I've been a big fan of Killzone since it came out on the PS2. With each game the developer has taken slow but SOLID steps in creating a strong FPS game that refuses to pull its punches. Each installment improves upon the existing and Killzone 3 doesn't disappoint. The rumors of a short campaign, blotchy storyline, etc are very overblown. Not only does Killzone 3 deliver a solid, faster paced single player campaign than the previous installment, but the Multi-Player is some of the most addictive I've experienced.

GAMEPLAY Single Player

If you played Killzone 2, better yet... the KZ3 SP demo you know what to expect. I actually found the controls of the final product smoother than the demo. There was more response to the aiming and I even had to turn down my sensitivity from what I had been playing the demo at. The campaign of the game easily spans about 6-8 hours or did so for me, which is far better than the 4-5 hrs some review sites were claiming. They either rushed through the game or played it on Easy (which is no fun, you feel like a god on Easy mode) Combat is fast yet smooth with the enemy AI being quite smart in how it combats you. You can see there was a very high polish put into the Helghast AI as they will consistently take cover, blind fire and work to create flanking setups on you. If you played through Killzone 2's campaign KZ3 has a similar setup to how it progresses(cutscene, tons of combat/action, cutscene... rinse and repeat) The gameplay gets changed up consistently. You can go from ground n' pound style to suddenly on a tank turret back to ground pounding then suddenly in a mech then flying a jetpack etc. There are some rail shooter events (clearly designed for the MOVE controller support) but they actually do a great job giving you a break from being a foot soldier. Overall, the single player campaign has quite a lot to offer with plenty of variety and embracing you in a true feeling of war.

Multiplayer Not my strong point but the MP is actually enjoyable. If you played the KZ3 MP demo there isn't much that has changed other than new maps and some small improvements. The MP setup is the best Killzone has offered yet and might even give Call of Duty a run for its money on the PS3. While the MP might not be for everyone it is definitely worth checking out and has a lot of potential for some great competitive matches.

STORY/SOUND

Killzone is pretty much the story of the ISA and Helghast war. First Helghast invades the ISA, the ISA counter and Killzone 3 picks up right where Killzone 2 ends. Don't expect an award winning storyline here but it is present. Killzone 3 focuses this time on the ISA efforts to escape as well as the internal workings of the Helghast leaders. It provides more depth than the previous games while not being to overly chatty. Killzone 3 does a better job presenting the story than Killzone 2 did I feel, but it also brings to light the storyline is very weak. However, story was never really Killzone's main object. *** The Audio in KZ3 is fantastic. Guns sound powerful, AI units and Helghast enemies sound very life like. Ambient noise is incredible especially during firefights. You can tell they worked really hard polishing this game so that the audio effects help immerse you into the gameplay.

GRAPHICS

I don't even have to say much here. The graphics look amazing. While they aren't jaw dropping nor give you "awe factor" like sun sets and stuff; Killzone 3 uses its powerful graphic engine to give you a very realistic feel of the battle. Snow, water, fire, gun shots.. it all looks amazing and creates stunning environments. The only negative I could say about the graphics is that when you go to a cut-scene the character textures don't look nearly as good as the weapon and level textures. But, we all know we're playing Killzone 3 for the in game action not looking at how bad Sev needs a new haircut ^_^

REPLAY/LENGTH

As said earlier, for me the SP campaign on NORMAL clocked in at 6-8 hrs give or take. The campaign was a ton of fun and just like Killzone 2 I could see myself playing through it quite a few times to try for some trophies, or just to own some Helghast. What truely boosts the length and replay-ability of this game is the MP. I wasn't fond of KZ2's multiplayer so while KZ2 had lots of SP replay for me, it did lack that MP edge. KZ3 however comes to the table with all cylinders firing. While SP is def worth replaying, the MP is what is worth keeping this game within arms reach at all times. Even if you are not competitive(casual like me), the MP is fun with plenty of features to keep you occupied for some time.

OVERALL (91% 9.1/A-)

Killzone 3 didn't disappoint. It has been a long wait and well worth it. The MP is better than expected and the SP-campaign exceeded my expectations. I would give this game overall a 91% (9.1/10). The game fired on all cylinders and what small negatives I encountered were far from game breaking. The only real gripes I would take I found in the SP-campaign.

1. The ISA voice acting wasn't really that good. There was no sense of urgency in their voices and it just felt like they were reading lines (except for Rico, Sev and Jammer they had some great voice acting, as did the Helghast)

2. Sometimes the Objective marker would simply bug out. When I would try to tag where I had to go nothing would appear and my objectives menu would be empty (but I clearly had to destroy 2 more tanks or set a door charge somewhere). Minor annoyance

3. Melee damaged doors to open them oddly, I would Melee the door and about a second later it would explode. Weird lag, only was happening on the interactive doors you could break.

Outside of those 3 issues the game was pretty much a fantastic FPS that well warrants a 91% score. It delivers a solid SP campaign experience and outstanding MP setup. A MUST BUY for any FPS fan

** v1.03 was released 2/24/2011 this version has fixed Issue 2 and Issue 3 on my end **

I have now finished the single-player campaign and spent over 10 hours playing online multiplayer (all modes). I played through the campaign using the Move controller. I played through part of the campaign again using the standard controller. I played through the entire campaign in 3D and through part of it in 2D, to compare.

