After having used a Harmony 676 to control all my devices, I was not happy when I needed to use the PS3 controller to control Blu Ray movie watching.

This remote's dongle does the job in letting my Harmony 676 control the PS3. There was one problem that almost led me to return the remote however, and I wanted to mention the solution here.

Problem (for Harmony remotes):

On the PS3 XMB (Cross Media Bar), the directional buttons would move the selection several spots for each key press. I read several posts and tried teaching & re-teaching the Harmony. I tried teaching using the "Raw" IR learning but that would slow down the response from the PS3 to each key press.

Solution:

Within the Harmony program, go to Devices->PS3 and select "troubleshoot" under device options.

Select "Show me more problems" (last choice).

Then select the choice "PS3 doesn't appear to receive every command correctly," and the select "The device responds too much to some commands (for example, volume up increases the volume too quickly)."

In the screen with the radio buttons, select '0'.

Save & update the remote and everything the directional buttons will work perfectly.

The Playstation 3 uses RF (bluetooth) for its wireless remotes. This is great for a game remote, but less convenient for a BluRay player remote, since it makes it incompatible with universal remotes, which communicate using infrared (IR). Sony sells a DVD-style remote, but it also works by RF. Unlike the XBox 360, which uses RF for its controllers but includes an IR port for DVD player style remotes, the PS3 has no IR sensor at all.

However, there is a workaround, because the PS3 also supports wired controllers via its USB ports (which is also how you recharge the controllers). Nyko has cleverly taken advantage of this by producing an IR remote that emulates the USB wired controller. You simply plug a USB dongle with an IR sensor into one of the USB ports, and then you can use the Nyko IR remote--or a Harmony remote, if you teach it the commands from the Nyko.

This works quite well. There are some inherent limitations, however. In particular, this approach means that the Nyko remote is only able to support the commands that you can execute with the PS3 controller, and does not provide some of the additional commands available on the PS3 bluetooth remote. So no power key, angle key, or eject key. But it does emulate all of the digital controls of the PS3 controller (i.e. everything but the analog sticks), which makes it fine for controlling the player. I don't mind the lack of a power control as I leave my PS3 on all the time anyway, since it isn't noisy like the XBox 360, and I have set it to donate unused computing power to the Folding@home scientific project. And if I'm going to eject a disk, I have to walk over to get it anyway, so I might as well push the button on the PS3.

I had good success teaching the Nyko's IR commands to a Harmony universal remote. This mostly went well, although the square command seems to be difficult to learn properly, and took a couple of dozen takes to get it right.

Buy BluWave Infrared Remote Now

If you are simply buying a remote for your PS3 to play Bluray disk do not buy this remote. Buy the authentic bluetooth remote that Sony makes and it's control is superior and flawless. This remote's advantage is you can use the USB dongle included to make your PS3 accept commands from a universal remote control such as Harmony.

So if you want a remote to control your Bluray watching, but you insist on using your universal remote for everything this is the ticket. (one remote to control everything) Just attach the USB dongle to your PS3, and then learn the commands from the Blu Wave remote to your Harmony or other universal remote and you're good to go.

Edit 09/04/2008: While I did love how the Blu Wave remote allowed me to use my universal remote it is not without its problems and limitations. It cannot turn on/off the PS3, and often it sends commands twice when browsing through the menus which can be very frustrating. I've now upgraded to the PS3IR-PRO which is a little black box that takes the IR commands from your remote and resends them out via Bluetooth exactly like the official Sony remote commands. This makes usage flawless and you also get all 51 buttons on the official Sony Bluetooth remote, I love it. It also allows you to turn on and off the PS3 with one button that can be programmed into your universal remote. It does cost approximately $100, but its a far superior product. Ultimately your choice depends on your specific needs.

I recently purchased this product to allow me to control my PS3 for DVD playback using my Harmony remote (model 880). Many others have also purchased the Blu-Wave for the same purpose, but it appears as most have programmed their Harmony by having it "learn" the Blu-Wave's remote codes. I found a much easier way to get the Harmony remotes programmed.

Just add a new device "Game Console (with DVD)". Select the Manufacture of Nyko and enter "Blu-Wave" as the Model (they actually give you an example of what to enter for Model and that is the model they use for their example). Complete adding the device, with no other changes. Then update or create the "Watch a DVD" activity and specify the new device as your DVD player. I found that I had to tweak some of the button settings, but most of button were set correctly.

As others have stated, I wish Nyko had provided some of the other buttons that appear on the Sony remote (Eject, Angles, ...) and at least a way to turn off the PS3 (like the PS button).

