Don't pay any attention to the negative reviews of this one. It's a big improvement over the last editions. Simply download the updates and you're in business. I like MLB The Show, but find the graphics here, including the stadiums, just a tad more realistic. The announcing is great and the game can be fine tuned to deliver as much of a challenge as you want. I have both The Show and this one and really enjoy them both!

This ones a bargain at $39.99 and even less on ebay. Get it!

I've been playing just under a week and the improvements are easily noticeable. First off the frame rate is vastly improved. Last year I played 2K8 for all of 20 mins and could take no more. The graphics are also better than last year but I thought the graphics in 2K7 were just as impressive.

I'm still getting used to the gameplay mechanics but I welcome the challenge. I will say that I despise the total control pitching and pine for the crosshairs of 2K7 but alas I know those are history. I still use the classic pitching option which has it's own frustrations such as the constant barrage of bean balls I seem to throw despite seemingly getting the meter just right. It also makes painting the corners next to impossible. Sometimes it seems like it's throw down the middle or beanballs are you're only options, it might just be my inexperience though I'm sure more practice will make perfect. Right now I'm constantly being clobbered by the computer. I hit at-'em balls and pop ups while the CPU hits gappers and homers all day.

I haven't played online yet so I can't comment on that. I'm a casual player so I also don't care for manager modes. I just like to pick teams and play ball. Overall I'm content with this years effort from 2K Sports. There's still work to be done but there on the right track.

I payed 5 bucks for this and thank god for that, since it seems to be unplayable, I own the 2k7 baseball and I like it better. The graphics are okay, but the gameplay and controller settings are horrible.

The controls is different from another MLB game; although, after time it kind of gets used to. The graphics are not up to date, but they are good. Overall this is a good game and I'm not sure I would recommend it.

None of the players look like they did in 2009, or ever for that matter. And the best game I've been able to play, I lost 3-0. They make you play on Pro or better for any progress, it isn't that I am bad at the game, it's just really really unrealistic. They successfully make catches 100% of the time on the ones that a real player would fail at 100% of the time, I find myself thinking "If this could really happen, then every player would qualify for Hall of Fame".

First off the many graphical glitches the demo had aren't present in the game. Kingdoms of Amalur is a good game. Its art style is similar to Fable with more of a deeper RPG feel. The game has everything needed to keep players busy for many hours. There are multiple side quests, several ways to build your character from mages to warriors and rogues. The real fun of this game is the battle system and many weapon types. The combat isn't boring like some games get. The games crafting and smithing system work well once you level them up. You only get one point at a time so you have to decide what area you are going to focus on. This means you won't be both a master smith and alchemist at least not early in the game. Your level in each area determines what items you find to use so it's a bit restrictive. The dialog system is odd as sometimes you get a dialog wheel and other times you get one word to click on. It works but doesn't feel quite like you're having a conversation. The characters I've encountered have more to say so you get some background on why you are doing the quest un like Skyrim where people just said hey go get this for me. I recommend the game because its battles are fun the story has some detail and you can play how you want. The developer claims there's over 200 hours of quests and I believe them since there are quests everywhere.

Update: You can redistribute your skills and change your character build for a reasonable fee. If you no longer want to be say a mage you can switch your skill set to something else. I am finding the merchants prices on items and to be a bit high on items though. Gold isn't made so quickly like some games so you need to spend carefully. The game has many spells you can learn but you can only map 4 at a time. It would have been nice if they made a way to map more spells for use.

Update: There's a lot of side-quests lore and collectables in the game. The main story is not its strongest point as most of what's going in the world is learned by exploring new areas and doing quests. You can't really power level to max all skills nor do you need to. The weapon smithing and gem crafting are fun when fully leveled up. My only 2 gripes with the game are its inventory system is severely limited for space and the menus are clunky to scroll through. The 4 spell limit is a bummer too because it forces you to really choose what spells you like. (The way both Dragon Age games used the R2 button to double scroll the buttons would have have really helped this game out.) I do really enjoy playing this game and recommend it to anyone who enjoys Rpgs.

Pros

Many ways to play the game mages warriors or stealth rogues

Play how you want...steel, sneak and many quests allow a peaceful or combative solution.

Detailed alchemy crafting and smithing systems

Fun battle system

Many side quests

Beautiful environments with a huge world to explore

Good story and voice acting.

100+ hours of play time

Doesn't lock up my PS3

Cons

Restrictive leveling only 1 point per level to spend on skills like smithing alchemy sneaking persuasion etc. It takes several points to max an area so you'll want to focus on being either a mage rogue or warrior. This can be changed for money but you still wont be able to max all skills until at very high levels

Some of the graphics on the characters look like they needed more polish

Sometimes the camera goes off into la la land in conversations.

Load times are around 20-30 seconds when entering buildings (it varies some go fast some are slow)

Some slowdowns with graphics engine when a lot is going on.

Camera can blind you at times in combat

I encountered a nasty glitch that made the whole TV screen twitch every 10 seconds and it would not go away until a previous save was loaded. My character got stuck in a spell cast mode during a battle so I lost a half hour of play time.

Only able to use 4 spells at a time

Some minor graphical hiccups occur in some spots

I play games for a variety of reasons. I play them to relax, to get lost in a world, to hear/play a good story, and I play them as a way to escape. This game fits the bill on all of those accounts perfectly. As a mature (read: over 30 years old) gamer, I have a different set of expectations that have grown and changes as I have gotten older.

This game first appeared on my radar as word of R.A. Salvatore being involved trickled out onto the web. I have played another game he was involved in, "Demon Stone" for the PS2. As with that iteration, this one is well writtenthe story takes the cake. Intrigue, plot twists, friends, foes, allies, and antagonists all take center stage in a tale that is fun and engaging here. The main quest is a good yarn in and of itself, but veering off the well beaten path takes you to other villages, characters, problems, and areas that you would just as easily miss if you don't look around. Superb writing, plotting, and setting. The story might seem kind of contrived and a mash up of genre staples...but Salvatore weaves it all together into something wonderful. I would have to say this game is like "playing" a very ambitious fantasy novel.

The combat is easy to master, but still presents a challenge as enemies scale to your level, the fighting can get intense, and there are several moves and tactics that unlock as you level up that make all the zipping around the screen fun and satisfying. The weapon and spell effts are nice, realized well, and graphically pleasing. Intense colors, good sound design, and a freedom of movement lends itself to combat that doesn't feel stale and challenges you to mix it up and see what happens. McFarlane's talent really shines through in the creature design and world art. From things that are creepy to sillythere a quite a few vistas, creatures, plants, and areas to look at. It is very pretty, vibrant, and busy. Other areas are appropriately dark, somber, and decayed. All in allthe game looks as good as it plays, and in may ways, the setting of Amalur is a character in and of itself.

