I was a little concerned when I first ordered this product for a few reasons. I was running my component cables through my Yamaha receiver but simply ran out of room. I have a 64inch widescreen HDTV and was fearful anything less expensive would result in a poor connection/signal. I was pleasantly mistaken. This would easily be worth the original $99 price, but becomes a no brainer with it at only $63. I use it for my DVD player, my XBOX 360 with HDDVD player and my PS3. All of them have no loss in picture quality. Trust me on my 64inch TV it would be easy to catch. It also supports older connections for video and I would imagine since they are less of a signal that there wouldn't be a problem. I was also impressed it has inputs for digital audio as well as ethernet connections. It has everything but HDMI. It even comes preprogrammed with names of every game system and video device on the market.

My only reccommendation would be to ditch the included component cable and replace it with a better quality one. I'm not sure how they would work but my review is with a Monster cable as they looked pretty cheap. Since they were included though who cares?

EDIT:

Well my foot went in my mouth after writing this review. I should have used it longer as i discovered that it isn't as good as I had thought. When I began watching DVDs and playing more games (PS3 and 360) I soon realized that the picture signal became distorted. It seems as though it has more difficulty during action scenes for some reason, but also was distorted at the opening credits of some DVDs/ games. I ran the cables back to my TV and Yamaha receiver without further problem. I just sent this back and am waiting on the refund. Hopefully nobody used my review and made the same mistake I did. Sorry.

The format of the switch is great, and it is too bad that (at least through component cables) it is not compatible with the Wii. That's because it loses video sync on extremely bright signals, like the Wii's pure-white menu.

It also appears to blow-out the highlights of DVD video sources, and loses sync on over-bright video signals from DVD as well.

So basically, I am returning this unit and trying to find something that does not interfere with my component imagery.

For the price it cannot be beat. Good for organizing multiple game systems. Wished it had a few more ports for my other game systems I have.

I'm running a Wii, XBox 360, PS2, Dreamcast, and Mac Mini through it and all work fine. I've never seen the problems some other reviewers mention with bright screens and losing sync, so perhaps there are several hardware revisions in the market. There are a few bells and whistles that could have been done better: you can assign any of a long list of source names to each input, but you can't add user-entered names, so the Wii will always show up as 'Gamecube,' and the Ethernet switching is essentially useless--it's a 2-to-1 multiplexer, not a hub, so only one port will be active at a time; a five-port hub would have been tremendously more useful with modern consoles and other devices. Overall, though, it works just fine as an input selector. There's a barely perceptible loss of sharpness compared to going directly into the receiver; I only notice it with things like text windows on the Mini, and never when playing a game or watching a video.

First lets get the bad out of the way. This game is in Japanese with no English, so some level of understating of the Japanese language is necessary to enjoy this game fully. Being nearly deaf, I have to depend on the Japanese subtitles which is quite riddled with Kanji, so it's not exactly beginner reading. However for those with normal hearing, I think there is an option to turn on voices, so that should help considerable for those who are more familiar with the spoken language. If this doesn't scare you away from this game, then read on. If you want a small taste of a similar type of game in English, I recommend checking out 'Attack of The Friday Monsters, A Tokyo Tale,' for the N3DS. Though not identical, the game-play and art style is very similar.

Boku No Natsuyasumi 3 is a wonderful game that would be worthwhile to check out by fans of games like Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon. In it, you play a young boy who is going to spend his summer vacation with his Uncle's family on his father side while his parents are getting ready for the arrival of a new baby. Each day of the game passes much like the days pass in Harvest Moon. At it's heart, this is really a game about reliving childhood, goofing off and doing all the carefree things a child of this age would do, such as fishing, catching bugs, exploring, playing with friends and helping out on his Uncle's farm. In fact there are so many things to find and do in this game that I feel it would risk spoiling the fun to mention any more than the basics.

Graphically this game is a delight to the eyes. It remind me very much of Studio Gibli's movies, so if you're a fan of those, then this game will make you feel like you're the protagonist in a Gibli film. I can't really be an authority on the sounds of the game because as I mentioned before, I am hearing impaired, but what I can hear has been very charming.

One thing I should mention is that I bought my game new for $40. With a bit of searching, it's not particularly hard to find this game around that price, maybe even cheaper if you are lucky. Unless you like throwing money away, beware of import scammers.

If the Japanese doesn't scare you and you enjoy life simulation style games, then I highly recommend this one. At worse, if you're a student of Japanese, but find this game to be above your level, you'll have a cool game to put on your game shelf that you'll eventually be able to pull out and enjoy someday.

There simply are not many games out there like this. I honestly did not know what to expect when I downloaded the coop demo for this. The banner add had said 'Cyberpunk Action,' and that got my attention. I wouldn't say I am an avid follower of the genre, but there is some interesting stuff that falls under that banner (Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell, Deus Ex, the Matrix, etc). Once it was downloaded and installed though, within an hour I knew I had to own the game.

I had my reservations, and my experience with the game (so far) has largely confirmed that this is far from a perfect title, but it is still an awful lot of fun. I will break this down into different segments, rating each section with the number of stars I would give it out of 5 in each of those sections. There's a mix of good and not-so-good here, and I will try to outline those things as I see them for the sake of those who might consider buying this game.

I will start by saying this is a game unlike most first person shooters you will play. Yes, ultimately you shoot the bad guys, but there is a greater level of complexity to it than that in Syndicate since your character has a computer chip implanted in his head had he can use that chip to alter the actions of people around him, to effect the environment by activating different systems, or to cause equipment malfunctions. How and when you use these abilities can greatly effect your experience in the game, much more so than tossing grenades.

GRAPHICS ****

I suppose its is mostly tradition that would have me start with graphics, though by this point in video games, we are reaching a point where most people are pretty happy with most of the things they look at. Syndicate does manage to look pretty good and create its own visual style. So many games out there are made with the Unreal engine (with a few tweaks) and they largely end up looking good, but similar. Syndicate manages not to do this in a number of ways, though not all of them are good. I shall start with the positives. The game has a nice color pallet, one that fits with most cyberpunk feel. There are a lot of greys and blacks, with technology standing apart with very vivid colors.

