Pros:

+Enticing storyline full of philosophy and intrigue

+Fantastic voice acting brings the already fantastic story to life

+Lots of variety in the gameplay

+Great sound effects

+Great music score

+All around beautiful game

+The atmosphere of the game never settles

Cons:

-There's not much in terms of difficulty when you can always respawn

-There may not be enough new content to justify paying sixty dollars if you've already got the 360 version

In 2007 as I'm sure many know, Bioshock was released on the XBOX360. The game went on to become a huge classic and sell over a million copies. Earlier this year, it was announced the game would go to the Playstation 3. At first glance, it may not seem worthwhile to buy the game on the Playstation 3 if you played the 360 version, but some of the additions and enhancements just might change the minds of some gamers.

In the beginning of the game you are an unnamed man who happens to be on a plane that crashes seemingly out in the middle of nowhere. Luckily, however, there is a lighthouse in sight. Once you step inside it is quite clear that this is no ordinary lighthouse and soon you descend in the undersea world of Rapture. Rapture is a totally free society in which no one is ruled by anyone, and it was built by a man named Andrew Ryan. Unfortunately, Rapture is anything but perfect. The once perfect world has now become imperfect and is overrun with splicers who thrive on Adam.

Bioshock has an incredible story that digs much deeper than simply being about a central antagonist and protagonist. In the end it'll make you think. It's a very absorbing game. Even is how it looks. It looked incredible on the XBOX360, but the visual experience is enhanced on the Playstation 3 and it looks even better than it did before. Much of it looks very real. Even better is the artistic design and attention to detail. The atmosphere itself is absorbing as well and really makes the world come alive.

Throughout the city you'll also find recorded radio diaries that give you a good idea of what happened to Rapture. The voice acting in these diaries, and throughout the games various cutscenes is incredible. It really helps anyone become absorbed into the world.

Playing Bioshock is an even better experience. At it's heart it is a first person shooter. You'll find weapons that you can use to take down the splicers. Throughout Rapture you'll also find plasmids which you can use to help you take down certain enemies. Some Plasmids can be used to electrocute splicers, or manipulate others. There's a lot to BioShock's gameplay that makes it interesting. In addition to the weapons and plasmids you can also hack the shopping arcades to lower prices, as well as hack security cameras and gun turrets to help you out against your enemies.

There's nothing incredibly difficult about it's gameplay. It's simple enough. Perhaps a little too simple. Bioshock is not a game where you ever really permanently die. If you happen to die you'll respawn from a Vita-Chamber where you'll be able to go right back up to the enemy that killed you. The enemy's health never changes. So essentially, if you're stuck you can keep respawning until you kill whatever it is giving your trouble. This essentially means BioShock is never too difficult. You may get tired of dying, but you can never die permanently.

What exactly is new in Bioshock on the PS3? Well, the graphics are smoother and you get a new difficulty setting. While the new difficulty is enticing, it doesn't really add too much. The enemies are stronger and you pick up less ammo etc., but it's not really enough to entice anyone who owns the 360 version to really pick this one up. So if you've played one of the previous versions of Bioshock, there isn't really too much here that makes it worth getting again. At least not for the price tag of the game itself.

Bioshock is still an amazing game even a year later. It may not be worth it to buy the PS3 version if you've played the XBOX360 version already, but if you have a PS3 and you haven't played Bioshock yet, it's worth checking out.

How's this for a story? A man becomes annoyed with the current world, a world where the great are taken for granted and told that their toils are either for the people, for God or for the government. In response, he creates a fantastic environment, free from all of these turmoils. A place where all the great men and women of the world can create their own inventions without fear of consequence. In this place, men and women could do what they wanted.

If this sounds like Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, you'd be correct. However, in this particular case, it's also the background story behind Rapture, the under-water city that takes centerplace in Bioshock. Many words have been bandied about about video games and their ability (or inability) to become art; you have folks like Roger Ebert saying the medium as a whole can never attain that goal. My personal thought on this matter was that, as a medium, games haven't made enough strides toward that lofty goal. But Bioshock certainly takes a huge step forward.

Andrew Ryan is a visionary the likes of which his namesake Ayn Rand would possibly write about in Atlas Shrugged. He exemplifies the qualities of a Randian hero and showcases Rand's philosophy of objectivism. He created the city of Rapture and filled it, much like John Galt in Atlas Shrugged, with the visionaries of his land. Rapture soon was a thriving city that emphasized science and growth and the importance of the individual. They dabbled in creating plasmids that changed a person's DNA, enabling them to do feats the likes of which had never been seen before.

Then something happened.

Flying over the Atlantic sea, you are Jack, a person who was destined for greatness, if you ask his parents, and whose plane is now crashing into the sea. Jack is apparently the only survivor of the plane wreck and swims to a lone building, a light house it seems, that beckons him onward. Eventually, he goes into a blathysphere and enters into the world of Rapture. But this isn't the Rapture originally envisioned in the pre-recorded film he watches as he journeys into the city. It is a city comprised of deadly machines, once-human monstrosities named Splicers who are insane and, of course, the Big Daddies and Little Sisters.

Bioshock concerns itself with the gray area between right and wrong. This dichotomy between right and wrong is what fuels everything in Rapture. Roaming the landscape, the Little Sisters are twisted abominations of little girls who locate corpses (which they call "Angels") and harvest Adam from them with a long needle. More grotesque is that bottle at the other end of the needle that the Little Sisters drink from. Dutifully following them are the Big Daddies, giant brutes in ancient diving gear. These...things...are at the heart of the story and Jack's survival depends on them and whether he can harvest the Little Sisters or set them free.

The conscience of the gamer is represented in two mysterious figures, Atlas (another allusion to Rand) and Dr. Tenenbaum. Atlas seemingly wants Jack to save his family and explains that the Little Sisters are anything but the human girls they appear. He nudges Jack to put them out of their misery and take the Adam they harvest so he can survive and save Atlas and his family. On the other shoulder perches Tenenbaum, another mysterious individual who created the Little Sisters and seems to want to do anything possible to save them. They are the obvious angel and devil sitting on Jack's shoulder, but the question is...which one is the angel?

To go into further detail would be to spoil this amazing story. Along the route, twists and turns abound with moral, ethical and philosophical questions aplenty. What's interesting is the way Bioshock presents a stark opposition to Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism. Rand's heroes always contain the same qualities that Andrew Ryan exemplifies. But here, the artists behind Bioshock seem to be questioning these qualities by presenting a situation so familiar to Atlas Shrugged, and yet, so far removed.

It is literate, thoughtful, disturbing and moving. Even if the gameplay didn't live up to the story, Bioshock would be worthy just for this reason.

Luckily, that's not the case. For the gun hungry, sure, Rapture is filled with guns aplenty and even presents opportunities for you to craft your own upgrades. But that is just scratching the surface. Everything goes back to the story. Plasmids are located across the ruined debris of Rapture and contain the keys to recreating your DNA. Some early examples of Plasmids are the ability to shoot electricity from your hands to being able to set things on fire to telekinesis.

But these plasmids aren't only used for fighting. Minor puzzle-solving crops up, some of which require plasmids in the same way as gear in Legend of Zelda. The biggest puzzle is how to take down the game's variety of enemies. While you can definitely charge in, guns blazing and sometimes survive, cases will present themselves where such tactics will end with you on the bad end of the Big Daddies' drill. Instead, you can create your own traps and war zones. Using plasmids, the environment and, of course, your weapons, you can create elaborate traps that will bring a smile to your face.

