Let me start out by saying that I am a HUGE NASCAR fan. I play NASCAR 09 a ton because it was the only NASCAR game available. After seeing all the videos and all the hype surrounding this game, so far it's been a bit of a disappointment. The game needs major patches to fix issues. If the game didnt have so many glitches and silly mistakes, it could easily be a 4 star rating or an 8/10. Below are the pro's and con's after playing the game for 3 hours. For every pro, their is a con and usually the con is greater.

Pros:

Paint booth: It's cool to fully paint and customize your car. It's almost identical to Forza's system.

Attention to detail: The in-car camera is awesome. You actually see your drivers feet hit the clutch or put his foot on the brake. Also will move his hands to shift. If you drive as Dale Jr you can see his driving gloves are black Adidas.

The pre race introduction is cool. Announcers talk about the track, fireworks go off, fly overs, etc..

The menu: I find this to be really cool. People walking around outside, your crew working on the car, and it's easy to navigate. When selecting tracks it shows like a pit pass with stats which is cool.

Gameplay: The cars are sensitive and don't require to much steering wheel input. Cars feel solid and drive like a 3,500lb+ car. Physics are pretty good.

Drafting: Finally other cars will work with you and push you

Pit stops: Animations are really cool. To see the lug nuts fall off and gas spill out is neat.

Setups: You can tune your car as much or as little as you like. Perfect for the simulation or arcade driver.

Pace car: Under caution its cool to see an actual pace car

Cons:

Paint booth: Making your own decals and stuff is cool, but the controls can be clunky. NASCAR 09 did it right by having an online feature and then import it to you game. Would be much easier to make cool designs instead of something a 2nd grader did with crayons.

Attention to detail: Things like the caution lights being on while the race is under green is silly. Also if you spin through the infield and end up on pit road you get black flagged for speeding.

Damage: Even after flipping over and hitting cars head on, my car looks like I hit a deer instead of another car at 190mph

Race modes: If you want to practice you have to go to a separate session from the main menu. No other cars are out there with you. If you choose to race, you get to qualify and then race. Can't even change your setup in between.

Hitting the wall is a joke. Your car basically just comes to a stop. You don't smash into it and then your car spins out of control. If you drive through the grass your car doesnt spin out.

Cautions: This is even more a joke. I spun out, 10 cars hit me, and no caution. I had to drive in reverse for about 10 seconds before it came out. If you spin by yourself it still wont come out even if you wreck hard.

No DNF's: You can destroy your car as much as you want, drive with full tape on the grille, and nothing happens. Maybe you lose a little performance but that's it.

Pit stops: It's great to have the animation but having to wait 10 seconds for it to load kinda kills it. Also if your under caution, the game should ask you what you want to adjust well before getting on pit road.

Online: One word....horrible. If you try to bump draft you wreck basically. And if the caution flag actually does come out, the crashed car has to sorta drive back to start finish line from this over head blimp camera. One time I just stared at a stopped car on the back stretch for 5 minutes. Then when we were about to start the race, cars started flipping and spinning. Online is useless until they fix it.

Career mode: It's basically just a season mode. Go to the race, race it, and move on. How come games like MLB 11 The Show can have ticket prices, free agents, stadium upgrades, trades, sponsors for the stadium, etc etc and we get a season mode? A real career mode would feature hiring a pit crew, buying a shop, building chassis for different tracks, hiring more drivers to make a full race car team (like Richard Childress Racing), engine shop and engine builders. When you race you should earn money and that money should be used to buy better crew chiefs, better products, larger shop building, bigger sponsors, higher expectations, etc etc. Have an off-season where you can test at tracks to improve your car and team or public events to gain fans and impress sponsors. A merchandise section where you can sell die-casts, memorabilia, shirts, etc etc to earn money and gain fame. Would be cool to start out as a rookie in a 1 car team and over a season or 2 be a major powerhouse and have a full 4 car team.

Wrong paint schemes: I know a patch is scheduled to update the roster and paint schemes, but seriously, why make a game with last years schemes and cars? It would be like MLB 11 The Show releasing the game with players on last years teams. Every sport releases their game around the start of the season with current rosters, NASCAR should too. Over the course of the season, have patches and downloads for new car skins or if drivers get dropped or a new driver starts.

Night races: Another head scratcher. I am racing at Charlotte and it's dusk the entire time. There are no day to night transitions. Either have the race in the day or at night, not in between.

HUD: I don't want to see how many experience points I am getting for "Dominating." I also don't want car radar which is a small icon at the bottom of your screen showing where cars are around you. Actually, this might be a PRO since you have no rear view mirror and can't tell where anyone is unless you look behind you which usually isnt a good idea while doing 180mph around a turn.

Spotter: It's great that he can inform me to drink tons of fluids cause its hot, but it sucks when he cant tell me there is a car low. As soon as a car comes low or high, spotter should tell you that. I don't care that I'm leading and can do this all day, I care if a car is coming up on me or I'm approaching lap traffic. Maybe he got himself a cold beverage and missed all the cars around me.

Difficulty: Even on VERY HARD the game isn't very hard. Very hard would be riding in 20th position fighting for 19th. Very hard is being at Daytona or Talladega and being stuck in middle of the pack cause there is no where to go all by yourself. I raced at Charlotte and after 10 laps I had almost a 3 second lead. Then all of a sudden by lap 13 the field was right behind me. If my tires went away in 10 laps or the AI just got amazing, that's pretty stupid.

As you can see, a lot of issues. For their 1st time out the game is playable, but only to a certain degree. If you want online, skip this game until a patch is released. I am going to stick to single player until the new car paint schemes come out and the game is fixed. I hope this helped.

Here's where I'm coming from. I got started on Papyrus sims on the PC 10-15 years ago. I went from those games to the EA Nascar games for X-Box but was really disappointed, particularly in the graphics, even after putting in some time on them. I didn't bother to even try the EA versions for the PS3. Today, prior to buying Nascar 2011, I've been driving F1 2007, Dirt2, and GT5 for the PS3. I love all three games and they have set the standard for my expectations. With this in mind, to sum up my thoughts on Nascar 2011 while it approaches (but doesn't meet) the standards set by the other three games, it blows away the EA games. I am glad I bought this game if anything else, to support a new developer in creating a good Nascar racing game again. It looks like this will be more of a process (with patches) than an event (with initial release).

I bought this game yesterday and put in about three hours with it last night, and raced in 17 different online races, trying out Martinsville, Daytona, Talladega, and Atlanta. Here is a list of Likes, Eh, and Dis-Likes:

Likes -

* Graphics (other than the resolution, see below) the immersion is good, I like the sense of speed, and I can pick out detail a good distance down the track, which helps in choosing a passing strategy, avoiding a wreck, etc. I caught myself getting tunnel vision on the racing line, and using my (virtual) peripheral vision for gauging where I was relative to the wall, the yellow line, other cars, etc.

* Spotter so far, so good. Yeah, the repetitive "you're clear" can get a little annoying, but when in traffic I relied entirely on the spotter's guidance and I thought it worked well

* Little details The bits of rubber building up on your windshield. Bumps in the track. Changing light conditions with shadows, reflections, the change in sound of the air as your car gets close to the wall, etc. I am sure I will notice more as I spend more time with the game.

* The Draft I like how the draft is portrayed with the option of having it visualized with "wingtip contrails" coming off the spoiler of the car in front of me. Looks cool caught myself watching the draft instead of watching my racing line. The feel of the draft seemed right to me as well.

* Two cockpit views one "to scale" and one "wide angle". I switched between both depending on whether I wanted to try to use my mirrors or not. I don't usually race any sim using the outside views.

