. . .but whether or not you are truly a "wheel person" at all. The Logitech Driving Force Pro is a highly-regarded accessory for the PS2. Many serious enthusiasts of racing games will tell you that it's the only acceptable controller for the ultra-popular "Gran Turismo" and "Need for Speed" series. I'm not here to dispute any of that this is far and away the finest wheel available on the market today. However, given the number of impracticalities that come bundled with any wheel controller, anyone who's not a purist should honestly consider whether or not they'll get enough return on this hefty investment.

The chief impracticality is that any wheel must be anchored to something absolutely immovable in order to get the full effect out of it and how many among us happen to have a chair directly in front of the TV that is angled like a car seat AND a table in front of it that's oddly enough taller than a coffee table but shorter than a dining table? Exactly almost no one. Why do you think that stands custom-made for the Driving Force Pro sell on EBay for $80 and entire steel-framework cockpits with pre-set mounts are available at $500+ per? Your only other alternatives are to cook up a half-solution yourself. I've read how other reviewers have crafted lap desks out of boards or modified TV tables to be sturdier, but again, it raises my chief concern with any wheel controller: will you use/enjoy it enough to put in the extra money and effort necessary to properly use it?

The easiest solution is to sit on the floor and bolt the wheel to a coffee table, but that eliminates the possibility of using the pedals, which severely limits the realism. Plus, you'll feel more like an old lady hunched over the wheel about an inch from the windshield rather than a highly-skill professional guiding a performance vehicle toward the finish line. Finally, even this watered-down option won't work without cutting some foam to fit the base of the wheel; otherwise, its hard plastic will almost immediately scratch your tabletop.

The second issue is with gameplay the wheel has a very steep learning curve in the beginning. I consider myself an expert-level player in GT3, but making the switch to the wheel with GT4 almost took all of the fun out of the game for the first several days. It was difficult to even drive in a straight line, much less execute the maneuvering necessary to succeed in any worthwhile driving game. The purists will say that once mastered, it becomes second-nature just like riding a bike and that's true; however, the road to achieving that level of mastery is a frustrating one, and if you're a casual gamer who enjoys more of an arcade racing experience, the Driving Force Pro may simply be too demanding for you.

The third issue is that when you consider the wheel, the pedals, and whatever mounting apparatus you choose, it's going to eat up a lot of storage space. The pedals are even too tall to simply slide under the couch when you're not playing, so no help there. And given the number of cords (AC power, wheel-to-PS2, pedals-to-wheel) that are required, just leaving it around when not in use looks pretty sloppy and would be easy to trip over.

Once you've finally gotten your physical setup in order and gotten acclimated to using it, the wheel is excellent. It is solidly constructed and the force feedback is a real treat. The 900-degree mode offered in select games like "Gran Turismo 4" creates a new standard in realism; however, given the stoutness of the resistance in the motor and the relatively compact size of the wheel (other reviews have hit it right on the head it's sized like an Indy car, not a street car), your hands, wrists and/or forearms can get fatigued pretty quickly playing that way. Its motor is also pretty loud, which will be annoying to anyone else in the room not interested in hearing a never-ending symphony of mechanical grinding sounds.

The Driving Force Pro represents the best of the wheel controllers for both console and PC gaming. However, all but the most avid racing gamers would be hard-pressed to justify the undertaking of mounting, configuring and learning how to use the wheel on top of the steep price tag.

I wasn't very sure of my purchase at first, given the price tag on this PS2 Wheel.

As the racing game freak I am, I decided to give it a try.

A couple of years ago I bought a MadCatz racing wheel for PC, I played with it for two or three weeks, and decided that it was easier and, in fact, more fun, to play with the keyboard instead of the wheel.

This totally changed when I got the Driving Force Pro.

The looks of this wheel is the first thing that let you realize that you made a good purchase, it looks really cool, and feels comfortable in every way. It doesn't feel like a cheap wheel at all.

Hooking it up is really easy because of its clamp system, which makes it very solid if you attach ot to a table...in my case I put a board across the arms of my Tv chair and attached the wheel to it. I works pretty good like that. The pedals feel real, the brake pedal is a little harder, just like in a real car.

