Def Jam Icon is one of the shallowest games I've played in years and is highly repetitive and boring.

You get to create what your character looks like but you have to be male and you must be some shade of black/mixed. This character then goes through the trials and tribulations of becoming a big-shot music producer and you fight your way through all the confrontations in between.

Sounds like it might make a good game but it's VERY linear and pretty much every decision you make in the management half of the game has little or no effect on anything. How good would it be to download your own tunes onto the PS3 and mix them into new tracks for the game? Tough, you can't.

There are about 10 different environments to fight in but they all get rather tiresome after the millionth battle and there are never any really cool moments when you interact with the crumbling area. Def Jam Icon is all flash and no substance I'm afraid, I actually liked Def Jam Fight for NY a lot better.

Being as though this game was the predecessor of Fight for the streets of new york, It had a lot to live up to. This game BOMBED. The controls are clumsy and convoluted, everything about it sucked...

I can not take this game seriously. Its too funny the way the environments move with the music. Its hilarious I just find it unbelievable that EA would put out a game this bad the controls suck so bad the computer always has the upper hand. If you can find this game for 99 cents and you don't have a coke machine close by to better spend this money its a good item to make your game collection look more full. It can be just like mine a decoration

This is the first video game i ve ever rated. I play and own many video games,. In terms of brawling def jam fight for ny was the best. i am only doing this rating bcos i have been and im still searching for the next gen version or any ps3 game that comes close to def jam fight for ny. Def jam icon is the totla opposite.I actually want to give it zero stars but thats impossible. The graphics are ok, not spectacular like heavenly sword or assassin's creed. just plain ok. ....The game play is downright horrible....long load time...lag times when u try to attack, the environmental hazards and dj controls are just corny and do not in anyways add to the game ( this is a true hiphop fan talking who listened to beatboxing...80's & 90's hiphop) this game does not cut it at all...i have tried so many times to love but unfortuantely ...it is just that poor...if EA games is smart the would produce a great next gen def fight for ny type of games and not this rubbish

The main problem that I have with this game is that it doesn't follow the wrestling format of the previous two Def Jam titles. Now, it appears to be a street fight format.

Also, there appears to be camera, frame rate, or physics engine issues (I don't know which because I'm not a game developer). All I know is that when I push the button to kick my opponent, I expect the kick to be attempted when I press the button, not five seconds later. Meeting a deadline is not a good reason to sacrifice quality.

If EA could not produce a decent version of the game in the time they allotted for development, then they should have just rolled back the release date, or if they couldn't improve upon the game's current state, then they should have just trashed the idea for a sequel altogether.

Don't waste your money on this game, not even to rent it. If you want to play a wrestling game, play one of the previous two Def Jam games or the latest WWE release.

The quality of this product is fine. The problem is with the total lack of customer support. The Stash Box we received had parts missing, namely the pins that hold the adjustable shelf. I went to the website listed to find out how to get the replacement parts. All numbers listed are Canadian. They will not talk to you if you are in the U.S. You are told to call the U.S. number by the customer rep, but they do not know what the number is. Everything you can access online is Canadian. In short, we now have a storage box with no means of using the shelf. I would highly recommend that you DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING from this company. I won't.

you can make that yourself slap some crap together maybe use a few screws i don't know get creative. whatever you come up with it has got to be better than this. there are no slots to seperate anything, nothing, no design. who gets paid for this crap. a kid flunking out of shop class can make this, no offense if your that kid. i guess it could work if you want to pull other things off the shelf when you grab a particular item, or even better yet knock something behind it forcing a beloved video game r movie to fall out of the case and get scratched. ;(

I am going to attach a video of this storage stand along with the attached GameOn Video Gaming Console Storage Yellow. For the longest time I had the top part and had it sitting on the floor. A lot of people said that it looked really cheap and took away from the decor of my living room. I wasn't sure if I should just throw it away and buy something else. The only problem was that nothing else was really made that I liked. Most console stands either looked cheap or took up too much space. I'm not saying that this stand is perfect, but it isn't bad. The first issue I have is the price. I do believe the price should be set at a better price point for what you receive. The second point is that Cambre should sell both as a set. The set will probably sell well at $99.99.

Now to the construction. The construction is strong sturdy wood. I'm not sure if it's pressed wood because every part is covered with yellow, and can't see any signs of painted pressed wood. If I had to guess I'd say it's real wood, but don't quote me on that. The product is heavy and sturdy. You're provided with a lot of heavy duty bolts and screws. Both bottom and top pieces fit well together, as there are four holes where a screw locks into a nut that connect the two pieces from each accessory. The screws fit in well, and anybody can put this together with ease by just looking at the pictures provided.

There are plenty of heavy duty screws if you'd like to attach it to the wall, but I feel that defeats the purpose because ventilation is limited due to the console being close to the wall. I just have mine sitting on the floor.

The one con I see with the top accessory is that I feel like it was designed for a white system like the Wii. I wish there were black holders on the top to accommodate the black consoles.

Pretty much now, I get the usual compliment of "Hey, I like that!" After receiving that compliment I cannot dog this product out, and have to get credit where credit is due. Great job from the USA to the Great White North ay!

Yesterday, when I came home from work I played this game for 5 hours. The TDU2 servers were down, so many of the challenges were unavailable. Nonetheless, I thought to myself Atari isn't ready for prime time. Next, my code for the Vantage V12 Carbon Black Edition didn't work. Well, today everything is fixed and it's a different situation. As soon as I came home from work, the code worked and online was available.

The reason I was initially dissatisfied with this game is honestly the 3 used cars that you can start with have low resolution graphics and are blocky looking. That's an undeniable fact. I drove my blocky car around, but I chose the mode where the car is invisible, so I just saw the speed/tachometer. As I started driving, the phone in my car rang, I was asked if I wanted to go to driving school. I accepted, and proceeded to take the Classic Mustang Challenge. I was so frustrated and couldn't wait to post bashing Atari. The truth is that challenge doesn't belong at the beginning of the game, and can frustrate someone beyond belief. The final challenge is to drive a classic Mustang (which fishtails, just like the real deal) around a track twice. I finally found out the trick, but I kept scoring 2:03 (maximum time is 2:00), but once I figured out the shortcut (between the 2 metal poles) everything was simple. After that, I got a haircut, checked out some houses, grew a goatee, and bought some new sneakers. It seemed a little cheesy at first, but if you enjoy Playstation Home, you'll enjoy this part of the game.

