The game was decent to say at the very least but it was ordinary and like any other third person shooter with a bland story and repetitive gameplay. You are basically in the same surroundings throughout the whole entire gameplay with a snow environment and shoot what appears in front of you to get to your mission objective and get to your next location. The graphics were ordinary and nothing special. I recommend that you wait for a price drop before buying the game because a full price for this game is not worth it. It plays similarly to Dead Space 3 except the shooting and character movements are less stiff but it really doesn't feel any different than your typical shooter games. If you feel like playing a new game or you're bored, I'd rather rent it than buy it with a price like this.

i'm sorry i got this.i thought naively it would be like lp2.well it's all about the big bucks right gameindustry?

you guys are going to make things so that every game is going to seem the same as the others because that's what your damn info-gathering and market-targeting numbers demand.

when i found out there is no campaign co-op i was disgusted. somebody important and of course more knowledgeable than us guinea pigs shouted"LETS MAKE THIS LIKE THOSE OTHER GAMES THAT ARE REALLY SELLING". and so now we have lost planet 3 made to be like dead space or mass effect.and the same thing is happening to other games so that they can be more like the other games-over and over.

it's sad but trying to talk sense into the people in charge is useless-they know what's best right?

-i guess i'll sell it soon and maybe go back to lp2 or some old rpgs.

i apologize for the negative tone-it's not like me,but imaginative and creative games are something i really like to enjoy but all i see now is the homogenization of game design to maximize $$$ for the companies.

-but alas aren't there a zillion kids who want the next game to be just like ((fill in the blank)but it has to have sold tons)

-i guess i'm also a little kid who just wanted more and more of lost planet 2.

i think i'll read "steppenwolf" instead of turning on the the game console now.

This game had me worried at first... there are a couple glitches and bugs here and there but nothing game breaking. I was terribly bored/ afraid the first part of the game but that is only because it has a slow beginning and takes awhile to get into... as soon as you start to play as Connor who is the main character in the game which i believe is the fourth sequence thats when the game starts to pick up and adds in all the new features which include hunting, free running through trees and the ability to have a bow and a tomahawk. All of these new features make the game way better and a blast to play, if you are not enjoying this game at the beginning i beg you to at least play until you beat a mission or two as Connor!

This game isnt perfect it has its flaws with the AI being stupid at times and horses being hard to control sometimes but the game offers so much new elements as well as the now polished old elements which made previous games amazingly fun! The graphics are amazing except for certain things like bushes/leaves or shadows are kinda blurry/not that detailed but those are such minor details that it shouldn't be judged to harshly...

I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the series! If you are a newcomer to the series i recommend getting and playing the first two games at the very least.

I was immensely looking forward to this game, but now that I've played through it, I'm disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game, but it really didn't have that extra specialness that kept me addicted to the Ezio games. The humor that was so apparent with Ezio is no where to be found with Connor and the overall storyline was boring to me. I also really missed the economy aspects that were ever so present in the Ezio games. While there is a bit of that in this game, it's not nearly as compelling, though I did enjoy hunting (and I'm no hunter!). Maybe this isn't a fair criticism, but I also loved the exotic travel part of the AC series and as someone who lives on the East Coast of the US, I never got that extra special flair with this game. In general, this is a decent game, but didn't live up to my expectations for the franchise.

Assassins Creed has had an amazing run. The story and development has always been top notch. I've bought all the games and played them all again just before buying this one. This one was a let down. It is very different from the other games. You might like it if you approached as a new game and not part of the series because there is definitely some disjoint going on.

Don't let the 1 star reviews fool you (They aren't even reviews of the game, rather, they are reviews of Amazon's service. Rookies)

The beginning is slow, but completely necessary to build the foundation of what turns out to be an amazingly well written storyline.

Once you become Connor and start receiving your assassin training, by sequence 4 you will be having the time of your life killing red coats, raiding forts, jumping from tree to tree.

It just doesn't get any better than this game. Period.

I pre-ordered this as soon as it was available. SO WORTH THE WAIT! The best out of the series so far. I love the new features and side missions like the naval battles. The only thing I hate is waiting another year to play the next one! I can't wait to see where the games go next.

The Icon guitar stand is very quick and easy to assemble and displays your Guitar Hero or Rock Band Guitar very nicely. It's simple but functional and it seems to be durable and made well. You can fold it down if you want for storage. It also has a fastener that wraps around the neck to keep you guitar from falling off of the stand. As an added bonus it comes with a 10' USB extension that I have found useful for other games as well. This is a great value and I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I will start with the obvious, the game looks beautiful. The graphical

quality does not change between cutscenes and gameplay. Kojima and his team pulled out all the stops on the beauty of this game, as they have always striven to do.

SPOILER ALERT

Then there is the story. A lot of people harp on the Metal Gear Series because the story is full of twists. One person even said that the plot was twists and only twists. That person missed the point completely. Especially by the end of this game, it becomes apparent what Kojima had been pushing for. The message about humanity is clear... the MGS series has always been anti-war, anti-genetic determinism, anti-environmental determinism, every mistake that humanity has ever made with regards to war and control of the populous has been addressed in some way. Consider the history through which Kojima derives his inspiration. His home country of Japan experienced an apocalypse during WWII while causing an apocalypse in mainland Asia at the same time.

In all situations of war no matter who begins the fight or where it starts or ends, the young will repeat the mistakes of the old, and the old will let the knowledge gained from their mistakes slip away with death. Even the most heinous actions, deception, murder, are a means to an end, and the end is all that really matters.

SPOILERS OVER

Gameplay was spectacular. The MGS franchise is one of very few that has made significant gameplay improvements with every subsequent release. Control of Snake feels much more fluid, yet at the same time you can feel his age in the way he performs. Though he is more agile and powerful than the average human could ever be, he isn't quite the same old Snake. He is THE Old Snake.

Old Snake gets a lot of neat toys in this game, too. Most notably is his chameleon suit. If he lays flat, his suit will automatically adopt the pattern of the materials that are on the floor. By pressing the "triangle" button while up against a wall, he will adopt those coverings as well.

The second great toy is Drebin's shop. Drebin is a weapons launderer who gives Old Snake full access to replacement ammo and other supplies. ID Locked weapons can be converted to old-world weapons that do not require nanomachine permissions. There are A LOT of weapons in this game. First time through you probably won't get to experience all of them, and that is okay. Just check them out on your next run. The game is only about 10-15 hours long depending on how you choose to play. Also, through Drebin's shop Old Snake can modify his weapon. The first weapon, the M4 Custom is a good all-purpose weapon. It packs a decent punch and holds 30 rounds. It can be modded with a shotgun attachment, grenade launcher, or foregrip for stability. Laser sights and scopes can also be added to the M4 and other select weapons. So play around and have fun.

Toy #3 is the Metal Gear Mark II, Hal's minature Metal Gear Rex that is mostly harmless...mostly. When you need a buddy to turn the corner and remain unseen for you, Mark II can cast an invisibility cloak and make sure the coast is clear. If things get sticky, it has a shock wire function to incapacitate unsuspecting foes. The same tool can be used to knock on surfaces to distract your enemies and guide them away from Old Snake's true position. It is a neat little gadget that you may or may not find to be useful.

Next up, the enemies. In this game, it is impossible to hate the enemies you fight (except for Vamp) because they are amazing, flat-out. Whether they are GECKOS (bipedal beast machines), FROGS (all-female supersoldiers), or Private Military Company militia-men (remnants of their humanity will keep you grounded), or the Beauty and the Beast Corps (best enemies in of all time in videogames?), enemies are not just targets. Kojima and his crew made the enemies in this game characters to be admired. They neither have names nor faces, but they will f*** your day up very quickly if you do not respect their power. From the top down, they are all capable killers.

The humanity of this game lies within Snake's allies. Meryl, Eva, Hal, the Colonel, Mae Ling, Raiden, Rosemary, Naomi, and especially Sunny represent the other side of life. Old Snake is a manufactured product of war, the only life he has ever known. No machine can imitate or destroy the compassion that these individuals shared. This is passion. I won't go on, can't explain much else without major spoilers.