A lot of games coming out right now that use the Unreal 3 engine don't look as spectacular as they could. In particular, character models tend to look shiny and/or completely ugly. This is not the case with Bioshock. Everything comes together, from the disturbing scenery, the art deco architecture to the the insane creatures and characters populating the world. Shadows and lighting also create a sense of atmosphere that drips heavily, much like the water pouring down the walls. It's stunning. The only complaint (and it is minor) is that the frozen portions you can melt don't look very convincing. When things melt, they don't leave anything behind. The only reason it sticks out is that the rest of the game is absolutely beautiful and amazingly crafted.

None of this would be as effective, though, without superior sound. And Bioshock has that (mostly) in spades. The voice work is stunning throughout and the actors provide a great sense of dread. The audio diaries do an exemplary job of providing the backstory, but also work the best in crafting dread and terror. Some of the most disturbing things occur listening to them. Unfortunately, sometimes the characters' lines are repeated too often, ruining the disturbing nature of their dialogue. Musically, the game is also amazing. It flits into the picture at key moments, increasing the tension before it will flow away. You might not even notice it's there, but that's why it's so good.

You know, the funny thing about hype is how people react to it. Game journalists can go blue in the face trying to get people interested in forgotten gems such as Psychonauts, Beyond Good & Evil and Stranger's Wrath, and since they weren't financially successful they become these gems. When a game sells incredibly well and is hyped to the max (both of which fit Bioshock), people say "over-rated."

Ignore the hype machine. I know you're tired of hearing about it. But give Bioshock a try, if you haven't yet. Download the demo for your PC or try it on the Playstation 3 Network. It is a game that's definitely worth everything that's been said about it and more.

It is art. And no words by ignorant movie critics will change that.

For awhile, Bioshock was the clincher when it came down to next-gen consoles. With only money and room for one, I had to choose which system to get so when it was announced the highly acclaimed game was being released to the Playstation 3, well I was sold. Not only being able to play multiplatform games but also some solid exclusives, the important thing was that I had to play this. A game that gets this much praise has got to end up disappointing considering the hype, not only from press and critics but my own anticipation, right? Well wrong as this is one of the most captivating games I've played recently and whether you got an Xbox 360 or a PS3 (keyword being "or"), Bioshock's a must-play.

Story: In the mid 1940's, an ambitious man named Andrew Ryan got fed up with the bureaucrats, politicians and religious leaders trying to see who can control the populace with the most restrictions from medical experiments to freedom of speech. So he secretly created the world of Rapture, a vast city found underwater. In 1960, an unnamed man travelling on a plane finds himself the sole survivor when the plane crashes in the middle of the ocean. Swimming to a nearby lighthouse, he accesses a bathysphere which takes him to Rapture only instead of finding a thriving city, it's in disarray and strange folk genetically modified roam the halls. You have to work your way through the city and discover why the idyllic city has failed.

Graphics: There's certain games that really make you feel a part of the world as opposed to just controlling someone on the screen and like games such as Dead Space, Resident Evil 4 or more serene landscapes such as Shadow of the Colossus, Bioshock is another game that, without fear of sounding cheesy, really transports you to another time and place. The art design, attention to detail and a genuine realism really get you thinking you're in this city under the sea. Fantastic water effects and a feel recreating the old 1940's complete with neon graphics, old-school advertisements not to mention the views outside the windows, this is definately one to HDTV.

Sound/Music: Another important part of the game's immersion is the sound design which has all the requisite noises of a place that's been decimated: groans, distant rumblins and things busting out of nowhere, the sound helps create an unnerving atmosphere. It's not necessarily scary but it certainly keeps you on your toes. Also welcome is the voice acting though the 2 main speakers seems to be Andrew Ryan (portrayed by Armin Shimerman, Quark from "Star Trek" and the first Principal on "Buffy") and Atlas, your CODEC so to speak. The Splicers, the genetically modified residents of Rapture, also have strange ramblings and makes them be set apart from just the screeching of other enemies.

Gameplay: Essentially this is a FPS though don't think that's all it is. The key with Bioshock is variety and it's surprising how much combat strategies you can develop on the fly. Basically, your fighting is separated into 2 methods: typical gun stuff like pistols, shotguns, grenade launchers etc while the other is the "Plasmids", a medical breakthrough involving genetic experimentation, which allows you different abilities. Use Incinerate to light your foes on fire or find an oil spot on the floor and burn that when they're standing on it for even more burnage. Also, say you light him/her on fire and you think they're going to want to find a water source right? Well thanks to Rapture getting the occasional leak, they're not too far so if they've gone for a bit of a swim, just use your electricity and shock the water. There's others as well such as using your telekinesis to grab grenades and bombs in mid-air and toss em back or reposition traps to your advantage. There's more to be found and approaching combat as never been so...fun.

Don't think that's the end of it though as occasionally you'll be seen by a camera, sending in flying armed drones. Sure it's easy to just blow them up but why not hack them using a pipe-based minigame (tedious but works well enough) to make your own personal bodyguards? Or hack a turret and you can even hack health stations in case enemies want to cure themselves only to find because you've hacked it that it makes things worse for them. Hacking ammo, item and inventing "jukeboxes" will also decrease the amount of money you have to pay which is a definate plus. Only thing is the pipe minigame where you have to make water flow from one part to the other using different panel forms grows kind of tiresome and there's even some where I ran out of pieces or room to move thanks to dead-ends.

All of this will come into use when you hear a roar nearby and you know one thing: a Big Daddy is near. Walking around the hallways is a big dude in diving gear (dude on the cover) protecting a girl called the Little Sister who has in her body ADAM, the genetic material vital to Rapture. In order to get it you have to kill the protector and this bugger is as tough as he sounds. Thankfully with the turrets and bodyguard drones (which admittedly don't last long) to using Enrage on nearby enemies which will actually attack him instead of you, eventually you'll defeat him. Only thing is that you have to do it in stages since you'll frequently die though thankfully nearby Vita-Chambers spawn you back in with his health where you last left off thereby not negating all that hard work. Makes the game easy sure but on the other hand, it never becomes frustrating and you can just play and play and not worrying about hitting dead ends.

That's one thing to be aware of with this game as well: it's rather addicting and it's one of those games where you might look at the clock and go "well I can afford to play a bit more, it's only a simple objective anyway" only to find out it's 4 AM and needing to get to bed. I was that hooked and despite its hefty 5 Gig install which is strangely shorter than Devil May Cry 4's 20 minute one which lasts 10 minutes or so, Bioshock is definately a game to get for your Playstation 3. As for people who already have the 360 version, well unless you're that into the game, you don't really have to bother but for non-360 owners like myself or people who never played it than definately go for it.

I don't think that I can possibly say how much fun this game is so far. I'm well into the 10 hour plus mark of Bioshock and time is flying by.

The story is that your plane crashes in the middle of the Atlantic and you discover a secret society where something has gone horribly wrong. That's the fun part. You get to explore this entire underwater utopia where lots of things want to kill you. And it's set in 1960 so the art and technology pays homage to the 50's.