After I passed my first challenge of six races I won $50,000, and went to the Audi dealer. It's cooler than you think. You can sit in the car roll down the windows, etc. etc, just like you were buying a real car. You can customize the color, pay extra for nicer rims, etc. While I was in there, there were other online players buying cars, and the whole experience felt like I really bought an Audi. The car dealer really resembled a car dealership to a tee. And of course, true to it's name you can test drive any car before you buy it, even if you don't have any money, just like in real life. LOL

Physics: The driving physics are spot on, and can be adjusted through the options.

Environments: Ibiza, Hawaii, and off-road driving. absolutely breathtaking, and the graphics for the environments are high definition quality.

Automobiles: New automobiles at dealerships look phenomenal, and are highly detailed. Oh yeah, and make sure you get your car washed. In fact, make positively sure you get your car washed. It's not a car wash like GT5, and you'll see what a $1500 car wash looks like. A lot of pleasant surprises in this game. As I play this game longer and longer, I love it even more.

edit 2/18/11 :

so now Game Spot and IGN gave this game poor ratings. As I've stated there are parts of the game (especially tests) that could have been improved.

CHALLENGES-The trick to the challenges is to get the best car and have a lot of discovery points to upgrade to a Level 3. For instance, the Golf GTI handles horribly, but it's possible to get 2 better cars for the A7 test (keep going back to used car shop). The problem is one challenge of the six is always impossible. You can always end up with 1st place even if you come in 8th place for one challenge and 1st for all of the others. I've been on the forums and a lot of people are speaking of the problems with the challenges.

CRUISING GAME-Some people have said that this is a great "cruising" game, and I agree. It's truly relaxing to just discover 100% of the map. I started off with the A5 Audi convertible and I had a great time driving on asphalt, while driving Ryan's car offroad which is fully upgraded because of discovery points. Myself, as a big FPS fan thought that this would be a great filler game until KZ3 came out. I canceled my pre-order of KZ3 because I want to fully complete this game. It's really addictive. Currently, I'm on Level 13 and driving the McLaren from the A1 class.

GLICHES-I haven't had any glitches so far. IGN claimed that there was a glitch while they were "spectating" a race. I haven't seen any glitches yet, so that video baffles me.

This game is the type of game for the most part is non-competitive and relaxing. As Gamespot has stated in their video, there may be problems, but that doesn't make TDU2 a deal breaker. I could lower my rating, but a lower rating means many gamers would be missing out on a fun experience that they'd never have. It's okay to nitpick, but in terms of fun, this game is a must-buy.

UPDATE: Feb 20,2011. Not a good day for the servers today. I actually enjoyed myself immensely trying to explore Ibiza offline. I discovered 99% of Ibiza 2 (100% of Ibiza 1), and couldn't find the last 1% after 5 hours of zooming in the map, driving around etc. Finally, the servers were up later this afternoon and something was seriously wrong. The game was unplayable. The screens would show every other second of game-play. On top of that I couldn't sell my Audi SUV that I purchased from PSN. I was stuck with an off-road vehicle as my primary vehicle. The server issues has to be fixed. This is unacceptable. What's going on? This honestly is the most fun I've had in a while playing a video game. It's becoming harder and harder to recommend this game Atari. Please get these issues fixed.

This game definitely has its flaws. To be quick, it more suited for someone who likes GTA: San Andreas without the violence. You get to go get a haircut, try clothes, buy houses, and test drive cars. You also get to go off roading. GTA san andreas was very similar in those ways especially the huge islands. If you like the arcade style racers and the ability to just cruise, you will love this game.

If you want a gran turismo 5 handling experience, don't look here. It is almost impossible to execute and fishtail, drift or just cornering is very artificial. That is the downside. Graphics are pretty good however sometimes bogs with multiple players.

I wouldn't pay over $30 for this until they fix the handling issues. If you just want to have fun then this is a great game. Just don't expect realistic handling.

Don't mind the other reviewer if you read it all he talks about is spinning out and hitting stuff... Something tells me he just flat out can't get the controls down etc. To start there is 3 modes of driving. There is a Casual mode for the Casual Racing fan, Sport mode which takes some assists off and is more challenging, and Simulation type mode which has no assists. With that being said, maybe he should try some different modes, I recommend Casual for him, I am using Sport and you do need to control your gas pedal and brake pedal, Obviously if you hit a corner at 100mph your probably not going to make it...

Enough about steering...

Lets talk about game play, The game play is done well, with a generic racing event which you must compete in.

There are some interesting moments during playing, sometimes things would get goofed up etc, just little bugs.

ONE thing I did notice was a 300+mb Update when I installed this on day one of release!

Good racing game to hold you over for NFS Shift2 :P

Great Online racing also, Had alot of fun seeing others just cruising around in real time!

Garage function is neat, along with the houses you can purchase.

Offroad/Onroad Is fun!

Well, this one is interesting. I like the fact that it has a shifter and large pedals and isn't extremely sensitive when you turn it a little bit. In other words, the car will only move slightly, not suddenly jerk to the left or right like I've experienced with other wheels. When I received it, the T plate in the middle had fallen off, but that didn't bother me too much. What did was the fact that there's a light in the middle that shines quite brightly and distracted me for the 1st few days until I got used to it. Anyway, after about 29 days of abuse (I play on it a good hour or so a day), I heard a crack and come to find out, I broke a gear inside so now whenever I turn it left, it makes a really annoying squeak. It's not one that can be covered up by using headphones (to hear the sound from whatever game one's playing) and is hear able over loud volumes. Since, I've purchased a new PS2 wheel that works GREAT with PC. Playstation 2 Driving Force Wheel is the wheel I use now. Just install the drivers for the Wingman Logitech wheel and you're all set (be sure to plug it in though, otherwise it won't be recignized by your PC).