Gameplay, people, visuals, this game is stunning. Metal Gear Sold 4 exemplifies why videogames deserve to be celebrated as art. It has the story worthy of novel publishing, breath-taking visuals, engrossing music, and an all-around realism that we celebrate in paintings such as the Mona Lisa. If only more videogame producers put this much time and effort into a game. Production for perfection... long hours, perspiration, and inspiration to produce the culmination of one's efforts... that is art... this is art.

If you are a casual gamer, this is not for you. If you have never played the other MGS games, this is probably not for you. Play through MGS1-3 in order to get the story and gameplay straight, and then play MGS4.

For everyone who has been trying to compare this game to COD and HALO...come on. MGS4 is not a pure shooter. They put it nice and bold on the cover, "Tactical Espionage Action". That means be sneaky and use force only as needed. Play a "shooter" and judge other shooters with it. MGS4 is NOT, I repeat, is NOT a shooter.

Could this go down as one of the best games of all time? Absolutely. Game of the Year? For sure. It is in a league of its own. Nothing else plays like it. Few other games are as engrossed in the mystique of political/sci-fi conspiracy. Too few have such dedicated stories. In most games, the producer's passion is not as apparent. MGS4 had a 105 degree fever with Kojima's ardor for gaming perfection. The game feels like he and his team cared.

Hideo Kojima has done it again. MGS4 is the most detailed, convincing, and well-researched game I have ever played. It offers a compelling and imaginative glimpse into the future of high-tech warfare, a nuanced, intelligent storyline, vastly improved gameplay, and incredible graphics.

The metal gear franchise has always pushed the boundaries of what a game could be, and challenged the preconceptions of the audience. MGS4 starts out with, of all things, a short live action film about marine fauna. The in-game store discounts weapons (in real time) on wednesdays and sundays. These are just a few examples, but there are many more. The story has both the philosophical and political musings as well as the bizarre humor and one of a kind characters that fans expect.

The gameplay is more open and the action is more intense than in prior games. The environments seem much bigger and are bustling with npcs engaged in building to building warfare. Snake can join either side in the conflict or ignore them and sneak by. He has a ton of new weapons and gadgets as well.

The graphics are among the most impressive I have seen in a game. The characters are solid physical presences with subtle, lifelike facial expressions. The mechs move with an animal grace and hunt with a keen intelligence that belies their artificial construction.

Overall, the game is an experience that should not be missed by anyone with a PS3. If you don't already own a PS3, this game alone would justify its purchase. It is by far the most creative, original, and technically polished game to appear on the system to date.

Before I start... I do my fair share of gaming, but I'am by no means a very obsessive gamer. So I never really knew about Metal Gear Solid until I bought this game. I'm a huge fan of first person shooter games like COD, Resistance, etc. So I saw the ads and thought it was another military type shooting game so I went out and spent the $59.99 and got the game. I put the game into the PS3 and after about an 8 minute wait (becasue the game is so amazing that it needs time to load some stuff on to the PS, but you still need the disk to play the game!) the game started and I was completely blown away. I have played some really good games in my time and on many systems, but this has, by far, been THE best game that I have palyed on ANY system before. The quick down low on this game... the graphics... I give a 10/10. The detailing of the all the characters, the details on the machinery and the surroundings, it was awesome. The thing that made is so spectacular was the fact that the developers did put so much attention to the details that they did a very good job of simulating real life as best as possible. Another big pet peeve of mine is the acting of the characters in the game. I feel like it plays a big part in the gaming experience and people don't give it much credit. So for the acting another 10/10: the character voices fit the characters, and the voice acting was done superbly. The animation was also done extremely well, my only fuss about the animation is that you can't really read how the character is feeling by looking at thier face: the pretty much always put on the same face... but no game has ever done that really well either so I looked over that fact. Finally for game play I give 9/10. I give it such a "low" rating because quite frankly this game is a bit tough to get accustomed to (all though once you do... you're pretty much ready to kick some MAJOR BUTT). I guess a more crazy gamer would have managed to get all the controls down quickly... but for me it took me a while to figure out how to use all the controls. At first the menu that shows all your items, weapons, and an array of other things was very difficult to figure out. Once you got past that you had to actaully figure out how to use the items, weapons, etc. It took me the longest time to figure out how to use Med-packs... but that could also be due to my inabilities :-p. So basically thats why the gameplay is 9/10... overall its just a confusing interface to get used to, but once you do it gets very fun. Also the interactions in the game is awesome. Like the bad guys can figure out when you are there just by bascially seeing you (obviously), hearing you (also obvious), and smelling you (Yea... thats a new one on me too). So its really fun trying to sneak around all the levels w/o getting spotted... but fear not my first person shooter fans... there are thrills here for you too... if the baddies spot you, you're gonna' be pulling out some very nifty guns to shoot them: my fav. is the p90. Just before I end here, if you don't know about the Metal Gear Series (like myself) you won't really know what's going on in the game. In that sense it really sucks because you're just shooting and sneaking around w/o really knowing what's happening. The developers just assumed that you played previous versions so they just build on the stories of the last one's so you miss out a lot of the stories and things like that. But, I went on Wiki and basically read the story like a book so I was all set! And lastly (I promise this time) the game does feel like its more of a movie with some player interaction becasue the cut scenes are ridiculously long... so if you are'nt a cut scene type of person... you might not like this game. As for me.... I loved it!!!So basically this game is wicked fun and if you haven't bought it yet... you HAVE TO!!!!!

This is the first truly next-gen game to grace either console (PS3/360, the Wii is different). The sheer detail and feature sets are amazing. It's a singleplayer game with the benefit of multiplayer, unlike many games which are the reverse. This is crucial, as many modern games trend toward the opposite. The graphics are, to put it less than eloquently, "HAWT." Controls are fluid and very deep (the sheer volume of actions/interactions is staggering). This is a STORY-DRIVEN game, someting that this generation of games is often lacking imo. I haven't seen this much emphasis on this all-too crucial aspect since Lost Odyssey. The soundtrack is at times haunting and always appropriate, really accentuating the experience. The campaign is lengthy and rich. Warning, if you're not a fan of excessive cutscenes, you may be put off by MGS4 (although you CAN skip them). I for one love the game for this reason. There are so many little details that cater to the player's enjoyment, such as the ability to play music in-game on your virtual ipod, the songs and extras scattered here and there, and the inside humor. Even if you're unfamiliar with the series (I have experience only with the first Metal Gear Solid game) it's definitely worth a purchase. This is a system-seller plain and simple. Every gamer who calls themself as such should own it. The first truly next-gen does not disappoint. Snakes last dance must be experienced.

Pros:

+Very satisfying story

+Incredible voice work

+Incredible cinematics

+Eagle eye attention to detail

+A lot of gameplay elements

+Memorable Music Soundtrack

Cons:

-Long cutscenes. To the point where you feel more like you're watching than playing. This goes a long way as you'll play for five seconds to be treated to cutscenes several minutes long

-Some load times are really annoying

-The Camera can sometimes be a pain

After three and a half long years of waiting, Metal Gear Solid 4 finally drops down on the Playstation 3. With a lot of questions to answer and some mighty big shoes to fill, Metal Gear Solid 4 is easily one of the most anticipated video games ever made. For the Metal Gear fan, the game is absolutely fantastic. Continuing an already mesmerizing story, Metal Gear Solid 4 proves to be one of this generations greatest games.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is the conclusion to Snake's story. The game is told through some gorgeous cutscenes. There's a lot of detail to the characters faces, their actions and it has some fantastic voice acting to boot. You'll want to grab some popcorn, though, because there are definitely a lot of cutscenes in Metal Gear Solid 4, and some of them are really long. This is easily the biggest problem with Metal Gear Solid 4 and it's one that has often plagued the series. While the cutscenes are very dramatic and well written, and while they even shed some humor, some of them are just too long, some of them seeming almost useless. If a cutscene is getting a little long, though, it would be a grave mistake to skip it as you might miss some important parts of the story. And if there's any Metal Gear Solid game one should be playing for its story, it's this one. The other big problem with the cutscenes is how they come at you, even early on. There are moments where you'll play for a matter of seconds only to be sit through a cutscene that's several minutes long. At the very least, you can pause the game during the cutscenes. However, it's hard to get over the fact that some of them really drag on. When you get to play the game, though, Metal Gear Solid 4 is amazing.