This is the PS3 version. I know that there are 2 other versions for the Xbox 360 and the PC. However this is the only one that I have played. So I can't compare this to either of the other two versions. Regardless, I'm blown away by the graphical detail and the sound. There's always some noise in the background where you know there's some creepy enemy doing something but you haven't found them yet. Or they haven't found you yet.... It's a fun FPS but with a lot more story than most and a bit more thinking.

Buy this! Much much fun.

I will put it simply: If you only get one game for the rest of your life, Bioshock should be it. This game simply Amazes you: it has possibly the most intriguing plot that is fit for an oscar movie. The visuals too will constantly amaze, from finely detailed industrial structures to the many weapon models (everything from machine guns to whale harpoons) . The gameplay is truly great, very good controls and the ability to basically use and throw almost everything in the game environement. Bioshock is one of those monumental experiences you'll never forget, and the benchmark against which games for years to come will, and indeed must, be measured. It is no wonder that Bioshock is the highest rated game by all the video game press today, right up there with GTA IV.

"Silent Hill 2" and "Silent Hill 3" are gems of the survival horror genre. These games showed us how smart, creepy, disturbing, and insightful games can be. I really cherish them.

Because of this it's too bad that "Silent Hill HD Collection" is a broken product.

First, there are numerous audio problems. Sound effects pop in and out during gameplay. Lip syncing and sound effects are also often very delayed during cutscenes.

Second is the frame rate issues. Both games are pretty bad, but SH3 is far worse than SH2. Expect the game to look like it's moving in slow motion in environments with more than one monster, that are larger than a closet, have running water, or fog... yes... fog! There was one boss fight in a sewer like place (I won't mention the name of the boss for spoiler reasons) that was moving so slowly that all challenge was removed.

Lastly, are the graphical problems. SH2 looks worse than it did on PS2. This is mostly due to that lack of translucent fog. In SH2 on PS2 the fog became more dense as its distance from you increased until you couldn't see anything past a certain point. Now there is just an almost solid wall of fog that looks horrible. The worst part about it is that you can now see unfinished areas of the game that the fog was meant to cover up. Nothing like seeing water that just disappears after a few feet or a telephone wire that isn't connected to anything. They have also screwed up the contrast of the game. When you set up the brightness you can now do it so the lighting looks good either outdoors or indoors, but not both like the original. This means you'll most likely be dealing with very dark and washed out exteriors.

The very worst example of how much uglier SH2 is now is in the boat section. The water texture is missing completely making it look like you're rowing across foil or something and the lack of the translucent fog mentioned earlier means that the guiding light now looks like a crayon drawing.

There are two pluses to the collection though. The first is that SH3 looks fantastic. SH2 may look terrible, but for the most part SH3 looks great. However, this doesn't matter because the game runs so slow that you'd rather just have the original SD copy. Second, is that most of the new voice actors of SH3 are better than the original. However, Heather's voice is far worse. She is no longer an authentic teenage girl like in the original. Even though the rest of the SH3 cast may sound better, the main character is far less believable and that's the one that really counts.

The new voices for SH2 are all terrible, but there is an option to use the original so that doesn't really matter.

To fix these problems Konami a released a 200+mb 1.1 patch (that's after the inexplicable 4gb install), but it didn't actually fix anything. Even if you reinstall everything after the patch it doesn't do any good.

There is simply NO EXCUSE for releasing PS2 games for the PS3 and have them be plagued with performance issues. Konami and anyone involved in the creation of the HD Collection should be ashamed of themselves.

Such a huge disappointment. If you have yet to experience these games pick them up for the PS2. They're well worth it.

POST PATCH UPDATE:

Months after the retail release of Silent Hill HD Collection there has finally been a patch released that actually addresses most of the issues. Both audio and visual problems as well as the frame rate issues have been corrected. The game now looks and sounds as good as it should have in the first place. There are still a few problems, but I would now highly recommend picking up a copy.

Silent Hill has garnered a massive fanbase from lovers of Survival Horror games, and with good reason.

The games are extremely dark and atmospheric, with lots of fog and very little light to get by with.

Strange creatures and bumps in the night can be heard constantly, no matter where you are. Every moment

is fraught with tension. The stories are character-driven, the music is sublime and emotional, yet appropriate,

and the graphics are clean, especially when they're dirty as a bloody mop in a rusted toilet stall.

The reviews are in, and they have been for the last 6-10 years. Silent Hill 2 and 3 are the core of the

Silent Hill experience.

What Konami has given us here is unacceptable. There are lag, framerate and audio loop issues that were

present in the original version of Silent Hill 2. The framerate on the PS3 is actually worse than it

ever was on the PC. My PC could handle it when it came out so there was no framerate issue,

(but there was still that audio loop). I have hardly played either of these two titles and I am already

disgusted at the level of disrespect Konami has for its own titles, as well as its fan base. Cut-scenes are

out of sync with audio by over five to six seconds to the point your mind thinks the game itself has crashed.

I am studying to be a game developer and designer and I am sickened by this business practice of milking a series without

putting in the hard (simple) work of properly coding a title to run on the console. If you can't be sure

you can make it run with old code, get into the code and fix the problem, or better yet, just don't make

any announcements. Come on.

There are three good things about this release. The cover art is very sensual and erotic. There is a beautiful

cover song during their "credits" on the front screen, and the new audio recordings are surprisingly good. The James

character feels very natural and as if he could have done the original voice. But unless these things are just absolute

"must-haves" for a collector, my advice is to just play the old games on the computer at a fraction of the cost

and render them at their highest settings.

Please don't support this product if you are a fan or thinking about becoming a fan. You don't deserve this,

Konami doesn't deserve your money, and Silent Hill itself sure as hell doesn't deserve this treatment.

EDIT: There has been a recent update for Silent Hill Collections and now I fully recommend playing both these amazing games through multiple times! Please enjoy! I take back 90% of what I said, but I still believe Konami owes it to their customers not to release broken products at the time of release.

Extended Edit: I've changed the score at the request of someone who read this review. These games are fantastic--some of the best, the finest of survival horror. Do not miss these games. They will chill you, touch you, or at the very least, take you to another world where you will ponder the nature of your existence.

The Silent Hill HD Collection should have been a love letter to fans, but instead, it turned out to be a technical disaster on many levels. Missing textures and crackling audio was just the tip of the iceberg. What went wrong?

Senior associate producer on the project, Tomm Hulett, has revealed to 1UP that Konami's porting crew had to work off a beta build of the original source code. Apparently, Konami couldn't find the source code belonging to the original gold master. Whoops.

"We got all the source code that Konami had on file -which it turns out wasn't the final release version of the games," noted Hulett.

He added, "So during debug we didn't just have to deal with the expected `porting' bugs, but also had to squash some bugs that the original team obviously removed prior to release, but we'd never seen before."

On top of fixing bugs and other oddities in the pre-release code, the beta build wasn't complete asset-wise, either. Hulett says Konami had to rip textures and sound straight from the original discs and import them in. While it's an unfortunate situation, it's still no excuse for the crippled state the HD Collection was released in, we think. Konami should have bit the bullet and issued a delay, or canned the project altogether.

The PS3 version of this game is completely broken.

In the two hours I have played the game I have encountered these issues

* The game struggles to keep a solid framerate. It constantly chugs and freezes for several seconds in a row, I thought the game had froze several times but it was just the awful framerate. This happens on both games.