This game also loves light blooms, sometimes to the point where you can't see much but light, but I would say that it has never been a bad experience since it feels like when that happens, it is supposed to be there for more cinematic reasons. Similar to this, there are a lot of parts of this game that feature very strong colored light sources, and this is also used to good effect. There are directional lights and certain areas where external light just peaks through little cracks and is really rendered very, very well. All things considered, I would say the lighting is superb in this game, and probably one of its best visual strengths.

Where perhaps Syndicate falls a little short is some of the textures and models. For the most part, I think they did a very solid job with designing the look of this game, and the models themselves have aesthetic qualities that fit very nicely into the setting they are trying to create, the guns look superb, but there are going to be some times where it looks like they were models have noticeably low texture qualities or the complexity of the model itself looks somewhat dated (polygon count).

This game features a rather large amount of information on the screen other than just what you are shooting at (aka Heads up display or HUD). This is bucking the trend of other games, where the trend is definitely 'less is more.' I personally think they did it in a very stylish and enjoyable sort of way, but I know some of my friends have been less than impressed with how much stuff there is to look at including: other players health, their abilities, a very brief combat log, pictures, names, enemy labels, enemy life bars, blood, your ammunition, your abilities, and so on (or actually that might be it). I especially enjoy how the HUD is not fixed to your TV. It floats around a little as you move, which makes it feel more natural, but again, it is not for everyone.

STORY **

I will talk briefly on this subject because there is not much to say. The story for Syndicate is not bad, but it is certainly not very good either. I would describe the writing as somewhat lazy, uninspired, or perhaps most aptly "just there." This actually isn't that uncommon for Cyberpunk as a genre. You could call it a dangerous trap but the characters around you in this game are not all that interesting. In fact, the script doesn't go to any attempt to make them interesting or even all that human or relate-able. Now this is kind of unfortunate for those people who were fans of the original Syndicate series, but honestly if you're playing this game, you are playing a first person shooter made by EA. Chances are pretty good that you've experienced this sort of 'serviceable plot' before. Its probably not going to do anything to really piss you off, and at times it can be even kind of engaging just from an action point of view, but you're probably not going to write home about what a great story this is or even remember the characters names.

I would say if you are purchasing this for the purposes of just wanting to play the story line, since it is relatively short and not all that interesting, you should seriously consider renting this title or at least waiting until the price had dropped significantly.

GAMEPLAY/CONTROLS ****

Syndicate delivers a very stable and polished gameplay experience. There won't be any/many times where you are frustrated with the way that the game is behaving from a control or interaction point of view. As a general game design critique, I might offer that in most of the game, your choices for how to get from point A to point B is pretty limited in the geographical sense. This is in some ways made up for by other mechanics in the game. The breaching techniques (your computer mind-powers) you use can change your game experience, and perhaps how you get through these sections.

The controls for this game are solid, and it responds in a very enjoyable sort of way. Now, I won't pretend that everyone is going to love this, because the gun movement is a little sloppy. This is pulled off smoothly and consistently, and with the way you raise, lower, and move your gun to shoot around object, I assume this was an intentional thing to try to better emulate how people really hold guns. Your aim seems to easily fly off course because this game doesn't strafe or change directions in the sort of crisp, clean manner we have all been accustomed to since Doom II. If you are familiar with the sort of clumsy, human movement of the original Killzone 2--before the first patch `fixed' it--and you liked that feel, there is some of that here, though it is not quite as disorienting.

There are buttons you will need to get used to because there are things you can do in this system this sort of setting that you cannot do in most other games. The use of the D-Pad to control most of the Dart 6 overlay and the R2/L2 buttons is a good choice. The only button I struggled to find, originally, and this is because I don't play a whole lot of other EA first person shooters, was the alternate fire select, which happens to be the down button. Once you figure that one out, everything else seems to be pretty standard. Every gun (or just about all of them) in this game does have an alternate fire option, which is neat.

One thing about this game, there are times, particularly when you are fighting other agents, that the difficulty gets ramped up in a significant, noticeable, and ultimately fatal way. It was frustrated with one part in particular. There are other parts that I could see being very frustrating too because of this. Basically, being able to breach/hack things creates a bit of a learning curve and puts you at a disadvantage more so in 'the boss fights' than it is an advantage otherwise.

SOUND ***

There are some things that I really love about the sound in this game and there are some things that kind of stand out. I think it is only fair to compare this to other titles that come out for other companies that are (at least in theory) first rate developers, so that sets the bar pretty high. Probably the most important thing about a first person shooter and sound is that the guns sound believable and the environments react with the appropriate sounds as well. Check. This game does that pretty well. There is really no part of firing a gun in this game that I can complain about. It looks great. It sounds great. It feels great.

The soundtrack to this game is actually a combination of original music by Skrillex--which is very appropriate and fun in the context--and some other music of the classical variety for some of the background music. It actually fits in the scenes, and actually having a gunfight while you hear a dainty piano concerto works at one point in the game. The music, in other words, is also a plus.

Where the game doesn't do such a great job is in the voice acting (in parts) and in the mixing. This game actually features Brian Cox, who just has a great voice and is a well practiced and talented voice actor. He does a good job. Some of the smaller parts and lesser actors around him do not, and his solid performance kind of highlights some bad editing or timing, and some mixing oversights. There should have been a little more attention paid to trying to make the voices sound like they fit within the space any particular scene was shot in. If a room has ambient noises that make it sound like it is sparse, slightly echoing, and very open, then the actors should not sound like they are in a 6 by 10 sound booth. This doesn't kill any of the scenes, granted, but in other words, this could be better.