Collectors of in-game stuff rejoice! As this game is packed with all you would come to expect from Rolstonthe mad genius behind some "Elder Scrolls" games. There are scraps of paper, books, lore stones, items, journals, lockpicks, chests, loot, and tomes to collect, read, and discover. The info is doled out well and comes at a pace that encourages exploration. There are several times (as I am not done with the game yet) where I have been distracted with a side quest just because I want to know more about what is happening in the world around me. It lends itself to a very fleshed out feeling, a world fully developed, alive, and teeming with secrets to discover. Again, this game is superb in its presentation on all of those accounts.

Getting down to the technical details, there are systems that feel familiar, yet lend their own flair to the game. Crafting, weapon/equipment repair, and reagent gathering are all things that have been done before. They are integrated well with this game and the feeling of familiarity is helpful at keeps the learning curve from getting too steep. There is not a physical manual included with the game...it is added to the disc. I don't find that I miss it, as info in pretty easy to come by and the interface is user-friendly and easy to navigate. Taking the best parts of past games, throwing in new ones, and whipping up a recipe for something new is a welcome addition to both the genre and the world of video games in general. I haven't experienced a single glitch, hitch, or mess-up with the game on my system. Load times are forgiveable and don't take foreverbut then again, with the amount of content and data I don't expect instant load times. The world is vast, expansive, and feels that way as well. With that, fast travel isn't a "must have" but is something that I use quite often, just to traverse the distances that soon become very apparent.

Others might say this game is too similar to "Fable" or some other megalithic MMO out there. While I see some of the similarities, I also see that 38 studios has crafted an entirely different, yet familiar feeling, monster. They have poured passion, heart, blood, sweat, and tears into this gameand it shows. Its massive, teeming with things to discover, and presented in a beautiful package. Combat, crafting, exploration, leveling, and play styles are all as fluid as you would wantthey (the devs) have really tried to make an expansive and all-inclusive gameand they have come as close to perfection as is possible at this point in my opinion.

Sobuy this game if you are looking for some amazing value for your dollars. Buy it if you want to see where I predict the next generations of RPG's will be going. Buy it if you want an awesome story, amazing playability, and some great art. Buy it if you are looking to really get into a game and not be finished in 10 hours. This is hands downone of the BEST games I have every played. Simply amazingworth every penny spent and then some.

Background:

For those that do not know, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a new intellectual property and is the first in what is hoped to be a new line of RPG games. The game was created by 38 games/Big Huge Games and published by EA. There are quite a few properties that are out there populating the field that it wants to become part of. This game has quite an all star group that have helped to create the game and I believe it has earned its place in the gaming world. Also, for a while there, the RPG field was bare and dry especially on the XBOX and so I welcome the change to explore a new and interesting world.

Todd McFarlane, the genius behind Spawn and other adult themed comics has provided inspiration for the artwork. The storyline was written by R.A. Salvatore who has published 20+ books in the field of Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Executive Director was Ken Rolston, the lead designer of the Elder Scrolls III Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion.

Graphics:

The graphics on this game are beautiful and colorful. Over the past few months I have finished playing Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Dark Souls and it is refreshing wandering a world that is bright and colorful. It reminds me of some portions of World of Warcraft such as the Blood Elves on the Horde side. You can see Todd McFarlanes influence on the art department in the multitude of characters you encounter.

Combat:

The trend for RPG's have aimed for the hybrid of Action-RPG with most falling on RPG elements and action as a second thought. This game has chosen to put Action in the forefront. The combat resembles the God of War: Collection series. When you are at a certain point, a lot of button mashing is required to score the kill and extra experience that comes from it. After the extreme difficulty of Dark Souls and continuous dying, it was nice to be able to enjoy combat that I felt I had an actual fighting chance of winning.

World:

The game originally was going to be an online MMO. You can sense that in the way that the world is created and interactions with the characters. It feels like an online MMO in a way but without the interaction of other players. The world is a liner sandbox world. It resembles somewhat a game such as Fable: The Lost Chapters or some of the Final Fantasy X games. There is a lot to explore in the world around you, though, so there is plenty to keep you busy.

Other:

Communication is a lot like Mass Effect where you rotate to the conversation choice. You can have negative or positive communications but I have not really seen many that affect the outcome or interaction with my character too terribly much. I may find more later on.

There is pre-order download content. I received the game in the morning. Unfortunately, the codes for the DLC (mainly items to help you start off with) did not arrive via email until around midnight which made their use moot.

Overall Impression:

I am an old school RPG player ever since I received my first free copy of Final Fantasy 1/Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest) with my paid subscription to Nintendo Power back in the day. The trend for RPG's has to continue to the action-RPG hybrid element which I feel it has successfully achieved. With todays world, simplicity is the key. The character creation and leveling I feel has been watered down. Not at the level that is the Fable series or other RPG's but it has been simplified. You really cannot go wrong in how you create your character and you can truly customize the character to your playing style. The bugs that were present in the demo have been cleaned up quite a bit although there are still technical issues here and there (not on the same level as the demo)

I highly recommend this game. There are simply not enough good RPG's out there even if the field seems to be filled with them. There are a lot of mediocre titles that dot the landscape in-between Elder Scroll and Final Fantasy releases. I believe this Game, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a worthwhile RPG to invest ones time and energy into and is a world that truly deserves to be lost in. I wish someone would re-visit Betrayal at Krondor (Enhanced CD-ROM)

I will now give the "PROS" and "CONS" of the game and even add a "MID" as in stuff I didn't hate but also didn't love, but you or others might feel different about it...

PROS:

A great free world to run around in

Has a lot of way you can play it as a Rogue, Warrior, Sorcerer or if you want to them all.

The game play is clean and controls well and easy get use too.

Has a lot of kinds of items, monsters, people and quests to do in the game.

you can make your own character from the ground up and fit the way you like to play him/her.

Creating items like Potions and equipment is the most fun I ever had in making items in a game.

MIDS:

The story in the game seems pretty good but nothing that'll keep you on the edge of your seat.

Graphics and sound are pretty good as well, but not jaw droping.

The game is pretty easy at first, but as you get deeper in the game it will start getting harder.

CONS:

I've had few problems with the Camera in the game here and there...

Lockpicking is WAY to "easy"

The sound in the game can sometimes can be late for when the sound was supposed to happen.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

{My Thoughts}

I'm really enjoying this game, there hasn't been a game like this to come out in a long time. If you ask me I think you should really give this game a try... it maybe not as big and pretty as a few other games that has came out, but I think this game is a gem of it's own and please reamember this is the first game that "38 studios" has ever came out with and I think they did great job and I'm looking forward to see what they will do next. :)

Thank you for reading, I hope it helped you and if you have any questions about the "Game" just ask. ^^

Skyrim was the first "real" RPG I have played in years and the first game I have ever played over 60+ hours. I played the original Paper Mario and even Super Mario RPG on the SNES. But I usually stuck to the likes of Diablo, Dungeon Siege and Action Games. I played Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2 a bit but not in depth.

I have to say that I feel this game is a great mix of Skyrim, God of war and Diablo.

