Its difficult to wax poetic about a cable if it works well you should never even notice that its there.

And I want to be careful here not to wade into a discussion of how much a cable is worth, especially when talking about digital signals that are either there, or not.

I pondered the question of $3 or $300 cables for a long while, and chose to hedge my bets by buying this one for the following reasons:

a) Its pricing places it right in the middle of the pack.

b) you can see just by looking at it why it might merit this price.

c) It would be madness for SCEA to sell a product as graphically intense as the PS3 and hobble it with poor quality cables. (These cables are made by SCEA too.)

So what do I get? I get extremely high cable construction quality, and a set of extra long cables. The 10-foot USB cable length is a boon since it lets me position myself comfortably away from the monitor.

The cable jacket is a very flexible cloth like material that makes it look like this cable will last forever, no matter how tightly I squeeze it through the openings in my entertainment center. The ends fit well into my HDMI connectors and are supposed to be gold plated.

All I care about now, is that the images are wonderfully clear ... and I can safely go back to ignoring cables.

Yes yes, I know, as long as you're getting a decent quality HDMI 1.3a cable it doesn't make any difference what you get. Still, this is far from the most overpriced cable around, and it is nice.

What I really love about it is the USB cable it includes. As others have mentioned, the material it's made out of is great (the HDMI cable is the same way, but that's less relevant since it's behind your TV and you'd hardly ever move it). It's almost like a cloth or something-I've never seen a cable built like this before. It doesn't seem to "curl" up like most cables do.

I'd prefer the PS3 just use wired controllers, but that cable is a decent compromise. Frankly I wish it had been included with the PS3... It's also 10 feet long which is great.

I actually found a use for the short USB cable included with the PS3-I have my PS2/PS1 memory card adapter hooked to it, since that only needs to sit next to the system itself.

Note that these nifty USB cables are also sold in a separate 2 pack for slightly less. I ended up buying those too so I can hook up multiple controllers.

I work for no companies, sponsored by no companies, and bound by no companies, therefore I am going to give every reader the cold hard truth with no bias.

Hello everyone, I'm a pro DJ residing in Japan. Furthermore being such, I am a pretty big audiophile. I personally tested and researched my fare share of audio equipment such as turntables, CD players, mixers, receivers, amplifiers speakers, and cables etc. to try to find that optimal sound quality. As a hobbyist I am also a videophile that likes more than his fare share of movies and video games. With a library of about 500 DVDs (which I now would like to sell to replace with the same movies on Blu-Ray) and a video game count you wouldn't believe me if I told you. I really do love my electronics and want the best quality of presentation I can get. I'm sorry to give such a long background presentation about me, I just want everyone to know how serious and passionate I am about this stuff.

Now an analogy dealing with HDMI / Gold vs. Silver

There is no racial undertones in this analogy but I felt human beings are the best comparison I could make. If my mother sent me a letter in the mail, when the postman is en-route to deliver it, it doesn't matter what color skin is wrapped around the mailman or what gender he/she is. It doesn't matter if they were sick the day of my delivery and replaced by another worker of a different race. The letter will be delivered inevitably and regardless anything. HDMI is a delivery medium like a mailman to deliver integrated audio/video to its destination. As long as it gets there is all that matters. Question, what does gold and silver have to do with the delivery of the binary 1s and 0s? Answer, absolutely nothing. Digital is digital. My absolute shortest possible answer for all your questions is, either it works or it doesn't. With A/V cables it mattered because it was analog (and yes I used Monster then), with digital nothing changes.

Do I need 120 Hertz HDMI cables?

No you don't, another gimmick just to take your money. "There is no such thing." I don't know if Amazon accepts external weblinks so I will tell you what to Google search to find the complete end all article on this topic. The website name is Audioholics dot com and the article name is "Do I Need 120 Hertz HDMI Cables?"