MULTIPLAYER *****

This game features an online multi-player cooperative mode. This isn't the same as the story mode in even a small way. For now it looks like not-quite-a-dozen boards that can be played with 1-4 players. Unless you are amazing, I would always suggest four players on anything harder than a normal difficulty level, because the game does not scale the encounter for the number of players, at least not enough that I have been able to notice.

The multiplayer is a great time for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that it is much more wide open than the single player levels. Strangely, there aren't as many issues with textures that I have found on the multiplayer games either. The missions are, never-the-less, straight forward, and probably last about 10-15 minutes, depending on how well you do. There are multiple levels of difficulty, and things start to ramp up in difficulty pretty quickly, so you are sure to have a lot of opportunities to play through this enjoyably. The demo could give you a very good feel for how this game actually works online.

I really can't say enough nice things about this game and its multiplayer, and the only thing that I can say about it that I don't like is that it uses a peer-to-peer hosting system. This type of system is not bad for up to 4 players, but sometimes you get some interesting lag, and if you are like me, your system doesn't host so well.

UPDATES

According to the creators, they are going to be doing something on every 1st and 15th of the month. I am not sure what that is at this point, but it sounds like there could be a good amount of additional content coming which would be great to see in a game that is enjoyable and has so much potential.

Overall Impressions and Closing Thoughts

In my opinion, the multiplayer really makes this game. I am not usually the type to be sucked into just that area of the game, but really those missions are fantastic and my friends and I have already enjoyed playing quite a few matches on the demo, and now in the real game. I have recommended that people try the demo just to experience how much fun this can be, and many of the people I have suggested do that have also gone on the buy the game, but not all.

I would consider this game, ultimately a bit of a niche game. If you are a big fan of Cyberpunk, you know there isn't a lot of stuff out there that fits into the genre. I would say this game represents the genre fairly well. The writing may not be great, but the feel is pretty excellent, and it is well executed. If you aren't sure what cyberpunk is, if you like Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell, Deux Ex, or the Matrix, this might be worth a good long look at. The same could be said for someone who is just looking for something a little different than all of the other stuff out there.

If you're in this for the Multiplayer, I could see paying full price for it. It is certainly as fun as games like Payday, Dead Island, or Left for Dead. I have a feeling the second hand price for this game will come down pretty sharply within the next 2 months though because this game isn't for everyone. If you are in this game for the single player, I would rent it or wait.

This review will focus solely on the single player aspect of the game, as I have yet to delve into the co-op multiplayer (which I've heard is also great, but will wait to form my own opinion).

I will preface this review by stating my fondness for "cyberpunk" and sci-fi in general. With its narrative, Syndicate draws from some shining examples of those genres (e.g. Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell, The Matrix) to combine them and make an interesting take on technology and corporate greed with no limits. While Syndicates story fairly formulaic within its genre, where the game excels at storytelling is through its visual design and interpretation of its world. You take on the role of an augmented corporate "Agent" whose duty it is to preform extreme acts of corporate sabotage. Utilizing enhancements to your body (a mild RPG mechanic that allows you to choose an ability upgrade certain intervals in the story) your able to augment your performance and "bend" the game to your play style. Everything is presented in a slick and futuristic way both through the use of great art and heads up display.

Gameplay sees your Agent (You) for example: Running into a room, enemies start to pour in, How do you handle it? Well one way would be to "Persuade" (An ability) an enemy to turn traitor against his own and fight against you, then activate your DART system (effectively "bullet time" in the game) and take out the enemies along side your new ally. DART allows for customization and therefore lets you adapt it to your style of play. Its essentially letting you live out your version of "The Matrix" in a game (minus the flying and karate, lol). Essentially making your think (pretty quickly) when you enter a room of bad guys. If you mess up checkpoints are fairly generous and personally I am playing on "Hard" and not having too much trouble.

If your a fan of Sci-Fi, and First Person Shooters, I really can't recommend this game enough. Its got If fun, fast paced, surrounds your with fantastic graphics and slick scenes and is a blast to play. I heartily recommend it. If you have any specific questions about the single player game let me know in the comments and I'll do my best to answer.

Many gamers wonder... what?? ANOTHER FPS?? WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?? What happened to the old Syndicate??

Admittedly, this is the nail to the coffin for the old style Syndicate that we enjoyed in our childhoods. But I am also glad they evolved to make something different.

At first glance, yes it is an FPS. (WHAT?? I rather play MW3 or BF3... ??) Hold your horses, the emphasis is different.

The campaign is fun but is not the real point of the game. This game is made for multiplayer. And the producers made sure to make this game different from the regular FPS.

First off, Co-op campaign mode. This is admittedly fun, and make up a large chunk of the whole game. It is well designed and very entertaining, with its own storyline. It is very hard to find a game with good co-op campaign.

Second, multiplayer online feels very different from run and gun. Teamwork is very important if you want your team to win. I shall not say too much to repeat what online reviewers are already saying, but that is the direction the game is heading.

Overall, it plays more like Left4Dead than Call of Duty. So, no, it is "not another FPS". Many people who had negativity towards the game changed their minds after trying the multiplayer demo.

So do not judge this game too fast. Try it/rent it/play the demo if you are not sure. You might actually enjoy it.

This is a pretty cool game. Graphics are very nice. Sound is excellent, from the guns to the background music.

I played the SP Campaign. It is pretty good. I thought it would have a multiplayer slant, but no, you play alone in the single player campaign, which is good. The SP Campaign takes around 8 hours or so, faster if you co-op (battles will be shorter). The firefight battles are a lot of fun!

The AI will use cover and shoot you well. If they have numbers, the enemy will horde you; I usually die to the 4th or 5th guy while I am reloading the key is to move so they do not death charge you. The enemy seems to know when you are lined up for a shot; just do not aim and hit DART Overlay R2, then aim, when they move into view. Many firefights are rather tough, the enemy just keeps coming! And, of course, the mini-bosses they are invulnerable until you use L2 (breach) on them.