When you connect the wheel and restart our PS2, it automatically turns left and right and finds the center point for you.

Once playing it takes a little while to get used to it...it took me about 1 hour to start matching my times on Grand Turismo 3, and about 2 to start cutting time down.

Now I'm playing Pro Race Driver, and it can't be better...I can't wait for the release of GT4 to test this baby on 900 degree mode!.

If you are thinking about buying a racing wheel for the PS2 this is the way to go, the money you pay for it is totally worth.

There's only one thing I didn't like too much about this wheel: there's too many cables hangin' around the pedals (power, connection to the wheel, and connection to the PS2), and sometimes you get those around your legs....no big deal though, just try to put them away, on the side, and you won't have anything to complaint about.

This thing rocks when it comes to driving games. There are a few things I wish were changed though.

First, the clamping mechanism needs to open just a wee bit wider. I mean, like 1 mm. That's all I need to be able to attach the thing to a countertop. However, even having it on a countertop would not work really well, so I need to find something else to mount it to.

The other problem is the manual there really isn't one. This caused me a bit of confusion when I hooked it up the first time to play Gran Turismo 4 The thing powered on, did it's self centering, then proceeded to be ignored by the game. Only after some time spend messing around did I figure out that you need to remove the Player 1 joystick from the console when you want to use the wheel.

Other than that, this thing is killer.

I'm a wheel newbie, but I liked the looks of this wheel when I saw it in a local retail store. It's very well made and solid, and includes gas/brake pedals and a +/gearshift as well. The diameter of the wheel is a bit small, but it doesn't really detract from the experience. Besides, I've noticed Indycar wheels are small.

The wheel is a little hard to turn, feels like manual steering. But you get used to it quickly. I'd rather have some resistance instead of just a freely-spinning wheel anyway. The force feedback effects are great. In Grand Turismo 3 when your car is going close to it's limit, you can feel the car lose adhesion to the road and pull left and right irregularly. If you pop over a hill and go airbourne for a second you can realistically feel the wheel lose turning resistance.

Burnout 3 and Grand Turismo 3 are a BLAST with this wheel.

Here are my tips:

1. You must have a table or similar surface to mount it to. Something flat and around 2 or 3 inches thick and sturdy, I would guess. You cannot hold it in your lap. I've got mine mounted to a wooden chair turned sideways for now, not an ideal setup but still fun nonetheless.

2. Plug it in the top USB port on your PS2, otherwise some games will only want to use it for player 2. I don't think the picture "manual" tells you that.

3. This wheel also works on a Windows PC. Download drivers at I'm not clear whether force feedback can/will work on a PC but I tried it in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 with good results. I've heard you can get the 900 degree mode working in a PC but haven't got that far yet.

4. You'll need to plug in the wheel to a standard electric outlet, so plan for that.

All right, let my start by saying that this is indeed the best wheel on the market, but that doesn't say very much since 95% of the wheels out there suck. The Driving Force Pro and the Mad Catz MC2 are really the only ones worth paying for. If you are shopping for a wheel I'd suggest looking at the MC2 also. It is a lot cheaper and has a few better qualities than the DF Pro, although it doesn't have force-feedback or 900-degree steering.

The Driving Force Pro is Logitech's second attempt at a steering wheel for a game console. Its most notable feature is the 900 degrees of steering, which is something that no other wheel on the market has. However, the 900-degree steering is only compatible with certain games. I am not sure which yet, but I do know that Gran Turismo 4 (scheduled for release in January/February 05) will. It will automatically switch to 200-degree steering for games that do not support 900-degree. The wheel's other big feature is the force-feedback. It is a little loud, but it really brings the game to life. Since it has force-feedback it has to be plugged in, so make sure you have a free outlet.

