Premise

*Taking place after the film "Wanted," based on the graphic novel, you play Wesley Gibson and his father as they confront other factions of the Fraternity of assasins.

The Good Things

*The video/sound quality was much better than I expected. It's still not as great as other games out there (like "Kill Zone 2"), but it is still a pleasure to watch.

*Includes some in-game unlockable content.

*Controls are easy to master and intuitive.

*Gameplay is relatively easy and linear. It's nothing terribly challenging, but offers the uniqueness of using slow-motion and bullet-curving powers.

*Level designs are good. Everything has strong textures and details. Some areas look as authentic as they should, and even includes some locales from the movie.

*Finally, you can use the cheat codes that were hidden in the "Wanted" special features of the DVD and Blu-Ray. It's a bit of a marketing ploy, I know, but now my collection feels complete.

*The story is not bad, and seems to jive with both the movie and comic book well.

*Characters are good. You can expect the same bad attitude that the movie had (but not quite as bad as the comic). You also get to see more costumed villians around.

*Music is good (same as the movie).

*Has trophies.

The Bad Things

*No multiplayer.

*Had one or two graphical errors.

*Not for kids; rated M for bloody violence and lots of language.

The Questionable Things

*As said above, the gameplay is easy and linear, almost to the point where it offers very little challenge. I don't mind, but it could be seen as overly simple or unoriginal.

At first, when playing the demo, I thought this was just another typical shooter with some horrid graphics. In truth, though, the game has good graphics and the gameplay is fun enough. Above all, I enjoyed the movie too darn much to pass up the game, and now I'm addicted to it. If you're looking for something groundbreaking, you might be dissapointed. Otherwise, you might enjoy this.

Wanted: Weapons of Fate for PS3 is an awesome game in my opinion. It is fun, action packed, and the way the story changes from present Wesley Gibson to past Cross and back again is really a treat for fans of the movie and comic book alike.

The controls are really easy to get used to, only took me about 30 seconds, especially since there is a tutorial showing you all of the movies in the game. I love the way you can curve bullets, especially while playing Cross with the semi-automatic. Gameplay is very smooth and quick with the exception of when your playing a 'boss'. I will say this; it is difficult to know when your life is low unless you pay attention to the brightness and color scheme of the screen. When the screen goes gray, you are about to die... but if you take cover for a couple of seconds, your life builds again.

Enough praise, now here is my one gripe.. I wish the game had a multiplayer. I know so many people that buy this game will only dream of a massive online multiplayer experience where you get to curve bullets, design your own assasin, and hit the open terrain in crazy bullet flying online action. Even if no online multiplayer at least shoot for an online co-op where a friend can join in on the game sort of in a time crisis kind of way.

Overall, I think this is an awesome game. I have no complaints as of yet. I played it for a couple hours last night and am ready to plop down on the couch for some more bullet bending fun. Pick this game up if you want to be entertained and liked either Stronghold and/or Bourne Conspiracy as a few aspects from those games seep through the cracks of Wanted: Weapons of Fate. You will not be disappointed with this game if you want to have a fun gaming experience.

WARNING: THIS GAME IS IN NO WAY SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN UNDER 16 I'D SAY OR THOSE OFFENDED BY LANGUAGE OR GORE.

Translating Mark Millar and J.G. Jones' Wanted comic to film was one thing, but translating the bullet-laden flick to the video game world seems like a match made in Heaven. Sadly, Wanted: Weapons of Fate is really nothing else but wasted potential. Taking place after the film, you play as Wesley and take down hordes of baddies. The whole curving the bullet technique is here, and is a fun little trick to pull off at first as well. Once you get the hang of it though, as well as the game's controls, Wanted ends up being a pretty boring and easy affair. The fact that the game is so short that you could finish it in an afternoon doesn't help matters any, and neither does the fact that there's no online play either. The game looks decent enough, there's multiple difficulties, and there's some unlockables including alternate costumes and the like, but once you play through Wanted: Weapons of Fate, there really isn't any reason to go back. Were this a budget-priced game, it would definitely be worth checking out, but alas, it isn't, and considering the elements that could have translated so well into the action video game world, the game just ends up coming up so short. All in all, Wanted: Weapons of Fate is worth a rental for fans of the film, but other than that, it's best left on the shelf.

I bought this game for my husband and he is not a big game junky but when he started to play this game he could not put it down he was hooked it took him a total of a week to beat this game on the super easy level and now is working on trying to beat it on the harder levels the graphis are amazing its like your watching the movie. The only bad this I have to say about the game is the laungage that it is the game I will not let my husband play this game when our kids are up thre are just to much cussing and gore for me to let my kids see him play this game. This is deffinatly an adult game

I downloaded the demo for this game last week and I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it that I had to purchase it. It's a know fact that games developed with movie licenses are generally bad so I had no expectations. In fact, I was waiting to be disappointed.