So I've pretty much blown every whistle and rung every bell Sony's including with this game (the only thing I haven't tried is the offline co-op). Here's what I thought of the entire thing:

The Good:

Online Multiplayer. It's incredibly fun. Using the Move controller gives you better accuracy, which usually lands me in first or second place. It almost feels like cheating, but this is the direction Sony took.

Single player campaign. Ignore the bitter critics who are crying because they didn't get a chance to play it in 3D or they're rendered incapable of praising any FPS that doesn't star Master Chief or have someone Calling for Duty. This is in the top 10 best FPS titles ever made. Its set-pieces are similar to early Lucas or Spielberg movies in how EPIC they are. Think Raiders of the Lost Ark or any of the first 3 Star Wars' films. It's a really well put together game with more jaw-dropping moments than the last 3 Halos combined.

The Move Controls. They work better than you could imagine. They work better than the dualshock itself. It's the closest you're going to come to the keyboard/mouse experience on a console, without literally using a keyboard and mouse on a console. Very accurate. Very fun to play.

The graphics. Pure awesomeness. Thought Killzone 2 looked good? This one looks better.

The Bad:

As much as I loved it, the campaign is way too short (7 hours to finish on medium difficulty) and may be just a little too disjointed. There were a few times where they went overboard making scenes that would stand out in 3D and leave 2D gamers scratching their heads. If the single-player campaign ran 10-20 hours, I would have given Killzone 3 a 5 out of 5. I'm sure they'll have more of the game to sell us later (there's a "6 months later" moment that feels created for DLC).

Lack of maps. I'm not sure how many maps the game comes with, but with 10+ hours of play time, I haven't seen more than 6 or 7. Not to mention, everyone memorizes one map and then keeps voting to play it over and over again, which is really annoying. Again, I'm sure they'll have plenty more maps to sell us later as DLC. Am I the only one noticing that to get a "full" game, you have to shell out around $120? Seems like sort of a scam.

The Ugly ... er ... "Helghast":

The 3D. The 3D worked well enough. Some parts were worthy of pure amazement. One section had me screaming out to my girlfriend, "Now THIS is what 3D gaming's about!" Then I felt like a geek. A geek wearing $100 3D glasses. Thinking back on it, it's hard to believe she's stayed with me this long.

The problem with the 3D is the nonstop crosstalk (it's worse in darker areas and cutscenes). If you're not all that familiar with 3D, crosstalk basically looks like you're having double (or even triple) vision. This can be pretty problematic when you're staring at three crosshairs, when there's only supposed to be one. I just kept the, "hit the one in the middle" line from Rocky IV in mind. It's the worst crosstalk I've seen in a game or in a movie. Which sucks, because, had it not been wrecked by the crosstalk, it would have easily been the best 3D ever put into a game.

That said, if you have the chance, I'd recommend playing in 3D. At least a few of the scenes (feel free to ask me in the comments, which parts work best in 3D -I don't want to give away spoilers in this review). But for all the 3D hype, the game looks and plays just fine in 2D. I wouldn't invest in that 3DTV just yet -at least not if you're doing so just for this game. On the other hand, I'd definitely invest in this game. If you're a fan of shooters; you won't be disappointed!

The single player mode is short but oh how sweet it is! Fantastic looking environments, constant action, and melee kills that make you feel like a badass!

The multiplayer mode has amazing maps, and several different classes to choose from. This is so different from games like COD because you can actually choose how you want to play the game. Do you want to infiltrate the other team and trick them into believing you are one of them? Or is healing people more your style? Well you can do either, plus much more!

Also, if you have slow internet or just don't like playing online, it also has a botzone mode, which is essentially an offline multiplayer where you compete with AI Bots. This mode is a great way to explore maps and decide which class is your favorite! Buy this game! You won't regret it!

Matching the enormous expectations that people had for Killzone 2 a few years back was a very tall order, but Guerrilla games managed to pull it off. With Killzone 3 Guerrilla does it again making everything look larger in scope.

The graphics are top notch and top what was done in the second game, incredible in itself considering K2 was one of the best looking games in the market. One thing is for sureyou won't find a better looking FPS out there. And yes, Crysis 2 is pretty but the level of detail on K3 just takes the game to a completely different level.

Control is spot on with both a dual shock and Move. I was pleasantly surprised about the latter. I didn't think I was able to pull accurate shots as easily but I was wrong. Move implementation makes playing the game excellent.

Multiplayer has seen an evolution from K2 that makes the challenge even more entertaining. The skill ladder allows for newcomers to rank up right away, while allowing experienced players to have further rewards for the time they put into it.

The story has received some criticism, but those comments are misleading. The reality is that the story in K3 is just as good as K2's. What it means is that it is far better than most of the FPS's out there but not as dramatic as an Uncharted 2 or Heavy Rain. Of course, those two games are very tall orders to beat. Killzone 3's story is good and even more compelling than K2's as it was a great idea to focus on what happened after the events of the latter with a small ISA force stranded in Helhgan and going from bad to worse. The acting is good and even Rico is more appealing this time around.