Skyrim For the sheer size of the world. It may not be as "open" but it is still huge.

God of War For the combat. This what I liken it to not that the combat is on the same level as GOW, but that the animations and feel is.

Diablo For the sheer amount of loot that you find.

I have found I really enjoy the games graphics. They are not as detailed and real as Skyrim but they are amazing in a different way. I really liked Todd Mcfarlane's comics back in the day and I feel that some of his style has really rubbed off here.

Being about 10 hours into the game I find myself wanting to play it while I am at work and that has always been a key indicator if I really like a game.

Is it the best RPG ever, probably not, but I am having one heck of a time trying to find games (in my palette of games) that are as fun and with the amount of loot.

I can easily see myself playing this game for 70+ hours (that is where I was at with Skyrim).

I am not a hardcore gamer, but I love Soccer video games. When I was using my PS2 (stopped a couple of years ago), I bought into the hype of the Winning Eleven/PES series, and definitely enjoyed the games. Due to the conventional wisdom of the hardcore players out there, I avoided FIFA like the plague. Fast forward to now, and I have a PS3. I was itching to get a Soccer game, and figured I'd skip the '08 editions and wait for the '09 editions. FIFA '09 was released first instead of PES '09, so I jumped on it.

Not having played any recent-generation Soccer games, I can't quite compare it all that much to recent games, but I have been having a ball (no pun intended) playing FIFA '09. Gameplay probably isn't perfect, but it seems great to me. Everything is smooth, no choppiness, graphics are good, and it is simply a fun game to play. Passing, crossing, shooting, etc. are all pretty quick to get the hang of. Of course, I have a lot more work to do to get all of the gameplay down.

Frankly, I am in heaven having all of the big leagues and international teams, with the correct players, kits, etc. What I had to go through to get any level of team/player realism with Winning Eleven on the PS2... (we all know they don't have most of the licenses compared with the FIFA series). With FIFA '09, I can power up, choose Manchester United against AC Milan, and have Rooney, Ronaldo, etc. going up against Pirlo, Nesta, etc. with no issue. La Liga, Premiership, Serie A, and more. I love it.

There are a ton of advanced options and features that I won't go into such as seasons, online, etc., but if you have the time and passion for it, I am sure there is plenty to sink your teeth into with this game.

All in all, I am very pleased with FIFA '09, and have cancelled my preorder for PES '09 for the PS3. Good work EA Sports.

I've been playing FIFA since it first came out in the early '90's. Here in the states, FIFA was always the benchmark for football/soccer games, and it never let down because the games were great and had the whole football/soccer experience. The only or major gripe football/soccer diehards like me had was that you couldn't do player transfers. You had to wait until Pro Evolution Soccer/Winning Eleven came to the states. At around the same time that FIFA added the feature of being able to make player transfers, Winning Eleven/PES came to the states. FIFA was still great and maybe still the king, but now it had to compete and deal with the other big "player" in the football/soccer video games genre. FIFA put out some games that were just ok, missing a special something that I can't pinpoint while Winning Eleven/PES was putting out masterpieces until FIFA 2008 and PES 2008. With FIFA 2008, it seems FIFA was starting to get back on track and with 2009 it's back to its old self. I don't know what happened to PES 2008, but I guess they became complacent. PES 2008 was ok or maybe a little less than ok. Being used to Winning Eleven/PES high standards and works of art, I know a lot of us felt let down by PES 2008. FIFA 09 is a masterpiece while there's still room for some little improvement, but even the best video games, the ones that get perfect 10 or almost perfect reviews, have room for improvement. I haven't played every mode, yet, but be a pro and general manager modes are amazing. The way you can create a player and have him play for several seasons trying to accomplish some "goals" set by his team in order to be noticed and called by his national team and to be transfered to the big clubs in Europe is amazing. You can select a last name for your player that is in the data base of last names used by the commentators when calling a match. The graphics are outstanding. You can tell FIFA 2009 is a next generation/HD video game because of the graphics. Being a diehard football/soccer fan, I love both the FIFA and PES/Winning Eleven franchises, but I hope PES 2009 comes all out with all guns blazing because FIFA 2009 already did. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up!

FIFA '09 isn't a game of revolution but evolution. Anyone who played FIFA '08 will be right at home with the interface and graphics of the game but discover changes upon diving deeper into the game.

The graphics remain largely unchanged from FIFA '08. To it's discredit EA hasn't improved visuals in the stadiums and has neglected several larger venues altogether, instead opting for generic backgrounds. I was sorely disappointed to find when playing a huge rivalry match of Barcelona vs. Real Madrid at Camp Nou, the stadium was awash in generic colors. There was the odd red jersey here or there but nothing striking. Disappointing considering this was an issue raised by the fans in the last several FIFA games.

There are positive notes in the graphics department, however. First the "shiny" look of players from FIFA '08 is gone. Player animations have improved and are smoother. Also included for the first time is the ability to control player celebrations with some simple button presses after scoring a goal. Cartwheels, running slides, and more subtle celebrations help immerse the player into the game.

On the gameplay front things are much better. Ball physics are greatly improved over '08 and the ball doesn't feel as magnetic as it once did. To EA's credit the controls are completely customizable so everyone can tune the buttons to their individual preference. I did notice some that on the higher difficulty levels the game can still cheaply score or miraculously tackle the ball every time.

As usual the soundtrack to FIFA offers a unique, wide ranging sampling of music from different corners of the planet. It's always enjoyable discovering new artists first in FIFA and adding their tracks to my iPod. The crowd sound effects remain largely unchanged from '08 which isn't a bad thing. Commentary maintains its high standard as well.

Best of all in '09 is the ability to really manage your team in detail. On the field tactics adjustments are back and don't require a pause in the action. Off the field, fine tuning adjustments can be made to everyone from the build-up to player aggression on offense and defense. It's really a whole new level of player control to FIFA. Another great feature is that fine tuning adjustments can be saved and applied to specific teams. So if you're playing an offensive powerhouse you can load up your more defensive minded tactics and presto, you're set to play!

All in all I am very pleased with FIFA '09. As I stated it's not a revolutionary change from FIFA's past but an incremental improvement. Now if EA would just up the ante on the stadium and crowd effects we'd have a real champ here.

I've been playing FIFA since the mid-90s and this is probably the best edition yet that EA has come out with. Compared to last year's PS3 version, this game has much better gameplay and graphics, especially when it comes to the players. What truly sets 09 apart from previous editions is that the gameplay is much more realistic (including the ball physics)and the passing system is soooooo much better than 08. I was really frustrated by 08's passing, but 09 is great. It takes some practice, but you can really weave together some great passes, little deft touches, one-twos, etc. I also am a really big fan of the custom tactics as well. My favorite team is Inter and I went in and tweaked their formation and tactics and I could really tell a difference. You can play several different variations to keep things fresh. I also like the fact you can edit individual players and their roles within the formation. That was something I had really been hoping EA would add. Kudos to EA for some of the new wrinkles they added and, of course, having all the players and leagues is always great too. Oh, and the soundtrack is great as always.