* Ticker tape at the top of the HUD good for a quick glance to see time differences and closure rates between you and the car in front, and the car behind

* Damage model not bad, didn't experience it much, but did notice rubbing the wall a few times in one race was starting to really impact my top speeds on the super speedways

Eh -

* Force-feedback programming seems simpler than F1, GT5, or Dirt2. Granted, these other sims have different types of racing, but even Nascar driving in GT5 had more "feel" to it. I hope Eutechnyx improves this with a patch.

* Driving physics I thought the superspeedways were a little easy using the default setups, but not a big deal. The default setup for Martinsville had me suffering from push most of the time and running slower than the pack, which indicates I needed to do some work in the garage to tweak the car for my tastes. So this was a little more of a welcome challenge. I should mention that I turned off all driving aids for my entire session.

* 720p resolution as soon as I looked at the back of the box, I felt a twinge of disappointment. I really was hoping for 1080p, to rival GT5. I found that the more I played the game though, the less I cared about the lower resolution.

* Mirrors not a lot of help. They are available in one of the cockpit views. I haven't used the "radar" display yet as I mainly listen for guidance from the spotter.

* Customizing the controller buttons for different functions is clumsy. I hope they fix this with a patch.

* Experience points popping up based on game events kinda cool, but I will likely disable this function in the HUD

* Crashes believe it or not, I think they might be a little over-done here. It's a little hard to suspend disbelief during some of the wild rides (spinning like a top in the air, that kind of stuff)

Dislikes -

* Multiplayer bugs. Granted, this was the first night for the servers to go live, and I set my expectations low. Still, I felt like I was a beta tester for the online portion. There were long load times depending on the number of drivers. One session failed to load at all, and I had to reboot the PS3 to get out of it. Occasionally the other cars would disappear from the "map view" of the track. Other times just the proximity of a car (no contact) would lead to a bizarre crash. Still other times, if I was on the pole, my race would start but the other drivers were stuck at the starting line. Eutechnyx has some work to do here. Even after all this though I mean I raced 17 different rounds (at an average of 10 laps per race), and I had fun!

* Rolling start right before the green flag both online and offline races are too sloppy here

* Yellow flags, particularly in multiplayer inconsistent, and distracting with the cut scenes, pitting, etc. Some wrecks really should have had an immediate yellow, yet they didn't. I think if the settings for Yellow flags was more sensitive, online races would tend to be cleaner.

* You choose your car/driver at the beginning of the game, and then your stuck with that for the rest of your game-save! What if halfway through the actual 2011 Nascar season I decide I am not a Kurt Busch fan (for example)?? Am I stuck driving his car anyway in the game, or having to start over my online driver from zero experience?

A few things I've yet to try out Career mode, pitting during a race, in-depth car setup. Look to other reviews for opinions on these. Oh and I don't begrudge Eutechnyx for not reflecting the actual 2011 Nascar last minute details I mean if they update that with a patch, that's cool, but it doesn't detract from the game for me. I would like to see them use the new points system though.

In summary I am glad I bought it on opening day, bugs and all. I had a good time running multiplayer last night even with the bugs, and the time flew by. One sign of a good game is when you have to make yourself quit I kept thinking "ok, after this next race I'll quit and go to bed. Well, maybe one more... Ok, this time I really mean it, just one more..." If Eutechnyx is committed to working out the bugs in the online action and some of the game mechanics, then I am committed to supporting their establishment of a new Nascar racing franchise.

I think the game is great and I like it a lot, yes there is room for improvements too. compared to previous nascar games (I have), this one is a huge improvement.

Graphics: they are good, but I also own GT5 and if you compare it to GT5 you know it could be better.

Wheel: I use it with a Logitech wheel and the game gives you great feedback on the traction, loose (over steering) tight (under steering). in my mind I think it does a good job there and you can feel how much traction you have in the corners and if you will hit the wall or not.

when a yellow comes out it takes you to the video of the thing, I don't like that but is ok not a big deal.

I was going to give 4 starts but why not 5, I'm having fun with it.

* they said before releasing the game that there will be a free upgrade to change the game to the 2011 season and get the new track, don't think is out yet, waiting for it.

Thanks,

Okay so it doesn't have every little nitpick customization, but let me tell you what From a Dad with two kids, and barely enough time to even WATCH the races on TV, I'd rather spend my time RACING in the game, and not setting my car up.

I set the difficulty (which it remembers in my profile), I pick the track, and press "x" and next thing I know I'm at the back of the pack working my way up! Note: I don't even qualify or any of that. (which I could do if I wanted, but choose not to)

Racing on this game is configured to be about as "arcade pick-up game" -ish as possible and it succeeds amazingly well.

The one thing that drove me nuts in the beginning was that it was pretty hard to get used to everything, but now that I've logged a few (and by few I mean under ten since I got it) I'm more comfortable with the accel and brakes and have turned off the "throttle/brake control" button might not be a big deal to hardcore gamers, but it's a big deal for a game that is just meant to be played once in a while.

Score score score all around!!!

Graphics are great, sound is what you'd expect, and controls are spot on.

No complaints, even at full market price it's worth it if you've been waiting three years for a Nascar racer!

Enjoy it! (and stop whining)!!!

p.s. = for all you whine-babies complaining about it not being "sim-enough" how's this: I race with gas and tire wear OFF and my damage is purely COSMETIC! So how's that rub ya???? LOL Just hae fun with the darn thing!

If there were 3.5 stars, I would have a tough choice on what to rate it, so I gave it 4 stars. I can't believe people are giving it 1 and 2 stars, that's ridiculous. I am going to give a simple review by showing you the pros and cons of the game.

Pros:

-Graphics are very impressive, best on a NASCAR game yet.

-Sound is also commendable. Realistic engine sounds, announcers and spotters are solid.

-Online play is great and well put together. Seems as if everyone always races fairly, no glitches that I have seen thus far, and presentation is as good as it gets.

-Presentation offline is fantastic. If you race in a season, it's all there, pre raace introductions from the two announcers, the flyover, and it also shows the current points of each driver going down the rows of the starting grid. Menus are easy to navigate, options are good, driver selection is complete.

-Finally, paint schemes are included again.

-Bump drafting is here, which is good and bad. Sometimes other drivers would help me with a slight push, other times they bumped me out of the way nearly crashing me.

-Replay factor is great. I always want to play it for some reason or another. It will definitely hold fans over for the 2012 edition.

Cons:

-Feels too much like an arcade game for my taste, but as a seasoned veteran to these games since 2003, I found pleasure none the less. Wish they would have made it a bit more technical and less pick up and play. A solid effort, but I hope to see a change next year.

-Based on 2010 season, we will have to wait for a DLC update for new schedule and drivers.

-Load times are sometimes annoying and longer than you would expect.

-Experienced a few minor glitches with online play, but nothing serious.

-Caution flag only waves for major accidents, if you spin out you basically don't have a chance of catching back up.

-Currently waiting for patches to fix all the above issues. One has already came, waiting for the 2nd one.

We shouldn't bash the game. It's Eutechnyx's first try at a NASCAR game and if you ask me, it's a heck of a lot better than EA's past few attempts. It is a very solid package. There are glitches, yes, but overall, it is a must-own for fans of the sports, such as myself. Days are gone where we once had PERFECT Nascar games such as Thunder 2003 and 2004, so get used to not seeing those any time soon. EA really disappointed me with 2005 through 2009, making sub par, boring, unplayable Nascar games, but hopefully Eutechnyx can save the genre. I'm sure anyone would agree with me when I say the best ones were 2003 and 2004. Easily. If there was a PERFECT Nascar game, it would have the depth and presentation of Thunder 2004, the gameplay and finesse of Thunder 2003, and the graphics and online play of the current 2011. So we still wait for the PERFECT Nascar game. In the mean time, pick this one up, you will not regret it. NASCAR the Game 2011 will definitely feed your hunger for the spectacle that is NASCAR racing.