Metal Gear Solid has always been about stealth. The same is true of Guns of the Patriots. The difference being that you're also in the middle of a war and there are two sides fighting against one another, the PMCs and Militia. You're able to help the militia and doing so can have its rewards, such as characters being willing to give you items or being able to go through certain areas more easily. Although, you can also turn the Militia against you.

There have been some improvements to sneaking around, though. The camouflage system has returned but it's much better. Rather than having to go into the menu constantly, Snake's camo will change automatically to blend in with the environment and help him evade enemies. You can also hold up enemies just like before, only this time you can perform body searches while holding them up rather than having to shake them down. You can also restrain them to the ground to knock them out. If you really need to get by an enemy and you're running out of options, you can always play dead. This also works when you get spotted and knocked down by an enemy.

There's also the implementation of the Solid Eye. This is more vital to sneaking around than anything. It works very similar to the radar in Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, showing you how much noise you or your enemy is making. Also new to here is the threat ring. The threat ring surrounds Snake at all times and will begin to act up depending on how close an enemy is to him. All of these seem like they'll take forever to get used to, but you'll quickly adapt. Just like previous games in the series, if you're spotted, you'll have to escape from the enemy and hide.

There are also moments where you can take control of a Metal Gear Mk II, a very small version of Metal Gear that is controlled by Snake. This little guy allows Snake to scout out the area ahead. You can also use the Metal Gear Mk II to stun certain enemies.

Lastly, Snake has a psyche gauge. This is very similar to the stamina gauge in Metal Gear Solid 3. The gauge depletes depending on how stressed or exhausted Snake is. You can refill this by eating certain snacks like Rations or Noodles, but you can also refill it by resting for a while. But there are plenty of factors that affect Psyche. For example, if Snake has been in the sun too long, you'll have to move him into the shade. If he's been in cold water, you'll have to get him out of it. As his psyche gauge gets lower it becomes harder for him to perform certain actions, such as being able to aim properly. In other words, from time to time Snake will need to rest. Though there are also certain points in the game where his psyche gauge is restocked automatically.

You won't always be in stealth mode forever, though. There will be times when you have to fight, and the shooting mechanic works much better in Metal Gear Solid 4. When you're thrust into combat, the game plays very similar to a third person shooter. Allowing for more precise aiming and no longer forcing you to go into first person view to land a well placed shot. There's also a weapon shop where you can purchase, upgrade or customize weapons to your liking, another element that works to your liking and gives Metal Gear a lot of customization.

All this variation in gameplay means that Metal Gear Solid 4 has several different ways to approach it. Combine it's various gameplay elements with a selection of difficulty levels to up the challenge, and Metal Gear Solid 4, like the three before it, becomes a game you'll want to replay again and again. Sometimes it's just fun to mess around with your enemies or just to see how else you can go about a certain area.

Visually, Metal Gear Solid 4 is incredible to look at. There's a ton of detail in the environment, and the atmosphere is also a good one. You're very much immersed in the world of Metal Gear Solid 4. There are a couple of load times that can be annoying, especially the installation. The camera, while it's great, can sometimes be a pain. It's easy to control, but sometimes you'll find yourself fighting with it.

Music wise, there's a memorable score to Metal Gear Solid 4. There's a lot of voice work as well. Much of it is great, although at times you will get the feeling that some of the voice actors and over-acting. On the whole, Metal Gear Solid 4 is a beautiful looking, (and sounding) game.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is an amazing experience. If you can handle lengthy cutscenes you'll be satisfied with the final results. If you can handle a couple of annoying load times, you'll be satisfied. The amount of gameplay here is incredible, and the fact that there are so many ways to go about each area is also a lot of fun. For Metal Gear fans, Metal Gear Solid 4 is easily the reason to own a Playstation 3.

I bought this game on Xbox 360 back when it was first released. Immediately the DLC cases started rolling out, so fresh out of the gate, you have incomplete game. I am starting to grow very tired of this kind of behavior from game companies. DLC that is worked on and released well after the game is released I can see, and actually look forward to. DLC that was clearly done before the game was released and could have been included with the game is shameful, and just clearly a money grab.

When this version came out, I decided to buy it for $30 and sell my Xbox 360 copy, instead of buying the DLC which would probably be around $30 for it all anyway. Plus the Xbox 360 version has 3 discs which is annoying to say the least. Every single case is included in this version, and even the special suits and guns which were preorder incentives. This is the version of LA Noire to get.

As for the game itself, if you are expecting 1940s Grand Theft Auto, look elsewhere. While the game is open world drive anywhere like GTA that is where the similarities end. This game focuses completely on investigating and solving crimes. You are a good cop, so you can't pull your gun on civilians, you can't run people over (99% of the time they jump out of the way just in time), you can't commit random crime at all. You are a good uncorrupted cop in 1940s LA, and the game makes you play that way. Some would complain that it is too linear, but that's just how the game has to be to tell the story it does. The graphics are among the best this generation, and the face capturing technology is very impressive. I even caught myself recognizing actors, which impressed the heck out of me.

All in all this version of the game is well worth the price tag now, so if you were on the fence, now is the time. This game isn't for everybody (FPS/TPS crowd I'm looking at you), but I feel everybody should give it a try at least. The graphics and face capturing tech are sure to impress if nothing else.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere in this game. But, definitely do not fall victim to the temptation to use online guides. You will spoil the experience and clue finding. You will want to sit back and enjoy the cases. The graphic details are magnificent and the game is well written. You actually find yourself wanting to just spend hours running around or driving through the areas to see what you can find.

The only problem I had was the fight and chase scenes. I'm an FPS player and this style made it really tough for me to do well.

This game is so awesome, totally different than anything out there. Every game out there now is kill kill kill whether its a FPS or 3rd person. Perhaps I'm biased because I love police procedurals yet I absolutely loved this game, the clue finding and interrogations specifically, that's the gem. The facial animations are amazing as well.

Read Best Reviews of L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition Here

There was SO much potential for this game. It was a great premise (be a detective) set in a fantastic time and place (post-WW2 L.A.). But Rockstar ultimately didn't live up to the (admittedly) enormous potential that was there.

Pros:

Technically, it's marvelous. The sound, visuals and acting are stellar. What they did with facial animations was like watching the actors themselves, and hopefully more games use the process in the future. I can't even count the number of famous actors they used. I'm not talking A-list, but a good half the characters had faces where I thought, "I know that person!," so Rockstar should be applauded for not skimping on actors.

Using guns of the era (especially the Tommy Gun) produced awesome sound and light effects (in dark places) that were reminiscent of Hollywood gangster films. I just loved that.

The setting was like you'd been dropped into 1940s L.A. Toward the beginning, I enjoyed simply driving around and enjoying the scenery while listening to the radio. The cars handled like you thought they should, and driving the "special" cars (one looks like the Batmobile) was a blast.

I loved the last homicide case, which was, unfortunately, how I hoped more of the game would be.

Cons:

The fun of driving wore off though, and outside of the cases, there wasn't a lot to actually do. Street crimes (of which there are 40) were fun, but lasted literally 2-3 minutes each. Looking for simple collectibles, like badges, film reels and landmarks felt ultimately pointless. They didn't improve your character at all, and really didn't add any extra content. (I was hoping the film reels would feature trailers with (main character) Cole Phelps as the star of the film you'd found.)

The game was kind of a "jack of all trades, master of none." There was running, shooting, inspecting, interrogating, driving and exploring, but none of them ultimately stood out. The interrogations were the most challenging and fun, but also the most frustrating. Trying to determine the difference between "doubt" and "lie" often left me angry.