Other features include a textured rubber grip, easily adjustable clamps for your table or set-up, very nice styling with a steel GT (Gran Turismo) logo in the center of the wheel, paddle shifters which move with the wheel, L3 and R3 buttons, a sequential stick shifter, USB connection to the PS2 (Works with PC's too, but I haven't been able to get the Force Feedback to work with it yet), and a very functional carpet gripping system for the pedals. I do have a few complaints about it. For one, the wheel is a little bit small at 10 inches in diameter. The MC2 is about 11. It also doesn't have dual-shock (vibrating motors) like the MC2, but this is made up with the force-feedback. The addition of a sequential stick shifter is good, but I personally feel that they put it a little too close to the steering wheel. It also doesn't have much movement when you shift, which kind of takes the fun out of it.

-Shifter leaves something to be desired

I should also mention that I had a little bit of trouble with it freezing up briefly while playing GT3. It has happened a few times, but I'm not sure if it's a defect with my unit or an actual incompatibility with the PS2 or GT3. I plan on exchanging it for a new one soon to see if this is a universal problem. I hope this has helped.

This adapter doesn't have a "PS" button which means that things like dancepads, driving wheels etc that you'd like to bring over from your PS2, won't work. When the PS3 runs a PS2 game it wants you to press the "PS" key to register the controller. No "PS" button, no work.

The cheapest and easiest solution to your need of more controllers for your ps3. I bought one of these and suprisingly enough it didnt need a ps button at all to function correctly. Guitar hero 1,2, and 80's edition all work with my guitar controller (ps2 guitar) on my playstation 3. If your looking for a way to use special controllers like I was... give this a try.

When Capcom released Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix as a downloadable game for the PS3, I was faced with the problem of having to purchase a new PS3 arcade fighting stick or use the standard PS3 controller. Then I saw this adapter/converter on Amazon.com that looked like a gimmick item being sold on TV by "Billy Mays" and I figured I could use it with the HRAP2 (Hori's Real Arcade Pro.2 ) for the PS2 that I already owned. Fortunately, I figured correctly as this setup on my PS3 works great! Bear in mind that I only use it to play S.F. (& maybe Tekken?) as I can't use the PS button on a regular PS3 controller (meh...). I'll start by saying I did this backwards. Began with III and have now finished II. I absolutely loved III and liked II almost as much. I love the setting! Renaissance Italy is one of my favorite historical places/times. We spent our honeymoon in Florence so this was almost like being back there. The graphics are wonderful, as is all the detail. The characters, costumes and accents are all very well done. The architectural details are stunning. It is readily apparent that the staff at Ubisoft really did their homework on this one.

Gameplay is a lot of fun. The various moves, weapons, armor, missions, interactions, as well as upgrading the Villa all make for a very fun game to play. I was particularly obsessed with upgrading and renovating the villa. I also enjoyed how challenging some of the missions were, like getting the seals from the burial chambers. My only complaints about gameplay are that I wish there would've been some two handed swords and/or axes as permanent weapons. It's fun to pick up a big sword or axe from a guard but they're dropped instantly when you use it, run into something or start climbing. Combat is also not very gratifying or fun. I'd like to see a retrofit of the interface from III put into II. Due to those two minor complaints, I would've given it 4.5 stars but can't in good conscience give it 4. This is a terrific game that really grabs and keeps your attention and it gets 5 stars from me. It's a great story, has great action and it's just a lot of fun to watch it all unfold. I look forward to Brotherhood and Revelations. Then I'll go all the way back and play the original Assassin's Creed.

This is the first Assassin's Creed game that I ever actually played through, and I must say I was pretty impressed. I played a little of the first Assassin's Creed once via a friend's 360, but never actually got around to playing through it previously...I did hear it was fun, but kinda repetative...and my friend did share the story behind it with me, so I figured it would be fine to go ahead and start playing II, especially since it starts the story of a different assassin, Ezio. Although I haven't yet 100% completed the game, I have completed the story of this game, and I rather enjoyed it. I love a good open world game, and this satisfied my appetite for a good open worlder just fine. There is much in the way of side quests, exploring, and screwing around that can be done in the various towns & cities. Plus, the storyline is pretty solid, and the gameplay is a lot of fun. I enjoyed being able to upgrade my armor as I went along and purchasing better weapons, not to mention other fun & sometimes devious new weapons you can acquire. Such as the poison for instance...it was fun to go and prick an enemy with that and watch them go crazy before dying, and sometimes they would hit other soldiers with their weapons while freaking out to. Haha, I love it. That's just one of several various different means that you can take out your foes within this game. All in all, if you like a good action/adventure title...especially a good open world game, I highly recommend this game and others in the series as well. Brotherhood is next up on my list, and I'll probably play 1 just to play it, then Revelations. Good stuff.