Let me start off by saying that I have not encountered a single glitch, zero, zilch. (Of course, after I print this, it will probably glitch out on me.) That being said, this game is a great basketball game. The first thing you have to take into account is the fact that it isn't a deep sim. If you want that, you probably would be better off buying 2k9. The gameplay leans more towards arcade style without it being over the top. There is a deep progression system which gives the game a RPG type element. The addition of the downloaded game of the week system adds new content to the game every week during the season which is nice. There is a lot to do in this game from the Inside story system, to the Franchise mode, to quick play and online. Each area of the game gives you rewards for accomplishing tasks. Also, it includes trophies so you can brag to your friends on how much of a baller you are. Try this game, you may like it.

I bought this game because it is one of the few 1080p games. The graphics in the title screens are great but the game play is no better than a 720p game. otherwise the play is fun and realitively easy. I wish there were a few more secret things in the game but it is ok to waste some time with.

You cant just listen to the reviews, this game to me is the best, and im not even choosing it just to say, I HAVE ALL THREE NBA GAMES, and this one is definitley amazing, the only prob with the game is that you are to acuurate, on a online game i shot 96 points with kobe, fun for me, not other dude though. Definitley a fun game and graphics are very good, and i love the replay system!!!

I was very skeptical at first. All the professional reviews were raving 2k9 and dissing this one. Found it on black Friday deal for single digit prices. Iam very happy that I bought this one. Technically this is the best looking basket ball game out there. Graphics looks stellar. It may not have all the nuances of 2K series.. who cares. Unless you are fanatic it wont matter. The game plays silky smooth every thing works as expected. If you take time and setup your defense it is easy to play. Seriously give it a try if you see it on sale. There is a high chance you will like it.

I like the story mode in the game. You start from the streets and grow up to pro. It is better than madden be a pro mode. There is a good story that makes you to finish the single player campaign. If you want to show case the power of your PS3 pick this one... you friends will be awe struck when they see this one in action.

I like for my things to have some "pop". Plain black is simple and boring. When I saw the graphics on this, I had to have it. Never have I seen a twisted mad hatter as twisted looking as he is (he's even drooling!).

My biggest fear on getting things like this, is the application. I've had some horrible luck trying to get stickers lined up and no air bubbles and my efforts are for nothing, because I have to ditch whatever I was trying to do. These are nicely pre-cut and you can make sure of the exact placement before taking off the back, then carefully put them on. Watch for air bubbles because those tricky little boogers don't come out easy, and the adhesive is strong.

After spending some time, and patience, I carefully got all but two of them on, and it looks fabulous! Just like the picture!! However, I DID leave two of them off because they covered up some of the air vents, and I just don't like the idea of that. But SO worth the money... and it does come with decals for two controllers! :)

Very happy camper! :)

Bought this dual charge base not too long ago and am very pleased with its performance. very straight forward as far as functionality, charges 2 controllers (can charge up to 4 because it has 2 usb ports on its base) and it plugs into the wall so no more need to leave the ps3 running if you need a charge.

The charger's design is very smart looking and it makes for a nice controller organizer and display. While the controllers are charging, the holsters are lit (red while charging; green when fully charged).

Highly recommend this product for anyone who owns a ps3.

Worth the 30 bucks I paid for it, it allows me to be super lazy. It looks much better than I even thought it would. Can be tricky to get the usb ports to line up the first time or two, but once you get the feel it becomes easy. The controllers lock in pretty well, I even saw someone wall mount this with the controllers being held against gravity. Overall a good piece of kit!

This is a very practical way to charge more than a one PS3 control at the same time. You can charge two control in the vertical outputs, and two more using de USB cables. Fantastic

This charging station is easy to use and does a fantastic job. It is also the most aesthetically pleasing charging station for the PS3 I have seen. It matches the glossy black with silver accent that the PS3 has.

This is a nice little charger for the price. I was planning on buying mine from Amazon.com, but I actually picked it up from a local store tonight instead.

My favorite part about this charger is that it plugs into the wall, not the PS3, so I don't have to have it on to charge it or use the USB ports on my PC to keep all the controllers charged. Another nice little feature is that when you plug the controller in a red light turns on and when the charge is complete it turns green. Also there are 2 USB ports built into the side of this charger, so it cradles two controllers, but can charge two more if you have two charging cables. Very nice product. Well put together, looks nice, only one cord now. If you're looking for a quality charger, this is it.

I really enjoyed this game. Overlord is one of the few titles on PS3 that will allow you to play a strategy-type game (but also retains some optional first-person smiting of your own). You're leading a pack of minions of several types, and have to use them strategically to win your battles.

Even though at a first glance the Overlord you're controlling is an evil creature, the gameplay allows you to proceed through the game doing mostly noble and helpful deeds, while listening to lots of humorous feedback. Throughout the game, it retains an enjoyable light-hearted atmosphere, without the usual "save-the-mankind-from-doom-and-gloom" setting.

Animation and graphics look a bit dated, but this doesn't get in the way of fun. Definitely, a recommended purchase if you're looking for a new type of PS3 entertaining. If you want to try it out, just download a free demo from the PSN store, I think it gives an accurate impression of the whole experience.

When this was put out for the X-Box 360 and PC there was complaints about controling your minions and no map, bugs in the system. There have been great improvements for the PS3. There is a map, so now you don't run around in circles. Monions are very easy to control, they are still playful and love getting drunk and pissing on the floor. It doesn't take much to upset the towns people.

I believe anyone who like adventure games would enjoy this.

Overlord Raising Hell is a good game if you like to command units to do your bidding.

In this game you need to reclaim your dark kingdom because your castle has been destroyed by some meddlesome heroes. They killed your predecessor so now you need to take over your kingdom once again. In the beginning of your game you go in search of your different types of minions because they have been scattered over the world. If you are good at strategy games you will re conquer your kingdom in no time but you need to have patience. The game sometimes gets challenging because you will be travelling through large lands and sometimes it seems like a maze. The game gets fun when your minions clash with large groups of enemies. Sometimes your minion horde is totally destroyed then you will find yourself fighting for your life so you should always have your best weapon handy.

There are 4 kinds of minions that you can command.

Brown minions are your main fighters and they can take the most damage so you would want to have more of them than any other unit.

Green minions are smelly creatures but they are very sneaky while guarding. They are almost unnoticeable if only they could take a bath so you may not want them to guard against animals. They are also the only unit that can get rid of plants that give off noxious fumes that kill any other minion.

Blue minions can cross water and are the only minions that can any other unit would drown they are very magical and can raise dead minions if you get them there in time. They are horrible fighters but if you fight spirits like wisps or ghosts they are the only unit that can combat them.

Red minions are fiery creatures that can throw fire balls at enemies. They are good at killing unarmed units because they can light them on fire. Red minions are the only unit that can extinguish flames that would kill any other unit.

If you use your minions and weapons right you will find yourself becoming a very powerful overlord.

I can honestly say that when I picked up this game I didn't expect anything unique or different. I was so WRONG. This game starts with a slow story and not much background information. But as you progress through the game there are hints about your past. You soon become obsessed with the story and humor. The controls are hard to get at the beginning but it gets easier and the ending is a truly worth it. I LOVE THIS GAME.