Prices

Even though the Sony cables are reasonably priced in the HDMI cable market, they are still overpriced. My cables I bought in Japan were in a bargain bin and I paid ¥400 (US $4.00) for approximately a 15 inch cable. The packaging was plastic wrap and the only thing written on it was the length of the cable and a UPC code. No brand/company name, address, anything else printed on the package or the cables. I had no qualms about buying it because I knew 100% it would perform exactly the same as the top end cables. The price only changed due to cable length, the shorter and longer cables being $2.00 and $8.00 respectively.

Driving in a straight line / Cable Length

You're a celebrity driving in your McLaren F1 supercar. Top speed 240mph (386kph). You drag race it in a straight line and redline it, you are still pretty safe. You try to turn a corner at top speed though and you're dead. The only thing that could "potentially" affect an HDMI cable's quality is the cable length. The shorter the cable the better. When a cable is short and straight the path that the data travels down is more direct and safer. When it is longer and starts to curl and curve it gets more dangerous and there is the possibility that the signal could break up a little bit at times. But really even it doesn't matter so much because those chances for data loss are slim, which is why I used the words "potentially" and "possibility".

Final answer

The cheapest cable is the same, buy it. I took the guess work out of everything for you guys, hope you appreciate it. Remember shop smarter, not harder.

I can honestly tell you that as long as the HDMI wire you buy is properly shielded, 1080p certified,ect.. it doesnt make a difference if it costs 5 bucks or 100(Im not saying go by the cheapest possible wire,Im stating that labeling "for use with PS3" is a sales ploy in the sense that any decent HDMI wire can b successfully used with a PS3. If you read the reviews for some of the cheaper wires & make sure that they certify them to do what u need them to(whether it be bluray or video game console ANY GOOD HDMI WIRE WILL SUFFICE AS LONG AS ITS SHIELDED & 1080p CERTIFIED!), u will save a bundle.. I have a monster wire that normally runs 100 bucks & I have bought several different cheaper brands commonly found on amazon in the 5 to 7 dollar range, there was no difference in picture or sound(and I have a high end receiver so if there was any benefit to paying more for HDMI wires I would, being that I am willing to overspend when theres a benefit to it.( I tried all combinations of wires from Verizon HD box, Bluray player, PS3 ect...All to my receiver then to my 50" Samsung LCD, so any difference to discern would be noted) Bottom line, shop around read the reviews, and never believe anything that comes out of a salesmans mouth!

It is definately a cool piece of material to put on ur ps3. However, for $20 you only get the specified color that you searched. In their description, it seems that you recieve 30 different colored skins. It is a rip off for only one color of skin for $20 in my opinion. It was also hard to slide on and hard to dry. after 10 minutes of blowdrying it, it still would slide off. The great part about it is how cool it looks.

One day, I was thinking to myself...

What would it be like to put other characters in a super smash brothers style fighter. Here, I got my answer. Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL is a very good take on the subject. With characters from my childhood, leading to the shows i like today, just playing the game with friends is just amazing.

THE GAME ITSELF:

The game plays alot like Super Smash Bros. Brawl but with different gimmick's such as;

+The Damage gimmick is still in this game, but if a player hits more then 300% damage in story mode, they will automatically die without warning.

+The final smash (re-named Punch Time Explosion in this game) can be used at anytime, as long as the player has enough energy cubes to do it. but, the PTE button takes up a certain button, whereas smash bros brawl uses its neutral B/1 (special attack) to use a final smash. to sum it all up, the final smash system is pretty good, but the fact that it uses one button and that one button isn't used at all but that one thing is pretty useless to me.

PROS:

+ This game features an "unlock shop", were the player can buy extra character's (only character's that were featured in the 3DS version as assist are available to purchase) more costumes for your favorite character, more stages to fight on, and even hilarious memorable clips from my favorite CN shows!

+ The game takes alot of arena's from different CN shows, to be exact, each CN show in the game gets 2 to 3 arena's to play on.

+ The RowdyRuff Boy's are playable

+ Very catchy theme song.

CONS:

The game is Ed, Edd, and Eddy less... (I have read that Cartoon Network sold the rights of the Edd's to a different company after "big picture show").

