separated by minutes and then do the same for the other two planes that accompany the boss.

I gave up. It was boring and annoying supremely so and it was the climax of a series of missions that were just more boring and more annoying. It felt like good programmers wrote 5 or 6 good missions and then they brought in the B team to churn out another 20 crappy ones.

In addition, attention to little details is poor. There is one point where cutscenes play after a long mission for 15 minutes in a row. They're not pausable and not replayable, so if you need to use the restroom, you will miss some. After you complete a mission, you get a progress screen. Your progress is saved, right? No. Enter the next mission and start the next cutscene; only then is your progress saved. Manual save? No way.

Also, I hated this: if your plane is pointed the wrong way when a cutscene starts, sometimes your plane will crash into the ground while the cutscene is playing, killing you. Now you have to restart that mission. The cutscene audio fights with the 'you're dead' audio, then just cuts off and you are booted to the 'you're dead' menu. Any warning when the cutscene is going to start? No. Any way of interrupting the cutscene? No. Do the plane controls work during the cutscene? No. It's just an insta-death, well into a mission, with no save point anywhere nearby. Feels like a software bug, really. Good game designers know better.

The game locked up my PS3 3 times so far during play, by the way, requiring restart. (When you're made to install the required software update, be aware you'll be waiting with the progress bar stuck at 17% for about 10 minutes. That's apparently intended behavior, not one of the hard freezes I'm talking about.)

There's some neat stuff in the game. The early cutscenes are tight and exciting, the planes are photorealistic and have a variety of weaponry, modes, and handling traits, the voice actors are really good. Controls are so so and made my hands sore after about an hour, but they can be customized. Free flight mode is a lot of fun almost worth the price of admission but come on, give us something to shoot at. And for pete's sake, do not make me 'unlock' the planes. I will never do that. Just let me fly 'em.

Plenty of female characters too, including pilots, which is good; unfortunately, every piece of dialog directed at a female character in the entire game includes one of the following phrases: "Calm down," "settle down," "simmer down." Sexism at its worst got a comment from my wife. I hate this because it makes the entire video game industry look bad and reduces my chance of retaining a video-game-compatible wife, so companies should take notice and quit doing it.

On balance, it got me off deck, flying, and shooting missiles, which gains it 3 stars. The best parts of this game are better than Dropship: United Peace Force, a 2-star game with some 4-star flying missions. There's gotta be a 5 star flying game out there I like Afterburner Climax, even though it's a port of an 80's game but I haven't found the real 5 star flying game yet.

Hawx 2 ain't it. I'll keep looking.

I am a MASSIVE Saint Seiya fan. I've been following it since I first watched it at age 9, in 1994, in Brazil. I have collected a few action figures (the old 8" or so ones), bought as much of the series on DVD as I could as I live in the US that is incredibly hard, I had to do with overseas shopping and lastly, imported the game all the way from the UK, on release date.

Ok, with that out of the way, on to the game!

The style of this game seems a lot like mindless button mashing but combat itself requires a bit more than that. Fighting against ANY saint or mini-boss (Cassios) requires you to carefully plan your attack, as normal attacks will likely be blocked and even any special moves will be mostly blocked, as some damage may be caused. One sad aspect of it is the necessity to always build up your cosmos, which is a requirement to launch any of the special moves, this is one area I feel the game fell short.

Continuing on special moves, I just can't stress enough how amazing they look. The faithful recreation from the animes is incredible and once you develop the saints, oh man, those moves are outstanding to watch. My first moment of awe was seeing Ikki's flying phoenix carry people away while smashing into pillars, taking the entire scenery down.

Dimps did an excellent job capturing the essence of the show in this game, they offer the gold saints, bronze, and a few extras (with annoying DLC which will be discussed later), but I feel they allowed themselves (or Bandai made them) to be a bit lazy with possibilities in the game. For instance, there is no 1player vs 1ai battle, the closest you get is either doing Mission mode (which can be very lengthy as it covers on average 7 stages, 3 gold saint temples+their paths) or Tag mode, which pits you and a copycat AI character of your choice against a gold saint + minions spawning everywhere. Tag also goes through a couple of houses but there's no pathway fighting.

