I was really excited for this charger. Finally something different! It looks nice, leaves the chargers on display when not in use which is nice. This product is solid and something different. In my experience most of the PS3 chargers don't know when to quit. They say you can leave on the charger and it won't harm your controller but it's not true. Look at the controller, it attempts to keep charging and continues to blink. This charger is intelligent enough to stop. If you're concerned this charger also gives the option to just store the charger on the base in display mode. Honestly, this charger is the best one going.

My previous charger was the energizer PS3 stand which turned out to be rubbish. Half the time I would put dead controllers on it, it would immediately turn green and stop charging causing me to play the on-again/off-again game. This never happens with this controller.

It's no surprise this is THE ONLY charger that is officially a "licensed PS3 charger" by Sony.

My only complaint is that I wish Power-A made this exact design with 4 PS Move controllers as a charging option (not the usual one move, one navigation. Most of us have two Move controllers which makes those designs poorly thought-out.)

Edit: My original review was only 3 stars because I thought the spring may have been defective. It was not defective. The UPS guy left it outside where it sat for 8+ hours in near 0 degree temperature and it took a few minutes to "thaw" and work quickly. While frozen it appeared like the spring was extremely slow. It's not, it was just frozen.

Once you get the hang of how to slide the receiver down, this is easy to load. Much more durable than all the others out there. The blue lights are not to bright for our media room.

This charger is a dual charger but can also be used to charge just one controller.

It charges pretty quickly. Also, if you have multiple controllers you can charge 2 with this charger and plug the others into the

PS3.

It is easy to put the controllers in and get them out.

There is a blue light that lights up on the side that the controller is charging in.

We have an upgraded controller and the light on that controller also lights up when charging in it.

Its very easy to keep controllers charged with this and even though ours is hidden in a cabinetthe design of it is not

horrible to look at!

If your like me your controllers are never left in the same place, and I always forget to plug them in until I actually need one. After purchasing this charger stand I automatically put the controllers on this to charge when I am not using them. External power is a plus so they can charge whenever. There are two lights on this stand the blink when charged or stay solid when fully charged.

Good quality and easy to attach, just push controller down on bottom piece that slides down and drop in, the piece will push the controllers charging port up in contact with the charger. Very easy to use and keeps the controller in one spot!

great fit, great size, sturdy build, tidy cord..and yeah, cool blue lights :)The adapters are small and snug so you can play with them on the controllers, and the spring suspension to load the controllers are not harsh or "snappy" but just right.

Def Jam Icon is one of the shallowest games I've played in years and is highly repetitive and boring.

You get to create what your character looks like but you have to be male and you must be some shade of black/mixed. This character then goes through the trials and tribulations of becoming a big-shot music producer and you fight your way through all the confrontations in between.

Sounds like it might make a good game but it's VERY linear and pretty much every decision you make in the management half of the game has little or no effect on anything. How good would it be to download your own tunes onto the PS3 and mix them into new tracks for the game? Tough, you can't.

There are about 10 different environments to fight in but they all get rather tiresome after the millionth battle and there are never any really cool moments when you interact with the crumbling area. Def Jam Icon is all flash and no substance I'm afraid, I actually liked Def Jam Fight for NY a lot better.

This is the first video game i ve ever rated. I play and own many video games,. In terms of brawling def jam fight for ny was the best. i am only doing this rating bcos i have been and im still searching for the next gen version or any ps3 game that comes close to def jam fight for ny. Def jam icon is the totla opposite.I actually want to give it zero stars but thats impossible. The graphics are ok, not spectacular like heavenly sword or assassin's creed. just plain ok. ....The game play is downright horrible....long load time...lag times when u try to attack, the environmental hazards and dj controls are just corny and do not in anyways add to the game ( this is a true hiphop fan talking who listened to beatboxing...80's & 90's hiphop) this game does not cut it at all...i have tried so many times to love but unfortuantely ...it is just that poor...if EA games is smart the would produce a great next gen def fight for ny type of games and not this rubbish

The main problem that I have with this game is that it doesn't follow the wrestling format of the previous two Def Jam titles. Now, it appears to be a street fight format.

Also, there appears to be camera, frame rate, or physics engine issues (I don't know which because I'm not a game developer). All I know is that when I push the button to kick my opponent, I expect the kick to be attempted when I press the button, not five seconds later. Meeting a deadline is not a good reason to sacrifice quality.

If EA could not produce a decent version of the game in the time they allotted for development, then they should have just rolled back the release date, or if they couldn't improve upon the game's current state, then they should have just trashed the idea for a sequel altogether.

Don't waste your money on this game, not even to rent it. If you want to play a wrestling game, play one of the previous two Def Jam games or the latest WWE release.

I bought this item because I wasn't sure if I needed some special type of Ethernet cable in order to hook my PS3 to our modem. It's just like any other Ethernet cable available. It works perfectly, and I'm glad that I got it. However, I'm sure you could find a cheaper Ethernet cable that wasn't listed under Playstation 3.

Ok so you get 2 things here, 2 back triggers (very back buttons) that are extended and curved so your fingers dont slip off easily, i like these except they are a little long and poke you finger if you put your fingers under the triggers like i do, not a big deal though. The stick accessorie to me is pointless! Its a cheap piece of plastic thats kind of hard to put on. All it will do is get in my way so i wont be using these. the 3 dollars i spent for these are worth it just for the back triggers.

The R2 on my controller uses one of these triggers for gas and I can play a racing game all day with no problem. My finger just sits on it like a very comfortable chair. It is flat and long. I use a larger trigger on the L2 that is more short and raised. But this is perfect for form, fit and function. Playing shooters I used to say I prefer the larger triggers like the one I have on my L2 but staying with this on my R2 hasn't changed the speed increase of switching weapons or throwing grenades. Best purchase I have made for my controller and maybe even my console. I no longer look for other controllers cause mine is now perfect.

I was extremely pleased with product. Worked great while it lasted. Joy stick lasted maybe 2 months then one day while playing just snapped I was very upset as this was the best thing I ever purchased for my controller as I have larger hands and always slip my thumb off joystick. The product allowed me not to slip. But it was short lived.

Ive ordered several trigger attachments for my ps3 controller and these are without doubt the best feeling, most responsive, and all around well put together attachments Ive seen to date

Yes I completely discarded the Stick Attachment(who is really ordering these for that anyway) but the triggers are wonderful, Ive tried many other trigger attachments and these are just right, curved just so, good feel, and not in anyway crooked(some dont fit just right on the ps3 trigger, the thing is curved you know)

I absolutely love these, and if you are looking to get trigger attachments to play Killzone, or Resistance, these are deffinately a must

When I received this the silicon protector for the controller, I thought I wasted my money on a another cheap product. But I was surprised by how good it look after I put it on my controller. Putting the silicon skin on the controller was a struggle to me, I was afraid I might rip the silicon skin apart. Then I realize it could stretch pretty good before you can rip it. After that, you will feel like you got a brand new controller, it feel really comfortable, and you don't ever have to worry about dropping your controller again. The price is a little high for me, but I was satisfied with what I have purchased.