Cheers.

This is the 3rd wheel I've bought in about 5 years. The feedback effects are pretty good, and you can adjust the strength, aggresivivty and static force with a linear slider. I had to buy a new wheel because on my last 2, (Sidewinder and MOMO) the pedals broke, and there is no way to fix them unless you happen to have some custom tools, and the right size springs. That isn't the problen with this one. This time the clamp stripped itself out. they use a metal pin that fits into a plastic screw hole, and the more aggresive you set the effects, the tighter you have to clamp it down. Yes, the shifter is sequential, but I like that personally. It's got 4 wheel mounted shifter levers, and 8 buttons. However programming profiles into it is a mystery. So long as your game has a wheel configuration mode you will be fine. To program it outside of a game is very confusing. There is NO documentation nor help files to guide you through it, so I gave up. Basicall it's a good system with a retarded mounting component. Now I'm off to get another Sidewinder wheel.

okay..got the wheel in good condition. nothing broken has such. my son played with the wheel and thought it was great, better than the one he had. don't get me wrong thrustmaster people build things to live up to their standard. But the regret i have with the wheel is...why did they did not incorporate the clutch on the same pedal set? is that too hard to ask from them? no..they made it so you can buy another pedal set to put in the clutch. now you have 4 pedals under your feet (which is retarded in my case) just to get a clutch. 2nd...the gear stick goes up and down, not like the logitech g25 which theirs actually works like a real manual stick from a car. has 2 axis, 3 axis and 5 axis (have to program it from their drivers that came with the wheel). that also was dumb how they put that (the gear box). in everything, it has enough buttons to program everything on the wheel. i would have given this 5 stars, if the maker of thrustmaster would have used common sense and put the clutch on the same pedal set, instead of buying another one to activate the clutch. And the gear box, needs to improve abit more, instead of the up and down shifting. i would have bought the logitech, but the logitech is too expensive for its make and it has very little buttons to program (also the buttons are at the gearbox). not a good place to put the buttons in my opnion. the feedback on it only works in some games (and yes it is racing games). the ones i tried it with is..gtr2 (has feedback on that), richard burn rally(also has feedback) need for speed:carbon (has feedback), 18 wheels of steel hauling(has feedback). the only one we not getting a feedback on is the nascar sim racing one. the game suppose have feedback, but we are not getting it here. so if anybody out there know how to make the wheel have feedback on this game, can kindly tell me.

***update*** on looking at the thrustmaster site, i see they heard the cries of customers and of course, trying to beat their competition..logitech with their g25 wheel. they are now sending out a new wheel with the 3 pedals in one (gas, brake and clutch). the gear stick has now chged to the actual shape of a race car gear stick. all in all, they chged a few things on the wheel. according to them the retail price will be $129, that $29 more than the original one they made. it will have the 5 axis still and 4 axis, with the toggle buttton on the wheel.it will be called the Rally GT Force Feedback Pro Clutch Edition. can't wait for this to hit usa sometime next year. if i read right, it will first come out in europe christmas 2006, that gives it 2-3 more months before it hits the USA

Okay i rarely write reviews but i have some time at work to do so. Excuse my grammar ... i spend most my time typing on FB instead of term papers ;-).

The game is simply awesome. It seems like they finally got it right with the physics for this one. With 2k11 (lets skip 2k12 because that was clearly satans spawn) the game play was good once you figured out the controls, but they were missing the actual physic to basketball ... accurate first steps, bumps, defensive recovers, chase downs, spacing, etc. This 2k13 has simply put the NBA Players mind in the full frontal this year. I was surprised how fast and intelligent game play was this year. Please be advised if you dont have any concept of basketball IQ this game will not be fun at all. It seems 2k was holding back with their AI for the past couple of years because they flawlessly implimented most aspects of real NBA basketball. In MyCareer mode you get actual points for spacing or better known as "Good Movement" which is just as important as an assist. Back to game play though

Game play is freaking sweet. You cant just string together a bunch of dribble moves like And 1 "Hot Sauce" and expect to get past a player. You actually have to execute with 5 dribbles or less. D Wade isnt going to cross you up to the right and left then spin around to get to the rim, he is realistically going to blow right by you with a hesitation and examine ur distance from him ... then prowl towards you before doing a crossover and getting around you with a first step and if he cant, he will pass the ball, move with out the ball around a screen and get to the rim on a cut. Respect his Game!

Lebron is simply a beast, you cant guard him nor see him on the court he is beyond intelligent with and without the ball. Allevhe needs is one dribble to make an assist lay up or jumpshot and please dont attempt to post him up.

The physics are incredible, you can actually hang around your man who is sitting a pick, walk past him slow if you choose to in which forcing your man run into him.

Game play is very fast and mistakes arent excused, if your in the wrong spot on the floor and the opposing team gets a rebound or makes a basket during MyCareer Mode, you will be benched like your last name was Lin. The avg time on each side of the court is around 4 9secs unless there is a play being ran.

Graphics are awesome, contact is realistic ... you cant run down the middle and just dunk on everyone unless you have a super all star player who can just part the lane like Moses parting the red sea. You will more likely going in for a lay up. You must be set to make you jumpers ... can dribble than toss it up unbalanced, yes ... they have unbalanced jumpers this year!

I love the game, its not as fustrating as the previous games of last year where you know the computer cheated you out of a win, it soley is based of the "decesions" you make on the court, and you have to be quick making the right choices cus each possesion only last a few seconds.

Finally this day has come, my most anticipated game EVER! Why you ask ? Well I'm a huge bball fan I play the heck out of these games, and the improvements they made this year I just knew from the videos and information I've watched or read it was going to be the best 2K yet.