Leveling up characters takes a long time (not a problem) but the way to do it can be repetitive. There are several possibilities for varied adversaries on both Tag and Mission, but there's a lack of variety in the gameplay. Plus the AI will try to mirror your moves, using their equivalent would-be button presses to whatever you do. They also die around halfway through the fights so you may need to revive them (or let them down and finish the fight by yourself when you're at least at a level 5).

That said, the gameplay is rather tight and responsive, while still staying in the Devil May Cry/Dante's Inferno/Bayonetta/God of War restriction of areas you can access (as in, one pathway, sometimes small areas). The sound is very nice, the special effects look and sound lovely! More about the sounds, ALL of the voicework is in original Japanese. That's not a problem until you have characters talking while you play, so unless you play without paying attention and read the captions, you'll miss it. Unless you understand Japanese.

One disappointment I have is with regards to the music. Saint Seiya has some of the best in my opinion THE best music score of any show. The game, however, takes advantage of the theme song and another transition fight piece, and not much else. All of those special, touchy moments in the anime, with the excellent music to go along, are filled with somewhat copycat styles trying to capture the mood. I wish they'd have tacked the songs from the show but who knows if there's a copyright issue with the performing artists.

Now, on to the DLC. Let me start by saying that Namco Bandai pulled a Capcom here. All of the DLC is in the disc but you still must pay separately for a

I've been enjoying this franchise on PS2 for many seasons, so I've been looking forward to the PS3 version all year.

This game is really a ground-up redesign. Some major changes:

*Only one camera is available for actually playing, although several are available for intant replays. The game camera is similar to the default angle for the previous games in the series, but with slightly better down-field vision. Personally, I always played the overhead camera before, so I was a bit distraught on losing it. The downfield vision on this camera is just good enough that I'm not totally angry.

*The controller has been reconfigured, but it's completely customizable if you want to change it.

*The play clock is 25 seconds, and it starts REALLY soon. There is just no time for any preplay strategizing. In my opinion, this is a flaw. Perhaps when I find all the plays I want my pace will speed up enough, but at this point, I never get to the line with more than 5 8 seconds left, so hot routes and motion are just a fantasy. In previous versions, I enjoyed playing around with motion to get a look at coverages, etc, but I've got no time now to send a guy in motion, much less bring him back to where he started before getting flagged.

*The recruiting engine is now awesome. Even in past seasons, recruiting was my favorite part of the dynasty process, but EA has really taken this to new heights. The database for finding recruits is more work than before, and you can't just click "Interested Recruits". You have to really comb the database for the guys you want, and they have a targeted list you add them to. But when the recruiting gets started, you actually simulate phone conversations with these players in real time. This is so revolutionary, I just couldn't believe it worked as well as it did. I actually got butterflies picking the pitches in these "conversations" and reading the mood of the recruit. Talk to much about the wrong thing, and they will get mad and slam the phone on you. Talk about pressure!

*(SEE COMMENT ON THE STATUS OF THIS ISSUE)One big weird bug with respect to rosters: I usually spend a few hours after purchase setting up my favorite team's roster with names, along with stars on the other teams in the conference. This worked fine. I even used a USB keyboard to enter the names. I saved the roster several times and once again at the end. When I began the dynasty, it ported in the roster, no problem. After playing in the dynasty for a while, I came back out to the main menu to play some mini games, and guess what? All the rosters were reset and my saved roster was nowhere to be found. I went back to the dynasty, and everything was still in order, thank goodness, but the main roster for the game is wiped. HUGE bug, but since I'm mostly in it for the dynasty, I'm not despondent.

The game has its bugs, which I guess we should expect for a clean sheet redesign, but the leaps EA has made in graphics, recruiting, and gameplay still merited the 4 stars, possibly even 5.