The Assist character's harm the summoner as well (only General Scar and Madam Foster are the only known assist characters that don't hard the summoner).

The UI in game could be re-sized to the point were I don't have to squint my eyes to see my damage percent.

A chunk of the character roster needs to be unlocked by completing story mode (you only start with 9 characters).

Some CPU players walk on air at times.

synergy attacks is a 1 in 28 chance to land on the right character (to preform a synergy attack, the player has to collect a summon cube. However, the character that comes out has to be the one that matches your character in some way. (ex: Fred Fred Burger and Ben, Gwen and Blossom, Edwardo and Bubbles, and Numbah 2 and Scotsman)).

STORY MODE:

The story mode could use some work. I was expecting character voice overs, not blossom yelling "I'm blossom!" with subtitles stating something completely different. Pretty much the only character that actually speaks outside of subtitles is the narrator, and he's no fun to listen to on some occasions. Sometimes you run into stuff that can be easily avoided, but you HAVE to do so to continue on.

PROS:

+4 player story mode co-op, were as Super Smash Bros. Brawl only has 2.

+Very funny dialogue.

+bubbles always makes the game more fun to play, because she mistakenly makes fun of almost everyone she comes across.

CONS:

-platforming is not a challenge here

-the Dexter's FPS challenge works terrible with the Wiimote+Numchuck/Wiimote alone controllers.

-Mini games within the level can get repetitive.

-the story mode is too short in my opinion, Even on hard, i managed to make it though the entire game without getting a game over once.

REPLAY VALUE:

6/10

Gets Boring alone after awhile, only appeals to fellow CN fan's.

OVERALL SCORE: 4/5

I love how Cartoon Network gave me my childhood back with a mix of my favor ate fighting game, if your looking for a inexpensive Wii Fighter, this is the game to buy for the holiday's!

This game is pretty much a straight clone of super smash bros. for those that arent familiar with smash bros. it is essentially a 2 d fighting game with the roster consisting of nintendo characters and arenas inspired by nintendo games. Now take that concept and replace nintendo with cartoon network and you have this game and thats not a bad thing, for me anyway. I have enjoyed smash bros and i think its very entertaining, i just prefer to play as samurai jack or johhny bravo instead of link or wario. Just my preference thats all. Now for this game itself, its surprisingly well done. You can tell the people working on the game definately had an appreciation of the source material. A generous roster of Characters that all have unique moves that suit them, tons of assist characters and a good amount of modes and unlockables keep this entertaining. My only real gripe with this game is the overall lack of polish. I own the 360 version and the graphics arent great wich is sad because the menus and some of the animation during certain story segments look crisp and vibrant in hd, then you start playing the game and i guess considering these are all cartoon characters i was hoping more for an interactive cartoon but instead its kind of bland. The sound could have been more punchy. It sometimes doesent feel like your hits connect because the sound is kind of weak. Lastly, more characters please. This isnt really a complaint because like i said before, the roster is pretty generous. 26 total playable characters and some of the them have costume variants that give the illusion of more characters such as the powerpuff girls can be replaced as the rowdy ruff boys. Its just bound to happen in this fan service type of game where you end up thinking, i wish this character or that character was in here. So to sum this review up, this is an enjoyable game. If you like smash bros and cartoon network you will like this. Fingers crossed for a sequel with more everything, mostly polish.

I used to have so much trouble deciding what to get for the men and boys in my life for the holidays. I've now learned that you can't go wrong with a video game. My nephew is obsessed with the Wii and I cannot believe how good he is at it! He is constantly correcting me while we play, which is good because I get really frustrated when I get stuck. We had a lot of fun playing Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL for Wii.

There are 26 playable characters and 26 battle arenas. My favorite thing about this game is that once you beat a character, you can then play as them. Up to four people can play at a time and there is also a pretty cool story mode. Punch Time Explosion XL is rated Everyone 10+ by the ESRB. This is a really fun game for both kids and adults. Beware though, if you are anything like me, you are going to need a little help from the kids. I really like that though because adults are always teaching kids how to do things and it's really neat to see a child's face after they have taught you something. I love it!

