As someone who has purchased every THQ wrestling game for years, I had been eagerly anticipating this latest release. Unfortunately, after playing the game I was left with a feeling of disgust instead.

The game is full of bugs. In the 24/7 Mode which represents the game's season mode, more often than not the choices you make will be ignored. For example, at one point I was asked if I wished to relinquish the WWE title. I refused. However, the game reacted as if I had chosen the opposite and the story progressed as if I had indeed given up the belt. This glitch happened again and again, at numerous points in the game. I can't believe something like this made it past the play-testers.

Other bugs include the lack of pyro on customised entrances for created wrestlers. You can choose to have pyro as part of your entrance when you design it, but when you come out to wrestle it will simply fail to activate. Once again, I have no idea how something like this managed to make it into the game.

Even setting aside the bugs, 24/7 Mode is pretty lousy. The cut-scenes which open shows are often nonsensical in relation to what is meant to be happening in the story. For example, your character might merrily chat with a wrestler he is meant to be in a bitter feud with. At first glance the ability to plan out your wrestler's entire week rather than just playing the matches might seem like a fun concept. However, it quickly becomes tiresome (though players who liked the general manager mode in the previous games might like it better than I did).

The game is plagued with long loading times, which often enhances the frustration of 24/7 Mode. Even selecting one of the non-playable options such as attending an autograph signing (something which involves no animation of any kind a picture just appears on the screen, along with a message telling you how much popularity rating you gained) forces you to endure more loading time.

In general the new control system was acceptable. However, there does not appear to be any manual control to change your wrestler's focus when in a match against multiple opponents. In theory it happens automatically instead. However, in practical terms the automatic focussing is terrible, meaning that you often stay focussed on one wrestler when intending to attack another. This can lead to a lot of headaches, when you turn from a downed opponent to punch a standing one, but end up performing an elbow drop instead.

For some reason each wrestler now has fewer moves than in previous games in the series. I don't know why they would reduce your number of moves, but they did. Now if you initiate a strong grapple you have the option of 8 regular moves and 2 control moves, whereas in the last game you had 16 regular moves, and I believe 4 control moves. I thought next generation technology meant they could include more material in games, not less...

Flaws from the last game are still present. For example, in a 'last man standing' match the referee will only start his count if the downed wrestler will fail to get up unlike in 'Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain', where the ref would count anyway, and the wrestler might be able to get up in time to beat the count. This may seem like a small point, but to me it completely ruins the drama of the match if the ref only counts when you're going to win. Imagine if they did that for pinfalls. No more two counts just a win or no count at all. Surely near falls (or counts in the case of a 'last man standing' match) are an important part of a pro-wrestling match?

Some match types which were present earlier in the series (eg. the slobberknocker, and 3 vs. 3 tables and 'hell in a cell' matches) are no longer available. Once again, I don't see the logic in removing options when improving technology should instead be providing the space for more options. If you try playing as a diva the situation is even worse. Whereas back in 'Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth' they could play any kind of match, now they are severely limited in what they can do.

The commentary is on the whole extremely weak. Most of the time JBL sounds like he was idly reading from the sheet when they recorded it, without even really paying attention to what he was saying. Much of the dialogue is taken directly from the last game, and it quickly becomes repetitive. They could have at least put in more play-by-play (eg. "DDT!", "Brutal powerslam!") to pad it out and make it seem a little less barren.

There's no option to import music on the PS3 version, like there is on the Xbox 360 version. I don't see why this should be the case. If anything it should be the other way around, since the PS3 has a hard disk as standard whereas the Xbox does not. So, if like me you were hoping to use 'King of Kings' as your entrance theme, or some other track which isn't in the game, you will be disappointed.

These are the problems which most immediately sprang to mind, though I'm sure there are many others which I have neglected to mention. THQ appear to have become lazy with this series. They know that fans will buy each year's title out of hope and habit, so they don't seem inclined to put much effort into game design anymore.

After eagerly anticipating the release of the first PS3 WWE title, and after owning the series for the past 5 years, the day finally came... and boy, was I disappointed.

The BAD: Loading, loading and more loading...Every action in the game requires load times. This gets very frustrating. Reduced movesetwith the redesigned controls, although quite a bit easier to use, about 50% of the move choices are gone. In prior games, you had approx 16 strong grapple holds, in 08, a mere 8. Targeting is a big issue as well. A new free-move run style is fun, but quite often leads you standing next to your opponant swigning in the air. There is no way to adjust this. there's a few other minor deletions from previous yearsas pointless as it was, I liked customizing the locker room, unlocking toys, statues, posters and memorabilia. All that is gone. The locker room now looks like a back-office store room with poor lighting and no ability to pan around. then there's the roster. Everyone knows it's horrible this year. What's worse is the inability to create missing stars; read on...

The UGLYCreate a Wrestler mode is TERRIBLE! This is a big part of the game as I looked forward to using my created wrestlers in various attires to compete online. However, once again, PS3 falls way-side to X Box as it's limited to 32 layers (again) while 360 has 64 (again!) Likewise, a lot of the logo's and designs are non-compatable with online play. In other words, short of using the basic pre-designed tattoos, if you try to be creative, you can't use this CAW online. And a personal gripe of minethey took out the "Rated R Superstar" logothat's an easy 4 layers to create each time manually. In 07 it was a 1 layer option. (Not that it could be used online anyway now, very disappointing.) 24/7 mode is cumbursom. Repetitive, load times and not very responsive. Storylines develope themselves regardless of your input.

The GOOD (yes, there's some...) graphics are much better, not quite what I'd hoped, but for the 1st time on a PS3, it's a huge improvement from 07. More weapons and hot spots. I'm still amazed by some of the new weapon movements, articulations and scene's. Give THQ credit for that improvement. The new fighting style controls are a welcomed adjustment. It allows each character to be more unique and has simplified the controls exponentially. No longer press R2, hold for an 1/8 of a second, tap triangle and move the right analog stick praying it works. The controls are much simpler and more effective, although that comes at the previously mentioned loss of move quantity. Online play is better than last year, PS3 users can now use CAWS online without getting disconnected (although, again, the CAW mode is seriously lacking.) One of the best features, (again, back to the CAW mode) is the addition of new hair styles. For those of us who use this mode, it's a Godsend to finally have long hair options for male wrestlers that look authentic.

All-in-all, it's an OK game. With the advanced technology of the PS3 it's a real shamw THQ didn't take advantage of it with it's first release. With 80 gigs of hard drive and 8 processors, it should load faster, and hold more content. Theres an abundant amout of material missing from previous years, this version seems stripped down, almost like a demo. Next year, perhaps THQ will listen more to it's gaming fans, in the mean time, I'm gonna check of Midway's TNA wrestling game... perhaps that'll pick up where THQ left off!

I have to say that with this years installment of the WWE Smackdown series I am kind of disappointed as it displays a true step back in the progression of the overall series. Here are a few pro's and con's about the game that I think anyone should consider before buying the game.

Pro: They have overhauled the control system and fighting styles, for example if you're a high flyer like Rey Mysterio you can pull off some of his very spectacular moves with just a one button push simplifying it so anyone can play it like a pro. The hardcore fighting style also gives you an extensive controlling system when pulling off weapon offense, for example if you are a hardcore wrestler you can have a chair and do the classic pillmanizing move of placing an opponents ankle within the chair and stomping on it in an attempt to break your opponents ankle. Flaming tables have also made their debut and this is truly the best looking thing about it as when you're playing an ECW extreme rules match you can recreate some classic moments.

Con: The roster is very very disappointing this year with the exclusion of the former tag team champs London and Kendrick or Kevin Thorn to make room for lackluster diva's that let's be honest nobody will play as. This is always a major criticism I have every year with the WWE games as there are always big stars that you would naturally expect to be in but aren't. If you don't include DX which aren't playable from the very start you only actually have 1 tag team in Cryme Tyme which as I'm sure you can imagine if pretty stupid when you have 2 separate tag team championships.

Pro: The Legends roster. Where THQ let you down with the main roster they make it up to you with the legends roster as every year they take votes from fans as to which legends they would love to see in future games and this year shows that they haven't ignored the fans. Focusing a lot on ECW they have Foley, Terry Funk & Sabu as ECW legends (Rightly so). Then we have the returning Rock, Austin, Shane O Mac, Piper & Bret Hart and 2 new additions with "Ravishing" Rick Rude and the Returning Mr. McMahon.