It showed up and is silver aluminum color (made of plastic). However the picture was black (description did say aluminum color). It's a bit cheaply made (but at a cheap price) and gives ok protection though there's not much foam to protect the PS3 and I wouldn't want to drop it or send it through airport baggage (should be ok for carry-on). It's certainly more durable than the cardboard box, and much easier to organize and loadup. At $35 I'd definately say it's worth it if you cart your PS3 around frequently.

I purchased this case to transport my Playstation safely and it works just as described. The case is well padded and will hold 2 controllers, 4 games, all the cables, drum sticks and microphone (for Rock Band), and Blu Ray remote. The Velcro will scratch the PS3, so like others have suggested, put a soft towel over it before you strap it in. It provides way more protection than a padded bag. I highly recommend it if you plan on transporting your PS3 frequently. I've bumped it and scuffed it a few time and the finish still looks great, so it's pretty durable.

Overall I think it's fine. My only compaint is that the velcro straps make little scratches on the ps3's shiny surface. I place a cloth over the ps3 before strapping her in. It would be even better if you could store 4 controllers instead of just 2.

This is a great case for the original PS3 design with plenty of room for accessories.

The system fits snug in a cushioned area and there is a velcro strap to lock it in. There is also a red strap the PS3 sits on that is used for removing the system from the tight fit.

I use this case to move my PS3 from one house to another.

However, it is not a piece of luggage and should not be used as such. The PS3 is a heavy and delicate machine and should never be thrown about or dropped.

It is well built and sturdy. It's easy to use and much better than a soft-case, in my opinion.

This case does NOT fit the PS3 slim! From the pictures I could tell that it was made for the original PS3, but I was hoping there would be a way to make it work for the new slim version as well. However, the interior of the case is quite rigid and you are unable to adjust anything without ripping it apart. This is bad news for the slim version, but great news for the original. This case is roomy and packing up everything is a breeze. It feels like it would supply ample protection. I love that you can comfortably fit two controllers, all the cords and 4 games in their package. This was a big selling point for me, as previous cases I've owned require that you pack the game disc in a built-in sleeve and leave the manual and box at home. I'm going to have to return mine, but for all of you with the original PS3 I give it two thumbs up.

I needed something to put my mics and guitars on, and this does exactly that. It's not fancy by any means, but well worth the price tag. The guitars stay in place well. The only problem I've had is the mic holders not staying in place, but that's probably my fault because I think there are sticky pads on the inside of them and I didn't take the tape off.

Overall a good purchase.

Its a decent stand. however, it is to long for the new Guitar Hero(warriors of rock) controller to fit in. The microphone holders are also not very snug to the guitar tree, so your microphones might have issues with sliding down to the bottom.

this product is a pain in the butt, falls apart when you try to pick it up. it holds the guitars fine, but the bottom pieces come lose over time and just picking it up to move from one side of the room to the next makes the whole thing fall apart.

I wasn't expecting much but this was inexpensive enough that I decided to give it a try. As another reviewer stated, the fan is indeed pretty loud considering it is so small. The fan noise was actually louder than the PS3's fan noise which really surprised and disappointed me. The fan doesn't blow that much air, which I expected due to the compact size, but the addition of this fan didn't seem to make any difference in the overall cooling. This combined with the noise it produces makes it a no-go for me and I stopped using it just a few hours after first trying it out.

It's a liitle hard to arrange the ideal position, cable is hard to deform, but once done, it really help to keep the PS3 unit cold.

This is the ultimate fighting stick and truly brings the arcade experience home. The sheer size and weight of the stick brings home the point that this is the king of all arcade stick controllers.

GENERAL:

I purchased the stick when it was on sale here for $65 off the list price and it was worth every penny.