I caught this game on a Christmas Deal, so I payed fairly under regular price for it.'

If you're familiar with video games, this one plays just like Super Smash Bros., from it's story mode to the Battle Mode which is really the meat of the game.

It clones the gameplay pretty well, though there are a lot of balancing issues between the various characters, so don't expect play sessions to get as competitive as they do with most other fighting games out there.

Most of the characters are LOCKED before beating the Story Mode, same as SSM, and the Story Mode will take an hour to two hours to complete, depending on how thorough you are (a friend and I literally ran through it whenever we could on Co-Op Mode) One thing I have to note is that while there is a CO-OP Mode to the Story Mode in the game, there are SEVERAL portions that are ONE PLAYER ONLY, so your friend is left twiddling the thumbs at least one a level. Also note that while you will not unlock all the characters through STORY mode, you'll be able to earn enough credits with one play through to unlock the rest in the game's SHOP section.

Another thing to note is that none of the original voice actors actually do any work for this game, so only expect some of the characters to sound like they should, and expect others to sound WAY off (Father from KND is nowhere close)

My final complaint is that the Save Data in not transferrable. You can copy it to and from a memory stick or flash drive, but it's locked to the User account it was created on and there's no way around this, so if you want to bring it to a friends' house with all the unlockable characters, you'll need to bring your PS3 as well.

Overall, this is a cool game to say you own, and to show friends when they come over, but that's it. You won't get hooked in like other fighting games, and you'll probably want to play something else after about a half hour to an hour.

Compared with this "enhanced" version of "Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion", the 3DS version is merely a prototype !

It's basically the same game but with new stuff added to it. It's got the original 18 characters (Yes, even Captain Planet. Go get the Season 1 DVD set from Shout Factory for Gaia's sake !) plus 8 new playable characters. The first half of newbies are Johnny Bravo, Kevin Leven, Aku and Him, who have been "promoted" from their previous appearances as player assists. The other four are new to the scene: Hoss Delgado (spectral exterminator from "The Grim Adventures"), The Toiletnator (pathetic KND villain), The Scotsman (friend/rival of Samurai Jack) and even a young Ben Tennyson (from when he found the Omnitrix device for the very first time).

The story mode is pretty much the same, but up to four players can play together as well as take on each other in different battle modes like PTE Mode to see who can collect the most energy cubes and Drones Mode where you take on numerous enemies. Also, you can earn points to buy new levels (such as the KND Moon Base and Candy Island from "Flapjack"), the aforementioned characters, alternate costumes, and even 30 TV show clips starring your favorite characters ! Another thing, aside from using PTE super attacks and assist characters, you can also use the brand-new special "Synergy Attack" with certain player assists. There are many different combinations of characters and player assists, so you'd better grab that question-marked cube when it appears so you can try them all out !

Well, overall, I have to say it's good, but still, it's not good enough. No sign of any Ed boys no matter how much we demand it (ideas for alternate costumes for the Eds: Ed Lothar the Viking, Edd The Masked Mumbler, Eddy Professor Scam) as does current hits like "Generator Rex", "Adventure Time with Finn and Jake", and "The Amazing World of Gumball". At least some of the voices have been improved and the animation in the gameplay and cutscenes have better flow.

No matter, it'll at least buy me some time until the next "Super Smash Bros." game or perhaps a Nicktoons-themed fighting game. Other games that will satiate my skills include "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy" a similar brawler game and "Cartoon Network Racing" featuring other characters from shows like "Cow and Chicken" and "Courage the Cowardly Dog". Still, it is kind of fun to see which character will prove who's the best.

As a more casual gamer, I never really understood the necessity of wearing a headset while playing on the Playstation Network or Xbox Live. The Afterglow headset definitely helped me cross that line. I have become familiar with several other gaming headsets through my roommates and other friends, but never was impressed enough to pull the trigger for a pair of my own. I am very happy to have had these given to me as a gift, because I may have never experienced them otherwise.

