I bought this (PS3 version) for my 6 year-old son and he really loves it. And I have to admit, so do I! It IS kind of difficult though. We've only been playing it a couple of days and we have yet to unlock any more levels (then again, we haven't played a LOT though, so it's not like we've been trying that whole time.) I doubt my son will be able to unlock any levels by himself anytime soon, but hopefully I can help him with that and then he'll have his choice of courses to play on. That part of it does kind of stink, and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. Aside from that, it's a lot of fun. It reminds me of the old school Mario Kart (I was/am a HUGE MK fan on the SNES!) I'm really happy that I bought it for him.

***EDIT: 1-14-2012

After playing this a little more, I have to lower the stars by one. It's VERY, VERY hard! Even I get very frustrated at how impossible it is to do decently (I have yet to place higher than 3rd in the end), and I'm pretty good at this game. I don't see myself ever unlocking all of the levels. Not at this rate.

If you have a Wii, forget buying this game. There's no way it would be responsive enough (we have a Wii as well and tend to buy everything for the PS3 because the Wii is just so much slower with the controls.) I have NOT played it for the Wii, but I honestly wouldn't get it for that.

This is a nice addition to the play station 3, it makes the shooting games more fun.i also purchased the riffle attachment, and the riffle is much more stable to shoot with..

My only complaint about the gun is that the grip is just a little to wide for me. otherwise the gun works just fine. i like the look more than most of the other pistol attachments for sale. it has that arcade look and feel to it which is nice. i may buy the read one so i can have the set and duel wield in house of the dead overkill which is a great game btw.

This is a great bundle. Only complaint is the one Dual-shock controller and one Move controller. I would have paid to have an HDMI line, and 2 of each kind of controller. I got this system primarily to play games with my kids and for them to battle their friends. (p.s. PS Plus membership is a great deal!)

The skin is very durable even after constant gaming and sometimes sweaty or greasy hands. The custom cut fits perfectly the controller once you figure out exactly where and how to start applying it to the unit. Overall, a great purchase that brings life to the dull-colored-looking Dualshock.

Lets remember I'm reviewing a game although some might suggest it is a driving simulator.

I've been a hard core Formula One fan since the 1960s.

I've also been playing Gran Turismo (Prologue) for more than a year on my PS3. A game I both like and find quite frustrating.

The first thing to realize is this game is geared toward a very hard core F1 fan, who wants to role play and engage in the strategy of a race weekend or season. IF you are looking for most of the nuances of being a F1 driver OTHER THAN DRIVING this may be your game. This is NOT a hard core driving simulator. There is a great deal to the game that has nothing to do with driving and a great deal to do with how you interact with the press, how you set up your car, how you manage pit stops, how you deal with changing weather, etc. So if you want to live the life of a F1 prospect then this is your game! For most gamers the races are excessively long (even at the shortest settings) and I doubt many will want to pretend to be a F1 driver.

This game is certainly meant to be played as a role player, you have to be smart about your interviews with the press, smart about set-up and smart about pit-stops. Your goal is to progress to being a top level driver which also includes wise contract negotiations.

The actual driving/physics are mediocre --which means that most game players will find the physics reasonably friendly. You can turn off ABS braking and the only result you will find is that you can not steer if your brakes are locked. Traction control can be turned off and the only problem you'll encounter is that you can't mash the accelerator if you are in a Low speed turn. But there is no real simulation the physics are quite simplistic but that does not mean easy!

I've been playing the game with all these aids off and I can say this game offers very little regarding the true physics of a race car. I've taught performance driving, using real cars, for over 20 years. Nevertheless you still have to be very accurate with your steering, pick your braking points well and modulate your throttle in low speed turns. The game is still a challenge. To get a good lap you'll have to put in a lot of time but just to be clear the physics are simplistic and far from entirely accurate.

This game offers none of the subtitles of driving a real car at the limit. I don't necessary mean that as a criticism. Very few gamers would want a true simulation. Cars, driven at their true limits, are very difficult to control. However ---if you want a true DRIVING simulation this game offers little approaching that lofty goal!