Want Overlord: Raising Hell Discount?

I've had this game for some time now. I love the game play, being able to control the minions as you walk around each world. You can decide to be evil and keep the locals under your thumb, or be kind and merciful. (you get more power for being evil) And the game builds as you go. You learn to control your minions, you get new kinds of minions as you go, and new weapons and powers. Control is good and not as complicated as some others say it is. In most games you can control the view of your character with the right thumb stick, but that is used to control your minions in this game, so that is one thing common in most games not found in this one that takes some getting used to, but that was about it. Most the rest of it is learn as you go and enjoy being EVIL!

If you tend to buy the first MotorStorm to get yourself familiar with the game than drop this idea. As good as the original MotorStorm is, it's no comparison to its sequel. MotorStorm: Pacific Rift is a great racing game, but more than just a racing game. The game was improved with even more alternative routes when racing. The graphic is excellent, and the interactions with objects such as smashing into a branch are more accurate. MotorStorm: Pacific Rift is also more realistic such as water cooling off your boost, and smaller vehicles not able to go to certain routes such as deep water.

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift has about 80 races, or more. All categorized into four distinct parts of the island: Earth Zone (basic land fields), Air Zone (expect lots of jump lifts), Fire Zone (lava lands), and Water Zone (beach etc). You will find about twenty-four races in each of the four zones. Some are basic races, some timed races, and some eliminator races where racers are being eliminated while racing (you don't want to be in the back).

You will also obtain points, and gain PS3 trophies for your performances in the game. Unlike its predecessor you are able to play in split screen with your peers if you have additional controllers. One of the many extras in MotorStorm: Pacific Rift is your ability to take pictures of your race (pause, and snap). The good thing about this feature is that you'll be able to snap a picture on any angle since you'll be able to move, zoom in and out, before snapping your pictures that will all be saved in your gallery. MotorStorm: Pacific Rift also has an improved online gaming where you can text/voice/video chat, and invite your PS3 friends who also own the game.

Cons: unfortunately absent in both the first, and Pacific Rift, there are no replays of your race. Hopefully this will be present if they make a third, but this shouldn't be a reason not to buy this game.

When the first motorstorm came out it carved its own racing type. It was one of the pioneers in physics based racing. With every track having lots of branching path, every branch suitable for a different class of vehicles.

Here they have taken it to the next level. Races are much bigger. Apart from mud you also have other obstacles for individual vehicles classes. Small vehicles will get stuck in plants and other terrestrial hazards. This time it is lot more than physics. Some people are complaining that vehicles slide more than the first one, it is intentional as it forces you to use hand brakes for a faster drift turn. Overall sense of speed has drastically gone up.

This game is still Motorstorm at heart. They have added tonnes and tonnes of extras to the game to make it feel very fresh. Things like lava tracks, water jets for faster cooling, high air jumps all add extra strategy. It is not just driving fast. You have to try out all the alternative paths and choose right one based on boost and cooling requirements.

So many behind the scene changes

Explosions will destroy the guys next to you. You can do kamikaze on cliff edges.

If you are small vehicle you can lap behind a big one to clear off the vegetation and pull off at the last second.

Water shower is available only in paths that have more terrestrial danger for balancing. Either it is a rocky path or volcanic eruption.

More and more I play, I keep finding lot more interesting tweaks.

AI is also vastly improved. If you truly race well you will win. There isn't much of rubber necking. I also think the physics respond much better compared to the first one. Jumps and slides feel lot more natural. Graphics seem to be better than the demo. I think they have tweaked the xdr lighting. Every thing looks very polished. I havent seen any crashes or hangs.

There is twice as many race tracks as the original one. There is also an extra eliminator mode. Speed events are my favorite, it is like slalom race. Where the flags appear only after you cross the current one. So it requires lot more agility than just boosting the way through. It is like the old ATV games.

After play thing for an hour or so, when I tried MS1 it was a night and day difference. The new game also loads much much faster than the old one. The vehicle selection screen is lot more slicker and avoids the double loading screen. I love the fact they have added split screen. There is nothing more fun than pushing your buddy off the cliff. Using L1/R1 as action buttons makes the game much more fun.

Hope they keep us busy with more DLCs.

I couldn't wait to buy this game. Every trailer seemed better and better.

I played the original and wasn't too impressed: There was nothing done to incur a sense of speed in the original, and there was no split screen multiplayer. The crashes were the highlight, however.

Pacific Rift fixes both of those problems completely. They've increased the sense of speed by adding more effects and a fish-eye lens, and its a significant improvement. This time around there is split screen multiplayer for up to four players. Two would have satisfied me...

Another huge improvement are the environments. They are gorgeous, probably some of the best looking I've seen to date. You'll drive underneath waterfalls from a mile high that cover the screen in water affects and obstruct your vision, but cool of your engine, you'll jet through forests at incredible speeds, slog through valleys of mud, and pass over pits of lava on an active volcano. The environments are categorized as follows: Earth, Air, Fire, Water. The earth environments tend to place you in caverns mud, and thick forests; air tend to place you high up in the mountains where you'll get up to seven or eight seconds of airtime through unbelievable cliffs; fire will take you over active volcano landscapes that heat up your engine as a hazard; while water environments tend to place you near a beach or running rivers. Just look at the screen shots for the unbelievable scenery.

The crashes are as phenomenal as ever. In one race I played a lightweight rally car, and the last fifteen cars were either monster trucks or heavyweight mudpluggers (hummers/armored personnel carriers). The monster trucks would fight one another, and form swirling masses of destruction if they toppled over, and made for some amazing survival drive sequences. There are other races, such as bike-only races, where drivers flip each other off, taunt each other, and hit one another off of their bikes. There are so many ways to enjoy the game. If you get bored of playing a rally car and trying to speed as fast as you can, you can switch to big rig and just run people over or smash them into things. If you get bored of that, you can be a motorcycle against only monster trucks and try to survive... its up to you.

The farther you get in the singleplayer, the tougher the AI becomes. Toward the end, I found it more important to stay alive than to actually win the race, an example being the monster trucks above. The Ai will become more aggressive and smash into you. While it is at times frustrating, their aggression causes even more crashes and spontaneity.

There are eight or so difficulty levels in the singleplayer, and winning races within specified requirements earns you points and new vehicles, driver skins, and extras (such as concept art). In a singleplayer race, there are sixteen cars instead of twelve. Online mode only supports twelve though.

Online is fantastic. Online mode places you into games with other players of similar skills, or at least tries. When first starting, I found the races to be the easiest because I already completed the singleplayer before hand. There are five or so online player ranks, and the later ranks require you to place within the top three positions if you want to increase at all, so it becomes extremely difficult. At veteran difficulty, you'll actually lose ranking points if you don't place high enough, so it places every racer into their own category, which I thought was interesting and intuitive.

The replay value is very high. There's a custom game mode where you can set the cars, tracks, and time of day for yourself... something that should have been included in the original.

Out of ten points, I give MotorStorm: Pacific Rift a 9.5... the original being a 7.5 due to one type of environment, lack of speed and multiplayer options. Pacific rift fixes all of these problems, and I highly recommend you buy it if you own a PS3.