The main character was fairly unlikeable and unrelateable, and the way the main story unfolded was also frustrating.

SPOILERS: Two main desks homicide and arson featured a number of cases in which you KNEW the perp you charged was innocent. You didn't have a choice though, and had to charge someone to complete the case.

Conclusion: I play most games twice before selling them. This was a one off. I'd definitely give it a shot if you can get for it for under $20. There's enough to enjoy to make it worthwhile. I did all the cases and street crimes, and my playing time amounted to about 30 hours. Rockstar really pushed the envelope with this title, but only pulled off some of it.

This product photo reveals the drum with fullcircle cymbals..and that was the reason why I bought the kit in the first place..wanting to own the new designed drum! However, what I received was the ordinary 1/3 circle cymbal..the usual stuff and not at all what is shown here. Amazingly the original bundle box also shows the regular drum. SO WHY IN THE WORLD ARE THEY ADVERTISING THIS DRUM WITH THIS PRODUCT? I DO NOT KNOW..I AM DISAPPOINTED. VERY MUCH.

I do not understand why they have a picture of the new drums while they are continuing to sell the drums with world tour. Even after asking them, they assured me the newest band hero, like the one Walmart with the new drums. I am returning this one and going to Walmart where the price is the same but I get what I want and what I paid for.

We opened the box on December 21, 2010 and noticed that this game was released in the fall of 2009. That wasn't a problem, but made us question why the product sat on a shelf for a year. When we unpacked the drum pedal we noticed an oily substance on the pedal, something like grease or vaseline. Then we noticed the wire coating flaking off the wire that connects to the drum pedal. When we examined it further we noticed that the entire length of wire was exposed because the coating looked like it had dry rotted. We called Activision immediately and were told that an RMA # would be emailed to us with 2 hours with a return airbill for a warranty replacement of the foot pedal. We started researching the unit and found that there were many complaints about the "greasy" foot pedal and "dry rotted" wire coating. Two days later we finally recieved the airbill and RMA #. We returned the pedal via UPS January 7, 2011 (we were out of town for 2 weeks during the holiday). Called and verified pedal was received and was told the replacement would ship in 2 weeks. Called again January 29th and was told 6 to 8 weeks for replacement. Calling Activision is more painful than going to the dentist sorry dentists. Half the time they can't find your info in the system or they tell you to check online but Activision's warranty tracking website is down and is being replaced. I should have returned the game to the store. We still haven't been able to play it and it may be until March 2011 before we do. The warranty is only good for 6 months. I asked Activision why a recall wasn't issued, but of course, no one could answer the question.

Personally, for the PS3 version, currently, it is not a good deal.

The instruments on the PS3 version (new drum set are due sometime in the future) are the same as GH:World Tour Kit.

GH:WT Bundle Is going about for 99$ or so, the standalone game "Band Hero" is ave 50-60$ right now. (11/28/2009)

So, at max price, $160, if you buy both seperately, you can get TWO games instead of just one for the Band Hero Kit priced at 149.99.

As for the game itself, it is fun. It's not metallica, or slipknot type of music. The target audience is teens/tweens/pop culture. It serves it's purpose.

If you like pop music, annd if you like guitar hero, this will be fun. It's not the best in terms of packages/presentation, but it will provide hours of entertainment.

"Band Hero PS3"

That's one of the great things about the ps3, its is so versatile. Having a keyboard, BUZZ, pS3 EYE, band equipment, etc and not to mention what you can do with the ps3 on the inside, BR, Gaming, Vid Streaming, etc, it is so fun, to be able to do so many things with it.

. Now I am not a musician nor have I really ever played much of any instrument, so I didn't expect to have so much fun with this game.

The equipment is solid, the drums are actually supported by steel, the guitar is nice looking and feels solid and comfortable, the mic feels like a real stage microphone, the music is good, even the songs I dont care for were fun to play, the easy navigation menu system lets you focus on fun with no hassle. 4 family members or friends can play at any time or just go solo, or jump online and play with tons of people.

A must addition to your PS3! Even if you dont think you like to play instrements you willl likley get hooked.

Pro's

*Easy to put together

*Solid Instruments

*Great Solo or Multiplayer

*Great music

*Great for kids as well as adults

*One of the funnest games I have ever played on the PS3

Con's

*Career was little short

*could have been more music, (you can import all of your music though which is very cool!)

*a few bleeped out words in songs will screw up your vocals score when using the mic

I don't want to echo too much what other reviewers have said, but I think it is important that people know how frustrating an experience tiger woods 11 can be with the move. I purchased this game the day the move came out specifically to use with the move. I spent the next week going back and forth with EA sports trying to figure out how to get it to work, which I am just not willing to deal with in a video game. Like most people i am very busy and video games are supposed to be an escape, not another source of stress.

Once I finally did get it working, there were some nuances that you just have to deal with like the fact that the start button only works on the dual shock, as do some other functions, so there is the potential for much switching back and forth between the two. Also, the motion controller tends to loose calibration, especially for some reason if you quit one match and start another. Since there is really no way to calibrate the controller in the game, you have to exit the game all together to get to the XMB and calibrate the remote. This happens way too frequently. When i only have 45 minutes to play a game, the last thing I want to do is have to spend 15 of them exiting the game, calibrating, and starting over. There are many functions that, even when working properly, are difficult to figure out and simply not intuitive. Putting is difficult, because you are looking up at the power bar on the screen instead of down at your hands and the result is very awkward. Using the focus mode is difficult, because using left and right motions with the move controller to move the focus around just doesn't work very well, (especially once you start to loose calibration). And the practice mode does not seem to work with the move at all, so the intro at the beginning when you learn the basics of the game is useless if you plan to use the move.

I gave the game two stars instead of one because when you DO get everything working and actually get to make a swing and hit the ball, its pretty cool. There were stretches of 15 minutes or so where i really enjoyed the game. But there was just WAY too much time where the experience was more frustrating than fun.

Bottom line -i don't know whether its the hardware, the software, or both, but the combination of the two is not a very satisfying experience. I tend to think it is not the hardware because it seems to function fine in sports champions. I'm hoping John Daly's prostroke is a big improvement, but I know now to wait for the reviews instead of rushing to buy something right away. What a waste of $60, and several hours of my life.

BTW, don't read anything into this if you plan on using a dual-shock, i never even tried that mode just out of principle but it might have been pretty fun.

EDIT:

I felt it was worth posting a follow up. Being as I could only get about $20 for the game trading it in, I've stuck with it a little longer. I moved my move camera to the top of the TV instead of below it and that seems to have solved my problems of loosing calibration, at least for the most part. I've now played 2 complete 18 hole matches with the move, and it is to the point now where it is enjoyable. Navigation through the game is still way too difficult, if not impossible, with the move, but the swinging itself is fun as long as your idea of fun in a video game is being just as bad at golf as you are in real life. forget about having a large degree of control over the spin, etc., like you do with the dual shock. I highly recommend drinking coors lite, smoking cigars, and cursing when you play this it helps.

We'll begin this review with a bit of a disclaimer. I play a very popular online golf game quite frequently, so while I've never played a Tiger Woods game before this I do know what I like in Golf Games.

Pros:

I love the different camera options. You can choose between True Aim (which seems to be kind of like "hard mode" to me), a follow the ball Camera angle that is more well known to people who play the Golf Games I do, and a mode that I like to call "TV mode" because it kind of looks like a camera panning from player level to follow the ball from the sidelines. I really love options and that is more viewing options than most games give you.

There are, to my knowledge, two different swinging modes. The stick swing mode, which I like to call "%!@#$" because that's what I scream each time I use it, and the much more user friendly and certainly proven system of "3-clicks". You can toggle that on by hitting the R3 key and I did so immediately. My shot accuracy increased dramatically and I found myself much happier. About my only complaint with 3-clicks, is that if I decide I've got the wrong strength I, again to my knowledge, cannot cancel it and have to just go with what I've got or it'll auto slice :(. That's a super small problem and it hasn't stopped me from tying Tiger Woods Score on a course this morning which got me excited :D.