Thanks to the following tips from other Reviewers, it works like a champ. Like many others, I am using it with a Harmony 880 and I don't care if I can't turn the power on or off. You have to get up to get the disc anyway so who cares. But the command where I ask one of my kids to please get the disk and put it away seems to not work very well:)

To Eject a disk;

Press 'Stop' to stop the movie and get back to the main menu. I think you need to press the 'O' button and then 'yes' after stopping the movie. You should be at the location where the DVD icon is highlighted. Press the triangle button and an eject disk command will appear to the right of the screen. Select this and it will eject. So you could probably get it to work by programming a macro button. But this is not a big deal to me since I want to get the disk and just press the button on the PS3.

Very Helpful Tip #1 from a previous reviewer:

Just add a new device "Game Console (with DVD)". Select the Manufacture of Nyko and enter "Blu-Wave" as the Model (they actually give you an example of what to enter for Model and that is the model they use for their example). Complete adding the device, with no other changes. Then update or create the "Watch a DVD" activity and specify the new device as your DVD player. I found that I had to tweak some of the button settings, but most of button were set correctly.

I gave this to my nephew as an early Christmas present and he loves it. The color is really nice, it has almost an iridescent sheen, but its opaque. Better than in the pictures. I mainly picked it out for the color, blue is his favorite, so I didn't really care what the game was. He tried Invizimals a few times, but was more interested in some other games he received. He is only 9, but almost seemed a little too mature for the game, but maybe that is just his taste. The camera is a great edition to this pack, he really enjoyed taking pictures and making short videos. He takes his PSP almost everywhere, and receives tons of compliments on it. I would highly recommend it, its a great value, the camera is really fun, and the limited edition color really makes it stand out. One downside is that the game and umd movie come in a soft case only, he had some travel umd cases, so it wasn't that much of an issue, but still not as nice as the real boxes.

This was a super hit for christmas! My daughter loves it. As for me, the parent.. It shipped quickly, it is an awesome color blue and works perfectly so far. The price is a bit much, but worth it seing that it comes with a movie, game and camera. Meatballs was a strange choice for the package but you can always trade it in toward something else.

Can I start off by saying, I LOVE THIS SYSTEM AND THE GAME. This brings back memories as a kid because years ago I would play games forever and I'm a FINAL FANTASY FANATIC but back to why you should get this. Originally this color along with the other CARNIVAL COLORS is sold in JAPAN,EUROPE,ASIA AND THE UK but not in America (PERIOD!!) unless you purchase it from the internet but there is one sold in stores that comes with one of the METAL GEAR SOLID GAMES and its the SPIRIT GREEN PSP,otherwise you will be getting the standard black, white or silver bundles. The system is region 1 locked, meaning you cannot and I repeat CANNOT watch UMD MOVIES from other countries but the games aren't for instance only movies in the USA are able to watch but you can purchase games and play them from anywhere because there isnt a restriction on them but this goes for any psp model you buy in America unless you downgrade your firmware but I WOULDNT RECOMMEND IT because you will void the warranty. So do not FRET as long as you just enjoy what you have instead of trying to manipulate this system in anyway. This VIBRANT BLUE BUNDLE PACK is a steal with the INVIZIMALS UMD, which is a lot of fun. Groups of all ages would enjoy this game. I haven't watched CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS because of playing the game so much but one thing I did hate about it was with the 1GB MEMORY STICK that comes with it but you can always buy one with more memory and a suggestion would be to get a MEMORY STICK PRO DUO with MARK 2 or better for faster file transfers! ALL IN ALL!!, GREAT BUY!!, GREAT SYSTEM AND DEFINITELY WILL PUT THE SMILES ON FACES CHRISTMAS MORNING BECAUSE I'M STILL SMILING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool, cool, cool. If you want a PSP you'll love it. If you like pokemon, you'll like it. If you think it's stupid, you're wrong. i have this and got Little Big Planet for it. I use it everyday. And when you get bored, there's over 50 demos to download (sorry wi-fi only) and almost every game can use wifi which unlocks awesome powers (figure of speech). Trust me. Like i said about beyblades, awesomness in a box.

There aren't a lot of books depicting Vader in his put down the rebellion stage as the dark lord being first on the field to lead the storm troopers into battle. The ominous figure is cast as either a liberator or destroyer, dependent on how you view the political regime of the empire. This decal can be placed on very easily, what I did differently than how the instructions described was a sponge with soap water squezzed almost dry and lightly slid across the sticky side of the decal to make it less sticky before applying to my PS3. Very easy and it looked great. Highly recommend to purchase, if you like cool Star Wars drawings or just like an epic battle scene which can let your imagination run wild. Like buying a mega lottery ticket, only it serves a practical purpose of protecting your expensive PS3 that kids touch when they come by.

I am one of Insomniac's biggest fans (I even carved Ratchet and Clank jack o'lanterns for them a few years back), and RC is my favorite franchise of all time. Yet, I cannot rubber stamp any game with a lombax in it... and unfortunately, "Full Frontal Assault" (FFA) is a bit of a disappointment for this lifelong fan (although still enjoyable).