I love racing games. I love being able to go fast, tearing up the track, and I love that when (not if) I wreck, I can almost feel the pain of it. MotorStorm: Pacific Rift does all these things, and then some. Going fast is just one part of the game, but you do literally tear the track up. Tire tracks get left in the mud and in the dirt or sand, old structures can get driven through and create new hazards for other vehicles, and, of course, the wrecks are bone crunching and make me squirm when they happen. The game takes place on an abandoned tropical island in the Pacific. Having once been populated by man, there are structures there depicting different times it has been occupied. From World War 2 era bunkers and airfield, to a lava overrun beach town, to an abandoned mountaintop observatory. The elements play havoc to your vehicle as well. Bikes and smaller vehicles will has a harder time negotiated the mud and dense brush but can make up time with there acceleration, while big rigs and Monster trucks can tackle pretty much any terrain and take abuse, but sacrifice speed over durability. Also, water and fire have an effect on the boost gauge of your chosen ride. get to close to fire and lava the boost will heat up faster, making an engine explosion more eminent, while driving through water will cool your boost down, but might hurt your speed. All in all, the game is very well made, very fun and if you're a racing fan with a PS3, this is certainly a game to pick up.

Motorstorm is a great arcade game. In my opinion it is offroad ACTION, and less of a racer. I know ACTION doesn't seem befitting of a game in which you drive, but there are too many problems to call it a real racer. Unless you are a big rig or a Monster truck, it feels as if the environment, the other vehicles, and YOUR OWN VEHICLE are all stacked up against you (not in the strategic good way). Let me bring you to a better understanding..........

The environments are beautiful and in motion they're the best graphics I've seen besides Gran Turismo 5. Littered throughout the environments are water, ramps, and fire. Fire/lava is a universal hazard to be avoided by all, water cools your engine, but sometimes deep water can swallow up an ATV/bike. I'm sure you know this stuff. Also sprinkled throughout the environments are rocks. BIG and small. These rocks are obviously placed there as a fun little obstacle, but they have the potential to flip over your vehicle if you roll over it on one side. There are also changes in elevation and tiny hills that will flip over any vehicle. This makes it very hard to master the course for reasons I will further explain. Each con of this game branches out into another con unfortunately.

These rocks are even more of a hazard when considering the OTHER RACERS. You'll be battered and beaten by larger vehicles, and sometimes even smaller ones. At times they even sacrifice their own vehicles to make sure you mess up. If you even TAP a monster truck's wheels or a big rig, the game will go into the slow mo crash sequence (that's why I never use a bike). The damage system while brilliant and extremely detailed is overly exaggerated. I had a rollover (from one of the rocks) while I was going pretty slow and my wheels popped off and all of the paneling and bumpers flew everywhere as well. If you roll over at all for any reason YOUR TIRES WILL FALL OFF. I dunno why, but almost every time I crash my tires fly off. 90% of the time the crash will be in slow mo, and oddly there is an explosion sound effect as if your engine blew up. Its EXTREMELY cool when you first buy the game, but after a month, it gets annoying. I wish there was an option to turn off the slow motion crash "movies." The amount of times you'll crash in the first day will be in the hundreds, I guarantee it. Still to this day, I strongly believe that the crash physics are the best I have EVER SEEN. Nothing else comes close albeit hugely exaggerated. Your car will look like a crushed beer can after certain crashes.

Which comes to my third con, YOUR VEHICLE. I've been playing Motorstorm for a good month now, and most of the time I crashed, I'd say 70 percent of the time is because of the vehicle's handling. I know this is an offroad game, but the vehicles slide around a lot more than they should. The guy even said it in the IGN review. They should call this game slidestorm. Seriously, you will slide all over the place and flip over easily while trying to avoid the Monster trucks and Big Rigs mowing you down. What's worse is that in a buggy you don't feel grounded. You feel like you're just going to fly into the air even if you go too fast. Simply racing becomes a burden, which is why many played the demo and just dismissed it as a stupid arcade racer. I can see why they did though unfortunately.

You never feel completely safe if you're not in a Big Rig or Monster truck. Even the Monster truck feels like paper when driving next to a big rig. The tracks offer many paths for you to take advantage of your vehicle's strengths, but all of this flies out the window after experiencing the "rubber-banding" that everyone was talking about. I've heard the term "rubber-banding" in almost every professional review I've come across, and believe them.....ITS TRUE. On lvl 8 (which I don't believe I'll ever be able to beat BTW) driving effectively becomes impossible. You'll turbo past a monster truck just to see it right behind you 3 seconds later. Its a broken difficulty and so brutally hard that I stopped trying. If I crash in first place, I'll remain in at most 4th for the remainder of the race. In short, you have to drive perfect with all the the listed problems above. Please. Its near impossible!

There is also no variety to the sounds for the vehicles. There are in total 8 engine sounds. 1 for EACH ENTIRE CLASS (atv, bike, bugg, big rig). My dirtbike sounded the same as by Harley-type motorcycle. Thst's just.......bad.......and sad.

A good side to this game is being able to pick it up every now and then put it on medium difficulty, choose a track and time of day, sit back, and look at the beautiful graphics as you drive. On the harder difficulties the game becomes unplayable and is no fun at all for me. I'll admit, I got this because of my long wait for the reason I bought my PS3. Gran Turismo 5.

One other HUGE asset to this game is eliminator mode. The true form of the game comes out in eliminator. You are basically fighting for your life to not be in last place as all of the cars around you are blowing up and crashing in the process of avoiding the dreaded last place. In this mode every 15 or so seconds the person in last place blows up. As you play this mode, you really get the feel for the "Lunatics" atmosphere the developers were trying to get across. The sense of urgency and the rush of adrenaline you get from this single mode really show the game's true colors................and wasted potential. I actually find this mode and the speed events (time trials) more strategic and fun than actually racing. Maybe its too many cars on the track, I dunno.

I've juggled with the possibility that there are far too many cars on the track at once and its TOO MUCH CHAOS. There should be only 7 or 8 cars on a track not 12. The graphics on the vehicle models are OUTSTANDING. FEEL FREE TO ASK ANYTHING ABUT THE GAME THAT WASN'T ADDRESSED IN MY REVIEW. ANYTHING! Thank you for reading my review. PSN: I-Am-theIRONMAN

A lot of people have written about the pros and cons of the PS3 vs. XBOX 360 vs. Wii. I'm not bothering with that, and assume you can find that information at elsewhere. I'm also assuming you can read all about why the PS3 would or would not fit your needs.

Instead, I'd like this review to explain what exactly this configuration is (there's a lot of confusion about that,) and why I think it hits the sweet spot. Basically, there are currently 2 versions of the PS3 on the market now. Ignoring the size of the drive for a second (because you can always swap the drive anyway, and it has no real bearing on the rest of the specs) think of them as Version A (currently available or not as the case may be in the PlayStation 3 80 GB Metal Gear Solid 4 Pack) and Version B (this one.)

The first thing that you need to understand is that there are three relevant differences between these two versions besides the included bundle and the price (the MGS one is $499 from amazon, more from third parties.)

Difference #1: Version A (MGS pack) is backward compatible with PS2 games while this one is NOT (they are both backward compatible with PS1 games however.)

Difference #2: Version A has 4 USB ports as well as memory card slots, while this version has only 2 USB ports and NO memory card slots.

Difference #3: AND THIS FOR ME IS BIG: Version A has the older and larger 90nm Cell processor, while this one has the smaller (and some say more reliable) 65nm Cell processor. Power consumption on this unit is lower as well, dropping from 200 Watts to 135 watts. The end result is a machine that runs cooler and, according to all reports as well as my personal experience, much quieter. An extremely relevant factor if you watch movies with it.

For those that have been looking for a while, this is basically the 40GB machine that was offered recently, with a larger hard drive and an upgraded controller they replaced the basic sixaxis controller with the Dualshock 3 controller (which means it has rumble.)