* The sound is completely broken on both games, audio is constantly out of sync and half the time the audio cues simply do not work.

*The controller often seizes up on Silent Hill 2 and stops working until I let go of the control stick and let it reset. I can not walk in a straight line for more than 10 seconds because of this.

* The Textures constantly flicker and in a few cases failed to load at all.

* Silent Hill 3 has froze on me twice during a cutscene

This is simply unacceptable because they delayed the game several times and still had the gall to release it in a completely broken state. It is obvious that Konami does not care about the fans.

I did some internet research and this seems to be happening to many other people who have this game on PS3.

UPDATE :

March 22nd, 2012.

I downloaded the update and then re-installed the game and I am still experiencing every single issue I originally encountered without the update. The update does not seem to have changed anything at all.

I'm a huge Silent Hill fan so it really hurts to give out one star to this long-awaited HD collection, it just makes me wonder: "What went wrong"? I already finished SH2 and I'm halfway through SH3, I'm actually trying to ignore the stuttering, sound glitches and ridiculously slow frame rate because I just love the early games of the series, but I feel like an idiot standing by this abomination when I can pop up my still working SH3 copy on my still working PS2 and blaze through the same areas where my PS3 is having such difficulties to render, why does it have to run so slow on a more powerful machine, why on Earth does it have to install 4GB's of data and what was that useless patch for? None of my other HD collections install data and they work fine, seriously Konami, you should consider bringing back Team Silent before you can even consider another franchise release, it's a punch in the nuts for all of us fans everytime you release a stinking pile of garbage like this with the Silent Hill brand on it.

I bought this after returning a Nyko Raven controller that didn't work right at all. I didn't know what to expect with this controller because it didn't have very many reviews, and most of the reviews I could find only talked about the Turbo function instead of things like build quality and performance.

The controller itself is much bigger than the Dualshock 3 and it's much closer to a 360 pad in size. In fact, the original controller was almost a complete copy of the 360 controller (which means they probably changed it for legal reasons). It feels a bit heftier in the hand and more solid than most comparable controllers. It uses Bluetooth to connect to the PS3 so no annoying dongles that make you waste a USB port. Unfortunately it uses an external AA battery pack like the 360 controller and there are no rechargeable packs or anything like that so be sure you have plenty of batteries ready. The other problem the battery pack brings is that the PS3 can't accurately gauge the battery life of the controller and will randomly put up low battery messages.

The D-Pad is slightly clicky and loud, but not too bad. As long as you aren't playing a game that requires expensive use of the D-Pad it serves its purpose fine. The face buttons all feel fine. I'd say they're somewhere between the hard feeling of the 360 buttons and the soft feeling of the PS3 buttons when pressed. The analog sticks are a bit more resistive than the Dualshock 3's, but they feel a bit smoother in some ways, but that may be because of the height difference. The sticks themselves are set higher, but are also shorter. The top of the sticks has a blue coating that looks like it may be for grip, but it's actually quite slippery. The start and select buttons are horribly placed and require you to reach pretty far, which can hurt a bit when you're trying to check the score in a game like Call of Duty. Finally the shoulder buttons are different. The triggers are shaped a bit more like real triggers but are still a bit off. They're also fairly resistive and not as sensitive as the Dualshock 3's. The L1 and R1 buttons are digital buttons instead of analog meaning they feel more like the 360's bumpers and not like the L1 and R1 buttons normally do.

Now a lot of the reviews I've seen state that they have problems with the turbo working in most games, and this is not the fault of the controller. Most game developers cap the amount of times you can press a button in a set time period. Often this completely breaks the turbo function. In Black Ops, they coded it to disable your controls for a few seconds so don't use the Turbo function in a game and expect it to work.

The Breakdown:

Good:

+ Good build quality compared to other 3rd party controllers

+ Bluetooth compatible, no USB dongle

+ All buttons are responsive

+ Turbo can be useful in games like Resident Evil 5 with "Press X quickly to not die" sequences

Bad:

Bumpers instead of regular shoulder buttons which feel uncomfortable when a game doesn't properly support switching to triggers

Start and select buttons are poorly placed

D-Pad isn't good for anything beyond a basic quick press

Uses AA battery back instead of rechargeable built-in battery.

Overall I'd say this is a decent controller for most games and it's a decent buy if you really need to save $15 on a controller (buying retail not on Amazon). The Dualshock 3 is still better overall and with a set of $5 Real Triggers will serve you much better.

The controller worked at first, but can not switch between a regular controller to a turbo controller in the game to use rapidfire. After a few months of use R1 stopped working first then L1 also stopped working. Forget trying to get a hold of these guys for Tech support, they are in Europe No customer service. No phone and they do not answer e-mail

I read many reviews before purchasing this controller. I didn't see many negative reviews at all. The "D"pad was really the only part that was taking hits. I'm not a "pro-gamer" nor was I born under the PS or Xbox generation. I just like to unwind with a good video game or play one with my kids. I do, however, take my game play seriously. I own both a PS3 slim a Wii and I love them. I have played the Xbox as well and love it too. They are all great gaming systems, each with its' own advantages and disadvantages. For example, I like the feel of the Xbox controller because I have big hands, but I don't like the offset joysticks. So, this controller is perfect for me. Yes, the "D" pad is a little loud and takes some pressure to activate the buttons, but this is an extremely minor point and nothing to get bent about when selecting controllers. As far as the Blueray function: It functions exactly like the PS3 controllers in every respect. It does not miss a beat, no lag. Buttons are only slightly less smooth as DualShock3's but, no less responsive. My only real qualm is the charging the batteries; I don't think you can charge while you play. No worries, the LiIon rechargeables and NiCads I have last a good, long time. That's about it. It works like a champ and has everything I like. BTW, I don't sell or review these things on a regular basis (first time). But, I wanted to throw this out there because it's really a great compromise controller for those looking for a larger, DualShock3-like controller. It's great.

UPDATE: Several months later, the pad is still working great, no dead spots like others have said. I did notice that if you try to use the turbo function in COD BO, you might get banned. Sony appears to have disabled that function and blacklists those who use it. I guess that's justified. It's a cheat, right?

UPDATE: Over a year later. The joystick is still a great joystick, save one important flaw; there is a nagging message that appears saying that the joystick is low on power. It appears periodically and is large enough to distract you from game play. I believe it is a Sony attempt at discouraging the use of a non-proprietary joystick that also has a turbo button. I never use the turbo, but I think Sony picks it up just the same and sort of penalizes you for its use. That's my best guess. Nothing I've tried stops this from happening, even if I plug it in while playing (as I mentioned previously, I don't think it is chargeable in the usual fashion. Batteries must be removed to charge as far as I know). Overall, if you can get over the badgering messages, it's still pretty good.

i like this controller becouse you dont need to dongle or wires its connect directly to the ps3 and its work with the ps3 wire without battery but you wil face problem of control the player in call of duty if you but the sensitivity 8 to 10 hard to control it .

Haven't had a chance to hook up and test the controller yet so my review may be edited at a later time. The thing that bothers me about this is that the product picture does not remotely look like what I received. For example in the picture you see a silver inset with blue controller sticks. What I received was totally black with a lighted selection screen on the controller. I'm not saying the controller I received isn't a good substitute but it was totally different from what I was expecting.Buying on the internet product pictures are really important.