The only negatives I can come up with is they could stand to add a few more stadiums, there are still some unrealistic aspects that need to be worked out (for instance, defenders being just as quick as attackers), and the graphics for the crowd are pretty subpar. Beyond that, a really great game. I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far and haven't even gotten completely immersed yet.

Want FIFA Soccer 09 Discount?

I am an experinced FIFA 08 player. I have played 09 for 2 weeks now. Unlike most of the reviewers that liked the game, I hated it. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Here are the reasons:

1. More than 50% of the attacks end up with an offside flag. Are there any teams in the real world that use offside trap so effectively? In FIFA 09 all of them can.

2. It is almost impossible to pass a defending player with the ball. All defences are overrated. Meanwhile if you are C. Ronaldo and if you can avoid getting close to the defender you can basically outrun all defences while you are dribbling. OK this guy is good but come on. All Barcelona defenders end up 4 meters behind him while he is running with the ball???

3. The right stick you use for the first touch pushes the ball at least 1 mt away from you. So basically you can not use it like you use it in FIFA 08.

4. It is easier to score with long distance shots which is fine but seems much harder to score with free kicks and corners. I belive FIFA 08 was more realistic in that sense.

5. The graphics are great. But mandatory replays make it a more boring game.

6. While playing you get a feeling like the ball always slides on the pitch as if there is a thin layer of ice on the surface. And ball control is much harder than 08.

7. While you are controlling a player, the other players are too static. For example, Eto is with the ball and Henry and Messi are basically waiting somewhere within the defence. No runs etc.

8. I can not find out how to touch the ball while it passes so close to one of my players that I am not controlling at the time being.

Basically all controls are the same with FIFA 08, but dont let this fool you. The game experience is totally different. And interestingly FIFA 08 experience may be an advantage in certain situations but in many other positions it is a disadvantage. Because defenders will get the ball from you in 90% of the cases that you would be able to pass them in FIFA 08.

I do not want to judge too quickly but if there is something I am missing with controls, tricks etc please let me know.

Things to like-

Price. This game is selling for around $30 which is a great value.

Game play. True that the default game speed is way too slow out of the box, but this is easily corrected by modifying the game sliders. I've adjusted my slider all the way to 100% for game speed and I like it. Adjusting all the different sliders through trial and error is all part of the learning curve, but once your sliders are set up right the game play is really fluid and enjoyable. Using a quick passing game and head-manning the puck to the next guy just before the blue-line is key to keep your team on-side and moving forward into the offensive zone. Cycling the puck in the corner works well and it's a challenge to maneuver your players at times as they will get bumped around and lose their balance at times. Anticipating movement is key.

Hip checks. If you hold down the O button just long enough while you swing your man into position you can send your opponent flying with a devastating hip check. Body checks are executed easily and with great punishment. By setting your sliders just right you can play a really physical style of play without getting called for all of those pesky interference calls.

Things to be not so happy about-

Fighting. The mechanics of fighting in this game are too elaborate. Somehow the user is expected to look at the bottom of the screen to monitor his player's balance meter and press the right amount of L2 and R2 buttons to keep the fighter standing, but while you're focusing on the balance meter you're not really able to concentrate on the actual fight and press X or O for punches at the right time. I've fought about 10 times so far and still haven't come close to keeping my balance or winning a fight. Maybe after more fights I'll figure out some secret sequence of button mashing that'll work but for now I just choose to avoid fighting altogether because its just not fun. It appears the developer outsmarted itself by trying to add the element of balance to fighting. While this is key in real life on-ice scraps, it really didn't need to be added into the game's fighting mechanic.

Level of detail. No hats are thrown on the ice after hat tricks, whether you're at home or on the road; this aspect has been a tradition forever and it's pretty unforgivable for the game not to have hat trick celebrations. The 2K beats soundtrack is lacking, it would be nice to have a lot more music. The arena music during stoppages in play could be more elaborate by copying the signature songs and chants from the various NHL arenas...noticeably missing for example is DJ Jean's "Launch" techno beat that's heard at Capitals home games or the Fratellis "Chelsea Dagger" tune that's always played in Chicago when the Blackhawks score or the "Daaay-ohhh" crowd chant heard at all arenas. These may seem like minor annoyances but if the game developer would have just spent a week watching the NHL Centre Ice package they could have added the unique music being played at all the different arenas into this game to bring a much higher level of realism. Also, there isn't any in-game recognition of major milestones. For example, using Sidney Crosby I broke Gretzky's single season scoring record but when I scored the record breaking 93rd goal no mention was made and the only way to know when a record is broken is to go menu surfing to look at the records.

No matter how good your goalie is, the CPU will find a way to beat him with a wrist shot from a horrible angle at least once almost every game.

MISC. NOTES

Shot aiming. Sometimes the puck will seem to go right where you're aiming and other times you'll still score but it won't go anywhere close to where you were aiming. Maybe this is the AI correcting your shot when using sliders that max your accuracy.

One-timers. Despite what other reviewers have stated, One-timers don't go in every time. One-timers can be very effective depending on the flow of the game. There are definite momentum shifts for no apparent reason during the game (none after fighting ironically) and the CPU goalie will have his moments when he will be a brick wall and stop 5 one-timers in a row and then maybe in the next period you're able to score on 3 consecutive one-timers. Sometimes you'll have a wide open guy set up for a one-timer and he'll actually whiff on the shot altogether, which is realistic. Also, depending on which team you're playing against and their defensive style, the defense may stifle your wingers before they're able to penetrate deep enough into the offensive zone to dish back a one-timer. I've played several teams (NJ Devils for example) that have really limited my one-timer opportunities and can remember a couple games that I only got 1 or 2 one-timer chances during the whole game.

With the exception of one-timer slap shots, the wrist shot is primarily the shot you'll be successful with. The reason is that time & space is a premium just like in the real NHL. The time and space it takes to wind-up for a big slapper is hard to find and many times your player will get checked and lose the puck before he's able to get a slap shot off. The best times for a slap shot are on the power play and I've scored a couple times with blasts from the point on the power play, but not very often.

Face-offs. Using the right stick on the controller, either hold the stick up or hold it down. As soon as you see the ref start to flick his wrist to drop the puck, then you quickly pull the right stick down or push it up. This will pull the puck back to your left D or your right D. Winning face-offs is challenging and it's a victory to be able to win 50% of the game's face-offs. The trick is timing your right stick up/down movement as soon as the ref moves his hand. After playing almost a full season I'm able to just about break even with the CPU on the face-offs. Some players attributes limit them from being great at face-offs, but if you time it just right you can still win a few.

