Very nice stick. I won mine at a tourney raffle, lucky. but for 349.99 i couldn't justify. the vlx is preeeeetty much a chain saw cutting off the official sf4 cabinets joystick. but if you have the money i guess buy this. since it's limited edition and sfxt is so hype right now its going for double its value. as time goes on expect 500 $ asking prices. at the end of the day the sfxt stick is a round 2 TE with better graphics/artwork and a sloped edge to help not hurt your wrist as much. a round 2 TE goes for 140$ on here. if art work sloped edge and exclusivety are worth an additional 150-200$ it up to you. sanwa comes in all TE sticks.

I was fairly concerned if this game would be a good investment before it was released. The previews and trailers for it were very impressive, but I am loyal to the show for the simple fact that the gameplay is flat out better. The Bigs was released and has the same gameplay as the original 2K Baseball sim, but with this particular game the gameplay works. The whole problem with MLB 2k7 is that the gameplay is an arcade style on a simulation style game. The gameplay for that perfectly matches the arcade style format for The Bigs.

Pros: Excellent Graphics, interesting characters, unique player movements, and the HOMERUN PINBALL mode is very entertaining to the point of being addictive.

Cons: No Season or Franchise mode, hitting homeruns outside of your powerup is harder than it should be. (I'm not saying that it's hard, but it's not as easy as it should be)

I very cool game to rent for a week to play yourself or to own for multiplayer purposes.

If you are tired of the same old baseball game than this is the game for you. It doesn't go through the boring 162 game season, but gives you objectives to finishing the game. The graphics are great, the special animation is awesome and it is just great fun. The only complaint I have is playing defense. The game mechanics responds a little slow when playing defense. But overall the game is great fun with a lot of extras.

I love this game, unlike other games out there. The learning curve is short, I was up and playing without reading the manual. The game is easy to play and fun for all ages.

The game had not been out that long, and was already in the cheap bin, so I was expecting a below average game. I picked it up anyway, and i am glad I did. If you like baseball I would suggest picking it up.

I won't go into great detail as others have, but to me it was well worth the smaller price tag.

My son is a baseball fanatic, not video game, but playing the real thing. He has logged a ton of time with this game. This is an arcade style game, nothing terribly realistic about it (guessing the MLB games are more like watching real live baseball). He likes the whole turbo pitch and hit concept. Scoring a ton of runs. The homerun derby prize.

The graphics are decent. Controls are dirt simple. Learning curve is very small.

Given that this game is on deep sale right now, it's a very good bargain. I call it a great investment, many hours of fun.

XCOM:EU is a great game. I played the original and many other strategy games in the past. This is a full, long review. It may have minor spoilers. I will cover as much as possible. I give Objective reviews whenever I can, not Subjective. I will state my personal opinions when I can. This review may be more subjective for me as I really like this game.Bear in mind XCOM:EU has immense replayability as long as you like turn-based tactical battles. The strategy base part of the game is awesome as well.

Graphics

Unreal engine, but they spent a lot of time on the graphics and they look terrific! Only a few minor glitches here or there. The Deco DLC is awesome, not yet available as of this writing (it was a preorder bonus).

Sound

The sound is good, with voices for the soldiers. The music is not as eerie as in the original game, but it is still very good. When aliens are being fought the music picks up for the action. Very nice sound.

Early thoughts

The game is pretty solid, I only had one freeze up for the PS3. The base is very cool, and tactical is as good as ever. Bear in mind, the official Strategy Guide is NOT going to give tactical training! You need to become a good player by playing and figuring out the strategies, that is why it is called a STRATEGY Game. I will give a few tips where I can. I beat this game in two days, took roughly 24 hours, and I missed a lot of sleep.

Difficulty Easy/Normal or Classic/Impossible?

If you are new to this type of game, and especially to XCOM in general, I suggest at least Easy mode. On Easy mode there will be less threat to deal with and more special missions to help you. Also, the alien timetable will be a little longer, so you will have an extra monther or so before fighting the toughest monsters. Aliens are not easier to fight though, they have the same health and stats as Normal mode.

On Normal mode it took me 8 game months to win. I lost one country early on, Germany, mainly because South Africa asked for a Satellite they really did not need. Normal mode is just that, nothing differrent. This level of difficulty is the most fun in my opinion.

Classic and Imposiible difficulties really crank up the action. More enemies in missions and all the aliens get upgraded. Most get +10 Aim (they hit you easier), +10 Defense (-10 for you to hit them), and extra health. Even Thin Men will have 4 to 6 health, not 3. This means Grenades are no longer 100% to get kills. Less starting funds, Start with only one base facility (Satellite Uplink), More enemies, countries give fewer scientists/engineers.

Accessory slot

You get one accessory slot. The Support soldier can eventually have two. What should you bring to the battle? Early on you have no choice Grenades. Useful especially if you are new to XCOM style tactical battle. To be honest, this is the ONLY time I use grenades.

Scope or Grenade or Nano-fiber/Chitin Armor?

Scope. Scope. Scope! Once you get the Scope, you should seriously think about all soldiers having one. Nano-fiber armor gives +2 armor, VERY useful early in the campaign when you only have Body armor (+1 armor), as Nano-Fiber's +2 gives a total of +3 armor and -maykeep a soldier out of the infirmary when hit by Sectoid/Thin Man pistol fire, although critical hits may still happen. Chitin armor is rare to acquire, and I use it on Assault soldiers. With the best standard armor and Chitin armor my Assault can have 9 life + 14 armor, which when combined with the Assault's Extra Conditioning skill will give a total of 27 health in combat.

Scope or Mind Shield?

Mind Shields are hard to get and thus rare, but take them in the Final Mission for your low-Will soldiers as much as possible.

Early Moves

Early in the game you need to concentrate on gettng as many satellites up as possible. This will hopefully lower Alert levels in the country the satellite is deployed and will increase your monthly income. Countries covered will also give scientists and/or engineers per month. When deploying satellites, alert levels are Top Priority, not the continent or credit bonus of the country. Save your satellites until near the end of the month to help respond to Alien alert activity. This is very important as it will allow you to have the most flexibility to repond to Alert levels.

The Alien Containment facility can wait. In my opinion, this facility is best built much later in the game. It takes up energy and resources better used for satellite facilities.

Workshops are neccessary to raise your engineer numbers, but only so you can build more satellite uplinks. Laboratories are nearly useless, unless playing on higher difficulty settings, then they are useful because research speeds are much longer.

One power generator + one thermal generator + one elerium generator, placed all in a row, will give enough power for the whole game.

All facilities get the +1 bonus if placed next to each other, either horizontally or vertically.

SQUAD

My squad typically has 1 Support, 1 Assault, 2 Heavy and 2 Sniper. This is what I use but other players favor Assault more. Your squad composition is up to you.

Support

The weakest offensive unit but the most relied on for support. Eventually can have 3 Medikits. NOTE: All soldiers can carry a medikit as an accessory!

Assault

Total offense. I believe making the first enemy reaction shot miss is best, that way you can lead with this offensive tank. Can have up to 27 health, Awesome.

Heavy

I always go for +100% damage against Robots. VERY useful when facing the tough robot enemies. I also like Shredder Rocket and 2 Rockets. The capability to take 2 shots in a row is also very nice.

Sniper

I like Squad Sight as it allows me to shoot at anything the squad sees. Less useful with Hover armor, but still a good skill. Double Tap is also awesome. I do not prefer the Sniper that can move and shoot, so I take +2 pistol damage.