Con: WWE 24/7 Mode. This is honestly a big disappointment for the game. THQ promised us a brand new mode that combined Season Mode and GM Mode, they also promised us it would be brilliant and exciting but all we got was repetition and boredom. There are however new additions to the mode that make it sort of interesting, they give you the option on your days off to do things like rest yourself up after a hard days work or do some promotional work like a press conference or commercials. You also have the option to star in a movie for a day (Honestly how many movies do you know that are filmed in a day?) Doing such things like resting yourself up to lower your fatigue however seriously damage your popularity, so to balance the both are extremely difficult.

All in all it is a good, entertaining game that is worth at least a purchase and a few rounds on your PS3. I haven't had much go of the online mode yet but the ranking system seems pretty easy to understand and simplistic so honestly get it and decide for yourself whether you want to keep it or not.

I have not had a wrestling game since the playstation, and I figured i may as well get an updated version, and the price was right. This was on clearance new for a really low price, I figured what a steal. I was wrong. There is a reason for the lower price.

Good: The graphics are great, characters real, good introduction to the ring.

Bad: Playability for a weekend gamer like is poor, combersome trying to get the right button or joystick to get a move off, not a quick learning curve. what happen to the days of the buttons doing all the punching and kicking, and the arrows doing the moving. not so much anymore. Secondly, the voiceover during the matches repeats quite a bit, and gets annoying . Finally the load time. A few of my matches were shorter than the actual load time for enterance sequences and post match shows.

Overall, if you get this at a discount, the above reasons, and for many of the other bugs that other gamers note. However, I am still pleased with the updates in gaming since I last had a game. Worth a look at, and for serious gamers, rent it before you buy it to make sure it's worth it to own.

A lot negative comments about this game it is a game not a popularity contest any game will always has it flaws I have different opinion about this game this game when it came out it was going in the right direction the game play is good there is some glitches but any game has that 24/7 mode in the game is good you get to live and feel like what a WWE superstar endures in yearly basis and what path you take effects you in the game I am not going to give any more details just remember it features ecw superstars and if you want to know more than you will have to buy it and see it for yourself

Although the Demo for the PS3 version of this game on PSN is rated poorly, and makes the game look terrible, it's actually an enjoyable game. You see, the Demo is placed smack dab in the middle of the game, where the difficulty is far too advanced for someone just starting the game. So that's why the Demo is no fun.

Anyway, as a fan of the Book Series, I instantly got this game. The game doesn't let you choose the name of your owl, -sadly-, but you can choose one of four different species; Spotted, Barn, Horned, or Great Grey owl. Spotted owl is the fast and weak one, Barn Owl is overall good in everything, Horned basically is terrible in everything and is worst one to pick, and Great Gray is slow, but it's the strongest. In the end I recommend choosing Barn Owl or Great Grey on your first try and then, if you want a Gold Trophy, beat the game with the rest of the owls as well.

The game doesn't really get old. Although it's short, the missions have variety, and you're never doing the same thing twice. The Bonus Mission in each Stage is basically just a Free Play, where you can roam around Tyto or Kuneer and such, and pick from extra missions.

I'm already in the last world, and I got the game about 5 days ago. I spent a large ammount of time collecting trophies, and if I didn't, I'd be done with the game by now.

So all in all it's a great game, and pretty easy to get Gold Medals and to beat the game. Although the story is kind of boring and most of the gameplay mechanics won't make much sense to younger players, it's a realy great game.

Oh, also, there are a few minor glitches, but they are always fixed in about 5 seconds so there shouldn't be a problem.

The game is $50 and it's only about 5 1/2 hours long, INCLUDING collecting all the trophies, so the price is kind of jumping the bucket. Perhaps renting the game and beating it would be better.

I got this game for Christmas, and I think it's lots of fun. The flying has a realistic look and feel to it and the controls aren't too complicated. The missions are fairly easy, but not too easy. This game is good for when you want to play a game that isn't too action packed, but isn't a complete bore either. You can unlock and buy new armor and unlock bonus missions and attack moves.

The only thing I don't particularly care for are the cut scenes. They seem like they are a lower quality than the rest of the game. It's not a huge issue though.

This game had me worried at first... there are a couple glitches and bugs here and there but nothing game breaking. I was terribly bored/ afraid the first part of the game but that is only because it has a slow beginning and takes awhile to get into... as soon as you start to play as Connor who is the main character in the game which i believe is the fourth sequence thats when the game starts to pick up and adds in all the new features which include hunting, free running through trees and the ability to have a bow and a tomahawk. All of these new features make the game way better and a blast to play, if you are not enjoying this game at the beginning i beg you to at least play until you beat a mission or two as Connor!

This game isnt perfect it has its flaws with the AI being stupid at times and horses being hard to control sometimes but the game offers so much new elements as well as the now polished old elements which made previous games amazingly fun! The graphics are amazing except for certain things like bushes/leaves or shadows are kinda blurry/not that detailed but those are such minor details that it shouldn't be judged to harshly...

I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the series! If you are a newcomer to the series i recommend getting and playing the first two games at the very least.

I was immensely looking forward to this game, but now that I've played through it, I'm disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game, but it really didn't have that extra specialness that kept me addicted to the Ezio games. The humor that was so apparent with Ezio is no where to be found with Connor and the overall storyline was boring to me. I also really missed the economy aspects that were ever so present in the Ezio games. While there is a bit of that in this game, it's not nearly as compelling, though I did enjoy hunting (and I'm no hunter!). Maybe this isn't a fair criticism, but I also loved the exotic travel part of the AC series and as someone who lives on the East Coast of the US, I never got that extra special flair with this game. In general, this is a decent game, but didn't live up to my expectations for the franchise.

Assassins Creed has had an amazing run. The story and development has always been top notch. I've bought all the games and played them all again just before buying this one. This one was a let down. It is very different from the other games. You might like it if you approached as a new game and not part of the series because there is definitely some disjoint going on.

Don't let the 1 star reviews fool you (They aren't even reviews of the game, rather, they are reviews of Amazon's service. Rookies)

The beginning is slow, but completely necessary to build the foundation of what turns out to be an amazingly well written storyline.

Once you become Connor and start receiving your assassin training, by sequence 4 you will be having the time of your life killing red coats, raiding forts, jumping from tree to tree.

It just doesn't get any better than this game. Period.

I pre-ordered this as soon as it was available. SO WORTH THE WAIT! The best out of the series so far. I love the new features and side missions like the naval battles. The only thing I hate is waiting another year to play the next one! I can't wait to see where the games go next.

This is a great game, but i have a few things i want to cry about. My biggest issue is the turntable. Its too small. I tried first to play with the default settings, that place the buttons on the left close to the fader, and within minutes my wrist was killing me. Luckily you can change this so the buttons are on the outside. But the biggest problem for me is trying to scratch with the blue button, its so close to the middle of the turntable im moving the whole unit. I was using the stand that came with the Renegade Edition, wich is actually pretty nice and sturdy, then i tried it on my lap and then on an ottoman with pretty much the same results. Its not so bad i wont play, but it can be frustrating. I hope they come out with a bigger one, say 10" compared to the 7" or 8" this one seems to be. So, other then that, I'm really enjoying this game. The tutorial with Grand Master Flash was a great way to get a feel for what level i wanted to start playing at. (im sticking to medium for now) Tons of stuff to unlock, you can customize what samples you want (to an extent) and the music is just awsome. There aro so many great mixes on here its silly. My favorite so far is Bel Biv Devoes Poison, and Cameos Word Up. The carrying case is well made and as i said before is pretty sturdy when converted into the stand. It holds the game the turntable and the legs for the stand. The Jay-Z and Eminem cd has some good songs on it. Was it worth the extra 70 bux? As of right now... yes. As with most limited edition things i buy, ask me in a few months and my answer might change =) but it always seems like the thing to do at the time right? There are 5 levels of difficulty and anyone can play this game. Beginner mode a 5 year old can do while on expert i personally need an extra hand, (stupid fade spikes) Im not sure if this will have the following that guitar hero has but if you ever wanted to be a dj but never got around to it, this is a game i think you will enjoy.