This game is fun, don't get me wrong. If you're an RC fan, it's well worth picking it up and checking it out. It's only $20, and the fact that you can play it on two consoles (PS3 AND Vita) makes it an incredible value. Qwark is here for his usual comic relief (and as a playable character!), and you just might love the different style of play, with its emphasis on turrets, mines, and resource management. If you're a tower defense fan, you should definitely check it out, as FFA provides a unique (and rather frantic) twist on the genre. But I do have some qualms with the title, which are as follows...

Admittedly, I can't be too harsh on FFA, since it was marketed as a tower defense game, and it only costs $20. Yet, this does not quite feel like an RC game... it's fun at times, but there is something off about it, and the running back and forth between my base to defend it creates a sense of anxiety that is completely at odds with the sense of wonderment and carefree exploration that RC games generally instill within me. Other things have been subtly altered as well, such as minor control button changes, and a slightly "fuzzy" graphical approach that does not look as sharp as the "Future" series (perhaps compromise was utilized to make it run on the Vita?). The story is minimal, and does not live up to the high standards established by previous RC entries.

Therefore, many RC fans, like me, will feel somewhat disappointed with FFA. As for gamers who are new to the series, I'm afraid that they might get the impression that FFA is what the RC series is typically like, and this is not accurate.

It's been three full years since RC fans have received the next installment in Ratchet and Clank's adventures ("A Crack in Time" was 2009). At best, we might get one next year, which would mean a minimum of four full years between titles. I'm not counting "All 4 One", because it was not a traditional RC game. Perhaps I was spoiled by the days of the PS2, when we were treated to a new, full fledged RC adventure every fall.

I truly hope that Insomniac gets back into supporting the RC adventures, and can give us new installments on a regular basis. I hope the lombax and robot don't go the way of other mascots, and simply release one spin off after the next. Insomniac has one of the greatest platforming formulas in the history of gaming, yet they seem to be reluctant to utilize it as of late, as they dabble in other projects. I can only hope they're working on something truly spectacular for next year... perhaps even a new RC adventure for the PS4... "IN-SOM-NI-AC we trust!"

I won't lie, my initial reaction to first playing this game was disappointment. First thing that I would like to state is this:

THE FREE DOWNLOADABLE COPY FOR PLAYSTATION VITA WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL JANUARY 2013.

With that being said, my only other complaint is that they chose to stick with the new art and character design from All4one. I really liked the design of the older games so this was a little disappointing. However, once I started playing I was more than pleased. The levels are pretty large and the game gives you a lot of room to run around, pick up upgrades and strengthen your defenses, all awhile fighting hordes of enemies. It is a tower defense game that is unlike most, because you are frantically searching for money and upgrades between waves. Not only that, but you have to launch attacks on the enemy base while crossing your fingers and hoping that your own base is not being demolished. The game is very chaotic and fun. This type of game has much more of a replay value than Quest for Booty, which was just an extra two levels and offered nothing new or relevant to the plot of the Ratchet and Clank Future series.

Overall this game has everything that a downloadable $20 PSN game should have. Its quick, frantic action based fun with the old school ratchet and clank feel to it (despite the new All4one design). The fact that you also get the Vita version of the game seals the deal. If the vita version of the game looks and feels anything like the PS3 version, I imagine it will be the best game yet for the Playstation Vita.

Buy Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault Now

I've played every R&C game and bought Full Frontal Assault on the first day that it came out.

The game is different from other R&C games but very interesting. You still collect bolts but use them to buy up defense turrets and mines to protect your base rather than to buy up weapons. You still get weapons that upgrade based on the number of enemies you've killed with them. You face an open world with "weapons drop boxes" and gold bolts scattered throughout the world. Every time you collect one of the weapons drop boxes, then you get a new weapon and the next wave of enemies is unleashed on your base. So you can control the pace of the onslaught if you want to explore and build up defenses by not collecting the weapons boxes.

The game is short. The time frame for earning the first time-bonus medal for planet 1 (Markazia) is 21 minutes. I spent 60 minutes smashing every tree/box/enemy in the place... Another medal offered for completing the level in under 13:30 minutes. Another medal offered for completing the level in under 10 minutes. To collect all time-bonus medals takes less than 73.5 minutes of game play: 10 minutes on Markazia, 15 minutes on Ebaro, 23 minutes on Proteus VII, and 22:30 minutes on Ebaro Snow Storm. You can only hit those time markers after playing through the levels to build up the weapons though. Still--all-in it's way less than 10 hours of game play without the online component.

Complaints:

1) the system for switching weapons is annoying because the game doesn't pause when you press the weapon select button. If you want to scan the weapon types for the weapon with the most ammo, then you either have to walk away from enemies while doing it or get hit. Pretty annoying, though I assume this is related to training you for the competitive play mode where you actions can't pause the actions of another live player.