Update: After playing with the controller for about a week I found that whenever I clicked the right thumbstick it would turn the controller off. Imagine playing a fast paced game and then right in the middle, everything freezes and you have to reconnect the controller. As you might imagine this is totally unacceptable from a playing point of view.

So in summary, doesn't match the picture and then doesn't work properly. What more do you need to know to go to a different controller.

I actually rented this game to see how it played. Glad I did as I won't be buying.

The good is that the pitching style is really involved, making you make certain stick movements rather than the old 'swing meter' that is so boring. The announcers are great, though the timing of the remarks is off somewhat.

The 'ok' is the batting, it's actually kinda fun if a bit simplistic. Fielding is ok as well, with the new throwing meter adding a bit. Baserunning has always been my nemesis, so I can't realistically comment on that. The mode where you match your favorite team day by day is unique, but seems a bit gimmicky because you will have to keep buying it year to year (you can't just play a season in that mode).

Ok, now the bad... there are a number of video/audio glitches that are inexcusable in this day and age (and at this price). The 'my player' mode is very weak. Load times are long at times, video doesn't play smoothly and player animations are jerky at times.

All in all, not a bad game, just not a really good one.

This may sound like sacrilege to anyone who has religiously played the show and never touched 2K. 2K is not perfect. The visuals lack some of the realism that the show does, and the game plays quicker than the show. That is not a bad thing, unless you have hours on end. What I like about 2k is that the games can be won by more than one run. I have talked to many a show player and played the game myself. One of the biggest problems is the unrealistic hitting. One of my clostest friends played a full season and had an average of 210 for the year but finished with the best record in baseball.

2K allows you to put runs on the board and engage in pitchers duels. There is also the baserunning quandry in the show. In the show, every play is a bang bang play. I can't name how many times I have been burned by a Reyes in the show because the animation takes so long to actually throw to the base. In 2k routine plays are routine. I think 2k is more realistic in the sense of gameplay. I recommend it over the show.

MLB 2K12 features several upgrades long in coming and make upgrading from previous 2K games worth the money.

Pro's:

Throwing Accuracy vs. time: This is a basic part of baseball that has been missing from this game the decision to set feet and throw accurately or flip the ball quickly. This is especially true for the middle infielders. And as in the real game, a quick throw can lead to some errors.

Dynamic tendency: This is another "realistic" part of the game that needed to be improved. Even Justin Verlander isn't going to get away with the same fastball every time, and this game forces players to adjust their approach to keep from becoming predictable.

The soundtrack is a winner again. There are always several tracks from 2K games that end up on my iPod. This one is no different.

Cons:

The graphics are still not as good as the MLB The Show games. I know there is a tradeoff between graphic detail and game frame speed, but the 2K12 still doesn't seem to have found the right balance

Notes: I still haven't decided if I like the pitching changes better than the old meter...it's theoretically better. Also, the batting stances seem a little off for some players. C'mon, you have to get Miggy right, he's the MVP and Triple Crown winner!

This is how a baseball game is supposed to be played. It has what most would call "previous gen" graphics but I don't think it need to look good to be good. The gameplay is what matters and that's where it excells.

The pitching takes some getting used to but it makes it so it't not super easy. After a few games you'll get the hang of it. Each pitcher feels different and tgat's a good thing -to have to get used to each individual pitcher instead of pitching the same every time.

The batting is perfect. Some people would call it boring but it needs to be simple. It's just a simple flick of the right joystick. You're swining a bat, not making cheesecake.

Fielding is great too. Each fielder has his own point of perfection when he throws so you can't just throw the same every time.

Overall this game is perfect. It's a nice enjoyable game of baseball, and that's all it needs to be.

Want Major League Baseball 2K12 Discount?

Most people like MLB The Show better than 2k, and while I agree that The Show's graphics are a lot better, I think the overall gameplay is more enjoyable in 2k. I'm having a blast with 2k right now and I'm very happy I bought it rather than The Show.

If all you care about is graphics, go with The Show.

If you want a fun game, go with 2k.

Pros

-It looks nice.

Cons

-Very uncomfortable. I couldn't stand to wear it for more than a few minutes.

-Poor audio quality. Turning up the volume on the headset itself, in games, and on my cell phone didn't help. From what I could tell, people also had a hard time hearing me.

-Despite being sixty dollars it still feels cheap.

-You can get much better headsets for much less.

I would only recommend this to the fans of the games looking for a collectible item. Everyone else should avoid it like the plague.

Big MGS fan so I needed a BT headset for my PS3 and picked this up. The headset looks great and even includes a neat little case to put it away in. Whole thing looks very MGS.

The bad: The headset died within 30 minutes of play time. Had real bad echoes and the other person playing with me was having a hard time hearing me. Afterward it just died, he could hear me, but I couldn't hear anything. All settings were fine on the console.

I bought this from one of Amazon's 3rd party sellers at a great price. I couldn't be happier. I bought it to use with MGS4, but have been using it with my phone too. This was my first headset, so it took a little getting use to. After about a week I barely even know it's there. I don't understand the mid level reviews, maybe they were written right after they bought them. There is a break-in period, but after a week or so it's great. Oh, and it looks cool too.

I bought this a few months back and used it a grand total of 4 times, then when I went to use it again it started making static noises and now it choises whenever it like to allow others hear my voice. My voice now conks in and out and only works properly when it chooses. It seems to work properly when test it on the console but when in-game (tested on games where there is an icon that shows you are talking, i've also had to ask if people could hear me countless times in which I've recived no response in game which people did have mics of their own and were talking) I would never buy this again and i wouldn't recommend you buy it either because it breaks fast even if you use it only a few times. No thanks. Only benefit is you can hear out of it fine and the volume isn't bad, its a little uncomfortable also and often makes my ear hurt...

For anyone that played NFS:Hot Pursuit, one could argue the only thing that game was missing was a "freeplay" mode (ala Test Drive Unlimited 2) to run over any part of the map you wanted. But the gameplay was top notch, as was the online multiplayer, which shows why NFS: Hot Pursuit still has a strong following.

And while I can appreciate what EA tried to do with NFS: The Run, it's just not done very well.

For a full retail game ($60) to be over in THREE hours, that's not acceptable in a racing game considering that Blur could take you several WEEKS to work through, along with racers like Dirt 3, Gran Turismo 5, etc. This means unless you're a trophy hunter or a die-hard online player, the game's over in about the time it takes to play an NFL game on Sunday. So for this reason, I suggest if you don't fall into the categories I just mentioned, give this a rental.

From a graphics standpoint, the game looks awesome, especially during the cutscenes and the areas you'll be driving. However when the graphics is the strongest point of the game, you've got a problem right there.

One of the things that has plagued the Shift series of games is the floaty handling. And one of the things that made NFS:Hot Pursuit so GOOD was how well that game handled. Sadly, in NFS: The Run, it seems you're driving a Land Rover instead of a Zonda. It's extremely hard to execute good, drifting turns, hard to weave in and out of the environmental scenes (which Split/Second did far better and more convincingly), and more often then not, you end up wrecking. While the "rewind" feature is nice, a 10 second interruption in the gameplay is not while you're waiting to get back in the race.

