Just like its most recent predecessors, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: World at War, the campaign portion of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a really fun game with extremely intense battle sequences. The downfall is that it's very very short. So let me start by saying that if you're not set up to, or you just don't intend to, play the online co-op or multiplayer modes, you really want to think twice before paying full price for this game. Single players either need to rent this or wait for an inexpensive used copy to go on sale.

So you get three game options: Special Ops (online isn't necessary, but at least two players are required for some of the missions), Multiplayer (designed to be played online; this is no fun split-screen with a max of 4 players), and the single player Campaign that took me less than 6 hours to finish.

In single player Campaign mode, you're a first person shooter (soldier) on the frontlines, and this time the frontlines aren't limited to overseas territories. Primarily you're playing separate, interlacing missions all over the world as two different characters. The story takes place several years after CoD 4 ended. And just as in CoD 4 you're with a team of characters that are truly your band of Artificial Intelligence brothers. On easier settings the AI soldiers can do practically all of the work for you on some missions; the help you might get from your team is based on the difficulty setting you've chosen. So unless you want to just glide through the game, definitely don't pick the Recruit difficulty (the other difficulty options are Regular, Hardened and Vet).

I could take away a star from the overall score of this game for how short the single player mode is, but I won't....All of a sudden it's not so short when you go back and try to play on the Vet setting and spend the time looking for all of the Intel items.

You arrive in single player boot camp just like in all of the previous CoDs, and you get a brief tutorial on how to maneuver around, shoot your weapons & throw grenades. After boot camp you get to choose the difficulty setting, then you're immediately strewn into various battles. (Once you've completed the game on any setting you can go back to various chapters to clean up any items or trophies missed, and at the start of each chapter you can choose to attempt on the higher difficulties.)

You fight your way through some intense chapters....really intense. In fact, when you first start off, there's even a warning that you'll be in for some VERY disturbing sequences, and you have the option to tell the game to skip "offensive material". Ummm...no thanks. I think that this is the first game that I've played that offers the option to censor itself if you choose the option. The story is a bit choppy at times, but the battles are wild. The graphics are out of this world, and some of the "familiar territory" scenes will just blow you away with how much it really looks like your own back yard.

The weapons are plentiful and sophisticated. You're shooting whichever modern-day weapon you happen to have picked up along your objective route. Objectives that guide you along are updated regularly as you complete each task throughout each chapter. And some of those tasks are brutal. There are frequent checkpoints (I think I remember even reaching new checkpoints without firing a single shot) in the campaign, so no need to worry about respawning back before what seemed to take an eternity to complete. On the other hand....

....There is the Special Ops portion of the game. I think that there are 23 different missions for you here, and you can play each one by trying to earn 1, 2 or 3 stars in each mission. Some of these are darn hard, especially the final 3-star unlocks. You will be frustrated by playing some of these a few times before you beat the levels to earn your stars. And there are no checkpoints in these missions, so if you fail in the final moments of a mission, you start over from the beginning of that mission.

Special Ops is most fun with a partner. It's best online so that you get to play full screen, but if you have a guest over you can play split screen offline. For all you World at War players looking for Zombies, you're out of luck here. You get Special Ops instead. There was a silly rumor that MW2 would have an "Alien Invaders" mode that would rival the Zombie mode of WaW, but that indeed was just a silly rumor.

Online Multiplayer is where you'll get addicted. No AI brothers here...just your fellow gamers. You'd better have your FPS skills honed if you think that you'll score better than some of the MW2 online players. A very high percentage of the online players have been honing their skills online for years now with CoD4 and World at War.

The concept with Multiplayer is certainly not new. The more you play, the higher you rank allowing you to unlock more (fine tuned) weapons. The game sets you up in matches with people at your level and rank, but that ain't gonna help you if you're new (you will be fondly referred to as a noob by your swell fellow online players) and you're up against the CoD4 or WaW vets.