Hits after the whistle. Making up for the big disappointment that is the fighting experience in this game, at least you can level your opponent after the whistle blows. There's about a 2 second window for you to pull this off after a whistle is blown. It's a nice feeling to plow a defender into his goalie after the goalie freezes the puck. Being able to abuse your opponent on demand like this is a nice outlet to channel any frustration since you most likely won't be able to win any fights.

When line changes are made "on-the-fly" during game play, an annoying graphic pop-up will display in the corners of your TV screen and sometimes this will hinder your view of play along the boards...this actually cost me a goal one time when I couldn't see the puck in my zone on the boards and the CPU took it, made a quick pass and beat my goalie from a crappy corner angle.

All in all I have fun playing this game despite some of its shortcomings. It's definitely not perfect, but it's fun to play. Scoring on break-aways with either a quick wrister or a custom deke move can be exciting and bringing the pain with bone-crushing checks always brings a smile. My sliders are set to give me a decent advantage over the CPU, and I've had quite a few blowouts playing with the defending Stanley Cup Champ Penguins, but even still the CPU has been able to beat me twice and come close quite a few other times...so the AI works well to make it a challenging game. The main reason I chose 2K over EA sports NHL10 was all of the feedback regarding that game freezing. After almost a full season 2K10 hasn't froze once. Good game, 4 out of 5 stars.

Forget what some people may say about this game and see for yourself. The only way to see if you like it is to play it. I myself have purchased EA'S hockey game for the past two seasons. But what held me back from buying EA'S game again this year was i feared it might just be the same game as last year with very few improvements and i was right Nhl 10 is bascially just a roster update for NHL '09. On the other hand NHL 2k9 was terrible and this years version is much much better. Nhl 2k10 delievers a slighty more realistict expierence. Yes the commentating is pretty bland and the Goalie masks are ugly but the player models move just as their real life counterparts do and the graphics at first take some getting used to but they grow on you. Espesically the NHL arenas and player faces. The Staples Center in L.A. has all the Banners of the Lakers retired numbers including Chick Hearns retired microphone jersey. They also put the Kings Conference Banners(the few they have)also they even added Penny Tollier retired L.A. Sparks jersey. When you first play the game you may not like it but once you get used to the controls and game physics you will love it as i do. Just give the game a chance for at least a week if you dont like it trade for something else that was what i was planning on doing but now im keeping NHL 2K10 for good.

Despite being nearly two years old, NHL 2K10 is still the best hockey game on the PlayStation 3 and here's why...

1)This game easily has the best presentation and commentary ever on the PS3. The broadcast presentations and effects really feel like you're watching a top level production team broadcast the game over the airwaves. It's certainly as good as the Versus/NBC quality in real life. On the other hand, NHL 10 and 11 by EA seemed dead in comparison. The commentators parrot the same lines every year, literally, and there's no practical way to review the highlights of each game.

2)More ways to score. 2K10 allows scoring off rebounds, breakaways and one timers as well as broken plays and lucky bounces. NHL 10 and 11 are purely formulaic scoring games. Do X, Y and Z, you'll score every single time. This just kills the replay value. However with this game, you really don't know how you're going to score before the puck drops. The time tested ideas of crashing the net and the other things I mentioned above still work, but the game forces you to be more creative and the result is more fun to me.

3)Customizable settings. I have to admit that the default settings for this game stunk, everything felt wrong. However as soon as I changed the sliders, it was a quick return to the game I knew and loved in year's past. I essentially turn speed burst off and bump speed/acceleration up to around 70. EA has never really bothered to offer this on the PS3. They figure you'll like what they give you.

4)Interaction. Even two years later, you can download roster updates and game fixes through the game itself, without ever having to use an annoying flash drive. This feature is called "2K Share" and works brilliantly. You can even upload your own game files, etc for others to use.

5)The skating is far better than NHL 10 or 11. The players often feel like they're really skating instead of jogging through sand. It's really noticeable when you execute a full crossover with your player. In this game, you feel it and know what you're doing, not so with the other guy's game.

6)The franchise mode allows you to simulate far faster. One season took me an hour plus on NHL 10 or 11 but only takes 10 or so minutes with 2K10.

7)The puck is realistic, it doesn't whiz and bang all over the place like it's a pinball. The player contact animations are better too. You don't get thrown across the ice every time you get bumped.

Now there are some cons to this game, but they fall short of being significant enough to make me stop playing. Let's investigate further...

1)There's occasionally a half second or so delay when you attempt to shoot or get knocked down. It can be a hassle at times because you may miss a critical chance due to the half second you just lost. This happens with NHL 10 and 11 as well but not as often.

2)The graphics are a letdown. The overview of the ice and crowd is fine but the player's faces and crowd detail is simply awful. EA is way better in this department. Get it fixed.

3)No AHL etc licenses and a lack of minor league players as a result. This really hurts depth in the franchise mode. EA snatched up the exclusive license, so 2K wasn't really directly at fault here.

4)Passing is overly simplistic. Every pass seems to go the same speed and is difficult to aim between players. The manual passing in NHL 11 is too difficult/complex but this method is too easy and basic.

5)No Be-A-Pro game mode. This is something I would really miss but if I want it, I can pop in NHL 10 or 11. The franchise mode is usually plenty to keep me busy though.

All in all, 2K10 feels like a much more organic game of hockey and is every bit as good in franchise mode as it's main rival. With an upgrade on graphics and a few small improvements here and there, this game would be the runaway winner in the PS3 hockey war. It's certainly worth $15 used.

This is my first PS3 hockey game, having played this series of 2K Sports games on the PS2 for years before. NHL 2K10 looks great! The pre-game cinematics and look of the crowd is convincing. Shadows and blade trails on the ice are excellent and the lighting is impressive. The arena music is nothing to gush over, but it works for the setting. Overall, it's really a slick presentation that draws you in for a game and sets your expectations high.

Unfortunately, this game doesn't deliver in every area. I'm not saying it's all bad news. The action flows smoothly, with nice passing and shooting. Skirmishes behind the net and throughout the defensive zone are fun. But there are still some serious flaws in this game. First game out was coop with a friend and we were both beating each other down instead of the opponent. We thought this was just a matter of experience and tightening up our game. But we've been playing this series coop for years now and never had this issue come up before. We tried to turn "friendly fire" either off or at least down a bit, but could find no setting to control this. So there we were ten games in, still rolling over each other. Skating across the ice to check an opponent and then elbowing my friend instead when he skates in to help out?! Yeah...that's realistic. I could maybe see it happening once in a while as an accident, but we've been in games where it happened 5-10 times.

Of course, the referees still get in your way...now more than ever. It's like they go out of their way to interrupt traffic and cause pileups. Ridiculous!

We've read through the controls a couple of times and it still seems that we're tripping players up when we intend to check them instead. The controls are sensitive in all the wrong ways, favoring mistakes that will result in a more than a few penalties. We've even turned penalties down in the options screen, but still we're playing the majority of each game with one or two in the box.

Commentary is cheesy as always, but not really all that bad. There are also some graphics glitches every so often, but also nothing to worry too much about.