The game opens up with a edit page for My Player. What is this, where's my intro ? It takes about 10 minutes to complete your My Player creation, then the intro starts...Jay Z's music kicks in with NBA highlight videos & Jay Z screenshots of him performing on stage; a perfect marriage hip hop & the NBA. Could Jay be the next Madden? Once the video ends the main page is shown, your hub; your newly created My Player dancing to the Jay Z song in some chill outfit, haha! The default OKC vs. Heat matchup, and My Career. I selected the game and changed the teams to PHX (CPU) vs. NOR. I heard PHX is surprisingly tough and my online association league I am using NOR so I was geeked to try them out.

I immediately switched to the the 2K cam that I couldn't use in the demo (drove me nuts in the demo, broadcast cam ? Ahhh!) and had a blast, the gameplay was smooth, much more so than the demo. I didn't expect the final game to be so different from the demo, but it thankfully was. The demo seemed to plod along and to me it seemed like maybe the new dribble stick which is great, would hurt the flow of the game as a result, but that wasn't the case the game flows beautifully !

I played on Pro, now Pro isn't a cake walk in past versions. Playing against the CPU is always a challenge, even on rookie, but it seemed easier to me, which means maybe I can play against the impossible to beat CPU this season. I never am able to play a 2K season because it's not fun losing on pro or all pro when I consider myself an above average player, they don't miss even with good D. I win 75% of my games vs. random online opponents (quick match)and next to none vs. CPU, it just was frustrating. It seems like Pro is really Pro this time around.

Well that's all I got so far gents, it was a blast game that I played, 59-54 NOR, it was 2AM, time for bed. There's a ton to do in this game and I just scratched the surface, but the Jay Z soundtrack and the gameplay is beautiful and perfect, I know the rest of the features are going to be whipped cream with a cherry on top. Buy the game with confidence bball fans this game was made for you. BTW in case you are unaware, NBA Live 13 has been cancelled as of last week, that's a fact not an opinion.

Lastly, if you want to test your skill please add me MoultonHawk, PSN.

Updated 10/3...There are new rosters coming out this weekend, so if you are going to start an Association, Create A Legend,or My Player, you should probably wait to start so the rosters are more attractive. For example my SG on Boston is Avery Bradley, he's a PG, and the Lakers still have Barnes (now a Clipper), etc. My Player hasn't been that fun for me in years past because you start so weak and you get no playing time, but I am going to put the time into it this year. I gave CAL (Create A Legend)a go which seems like My Player in concept but with already created real life players. I selected Rondo, and when I earned enough VC (your in game currency, pretty much anything you do that isn't practice earns you VC) I gave Rondo Ray Allen's shot; now this is fun! I played some more online games and I really like the Hornets this year. I'll usually run with a lesser team. SAC,MEM,DET are the teams I've used primarly in the past,it might be NOR this year. All my games were close except when I used Philly and blew out BOS.

Updated 10/5...OK there is this addicting new mode in this game that I have yet to tell you about. It's called MyTeam. It's similar to Ultimate Team in Madden. You can make it faster by buying credits and paying for superstars, but that's not me I earn my keep. Total blast, totally addicted. So you get delt this team and they pretty much suck and you then can sell them and buy lower end players to start but maybe a player you like; e.g. I started with Willie Green. I sold him for Wesley Johnson, huge upgrade but very close in VC (your in game currency value). You can also buy home and away uniforms and attributes with your VC, playbooks, attributes, super icons like defensive stopper, ballhawk etc. You have to play on a court so you can buy different courts and jerseys, etc. You also can spend your VC on these surprise boxes of 5 items. Then once you get your team together you can take them online vs. another created team and battle. They aren't going to quit cuz you get VC for losing. I've heard some idiots are paying for DLC instead of earning it and slaughtering people online with superstars I have yet to find those jerks thank goodness. I only had one bad experience the guy only shot under the basket so frustrating. They said they spent the most time on this feature this year, and partly because it is completely new, that would make sense. This years 2K game is FULL of game modes, more than worth your hard earned dollars as long as you are a big bball fan.

People need to rate the game on how it plays and stop rating the game on how they feel on one thing. The game play is really good in this game a really big upgrade from 2k12. It's more realistic and fun to play because it feels like you controlling every moves you make. The only problem I have is shooting with the shot stick. I play with the shot stick so i have to get use to hold down the L2 button to shoot with the stick. But overall the game is very good.

I have always been an EA Sports fan because I wasn't too impressed with the NK games. NBA 2K13 has really impressed me, very realistic, exciting, graphics are amazing. One issue ti have though is the amount of time it take for the refs to give you the ball, whether it's an out of bounce play or after a bucket; that time spent waiting is really annoying. Overall awesome game.

I'm a huge fan of driving and racing games, so as an early Christmas present, my wife bought a Logitech G27 for me. Great wheel, but when I tried to attach it to a fold out table it just flopped around and was too unstable. So I looked at wheel seats, but at $400, that was too much for me and then where to store it. After a little searching on Amazon, I found the Xlerator BigBoy wheel stand. ( because I'm quite a bit over weight ) with the G27 adaptor. It came with free shipping and arrived within a week. Assembly took less than an hour and I was up and driving NFS Shift in no time.

I really like the fact that this stand allows you to sit back in your couch or chair and is very adjustable. Most of the other stands I looked at really made you sit up over the wheel, which could not be comfortable for any long period of time. The stand with the G27 is a great combination, it's light enough to move around after use, but sturdy enough to keep everything in place even under heavy driver `input'. The pedals stay in place even when you heal toe or stamp on the brake. The finish stands up to my klutzy movements haven't marred it yet. You might find the need for a USB 2 extension if you are using this on the couch, but Amazon sells a 3 meter version for about $8.

Again, one of the great features about this stand is that it can easily be picked up and stored in the closet. When you pick it up for storage, the foot print is only as large as the pedals since the wheel / shifter bar rise up. It doesn't lock in place, but if you rest the upper end against a wall or other object it will stay in place.

Lastly, the pre and post sales support from Xlerator is wonderful. They are very response and helpful.