I really resent that I can't have a purple PS3 controller. What's up with that, Sony? This silicone sleeve is the closest I can get, and it works very well. It doesn't interfere at all with any buttons/sticks and gives a really good grip. My controller used to slip annoyingly often and it's not fun to interrupt killing zombies/skeletons/bad wizards/Legos to have to pick up your controller. I like it but wish it was a prettier purple. Less eggplant, more lavender. But so much better than ubiquitous boring industrial-blah black.

I got this game in Fall of 2012 through European import. It is truly a great rally game that reminds me of the Colin McRae series, before it became Dirt (literally). Though the graphics are not quite on pair with Dirt 3, the stages are longer and the game-play much more fun. Anyone can have fun with this game on the easier settings. If you are a rally fan who like casual video games, this is a 5 star and a must buy.

what can i say!! am a huge fan of this great anime and actually this is my first naruto game i play on the ps3. i've been playing ps2 games though.

anyway, i rarely write reviews on amazon but i couldn't resist writing this one because CyperConnect created an awesome game for an awesome anime!!!

you gonna laugh so bad when you reach the ending of the story mode i don't wanna spoil it but i personally laughed and danced.

this review gonna be short because i really want to go back playing this addictive game i'll just mention pros and cons...

pros:

1fluid and very responsive game play

2a huge number of characters!!

3some anime scenes and comic you never seen before not a lot of them but still will interest the Fans.

4an awesome story mode where you gonna see different aspects of the anime story.

5few modes that will keep you playing this game for along time such as tournament , survival ,and online battle mode.

cons:

1-they did not include what happens after naruto defeats pain like how he got this new yellow power from the nine tails daemon (Kyuubi)

2-No Adventure mode this time is such a disappointment, the developer decided not to include one this time.. WHY!!!!!!

to conclude this review i want to say if you are Hesitant whether this game is worth your money don't be if you like the anime i guarantee this game you will love it. and i hope this review was helpful to you

I Have played both Ultimate Ninja Storm 1 and 2 and I can happily say that Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Storm Generations is without a doubt my favorite Naruto Game out there! With more than 70 playable characters this has the largest roster in a Naruto game to date! I have been playing it non stop since I picked it up this morning and wow am i really enjoying it! While i can say a bit was taken away from the story as a whole most major points are covered and of course more stories are told not included in the other two games.The graphics ars stunning as always and combat is really fun! Do yourself a favor and pick it up

The creators of the Ultimate Storm video game series seemed to shoot themselves in the feet with UNS: Generations. This game appeared to be, at least to me, a sort of buffer between UNS: 2 and UNS: 3. The fact that Generations came right in the middle of the Storm 2 and Storm 3, combined with the lower quality of this game, makes it obvious that developers were trying to keep fans of the video game series interested while waiting patiently for the 3rd installment. Unfortunately, as a fan of the series, I was not satisfied with this game as I anticipated to be.

PROBLEM AREAS: (Sadly, there are many.)

-Lack of story mode: Obviously because developers were putting Naruto Shippuden UNS: 3 into process, and did not have the money to spend and the time to promote a more extensive game with longer game play and larger worlds. Taking away a key component of the game series to be able to move around as Naruto, Sasuke and other characters in a story mode where one can gather items and interact with the environment is a HUGE draw back to me. It'll lead me into my next point...

-Fixed, narrated story mode: This made up for the lack of free play. To me, the narration was inconsistent and the individuals used for narration in the Japanese version, which I vastly prefer over the dub did not seem to mesh well with the personalities/storylines of the characters they were narrating for. That's just an opinion, but for example, the Japanese narration for Sasuke's arc was heavy, drawn-out and awkward sounding. Not to mention that I didn't feel like sitting through a lengthy, verbose narration about things I already knew well of the characters in the game! With this new and mediocre mode, one unlocks new arcs without free play by finishing initial arcs first if you beat Sasuke's tale, you unlock Itachi's, and so on and so forth. To me, this didn't seem challenging.

-Lack of difficulty: Again, this game did not have a difficult layout. You beat one arc, you unlock another, and if you are very bored of watching 5-10 minute narrations about things you already know [if you've watched the show or read up to date what is happening], you skip the cutscenes, head into battles we've sometimes even seen before in previous games, and then move onto another narration/cutscene. The game itself is very FLAT.

-Some CGI glitches: Just something I noticed. Movement could get awkward at times. The developers aimed high to make character movement more fluid but now and then it becomes difficult to maneuver the characters and how they move. Hopefully it will be better in UNS: 3.

-Poor concept art: I might be picky with this since I am an artist myself, but I found the art for this game the drawings of characters as we select them for battle in the free play arena/computer vs. player, etc. mode to be poorer than previous concept art we have seen with the UNS series. I found the new drawings of our favorite characters to be somewhat... off, and not as aligned to Kishimoto's vision. Essentially they seemed like a fan artist's version of these characters, a very good version, but not the Kishimoto version. This irked me, and seemed to reinforce that the time put into this makes it a cheap buffer game and nothing more.

-New substitution meter: For some reason, developers put in a substitution bar for doing substitutions that makes it impossible for one to do an unlimited number as we could in Storm: 2. You have a certain number of substitutions available and if the bar runs out, even if you have chakra at your demand, well... good luck! This was annoying. Substitution is a huge win factor in the Storm series. Without it, you could very well die...all the time.

POSITIVE AREAS: (Yes, this game does have some positives, but not many!)

-An attempt at more fluid game play. Stated in the above. It was a major improvement from the last game and I appreciate this despite some glitches.

-Very attractive visuals, which is always a huge plus for this game series.

-A wide range of characters to unlock and play... but perhaps too many? It's really a matter of opinion. I see the 'generations' theme they were going for though. I think that the wide range of characters could be fun for individuals who are newer to the Naruto/Shippuden series.

-Some interesting new battle areas. Not fabulous, but the effort is put in and you can tell. They were going for variety here.

VERDICT: This game is definitely a buffer game, and take that as you will. You will NOT find the high quality, free play story mode of Storm 2 and previous games, and this might make some of you out there, if you're anything like me, very frustrated. The visuals are excellent, but is that worth paying even 27 or 28 dollars for this game, when you could save up to pre-order Ultimate Ninja Storm: 3? Absolutely not. If you're a big fan of this series you're bound to face disappointment.

Don't waste the cash. Even though I was thinking of giving this 1 star, the effort put into SOME areas, like visuals, more fluid game play, and a greater variety prevented me from giving this game 1 star, but it still not worth paying the money for. It's only so-so.