In my opinion, this game reminds me of Gears of Wars one but with tighter and more responsive controls. Graphic wise, the game is just average. The cut scenes seem on par with a high a quality Wii game (Metroid, Zelda...). Though, the game does look much better during game play.

Length wise, the game is short. Took me about four hours but I enjoyed every bit of it. Gears of War one was just over the three hour mark in length (story mode) but not many complained about it. There is not much incentive to make you play through the game a second time right away, But, it's a game that you'll probably return to every six months or so because its fun to play and that's the important thing.

The music score is just average and not very memorable but not bad either. Dialog is well done.

The game can be a bit repetitive but it does not get boring. It's not anymore repetitive than Gears of War. In fact, you get to curve bullets and it never gets old. On top of that, you can slow down time for a short period of time ala Matrix style and it's a blast. The PS3 version of the game uses the Sixaxis motion controls to curve bullets and it works flawlessly. I feel it adds a bit more depth to the gameplay than the 360 version.

I know I compared the game to Gears of War several times but in no way am I a PS3 fanboy. I own all systems including a PC. If anything, I prefer to play PC games since I feel consoles are inferior with the exception of the Wii (I really enjoy motion controls in games such as Metroid). The reason for my comparison is because the game plays very similar via the "duck and cover" gameplay. The difference is, this game offers more options and its more stylish while performing the tactic.

Great kit that saves you money over buying each item separately. However, WARNING the media hub will NOT work with the new slim PS3s. This was disappointing. I was looking forward to having more USBs available. It will only work on the older PS3s. I'm not going to say it's misleading, but it would've been nice to know that it doesn't work with the newer slim models. Other than that the remote, charger, and HDMI cables all work perfectly so far.

This is a good kit but the photos were deceiving in that they show that the USB hub has a card reader.

This is a nice PS3 starting kit -

A good quality HDMI cable -

A charger for 2 controllers

A 3 port USB hub

A remote for controlling bluray however, the remote is not bluetooth and requres you to use an adapter in a USB port.

Overall I think it gives u your money's worth and more.

HDMI cable: Works great, no complains. Plus: it's well designed, I have the feelin that it'll last for the whole life of my ps3. When you compare some of the absurd PS3 HDMI cable prices, this is a bargain.

Charge base: Works as expected. Just about any usb to wall charger could work just as well , but it is a nice addition to the set, and as i said, it does exactly what it is supposed to for up to two controllers.

USB Hub: It doesn't work with PS3 slim, although I knew that already from reading a very useful review. I can't seem to understand why a USB hub would need a special configuration o manufacturing in order to work with different versions of PS3. Nyko just would't go the extra mile to assemble a "universal" PS3 usb hub. It's a shame.

DVD Remote: It works, but it's no bluetooth remote. It has a wide range but an obstacle may get in the way making u move idiotically in search for a right spot to use it. Also, it requires an adapter connected to a usb port, which ironically wouldn't be such an issue if the media hub actually worked.

As I said, the pack is worth it's value (29.99 if u bought alongside the console) for the HDMI cable and the dual Charge Base alone. The DVD Remote is a welcome addition, but the Media hub is pure junk unless u own an older PS3 version, only up to 80 GB.

Want PS3 Power Media Kit Discount?

The HDMI cable works flawlessly on a 1080p monitor. Very durable build.

The remote is not bluetooth, so you need to plug an adapter into one of the USB ports.

A USB hub with three ports is included in the pack, so it's not much of an issue. But I found it interesting that it did not come with the memory card reader as is the case with the individual unit. Snapped right onto my 80gb PS3.

The charge base is my favourite part of the pack. About the size of a stapler, all you have to do is plug a plastic adapter onto the controller's USB port and drop it in either of the slots on the charge base. (The controller's face should be facing the lights.) You can even keep the adapters on while playing. Two indicator lights let you know either of the controller's charge status. Green = fully charged/empty slot. Red = charging. I do feel that the lights are a little cheap-looking, but that's no problem. Oh, and a handy little power button on the opposite end of the charge base. Perfectly sized and easily depressed.

If you just bought a PS3, this is the perfect pack to accompany your purchase.

Months ago, the boyfriend called from Gamestop while returning a couple of Silent Hill games we foolishly bought one weekend. "Google games & tell me the first one that comes up that looks good."

For the next few weeks I sat beside him & watched in awe as he struggled to get through the Asylum Demon (the very first boss, maybe 10 minutes into the game). As time went by the two of us had our weekends consumed, him playing & me watching. I eventually started sitting with my laptop constantly on & at the ready in case he needed help finding items or wanted recommended strategies from the multitude of Wiki material available online. I rememeber at one point I actually started telling him he was doing things wrong, criticizing his play! Me who had never even played the game. I would tell friends about it with great enthusiasm, encouraging them to play too. These conversations grew awkward though, simply due to the fact that I had nothing to back it up. I had still yet to play..