What makes MW2 Multiplayer more than just a new map pack for CoD4 is that the Multiplayer weapons and perk system are vastly improved. And so is connectivity (so it seems in the initial week of play after a few day one and two glitches). You get 10 times the amount of points for the kills and captures that you're used to getting only 5 or 10 points for in CoD4 and WaW. You also now get points for not just killing and capturing, but for taking out enemy air support, coming back from deathstreaks, killing your nemesis, breaking an enemy's streak and other stuff. Yeah, Multiplayer is good fun, habitual and bad for a marriage.

So all in all Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is major fun. The only drawbacks to this awesome game are that the campaign is really short and the multiplayer action is a bit familiar. But the MW2 Multiplayer improvements over its predecessors far out weigh the familiarity.

Modern Warfare 2 is a must for FPS fans. Add it to your cart, soldier!

My Experience:

Being I am an OG, from the 70's my reaction times are slowing down and I know it. I actually enjoy the campaign modes in these games. Which is why I am giving it a 2 star. I am sure people will blast me because the MULTIPLAYER IS WHERE ITS AT MAN!!! OMGWTROXXORZ.!11. I agree that the multiplayer can be fun, but this is a review of the game as it stands.

Campaign Mode: ***** 5 star

First off the campaign mode. The graphics and scenes are so absolutely beautiful I would give this a 5 star hands down, it is what brought this title up from a 1 star. From the basic places like the airport in the mountains. The snow, the weather, it all seems to be so very real and inviting. When you have to take back the White House it is breathtaking from the color of the sky to the helicopters crashing all around you. Wonderful, epic and left me wanting more. Which, leads us to the reason I want to give this a 1 star.

Campaign Story: 0000* 1 star

The campaign mode is ridiculously short. I wanted to take my time taking it all in and several missions push you the whole time to GO GO GO!!! which is expected due to the insane pace of the enemies. It really sucks you in and makes you feel part of it, however, it falls horribly short due to the anemic plot and, well...shortness... The major issue with the campaign is the incredibly weak story. They never explain why anything has happened, the dialogue between the characters is full of hyperbole and patriotic fluff. I realize the world thinks Americans are a bunch of yahoo cowboys, but come on with the brainless pointless dialogue.

Sub campaign:

The Spec Ops are so-so fun, but its just a rehash of the campaign you just finished.

Now lets discuss the 10,000 pound gorilla in the room.

Multiplayer 0000* 1 star

I understand its my lack of skillzorz that makes the multiplayer frustrating. That does not mean that I have to give a game I do not enjoy anything more than I have. The new titles and other 1337 embellishments they have thrown into the multiplayer has done nothing but polish what I perceive as a pile of excrement. Playing with a friend can make multiplayer a bit more fun. Going into a game where only 2 out of 18 have a mic, where most are young kids, and some have voice modifiers so we dont know they are kids,(yea right Darth), is nothing short of pure hell. Its not fun, nor is it the reason I got this game.

After playing such epics as Uncharted: Drake's Fortune & Uncharted 2: Among Thieves this game pales in comparison for the depth of characters, re-playability, and overall scope. I am not a glutton for punishment so games like Demon's Souls have little appeal to me. I have a family, job and other things taking up my time, (like Amazon reviews), so a 2-3 hour frag fest where I am repeatedly killed over and over holds no appeal to me either.

For the -Not Helpfulvoters:

I am sure this review will garner a fair share of negative votes. Just remember you too are entitled to your opinion and you too can write a review on any product and YOUR experience with that product. My experience with this product, while amazing, was brief and ultimately very frustrating. If this was a review of a new electric toothbrush and that toothbrush shocked you every time you used it, you too could come here and write about it was a pain to use. Reviews are not meant as an -I am a fan or I hate it-, instead it is meant as a way to let customers hear a varied and alternative view of a product. I think overall Activision did a pretty good job with this game. The soundtrack was spot on and sounded great. But making the game as a single player and a multiplayer means its not excellent at either one. Sure your Honda Civic can go off-road but eh, do you think it will hold up well?