It's hard to ding this game because it's always my favorite game every year. But, I bought a PS3 for the 1080p capability, and I'm getting annoyed that all EA's games only have 720p graphics. They better have 1080p by the NCAA 09 release next year. That said the graphics are quite good but only an incremental improvement over Madden 07 for PS3.

I like the new menus for choosing plays. But, that ask Corso think needs to go. Retire it already. Who actually uses that? It must be in his contract or something.

As an avid player of the previous EA Sports NCAA Football titles to say I was greatly anticipating this release would be an understatement. The day of release I went and bought it on my lunch break, anxiously awaiting the time to go home and play.

Upon turning on the game I noticed major differences. Most importantly, there are now only 32 teams to use. This means there are NO All-Time teams, or even Dynasty teams from specific years past. There is also no Random-Select in the team selection screen. My friends and I utilized this every time we played so people would not use the same team over and over, it added variety to the game. Whether these All-Time and Dynasty teams will be able to be downloaded later as add-ons from the internet is beyond my knowledge.

The gameplay is good, graphics are amazing... but other small things with the game seem to be lacking. Play selection is now Madden-esque in style and annoying to say the least. They have gotten rid of the pennant collection, which for me was incentive to play, to unlock various teams. I never was a fan of the Dynasty Mode where you create a player and take a team throughout many seasons. I played merely single games against friends. So this lack of earning points and teams is a slight let-down.

On the plus side the stadiums are impressively designed and each home team has special little things you notice unique to that school. For example, at Penn State you here the "We Are... Penn State" cheer and the Nittany Lion does his one-armed pushups. Also, with the Weather Channel Live Feed you get the weather for that exact location at the exact time you are playing. Subtle things like this make the game worthwhile.

Overall if you are a former EA NCAA Football fan it is a definite must have, just for the sheer point of getting the newest technology and up-to-date teams. However, do NOT expect it to be a revolutionizing game. Many things could be worked on, and hopefully will be with downloadable updates.

Much of what I liked or disliked about this release has already been well covered in earlier reviews. I continue to be baffled as to why EA gives the PS3 version the inferior treatment with 720p and 30fps graphics. The last version I bought was NCAA 06 for the Xbox, and I went back to it about a week after playing this PS3 version.

The player model quality is stunning save for the observation that every lineman is hideously obese. My biggest complaint is the feel of the game. The players run around like Mech Warriors or Imperial Walkers. They just don't seem to be moving like humans. I wager the PS3 30fps rate has something to do with this. The sounds don't feel realistic either. Almost every contact sounds like a basketball hitting the floor. The dynamics of the crowd noise doesn't feel right either. They also took the college atmosphere out of the game by removing the cheerleaders and more notably the on-field officials. Having the official occasionally get in the way of a defender or messing up your runner was actually strangely enjoyable albeit frustrating and added to the realism of the game.

The play selection method just flat wore me out. I must be really slow on the take because I would end up getting at least a dozen delay of game penalties or pick the first available play on the screen to avoid getting a penalty as I was running out of time. I am also disappointed that they removed the pennant collection. I didn't use it much in 06 except for the "tough as nails" pennant after getting sacked for the 10th time despite having an offensive line with an average rating of 95+ at Heisman level. it was just nice to have options to level the playing field when I felt the AI was "cheating" too much. The game play sliders help some, but not quite as much as the pennants would.

On the plus side, I *loved* the new recruiting system. It probably mimics the actual experience better than any previous version and it is infinitely deeper. The game play is actually quite nice. The passing game is much improved and the running game is much more realistic and challenging so I was unlikely to have a 2,000 yard rusher every other season. The kicking method which was first introduced in 07 is also much more challenging and pretty much guarantees my kicker won't win the Groza award every season or kick a dozen 60 yard field goals every season.