Overall, 5 stars for a excellent product and a great value.

I purchased this for my husband to go along with his new Logitech Driving Force GT wheel. It arrived quickly, was packaged well, easy to assemble and very well made.

Getting in and out of the chair is easy since the wheel arm pivots up to lift out of the way. It fits comfortably on our couch or recliner and really enhances game play. The frame holds the wheel and pedals in place so you actually feel like you're driving, right from your own comfy couch.

We highly recommend this. Driving games wouldn't be as realistic without it. There is a smaller (regular) version available but hubby is a big guy so we appreciate the extra room of this stand.

I reviewed this over at PS3Blog.net, since I purchased this to go with Gran Turismo 5 and the Logitech PlayStation 3 Driving Force GT Racing Wheel. Here is the bulk of my review from that site:

The outside legs that wrap around your lap are adjustable (all the adjustments are done with spring pins that you line up with the holes). Since I have a large lap, I had to extend the legs all the way, but it still sits comfortably. You can also adjust the length of the support beam (where the lap bar connects to it) to put the foot pedals either closer to you or further out. I like the design they have with this better than a lot of the wheel stands you get at retail stores and the like (since most of them have a support beam that goes between your legs; a less than ideal setup). The only drawback would be if you use a small chair, as the outside legs are best suited for wide chairs and couches (the Big Boy has a 22 inch spread for the lap legs).

With the main support beam going out and then over to the foot pedal base, your legs are free of obstruction, which makes the driving feel more comfortable. The foot pedal itself is a flat piece of metal that, surprisingly, really holds the pedal base in place quite well. While putting it together, I did lose my footing a little bit and stepped right on it (I weigh over 350lbs), and it morphed, but it was also easily bent back into shape (the metal is still sturdy, but I'm not surprised my weight bent it like that).

Keep in mind, the wheel stand was specifically designed for the Driving Force GT, but the manufacturer does have adapters to be able to use it on other wheels (including the G27 and the 360 wireless wheel). With that said, the stand allows you to pivot the main frame back so you can easily get in and out of your chair (the base and lap bars all have rubber feet, so it doesn't slide around and is pretty stable, even in a vertical position), and to make the steering wheel setup easier. Slide the wheel over the flat wheel base plate and lock it in place.

As far as the actual racing goes and how well it works, the simple answer would be amazingly well. For being one of the cheapest stands on the market, I think it's also one of the sturdiest. No matter how high you have the force feedback settings, and how hard you play, the wheel stand stays in place (it slipped on me once at the base, mainly because the carpet is so worn out that it carries little grip, so being able to find a little bit of traction like that was a plus in my book  ).

Since it is easy to take apart and stand, storage is easily done, too. If you have enough room, you can have it rest in the vertical position in a corner, or you can take the steering wheel support/lap bars off and set those to the side to reduce space even more. Personally, I just either leave it in front of the TV, or move it into the corner of my room. The footprint is pretty small.

Even with my wide body and thick legs, the stand didn't get in the way, nor did it twist and turn while I used the wheel. It's surprising how sturdy this thing is based on how it looks (minimal parts, no flashiness). I think that alone (and being able to pivot the bars back to easily get in and out of your seating area) makes this one of the better, understated accessories out there (similar to PS3 RealTriggers, but this likely won't catch on as fast since it's aimed at a much smaller market).

Overall, though, for $120 ($99 if you get the regular sized one), this is quite a bargain if you're big into racing games and want a very sturdy, and affordable (compared to others), wheel stand.

i have been playing GT5 for the last month or so and got tired of struggling with the standard PS3 controller and decided to get the Logitech DRIVING FORCE GT wheel since the G27 isn't fully supported in GT5 the wheel itself is awesome but after using a tray table for @ a week, i needed something more solid so i bought this stand

It came very well packaged and even though the box was kinda beat (thanks UPS) the stand itself was in great condition without a scratch on it

The stand went together very easy and mounting the wheel/pedals was extremely straight forward i was a little concerned about the wobble when the wheel was mounted in the UP position but once you have it "down" in your chair or sofa this thing DOESN'T MOVE ONE BIT

the "arm" the wheel mounts to flips up so if you are playing for a long time or an endurance race & need to snack, do a bathroom run or whatever you just pause the game & flip the wheel stand up

the only complaints i have (minor ones at that)are:

1 no real way to mount the pedals to the base the instruction manual recommends either drilling through base or velcro i went with double sided 3M mounting squares in 3 places & the pedals don't move one bit

2 no way to cable maintenance all the wiring the GT wheel has alot of wiring (i need to use a USB extension cable to get to my PS3)so i would recommend going to a home hardware store and invest a few $ in black cable ties and lay out exactly where u want everything, then put a few ties around the wires & the stand takes way from the sleek look but keeps the wires out of the way while you play

i am very happy with my purchase, very stable & comfortable while playing especially during the Endurance races, quality materials & styling, with this and a Logitech GT wheel its the only way to play GT5!

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU IN LIFE & RACING !

i got this game along with 9 others for the ps3 after selling my xbox 360. after playing it for about 1 hour the first night i was like this sucks its going back to gamestop. after about 15 races i couldnt come in 1st and i bought all the upgrades for my little vw bug. so why the good score you ask ? well let me tell youi woke up the next day and played kane and lynch and i finnished it but i had and hour before work so i put baja back in i was like ill give it another go so i started by buying a new vw unlimited and let me tell you the difference was surreal. 1st in every race on to the next class again 1st in every race whoo-hoo im starting to like it. i unhooked my ps3 and brought it to work and played baja for over 8 hours straight. it is a good game great no but good. the graphics are subpar the environments are good but background stuff like hotels and rollercoasters are bad also the cars arents so hot. the music is good and it really is like real baja the slightest bump can ruin your race and your ride. while baja is far from perfect if there is a baja 2 it will be great. this is the yang to motorstorms yin.it is more realistic play it to see what i mean.