Pros:

>> Beautiful animations

>> Epic scenes

>> Motion capture is fantastic

>> Fantastic soundtrack

The product came in a reasonable amount of time and was exactly as pictured. Total improvement to the feel of the stock dual shock. I saw complaints about customers who ordered similar items from another vendor getting thin, low quality silicone covers but the covers I received from this one are thick and pleasant to touch. The only complaint I have is that the per item shipping came to more than the cost of the actual product. Other than that, highly satisfied.

I ordered this modded controller for my son's birthday. Unfortunately I wasn't able to order it from amazon uk, which was a pain and an expense as the shipping and customs charges to get it from the USA were almost as much as the controller itself! However, this was the desired present so I placed my order. I was amazed at how quickly it was delivered, in fact it came as quickly as ordering from the UK website and arrived in plenty of time for my son's birthday, so thank you Geniusmods! As far as the controller is concerned, I wouldn't have a clue how to work it or what it does but according to my son and his friends, "it's well sick" (which apparently means its really good) and allows you to do all sorts of things that an ordinary controller can't do. The controller itself cost about £89.00 shipping from USA was about £33.00 and customs duty was another £35.00.

Lets be clear, you won't be using this to play the drums in your night band. This is budget drum throne, build solidly enough to support adults, but not something that is high in comfort or performance.

It's a vinyl covered seat, with standard foam padding. You will find the same construction type in something like a bar stool you would buy from target.

My biggest complaint is slight wobble or give once assembled. This is a design issue as the throne allows you to swivel, but it's a basic bolt mechanism.

A real drum throne with comfort and smooth swivel will cost hundreds of dollars. But for only 3-4 songs at a time this Rock Throne gets the job done.

Just be sure to budget your expectations along with your wallet.

I bought this thinking that it would be a good replacement for the hard, dining-room chair I've been using to play the drums for Rock Band 2. When I took it out of the box, put it together, (which, by the way, wasn't at all difficult) and sat down in it, I was slightly disappointed. It felt sturdy, (which is important because I weigh about 220) but the seat wobbled a bit. After playing a set or two on Rock Band, (about 20 minutes of play) I was really disappointed; my butt was already hurting. It became obvious that the seat just wasn't big enough to support me comfortably, and I would never be able to play for extended periods of time. I was better off using the dining-room chair.

This feels very sterdy and cushion is sufficiant. I'm 210 and don't feel like it has a problem handling my weight. This should compliment any one's Rock Band or Guitar Hero World Tour sessions.

This is a big joke. The stool will not stay together if you move it at all. I tighten the wingnut every time we play. It's not a tight fit (wobbles a lot) and the stool doesn't set high enough for me to play.

Bad news.

Ok so you get 2 things here, 2 back triggers (very back buttons) that are extended and curved so your fingers dont slip off easily, i like these except they are a little long and poke you finger if you put your fingers under the triggers like i do, not a big deal though. The stick accessorie to me is pointless! Its a cheap piece of plastic thats kind of hard to put on. All it will do is get in my way so i wont be using these. the 3 dollars i spent for these are worth it just for the back triggers.

The R2 on my controller uses one of these triggers for gas and I can play a racing game all day with no problem. My finger just sits on it like a very comfortable chair. It is flat and long. I use a larger trigger on the L2 that is more short and raised. But this is perfect for form, fit and function. Playing shooters I used to say I prefer the larger triggers like the one I have on my L2 but staying with this on my R2 hasn't changed the speed increase of switching weapons or throwing grenades. Best purchase I have made for my controller and maybe even my console. I no longer look for other controllers cause mine is now perfect.

I was extremely pleased with product. Worked great while it lasted. Joy stick lasted maybe 2 months then one day while playing just snapped I was very upset as this was the best thing I ever purchased for my controller as I have larger hands and always slip my thumb off joystick. The product allowed me not to slip. But it was short lived.