Furthermore, if you're going to have a story you better care about the "main" character. Unfortunately, it seems like EA went to the Paris Hilton school of "souless" acting because while the cutscenes look cool, you're really not getting a sense of intrigue (OMG, we have to win, Jack owes $25M, he's going to die if he doesn't pay. Get the ___ out of my way, I gotta win! Erm, no so much).

I had VERY high hopes for this game. But coming out around the same time Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, Batman, Saints Row and MW3, and containing about 1/10 of the gameplay time, I simply can't recommend buying this game except for the most diehard Autolog/achievement hunter.

And it's a shame. We want developers to push the edge, and then crack back on them when they fail. As much as I'd like to see EA make another go at this, you're probably going to see a return closer to what Hot Pursuit was then you'll see another "The Run" type of game.

Pros:

Great graphics and sound

Autolog and lots of achievements to chase

Cons:

WAY too short at 2-4 hours long

Bare multiplayer modes compared to NFS:Hot Pursuit

Sluggish controls/responsiveness

Lack of connection with the story

I give The Run 5 stars and I'm puzzled that there are so many complaints and 1 star ratings. I have several of the PS3 racing games, Grid, Dirt 1,2&3, GT, NFS series, and they all take a little getting used to, at least for me. Once you get the hang of it, it's simply a blast. With The Run, you get to street race in San Francisco against oncoming traffic or weave in and out of traffic on an LA freeway with spectacular graphics. Seriously, what's not to like. I'm about a third of the way thru, playing the challenges along the way and I think The Run is a 5 star addition to my game collection. That's my 2 cents.

Black Box is not Criteron Games, so I wasn't expecting anything nearly as good as Hot Pursuit. With that being said, I haven't been disappointed yet. The tracks all look amazing as do the cars. Yes, some of them are hard to handle but if you're having a hard time, just use a car with normal handling and you'll be ok. But there is great reward in mastering tracks with cars that are harder to handle as you'll take seconds off your lap time as you sacrifice easier handling for speed. There is a lot of rubber banding AI though. There's been several races that I've been on the final stretch, saw someone coming in behind me and I punch the nitro and they still fly right past me and beat me by a split second...and I started it on easy just so I could familiarize myself with the tracks. The cops in this game are more annoying than they are fun like in Hot Pursuit too. I can't count how many times so far that I'd go to drift around a turn only to be super human rammed by some cop and go flying right off a cliff or the path.

Speaking of that, the game also seems to have a problem with you being off of the beaten path. If it's not a shortcut or the actual road, the game will make you rewind (an annoying feature added that takes you back to your last checkpoint). It's a nice feature for when you wreck but more often than not, you're going to be seeing it because your car was slightly just past the cones or you were bumped through the yellow turn there arrows because they aren't an invisible wall in this game. My favorite so far has been getting a ton of air from a jump that I think I bounced off a tanker truck and then somehow I wrecked before I even hit the ground (and it would have been a perfect landing!). Bottom line is this game could have a lot of epic and cool moments but it prevents itself from ever allowing it. I'm also not a fan of a "story" mode in my racing games.

This game does have a rather interesting story, but it seems like it doesn't know how to go about it. Any rival races are introduced to you as text on the loading screen and that's all. But then you randomly have these poor looking cutscenes, and by poor I mean a lot of shading pixels around Jack (the guy you're racing as) and the frame rate often stutters a lot during them. On top of not being very visually pleasing, they tend to have some quick time events in there. There is nothing worse than quick time events. But the concept of racing across the US actually does work in the games favor by having a very wide and very nice variety of tracks. And while the story mode is rather short, there's good reason.

The game seems more focused on competing with friends (which hopefully you're not like me and actually have friends who did buy this game hah) so while yes, the story is fairly short, it's also to encourage you to replay it to surpass a friends autolog completion time for the campaign. But if you're not one to car for competition, then there are a good amount of challenge modes that unlock as you complete each stage in the campaign. You'll find yourself trying to better your lap times as you try to attain platinum medals for your efforts in these challenges. There are online modes, which seem to have a focus on working as a team but as i mentioned earlier, I don't currently have any psn friends who have this game yet. Hopefully after black friday that will be remedied but for now, I haven't had a chance to play online just yet.

All in all, the game is actually a lot of fun. The bugs in the game are in the parts that no one should really care about and the cars all handle well. It takes some getting used to since again, this isn't Hot Pursuit and the controls don't feel as great at first but with the right car, you'll have little to no problems drifting around tight corners. The asking price does seem a little steep so maybe wait til you can get it cheaper, but by all means this game offers quite a bit to do as long as you have friends to compete with.

Before I start off with this review, I would like you to know that I have been an avid supporter of the NFS series for years. I have played every single NFS game except for the first one and Shift 2. No, Pro Street never happened so I have never touched that game.

What I liked:

1. Thanks to Frostbite 2, the graphics look really good. The environment really shines. The cars aren't too shabby either.

2. The cars sounds fine. They aren't mind-blowing, but they're decent.

3. The quick=time events are surprisingly decent. I didn't mind them at all.

4. Personally, I like the licensed soundtrack a lot. It is pretty much a blend of alternative and rock.

5. Just a fun fact. Christina Hendricks plays a role in the game.

6. The cover looks pretty rad.

What I didn't like:

1. Compared to Hot Pursuit's feel of playing with toy cars, this one feels like pushing a cardboard box around. The vehicles don't feel alive. There is no sense of satisfaction in the driving portion. That could be a matter of preference though.

2. The game doesn't really pick up until your 80% into the game, when you start driving the ultra high end cars.

3. Very much similar to other non=simulation NFS titles, this game relies heavily on rubberband AI. Your opponents always catch up. You never get to the first place until the final seconds. The rubberband AI causes extreme frustrations on plenty of occasions.

4. The developer claimed that they placed a much larger emphasis on the storyline of the game. So the plot basically revolves around this guy named Jack who needs to win the cash in order to fend off the mob. Sam, his friend, hooked him up on the race. That's it. That's the entire storyline, literally. There are no further background information (such as why the mob was so interested in Jack, who are backing the race, what's the relationship between Sam and Jack).

5. Rival match ups are pointless. The game provides background info on them but never mentions why are they your rivals. In addition, their "challenges" aren't all that different from any other regular races in the game.

6. Considering it's a game named "Need for Speed", one would figure the game to bear more of a sense of speed. Surprisingly, you can't tell the difference between driving at 120 and 180.

7, The new rewind feature is essentially a checkpoint system like any other shooter games out there. What I didn't like about it is how the game seems to be built around this very feature. Whenever you get into a car crash, you'll start off at one of the checkpoints instead of just having your car reset. In addition, if you are unable to stay on the road even for a tiny bit, you'll be sent back to the most recent checkpoint.

8. The "career" is only slightly over 2 hours long. You will, however, be spending a lot longer than that since you will reattempt the races many times due to factors mentioned above. As a result, the game becomes a lot more frustrating than it should be.

Bottomline:

It's simply not worthy of a three year development cycle and is certainly not full price. Wait till it's in the bargain bin. You know what, even when it's in the bargain bin, don't get it. It's not an experience unique enough to command a fan base of its own. Just get Midnight Club: Los Angeles if you're looking for a budget arcade racing game, or NFS Hot Pursuit if you can shed out some more cash.