Now Version A is packaged with Metal Gear Solid. It has an 80GB drive like this one, and the same controller. The big differences are listed above. Until this configuration was released, the larger hard drive and Dualshock controller were 2 of the 4 reasons many people felt the MGS pack was worth the additional $100. Those two factors are now eliminated. The remaining differences are the backward compatibility with PS2 games and the MGS game itself, which can of course be bought separately.

So to sum it up, if you NEED PS2 compatibility, you might want to grab the MGS pack if you can get one that or keep your old PS2. For new buyers though, and for all of the people that are going to just play PS3 games, as well as avid movie watchers, this particular configuration is fantastic. You get the big drive, the good controller, PLUS the cooler running chip, a quieter machine and a system that uses about 33% less power.

And ok just to satisfy the basic requirements of a review, I'll list some other nice stuff: It includes a Blu-ray DVD player (one of those runs almost as much as, or more than, this entire box), the online play is FREE, wireless connectivity is built in (you don't have to buy an additional piece as with some others), reliability has been quite good (much better than some others), there are some great PS3-only titles, and you can stream media to it from your PC. There's more, but there are plenty of people outlining it.

As always, do your research and see what's best for you. Maybe the 360-only titles are must haves for you, or maybe your family fits a Wii. We have a Wii and I love it. But I also love my PS3, and in my opinion this configuration is the one to get (this month anyway.)

Necessary disclosure: I do not own this model. I have what used to be a 60GB model, recently upgraded to 320GB the gold standard.

As compared to the 60GB model:

______________________________________________

+ less expensive (I paid $599 for my 60GB PS3)

+ 33% more storage

+ needs less power

+ dual shock controller (rumble)

no memory card interfaces

2 USB ports vs. 4 USB ports on the 60GB

no PS2 compatibility

______________________________________________

This model comes with an 80GB drive. This is nice because, most would agree, 80GB is more than 60GB. If you feel that the extra 20GB is a big deal, maybe you should think again. I upgraded my 60GB to 320GB because I was about to run out of space, with only 10GB or so left. One month or so later, I'm using more than 80GB already just downloaded the Ratchet and Clank minigame from PSN and it alone needs about 3GB. My advice is to buy this model and upgrade it yourself. It's (relatively) easy and you can find a lot of advice if you Google for it.

If you are on the upgrade path, $80 would buy you a 320GB drive. I used the Western Digital WD3200BEVT 320 GB Scorpio Sata 5400 Rpm 8MB 2.5 inch myself but that was back in June/July and I paid about $150 then; you could get much larger drives for less now. 500GB drives are available for less than $100 and you should try to get one of those if you are planning to store lots of videos. One that I tested would be the 500GB 2.5" Sata Drive which replaced my laptop's 60GB little drive and I helped a friend upgrade his own PS3 with. The nice thing about upgrading your disk is that you are also going to be left with a perfectly good 80GB or $160GB drive which you can place into a cheap enclosure, and the StarTech AT2510U2 InfoSafe 2.5-Inch USB/SATA Hard Drive Enclosure worked for me. I am using the free leftover drive as a backup device for family photos.

Upgrading the disk is (relatively) easy and you can find a lot of advice on the Net. Search for "PlayStation 3 Hard Drive Upgrade (HOWTO)" for videos that should help you decide if you are comfortable with upgrading. If upgrading is the first thing you do (before installing games or uploading personal files), everything becomes very easy because you need not worry about backups or restores. I upgraded my box in a couple of hours WITH the backup/restore steps.

The lack of memory card interfaces is annoying but you can get around it. Copy your stuff to a USB drive or flash drive and... problem solved. You can then upload your things through the USB. It's somewhat inconvenient but it's no big deal.

My old (10 months) 60GB model has 4 USB slots and I am using all of them. One for the PS3 Eye (camera), a second has a wireless keyboard dongle, the third is where the racing wheel plugs in and the last one I use to charge controllers. Can you live with 2 slots? I suppose you can but there's going to be some plugging/unplugging if you begin adding peripherals. I suppose you could get one of those USB ports multiplexers. They're ugly but... it's doable.

PS2 compatibility... can't get it. Sorry. I don't play PS2 games but my kids do. In fact, they just bought some Sonic game a couple of days ago. I was surprised but... de gustibus. They're also playing Kingdom Hearts and Destroy All Humans.

This model comes with a couple of improvements over the gold standard. It burns less electricity, which is a good thing for the rain forests, keeping them cool and maybe you save a few dollars on your electric bill. And, of course you get the advanced controller.

Briefly:

If you are planning to upgrade, the 80GB model is the way to go because it is selling for $100 less than the larger disk version and you can use the savings to pay for your disk upgrade

Get yourself a USB port multiplexer if you need more than 2 ports

Transfer your photos to flash drives to get around the missing memory card interfaces

Or or, even better, to address both the USB and the memory card issues, get the Playstation 3 Media Hub+ for 2 extra USB ports AND a card reader

Keep your PS2 if you have one and still wish to play PS2 games in the future.

Enjoy your new PS3.

I had sat on the sidelines of the next gen video games up until a couple of weeks ago. I had tried Wii almost as soon as it came out and was captivated by the motion sensors but the limited availability and sameness to the games as well as limited graphics was frustrating.

Xbox 360 the $50 a year subscription and more importantly it lost the Blu-ray/HD battle were big no points for me. I enjoy games, my wife does not. She does enjoy movies and the internet. When I pointed out that PS3 was a Blu-ray player (with excellent reviews) and could let us surf the internet, she was all for it.

I have an 'old' HDTV (3 years old). It has a maximum resolution of 1080i and a DVI input but no HDMI. I did some research before buying this so I bought an HDMI to DVI cable at the same time. I was worried about hooking it up and getting it to look right and also getting sound. I should not have been. It took literally a few minutes. Plugged the HDMI end into the PS3 and the DVI end into the HDTV. Received a picture (great picture) right away. It detected that 1080i was the highest resolution and I choose that.

Sound I simply choose the option to put sound out correctly and received gorgeous sound. I only use the speakers that came with the HDTV but it sounds fantastic on Blu-Ray. I can only imagine what people with surround sound systems will get.

The Blu-Ray discs are stunning. Even with 'just' 1080i. Truly beautiful. And it also up-converts very well. My favorite movies are the LOTR expanded editions. I have seen LOTR on TNT HD broadcasts. With the PS3 they look almost as good perhaps even better than the HD broadcasts. Also one of the coolest things and I have no idea if this for all Blu-Rays are just PS3 is that it remembers where you were on discs (Blu-ray and DVD discs)even if the disc was last played 8 discs ago. So say for instance you a third of the way through Fellowship. You then put a few game discs in, some other movie discs, then go back to Fellowship. It actually remembers where you left off that disc. Love it.

The internet browsing has been very cool. At first it was ok but it did not fill up the screen and the lettering was too small. But then I discovered zoom in and zoom out. And now it is really fun to browse. As an aside when I started browsing if someone was on our lap-top we would get a connection conflict and would not be able to surf on the lap-top. I called Linksys and they were able to change a bunch of settings on the router and it works just fine now, no problems on using both at the same time.

As for games I have Assassin's Creed and Oblivion now. Both look amazing. I have also downloaded demos for Mirror's Edge (stunning) and Motorstorm (fun and also amazing graphics). Even as a gamer truly I only really have time for a half dozen games every year or two or even three. A lot of these games last a long time. So in reality the 360s edge on variety is for all intents moot. I am planning to get Little Big Planet and maybe the new Spidey game when it comes down in price. That will more than hold me over to God of War and which ever other few games I will get in 2009. Having a handful of great games, to me, is more important than 50 titles coming out a year.