Circuit course races are my favorite with the huge dirt banks to get up on taking turns and winding courses with some jumps but mostly bumps, plus lots of track variations and even a free roaming option to just get out and tear up the scenery that the baja, circuit, rally and hill climb events are all laid out on in one large area, like in parts of Mexico or Utah. Graphics are HD but still sort of come off at times like a very high quality ps2 feel to it, which is not as bad as it may sound, the graphics are very well executed and when you get down to racing they are just fine at blending in and the damage modeling is really cool. Dirt accumulates on your vehicle, which at the end of a long race may be just a dirty roll cage on wheels with smoke coming from the radiator and wheels wobbling. The body panels get knocked off or some are dragging off and bouncing on your vehicle. It's a high speed game with lots of vehicles, collisions and different classes, 160 vehicles with numerous variety with in each class and all very well done. Plus you can tune them with better parts or paint jobs in career mode. Easy menu navigation, tons of options and content galore.

Get the game, get the cheat codes, and hope for a sequel. If the graphics and driving physics where a little better it would be an A game. Driving physics are arcade and at speed you are on the edge of control, which is a good thing, but is to say there is not another game quit like this one. It is different racing from anything you ever played before, which again is good in both ways. If Dirt 2 had these circuit course tracks it would be amazing, and if Baja had a more realistic vehicle feel it would be that much more of a great game. The game scores 100 for sim accuracy cause if you ever watch a dirt truck race and see how far and how much the wheels bounce, this game nailed that part of dirt racing perfectly. Baja: Edge of Control was a perfect name and I want to say this is a perfect game, but I may mislead some who wouldn't appreciate the racing mechanics involved and expect a typical feel race game, which it is and is not. The track design is amazing.

I bought this game a few days ago and the first day I tried it I was very disappointed. I felt like I wasted my money. The graphics are nowhere near what a PS3 can deal out. It reminds me of PS2 graphics. There is also no ingame music while racing. You do get all the sound effects though from your vehicle as well as the competition. Well I decided to give it another go last night. I raced and raced and was having a hard time winning even with all the upgrades to my buggy. Then I switched to a different buggy and with no upgrades I started winning the races easily. I also started getting used to the graphics even though I am still disppointed with them. But the handling of the vehicles is awesome and the physics of the game! The way your vehicle reacts to the environment is really cool with all the bumps and jumps and slides. The races are nice and long too. Some will last up to 3 hours...in stages I believe. I recommend this game when the price drops though due to the graphics. At the current price with PS2 graphics, I can't recommend it.

I bought this off road Baja game for my Xbox since I did not have many racing games. I started playing and I really like it. It has many vehicles to chose from and different terrains or type of races. The vehicles get cosmetic and full damage if you don't take care of them as you are playing. My nephew loves it too, and I recommed it for any off road enthusiast.

This was the exact thing that my son was wanting. It was new, Sony brand, looked like a baseball, and only cost me 44.00, no shipping or tax. At Wal-Mart it cost 60.00 for a new controller and it is just plain. When he told me what he wanted, I did not think that I would ever to be able to find anything like that, but leave it to Amazon. It truly is a sad day for NFL video game fans. Way back in the day we used to have options. Tecmo and Super Tecmo Bowl for a quick and fun arcade experience, and games like Madden on the Sega Genesis for a more realistic approach.

With Madden 09 the only licensed NFL game in the world, you no longer have those options. For someone looking for a realistic and fun experience, over the years Madden has mostly satisfied that itch.

The problem is, in 09 EA focused almost exclusively in it's new animation system (that started w/ FIFA). The producers and developers will often be seen online congratulating themselves on how amazing their animation system works.

While it is true that the animations are better than ever, the problem is how this affects gameplay. This "branching animation system" means that players are no longer "cylinders" that you move around on the field with animations attached to them. In the words of EA, now when you press a direction on the controller you input a command to the player and the dynamic animation will decide what happens next in order to be more natural looking and have less of that "floating" feel of the former maddens.

They are correct, it does indeed look more natural. Unfortunately all players share the same system. This will result in Peyton Manning shucking players to the ground in the same fashion that Lawrence Maroney stiff arms. (Despite Manning having a stiff arm rating that is 70 points lower than Maroney)

The problem is another player comes in to tackle, you press the stiff arm button, the new animation system decides on the fly which stiff arm animation is suitable for the interaction, and boom. Peyton Manning is doing hip throws like Reggie White tossing around weak offensive lineman.

This problem affects not just stiff arms but every animation in the game, tackling, passing, running. Every player animates the same way, negating their stats and turning Brett Farve into the next Marshall Faulk.

Inside linebackers will leap 42" into the air and intercept passes with their backs turned.

Essentially the only stat that matters is as usual the speed rating. To make matters worse there are dozens of freezing issues, crash bugs, franchise bugs, clipping issues etc...

Once I had to watch a replay 10x over because I was amazed that the football had literally passed right through the chest of my TE to appear on the other side, and get intercepted. A condescending Chris Collinsworth can not wait to do an "EA BACTRAX" on that play and explain what I did wrong.

The problem is I didn't do anything wrong, the football phased through the TE like Martian Manhunter.

Clearly EA recognized that the game is cheap and broken, so they included the ability to "rewind" and erase any play. You can of course turn this feature off but you have to wonder why would they make a feature that allows you to reverse time in a realistic sports game?

Clearly the answer is people realized that Madden 09 is no longer a fun game, its frustrating and cheap. The Offensive line can not block the CPU pass rush and even an All Pro Left Tackle will get beat for 3+ sacks per game on All pro or All madden.

There is nothing you can do about it either. If you hold in running backs or TEs to block, they will simply miss the blocking assignment about 60% of the time.

in the real NFL if you miss a blocking assignment even 2 times a game, chances are you will get cut. In madden 09 the best blocking RBs in the game will miss 2x PER DRIVE!

----------------

Update one of the main producers of Madden has left the series. The new producers have OWNED UP to the myriad of flaws in the animation system and admitted that the reason it's broken is because they would speed up or slow down specific animations like the full back hand off, and after time everything became out of sync.