Tactical Battles

Stay together but not all grouped up. If you can't Dash from one side of the formation to the other you are too far apart. Use two mini-squads of support/heavy/sniper and assault/heavy/sniper (different depending on your choice of soldiers or if main soldiers are in the infirmary). When getting ready to enter a doorway, have each mini-squad stand to the SIDE of the doors, never IN FRONT. You could try it the other way but there are certain encounters that may end Very Bad. Take high percentage shots. Sometimes the game will make you miss No Matter What, that's just the way it is.

Move forward slowly! Use Overwatch as much as possible! Almost never Dash to move forward, and only Dash when near 100% certain the coast is clear. I cannot stress this enough. Tactical battles are long, patient affairs.

Use cover as often as you can! Although soldiers in full cover can still be hit, get as much defense as you can. Defensive bonuses make it harder to get hit, and you need every advantage you can acquire.

Interceptors

Emp or Plasma? Well, there are two ships you will encounter that are Main Story ships. No matter what you do, these ships will still have a good complement of soldiers. You can always get more artefacts from other missions, squad survivability is paramount so go with Plasma or the late tech Interceptor weapon. Use the EMP until you get Plasma or Fusion.

Grey Market

Almost everything you bring back from battle is useful. Only sell useless items on the Grey Market. Do not sell corpses as almost all have a use. Eventually some can be sold. Early in the campaign it is ok to sell some things, but usually unwise. For example, in my current game I have 4 UFO Power sources and 4 Navigations left. I built several key units and have no more real need for these items. However, they would be needed if I lost Firestorms. And these numbers are for most of the game! If I had sold any of these items I would not have been able to build all the stuff I needed. Therefore, Be Carefull selling on the Grey Market!

OVERALL

XCOM:EU is a great game. I am certain I may not have included everything I wanted, but this review is very long. I hope it all helps.

I LOVE THIS GAME!

I remember hearing about the original Game a long while ago in the 90's. Never had the chance to play the original. I bought a copy of Xcom: Enemy Unknown and it was exactly what I was looking for, a good strategy-turn based game experience. You get a lot of stuff here, yet you need to get familiar with the controls, they can be a little tricky to get used to. The graphics are OK, this game is based in the "unreal engine" so the graphics are alright, not bad, not great they are just fine. I really like Firaxis Games, specially those where Sid Mayer is involved and that is the case in this one. I am really amazed by the game mechanics, it plays really really well, and it will offer you a good challenge. There was a mission where I return to my base with only one soldier alive! but heck! it was SO exciting!

The story is just amazing and very very long. I honestly believe it is impossible to finish the whole game in one sitting. a warning though, put attention and read your messages well while you are at your command center, you can miss part of the story. I'm not an avid fan of buying game guides but the one for this game (it is short and cheap you can get it here at Amazon) can help you keep your sanity. The game will challenge you with six "Phases" or campaigns and it keeps you hooked-on; this can easily take days to complete. The challenge increases as you keep advancing and you need to balance your team strengths, the amount of research you invest in, how you are spending your money and putting attention when there are project priorities to be done at your engineering and research labs, these are all important things, but you can't do them all at the same time! you need to prioritize and this is what makes the game so fascinating by opening so many different game options. There are SO many options to choose from, but all is based in the strategy you pursue and where you decide to establish your command center or op's center. The game can be pretty challenging, playing with a crew of 4 soldiers is quite a challenge, you can add a maximum of 6 soldiers to your rooster, and you can balance the battle-field choosing the kind of soldiers you want, like a sniper, a heavy, assault, and support, etc.

The amount of replayability in this game is just insane, you can rack up an insane amount of hours, add that to the options you have to sell stuff you don't need in the "Gray Market" to earn some bucks, train and promote your soldiers, decide the kind of equipment you want to give them before you sent them out to a mission, you can customize your base, when to upgrade your satellites, participate or not in different kind of missions, and for those interested in Multiplayer you also have it here.

If you start your game in "easy" there is a tutorial for those folks new to X-com, the normal level is fair and if you are familiar enough with XCOM and like to suffer you can decide to play at the "Classic and Impossible" game modes. You also get an option called "Enable Ironman", if you select this option for the "Normal, Classic or Impossible" game modes, the auto-save feature is activated, so if you loose a soldier or an officer you really like there is no going back to your previous save to try to "play" the same character, it is gone for good! That is another thing you learn early on in the game, don't get too attached to your soldiers 'cause they are going to die, and die often! If you pre-order the game you get some goodies you can download from the Play Station store.

I am so happy a game like this came to the market, it was about time to offer the players a game where you can have a good solid strategy challenge. If you don't mind getting used to the game controls (it will get easier as you keep playing) this game is a great experience, a must buy for those who enjoy a good strategy challenge.

Thank you Sid Mayer, Firaxis and 2K for such a fun game!

++++++ BACKGROUND ++++++

X-Com: Enemy Unknown is a remake of the classic game X-Com: UFO Defense (UFO: Enemy Unknown outside North America) released in 1994 and is considered one of the top ten games of all time for the computer.

There are currently two re-makes currently undergoing development to be published by 2K. The first, known as XCOM, will be produced by Irrational games and depicts the XCOM universe as a First Person Shooter in the 1950's although recent announcements suggest it has been moved to the 1960's and will be squad based combat.

The second, X-Com: Enemy Unknown, was developed by Firaxis games and consists of the game I am currently reviewing. Firaxis are veteran developers of the genre of strategy games due to development of games such as Alpha Centauri and Civilization under the guidance of Sid Meier, one of the companies co-founders and creators of such classic games as Sid Meier's PIRATES!, Civilization, and Railroad Tycoon.

++++++ GAMEPLAY & COMBAT ++++++

X-Com: Enemy Unknown is a return to the world of single player strategy games that are few and far in-between in this world of first person multi-player shooters. Gameplay is divided in-between two areas; management and battle skirmishes.

In management, you build up your bases, upgrade facilities, preform research and development of weapons all the while monitoring your finances which always feel like a heavy burden you are carrying upon your shoulder you just cannot escape.

The skirmishes are where the meat and bones of the game lie and where you may spend a majority of your time. Simple choices you make in a turn-based fashion have an overall effect on the outcome of the battle. If you slip and make a poor choice the computer will make you feel that error. It may seem fun to go around and annihilating everything in your pass by using high explosive weapons but strategy requires you to capture and collect your enemies bodies and weapons. To get close requires strategy, planning, and luck several moves out. A well thought out strategy and turn is the key to success.

You spend your time recruiting, customizing, and developing your soldiers while watching them rise through the ranks after each successful mission becoming attached in the process only to have them fall in combat....and fall they shall. Your memorial wall will be filled by the midpoint of the game from the losses you will sustain. With the close intimacy of you and your men, the loss of a high ranking officer is a devastating moment to be played through and experience first hand.

The gameplay, compared to the original, has been streamlined but that is expected as the fact the game has been customized to fit the multiple of consoles it has been released for as well as the fact the field of gaming has changed a tremendous amount in the eighteen years since the original was released. The console does play rather well compared to its keyboard/mouse counterpart on the PC.

++++++ GRAPHICS & PRESENTATION ++++++

The graphics are, obviously, an improvement over its 1994 counterpart. I have had several issues with camera angels. Also, the action shots that you endure that became popular since Fallout 3 are entertaining if somewhat repetative. The skirmishes provide a very destructive environment that will leave the battlefield resembling swiss cheese that was burnt in a microwave.

++++++ CHALLENGE ++++++

The game is challenging but is not at the point where you feel as if you need to throw the controller at the wall because you have reached an in pass in gameplay.

Some have stated that this game is more difficult than the original. The reason why is the original X-Com in 1994 contained an error so all difficulty levels were the same. Later X-Com games were noted for their increased difficulty because this issue was fixed in sequels and later editions of the game.