I'm pretty sure I've played most, if not all, of the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games. While this one is my favorite (mainly because of the new characters you can use), there are some things of the past I wished this game had.

Game Modes: There's no explore Konoha and surrouding areas RPG mode! While this aspect isn't necessary in a fighting game, and I've seen other recent fighting games also eliniate this part, it definitely allows the player to take a break from the sometimes monotony of continuously battling. I'm not a big online battler either, so an RPG mode would have been greatly appreciated. The story mode is interesting as it takes you through the perspectives of different characters. I was definitely looking forward to the new Anime scenes that were being promoted, but, honestly, only a couple of them were of any real worth or fun to watch. Another downside to the story mode is that, even though you do get to play as different characters, some of them have intertwining stories, and therefore it's possible for you to fight the same battle two or three times...just as different people. That to me became too monotonous to a point. Also, the lack of "cinematic/quick time" battles leaves the mode a bit lacking. Free Battle Mode has your typical VS, Online Battle, and Training. There's also a Survival Mode and Tournament Mode. I have tried Tournament yet, but I do like the survival. It provides a good amount of chalenge at times, and I'm only at the intermmediate level right now. You have to start at Basic or Beginner Level (can't remember what it's called) and work your way up. The other modes are the Store and Collection, which are all self-explanatory.

Gameplay: The battle system really hasn't change from the past couple games. The attack, jump, item, and chakra charge buttons are all the same. Every character has one jutsu attack and one Ultimate Jutsu (which, sadly, were all recycled from the last game except for the new characters). This is actually one of the things I hate the most about the last couple games. in the past, although you could still use only one Ultimate Jutsu, but at least almost every character had a few of them to chose from. There's still Awakening Mode. For those new to the series, this mode becomes available when your HP gets below 50%. You charge your chakra to the max, and your characters gain heightened defense, attack, etc. You also still have to support characters, each with pre-assigned characteristics (attack, defense, or balance). You have a team gauge, and the more you use your support characters, the more the gauge fills. When you fill the gauge up once, it automatically activates your supports' passive abilities. If the ability is Attack, your support will join you for a few hits when you attack your opponent with regular attacks, and when you knock and opponent back (either with a jutsu or regular attack) your support will appear to knock them back for an extra hit. If their ability is defense, your support will protect you while you chakra charge or when an opponent tries to dash at you in order to stun you. Finally, if their ability is balance then your support will join you when you when you chakra charge and throw shuriken and they will also take your opponent's Ultimate's Jutsu instead of you getting hit (which can be useful but it also knocks out that support for the remainder of the battle). Now, if you fill the gauge up a second time, it allows you to do a team attack, which is always fun to watch and can take away almost 50% of the enemy's HP. The one thing I wish the game implemented was switching out your team of characters during battle, kind of like Marvel vs Capcom instead of having one main fighter and two supports. The only really big change that I noticed was that you can't spam the subtitution jutsu. You have a gauge that lets you do it a maximum of four times, and then you'll have to wait for the gauge to refill any of the four bars before you can use it again. This definitely adds more strategy to the game, which is good.

Characters: Yes, there are over 70 characters that span from the beginning of the Naruto timeline to the 5 Hokage Summit Arc. Here's my beef though. Only like 20 of those characters are from before Shippuuden, which is disappointing to me because I was really looking forward to playing as characters that they stopped using in the recent games like (Anko, Kurenai, the Sound 4) and maybe even some new ones from that generation like (Genma, Raido, Ibiki). Oh, but it's not that those characters don't appear in the game, they're just support only. So not only are there less characters from teh first generation, the ones you can use are just younger versions of Naruto and his friends. More diversity would have been nice.

The only other thing I can think to comment on are the stages. There's a good number of them, but there is also some repetition. A few of the stages are the same place just different times of day or different weather.

Despite all of the things that I found to be a downside (they are all personal opinions), this game is a ton of fun, and the new characters are a definite welcome addition.

Well, I bought this like three months ago, I usually don't care about online playing so I just spend my playing time against the computer or completing the story modes, so for a fighting game is the same than all the others naruto games for ps3 very repetitive, so the only way you enjoy this game is if you love this tv show otherwise it doesn't have much to offer, besides the big character roster.

I will by ultimate ninja storm 3 when the price drops because even if it's like the second part which was very good, naruto games don't deserve to be so expensive. They are too silly for being so expensive :P

I got this back when Streetfighter 4 first came out, and the Madcatz controllers were hard to find. When I started using it, I was surprised at how difficult it was to execute moves, especially circle moves like fireballs/dragon punches. This being my first stick since the Sega Genesis days, I chalked it up to inexperience with fight sticks in general. However, after a week I still had trouble pulling off basic moves. At the time I simply figured I was too used to the normal controller, and that was that. I put the stick up for consigment and decided to stick to the ol' D-pad.

Recently I decided to give sticks another chance, but this time I elected to drop the extra cash and get one of the Tournament Edition sticks. It wasn't until I started using the TE stick that I realized what a poor product the "Dominator" was. The dominator's plastic feels light, cheap, and transparent (perhaps by design, allowing the LED lights to be more visable). The stick is hard to move, you need to pull rather hard in any direction to get it to register. The same can be said about the buttons, which need to be pounded. Another complaint is the sharp edges, which make putting this in your lap uncomfortable. When you compare all of this to a Madcatz stick, which has a very reactive stick, buttons that are TOO sensitive if anything, a piano black finish, a heavy weight, and angled edges for for comfortable lap use, you really see where the extra cash goes.

The only pros are the LED lights and chrome buttons, which are purely cosmetic. But even on a superficial level, the dominator looks and feels like a toy.

A word on the memory feature...

I had no intention on using this feature when I purchased the stick, so I didn't bother with it. However before I took it in I decided to test it. The first thing I'll say is the button to activate what you program is small and poorly located above the stick. I can't imagine fumbling to find and use it in an actual game.

Anyone worried someone will use this online and program El Fuerte's infinate combo can rest easy, because IT CAN NOT HANDLE ADANCED STREETFIGHTER COMBOS. Streetfighter "block string" combos ( i.e. crouch LP, crouch LP, crouch MK-Hadoken) reqire imputs as fast as 1 to 4 frames, in other words 1/60 to 4/60 of a SECOND. This device simply isn't sophisticated enough to handle that level of precision. I suppose it might work on 10 hit Tekken combos, but again, the placing of the activation button will be an issue if you want to cheat.

First let me say that I've never been compelled to write a review before, but I'm so thoroughly disgusted by this product that I just had to.

Save your money and get a different joystick. The original d-pad had a much better response for sf2 hd remix and marvel vs capcom 2. The buttons stick, and often times had to be pressed on with force for them to work. At other times, when my fingers weren't placed directly on the center of the button, it wouldn't depress fully, and therefore didn't register. I could barely pull off a fireball, let alone a dragon punch. The build quality seems, well...pretty cheap. For a controller this size, you'd expect some heft to it, but it's disturbingly light. I didn't mess around with the move program options or the turbo buttons, so I can't really comment on those aspects.