I think the appeal of this game is limited to true F1 fans. You certainly have to be exact in your driving and you also have to deal with weather, pit stops, tire choices, when to change an engine, etc. It will take a lot of effort to advance your career and complete the game. But the races are excessively long (yet mimic a true F1 race). A major problem with the game is you'll be unaware of any opponent behind you because the mirrors don't work. Overall, this game strikes me as a lonely and often dull (abet technical) form of competition.

I suggest you pass on this game unless you like the idea of role playing as an F1 driver.

Your wiser choice MAY be the forthcoming Gran Turismo 5 (due November 24, 2010)

Other comments:

1.) The graphics are either excellent (for still frames) but only good (in the actual game play) when viewed on a 1080p monitor connected to the PS3 via an HDMI cable

2.) The multi-player (on-line) is OK but not great. You can set up custom races as short as 3 laps and restrict what driving aids can be used. You can also turn off collision so you are freed from other people ramming you off the track. But it is all a bit confusing to use and it may be difficult for someone to find a race you set up. Nevertheless it has more options than Gran Turismo Prologue and thus has to be viewed as a minor step up. I hope the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 will have a far better on-line lobby. Overall you will find few racers competing on-line.

3.) The weather effects are nothing less than stunning. When it rains --well ----it seems like it is really raining! Graphics fans will love this.

4.) There is no manual/user guide available within the game (and the tiny brochure included in the packaging just covers the bare basics). For a game so immersed in the details of Formula One it amazes me there is no in-game manual. I know the sport extremely well but will everyone?

5.) Driving Aids: The map of the race course that you can (optionally) display is too short to be of any real help and the racing line, another option, is too short and hard to see to be really helpful. So I doubt anyone will find much help from those aids. But Beginners will find considerable comfort with the game's other aids such as automatic braking, ABS and traction control (all of which are banned in the real world of F1).

6.) As previously noted, one of the biggest problems with the game is that the mirrors don't work. You won't have any sense of the cars behind you except for the maps. That really lessens your sense of competition and hurts the game-play. More often than not your greatest threats come from behind. This is a major oversight in the game and often makes a race seem lonely and quite dull.

7.) One major advantage of this game, for hard core F1 fans, is you will gain a very realistic perspective of the tracks. As a game, I can't say I enjoy it very much but I keep playing it because I get a very real sense of the tracks and that heightens my enjoyment when a race is televised

This review was written November 18th, based on a copy of the game I purchased on September 22nd. Almost 2 full months to think about the game and analyze it properly.

I am a massive F1 fan. Massive. I've been following it since the times of Senna x Prost despite my young age. I've been through GP2/GP3/GP4, F1 1998 World GP, GPL, F1 2000, F1 2002, F1 99-02 Challenge, F1 2006 CE, certain rFactor mods, GTR 2 mods, a brief iRacing stint, and the latest F1 2010. I have been driving sims for almost a decade as well so I feel I can talk about this game properly. I'll try to be direct too.

Presentation:

It's very nice to have the Paddock system, in the first few weeks it still seems cool but to be honest, the novelty wears off once you realize how much time is wasted when you have to keep transitioning back to that one area, dealing with loading screens. Despite the setbacks I'll give kudos to Codemasters here, was a nice touch.

Graphics:

At first they seem very awesome, no doubt about it. The cars have a nice resolution, the circuits look pretty, the stands are "alive," the pitcrew is properly detailed. However the helmets are incredibly low resolution compared to the cars, and their mapping just baffles me. The rain looks very good on the track and so does the spray over the front tires from the cockpit view.

The lighting of the game has a filter that makes colors less lively which may not be noticeable by several people, but I feel it takes a little bit away from what it could have been. On TV the cars may look one way but live there's real vibrant colors and they're very reflective but not poorly done like F1 2006. F1 2010 gets that reflection the best out of F1 games I've seen; talking more about reflections, they have a funny effect because their frames per second is at a lesser rate than the game, so they stutter by.

Audio:

Absolutely love the sound of the cars. F1 doesn't have the v12s or v10s of not long ago but the v8s don't sound that bad and this game does a great job in that aspect. Overall the audio is good, we don't have an annoying announcer (i.e. James Allen) bugging us and we do have some pit radio messages every now and then sometimes they're fine, sometimes slightly off. It's funny when it's off, to be honest, so I'll let that one slide :P. Lastly, on audio, you may be disappointed not to see your name in the list of possible names with audio, but the name is basically only mentioned once on the interview. I picked Colin just for laughs.