To sum up, I feel that NHL 2K10 is a mixed bag of good and bad. For next year, I do hope they take a closer look at friendly fire incidents, as this is one of our biggest complaints. But it's still a playable game with some enjoyable hockey action to be found.

Just orderd this item (energizer power & play for Ps3) and it works great charges quickly looks sleek and very sharp, but it is a lil light weight but it serves its purpose and is fairly sturdy. The one issue that i had was after you connected controller light is red during the charge stage, when charge is complete it than turns greeni could find no info about whether or not i could leave controllers on charging unit-would it continue to charge and burn the controller down over time(afer doing my due dillegence and thorough research) the answer is no--once controller is fully charged the light will turn green at that point there is no need to disconect power because that channel stop producing chargeone would think otherwise seeing the green light but this unit in fact stops the process doing no harm to controller so leave it on all day it wont ruin controller--figured this might help--

I read some mixed reviews about the Pelican version of this exact same product and did not want to buy one of their units. I then saw that Energizer has the EXACT SAME product but with their name and warranty attached to it. That made me feel perfectly comfortable and I ended up buying one. It's been really good so far. I am able to plug the controllers in easy with one hand now so it's not as bad as I thought it would be. The lights are not as bright as other units but are still a tad too bright for my home theater room. I have to put this out of site so the lights don't distract me during movies.

No problems so far and a very nice design makes this a 5 star product for me.

This is an incredible product. Looks very slick, really matches the black-and-silver of the PS3. The clear controller charge indicators are also very nice-looking. You can charge 2 controllers in the slots, and there are also 2 powered USB slots for the charging cables. You can use these to charge the PS3 official headset (or any other USB devices). The controller ports are standard Mini-USB connections. They have a clear bit of plastic on top that holds the controller. It lights up dimly red when charging and green when finished -this looks really cool.

Overall, this is an extremely good-looking, stylish, and useful accessory for charging your PS3 peripherals. Really fits the style and look of the PS3, and also has convenient USB slots and charging-indicator lights. Highly recommended.

I received this PS3 Controller earlier in the week. It was easy to set up, all I had to do was take it out of the box and plug it into my power conditioner (surge protector). The controllers fit perfectly into the holders even with the controller skins intact.

The light turns red when charging and changes to green once the controllers are fully charged. I haven't used the side USB ports yet but I am sure they also work fine.

I would recommend this product to those who hate turning on the PS3 controller just to charge their controllers and those who want a cool looking stand.

This is a sleek looking device with the added convenience of USB ports on the side, so charging extra controllers is easy if you can put up with the wires. Mine worked great with only the standard complaints about the difficulty in adding and removing the controllers from the docks and the "lightness" of its construction. Once in they worked, but I found with mine that, over time, I believe they became worn to the point where it will no longer charge the controllers. For a while I could wiggle the controllers and coax the lights back on, but I can only assume that the wear and tear of two children plugging the units in about once a day took its toll (though they were actually careful with it). At least the two USB side ports still work.

I refuse to spend another almost $30 on a replacement, so I am going to give the Nyko Charge Base 2 a try....

Update: After a couple months of comparison the Nyko is superior to the Energizer unit in my opinion. Though perhaps not as stylish, it is more durable, does not need to be held to stay in place and, functionally, is a better option, especially if you have kids or dock and undock the controllers frequently. See my review of the Nyko

If you are into trading card games like Magic: The Gathering, or other TCG's then this game is for you! It came out early in the PS3 life cycle and was unfortunately passed over by most. The basic gist of the game is you use your monsters to take control of the majority of the 3x3 board. Each square has a different element that can either help or hinder or outright destroy your monster (if it's a opposing element to the type of monster you summon onto it.) You then defend each square with your spells and use your monsters to attack other squares to hopefully gain the advantage. The gimmick of the game is that the monsters and the battles are all played out on the screen via the PlayStation Eye camera. Each card has specific markings on it so the camera knows what it's looking at. The added visualizations on the screen are really cool! Though if you want to speed up game play the length of animations can be turned down to your liking or turned off completely. As of now the multiplayer servers have been shut off, but the game is still fun to play locally with friends. The cards aren't sold in stores anymore either but can easily be found on eBay or Amazon.com, and for the most part they aren't overly expensive either. I only own 5 of the pre-built theme decks that I scored off of Amazon.com from anywhere between $9.99 and $11.99. Not to bad. In closing I have a lot of fun with this game that is fairly cheap to get into. It's great fun to have people over and play.

I have wanted to get my hands on this game ever since I heard about it, back in 2006. Alas, I was in the U.S.M.C and was too busy to really play video games. Once my schedule became a little more open I ended up buying an Xbox 360 because all of my friends had one. Only now do I have a PS3 and honestly I am happy to have this game. It is amazing. After updating to the latest version of the game, 3.0, I sat down and jumped right in. The mat is actually cloth so there were some issues with the creases making hills and giving the PS Eye as hard time of reading the cards but I ironed that problem right out and now I can say that I play the game with little to no hitches. Te animations are crisp and really cool, the sound and music is pretty sick, (a little to heavy metal for my taste), and the cards are cool. The game has a steep learning curve but once you break through that barrier it is quite complex and intuitive.

I recently got my PS3 and due to some space issues in my room, I had to go vertical. Not wanting to put the PS3 directly on the floor I did a search on Amazon and found this and others. This particular model, like others, has a very cool blue LED that lights up the perimeter of the base giving the PS3 a very cool look, especially at night. It securely fits the PS3 and when you try to move it, the entire unit stays in one place. You just have to make sure that you put the PS3 in there correctly (It's easy) and you have nothing to worry about. Add to all of this, you can choose whether or not you want to have the light on or whether you want to plug this unit into one of the PS3's USB hubs. If you do plug it into a hub, the unit gives you two extra hubs in its back since you are taking up one of the PS3's hubs. You shouldn't have to worry about this thing using too much power because it doesn't...and again, you don't have to plug it into the PS3. Other than that, this product should be licensed by Sony because of how flush it looks with the PS3. As a person who does not like to buy 3rd party accessories, this comes HIGHLY recommended if you need to go vertical. Buy with confidence.

The main reason why I bought this stand is because my version of the PS3 has two USB ports, but I needed three for Rockband and I didn't want it to look cluttered by just sticking an unsightly hub up to my PS3, and this was the perfect fix! It allows an additional USB port, leaving one in the front and two in the back. It's the same color as your PS3 with a illuminating blue bar near the bottom which matches perfect with my 750 GB AccomData External Harddrive which has an exact light. Alot of people my find the light annoying if you leave your PS3 on but fortunately for you people there is a button to turn the light off if you so choose. The stand provides the stability you would expect from any stand. Would buy from this company again (come on matching remote charger!)

I had doubts about standing my expensive PS3 vertically. I had previously owned a different stand, but not was it ugly, it would not allow the door on the PS3 to open.