I consider myself a fighting game veteran, and this is just unacceptable. I didn't want to spend bucks for a joystick, so I settled for this one based on the first two reviews, but if you purchase this product, you're just throwing you're money away.

I begin by saying that I am not a devoted fighting games enthusiast, but I enjoy SF2, SSF2T:HD and SF4 the most out of all the fighting games I have ever played. I used to own all of the SF2s on the Super Famicom/SNES and had a Capcom Fighting Stick.

I bought this on around the 21st of Feb at a local retailer in Hong Kong (1/F of 188 Oriental Shopping Centre in Wan Chai) for HK$498. I understand that play-asia.com has them in stock too. The stick is primarily intended for use with SF4. I haven't watched the video review above, and have only used it for around 2 hours total. Before that I had used the DS3 for around an hour, hence why I went shopping for a stick. I haven't tried it with any other fighting games.

The Dominator was for me the cheapest and most easily available alternative to the really rather expensive Hori sticks which I could find locally. The Horis were going in the shops for around HK$1300 and even play-asia.com's cheapest Hori was just below HK$1000. So for the price of that I could have (though I didn't) bought 2 of these and gotten my mates over to play! Plus I have already spent a lot of money and space on other gaming kit, such as 2 Rock Band guitars, the drums, and a Logitech G25 mounted on a Playseat full racing seat setup...

The stick itself really does resemble that in the picture. The blue LEDs are slightly less tacky-looking in real life than they are in the picture, particularly as the translucent plastic used in the base, while acceptable, will not go particularly well with your Ligne Rosset lounge chairs. The button action is acceptable, although I find that MP is a bit firmer than the rest for some reason. They are all coated with somewhat cheap-looking chrome paint.

The stick (the ball of which is also coated with the slightly cheap-looking chrome paint) is far better than the D-pad on the DS3. Ther eis an acceptable 8-way clicky action to it. Fireball-style moves can still be a bit hard to pull off, but this probably has to do with the angle with which I am using the stick (can't put it on the table) plus the fact that I haven't used an arcade stick for SF-style games for well-over a year. It's superb for dragon punches and charging moves. I haven't played much with Zangief so I decline to attempt to grade my spinning piledriver attempts. It does make using E.Honda a real pleasure though.

I should point out that I am having trouble executing the Ken kata-throw (as mentioned in a 1up guide MK followed quickly by throw) as well as effectively cancelling into focus moves, but I think that is also probably more a matter of timing than anything else.

I have not tried out the macro function as I would rather develope l337 sk1llz or die trying. ;)

Overall, as you may be able to tell from what I have said above, the build quality of the stick is acceptable, given the price. Furthermore, and more importantly, it is inherently usable as a fighting stick. I intend to try it with Soldner-X and 1942 Joint Strike when I have some free time, but I see no reason why it would be any worse for those if it can put up with SF4.

The only reason I have rated this stick 4 stars instead of 5 is that it's a bit cheap-looking and is obviously not made out of super-high-end components. However, in this case, and particularly given the cost of the Hori sticks, it's just a matter of getting what you pay for. Plus it's not like one is going to be able to use this stick for 10 years or more anyway (as my still-working Capcom Fighting Stick with its outdated SNES/Super Famicom connector will tell you). Highly recommended for cash-strapped fighting enthusiasts.

Overall the game felt more realistic than UFC 2010 and as anyone who has played ufc 2010 knows it still isn't quite right. The graphics are the best so far out of all mma games I have seen. It doesn't have a UFC roster but with the options of spectators and extensive create a fighter mode and downloads I have no doubt all those fighters will be in this game. Easily my favorite MMA game. I just hope they don't do what THQ did when they released 2009 a few weeks later boasting a 2010 killing the 2009 lasting appeal.

The fighter Share option allows you to download created fighters by other gamers. The top downloads are like Brock lesnar, Chuck Lidell etc. So you end up having STrikeforce and UFc all in one.

The ability to use your own photo to create a fighter also I liked a lot.

In career mode with your fighter you can simulate workouts with no penalty like in other games.

The option to hold your own online tournaments which can be spectated by way of Link so people can use the pc to watch it as well.

Gamepad rumbles when your guy is transitioning a little early alert system.

I wish they allowed open weight tournaments maybe if enough requests. I liked the submissions in UFC 2010 a little better but this overall is a great game.

Seeing Green belts blue belts and purple belts tear through all the newbie white belts entering the game. This of course can be very discouraging. They need a better pairing system but this also makes me feel the population is very low and the white belts are like fresh meat to the more advanced players.

I know the game is new but after playing ufc 2010 I never got "couldn't find players". I wish I knew the population of players in this game. On EA sports it shows 80,000 players on console, figure 60+% of that is xbox and then figure 40-% on ps3 now with all the other sport games EA has I wonder how small the population is on this game and does the game have staying power... I don't think a lot of people went for this game they are missing out on a different style of play.

The anatomy of bones in the arms and legs that are about to be broken also looks very cool but you are so focused on the mini game of submission you can't really check it out all the time.

RENT IT you may love it or hate it give it a try.

I have a feeling this may be another facebreaker or Fight night round 4. Even Medal of honor has maybe 15,000 players. EA MMA if they are lucky have a little over 5000 players on ps3. Now on any given time maybe 80 to 100. I noticed last night I ran into the same guy in different weight classes at least 6 times so I know the population just isn't there. Sad cause the game had potential and lack of having the UFC roster shows.

To me population is everything if the game has no population it's single player is not capable of carrying the game. The Meat of the game is it's online play and if in a month it's a ghost town the game ends up collecting dust. Another $60.00 title that maybe should have been $30.00. Guess I gotta go back to UFC 2010 and deal with some robotic gameplay instead... EA shouldn't have burned that bridge with UFC telling them MMA isn't a real sport they could have really made an awesome game.

