Universal Microphone for Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, PC

by Komodo

Purchased online (not from Amazon) Did not work with Wii games. Tried 2 different Disney sing it games as well as Grease sing along and it did not work. Sent back to company and they tested it with Rock Band and said it worked fine. I told them I do not have Rock Band but other games and they said since they can get it to work they will not give refund and mailed it back to me. So now I have a mic that does not work and had to pay shipping twice. Save you money and buy another brand!

i order that mic i wild ago, and the size is nice, but the rest is horrible, the mic is very fragile, if you drop it, he will broke like a mirror, cause its made with the cheapest plastic ever !! even a toy mic for a 5 years old kid is better in quality of plastic.

don't buy this crap, it don't worth a single penny.

By integrating both the MOVE (motion) controller AND the Nav Controller, this little accessory has the ability to add A LOT of fun to just about any shooting game.

Lacking an actual Move-based shooter, as in 'a real game' I could only test the Precision Shot 3 with the Time Crisis demo but, from what I experienced, I'm now a believer. And this is saying a lot from someone like me who is not that much into shooting games. I will take a few paragraphs to report my findings.

PACKAGING, SET UP, etc.

The gun comes in a nice cardboard box, easy to open.

Setup consists in sliding in the optional Nav Controller holder (gives you an optional second grip) and attaching the MOVE and the Nav. Very quick. Both controllers can be easily and quickly removed.

The gun comes with a little instruction sheet, useful because it shows how to properly handle the wrist strap and a warranty card. Warranty, by the way, is limited to 30 days.

FEATURES

I will list what I believe it's important to know about this gun:

All buttons no exceptions can be reached while the controllers are mounted on the gun. Having the MOVE button on top of the gun may seem awkward initially but... this is the way it's going to be on any gun prop AND it took me only a couple of minutes to get myself used to it on the Time Crisis Demo you press the MOVE button to lower your shield so that you can shoot and it felt natural quickly.

Gun's trigger pulls the MOVE's trigger. Once the MOVE controller was attached and locked into the gun's body, the MOVE responded instantly whenever the gun trigger was pulled.

The Nav attachment gives you a SECOND grip. This is a good thing for several reasons. It makes the weapon easier to handle, the targeting is more precise, you actually get a second trigger (the Nav's) that some future games may be able to take advantage of and, of course, all the buttons are on the weapon. The demo I played did not allow for movement but Nav's analog joystick the D-pad and the trigger felt in the proper place and I'm looking forward to actually use them in a game.

This gun has sights. It's one of the many little features that makes using this prop so much fun.

The back of the gun has an opening used not only for taking out the wrist strap but it makes it possible to charge the MOVE controller while mounted.

Finally, one not-so-good thing: the second hand grip, where the Nav is mounted, is not as solid as I would have liked it to be. But, this being a gun, not a sword or an axe, I don't expect it to break for as long as I am aware that this is a breakable plastic prop, not a real weapon.

GAMING EXPERIENCE AND EVALUATION

I noted already that the only 'game' I was able to play so far was the Time Crisis demo. It's something that you can finish in 5 minutes or so and all you do is aim and shoot you don't move around independently or duck for cover. I played the demo with a Dual Shock and with the Precision Shot and so did my kids. We all agreed that 'the gun' was far superior to the Dual Shock in every respect other than the rumble which is weaker on the MOVE. With the gun, you can easily strafe and quickly kill dozens of foes if in automatic fire mode because aiming is quick, precise and intuitive. The shape and the weight of the gun, the pulsating light it's red when you fire and the little rumble that is transmitted into the gun's body while firing make using the Precision Shot a lot of fun and a lot MORE fun than the Dual Shock control.

Since all the buttons are within easy reach, with the gun's trigger pulling the MOVE's trigger, this should work with any and all future shooter games. The second Nav grip is just genius in my view. When it comes to MOVE-enabled shooters, it would be hard to beat this gun. Now, only if we could get SOME games. Please?

Amazon's 5 stars are awarded when you can can say "I love it" about the reviewed item. Well... I really do. Just about everything other than the second grip being a little weak is well thought and well designed. This gun prop really adds value and enjoyment to Sony's MOVE when playing a shooter.

To put it simply, this game is a step toward what I (and a lot of people) have been craving for ages; a true monster truck simulation. I don't want my trucks to shoot rockets, I don't want my trucks flying 50 feet in the air, and I don't want my trucks doing 14 backflips in a shower of sparks while there's no noticeable damage afterward. I want them to handle like monster trucks, crush cars like monster trucks, and get destroyed like monster trucks.

I do not own this game, but I borrowed it from a friend as I've done the past few Monster Jam titles. I played it for a good while before deciding that it still isn't quite worth my money for what it is (at least not until it drops to a much lower price). I will continue to pass up buying them until they can make a game that's more sim-like. They don't have to remove the arcade features if they don't want to, but I at least want the option to have realistic physics and damage to the trucks and the things they're destroying.

It's a little sad that the best monster truck freestyle simulator to date is still Stuntman's stunt creator from all the way back in 2002, yet every subsequent Monster Jam game pumped out is the same as the one before it with updated graphics. This game is finally starting to move away from all that, and I like it. I know some people may not, but that's why I'd rather see 2 options of how you want the game to control; simulation-like or arcade-like. If they can successfully create a game that makes me feel like I'm actually driving a hulking metal monster truck and not a giant piece of plastic shaped like one, they'll have my money in their pocket on release day.

I see a lot of people hating on Monster Jam, but honestly, this game is no AAA game title. However, this Monster Jam title is definitely better than previous games. Sure there's a few things that maybe aren't so great, but honestly, as a tester for this game I played this for months and honestly it's not even close to being a terrible game. So if you're into Monster Trucks or want easy trophies, I'd check this game out!

Others write much more detailed reviews than I do, so I'll only address the one part I wish I'd known before I bought this.