When it comes to sound quality, as an owner of a pair of Bose QC Headphones (which coincidentally crapped out on me right after the one year warranty expired) and a pair of V-Moda Crossfades, I am very particular and value headphones with crisp, clear sound and solid bass. When I first took this set out of the box, I plugged them directly into my iPod rather than my Xbox. I was astonished with the sound quality, something I didn't quite expect from a pair of headphones built primarily for gaming. Although I still take my Crossfades out the door with me (they are a bit more streamlined) I have found myself using my Afterglow headphones as my primary music listening headphones while at home. The sound is fantastic whether the volume is cranked up or you're listening at a whisper level. Vocals are very clear, and it is easy to separate the sounds of instruments in the music or footsteps and gunfire while gaming. While they are not noise-cancelling, the quality design of the headphones helps block out a fair amount of outside noise, which I find to maximize the sound experience.

One of the most attractive features of these headphones is the inner headband design. Unlike anything I've worn before, at first I was very skeptical of the suspension style strap. I quickly found that it maximizes the comfort of the headphones, while also eliminating the need for the more common click-slide size adjusters (which I now find irritating) found on most other headphones. This headband makes it so there are no noticeable pressure points on the headphones, which is ideal when you find yourself on a multi-hour gaming or music bender. All other headphones that I have used extensively begin to irritate my ears or head after a couple of hours, I have yet to experience that with this set. Additionally the earcups are large enough to fit my oversized ears comfortably without being bulky, a compromise that I generally find lacking in most headphone designs. The only other notable design feature is the retractable microphone, a great feature which makes these headphones a lot less clunky than similarly priced gaming headphones, without sacrificing any quality. Other than that, the design is very effective, nothing too flashy, but much more than you would expect for the reasonable price.

Another feature I find extremely valuable about these headphones is the multi-platform capability. Unlike many other gaming headphones, these are compatible with all major platforms, something that is very useful as all of my roommates/friends seem to prefer different gaming platforms.

Overall, I definitely recommend these headphones for the casual to serious gamer who is looking for a lot of bang for their buck. I have yet to have any issues with this Afterglow set, and would definitely be interested in hearing what people have to say about the wireless set, which I'm sure will be my next gaming headphone purchase when the time comes. Comfortable design and great sound quality make for a great pair of headphones. The lighting effects are just a bonus! Hope this was helpful.

Having used many headsets over many consoles, i can gladly say that the afterglow headset can be placed on the top of my list. The sound quality is amazing compared to other headsets at its price and can even be compared to headsets twice the amount paid for it. Every game I have tried with these did not disappoint with the sound quality i received. The only problem I had with them was the tightness I had when I first used them. But after a week of using them they started to mold and fit snug around my head so it wasn't really a problem.

I am not normally used to wearing headphones, but when my gamer son recommended I try his new Afterglow Universal Wired Headset Blue, I was sold. Not only do they look totally cool with the glowing blue light (especially awesome in the dark), but they feel fantastic, almost too comfortable to take off. "I will never wear annoying ear buds again," claims my son and now I understand why. Plus the sound quality is terrific. My hearing's not great so with Afterglow on I go high on volume and low on disturbing the family. Everybody's happy. Finish off with the fact that these are so very affordable compared to a lot of other headsets on the market that I'm inclined to think we should all have our own!

I got this thinking it would be something nice to have for my PS3 slim..well I was wrong, it does not lock on like it says it does, the moment you pick up your PS3 it falls right off, so unless you like your PS3 just sitting in the same spot forever without having to put this on over and over again, then this is for you, if you don't like it in the same spot for a long period of time, then this is not for you.

Is it a good game? Yes. It has the comic book type storyline like the other Saints Row games, adds some good features (like the super powers and the ability to customize your firepower) and some of the minigames are pretty interesting.

Is it a "new" game? No. It's a full-on continuation of Saints Row 3 in the exact same world. It's basically a giant bonus pack. The alien stuff is different, but this one seemed like lazy writing. They had the "world" laid out, refined the graphics of the people a little, added some new costumes, and then built the new things from there. Lazy. It was like "The Ballad of Gay Tony" or "Undead Nightmare" from the Rockstar lines of GTA and RDR, respectively.