Ive ordered several trigger attachments for my ps3 controller and these are without doubt the best feeling, most responsive, and all around well put together attachments Ive seen to date

Yes I completely discarded the Stick Attachment(who is really ordering these for that anyway) but the triggers are wonderful, Ive tried many other trigger attachments and these are just right, curved just so, good feel, and not in anyway crooked(some dont fit just right on the ps3 trigger, the thing is curved you know)

I absolutely love these, and if you are looking to get trigger attachments to play Killzone, or Resistance, these are deffinately a must

5/5

I picked this controller up today and am pleased. Moves are easier to pull off, it's lightweight and the response time seems to be better than the standard PS3 controller. The only reasons I don't give 5 stars are because:

1.) It's only for fighting games. Any game that uses an analog stick won't be compatible with this pad. For $40 I'd like it to function for all my games and not have to switch it out when I play Madden or Batman.

2.) The select and start buttons aren't elevated above the rest of the controller so it's harder to find them without looking at the pad. This is probably something I'll get used to, but I don't like it right now.

Edit 1. So there's this little switch at the bottom of the controller that allows the directional pad to function as either the regular Dpad OR the right or left analog stick. This should allow the controller to be used for at least a few more games but still not for games that utilize both analog sticks or the Dpad and sticks simultaneously.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is the first entry into Playstation's flagship exclusive franchise. The game is absolutely stunning to this day, and at the time of its release, it was an absolute marvel.

Uncharted is a third person action adventure game, that include elements of hand to hand combat, puzzles, quick time events, shooting, and navigation. Uncharted is without a doubt one of the best told franchises out there, with the combination of cut scenes, clever dialogue, and such vivid characters. It feels like an interactive movie more than anything.

The graphics were, and still are some of the best around. The environments feel real, and the actions and events are so immersive, you can't help but ride along with the game at every turn. The environments are primarily forests, and old ruins within the forests, but it doesn't matter; they're all beautiful anyways.

The game stars Nathan Drake, whom you control, Victor Sullivan, Drake's mentor, and Elena Fisher, who is just along for the ride. The characters have such well done dialogue and character development, it's hard not to love the ones you're supposed to and despise the one's you should.

My only real gripe in the whole franchise, is it's notoriously bad camera angles for certain events. But, that's Uncharted for you...

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is the best way for the best Playstation franchise to begin, and I could not see it being any better. This game, as well as the franchise as a whole, is a must buy for any Playstation owner.

I was very excited about the Rock Band 3 Wireless Fender Mustang Pro-Guitar when it was first announced.

I received mine yesterday (11/29) and was eager to try it out of the box. Straight out of the box, I noted that the overall body was still plastic but its heft and build are quite solid. The guitar comes in 3 pieces and snap together quite easily. I plugged it in along with the USB dongle into the PS3...and the game crashed. Tried it again, same result. So, I thought that maybe I had too many USB dongles in at once so I tried just plugging in the Mustang dongle by itself. At that point, the game launched fine. So here are a couple of warnings up front for you:

1. This guitar is not like you other guitar controllers. It actually functions as an alternate PS3 controller, so be sure that you are actually synced up with the dongle.

2. This guitar is a little bit finicky straight off the bat. I would suggest that you sync this guitar up prior to syncing up with other instruments. I haven't found the right combination yet as to what WON'T make it crash, but plugging in 1 at a time appears to work so far.

So, with the unpleasantness out of the way, how does it play? Wonderfully!! All 6 strings are nylon coated steel (which disconcertingly sound like plastic, but they hold up) and all 102 buttons along the 17 frets respond accurately and with no visible delay. If you're a real guitar player, you'll marvel at the realistic response; however, you may complain (and justifiably) that the fret buttons are all the same width and you won't be able to tell which "string" is which. If you're hung up on this, wait until the Squier (which doubles as a real, fully-stringed guitar AND a controller) comes out in the Spring for a rumored value of $280 +/-. The only other complaint that purists may have is that the "notes" on the guitar highway are a combination of numbers placed over strings. No, they aren't notes they just tell you which fret/string you have to hit. If you're used to reading sheet music, you may not be familiar about the 16th fret on the 2nd string...you may know it only as a note and a place to put your finger without consciously thinking how many frets down it is. If you're looking for actual notes, you're out of luck there.