There are a lot of different guns, and you get the chance to use all of them if you want to. They sound good. This is one heckuva shooter! You will get a good workout with Syndicate.

The main thing for this game is your chip implant which gives cool powers. The DART Overlay, for example, slows down time for everyone else and gives added defense. You can get upgrades and augmentations for your chip, adding powers like regeneration, extra health, and so on very nice. Of course, you have to take a boss's chip to get the upgrades. Some of the bosses are pretty tough, as well.

Moving through the non-action levels is tricky. The path is not laid out nicely. You have to think to get through. I was stumped quite a few times.

I could not finish the game. I was locked out of the final room. I could not get the door to open. You have to use L2 REALLY fast twice, on two different targets , and it just would not open for me. Darn, was SO CLOSE to the end, too. That is ok, trophies are horrible for this game (finishing the game is a Bronze, so I am not out much. Oh, and there are NO Silvers, just 4 Gold, 46 Bronze, and the Platinum.)

Overall, this game has a Sci-Fi/Cyperpunk feel to it. It is pretty good.

EDIT: DOH! Just use DART Overlay to open the door! Sheesh, I feel silly :)

Graphics were good; however, it was bit drawn in at certain points. The story line was bland at best. They gave you miniguns at points where you may only have to kill an enemy or two, but did not give you enough ammo when you were ambushed by a hoard of enemies. The boss fights were just annoying most of the time. With all that being said, there was a few good points about the abilities such as persuade and other abilities that help you take out your enemies. The game play is choppy and not as smooth as other shooters I have played. I could not recommend this game to anyone as the abilities in the game do not make up for its downfalls.

I absolutely love fighting games, the Persona series, and Arc System Works, the masterminds behind Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, so naturally one would think this game would be a smash hit. Technically it is, where in Japan it's become the number one selling fighting game in recent years, and if there's anything to be learned from that it's that fighting games aren't dead, despite the lack of "commercial" accessibility.

Luckily, ASW addresses that issue in Persona 4 Arena, which became almost instantly identifiable when I jumped into Challenge mode with Akihiko. I was expecting a GG or BB control scheme, complete with all sorts of different attacks for a single button that can be performed through simple directional inputs (e.g. 2C, 5C, 6C), which consequently opens the doors to long combo chains. Although that's quite fun, ASW left that system in those games and simplified things considerably here.

And by simplified, I mean that during the early days of this game's cycle you'll probably see a lot of players online spamming Auto Combos, which certainly look impressive and would be more difficult to perform normally, but as you can plainly see by the notation (a string of five A attacks, for example) the combo is pretty braindead. Before you shake your head in dismay, though, remember Marvel also has braindead combos (and characters), and it's a game that's easy to grasp yet hard to master. And as far as impressions go on day one of release, Persona 4 Arena seems that way as well.

Persona 4 Arena looks, plays, and feels in almost every way like an ASW title. It has multiple single player modes, such as a comprehensive tutorial, challenge mode, extremely robust story mode (understatement of the year!), and a training mode with more bells and whistles than you can shake a stick at. The SP meter (super meter) is identical to BB, not just in how it's measured but also in how you build it; there is a burst system; you can combo after throws; and you have two Persona normals that feel like a Drive attack in BB. One cool aspect of the Persona attacks, though, is that your Persona has a health bar, too, in the form of four cards which if depleted deactivate it for about 10 seconds. This is huge. Several attacks and combos rely on Personas, and some characters are useless without their Persona. Think of the implications this could have in matches and tournaments.

Despite the heavy ASW flavor so far, Persona 4 Arena's attack buttons aren't as multi-purposed as other titles from the company. As mentioned previously, A, B, C, and D for the most part all have one attack without multi-directional counterparts, which is actually a really nice departure that simplifies combat a lot. There's one weak and one strong attack; one weak and one strong Persona attack; and a sweep performed by hitting down, plus A and B. Simple, right? Another unique feature is Furious Actions, which is just a combination of B and D at the same time. For some characters this is a simple DP (Dragon Punch), for others it's a counter, but what makes it interesting is that it reduces your HP slightly (which auto recovers, though) and usually has significant recovery (but can be used in combos if used properly). All Out Attacks are also somewhat unique, but for the most part feel like modified versions of Dust attacks in GG. This is basically an attack that hits once and sends the opponent spinning backwards allowing you to follow up with a launcher or a "grounder," both of which allow for combos afterward. You simply hit A and B and viola, you have an All Out Attack.

What also makes the game unique is probably the most obvious aspect, and that would be the Persona characters which will immediately guarantee a sale for any diehard Persona fan even if he/she isn't into fighting games. The same trend happened when BlazBlue released in 2009; plenty of anime fans flocked to the game because of its visual aesthetics and elaborate story mode, the latter of which not typically associated as a strong suit for fighting games. The Persona writing staff is luckily on board for this title, though, and with that comes certain expectations in terms of quality and content, which have been exceeded with leaps and bounds as far as I can tell so far, since this is after all a proper sequel to Persona 4.

Despite all this, however, the game's strong suits may be its undoing. As popular as Persona may be, it is still a niche series made even more niche by becoming a fighting game, a pill that gets harder to swallow when you have to master combos and fighting game techniques such as footsies and spacing which can be grueling trials of endurance for a novice player. After story mode has been completed, the sheen might fade and diehard fans might not be compelled to play online despite the numerous tools ASW has provided to make any fight a button mashing affair. Of course, I hope I'm wrong, but we saw it happen to BlazBlue; hopefully, ASW will find a way to keep the game fresh, and the community will find a way to make it relevant because it would be a shame for such a gem to fade into obscurity as countless other amazing games have.

Let me start with a simple statement; I'm a fan of JRPGs, and have never tried to play a fighting game seriously before. While I did enjoy my time with one of Ark System Works' older titles, Blazblue: Calamity Trigger, my number one reason for buying this game is because I'm absolutely in love with the Persona series. Both Persona 3 and 4 rank among my favorite games, and I bought Persona 4 Arena hoping that it would serve as a neat little continuation of Persona 4's story. What I got was completely different.