The only complaint about the game, and a minor one at that, is how most of the "heft" that your character had in K2 has been removed to appeal to those used to the loose controls of the likes of Call of Duty or Halo. I prefer the K2 controls as not only they made the character feel more realistic but also allowed for more accurate shooting in motion.

Killzone 3 is a MUST HAVE game for every PS3 owner and even for action/FPS game enthusiasts out there.

If you're looking for a quality PS3 controller, this is not the company you should be shopping with. I recently bought two controllers from this company because the price was right and I thought I was getting an actual playstation 3 controller. I was wrong. The controllers themselves are simply playstation 2 controllers with a PS3 cable. They are not wireless and there are no stickers for the square, triangle, circle, and X buttons. I went to use them and the analog sticks do not work well at all with any of my playstation 3 games, including Ghost Recon 2, NCAA 08, Splinter Cell, Formula 1 Championship, etc. I tried to contact the company to see about returning the controllers and I have yet to hear back from them. Just spend the extra money to get an actual PS3 controller, I promise you'll be dissapointed with these.

I bought to of these and it would of been easier to through my money in the trash. Not only did it take a month and half to get them, once I did they did not work. I would not buy anything from this company again and would tell everyone I know not to buy these products.

No issues with it thus far, received it swiftly, the select button is a little tough to press but the rest of the buttons have a nice stiffness to them personally. Definitely a good buy for the price, no compatibility issues yet either. Plays Street Fighter IV and I made a Pinnacle profile for it, no rumble unfortunately but for 14 bucks with s+h no other real complaints.

This is a review for the Love Is Over edition of the game, not the actual game itself which is great. The Stray Sheep "pizza box" this comes in is nothing more than an ordinary cardboard box that you might get with a computer component with a sticker slapped on it. The pair of boxers are some sort of cheap fabric. The artbook doesn't really have that much art in it and is more of a "behind the art" book. It also has one picture of some of the main characters and a little blurb about them before going completely into the art and style of Catherine and only Catherine. No environment art at all. No extra art or explanations for the other characters in the game. Although I'm not really surprised that the pillowcase had only Catherine on it, it would have made sense to have Katherine on the other side. The soundtrack is ok even though it doesn't have all the tracks from the game on it and the T shirt is good quality. I like the overall premise of this deluxe edition, but it wasn't as "lovely" as I had hoped.

Buy Catherine "Love Is Over" Deluxe Edition Now

I like to get special editions of video games to see if they're worth the extra money, and the Catherine "Love is Over" Deluxe Edition is BARELY worth the extra $20. Since CDs and novelty t-shirts generally run around $10 each, you would technically break even, but the contents of the Deluxe Edition are really unnecessary.

Pizza box: That's exactly what it is. A pizza box with a cheap sticker slapped on the front. Personal sized pizza(possibly deep dish), to be exact. The cardboard is as cheap as any disposable pizza box you'd get from a major pizza chain.

Vincent's Boxers: I can't compare the quality of the Vincent's boxers to other boxers because I don't normally wear boxers, but the material is relatively thin and a 65/35 blend of polyester and cotton. Men's size L.

"Empty" t-shirt: The material is kind of thin, but it wouldn't be bad for everyday use, especially on some of the warmer days. The shirt is 100% cotton and from Gildan, a fairly reputable company that makes blank shirts for custom printing. Men's size L.

Pillowcase: Clearly made for display purposes, but try explaining something like this to your mom/wife/girlfriend. It'll certainly raise their eyebrows, but I suppose it's at least pretty PG/PG-13 rated. Pretty standard and about as well made as any generic pillowcase. 55/35 blend of cotton and polyester. Twin/Std sized.

"Artbook": When I heard that this was only 36 pages, I immediately dismissed it. An CE artbook should be no shorter than 50 pages, and a REAL artbook is over 150 pages. It's more like an extended manual with character bios and a quick insight into Shoji Meguro's motives for remixing the classical pieces that he did. You can expect to see a lot of the same images that are already floating around the internet. And for some reason, it's written in English and French. The real 160 page artbook is being released by Atlus in August.

Sound Disc: Please not that this is a sound DISC. And NOT a soundTRACK. It even says on the artbook that it's a "sound disc". That said, it's an amazing piece of work. Shoji Meguro has taken some of the greatest pieces in classical music and remixed them to fit the frantic atmosphere of Vincent's nightmare sequences.

Tracklist

1. Holst Planet's Suite (Mars + Jupiter)

2. Beethoven Symphony No. 5 in C Minor (3rd Movement "Fate")

3. Bach Fugue in G Minor (The Little)

4. Dvorak Symphony No. 9 in E Minor "From the New World" (1st and 3rd Movements)

5. Rossini William Tell Overture Part 2 "The Storm" and Part 3 "The Ranz des Vaches"

6. Borodin Polovtsian Dances

7. Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition "The Hut on Fowl's Legs (Baba-Yaga)"

8. Bizet L'Arlesienne Second Suite "Farandole"

9. Chopin "Revolutionary Etude"

10. Handel Messiah "Hallelujah Chorus"

11. Chopin Piano Sonata No. 2 "Funeral March" (3rd Movement)

"Catherine" Game: It's nothing short of amazing. The sim and puzzle genres are an unlikely mix, but Atlus really pulls it off. The sim part comes into play when Vincent's at the bar with his friends. He mingles with other patrons, answers texts, plays an arcade game called Rapunzel, and drinks (of course). The puzzle part is from his nightmares: he must pull, push, and climb towers of blocks while avoiding traps, other sheep who will try to sabotage him, and/or ridiculously creepy bosses that chase him up the towers. You know that saying that goes "easy to learn, difficult to master"? Well the opposite is true for Catherine. It's difficult to learn, but once you've learned all the techniques and can see pathways, it's easy to master.