Bottomline is if you have an HDTV (particularly if you have a home theater set up) and no Blu-ray and enjoy gaming the PS3 is truly awesome. You get a great Blu-ray player, an 80gig hard drive, incredible gaming capabilities (just downloading the demos would be cool), internet browsing and video watching on your TV. You can also download the LIFE utility that has an incredibly cool visual globe where you can get live weather and news headlines around the world. And you can help cure diseases by linking to a Stanford project that looks at how proteins work and fold. If you allow it your processor can be added to the processing power being used for the Stanford project (when you are not gamin and such).

Sony has succeeded in making a truly great heart of your home media experience. This is so much more than Wii it isn't even close. And with Blu-ray and free Sony playstation network, it really is a much better value than any of the 360 choices you have. Right now heading into the 2008 holiday season, PS3 stands alone as clearly the best system and the best value. Not only for gamers but for the entire family.

The Playstation 3 is an incredible Blue Ray Player, that has features NOT available in any other Blue Ray Player. I am not a game player and simply bought this unit as a Blue Ray and DVD player. However on comparison, there are so many benefits compared to other Blue Ray players.

Here are the surprise benefits you get from this INCREDIBLE technology vs. a regular Blue Ray Player:

1. Picture Quality SUPERB (Easily compares to most expensive Blue Ray Players)

2. REGULAR DVD's PLAY IN A HIGHER RESOLUTION Incredible difference to a regular DVD player.

3. Wireless INTERNET Connection Surf web on your TV. (NO WIRES REQUIRED)

4. Automatic BLUE RAY format Updates (FREE and AUTOMATIC) Upgrades as technology changes.

5. HARD Drive (80 GB) Store movies, music, etc.

6. Beautiful Black Console Doesn't look like a game player on shelf.

7. EASY to set-up (Ready in a few minutes)

8. LOWER PRICED All these unique features, at a lower price than the other Blue Ray players

I have no idea why anyone would ever consider a standard BLUE RAY or DVD player once you have had a chance to try out the features of the PS3. Having the internet on our TV allows us full access to news, weather, radio, music video's, etc.

I was told that low price BLUE RAY players cannot play many movies and DVD's because the BLUE RAY format is constantly changing and the Playstation 3 is the ONLY BLUE RAY unit to have automatic updates that will correct for new Blue Ray formats in the future.

NO COMPARISON Hands down BEST BLUE RAY Player with the most features on the market!

HIGEST POSSIBLE RATING.........

Want PlayStation 3 80GB System Discount?

I was debating which game console to get, the Wii, Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3(PS3). As a male with family of two kids, overall the PS3 was the best value for the money. Since PS3 and Xbox 360 are aiming for the same market, I was comparing the PS3 more to the 360:

Pros:

-Most powerful system among 3 consoles.

-Blu Ray player included, also it can be upgraded via the internet. It is full functioning Blu Ray player, not watered down, the picture quality if awesome.

-Solid hardware, Xbox 360 hardware has many problems.

-Includes wireless Wi-Fi, but with Xbox 360 you have to buy it separately.

-Free online gaming, unlike Xbox's which you have to pay each month.

-Internet web browser, which Xbox doesn't have.

-Better menus for navigation than 360.

-Controllers have not only rumble, but also motion sensor like Wii.

-Hard drive is easily upgradable and inexpensive, unlike 360 which is expensive and very hard to upgrade if you want to put your own hard drive.

-Latest movies and TV shows can purchased online, 360's Netflix has more titles but are old titles.

-Playstation Eye(motion sensing camera) accessory allows for motion games like Wii.

Cons:

-Need more latest titles of movies(but same or better than 360 or Apple TV)

-Not all movies can be rented in the first few weeks of release, but have to be purchased.

-Need more variety of games, actually true for all 3 systems.

Overall compared to Wii: Kids will want the Wii no matter what anyone says as long as their friends have it. The quality of Wii games are decreasing, game developers are not integrating the motion functionality well with the games. It feels like developers made the games and then added the motion feature as an afterthought. PS3's included controller has motion sensors like the Wii, also Playstation Eye camera has motion sensoring also. There are PS3 accessories for Guitar Hero and Rock Band which allows physical games on the PS3 like the Wii. So you can do play physical games like the Wii on the PS3.

Overall compared to Xbox 360: Even though Xbox 360 is less expensive initially, if you add everything that PS3 has, the Xbox 360 is much more expensive. People forgot this. 360 has more games than PS3 because it was introduced a year earlier, but starting in 2008 PS3 is coming out with many high quality exclusive games now that introduction period is over(PS3 has Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Socom Confrontation, Resistance 2, Gran Turismo 4, etc). Unless you will play Halo or Gears of War, get the PS3, it is a much better value.

This bundle was a great deal that is fun to use with a multitude of different PS3 Move games. They are very lightweight and seem flimsy; however, they have held up to the rigor of my teenage son and his friends. So, they are certainly serving their purpose! The Move controller fits into each one perfectly, which is great...no need to have to work hard to put the controllers in or take the controllers out! None of the controllers have ever come loose either. I wish the material for this bundle was a bit more durable-feeling, but the lightweight design does make them very easy to uses for kids, women and guys alike!

This really helps keeping my PS3 and Xbox controllers charged up since I can go for a long time not playing one of the systems. However, I can't always keep it plugged in since the LEDs are rather bright in a dark room, making it a bit harder to sleep in the room.

The product itself was great but not what I thought it was when I ordered it. I thought it was a charger just for PS3 remotes but this one was for PS3 and XBox 360. But it was a good invention.

It comes with its' own power cord to plug into any electrical outlet. Which means you don't have to keep the gaming system on to charge controllers anymore. There are two ports for charging Xbox360 controllers + two ports for PS3 controllers. They are not interchangeable or swappable. ie you cannot charge four Xbox360 or four PS3 controllers at the same time. I should have bought one station for Xbox360 controllers and another station for PS3 controllers instead of two of these stations. The product works great and it even refreshed the batteries for the 360 controller that wouldn't hold a charge very long. It took about 24 hours to refresh the battery and charge it. Now it charges the controllers in a very short amount of time. The lights show you when the charge is complete by changing from red to blue. The HDMI cable included makes this an excellent buy.

I got this for my husband for Christmas. It was one of his "he could use now" presents. The stand is awesome lets you know when it is charging by changing from a red to a blue light. Red for not charged, blue for charged. The controllers pop on and off easily. It required no assembly, except to be plugged in. We thoroughly enjoy it and really enjoy not having to wait on charging controllers or switching to battery backup(for the XBOX 360). He loved receiving it and was a great choice. And love that it came with an HDMI cable, never know when you need another one of those.

Gave the HDMI that comes with it to my sister, but the charger is built for quality and it worked perfect for me.. Had two different chargers for Xbox360 and PS3 but this helped not only with one plug but keeps them all nice and easy to find..

When making a custom case like this, some consideration should be made for what will likely be stored in it apart from the main unit. This case is great for holding a PS3, but it's missing a way to really organize the accessories, which cost it a star.

First, the way the PS3 fits in: you lay the case flat and strap in the PS3 to the bottom panel with two elastic/velcro straps. As many have suggested, it's best to put a shop towel or t-shirt between your machine and the straps to prevent scratching.

The base of the unit is attached with velcro, which allows you to plug in the power cord, video/audio cables, and access the master switch. As a result, you can play games while the console is still in the case. While this seems a dodgy proposition, at best, the case is designed with vents in its side panels to allow air flow, and can even be unzipped fully so that the machine is exposed to air on all sides.

So, yeah, there was some great thinking and engineering going into the PS3 aspects of the case.