I became so intruiged that I finally decided to give it a shot. Though I was sure I would fail, as games that required manual sight control (ie; Skyrim) historically have defeated me almost instantaneously. I struggled & got insanely frustrated trying to wildly maneuver around both joysticks just so that I could see where in god's name I was going, let alone try to fight something, hah! My journey ended shortly after it began in the Undead Asylum. I owned up my initial defeat to a combination of my struggles with the controls, my complete lack of practice, & not knowing when some scary monster might come around a corner & attack me! My level 2 Pyromancer forever sits at that bonfire.

A while later I got a bit angry with myself for quitting so quickly & mustered up the courage to try again. This game was just too cool to give up before I had even gotten to the first boss fight. I spent hours & hours in the Asylum just running around killing Floppys, (or Hollows, as they're referred to) but I prefer Floppys. I finally realized by accident how to LOCK ON to an enemy! Oh my god! I can actually fight now! Aghh I'm so awesome! Oh god the boss. And I'm dead. Omg plunging attack AGGHH!! And I'm dead again. Ok I'll stop.

Now.

After creating many new characters from scratch I think I've finally settled on one I can be happy with. The directions that you can take your character are endless & require careful planning & strategy early on, otherwise you, like me, may end up having to start over with a new one in order to get on the right track. Visually this game is stunning. It is so captivating & you allow it to draw you in without question. Dying becomes a bit less heart-breaking every time, & the run back to regain what was lost can vary between a slow strategic trek, to an all-out crazy, flailing sprint! This game will get your heart pumping. It will keep you up at night, which is why, fellow students, I recommend purchasing it over the summer. It will make you mad, FURIOUS at times! Furious enough to wake the neighbors. But when you FINALLY defeat that especially difficult boss, or that particularly annoying invader, with your very last shard of humanity, with only a fraction of your health left, I guarantee it will bring you to your feet for an immediate victory dance Tiger Woods style.

Sorry for the somewhat disjointed review. There's just too much to explain in order to create an adequete non-bias review of this product in its entirety, so I tried to create one that depicted the way the game made me feel when I play. Hopefully you feel the same way. It's definitely a ride worth taking! :)

To those considering this game, I would give it 100 stars if I could. Expect a challenge, & buy it. If a noob like myself was able to get the hang of it, anyone can.

Praise the Sun!

Well, these are exaggerations on both counts but... you get the idea.

I do not consider myself a hard core gamer but there were a few grand games that I played hard and long on the PS3: Oblivion, Fallout, Grand Turismo, Demon's Souls. Of these, Demon's Souls was the only Platinum I've ever earned and it clocks at over 500 hours of pure fear, strong anxiety and intense frustration punctuated by brief moments of pride and joy brought by the hard earned sweet victories.

I started talking about Demon's Souls because to us, PS3 gamers, Dark Souls is NOT the first coming of unspeakable terror onto our consoles. Dark Souls is the SECOND coming. And what a visitation this promises to be :)

Okay, here it is, after the first few hours. I am going to post updates (not spoilers) as I progress through the game.

THE COMMONS

Deomon's Souls has many, never-seen-before, amazing innovations. We hoped and we expected to see most of them again on 'chapter two' and Dark Souls does not disappoint even though Dark's seems to be a Universe unrelated to Demon's. It's not even a parallel Universe (I like to think of parallel Universes as those in which the other fellow Dark Souls players exist if running around as a hollowed-out soul you can call 'existence'. It's a different world but a lot works in seemingly familiar ways.

Here's what I would call the Demon's heritage:

One-save only. And this is a BIG thing because the game saves itself every couple of seconds. Once you get hurt or you hurt someone you didn't mean to you can't go back to the previous save because there's no such thing. Unless you have one hand on the power cord ready to pull it, everything you do has consequences and you can't go back and try again. Be VERY careful when you talk to them merchants or blacksmiths because one unintended slap and they will never deal with you again.

Human vs. Soul form. Can't be invaded by other players while in Soul (Hollow) form. As a Human you can invade other words, help others, seek help.

Classes. You pick yours from 10. Not exactly the same as in Demon's though.

Stats. Again, 10 different categories, some differently named, some totally new like 'humanity' and 'attunement'.

The ability to seek help and to help others. I believe that you can have up to 3 others helping.

The Stones. They are of different colors but they have uses not unlike the Demon's stones, possibly more: to seek help, to leave messages, to invade.

Souls as currency of the land and the price price you must pay to level up. And you lose them all every time you die so... use them (buy, uplevel) before you lose them.

Every time you rest all non-boss enemies respawn.

The ability to play nasty and invade other players' worlds.

Blood stains. You can see how others died.

Second (and ONLY second) chance. You can recover lost souls if you can touch your own blood stain before you die again.

Messages. Can leave messages but don't expect to be able to type away detailed clues. You pick your message from a pre-approved list.