EDIT: The soundtrack doesn't have a lot of the great songs that you hear in the game, ie the awesome Title Screen song, the "Yo" song, etc...which is HALF OF THE SOUNDTRACK! It only has the nightmare sequence music, which I think is really STUPID. The nightmare sequence music only works for me when I'm playing the game. If I'm paying $80, then give me the FULL SOUNDTRACK! The "Original Soundtrack" has ALL the songs you hear in the game, ie. title screen, the Stray Sheep jukebox. And for some really lame reason it was only released in Japan. AND WHY WAS THAT ATLUS? So I had to download it separately to get the songs I'm missing. Really pisses me off they didn't include THE BEST Music with the Deluxe Edition in the US on the freaking DISC. >:(

I got the Special Edition in the mail yesterday. Amazon rocks! So I put it in and... 7 hours later I'm still playing it and only stopped cause I had to go to sleep. This game is amazing. Right now I'm at stage 6, level 2. (There are 8 stages). It may seem too short but it has multiple endings and a lot of re-playability.

Graphics: I don't like Anime. Let me repeat. I'm DO NOT LIKE ANIME. I don't hate it, i just don't care for it. But this game looks beautiful. It actually makes me sorta like Anime more. But overall, the graphics look beautiful.

Music: See my edit above. If you've played Persona 3 then you will know some of the songs here. The music works very well. In the nightmare stages the music fits when the stage has a foe chasing you and when it's more a stage to get you used to the new stage elements that have been introduced. The music outside of the nightmare sequences is just awesome.

Story: Here is where the game shines the most. You play Vincent who is having nightmares every night. At the same time, he is being pressured by his long time girlfriend, Katherine, to take their relationship to the next step. And on top of this, another girl, Catherine, is seducing him and trying to take him for her own. Now he is caught in a web of lies, secrets and guilt. Every time you pass a nightmare sequence you wake up to more drama in his real life. It's very engaging.

Gameplay: I really hate to call the nightmare sequences "puzzles" cause it sorta makes it less than what it is. These are Vincents nightmares. He has to climb to the top of these evil towers to escape so as to night die in real life. So the tower begins to fall down as you start climb, or there some huge monster chasing you. Everything in the dreams is connected to his real life in some way. There is more I would like to say to make sense of the sheep you see on the cover, but I don't want to spoil anything.

You are given questions to answer here and there throughout the game that determine the direction the story will go for you. The game has multiple endings and difficulties and medals you can get depending on how fast you climb the towers. So you can get a lot of game play out of it.

Overall, I love this game. I think it is pure genius. The issues that it addresses are very relate-able and really suck you into the story.

The Special Edition comes with just a pillow case, not an actual pillow by the way. The Special Edition isn't really all that worth the extra $20 in my opinion but this game is so special i just HAD to have it so I don't regret it. There hasn't been a game like this in a long time. I'm VERY impressed with how well they pulled off this whole concept and made a very VERY fun game.

If you are hesitant on this game, then try the demo. But i will warn you, the demo doesn't really do a great job in tying in the nightmare sequences with the story so you may get the wrong idea. Also the nightmare parts are a lot more complicated once you play the full game, and they get really creative, fun...and HARD. If you can rent the game, that would be best. But I would say if you like it, to go ahead and buy it. It's one of the few games out there that is worth full price in my opinion.

Want Catherine "Love Is Over" Deluxe Edition Discount?

I love this game, it feels really unique and innovative, the gameplay is also a lot of fun, it can be a bit difficult at first but once you get the hang of it, it becomes very addicting, the story is probably the best feature of catherine, this is one of the few games that really made me care about the character and the story and to see what's gonna happen next, the music is also top notch, the soundtrack cd only comes with 11 tracks but i was able to ding the official japanese 34-tracks soundtrack in the japanese itunes store and it's absolutely amazing, it is definitely worth a try, i do not regret any minutes and dollars spent on this game ^^

OK, the game itself isn't that bad. Despite the cheesy graphics and goofy storyline, the music is actually OK.

My bad review is on the instrument peripherals.

The airstrike drums are completely frustrating and UNfun. They don't register hits half the time. You're not actually playing drums, you're striking the air with the drumsticks. The IR sensor has to be exactly aligned with the drum sensors and you have to "shake" it to get it to register the hit. It definitely does not feel like you're really playing drums. Do yourself a favor, use a Rock Band drum kit.

And then the "real guitar." It really is technically a real guitar, that you can use to play this game. But it's mostly a gimmick-don't expect to actually learn how to play guitar. This is a rhythm game just like guitar hero, except you're using a real guitar with strings instead of a plastic guitar with buttons.