The character creation mode is super in depth, I actually gave up on all the sliders. I may take pictures of my own face so I can feel like I'm a part of the game. That is an option for those that didn't know (I sure didn't).

The courses are gorgeous, I have a nice sized television (to me) coming in at 42 inches (or is it 40?), on the TV this game looks great! I'm rarely so pleased with the graphics of a game, normally this would never be a selling point to me. I rant constantly about how graphics are often the priority over gameplay. But since the gameplay in this is rock solid I'd say that this is a PRO.

I can get the ACTUAL weather for a course I'm playing on via the weather channel! Am I the only one that thought this was super cool? I leave it on all the time. That to me is super neat and a great touch.

My character rage poops just like I do when I miss a putt, it is fun to watch him freak out as I thrash like an upset infant on the couch.

It feels like there is tons of content, 17 holes come with the game, there is 1 new one you can buy, and there is side content and a campaign mode. It's pretty sweet. Plus getting trophies for things like completing a full course is really satisfying. The game makes me feel very successful and it tends to applaud you with all sorts of bonuses along the way.

Cons:

The loading times get me a little bit upset at times. I'll sink a ball in 2 swings and then be back at a loading screen. It would be great if the game preloaded the framework for the next hole as you progressed through your current one. Then just laid out the textures during the middle screen, this would have probably cut down loading times.

I'm still not exactly sure how to officially turn on true aim, I could have sworn it was different from the cinematic view because it actually gave me experience for sinking while in true aim. I'll just read the manual though, but since I have never before had trouble being sure of a menu option this unfortunately is a negative. A small one, but a negative.

Update: I found the options menu, that really should be directly on the main screen. For those curious it is hiding behind "My Tiger 11'" :).

Both on putting and on swinging I'd like a cancel button since I already know I hit too much power don't make me watch it :(. If someone knows how to do this please comment and I'll remove this from cons (or at least put in the fix).

Yes...I know EA Sports was behind this. Could you guys calm down with your name being on every sign, shirt, shoe, sock, face tattoo, cloud in the sky, and announcement in game? Please! Jeeze guys...don't advertise to me anymore once I own your game.

There might be others, but I can't think of them so they must not be that big of a deal.

Final Verdict:

I got this game for free with gift cards and a 20 dollar off promotional thing from Amazon. But had I actually spent money on it I'd be very pleased with my purchase. I have no hard feelings towards Tiger for certain recent issues, and as a sport I find golf to be amazingly complex and mind boggling at times. This game really captures a lot of that emotion. I think if EA could cut back on their constant back patting when it comes to putting their name all over these games it would be a fully authentic experience worth the time.

I would like to see TWPGA12 have the ability to transfer all my purchases over from one game to the next. I doubt that'll be the case, but if it is I just might buy the next one too. If not I'll stick with this one :). But that's a while from now! For now I'll enjoy what is all around a fairly solid title with very little in the way of negatives.

Thank you for reading :).

This game is ok built, but nothing ground breaking. The real let down is if you bought it to play the move (or vice versa). The control is very limited and essentially nothing more than a hinderance. Don't waste your time on this game. The move, however, has great potential as shown by the game that comes with it. I'd give this a 2.5 star for a game and a negative 1 billion stars for use with the move.

The internet is LITTERED with complaints about how the Move controller simply doesn't work with this game. It is 100% true. EA Sports should be ashamed of themselves over the garbage 'patch' attempt they took toward this game, rather than actually matching it up with the PS3 Move function. It's terrible. Don't waste your money or put yourself through the aggravation. The game won't even recognize the Move controller. Reviews and forums have documented this over and over and over again. Shameful.

This could have been an excellent PS3 Move game the graphics are stunning and game-play is 1st-class; but the PS3-Move Controller's buttons don't work properly with this game! This makes it frustrating to navigate the game you have to use a combination of controllers to navigate the menus and messages. Don't believe the 'PlayStation Move Compatible' designation for this game! It's not as advertised, and for that reason, I'm giving it one star. And EA Games has lost a customer.

I thought i was going to be a case personally but now that i have it, it is actually a PS3 combo of stickers to fit the controller. It wasnt too expensive so i dont mind that and once all was said and dont it looks pretty sick, however, if you dont possess the steady hand or skill to put stickers on correctly i dont reccomend this product to you. But if you got some spare change in you swear jar or whatever and you want to "pimp" your controller this is an excellent product

It's a very cool looking skin, but it needs to be measured better, because it is extremely hard to put it on perfectly because it doesn't fit properly. It looks very good, but the skins actually don't fit as well as it looks. After spending my money on this, I do not want to return this because it has an exceptionally cool look and I actually like it a lot even though the product picture is a bit exaggerated.

I was expecting alot more green than black, mine was mostly black. There should have been seperate pieces to assemble over the joysticks, trying to match up is tough. The picture is definately overexagerated, and given the option now, I would have went with one of the plates instead of this vinyl.

Played this game in WDW and loved it. (It's one of the more popular rides in Hollywood Studios.)

When I saw this on another website, I knew I had to buy it for my girlfriend. We've played it for well over 20 hours, so far, with no end in sight.

Great game. Well worth the money.

Also, as stated in the headline: you DO NOT NEED to have a Move controller to play this game. (There are a few times when you might benefit from it, but I got all of the trophies without any real trouble using my standard PS3 controller.)

Didn't realize when I ordered these that it was basically a sheet of stickers. However, after carefully applying them they've worked out just fine. Tekken Hybrid is a great little package that die hard Tekken fans will totally love. Containing an HD update of the great Tekken Tag Tournament, a "prologue" of the upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and the full-length CG animated feature Tekken: Blood Vengeance. All that at a relatively budget price makes Tekken Hybrid a more than worthy pick up, for the most part that is. The original Tekken Tag Tournament is still a great game over a decade plus later, and has received a little bit of a visual upgrade as well. What's disappointing however is that there is no online play at all. I personally would have loved to have taken Takken Tag online, and there's no reason why it couldn't have been either. The prologue for Tekken Tag 2 is spectacular, featuring four fighters and glorious graphics, and will leave you salivating for the full game to be released. The Tekken: Blood Vengeance CG film is a mixed bag to say it lightly. The animation is beautiful yes, but only the most hardcore of Tekken fans will get maximum enjoyment out of it. All in all, Tekken Hybrid is an awesome package to pick up, and will leave you yearning for Tekken Tag Tournament 2, which can't come out soon enough.

The Tekken Hybrid Limited Edition package is the best!I was waiting with much anticipation of this bundle and when I bought it I was not disappointed at all.The best part is that it comes with the movie which itself was very good, much better than the live action film they made recently. As a bonus it comes with a preview of Tekken Tag Tournament 2.In the demo you are able to use Devil Jin,Devil Kazuya,Alisa, and Xiaoyu(chosen for the obvious reason that these are the main characters of the movie).Another reason to buy the Limited Edition is that it comes with the soundtrack of TTT and TTT2.I think personally that the compositions for the games are sublime. However the most important thing about this package is the actual Tekken Tag Tournament game in HD!It brought back many good memories and nastalgia.Very good buy!!!

This edition is the ultimate Tekken Fan package,it's incredible,it is worth the price,Tekken Tag Tournamet 1 stands the test of time as one of the best fighting games ever made, the HD bump in graphics is also a plus,TTT 2 makes me wish it would be coming out sooner, the adjustments in fighting, the graphics, man I can't wait.....and Blood Vengeance,It's a Tekken film, nothing spectacular in the story department but it makes it up in the visuals,The 3D is also very well done ,in short if you are a Tekken Fan I highly recommend this package!