Gameplay:

Here's the thing: Codemasters hyped up this game a lot, review sites and shows didn't play enough to really tell us anything, so when the community got a hold of the game it was shocked. Car behavior on the dry was ok, on a wet track it was problematic. Too much grip with wet tires on, and just a generally super forgiving gameplay. Unless you touched the kerbs! They were terribly modeled and sometimes you can just ride them (when you shouldn't as in real life you'd probably damage the undertray an even screw up the gears, as we've seen with Sebastian Vettel) and sometimes you can't even look at them and they'll throw you off. I think Monza was an example of poor kerbs. Oh, you don't need TC even in the rain. It's incredibly tough to lose the rear, wheelspin is completely off.

Anyway, it's understandable this game isn't made to be a sim but Codies could have been straightforward instead of beating around the bush with their and Anthony Davidson's crap (there's a reason he hasn't been on a F1 grid for several years).

Closing statement on driving: It mostly makes sense to drive the cars so if you can remember where kerbs give you problems you'll be fine.

Live The Life:

Simply put, you don't. It's a very shallow experience that will be summed up with you not caring for the press and actually hating your agent :P.

Now, to point out the bad stuff...

CONS:

TERRIBLE AI rubber banding. Qualifying lap times are completely unreal. Race times are unreal. The AI has predetermined laptimes for every session, the only one who has to worry about setting a certain time around the track is you. You may overtake Vettel on your hotlap but he may still have the faster laptime. Also, do not be surprised to see a lower team car jumping several positions during pitstops or later in the race as they set fastest time. This game is terrible with that. Don't be surprised to see the HRT set the fastest lap of the race, or to see a computer-controlled car simply appear infront of you after warping 100m behind you. The AI has set times for each sector so they'll warp if these are outside a certain range.

Fuel Simulation and Tire Wear. Another aspect of the game that pretty much only applies to the player. It is incredible how this issue also got through testing, or it didn't but was ignored. To be brief: The player suffers from both but the AI doesn't.

Track accuracy is poor. Codemasters outsourced the work on the tracks, and when CAD data was available the tracks came out just fine except Silverstone that has the MotoGP layout. MOTOGP LAYOUT for the F1 TRACK. Also, how the hell does Monaco have a BANKED TUNNEL?! EMBARASSING. Oh yeah, it also rains inside the tunnel!

Terrible replay. Awful camera, very short. Just terrible.

The AI is very good on areas where they fail in many games, like T1 of the first lap. The AI moves about to find the proper line instead of just line-up to be overtaken. They put proper fights for position too. Unfortunately Codemasters screwed up everywhere else. They got the toughest part done but completely botched the easy ones! Careful when passing someone on a blue flag, they may BRAKE on you.

Career is a shame. You could win on Legend your 1st season with HRT and you'll not be offered a contract by a team higher than midfield. It's tough to point out the main problem in that sentence, that you can WIN on Legend with the HRT, or that a top team will ignore the fact you are amazing. Oh, and when you move teams, don't expect to replace the worst performing driver. If you go to McLaren and Lewis beats Button by 50 points, expect Lewis to get the axe.

Pit Stop bugs still happen despite the patch. Seems to be give and take on luck. That means you could be P1, make a stop, and come out P20. Great way of making a person angry.

Force Feedback WEAKER after the patch. It was already poor to begin with...

FPS stutter

You may set laps in quali faster than some AI but during the race the AI will pull laps 5-10s faster than they did in quali, out of nowhere. This relates to point #1 but it's just so frustrating it deserves another mention.

Only accurate tracks and best cars in the game are those with CAD data.

Tracks with poor kerbs (Jump!) and modeling in general, like the exit of Parabolica in Monza. It's like they completely botched some polys while making the track and didn't bother fixing them. Also, how can they put the MotoGP layout for Silverstone in a F1 game?

This game should be avoided, to sum it up. Even casual racers will be upset with the faults the game has. A F1 fan may try putting up with them like me but there's always a limit. I will not be buying another Codemasters game, I hadn't in several years for a reason. I most likely will skip F1 2011 as well.