As someone who bought the game primarily for its story, I can say with certainty that Persona 4 Arena's plot does not disappoint. Rather than serve as a small continuation of Persona 4, Arena's plot utilizes the well-established casts of both Persona 3 and 4 to tell an all new story filled with mystery, twists, and even some heart-wrenching moments. The story on display here is very, very good.

There's definitely more to a fighting game than its story, however, and the game absolutely shines in the gameplay department as well. Being a tad more simplistic than other serious fighting games like Blazblue, Street Fighter, and Tekken, Persona 4 Arena is both more accessible to newcomers than those games, and just as because of its unique game mechanics. While new players will be able to get by using the simple auto-combo the game has, playing online (which plays beautifully, by the way) will force you to learn timing, combos, and how to play mind games using your Persona and character-specific moves. It's an absolute blast to play.

I've been playing the game for hours on end, and still haven't even tried some of the modes yet; even for $60, this game is well worth the price. There's a ton of content that'll keep you occupied for at least 30 hours, and for a fighting game, that's damn impressive.

Arena really is as good as a fighting game can be, in my eyes. A well-sized, balanced list of characters, a stellar story, fantastic gameplay, and an awesome soundtrack all culminate to make an experience you don't want to miss.

Buy Persona 4 Arena Now

Persona 4 Arena overall is a fun and great game. It's a perfect balance of having gameplay mechanics that are friendly to the casuals but it does not take away the competitiveness for the hardcore fighting gamers. A hardcore fighting gamer myself was at first skeptical on how simple the controls, auto-combos, etc. When I poured more hours of the game from local matches to online matches, I not only experienced the competitive flow in many matches but enjoy the game like any ordinary game should make you enjoy. You can still create your own advanced combos, strategies, even modify the button layout to your liking. The game is heavily balanced which makes it all the more fun. I recommend this game to the hardcore fighting gamers, the persona fans of the jrpg series, and I would even recommend this to total casuals. I, a persona and a hardcore fighting gamer approve of this game! Good job Atlus!

Easy to pick up, difficult to master.

I bought this game for my husband. He not only enjoys it as his favorite fighting game engine, but it's actually approachable by a non-fighting-game-player.

The music is phenomenal. The voices are great. The system is smooth and responsive.

The online matches have minimal lag, great connection speeds, and are organized very well.

First off, I want to issue a bit of a warning come in here for you folks interested in single player. Crysis 3 is short. Much shorter than Crysis 2 and the first game. However, as I write this review, having payed the full amount of cash, I usually don't say this, but here goes: I'm glad I payed the crazy amount of money for Crysis 3. Crysis 3 has made this Crysis fan THIS happy. There is tons of replay value in its excellent, open-ended game play, and the set pieces I found are so outstanding that I can see myself playing through them more than once. I'm more than ready to do so myself. So I'm not at all worried about the short campaign; its sheer re-playable quality over forgettable quantity! Take my word for it, Crysis fans.

In a world where generic, cookie cutter titles clutter the FPS genre, the Crysis series has always been a kick-ass counterpoint to all of the aforementioned clutter. The original Crysis is the second best FPS I've ever played (Half-Life 2 is No. 1), and the series overall is one of the best I've ever played. FPS junkies everywhere rejoice upon playing Crysis, and there's a darn good reason for it. Now, the series is back with Crysis 3, and it's as as predictably awesome as you expect. Amazing visuals, smart gun play, fantastic production values...you know the score. This is an excellent FPS, and its a wonderful continuation of the FPS genre's winning streak with 2012's brilliant Far Cry 3.

We all know the Crysis series is known for its eyeball melting visuals, and Crysis 3 is no different from previous games in the series. Let me just say that Crysis 3 looks absolutely gorgeous, and its a technical marvel to behold. What's even more amazing this time around is the art direction. Everything here just looks so inspired, telling; you feel you are truly in the jungle, and each level has a brilliant aesthetic that with each of the seven natural wonders. Oh, and as usual, sound is absolutely amazing. Explosions are devastating, gunfire sounds absolutely relentless, the Seth sound downright vicious, and the Nano-suit sound effects are empowering. The Crysis series has one of the most visceral use of sound in gaming, and Crysis 3 assaults you like it's no tomorrow. It's oh so worth it. Get your home theater/amazing computer speakers/high quality headphones ready and crank it straight to the top!

Regarding Crysis 3's story, the focused story-telling in the form of scripted sequences doesn't mean much if the content of the story doesn't match up. Fortunately, Crysis 3 has a well told and exciting story that recalls a well done summer blockbuster. This time, Prophet from Crysis returns after a twenty year period to New York City. The city has been taken over by Cell Corporation and converted NYC into a large Eco-dome in order to use the city as a land and technology grab. Through manipulation and whitewashing, Cell Corporation has successfully put into practice their plans of world domination, and hereby looms the end of the world as well. Meanwhile, protagonist must deal with the impending threat and fight his own struggles as a nano-soldier. Fans who followed the tales of their favorite nano-suit soldiers from the beginning will be satisfied by the story. As a fan of the series, I count myself amongst the satisfied. Yeah, Crysis 3 is stellar on the non-game play front in every way.

Now, for game play. Crysis 3 aims to take influences from the best aspects of the two previous titles, while cutting out the worst of each. It merges the focused storytelling of the second game with the emergent sandbox tactics the first game provided. The levels are much more sand boxed based than the second game, which gives the player a greater amount of combat freedom. Second hand, there are many game play choices and tweaks that make the game much more smooth. Finally, Crysis 3 ends up throwing some all new things into the mix the Crysis series hasn't seen before. It's quite an amazing melange of game play mechanics, and in conjunction, Crysis 3 feels incredibly cinematic but never takes away your control during combat. As long as you are playing the game on the highest difficulty (and you should be), there's so much game play meat to Crysis 3. It's an utter joy to play, again and again.