I am hoping against hope that EA will stop treating the PS3 platform like the red headed step child. I also wish they would stop making the NCAA game more and more like Madden in look & feel, but that's not realistic either because I'm guessing they're trying to minimize their development costs by maximizing base code overlap. I wish EA would go back and dig up the NCAA 06 code, fix the passing game so your 99 rated tight end doesn't have a perfectly thrown ball bounce off of his chest 9/10 times or the ball bounce off of your wide open clutch receiver's helmet, tweak the defensive secondary AI to play at their rated level instead of 65 rated players jumping 5 feet in the air or dive 15 yards to bat down passes or make one handed interceptions while doing a back flip, tone down the defensive impact players tackling the AI player by the face mask a half dozen times a game, use the 08 recruiting system and keep every other feature intact. I think that would be a winner.

NCAA Football 08 is a great 1st time offering on the PS3 despite some ridiculous flaws. First off, i see a lot of complaints about turnovers and i have my share of them but it's not the game's fault for this and is the players fault. I have played about 50 games and every one of my interceptions was my fault throwing into coverage or throwing it up for grabs to avoid a sack. You need to be able to read defenses and like real football stay away from throwing to a impact players side. As far as fumbles it is actually more realistic this year as they have even added a tuck the ball away button to avoid fumbling. When you know your going down or going to be hit hard tuck the ball away. I don't like the default speed on the R2 but you can customize the controls anyway you like. I'll keep it simple from here on out and just list the pros and cons.

Pros:

Great Franchise mode with deep fun recruiting all season long now.

Tons more player animation and much more realistic tackling.

Improved AI, no more money plays. You need to mix up your play book.

Campus Legend much improved.

Unlimited create a player and new create a recruit.

Detailed stadiums.

Fun realistic game play.

Cons:

Depth charts agonizing to navigate.

Menu system added needless steps to navigate.

PS3 30 FPS.

Presentation needs improving.

Missing key last gen features like create a play book and formation subs.

there are a few bad things about this product a buyer should know about. 1st the light bar connects off of the video output so if you are using a composite cable beware you might get a worse picture than normal. for ppl using a component cable DON'T BUY IT! it is not compatible. hdmi and optical output cables are un-touched so if you are using those, dont worry. like someone else has said earlier the light will expose the cables in the back so it might be a good idea to re arrange your set up to have the ps3 on top. it also has another ac power plug and it needs the space below the plug cuz its big.

I thought this was going to light up my ps3 and make it look even more sleek and hitech than it appears. But, this is a complete waste of money. First of all, the clips in the back dont properly fit the ps3 so it doesnt actually lock. Secondly, now theres an extra wire.. and to top it off it lights the back (i thought it was the front) but it lights up in the back and displays all the wires hanging in the back. I tried my best to hide all the wires, but the lighting and the product itself is just so horribly designed it shudnt be worth more than $3 if you ask me.

The light is in the back of the console i thought it was in the front, plus you can't use it with Playstation 3 Air Cooler, you have to choose between them to attach it on the back, don't waste your money.

I bought this in early 2006. So early that I even pre-ordered it. The LED's are bright and can even be dimmed down or be pointing at a certain angle. It fits my 60GB very nice. No problems with it not fitting, or falling apart. The LED unit looks like it was factory installed on the PS3, everything looks stock and not modded by a 3rd party. Yes there is an extra cable coming from your PS3, even though I have limited space in my room. I managed to hide everything behind my TV. The only wires that you can see in my room are 3 from the extended power outlets. Though it will probably look messy if you dont have the proper cable management skill. This thing glows bright in a dark room. It matches the LED's under my whole desk and the lights behind my TV. Awesome for a unique accent to a gaming room. I like it!

I guess the two reviewers who thought this plugs into the front of the PS3 can't read the product description or notice the orientation of the PLAYSTATION 3 logo in the photo that shows the bar attached to the PS3.

This is an LED lightbar that connects to the BACK of the PS3. It has a pass through for the ports it attaches to on the back of the PS3. It also has a couple brightness levels.

The main reason I bought this is to have some kind of lighting in the bottom of my A/V rack so I could see the slot on the front of the PS3. Maybe a flashlight would have worked as well!!