This one adds the stability that I was looking for, but also lets me have access to the door, as well as adding a very cool blue glow to the unit!

If this item becomes available again, you will find it worth it to get it!

A little disappointed in this control. It does not work as well as the PS3 controllers. It's wireless which is great but you have to be fairly close to use.

Alright Controller, all the buttons are fine, the D-PAD has a big problem with the left and down sections wehre you have to PRESS them down. You can't just tap them like the Up and Right to get input. The "turbo" is more of a semi-turbo, I tried it on MK9's test your might and it doesn't max out. So it'd say Semi-Turbo. The triggers and bumpers are a little stiff, and the analogs feel easy to slip off (matte finish) but all around easy installation and good size. I mean there are much worse 3rd Party controllers, but if you really can't spend the extra 35 for a true controller, this will do.

Also a great choice fi you have little kids who you know ill break your controllers if you're mom/dad etc.

The skin is a flawless fit for the standard Rock Band 2 Stratocaster Guitar and it looks sharp.

My only complaint is that eliminating air bubbles is near impossible, but we were able to get rid of most of them through a combination of careful placement, pushing bubbles out to the edge, and the use of a hair dryer (be careful not too hot, not too close!) to smooth out the surface.

Apart from that, this is a relatively inexpensive way to personalize your guitar.

I just picked up the game a little while ago so these are just my first impressions. I'm not going to discuss in depth gameplay or graphics; these things have been covered to death in the past couple of months. So to get it out of the way, it's a great game, especially if you're a batman fan and it looks great on the PS3.

The meat of this review will be focusing on the collector's edition and it's contents.

First off, the box for it is huge! Not obnoxiously huge, but substantial. The case that holds everything is a nice plastic batarang shape with sturdy feeling hinges. They did a good job there. Inside foam pieces keep everything from moving around.

As stated on the message boards, the batarang is in fact plastic and it is attached to the stand, though it doesn't look like it would take much effort to detach it. It looks like there's just a small tab holding it in. I would have been much happier with a metal version, even if it drove the cost up a bit. Also of note, the batarang (at least the one I got) has what appear to scratches all over it. I'm not sure if this is normal, but this is how mine showed up. I'd be interested in hearing how others' batarangs are condition-wise. Also, I was under the impression it was a gray color. It's actually black.

The leather bound book is decent in quality but the pictures make it look more substantial than it actually is. It's actually quite thin. The book inside is nice though, with matte pages and lots of pictures. Great for reading up on arkham's finest criminals.

As for the game package, they really dropped the ball on this one. I was expecting a nice case, like those that come with metroid prime trilogy or resident evil 5. Not so, you get a cheap looking and feeling cardboard outer sleeve and inner sleeve that holds the game and bonus DVD. Again, I'd have gladly paid more for a metal case. Or even just the regular game case with a slip case for the DVD, like the fallout 3 collector's edition. Being a collector in the truest sense, I removed the DVD and game and put them in standard ps3 cases and put the cardboard case back in the box to prevent any damage to it. Cardboard cases for games are extremely primitive in my opinion. They show wear way to easily.

The discs themselves are also non-standard in that they both look like old film reels and are labeled as disc one and two. Again, give me the retail game and the bonus DVD separate. I might just pick up the retail game later on and put the collector's edition back in the box.

All in all, I love the game but feel iffy about the collector's edition contents. If they would have just included the retail game and not the cheap cardboard box and colorless discs I'd probably have been satisfied. As it is now, I don't regret the purchase at all, I just feel a bit let down by the contents. It'll bug me until I buy the retail version of the game and I know it's just more money thrown at the game but I'm extremely anal about keeping my collectibles in pristine condition.

So my verdict:

The game gets a 5/5. It's a great game and even more so if you're a batman fan.

The collector's edition content gets a 3/5 for being average. The game's packaging is what really let me down here.

So the average is 4 stars and my score overall. If I were reviewing just the game it would get 5 stars.

I know this title is pretty much a spin-off of the other review. I just think the differentiation in the gravity of the terms used had to be done. In all fairness, all that you may or may not have read about the game is true: it's an overall excellent gaming experience, a lot of fun and very satisfying for different types of gamers (there's a lot of good fighting, lot's of exploration, trophies and treasures, upgrades which resemble a bit of an RPG customization system, etc.). Even if you are not a big fan of the Batman, if you like video games, you will like this one, and if you ARE a Batman fan, then you will be glad to finally see a well achieved translation from the complex comic book character to a video game (and not a sad Final Fight rip-off where Cody is replaced by Batman[sorry for the retro reference, young readers]). If there were more than five stars to rate this game's fun factor, I'd give'em to it! Now, I will give a detailed comment on each extra item contained in this set in the following paragraphs, but if you don't want to read the whole thing, you can skip directly to the conclusion in the last paragraph.

Now, the sad truth: I purchased the Collector's Edition as an enthusiast of the Batman. However, here in Mexico the normal edition of the game sells for US$69.00, whereas the Collector's Edition sells for a good US$125.00, which is, to me and most non-Donald-Trump-related buyers, a significant difference, which made me look closely into the differences between one edition and the other, in order to determine if the price difference corresponded to the product's value. As a regular Amazon customer, I decided to check here first, and I am sad to say, for the first time, I was mislead by good ol' Amazon =( You see, in the Collector's Edition Page at Amazon, the "Joker Action Maps DLC" is listed under the "PlayStation 3 Batman: Arkham Asylum Collector's Edition Bonus Items Include" list, and upon seeing that, I decided that the Collector's Edition was, by all means, the way to go! However, I was sad to find out TODAY that the Joker's additional content is NOT exclusive to the Collector's Edition, but to the PS3, so either edition of the game will give you access to such additional material!! Now, since my main reason to purchase this edition of the game had been absolutely shattered, below you will find my comments on the rest of this edition's contents, and why they are not even close to a justification of the price difference between the Normal Edition and the Collector's Edition.

As I eagerly unpacked my Collector's edition on Tuesday in my car (Yes, I'm sad to admit I am like a five-year-old when it comes to video games and self control), I was truly disappointed when I saw the Batarang, which is made out of VERY low quality plastic, and looks like it was hand made by yet another five-year-old! Even Fallout 3's Bobble Head figure was of a much better quality (and this is NOT to be interpreted as if said Bobble Head was a quality item either)! You can even see unpolished marks of the cutting tools and sandpaper used in (what I would have thought) was the pre-finish phase in the production of this item. If it at least made it look like a battle worn item, I might be inclined to roll with it and be more lenient in this review, but it really isn't. It just looks and feels like a very, VERY low quality product.