I have the Wii edition of the prior version, Monster Jam: Urban Assault. This one continues many of the prior game's themes, but omits the one that my kids and I liked the best: Devastator mode, where the objective is to drive around different city and industrial sites smashing as much stuff as possible. There are also no racing circuits through non-stadium sites, where the prior version had races through residential locations.

The physics model in this one appears to try and be much more realistic as well. This isn't a bad thing, but it does make it much more challenging for kids. I'm interested in whether this aspect of the difference is due to the platform change from the Wii to the PS3, or if it is common to all platforms.

It's still a fun game, but had I known that my favorite parts weren't included, I'd have waited until I found it on sale.

UPDATE:

Now that I've had this game for a week, I felt compelled to update my review and lower my rating one star.

Like the previous version, you have to make progress in the game to unlock access to additional trucks. This game makes it way too easy. There are only 20 levels, and you reach the next level after every 2-3 events, which take just a couple minutes each. So after 5 or so hours play time, I've unlocked everything. I could raise the difficulty level and do it all again, but the game just isn't interesting enough for that.

UPDATE2:

I think it's useful to know how interesting a game remains over time, so I thought it was worth adding that to this review. After unlocking all the venues, the game quickly got boring for me and my kids. In fact, the youngest asks for the previous Monster Jam game (Urban Assault) on the Wii instead. So we haven't touched the game in months, having used it only in the first couple of weeks of ownership.

The Nyko Playstation 3 HDMI Cable gives you maximum quality for a minimal price. The picture & sound of PS3 Games on my HDTV are truly awe inspiring. Nine feet of cable should be enough for most people. It's a high quality cable, being that it's insulated & extremely flexible, and you get all of this for a fraction of the cost of other name-brand cables. You can't go wrong with this product!

This cable makes setting up the PS3 incredibly easy. When you've got a TV with an HDMI port in the back, you don't have to bother with any of the other cables that are included with the system. The audio and video are stunning, and the fact that you use one cord instead of several keeps thinks from getting tangled and messy.

Buy Nyko Pure HD HDMI Cable Now

For your money this is probably the best HDMI cable out there. The picture from my PS3 improved vastly in clarity and color from my regular cables. This product is sturdy and most importantly cheap! At best buy the cables ran around $60, which is way too much for a cable, I think.

Read Best Reviews of Nyko Pure HD HDMI Cable Here

Average quality HDMI cable. Seems to be standard fair for a decent price without having to pay for overrated monster cables.

Want Nyko Pure HD HDMI Cable Discount?

The best way to get a high quality screen from your PlayStation 3 is with a high quality HDMI cable. This single cable carries both the audio and video signal to your TV in one 9 foot long package.

HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface, and this signal is a straight, conversion-free, uncompressed signal that is as perfectly clear as possible.

This Nyko cable has 24k gold connectors, and shielding along the cable so that other cables and magnets don't have an effect on the signal. This is great for the signal but the mesh cross lines along the length of the cable seem to make it unflexible. We have many cables here for all our systems and this is the stiffest cable out of all the ones we have.

Still, at 9 feet long, it is longer than several of our other cables and that extra length has come in quite helpful. Luckily we didn't need this segment to be TOO bendy and the cable was able to make the length work.

We already had a HDMI cable in place for our PS3 and to be honest we didn't see any eye-popping improvement by using this one. Certainly a HDMI cable in general will give you a gigantic improvement over using the old style yellow-white-red cables! HDMI is a wonderful quality level.

Still, I do believe in general in getting good quality cables not going with the cheapest one you can get. Cheap cables we've used in the past have definitely had issues with interference and noise. It is well worth it to spend a little money on the signal transfer between your console and your TV, whatever cable system you're using. I was quite pleased with the balance here of the quality connectors and shielding with the relatively low price.

Well recommended.

This is honestly the best game under the One Piece franchise yet. It is an improvement in almost every way compared to the first one. Such as follows:

1.) Instead of 13 characters, there are 27 (37 counting the Pre-skip Straw Hats and Blackbeard with two Devil Fruits).

2.) Where as previously, Chopper and Nami were among the worst characters to play simply because they were under powered or their movesets were terrible, here, they are improved and now they are among the better characters to play.

3.) All annoying Quick Time Events have been removed, as have the clunky platforming sections.

4.) Instead of a measly 20 enemies or so on the screen at a time, there are over double and sometimes triple the amount of enemies.

5.) The Level cap can be raised from 50 to 100.

6.) Each character is very unique in their own respective ways; no two characters are alike in movesets.

7.) the Team strike has been replaced with the more interesting Haki system, which allows you to move faster or do more damage depending on the character in addition to being able to use a support character.

8.) There is a lot more support characters including some that are not playable, but neat to use in your Haki mode.

9.) There is more to do. Rather than just the Story Mode and a couple of other logs, there are more stages, challenges, and stuff the unlock.

Be warned however, unless you use logic (or simply know Japanese), it would be easier to wait for the English version to come out in August, but it is very well worth it. If you do buy this, know that there are guides to help you on the internet (i.e. Youtube).

The game itself (as a fan of all things One Piece) was a must buy for me but after playing it, I really fell in love.

Definitely a top five game for me. Combat hugely improved from the first Kaizou Musou. Story is Non canon but still great & it has many other interesting qualities. Larger groups of enemies,More Characters and even some new combos for the characters from the first game(During Style action) which by the way is very cool. Makes you feel very over powered even on the highest difficulty but nonetheless I would recommend this to One Piece fans, anime fans, people who like beat em' ups etc..

I made a mistake in assuming that this wheel would basically replace the standard PS3 controller L stick functionality. In order to utilize the "6 dimension, multi axis motion sensing" advertised for this racing controller, the game you are playing must support the PS3 six-axis technology. This is not mentioned anywhere on the product packaging nor instructions. Of the racing games I tried (Gran Turismo 5, Grid, Dirt, Motorstorm) only Motorstorm supports six-axis. For the other racing games you are stuck using the D-pad at the left top of the wheel to steer the vehicle! So, basically this is a standard PS3 controller without the analog sticks! Very disappointing!