The only addition is the option to play "power chords". The game uses a whopping TWO power chords-one uses two fingers and one uses one finger-and the fingering is exactly the same no matter where it's played on the fretboard. A monkey can learn how to do that.

Actually playing the song with the power chord option, I did not find to be very much fun either.

If you want to learn real guitar skills I suggest you get Rock Band 3 and buy the pro guitar peripheral.

I paid $40 dollars for this item as a gift and it was well worth it. The game originally sold for $149.99. What comes with the package is a 3/4 size real electric guitar. Not only does it work with the game you can also plug it up to an amp. The build quality of the guitar is really good for a "game" controller. If you are intersted in learning this would be a really good starter guitar. The game itself has a steep learning curve but it will teach you some fundamental guitar lessons. So for $40 its a must buy for the guitar alone.

Let me start by saying that I've followed this series since Dynasty Warriors 3. In my opinion, that was its peak. I've bought every game, and many of the expansions. Upon hearing that battles from previous games would be included, I was hopeful that the good old DW3 maps would be a focal point. They were not. There are a couple maps from each installment from DW3 to DW6. There is really only one mode with significant replay value, and that's legend mode, which features a nice collection of battles to be unlocked and played with any character you want. You return to your castle town after each battle. The town features a strategist from which you can purchase increased attack, defense, points, speed, or power for the character you have selected. You also can purchase weapons from the weapon-smith, and choose which of about 10 places to send a merchant who brings back gold, weapons, or guardian animals. You also appoint an adjutant to watch over the castle town, but he really doesn't matter. The battles feel no different from DW7, but they are quite enjoyable. You can play with friends now, which is nice. I'm glad Koei remembered that some people still have friends. The new characters are fun to play with and I love the new weapons. I've nearly beat the game, and I can't help but feel rather unsatisfied. The game feels kind of empty. I realized this was because of the lack of cutscenes and no progressive story for each character. Before each battle, the story is read to you as the stage loads, but this hardly takes the place of the epic, mood-setting movies and unique stages of the older installments. Some of the battles are rather cheesy. For example, on one of the last battles, you follow Liu Shan around as he says stupid things and looks for childhood toys and friends. There are a few cutscenes, but they are rare and not all that exciting. One thing that really disappointed me is that you can't choose the BGM for the battles. Basically, this is a collection of new battles and a good way to level up characters. If you liked DW7, you should enjoy this, but there is little that is really "legendary" or "extreme" about DW7 Xtreme Legends.

I have been a long time fan of this series. So, when a new one came out, of course I bought it. While there are some nice new features (described in the description), and three new characters, I found Legend Mode to be where I am spending most of my time. The new weapons, as always are neat, and the OMG THIS IS INSANE mode is exactly what it promises. However, Legend Mode lets you pick a character and bring a dead town back to life. There are plenty of new scenes for this Mode, new stages (or just ones from old games and revamped ones), and a new ability....buy ups in your life/attack/defense/etc. The most annoying areas were the still disappearing characters (the enemy gets too far away and vanishes) and having to change disks between XL and 7 to play Legend Mode. This is a great addition to the series with a great deal of replay value.

The title says it all. The amount you enjoy this game will depend on which systems you enjoyed the most. I started with Dynasty Warriors 3 so it's hard to say that I really loved this game because you can't create your own officers and I miss the body guard system. Regardless, good game and if like me you will play every game in this genre regardless of quality then I recommend it.

It's been since the 4th game since I've been into the series, mainly because I had heard it was falling away from what makes it fun, but decided to give this one a chance, and I am not disappointed. It's a the series upgrade I've been waiting for since the PS2 for the PS3.

The PS2 and the PS3 have the same type video output, so if you get or have the PS2 component video cable, it will work with the PS3. Also, the cables labled as for the PS2 seem to be cheaper.

I waited a month fot this item to be in stock, until some guy at Game Stop told me this. I had the PS2's component video cable, so I just connected it to the PS3 and I got my HD. A guy in wal mart also told me that the XBOX 360's cable would work, but this is unverified.

Ignore the stars I assinged, the site won't let you post if you don't rate, and I just wanted to get this info out there.

Yes you can get cheaper HD on the PS3 with optical audio, but I didn't feel like running all over town for the 1/4-the-price component + stereo cable and then hunting for a decent length optical toslink cable so I got this instead. It's on the pricey side as you'd expect from Monster but the connectors are nice machined pieces instead of unreliable rolled sheet metal. They wont break the connector board off the back of your TV or AV receiver when you try to plug them in or remove them.

It's also quite long (ladies...) and having both cables the same length means you wont be stuck with unsightly coiled wires in the ten foot span between the shiny new game console on your mantle and your home theatre on the other side of the room.

I feel it's a decent buy because other stores can gouge you for cables (alliteratively named electronics stores, I'm looking in your direction!!) and the combo pack isn't really much more expensive than individual ps2/ps3 component and toslink cables. If you can find them 10 feet long.

Lost an overall star for the high price and my personal shame at buying this brand.

Lost fun-ness stars because well... it's just not that fun.

They don't say it anywhere on the packaging or on this page, but these cables are great for the PS2. The connection ports for the component video cables are identical on the PS2 and PS3.