As regards the little "Dr's Journal" accompanying this set, I must start by saying that I have always been a big fan of this kind of extras! To follow on the previous paragraph's reference, I totally loved the Fallout 3 Art Booklet contained in the Collector's Edition, and it actually (along with the "Making Of" Bluray in that kit) washed the bad taste of the badly painted, badly finished Bobble Head off of my mouth (figuratively speaking, of course ;-) Kids, don't put things in your mouth that don't belong there!). However, in this case, although the "Bios" of the characters presented in the Journal are interesting and nicely presented in the form of an Arkham's Dr. point of view, they were all rather short for me, and the fact that they used the exact same illustrations as in the Bios you get to unlock during the game was a true disappointment. Honestly, if the Journal is one of the items that are supposed to provide additional value to the set, at least they could have used other drawings, even from the preparatory stages of the game (as is the case in Fallout 3's Booklet), and not repeat what we already got in the game. This just gives the impression of an abusive and greedy company behind all this, and this is definitely not the impression I want to have when spending over a hundred bucks in anything.

The extra DVD is good if you enjoy (like myself) learning about the work behind the creation of a good game, and seeing how an idea becomes a very good game (which is something we rarely think about as end consumers of all kinds of products in general). However, despite the valuable information contained in this Bluray, again, it hardly suffices to justify such a huge price difference between Collector's Edition and the game alone.

Lastly, the usually overlooked container: The whole thing comes inside a rather large batarang-shaped case, which lid is kept close by little magnets. To be quite honest, I was more inclined to setting this as decoration in my room than the bloody batarang thingy. This may also serve a purpose as a container for whatever it is you like to keep in a container (wouldn't pass as a fresh enough cookie jar, though), but still, it is nothing but a glorified tupper-ware-like item which must have cost less than a Dollar to make. As a marginal note, I must also say I didn't like the fact that the game disc comes in a less-durable, carton sleeve along with the referred DVD, instead of its usual, plastic PS3 case.

So, in Conclusion: Although the game is a Must-Have, the Collector's Edition is a true disappointment, which is not worth the extra money; not even if you are a big fan of the Batman (the contents don't amount to valuable collectibles), nor if you have loads of extra cash to spend (you probably became opulent by spending your money in an intelligent fashion, and this is most certainly not one). As I have tried to establish in this review, I am an enthusiast of this kind of thing, and actually proud to say that I always make good research before purchasing anything (will be more careful when reading Amazon Product Features from now on ;-). This reviews have helped in the past in such research, and I hope this will help you too. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT GAME, BUT THE COLLECTOR'S EDITION IS NOT WORTH A SINGLE EXTRA PENNY! Get the normal edition Batman: Arkham Asylum, get your extra downloadable content for free in the PlayStationStore and use your extra money to buy another game (for instance, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Greatest Hits edition is finally out, and for less than the extra $47 Dollars you'd pay for this, and is also a Must-Have game in my list ;-).

The video shows the unboxing of the PS3 Collectors Edition of Batman Arkham Asylum.

My review. I have completed the game with one play through and am happy to say it's without doubt the Best Batman game ever made!!! It even got into the Guinness book of world records for crying out loud!!!

"Guinness announced this morning Batman: Arkham Asylum has become 'Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever' due to its average Metacritic score of 91.67, surpassing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for Dreamcast which averaged a score of 90."

"We are so pleased to be awarding Batman: Arkham Asylum a Guinness World Record," said Gaz Deaves, Manager at Guinness. "It is a fantastic new game and due to the reaction of gaming experts we believe it has a well deserved place in the Guinness World Records book!"

Gameplay 5/5

The gameplay is smooth and very responsive, whether your beating the crap out of groups of villains or swinging across the room undetected, it just feels like you are Batman! The gadgets add more in-depth gameplay allowing for some unique combos, takedowns and much more! The best and most often used tool in Batman's arsenal is not actually a gadget but a mode called Detectivemode which allows Batman to view the world of Arkham in a whole new way! You can view henchmen's weapons, pulses and view if they are a bigger threat than some of the other inmates, allowing for strategic planning for taking out the heavy hitter's first! The detective mode also allows you to scan the area for potential clues that will lead you to a hostage or villain (depending on the situation)and also scan for The Riddler's infamous Riddles!

Graphics 5/5

The look and presentation of this game is outstanding. Not only did they nail the beefy and serious look for our masked hero but they did a great job on the devious Joker and the overall landscape of Arkham! The other character's in the game are amazing! They're detailed and put into well thought out sketches that resemble ,that of which they came from, the animated cartoon series! When your walking, gliding or fighting in or outside of Arkham you'll notice that the environment changes! It's as if they planned ahead to make sure your not seeing the same old walls or floors every minute.....it's very detailed and I love it!!

Story 5/5

If you have played the demo (if you haven't I'd recommend you do it's very good!) then you pretty much know the idea or plot of the game. Batman captures Joker with ease so Batman is suspicious and Joker breaks loose and takes over the Asylum using all the demented inmates and villains inside to assault Batman with deadly force!! I've seen so many villains it's mind boggling! It's so great to see where they are heading with this and they put huge efforts into thinking like Batman to get it right and from what I've played so far they've nailed it!!!

Overall 5/5 Perfect Score

I just finished the game and am very pleased with the game! The Beginning, Climax and Ending were superb and I don't want to spoil anything for you but.....you'll love how it ends!! I was so excited when I heard Kevin Conroy (the voice of Batman) and Mark Hamill (the voice of Joker) were coming back to reprise their roles from the old cartoon series which I am a huge fan off!! Thanks for watching and reading my review hope it helps and please comment!

Have a great day!!!

Overall, I love the game, and the collector's edition packaging is great. My only problem is the "Batarang" that came with it. from the picture in the description it looks metal, and nothing is said to determine otherwise; especially with the price being what it is. It's plastic, it's has scratches on it, and it just looks cheap. I Know the game costs $60, the book is probably worth [....] there is no way that that Batarang is close to $10 to make up the difference. Overall the collector's edition bundle is kinda lackluster at best. :-/

Buy the regular edition of the game. The game itself is phenomenal.

This collectors edition is not worth the extra money for a crappy plastic batarang.

These silicone covers fit better than the PS3 ones we bought when we bought our system. They are not as loose, so it's like holding a controller again, instead of a rubbery shell with a controller slipping around inside. "Anti-slip" refers to tiny bumps on the handle area. At first I thought they would be annoying, but when playing, I don't even notice them. The cover in no way hinders play or recharging on a station. Do they glow? Yeah, they have a soft glow that lasts for awhile. I would liken it more to a flashlight-under-a-blanket glow than a glow-in-the-dark-t-shirt glow. But keep in mind, mine don't get charged by light very often. All that said, when I do see them glow, it makes me happy.

Put it on a white controller... it's super bright! I've had it for over a year now, and I still love it: so fun, and great grip! Can't lose it if you turn out the lights!

Unless these come in a million pieces or have major damages, they work as expected. I prefer these rubber covers on my controllers. They do a good job of protecting them from kids. They also provide a solid grip.

The glow won't last long though. They are good if playing in a dark room, so that you do not have to turn the lights on to find your controller, if you leave to get a drink or something. Plus people might step on them.