Crysis 3 shares similar controls and mechanics to Crysis 2. although you can now spring without reservations. The new Seph weapons are awesome, and being able to collect upgrades for the nano-suit adds an awesome level of bodily customization (being able to tweak and customize your various abilities). The Bow is probably the most advertised feature of Crysis 3, and its awesome. While definitely a stealth component, using it as an offensive weapon is very possible, due to its multiple ammunition. It doesn't replace all of your other weapons (ammo is much too scarce), but it adds a definite amount of strategy. Being able to shock people, kill enemies in clusters, and snipe without draining your suit offers for some incredibly fun. Finally, I can't forget the fact you can hack turrets in order to take out enemies for you (hint: when hacking, use cloak). There's a ton of new systems at hand, and being able to use all of these within the game adds a ton of tactical options that solidify Crysis as one of the best FPS series around.

Level design in particular is excellent, and a big improvement over the second. This is where Crysis 2 was lacking in my opinion, because as we all know the sandbox style level design was toned down severely in comparison to the first. Here, I feel that they have found that excellent sweet spot that let's you have player agency, but still focuses you down a controlled path. This is easily my favorite I want to let it known though, is that Crysis 3 has numerous level layouts, with both sandbox battlefields and tight corridors; and everything in between. Frankly, I see nothing wrong with variety. I enjoy open space as much as do tight corridors, so the variety is fine for me. It's not the go everywhere shtick of the first Crysis, but since most of Crysis was (let's be honest here) full of nothing to do, it's not a big issue. I'd say the tactical design of Crysis 3 is stellar.

Needless to say, I'm well satisfied with the results. The set pieces are awesome, and the game is best played with the desire to explore game mechanics. Taking it slow, picking off enemies, and using all that I've got (which is alot), is the best way to play this awesome game. I will be playing single player campaign missions for a long time.

MP, of course, is another part of the package. Crysis 3 uses the standard progression based MP that the industry is known for, butw hat Crysis 3 has over other shooters is the nano-suit, as well as other weapons such as the bow. All of the pretty much depends on how skilled you are with the mechanics, and those who use Crysis 3's multiple mechanics in various ways make for some interesting combat. It's a ton of fun, and it adds a ton of replay value to the overall game. I can't wait to see what hardcore Crysis players will end up doing with the Mp mode. It's life-span is hard to predict as of right now, but hopefully a community will form. Granted, I don't know, nor do I care honestly, that Crysis 3 can compete with COD or Halo. All I care about is that it's incredibly fun, so what else do you want to know (after all, popularity does NOT necessarily make something good)?

Alright, that's Crysis 3. As a huge fan of the series, I'm hugely satisfied with this. I will admit that you may want to pass this game if you don't care about Crysis (if you don't, why are you even reading this?), but for Crysis fans, I give this one my absolutely stamp of approval. It's definitely the best of both worlds when it comes to Crysis (though my favorite in the series overall is still the first game), and it's almost sublime to see where this While I do let note that the campaign is shorter than previous games, I also wouldn't lie to you when I think the single player is worth playing over and over again. I mean, one session of Crysis is simply not enough! This is definitely the best FPS released this year (so far), and other games are going to have to offer a lot in order to compete with this one.

AMAZING graphics,AMAZING characters,AMAZING weapons. stealth mode is amazing, hacking with senor is very beneficial, the senor is a gift sent from heaven,it might not seem that important in the beginning, but trust me this will be your right hand man. plus there's the multiplayer which is just great. its like any other mulitplayer with different matches and such and the game brought me "HUNTER MODE" which lets you be in the nano suit with your teammates having the suit as well were you "hunt" the enemy team (cell operatives) which create them into hunters which tips the scale in your favor.love this game haven't found any problems...other then minor lag when the game auto saves. the lag is about a second but other then that it has earned a place in my heart as one of my favortie games

You can't go too wrong with giving the player a suit packed with all sorts of fun toys like stealth, super-strength, super-speed, hacking abilities, etc. and not expect them to have fun. At its core Crysis 3 is built around giving the player a big playground to play around in where they feel both powerful but still vulnerable enough to keep the challenge up. One of the big additions of this game is the new compound bow and it is just an absolute joy to use. In fact I almost exclusively used the bow without relying on guns at all. Mostly because the bow was just that much fun to use. And it introduces some new tactical elements since though the bow is a 1-shot wonder, it's not very common to find new arrows. So you have to sneak around to go get the arrows you've already used on fallen enemies.

The alien Ceph also introduce their own unique challenge and keep the action exciting and fresh with a mix of enemy types. I don't think the overall story is anything too memorable personally, but I can easily overlook that just given how much fun it is to play through all the various action scenes. They easily carry the game and are what sell it. The multi-player is alright, though to be honest I didn't spend much time on it just because of other games I wanted to play. Its all pretty standard from what I could tell with deathmatch and the like, but with a couple unique ones with mercenaries vs. a crysis-suit player. If you want to be a super-powered cyborg with an even cooler bow to go hunting with, definitely consider picking up this game. I guarantee the first time you go hunting with the bow you'll have a smile on your face.

I have played Crysis since the first one, and have felt that the series has strengths and weaknesses. As time goes on and this series tries to refine itself, it does tend to be more generic with each new iteration.

On the PS3, the game had plenty of options that impressed me.

I like some of the things they've done under the hood and how they have refined the control scheme so that you simply "do" what you want without having to fumble around with a bunch of options.

The story was not immersive, and toward the end game, I really didn't care for any of the characters.

The use of the f-word was ridiculous and is at least 40% of the reason I traded this game, take it or leave it. I spent a great deal of time with the TV muted not to have to listen to Psycho.

The game was technically beautiful, but there was no emotion, no feeling to the work. (Though not the same genre, consider Bioshock or Batman that has technical *and* emotional facets.)