Tekken Hybrid Limited Edition. Nostalgia trip ticket back to the great early PS2 days! Now in HD. Such a great game it makes you wonder why such the long wait for a sequel?... This game has also been out for a while now too so the price has dropped quite a bit. So the question is, Should I get this game for $14 or get the Limited Edition for $30? If you're a hardcore Tekken fan and just haven't had the chance to pick this up yet, get the $30 LE otherwise get the $14 standard version. I got the LE since I am a hardcore Tekken fan.

The standard version has TTT in HD, this alone is well worth $14. Such a great classic fighting game that brought Tekken to a whole new level of fighting by introducing tag team! On the disc is also a demo with trophies for TTT2 Prologue. This was months before TTT2 was released so this was a first hands on for TTT2 out of Japan. The demo has 4 fighters, Alisa, Xiaoyu, Devil Jin, and Kazuya who was in his Devil form. It also has 3 stages that will be in TTT2. The thing about this demo is that they have outfits from the Tekken: Blood Vengeance and Devil Jin and Kazuya alone is why I still play the demo. The devil forms in the demo look EFF'N AWESOME!!! Too bad they didn't include those outfits in TTT2. Maybe in a update hopefully. Third, they have the Tekken CG movie, Tekken: Blood Vengeance in 2D and 3D. The movie could have been better, It was still pretty good, it just took a while to get going. Could of used more fighters from the game, and more fights. The fight scenes however, do not dissapoint! The climactic fight is just stunning and BAD A**!!!

Now with the LE, you get all that was stated above, also with a 2 disc music CD that has all the Tekken Tag music on it. You also get The art of Tekken hardcover book that shows art work and the making of Tekken: BV and a look at the actors/actresses that voiced the fighters. Pretty decent book! All of this comes in a nice case to place it all. It did have a voucher for Tekken items in PS Home, but it has expired since it has been out for a while. This is the only negative about the LE. Yet though it could be why the price has dropped some, so for a LE that contains all of this for $30 is really good. A great classic fighting game and a great price = a great buy!

P.S. Tekken Bowl is also a great plus in this game!

Want TEKKEN Hybrid Limited Edition Discount?

Let me start off by saying that I begrudged this "Limited Edition" first, because I already owned Tekken Tag Tournament for PS2; and second I REALLY wasn't impressed with Tekken 6!!! Honestly, I haven't been impressed with Tekken since TTT for PS2...I think somewhere along the development line the sparkle has been lost or something. (Yeah, 5 was pretty and 6 is gorgeous & in spanking HD...but something is missing...I won't even go there with 4!!!)

Ok, so you got a box of stuff. What's in it? An HD remake, a demo, a movie, a book, some DLC and a two disc soundtrack. (Note: if you don't have an HD TV you might not wanna bother with this because frankly, I couldn't tell the difference between the two until I did a direct comparison of TTT (PS2) and TTHD (PS3)on my son's Vizio with an HDMI cable...the difference (HUGE!!!) is stunning...Now I see why MANY people retire their PS2 games...they run VERY fuzzy on PS3!!! I own a 60GB PS3...)

The HDremake game is MILES from the first. Yes, it plays basically the same as the first, but the graphic detail is undeniable. The good thing is ALL the characters come shipped unlocked. The ONLY slight bad thing is...maybe it's my PS3, but when I was selecting characters my selector froze on me. Maybe it's just my system. All the bells & whistles are packed in...especially Tekken Bowl!!! (Knock out Bosconovich for an added chuckle!!!)

TT2-Prologue is a mixed bag...WELL, actually it's a GREAT bag!!! It's pretty, LOTS of combos, bumpin music. But, like I experienced with Tekken 6...somethings missing!!! (Ok, yeah...the rest of the characters!!! No, seriously...I've been with Katsuhiro Harada since the first Tekken on PS1...so I feel like I kinda have a tiny bit of insight here...sorry folks!!!)

The movie is CG with some truly amazing visuals, but preposterous plot. I mean, come on...Mokujin..or a million mokujins forming around Heihachi to create a godzilla-type creature??? Umm...YEAH!!! What weed were ya'll smokin??? Beautiful artwork...puzzling, but it i what it is...

The book is top notch...PERIOD!!! Nice visuals, lots of concept sketches, MANY composites of the TTT characters. VERY well done. The only thing that I possibly would have included is a silver autograph from Harada...Yeah, it would have increased the asking price, but SOME Tekken fans like myself would have coughed up the bread, nonetheless...

I just recently d/l'd Playstation Home (beta) so I really don't feel qualified to comment on the DLC. I have seen the t-shirt that they let you put on...kinda generic, but it is what it is...

The soundtrack. Oh boy!!! This is definitely where the value comes in. So, I did a little bit of research for soundtracks. Tekken Tag Tournament (the one with the 4 remixes at the end of the CD) is roughly $17.00. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has to be ordered from overseas; it's gonna run you about $45.00 (minus 2 extended edits on the disc) So, honestly, you are at ALMOST the cost of the bundle itself if you were to buy JUST the soundtracks. Nuff said...

All in all, like I mentioned before, I begrudged Namco for releasing something that I was ignorant of. I thought I was being taken for a ride. Boy, was I wrong!!! It's a TREMENDOUS value. A LOT of stuff is offered here. Get it before sellers jack up the price.

"EXCELLENT!!!" --Lee Chaolan

This controller looks great. The spacing of the concave thumbsticks, the grip on the back, the trigger buttons, and the form feels great in your hands. It also has blutooth connectivety THATS WORK BEARLY, so you don't need a usb dongle, has rumble, and a rechargable lithium battery. It also has a great feature of "extra" buttons for use when using dvds or bluray disc.

Now the bad parts of the controller, it does not have sixaxis support. So if you play alot of third party games this looks to be a great controller. BUT IT IS NOT. The buttons are not as responsive as sony's dualshock3, a few times i press a direction or a button only to have it register a second or two off. Which is a game killer.

I may have to re-sync the controller to see if this is still a problem. *UPDATE, I RESYNCED AND IT STILL IS EXTREMELY LAGGY.

I've also noticed that the 4 directional d-pad is more akin to the xbox 360's in which it is more floaty. So when playing Street Fighter or another dpad style fighter it shifts the position easily, so if doing a diagonal jump backwards, it'll stay in that diagonal jump until you shift it back to its normal state.

Compared to dualshock3 which i would give a 3-1/2 star review, I give the Neo Subsonic a 2 in aesthetics and a 1 star review for it actually functioning. The problem I have with the dualshock3 is the convex thumbsticks, lack of trigger buttons, and the spacing of the controller itself. While the Neo remedies my complaints of the dualshock3 how can they release a controller that just plain out doesn't work.

update********* i've own this controller for a little over half a year, and the lag is still there. if you plug the controller in, it works fine, disconnect it and use blutooth... you'll notice the lag right away. press a button, then 1-2 seconds later it will register, (to a point where you will press it more than once, because the input never register. I contacted the makers, they are no help. DO NOT BUY THIS LAGGY CONTROLLER!!!! Just spend the extra money on a dualshock 3 and add on some FPS FREEKS and some triggers. THIS CONTROLLER IS HORRIBLE.......DO NOT BUY, I REPEAT DO NOT BUY. THIS IS ONLY A GOOD CONTROLLER IF YOU PLUG IT IN DIRECTLY, SO WHATS THE POINT?

DO NOT BUY THIS CONTROLLER! It's absolutely the worst. The buttons get stuck inside after u press them, using the analog sticks to turn your player in any game has a huge lag. If u turn right, it will take 4 seconds for it to go through and actually move. And not just with the gameplay, it's with the menu for anything. The triggers barely work. Overall, it's a really bad peace. I don't even know how someone can release such a failure of a product and expect to make profit out of it.

This controller has a really nice feel to it, the buttons are a little bit bigger and the triggers on top feel more natural. Everything works perfectly with my PS3. It has a shorter battery life than the Sony controller, but it is Bluetooth which is great.

Bought two of these controllers. Both batteries went bad after a few months. Now I can't find replacement batteries online or locally. Not sure what to do with them. They don't work and I can't find a way to use them now. Do I throw them away and buy new expensive controllers? Don't see anything on the manufactures website either regarding replacement batteries. Kind of frustrating.