Incredibly precise combat. Each class of weapons acts differently and you can see/feel the difference between hitting flesh, bone or armor.

Uchigatanas!!! Need I say more? These are by far the coolest katanas you'll ever swing in any game and probably the best you can get through this one at least through mid-game. Demon Souls most terrifying black phantoms (invading players) where the 2-Uchigatana dudes. Most, possibly all of the Demon's weapons can be found in Dark: Claymores, Halberds, Clubs, Axes, Estocs and so forth.

Practice makes perfect. Like Demon's Souls, this is a struggle for perfection because in most instances only perfect or near-perfect attacks and defenses will save you from yet another horrific death.

Continues the Deomon's tradition of no difficulty levels. Like its predecessor, there's only one difficulty level on Dark and that's 'very easy', as in 'very easy to get yourself killed'. Seriously, for anyone who played Demon's, Dark feels like the second or third playthrough only you start at a low level, have no weapons or armor and find yourself in completely unfamiliar territory now so it takes a little bit of dying, observing and experimenting before your learn the ropes.

THE DELTAS (new and never seen before)

This, I'm sure, is going to be a growing list and I'm going to update it as I progress into the game. If what's going on in this game can be called 'progress'.

One-world design. This appear to be a huge world but gates, bridges and passes are all well guarded so be prepared to shed a lot of blood and die a lot to earn your right of passage. Unlike Demon's which had a hub that was the only connection between the several separate 'worlds', Dark's world regrions are very much interconnected and much of the fun and mystery is your gradually discovering and unlocking sometimes secret doors and passages.

The healing system. The role of 'grasses' is drastically reduced (there are some mosses that you can still use to cure ailments) but Dark doesn't make it as easy when it comes to your ability to recover health. It's no longer near-unlimited.

The Covenants. Each of the 9 will open new play modes and, as always, every action brings about consequences. Joining may appear an easy decision but separation can be painful and costly.

Pyromancy as a THIRD class of magic, joining sorcery and miracles. For anyone who likes fire and explosions... it's awesome.

The Gifts. Interestingly some seem to have no effect while others such as the Magic Key you get if you pick the class of Thief is quite useful.

Danger times 2. It may be just because I'm a little rusty playing Souls or because I know Demon's so well now it's like a walk in the park but Dark appears to be a lot harder. But... we play, we learn. We shall see :)

More color. Can't imagine Demon's with colors but in this world the occasional bright splashes blend well and don't subtract from the feeling of danger.

No Luck. You COULD get lucky in Deomon's Souls but that's no longer the case. That particular stat has disappeared, replaced by your ability to hold 'humanities' which you lose every time you die.

Sweet revenge. One of the covenants mission is to hunt down and kill those nasty dark phantom bullies.

And, of course, Dark Souls does away with all the gentleness and hand-holding occasionally found in Demon's. It really does. Remember that nice Russian lady in the Nexus that you must kill if you want your Platinum? Gone! My first impressions: don't trust anyone because everybody seems to be either evil or insane.

THE STORY

Not quite sure what's expected of me yet and I don't think I should spoil anyone's fun anyway. There is a prologue, of course and, clearly, terrible things happened that caused this not to be a happy world. Need to investigate some more but I'm not sure who's to be trusted, who should be used, who can be a friend.

MY RATING

If Amazon's 5 stars stands for 'I love it', what would be the star count for "I love it, I fear it and, 80 hours into the game I'm obsessed by it"? Well... 5's the limit :). I expect to spend hundreds of hours playing this game and, hopefully, with a little or maybe a lot of help from my friends and a lot of priceless advice from some of the game-focused sites I will name my favorites on a comment to this review.

__________________________________________

July 2012 Update:

Several months and several hundreds hours of gameplay later, I'm still playing Dark Souls.

Sure, I 'beat' the game so many times already but finishing the game the first time is only the beginning. Then you play 'new game plus' (NG+), then NG++, NG+++ and so on where everything gets harder and harder. Can't get the platinum trophy unless you go through the game at least twice.

And there's the PvP (player vs. player) which is where, with your most deadly or your most fun character built to much your skills you can face other players in everything ranging from helping out a fellow player beat a boss or a fair 1v1 fight where players bow to each other in the beginning and pay their respects to the defeated one once the fight is over to no-rules melees where magic and poison knives fly, buffed greatswords or halberds hit hard and you may face up to 3 players plus whatever the game may be throwing at you at the same time. The fun never ends, the variety is almost endless and it's addictive.

There's a new version of this game. As far as I can tell it's only available on PSN and there have been no updates to this original (ps3) version. (It's probably available on Xbox as well, but I don't have one so I can't say.) The "ON FIRE EDITION" is on PSN for $14.99 and it's superior in every way. Just updated and fixed across the board. Check it out. There's also a free demo. Hopefully Amazon starts carrying PSN merch again, until then you have to use the PSN store.