I've used several joysticks (Hori Fighting Stick 2, HRAP3, MadCatz SE (with full Sanwa) and TE Round 1 FightSticks) and the VLX would be my weapon of choice any day. When using it on a table the rubber bottom ensures the stick will not move. The wooden option board is a nice touch as well if you want to mount your stick to it, but I find simply placing the stick on the board works well. Note the stick does not have any protruding rubber feet to potentially interfere with lap use. Lap use may not be as comfortable compared to other sticks due to the weight (12 lbs) but you'll get used to it. In comparison the HRAP3 weighs 5.7 lbs.

LOOKS:

The VLX is the most beautiful mass produced stick I've seen yet. While most of the black parts of the stick are matte the rest provides a nice glossy contrast. The top art is a nice metallic red with some mirror accents and you really need to either see the VLX in person or watch some videos to see how light interacts with the glossy parts.

SOUND:

The sound of the joystick and buttons are much more hollow when used and that's due to the sheer physical size of the housing. Not only is this much wider than the Round 1 TE FightStick but it is taller as well. The hollow sound doesn't bother me though.

USAGE:

Let me start by mentioning one of my favorite features: the angled palm rest. I was afraid I wasn't going to like it since I've been using the Round 1 MadCatz TE Stick with the flat surface, but I was able to make an immediate adjustment to the angled palm rest and love it. Using this stick feels much more natural to me.

The joystick (JLF) and buttons (OBSF) are your typical Sanwa variety and the general consensus on them is they are high quality arcade parts that can take a beating and are great to use. If you've ever used these Sanwa parts or own any variety of a MadCatz TE stick then you'll know what they feel like: the joystick is responsive and the buttons are sensitive.

I've opened the stick to replace the L1 and L2 buttons with the included button plugs and everything inside the stick is cleanly wired and organized. I put the 2 extra buttons in the button holders found inside the stick in case any of my main 6 have issues.

The USB cable storage compartment is large enough for the 3m cable to easily fit. I placed the included cleaning cloth in the back of the storage compartment to clean the surface here and there.

Transporting the stick has been an issue due to the irregular large size and fortunately Hori released a travel bag made to fit the VLX. Unfortunately they're charging a hefty price ($39.99) and since their site is the primary store selling it the shipping cost pushes the bag close to $50. For $50 you could almost get the HRAP3!

CONCLUSION:

To me this is the king of joysticks. It reminds me of the times I spent playing SF4 in Japanese arcades. At the price point this is a joystick for enthusiasts, collectors, and those who aren't hesitant to spend. However if you get this joystick you won't regret it.

I've played in arcades in Japan, and until now, I have yet to feel anything close to the actual feel of the arcade machines.

Then a friend recommended this to me, and now I recommend this to all of you.

This fighting stick feels like heaven in your hands. The resistance of the joystick feels loose enough to not have to put your whole body weight into moving, but not light enough to input more commands than you want to.

The buttons have the right amount of spring to them, and the layout feels very natural to play on.

It's a great feeling to have this behemoth in your hands.

CONS:

The only thing that really bothers me is how big the stick is; it's roughly almost 2 feet in length. Also, the joystick and the buttons seem rather close for how long the stick itself is.

Over-all, it's a fantastic piece of equipment.

HRAP vlx is by far one of the most sturdiest, heaviest arcade joystick I've ever played with. With the addition to the sanwa parts that come with the joystick, feels like you're really in the arcades. I've been playing fighting games with this joystick, and I usually play aggressively, therefore my motions using the stick is pretty forceful, however, no matter how much force I put in, It is still extremely sturdy and strong and doesn't move as much. This product is definitely recomended if you're a die hard arcade fan and want the full experience of being in the arcades at your home.