This game is embarrassing, we wanted a proper console F1 game so bad but we got this instead. Do yourself a favor and resist the urge, this doesn't deserve a purchase unless it's on the bargain bin, and even then only if you're an F1 fan.

2/5 is actually me being nice to it.

Buy f1: 2010 Now

If you are even a little into F1 you will love this game! I initially used the D-pad for this game, but decided to buy a wheel just for it. Man that was worth it! I bought the Logitech Driving Force GT and it works great. The graphics are better then GT5 and the sound is amazing! My favorite thing to do is probably even just hot laps.

Read Best Reviews of f1: 2010 Here

If you like F1 and have a PS3, just buy it. Don't even hesitate. Especially considering the people who made this game, the driving is exceptionally good. It's very realistic compared to most racing games. Still not on par with gt5 or some other games in that respect, but still very realistic and a ton of fun to play. It can get pretty deep. If you want to fully simulate an F1 season you basically can. The presentation is great. Literally my only complaint is that there are only F1 cars. It would be cool if it had some classic F1 cars like Sennas MP4 from 1988 but all in all, it's a really polished and fun game. Great graphics too. No F1 fan should own a PS3 without this seriously

Want f1: 2010 Discount?

I can't believe the number of bad reviews this game has written about it. I can only assume the are from rival industry insiders because after playing the game for a few months now it's obvious these reviews are at best way off the mark and at worst blatant lies.

I've played almost every F1 racing game on every PlayStation system since PS1 and this is far and away the best racing experience I've ever played. The graphics are stunning, the sense of speed is just right, the physics are excellent even the load times are minimal and the menus direct and to the point.

The only gripe I have is the level of difficulty. This game is TOO HARD! With a force feedback wheel and many years of driving game experience, I can't beat 16th place on 'normal' difficulty. I don't expect to win every race (that is boring) but damn give me a chance here!

I've followed the cars round the track in practice for several laps and my posted times are way lower than theirs this aspect of the game is clearly fixed which is a real shame. In the real race this doesn't seem to be the case.

I'm starting a new career in easy mode now since I'm clearly much slower than the developers of this game expect their gamers to be!

Buy Intec G7740 Charging Station for PS3 Now

This product works just as well as more expensive products I have seen and owned. The product is "plastic-y" but I only paid 9 dollars for it (not including shipping, with shipping it was close to 16). It works as advertised. The only minus is that there is no power adapter for it to be plugged into the wall, and the description clearly states that it only has the usb cable, but in my opinion the reason for charging stations is so you don't have to power up your console to charge your controllers. They say optionally it can be plugged into any pc or mac to be charged (naturally, because it is just charging through the usb port, no need for drivers just plug it in), but if you want an adapter for a wall plug in they are not too expensive. I was lucky enough to have an extra lying around from another piece of tech I had. One last note, if you are looking to impress anyone with a "sweet looking charging dock" this probably isn't for you. While it doesn't look bad from far, when up close with it it doesn't look great. But you are supposed to be buying it for charging. There are better docks out there, but if you need one and money is tight this is a good investment.

And the so called "discount" is silly too.

I have spent way too much money on PS3 accessories that just don't seem to work well. I should have just stuck to the basics. My motion controller kept slipping out of my hand while playing Sports Champions. It didn't "fly" because the strap was secured, but it caused me to lose points while trying to get it back into position. So, I just HAD to have these grips to improve my performance. They are smooth and I find are more slick than the motion controller. They are a bear to get on, so they DO grip...the motion controller. Once I got them on and found them more slick, I decided I'd make use of them and maybe put something textured on the outside to improve my grip. I hadn't figured out what yet when I tried to place one back into the charging station. It won't fit with the grip on. Off came the grip and one more accessory is ready for the trash. It has occurred to me, while writing this review, that I might consider cutting the bottom off so it fits the charger and then figure out what to put on the grip part to make it more worthy of the "grip" title. Maybe I will and maybe I won't. Maybe it won't really be worth it.