I got this game on 11/16/10 and played it enough to evaluate the gameplay and campaign mode. **EDIT** Also played online solo mode (with 3 other onle players).

In short it is a clone of the original arcade hit, with some notable additions.

The campaign mode is basically a 2 on 2 basketball game, with actual NBA players (the best players on each team are available no bench players). This is Arcade basketball at its best no fouls, no timeouts, no out of bounds and NO REFS. There is a 24 second shot clock, and you can get called for goal-tending once in a while.

The controls are simple:

ON OFFENSE, you can perform some rediculous dunks, and if you are skilled enough, you can get some jumpshots in. You can pass, upfake, throw elbows, do crossovers and jump for an alley-oop (the last 2 are additions to the original). You only contol 1 player, but you can call for a pass as well as make your team-mate shoot/dunk. You can also throw elbows and knock a defender to the floor if he is too close.

ON DEFENSE: You can steal the ball (this requires some timing), shove any opposing player to the floor (if you miss the shove, your opponent can blow right by you) and rebound. You can also intercept a pass if you are in the right position. BUT THE BEST PART ABOUT DEFENSE is BLOCKING SHOTS. You have to be in the right position and time it right but the absolute joy of stuffing the opponent's shot is unlike any other feeling in a game (in my opinion). You can even block a dunk if you are get there at the top of the opponent's jump.

On both offense and defense, you can shove an opponent to the floor (on offense only if you are not the ballhandler).

EA also kept the play by play announcer from the original Tim Kitzrow. All of the original humorous calls are here with tons of new "Jamonics" added. You will find yourself cracking up in the middle of gameplay when you hear some of these.

You can unlock past players with specific achievements this is another great feature of this game Magic, Larry (Bird and Johnson), Schrempf, Dominique, Rodman, McHale and much more. You can also play as Politicians, the Beastie Boys and other non NBA teams.

The original arcade game did not look as good as this (it was not in HD). The vibrant colors and the clarity of the players faces in this HD version really stand out. The Big Head Mode is unlocked by finishing the tutorial.

You can team up locally against the cpu (or vs a friend), ** Edit or 2 vs 2 locally ** or you can play solo online, or as a team.

There are other modes as well as robust online features (available as a day one patch).

**Edit** I've played a few games online (2 vs 2)there is no lag in the gameplay just pure excitement.**

The games are only 3 minutes per quarter which I thought was too short before I started playing. But with the clock stopping after every shot (and at goal-tending and shot clock violation) the actual time for a complete is closer to 15 minutes, which turned out to be perfect. I never got the feeling that the game was too short once a game is completed.

I haven't been a fan of EA Sports lately BUT they got this one right. Originally slated as a stripped doen free downloadable they added all of the content as the Wii version, plus the vast online features and sell it for the same price.

If you were skeptical about buying this game Don't be.

If you ever dropped quarters in the original Arcade game I highly recommend this.

If you have'nt played the Arcade version, and only played previous console versions, you won't get a true sense of this version. This is WAY better than any older home version!!!

If you have't played any version and wan't a purely fun game for you and friends then get this. Especially if you are a fan of the NBA present and 15-20 years ago.

The original Arcade game was an Internationl Superhit this version is even better.

Buy NBA Jam Now

NBA Jam is an arcade basketball game that was first released in the arcades and Super Nintendo/Sega Genesis game systems back in the 1990s which I imensly enjoyed so natrually when I heard that it was going to be remade for the Playstation 3, I was very happy and decided I had to buy it. I brought NBA Jam for PS3 and am happy to say that It plays quite similarly to the version that was released for SNES/Genesis. The game is very easy to pick up and play and it does not have a steep learning curve. The goal of the game is to defeat all 30 NBA teams with a team of your choosing. There are really no rules execpt for goaltending and the 24 second shot clock so you may steal the ball from your opponents by any means nesessary including shoving them granted you have enough turbo to perform a shove. This new NBA Jam has some new game modes in addition to the classic campaign mode such as backboard smash in which the first team to break the glass via dunks wins the game as well as 21 in which the first player to get a score of 21 wins. NBA Jam for PS3 supports earning trophies for in game accomplishments such as beating all 30 teams defeating a game mode called remix tour which is a variation of the classic campaign mode in which you play different types of basketball games each with their own rules and requirements which to me adds value to the game. If you like arcade basketball games and easy to earn trophy games, then this game is definitely for you.

As of this review, I don't think it's worth thirty-dollars. I'd say more like twenty if that especially since EA Sports just announced they're not going to update rosters...EVER!