Overall, it was okay, but there I wouldn't recommend paying more than $20 to own this one. Corporate developers need to learn to start letting people with heart to work on these things instead of putting them through the grind mill.

including the story is either forgettable or unremarkable. But, it is mindless fun.

My expectations for this game weren't all that high going in; even after hearing some online reviewers compare the platforming experience to Ratchet & Clank games. Suffice it to say that I was more than pleasantly surprised when I actually dug into what it had to offer.

Firstly, other reviews I've seen pretty much hit the nail on the head. This game really does take some of the R&C series' best platforming mechanics and make them feel fresh; often even improving upon them with the sheer amount of inventive variety each new stage presents as the game progresses. There are also a few more comparisons to be drawn from other franchises as well; going as far as incorporating themes from games as seemingly unrelated as oldschool Tony Hawk and even God Of War.

The game controls really well, offers a wide variety of hardcore challenges for the more serious platforming fanatic, and is continually switching up the gameplay. You'll move from character to character each time you complete a level; each with their own abilities and stage stylings. Ginormica's stages are a bit like an on-rail racer. The Missing Link is true to form beat-em-up platforming. And B.O.B.'s areas are more puzzle oriented than all others. You collect DNA points in order to purchase new abilities and challenge levels as you move through the game. All of these are positive things, as each character feels unique and manages to succeed. Stages are fun to replay, and you'll want to anyway for the sake of unlocking new goodies.

Monsters vs Aliens also looks very good. The on-screen action is relentless, and the camera angles are continually shifting; giving you that same sense of visual awe that the movie produces. It's also pretty amazing how the developers managed to fit their ideas in with the actual storyline of the film. The game is also insanely cheap at the moment, and offers up some ultra-fun trophy hunting/collecting. The boss battles all look and feel fantastic. The game is rather lengthy as well.

Two things I would warn any buyer of however: The game is not your average kids game. The difficulty can be pretty unforgiving unless you're pretty familiar with platformers in general. So please note that the training wheels most children's platforming games offer up are not present here. Teens and adults are more likely to love this game than small children will be. Children should be able to handle it most of the way through. But the challenge stages are clearly meant for an older generation of gamers.

Also please be warned that the two player co-op isn't what you might expect. The second player is always Dr. Cockroach. And all that player is able to do is move a reticle around on screen, collecting and shooting things, etc. This upset me at first, because I intended to play this with a friend and wasn't expecting uneven abilities. But we ended up loving it; simply switching the first player's controller back and forth whenever one of us was better suited to taking the lead on a particular stage. It's a lot like the two player function you'll see in the Mario Galaxy games, only slightly more involved and useful.

In short, this game deserves much more attention and praise than it's received. Much like Toy Story 3, this one doesn't disappoint and manages to never feel like a cheaply made game; aimed at making a quick buck. The developers really showed this one a great deal of attention. Admittedly, it took me about twenty minutes of gameplay to really get hooked. But this was mostly due to the game throwing you headfirst into the action and immediately switching characters; all with different controlling mechanics. But once I'd play a few stages with each character, I found that I more than liked this game. I couldn't put it down. So my advice is to pick this up if you have even the slightest interest in platformers at all. For this is an inexpensive winner, hands down.

I just can't help but laugh at those sellers trying to pounce on the opportunity that the Hardened edition is currently sold out for the PS3. They jacked the price up more than double the original value for these. For those who are panicking and did not preorder these before they sold out, stop and don't fall prey to these overpriced sellers, these will be available i repeat these will be available on release day if not the days after launch day. This happens every year namely last year with MW3 and the year before with COD Black Ops, Activision is pretty good with meeting the demands of the public, what happens is Activision alots a certain retailer a number of copies initially before launch date, then resupply them with addtional copies after release day, by doing this Activision can project close to how much copies will or needs to be made (example if you mass produce a certain product but the demand is low, your going to get stuck with those in your hands). Sure you might have missed out the cool stuff that comes from preordering it but the most important aspects of the game is still included, if you missed out on preordering the Hardened edition for the PS3, my advice is keep an eye out for these on launch day or days after on big retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, Target or Gamestop. They get the most copies and restocks the fastest.

PROS:

Game is extremely fun if you are a seasoned veteran. And is also fun for new comers, what I like about this game is that Treyarch did an outstanding job of making this game fair. Once you sign into multi-player they give you some important info on league play and boot camp. I definitely recommend going to boot camp because you will earn XP and level up while playing with people who also just started the game. It gets your feet wet before you go onto the real online and play with the big boys. I also like how lethal grenades are not active in the first 5 seconds of a match , NO MORE GRENADE SPAMMING. I also like how the split domination into two rounds, it makes the game fairer and not as frustrating. Overall joining a party of your friends is way easier than in previous games, and yeah the servers are down but that was expected during the first few days of a major release. Overall I am enjoying this game very much and can't wait to finish this review and go back to playing. If you're on the fence about it , I suggest you rent it first and give it a try before you buy it so you won't be disappointed but you might get hooked.

CONS:

When I pre-ordered the hardened edition from gamestop i was under the assumption that by doing this I was going to get at least some of the future DLC map packs with the challenge coins. Much to my surprise all you get from the hardened edition that you won't get in the regular one is:

Steelbook Case (which is beautiful btw)

Challenge Coins that have a code to download the Black ops 2 soundtrack and will also unlock some exclusive PS3 themes and playercards and the exclusive Camo.

Nuketown 2025 Zombies was supposed to be exclusive to this version but it seems as they are releasing it for all other players in December.

I wish that I would have done some more research because although some of these items are cool , I don't believe it justifies the $79.99 plus tax price. If you want the 4 future DLC map packs you will need to buy a BO2 Season Pass which is selling for $49.99 @ gamestop and best buy.