The only thing that I see as something to look out for is that when pressing the buttons, it does feel slightly hollow compared with the MadCatz tournament edition fightstick. I believe it is because the box itself has a lot of space inside and the top is slightly thin. Yet this feel is really subjective, I personally don't mind it. Especially when Im focusing on beating the bosses, I don't even really notice it while i'm furiously trying to win a game. The price is pretty expensive too. All in all this is a great joystick and I do recommend this product for those die hard arcade gamers!

man, pretty much what all other reviewers said about this stick is all true. it feels like i'm playing with silk. sooooo goood!

and that just made my disappointment THAT much worse when i came to find out that sony has yet to (and probably never will) release updates to get it to function with ps2 backwards compatibility. i have a ridiculous library of ps2 fighters, and that was one of the deciding factors on getting this stick.....

again. THIS STICK WILL NOT WORK WITH THE PS2 PORTION OF BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE PS3'S.

on the other hand, it DOES work wonderfully with everything else! playstation 1 games running on ps3 ARE compatible and play amazingly with it. and you can usb it into a pc and most things run fine with no other software involved (at least on win 7)!!!

the few problems i had (specifically with "super street fighter 4 ae") were all solved by using "x360ce"(search google. its easier than it looks to use it). any other issues are solved with "joy2key".

i went into this purchase expecting that people over-exaggerated how good it is. they weren't. they were under-exaggerating. within five minutes, i actually knew i was better at fighters than i had ever been before. what you attempt to input into this thing generally is what gets read by it. wanna do 90 dragon punches in a row in your sleep (on your first try, when you used to have trouble pulling even ONE off in the heat of the moment before)? no problem!!! i would compare "coming off a Mad Catz Street Fighter IV FightStick into THIS CONTROLLER" to "selling your old run down station wagon and getting a brand new sports car".

as sad/mad as i was that i couldn't play my ps2 fighters(and i was REALLY mad), after using it, i almost could care less. this controller is mad expensive, but if you can afford it (and don't care/are willing to overlook the lack of ps2 compatibility), then it's more than worth it! the fact i have no choice but to give it a perfect review even though it lacked an important (to me) feature should definitely say something about the product (and in hori's defense, sony is entirely responsible for the lack of functionality.)

(yes, i'm sure a custom made stick is probably better, but this might as well be one. and heck, it seems so easy to mod and repair, if you dislike something you can just change it!)

If you liked the first game, you'll definitely like the second. The core premise of the R6 Vegas games is relatively short, but white-hot gunfights in various locations. These can take place in large, open areas with lots of running; or strategic, carefully planned room takedowns where you have to worry about hostages. The AI is generally smart (and improved over the last game) and will flank you, or try to hide in dark corners. They will pop smoke grenades, use covering fire techniques, "leapfrog", and generally try to use wits as much as firepower. The locations of the game are also varied. You might have to sneak around a huge refinery, or you might have to escape a skyscraper before it blows up. It is a carefully plotted game, and very exciting, much like an action movie.

The frame-rate is very smooth, there are more levels in single-player, and the variety present in the online modes is astounding. The graphics probably won't blow you away, but this game is more about tactical choices than it is about eye-candy. The sound-effects are also top-notch, with guns and grenades actually sounding very realistic.

One interesting addition over the last game is the ability to customize your character for single-player and multi-player. There is a wide variety of faces (males and female), armor, camo patterns, and assorted gear. If you have a webcam or Eye Toy, you can put your own face on the character (it's creepily realistic). Experience points, used to unlock gear and guns, is accumulated over both single-player and multi-player modes, so you won't feel like a "noob" when you enter an online match after completing the story mode.

One warning: As of 3/21/08, the online modes are having a little trouble. This is a server overload issue, not a problem with the game. It will probably be cleared up within the coming weeks.

If you like challenging, tactical shooters, you will no doubt like this game. It's not run-and-gun like Halo, and it is definitely a very hard game (two shots and you're dead, and the bad guys are very accurate!) There are also a few minor bugs here and there, but definitely nothing game-breaking. While the graphics could have used a little more polish, and Ubisoft could have anticipated the demand for online play a little better, it's still a solid release, and might even take Call of Duty 4 out of your disc drive.

The problem that "Rainbow Six: Vegas 2" faces is that it is faced again with reinventing the wheel. First person shooters are the staple of the current generation of consoles in much the same way as driving games were for the last generation. Moreover, last year's hugely successful "Call Of Duty" iteration raised the bar for what gamers should expect from the conventional FPS. "RS:V2" delivers polished shooting action, throwing in the requisite online modes, but without really blowing the hinges off what we would expect from a FPS in 2008.