I was just forced to replace my PS3 with the new slim model (which dropped PlayStation 2 backward compatibility) so I bought a new PS2 and got these cables to go with it. The component cables work excellently, if not a little too good since they make it that much easier to see the limitations in the PS2's graphics (ah how spoiled I've become by HD graphics in games)... but I'm confident these are among the best cables to use with the PS2 console. The package also comes with a separate digital audio cable that plugs into the PS2's optical audio port. Although PS2 games don't really take advantage of it, I was at least able to connect it to my receiver to get the ProLogic audio output and it sounded great.

I was very pleased by the look of the cables as well, they're modern looking and don't have the standard analog audio cables attached that would otherwise just tangle unplugged.

If you're looking to get the best possible video and audio out of your PS2, these cables are a great option. Although HDMI is a far superior connection for the PS3, PlayStation 3 users who are unable to connect through HDMI would probably find these to be a solid choice as well.

I ordered the cable with two day shipping and got it promptly. The cables and packaging seem to be high quality for the price, and I am able to set my PS3 to 1080p hooked up to my 55 inch Sony. The image quality looks as good as HDMI (I purchased this because a power surge destroyed my PS3's HDMI output).

BIG caveat, and not this products fault by any means.. Make sure your TV has a digital audio input if you are not hooking this to a sound system. My Sony KDL55HX729 has a digital audio connection, which I stupidly assumed would be an input (or some kind of dual mode) when it is an output only. I'm not a home entertainment expert, especially on the audio side of things, so perhaps no TVs have this as an input. My 32 inch Bravia only has digital audio out as well.

So now I need to buy another cable that has the component (Red, Green, Blue) with composite audio (Red, White) to get sound on my TV speakers. Just a warning to anyone else in my situation. Check your inputs!

I have a really old HDTV that doesn't have HDMI inputs. It only has component and DVI. So when I finally bought my PS3 in late 2010, I needed component video cables for it. This package actually contains 2 separate cables. The component video cable and the optical digital cable are not attached to each other in any way. Which is a good thing! Considering you get both of these cables at such a low price, it's a good value if you're stuck with using component video. These are genuine Monster brand cables, so the build quality is solid.

I had played the GBA version of the original stuntman awhile ago and remembering it fondly I picked up Ignition. I haven't been disappointed with this game yet, unless you consider cursing at your screen a disappointment, and I don't. The restart option is your friend here as you memorize each increasingly insane filmed stunt until you make it to the end. The lengths of the stunts vary as do the quality of the shenanigans involed but more often than not you will be laughing with this games over the top sense of humour and its skewering of "pop" film directors like "robert Rodrino" as well as the sheer manic feel of the some of the major stunts. The games strength like others before it (Crazy Taxi/Carmageddon) is the joy of the combo and once you five star a run you will feel quite a bit of satisfaction. The music is a little metaly and the directors barking can get annoying but sound effects wise the game is also terrific otherwise. The star system of unlocking films might be daunting for some, but the extra options like odd jobs, freestyle, and stunt constructor set all help fill the time when you are stuck on filming a certain scene. There is way too much precision involved here for the included 6 axis motion control and unlocking the constructor parts can be a bit of work but there is alot of ground to cover here for those who love the gas pedal and don't mind the restart button. I hope THQ doesn't kill the franchise but if this is the finale its a grand sendoff. For the price you can't go wrong IF YOU LIKED BURNOUT PARADISE you should give this a shot.

This is a game like Mom used to makeequally unforgiving and fun, but very satisfying when you pull off a level. This is not a game that can be played through in one sitting, but will take a long time if you go for all the bonuses and 5 star courses. Is it repetitive? Sure is, just like every other game ever made. The deal here is that each re-try feels like a tutorial on how to perfect each level. You'll be learning a lot too, because restarting levels is the name of this game! That's not really a bad thing, just something you have to be prepared for.

Once you do pull a good run and finish all the different stunts in each "movie", your treated to a trailer for the "film". You can see the time that the developer put into these trailersgreat stories, great voice acting, and just the right amount of cheese-factor make tthese trailers a treat. Once you complete a couple of films the individual events open up, and then the game really shines. One event may have you driving in a commercial, while another puts you into a daredevil stunt show. These are arguably more fun than the main game, so it's a real bonus. Also don't miss the online mode where you can build and share your own stunt track creation.

It's a shame this game didn't catch on when it was released because it's really fun, and is not the same old racer. Bonus is that now we can enjoy Stuntman Ignition at a bargain price.

It's difficult to find a reason for purchasing this item, at this price, for a PS3. USB cables are 'standard' and they tend to be cheap. I've been using USB cables for years already, most of them had come 'free' with the equipment they were supposed to connect and I haven't yet found ONE cable that didn't work or stopped working. Since the PS3 has no special USB requirements all it needs is a generic/standard wire there is no reason other than 'marketing' to justify the claim that this cable is specifically for PlayStation 3 or ' for PlayStation 3 controllers' because ALL usb-A to Mini-B will work with PS3 controllers.

The main use for a USB cable with a PS3 is to charge the controllers. Any USB-A male to Mini-USB male cable of any length can be used for this purpose. One comes 'free' with the PS3 and extras such as Amazon's own AmazonBasics USB 2.0 A-Male to Mini-B Cable (6 Feet / 1.8 Meters) [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] can be purchased for a fraction of the cost.