The rest, however, comes up a little short. There should be several velcro straps or winding pegs in the accessory pocket to allow you to neatly store cords instead of having to either wind or tuck them in carefully, or even have to rubber-band or tie them yourself. There is room for a couple of controllers and maybe a third if you arrange carefully (or two controllers and the BD remote...you could even get a PSP in there), but, again, they're not secured in any way.

The accessory pouch is fastened closed using velcro, and the panel that peels away allows you to access the entire pouch at once, making it easy to load and unload only the items you want.

I don't mind the slide pockets for the games and BDs, it's not my favorite feature about the unit, but I guess I can't see any other way to do it. It also includes multiple pockets for game manuals. The case has three sets of slide-in disc pockets, two of which are on a single panel velcroed to the lid of the case, and the third of which is behind that panel. It allows for about 30 games/BDs, and you can probably fit somewhere between six and ten manuals in the pockets. Again, it's serviceable, but not spectacular.

The nicest thing about the whole case is you really can carry everything you need to fully deploy the PS3 wherever you go...except a HD home theatre system. For me, it's great because I split time between two cities, and it makes it trivially easy to pull the whole kit together and move the unit from one apartment to the other: Takes about five mintues to load, then you just grab it and go. It even comes with a nice shoulder strap to make it easier to carry along with whatever other bags you may have.

I've been watching the price fluctuate on this item for a few weeks, and when it went to $29.99 on Amazon, I bought it. I notice today that it is up to $35. I have no idea how Amazon prices these things.

This is a very sturdy case. The material feels like a tough vinyl. The zipper seems substantial and unlikely to break. The pockets for the games are soft material, and are not likely to scratch Blu-Ray discs (which are also covered with a stronger protective coat than regular DVDs). There is a front pocket which easily holds two controllers and a bunch of cables. There are rings to hook a shoulder strap, but you'll have to buy that separately.

Overall, the case is tough enough to protect your PS3 from scratches (though the straps that hold the PS3 into the case will cause some scratches of their own), and makes the device very easy to carry and connect to different televisions.

I do not believe this case would give very much protection at all if the PS3 was dropped, knocked from a chair, or otherwise sustained any significant impact.

My opinion is that this item is ideal for you if you are seeking a moderately protective but exceptionally convenient case.

It seemed as though they thought of everything, e.g., a place for the controllers, cables, games and their manuals. Unfortunately, after the first time I used it I realized what they hadn't thought of. The placement of the CD holder sleeve on the panel that sits above the PS3 without enough spacing between them led to the surface of the PS3 to get scratched up. Not good! I recommend you place a towel or pad on the PS3 before you close the case to avoid this.

Have taken my PS3 on an overseas deployment and carried it everywhere with me, and it has stood up to everything and everywhere without scuffs on the outside or any sort of damage OR shifting inside. I did take another reviewer's advice and put a clean shop towel on top of the PS3, secured with the velcro straps. Great, compact way to transport everything. Add this to the relatively cheap price and you won't be disappointed.

My one minor qualm with it is that the sleeves to hold games are a little on the loose side unless you fill them up guess I'll have to buy more games.

I purchased this for my son and he likes the fact that you can play the system while it is still inside the bag. Everything fits inside the bag, all controllers, games and cords. All he does is unzips the sides to set up the system. No need to take it out the bag unless he wants to. Great for those on the move.

This has to be the most broken Madden I have ever played. I starting doing drills because I thought it would be fun. So broken beyond belief. The game decides when you succeed and when you fail. It doesn't decide based on how you perform the drill correctly, but it decides when it feels like it. Example, I had to throw a LOB pass and I have played 10+ years of Madden to be pretty familiar with that pass. My receiver caught the ball and went into the end zone...fail. This happened for hours...and hours. It took all I had in me not to throw out the game. I eventually moved on to a regular game. So I caught the ball in the end zone and took 4 steps before going out of bounds...incomplete pass. I intercepted a throw...incomplete pass. I mean error after error with the game. That coupled with the freezing really did it for me. I love Madden and it seems that all they do is recycle traits from years ago and call it "new features". It isn't new...The drill scenario is in Madden 05. I am sick if Madden rushing through games. I want a game that works. Madden, I fought for you with last year's version but you have disappointed me yet again. Before writing this review, I played 12+ hours to make sure I was thorough. I will never buy another Madden again. I expect any game to have its little issues or quirks but come on Madden. I am tired of you recycling ideas, never truly fixing issues, and how you seem to never put real effort into making this game a good experience for its players.

This game is essentially useless. I've played it for two days, and three times already the game has frozen (meaning I've lost my progress in Franchise.) I shouldn't have to save the game every couple weeks or face losing everything I've done so far! Don't waste your money, trust me. Just keep playing last year's version.

DO yourself a favor and save your money. This installment of madden is the worst ever. Unrealistic in every aspect. Where should i start? NO matter whos the quarterback, the accuracy is the same. You can complete a game with a 100% pass completion. Defense doesn't exist, only bad offense exists. Every bad pass is an interception. The Running game is highly unrealistic. you can jump around better than a monkey. Spins after spins after spins. When tackled, you still keep running for at least another 5 yards. You can truck through a series of defenders. You can use stumble stick to balance yourself in any condition.

IN short, dont buy this game. Its another series of rip off

How can EA send out a game that doesn't even work? My game freezes at all random times in all of the modes I try to play...in three days I have only been able to play 2.5 games..I am ready to throw my game out in the trash. Come on EA get a clue and update the game so it is actually playable.

The reason I'm giving it two stars rather than one is simply due to the fact that the gameplay is much smoother than the last few Maddens. That's about the only positive I can think of. Here are some of my gripes: (Edit: After writing this review, I realized the game didn't deserve two stars regardless...)

It is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to stop the read option (online). It's so overpowered that a guy ran it against me AS THE COLTS w/ Luck at QB, and I still couldn't stop it 9 times out of 10, even when I knew it was coming. Did I mention I was using the Bengals, and the Bengals have one of the best defenses in the league?

Also on options... Who remembers the Madden where you could option the ball while being thrown on the ground, and you could throw the ball through the defenders while they were tackling you? Well, IT'S BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Injuries... The current average for season ending injuries per game is just under two (like 1.8). The current average for game ending injuries is right at three.

KICK RETURNS... Had a guy return 4 kicks on me for TD's, and all of these returns were 107+ yards. The last game I played, the guy scored once on a KR, and he got to at least the 40 yard line 6 out of 8 times. This may be the most annoying part of the game.

Running QB's -Someone at EA wanted a return of the '04 Vick, so he made it ALL of them.

Breaking Contain -How often is a RB able to break contain in the NFL? McCoy might do it once or twice a game, and he's one of the best at it. How about being able to break contain pretty much every single time with just about any RB? Well, if that's you're thing, meaning you don't actually like football, you'll love this game!

There are more, but those are the main ones. Overall, this game feels very "arcadish." Most games are very high scoring, the best WR's and TE's are nearly impossible to stop, QB's are deadly accurate regardless of who it is: I had a 157.8 rating with Tannehill one game and a 144.1 rating with Kolb another game. In fact, Tannehill seemed more accurate than Rodgers and Brady...

Anyway, avoid this game at all costs. I had a feeling that I'd regret buying this as I have the last four (six?) years of Madden, and I can finally say goodbye to the Madden series. It's been a long and mostly good run, but you're way past your prime. Maybe you were never any good... Maybe the rising quality of games in general has shown you for what you truly are: ammunition manufactured solely for use at [dung] fights...

Au revoir, Madden. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. (Actually...)