The DJ Hero Renegade Edition is worth the extra money. The unit it self looks awsome and is better looking then the regular unit. The case, stand, and Jay-Z/Eminem cd is good to. DJ Hero game is fun to play and easy to learn on any level. The song selection is great from all your favorite DJ's. The case is sturdy and will protect your investment. The stand that is basicaly the case turned into a stand after you add the legs is pretty sturdy as well, none of that plastic crap. The stand can be ajusted for any hieight, I'm 6' 4" and it works for me when I am standing. The only problem I had, was one of the legs for the stand would not adjust. Overall DJ Hero is as close as you will get to working the real one's and two's without having to spend thousands of dollars.

Very fun game. The soundtrack features many 70's and 80's rock songs mixed with newer tracks. They are all original mixes done for this game specifically. For example Queen "another one bites the dust" mixed with daft punk "da funk" and Gorillaz "feel good inc" mixed with Blondie "atomic". Things I would never have thought of but they work well in this game. If you've ever played around on real turntables (my old roommate was a techno DJ) or think you might like it, you should at least give it a try at a store demo. As far as the renegade edition, it comes with a case that doubles as a DJ stand with adjustable legs. It's worth the money to have the controller at the right height. Especially if you're an older gamer such as myself. A sore neck or back can result otherwise. As far as the bonus cd's.. I haven't listened to them yet. I finished UC2 and am waiting for MW2. This will keep me busy in the meantime. peace out.

Love the game, it is really a blast. The ease of swap for left-handed users is great too. It was somewhat disappointing the find that this special edition only included two extra audio cd and doesn't offer any gameplay content. Also I felt the crossfader on the DJ table was a bit cheap feeling. One cool thing about the game is the ability to add a PS3 guitar to play along!

Want PS3 DJ Hero Renegade Edition Featuring Jay-Z and Eminem Discount?

I was surprised how much I enjoyed DJ hero. The renegade edition's stand is a very nice add-on that makes playing more comfortable. The turn table is a high quality accessory that I can't imagine breaking unless you're simply clumsy or rough with stuff.

The Only complaint I have deals with the fade switch. In songs you have to fade the tracks in and out using a shifting switch on the left side of the turn table. This works fine except that when you're playing a song you don't have time to look down so your left hand is set on that switch waiting to shift it left, right, or middle. Middle is the default position but without looking it is hard to figure out where the middle is and you'll often break perfect streaks due to pushing the fade switch just a little over the middle section. There is a slight 'bump' you can feel when you're over the middle but it's not significant and if you're playing a faster song it's super easy to miss. I simply wish they would have made a more defined way to move the switch around. Considering there are only 3 spots it can sit there was almost no reason to make a free sliding switch.

Positives

-Story continues exactly where WKC left off and it's a trilogy, 3rd one is on the way.

-Improvements on Graphic and voice acting

-More skills for all weapons

-A LOT more weapons and armors since max level is now 80.

-No more X button harass when searching for Ores/bugs/flowers etc. It gives you all the materials at once

-More GR quests and new Monster Bounty quests(these can be harder than final boss)

-Customize Knight for your avatar

-Data import from the 1st one is impressive. Includes all the mats, weapons, armors and georama layout

-Online mode! now up to 6 people in a party with Knight transformation

-Better AI for your companions

-Better AC,MP balance for your skills and combos

-Plenty of challenges towards the end of the game and after you've beaten the story mode. New game+ and you unlock a castle to test your strategy/skills.

Negatives

-Story mode environment. You get 1 more new town and 2 new initial & final dungeon but everything else is the same. You basically play through the towns & dungeons that you've already beaten on 1st one all over again. This was a huge let down.

-Errands(resident quests These suck, the reward is very good. Mostly, you just go around the world map and talk to different NPCs over and over again, nothing else. Just spend time running for 1hour to complete a few of them. Boring and annoying.

-No online mode for Bounty hunt and Otherworld(to get your avatar knight's equipment) I got excited to pull off something like capcom's Monster hunter online, but found out that it's offline only.

-Same towns and dungeons mean same monsters and same soundtrack...seriously.

I managed to beat the story mode without getting too boring because of new weapons, skills with more level ups and some cool cut scenes. But overall, it felt more like online grinding than an epic story mode.

I clocked in 270hours for the 1st one. Currently grinding and playing I'm at about 60+ hours on this one. There are plenty to do and plenty challenges. Nevertheless WKC saga is still among my favorite PS3 RPG with Demon souls. I give this one 4/5 for more improvements than negatives. Could have been 5/5 if they weren't so lazy to create more maps and dungeons and new monsters. Because it lacks those, Story mode feels like WKC1 with a good patch to fix bugs and better interface. But I know that online is a kick ass time with a friend or two... especially for being free.(no monthly fee)

I was a big fan of the original game when it came to the US last year and had been looking forwards to White Knight Chronicles II for a long time now.

Then, about two weeks before it came out, my PS3 died and I lost ALL of my game save files.

So, I was disheartened, and went to purchase a copy of the original again. Until the fellow selling it to me told me that White Knight Chronicles II actually came with a complete copy of the first game, remastered to the new graphics levels.

I was astounded to say the least.

So I brought it home and tore it open and started a new game of White Knight Chronicles I and let me tell you, the graphical difference is amazing. The texturing and shadows are far deeper and more detailed. The characters are more detailed and animated.

I have yet to get through even the first few missions of the first game, but had to post a review so that people know just how much effort the publishers put into this.

The game is amazing, pure and simple. I love the combat system, the graphics it is one of the VERY few old school RPG games to have come to the high definition systems. If you're a RPG fan who is on the fence on this one trust me, get it. It is well worth it and you can invest hundreds of hours, or just enough time to get through the plot.

It has something for everyone.

I really love RPGs, and there aren't enough of them on the PS3. WKC I/II both attempt to address that shortfall, but still leave me feeling unfulfilled. Don't misunderstand; I want to like the WKC titles. I really do. And I would, if it wasn't for the battle system. What's wrong with it? It is built in such a way that discourages the player from using all his available power during a battle. Think about it: If you are battling a group of monsters or even just one monster, you don't want to have to wait for another "Action Chip" to become available to you before you can unleash a powerful hit. Or, having finished a gnarly battle, you press onward to find yourself suddenly attacked by the level boss, requiring Leonard to fight. Leonard, having only 2 Action Chips, cannot transform into the White Knight. Yet, without the White Knight, there is no way to beat the boss and the party is defeated one member after another. Should Leonard actually survive long enough to earn the AC's needed to transform, by that point, his mana is certain to be running low, so the White Knight likely will vanish after a single attack, leaving Leonard and his party high and dry.

If the game didn't have the Action Chip mechanism, which doesn't do anything but slow down and hinder the party, it would be a great game worthy of more stars. I wish I could give it more.

White Knight Chronicles II has so far been an engrossing experience for me. I'm a big fan of Level-5 RPG games such as Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King and Dark Cloud -a big inspiration of this game. As a matter of fact, I was glad to see alot of Dark Cloud elements in this game. Sadly, they leave alot of the better elements.

One thing I'll get out of the way first though, is that WKC2 is a lot like FFXII. A fairly large and adventurous world map, pseudo-MMO feeling, and even a filler character (ironically, the character you create), leave this game feeling alot like Square's title in it's flagship series. As such, it carries alot of it's stigmas, and adds a bit more. For one, the story isn't that very well developed. Many people complain the story starts off in an odd position in the story, which just sounds like spiteful idiocy on their part. The game comes with both WKC1 and 2, therefore there should be no reason for someone to blame the developers for them not playing through the first game first. But the story overall feels cliched to death. The main objective is to save the princess, and our main character, one of the heroes, has fallen in love with her after...looking at her once? He even goes so far as to put his life in danger to protect her, while his childhood friend is lost (with you, thankfully). This alone was enough to show me that this story wasn't going to make as much sense as I hoped it would. Still, the story is fairly ok, leaves few plotholes, and the accompanying voice-acting is surprisingly well done.