Should you pay $60 for it. No. Wait until the price comes down because it's really not worth that much. Save your money for the new GTA or Assassin's Creed unless you absolutely have to play a new Saints Row game. BUT... when the price comes down, buy it. It IS a fun game, but not worth that price.

This game is pure mindless fun. This game is not GTA V, but that might not be a bad thing.

The Saints Row series didn't really get much popularity until part three of the series .This is just one reviewers opinion but it seems to me that part three is where the series obtained its own style and embraced crazy gameplay in a different way. When playing saints row you will feel how similar the aesthetics of these two series are from the controls to the map to the dialogue.

The Saints Row series trys to embrace its craziness and unrealistic nature. Nearly from the first minute you can jump into helicopters and you can run or swim from one end of the map. There are unlock-able weapons but you get a huge arsenal of crazy items to run around with from the start.

GTA has always had crazy missions and I am not trying to downplay its greatness in the least. Saints Row has been able to craft it's own insanity. For example, there is a mission where you have a high speed chase involving rickshaws pulled by naked people. Gunshots at these rickshaws Rouault in pleasant explosions.

Saints Row four gave me some concern when I read about it. There is a large amount of superhero activity in this game and I was concerned it would detract from the fun. I was wrong. This makes the game extremely enjoyable. You ear powers and you spend the game jumping and flying around.

The main negative from having these powers is that you will not use vehicles anywhere near as much as you did in the previous versions, it simply isn't as easy or as much fun. When thinking about this game think of CRACKDOWN. It has the same brand of running jumping hulk-style pandemonium.

If you have ever enjoyed previous editions of Saints row or even GTA I think you will like this. Part of me wants to say that Saints Row is what GTA could have become if it had embraced its cartoon nature instead of mastering the art of creating virtual city.

If you like to blow stuff up and you want some mindless open world fun you should check this out.

I had never played a Saints Row game until SR3. I thought it was just a cheap fart-joke, knock-off of GTA. I played SR3 and really enjoyed it, minor gripes aside. Liked the humor and the lighthearted approach to gameplay that it had. I got Saints Row 4 thinking that it would be a fun, summertime game that wouldn't stick with me much beyond the couple of weeks I spent playing it. I have to say, this game is EASILY the most fun game I have played all year. It doesn't have the story of a Bioshock or the graphics of a Crysis. It doesn't have the emotional weight and drain that a lot of games with their heavy (albeit great) stories have (Last of Us, Bioshock: Infinite, Metro, Metal Gear). It is just all about having ridiculous servings of fun. I have not been able to put this game down. The super powers are fantastic and make the game a riot to play. The weapons (Dubstep gun, 'Merica Gun, Inflato Ray) make you laugh your face off while wreaking havoc on aliens. The gameplay has been fine tuned significantly since SR3 and the super powers...Awesome. The game is self-referential and self-deprecating while also being an homage to nearly any sci-fi movie, trope, or concept over the past two decades. Funny dialogue. Sing alongs with Pierce. It's all there. I truly cannot recommend this game enough. Embrace the crazy.

I loved saints row 3, and was both completely trusting this would be great, and worried it would not be great at the same time. when I read about super powers and aliens and all that I figured the game could turn out to just be dumb, but I was wrong. it's basically a new version of saints row 3 at super speed. the super sprint, super jump, and crazy stuff like running up walls does not make the game (any more) silly than it originally was, it just makes it much more fun. If you liked saints row the 3rd and can suspend your take of reality even further than you needed to in that game, this wont disappoint. most of the characters are back, and it will all feel familiar like you are back home in steelport. As mentioned on the original saints 4 announcement, its NOT a completely new game in any sense. its the same game engine, same map, same basic concepts throughout, but exponentially crazier. if you want a completely relaxing, unrealistic game of total mayhem, this one is for you. Again, this isn't grand theft auto, you have super powers, you are fighting aliens, so don't buy this then say "this is ridiculous" "this is unrealistic". if you do, its your own fault. to use a totally overused cliché, its saints row the 3rd on steroids. it feels like you are playing saints row the 3rd but in the movie "The Matrix".