2) the map system that tracks where the enemies are in relation to you doesn't zoom out far enough. You hear "Your base is under attack," teleport back to your base, and then don't know which way to go to defend your base because the enemies--while still approaching the base--are still too far from you to show up on your radar. I don't want to wait for the baddies to come to me, I want to go get those guys to build up my weapon experience points rather than rely on my placed turrets.

For $20 the game is definitely worth it if you plan on committing to the online competitive play. If you're not an online gamer, then I'd just rent the game and spend one night playing it through.

As a current owner of all prevision Ratchet games I turned off my console after 2hrs due to frustration, to poor controls, and no story mode. This game is comprised not of levels to explore but of maps to defend, you can play solo/co-op or online. Each map takes place on a different planet. Bolts are collected to defend a tower. Guns unlocked on previous maps must be unlocked each level. Controls are not the same (worse) then previous games. Would really enjoy a R&C along the lines of the Future series or any from PS2. In sort, would rate this lower then R&C All4One...

A game like Rock Band is all about the music. More tracks equal more fun. Of course you want the right songs and for me this pack had them. Normally I would just download different songs I like but I tend to like most songs on this pack so it was worth it to just get the whole pack.

So take a look at the track list and if you like a majority of the songs then grab it. If not then just download the ones you want and save yourself some cash.

This is simply a must have for PS3 Rock Band 3 owners since it gives you 20 very popular and fun titles for a measly $10 bucks. That's 50 cent a song compared to the Rock Band store which is $2 per song.

Simply export these songs and play. Details on exporting can be found at Rockband.com. No export key is needed to buy (in comparison to exporting Rock Band 1 or 2)

Great track pack for less tha $10, the only bad thing is that to integrer song to other rockbands you have to download all of them from internet, instead of just copy them from de disc.

Treated as a standalone product, this game demonstrates almost all of the important features of Rock Band. If you already own a compatible Guitar Hero guitar or something of the sort, it makes a lot of sense to buy this game before you buy Rock Band or Rock Band 2 from a cost perspective. Easy enough to walk away and resell it with the download coupon in-tact if you decide you don't care for it, too.

On the coupon: Is there any rational reason at all that the developers have to force Rock Band owners to redownload every song on the disk, at an additional cost of the time it takes to grab several hundred megabytes of content that the owner already has on hand? Not a big problem with a fat pipe, but on my 256k line it had to run overnight to complete. Seemed unnecessary and a bit tacky to me.

What you see there is what you get,There are no hidden songs or unlockables so if you don't like many of the above songs then maybe you should skip this track pack.

Enough of my dabbling let's get on to the Pros & Cons:

Pros:

*You get 20 extra songs to add to your Rock band library

*A good mix of genres from modern to past hits

*Same Rock band experience, nothing really changes from the original game just more tracks

Cons:

*Transferring the 20 songs to your system so they can be used with Rock Band 2 is a hassle, especially if you have no way of connecting your console to the internet.I know they do it this way to prevent piracy but they should think of the consumers that still don't have broadband or cable access.

*Not enough songs! If you play like me you'll find that you will play through these songs at a rapid rate and will be yearning for more. Why not double the songs on the disc and up the price a bit.

Overall the game is excellent and if you like Rock band and like the set list included with this track pack, then grab this one and continue your journey of rock goodness!

I bought this as I expected it to be (as advertised) a bluetooth wireless controller for both PS3 and PC. It turns out, it is wireless only for the PS3. There is no way to successfully pair the controller to a bluetooth computer (even using sixpairtool, etc.). It will work with third party bluetooth stacks like those on iOS and Android, but it will not work with the native bluetooth stack in Windows like any PC advertised bluetooth controller should. The device only functions as a PC controller when it is wired, which makes it useless for the reason I purchased it. Time to start the return.

I ordered this controller because it was cheap and I knew that I could find about 30 uses for it. It actually turned out to be more sturdy and well built than I expected based on other reviews, maybe even a little better than sony's ps3 controllers. They've got some weight to them, they fit in your hand well, they don't feel flimsy or cheap, and they look pretty good.

Since the controller is sixaxis based, I can easily pair it with my android tablet and play about anything with it. From emulators to GTA: Vice City, it works just as expected.

Good job!

Firstly I did tons of research before this purchase. I can't stand FPS on console. However all my friends are on PSN so I picked this up because MW2 on PC Multiplayer is sorely lacking, so if I'm gonna play something that I'm not completely happy with I might as well do so with friends.

Here's where the FragFX comes in, I have MW2 sensitivity set to max, and the setting on the "fragchuk" to 3. Smooth as silk. I saw so many reviews about it being crap, aftr a few hours hands on I'd have to disagree. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could because there are some minor flaws.