FB hand off became an exploit because it was so fast the defensive lineman would still be getting out of their stance and the FB would be 2 yards into his run. That is just one of the examples, QB drop back was broken as well, the Olineman did not have enough time to start a pocket.

So at least EA has admitted they had a broken pile of code that they had to throw away and start over with. Even tho 09 sold MILLIONS

I'm reviewing this game knowing that they've been making Madden for 20 years. With that about of time and experience, some of what is on display here is inexcusable.

Graphics: I'm not sure what everyone's talking about, but this is the same engine we've seen for the last several years.

(A)The new weather effects are decent but nothing spectacular. You will not see field degredation beyond footprints, and the snow still seems fake to me.

(B) The grass is much different. On replays, though, it doesn't look nearly as good as it does from the default isometric angle. But if you buy games based on grass improvements, by all means spring for this one. It's certainly better looking than its competition like NFL blitz or All-pro 2k8.

Audio:

(A) The commentary is almost as awful as it has ever been in Madden in the last 10 years. Hammond, the play by play guy, sounds so fake it is hilarious. You will laugh at his comments, especially when he feigns emotion at a big tackle or says WHAT A HIT. Collinsworth, god bless him, tries his heart out to be natural, and he definitely puts in a great performance. The problem is that the designers didn't properly do the commentary system. Here, Collinsworth's comments -I think every single one of them, actually -is removed from the specifics of your game. He issues way too many general comments, such as, "That's really why the d-line is important" or whatever. It SOUNDS natural but it's so hollow and disconnected from your game. Also, there are prolonged periods (like 20 seconds) where Collinsworth won't say anything. He'll miss entire plays. The commentators will even not notice if you've kicked a dramatic OT winning field goal. They will simply say "The kick is up and good. And that's the end of our game." They then send you to John Madden to literally say "Well that was close! Thanks for joining us!"This kind of commentary does not belong in a next gen game with 20 years of experience.

(B) The backtrack feature, where Collinsworth uses a telestrator to point out play problems, is a bit broken. Sometimes on the PS3 it simply does not work (Collinsworth says nothing). Other times, he will recommend you do something worse than you did [e.g. throw into quadruple coverage instead of double coverage??]. However, usually, he's spot on. The most common backtracks will involve showing a defensive mismatch (e.g. playing the run when the offense is in passing formation) or showing a mistake by the QB in the event of sack or interception (involves pointing out an open receiver that should have been thrown to). I wish he could do more, but generally most backtracks will involve one of these two things. Still very cool.

Gameplay:

(A)Glaring issues: Why exactly do play actions still not work against the PC? Why are QB sneaks still money yards? Why is bootlegging so effective? Why are slant patterns so effective? Playing against another human makes most of these non issues and is a lot more fun.

(B) At least tackling is more fluid. Fewer canned animations. More freedom.

(C)Replay challenges are broken. Sometimes you cannot challenge plays. Sometimes the booth or you will review something, clearly it will be incomplete, but they will rule it a catch. It is remarkable, considering NFL 2k5 did this right three years ago on a smaller budget with less than 20 years of experience.

(D) No changes to superstar or franchise. $60 gets you new grass but no improvement to these critical modes?

(E) The much vaunted game that adapts to you is fundamentally a bad idea. People don't play games so that all their games are always close and hard to win. This is why Oblivion failed -the player loses incentive to get better if all it does is make the AI cheat more to counter him.

Problem #1 Madden test is broken. Pass defense drill is much harder than the others, which are very very easy.

Problem #2 you can't use sliders to adjust the difficulty with it. Big problem for those who like to customize the difficulty.

Problem #3 the game just cheats to 'adapt.' If you pass well, expect your wide outs to just drop balls for no reason. If you run well, expect your all star back to suddenly fumble a ton. It's not a feature, it's a problem, and it's comical that EA is advertising it as a big improvement.

(F) Online leagues are not good. It's more like an online round robin, not organized well at all. And there's even some lag to boot.

(G) Madden moments lets you relive key moments from last season...with 2008-2009 rosters and no special presentation. Snore.

(H) In multiplayer, on the couch, when you're trash talking and having fun, you can still have a really, really good time. But then again, you can do that with Madden 08. Or 07. Or 06. Or 05. I'd say pass on this one unless you're gunning for multiplayer, in which case you'll enjoy it -but realize this is nowhere near as good as it should be.

Buy Madden NFL 09 Now

I wrote a review of Madden 08 on here last year so I'd thought I'd follow it up with a review of this years edition. Or should I say Madden 2000.9?

Now before you pass this off as a Madden-bashing review let me give you my qualifications. I bought every version of Madden from the Genesis all the way to Madden 05 on the PS2 (which I happen to believe is still the best version of Madden ever made) and then Madden 08 last year on the PS3. I have been a Madden fan since the first day I could get my hands on a three button Genesis controller and threw a pass to an open receiver in the window based passing back then.

So first lets start off with some nitpicking and EA's famous saying, "If it's in the game, it's in the game."

Here is what is not in the game:

*Once again, EA bought up the ESPN license a few years ago and they have yet to implement any ESPN presentation into the game like 2KSports did so well before EA got the exclusive license. The absence of any ESPN presentation in EA's flagship game certainly solidifies that EA's agreement with ESPN was an anti-competitive move.

*No on-field referees or chain gang on the sidelines. Two staples of football once again ommitted from the game. Sure they added unnecessary security guards and even more players and non-player personell on the sidelines, but the most important staples of the game are not there, even though they were there in versions prior to the current gen systems.

*Instant Replay challenges of sideline catches are still ridiculous. Every year whenever I challenge a sideline catch and a receiver has one foot clearly out, the call goes against me.

*Sideline animations Yes there is a two feet in animation when you throw to a receiver near the sideline but if a WR's route takes him towards the sideline and you throw towards that receiver his animation more often than not will take him out of bounds and result in an incompletion. Unacceptable.