Im 25 years old and sometimes i like to buy games like this because i dont really have to think and they are pretty fun to play. sometimes i just want an easy game that is pretty simple. If you have kids i would definently get this game. the controls are perfect for little kids. you only use sqare to fire, circle to interact with things, and x to jump. the combat is easy but fun. id say if your kid is atleast 3 he could play this game, sometimes you have to pick stuff up and place it in certain spots so you kid might need some help with that but if your kids playing im sure you wont mind watching him play. i just wanted to let people know that this is a fun game and kids will love this game. just like i said i play kids game sometimes and on some of them im like how would you expect a 4 or 5 year old to beable to do this. this is a great game for any one at any age. It is co-op to so you and your kid can play together. as you beat stages you unlock mini games i havent tried them out yet because i just beat the game. the game is not long maybe 3 hours for me but im also 25 and its sopposed to be a kids game so they will take longer and im sure they will want to do the mini games and replay some levels. I hope this review helps and if you have any questions just leave them in the comments and i will try to get back to you.

I admit it. I wanted an easy Platinum. I had just gotten my PS3, and wanted to boost my stats so I'd have a better chance of getting into some on-line gaming. I got this game because it was cheap, and it was listed as being one of, if not THE easiest game to get that first Platinum with.

Maybe it's just because I enjoyed the movie, but I loved the game. I got the Platinum in very little time, then kept the game. Normally, I would have traded it in, but it was so much fun, I kept it for side-to-side, co-op play at home. As far as a fast, kill-an-afternoon game goes, this one is surprisingly fun. It ALMOST makes me wish I had a child of my own to play with. It's one of those rare, fun for all ages games.

My old "fatboy" 5 year old PS3 fianlly bit the dust this weekend (R.I.P.)

The dreaded YLOD had finally caught up to my old friend.

(to everyone with an older system -i advise you to back up your DLC's and games) as i lost everything...

After doing research on YLOD and contacting Sony for a repair price..i decided it was best to just get a new system.

I love Amazon, but i actually got ours at Wal-Mart for 289.00 plus tax.

We will have to start all over, but hey there are worse things in life to have to endure.

Blu-Ray is working awesome and you get a move camera, controller, steering wheel and a dual shock controller.

I wasn't really into Little Big Planet, but my Son loves it and this game is pretty darn cool.

Of all the bundle's i've seen (for family at least) this is the one to get.

Don't but single base units anymore, they are not a good bargain for the money.

Have fun fellow gamers!!

This product is terrible. It actually worked pretty well for about 5 minutes. The rubber tips on the ends of drumsticks almost immediately flew off so any noise dampening effects were now nill.

So I put the rubber tips back on and super glued them in place. About 5 minutes after the next use a drumstick literally broke in half. The fitting that screws the two halves of the drumstick together wasn't glued to the bottom half of the drum stick very well.

Since it was only 10 dollars it wasn't worth my hassle to return so I just threw them in the garbage. Not worth the hassle. Just buy the silencing pads or go to guitar center or something and pick up some real plastic/rubber sticks that don't unscrew in the middle.

Just about every single aspect of this product was truly awful. Firstly, within 3 minutes of getting them out of the box, the rubber tips had flown off, thus starting a 30 minute game of "Find the small objects in a 20 foot room".

One glob of glue later inside the tips and they held for a little longer, although, within two hours of regular use, the rubber on one of them had split, rendering the pair useless.

Added to this is that the sticks themselves are ridiculously heavy, considering they are built to hit plastic drums, and for some bizarre reason, they are split into two parts with a screw thread in the middle. Something which led to them becoming loose during play.

Worth it only if you want to spend £10 on something to throw at your cat.

I only recently bought the Rockband 2 music system, and the stock wooden sticks that come with it feel terrible, they are supposedly Ludwig 5B's but they don't even feel like 5A's. The wooden sticks don't seem to respond properly with the Rockband 2 drum heads like they might with a real drum set. Hence my purchase of the MadCatz composite drum sticks.

Don't be fooled, these are hefty weight, however the rubber/silicon tip covers provides a really nice bounce off of the drum heads, if you like lighter drum sticks you will likely hate this product, but if you like hefty 2B drumsticks you might like these for practicing, I know I do.

The problem with them is one thing, the rubber tip heads come flying off while you are playing, you don't even need to see them fly off you will notice immediately that something is not right. The simple solution to that is to use instacure modeling glue, just a drop will do, this stuff drys in 1 to 3 seconds so don't put it in the tip and squeeze the tip together else it's done for. Instead simply put a drop or two into the rubber tip, and then quickly put the tip back on the drum stick and let it dry for an hour or so (yes it's done in 1 to 3 seconds, however it might come flying off again if you don't wait the hour). Now the tip will no longer come flying off.

The other trick that we use is where the sticks unscrew to break them down into two pieces is we put an Oring, large enough that it leaves a ridge around the stick on the "male" threaded part of the stick, then screw the sticks back together. You might wonder what this does, well for us it prevents stick slip, the oring helps to prevent the stick from sliding through our hand. Yean I know that's one of the purposes of the rubberized mini grip that comes with the sticks where you screw them together, however that doesn't do it for us, that to us is simply a way of knowing if the stick has slipped or not by whether or not we can feel that piece.