++++++ STORY ++++++

The story is, overall, engrossing throughout the game and provides motivation to make it to the finish to see the end result. Who doesn't enjoy a good Human VS the Evil Aliens story?

++++++ CONCLUSION ++++++

This game is worthwhile of the title "X-Com" even with the high expectations and standards set before it by the classic "X-Com" of 1994. This game has met and exceeded the challenges set before it.

Highly recommended for those that enjoy turned based strategy games as well as those that desire something different than the dozens of first person shooter games that now littler the video game marketplace.

Read Best Reviews of XCOM: Enemy Unknown Here

I played the original X-COM a bunch using dosbox before purchasing the new one so I could compare.

The new one is very faithful to the original in almost all the ways that matter, while streamlining the things that don't. I would award 4.5 stars because it doesn't do this perfectly and suffers a little from 'consolization'. But it gets more right than wrong. If you liked the first, you will almost certainly like this re-creation and I suspect most will find it better.

The new one removes TUs in favor of an action counting system. This overall better and more streamlined. It's a bit less flexible than the TU system. In particular firing and then moving is generally not an option (except with one skill that the (I think) Assault class can get).

The soldiers also now remember their loadout from mission to mission, which removes the major wart of having to hand move all the equipment around at the start of each mission. The class system aids with this, and also provides a better and more flexible way to customize your soldiers abilities than training them the way you did in the first. My only complaint is that you can't load up with extras, which has led to me almost completely giving up on grenades as the inventory slot is far too valuable to be occupied by a single-use mediocre damage area of effect weapon.

Also, instead of building several bases and having to manage them all you now just build satellites to monitor particular countries and have it as a given that you have interceptor hangers in various world regions. No more fiddling with building storage areas, living quarters, equipment inventories and headcount. Also, all the first level eqiupment is essentially free.

But some strategic flexibility has been lost. In the original, it's possible to avoid combat much of them time. You engage in just enough to keep all the countries happy while using your workshop to manufacture items for sale. This is a much less viable strategy in the new one as you can only sell what your workshop produces when a country makes a special request (which happens rarely) and many workshop items take resources that can only be obtained from alien spaceships and bases.

The feel of the centerpiece of the game, the turn-based tactical combat remains very much the same. There are some armor types (Ghost armor, Skeleton armor) that offer tactical possibilities not present in the first. And enemies that have much more sophisticated tactics as well. The game greatly rewards careful planning and creative use of the various skills your soldiers possess.

I still can't figure out how you could possibly stun an ethereal though. Those arc-things are far less capable than either the stunsticks (they aren't a weapon and so can't be fired like one at the end of the assault class' run-and-gun skill) and I have not yet found an equivalent to the stun bomb launcher.

So, as I said, I think this game is overall singificantly better than the original even if it does have a problem or two that prevent it from being perfect.

Want XCOM: Enemy Unknown Discount?

I don't have a ton of experience with squad-based games, but this seems to be pretty well done in terms of game mechanics and tactical options available on the battlefield. Character development is fun, and I like the way they chose to represent the base too, although I feel like there's room for improvement in terms of making the player feel like he's actually inside each room. I find the dialogue a bit stiff; I'm coming off of playing Mass Effect, so maybe I'm setting the bar too high, but there is a notable decrease in the quality of the writing. There are some imperfections as far as depicting individual shots; shotguns appear to shoot through walls, rifles might not really be aimed at the target but they still manage to fire and kill, etc. These are minor and don't severely impact gameplay, but I think they're worth noting.

My one real complaint is that the game freezes frequently. I've managed to mitigate this by turning on autosave, so I never lose that much progress. But I find that particularly after missions, while the game is loading the debrief screen, it will simply continue to show the loading screen (e.g. the SkyRanger flying in the night sky) indefinitely and never successfully load the next screen. This is annoying, and I understand they've already patched a similar problem on the PC version, so maybe an update on PS3 is forthcoming.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this game, and would be a very happy camper if they fixed some of the bugs I've mentioned.

MadCatz might have a sordid history when it comes to licensed game peripherals, but they're RockBand lineup is nothing short of impressive. The Coffin Case gig bag has got to be one of the finest guitar controller carrying cases I've seen yet, short of buying an actual guitar case. It's actually nicer than some of the legitimate Coffin Cases for real guitars.

The exterior is beautifully textured with a scull and bones pattern and an official Coffin Case stamp. It has hand straps on the zippered side and a top strap and bottom clip for an optional shoulder strap (included inside the case). The interior is very soft and plush satin red. There is even a little black mesh cargo bag inside that is just big enough to hold the shoulder strap and XBOX 360 headset adapter (not included). Honestly, this is a nice case that could almost be mistaken for the real deal if it weren't for the size. The only perceivable flaw is that it feels kind of flimsy for a guitar bag, but that's just my opinion and not everyone who has carried the case agrees with me.

In fact, this soft case is almost preferable to the hard display Coffin Case because there's more pliable room (for guitar straps and manuals) and...it's cheaper. I really can't recommend this enough for anyone who wants to carry their RockBand guitars in style.

On a side note I'm not certain how well this case accommodates Guitar Hero guitars; it was made specifically for the RockBand Fender Stratocaster replica guitar controller lineup, but I'm positive it will hold the Guitar Hero Les Paul replica guitar controllers with plenty of room to spare. Ironically, it won't hold the MadCatz Fender Precision Bass replica unless the detachable tuning head is removed, but who wants to keep pulling the head off the guitar to stow it in a case? I'm not sure how well it will hold The Beatles RockBand guitar controller lineup or the new Fender Telecaster replica either, but I'm itching to find out just as soon as they hit the market.

The most compelling aspect to this game, for me, is the detailed progression you make if you create your own head coach character. It very much has a RPG feel to me, because the choices I make with my progression directly affect the way my team performs on Sunday. I'll highlight the best things I like about this game:

1. The Draft. Throughout the season you send out your scouts to evaluate the various prospects. Want to concentrate on an overlooked small-school guy? You can. Then you bring guys in for individual workouts to unlock more player information so you can decide if they are a good fit. Then you go through the draft, trading up or down to get the guy you want. It's exciting to put in the work and snag a potential superstar with a late-round draft choice.

2. The level of detail and control. This game accounts for EVERYTHING that a head coach deals with. Player attitudes. Injuries. Offensive/Defensive schemes. You can create your own plays. You can call the plays in the actual game. You deal with signing free agents and resigning players. Will you progress through the draft, or sign big free agents and pay their hefty price? You can hire/fire assistant coaches. I could go on and on. If you are a huge football fan, you can pore over the numbers all day, and because you build your team from the ground up, you get heavily invested in the outcomes.

3. The out-of-game announcers add to the narrative. The stories that Adam Schechter tells about the potential draftees really add to the realism, about the off season antics of the Heisman hopeful or the sleeper RB at a tiny school. It's great.

This game is not perfect. There are some bugs. But overall, it's an amazingly addictive game with a ton of potential. If you are a hardcore football fan, get this game, take control of your hometown team, and lead them to the Super Bowl!