Im an MMA fan in general, so instead of Just UFC, I watch and enjoy any MMA promotion. I am a former owner of UFC Undisputed 2009, and a current owner of UFC Undisputed 2010. I played Undisputed 2010 for a long time, so after a while I was ready for something new. Thats when EA announced that they were releasing a MMA game, and after the success of Fight Night Round 4, I was all ears. After reading some reveiw's after its release alot of people were saying that it was mediocre, and things of that nature. Well after alot of thinking, I purchased my copy the other day for a great price, and so far i've been satisfied. The game's graphics are amazing, and alot like Fight Night Round 4's. There are plenty of different arenas to fight in from all over the world, including the option of fighting in regular rings, circular cages, or six sided cages. There are venues from different promotions, five of which are fictional, and one (StrikeForce) thats actually exist. This gives EA Sports MMA alot more variety than UFC in my opinion, especially in the career mode. There are about 40 or 50 fighters to choose from here, half of which many of you probobly have never heard of, but that still shouldn't be a problem. The inclusion of female fighters like the actual StrikeForce promotion would've made the game even more authentic in my opinion but whatever. The gameplay is awsome compared to UFC. You strike using the Total Punch Control scheme that was used with the Fight Night series of games, where you use the right analog stick to strike using either your hands or feet. everything else like clinching, takedowns, submissions, etc, are pretty easy to learn and pick up on your own, and are much easier to pull of than UFC, especially submissions, where if its a choke, you have to use the left analog stick to find a "Zone", and apply more pressure. Your opponent who is in the submission also can use this to break free. For submissions using limbs, you have to tap the square botton, but you have to manage your stamina carefully, and the same goes for when YOUR the one trapped in the submission hold. Knockouts are quite common too. If you don't know how to block/parry attacks or stick and move then its gonna be a quick fight. Online is the best thing about the game in my opinion. There's always someone online to play, and its been lag free for me so far. You can rank up, and the better you do in fights, the more XP you'll gain to be qualified as a contender for the title in your weightclass. Theres also something new called 'Live Broadcasts' that can be viewed from PC or consoles. The player will be able to upload hype videos, which will help to increase popularity. EA Sports will choose the fighters based on their Hype videos and schedule fight cards just like in real life MMA. Real life prizes will then be given out to a certain level. I haven't been able to try this yet, but I do plan to in the future. The career mode is also pretty fun to play through. The same as UFC, you create your own fighter, start off in some poor promotion, and fight your way to the top. Pretty simple.

Overall, EA Sports MMA isn't a bad game at all. Its pretty cool to be honest, and I recommend it to any UFC or MMA fan in general.

It's a no brainer to buy if you like the strikeforce, dream, bellator organizations. There are plenty of fighters to choose from. It's a good start for EA. There should be more variety of moves on the next one. And the striking isn't that great. I find it hard to hit people with the fight night controls. Graphics are pretty good for the fighters, and intros are good but short.

Initially I did not like the controls when I downloaded the demo, but after a while you get the hang out of it. The controls are similar to Fight Night. Not sure what is going to happen with this series since UFC recently bought Strikeforce, but it makes a good pickup if you can get it for around $20.

I'll start off by saying this game is very violently entertaining. (Slap stick)

Personally more fun to play with others.

This is available on PSN and I would wait for it to be on sale BECAUSE the basic game comes with only a few levels and characters.

After a while, the game can become pretty redundant and boring. This is where new levels and characters would be handy... and that is where things get annoying.

Every add on is more money. If you want a new character...it'll cost you, if you want another map... it'll cost you. If you are someone that plays through a game rather quickly the concept of having to purchase all the levels and characters might piss you off considering the game isn't very cheap in itself.

If you take your time with games then this might not be a problem for you.

OVERALL, the game play is easy yet challenging.

The controls are not complex, but the goals are.

The characters are a funny bunch of creeps and the maps are very engaging, so no matter what you WILL have some fun. :)

The games included in this product have each been out now for several years on other systems. Rather than review the gameplay and ramble on about my thoughts on the stories, I have decided to simply do a brief Q&A on just what you should expect to find with this particular product itself to try and help you, as a customer, be properly informed. That being said, I hope you find these answers helpful in your decision making process.

Q. What games are included that I can actually play through?

A. There are two games included with your purchase that you can play in full. The first is the original Kingdom Hearts (however this is the Final Mix edition (which, long story short, is a tweaked and slightly renovated version of the original classic that was originally exclusively released only in Japan). The second game included is Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Both of these have been beautifully remastered in High Definition for this release and truly look stunning and also feature enhanced gameplay mechanics. In addition, both games come with their own set of trophies (and yes, two platinums).

Q. Wait...Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories? What about Kingdom Hearts II?

A. Kingdom Hearts II (released in 2006) is NOT included in this product.

Q. What about Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days?

A. You cannot play Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days with this purchase. HOWEVER, there is a "Theater Mode" which will allow you to view roughly 2 hours and 50 minutes of remastered HD footage (in the form of cinematics) from the game (as well as some new additional scenes). Believe it or not, there is trophy support available for this.

Q. How many discs are included inside the box?

A. Both games (included the cinematics for "358/2 Days") are all bundled up into one solitary disc.

Q. Tell me more. What kind of trophy support can I expect from this release.

A. As stated earlier, both Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories will have their own set of trophies that each have their own platinum. To be more specific, Kingdom Hearts will have 56 trophies, and Chain of Memories will have 48 trophies that can be earned. In addition, the cinematics for Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days will also have a total of 6 trophies that can be earned (none of which are platinum).

Q. Is this a good value? Should I purchase this? Can it be purchased on PSN digitally?

A. As far as I know, for the time being of this review (9/10/13), neither as a whole or individually can this game and its contents be purchased digitally through PSN. To my knowledge, and upon further research, there are no plans for now to release these titles digitally (though that could easily change). Is the price of $39.99 a good value for what is involved? Absolutely! Whether or not you should purchase this is purely up to you. If by some chance you haven't played any of these titles, don't worry, I'm not going to sit here and type up a bunch of spoilers for you; I'll let you figure that out yourself. If that's the case, all the information I'll provide you with is that if you like Disney, and if you like RPGs, and if you're familiar with the Final Fantasy franchise, then you'll definitely find this to be highly entertaining. Personally I only played the first game before I headed out to college. For me, this is a great opportunity to not only relive the original classic, but also to experience something new in the sequel. Regardless of my own personal experiences, you'll be treated to both games (and the cinematics for a "358/2 Days") being presented in spectacular and eye-popping HD. Plus, and as mentioned countless times before, if you're a trophy-buff like me, you'll find plenty of those to be unlocked here.

So for now, these are just a few simple questions answered that you may have wondered or were curious to know prior to purchasing. By all means, please feel free to leave any further questions in the comments. I'll gladly answer them (if they are to my knowledge) as soon as I get the chance.

Q. What is the art book like that comes with the Limited Edition?

A. The art book is actually a part of the case which holds the game together. As stated before, all of this is packed onto one disc (which you will find at the very back of this wonderfully illustrated hardcover book. Yes, that's right, it's hardcover. Personally, I thought that the book was going to be a separate piece, however the way the bundled it all up into one unit is very convenient. As for the artwork itself? All I can say is that there isn't quite much, but for what we do get the images are a beautiful and true behind the scenes look at the characters and items from the game that we've all grown to love throughout the years. In fact, there is even an intro in both English and Japanese (neat)! Is this a worthy addition? Well if you pre-ordered this through Amazon and got a free upgrade to the Limited Edition, then absolutely! If you end up reading this review and making a purchase later, I'd still say as long as its nothing more than just a few bucks pricier, go for it! Yet if it does end up being around five extra bucks, then I'd suggest simply sticking with the Standard Edition. One minor complaint worth noting is that the by packaging the game into the book itself, it is larger in size than a standard PS3 case would be. So if you are worried about the item fitting on your gaming shelf, then I'd recommend sticking with the Standard Edition to prevent any complications.