When Rock Band rolled out last November, Harmonix/EA had some quality control problems with the first wave or two of guitar controllers. Being an early adopter, I lived through these issues and was rather frustrated that this much-anticipated game couldn't deliver on its promise.

It's April, now, and the separate guitar controller is finally available.

So, should you get it, or will you end up sending it off for repair, or returning it, or just plain smashing it out of frustration?

The first thing to address is the quality of the controller. It gets bashed a lot for the one serious defect the first batch of controllers had: the strum bar on many, many of them broke after just a few hours use.

Obviously, that's unacceptable, and Harmonix and EA both knew that. They jumped on the problem with both feet and by the end of January, virtually everyone who had problems finally had a controller in hand that wasn't defective.

So let's put that on the shelf. It's in the past now: I have two of these controllers and they both work as well as or better than any GH controller I ever had.

Let's address the real question: is this a controller you want to play with?

It's decidedly different from every Red Octane GH controller, to be sure, so if you're a big fan of the GH controllers, you will almost certainly not like this controller the first time you pick it up. Unless you're an absolute creature of habit, my suggestion is to give it some time: play with it for a few weeks, recognizing that your performance may actually degrade a bit while you get accustomed to the controller.

* * *

Here are the most obvious differences that affect performance:

1. The neck of the Rock Band controller is longer and thinner than the GH controllers. It feels more like a real guitar, which encourages you to position your hand more like you would on a real guitar. For me, this was a big plus, but I have a friend who much preferred the thicker neck of the more toy-like GH controller.

2. The fret buttons are flush with the neck and nestled directly next to one another, with each button being as wide as the distance between two frets on an actual guitar. The result, again, is that your hand is positioned more like it would be on a real guitar. The touch of the buttons is as good or better than the best of the GH controllers, but on some units, they produce a loud clacking sound. I've played with some that are loud and some that are quiet, and while it's a bit annoying, it's not a game-breaker.

When playing last night, I really felt the smoothness that the fret button design allows: I barely felt my fingers pressing the buttons, yet I was flying through song after song on Expert with better scores than I could ever have imagined getting when I played Guitar Hero.

3. This is the biggie, the game-breaker for most GH players: the strum bar. It all comes down to whether you like the click of the GH controllers or not. A working strum bar on the RB controller is a wonderful thing, frankly. Again, it was designed to feel more like playing a guitar or bass, and as a bass player myself, I'm impressed with the feel...you can really "twang" the bar like a string. The strum bar has a lot more touch than most people realize. Sure, in the end, it's still a switch that either connects or doesn't, but it doesn't have that "all-or-nothing" feel of the GH strum. I love this softer touch...it really allows for that casual/careless rock star feel that comes when you only have a few notes to play during an extended drum solo.

Yes, it feels very different from the GH bar. Learning to alt-strum (that is, alternating between up-strum and down-strum) with this controller is trickier and takes some patience, but once you've got it down, it's every bit as precise as it is with the GH strum bar.

Of course, a huge complaint is that this strum bar doesn't have the click that some people need as a reassurance that they've actually strummed.

I hate the click, myself. It destroys the illusion that I'm playing an instrument rather than a video game. "Match the clicking of your controller to the brightly colored dots!" No thanks.

* * *

I'll admit that moving from a Red Octane GH controller to the Rock Band Strat takes some getting used to, but it's absolutely worth the effort.

If you've never played a GH game before and you're interested in Rock Band, I'd ignore what anyone says about the comparisons between the two controllers: one is not objectively better than the other, and if you learn on the Strat, you'll probably find the GH controllers to be the annoying ones.

For me, games like this are all about feeling like you're actually playing a song, even though you know you're not. The more they can make me feel like this plastic thing is a real guitar, the happier I'll be.

The real measure of this controller for me is how much more I enjoy playing guitar-based games with it than I did with the GH controllers. As a result, my game has improved tremendously over what it was after months of Guitar Hero.

I didn't purchase mine from Amazon, but from gamestop store.

First one I got, it will not sense me have tilted the guitar, and not matter how hard I try to tilted it, it will go into overdrive mode, I have to press "select" button to use it.

Returned, and got another one. This time, when I tilted it, it does go into overdrive, but not as sensitive as the one that came with the whole package. The stock one will go into overdrive if it senses me slightly going upward. This one I have to do it hard, or maybe twice or three times before it would go into overdrive, it is kind of frustrating, but just to share with you guys the experience that I had.

I've waited 4 months for this guitar. Since the initial purchase of my Rock Band on PS3, I've waited patiently for the 2nd guitar to complete out the band. Choosing not to go the devious route to get my second guitar was hard, but worth it.

The guitar is exactly like the one in the Rock Band box set and works seamlessly with my PS3 and the game. Now to win more fans and money.

We purchased this to give as a Christmas gift to our children as they enjoy playing Rock Band / Band Hero with their friends and were wanting another guitar to allow for more players. When it arrived it came in a basic brown cardboard box with the item information printed on the side, not in the original box which was tacky in and of itself, but the box was also covered in large red dots leading my husband and I to believe these are seconds or refurbishments being sold as new.

The product information should note that it is not shipped in the original box and that it may be a resale item. The guitar itself is finicky and does not work as it should. The keys are loud (the clicking is very distracting) and tend to stick and do not always register when they are being pushed. This does not work as well as our original Rock Band 2 guitar that came with the set when we purchased it last year. We are not pleased with our purchase at all.

I wish I had read through the more recent reviews rather than the most helpful as apparently others have experienced similar issues. BUYER BEWARE!

I just got this today, and it works perfectly fine if you don't want to go into overdrive. Trying to deploy overdrive with this thing made we want to scream. I felt like smashing it into tiny little bits because I would spend so much time frustrated at it while trying to deploy overdrive that I would completely fail out of the song. Don't buy this. Look for the newer model.

There is not much to this game. I bought it for my 6 year old grandson and after about 3 hours of playing the game he said he beat it. Of course I didnt believe him but after I checked sure enough he completed the game. So basically it was a very, very short game. not worth the money at all and not even close to the first game.

First off I have owned the frag fx version 1 controller and I had some great fun with it. It wasn't the best and it doesn't make you godly. But for us PC players switching to console it was good enough.

So when the wireless version came out I jumped on this deal. However when I got the controller, it was to my dismay, completely unusable. Like the other reviews said, the controllers move in "chuncks" and I have noticed considerable delay between the controller and motion of the character on screen. On top of that the sensitivity of the Y axis and the X axis is not the same. It is way harder to look up and down than left and right. So it is pretty easy to just get disoriented when you are using this controller. Basically, you go from an "uber" fps gamer to a noob using this controller. Completely the opposite of what the company is advertising.

I returned my controller and I am going to try out the fragnstein. If that does not work out then I am stick with my version 1 fragfx. Which is actually a decent product and half the price if you really wanted a mouse and keyboard feel.

Edit: 12/9/2009

I bought the fragnstein and I have to say that I am completely blown away by it. It has far exceeded my expectations. The controller ,in terms of functionality and performance, blows the fragfx pro OUT OF THE WATER. The difference is night and day. With the fragnstein, the movement is smooth and crisp and it really feels like I am playing on my computer. It has even exceeded my regular fragfx in terms of performance.

Please save your money and buy a fragnstein.