Let me first say that this game does have some issues, but EA put out a patch that fixed some major problems (2 min. offense and injuries). Could the game have been better? Of course, but I find the game very fun and totally addicting. If you are a diehard football fan I can't see how you wouldn't like this game. If you feel the need to control the players every move then play Madden 09! (Common sense goes a long way in life) Just like real NFL coaches, you have to suffer through some dropped passes and fumbles that your over paid players put you through. The game is a little slow in reacting to your button inputs, but you get used to that. It's not a button sensitive game like Madden, so it doesn't matter. The longer you play the more you understand why certain things happen. Your head coach (I chose to create my own) and your staff all have skills that they either already have or that they need to learn over time. You earn "skill points" by winning games. You develop these skills over time and it truly affects everything on the field. As far as graphics go, I think it really depends on what view you are using during the actual game. You can change views easily with R2. The "cinematic" view looks very good, but I use "overhead" also to really see the x's and o's in action. I highly recommend actually playing each game instead of simming them. You learn more about your teams' strengths and weaknesses that way, and more importantly you can increase your teams' "play knowledge". This is a crucial part of the game. Each play is either "unlearned, learned or mastered". Your players' success has everything do do with their knowledge of the plays. My only real complaint about this game now is the fact that once you start a game you cannot save it until it's over. Lastly, I would suggest you increase the skill level slider (for both your team and the AI) all the way up on the running backs. The standard default for the running backs have them doing some really random and unskilled things.

Playing for several hours a day, a season should take you a couple weeks minimum. This is not an action filled game. While there are some flaws, you definitely get a feeling of accomplishment after putting together the right team and going on an extended winning streak without cheating. This is especially true if you start with a bad team, like I did with the 49ers. I almost got fired in my first season, but I saved it by winning a couple games at the end and finishing the otherwise disappointing season with some flair. Don't get discouraged. This is an addicting game if you give it a chance.

You really must be a die hard football fan to enjoy this game. I can see the potential for a limited crowd to enjoy this, but it requires quite a bit of patience and dedication to become fully involved. The actual game day coaching is so painfully boring that it almost feels like they focused all their energy on behind the scenes stuff. I was hoping for a more interactive experience when calling plays, but it gets so repetitive and robotic that it can put you to sleep. There is no excitement to be found anywhere on actual game day. I suppose the nuts and bolts of coaching are realistic here but calling plays should be the most fun part, and here it is very lacking. Even the crowd noise seems built to make you sleepy, it's kind of a low humming noise like watching golf on television. A definite improvement over 2008, but still a ways to go.

Want NFL Head Coach 09 Discount?

Jury is still out on this game for me. I've owned the game for a week now. Created my own coach and it gives you a rating on the level of difficulty for that particular team. You can start in the 2008 preseason or being at training camp. I always elect the offseason. Contract situations are all actual. However unlike the current NFL rules when you make a trade you still get a cap-hit.

You have to be very careful with your Cap because during the offseason EVERY freeagent will be presented to you to get in on the bidding for. If your team has a lot of needs the temptation is to sign everyone that fits that need. Likewise you have NO idea what it's going to cost you to sign draft picks AND no idea what it's going to cost to sign players to fill your roster just before camp starts. The GM will sign undrafted rookies and free agents to fill your roster before camp as long as you have enough Cap space.

Fatigue plays a major factor with your players and I think age has a bearing on it.

After each game you go through a normal practice week and are presented with items you can work on. However, you are not necessarily given items to help you learn and develop new plays in your playbook. This season I have a lot of rookies and rookies at the same positions are given the same plays to work on. I've even worked on the halfback one day and the O-line the next and the plays were mostly the same. How successful you are depends on what plays are unlearned, learned or mastered. On an unlearned play the guys are like well, "where do I go, what's my assignment." Even if it is learned each player has a level of knowledge of that play. There's even a percentage for Mastered. The QB may have it mastered but the wideout may not. So practice is critical. However, you are not necessarily going to get to practice the plays you want to run in the game. That needs to be fixed.

The first few times you try the game the learning curve is very high. Not that I don't know the sequence of events and the variables in coaching and team building; it's more the structure of the game; and what works and doesn't work.

One thing I'm getting tired of rather quickly is emotional reaction. Too frequently during a game your are asked to give a calm or excited reaction to a particular play. Your reaction impacts your rating with everyone from fans, media, owner, staff and players. It breaks focus on what's going on on the field. And because the game as one reviewer said is not very fast when you press a button it adds to the frustration. I'm ready to call the next play.

I miss my office from the original version. I miss the staff meetings. I want advice from my people like in the original. That's the way it is in the real world. In this version it seems your staff only have one function and that is to develop and impact the performance of your players by how much skill and special skills they possess. After wins your coaches earn skill points that you can spend to acquire new skills and advance skills you and they already have. How skilled you or your assistant coaches are impacts your players.

I want this game to be great. I want it to be a challenge. I'm thinking it might wind up being too much of a headache to enjoy.

One last thing. If this is true then I'd be done with the game. It almost seems like the outcome of each game is predetermined. In some games it seems like I'm dominating then all of a sudden my guys can't do anything right. Up by 21 then can't move the ball or stop the opponent. Then move the ball and fumble at the opponent 10 as your going down to win. Another senario, can't do anything right at all and get blown out of the building. Whatever you call won't work. It's as if the system says the score of this game is going to be 31-21 and there is nothing you can do about it. You get your 21 points early then the system says that's it.

The graphics and level design in this game are phenomenal, this is one beauty of a game. My wife actually stopped dead in her tracks to comment on the beauty of it.

Gameplay is dead on, I have played for around 5 hours and not once have I been frustrated by unresponsive controls or bad camera angles etc...99.9% of all my mistakes I can blame on myself.

Elika is a beauty and her role is perfect, she is the perfect AI companion, and she never hinders gameplay. The only complaint I might have about the game is that it's set up so you can't really fail, she is always there to bail you out.

Trophies galore!

I purchased this for the PS3 because of the controller, I am one of the few that absolutely love the Playstation controllers, especially for platforming and action based games. FPS games I give the nod to my 360 and that wonderfully bulky controller.

In my opinion this game is a must buy, PS3, 360, doesnt matter, go out and buy this phenomenal game now.

To give some perspective for my review, I think I should point out that on the scale of gamers, I fall somewhere between the "casual fan" and the "obsessive fanboy."

With that said, I found Prince of Persia disappointing for several reasons. First and foremost was Ubisoft's (second) failure to fully take advantage of their astounding open-world engine. I cannot dispute that the developer has, like Assassin's Creed, created an extraordinarily beautiful world with some of richest colors and textures I've seen on the PS3. In the case of PoP, the cell-shading animation of the Prince, his allies, and his villains is reminicent of Okami...jaw-droppingly gorgeous. But while the graphics astound, the gameplay suffers. It was a groundbreaking to be able to interact with every nook and cranny around the player, but the luster of this level of interactivity quickly wears off. I still have the sense that there has to be some way that Ubisoft could improve the gameplay to be less repetetive. The gold-standard for open-world gameplay has to be GTA4, in my opinion, and the city feels ALIVE. In PoP, however, the world seems to be nothing more than an excuse to showcase beautiful scenery and show-off how cool some of the player animations can be...you never feel as connected to the world as you do to Liberty City.

My second complaint is one that I've read on this product review, but I'll point it out anyway. The game is wholly comprised of the following pattern: execute acrobatic moves until you reach an enemy, fight the enemy...and repeat. The acrobatics and animations of both the "traveling" and the "fight" are seemless and stunning, but they happen over and over and over again. I found myself bored rather quickly.

Finally, I found this game incredibly easy. I completed the main story in less than ten hours. I did not die once as the Prince's companion makes such an occurrence a virtual impossibility. I easily won eight or so boss battles by pressing the "SQUARE" button repeatedly. And finally, the game will prompt which button to push in combat situations...the computer gives you a crutch you cannot turn off. Dissenters might point out that by button mashing in combat situations I am missing out on some beautiful extended combos and animations. I counter with the opinion that a combat system is seriously flawed if the player can easily succeed by pressing one button continuously.