The video game tutorials on RB3 were also fairly helpful in getting a beginner guitar player up to speed, but don't expect these lessons alone to make you a bona fide guitar player on their own steam. Still, they WILL teach you about the numbering and string schematics and also instruct you which fingers are appropriate for which chords. It's not a bad primer.

Overall, it's a fun guitar and the gameplay is phenomenal. Why they can support over 102 different possible fret/string combinations and yet be unable to support drums/keyboard/guitar/bass/vocalists without entering you into All Instrument Mode (as I explain in my review of Rock Band 3) is quite beyond me. My only other complaint is that for a guitar which costs so much, it would have been nice if they had opted for something other than a plastic body; I do feel entitled to something better for that kind of cash. Beyond that, it does work as advertised.

When I got my MadCatz Fender Mustang Guitar Controller, I felt kind of sorry for it because for some reason someone felt it was necessary to put this message on the front of its packaging: "Not A Real Guitar". No, I guess not. A "real guitar" is like my Fender Strat which sat in the closet unplayed for 20 years due to a disheartening lack of real guitar playing talent. To me, that's a real guitar.

I've had my MFMGC for only a week now and I'm sure I've played it more than I played my Strat in 20 years. The disheartening lack of real guitar playing talent is not a problem on an instrument that is not a real guitar! With some computer help, playing this thing is a ton of actual fun and I actually feel like I'm gaining some real guitar playing talent as a bonus.

I'm not a great judge of whether a guitar-like object is big or small, so I'll provide some useful dimensions for you to decide for yourself.

Neck length (nut to 17th fret): 405mm

Width head (E to E centers at nut): 34mm

Width tail (E to E centers at 17th fret): 45mm

Width strings (E to E centers on strings): 47mm

Some things about playing this are a lot easier than a "real guitar" and some things are harder. Obviously I don't have wires slicing into my finger tips. However, I think that if you play with this thing for hours a day (which is easy to do), you'll go far in preparing your fingertips for real guitar strings. The button action is definitely not real strings, but it's not a terrible substitute if you're not fussy. The button action seems pretty capable of doing what needs to be done. I have had a button get stuck pressed in, but it's very rare and the RockBand feedback points it out right away. Tapping that button cures the problem.

I'm no expert but playing RockBand3 with this seems to foster good habits. The weird one is that you never look at the thing. Never. Harmonix made a fuss about how cool their fret fingering feedback is and that's true, however, they intentionally kept quiet about string feedback because, of course, there is none. I find myself resting the pick on a string just so I can know where it or its neighbor is when I need it. On a "real guitar" that would mute that string.

Some RockBand specific features are good, some not so good. For example, this device can automatically calibrate your audio and video latency for optimal game play. The menu in RockBand to use this feature was kind of confusing, but eventually it seemed to work. I do not like the overdrive feature being tied to the "Select" button. It would have been better had they put it on the down pad or maybe the X. Overdrive still works fine if you tip the neck up to some steep angle, but with complex playing that can be tricky if you're sitting down.

I've played this probably over 50 hours now and I'm still on the original 3 AA batteries. Could be worse for a wireless device. I should note that the battery compartment doesn't have a stupid retaining screw so you don't have to find a small screwdriver just to change the batteries like you did on other RockBand guitar controllers.