*Clock stopping on defensive penalties within 2 minutes of the half or 5 minutes at the end of game. I drove to my opponents 20 yard line with 20 seconds left, got an encroachment call on the defense, accepted the penalty and figuring the clock was stopped, I took my time selecting the next play, only to have the clock run out as I broke the huddle. Unless there is some new NFL rule regarding clock stoppage, this is a severe oversight.

*Stable playing surface. Where did EA get the playing surface model from? The old Veterans stadium? When viewing replays from the game, you can clearly see players feet sink below the playing surface on a dry gameday.

*NFL ice-capades. This is definitely still in the game, even with today's precision controllers. If you jump just a little with a DE pre-snap without encroaching, good luck getting him back even close to his original starting point. This is frustrating to say the least.

This so far might sound like petty griping but here is the thing, this Madden franchise has been around for 20 years now, it is the #1 selling football game and the only game on the market. These little details should have been long since addressed, yet they continue to resurface with every version of Madden.

EA is great at repackaging Madden every year with a new gimmick to make it look fresh. Anyone remember QB vision a few years ago? This year Madden IQ is the latest and greatest invention. What this IQ system does is evaluate your skill level and adjust the AI sliders accordingly to tailor the game for your set skill level. However this system completely replaces all the specific AI sliders that were available to players to adjust freely. There are some very general sliders that can still be adjusted but nothing like in years past.

I would be all for this IQ system if there was a way to turn it off and adjust multiple sliders to the specific way a player wants the game to run. Look, anyone who has played Madden for any extended amount of time knows exactly where they stand as far as skills in the game they don't need the game to tell them where they stand. Other human players will be sure to remind you of that.

What is the most irritating of this new system is you cannot adjust any sliders for an overcompensated AI. In the past I was able to tune down the AI QB accuracy and AI WR catching, especially when the AI's second string QB would complete 20 straight passes on me. The ability to adjust the sliders allowed for a more realistic simulation of the game.

Not anymore, unless you dumb down the generic sliders all the way, be prepared for the opposing AI QB to march down the field with Joe Montanaesque accuracy against every nickel and dime coverage you have in the playbook.

Now for the good:

The graphics are a nice improvement from last year. The stadium models are clean and the lighting effects are top notch. Though I think the player models seem a little more "stiff" from last year and it really often looks and feels like the players are running in mud compared to last year.

The branch animations have improved fairly well. Last year this feature was very impressive and this years crop of new animations improves on it. Well done!

The commentary is vastly improved. Gone is the radio announcer who I felt sounded like he was yelling into a tin can. And in his place is a new broadcast crew featuring Chris Collinsworth. As much as I despise Collinsworth on TV, he does an excellent job as color commentator in this years Madden.

The players models are properly proportioned for each postion.

There really is not a lot of good to report over last years version and that is unfortunately how little EA has went to inmprove the overall game experience. Madden 05 was the last year that EA truly innovated their game and brought a deeper experience to it's faithful fans. Is it any coincidence that was one the last years the 2K sports NFL game was around to push the EA team?

Next year, EA is going to have to show me something good in order for me to dole out any more money, paying for the same repackaged game. I've learned my lesson, 20 something years later....

Each year EA releases a new iteration of Madden, building on the previous year's game. I don't mind buying the game each year if the game is solid and a couple new features are added. Madden 09 is a great example of how a monopoly and lack of competition leads to mediocrity. Some key features are completely gone from the game. The accel clock option is gone, so ball control offense or realistic stats are only possible if you are willing to sit and do nothing for 20 seconds on each play. When playing on grass in the rain player uniforms get very dirty, but the field looks pristine throughout the game, though on replays the field deterioration is visible. Franchise mode has regressed, with player progression completely broken. Online play again suffers from critical glitches, from disconnects on last second field goals to a bug that allows a direct snap to the wide receiver, and automatic 5 yards on each play. Smaller problems include terrible camera angles in certain situations (on field goals the ball is often obscured by the scoreboard) and odd AI strategy. Although EA has eliminated some of the problems with last year's game, they have also introduced enough bugs and missing features to make Madden 09 a complete waste of time and money.

Want Madden NFL 09 Discount?

I didn't buy Madden 08, so i don't know what kind of 'progression' can be seen from the last incarnation. But, i was a diehard Madden player for years before 08. I bought 09 on day one. My first reaction was "WTF?"

I really don't understand this. If one had never played a Madden game before, this one might be a reasonable game. But, the designers have a terribly flawed scheme: They Make Changes Simply for the Sake of Making Changes. The design does not Evolve or Progress. It's just different each time, just so that they can market a 'new experience.' But, hey, here are the fundamentals of good design:

If something works, continue it. REFINE IT. Don't scrap it and do something different, and likely ILLOGICAL. There was a point when the menu systems and playcalling scheme were ideal. A few years ago. Things WORKED. In 09, they just don't make sense. Design is convoluted and arbitrary. SIMPLICITY, folks.

Secondarily, i was shocked to see the game animations and graphics. I have not made a direct comparison to any previous edition. But, what i see in 09 simply seems like the same or a step BACK from what i expected or what i was used to. I'm sure there are some technical advantages in the current game, and perhaps the detail and resolution is enhanced. But, the animations don't look more realistic. They seem more cartoonish. I expected an evolution toward realism, but 09 is a terrible disappointment in that respect.

I have a new 58" 1080p plasma, and i was expecting to be blown away by the game image quality when i started up 09. My previous gaming experience was on a 360 and PS2, on a OLD rear projection tv. But, 09 does not impress in any aesthetic criteria. Maybe i'm expecting too much? Seriously, on the day i first ran 09, i was wishing i could go back to Madden 07. THAT is a significant indictment of 09.

I was so looking forward to 09, as i had skipped last year due to the framerate and other issues. And, with the new hi-def tv, i thought i'd be in gaming heaven with 09. But, i am totally disappointed. I believe this has put me off the franchise entirely. I certainly will not ever buy a game sight-unseen, based only on its heritage. I should have taken some time and read the reviews.....