I recently bought the Frag Fx Pro wireless as my wired Frag v2 controller was starting to show signs of wear and tear. I so much loved my Frag v2 controller that I figured that the newest version, which was wireless, could only be that much better. Boy was I wrong. It took me only one night of playing Modern Warfare 2 to realize that this product is complete garbage. The mouse is HUGE, which you might think would actually make your aiming more precise and accurate, but because it is so large you almost have to use your entire arm to move the thing and aim. The 2000 DPI Laser also adds 8x as many points precision to the mouse than the previous 300 DPI Optic that the Frag v2 has, causing the player to traverse what seemed like much more of the screen while aiming. These two things combined (large mouse, 2000 DPI) slows down your aiming to the point you can barely track moving targets. On top of that the movement of the on screen pointer is jumpy. Not sure why unless it has to do with maybe a slight signal delay due to the wireless nature of the product. The new firmware v3.4 might help some of these issues, but I just can't see if fixing all the problems that I experienced.

If you are looking to up your game with a split controller I suggest you go with the Frag Fx v2 wired controller. It helped me increase my kill ratio by about 50% and lasted about 2 years before the wire started to fray.

The fragpro remote is a cool idea if you used to play 1st person shooters on the computer.

The one I got works fine, just from time to time the mouse doesn't always want to link up with the system. Also when it does link up I still refuses to operate.

Overall a great setup (when working)

I got my Frag FX Pro yesterday, and was able to use it for a total of 3 hours before it stopped working. At first I thought I just needed to put in new batteries, which is ludicrous, but I did anyway. It worked for another hour and then stopped working altogether regardless of new batteries. Splitfish has a history of poor quality, I owned the Frag FX V2 before the pro and I had to return that as well. Now that there is an alternative mouse controller from Bannco, I will try that instead.

I used the v2 model and its been great to me. I just hated the cords! I got this model early from an Amazon email and was excited about wireless. Well, well, well. I set it up and all I was able to do was to get the mouse connected. The nun chuck connected only one time! I did the firmware update and all but the nun chuck would never update. The other parts did. I called SplitFish and man they were rude. The guy "Darren" on the phone seemed soo pissed talking to me. He really wanted to get me off the phone so bad and told me to try to update again and call back Monday or leave message and he will call me back. Of course he didnt. I'm sending it back for an exchange but I'm wondering if I should get my $ back! BTW, out of the box the mouse had something rattling in it too but it still worked. I even asked the Darren if that was normal and that pissed him off more! LOL!!!

First of all, I'm not a big gamer. But someone had, a long time ago, recommended I play Indigo Prophecy, which I loved very much, it's a very enjoyable game. A few years later I had found out about Heavy Rain. I was really excited to hear that Quantic Dream came out with yet another game. I saved up some money and traded in my Nintendo Wii just so I could buy a PS3. At the same time I purchased a PS3, I also got Heavy Rain. I was like a little kid playing this game, excited, in suspense. I love it.

I was highly impressed on the graphics and story line. It's definitely improved since Indigo. I love how they put the extra effort into making the story lines so different, you really have multiple endings, much more than the previous game. I love that the chapters are set up for you. You can go back, redo a chapter, or just go back to play it differently to see a new out come. I have played it once, I am playing it again so I can see the difference.

My favorite character in this game is Norman Jayden. He's the best since he does have the cool ARI glasses.

Overall, enjoyable and will leave you wanting to go back and play it again. It is aimed for a mature audience so beware for some brutality.

This game is awesome! The characters look and act like real people. I feel like I am directing a movie whenever I play. I also like how you can go back and see how scenes will play out if different choices have made. The only problem I have is that the game doesn't last longer. I have beat it like 3 times already. I wish the storyline went on forever!!!

This is the most intriguing game I ever played. This story is sharp. It is unexpected and keeps you on your feet every minute of playtime.

"Heavy Rain" is probably the first of its kind in terms of modern video games. It's "interactive storytelling," which means that the game isn't played like a typical role playing game or shooter. Instead, you're guided by choices, which are often performed through Quick-Time Events (here on out referred to as "QTEs.") It has an excellent story, gorgeous graphics and a truly innovative form of game play. But there's one MAJOR thing wrong with it...

...the voice acting. The voice acting is absolutely horrendous. The characters, all of whom are very interesting and in depth, are voiced by the most incompetent actors I've ever heard in my life. They make the voice actors from the original 1996 "Resident Evil" sound like Oscar-worthy performances-if you don't know what I'm referring to, go look up videos of the cut-scenes from 1996's "Resident Evil: Director's Cut." If you think those voice actors are terrible, they are GODS compared to the voice actors for "Heavy Rain." That is my only complaint about this game in general-everything else is pure brilliance.

Let's talk a little bit about the story, but without giving too much away. You play four different characters, in what I've referred to before as "Rashomon format." It's the same story told from several (in this case four) different perspectives. The story plays out like a suspenseful thriller movie, along the lines of "Se7en." There's a serial killer called "the Origami Killer," who uses extended periods of rain to drown his victims in ditches in an undisclosed area somewhere near Manhattan-they're all young boys, with whom he leaves behind an origami figure and cryptic notes to the boys' fathers.

The one playable character, Ethan Mars, an architect, has lost one son in a tragic accident and is left divorced by his wife, living in a slummy neighborhood where he sees his surviving son, Shaun every other weekend. One weekend, Shaun is abducted by the Origami Killer, and Ethan falls into a world of paranoia, violence and sadistic games set by the mastermind which can either make or break the case to find Shaun before the rainy season drowns him. Then there's Norman Jayden, an FBI profiler brought in on the case to help find this notorious killer. Norman is highly intelligent and uses an augmented reality program to help him keep track of evidence-unfortunately he's addicted to a (fictional) drug called "Triptocaine," which he can either refuse or abuse. There's also a young reporter named Madison Paige, who is an insomniac plagued by constant nightmares during the little sleep she gets. Madison usually stays at a hotel in a seedy part of town during her insomniac episodes, and this is where she comes in contact with Ethan. Finally there's Scott Shelby, a hard-boiled unorthodox private detective who has been hunting the Origami Killer for many years, and he's determined to find out as much as he can about this enigmatic monster with the help of a young woman whose son was killed by the murderer everyone wants to find.

That's the basic setup. It takes place, like I said, in an undisclosed urban sprawl outside Manhattan during hurricane season in October. The environments are absolutely beautiful, and the story is wonderfully written and depending on the choices you make, there are several different endings to obtain. I'm not a particularly hardcore gamer, but I played the game on easy mode all the way through and got the best ending on my first try without having ever played it before in my life-which is fun for me, because I like games for the story-which this one has in abundance. I'd recommend it if you're a fan of movies like "Se7en" or "American Psycho," it's more like reading an interactive book than playing a game-but that's not a bad thing! It shows that video-games can transcend their typical style and form a true work of art.

All in all, a great game with a great story, it's fun and entertaining. Except the voice acting, which is terrible.

Games typically are just shoot this & shoot that. This game is a very nice breath of fresh air and honestly probably one of the best exclusives that PS3 has to offer. I couldn't recommend it anymore. Very deep mystery & problem solving skills are needed.

These skins are not what I expected. They were better. They are not sticky so you can easily remove them and re adjust them if needed. They stay in place really well, and are pretty thick so they take a beating. Would Recomend to anyone looking to drees up there drum set or guitar.