I was informed by INTEC that due to the lastest firmware from Sony, this wheel is no longer functional or supported. Enough said.

Buy PS3 Wireless Racing Controller Now

Wow, this thing really works! I enjoy Motor Storm, but I don't like racing with the conventional game pad. I also like sprawling in my Lazy Boy recliner when playing PS3 games. That means no mounted racing wheels. Not only is it a great wheel, but when racing motorcycles, you can hold it flat and tilt left and right, just like you would in the real thing. I must admit, since there weren't any reviews on this thing, buying it was a shot in the dark. Not to worry. It does what it says it'll do, and at a very reasonable price. Well done!

OMG My son is only 3 years old.. and every time i was playing he wanted to play with my controller. i got this controller over 1 year now, and he loves it, because it brings an usb and he can connected in his TV, Tablet and in my home computer....

Want PS3 Wireless Racing Controller Discount?

I don't own a PS3; however, when I saw this controller at a store for a cheap price, I told myself it is worth giving it a shot on my PC. After doing bunch of playing around and downloading drivers from the Internet, I got it fully functional on PC. So for those of you who want to use this on a PC, it works fine, including the 6-axis function, but you will need a relatively high technical knowledge and do digging around on the Internet to find appropriate drivers that have no official support. You're on your own to get it working.

About the controller itself. It works beautifully, it does what it says. However, because it is essentially a PS3 6-axis controller in the shape of a wheel, with no way to secure it on a table like a regular racing wheel, your arms get tired pretty quickly. And because it doesn't come with pedals, I programmed the controller such that acceleration and braking works with leaning the wheel slightly forward and backwards respectively.

It makes you look like you're a 10-year-old, like holding an imaginary steering wheel and running around the mall. For a under 15 bucks, it is a fun toy.

High Moon did a great job with Transformers WFC.I still play it to this day. I had high hopes for Transformers DOTM.The game felt rushed. The animations seem choppy and glitchy. They walk around like they're floating sometimes. A lot of elements are the same but simplified not in a good way. For instance special abilities are only for specific characters. the drain ability is only specific to Megatron.

The environments are nothing new, just frustrating at times. Its not a bad game, it can be fun at times. I was just hoping for WFC with the Bay-Formers style. I would rent this before dishing out $60.

Oh and one last thing. I dont know why theres no reviews on the game. did they pay everyone off not to give it a bad review on opening weekend? IGN,GAMESPOT, no one reviewed this game. I feel like a guinea pig for buying it the first day it was out.

Click Here to Read More Reviews >>

Pros: Controls much better than the 1st two Transformers games. Easy to maneuvor, esp. in vehicle mode. Have multiplayer and room for customization & upgrades. Able to use & play a few different characters. Easy to upgrade levels in multiplayer (I played Commander for ~3 hrs and been able to upgrade to highest lvl 20 vs. it takes forever to upgrade in games like COD: MW2 and Battlefield BC1 & 2).

Cons: Short game with only 7 chapters (I rented it from Redbox for the weekend & as an average gamer I finished it in easy mode in abt 6 hrs). Story is average, especially ending (as it probably didn't want to spoil the movie). Graphics is average. No open world, can't climb buildings and environments not destructible. Some glitches that froze my campaign mode 2-3 times, multiplayer mode ~2 times. Also suddenly lost connection 5-7 times during multiplayer games that are not related to my network.

I have the first two Transformers PS3 games and were very disappointed at them because it was so hard to defeat the spinning robots and timed even at easy mode so I was stuck and never moved beyond that. So this one I've found it enjoyable to be able to easily maneuvor my unit. I really don't like to shoot using R2 button and I strongly think that R1 makes so much more sense for the index finger and we can't change it. It also makes sense to have the Drain special ability used only by Megatron (tied well to the story). I still haven't figured out which weapon and why someone in multiplayer mode can easily kill me with one or two shots when most the time I have to shoot 5-6+ even though it seems like it hit.

I very much hope to have a Transfomers game with much more decent graphics such as those in COD & Battlefield. I think it'll really blast people off had the company invested more in that and make this more of an open world and destrutible environment. The new Battlefield 3 from the trailer really set a new high bar in many of those areas. That'll be my wish list.

Overall this is still an enjoyable game, but I don't think it's worth $60. I usually buy games at $20 and even then I was very glad that I just spend $2.15 to have rented this and even able to finish it and played some multiplayer in 2 days.

Buy Transformers: Dark of the Moon Now

I thought that this game would be more fun than it was. I've played through the other 2 Transformers movie games and they were much more enjoyable to play than this one. I found the controls odd and irritating. The movement when in car/truck mode was a hassle and the weapons controls were also annoying both in robot & car/truck mode. Overall this game was not very fun for me. Of course this is just my opinion based on my own gaming preferences. The graphics and sound were pretty good, it was just the gameplay that I didn't like.

This was the first fan I purchased for my 2 PS3's. I could not get the item to stay on the PS3 in order for it to work properly. It plugs into the USB port on the front of the PS3 and has nothing else that holds it, so when it plugs into the USB the other end is not supported and just hangs down from the PS3. So when this happens even when the fan is running its not where it needs to be in order to cool the PS3, therefore it won't work properly. I returned this item after about a day of trying to keep it supported and purchased the PS3 Intercooler TS which works great. If you are looking for a fan, I would suggest not purchasing this product and adding an addtional $9 or $10 and purchase the PS3 Intercooler TS. This item is just a waste of time and money. Would not buy this item again.

If you've ever owned the MH3rd Portable on PSP, you'll love the HD update ported to the PS3. Digitally remastered, the graphics look crisp, fresh, and visually stimulating.