Man this thing looks and feels awesome but sadly it is one of the most unreliable controllers ever sometimes it will randomly hit a button which can be really frustrating in the middle of an online

FPS battle. Also sometimes in a game the camera will start moving in a random direction, mine usually goes down but sometimes it goes up. Also, this has happened twice to me, if you push the sync button the thing will not reconnect to your PS3 it just blinks for 3 minutes then shuts off I've tried everything on the stupid thing but it will not connect to my PS3.

Well the big surprise for me was that I could play Augusta right out of the box. I expected to have to 'earn' my way up to unlock that course, but it's right there and available when you first fire up the game (well...after downloading updates, signing in, registering, refilling your drink like three times through all this tedious nonsense...)

Play control (with the standard controller...I'm not using Move) should be pretty simple to figure out if you've played previous versions. My last version was '09, so it's been awhile. I got comfortable pretty quickly and was able to play a 1 under par round at Augusta on the first try. So no problems there.

My complaints about the game are that I expected graphics to improve over time, but it just hasn't happened. Everything looks fuzzy or slightly out of focus. The ball often disappears when landing on the fairway. Motion isn't always necessarily smooth either, with a bit of stop and go jittering (not during swing, thank goodness) going on, as if the system is being taxed to its limits. Also, there's a sound effect on 17 or 18 at Augusta that I'm guessing is supposed to be waves or breeze in the distance, but immediately reminds you of a sleeping heavy breather. There are annoyances I have with the putting as well. The system seems to limit how far back you can swing with the putter, in some cases making it impossible to reach the hole, especially if you choose to try to putt from the fringe of the green. I may have not completely figured out the control, though.

Still, this is as close as most of us will ever get to playing Augusta, and the fact you can do it right out of the box in practice rounds without so much as signing into the EA servers is cool by me.

I just got the game today and yes it is addicting if you do like to play golf. It is fairly easy on amateur mode and if you need help the caddy gives you great shot opportunities because the caddy knows exactly the right shot in the right situation most of the times. If you have trouble knowing how to read the wind or knowing how to hit a fade or draw, use the caddy to your advantage. It is great when you are teeing off and can be great when shooting with irons, I got two eagles with irons and chip shots, but the putting leaves a lot to be desired. Putting is by far the most frustrating part of the game because you can mishit the putt on occasion once you get used to the putting and trust me the first hour you will be mad as hell with putting but just be patient and you will get better at it. Its fun to play the game because you do have to spend a significant amount of time leveling up the player, but guess what? you have five 5X exp as an option before you start the round and you can refill those five again with the only 5 refills. I do not understand however the reason why EA has to have people buy more coins with their money for a game that costs $60, but that is an issue that I have with the developer of the game.

The shot trace is easy to follow and is not really noticeable on amateur as you do not have to move the analog stick diagonally, but I will try that out later for draws and fades. Yes it will take time to build up your character but honestly how many people buy a golf game every single year like madden? So you can buy this game and keep it for a few years as I doubt much would change year to year. You have to be able to appreciate golf to play this game I think in order to get the full experience because golf in real life is frustrating so remember not everything can go your way, but once you learn how to putt its going to be an easy and an enjoyable game because it is such an excellent game in the graphics, the gameplay, and the different levels from amateur up to tournament pro.

Please take my word for it and verify my words online if you dont believe me. They make you PAY to get all the courses. I am so upset right now I cant even tell you. I LOVE this game but again, they make you pay to get the good courses. It's the biggest scam ever!

I am surprised that Amazon is still selling this game. In playing it, we set up our own golfers, play challenges and earn trophies. After you win about 30 trophies, the game freezes up on the first green every time, so you have to set up a new golfer, then get to the same point and it freezes up again, not allowing you any further in the game. I am totally discouraged at EA Sports and their golf games, will never buy another one again. I went to their web site, commented on my issues, same as hundreds of others and have not heard back from them with a fix. Please take this game off your availability of games, you would be smart to do that Amazon.

I agree with the reviews that say that if you haven't purchased a recent title in this series, this game is a must-have. It seems that a lot of folks on the net have ranked this title down because it has little new over PGA TOUR 12, but I hadn't played the series since '08 and this game is awesome!