1. Doesn't support Windows 7 64 bit (Website says the Pro will as of Jan 2010, I have the v.2 SE and it says nothing about 64 bit. I tried to force it under XP compatability but it wouldn't do it's thing. Luckily my laptop is 32 bit but I still can't seem to get it to update, I'm guessing because the laptop is Windows 7)

2. Feels a bit cheap

3. The R3 button (where a mouse wheel would be) is kind of hard to hit, and the start button is right below that

The good stuff

1. Smooth as silk on MW2

2. The waggle options are great, I use it to bypass my issues with R3 as I have a side to side motion set (which in MW2 is default Knife). I also have the throw motion mapped to grenade.

3. As I'm unable to fully update the firmware, I'm happy to say that the research I did where people said it's crap for MW2 were completely wrong.

Don't bother doing research on the net as most of the bashing or super hyping of this product is done by 1 postcount trolls. As you can see I've had plenty of other reviews that have nothing to do with the PS3.

So I've been using the PS3 FragFX controller for over 6 months now. I don't bother posting reviews until I HAVE FULLY TESTED THESE ITEMS!

The controller at first did have a "cheap" feel to it. But I gave it's due chance. After 3 hours of play... it was simply awesome! A great solution for ex-PC Game players! I love using a mouse and keyboard for game play and this was the (only) best solution at the time. I soon became very confident in the game play and the reaction time of the controller was top notch!

But here's a negative. The R3 button is way too close to the start button. The R3 button in MW2 is defaulted for knife use. Many times I have mistakenly pressed the start button at the same time resulting in the start menu popping up. As we all know... every second counts in this (these) games and this was and still is annoying.

After 3 months of play, I got the dreaded "auto button pressing" issue. This seems to be the same issue that has been happening with many other users. At first is was just "auto-firing". Then it started pressing the "start button" randomly. And so as a Computer Technician, I don't have it in me to "send in" the controller just to get a different (new one) that will eventually duplicate the same faults in the future. So I did what I do.... I took the thing apart!

Problem solved:

Like many (soft) keyboards, cell phones, and calculators... the PS3 FragFX uses soft plastic "bushings" in between the hard plastic buttons and the controller board. Giving the user the "soft" cushion feel upon pressing the buttons. These soft plastic bushings, after hours of play, simply "pop" out of position internally. It took me about 10 mins to take the "mouse" controller apart. (yes it's tricky) Than I tinkered with the pieces for another 10 mins. Re-aligning the soft bushing into place. Then it took me another 5-10mins to put it back together. Presto! It worked AS GOOD AS NEW immediately!

After 6 months of play, I had to take apart my PS3 FragFX 2 times. About 2-3 months apart. But I'm a pretty HIGH intense player! So I may "beat-up" my controllers more than others may do.

Splitfish will never tell you to open up your controller. By doing so you WILL void the warranty on the unit. So take this thing apart "at you own risk". This pretty much proves that I am in no way affiliated with Splitfish. And I in no way want to "piss them off". Because us gamers appreciate their decision to tackle such an IMPORTANT piece of artillery to my arsenal!! Now I challenge them to improve on their product! Please make the next version better, stronger, faster! Keep it up Splitfish!

(PS I will be testing FragNstein next!! See you in 6 months!)

As I'm typing this I currently use Eagle eye and Fragfx 1. Fragfx 1 is still the best choice to emulate a gamepad for the last 3 years. Splitfish terminated firmware updates a month or so ago when the 3.5 sony patch came out leaving us with bricked fragfx1's. Another site Tuact the competition actually helped us fragfx 1 owners out and released a patch so now it works. Very bad business with splitfish but I still give the version 2 se a fair review. Eagle eye is an adapter that allows you to use your own mouse very awesome and also worth checking out I use this exclusively even with the fragfx 1 working eagle eye is great.

Hopefully the video lets you see what I saw but keep in mind this is still much better than a gamepad if you are a serious pc gamer the choice is obvious.

This is my 3rd purchase of Splitfish products. Both FragFX V2 controllers have failed. The first in 5 months the 2nd in 1 month. Each had a different issue. The original FragFX worked great for over a year. Company support has been good but who cares. I don't want to wait for a replacement for an item with less than 25 hours of use. Absolute garbage. When it works it works GREAT and helps my gaming.

The FragFX Pro is garbage, but this is a good product. I used it for about a year to play COD: World at War and Killzone 2. The biggest problems is it's cheaply made. I was pretty rough on mine and it didn't break, but the quality is low. The next problem is the R3 button and the start button are right next to each other. I just stopped trying to knife people is COD because I usually just ended up pausing the game and getting killed. A lot of people who loved this controller are going to trash it because they got burned when they bought the FragFX Pro and want to get back a Splitfish. There are better products out there, but this works as advertised.

This guitar is a piece of crap. It sucks it does not work correctly and is cheaply made. It turned off my PS3 several times or paused the game or brought up the systems menu. It does not work correctly at all. I got it for Guitar Hero 3 and the thing must be defective or just poorly made. I know it doesn't work with Rock Band because it says so. This is just a very sad piece of merchandise. .