For those that've tried tri or unite, here are some new features that shouldn't be overlooked:

1. customization of felyne companions' equipment

2. guild hall has a felyne kitchen, now called a hot spring, can be upgraded by clearing hot spring quests (put in some serious work)

3. hunting fields in tri are included in this title

4. mountain stream new field

5. hunts are finally easier due to the fact that monster attacks are divided between player and companion

6. tons of new creatures

I've put in nearly 150 hours into this game and am still playing. It's in Japanese, but on PSP, there is an english patch to turn the entire game to english.

Don't import this game unless you have:

1. A good understanding of the Japanese language.

-or-

2. Play a lot (100 hours+) of Monster Hunter games.

I have spent over around 800 hours playing monster hunter games in the last 6 years, and still want to play more. This game is available on the psp, and if you have a "hacked" psp, fans have released a mostly translated version. Unfortunately, due to Sony and or/Capcom dropping the ball, we may never see an official English release of this title. My wife bought me this PS3 version for Christmas. This game is the same as the psp game with higher resolution graphics for an HDTV, you can even transfer your save data between your ps3 and psp. Another cool thing about it is that it comes with the Japanese version ofAdHocParty on the disc. This program has voice chat while you play! With this program on your ps3, you can play this game, and the psp version with anyone else using the Japanese AdHocParty. You can even play the psp version, and the ps3 version together online! There are specific rooms online for English players, so if your a big monster hunter fan, and the language barrier is stopping you from playing this game, I hope to chat with you soon!

*It seems your ps3 must be connected to the internet with a cable for AdHocParty to work. Because AdHocParty needs the wireless connection to be available for a psp to connect. This is ok because if you want to play this game online, your going to need really solid internet to play with people in Japan anyway.

Buy Capcom Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD Ver. for PS3 Now

I have been meaning to buy this game since its release, but decided to give it sometime and wait for an English release. It has been a little over a year since the PSP release, and there has not yet been any progress towards an english release. This PS3 version was released in August 25, 2011. About 8 months from today (March 15, 2012). I decided to wait a bit for an English Release of this PS3 version, but recently decided i was done waiting (I have been waiting for 16 months for an English release of the PSP version, but there has been no announcement of it being translated). So i decided to buy this game, even tho i have NO experience of the Japanese language. The only monster hunter game i have played is Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP). With 0 japanese knowledge, about 100 hours of monster hunter play, and this being my FIRST game i have ever imported, I figured id be screwed if i bought this game. However, That was not the case. After playing the game for 10 minutes, i realized its basically a clone of MHFU, except it has more customization options for your Felynes, and a other improvements. The menus function the same way as MHFU, except for a few which had more or less option. The only trouble im having is figuring out the equipment information and what is needed to make it. Basically making equipment. After walking around town, i started a mission with my usual weapon (didn't even bother to go to the training school). Once i entered the map, just looking at the screen, the controls from MHFU came back to me, and i instantly started doing my favorite combos and such. The first monster i fought died easily. It felt like i was playing MHFU, but with different monsters, different maps, and a lot more Badass (1080P XD). This game supports 480P, 720P, 1080i, 1080P & 3D TV's..Wish I had one :(

Things to know...

1) This game supports online, but you MUST have a wired conection (Ethernet Cable) to play online. You also must make a Japanese PSN account to download the Ad Hoc Party utility (Free) needed to play online. You can play this game online on any account, but you must make a Japanese PSN account to download the utility. Up to 4 hunters may embark on a single mission together, and whatever you receive/complete/do Online saves to your Offline account (Also supports voice chat). For instruction on making a Japanese PSN account and downloading the Utility, I recommend you go to Youtube and search "How to play MHP3rd HD online"

2) If you need help in translating Menus/Materials/Items/Quests/Text, I would recommend you go to google and search "MHP3rd Translation" (Even tho the translations are for the PSP version, this game is a digitally remastered version for the PS3, so all the gameplay is the same as well as the Text)

3) In U.S.A, the X button is usually to Accept/Yes/Proceed, while the O button is to Cancel/No/Back. In Japan however, its backwards. X is to Cancel/No/Back, while O is to Accept/Yes/Proceed. This will be confusing at first -.but you'll get the hang of it soon.

My ratings...

Menu Ease = 8/10

Graphics = 10/10

Controls = 10/10

Online = 10/10

OVERALL = 10/10 for a Must Have game ;)

with some explanation from a friend of mine who has played this game for a while, he taught me how to play and i caught on pretty quick

of course there were some parts that were really irritating, but the game was fun to play when we both got online and played and chatted

my friend did not know any japanese, he remembered the feel of the game all from playing the previous monster hunger games

i suggest that you dont buy this game unless you either know what your doing, understand japanese fluently, or have a friend who can guide you through the game,

One thing you must know to play NBA STREET HOMECOURT: The key of any game is the GAMEBREAKER. Once your trick meter is full you can activate the gamebreaker by stepping into the yellow circle in the center of the court and pressing triangle. At this point, you can freestyle dance/dribble and really make some crazy combos. BUT BE CAREFUL. If you get TOO FANCY you may get your gamebreaker swiped by the other team. That's when things can get really interesting. Overall, this is an extremely entertaining game and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking to have an all out, crazy, unrealistic dunk-fest. By the way, that's not a bad thing.

I've played all of the NBA Street games since the PS2 and Xbox versions. I think this is a nice fourth installment. I questioned it for some reason last year when I had it for the 360, but I purchased it for the PS3 and I really like it. It has a very high replay value. Unlike the NBA Live 08 or NBA 2K8, it's fun and not too serious. I mean all the power up moves are like NBA Jam (arcadic). I just think when you play video games they should be fun and no too serious. I like how you can play w/ or w/o a shirt and being a female I like the WNBA option as well. All and all it's a lot of fun, plus now it's like $30 not $60 like when it first came out and that makes it even better.

You cannot go wrong w/ buying or renting this game, you won't be dissappointed.