So let's get through the cons first, because there really is only a few of them:

1. The CameraWhile they have fixed the camera to the right joystick, there is still sometimes some camera issues. Is it better than the original PS2 release: absolutely! But there are still times when I want to throw my controller through the TV because the camera won't adjust the way I need/want it to. So be prepared for that. While it has been improved from the original release.

2. Not as "HD" as you would make it out to beWhat I mean by this is that it's suppose to be a remaster. While I don't expect everything to be perfect, there are some points where the game looks extremely pixelated or looks a little funny. I'm not sure if it's because they didn't remaster all pieces of the worlds or items in the game, or if it is something else. But it's definitely noticeable. It's a small con though. But it is not remastered like the way FFX has been displayed. Things are smoother and cleaner, but not everything is so smooth or "HD" looking. Once again doesn't change the fact that the game itself is phenomenal. Just a little strange.

Pros-

1. Finally you can play your KH1 & Chain of Memories on your PS3 (except for those with backwards compatible PS3's, you lucky jerks!)! So you get a trophy system this time around, and also a wireless controller that works well. (Once again, minus the lucky Back Compatible PS3 people.)

2. Final Mix in USAWe finally get all of the additonal bonus content that was in the Final Mix. It has never been released in the US, so unless you imported it, there is lots of new items, abilities, etc to try out!

3. Updated controlsThe controls overall are more similar to KHII, which I find to be a welcome change. Triangle is back to do a lot of things that couldn't be done quickly in KHI originally.

4. Relive the magicAs corny as this sounds, you can now share this experience the way it was meant to be shared with friends, family, children, etc. I have been having an amazing time going through the series again. And the additional Chain of Memories, and Cinema 358/2 Days is great! This is a great way for Square Enix to get people back in the saddle and caught up with the whole story before KHIII will be released, (Hopefully 2015!).

Here's to hoping that a KH2.5 with KHII, Birth By Sleep, and Re: Coded is coming! I don't think it will come with 3DS due to how it was recently released!

I fondly remember the general sentiment of, "Wait, they're doing what?" When Kingdom Hearts was first announced. "The people who make Final Fantasy are going to make a game with Disney characters? That seems insane."

Truth is, it's still kind of insane. Looking at the series now, a decade later and with several games available, it's all pretty darn weird. Still, I was immediately hooked once I got my hands on that first game on the PS2, and I've been invested in these characters ever since. Because Kingdom Hearts didn't just let us wander around Agrabah with Aladdin or explore under the sea with Ariel. It wasn't just an action RPG with a lot of Final Fantasy cameos. It also introduced us to Sora, Riku, Kairi and a host of other people that I've come to care about — most of them brought to life by a star-studded voice cast that was pretty ambitious for its time.

Yes, the story can be… complex. There have been a lot of "Wait, what is happening? I'm so lost" moments since Kingdom Hearts II, and trying to keep everything straight across multiple games that span multiple game systems is not the easiest of tasks. Still, I have legitimate love for this universe and this gameplay. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that I was young when it was introduced, but I still like it now.

Now, Square Enix and Disney have remastered and re-released the oldest titles in a PS3 compilation, because that's the hip thing to do these days. The original Kingdom Hearts (technically, the Final Mix version of the game that was never released in the US), the oddball, card-based sequel Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (which was originally a Game Boy Advance game, but which was later remade for the PS2 as a necessary narrative link between Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II), and the weirdest entry: Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days.

While I haven't played through those first two games to completion in this HD ReMix, I played enough of both to know that if I had a week or two of free time at the moment, I would be absolutely willing to go back and play those games again after all this time. They're not perfect, but they hold up well.

Going back was weird in some ways. Having grown accustomed to the newer games in the series (Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance on the 3DS being the most recent example), the original game felt a little slow by comparison. There were gameplay elements I've become accustomed to that don't exist here. But all that said, it holds up surprisingly well for a game that's more than 10 years old. The fresh coat of graphical paint helps, of course, but it's still a fun adventure regardless.

Chain of Memories is the game I particularly want to spend more time revisiting. I only ever played the GBA original, so seeing it in full 3D here, with voice acting and new cutscenes, is all new to me. While I'm sure the card-based gameplay has never been for everybody, I personally thought it was a nice change of pace from almost every Kingdom Hearts game before or since. It, too, seems to hold up well from what I've been able to see so far.

358/2 Days is the weirdest entry in this collection not because it's name makes no sense at all (and it sounds so ridiculous when you try to say it out loud), but because it isn't actually a game in this collection. Instead, it's a series of cutscenes from the original Nintendo DS game strung together to make a sort-of-movie with all the game's plot points. I didn't time it as I watched, but it was probably three hours of content at most — and if you care, all of the game's trophies are obtained simply by watching it all and scrolling through all the unlocked journal entries. Easy peasy.

It was probably a smart move to turn the DS game into a series of movies rather than convert it into a PS3-quality game (which would have taken a lot of work and redesigning), but that doesn't mean it's the most fulfilling way to experience that story, either. The way the narrative is organized, with CG cutscenes interspersed with a few paragraphs of text here and there, can be really confusing — and I'm saying that about a story that was pretty hard to follow in the first place. The story jumps around quite a bit and it doesn't always make sense. After watching it all play out for a couple hours or so, you may still have to pull up Wikipedia just so you can have someone explain to you exactly what just happened.

Still, that's better than nothing. If you're someone who only owns Sony systems, there was previously no other way for you to see this story at all (outside of YouTube playthroughs, I guess, but that seems less than ideal).

Now that we have this great collection, I hope rumors of a Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMix prove true. Specifically, I hope it really does contain at least KH2 and the PSP game Birth By Sleep, which seems like it would translate to the big screen nicely (and was already a great game, to boot). Not to mention how excited I got at the tiny teaser Square-Enix gave us of Kingdom Hearts III, which should be finally coming to the PS4 and Xbox One at some point (sadly, it's probably still a long while off).

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMix is a good way to either get excited for the series for the first time, or to remind yourself why you cared in the first place.

... The camera problems were never fixed. I have to say it is the most annoying thing about the game. I know you can switch the camera preferences but both suck either way. Otherwise this game will blow your socks off and if you played it as a child you will be reminded on how your socks were blown off before. This game looks gorgeous under 1080p especially with the new character models.

The art book? Oh my gawd, that art book. I don't want to ruin it now but the incorporation of the art book is phenomenal! That's all I'm going to say about that.