Overall, I'm in the middle on PoP simply because it was incredibly beautiful and had a decent story with excellent characters. If I were you, however, I'd wait to buy this at a discount instead of paying full price. As beautiful as it is, you shouldn't be in a rush to pay full price for PoP.

The new entry in Prince of Persia is actually not related to the old POP/PS2 games. Our new Prince is just a ordinary man who accepts the responsibility of cleansing the world. This is a entirely new story and the gameplay is totally new. The main character has four moves mapped to the face buttons.. as simple as that. The same action button does different thing at different times based on your situation. It makes it for a smooth gameplay. No complicated button combos for movement and no frustrating deaths. I have to applaud the developers for producing a very satisfying game play with simple mechanics.

Artstyle is so refreshing, it is this generations OKAMI. Character animations are the best we have ever seen in video games. As the game progresses prince can pull off some amazing tricks like roof crawl, it is a pure visual feast. There is a lot of variety in play mechanics. There are even some flying quests, carrying Elka in your back. First you travel through infested dark world where the game play is totally linear. Once you beat the final boss the level gets freed from corruption, it becomes cheerfully colorful. Then it becomes like mario star collection. More skillfull you are more you can collect. The second try of the levels are lot more difficult than the first runup to kill the big boss. Which makes it a win-win for every one. Skilled players can go all out in collection to get skills faster and earn trophies. Where in normal players can finish the game without throwing the controller to the wall. What ever the situation you are in Elka will save you. You miss judge a jump she is there, you screw up in combat and want a break she will help you. Combat is near perfect this time around.. no mindless button mashing. Every boss battle is different from other. Some require Elka, some require use of environment etc. etc. I personally like the new combat compared to the old POP games. If are patient and chain the combos you can beat them in 2 or 3 rounds. Especially when you start to chain areal combos it gives chills. Visual combat animations for combos are amazing. It is not as extravagant as DMC4, but very well done.

The main character prince comes with all the necessary skill from the start of the game. There are some good chain combos for combat to learn. On the other hand Elka gets new power-ups and becomes better as you collect more goodies. She is be best female companion video games ever had. She is always helpful and nice. Without her Prince can't do much, but very unassuming and humble. I liked her more than the main character. The story is her quest to free the world from corruption and prince is more like a mule carrying her around the world. I know it sounds bizarre, the story is amazingly tied well.

I have played the game couple of times, it plays silky smooth. No frame rate issues or hangs. Even though it is built on AC engine, the game is more true to the orignal POP than AC. Dont pass on this one, at least give it a rent. Even if you have never played previous POP or AC this one is a must have.

This game is truly one of the most enjoyable games I've played in many years. It reminds me of playing some of the earlier Nintendo games such as Legend of Zelda because of the pace and relaxation of the whole experience. There is no hurry in this game and no annoyances that you find in many other games. This is a nice break from some of the awesome but sometimes stressful pace and feel of some of the newer games out there. P.O.P. gives you plenty of opportunities to stop and smell the roses and to check out the BEAUTIFUL scenery that this game provides. Most games I play lately require me to sit up or stand up because they require extreme vigilance and concentration, but this one is more of a sit back and relax kind of exerience.

POP is simply just a lot of fun with no hassle. Some may complain that it's too easy, but this game is meant to provide you with a different type of entertainment than all the others. Controls are easy going and very rhythmical. The graphics are outstanding. The story is very easy to get into and not extremely complicated either. If you're looking for a change of pace or just a nice way to relax on the couch, this is the game to pick up. It's just a beautiful piece of art. Enjoy.

Sands of Time is by far the most fun platform of all time in my opinion. It was both breathtaking and revolutionary. Unfortunately, the next two sequels were more cookie cutter and repetitive with a fake dark atmosphere and repetitive, needless fighting.

This games returns to the fun of the Sands of Time. The acrobatics are the showcase. The atmosphere, though not the most vibrant, can be lush at times. The concept is simple you go to an area, find a way to the boss level, fight the boss, the area becomes "fertile", then you explore the area and get light seeds. You get enough seeds, you get a power. Your goal is to make all 25 grounds fertile, then fight the main boss.

You jump, drop down, climb onto poles. The same usual Prince of Persia stuff with the great, easy to understand mechanics. No falling because you misaligned yourself, no dying because you didn't press two buttons at the exact right time.

There are only about 3 puzzles and they are relatively easy. There are also very few enemies you only have to fight the boss at the end of a fertile ground, and possibly a simple enemy in between the grounds. The amount of fights has reduced significantly. The main change to the platforming dynamics is Elika, a princesses who helps you double jump and can pick you up when youmeaning you never die. This allows you to actually worry about the game as opposed to worrying about whether you can make a jump.

And for fighting no needless swarms to take care of. As usual, there are a combos you can use, you can use Elika's magic, and that's about it.

It's not all great though. There are two main problems the boss fights are long. You face the same boss for each level 5 times, and these things take forever. Each fight is about 10 minutes long of basically button mashing. Really boring and dull after a while. The second main problem are the special powers your receive. Basically, you jump to a plate, and then you either jump to another plate, fly, or run on a wall. This is basically eye candy with game mechanics that don't run well. You'll find this to an tedious exercise of trial and error. These two things break the flow of the game tremendously.

All in all, it's a fun, simple game that returns to the splendor that was the Sands of Time.

Pros:

Great acrobatics

Open ended

Fun

No walkthrough needed

Less emphasis on fighting

Cons:

Bosses are somewhat annoying

Graphically no wow factor

The "special powers" are annoying.

Time to Complete: 12 hours

i took a chance and bought this yesterday along with the Wii's Chill Station. Both looked great when i turned it on. Even though on the box of the ps3 stand, it says "inlcudes a ac adapter to power the light". I was pleased to find that was an error in print since the stand uses a USB as a power source, which is great since it turns on the light when you turn on the system. I loved how the glow makes it look like this ps3 is on display at E3. It's too bad it doesn't have a cooler included like the Wii chill station.

When i was looking for a stand for my original fat ps3 i was looking at stands that where just that... STANDS. Some were able to hold games but if you're going to have your ps3 standing its because you dont want to take up so much room at the bottom so i did not see the point in those. So i came across the vertical glow stand, and the right away i loved the blue led lights at the bottom. When i found out that there was no need for extra power cables because it already comes with a usb plug for the ps3, i order not 1 but 2. I got them 3 days later, and right out of the box the stands looked glossy just like the ps3. I opened them, pluged them in, turned the system on and it just looked great. Plus it comes with a controller holder, though that was pointless because the holder would go behind the system where nobody would be able to see it, i would've loved it if it was in the fron instead. Regardless from that insignificant detail, this stand is pretty awesome, it is sturdy, well built, and it is priced at a perfect price. My recomendation.... BUY IT! This will not only fit perfect into your system and do what all stands are supposed to, but it will also glow and look awesome as well as make your system look like a star just like the debut system used in E3.

This product is very slick looking and does increase the stability of the PS3 when in the vertical position. It is powered by a USB port but has a pass through port on the stand, so you don't lose any ports. I never did see my stand alternate between blue and red. It only illuminated in a blue color.

The door to access the media slots on the 60GB system will not open when in the stand. It is really only good for the 20GB system.

I read the reviews that the memory card access door does not open when in the stand, but I decided to get it anyways for stability. I love the stand and was surprised to see that the door actually opens fine! Soooo, I don't know what everyone is talking about. I did however notice that it doesn't alternate between blue and red as advertised. Not a big deal though. Great product, check it out (I got mine at Target on clearance for about $18).