Thanks

If you're looking for an arcade basketball game, this is it. If you haven't played an NBA Street before, they are some of the most quality arcade basketball games on the market. Gameplay consists of many tricks and maneuvers to gain points and there is a lot of dunking involved. The game isn't realistic to any degree, but is a lot of fun to play co-operatively or competitively. However, the game does get boring pretty fast and therefore is only worth it if you plan to play it casually with friends.

its good becuase there's a lot of tricks u get to do, and how you get to pick people to make your own team.

I dont know why so many people have been hating on this game. I think it was a great first NBA Street game to hit the next gen systems. I dont think any NBA Street will be as good as Vol. 2 but, this game still has a lot to offer. In High Def it looks awesome, and although almost all of the tricks and dunks are totally impossible to do in real life, it is still really really fun! Plus now that the price is dropped its not hard to find this game for under 20 bux.. definately worth it!

Here we go again... Bioware releases another game and I lose another 100+ hours of my life to gaming. After 11 hours of play (completing 8% of the story) I thought I'd share a few thoughts in case you're considering purchasing this game.

What's good:

Bioware RPG's always have great stories with deep background and entertaining character interactions. This one does not disappoint. New for this game are multiple character opening stories-hence the "origins" in the title. Depending on your class and race, you experience an extended opening that really sets the stage for your character and gives you something to think about. The opening for the mage included two quests to play through and a several difficult decisions to make before it merged with the main story line.

Voice acting is excellent, graphics are good and 1080p (though nothing like Metal Gear Solid or GTA4). Combat is fast, furious, and just a little out of control-and exciting.

What's bad:

I had hoped to see the next generation of RPG, but the game's architecture feels like reused modules from other Bioware games. Character gen is from Mass Effect, 3rd person view and movement from KOTOR, inventory mechanics and interface much like Baldur's Gate. It's all competently designed, but feels a little worn. But maybe Bioware is suffering from Pixar Syndrome if it doesn't outdo itself with each new release it seems plain.

My only real complaint is that character attributes and abilities are not sufficiently explained. The small paper manual says things are explained in detail in the in-game help but that is not the case.

Lastly:

Be aware that this game isn't suitable for kids. It's a mature game with some disturbing subject matter-that's why Bioware calls it a "dark fantasy." Kudos to Bioware for aiming for a serious game, but know what you're buying before putting it on the holiday gift list for your little ones. (Wait until after they're in bed and have an epic time playing it yourself!)

I cannot praise this game enough! it will be one of those I play again and again!

the size and scope of the game is incredible. when I started off I'd wager I spent two hours learning about my character's background.

you pick one of many origins (i.e. elf, dwarf, human, etc)(I chose Elf Mage)

and then begin with your origin story (which is like watching a full length movie and so well written the time just flys by)

and then you're tasked with your first quest and the game begins.

this game has more freedom of choice then most, such as make a deal with a demon, or kill it to save a child. (it offers you Powers Not to kill it)

some of the quests have moral choices that will really pull on your emotions about people and things like power over friendship and the feel you have an impact upon the surrounding world.everything you choose to do has a "ripple effect" so your action will be known throughout the world. the characters control via one of two ways,

one is using the hack & slash method though this is harder then hitting pause so you can set all your mages attacks etc.

there's a lot of micromanagement in this but for loot mongers and rpg lovers this will be one of the years ultimate treats I assure you. there seems to be loot everywhere for those that search every area rather thourough. I also must say the amount of DLC available at this time for the collectors edition is amazing. (non collector edition owners will pay 6.99 and 14.99 for both dlc packs)

the graphics are excellent (though not mind blowing)

particle effects are wickedly done and the quests are crafted well enough to let you know you have many approaches to each "situation"

and will pull at your emotions. if you weren't lucky enough to get this collectors edition no worries I know the goodies will be released as DLC to everyone eventually since they listed prices (wardens keep 6.99 and the stone prisoner 14.99)

you have many abilities such as settinhg traps, stealing, dual wielding and so much more. while the game may be a bit "baldurs gat-ish) it's the BEST RPG on ps3 without a doubt.

the skill trees are similar to those you've seen in baldurs gate, diablo II and others. another thing is they must have over 200+ voice actors since I have not heard ANY voices repeat.

excellent actors such as Tim Curry, Kate Mulgrew, Claudia Black and more!

an excellent creature variety, large skill trees,

great loot and D&D style gameplay make this title

one of my all time fav's.

Graphics: Excellent and crispy. not mind blowing but perfect for me 4 1/2 stars great spell effects! excellent creature models and good variety of them.

Sound: the voice work is Top Notch and hundreds of actors

even the crickets put on a great perfomance! 5 stars!

the sound is a star here, the voice talent is top notch.

Gameplay: the micromanagement might put a few off but most will never let go of the controller since they got the controls so spot on for the ps3 on this title. it's amazing! 5 stars.

the controls are well mapped to the ps3 controller.

Fun: Yes Yes Yes! betray a friend or help him in a "forbidden" quest, help a grey warden or not?, kill a demon or trust the mouse? so many choices it's unreal! want to slay a dragon? you can!

want to go into dungeons and hack away, you can!

it's a Mature game so some of the things you can do are a tad graphic and as someone reminded me you end every battle absolutely painted in blood.

the game is brilliant what more can I say? 5 Stars!!

Overall: the package wraps up nicely into a 5 star Must Have!

the Gods at Bioware have greated the best "baldurs gate" style game yet! it's brilliant! you have to buy it asap if you don't you're missing THE BEST RPG experience of the year and possibly in my lifetime. (it's Very similar to Baldurs gate Dark Alliance)

this coming from a Hardcore

70's D&D player!!!

that's what I'd call an endorsement!

The PS3 version is 17.3% better than the 360 version for 4.2 reasons.

NO SPOILERS

I picked up both versions. I have two identical TVs, one bedroom, one den, both 50" 1080p Panasonic G10s. For this review I put them side by side in the den, PS3 hooked up to one, 360 to the other, and choose the same origin story. I played the PS3, my wife played the 360, we both took the day off of work, a "Bioware Holiday."