Now we come to the coolest part about this unreal guitar. I had thought that if I were going to design such a thing I wouldn't reinvent the wheel but instead I'd use a standard music instrument digital interface. And indeed, they did and they even put a standard MIDI output port on this. This feature makes the price suddenly pretty interesting just for a MIDI controller. After some fussing, I was finally able to hook the Mustang up to a MIDI to USB converter and get Ubuntu on my laptop to see the MIDI events. Then I used the awesome and free music editor Rosegarden to redirect the MIDI events back out to Fluidsynth, a free software synthesizer. This allowed me to play the guitar controller and have the sound come out my laptop. There's a bit of latency with such a setup, but it proves the controller is serious about standard MIDI output. It's not going to be the best guitar-like MIDI controller in the world, but for educational purposes and simple guitar track recording, I think it's great. One odd thing is that if you hit an open string, it tends not to ever decay depending on the patch. However, when you hit a fretted note, the note decays after you let up on the fret button. The way to cancel an open string note is to press a button on that string. It's workable. There's even a mode (press "Start") to send note events by pressing the fret buttons and ignoring strumming (think fretboard tapping). I also confirmed that the strings were velocity sensitive I don't think it's extremely fine, but there are at least two levels of intensity for hitting a string. I should also mention the mysterious headphone jack which disables the MIDI output. I don't know what it's for, but I didn't hear anything with headphones.

So there you have it. This is not a "real guitar". But it is a real musical instrument (technically a part of one) and a pretty fancy one at that. I'm having a great time with it and for me it's a better way to improve "real guitar" playing skills than playing a real guitar.

Unable to find a Logitech G27 racing wheel last night I ended up buying the pro guitar for RB3. So far I have found it just as hard as learning to play a real guitar except my fingers don't hurt from holding down strings. I think this guitar is a good aid in helping one learn to play because it keeps your interest longer than say a real guitar and book or lesson. However if you are expecting to pick this up and be a pro playing medium or even hard in a months time than you might not have much fun. It will take time patience and dedication. I'm sure it will be months before I get past easy, even if I find the time to practice\play everyday. On a real guitar I know about 5 chords barely. On the normal guitar controllers I was able to complete all songs in Guitar Hero 1-3 on hard with all stars (except for one song on GH 3) but anyway... Right now I'm having trouble playing songs with the PRO Guitar for RB3 that use two strings and 3 buttons. I certainly don't feel like a rockstar when I'm struggling with only 2 strings and 3 fret buttons. I find RB3 overly challenging using this guitar(games are fun right?), but at the same time I feel like I'm going to be able to apply what I am trying to do with the RB3 pro guitar to my real acoustic guitar. And after all it would be pretty awesome if I'm ever able to play Free Bird on Pro Medium. I mean much much cooler and rockstar-esque than using that 5 button regular guitar controller.

Please try this product before you buy, if you are a real guitar player, it at first, doesn't quite feel like a real guitar. Although, after about an hour of an adjustment period (and a pick is necessary), it starts feeling better and works quite well. I have also tried out the more expensive Squire Pro Guitar model, which has a much better feel, but is slightly less accurate than this one. If you don't already own an electric, the Squire one would be ideal, and if you have one, the Mustang Pro should be fine. The Pros on this guitar are the realistic strumming mechanism, close to the size and scale of a Mustang Guitar, wireless functionality and the amazing accuracy of hitting complex chords and strums. The only downside is getting used to the buttons vs real strings, but after the adjustment period, its not so frustrating.

I just got my guitar controller today,

I have been a semi pro guitar player for 35 years (meaning I have been paid to play, but never made a living at it) I have turned my nose up at the guitar hero and rock band franchises because of the unrealistic guitars but I have been having a great time with the pro drumset and had the mustang guitar on pre order for more than a month before it arrived.

Well it arrived in the mail today and I rushed to put it together and start playing.

I am pleasantly surprised that there doesn't seem to be any notable latency at all. The fret buttons don't feel very much like guitar strings, but they do not take long to get used to at all. This could be a big plus for those who do not play guitar regularly and are not prepared to deal with the pain of getting your fingers accustomed to guitar strings.

I don't like that RB3 docks points for hitting extra notes, but I can't imagine how they would score otherwise. I am not used to reading music or playing songs "note for note" I usually do a great deal of improvisation when playing actual guitar, so this game is teaching me discipline I have never had before. Over all its a great accessory and I am enjoying it quite a bit. My biggest disappointment is the lack of pro guitar tracks in the DLC.

I've already beaten the game 6 times and I have to say, this game is fun; If you're a fan of mecha animes.