So, with the newly glued rubber tip caps, and an Oring, these are great sticks for people that don't have to have wood, and who want hefty weighted drum sticks and in my opinion they work perfect with the Rockband 2 game, however NOT to be used on a real drum set EVER!

I had my PS3 for three years and mostly used it to watch movies. After getting my hands on IronMan 2 in blu-ray I tried to play the movie only to find out my PS3 wouldn't read the disc. After multiple attempts, including other movies and games, my PS3s' disc reading abilities was dead. After lots of research I found out that a number of units' lasers go bad and Sony wanted $200 to fix it when it's out of warranty. Luckily I found that it could be easily replaced, which lead me to finding this product. Not only was it cheap, but it arrived very fast and was truly easy to install. After putting everything together, my PS3 could now read discs again. I would recommend this to anyone who had the same issues I had with my PS3. Boo Sony for not acknowledging this issue and offering a fix similar to what Microsoft did with the red ring of death.

I am typing up this review a mere day after replacing my dysfunctional stock PS3 bluray lens (on an older 60GB PS3) with this product. Bearing that in mind, this review only reflects my initial thoughts and may be subject to change pending the ongoing performance of the product; I've been hearing that some of these replacement kits (not necessarily this model) tend to go bad very early in their life.

Installation was quite easy if you are patient and do not rush. I initially made the mistake of disassembling the bluray drive to find that I left a disc inside the drive. Do NOT disassemble the drive with a disc inside of it. Some of the mechanisms, specifically those repsonsible for insertion and ejection of the disc, are in a state of tension with a disc present and will not go back together easily. Youtube is a good source for DIY videos regarding lens replacement.

The only comment I can make regarding product performance is that it is working normally, and that is all I asked for. If it holds up, then I'll stand by my initial assessment that this is an excellent, cost-effective alternative to other fixes available at the moment. For roughly $30, it's at least worth a try before exploring other options.

::Warning:: Don't make the mistake of leaving a disc inside your PS3 before taking it apart!!! If I hadn't done that, installation would have gone a lot smoother. But since I did, I had to take a few extra steps and do an emergency eject. It wasn't hard to do though...

Installed this about a month or two ago. It was easy, and I haven't had any problems since. I'll update this review if the laser goes bad.

This need for speed is not like the previous most wanted. No visual car customization, no buying cars, and especially, no story line whatsoever. And no hood view for the cars. I dont know if this is just me or any one else but i hate bumper and 3rd person view and thats all there is. I loved the hood view from the previous most wanted. Is it that hard to put it into a game?

The premise behind NFS: Most Wanted is this: In Fairhaven City, there are 10 drivers who are the "Most Wanted". Take them down, you get their car. The goal: Become the most wanted driver in Fairhaven City.

Ok, so the story's lame, but you didn't have one at all in Burnout Paradise either. That's not really important to racing fans, as one look at NFS: The Run's reviews will tell you. What DOES matter are the cars, how do they control, modes available, upgrading possibilities, and multiplayer. Again, this is a review in process, so I can address all of these outside of multiplayer at this time.

It's really hard to pin down the driving controls in this game at this early stage. We're not talking Gran Turismo level of difficulty, but it's also not as easy as the original Burnout Paradise, or even Blur. Think the controls in Ridge Racer Unbounded, but MUCH less touchy, and you're getting in the right ballpark. My best guess: If you're familiar and have played the NFS series, you'll be at home here.

As for the cars, no more going through ranks 1-20 to unlock. Every car in the game is available at the start. Now the danger of this, of course, is that you'll find one you fall in love with and really have no need/desire to find all the rest (Why would you bother with the Delta Lancia when you can drive/upgrade a Porsche, for example)? All you have to do is look for the cars with an badge above them, choose the car and it's yours to drive. It's definitely a step in the right direction away from what a "typical" racing game would force you to do (aKa Gran Turismo, forcing you to grind for money to buy them).

As far as single player is concerned, I am a little worried that the modes are a little on the bare side. The various events in Burnout Paradise were diversified and had cars to match them. In NFS: Most Wanted, it's pretty much limited to races, evading the cops and maintaining a certain speed through the course. In short, it's got the potential to get old in a hurry. However, you'll probably be too busy seeing if you're beating your friends, smashing billboards and the like to be worrying about that.

Each car gives you the ability to upgrade various functions, such as tires, transmission, boost, etc. This is done by earning Speed Points, which you pretty much earn doing anything in the game. Now of course, for the completionists (like me), it will be fun going through and upgrading every car fully, giving an vast array of options for attacking different races (example: lightweight chassis give you more speed and are better for fast races, but suck when trying to go against the cops. Off road tires help you on those races, but you lose grip on pavement, etc). It'll be fun seeing online who gets the perfect combinations to set the best times.