I have always appreciated a good rhythm game and DJ hero is just that. The game boasts a good song selection for everyone hip-hop, rap, pop and a little rock. If you have listened to a radio in the past 30 years your going to recognize a majority of the songs.

HardwareLets start with the actual turntable its self. It looks amazing for starters. The turntable is very well constructed feeling heavy and durable. I have never spun records but I would assume this is what it would feel like. You have the normal colored buttons on the turntable. To the left or right, whichever you decide to put the mixer table, has a Fader, Effects dial, Euphoria button (that lights up when the euphoria meter is ready) and full D-pad and controller buttons.

HARDWARE

Prosfeels sturdy, heavy and durable

Realistic feel

Full spinning turntable

looks amazing you wont mind having this setting on your coffee table

Cons-Buttons on turntable can become slick(from sweat or your potato chip grease stained fingers) after a while of play making the heaviness of the turntable cause you to scratch for a little to long on some parts or slip out of your hand.

The fader has to be moved from left to right and back to the middle which is hard to do precisely since where the fader clicks in the middle can be hard to find and can become frustrating when going for a streak.

GAMEPLAY

The gameplay is a lot like all the guitar hero games. It reminds me of the Guitar Hero games as it is easy to pick up very hard to master. Most gamers who are not experienced DJ's will stick with the medium difficulty. You have a green, red and blue record stream that comes down the screen like previous guitar hero games. The green and blue are tied to the two separate tracks while the red usually controls some type of effects noises and the freestyle parts on tracks where you can add in samples(like the classic air horn noise or Flavor Flave's YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAHHHHH BOOOOOOY!) that you select from a set before you start each event. Euphoria is practically the same as star power the music gets louder, multiplier doubles and you don't have to fade the tracks in and out until the euphoria meter runs out. One of the coolest gameplay features is the rewind. Imagine your friends are watching amazed at your DJ skills (the game looks hard to play to bystanders and you really mimic a DJ to some extent) you go on a streak and acquire a rewind. The hook comes in "my name is CHICKA CHICKA SLIM SHADY" rewind..."my name is CHICKA CHICKA SLIM SHADY" and the crowd goes wild! Another great feature is the Party Play. Let the game be the background music for your next party and you can join in anytime. The game amps up the difficulty pretty quickly not enough to be annoying but definitely challenging and very rewarding. The best part of all you can't be booed off of the stage you just wont earn as many points with a bad performance. You will need stars to unlock everything. There a few songs that support the guitar hero controller for a second player to play. I haven't used this feature but I have noticed there are only a handful of songs that support it.

GAMEPLAY

Prosgreat slightly familiar gameplay

-Party Play

-Rewind

ConsHard to stay on a streak sometimes with having to be precise on the fader parts

-you don't have the ability to record your own samples for freestyle sections and there are only 10 or so sample sets for freestyles possible more added in DLC?

-No create your own DJ you have to use the ones they provide for you that you unlock as you go but the all have a good selection of customizable clothes and tables with different skins

SET LIST

I'm going to be honest I have never really liked DJ mixes and house music all that stuff. It always seemed to me like they never get to the most memorable parts of song. Now I have a new understanding of the music genre. DJ's do this for a reason to get listeners to anticipate that classic part of the song that everybody knows. The set list is pretty massive well over a 100 songs. This seems like a lot of songs and they are all widely popular songs that most will know. Almost all of the songs are two song mixes which is what you would expect from a DJ game. You can't help but react to the music and neither can friends watching. Just like recent rhythm games you can make your own set list and either play or put the game into party play mode and jump in and out of the song if you want.

SET LIST

ProsHuge Set list of very popular songs.

-Music that will get you moving

Consnone really the music is what this game is about and you will enjoy it.

OVERALL

DJ hero is a game that I think will quickly gain popularity. Once people come to terms that this game is fun for solo players or with friends it will take off. The music is amazing and the first time you scratch through Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti" vs. Shlomo "Beats" or any of the other memorable songs you will think your ready for the club. This game is a buy for sure if you're on the fence don't base your experience off of a few minutes at your local best buy you wont get the full experience. It's best to set down through the tutorials and start from the beginning. If you have had dreams of DJ'ing or just like being the life of the party and appreciate some good music pick up DJ hero today.

So we were very excited about this game coming out. We initially bought the renegade version, and realized a few hours later it wasn't worth the $80 difference. The added cd is just a musical cd, we thought it added some music to the game... but no! We already own all the music from these guys that we want. So in essence we got a stand for $80. My boyfriend is 6'4", so we thought it may be worth it. Once again wrong. I stood up playing it for all of 2 minutes, then decided to put my feet up on the ottoman and sit it in my lap. Much easier! Even if you don't do that, buy a $7 TV dinner tray from Walmart and put it on there. We now have the cheaper one, and the difference back. Overall besides that the game is fun. One annoying feature though. In some songs there is this really annoying high pitched ringing sound. I don't know how to make it stop. I guess it's part of the "party" noises... but it's really annoying. I initially thought it was our smoke detector going off. The noise goes in and out on some songs, and it's completely gone in others. All that said we enjoy the game. Nice alternative to all the boy shooting, sports, and fighting games.

This game was a gamble for me when I purchased. It was pretty expensive (for me at least) so I would have been pretty disappointed if it was not very fun.

Not only is DJ Hero very fun, but it is an excellent game for more than one person to enjoy. Whenever I have visitors they can't put the game down, sometimes for hours. The controls are very easy to learn and the different difficulty levels make it so that everyone can play without frustration. The easier levels are perfect for children and the harder levels are almost an endless challenge.

The music alone almost makes this game worth the purchase. The bulk of the songs are never before heard mixes. Even if hip-hop isn't your thing, the mix of genres is pretty awesome. From rap, rock, blues, techno, R&B, and so on, there is something that most people will enjoy.

I ended up getting the standard version that comes with just the game and turntable, however a friend of mines has the Renegade Edition that comes with a really nice case that also doubles as a turntable stand with telescoping legs so that it can be used while sitting or standing. It may or may not be worth the extra money to go for the Renegade Edition. I manage just fine with using the turntable on a tabletop or even on my lap. Also the Renegade Edition comes with two discs, both with 12 songs each picked by Jay-Z and Eminem.

Pros: Easy to learn. Quickly addictive. Tough to master. Downloadable content for virtually endless mixes and set possibilities. Sturdy controller (turntable). Online play. Some songs also playable with guitar from Guitar Hero.

Cons: The only con I can think of is that you cannot purchase a second controller as of right now. They only way to play against someone else is for that person to have the game on their own. I'm sure this will change soon though.

All things considered, DJ Hero gets five stars from me. It's hard to believe that anyone will not get some sort of enjoyment from this game.

As a DJ, I was pretty disappointed in this game. Overall, it does a poor job of replicating the real experience. For starters, there is virtually no control over the music. Either you follow the suggested button presses, or some pre-recorded skipping starts happening. This isn't a huge deal, but I've noticed that the first thing a lot of people like to do when they pop this game in is to start scratching. Needless to say, they're left in the cold. I think this game would be a lot better if it had a free-for-all mode where players could just get wild with the music.

Secondly, there's no mixing. It's done automatically, courtesy of the pre-recorded music. The game does require a little cross-fader action to accompany the music, but I found it pretty disappointing that my favorite aspect of DJ'ing was reduced to "a little cross-fader action."

As for the biggest control aspect (the colored buttons), it's kind of weird having to make swift button presses on a platter that tends to rotate when you do so. Basically, the buttons serve the purpose of a sampler a sampler that was somehow able to be built into an LP.