BIOWARE

The Bioware RPG is one of my favorite video game genres. KOTOR 1 is still my favorite story. I played through Mass Effect 7 times. If you like Bioware, you will like Dragon Age.

KOTOR 2 GRAPHICS

Bioware didn't make KOTOR 2. Until now. Dragon Age's graphics in general look like a last generation game, upconverted to HD. And why should they not? This game was 5 years in the making. Personally, if I could wave a magic wigglestick, I would magically wish the graphics into the year 2069, to play in my PS9 in my flying car. Unfortunately, I live in a condo that doesn't allow wigglesticking. So the choice is (A) Play the Bioware game. (B) Don't play the Bioware game. (C) Eat a cup cake. No one plays Bioware games for the graphics. You play for the CYOA storytelling.

6 COMPLETE CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE NOVELS

Dragon Age is 10 Novels long. With 6 unique hero journeys. That can be twisted good or naughty. Warrior. Magic. Thief. Hybrid-Hybrid. Bioware is the only developer on the planet that makes this kind of beautiful uniqueness. This kind of awesomeness only comes around once every few years. Is this flavor of awesomeness perfect? No. Is amateur pornography perfect? No. Sometimes the pacing is off, or the dialogue excessive, but it gets the job done. The job is to experience a genuine human story--even if you're a lesbian elf. Dragon Age is fantastic video game storytelling. And better written than most fantasy novels.

BLOOD SPLATTER OR POTPOURRI?

I'm going to give Bioware the benefit of the doubt and believe that after battles my characters are splattered with blood and not potpourri. It's hard to tell visually, but I don't think they would censor themselves because this game is, like, totally Mature.

GAY SEX NO NUDITY

My wife likes lesbian threesomes. In books. In movies. In video games. In our kids' crayon drawings. She had never played a Bioware game before, but she likes role playing, and I told her Dragon Age has lesbian threesomes. Now, like with most video games, the depiction of sex isn't much more sophisticated visually than taking two barbie dolls and slapping them together. And there's no nudity. Because Bioware understands the genuine human condition--that people make the special love with their cloths on-even if you're a bi-sexual dwarf. So if you like realisticly-sized breasts well-covered with beige felt bikinis, then you, my friend, are in for a PG-13 flavored treat.

CASUAL VS HARDCORE

My wife played on easy, I played on normal. If you're an uber-genius, like me, who enjoys micromanagement, obscure RPG tactics, and general strategery... Then prepare to spend a lot of time, with the game paused, in clunky interface menus, because that's how real men play. That's how my grandpappy played his Bioware games, and his grandpappy before him, back when Bioware wasn't even Canadian, when they were still French, and the TVs had 11" screens and were powered by fire--usually dry hickory. So if you want that kind of authentic gaming experiece, you can have it. But if you just want to enjoy the story, crank that menu to easy, slump back in the couch, and unbuckle your pants for a good time.

PS3 VS 360

Like with all games, it's a choice between graphics vs framerate. The PS3 has slightly better textures, color saturation, contrast level, resolution. The 360 is less pretty but smoother. The PS3 is the supermodel with arthritis. The 360 is a Ukrainian gymnast. You get to choose who you want to take to bed. But since all you're going to do in bed is talk... It's not such a big deal. Unless you put two 50" plasmas right next to each other, you're not going to see the difference. I'm going to keep the PS3 version (because I like the controller better) and give my 360 copy to my favorite charity FVGFBO that provides fantastic video games for blind orphans.

BUY IT, PLAY IT, LOVE IT

* UPDATE

I have played 115 hours, beaten the game twice, tried three of the six origin stories, watched every sex scene, won every topless hottie boss battle, and found "teh secret nipplz." Personally, I feel this is the best Bioware game to date, the best written video game of all time, and a genuine evolution of the Bioware formula. For those of you fleeing in terror from Adult Content, know that, like in real life, bi-sexual dwarf sex is awkward, optional, and over in less than a minute. You can get through the whole game without "going hairy."

PS3 owners have been dying for a good RPG to hit the console and Bioware delivers with Dragon Age: Origins. RPGs have become few and far between and it is nice to finally have a game that is defiantly worth the full $60 price tag.

This game has six different origin stories that you can choose when you create your character. Each origin story is a small little start to the game that basically explains where your character comes from, and why they are getting involved in the story's main plot. Each origin story is completely unique which gives some good replay value. The game play time of the origin stories is about 2 hours. It can be longer or shorter depending on the type of player you are. The six origins are: Human Noble, Mage, City Elf, Dwarf Noble, Dwarf Commoner, Daelish Elf.

As you can guess from the origin stories you have three races to choose from: Human, Dwarf, and Elf. The stereotypical three races in fantasy games. Mages can only be humans or elves. Your choice in race and origin story both have an effect on your characters base stats.

You also get the choice of three classes: Warrior, Rogue, or Mage. At first that sounds pretty crappy only having three choices, but there are specializations that you come across later in the game. For example a rogue can become a bard and a mage can become a shapeshifter. So as you play, the choices will begin to open up. You automatically get two specializations as you progress through the game. You can get more though depending on how much exploration you do in the game (quests and reading books).

Every origin story ends at the same spot; your character being recruited into the Gray Wardens. Gray Wardens are warriors who fight the darkspawn. This is where the main plot of the game takes off and your off to start your adventure. While the origin story is only a couple hours, you still get great replay value out of the game because everywhere you will come across choices where you have to make a decision that effects the game. Each time you play through you can choose different options and make the rest of the story different.

Combat in the game is highly customizable. The basic formula is your characters all auto-attack, so you only press the 'X' button once. It is not a hack and slash type game in this regard. While you are auto-attacking you can use spells or abilities to do more damage, do crowd control, or turn the tide of the battle. You can do combos, for example you can freeze an enemy then cast your stone fist spell to shatter them and instantly kill them. You can put an oil slick on the ground then use a fire spell to light the oil on fire for some extra damage. You need to use caution though, friendly fire is possible!