Let me start with this, this game is not, nor is it intended to now or ever, to be compared with GTAV. This game stands on it's own as a series and franchise. And here is what this game is, in my opinion. Stress Relief in an interactive form mixed with situations so over the top you will think you are living in an Internet Meme. It makes fun of everything from politics to itself as a creation. It mixes cliche moments with moments of greatness. It is a walking fart joke and youtube prank video. It is mature immaturity wrapped in a bacon deluxe carnage bun with a side of thick cut explosions, all washed down with cold refreshing middle finger to everybody. All of this, while still making the characters memorable, loveable, and laughable to each individual. Everything is over the top, but done in a way that channels the insanity into expectation, making it something that just "works." in this series. From designing your own characters genitalia, to seeing Genki show up at random and launch people from a cannon, to being attacked by a giant energy drink, to *SPOILER* disarming a NUKE mid flight, saving the nation, and taking over the Presidency less than 5 minutes into the game.

If you are looking for a stupid amount of fun, appreciate toilet humor on a scale that makes it humorous, and otherwise embracing what this game is and how it, kinda sadly, reflects the current generational social media fueled gamign culture, you will find an incredible value here. Not just in monetary worth on your hard money spent, but in water cooler moments with your friends, but in the knowledge that no matter how bad your day is, you can hop into Steelport and wash it all away. Great Game, Great Fun, 3rd Street Represent!

The way I see the Tony Hawk series is like this: from THPS to THUG 2, Neversoft was running a marathon, and they were doing really well, too. Then, in 2005, Neversoft tripped by making American Wasteland, which wasn't necessarily a bad game, it just wasn't nearly as good as the others. Now, the eighth installment in the series has come, and I have to admit I'm a little disappointed. At E3, they said that Tony Hawk's Project 8 would be returning to the roots of the Tony Hawk series, and I interpreted that to mean that it would be like a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5. I bought the game and played it. The graphics weren't as good as I expected, but they didn't suck. Overall, Neversoft could have done a bit more polish on this game, and it's definitely not worth $600, but it's a solid entry in the series, and anybody who has been a TH fan since the beginning should give it a whirl.

Ok, first off I have TH3, TH:Underground, TH:AWL all for the PS2. I was impressed by American Waste Lands amount of content and levels. Project 8 doesn't have as much content (No level building or real character creation), but what it serves out it well worth it. They revamped the system and that takes developement time. The open-end game play on the PS3 is sweet. I played the game on the PS2, but was not impressed and didn't think I'd get it due to the lack of content. I purchased a PS3 and was limited to option so I purchased Project 8 and to be able to skate from the residential district to the skatepark to the school and then to the city busting out tricks all along the way is sweet and provides a new experience to Skateboarding on consoles. You can just go on forever. After this I can't wait to see what comes next. If for the Xbox360 or the PS3 the game is well worth it.

I have been playing the Tony Hawk games since the first one on Playstation. I however, stopped keeping up after THUG came out. Recently I purchased a PS3, and wanted a newer THPS game. I ended up choosing Project 8, because of the price and people didn't seem to like Proving Ground. I was horribly disappointed with this game. First of all, you can't disable auto-kick, which is a huge let down for anyone who actually skates. Also, the semi-realistic scaling achieved in THUG, has seem to disappear completely. Second, they removed some of the most iconic skaters from the game, THPS without Reynolds, gimme a break. Third, the game is rated T for teen, but game play seems to have been created with children in mind. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone who skates, or is over the age of 12.

This is a great game and you can get it for an unbeatable price on Amazon. I have been addicted to it for a few weeks now and cant stop. The "Nail a Trick" aspect is awesome and the different areas of the game have incredible detail. The goals are challenging but doable. The graphics of the characters in the goal minivideos could be better but thats not why im playing the game and you shouldn't be playing for that either. Classic THPS gameplay that doesnt disappoint.