On to the gameplay. The first game's slow and tedious combat system was revamped using the second game's system, making for a fuller, faster system overall. Just like FF12, it features an ATB gauge that fills before your character can act. A good design decision was not locking the skills. Unlike many RPGs, you don't have to be a White Mage to use Heal, or be a Barbarian to use an Axe. You can unlock the use of anything as long as you have the skill points to unlock it, again, a really good decision reminiscent of one of the better parts of FF12. The skills you unlock are set to a bar of 7 empty slots for you to use to command. There are 3 rows, and each can contain any skill you want, and you can use it as long as you have the required weapon equipped. The downside of this system is that it does not allow you to change what character you are using on the fly. You have to open the main menu, select the character submenu, and choose which character you want to switch to -all in real-time. This could have been better designed. Another disappointing but glaring fault is the rehashing of maps and monsters. WKC2 only introduces about 2 new areas and a few new monsters with those areas, which was just pure laziness on the dev's part.

Another part, which I'll step away of detailing in favor of time, is that only the second game offers a full online experience, but this game isn't online-based. Although the online is a big part of the game and adds alot of fun, I see it as just half of an already great game. It's sort of like a Monster Hunter game that has Monster Hunter 2, 3 and Frontier -2 and 3 are already great experiences and Frontier is a whole new experience. That said, the online in this game is fairly well designed and even has a similar style to GeoRama from Dark Cloud, so fans of that and MMO questing will love the online in this game.

The music is superb, especially during boss fights adding to the subtle level of epic in journeying across wide open fields or a great divide in the earth. That brings to me to the stunning visuals. It is a MUST to play this game using the HDMI output. The graphics are absolutely breathtaking with overworld models having textures as good as Uncharted 3. No exaggeration there, hands down beautiful scenery with a soundtrack to match, unfortunately also rehashed in WKC2, so not much new sounds to hear or sights to see.

There is alot more I could say, but much has already been said by other critical reviewers already. Overall, if you're a fan of RPG games and can deal with a few cliche'd characters in favor of a 200+ hour adventure spanning 2 (soon to be 3) games, with a creative battle system and breathtaking scenery, and isn't afraid of the daunting scope of this game, then it is definitely worth the price. (I got it for 11 bucks) You'll be shelling out 20 bucks on a great and beautiful homage to retro JRPG's, with quirky characters and a cringe worthy story, but you'll be enjoying it. If JRPG's aren't in your boat, then this game isn't for you.

Want White Knight Chronicles II Discount?

While White Knight Chronicles 2 is a fun game, it has its flaws. Such as setting level caps before the final (non-Japanese) level cap of 80, forcing players to run through already explored areas just to pad the game time, and a steep learning curve.

Most of those flaws are forgivable.

Re-exploring areas? It's a good time to level up on the new enemies with higher levels.

The steep learning curve? Expectable for a Japanese RPG.

But what is NOT, and I repeat NOT, acceptable is D3 Publishers and Level 5 saying "eff you" to the rest of the world by focusing only on the Japanese gamers.

Being a veteran from White Knight Chronicles 1, I knew how to deal with disappointments from Level 5, such as the lack of patches. Over the 3 years that the game was out, we only received a handfull of patches, while the Japanese recieved a metric ton of patches. But I was not prepared for D3 and Level 5 to completely abandoning the non-Japanese market.

Not only did White Knight Chronicles 2 only received 1 patch, the guild system being ignored by Level 5, the promised DLC being cancelled for its non-Japnese players, but its non-Japanese servers are being shut down on June 18, 2013.

The online multiplayer was KEY to get to the non-Japanese level cap of 80. (Yes, the Japanese also got a bigger level cap and Guild Rank cap while the rest of the world didn't.) You needed other people to help you get your Guild Rank up, a system that only levels up by completing quests quickly and efficiently, but the whole charm from the game was its online community. The game had its own forums--IN THE GAME. People could log on and talk with others in a contained online community, but as of 6/18/13, that online community will cease to exist.

Without the help of others, the game is slow going, completing the same quest numerous times in order to level up your Guild Rank ONCE just to get rid of the level 35 level cap. Leveling up your Guild Rank was hard enough online, but without the multiplayer to help you out, don't expect to get to the level cap of 80 anytime soon.

The bottom line is, White Knight Chronicles 2 is an online game, and, soon, its online capabilities will no longer exist, making the game just an empty shell of its former self.

If you aren't Japanese DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. You're only setting yourself up for disappointment.

I originally was not going to write this review since there was nothing remarkable (application went without a hitch, and it was sized correctly), but I have had this controller skin for over a year now and it is still in quite good condition. It makes cleaning the controller easier and also easier to identify if someone brings their stuff over or vice-versa. Personally I like the pattern on it but obviously that is a matter of preference.

Pros:

Lasts forever!

Easy to put on, sized correctly

Cons:

None so far

This PS3 controller fits perfectly into your hands, has built in grips, syncs very fast, has no lag at all, and looks even cooler up close than in the picture! I own both this and the classic Sony dual shock controller... and, in my opinion, this one is so much better.

Ok at first I thought these were awesome didn't come with the usb cable (no big deal) or much of any instructions how to sync. But common sense prevailed in just hooking up the unit to the PS3 with usb cable and powering on the PS3. Then turn on the controller and voila... synched.

After charging (which was unusually super fast) first use everything seemed excellent. Tested with Demon's Soul movement seemed a bit chunky but ok when in a safe area but after going into actual gameplay the lack of precision and some delay was obvious. The D pad, colored right, L/R 1 2 3 buttons are fine the precision in the joysticks is where the problems are somewhat obvious. At times they seemed fine but more likely your pan views (right joystick) would move at 20-30 degree chunks (not smooth at all) and in combat, this is bad... very bad. The left joystick the character would almost always jog and you had to REALLY try hard to barely move it in order to get the player to WALK. Buzzkill on the super high reviews. No way I'm playing Demon's soul or any shooter with this controller. I have to figure out if I'm returning these or just letting the kiddos use them so they don't kill my SONY PS3 controllers.

Build quality is great, I'd give 4 stars... playability is where it's really bad.

Tired of paying a fortune for controllers, I broke 3 different generics hoping one would actually work. Surprise all three work great.

Controller has a great feel with no dead spots. I like the size and feel better than the DualShock controllers. Battery life is great.

Synced with the PS3 quickly with no issues.

Also, when plugged into a PC, the controller worked with most of my games I had on Steam. I didn't try to pair it via bluetooth to my PC.

The only complaint I have is that I can't charge it using my controller charging cradle.

After watching all the cool videos EA has been putting out and getting caught up in the hype of this game, I shouldn't have been surprised when I actually played the game, it is part of the Need for Speed franchise, one that's never had accurate physics. But I thought maybe Shift 2 would be different. It was being billed as an amazing sim racer, so I was expecting something on Par with at least GT4. Here's what I hated about it:

1. The physics are horrible. Like previous reviewers have mentioned, it's like driving a boat on ice. The tires seem to have little to no grip, the cars understeer more than they should, and even in a straight line the cars just seem to twitch back and forth and want to run for the infield like a race horse with a full bladder. The cars seem to suffer from what I call the Weather-Vane Effect. Cars like in

2. All the cutscenes have this Formula D person I've never heard of "coaching" you through the game. He even talks to you during races telling you to "keep pushing!" and "you've almost got this!". It's kinda like TOCA from the PS2, but just more annoying.

3. The menus. When you press the start button on your controller, you'd expect to see a pause menu that'd let you adjust various aspects of the game or at the very least so and alter the controller layout. Not here. You can only change driving assists, HUD, and audio.

4. The graphics really are nothing to write home about. From the teaser video they put out (the same one they show at the beginning of the game), you'd expect a higher level of polish in the game. It does have a little more "atmosphere" than GT5, which always felt a little too clinical and weirdly lighted, but the detail of the cars and tracks is nowhere near GT5's level.

A couple of weird quirks I saw as I was playing. Once at the start of a race, I was going to fast into a corner and slammed into the tire barrier. The screen did this weird black and white thing, which I expected, but then it seemed to place my car behind the barrier and none of my controls worked. The only thing I could do was choose to restart the race and when I did, I kid you not, my car was facing the wrong way on the starting grid! Was this game even tested before release?

I don't know if all these problems could be fixed with a patch, but I'll never buy another EA "driving" game again day 1 without reading reviews first. Like a previous reviewer said, fool me once...

I was so frustrated by how poorly the cars handled with a steering wheel in Need For Speed Shift that despite how much I liked many of the game's features I had to stop using it. I've followed the development of Shift 2 Unleashed and listened to representatives talk about how much they've improved the handling in this game, one saying it was 200% better. Of course they would fix it; enough people complained about it. Well, I guess 200% better than terrible is still terrible.