In future iterations of DJ Hero, I'd like to see it resemble actual DJ'ing more closely. Maybe release a controller that has two turntables and a mixer, so players can actually do some mixing themselves. Maybe take the buttons off the platter and place them on the mixer instead. IMO, DJ'ing isn't so difficult that it had to be dumbed down to the extent that maybe a guitar would. Of all of the `Hero' instruments, I would say that this controller ranks in between the guitar and mic in fun factor all of which are a distant second to the drums, in my opinion.

Snobbery aside though, this is a pretty decent rhythm game. The music is nice, and I like that it has guitar support. I also hear that the game has mic support, though I've never tried it. Supposedly, the makers are also considering adding drum support in the future. These are some pretty nice efforts to make the game a little more fun to groups.

Final Verdict: If you're looking to scratch that itch you've always had to be a DJ, this game isn't gonna get it done. However, if you just want one of the more entertaining music games out there (which isn't saying much), this might be a good choice.

Ok, This game is great. I was waiting for a R&B/Hip-Hop answer for the Guitar Hero and Rock Band. So it's here and I love it. I had Guitar Hero World Tour and it was cool, but some of the music I didn't relate to. I grew up listening to R&B and Hip-Hop, don't get me wrong I love all music but this is what I can really get into.

This game is fun because when you first begin you go thru a training tutorial of everything that you will do in the game. This game is merely hand/eye coordination and that's it. It's fun and not hard at all. The turntable looks pretty basic at first sight but it's is pretty loaded with stuff once you begin playing the game (it keeps you busy). Gee wiz, after I played a couple of hours I felt the numbing and stiffening in my left hand for keeping up with all of the streams of music. All and all it's very additive and fun.

The gameplay is really good too, I love how the crowd gets all amped up and they start "raising the roof" which makes you get more into the flow and that really helps you stay focused on hitting the right streams because you don't want to let the crowd down. The better you do the more points and stars you accumulate. The stars are critical because that is how you get "paid in pull" and unlock other Dj's, turntables and venues...there is so much more to unlock but I can't remember all of them.

Overall, I say buy it ($120). It will keep everyone happy for a while, It think it has a high replay value. I really appreciate DJH because I love the music and there is so much variety from the music library in the game. I read that Eminem is looking to have an expansion package in the future with more tracks and I can't wait. I see I'm the only 5 star review thus far. I know there will be many more.

Thanks for checking out my review!

I did not look closely enough before I bought because these are off brand products. They feel cheap and not as sturdy as the Sony products and you can feel stuff moving around inside when you are using them. The navigation controller only works when plugged directly into the PlayStation. Which defeats the purpose of it being wireless and makes it difficult to move around. Also makes it impossible to use in the Move Sharpshooter, which is the main reason I got it. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is because the motion controller actually works.

After years of playing crummy Spider-man games like Spider-man 3, Friend or Foe, Web of Shadows; this game is perfect for the Spider-man fan. I grew up with Spider-man comics and of coarse had to have every video game that ever came out with his name on it. This is the best. The script writing and voice acting is perfect, as well as Spidey's wit and sarcasm intact and exactly as it should be. Sure the story is a little far fetched but it is a comic book game after all. In my mind this takes the greatness of the first Ultimate Alliance and mixes it with some tips from Arkham Asylum to make a perfect blend of ease and entertainment. The extra suits and level ups make it extremely fun and holds interest. The four worlds also make this anything but a boring old swing through New York and punch bullies. You'll have a new favorite costume each day. Obviously I recommend it and if you love Spidey, its a must have.

...but I had to give it 5 stars simply because I don't think that the game earns a 3.5-star average after 5 reviews.

The game is just flat out campy fun. The basic premise of the story (actually the whole nugget!) is that Spider-Man inadvertently destroys a tablet (the cliched "Tablet of Order and Chaos") during a fight with Mysterio, resulting in the shattering in the fabric of reality, placing 3 alternate universes in jeopardy. All of the fragments need to be recovered. Enough said, because that's the story plain and simple.

The game begins in a tutorial-style mode where you get a taste of each alternate Spidey universe (Amazing, Noir, Ultimate, and 2099) and the first 4 fragments of the tablet are easy to collect as you are guided into how each universe differs from the other. Amazing Spider-Man is probably the most balanced of the 4 between his ability to shrug off attacks and dispatch enemies with relative ease. Ultimate Spider-Man has the alien symbiote attached to him, resulting in some rather fantastic rage powers and yet he has to contend with horrific villains. Spider-Man 2099 is also well balanced, but does a lot of aerial combat as he falls through impossible heights. Noir Spider-Man (my favorite) has to rely on stealth for take-downs; if he is exposed in the light, it doesn't take much to bring him down forcing you to evade and melt in the shadows as quickly as possible. Noir can barely deal with one frontal confrontation with your typical lackey; he will get mowed down with 2 or more in his face.

The story is not the best, but it's all about the campy humor, fun, and the web slinging. So how are the gameplay mechanics? In a word...awesome. As you get slowly introduced into his abilities, you'll find yourself web-slinging around, web jumping, blinding your enemies with web pellets, performing web kicks, straight-up punches, etc. It's pretty well done.

Another cool aspect of the game lies within the "Web of Destiny." The Web of Destiny has a series of tasks for Spider-Man to complete in order to win additional Spidey "essence" (read: points) so that he can purchase additional upgrades, abilities, etc. It's very similar to the upgrade system in Batman: Arkham Asylum. It's also well done and leads to some rather cool abilities that Spidey can do. It also breaks the montony of a button-mashing game, forcing you to take down a certain number of enemies a certain way, complete something within a certain amount of time, find a certain number of items, etc. It makes you refrain from web sling, attack, web sling, attack, wash, rinse, and repeat. It's clever.

As for the camera complaints, I don't have any issues. I'm able to navigate the camera with right analog stick with relative ease if the shot doesn't please me and I don't find myself struggling at all. I'm a little puzzled at the complaints thus far I have zero issues.

My biggest complaint is when boss fights occasionally enter a 1st-person mode. Seriously, if I wanted to perform hooks, uppercuts, and dodges like this, then I'll slip the PUNCH-OUT! disc into my Wii console. I don't want it in my Spider-Man game. The mechanics come across as cheesy and half-baked. It seems like the developer felt like it was a cool idea and then realized it was too late to back off the stupid concept and left it in, with the embarrassing wave of "oh, it does this, too." In addition, while most of the levels are pretty cool, some are inexplicably frustrating.

How does the game hold up overall? Humor: campy, but great! Action/web-slinging: well-done! Voice-acting: pretty good for the most part! Is it a Batman: Arkham Asylum contender? Definitely, definitely NOT. But it holds up to its own strengths pretty well and it's fun to play.

Overall, I give it 4 1/4 stars but I'm giving it a full 5 simply because reviews thus far have been a little too harsh in my opinion.

If you're looking for a real true-to-the-comic-book, real-web-swing-feel Spider action game, this is simply a must have. One of the most innovative battle sequences I have seen is found in this game. There are a couple of sequences when fighting some of the main bosses that you're going at them in what feels like a nose to nose battle. With what feels like to me a nod to the original Mike Tyson's Punch Out, with several of the bosses you'll have a chance to duke it out. Nothing made me feel like I was fighting them more than a swift upper cut or shot to the jaw.

That's a sneak peak about fighting, but swinging around with your webs is a great addition to that. You have to press L2 and look for the yellow arrows to zip right to your target, but I felt this was an excellent way to capture the split second decisions Spider-Man has to make when he swings into an area or swings up to a perch. I like the right on, pin point swings because it feels like you're getting a chance to use his Spidey-sense for trajectory instead of latching on to seemingly endless invisible buildings or objects. I felt like this was a real improvement over most Spider-Man games and it made me feel like I was wearing the webs.