Tony Hawk's Project 8 tries to go back to the basics of what made the first games so likable, while still keeping a "story" for those who thought that was a good addition. The game has a simple story, the "classic" goals as well as tons of others, and is just plain fun to play. In holding true to the Tony Hawk's series you can string together tons and tons of tricks and there are even a few new ones that you haven't been able to do in previous games to rack up points, to complete goals, to eventually become one of the top 8 skaters and join Tony Hawk's new crew. This game is fun to play, has great graphics, and was worth the $19.99 price. If your a fan of the other games, you will like this one too.

Just got my 12GB slim and before firing it up I was going to put in my 500GB HDD. Please note the following:

* There is no physical 2.5" SATA drive installed.

* There is no HDD mounting bracket, that is a separate purchase of which the only one I could find available on Amazon is this:

http://www.amazon.com/TOMTOP-Mounting-Bracket-System-CECH-400x/dp/B00CRXE932/ref=pd_sim_sbs_e_1

So another $15 unless you can find the $10 Sony branded kit.

I guess the problem was me assuming it had a 12GB 2.5" SSD, where in actuality it is flash memory embedded on the board. I have the drive in there and rigged up so its not going anywhere, but it's just unfortunate this was not well documented. Maybe it was and I missed it.

I am excited to see this product. I currently own 3 older PS3 systems and a myriad of other smart TV's, media players, game consoles, etc.

In my opinion, the PS3 has the best media player by far. I use my PS3 systems to watch VUDU, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. The Sony user interface and multimedia controls are outstanding. I do not play video games and I will be purchasing this unit strictly for the media playing capabilities. Finally, the wireless remote allows me to mount the PS3 in a hidden location for a nice, neat install.

YES! I do own this specific model.

I'm an original owner of three 60GB models of the PlayStation 3 and have to say, I'm very satisfied with this model and the pricing.

Unfortunately, the model I own and use in my bedroom (which is used solely for movies and streaming Netflix/Hulu Plus) has decided to give into the YLOD and no longer functions. I've been waiting for a model such as this to be released that was not bundled into a package with games I do not need and a service (PlayStation Plus) that I already subscribe too. With the purchase of this machine, I can easily remove my previous hard drive, insert it into this model and start back up exactly where I left off for the low-price of $199.99 shipped.

I'm glad Sony listens to their consumers and has finally released a model focused towards their audience of media junkies that would love to have the functionality of casual gaming once and a while but focus more towards the media capabilities of the PlayStation 3 platform.

If you're looking for a brand new PS3 model to replace your faulty or broken PS3, this is the model for you. Simply remove your old hard drive, install it into this model and you're back to where you left off without having to break the bank with purchasing a refurbished/used model through GameSpot/Craigslist/Amazon/etc.

Mind you, this is the latest model of the PS3, which means it should last you for many years to come.

Go through the training and the free flying. Learn the controls and this game is a blast. Today's world is all about instant gratification...this game has that AFTER about 30 minutes of getting familiar. Take the time to learn first and then enjoy the missions, guided missiles, the cannon and zooming in. Sweet game...can see the future ones getting better and better. 7.8 out of 10.

Like the other review said. It is a very fun game but you need to do the free-fly and training first to get the hang of things. Flying on realistic mode is a blast. The helicopter was very hard to control but after about an hour of messing around I was doing barrel rolls in this beast and coming back around to strafe ground targets. I would recommend a HOTAS, I like this one, Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X. The FLIR view is really cool to zoom in on ground targets like infantry that are very difficult to see in the normal view, just like the cool Liveleak videos. There's an option to watch a replay of your mission and save which is also pretty cool. It saves the entire mission. I had one that went over an hour and the replay had the whole thing, with different views to choose from. I only gave 4 stars because the graphics, while good, aren't the best but pretty typical of any flight sim. Overall a great game that should provide hours of entertainment.