And for now, that's it. As I get experience in Multiplayer, I will update my review, but it definitely seems to be at least as good as Burnout Paradise's, which is a testimony as to why there is still a good online community existing in that game 3 years after release.

Bottom line: NFS:MW takes it place alongside the other racers on the PS3 (GT5, Burnout Paradise and NFS:HP) as the best you can buy. There is an incredible amount of depth and layers in this game to unwrap and discover. Criterion, you did it again!

**UPDATE #1 31 October 2012**

Multiplayer is definitely as diverse as in Burnout Paradise if not moreso, given that many of the cars (including the ones you receive from pre-ordering) are only able to be used in Multiplayer. Players who invest the time in the various races/race layouts with the proper cars/mods will have a definitive, FAIR advantage over those who do not, but given the chaos that is traffic in this game, there's a chance a person ending up in last can still make up ground for a good finish. Outside of the racing events, there are also ones that involve getting away from the cops (wreck your friend=them getting busted and disowning you) as well as who can drift the most, get the most air, break the most billboards, etc. in a certain time frame. While the single player, for those who dump a ton of time into it and find their favorite cars, probably has a short life span, when you start talking about multiplayer, and get a few friends who have this game, and the replay value goes through the roof as you try to "top" your friends to be the "Most Wanted".

If anything, multiplayer has reinforced my opinion that this quite simply is one of the best racers on the PS3, the best one released in 2012, and deserves your purchase.

***Update #2 10/31/2012

I'm seeing some questions about how this compares to NFS:Hot Pursuit. Keep in mind, Criterion's goal was to make this game a "spiritial" successor to Burnout Paradise (released in 2009). In terms of gameplay, NFS:HP and NFS:MW are different in terms of modes as well as scope (open world, explore at your leisure vs. rigid routes), but similiar in that you can wreck the cops when you are being pursued. The cops will use spike strips and roadblocks, no EMP or helicopters that I've seen. Your cars do have "mods" which can offset the roadblocks and spike strips (much like you had in HP for the racer). Online is much deeper IMHO vs. Hot Pursuit, even when you consider the DLC that EA/Criterion have released over the life of NFS:HP.

My verdict is NFS:MW will ultimately be much deeper and have more replay value then NFS:HP. But both are OUTSTANDING games in their own aspects.

Also, in another simularity to NFS:HP, NFS:MW will allow you to utilize your own soundtrack that you have on your PS3. I think you'll definitely want this as there's nothing memorable about the soundtrack I've heard so far from the game, and some of them are downright annoying. Why ALL racing games don't have this as an option I have no idea. It definitely enhances the enjoyment of the title!

This game is really fun if you like CONSTANT crash cutscenes. Every time you bump a car, guard rail, or pole, you will have to watch a 10 second scene of your car crashing. Often times, you will come out of one of the crash scenes to find that the game has placed you directly behind another vehicle which causes you to crash yet again. This is the most annoying thing about the game and really characterizes the game for me.

For fans of the original Most Wanted, this game is disappointing. The game has a similar premise, but they have removed the storyline, customization, manual transmission, exciting pursuits, and the ability to plow through roadblocks. The graphics of the game are incredible, but the gameplay is lacking. The cars do not handle well at all. Unlike the original, hitting roadblocks now causes, you guessed it, a crash scene that stops your car in its tracks. Lastly, the game is very easy. I was the #1 Most Wanted racer before I had taken down Most Wanted #6-10. I got enough points to be first simply by tricking out a few cars; speaking of which, all of the cars are available from the start and races unlock performance upgrades. The Most Wanted races are very easy; in fact, they are easier than the races required to unlock car upgrades.

Multiplayer is no fun whatsoever; I give multiplayer a 1 out of 5 rating. You are placed in the open world with other racers. The game will randomly select events and races for you. Some of the events it chooses make little sense and are very repetitive.

Overall, this game is fun, but it is also VERY frustrating. I would recommend this game to people, but I want them to know that this game is not the original. The graphics are really the only improvement to the original; the other changes made to the game are a major downgrade.

SUMMARY:

Pros:

Beautiful graphics

Large, open world

Large selection of cars

Cons:

Lack of customization

Crash scenes

Repetitive races (many of the races for each car are exactly the same)

Lackluster pursuits

No penalty for being busted by the cops

Easy and short

This year we only purchased 2 new video games and both were for the PS3. This Need for Speed: Most Wanted was a winner! My 2 sons with 6 yrs between them, ages 9 and 15 yrs. old---both thought it was challenging and good! My 9 year old loves cars, racing and all that goes with that and he would randomly shout out of the gaming room "this is awesome! thank you Mom!!!!"

So, I am not a gamer at all, but I am a choosy mom and I think this was a hit with all of them--including my husband! I landed the cool mom for this one, so I am happy!