Synopsis:

From the team that brought you Grand Theft Auto, you are now thrown head long into a wild west adventure. You control John Marston. This game is set in the desert in 1911 (same year as my favorite .45 was made). You are somewhere near the Mexico border. John was a criminal that ticked off many people in his past and now has to atone for what he did. People come out of the woodwork either as his friends or enemies.

My play experience:

On the PS3 the graphics are really sharp and crisp. The textures, the ambiance all bring the wild west to your home living room.

In recent years there have been games that have tried to capture the essence of the western genre. For example Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood which on the surface was a pretty good game, it however was not a very good story. In COJ the main characters are brothers that are ex-confederate soldiers. The story never really grabs hold and to be honest I never finished COJ. The story in Red Dead Redemption is done so well that it never feels pushed or contrived. Instead its done like an old western movie. Its gritty and a world that beckons you back time and time again.

For now let me discuss the cool features:

Horses: +

I think they put a horse into a motion capture room and had him run around. In Assassins Creed II the horse was a good way to get from town to town and the motion was pretty real. In Red Dead Redemption its super smooth an you feel like your out exploring the desert on a horse with no name... Kick your horse too much to get him to chase down that coach, you could be looking at a wild ride as he tries to buck you off. The longer you keep 1 horse the more stamina and other abilities it gets.

EDIT: I see they actually DID use a live horse to make the motion capture. It shows.

You can also ride stage coaches and trains. Or rob them, its up to you. See gameplay below.

Gunfighting: +

You are a real gunslinger in this game. To get prepped to get it I watched Young Guns [Blu-ray] and a couple of other westerns. This game matches the combat of say GTA and COD. Where you shoot someone matters, and it can affect your character in different ways too. Some of my opponents are gonna have a limp for a while at least.

Atmosphere: +

There are critters running all over as you ride through the desert landscape. It feels dusty, makes me want to wear a bandanna as I play. When you get low on cash you can kill and skin critters for a few coin. There are actually many ways that you can earn money in this game besides being a hard criminal.

World: +

So far its just massive. I can only compare it to the run from Commonlands to Qeynos in EQ. It seems to be fully explorable and I have found very few places I couldn't go. It really is huge. I have seen that someone said it was the biggest world ever done in a Rockstar game. Which is impressive considering that those games can go on forever. The land is great in that it hardly ever repeats as you ride. Matter of fact I haven't seen any textures or vistas that look the same. Maybe there are but they are so far apart that you wont notice it. An example of this is the train ride into the mountains in Uncharted 2.

Towns: +

Unlike GTA you wont have a huge city to run around. Out west these were small settlements and usually had only a couple of hundred people in them. Think about all the old wild west movies you have seen where there is maybe 10 shops and a few houses in the town directly. The way they did the towns is very endearing, because it makes it an immersion type of game experience.

Poker: +

I love the side games. I have lost my fair share of my real money playing poker and now I can do this in game too.

Gameplay options: +

You can be the good guy or be a down right criminal. The game system supports either mode and varying degrees in between. This allows RDR to be more than just a shooter, but more like an RPG. Be careful who you pull your gun on. If you do it in town you can start something that will ultimately lower your honor.

Controls: +/-

The controls are a bit different here and do take some time to figure out. But any game can be that way. If you go from say a driving game to a shooter you might hit the wrong buttons once and a while. After playing this for nearly 2 days solid now and not switching to other games in between, I have totally become comfortable with the controlling scheme.

Multiplayer: NA

I do not enjoy multiplayer shooters. I am really no good at it so I tend to not play it much or at all. That being said I jumped in a couple of games and it was ok. If your a hard core multiplayer person please check other reviews for this. I would not do it justice because I tend to be jaded with regard to multiplayer games.

Replayability:

I am almost done and I can see where I would have like to do something different in the way I played this. That being said, I think that I could go back through and try it again maybe being a bit evil this time. For that I think that this is a game you could play over and over, adjust the story line, and enjoy it each time you did.

Summary:

This game is really appealing if:

A. You enjoy GTA type of game play, open world and a morality system that challenges you.

B. Fan of westerns and cowboy movies. If you hate them and think they are silly then you probably wouldnt enjoy this.

If you are A+B then this game is a hands down favorite pick to have in your PS3 arsenal.

Some Tips: (no spoilers)

I have almost 30 hours into this game and I am not done. I do goof around alot and like to go hunting and see what other mischief I can get into. Playing poker for 3 hours doesnt hurt either. That being said I want to drop some tips in to help those of you still waiting or are looking.

Horses:

1. Dont get to attached to your horse. Think of them like a car, reason being there are tons of ways they can die. From random mountain lions, to getting shot by the enemy to you shooting them in the back of the head on accident when wolves are attacking (sorry skippy :( )

2. When going in to attack a gang leave your horse way back and run up. When you have hog tied your bad guy you can whistle ^ arrow and he will run back over to you.

3. If you buy a horse the deed is in your bag, click it to call your horse back from the dead. (thanks S.L.V)

Gambling:

Like in real life its alot about luck so go in with the thought you'll do 1 buy in and when that money is gone leave, go kill some stuff and come back later. Your hands may improve

Time:

1. Pausing the game with the start button will show what time it is. Saving the game gives you 6 hours of rest. If you like shopping be sure you go to bed no later than 3am. Then when you get back up the stores will all be open, and you can go out and have a blast.

Camp:

Camp whenever you have a long ride ahead of you. As long as you have bought a map you can go to that place from your campground. Once in your campground you can select where to go without having to burn up the 6 hours of sleep. Then after it loads you will be at your destination. Good stuff.

Thats it for now. If I figure out any more lil tidbits Ill share them here with you. Have fun, it really is a great game.

Thanks for reading my review.

I am not one to buy new releases. I always wait until they are $20 or so. I've never paid full price for a game, until RDR. I bought into the hype and decided I had to have this game. Do I regret it? Hell no! I haven't put a ton of time into it but I have to say this game easily ranks in my top 10 and will probably climb to the number one spot.

There are moments in this game that will just make you laugh. They will amaze you. They will irritate you (like when I dismounted my horse to help a guy being chased by coyotes and my dumb horse wandered off a cliff and died). But they are all great! I am just in awe of the graphics. My wife came in while I was playing and thought I was watching a movie. She sat down and watched me play for 20 minuted while I hunted some animals and she was in awe and she couldn't give a flip about video games.

There is so much to do in this game. I am speaking single player strictly...I haven't played multiplayer yet. It's fun to just ride around and do stuff. You really get the feel of being in the old west. And if you are tired of doing stuff in the game, you can play one of the minigames. I won $75 in a poker game this morning. It was great (the AI is average).

I love the random events. Stuff happens in this game. I was out one night and just hunted down a treasure map and a cougar came out of nowhere and killed my horse. I couldn't get away and couldn't get a beat on it and it killed me. Amazing.

You won't regret buying this game. It's been awhile since I've had a game that has captured my interest like this one has. I can't wait to get home and play some more.

First off, I've never done a review on anything before, but this being probably THE BEST GAME I've ever played, I thought I'd say a few things. I loved the story, most movie scripts aren't written as well, the gameplay and graphics were equally impressive. I honestly enjoyed every second of this game, mostly because of the free-roam style. There is the option of taking a stage coach to avoid the long horse rides to the next missions, I took advantage of this once. In most games if there is a way of skipping the drive or ride to the destination, I almost always do so. With Red Dead Redemption, the ride is what I enjoyed most, although the missions were extremely enjoyable, the things you can accomplish on the way were just as fun, if not more fun. In the amazing world of RDR, you can hunt and skin a number of different wild animals including deer, rabbits, bobcats, grizzly bears, armadillos, a number of different types of birds and much more, all depending on the area you're in. I often found myself forgetting about the next objective and just hunting down as many animals as I could find lol. There is even a store you can sell the skins, meat and the other things you cut off or out of the animals you've hunted.