I use a Fanatec GT2 wheel with Clubsport pedals. It works beautifully with Dirt 2 on the PS3 and Forza 3 on the Xbox. Gran Turismo 5 is a little loose in the center but tuning the wheel (something you can do with the Fanatec) can compensate pretty well. From these games my experience is that the cars respond 1-to-1 with input to the wheel. If in cockpit view, I see the movement of the hands of the driver mimic my hands. It's a beautiful synergy.

Shift 2 Unleashed on my PS3 allows me to relive the total frustration of Need For Speed Shift and it's not something I ever wanted to do again. People will undoubtedly say that I haven't adjusted the dead zone correctly or I've missed some sensitivity setting. Well, I've tried the recommendations of others online and spent hours tweaking both the in-game settings and my Fanatec's settings. I was NEVER able to eliminate the loose feel of the car. Perhaps with a game pad this is not an issue but with a wheel it most certainly is. I actually played Forza 3 again just to make sure I wasn't nuts. Control was perfect, as I remembered it.

I don't want to work this hard to try and make a game playable when there are others available that work correctly straight out of the box. As soon as Amazon offers a trade-in I'll be sending it in for whatever credit I can get. I didn't even bother to use the online code. Needless to say, I will never try another EA racing title. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

But I will say I really liked the concept of Autolog and would have enjoyed matching times with my PS3 friends. Oh well.

3/30/11 I must agree with other reviewers regarding the sense of being on ice. I was so focused on the poor handling that I didn't mention that earlier. It feels like you're racing on bald tires. The car slides around in turns and gives me no confidence in the level of control. Just another nail in the coffin, unfortunately.

3/31/11 OK, further adventures with Shift 2. First let me state clearly that if Amazon offered to refund my money I would send this game back in a heartbeat but, whereas that's not an option, I'm trying to get some value out of the game. I spent a couple hours with it last night and made some progress. Basically, by turning off all assists and doing some heavy tuning in the advanced controls screen and with my wheel I was able to get the cars drivable. But it requires a change in mindset. Rather than think I'm driving finely tuned race cars on paved courses, as in Forza 3, I have to think about driving cars on dirt courses, as in Dirt 2. Once I made that mental adjustment and drove as if I was on dirt I started to get a feel for the cars and courses. It's not what I wanted when I bought the game and it's a lot of physical work as I fight the wheel but it should let me get some hours in it and some value out of it.

Bizarre that the developers could produce a game like this and think it was a true simulation. All they had to do was compare it to Forza 3 to realize they had completely missed the boat.

Also strange that they couldn't even get the gameplay clock to work. After over two hours it said I had played 14 minutes. Even if the clock is for actual race time, I know I raced for more than 14 minutes.

For future reference, if the driving game is for a console and isn't from Codemasters, Polyphony Digital or Turn 10, I'd stay away from it. :-)

3/31/11 (evening) The final chapter in my tales of Shift 2. I spent another couple hours with it tonight, reaching what I felt was the best balance between game and wheel settings to approximate a passable driving sim. Driving a Ford Focus through the first tier events it wasn't perfect but I was managing. Then I entered some hot lap events where the game provided me cars to race. It was as if I had accomplished nothing with all my tuning. These cars were all over the track and I fought with each one trying to keep it on the pavement, even doing 50 mph on a high-speed track. I've heard some people say they adjust the tuning of the controls for each car but you've got to be kidding. Then I bought a Mitsubishi for a Class C race at Suzuka, a course I know well and enjoy racing. Mitsubishis are good handling cars that I've enjoyed driving in Dirt 2 and GT5 and it had a decent handling rating in Shift 2. Well, the car continually oscillated back and forth across the track while I struggled to keep it on the drive line. I didn't even finish the 2nd of 5 laps. I turned off the game, removed the disk from my PS3 and will trade it in as soon as I can. I'm done with it.

It is very possible that if you drive using a game pad there are no issues and perhaps even other wheels are fine but if you have a Fanatec GT2 then I warn you, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. Dirt 3 is coming in May and Forza 4 is coming this Fall. Save your money for them.

Back in March of this year, I was extremely excited to play Shift 2 and couldn't wait to pick it up on launch day. Reading the SpeedHunters' blog in which one of the creative directors regularly posted updates on the development of the game(Read them here: , you can see they put a lot of work in to making it as authentic as it could be.), made me even more excited then the launch of Gran Turismo 5! GT5 is still my favorite "driving" game but had many dissapointing shortcomings that Shift 2 would seem to fill.

Launch day came and I picked it up as soon as I was able and threw it in my PS3. Everything was as advertised except the dealbreaker: The input lag and forcefeed back of the wheel. I played it with the Logitech Driving Force GT, I searched all over the internet for that perfect wheel setting but never could find it. I gave it about a week and tried to like it, but it was just undrivable to me. It did so many other things right (which I will get into later) but ultimately gave up and traded it in, which I now completely regret doing.

I recently upgraded to a Fanated GT3 RS v2 wheel with ClubSport pedals. (It was a steal off of craigslist!) I love playing GT5 with this set up, but wanted to try a different game with it. Someone suggested I try Shift 2 again. I did not want to whatsoever. The game has all but been abandoned by EA and the developer has departed. But he insisted I need to give it a second chance. His reasons were that they had patched input lag, the Legends DLC was legendary (no pun, haha), and that I need to get into the mindset of tuning the cars rather than expecting them to drive perfectly right out of the box (as in GT5). So I picked up a used copy, (not giving EA more money) and gave it a go and to my surprise, the game has changed for the better! The input lag was greatly reduced, and the force feedback, whether it be my new wheel or the patch, feels so much better. With a little patience and knowledge of tuning, the cars handled better. It is now very enjoyable and giving GT5 a run for which game I play most now.

Onto the review portion. (I will be comparing it alot to GT5, thats really all I have to compare it too.)

I'll start with the bad:

-It is more of a sim than people give it credit for(not a bad thing, of course). For example, tire pressure, wear and temperature are all factored in. But on the longer (endurance races) there is no pitting, which is dissapointing given that pitting is a big part of racing in my mind. So dont wear out those tires!

-Most of the career races (except endurance races) are extremely short, only 2-3 laps which to me isn't much of a race. There is a quick race mode in which you can set laps, track, etc and can make longer races that way, but the career should have contained some longer ones.

-I liked the tutorials and videos that had real drivers, but got really annoyed with constant chatter coming from the drifter as you drive. Luckily, you can turn off that voice in the options.

-The learning curve. This is not GT5. The cars don't handle well out of the box at high speed. You have to be patient and learn the basics of tuning. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but probably turns away alot of people.

Things I thought that are good, but could have been handled better:

-The over-the-top race day flair littered on all the tracks. Look, this isnt a terrible thing. I wish GT5 had some of that race day feeling on all their tracks. (As beautifully rendered as they are in GT5, they are a bit bland and feel more like a random track day than a race day.) But Shift 2 is the complete opposite. Holy freaking billboards, flags, balloons, helicopters and product placement! I dont mind some of that, but it makes it look more like an arcade game than a sim that it is trying to be sold as. I do like that it has flag signals and a guy waving a checkered flag as you cross the finish. Something GT5 should have had...

-Engine sound. Don't get me wrong. The sound is great! Much better than GT5's sound. However, it is over the top on the stock production cars. The stock cars sound like race cars! Which is just not accurate. But on the tuned/race cars, it adds to the immersion.

-The AI is great for the most part. They race and are fast. Most of the time they do try and avoid you, I have run plenty off the road when trying to avoid me. On the other hand, they can be aggressive and ram you. I have taken some hits by the AI. Should have tuned the AI a bit to be more consistent. But still, much better than GT5's AI.

-You do have different times of day and night racing for ALL tracks. Another cool thing is sometimes there are random overcast days (no rain, though) which I read is supposed to affect the temperature of the assphault and in turn affects grip. Just wish they could have implemented a dynamic lighting system with day/night cycles, but I'm sure that is easier said than done.

-Visual customization. It is decent but not very intuitive. And why no number vinyls??? However, at least it has a livery editor so you can express yourself online. (ahem, Polyphony, take note please)

-Too many night races. Look, night races aren't a bad thing. In fact, they are exciting and dramatic in this game. I just think there are too many that take place at night. Honestly, how many real races are held at night?