So a lot is new for me and it's all great. Career mode is terrific and the seamless incorporation of online is very well-done. Something that IS new for PGA TOUR 13 is the Country Club feature and this has been a LOT of fun for my friends and I that play online together. Caddy Mode (not sure when that was new) is also a very good addition to the game allowing to very different and realistic ways to play.

There is no practice area and while I would still like one, it isn't as necessary as it might seem. I do not like the emphasis on additional charges for power ups (nor the fact that a practice area is included only in an upgrade version), but the power-ups are unnecessary and you can try them out with the few "freebie" coins you receive.

With not too much practice, you can easily shape ball trajectory and make some amazing shots. Same thing with draining those 30-foot putts.

Load times between holes are reasonable, but the load time simply in changing menus is really too long.

I have spent many hours with my son racing in 2-player mode in previous versions. We've had SO much fun. He's 13 now and our racing days go way back to Lego Racers on the PC followed by Star Wars Racer and then on to PS2 with all the EA Nascar versions. Those days appear to be over because the PS3 version I just purchased only supports a single (local) player. Besides that it is only 720p and my TV supports 1080p. The PS2 version has 2-player and the XBox360 says it does 1080p. Why does the PS3 version cost the same as the XBox 360 version?I feel ripped off! I would easily give up some of the graphics enhancements to gain all the fun my son and I could have with 2-player mode.

I just picked up NASCAR 08 from EB today. I am a diehard nascar fan and have played most of the previous NASCAR games from EA Sports. After a day of gaming, I've noticed that this game is a lot different than the past games, in a good and bad way. This year, ESPN has integrated their technology into the game, so if you have an internet connection, then you can view the ticker at the bottom, as well as hear SportsCenter every twenty minutes. What strikes me the most is the lack of previous game modes, like fight to the top. The only game modes are the new Career and the same old Season. Career is odd, you earn licenses by completing challenges at different tracks. You then get contracts and race for teams in Nextel. I personally don't like it, as it lacks the challenge and the fun of working your way up like Fight to the Top did. In terms of gameplay, the handling is extremely difficult. Even turning down the linear and responsiveness of the controls makes for difficult racing. It is too easy to spin out. I look forward to trying a wheel soon to see if there is an improvement. I guess EA really wants you to tweak the car setup to get the best car. I used the SIXAXIS a few times, and it doesn't make much of an improvement. It takes awhile to get used to. I like the new draft view, which shows when you are in the draft with the car in front of you. It is helpful on big tracks like Daytona and Talladega, but annoying on smaller tracks where drafting isn't helpful. I am glad to see EA fixed the restrictor plate racing on restarts, as in previous games the acceleration was terrible and all the other cars passed you and sped ahead. Now its all good. I am also thrilled to see a full field of real drivers this time. 44 to be exact in Nextel Cup. Toyota also makes its debut and the Car of Tomorrow does as well. So far, it doesn't appear EA has changed the fact that YOU are the only car that wrecks in each race. I haven't seen much wrecking among the AI. To end it on a good note, the graphics are amazing on 720p. I could care less about 1080p (which is not supported in this game) because I do not own a 1080p TV. During night races, the sun slowly disappears, making the sky look fantastic. All in all, this game is a great improvement in graphics and driver selections, but poor handling makes for a difficult gameplay experience.

PROS:

Full field of drivers (44)

ESPN integrated

Nice sky effects

Spectacular graphics on 720p

COT and Toyota

Cool replays

Nice OSD (including new VTV)

CONS:

Terrible handling

No Fight to the Top

No split screen multiplayer

Career mode is lacking

Very few drivers in Truck

SIXAXIS steering doesn't help much

In the 2008 installment, EA blew it. For PS3 there is no 2 player mode. Certainly the racing is semi realistict, but w/o 2 player, how can you have fun with your friends. Honestly, I returned my to FYE and convinced them to sell me the PS2 make so I can at least do 2 Player with my friend. EA needs to get back to basics like that of Nascar 04.

I follow NASCAR and look forward to the release of the NASCAR game every year. In previous years I have enjoyed the career mode where you start in the Whelan series and work your way up to the Nextel series. I thought with the PS3 version, there would be lots of extras and career modes. However, the career options are very limited and have not held my attention. Also, in trying to allow you to set up the cars for racing, they have made it impossible to control the cars even in easy modes. It is impossible to get through a race without causing a yellow flag (the yellow flag is thrown so quick, sometimes you don't even see the wreck). I think this game will be a trade-in at Gamestop for Dirt which has a great demo on the PS3.