The new "Rainbow Six" generally sticks to the formula established by Ubisoft Montreal in the first outing. The squad-based Special Ops action will feel very familiar to anyone that has played that game or its stablemate "Ghost Recon" games. Graphically and sonically the sequel matches the first game, although additions such as a cover system and experience levelling set-up (where you gain points for different aspects of fighting) are welcome additions.

Although based in Sin City, the game often accents on the mundane warehouses and leisure complexes of Las Vegas, rather than vulgar casinos and the like. This is my first complaint about the game: it seems rather samey, and at least in the PlayStation 3 version, the backgrounds can seem a little sparse: grey abandoned warehouse segues to nondescript hotel complex, and so on, without there being anything really to capture the eye or the imagination. The game does not feel as cinematic, as much of an "event" as "CoD4". Similarly, the mundanity often stretches to your direction of the AI squad members: move to the closed door, open it, clear the room and then repeat. There is no real incentive to lead the charge from the front, especially as you often earn experience points from the squad's action.

The squad AI can often be irritating, too. For instance, it is not uncommon for one of your "buddies" to block your line of fire, or stand in the middle of the war zone just waiting to be shot: often the squad will not respond to orders very quickly, either. I have also noticed that there is quite marked slowdown in some sections of the PS3 version of the game, which is pretty unforgivable in a current generation game and from a top developer such as Ubisoft, to boot.

On the plus side, "RS:V2" does provide plentiful reasons for immersion in the later stages of the game thanks to the experience levelling system: there seems to be some form of progression from playing through the game at point when you would otherwise feel ready to hang up your MP5 for the night. The online "Terrorist Hunt" mode, where you co-operate with other players online is a good idea, although I have often encountered connection problems trying to access this.

An overall assessment of the new "Rainbow Six" would be that it is a good enough game, which offers plenty of challenge. However, judged by the impressive yardstick of "CoD4" and the deluge of up-and-coming releases for the PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360, the game is not really individual or exceptional enough to warrant more than an extended rental play.

to start: this game took a while to load. It might have seemed even longer to me, because when I got it on the 24th of March PSN also released a Systems Update. So I had to wait for that to download/install. I started the game. RB6V2 had a patch (1.10). So I had to wait for that to download/install (this one was short). After that the game had to install itself. This took about as long as the Sys Update. It was just kind of ironic since I was anxious to get started.

RB6V2 is a good sequel. I had tried out the first, and it was just ok. The sequel is more enjoyable in my opinion. The ranking system and the new ACES system that allows for you to gain XP and weapons based on your style of play is a nice / welcome touch.

Within a couple of levels I noticed my "Marksman" and "CQB" XP rose very quickly as opposed to my "Assault" XP. So it depends on your personal style of play. Tag a headshot on a guy through a window while repelling will earn you points toward Marksman, while chucking a grenade into a room will get you well on your way towards the next Assault tier. And every other level rewards you with another weapon; while the Ranking system (total XP) seems to be more geared towards personalizing your character.

I especially liked this feature, and am looking forward to unlocking some features later in the game. Just remember that while outfitting your character, certain camo-styles are NOT appropriate for all terrain/situations!

I also like how you can play through Single-Player (or Co-Op) to gain XP, which can be used Online as well. CoD4 had a similar system, but XP was only gained for ranks, and could only be gained online.

Heh... speaking of which, unfortunately it took me a second or two to get used to the controls after playing CoD4, the L1 is now "Cover" as opposed to the Weapon Scope, which is R3. Made for a couple "interesting" firefights when I first started.

While the first installment of Rainbow Six Vegas flew under the radar the first few months it was out, the sequel has been eagerly anticipated by the large group of enthusiasts who swear by this franchise. Well here it is. This is not your average sequel! The folks at Ubisoft Montreal knew they had a good thing, and merely improved the game where they deemed fitting, and left alone what worked. New to this game is an experience system that encompasses EVERY game mode this time around, rather than just online multi player. A useful 'sprint' command has been added to the game, which allows you to run faster in short bursts. The graphics are very similar to the first game, just a bit more crisp and refined. This game also still can boast the most realistic weapon physics of ANY fps out to date. Even if you have never played a Rainbow Six game before, RSV2 is a perfect place to start. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy!