-Don't know if i'm qualified to mention this as I have never driven on any of the tracks in the game, but some of the tracks may not be truly accurate to their real life counterpart. Some parts of the 'Ring feel wider than they were in GT5, for example. Not a big complaint, but noticable.

-Drifting is extremely hard.

Onto the good stuff. This game is extremely immersive and fun. Here is why:

-The car selection. Okay, so there are about 150 cars total. To many that seems to pale in comparison to GT5 and Forza 4. However, 90% of the cars are cars one would want to drive and eventually convert into an all out race car. Believe me, the selection is great and you won't find any Prius' either.

-On the subject of cars, they are not on GT5 premium models but are modeled great both inside and out. This game has the best cockpit view of any (console) game! Even has the reflection of the dashboard in the windshield. All gauges work and I personally enjoy the helmet cam. Another thing that adds to the immersion.

-The damage model is leaps and bounds above GT5. You do not want to crash in this game! It is realistic looking as well as handled realistically. It all depends on where you are hit. Unlike GT5, you will be worried about crashing!

-The number of real life tracks is phenominal. 'Nuf said.

-Legends pack is the best $10 I have ever spent. I could go on about the legends pack, but I am just going to say, get it!

-You know what? I could go on and on about the great things, but this review is getting long. This game set out to put the player in the seat of a real car and a real race and feel all the emotions a real race car driver would endure during a race. And it accomplishes just that. It is exciting, fun and honestly more realistic than what people want to give it credit for. This game is really more sim than arcade.

In closing, give the game a second chance. Go in with the mindset that you need to be patient and tune a car to your style and you will see why this game shines. I know I sounded like I was ripping on GT5, I am a huge GT fanboy, but I can be honest and say 5 fell short in many areas. Shift 2 fills the shortcomings that GT5 has. I still play both and don't have a problem going back and forth between the two. I highly recommend it.

I never write a review and never sell a game through Amazon until now! If you're a casual gamer you need to avoid this like the plaque. Like others have said, this game is near impossible to control. I was able to fine tune the car for the first few races...but then they force you to race in a car that you CANNOT fine tune, so good luck in trying to win any races because you'll be slipping and sliding all over the place. A steering wheel might help, but I doubt it. I honestly wanted to like this game and tried every suggestion online, but in the end, it's impossible for a casual gamer like myself.

Want Shift 2 - Unleashed (Limited) Discount?

Loved the first game. Tried to like this one but it just doesn't have the fun factor of the first. Handling seems a lot different (as someone put it "driving with bald tires on ice"), aggressive actions (which were encouraged and one of my favorite features of the first game)are frowned upon. I know they want to compete with the other sim games out there but the mix of arcade/sim from the first is gone and replaced with more emphasis on precision (which some will like better, just not me).

I'll give it another go tomorrow, but it looks like I'll be sticking with the first.

**Updated a few days later Tweaking the advanced steering and braking options helps a bit, but the game continues to frustrate. Don't even think of tapping or being tapped by an opponent or wall as this will result in you crashing and facing 180 degrees backwards (regardless of what you do during the spin). No way you'll get back in the race when this happens: Pause/Restart every time. This game is like walking on egg shells instead of being fun by taking chances and pushing the limits. Between focusing on not hitting anything (even a slight touch) and the mushy handling, this game is just not fun. Time to trade in. Too bad because I really was looking forward to it as the first Shift was my favorite racing game (not too arcade like Hot Pursuit/Split Second/etc and not to sim like GT5).

Remember Me is destined to be overlooked, which is unfortunate.

I'm about mid-way into the game, and it is a fantastic and hypnotic game, captivating me with it's beautiful and heavily detailed world. The setting is the first thing you'll notice; vivid, unconventional colors blot this world, and it is a feast for the eyes.

Combat works and plays out like Batman, but not quite as fluid. The ability to change up your combos makes for a refreshing experience each time. Enemies are can be quite tough in numbers--especially when they differ in types, forcing you to use different tactics for various enemies. Button mashing won't get you very far.

The platforming and exploration are the weakest links, as they are far too scripted. You never get a sense that you're in immediate danger from scaling walls. And exploration is so linear, so confined, which is a shame considering Neo-Paris is a major sight to behold.

Memory Remixes are the star of Remember Me, setting it apart from other action/adventure games. Basically, you can hack into peoples memories and alter things, changing the outcome of their behavior. It's fun to mess around and experiment. Not to mention, the memory remixes give great insight into Nilin's character; you really get a sense that she is conflicted with the ethics of what she is doing, which, in my opinion, makes her a very human character to whom we can relate.

The story... I won't elaborate about it. You really need to experience it for yourself because it will blow you away. Some of the writing is awful, though. But most of it works.

Overall, fantastic game. The story and lore are the strongest aspects. The game play is, for the most part, solid. Remember Me is a game you don't want to miss.

E3 2012, this game looked awesome. The trailers looked awesome, the story, the universe (theme, genre, world etc etc) is awesome, the main character is awesome... and yet...

This game wasn't really much like what E3 led me to believe. This game has such high reviews on Amazon, with a metacritic of 70 (at launch 59) I felt like it was a bit high for what the game offered.

Now, as far as themes go, I love this game. Cyberpunk world with a "ghost in the shell" feel to it in a neo-Paris? AWESOME! The main character is actually really good. Definetly not your typical main female protagonist, but not at all in a bad way. Story wise, besides all the unanswered questions, decent. I'm almost done with it, and the only reason why I continue to play is 1. the scenery and 2. the story

Now for the cons, plenty of positive rewiews that you can read besides mine.

This game physically makes my eyes hurt. Color scheme, artwork, no idea. (Deus Ex at times did, maybe it's that orange grey color scheme). I like it, but it hurts. I may be just one out of a million players that it happens.

This game is about playing a movie/story. It's linear, the free climb is scripted, and... the platforming is nothing complex. There really is no room to explore and for me, with such a great location, is a huge disappointment. You can't just climb some random wall, it's all specific to your path.

The combat isn't bad, you have combo setups that you can change up with different bonuses. It's neat, but... I've been running the same setup from the beginning with a few modifications throughout my playthrough. The special attacks are entertaining but nothing over the top.

The audio for this game is really good, with great voice acting. Sadly some of the lines makes you cringe or just roll your eyes wishing you can just skip it.

The game changer, or what makes this game unique is this special called remix. It's like a minigame where you mess with peoples memories to change an outcome of things. doing different things will give you different results, but to progress through the story, you have to complete the objective. Another disappointing thing about this is, the lack of it. The actual remix part is really fun and is interesting, but it doesn't feel like a huge part of the game, but i feel as if it should've been a huge part of the game from the story.

As far as the game goes overall. Not worth the retail price. I was disappointed with the lack of involvement I felt with the game. How scripted and stiff the game felt. Yes the game has an awesome theme, and yes the game has a decent plot, but as far as gameplay goes... it's not mind blowing. Maybe it's unfair because I just finished playing Tomb Raider. But seriously... the levels are short, there's no exploration, the game feels short, and your actions don't feel weighted as it's scripted.

Now as far as your character goes, she struggles philosophically, with her morals, and her vs the greater good. And if the action is evil, if it can be outweighed from the good it can come out of it. If anything I feel like I relate with the character more on the sense of helplessness and the fact that she feels like just some errand person without personal choices.

Conclusion.

There are a few high profile games coming out, I'd wait for those rather than picking this up. For the price, it's a bit of a disappointment, even with all the positive reviews.

If you need your future cyber genre type game fix now... yeah this will have to do, until Cyberpunk 2077 :D

On the store shelves, we've started to see an influx of lack of creativity. That is to say, most of the games today consist of grey-and-brown shooters with overtly patriotic plots, with the same cover-based gameplay and shoehorned multiplayer modes. While there are some shimmers of hope, there's no sign of these games slowing down. With this predicament, we have to latch onto these shimmers for truly unique and original experiences, and hope they can deliver. And now, much like this year's magnificent "Tomb Raider", Capcom delivers a game that truly breaks the mold. "Remember Me" isn't perfect, but if you care about video games as an art form, it demands your attention.