I must say that Donald and Goofy also do not have an option to care about Sara first. I can't tell you how hard it makes the game when they only heal each other. Playing on proud mode is that much harder when your allies aren't very smart (or wasn't given the option to be).

Get this, get it now.

Also I understand putting the DS version of a game is impossible to put on one screen, but making a game of just cinematics is crazy.

I was terribly disappointed in MP3. I picked it up on sale and have been so frustrated with this game that I've been tempted to just stop playing it and sell it off. I had MP1 and 2 on PC back in the day and was looking forward to this game. I had heard that the controls were not very good on PC so I opted for the PS3 version and it has not been a very fun experience.

The Good:

* Graphically it looks fairly nice. Colourful and varied environments. Unfortunately, the anti-aliasing is poor and there are often a look of distracting jagged edges. The models and textures look pretty decent though.

* AI isn't bad. The enemy is pretty good at flanking you which can be utterly devastating since Max's mobility is quite poor.

* Gun play can be entertaining. There are some situations where the gun play can be quite fun but it is so incredibly hampered by the control issues that it really detracts from the entertainment.

The Bad:

* I don't find the story very compelling. Max's anti-hero schtick can get a bit annoying at times but it's expected for a MP game. But the supporting characters are just not very interesting and do things that don't make sense in the context of the story. For example, where did Passos go? Why is he never around to help you? I understand that MP 3 single player is a solo-experience but why create a character who is supposed to be so reliable and then never have him actually do anything useful? So much of the story is also explained through unskippable cutscenes which are just incredibly annoying. Loading screens are also long and include long load times to even quit what you are doing.

The Ugly:

* I have played a lot of 3rd person shooters and I have never experienced such a frustrating game as MP3. The cover mechanic is absolutely appalling. The transitions aren't smooth and there are many things in the environment you can't cover behind even if it would seem like you could. Not only that, but there are things you can't aim from behind either. Entering and exiting cover is jerky and imprecise and the entire time enemy are unloading bullets on you. There are no smooth cover-to-cover transitions so you just become a giant bullet sponge. I elected to play with free aim since I find auto-aiming too easy, but the game really punishes you for it. It also makes absolutely no sense then when you try to exit cover, you often just stand up. Let's say I'm behind a low wall and "in cover" and I want to move somewhere else. Rather than exiting cover and remaining crouched, I'll just pop and get absolutely hosed. This makes no sense. Can't I just "detach" from the cover and remain crouched?

* As I mentioned, Max's mobility is really poor. Even when sprinting you are rather slow and since you are almost always completely overwhelmed, every extra second you spend exposed you are getting shot. It would be fine if you could easily enter and exit cover while moving around, but everything feels just so slow and uncoordinated. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that when you are hurt enough you automatically enter bullet-time to try and kill the bad guy shooting you. This is made all the more irritating because you are often locked into a camera position where you can't even hit the enemy.

* I have unfortunately encountered at least 5 times issues where I get stuck on cover. I can't move, I can't shoot or aim, I can't select a different weapon, or do anything. The game is still going on around me but I'm just stuck there doing nothing. Then, inexplicably, I'll exit cover and get shot to pieces.

I just can't bring myself to complete the game after logging maybe 5-6 agonizing hours. I would be willing to put more time and effort in if the story was more rewarding or the game play more exciting, but it is just so incredibly frustrating that I have a really hard time dragging myself to play it. If you take a game like Uncharted 3 or Batman Arkham City as the best 3rd person cover-based action game for PS3 and rate either a 10/10 on the game play aspect, then I would easily rate MP3 as a 4/10. That's right, it's below average. It's just so cumbersome, clumsy, and down right frustrating that it takes away from the entire game play experience. I would rent this game or get it in a bargain bin but paying $40+ for this game is completely not worth it in my opinion.

Well I just ordered this game brand new and got it in the mail a few days ago. The graphics are pretty good not bad at all not top of the line but good enough to enjoy the game! I'm on chapter 5 right now and I have to say it's like playing a role as a actor in a movie. It's like you playing the role of a hired security and you lost who you supposed to protect and you have to go find them. Just like a great movie this is the same fashion. I like this game alot in the single player I think if you like movie ''Heat'' or ''Taken 2'' You will like this game because it's has that same roll to it. So, story line 5stars

This game was pretty good, I definitely recommend it to someone looking for something new to play. While I didn't really buy the game, I did rent it for a week and finish it. It was a good time, character design is so so, the graphics are pretty good, the shootingis good...now The multi-player experience... It's like a whole different game and it's better than the GTA IV one, I felt like mentioning that since it's from the same company.

Overall I give it a 8.5 out of 10 . Can't wait for GTA V, it looks good.

What Max Payne 3 does it does well. Unfortunately it doesn't do a whole lot.

PROS:

Presentation -

This is a must for any Max Payne as the first two entries in the series are loaded with great presentation. Gone is the comic book style of story telling. Instead the game will take a freeze frame of the current cut scene and move it off to one side of the screen while keeping the rolling cut scene going in the other half of the screen. Choice words from the narrative are also displayed on screen in big block letters. This provides a stylized manner of display not seen in any other game and it really works well while keeping something of a modern day comic book feel to it.

Style -

The majority of the game will take place in warm weather locations though there are some levels in the snowy city streets that previous Max Payne games are known for. But each locale brings a noir style feel to it familiar to MP and MP2. Max Payne himself is a likeable and deeply fleshed out character that is anything but cliche. He's very vulnerable, long in the tooth, has put on a few pounds and just seems tired and in need of a drink all the time. This lends to the believability considering the hell that he has gone through. Though you will mow down countless hundreds of enemies, you never feel like some cliche unstoppable warrior that's 10 feet tall and bulletproof. He doesn't make corny and cheesy one liners and instead says the kinds of things that you could really expect someone to say in a given situation. If anything some of the things he says are kind of nerdy or old fashioned which actually makes him more likeable.

Incredible animations -

Enemies walk, run and die in realistic looking ways. Some enemies will fall right over, others will clutch a spurting artery and writhe on the ground for several seconds before finally succumbing to their injuries. Max Payne is also animated well. When you kill the final enemy in a group of enemies the game will go into a slow motion mini cut scene of the kill shot which you can slow down further by holding the X button. It's very satisfying to watch your bullet travel from the barrel of your gun through the air and then explode through an enemy's face. The gore is also very realistic looking, especially on head shots, as the exit wound will actually mushroom the enemy's head outwards.

Detailed Levels -

Each level has an excellent amount of detail, whether it be a shanty town of tin roof shacks, a soccer stadium or a snowy graveyard, all of the levels look great and have a great amount of things to look at.

Music/Sound -

The sounds are great and if you have a good system the explosions and such feel right at home. The music, especially towards the end of the game, is really awesome and sets up the perfect atmosphere.