I am a diehard NASCAR fan, but It has been quite a few years since I bought a nascar game. I think I was turned of by nascar 2000 (or whenever the first ps2 nascar game was released, because it was terrible). Anyways, I decided to give nascar 2008 a shot to see if it had gotten any better since then. So far I have only done the chase mode, which is a good challenge for all skill levels. You can either choose bronze silver or gold level on the license tests, which is good. Silver is good for a casual gamer, who likes racing games. Gold is very difficult and frustrating.

The other contract races get progressively difficult, and eventually impossible once you get to the Car of Tomorrow super-speedway races. You start 39th, and have 25 laps to get to the front. I have wrecked everytime, and you have no choice to turn off the damage.

The worst part of this game is that you HAVE to drive with the joy stick or the sixaxis controls, both of which are extremely too responsive and hard to use. Unfortunately you can't use the d-pad, which is what I have always used to drive races with. Don't go off the bottom of the track, even by 1 inch, or you will be spinning like a top, with 42 cars bashing you from every angle.

So, in conclusion, if you enjoy racing games, this is a good nascar game, and a good game for the first release of it on a new game system. But if you don't like using the joysticks or the SIXAXIS to drive a car, don't buy it!

I just received the Forza 4 Playseat and a Forza 4 Fanatec wheel and the CSR Elite pedals. I was very disappointed to find that neither the steering wheel or the pedals fit the playseat. Given that the description clearly states that they are compatible and that the Fanatec and the seat are Forza 4 special edition, they should work together, right? Even more disappointing is that I tried to get customer service from playseat.com and they told me that they are only resellers. They would not tell me how to contact the actual playseat people to get this fixed. All they would really need to make it work is a plate with holes at the right place for the steering wheel. It is possible to drill holes yourself to make it work but with the seat selling for $500 and the wheel for $250, I don't expect to have to drill holes to make it fit. Worse is the pedals. The plate for the pedals is to short by several inches. There is no way with the current plate to attach the CSR pedals securely to the the seat. I guess I could buy a piece of metal myself, cut it and drill all the wholes. Again, unexpected for that kind of price. Another thing I didn't like is that the playseat.com people told me that they know about the problem and are planning to sell a plate for the pedals that will work sometimes in mid-2012 (6+ months after it came out). I don't think I should have to buy an extra plate and I don't think they should advertise this playseat is compatible with the Fanatec wheel or pedal. I wonder what Microsoft thinks of this; they licensed this playseat and the Fanatec wheels and pedals, they should work together out of the box. Unless you are pretty handy at fabricating plates and drilling holes in metal, you probably should not buy this product.

As far as the solidity of the product, it also was not up to expectations. The post that holds the steering wheel doesn't feel very solid and the parts don't fit well together. The adjustments for the steering wheel are very limited. The post is angled up at a sharp angle so if you need the steering wheel farther from you, it also goes up a lot. I'm not sure I'll be able to make this work without having the steering wheel right at eye level. Also, the piece that holds the pedals feels very loose and unstable. I'm not sure how it will hold up whenever I get the pedals installed with a custom-made plate.

On the positive side, the seat itself has a nice feel to it.

Edited on 01/11/2012: I received the updated plates for the wheel with two points to mount to the column (steering mounts to the plate, plate mounts to the column). Mounting with the bolts is more solid than the table mounts that I originally had to use. There are three points to mount the plate to the seat column. When using the Fanatec mount points, you can only use the closest and middle mount points. Should be good for most people unless you are very tall. I'm 6' and it's an OK fit (would be nice if I could have the wheel lower and further). Because the wheel is too high, I can't use my Kinect (not sure how good that really is). You will need to buy two 30mm M6 screws to install the wheel, the 20mm screws provided are not long enough.