You have three basic options for combat. Full AI control where your party members act on their own. You can customize that AI in a rather extensive way, similar to Final Fantasy XII gambit system. The second way to play is to take direct control of your party members, switching from your main character to a party member to make them use a specific ability or spell. The third option is full control where you pause the game and issue specific commands to every character and they never do more than auto-attack unless you tell them to. The choice is yours on how you want to play.

The graphics in this game are to be honest kind of dated. They are not mind blowing and you will not go "WOW!" when you see them. That said, they are not horrible either. This game was in development for a very long time which probably contributes to them being dated. The PS3 version does have some frame rate problems, but they are not game breaking. It is enough to notice, but not really that bad and after awhile you stop noticing. It's really right on the line of being able to notice and not being there at all.

Character customization is as good as you can get. You get to assign your atribute points (strength, willpower, magic, constitution, etc) yourself, you get to pick skills however you want (some require minimum attribute points), and you get to pick the spells/abilities you want (again, some require minimum attribute points). If you don't like this level of control, you can press a button and the game will auto-level your character. This customization also extends to your party; you control how they level up and what they learn. In addition, your party will continue to gain levels even if they are not in your active party (you get more playable characters then you can use at one time) so you don't have to worry about leaving someone behind.

Initially when you create your character you can also fully change their looks. There are lots of sliders to play with, not just a couple like most games. You can also have any character be female or male.

This game has a HUGE story to it. There is lots of lore all over the place and you can spend hours reading it all. There is also romance for those who want to do that, your main character can get into relationships with other characters and there are some steamy scenes. It's PG-13, you won't find full up nudity.

With that I'll go into the pros and cons.

Pros:

+Great combat system play how you want!

+Several hours of gameplay

+Promise of two years of DLC support from Bioware

+Great replay

+Great character customization

+Great Story

Cons:

-Poor frame rate at times

-Jerky cutscenes

-Dated graphics

-Limited camera (3rd person only, fixed distance)

Scores:

Gameplay: 5/5

Graphics: 3/5

Sound: 4/5

Replay: 5/5

Overall (not an average): 4/5

I'm typically harsh with reviews and am a true believer of using the full scale. I consider 3 stars to be 'average' and not bad like most people. 5 stars is perfect, 4 is above average, 3 is average, 2 is below average, 1 is awfull. I would consider this game to be above average. It is not perfect, but it is really good.

In brief: if you like role-playing, and you have a PS3, this is the game you've been waiting for. Don't hesitate. Get it.

Pros:

+ Role playing for real, here. Your character choices determine who you are and how you start, and your choices really do determine how things turn out, and what other characters think of you.

+ Beautiful graphics. In particular, the character appearance integrates perfectly into the gameplay. That's not just some random body-shape fighting or walking around out there, that's *you*, funky hair, interesting tattoos and all. No one looks weird or distorted either.

+ The automatic notes are the best I've ever seen. Quests are tracked carefully, and where you should be going is easy to figure out. Whole conversations are logged. A "Codex" keeps information about any new person, place, or thing.

+ Gets going fast. After a brief, skippable movie and personalized intro, you're into the game. No lengthy, boring tutorial.

+ There are a good number of character options, without being overwhelming.

+ Everything is so well done and realistic, it's highly immersive. Just what an RPG should be.

+ No DRM. Instead, each game comes with a unique code you can redeem for bonus equipment, through the Playstation Network. THIS is how anti-piracy should be done. (Though this hasn't been as big an issue on the PS3 as on the PC.)

Cons (all pretty minor!):

Not terribly original, at least as far as I've explored. The movie scenes look straight out of The Lord of the Rings movies. The story is interesting but not amazing. Gameplay is reminiscent of Bioware's D&D based games, like Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights... but not exactly.

Dialogue is mostly played out by actors in real time -which is great! -only stopping on occasion to let you decide what you'll say. But there's no real pause button! The only way to pause a conversation if you get interrupted is to use the PS button, which is slow, a bit clunky, and not what it's really meant for.

The cut scenes, while beautiful, are a bit jerky, especially when they first load up.

Neutral:

* Very violent! Great if you like that sort of thing, not so good if you're squeamish. You're literally blood spattered after a big battle, and stay that way for a while. I imagine the settings can be tweaked, but that's the default.

* Everything is new, if, as I said, not especially original. This can be good or bad depending on how familiar you like your games. I found myself stumped on several occasions wondering what talent to pick or attribute to train, because they're all unfamiliar, and not explained all that well. And so often RPGs promise amazing skills that never turn out to be useful... though so far, they all seem well used.

* You must stay in a certain area until you complete certain storyline quests. You cannot wander freely. Some people like that, some people hate it. I'd rather wander freely myself, like Oblivion, but I'm fine with it.

* No multiplayer.

Overall: Really, really pleased with Dragon Age: Origins. I can't come up with a single significant complaint. Unless it becomes horribly buggy, I don't see coming up with one either.

I picked this game up to replace last year's version, and as a huge fan of college football I was pleased to see some neat additions (such as icing the kicker) that became a big part of the lexicon during last year's crazy season.

If you've played any of the games in the NCAA series, you know what to expect. Some new features for this year's version include "celebrating with the mascot" where you can run over to the mascot after running a touchdown and perform an animated celebration (mascot worshiping you/dancing around/etc.). The sideline players/cheerleaders/coaches actually exist this year, unlike in NCAA 08 when they mysteriously weren't on the sidelines during a game. You'll see cheerleaders dancing, players on the sidelines getting out of your way, etc. so the stadium atmosphere is much more alive than it was in last year's version.

Some new gameplay options are tweaks to the way running plays work. No longer can you just click 'go' and push forward, you can now find and exploit holes in the defense, you can get your offensive line to shift to one side to cover your option play, you can basically fine-tune your plays a bit more (as well as bluff your play art when playing side-by-side with a friend, something you couldn't do before).