I've read of a few complaints on the "no sandbox type" gaming in this iteration. This is far from a complaint for me. I like the more linear type games. The leveling system of your powers adds a nice non-linear piece to the linear action, and the objectives that come into play during the game are nicely done to add even more replay ability to the game--making you want to max out on the challenges and use the combo points to purchase all of the extras and upgrades. Back to the more linear gameplay. I like how in some games the developers use the action to tell the story. Don't give me a sandbox type game with pieces of the story all broken and scattered throughout the game, tell me what I'm supposed to be paying attention to, give me an objective and several ways to accomplish it, and I'll keep coming back to improve upon the puzzles and master the game and get more enjoyment out of the story. The biggest perk of the "non-sandbox style"--diverse environments. You're not always in New York. You travel everywhere in this game and it helps me feel, not only immersed, but able to enjoy the different artwork and planning, and thought that went into the game to keep the play fresh at every turn.

This game blows Web of Shadows away. I started playing that and the graphics and gameplay and voice overs and fighting in that game, well, they not only made me yawn, but they are just bad, the picture on the cover of Web of Shadows is the best part about that game. Spider learning from I think . . . the Cage guy? He seems like a simple weakling, not like the battle proven spidey like in this game. He's tough in Shattered Dimensions, and witty . . . I love the one liners. This game is also a big improvement on Spider-Man Friend or Foe. I liked that game, but it was just way too short, and the story wasn't quite as good as the one in Shattered Dimensions. Maybe it's the diversity of using Spidey in all of his different worlds that draws me in, but I just can't put down Shattered Dimensions.

I make it a strict rule to never buy any games if it has a movie attached to it and this is one time it really paid off. If you're looking for a Spider-Man game and don't want to worried about being let down, you must give this one a try. The Noir really is fun. I think the added stealth element could help it hold up as a game by itself, but right now, as far as challenge wise, I'm still finding the Spider-Man 2099 Dimension the most challenging. I have the whole 2099 Spider-Man series run and it's nice to see they polished it up and revisited it. It made for a great addition to the Spider world and I thought it was cut short way before it really developed.

Being able to play as different incarnations of the webslinger was probably the #1 reason why I tried this game at all. The graphics were fun, each Spiderman had his own 'style'. Spider Sense was given its fair shake: helpful but not game breaking. Controls took no time at all to become accustomed to. There were a few tech issues, mostly awkward camera angles, and they could make finding all the extras a bit of a headache.

The plot is predictable. Mystic McGuffin breaks into separate pieces and it's up to Spiderman... I mean four Spidermen to save the day. We get the Amazing Spiderman, Noir Spiderman, Ultimate Spiderman, and (my fave) Spiderman 2099. Each Spiderman has their own costumes and special abilities, combat moves too, so each of the Spidermen have that something 'extra' that makes them fun to play. Back when I read Marvel, SM 2099 was my fave, but herein, Noir SM is pretty awesome his missions require stealth and tactics where the others tend to punch and throw disgusting amounts of webbing. We also get an awesome assembly of Spiderman's rogues gallery from the classic Sandman to the newer female Doctor Octopus (who has ten appendages, go figure...), Ultimate Electro, Deadpool which is hand's down the most fun you'll have playing any level and even Juggernaut. I don't want to list them all, but you end up playing the game for the same reason you read Spiderman, of any dimension: the villians.

The voice actors sound very familiar I have heard most of them perform for one Spiderman project or another. Music's top notch. The game as a whole feels very cinematic. And that also means you should watch through all the credits. At the end of the day, the game has next to no replayability, unless you want to finish missed challenges and unlock new swag. But it a fun ride through the past 15 or so years of Spiderman. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a few boxes of comics I need to dust off.

The last few Spider-Man games seemed to follow the same schtick. Taking a cue from the Grand Theft Auto games, you played in an "open world" where you could explore New York City and would have to solve so many tasks before progressing in the story. (I.E. you had to stop ten robberies, five gang fights, etc). It was fun but after a while it started to get a little tired repeating the exact same tasks over and over.

In that regard, Shattered Dimensions is a refreshing change of pace in that it follows a more linear narrative. The plot is nothing special; Mysterio attempts to steal some sacred tablet, causes a big mishap in which the tablet breaks off into different realities. Thus, each Spider-Man from a different reality has to find their pieces of the tablet before its too late. In the process, various supervillains attempt to steal various pieces to augment their powers. It's just an excuse to get play as the different Spideys, which is good enough for me. There's the standard red-blue Spidey, the teenaged 'Ultimate' Spidey (who is given the black symbiote suit to make him stand out from his older counterpart), the futuristic one from the year 2099 and last but not least the darker 'Noir' Spidey.

The highlight of the game for many is the different types of Spideys you can play as. There different animation styles present to give each character a different 'feel' and your abilities vary. When you get past the different looks, three out of the four Spideys all feature similar type of gameplay with considerably minor differences (I.E. Ultimate Spidey's symbiote makes him stronger when he's enraged). The levels that stuck out for me and were the definite highlight of the game were the Noir levels. All the colors are sepia toned which give it a real unique atmosphere in comparison to the other universes (which were more traditional in appearance), and the Spider-Man character is significantly different for the player. You are much more vulnerable to bullets, so you have to hide in the shadows and web up crooks without getting caught. To be honest, this is pretty much directly copying Arkham Asylum's Batman, but I didn't care. I got the impression that the makers had the most fun designing this part of the game, and I'd love to see more games in the 'Noir' universe.

Each level follows the same formula. You fight the villain's thugs and finish some tasks (I.E. rescuing hostages or disarming shields), then you fight the boss once. He escapes, you do more tasks, and then you face the villain when he's more powerful thanks to the Tablet. I don't want to say it's repetitive as there's plenty of variety in the different types of tasks and visual style for the levels, but there were times when I felt deja vu.

The voice acting is pretty good. Once again taking cues from Arkham Asylum, each Spider-Man is played by a voice actor who did Spidey for an animated series. As someone who grew up on the 90s cartoon, seeing Christopher Daniel Barnes in particular again was a real treat. As a fan of the cancelled-too-soon Spectacular Spider-Man, it was nice seeing Josh Keaton as well (playing the teenaged 'Ultimate Spider-Man' appropriately).

In the end I'd say it's worth a rental. I'm hardly an expert gamer and I was able to finish it one weekend with only a moderate level of difficulty. Still, I had a fun time doing so and I didn't feel my time was wasted. It's worth checking out at the very least.

I can't believe how cheap this price is! Fourteen bucks for GTAIV, a huge lockbox, AND an artbook? The game alone is 19 dollars on Amazon. I had no idea the lockbox was so big! This will be a nice addition to anyone's library. The lockbox is nice and sturdy and comes with two keys. The game is the red game of the year edition but I mainly wanted it for the lockbox and artbook. The artbook is big and nicely made with lots of glossy pages. I recommend this to anyone looking for a good deal!

Fantastic deal for a copy of the game and the lockbox/artbook. The lockbox could be easily broken into, but it is not meant to be a safe and it is still very solidly built. PS3 version can hold 8-10 PS3 games depending on how tightly you want to squeeze them in. Great deal!

I didn't really want the lockbox or art booklet thing, but this bundle was on sale and I wanted the game. The game is great, as most of the reviews already say, and provides hours of entertainment even if you never care to finish all the missions.

The lockbox is useful I suppose as more of a novelty thing, but nothing more.