Over half a century from our present time, memories are treated as digital items to be bought, traded and stored, much like a movie or an eBook. But a group of revolutionaries known as Errorists are attempting to stop this practice by taking down Memorise, the corporation who has started to hold the world's memories in a monopolistic chokehold. They use the very tools they hate to gain access to top-secret information to topple the company, but their biggest asset is a woman named Nilin. Not only can she steal memories, but she can hack into people's brains and insert new ones, therefore altering their motivations and alignments. But Nilin has run into a bit of a problem: she was captured by the company, and almost all of her memories were wiped. Now she's on a quest to regain her memories and beliefs, while grappling with the moral ramifications of altering the very foundation of what makes people unique.

It's all very thought-provoking stuff, and done in a very impressive fashion. The whole narrative plays out like a blend of "Ghost in the Shell" and "Total Recall", while adding original elements to prevent it from being too familiar. Especially intriguing is the blend of philosophical banter and believable technobabble, which makes for a meaty plot with plenty to reflect on. What makes this so reflective is the relative believability of the concept; seeing how corporations today are bent on gathering personal information and storing it to profit from, the idea that actual memories could be used for that purpose is entirely feasible to a certain extent. Grappling with the ethicality of this practice is something that any writer would have an issue with, and while there are some ideas that could definitely be explored further here, what script does with the concept is commendable, and definitely deserves an "A" for effort, if not for execution.

What helps sell this concept is Nilin herself, who is without a doubt the finest female protagonist I've ever had the joy of playing as. Her introspective nature, coupled with her stoic build and unconventional looks, makes for a truly unique protagonist. This is not a character who panders to the lowest common denominator, or one is routinely othered because of her gender. She matches and outperforms the men in the game, as do the other female supports. Her arms are ripped with muscle, and her tongue is as sharp as her wit. That being said, she is vulnerable in the sense that she is struggling to understand who she is, or the validity of what she does. Nilin is a torn, yet powerful, protagonist, and helps elevate the game to narrative levels that I personally didn't know games were capable of ascending to. Lara Croft, Faith Connors and Bayonetta have undoubtedly been left in the dust by this memorable, lovable and deeply human character.

This ambitious narrative and wonderful protagonist, however, comes with a small hitch. The gameplay's scope is just as far-reaching as the plot, but unfortunately, it fails to deliver the same bite. What it excels in, it masters; in this case, it's the exhilarating platforming and the relative fluidity of Nilin's move set. The parkour-esque moves lend themselves well to exploration and maneuvering through combat situations. That being said, the combat itself feels a bit stilted. While being able to build your own combo trees (a la "God Hand") is fun, but being able to use those combos is deeply frustrating at times. You'll have to hit the buttons in perfect sequence with perfect timing in order to pull them off; this should be easy due to the fact that they're displayed at the bottom on the HUD, but you'll spend so much time looking at them that you'll lose sight of enemies surrounding you and get pummeled.

Adding to the frustration is combat is the only way to regain lost health. Building restoration combos in order to get back health is essential, because there are no med kits to speak of outside of occasional health refill terminals. This is a really ambitious idea, but the combat is too precise and finicky for it to truly work. Overall, it feels great to control Nilin when she's jumping across buildings or cartwheeling through the air, but things get a bit frustrating when it comes to fisticuffs. It's fun once you get the hang of it, but it takes a while to do that, and some players might not have the patience for something other than button-mashing.

The most unique gameplay element of "Remember Me" is, without a doubt, the Remixing feature. Nilin hacks into people's memories and alters them to suit her goals, and she does this through an odd little process that does just as many things right as it does wrong. Players move the analog stick forward or backwards to play through somebody's memories, and search for "glitches" that will change the course of the event. It's a fun novelty, and it's almost reminiscent of cult gem "Ghost Trick" in its ambition to find little details in order to change an outcome of any given situation. While the concept is nice, and it works well enough, it would have certainly been nice to have the rewind and fast-forward commands be less awkward. Having to rotate the stick gets annoying, especially when having to alternate speeds, then jam it in a certain direction to pause. Furthermore, having to find the exact sequence of glitches can be an arduous chore, even more so when considering that you have to erase glitches if you want rewind past them. It turns the entire experience into an extended cutscene of trial and error. Certainly, it's admirable that the developers made cutscenes with so many outcomes, but a bit more direction and streamlining of the process would have been nice.

From combat to movement to "remixing", the problem with the gameplay is that it's simply too ambitious for its own good. While it definitely has plenty of new and fresh ideas, some polishing of the more basic mechanics (combat, remixing) would have been much appreciated. This doesn't hamper my enjoyment of the game, really, but it definitely makes it a bit more of a challenging recommendation to everybody.

What certainly saves players from constant frustration are the incredibly lush aesthetics of the game. Environments are teeming with life, bleeding vibrant colors and filled to the brim with creative paths that Nilin is led down. Everything in this game is positively beautiful to look at, and during platforming sequences, every single thing in the world seems to be moving and changing at times. What helps make it more visually appealing is the sheer variety at play. French architecture, modern houses, futuristic skyscrapers... this game truly offers the most beautiful vision of the future in a game since "Binary Domain", with plenty of variety and a vast array of beautiful colors. Special note should be made of the "advertisements" that hover in the air around Nilin, a part of her permanent memory augmentation from what I was able to gather. Character models are also wonderful, with little clothing and facial details lovingly added to even the most minor characters. When it comes to visuals, from creativity to color to variety, this game packs a one-two punch.

To tie it all together, we have one of the most brilliant musical scores in recent years. The beautiful symphonic arrangement, spliced with pounding techno during battle sequences, conveys a sense of wonder and whimsy that parallels the works of music maestros such as John Williams or Hans Zimmer. It's an amazing score, and one that even non-gamers ought to listen to, simply for the sake of listening to some great music. Adding on top of it all is the great voice acting, which is consistently good across the board. While there are some issues (some characters sound a bit too archetypal for my tastes), the major players have seriously great actors, with Nilin having a strong and assertive voice that displays traces of uncertainty, and the villainous Doctor Quaid coming across as a neurotic yet powerful sociopath. Powerful performances atop a great score makes for an all-around pleasant auditory experience.

Developer Dontnod was aiming for something truly different with their debut, and they've certainly achieved it. While it has some issues that could have been worked out, the sheer scope and ambition of this project is truly admirable, and I do hope that Capcom holds onto this very talented and creative team. "Remember Me" is definitely not a perfect game, but like many games that hold this distinction, it has hacked its way into my heart and become one of my favorites of recent years.

New entries in the "Call of Duty" and "Battlefield" series will come and go, but "Remember Me" will stand tall as a truly unique and fresh experience that is quite unlike anything I've played before.

I'll start with the amazing things about this game. First, and most noticeable, are the graphics. Absolutely stunning. This is exactly what you would expect to see on a next gen console that is on its way out the door (presumably later this year). The lighting is superb and even plays a pivotal role in several fights later in the game. You can tell that this game is a labor of love for the developers here, because detail is everywhere.

When movies first came out there were no extras, or at least very few. Then some director, probably someone like Howard Hughes, decided to add extras. Doing so added a sense of realism and attachment to not only the scenery, but also the scene taking place. In the game, there are robots everywhere, cleaning this and that, and there are signs that pop up as you get near them even telling you what's on special in that restaurant that day! There is stuff on the ground, blowing around, hanging, and I could go on, but I'll not bore you. While this may seem like typical stuff common to games these days, the sheer level of detail in trivial things like this is enough to gawk at.

Also, the over-arching premise of the game is pretty cool too. According to the game, in the not too distant future, memories and experiences, essentially, will be recorded on a huge mainframe somewhere. Thus, memories become digitized. The developers show how this could be used recreationaly (a guy buys a first kiss memory, and a "drugie" talks about "just wanting to remember something happy, man" to a dealer) and how this sort of digitization can be abused by the powers that be. This is where the story comes in.

While I'm not going to give a synopsis of the story (that's what playing the game is for), I will say that at 43% completed it feels predictable. The guy that helped you out may not be such a great guy after all and your character, Nilin (yes, she's a girl, deal with it. She could kick my butt!), is feeling not so trusting of his motives, behaviors, and rationale. We've heard this one before. While not uninteresting, it is nothing new. There are great moments after each Episode (or level) where Nilin has a monologue and tells her feelings on the state of things within her head, and outside of her control. This creates a depth in character as she wrestles with morality, a shocking feature to be included in a game.