This guitar DOES work for Rockband 2 (after patch). It feels cheap, looks decent (I like the solid black look not as wild as others). I only really have two complaints.

1. The "strum" lever (whatever it is you hit w/your right hand) is rather loose. I find it easier to accidentally hit it than the "official" RB2 guitar.

2. A previous poster did complain about some problems w/the XMB. The button w/the thumbprint icon serves as the PS button on the controller. I've found that there is a HUGE amount of lag from pressing that button to the XMB showing up. This does lead to some confusion and frustration.

All in all, this is a good back up guitar. I wouldn't recommend it for continuous primary play.

I picked this up originaly thinking it would work with rock band...of course it did not. Not sure why a 3rd party would not make a guitar that would satisfy the dispute between rock band and guitar hero but they didn't. As for the game play with the guitar (GH3) very cheap feeling. The strum bar has a defined reaction when used, meaning it clicks and does give a reflexive response like the rock band guitar. Now some who play GH3 will be used to that, personally, I don't get it, you dont get that feel of strumming a guitar, very boolean. The button were fine but I felt they were too small and very distant for human hands. Sure guitar frets are far apart, but this is a game, not a training tool. Therefore I would say go get a genuine real mccoy GH3 backup, plus there will be less fighting with the kids on who gets the "cool" guitar, not saying which one I like better. Two stars only because it does actually work with GH3.

These do add a new dimension to the rock band drums. It does feel a little more like playing a real drum kit. So far, in the last 3 weeks, these have performed well as far as only dropping a note once in a while (you get what you pay for right?).

These are insanely loud man! It's like CRACK, CRACK, CRACK when you hit them. They're louder than the rock band 1 drums and not NEARLY as quiet as the rock band 2 drums. That is a major CON for me.

When my friends and I get together to play rock band 2 these are totally distracting to everybody else in the room, unless you play in a house and not an apartment where you can just blast the volume, that would be nice.

My solution was to put 1/4" neoprene material on the hitting part of these cymbals. It is a marked improvement. They have not lost any sensitivity and are now about as quiet as the rock band 2 drums. If you're going to use these that is a great solution. I bought a roll of this neoprene to pad a poker table I was upgrading and I used some of the leftover. By the way, you can get enough neoprene to cover these for like 5 on ebay.

I recently purchased this add-on for the Rock Band 2 Drum Set. Over all I really like it. I believe it lends to a more enjoyable/realistic playing experience.

Some Pros: You get two cymbals which is nice and fills out the drum set with out making it too cluttered (Which is why I opted for two instead of three). When you use the freestyle drum trainer, the cymbals work just like cymbals while all the pads act just like drums which is kinda cool. You do have some options as to the height and location of the cymbals. The response seems to be good and I haven't had any problems with them not registering hits. They do appear to be velocity sensitive also meaning the harder you hit the louder the sound in the game.

A Con: The initial setup is kind of tough. You basically get a two piece plastic clamp that you use to secure the cymbal "pole" to the rest of the drum set. The clamp snaps together in two places and then you have little "wing-nut" bolts you use to tighten everything down securely. Those "wing-nut" bolts are hard to use because the distance from the place you screw in the "wing-nut" bolt to the hole it goes in, is kinda far. SO you have to squeeze on the clamp to get the bolt in there. Maybe is was just my setup but I don't think a child would be able to do it on their own.

Other then that I am enjoying this addition to my gaming experience.

Overall these are a great expansion to your Rock Band 2 drumkit (they don't work at all with Rock Band 1 Drums). The cymbals seem to be solidly made and can withstand some decent beating. I agree with the previous review about the set up being somewhat difficult. You need to be careful to put the wingnut in before clicking the two pieces together. But once everything is on they are very stable and feel like a normal part of the kit.

Game-wise they make for some nice playing in rock band. The cymbals take over two of the colors and you choose which by choosing which plug on the back of the kit. The caps on the cymbals can be changed depending on which color you are using them as. When you plug them in for rock band the cymbals become cymbal sounds while the pads they replace become toms.

These also work with Guitar Hero World Tour. However, it should be noted that you probaly want Yellow and Blue with World Tour while you probably want Yellow and Green with Rock Band because of the way you kick off star power. That means some annoying switching and a bit of confusion after switching if you only get the 2 cymbal kit. I kind of wish I woulda gotten the three just to avoid that.

But they definitely make drumming more fun, more immersive, and more difficult if you want it to be since you can now play a cymbal when it calls for one rather than just another pad. Some Madcatz stuff is a little hokey but these are legit.

First off, I believe these cymbals fantastic. It makes it feel more realistic and significantly easier to play.