Another use would be to transfer data to/from an attached hard disk that comes with a Mini-B USB interface. The same cable used to charge the controller and, again, one comes with the PS3, can be used.

Finally, in the rare occurrence when your controller needs charging and you want to play while it's charging, the [AmazonBasics USB 2.0 A-Male to A-Female Extension Cable (9.8 Feet / 3.0 Meters) [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] or any equivalent will give you a total of 16 ft. of freedom by extending a 6 ft. USB cable by another nearly 10 ft.. I know that this works well because I am using one of them myself.

The cable gets 2 stars because it works and Monster would replace it if it didn't but I can't see how it could possibly be rated any higher given its being 3-4 times more expensive than most moderately price similar cables that provide the exact same level of performance.

Monster cables have been, and always will be, the most overpriced and over hyped cables on the market. Especially with cables like these. I'm pretty sure that even while plugged in the ps3 controller still transmits over bluetooth. So what exactly is this BS about "maximize data transfer." even if the data did transmit over the cable, NO ONE would notice even the slightest difference between this cable and a $0.99 budget cable of the same length. Durability? give me a break. When was the last time you had a usb cable stop working? (meaning there was nothing wrong with anything but the cable) And at this price you could buy 14 budget cables!! what do you think will last longer? 14 budget cables of comparable quality, or one of these overpriced pieces of garbage? I will never in my life support monster in anything they do. And don't think that, because this is listed as a PS3 peripheral, its any better than a standard usb cable. Do some research. Stay away from monster. they are thieves.

I have tried all of the other USB charging cables on the market, and there is no other than can charge my controllers as well as this one. The extra thick cable and gold-plated connectors really make a difference. When I pick up my controller after charging it with this cable, it just feels like it was charged better; it has a little more heft. And, I think that my games are just a little more responsive due to the electrons not being degraded from passing through an inferior cable.

I have no complaints about this cable. I bought it to connect a guitar amp with my laptop for recording purposes. I get an interference free signal which is a must for what I am using this for. LOVE it! I have only used it once to charge a PS3 controller and it did the job.

Want PlayStation 3 Monster Cable GameLink USB to Mini-USB Discount?

People that would be a sucker to buy this would probably go buy a gold plated tin can, sure it's coated in gold, but it's still a tin can.

Buying this cable doesn't make much more sense.

A usb cable is a usb cable, and insulation and gold plating are just simply NOT neccessary, you would have to go through 6 regular cables before the purchase of this cable would be justified.

As one of the other wise reviewers stated, Monster is notoriously overpriced, and are infamous for insulating and gold plating cables that quite frankly are just for looks and have no functional value what-so-ever.

Flow is a good game. Flower is a GREAT game. But Journey... Journey is the best game I've played in my life, and I've been playing since the days of the Nintendo Entertainment System in the 1980s. The following review is SPOILER FREE.

It's difficult to put into words what exactly makes Journey so special. As the title implies, it's more of an "experience", and I might even call it a spiritual/digital pilgrimage, as odd as that might sound. I have never before been so captivated while playing a game, so fully immersed, and so interested in what would come next. This accomplishment is even more remarkable when you consider that Journey contains no dialogue (written or spoken), and breaks many of the standard conventions that gaming relies upon.

My recommendation for your first time through is to play it in solitude, in a darkened room, preferably with a good sound system, as the music is phenomenal. On the visual side, an HDTV is a must, and the larger the screen, the better. This is an incredibly immersive experience, and the more you can focus on it, the more you will get out of it. On subsequent playthroughs, it's fun to watch a friend play, and take joy in their reactions to the wonders they experience.

Journey contains an orchestral soundtrack that is breathtaking, and fits the game perfectly. The visuals are equally spellbinding, and they become more and more fantastic as your journey progresses. Photos do no justice to the feelings that Journey's sweeping landscapes will evoke in you.

One of my favorite aspects of Journey is that it can be completed, from start to finish, in a mere two hours. This means that going back and revisiting this incredible experience is relatively easy, even for those of us who are pressed for time between jobs and real world responsibilities. Journey can be played any evening after work, and it's fantastic to revisit its immersive, therapeutic, and breathtaking world. Making this game short was not a mistake, but a stroke of genius. There is no bloat, and every minute spent in the experience is finely tuned to provide maximum enjoyment, emotional stimulation, and thought provocation.

I downloaded each of these games as they were made available on PSN. Therefore, I do not own the physical copy, so I cannot comment on the packaging or the bonus materials. My review is strictly for the content of the games themselves, and I give this collection my highest possible recommendation.

I've played through Journey several times, for a few reasons. The first time I played the game, the typical "gamer" in me came out. The goal, to get from beginning to end, while trying to take in some sights along the way. After I completed the game, I got it. It hit me what the point was of the game, and I restarted my Journey again the next night. I spent more time looking around, and found little hidden symbols along the way. Then suddenly someone showed up in the game with me. You can't talk, or type in the game. They are just there. You can chose to run around together or not. These other people just drift in and out in the game, all on their own journey. After I completed the game a second time, I had spent longer enjoying the amazing music and the astonishing visuals through the game. I put it away and didn't play for a while.