The gameplay is also pretty predictable. You run here, fight these guys, then jump and climb there. There's no new life being breathed into this genre, in fact, some is being taken out. As you approach an object, an arrow appears above it in accordance to your own position. Basically the route you need to take is mapped out exactly for you when climbing. So, yes, this is a rather linear game. But it isn't so linear that it is abrasive. The desire to just explore Neo-Paris is certainly present throughout the game so far, but is left unfulfilled due to lack of ability to do so. Oh well.

As far as the gameplay is concerned, the creme de la creme is the ability to remix memories. A good example of this is when a general, or some such official, remembers having an argument with his girlfriend. Nilin comes in and enters his data memories and tweaks certain things to get the desired result. So, you, the player, have to manipulate certain objects until the aforementioned result occurs. In this particular situation, you must make the general "remember" that he shot his girlfriend in a drunken rage. The result he comes to after Nilin escapes and he realizes what he's done and kills himself in real life. Crazyness. Unfortunately, this system is used all too infrequently. I've used it maybe twice so far. If they had utilized this gem more often this game could have easily been a 5.

There is an interesting innovation for the fighting, too, though. It is simply punch and kick and then dodge and repeat, BUT, you can customize your own combos (within preconditioned parameters). The game provides a combo layout (square, square, square, or square, triangle, triangle, square....) and you fill it in with your choice of three "types" of attacks either power move, regenerative, or cool down. These are all explained in the game, and if you're interested enough, you'll buy the game so I won't describe them here. Besides, if you're a crafty gamer, maybe you can already figure out what they do?

Overall, this is a fun game, but so far it hasn't captivated my heart to the point that while driving back home I think "Can't wait to get me some of __________ (fill in blank with awesome game)." If you're looking for a mindless good time with a story that is engaging but not spellbinding, and gameplay that doesn't scream revolution, but is fun nonetheless, then this is for you. Also, I thought I would mention that thus far, again about 43% into the game, I have seen no reason for this to be rated Mature. There has been some slight smear of blood on the wall but that's about it. When you, or an enemy, gets hit, there is no blood that flies out (God Of War style). The language hasn't been offensive either.

EDIT 8/1/13: Ok. So I put this game down to play The Last of Us (which if you don't own, then you should really stop reading this and go buy it now). In my opinion it was poor timing to have this game released so close to a monstrously anticipated title such as The Last of Us. Well, I beat that game, and so I returned to Remember Me, as it was left unfunished about 50% through when I stopped playing.

The problem was that once I started playing again, I was bored immediately. I did a few fights, even remixed a memory, (my favorite and the most redeeming value of this game) but I still just lost interest within a few seconds. It wasn't because the Elite Enforcers are a lame enemy, it was just SO boring.

Part of the fun of games is figuring out where I can climb next, and if the developers can't create an intuitive "flow" of climbable objects then phooey on them. Don't put an arrow telling me where to climb, I should be able to figure it out for myself. I wouldn't go so far as to say that doing so is "offensive to my intelligence" but it is downright unnecessary.

Also, the fights are very tiresome. Even with a break of about a month between where I left this game off and where I picked it up, I was still bored with the fights.

This game boils down to one thing: predictability. This is why my title says "3.7...." yet I switched my four star original rating to a two star. Remember Me is fun and endearing at first, but once you play a bit, you realize, "Hey, I've done this before...like a thousand times."

First Impressions are a big thing to me with games. In the first ten minutes of it this game immediately hooks you as you feel like you're really thrown into Nilins' situation. (main character)

I only got to play it for about 45 minutes this morning but from what I can tell, the game play is very much a cross between the new Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia.

The fighting system is rather unique in itself, as a dodge can break up a combo that was being executed, and the combos themselves are ones YOU make up and program in, as opposed to having to memorize them.

As far as graphics and sound go, I'd absolutely say a 10 on both in my opinion. They're smooth and sleek with a LOT going on in the background on most levels.

In the end if you like a game where you can scale walls and buildings like Tomb Raider, have a fighting system like Prince of Persia where you can actively dodge, and a badass story line where social media gets way out of hand, you'll definitely enjoy this.

At first this cable worked great but after 2 months I noticed that my controllers were only lasting about a day if not less when i usually get 2-3 days out of them. I hook my controllers on a another cable and one been all day and barely went down a bar. This cable is good while playing to maintain current charge but if you want a full battery charge use your original cable

I received two FightPads as a gift in February, 2009 (the month of its release).

Within a few weeks, one FightPad was completely malfunctioninga defective D-Pad (downward direction glitch).

The other FightPad worked OK when used by itself; However, when playing with two FightPads simultaneously, they would interfere with one another and lose their signals (obviously, this is not a good thing to happen during fighting games).

I contacted Mad Catz, via their website. I was assured that it was an issue with the USB donglesMad Catz mailed me two complimentary USB dongles.

The issue continued and became progressively worse.

I once again contacted Mad Catz. This time, they requested I mail the controllers back, along with a receipt, in order to be covered by the 1 year manufacturer's warranty. I explained to Mad Catz that the FightPads were a gift, and that I had no receipt.

I also explained that the controllers were released in February of 2009. It was still the year 2009, so how could the 1 year warranty be over?

Apparently my logic was too much for Mad Catz to handle. They refused to help me without a receipt.

The design of the FightPad is excellent, but the malfunctioning wireless technology is inexcusable.

Furthermore, I am disappointed with the way Mad Catz handled my situation.

I've spent a lot of money on their products throughout the yearsshame on them.

I purchased 2 of these pads, one for the PS3 and one for the 360. I have no complaints about the design (very reminiscent of the 6 button sega genesis/saturn controller), and in fact i wish there were more controllers designed like this. It fits comfortably in your hands and the buttons are excellent. While the d-pad may not be for everyone (it's incredibly 'loose' making it easy to roll your thumb around, but is very snappy), it does it's job. The main problem i have is the wireless connection with PS3 pad. It tends to lose signal and your character may move in a direction you may not want. I have only found that this problem occurs on the PS3 controller, which makes me wonder why they didn't just wire it like they did with the 360 version. Overall I like the design, but there are some significant flaws which make this an item to avoid. I would recommend sticking with the standard controller for both the Playstation and Xbox, or save for a arcade stick such as the Hori EX-SE(360) or EX-SA(PS3).

I bought this fightpad months ago and it worked flawlessly for 2 months I think, then the D-pad began to get stuck in the downward position. After another week, the USB receiver stopped talking to the Fightpad. My warrenty was up so I had to buy another one because I could not use the PS3 controller after using this Fightpad. So I order the SS4 Round 2 Fightpad and it was a little stiffer than the first one a got but once again it was a WONDERFULL controller. After a month, the USB stop talking to this controller as well.........NOW I'M REALLY STARTING TO GET TICKED OFF!!! For the life of me I could figure out why the USB and Fightpad just stopped communicating w/ each other. So just messing around I took the USB transmitter from the first Fightpad I bought just to see if my new controller would reconize it and you know what IT DID!!!!!! MadCatz needs to work a little harder on their quality; THEY SHOULD JUST MAKE THE PS3 FIGHTPAD WIRED just like the Xbox Fightpad. And one more thing, the range on this thing is like 2 to 3ft. I swear because anything further you start to notice some lag response.

I originally bought the gamepad because I wanted a more classic button layout than what the PS3 controller offered me. Ironically, I found this pad harder to play with. In all fairness to the gamepad, I realize now that I was burning out on the game when I bought the pad and this was an effort on my part to extend my fun in the game. Unfortunately when I got the pad I think I had already gotten to accustomed to playing with the PS3 controller. I found the moves harder to perform using this pad.

I gave it to a friend who swears by it, so whatever it is, it is not a bad product, it just did not work for me.

I had bought 2 of these controllers for my PS3 because to me the PS3 controller seemed a little slower to respond to buttons being pressed. The first month with this controller was excellent. I use Vega on SF4 and has Ultra was difficult to pull off in time to hit the opponent exactly when I wanted to. The PS3 controller would just make Vega jump in the air leaving him wide open to counters but the madcatz controller seemed to cure that mistake 90% of the time. Then as expected from madcatz equipment it wasn't working correctly. The controller was stuck in the forward position (Vega would continue to walk forward without pressing the D-pad). So since I bought 2 of them I switched to the other madcatz controller since my primary one wasn't working. I plugged the second controller in to find out... THAT ONE DIDN'T WORK AT ALL! madcatz I'm done with you.