On passing plays, you no longer have to worry about the AI intercepting the ball constantly. If they aren't facing it, they won't catch it. If you throw it directly into coverage though, do expect to be picked off.

Tackling has been upgraded, as has evasion. You can evade tackles if you know what you are doing, and you can also one-arm tackle, hit the player so hard they bust a flip and fall flat on their back, and basically do much more than just dive and pray like in NCAA 08.

Other neat features such as online dynasty mode, the ability to set up songs from playlists to play when certain things happen, downloading rosters, etc. give you much more in terms of having customization over your game.

Basically, each particular area in the game has been tweaked in just the right areas, and this is much more of a transition than 07 was to 08.

Bottom line: If they take what they have here and improve it for NCAA 10 then you can expect me to be a happy gamer for a while to come.

My only caveat with the PS3 version (I have both 360 and PS3) is that the controls are not quite as fluid. More often than not I was passing to the wrong guy, or lobbing the football like a girl. This is probably just due to the sixaxis way of handling the game, but maybe also because I was leaned back when playing and it probably didn't like that orientation. Otherwise excellent choice for your system.

NCAA Football 2009 is by far the BEST yet. Sure, there are still some areas that can be improved upon or fixed. But, the game play, crowd interaction, icing kicker option, and many many other things make this an impressive and incredible game. I have been playing this nightly and can't seem to get enough. This WILL have you screaming from your couch just like watching real NCAA football.

COOL ITEMS:

Icing the kicker: Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but it's a cool and welcomed addition to the reality of football.

Turnovers aren't quite that easy: In 2007-08, picks and fumbles were all over the field. Now, having to be more aligned with the ball and needing a bit more skill, it's not a turnover free for all.

NOT SO COOL ITEMS:

Celebrate with the Mascot: It's cool for the first few times but gets a bit repetitive or boring. Would be great if you could use select buttons to execute a celebration (or unlock celebrations with 'user' points

The graphics can be a bit "choppy". Someimes the ball magically moves out of the QBs hands or receptions go through a players head/arms. These glitches should have been fixed by now considering the technological & graphical improvements already made.

Guessing the defense when you turn the ball over? What does this really get you other than an intermission? And added feature would be gaining coaching experience points when getting it right in order to unlock hidden playbooks or even plays of the other team (game film for future games).

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE FUTURE (IF EA EVER LOOKS AT AMAZON): User tackles and such don't do much for you: Would recommend making 'user points' like you get with Madden. Maybe then you can earn points toward player improvements, coaching improvements, or even buy things for your campus (a new library, new uniforms). Just would make it even more fun to knock around people and have interaction! Include this and a celebration addition and it'll be even greater!

Overall I give this 5 STARS and recommend it to anyone that LOVES football. It's as real as it gets!

I was hesitant about buying this game after being disappointed in the last several years versions, but I will say this year is an improvement.

I like the improvements made with the recruiting assistance, the player graphics and animations are better, I like the way the pre-snap routes will be squiqqly when playing on the road in a hostile environment, the re-addition of the cheerleaders is a good thing, and just playing the game is funner than last years.

I am disappointed in the way the crowd looks though, and there are a few glitches that bug me as well, such as when you throw passes near the sidelines your player will tip-toe and stretch to make the catch and fall down, even if they're not right next to the sideline, and have plenty of open field ahead of them. There are still some things that they can be improved upon to make it an even more enjoyable game playing experience, but I still like it.

First thing...this game is far and away a superior title to last years horrendous offering, and don't get me started about the 07 version. Gameplay is much improved with the game having a more natural feel and flow to it overall. You actually get a sense that you have some control over what you're doing, and what you may do next, when it comes to running with the ball. The previous versions were nothing more than an advanced guessing game with some less than intuitive button mashing going on to try and get to the next level. With 09, you can see the play developing and can react accordingly. The passing game benefits from this as well...I no longer feel immediate pressure to get the ball in the air the second I snap it. There is no issue with setting up to throw and finding a receiver for the most part. Of course you don't have all day either, and it's this solid balance that gives it that more authentic feel while running your offense.

Defensively...there is still alot of guess work involved...especially with rushing the passer. I wish it was more intuitive in regard to collision detection with the offensive lineman while using a defensive line player. I'm hoping this is something that gets easier to gauge as I continue to play. Linebacker play isn't all that bad, but you have to be careful not to lean on that left stick too much before the snap, or you will quickly put yourself either offside or out of position. Secondary play might as well not be allowed. I don't know anyone that ever bothers to start with a defensive back when playing these games.

Overall...very fun game. Would like to see some of the old PS2 bells and whistles added back in...like editing my coach, or playbook editing...but this is still a very fun game.

It looks amazing as well! I am so glad that the players no longer look like someone placed some plastic army men under a heat lamp anymore. The sizing and scaling of the player models is more true to life than it had been on next-gen consoles. They all still look like their skating up field still, but this is a very small issue considering that they have definitely improved on the player animations when tackling and making plays. (I flipped the first time one of my players broke into the open and then "looked back" at everyone after a few more steps)

The mini-games seem like they would be a great way to have fun online. Not sure how interesting the online dynasty will be...but we'll see...and one last thing...the recruiting has been revamped to make it as easy or involved as you would like it to be. (HUGE improvement!!)

Bottom line...BIG fun...grab your wallet...pick this one up!

I purchased this game for two boys who have really enjoyed this game. The only drawback is that it is so much fun...they don't want to stop playing it. As part of the game, they had to choose a major and then take exams. Which I thought they would hate, but they actually love it. The game requires that they maintain a certain GPA. And they compete in the football part as well as the GPA part. It's funny to listen to them answering the questions and trying to remember what they had learned previously in a class. Not sure how much fun this would be for someone who just wants to sit there and play video football non-stop all day and not have to think about anything the entire time. While the tests are easy enough, if you don't know the answers and you don't maintain your GPA you will have to start your football game over again. It's No Pass, No Play in a video game.