The missions are very entertaining and original, I enjoyed every single one. In RDR it's not all about shootin' and killin' the bad guys. Though it is that, among other things, throughout the game you're asked to help#most of which you can choose not to# simple farmers and civilians, which is equally as fun as the killin'. These objectives vary from domesticating horses to capturing prisoners who've escaped their transporter, which you can choose to kill or hog-tie and return to the lawman. The actual objectives needed to progress in the game are unique in their own right, they depend on the character from whom they were given. About half of the time you'll be asked to kill so-and-so, which usually isn't alone. But the other half consists of aiding in escapes, blowing up convoys of enemy wagons and other important events. No matter what you find yourself involved in, I promise you will have fun with it.

And if you're not interested in any missions, hunting or doing simple favors, you can go have a shot at the bar, play poker, black jack, horse shoes, five finger fillet or arm wrestle. I'm sure I'm missing a lot of things with this review, that said, the possibilities are endless. I give this game 10/10, if you've enjoyed the GTA's, COD's, MOH's, basically any first or 3rd person shooter's, or anything with a story, this game blows everything out of the water in my opinion. It's definitely worth buying, but if you're not wanting to spend $60 on a game, it's more than worth a rent and any late fee's you might accumulate when you lose yourself in this one. Hope this helps and I didn't sound too dorky, take care guys.

P.S.mom's account, not Roberta so it wasn't some lady that gave this review, I'm 21 and a dude so...I hope that makes it more credible.

By now you probably know all about Red Dead Redemption. It had a harsh development life at Rockstar, it won all the awards and it's "awesome." But you haven't bought it yet so you're probably wondering if it's for you.

Here's some perspective. If you felt disappointed, bored or simply satisfied and done with the last GTA than you probably won't find much to love with Red Dead Redemption. No, it's not fair to call RDR simply GTA on a horse but it does play much like it. There is an interesting story here, the world feels alive and is gorgeous, there's plenty to do but in the end the game plays very similar to GTA. That is a good or bad thing.

Additionally while the overall story is interesting and engrossing it takes its time to progress. It started, something happens at the 4ish hour mark and another thing happens at the 8-9 hour mark. Nothing is happening in between. Nothing.

So what goes on there? Favor quests. Do you know those sidequests games throw in with strangers asking you for a favor? Yeah, most of RDR's main quests are just like that. You'll meet someone, they'll tell you to do something and you'll need to do it. The main character will begin commenting on how ridiculous this is in the 6th or 7th hour of this constant favor quests which doesn't make it ok. It feels lazy. "I'll help you if you do this...now this...great! Now let's do this! Ok. I have a friend. Go see them and do this and they'll help you. I have to go and can't." Get used to that. For all there is to do in RDR I've been focusing on the main missions simply because they already feel like side missions so I have no desire to do extra favors for extra goodies on the side and the game is pretty long which is good (10th hour right now) but they could have made the missions more story or main character oriented.

The combat is good, this is a great shooter at it's core. You can also use a bullet-time system to mark enemies and do quick executions. You can fight on your horse. You'll lasso and tie enemies from afar. Occasionally you'll make important decisions. You'll enjoy horse riding from mission to mission although there comes a point where it takes too long and gets a bit old, so you'll probably switch to the instant travel option in the menu. There are some fun games to play, old movie shorts to watch, and some system to buy property for money but you'll never need it. I've never needed to worry about money, buy health or buy a weapon...but if you want to it's there. There's multiplayer in here too but it feels as unpolished and fun as GTA's multiplayer so can decide on that for yourself.

So is Red Dead Redemption for you? This is a game worthy of it's hype. The story is good, the voice acting is even better, the graphics are usually gorgeous and the gameplay is topnotch. It appeals to a mass audience and is a better package than most games last year. Is it worthy of the hype? Yes and no, for reasons I've noted. If you're interested in cowboys, love GTA or want a deeper action experience then give it a try. If you don't like games with a ton of excess fat that is labeled as "depth" or if you've had enough of the GTA sandbox-littered-with-favor-missions setup than you will not find much to enjoy here. While it is a better overall package than most games last year I'd have to give it an 8/10 at most due to some lazy structuring, extremely slow pacing and poorly implemented mechanics.

I became a Western game fan with Lucasarts Outlaws all those years ago. Played nearly every one since then, from Desperados, to Red Dead Revolver, to Gun, to Call of Juarez and its sequel. All of these have had their share of fun, but also a good deal of problems. You had to really love the genre to overlook the issues.

Red Dead Redemption, I think, changes that. For the first time there's a Western game I don't have to make excuses for.

I'll start with the early history of the game: Red Dead Revolver. As with the others, it had plenty of problems, but its style and charm won me over (even after nearly breaking the controller in some of the harder duels). The art style was great, the music was perfect, and the gameplay was, for the most part, pretty fun. It had a couple unique mechanics, like the quick-draw mini-game that used the analog sticks to mimic the actual motion of drawing and aiming your gun, to great effect, even if some of the enemies felt cheap. Dead Eye mode was neat. Running around and climbing things was a bit stiff, but certainly functional. Aiming and shooting wasn't too bad. One of my favorite aspects was the diversity in the weapons. Even if there wasn't a huge discernible gameplay difference between different rifles, shotguns, or pistols, I appreciated the visuals, and some of the higher level pistols were beautifully designed. All in all, Red Dead Revolver had a lot of potential, even if it wasn't great.

Redemption builds off that potential, but takes it leaps and bounds over the original. If Revolver built the launch pad, Redemption has now colonized Mars.

Rockstar San Diego has succeeded in creating what feels like a real living breathing place. It's the sort of world where I'm perfectly content just roaming around exploring, rather than following the story. I'd honestly have been satisfied with the open world alone, even though the story is great. I love riding out into the wilderness and encountering new animals (there are a ton of different species, which really helps with the immersion in other games where you see the same 10 animals it takes you out of the experience). There are also people all over, doing their own thing. Traveling, hunting for treasure, fighting with each other, robbing each other. You can participate or not! It's also a beautiful world. Along with the animals, the appropriate plants and landscape really sell the world. And the skies! Really pretty skies. And then there are the towns, also appropriately populated, and each with their own set of activities. I enjoyed a game of poker last night (the guy I played with was a pansy, he busted out quick). I've also been having a good time going after bounties and doing night watches at Bonnie's place.

The action mechanics all work very well. Shooting is genuinely fun. I feel like a gunslinger. The sound effects have good power to them, and the guns handle in a believable and satisfying manner. I also really like the way Rockstar handled the way characters react to being shot. Not only do they use rag doll physics, but they react to where they're shot. We've seen this idea in other games before, but this is the best execution I've seen of the effect so far. I'm really looking forward to finding some of the rare guns in the game to see how they all handle.

Riding is pretty fun, too. While not as simple to control as those in Gun, perhaps, the horse handle more realistically, and riding is very satisfying in its own right. They move the right way, and I loved the little touches like the way they slide down steeper inclines. They also spook when snakes are nearby. The idea that you can keep one horse and build its loyalty and trust is great. Unlike other games, where the horse function like cars that you can hop in and out of, in Redemption you're rewarded for taking care of one horse for an extended period. I actually grew attached to mine. There are many different breeds of horses, too, a first for games that I know of.

And then there's the story! The story is solid. And interesting premise, with lots of fun characters along the way. I must say, I really enjoyed the interactions between Marston and Bonnie. She's a great character. The voice acting is pretty darn good. Definitely some of the best I've heard in games. Marc Alaimo as Reverend Ray in Call of Juarez is still my favorite, but the voices of Marston, Bonnie, and Leigh Johnston are up there. It's such a relief to not want to skip through every cutscene.

I have a feeling Red Dead Redemption will be occupying a lot of my time these next few months. I haven't even tried the multiplayer yet (some friends who were going to get the game bailed on me -their loss!), and there are tons of challenges and side missions to complete yet. I recommend this game not only to Western game fans, but to fans of immersive open-world gameplay done right.