This was my first time ordering any special edition of a game and i was pretty excited for it having enjoyed the first black ops. the box is nice to look at, the coins, game case and the soundtrack is cool(but in order to access/download the sountrack you have to sign up for a call of duty account), but the game itself isnt good. the game freezes a lot (froze my ps3 3 times within one hour and i had to do the hard restart), sometimes the audio goes out and it sounds like a garbled mess, zombies was kind of a let down (the maps felt very small and crowded),multiplayer seems like the same (stupid foul-mouth kids running rampant and hackers galore) but the pick 10 system seems good and i like most of the maps (my favorite being nuketown 2025).

The one thing i loved the most about black ops that was ruined for me in black ops 2 was combat training, you see im one of the few people who dont play multiplayer cause of the two reasons stated earlier, so i would usually play combat training as an alternative and i really enjoyed it on the first black ops. but now ct has been merged with the multiplayer and you can no longer play against bots now you have to play against human players, which once again ruins things for me but at least i can play against bots on local mp or custom games.

Campaign is ok but it wasnt all that interesting and the strikeforce missions are a crappy attempt at a strategy game. all in all i regret buying this all the game as it didnt live up to the hype, the "extras" you get with it are nice but its not enough for the 80 dollar pricetag but the main problem is that even with the patch this game is still a wreck and it can destroy your ps3 with all the freezing that occurs while playing this game and i just cant risk my machine getting wrecked over it. If you HAVE to have this game at least rent it before trying to buy it let alone the hardened edition i wish i would have, but at least the box will look nice on display...

While The Force Unleashed 2 has some nice graphics, it was something of a disappointment for me. It is shorter than the first, the dialogue worse than the first, the gameplay/combat is more tedious than the first, and the story is more lacking than the first. The game really seems like a step back.

I beat the game the night I got it... in just a few hours. The first game was too short, this one is basically a joke. I don't understand the production company here... the shortness of the first game was probably the biggest complaint. Why would they make the sequel even shorter? I've played demos that were longer than this (and they were free). This is probably part of why the story suffered so much... it was too rushed and made to be a little farcical. About that:

The story is very haphazardly put together and pretty cliche, even for an IP that has many cliche game stories. All your amazing power and you are just a clone. That isn't much of a spoiler, since it's in the demo and in the first minute of the game. Are the three flashes of memory you have your own? (Yep, that's about how much development the plot has.) Well, let's not bother with that yet -let's just save the girl we think we might have fallen for in 10 minutes flat (hey, we beat Anakin's record!) and we might have maybe left behind when we may have sacrificed ourselves in that event that might have happened to us. Why not, it'll be fun right? What makes the story even worse is the awful dialogue. I got so sick of hearing Kota gripe that I wasn't doing something fast enough. His inane instructions were equally annoying, because I always knew what needed to be done before he opened his mouth.

The combat starts out feeling smooth and fun. Some of the controls are slightly, very slightly, better than the first game. This game takes a step back, however, in that combat becomes repetitive very quickly. You basically only fight 4 baddies -regular/flying troopers, shock troopers, force users, and robots. These are all recycled throughout the game. You basically have an "I-win" button as well, with the grapple. Doing it over and over gets incredibly boring, however. There is at least one memorable moment in the first boss fight, but you'll soon be forgetting it when you get back to the repetitive stuff. I also noticed that on the PS3 the game lags up quite a bit whenever there is a lot going on. This happened during regular fighting as well as on the final boss fight. Nothing says awesome when a Jedi gets up close and personal only to start stuttering. Still, there were some moments that made me think "hmm, that's kinda neat". The parts of the game where you are falling and using force powers to deflect or blow up stuff in your way was actually enjoyable.

You would think with a game so short, it would be difficult to become bored. It still happened, at least for me. So, despite the couple of not-quite-saving-graces the game has, I would say it is worth a rental. If you don't get your hopes up too high you might have a bit of fun... but you won't get $60 worth.

I loved Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and my only complaint was with how short it was. I was hoping that would be corrected in the second game. Well, the time it took to beat The Force Unleashed II was different than the first one, but not for the better. Game play in the sequel is only about 5 to 6 hours. This just should not happen for a $60 game. It is a huge ripoff in my opinion and for more than for just the short play time too. They showed Yoda and Boba Fett in videos for the game, but they show up in cut scenes only for about 3 minutes of screen time. Much like the first game, everything is very repetitive and you fight the same characters over and over again. It is a blast playing a game like this with force powers and there are many things they could do that will make your jaw drop, but they just did the bare minimum to get your money. There are much better games that provide you a good value for your money. This one is a rental only.

I really enjoyed the Force Unleashed despite all of its flaws. What the game lacked in polish, it made up for in a storyline that I really enjoyed.

Fast forward to the Force Unleashed II. Most of the control issues have been fixed. A lot of the graphical hiccups have been adjusted as well. The game looks and plays very well, but not great no wear near the level of a game like God of War III. The force powers have been upgraded, dual lightsabers look great and sith fury is just awesome. The targeting system has been vastly upgraded, so there is less blasting plants or walls when you are trying to hit an enemy. At the same time, you still get trapped in your animations and can be carried away from enemies or off of ledges. Even with those gripes, there is far more polish here than on the original.

Unfortunately, the story is sadly lacking. Where I was compelled to see what happened, excited to see familiar faces and square off with The Emperor; here it was just kind of...meh.

Many of the reviews claim the game can be completed in 5-6 hours. That is true, on easy, not completing many of the "tasks" to fully complete the game. That said; if you're not into trophy collections and collecting various items for your costume, combos, etc., Force Unleashed II is probably a rental. If you enjoy playing through several times to get every last dime out of your purchase and don't mind waiting for the inevitable DLC or must own all things Star Wars, than this is a nice addition to the catalogue. Good, not great, wholly unremarkable.

Plays like a dream

Big bosses

Not too hard

Cons-

Way too short

Camera can sometimes cause a problem, sometimes, but not too often

Liner

Not alot of choice

In the end it is a rent, but a good rent, if u get a 30 day pass or what have u. Yes people will complain about a few things, but it is a get it though.

Even if you have to borrow it, you should check it out. I give it a 8 out of 10. 4 out of 5.
