Let me start by saying that this is the real deal. Especially if it's made by an electronic drum company who knows what good quality is. The drum kit itself is very sturdy and is 30 lbs mostly metal parts. Nothing is cheap on here for sure.

It's a good investment for only $200 dollars. Probably how much you're going to end up paying if you stick with the regular ones which will break

eventually.(yes I have 3. 2 of which are broken)I highly recommend this drum kit if you are an expert

Buy PS3 Audio Drum Rocker Core Rock Band 2 Drum Set without Cymbals Now

I bought this set to sort of celebrate the release of Rock Band 3 a week ago, but was disappointed in what I found. I hooked them up to play Rock Band 2 and was instantly underwhelmed at the response and sensitivity of the pads. My RB1 stock set with silencers is much more quiet and responsive, even when I re-calibrated. The pedal, as many know, is loud and clunky, also inferior to the steel plated RB 2 stock pedal. One big reason I wanted the Ions was to expand to double bass. I have a Destroyer pedal and was eager to hook it up, only to find that the jacks in the Ion module are NOT sized for headphone-like inputs. The ports on the module are probably twice as big plus there is no port for a double pedal. I come to find out I'd have to pay for the cost of a second roadie pedal along with a coupler if I wanted the double bass capability, and after sinking $200 into the set already, going a step further seemed rediculous. Yes, I realize there is a cap out there so you can plug the Destroyer into the Ion module, but it would still mean only one pedal at a time. Simply put, this did not live up to the hype and I just got back from the UPS where I shipped the set back to the vendor AMS, who were very nice and understanding and also were good on the initial shipping time, so I would at least recommend them. If you're a novice at the drums and have the money then by all means buy these, but any serious player worth their salt can get by just fine on a stock set, and I warn you to either save your money or buy some $2,000+ set of modded Roland v-drums or something like that.

This is about all there is without going BIG budget if you want to rock a little harder than the stock fake drums that go with Rockband. Overall I like it. Quieter than stock kit, more realistic. DON'T BUY ION cymbals, buy Pinntec cymbals. The Ions are crap, they are loud and the break and are just cheaply made. Don't expect much from the pedal either, it is cheap too, I bought a Rock Pedal. I am not impressed with the "brain" either... i have had 2 and when I use 3 cymbals the blue cymbal causes green hits occasionally which is obviously not good for maintaining a streak. But, what else ya gonna buy?

After we literally beat our original RockBand Drum set to pieces, I was pleased to find a more solid looking option. The box was reassuringly hefty on receipt.

Setup was pretty straightforward, although maybe a little more complex than most tweens are used to with about 20 pieces that need identifying, wiring and attaching.

The disappointment started when we set up our first song, the drums started working right away but failed with a connection error about 75% of the way through the song. This happened 3 more times...and when we started trouble shooting with a few different versions of Rock Band (2 and 3) even with a solo drummer...the same failures happened again.

On further investigation, there are numerous poor reviews of this product on line, so our experience is not unique.