This game was very pretty, but very empty in terms of style and polish. Here's my review of it.

Pros:

+ This game is only fun if you're a mecha fan and know about the characters featured in this game.

+ You don't have to be fluent in Japanese to enjoy the gameplay and cutscenes.

+ Most of the mechs control very differently from each other. As you level up, you gain more attacks.

+ You can import songs! The basic themes for the characters and stages are basic and the voice acting is top-notch.

+ Starting the game is always different depending on which series you start with and they do have different ending scenes.

+ Giant boss battles!

+ Shift Chase mode is a welcomed addition to the game. It makes some of the scenes more engaging than just watching it. Some quick time events do pop up in this game too.

+ The tension meter is much like a fighting game special bar. It limits the amount of special attacks mechs can do (So no more constant missile spamming for Macross mechs).

Cons:

The controls are very awkward and will be the most challenging hurdle for gamers to overcome. Make sure you change the controls as soon as possible because the standard set-up is terrible.

This game has several glitches that can impede on game play. On my second run, the game froze on the mission with the unskipable cut scenes. There are Graphical glitches too, like disappearing flowers on the Aquarion stage cutscenes.

This game is very hard to start, but very easy to finish. Starting the game with under power mechs and pilots does make the game harder than is should be. I found myself completing mission at like 10% HP too many times when I was starting out (I chose the Mcross F route).

No style at all. What I mean is that in previous ACE games, you can see that they put a lot of effort into make each mechs launch sequence as well as render the pilots in cell-shaded full 3d for cutscenes. There are no launch scenes like that in ACE:R.

No mech shops or parts to acquire to upgrade mech abilities.

You will have to cycle through attack panels.

Mission difficulty is all over the place with this game. The later missions are easier than the starting ones.

Strange mech changes: This mainly applies to the Macross VFs. In prior games, you're able to hover in battroid mode. In this game, you fall like a rock. Other mechs can hover though, like King Gainer and the Gundams.

No multiplayer mode. I'm leaning towards a co-op option than a death match mode. It was something I really liked in ACE3 and I was hoping that this game would expand on that, like have 3 player co-op for certain campaign missions.

No DLC expansion such as more missions or other mechs from prior games.

Over all:

This was definitely not the next gen ACE game I've been waiting to play. This was more of a rushed attempt than a rebirth. Starting out the game gave me bad impression, that's why I held off on review it right after my first play through. Now that I've had more experience with it, I can give it a fair review. Anyway, I haven't mentioned the story because I can't read Japanese (I have read several summaries about the story). This game just lacks the style and polish that the past ACE games had. The controls are what really kills this game. My ratings for this game are that high (3 stars) because I'm a mecha fan. Any other gamer would probably hate this game.

If you're an ACE fan, be very careful about getting this game. You might be disappointed with what you buy. I'm not totally burned, since I got this game for $20, but I wouldn't get this game for any more than $20. There are simply too many bugs and control issues that hinders this game's fun factor. Only get this game if you're a hardcore mecha fan!

Well, it all started like this, I am one of those Gundam fans that are not satisfied by the whole Dinasty Warriors Gundam game saga, so I started taking a look at this game, it took me almost two years to actually buy it due to the little issue known as not knowing japanese (except the one you learn by watching subtitled anime) which made me indecisive about it, but I still decided to get it, after much thought.

Thing is, I had read a few things about this game, and they all claim, and I now agree with them, that the more of the featured series you know, the funnier it gets, so my first reccomendation would be having watched about half of the series included.

Well, now that that's said, let's get this review properly started, I'll divide it in 5 parts, each focusing on a part of the game, hopefully i'll cover everything, this is my firs review, after all:

1Story:

The story was, from my point of view at least, very well done and very fun to follow, taking the characters from their respective series through black holes to the world of Eria, their encounter with Autumm-4 (native of the planet) and the Seasons (Bad Guys from the planet) and their leader Winter-1. The interactions between all of the different characters have a nice feeling to it, a pity about those i do not get due to there being no voice over (though I am quite sure there is one about a pull up (or something like that) competition between Suzaku Kururugi and Sosuke Sagara, and Alto Saotome gets caught up in the middle of it), because the actual cutscenes are pretty easy to undestand.