Then some time later, I learned there was such thing as players called "white cloaks". I wanted to see one, so I went again into the game and meandered around online. I met one who was on their journey, and decided to play through the game with them. We had so much fun working together. We had no way to communicate, we just had to use our intuition. We completed the game together, and it was almost a shocking moment for me. This game and it's meaning are so much deeper than one can understand on the first play through. The older you are, the more the meaning of this game will touch you.

After working for a while, I finally found all the hidden symbols in the game, and became a white cloak as well. My red garment turns white when I play, and my scarf regenerates itself, letting me fly for longer periods of time. While the game itself is short, it's got enough content for several play throughs. There is an incredibly deep meaning to the Journey, it's what the journey stands for. It's who you meet along the way, and your choices of whether to go alone, or take the journey with someone else. You can't "die" in the game as others have mentioned, but that's because it would defeat the meaning of the game. I agree with what others have said. Play this game alone (not offline, just alone at your home without distractions of other people around), on the best TV you have, with the best sound and in a dark room or in the evening. You will get the best visuals from the game, and have a better environment for contemplating the full meaning of the game. There is much depth to be found in it's simplicity.

I was cautiously optimistic as I prepared to play Journey for the first time. There were so many glowing reviews by game journalists that I could not discount its quality, however I wasn't completely convinced of its greatness and so approached it with hope and a slight amount of pessimism.

There have been many defining moments with video games that I've experienced in my life. The joy and wonder of discovering likes of Pac Man and Centipede in the arcade as a five-year-old. As I grew up and video games changed, my horizons opened up with the possibility for adventure in The Legend of Zelda on the NES. Super Mario Brothers, Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Doom and Half Life. Each of these represented major evolutional steps in video games. Exploration, adventure, 3D worlds, immersion, storytelling. I look back fondly on all of those experiences but in doing so realized that as the years have gone by these types of moments came with less frequency and impact. I love games such as Mario Galaxy, Red Dead Redemption and Skyrim. I can appreciate the mind-blowing quality and depth of these games but they don't stack up to the experiences of my youth with, arguably, vastly inferior games.

It only took a short time with Journey to come to the realization that I was experiencing something that I had been missing for many years. Chills ran down my spine. My pulse quickened. I was enthralled. It was not immediate but grew like a wave, building slowly and consistently until the wave broke in a crescendo that was moving and awe-inspiring that left me speechless and teary-eyed. I had not been affected like this in years and perhaps ever.

Journey is an experience that is a privilege to partake in. It evokes a range of emotions from joy and wonder to fear and heartbreak. The visuals are a sight to behold. It is simple, but not simplistic. It will make you ponder life, friendship, love, loss and triumph. Journey deserves to be experienced.

I just played through Journey and that was the most amazing gaming experience I've ever had. When I started, it was pretty cool but nothing mind blowing but you just keep going and somehow it turns into this really awesome experience. By the end, I had tears streaming down my face and I'm choking up and I'm 40 yrs old and my main game of choice is Gears of War. Absolutely amazing.

Being a person who is detrimentally opposed to purchasing any and all digital content it killed me to not play these games so I overjoyed at finally being able to buy a physical copy of these games and I did so without hesitation. I can only comment on the 3 main games as of now since I haven't checked out the bonus content or the mini games yet and waiting till I have finished and satisfied with the 3 main releases in this collection.

Flower: An absolute joy to play. It has been decades since I played a game and found myself smiling and actually feeling happy playing it. It's such a simple game with no spoken dialogue, no words, no context given or anything. You use one button essentially, have the visuals and music throughout the game and nothing more. I found something akin back to a Disney movie of sorts about good and evil that is told so subtly that its mind boggling as to how they told a story that is barely there using so little and having such an effect on me. I played the game twice and had just as much fun the second time. Its a very soothing game, very peaceful and yet instills a sense of dread at certain points.

Journey: Like so many others, it made me cry at the end. I can't explain why or how but I just felt a surge of happiness that it made me tear up right at the last section of the game. Again it told this story using very little at all beyond just images and interpretation. Although this game seemed to have more story to it. Sadly I can't go into details without spoiling anything, but once you play it you will see what I mean. Wonder, happiness, sadness, danger, loneliness and excitement were feelings I had when playing this game. I played it twice but I'm holding off as I don't want to overdue, this will be a game I come back to again soon but I don't want to wear out its welcome.

Flow: Not a terrible game but just not something I enjoyed. It was fun, interesting and different. But it just felt unfinished and the controls left something to be desired. I didn't hate it by any means but it just didn't resound with me the way the other 2 games did. This was also their first game so growing pains are to be expected and you can definitely see they made a huge leap in their skills when making flower and further polishing themselves with journey.

All in all I can't recommend this collection enough. For 30 bucks purchasing it new shouldn't be a problem because I got more out of these for 30 bucks than I have spending 500 bucks on big name games from the past 2 or 3 years. I reminded me of why I love games like I did when I was a kid instead of just spending 60 bucks on brand x AAA title of the month and going through the motions only to finish it and forgetting most of what I just played. Not to mention your measly 30 bucks will support this amazing developer and keep them making more great titles.