That being said, I initially noticed the same annoying "plastic" sound when I started using the cymbals. I tried putting Rock Band Drum Silencers on the top of the cymbal, like someone suggested, but the sound was still there. I tried tightening the colored wingnuts and that still didn't help. After analyzing the cymbals a little more, I noticed the "plastic" sound was coming from the housing on the underside of the cymbal. The noise was created from the hard plastic housing hitting the hard plastic on the body of the cymbal. Once I realized that, I knew inserting a rubber-like gasket would fix the problem.

To fix the plastic noise:

1. Unscrew the four small screws holding down the plastic housing

2. Cut up a small rectangle of the Rock Band Drum Silencers or mousepad-material (about 0.5" x 3")

3. On the side nearest the cymbal hitting zone, placed the material between the edge of the housing and the body of the cymbal. You do not need to adhere the material to the surface using tape or glue, because the screws will secure it in the next step.

4. Then replace the 4 screws, snuggly squishing the material.

Note: You'll notice the housing won't completely screw down flush with the surface, but that's good since you're preventing the two surfaces from hitting each other, while having a rubber-like material damping the shock.

I've been using the cymbals with this mod for about 6 months with no problems. Now my cymbals are about as quiet as the rest of the drum kit.

I hope this helps someone.

Fixing the cymbal slippage problem-

This is for those of you who are experiencing the problem of the poles that support the cymbals slipping down in the clamps: I had this problem at first, but the corrective is fairly simple and actually is in the directions. It's hard to interpret on the graphic, but what you need to do is to mount the clamps to the drum set, without the cymbal poles in their holes. Then you have to squeeze the two halves (right/left)that make up the clamp together in the middle as hard as you can (I used pliers) until they snap together completely. You'll know it's right when you hear the "snap" as indicated in the directions and the gap between the two halves is totally gone. Then you can insert the cymbal poles and tighten the wing nuts on both ends. If the two halves aren't snapped together, the clamps can't get tight enough to hold the pole in place. Of course, designing a smooth plastic pole to fit into a smooth plastic clamp probably isn't the best idea, but hey...

For the review-

I'm a long-time drummer that bought this kit to make the decidedly unrealistic RB2 drums get a little more realistic. They do allow you to add the positioning of real cymbals, to a degree. Unfortunately, they lack any realistic flexibility for placement. You can basically rotate them a little side-to-side, based on which pole they're attached to and you can move them up and down, but that's it. You can't place one in the traditional high hat location, to the left of the snare, or to the far right of the drums where you'd normally have a ride cymbal. Adding some sort of boom setup to one of the cymbals would help with this problem. it's also the main reason I didn't buy the 3-cymbal setup, since you couldn't put them in the typical spots for most drummers. The other omission is a lack of a tilting mechanism for the cymbal surface itself. Few drummers like their cymbals perfectly horizontal, but that's pretty much what you get here. That makes doing a ride pattern on the shoulder (top) surface of the cymbal difficult. It's ok for crashes, but doing a sustained ride on the cymbal's edge feels awkward because of the way the cymbals rebound. Along that lines, the "feel" of these cymbals is ok if you can get the right amount of tightness on the wingnuts holding the cymbal down. Too loose and the rebound goes to zero. And yes, these are lounder than the new RB2 drums, especially when you have to play on the edge all the time.

While these comments may make it sound like I don't care for the cymbals, I am actually very glad I bought them. They do add a degree of realism when playing the game, especially when I reach up to hit the crash without thinking about it, rather than going down to the lower right drum pad. They smartly added the feature where the cymbal pads act as cymbals all the time, but the drum pads go either way, just as they do in the absence of the cymbals. That means you can hit the right note (i.e. a crash) either on the pad or the cymbal and not be wrong. The nice thing is that during the fill and rock ending parts, the cymbals sound only as cymbals and the drum pads only as drums, making more complicated fills possible.

I am a big fan of "The Fight : Lights out" and I bought SC2 primarily for boxing. Frankly I haven't played other games in SC2, but I can say boxing alone is worth the price of admission if you are into this type of game. If you liked Lights out, you will love SC2 boxing.

Both Lights out and SC2 boxing provide great workout and very accurate 1-1 mapping of your movement. However, I think SC2 boxing is more fun, realistic, and make you sweat more for the following reasons:

1) Unlike Lights out, you can't upgrade game character's skill by in-game trainings or buying add-on package. Your game character is only as good as your own speed, stamina, and the game plan. This makes sense because, this way, when you advance, you know it's because of the improvement of your own skill, not that of the game character.

2) SC2 boxing is much harder especially when you get to the gold level and up. You have to have game plan to win. You won't be able to win without understanding opponent's tendency & pattern, dodging, blocking and counter striking. You have to have really fast combo sequence like dodge, left upper-cut, right straight, and step back, etc. The faster you can do this, the less likely to be countered and the more damage you can dole out. You really need to work at it, and this becomes a great intense workout.