CONS:

Lack of variety -

There's nothing here that hasn't been done in other games before. In a nutshell you will be taking cover and popping out to shoot enemies until they're all gone, move forward to the next room, rinse, repeat. There are a few scenes where an NPC will drive a vehicle and you'll shoot from a moving vehicle, but that's really the only break from the standard cover-and-shoot gameplay.

Controls -

Don't get me wrong, the controls aren't horrible, but for a game where all you really do is shoot, it seems like the control scheme would have been flawless. Successfully getting behind cover can be hit or miss when you press the square button. The L2 button locks your crosshair onto an enemy but at times it will choose an enemy in the back or an enemy behind cover rather than the one that's close to you and shooting you, which allows that enemy to get some easy shots on you. And my biggest complaint of all is if an enemy bum rushes your position. This where Max Payne is supposed to enter a melee mode where he'll hit the enemy with his gun and then finish them with a point blank shot. Unfortunately I found that he would only enter the melee mode about 25% of the time, and the other 75% of the time the enemy would walk right up on me and destroy me with point blank shots while I tried to move a clunky crosshair to his position in close quarters.

Glitches -

These were few and far between but were definitely noticeable. In one particular scene, Max Payne plays a piano. In my game his arms glitched out and turned around backwards and wrapped around his body which looked ridiculous. There are also some areas where Max Payne will be talking to himself and if you run too far forward before he's finished talking, he'll start another area where he's talking to himself, and the two dialogues will overlap simultaneously.

Story -

This was a bummer, as MP and MP2 had great story lines. Don't get this confused with presentation or style, as both of those are great, but the actual story just isn't all that interesting and at times you wonder what reason Max Payne really even has to pursue the villains other than a paycheck from his employer. This pales in comparison to the reasons he had to fight in the first two games.

CONCLUSION:

Not a bad game and definitely fun to play, but started to get a little boring towards the end mostly because of the lack of variety in the things you will do. You can only take cover and pop out to kill enemies for so long before it starts to become tedious and better guns and tougher enemies do little to change that. If you were a fan of the first two games you'll probably like this one as well, just don't expect anything to blow you away about it.

Every review must start off with a "first off," so here is mine: First off, the story behind Max Payne 3, or the reason why you're supposed to care about the main character enough to bother wading through all the bloodletting of enemies, is just plain bad. Thin in places, needlessly convoluted in others, it seems like what it is: poorly written filler material. And yes, this is a big deal, because in this game, you're kindof "playing" the movie. The action goes from scene to scene, plot point to plot point, with Max narrating: every now and again, you pop up to shoot the baddies yourself as Max. It's not like other Rockstar games, like the GTAs or Red Deads. Here there is no overarching world where you travel about encountering missions; these are just levels, each progressively harder than the last. Your typical shooter, I guess, but with more detailed scenes between the action.

Problem is? That detail? It sucks, to the discerning player. Sorry. You just sit through it waiting, wanting it to be over so you can resume the shooting. The sole exception is where Max rescues a girl and has to fight his way out of enemy territory with her; I found that a lot of fun. Her dialogue was great, she wasn't frustratingly weak, and the music and enemy action really made it feel like you were the star of an action movie.

Playing through the rest of the story, however, was sheer boredom. Who cares who did what to whom and why? Max had no idea, and was never really invested in the action because of that. He didn't care about anything he was doing other than to just be doing it, to survive, there were no clear underlying issues (or at least, no plausible ones).

At one point, for example, Max's friend and sometimes partner sets him up, but we don't really care how or why, and neither does Max, apparently, getting over it over the next few cutscenes. That could have been a major development, but was just glossed over.

Also, there isn't a lot of satisfaction is killing the big bad guys only because they're especially tough, in my opinion. That's just your typical arcade shoot-em-up stuff.

The A.I. improvements here are another issue. Often you will be shot with no ability to see where it came from; by the time you spin the camera around to orient yourself? You're dead. And this is by design, not accident. Blind corners, risings you don't know are there, previously secure doors bursting in, vomiting enemies. It becomes C.O.D. like, where you're often shot dead from where? You have no idea, your field of vision is too limited.

The weapon system is another problem. Rockstar had it perfected in Red Dead -why'd they change? Here you will often be frustrated by lack of ammo; and not because there's no ammo around, but because Max can't pick up what you want him to pick up. He can have only one or two types of a class of gun -try to pick up another, and he will drop one of the others. Very frustrating. Nothing is worse in this game than having plenty of guns, plenty of health, 4 or five "painkillers," but then being unable to shoot due to lack of ammo. What is Max supposed to use? His harsh language? This is particularly aggravating in the last man standing mode, where Max, at the end of his rope, has a chance to shoot an enemy and take a "painkiller" at the same time. Run out of ammo then, or just need to reload? Too bad. You're dead.

Of course it's good to be challenged. That's all in fun. Tough enemies are fun. But when the toughness includes stacking the deck against Max? Uh, no, not fun. And all the weapons are wonderful, I loved shooting them all. But when they are limited? When you must leave half of them on the ground? No, not fun at all. Or at least let me unlock the abilty to hold them all, and carry large amounts of ammo.

Bullettime is good, another wonderful development, giving Max at least the chance to wipe out multiple enemies at once. Precision shooting is great entertainment. It's also nice to be able to see where you're hitting enemies, instead of just killing them. And the shooting (contrary to some reviews) is smooth, almost flawless, as good or better than in Red Dead. And cover is more real-world, and so more interesting -hide behind wood, and you may find it slowly being shot to pieces by your adversary, for example. A welcome addition.

The music is good, better than in previous Max Payne incarnations.

The cinematic style of the play is interesting, another leap forward. The cut scenes become the action scenes; there are no clear divisions. That was exciting. One moment Max is (boringly) hobnobbing at a bar, the next he is playing shoot-em-up in the same window; very well done.

The flashbacks to Max's flight from the U.S. are fun, and more intelligently designed than other scenes.

The Golden Guns! They should be earned, not found. Again, Red Dead has it right. Why is Rockstar trying to fix what ain't broke? For example, get 1000 headshots, earn a piece of golden gun. That's so much better than, oh, well let me wander over here for a second before the next enemy wave commences, you know, behind this bar. There might be some painkillers or a piece of a golden gun back here. Bah. Such gimmicks should be reserved for other in-game collectables like (again!) more ammo.

Max narrating the action as you play it is another interesting development. Again, adds more to the cinematic aspect of the gameplay. I hope we see more of it.

The customizable aspect of the game is good, but not particularly worthwhile. There should be bigger rewards for completing the game on the harder difficulty settings, for example. Unlock new weapons, heck, even new outfits, something.

Overall (which is where all reviews should end up) this was an okay experience, worth the money, but definitely disappointing in the wake of Red Dead Redemption.

My final word is, please Rockstar, stop trying to fix what ain't broke. Don't let us down.