I also wanted to confirm that the seat itself feels very solid. The pedal mounts feel more solid than I originally thought they would, even with two mount points instead of four. The only weak point is the steering column, it could use some reinforcement. Despite my initial disappointments, I have to admit that playing Forza 4 with this seat, the wheel and pedals is a lot of fun and I would buy this setup again. I just wish it would have worked out of the box or that getting support would have been easier. Speaking of that, if you are in the US, make sure you get in touch with people at playseatamerica.com; that made all the difference. I wonder why the playseat.com people didn't redirect me to the American branch. Bumping my review from a 2 to a 4.

Fanatec CSR Elite Steering Wheel:

Initially when I received this product the steering wheel plate was not pre-drilled for Fanatec steering wheels. However, after some research on this, I found out that Playseat were working on getting the correct wheel plates and are sending it out to any customers that require it so that the customer does not have to drill the holes themselves. This is at no charge to the customer. You can find out more from Playseats web site or their Facebook page.

I received the new pre-drilled plate and it lined up perfectly to my CSR Elite wheel (using the angle brackets included with the wheel). The only thing is that they only pre-drilled two holes (one for each side) instead of four holes. They told me this is by design and it is sufficient. Upon my testing, the two holes was indeed sufficient to hold down the CSR Elite wheel without any issues.

The only gripe is I wish the position of the wheel was a bit more adjustable as I would prefer it a little futher outward without having to raise it up the post as high. Also once the CSR Elite wheel is mounted, the bolts under it will prevent you from mounting the plate to the 3rd furthest point. So you only have the first two distance points to mount the plate down. Other than the distance of the wheel, the angle is just right for my particular wheel and has a fairly stable feel.

Fanatec CSR Elite Pedals:

The CSR Elite pedals mounted up fine as well. Note that you are supposed to use either the two top holes or the two bottom holes for the pedal mounts. I built my own bracket so that I can utilize all four mounts on the pedals however, before that I had just the two top mounts and it was fairly sufficient. I wanted it wobble free so I built my own brackets to mount behind the Playseat plate giving me mounts for all four holes.

Seat:

The seat is very comfortable however the synthentic leather on the cushion does make a rubbing noise. It's nice they added a spring bottom for added comfort.

Putting it together:

I found the instructions sufficient to put the seat together. It's no harder than following instructions for furniture, etc. Just follow the pictures and assemble it with the tools included.

Adjustability:

Steering wheel: I already mentioned above that I there was better ability to adjust the plate forward.

Pedals: The adjustable angle of the pedal plate is a great addition to position the pedals at the perfect angle.

Pedal distance: The quick release latch works great to move the pedals further or closer to the seat. No more knobs to turn.

Seats: You can't adjust the seats, they are stationary and does not move, similiar to real racing buckets. For home use, having the ability to adjust the backrest would have been great however for me the seats are fairly comfortable in it's current position.

Build quality:

From what I can see, everything is fairly well built from what looks to be powder coated steel parts. There's no rough edges in the metal work.

Customer Service:

Customer service was very responsive and quickly addressed my concerns with the pre-drilled mounting plate for Fanatec wheels.

Overall:

The seat is fairly well built and comfortable however the price is a bit expensive when compared to other options out there. At this price range, the shifter mount should be included instead of being optional. However, warning they do not have a Fanatec compatible shifter mount yet. I hear it should be coming soon though.

Overall I'm giving this 5 stars because the seat is comfortable, "now" compatible with all my gear, fairly adjustable, and excellent customer service support.

I ordered this playset as slighlty used, but it came as new and I absolutely love it.

If you have a steering wheel for gaming and you don't have a chair to mount it to, your wasting your time. Just stop and go back to drawing pictures of race cars with crayons. Get a Logitech G27, this chair, gear-holder, PS3 and GT5 and you have an amazing home arcade set-up.

The Playseat is like sliding into your favorite carthe chair is comforatable, adjustable and sturdy enough to drive like you how you'd like to drive if their were no speed limits.

Thanks Playseat! You have a great product here.

I purchased this seat to use with a Fanatec CSR elite wheel and pedal set. I was initially disappointed by the lack of proper wheel mount plate but a quick email to customer support and the update plate was in the mail. The seat setup was easy using the supplied instructions. Was up and running in no time. The seat is comfortable and I find the wheel hight adjustments perfect.

The look and feel of the seat is quality and with the addition of the CSR Elite wheel and pedals looks ready to race!