3) Fight can last long sometimes to 5 rounds decision especially with certain opponents who tend to wait for you to throw first and counter. So you have to balance your stamina. A grueling long fight is actually more fun and satisfying, and you are guaranteed to sweat from a couple of fights like this.

4) Some other thoughts You can throw a fake punch, and the opponent sometimes reacts to that making himself more vulnerable for your follow-up attacks. That's how realistic this game is. Again, counter punching is the key and incur much more damage. You have to pay close attention to opponent's movement and develop a good reflex. Graphic, animation, sounds, and vibration feedback are fantastic compared to Lights out which is black & white and too dark. A couple of gripes I have compared to Lights out are that SC2 doesn't have an online mode and character's face doesn't reflect incurred damages (like cuts, bruises, blood, etc) I guess this is a family game so I can understand the latter, but I really wished it had the online mode which would have been super fun.

Don't get me wrong, Lights out is still a great fight game (more brawl type of game), but SC2 boxing seemed to have outdone it by adding more elements of realism and strategy. Sorry, at this point, I am just playing boxing and haven't had chance to play other games, but wanted to let you boxing fan know as soon as possible how good SC2 boxing is.

I'm still playing the first one because is still great, but this new one is more than great! The good thing is (If you still like the first one) with this one you have 6 more different games, so you don't have to get rid of the first one because with both you have 12 different games to play.

This new one came with the following games: Skiing, Tennis, Boxing, Bowling, Golf and Archery (This Archery is different than the Archery of the first one).

Also came with the following features and content:

Bonus Golf DLC (Free code to download at Playstation network) with three modes: Scramble, Best Ball and Stableford.

Additional content in the DVD game: Two demo games, Medieval Moves "Deadmund's Quest" and Sport Champions the first one, just install and play. If you buy the second one and don't have the first one, you can try it in this demo.

Additional content in the DVD game: Sport champions 2 digital manual, the game did not comes with a printed manual like other games, the manual is digital.

Is 3D compatible.

You can create and customize the characters.

You can play using one or two Move controllers, along or multiplayer.

You can play Three modes: Free mode, champion mode and a new party mode.

You can practice each game before begins the mode you want.

This is a great game to play with someone or along. I think the price is ok, but you can wait until black Friday and maybe get a better price. I hope this review can be helpful.

for $40, a pretty amazing value.

So far, the boxing is great. Its not as complex a game as The Fight, but the game play is simpler and in some ways more fun. The boxing opponents are easy, but I've only played once, and in "bronze cup," so I'm sure they'll improve. I'm hoping The Fight comes out with another version at some point, or someone puts together a top notch "move controller" boxing game. The programming on this version of boxing is a good step toward that goal.

I was looking forward to the Bowling, since I've enjoyed the Wii version with friends in the past. Unfortunately it's disappointing because Wii bowling is still better. I played a 10 frame game with 2 other people, and none of us ever threw a gutter ball, which is annoying and unrealistic. Takes some of the fun out of actually rolling a good ball. I was hoping there was something in Game Options like "gutter balls, on or off," or "easy, medium, hard." But there isn't, and unless the difficulty level increases and gutter balls become part of the game as the game advances in difficulty through Cup Play, it sort of ruins an otherwise nicely programmed bowling game.

The skiing is actually fun, nice to have a racing game with the motion controllers.

archery is more or less like the last one, not something I really care about. But its probably great if you like target games. It's certainly well done. If you liked the last one, you'll like this one. The events are creative.

The golf is as good or better then Wii golf. I think the disk golf of Sports C 1 is a better game so far, but this golf is still well done, and a good addition.

I don't think the Tennis is as good as the table tennis of the first one, but maybe it'll get better as the difficulty increases, just like the table tennis did in the first one.

All the games are well done in this version, the bowling is the only disappointment due to the gutter ball issue. Well worth the money if you liked Sports Champions 1.

This game offers 6 new sports to play with the playstation move, and it works just as great, if not better than the first one.

Want Sports Champions 2 Discount?

I love the first Sports Champions, so was extremely excited for this one to come out. The sequel improves in almost every way, but here's how I break down the comparison:

Archery vs Archery Both games have it, the second one seems to be a little better.

Bowling vs Bocce I personally enjoy Bocce, more variety etc.

Boxing vs GladiatorBoth fun, but I like the gladiator from the 1st one a little better.

Tennis vs Ping PongPing Pong was my favorite from the 1st and to me is MUCH better than tennis.

Golf vs Frisbee Frisbee lends itself to the move in a much more natural way.

Skiing vs VolleyballHard to say. I do like the skiing a lot.

Overall, the second one is more polished, adds some great things, and improves upon the first in presentation and a few features. However, as far as a sport by sport comparison, I enjoyed the first one's sports a little better. I am not sorry I purchased either one at all, but after the newness of this one wears off a bit, I have a feeling I'm gonna go back to the first more often than this one.