Many stages reenact things that happened during the series included in the game, usually with almost no change in dialogue (those who have watched Code Geass R2 will notice that Zero's conversation with the High Eunuchs and Luciano Bradley's speech about life are inaltered from how they were in the anime, other examples are the Crossbone Gundam fight with the Deathgales and Macross Frontier's fight with the Vajra Queen, I could go on but you get the picture), so basically it's a crossover story that will please many fans (on another note for Code Geass fans, Zero tends to laugh, a lot, while you play him).

-----------------------

2-Graphics:

The graphics are pretty good, I must admit most of the videos posted around about the game make it look slightly inferior in these section, but the scenery is really well done, and I assure you your favorite robot has been well designed, the only problem are 2-D cutscenes, the animation doesn't really fit. Apart from that, the only other thing is that there are a few failures with the graphics section, as of now I have found two of them, there may be more, one occurs in mission 18, if you use Lancelot Albion (haven't checked if Guren Seiten has the same problem) as your mech, during a scene, the Energy Wings become totally invisible, except the part they come out from, funny thing is, Lancelot Albion is flying in that scene. The other failure I found was in mission 19, in which the Aquarion fans (and everyone else, but they'll be the most affected) will see how the flowers on the Tree of Life sprout and vanish without reason. Still, despite these errors, it's really well designed.

------------------------

3-Controls & Specifics:

Here is the tricky part, since controls are a bit difficult get used to and the gameplay doesn't make them easier since your camera is fixed on an enemy all the time (unless there are no more, but if that's the case, either the mission is about to end or more will appear in 10 seconds). You'll have to be careful about not ending up out of the map by accident either, if you stay there too much, you'll start losing health at an incredible rate. The Tension System that allows for Special Attacks can be a bit difficult, but once you get how to properly use the robot you are using you'll charge it in no time.

------------------------

4-Gameplay:

This one is fairly simple, you arrive with your selected mech and two partners to the map of the mission and accomplish the objectives, wich may vary from protecting an spaceship, destroying target enemy unit/s, stay alive until the countdown reaches zero, reach target point, etc. the only problem is size, exactly that, yeah. The thing is, the robots available are not all identical in size, for example, Code Geass mechs (Knightmare Frames) are about 5m tall while Gundams are around 20m tall, and the Aquarion is three times as tall as a Gundam, so, while using a Gundam to pursue a Knightmare Frame, you'll end up looking for a pixel in your screen. Although I'll admit it is fun to crush them under your feet with Crossbone X1 and Hyaku Shiki's kicks. Also there's the fact that with each playthrough you unlock a new robot to use, which basically gives you an excuse to replay apart from the whole "I just played Code Geass story, now I wanna see what happened to the Macross guys to end up here".

------------------------

5-Music:

Now, this is the one part of the game I have really enjoyed, You do realize that when you join up all these series, the amount of epic music you can add is limitless, problem is, there's generally no money to afford all of it. So, what did From Software do. Well, they made their own sound track, which is pretty good, and added instrumental versions of the most famous songs of each anime. I bet you're thinking "that's good and all but you said you really enjoyed this and I still don't see any special reason for it", okay here's that reason, they also added the option of customizing the sountrack for each mission, with the exception of a few obligatory songs which were necessary for the plot, remember this game includes Macross Frontier afterall, that is not impressive enough though. What is impressive is that you can use songs stored in your ps3 as part of that soundtrack, basically customizing it to your tastes so that it fits better with you, they save money and you still get the big prize.

Well, that's about it for my review, I'm hesitant to give this game a mark since it really depends on who plays it and what you like, but if I was forced to do so I would give it a 9/10 for all the good moments it's given me, and will give considering I still have more than 8 playthroughs left.

I hope you enjoyed the review.

Hawkeyeriku.