First off, I will say that I am not a fan of games where you simply run around and shoot things. Granted, some days you just need to do that in a video game, but for long-term fun it just simply does not occur. I am more of a fan of strategic games and absolutely loved the "Rogue Spear" title way back in the day ("Rogue Spear" is a mix of first-person shooter and strategic planning for multiple teams). Knowing little about what the Rainbow 6 franchise moved to, I purchased this title thinking it would be more like "Rogue Spear". Unfortunately, it was not.

Now, that's not to say that I hated this game. The storyline was quite interesting overall and there is clearly an effort to tie it in with a general Rainbow Six master storyline. When playing, it does move towards being a "run around and shoot stuff" game, but it keeps some strategic elements to it that I hoped for. For example, you have two assisting Rainbow Six swat officers that you can command around, such as sending them to clear a room, throw grenades, or hold position while you survey the area. This is a "bottom-up" strategic approach, which is better than nothing in my mind, but I really hoped for a more "top-down" strategic approach. The AI seems a little dumb... you can shoot terrorists by firing off a gun repeatedly, yet their buddies a level up seem to only think that "something might be up." It's a step-up from older games where you could shoot one terrorist and his pal would continue smoking a cigarette over the dead body, but it's still a little peculiar.

Overall, if this had been only a game where you shot things, I would have given it 2 stars. I gave it one more star for a creative story and another star for the "bottom-up" strategic planning. It's certainly not the best game I've ever played, but it was not a total waste. At the very least, the multiplayer/terrorist hunt element can provide some entertainment.

As another reviewer experienced, both of the batteries I received were wired backwards from the original PS3 controller battery they replaced (the red and black wires are reversed.)

It is really simple to lift up the small plastic tab on the connector, slide out the pins on the connectors, and put them back in correctly. But it would have been even more simple if these would have been done correctly in the first place. The same components on my controller got really hot, but I removed the battery as soon as I could smell something not right and my controller was not ruined.

Except for being useless as shipped, the battery is fine. Compare the connector wiring on this battery with the one in your controller before installing it.

I bought these to replace the batteries on three of the my dead PS3 controllers and as soon as I plugged the new battery in, my controller started to smell like burned electronics. Of course, I unplugged immediately. I figured that maybe it was that particular controller that was burned out. I opened another controller, opened another new battery, and got the same results that nasty burn smell.

Contacted company and they had never run into this problem, which I find hard to believe. Maybe it was my controllers, maybe it was the batteries. They gave me a refund on the batteries but I'm pretty sure my controllers are fried.

Actually, if anyone has any advice on this, I'd appreciate it. Haven't found anything online.

Make sure you check the battery before you put it in. Nearly fried my controller. Had to take the cables out of the plastic and swap them. Red is never negative. Not sure why they would do this.

After the wire swap I had the controller put back together in about 10 minutes and it worked perfectly.

Installation was a breeze, and the battery model number matched what was already in my controller (gen 1 PS3 controller). Taking off the back of the PS3 controller is pretty easy, the hard part is lining up the top buttons when you push it all back together. Paying $10 for the battery is better than buying a $55 controller! It works great so kudos to the manufacturers.

Man this thing looks and feels awesome but sadly it is one of the most unreliable controllers ever sometimes it will randomly hit a button which can be really frustrating in the middle of an online

FPS battle. Also sometimes in a game the camera will start moving in a random direction, mine usually goes down but sometimes it goes up. Also, this has happened twice to me, if you push the sync button the thing will not reconnect to your PS3 it just blinks for 3 minutes then shuts off I've tried everything on the stupid thing but it will not connect to my PS3.

The controller only lasted a week then died, the other thing is what no one tells you on these sites selling them is that aftermarket controllers don't have the interactive ability so you can't play games that require 6 axis controllers.
